The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 superduty. The contact crashed into a vehicle while driving 65 mph. The air bags did not deploy. The contact was injured as a result of the lack of the air bag deployment. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they would take his information and would most likely investigate the failure. The current and failure mileages were 127,000.

Driving aprox.35- 40 mph in our ford f-250 when a car pulled out in front of us..i hit the breaks and turned the wheels to the right.point of impact was at the front of the truck (at the driver side bumper area).however no air bags went off.the impact was hard enough to total her car.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 sd.while driving 50 mph, the contact's father lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence.the air bags failed to deploy.her father sustained massive head injuries and died.the vehicle was towed.the crash will be further investigated.police report number 9994827 was filed.the dealer information was unavailable.the current and failure mileages were 63,000.

Husband was packing up in parking lot w/our vechicle that had back-up sensors.sensors did not go off and he hit a 3' pole.granted he should have known the pole was there..but we paid extra for these to work.i tae 50% fault but so should ford.after picking up the vehicle from repairs we were told that all 4 sensors had to be fixed becuase of "over-circuit" or something.

2002 ford f250 dies while driving.

2002 ford f250 diesel truck on interstate 25 in denver.proceeding at 70 mph in middle lane in heavy fast traffic and suddenly everything shut down.no power, no electrical, no brakes, no steering, very dangerous situation in rush hour traffic. Had it towed.this is the second time the cam sensor has just quit within 1.5 years at $500 cost to replace each time.but, i could have been seriously injured. I believe this justifies a recall to prevent someone from being seriously hurt. Cam sensor!!!

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle caught fire due to an electrical short in the wires and fuse box.the insurance company is currently investigating and will provide additional details at a later time.

My 2002 ford f250 v10 with an immaculate maintenance record and 70,000 miles on it, started to tic, tic, tic? i brought it to the dealer today to get checked out, he got in the truck and revved the engine and....boom! a spark plug shot out right before my eyes and gasoline/oxygen mist repeatedly shot out of the hole!!!. Simply put, tires wear out, ball joints wear out, wheel bearings wear out. Spark plugs don't shoot out of cylinder heads unless the cylinder head is defective!!!!!!!!!!!! the repair cost me $600.00! there are 1000's of complaints on the web of the same thing happening to many people. Ford needs to be held accountable......and i want my money back!

The wiring harness for the injectors started falling apart. Dealer where i bought the truck new said they have been having problems with the harness. They said they have a new and improved harness that will not fall apart.

My speed control stopped working in 2012. It is a ford f-250 super duty.vin [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2002 ford f-250 5.4l triton motor.95,950 miles on eng.spark plug blow out. Just cost me $775 dollars to have spark plug insert, new spark plug, and spark plug coil replaced. I did not get the old parts back.

Camshaft position sensor failure.

The vehicle is dependent upon a vehicle security module to open doors, show if doors are open or closed, automatically lock and unlock doors, turn on and off lights, etc. The unit installed in my vehicle has been replaced by another unit by ford. Ford has not recalled this device. Many owners have reported and have had to replace these devices because of the problems with locks not working (open and close), headlights not working or turning off while driving, false safety indications being displayed, etc. I am now experiencing this problem and have to replace this module to stop these same issues in my vehicle. It is a thermal problem and only occurs whenever the vehicle is warmed during the day in the heat. It begins to work properly after the air conditioner cools the cab down or at night when the temperatures are cooler. The original part # is 2c7t-15k602-aj, the replacement part # is 4c7z-15604-ac.

On november 30, 2006, i was driving my 2002 f250 diesel super duty ford truck on interstate 25 in denver at 6 am and in the middle lane, everything just shut down.no power brakes, steering, etc.i was able to pull over to the shoulder but not all the way off the interstate dodging rush hour traffic.i called aaa and had it towed to a ford dealership.it was a bad cam sensor and this is the second time it has failed in less than 18 months.this was a very dangerous situation as i did not get off the highway and cars were buzzing by only a few feet from my door.ford said this part goes out every 25,000 miles.what a safety hazard!!this know it fails frequently and they are not proactive in initiating a recall to improve this part.i sent them a message and they just gave me the standardized reply.i feel this needs to be reported to someone that can do something about it to prevent someone from getting hurt.i went to an auto safety web site and noticed there were many similar comments regarding this same part. Can you help? it may save someone's life.

While driving my 2002ford f250 7.3 diesel truck, my truck lost all power.i restarted the truck and had traveled about 1/2 mile when the failure occurred again. I restarted the truck again and had traveled about 1/2 a mile when the failure occurred again.at this point i was in my driveway.after further research on the internet, i discovered that this failure is very common in this vehicle and happens with no warning and at any speed.several people on the internet went so far as to suggest carrying a spare part with you at all times as well as the tools needed to make the repair on the road.my local ford dealer informed me that this a very common problem.i feel that this issue should be addressed before any fatalities occur as this has happened while driving at high rates of speed with no warning.

While driving i began to hear a loud popping noise coming from the engine.after stopping and checking theengine i notice i had a blown out spark plug and busted ignition coil. Ihave a 2002 ford f 250 sd.i have attempted to put in a new plug but it will not screw into the hole.damage estimates are from $150.00 on labor fees and $75-100 on a temp. Fix helicoil or head replacement for $2500.00.ford mech. Said it happens all the time, due to poor design.

My 2002 ford f-250 super duty truck caught fire due to the brake switch recall problem.the brake switch (under the hood) burned and the fuse block (under the dash) melted.the cab filled with smoke while my spouse was driving.the switch, fuse block, and cable end were replaced due to this incident.

Spark plug blow out on 2002 f250 super duty 4x4 pickup.

My f-250 super duty 4x4 pickup recentlystalled while driving off the freeway.the following day the truck stalled a second time in traffic and a third time while entering i15 in barstow, ca. The truck was towed to soutars ford in barstow, ca.the following monday soutars replaced a cam sensor assembly.the cam sensor was covered under the ford 100,000 warranty with $100 deductible.two weeks ago i returned from a 4000 trip to yellowstone and glacier national parks.on this trip i towed a 9000 lb 5th wheel with my f250.had the cam sensor gone out while i was towing the trailer, particularly on many miles of steep mountain roads, i can only imagine the consequences.when the truck stalled there was no warning - no difference in any of the gauges to indicate something was wrong.the power steering and brakes quit working when the engine stalls.loss of control and a collision could certainly occur when the truck suddenly stalls.an f250 4x4 is a very heavy vehicle - it doesn't move without the engine running unless you are on a hill.i am concerned that the cam sensor may fail again without warning.i have called the 800 number for ford motor company and registered my concerns.there doesn't seem to be any interest on the part of ford to talk to me about this problems and the potential seriousness of the failure.i have spoken to the local ford dealer and have found that they have replaced this part on other ford diesels with the 7.3l engine..i am thankful that i am reporting no injuries or deaths from this failure.i could have easily been killed on interstate 15 had i stalled out in 70 mph traffic which is very heavy on a friday night.i chose to call a tow truck instead.what protection is there from a problem like this one?a vehicle of over two tons is not safe when it can stop running without warning at any time, particularly when it is used for towing a trailer.

Over the last 2 months, the generic electronic module (gem) has shown signs of failure. First the door locks would randomly lock and unlock while the vehicle was in motion. Finally, the door locks stopped working all together, the dome light will not automatically turn on and the door ajar indicator stays illuminated. The reno ford dealer would not return phone calls to schedule a repair. The pickup truck remains unrepaired.

The vsm (vehicle security module) failed.symptoms include, but are not limited to:power door locks do not work, key fob does not work, auto headlights do not work, radio doesn't turn off when key is out of the ignition and door opens, no audible indicator for key in the ignition, no audible indicator for headlights on with door open, dome lights stay on.this problem is widespread with this model year and there are many reports on forums around the internet.ford has also stopped making the original part and replaced its manufacture with a new part which supposedly does not exhibit the same random failure rate.headlights not working is a major life safety issue.i drove without headlights on for some time (as the auto headlights did not come on) and did not notice it until i was on an unlit street.all of the old vsms should be changed to the new model free of charge to prevent this from happening.

2002 f250 sd would stop on me.had cps sensor replaced corrected problem.nhtsa has a recall on this part.*a

I own a 2002 ford f250 7.3l power stroke diesel. On 10-20-06 the cps failed in a rainstorm. My wife (7 months pregnant) was driving and was nearly involved in a crash because when the failure occurred all electronics died as did the motor. This rendered the power steering and power brakes useless. This problem could have caused a fatality if not to my wife but other drivers as well. The truck stranded my wife on the side of a country road for 2 hrs. Waiting for a tow service. The vehicle had to be towed and the cps replaced before the truck would restart.

I was driving on the highway when my truck died. I started it and it went for hours and then died again. Then it would go two feet and die and then days and die. I had no warring. This is very dangerous and some one could get killed. Just look on the internet and you can see many people having problems with the cps, cam positioning sensor. They even say to carry an extra one with you, cause of them going out all the time??? we replaced ours after replacing many other wrong parts, because we had no idea of this being a problem with ford trucks. We replaced the accelerator pedal, sensors, and other parts until we found the cps was the problem. Many wasted dollars.please look into this, before it is to late and someone gets hurt.

I own a 2002 ford f-250 super duty,4x4,extended cab. The vehicle has less than 12000 miles and was towed to ford dealer as it would not start. I was informed that due to "mother nature" excessive corrosion was the cause of starter going bad and cables also,i had to pay over $600.00 repairs, not warranted by ford. *nlm

Dt: the contact stated on june 24, 2006 the vehicle battery light illuminated. When the dealer was contacted, they recommended the vehicle to be towed to the dealership. This is the fourth time vehicle has been taken to the dealer for alternator. The first three times, the vehicle would not start and the alternator was replaced by the dealer.

I have a ford 2002 f-250 super duty that the spark plug blew out f the cylinder head. This caused a very significant power loss causing the truck to slow very quickly much like applying the brakes but not using them. This caused a very near accident on a highway traveling at 50 mph and the slowing without brake lightsnearly caused an accident. After approximately 1 min of researching the problem about the accident i realized that this problem is huge !!!! to say the least. There have been countless reports of spark plugs blowing and either people being stranded to near collisions. Also i am a firefighters paramedic and my nose is no hydrocarbon meter but the levels of gasoline vapors that accumulate in a very short time. My question to that is how much vapor collects in the cab compartment and can it cause a compartment fire before the driver can safely get the vehicle to a safe area to exit the vehicle? i bring this to your attention because of my research i do not believe any letters or calling ford motor as just a vehicle owner can make ford motor company more aware of this problem. Thank you!

Failure of cam position sensor on2002 f250 7.3 diesel superduty. Vehicle started to die for no reason at random times. Took vehicle to ford dealer, and they pointed to cps. Replaced cps at a cost of $200 and problem went away. Thought the problem was fuel related to begin with untili went online and found the failure on the internet ,and then suspected by the dealer. No codes read.

Camshaft position sensor (cps) has failed 3 times since i've had the vehicle. My truck has only 77,000 miles on it. When this sensor fails the truck dies instantly and will not restart. I was lucky all 3 times to not be pulling a trailer in heavy traffic.

Ford2002, f250 crew cab pickup, diesel, started on fire in the driveway on december 1, 2003, 4-5 hours after it was parked. I burned down our garage and the second vehicle that was parked next to it.the garage is not attached to the house.

My ford truck would stall whenever you stopped or pressed the brake to slow down at intersections ,i took it to the dealer and they said it had a faulty cam sensor, faulty o-rings and high pressure pump,i dont have the original part only the work order from the repairs that were made

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 super duty. The contact was driving at approximate speeds of 10 mph with a boat hitched to the rear trailer. He proceeded to drive downhill and shifted into second gear and activated the vehicle overdrive. When the overdrive was activated, the instrument panel immediately went blank and the vehicle went idle. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where the contact was informed that a fuse had blown in the vehicle and the dealer serviced the vehicle accordingly. The failure recurred on a separate occasion while towing a camper downhill under similar conditions as the first failure. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer to be serviced. The failure mileage was 64,000 and the current mileage was 64,100.

Dt:the consumer stated that2002 ford f250 had two wires that melted together in the wiring harness. The entire circuit board shorted out.the consumer tookthe truck to the dealership.the consumercontacted ford, and they informed her that there was no warranty to fix the truck.the owner stated that she had no money to fix the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, a loud abnormal sound emitted from the engine compartment. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the spark plug had exploded out of the cylinder head. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 84,000.

At 102000 miles engine ejected #8 spark plug while driving, taking threads with it. Local mechanic repaired using insert. At 125000 miles engine ejected #3 spark plug in same manner. Same mechanic inspected #8 while repairing #3 and found insert not holding, plus two other plugs backing out.

Truck dies while driving without any warning, can-not find the problem and ford will not acknowledge that there is an issue.

The cps (camshaft position sensor) failed on my 2002 f250 ford powerstroke while driving.this resulted in very hard steering and very poor braking ability.if i had been towing my fifth wheel the situation could have been very serious.i later found that the failure of the cps is very common on ford powerstrokes from 1999 through 2003.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f250 sd. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact heard a loud noise outside of the vehicle and suddenly there was a reduction in the engine power. The contact maneuvered to the side of the road and then resumed cautiously to the residence. Upon reaching the destination the vehicle was inspected. The contact detected one of the spark plugs exploded from the head. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 sd.while driving approximately 15 mph, the contact heard a loud popping noise outside of the vehicle.suddenly, there was reduced engine power.the driver pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the engine.the engine was restarted after a few minutes and the contact heard an extremely loud noise.the vehicle is in the process of being towed to an independent mechanic.the cause of the failure has not been determined.the vin was unknown.the failure and current mileages were 89,000. Ford f250 v-10 spit spark plug, caused small fire under the hood.broke the cop.if a spark plug blows out and could injure a person working on the vehicle, why is that different from this that is classified as a safety recall? (engine cooling fan blades that break unexpectedly causing injury to persons working on a vehicle).

On sunday may 1st. I was driving my ford f250 on the freeway and noticed that smoke was coming out of the dashboard, and out of theac vents. I pulled over to theemergency lane of the freeway and opened the hood, we saw no smoke nor fire under the hood but just to be on the safe side i disconnected the battery. The smoke continued coming out through the dashboard i then proceeded to call aaa and they called the police. My son then called 911, and before the fire department arrived to the scene that truck caught fire and kept burning until the fire dept. Turned it off. The truck is now a total loss, aside from my truck burning up i had alot of work tools that burned in the fire as well.

The number three spark plug blew out and caused a small fire that was extinguished with a large slurpee.

My ford f-250 pickup blew a spark plug out of the head. The dealer charged me 5,200.00 to replace the head. At the time of this, the truck had only 47,000 miles on it. It's a 2002 ford f-250 super duty, 5.4 ltr engine.

Spark plug in the #8 cylinder was blown out breaking the coil pack and messing the threads up inside the head on the triton 5.4 v8.

I just bought a ford f250 it has a 5.4l.and the spark plugs eject from the engine why i was driving. No warning what so ever the truck seemed to be running fine. Spark plug ejection is dangerous because fuel vapor starts coming out the spark plug hole, which is clearly a serious safety issue. The fuel vapor can be ignited by the loose spark plug .so i took it in and the mechanic said he has seen this happen in ford trucks to many times. He tried to fix it with a helicoil kit . That worked for about 2 weeks then it blew out again. Then i had the heads replaced. To make a long story short to this day i am still having a problem . Since the heads were replaced its been in the shop at least 6 times because of this. And spent more then $3,000 i justthink this is not only a safety problem but it should not be my problem.

2002 ford f-250 5.4l triton motor.95,950 miles on eng.spark plug blow out. Just cost me $775 dollars to have spark plug insert, new spark plug, and spark plug coil replaced. I did not get the old parts back.

Two spark plug so far have been ejected.

I purchased an f250 2002 triton v8 super duty mid year 2007. Less than a year after the purchase a spark plug blew out of the manifold. This all happened under normal highway driving conditions. The dealer put in an insert, rethreaded it and replaced spark plug. Almost a year to the day it happened again. So now #2 & #4 have blown out. On 5/30/09 a third one blew out. All on the left side (passenger side) of the manifold. So now #2, #3 and #4 have blown out. I researched the incident online and have found 500 other cases. I'm curious how many are really out there that weren't reported. I've been fortunate because in some cases the spark plug blew through the hood or damaged the manifold. I do however wonder what damage is occurring each time it happens. How many reports or how many vehicles does it take before there's a recall? even though i have extended warranty i've been charged a deductible each time and now face a third if my warranty is still good. I have one more plug on that side that hasn't blown yet and since this one was only 7 months since the last one i suspect i'll be paying again. I saw online where it was suggested as a piston problem.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f250 super duty. While the contact was driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to shake with a vibration. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic who stated that one of the spark plugs ejected from the engine. The vehicle was in the process of being towed to a different mechanic to berepaired. The failure mileage was 86,000.

Driving in my car and i heard a thump and some smoke appeared from hood. When i raised the hood of the car i noticed a spark plug hanging in which this is a ford f250 2002. Took it to the shop and they told me that all ford trucks has been doing this. Not fair that there is no class action lawsuit against them this could have happened to me while i was on the express way and caused some major problems. What can i do because it is bound to happen again.

2002 f250 super duty lariat with 80,350 miles and original factory installed plugs lost a sparkplug on passenger side of motor on 8/22/2010, 183 miles from dealer(who sold me an after market "extended" warranty. I paid $300.00 plus to have truck trailered back to the dealer and have incurred other expenses now that we are going on over a week since the problem! i don't have any faith in the vehicle now and am not going to be overly surprised at what this situation has done to the trade-in value of, what was, a beautiful truck. Ford says "won't help" and warranty people say "won't help; not a lubricated part". Asking for letters to that effect from both company's for my "personal use"!!!

There was no event leading up to this failure it just happened the spark plug and coil blew out of the cyl head of the engine causing a loud noise and severe lost of power. The truck had to be towed to the repair shop to repair the head and rethread the spark plug hole. Looking on the internet for this same problem and found hundreds of complaints with the same problem.

Camshaft position sensor (cps) has failed 3 times since i've had the vehicle. My truck has only 77,000 miles on it. When this sensor fails the truck dies instantly and will not restart. I was lucky all 3 times to not be pulling a trailer in heavy traffic.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 super duty. While driving at 50 mph, the contact heard a hissing noise and the vehicle suddenly lost power. The contact pulled over and noticed a spark plug had fallen out of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership where it was repaired. The failure mileage was 70,142. The current mileage was approximately 79,000.

After stopping at a stop sign i stepped on the gas pedal and heard a loud bang. As i was only 100 yards from home , i went homeand called my mechanic. He said i blew out a spark plug and damaged the coil for that plug. I had to put in a helicoil and replace the coil. After reading many reports of this i felt the need to file this complaint. I feel ford should do something about this problem. I am going to replace my truck , most likely with a different brand.

Ford f-250 5.4 l while driving low speed, heard loud pop in engine compartment, spark plug ejected from head.discovered that this is a common occurrence with aluminum head engines, esp ford 1989 through 2005 4.6 and 5.4 liter engines.problem is the result of 5 thread depth in head instead on new spec of 7. Preventive measures, remove plugs, clean carbon from threads, reinstall plug, torque to required foot pounds.why ford or dealer doesn't tell you this is criminal.that's why i now drive a toyota.

Spark plug blowout while driving on 5.4 liter triton motor with 48,000 miles factory installed spark plugs. Ford motor dealer contacted. Refused to accept responsibility. Mechanic made shop repair by pulling intake and installing insert to number 3 cylinder. $1000.00 dollar repair, potential fuel ignition from motor, escaping fuel mix combined with coilspark present during failure.

Dt: the contact stated while driving 15-20 mph, there was a loud popping sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined the head, spark plug and ignition coil on the spark plugs needed to be replaced. While searching the internet for information related to the defect on the vehicle, a case action suit in california was observed against the manufacturer.

Several cam position sensor failures .

High pressure oil pump o-ring failure.(1) o-ring failed at 08/30/04 with 30,000 miles. Dealer repaired with updated o-ring kit as specified by ford bulletin.covered under warranty(2)o-ring failed again at 08/16/07 with 70,826 miles.ford dealer repaired with updated 0-ring kit as specified by ford bulletin.this time i had to pay $100.00 deductible.(3)o-ring failed again on 06/11/08 with 83,000 miles.repaired again in 10 month since last repair.i had to pay the full price of repair of 561.82.same part has failed three times on my 2002 f250 crewcab 4 door 7.3 diesel.when o-ring fails the oil is leakingwhile engine is running.this is not a slow leak but a steady stream as the line is under high pressure.i had to shut down the engine while driving because of low oil pressure and you have no control of brakes or the power steering on vehicle.

Cam shaft sensor failed while 7.3 powerstroke was a dealer for scheduled maintenance.

Ford f-250 spark plug came out of head, broke off coil pack, cant get new plug back in. This should not be able to happen. I guess i am going to try helicoil,it happened on the 3rd cyl back from the front on right side so its kind of under the windshield all ready, not much room for drill.

2002 ford f-250 v-10 i having the issue of the spark plug blowing out this is the second one in abouta years time. Luckily the first time spark plug went back in this time it isn't going to happen that way. If its a ford issue they need to fix it instead of us having to fix there problems.

I have a ford f-250 7.3 liter diesel truck that has stranded me, my wifeandfamily too many timesdue to ford p/n f7tz-12k073-a sensor-camshaft failure.ihad to purchase five of the sensors at $100 plus, and had only 59,000 miles on my truck.i just ordered two p/n f7tz-12k073-b sensor-camshaft because the current sensorfailed.

Driving my 2002 fordf-250 w/a 5.4l triton engine with 80k miles, #3 cylinder spit out its spark plug and strips threads .vehicle stalled, brought to ford dealer and incurred $3,800.00 engine repair. This is absolute bs!, ford is well aware of thousands of these defective cylinder heads, as they profit from this very expensive repair ($3,800.00). My complaint is that there ought to be a recall as there are thousands of victims of this defective ford product. It's a safety issue, i stalled on a major highway and the sparkplug is right under my fuel rail. Please don't tell me this is another ineffective/costly government agency, surely the nhtsa is doing something about this well known defect.

Recently four goshen vans and / or buses have caught fire and completely burned up. In three cases the buses / vans were parked and either just shut off or parked and idling when smoke was discovered and then the fire started. In each case the vehicle burned up in minutes (7 minutes in one case). Some of these vehicles are used to transport disabled clients so these are very serious incidents which could lead to death or injury.

Ford f250 v10 blown spark plugs. 3 in under two months.

My 2002 ford f-250 superduty (7.3 diesel) truck broke down while coming back from the mountains.check engine light....harsh banging in the drive train (almost like hitting a huge pot hole at highway speeds) and then the truck died.my truck and trailer had to be towed to eagle colorado (the nearest dealership).sure enough, as i suspected and have seen from about ten other owners of these trucks, it was the camshaft position sensor.the repair was $237.56.i only write today, because msn reports that ford is finally recalling these vehicles due to the cps.how nice of them to do it after most of us have already broken down on the side of the road with this exact problem...i know i am only one guy and i only know 12 other people with this engine, but i think it is funny that everyone i know with over 60k miles has had this happen.my truck only has 58k on the odometer.several of us carry a spare cps and the tools to replace it with us in the truck at all times.in case anyone wants to know, they seem to fail more regularly after they have been replaced.

#3 spark plug blew out of the head. First happened in 2004 ford service acted like he never saw it before and didn't know a solution . I had a heli coil installed, it happened 3 more times before the last time, i had all plugs heli coiled .well when #3 blew out again on 4-14-07 and could not be repaired again.i was told the entire engine should replaced as previous problems had caused excessive cylinder wear. It wasbeing done today. Total out of pocket $ 7,000 plus 16 lost days of work rental fees.

I was driving when a loud pop and what sounded like a large exhaust leak came from under the hood. Opened hood and found coil pack and spark plug laying on top of the valve cover. Vehicle stalled and didn't want to start. Took to repair facility where the retapped spark plug cylinder added heli coil new spark plug and coil pack two weeks later the engine started making a loud gurgling noise which has yet to be diagnosed.

I am on my fifth sparkplug blowout, the first one blew out with 42000 miles and ford would not cover it, it cost me $482.00, & now i'm up to $2,410.00.my mechanic said when the back plugs blow it will cost more......he also said that the heli coil would last about 1-2 yrs.

Ford f-250 2002 engine blew out a spark plug.

#2 spark plug blown out of head while driving. Spark plug threads in head stripped out causing plug to blow out and damage coil.truck was taken to dealer for diagnosis, dealer had to install a helicoil in head at location #2.

Cam position sensor failure. Loss of power. No steering. No brakes. Replaced sensor.

While driving at 35 mph, a spark plug was ejected from my 2002 ford f-250 5.4l v8 pickup truck, causing the engine to stall and resulting in a loss of power for steering and braking.i'm told by my mechanic today, who identified the problem even before i told him why i was there, that this is due to a known defect with many ford engines, but that no recall was ever issued.given the danger of fuel vapors escaping from the spark plug hole and risk of fire, perhaps the nhtsa should press ford on the issue if it really is a common problem.

Vehicle stalls intermittently.occurs often in intersections when taking off.creates a very dangerous situation.the same year, make, model number and engine type have been recalled, however, our vin was not included so ford will not honor.

5:30 monday morning i started my 2002 ford f250 superduty pickup, as soon as my truck started there was a huge explosion and a big fire ball flash from under my hood followed by smoke and the odor of plastic burning and gas fumes. I immediately shut the truck off and opened the hood, after some investigation i was amazed to see that a spark plug had completely blown out of the head of my engine. I was happy to see that the fire was minimal but i was completely amazed that a plug blew out of my engine. About seven or so days ago my engine started to make a tapping noise under the hood, i knew that it could be a lifter because of the over head cam but now i guess i know what that noise was, just the gases pushing through the threads of the plug.no one was hurt and my truck didn't burn to the ground, but i did have to borrow my wife's truck all week and work out rides while mine was in the shop. I am a carpenter and need my truck every day so when this happened i knew i had to find information on this problem. I was amazed to find that there were many people i know that this happened to, so i looked into it more and found that there are many people talking about it on the computer with the exact same experience as me some with more damage and some say it happened several times in the same engine. There are many repair kit options available for this problem in the ford engines, it seams quite obvious to me that this is a huge problem that ford must be responsible for, i know i'm not i take care of my truck and have always maintained it at high level. Ford says that the plugs are blowing out because of improper torquing well i guess they must have done that wrong inthe plant when the truck was built because they were never changed or touched by anyone else. After looking into this problem i cant understand why there has not been a recall to fix this problem instead ford just makes money off consumers on it by selling them new heads for the engines and the labor $1500.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250.he noticed flames emerging from the engine compartment. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the failure. The current and failure mileages were 168000.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f250 super duty.while driving less than 70 mph, the contact heard a thumping noise under the hood.he noticed that the spark plug wires were loose and the number 3 cylinder spark plug was detached.this was the second time the failure occurred.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that ford was experiencing issues with aluminum heads causing the spark plugs to fail.the vin was unknown.the failure and current mileages were less than 95,000.

I have a 2002 ford f250 with a triton v* engine.to this date, it has blown out 5 spark plugs!so far, the repairs have run over $1000 to fix this, and with three more to go, i can foresee at least another $750, which i can ill afford.

Leaking head gaskets on 2002 ford f250 truck with 5.4l engine allows oil to leak onto starter and exhaust manifold creating safety hazard. This is a known problem with this type engine.

I own a 2002 f250v10 with approx 84,000 miles. I was just driving along and the spark plug from the # 8 cylinder blew out. I had to retap it and put a helicoil in it. The spark plugs were the original spark plugs and have never been replaced. I have seen numerous complaints of the same problem on kline. It is definitely a manufacturing defect. Also i need to replace the exhaust manifold bolts on the same cylinder heads. This is another problem i have found numerous complaints about online.

2002 ford f250 with a triton v8 5.4l engine had the spark plug blown out of the cylinder head and destroyed the ignition coil. Apparently this is an extremely common problem and ford is unwilling to do anything. Cost of repair is $1100.00. Could potentially start a fire as fuel air mixture escape the cylinder the coil was sparking against the engine and this could have started a fire. The original factory plugs were installed in the engine, and the engine has never been serviced by anyone except the ford dealership.

2002 ford f-250 5.4l spark plug loosened and blew out of cylinder head.3rd plug from the front on passenger side.strong smell of gasoline.broke the coil over plug, could have broken the fuel rail and resulted in fire.repair cost not yet available - will attempt to fix myself as out of warranty.cruise control also not working but this truck not included in past recall - concerned about fire hazard in cruise control also.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 sd.while driving less than 65 mph, the contact smelled burning oil.he then noticed smoke underneath the hood and oil dripping from the exhaust.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the head gasket was leaking.they would need to disassemble the engine and replace the head gasket at the estimated cost of $2,800-$4,000.the manufacturer was notified and could not assist because there were no recalls.the failure mileage was 121,000 and current mileage was 122,000.

Spark plug in the #8 cylinder was blown out breaking the coil pack and messing the threads up inside the head on the triton 5.4 v8.

I own a 2002 ford f-250 w/ 5.4 triton v8. On this past sunday, while driving at 30 mph, a large bang was heard form my engine. The engine began to lose power and slow. After being towed to my local ford dealer to be checked out, it was discovered that a spark plug had blown out of the cylinder head on the right side of the engine. The service manager at the ford garage stated it ruined the cylinder head and needs replacement. This service will require a large amount of work and new parts to complete. The cost will be $3400.00.

I was making a left turn when i heard a pop, pop, pop.i blew out #3 spark plug in my 2002 f250. It has 72,000 miles on it.i chose to have it repaired rather than replacing the head(600$ as opposed to 3000$). The ford dealership in wausau wi. Would not repair it,they would only replace the head, and would not admit that this was a recurring problem.

Failure of engine heli-coil in 2002 ford f-250 triton 5.4l gasoline engine.failure occurred at 89,000 miles.failure occurred upon startup.vehicle towed to dealer and heli-coil rethreaded for $1,000.subsequent research on the web indicates this problem is extremely common in this engine and due to manufacturing/design flaw.

When driving at 25 mph the # 3 spark plug blew out of the cylinder head.

2002 ford f250 crew cab 4x4 short box, 5.4l v-8 gasoline enginejust under 92000 miles.on 7/21/2008 merging on the expressway under heavy acceleration, a loud bang with spring popping sound was heard from the engine followed by the distinct odor of exhaust and unburned gasoline.verified throttle control and continued to drive with loud noise coming from engine.drove 4 miles to work to safely inspect the problem.noted that the exhaust y-pipe was separated from the drivers side exhaust manifold.assuming that it was just a failed manifold bolt, drove ~20 miles to the dealership to have it looked at.received the call that the number 6 spark plug was ejected from the head.upon the dealerships inspection, found that the threads were stripped out of the head.the spark plug then arrested in the ignition coil which was separated from the head due to failure of its mounting flange.the ignition wire held the coil and plug on the engine.there was zero gap noted on the spark plug electrode with anti-seize compound on only about .5" of the spark plug thread.thus suggested that only .5" of thread engagement was present from the factory original plugs (i.e. The spark plugs were not replaced since the recommended replacement interval is 10 years 100000 miles).advised that at a minimum a head needed to be replaced, but that an engine may be a better economical choice so that both heads are replaced and this design issue could be overcome (the newly remanufactured engine is supposed to have larger thread engagement at approximately .75").engine replaced to insure that this failure would not occur on one of the other cylinders in the head that would not be replaced.

Spark plug blew out after stopping for red light.shut off engine, popped the hood and there was a small fire under the hood.i was able to put the fire out quickly with my shirt.cop was damaged, tried to re-install plug, but the threads in the head were stripped.i was able to just snug the plug down enough to get me home. About .5 mi.i was stopped in the middle of the road with traffic going around me both directions.

I had a spark plug blow out of my cylinder head of my ford f250 2002 with 79,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 sd.while driving 60 mph, the contact heard a popping sound coming from the engine.she examined the vehicle and noticed that a spark plug ejected out of the engine.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.the failure recurred on three different occasions.the current and failure mileages were 104,000.

Vehicle is a 2002 ford f-250 w/ 7.3l diesel engine.the cam position sensor (cps) failed.when it fails, the engine stalls.this means that a nearly 7400 pound vehicle suddenly has no power, including loss of power steering & brakes.the reported incident date is the date of the first failure (happened at a stop light).the second failure happened about 1 year later (while driving).when purchasing a replacement cps, the parts guy said they sell a lot of these (as in they fail often).

My 2002 ford f-250 supercab diesel 7.3 started with a miss as i drove down the highway and has gotten progressively worse. Now it dies out at low speeds in town driving leaving me with no brakes or steering. I have been told this is a common problem with this truck caused by the camshaft positioning sensor but ford assumes no responsibility. This is a very dangerous problem especially when the vehicle is pulling a load.

Truck (2002 ford f-250 powerstroke) engine randomly quits during braking or low/no acceleration.this causes loss of power brakes and steering. Braking and low acceleration occur in intersections frequently i have discovered.truck will restart and problem may or may not return immediately.i took it to a dealership who said they could not duplicate the event and the codes set by the pcm were "unrelated".i took it to the dealer a total of three times for this problem.i read on the internet (www.dieselstop.com) that this symptom was frequently caused by a bad cps sensor.i went to an international engine (maker of the ford powerstroke) dealer and bought a new cps which resolved the problem.i have the old part for inspection if needed.this problem is dangerous.if pulling my trailer, loss of assisted brakes and steering could quickly become catastrophic.

Engine stallingtruck shuts down, all power is lost.

I have a 2002 ford f-250 power stroke diesel. I was on my way to work and all of a sudden the engine just shut off as if i had turned the key off. It picked right back up almost immediately and continued to run for about a mile. Then it shut off again and did not pick back up. This was on a 4 lane highway at 55-60 mph with no power steering and no power brakes on a 7000# truck. I managed to coast into a turn lane and got it to re-fire and moved it into a parking lot. Checked all of my electrical connections under the hood and restarted the truck. It idled fine for a while so i thought maybe a connector was loose and i had fixed the problem. I decided to continue on my way to work. I pulled back out onto the highway and no problems. I had to make a u-turn on the 4 lane highway and right in the middle of it, the truck decides to die again. Luckily, i was able to get it into neutral and re-fired before i got hit in the side by oncoming traffic. Had heard of the cps failures being a problem on the 7.3 power stroke engines so i had it towed home and replaced the cam position sensor. No problems since. I started looking on web sites to find out how many people had been having this same type failure and it seems to be a very common problem. Several web sites are recommending that the power stroke owners that have had this problem notify you all so maybe we can get the problem solved.

Cam position sensor failed on 2002 ford f250 w. 7.3l diesel.when this sensor fails you loose all power assist and the steering becomes very hard and breaks are at best no existent. I was able to get the truck to the side of the highway and not become a hazard. Replace sensor with spare i had with me due to multiple failures over the years made me aware to keep an extra with me at all times.

Cam position sensor failureon 2002 ford f250 powerstroke diesel.70 mph on interstate.loss of power brakes and power steering.

I own a ford f250,2002, diesel.on three different occasions, while driving down the road the engine has simply quit.on two of those instances, i was very lucky not to have had a terrible accident.the first time, it was under warranty and they fixed it no problem, the last two times, it has been rather expensive to have it fixed.ford does pay for the part and it is the same part each time, a cam sensor, but i have to pay for the towing and the deductible.this is extremely dangerous, and it is the same part that is failing.according to the tow truck drivers who have picked up the vehicle, they say it is a common problem.it has also happened to my brother-in-law and he has a 1999 model, but only once.i only have 57,000 miles on the truck, and as i said, it is extremely dangerous, as when it goes, there is no warning, it simply dies.the first time i was doing 70 mph and was just about wiped out by a semi behind me.

I have my truck at the dealership today and after diagnostic they find out that my problem is caused by the cam sensor. My problem start about two weeks a go when my truck just with no alerts/lights just shut off on the middle of the roadbut on tuesday 24th of 2007 i was driving on an small road i'm pulling a 6x12 cargo trailer when my truck did it again but this time because my trailer on the back was very difficult to drive with no power steering and no brakes. I did a search just now and found out that is a problem that ford is aware off and they just don't want to admit please advice me to what i need to do.dealer estimate to fix the problem is about $500.00 labor and parts.

2002 ford f250 superduty. Consumer writes in regards to a strong diesel fuel odor and finding fuel on the passenger side of the engine compartment in the cab of the vehicle.the dealer informed the consumer, the diesel engine was designed with copper sleeves or cups around the fuel injectors. The purpose of the cups were to separate the engine cooling system from the pressurized fuel system. Over a period of time, the engine coolant reacted with the copper cups and created small pin holes or cracks in the injector cups. Since the fuel system was pressurized it injected diesel fuel into the coolant circulating in the engine. Eventually the diesel fuel came out of the radiator overflow and all over the passenger side of the engine compartment. Since there was no way to tell, which injector cup was bad, all of them would have to be replaced along with the coolant hoses and the radiator would need to be flushed. The engine would have to be taken apart, the heads would have to be removed and the injector cups replace.updated 02/13/13

Re: nhtsa action #: pe06011i am currently experiencing these problems related to cps failures and would like to add my support for a recall request.* updated 12/12/07 updated 12/12/07

Truck started cutting off randomly.truck finally quit running on major street was able to get it off the road coasting.cps was replaced and problem was corrected. Old part may still be available.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving at any speed, the vehicle stalled without prior warning.the engine had to remain in the off position for 15 minutes before it would restart.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection.

Repeated failure of camshaft position sensor.

I have a 2002 ford f250 power stroke diesel truck. The diesel engine just shutdown as i was driving on a major road in memphis tn. I lost power steering and brakes but was able to avoid an accident because i muscled the steering wheel and the brakes to get my truck off the road into a parking lot. Fortunately i was in the outside lane and not traveling at 65 mph or the accident could have been very serious. I am told that the problem is the cps although i just found that out today. The truck has been stalling intermittently at stop lights and sputtering on the interstate so i had a hard time diagnosing the problem.

Vehicle has quit running on several occasions, engine just dies, has been happening for about 6 months periodically.on june 2 2007 engine quit 3 times in a half hour time period, replaced camshaft sensor at my expense warranty expired on jan 1 2007.i have read of several complaints about these sensors on the internet and would like to share mine also.

Truck sat all night, started truck waited approx 10 min , drove approx 2 miles, truck stalled/died in the middle of intersection, brakes did not have power assist. Coasted down hill approx .5 miles before i could stop the truck. Truck cooled and restarted then died approx 2 min later. Truck was towed to local ford. Cps replaced as bad.

Truck stops running with no warning during normal operation.

Cam position sensor failure.

Ihad 2 occurrences of this problem. Both times camshaft position sensor failed , causing loss of control.(engine died in traffic. 2002 ford f-250 7.3l diesel. Extreme safety hazard , especially since these truckswere for heavy towing which i did from time to time. Seemedto be widespread problem needing to be addressed.

I have a 2002 ford f-250 super duty pickup truck with a v-10 engine. It has approx. 63,000 miles and is subsequently 'out of warranty' (3/36,000). On july 9, 2004 i heard a brief tapping noise and a pop then a loud noise like an exhaust manifold leak. Immediately upon hearing this noise i shut off the engine and called a tow truck, as i am not a mechanic and did not want to create further damage. When the mechanic arrived to tow my truck he observed that a spark plug had been blown out of the cylinder. I informed him to tow it to his lot until i could decide what to do. The next dy i had the tow truck company bring my truck to the ford dealership i purchased it from. Today after the dealership's mechanic inspected my truck they informed me that the cylinder head was broken and i would be liable for the $3,700.00 repair. What i find distubing is my scheduled spark plug replacement service interval: ford recommends 100,000 miles before replacement. How would i ever know that the speark plug was not installed properly at the factory prior to the scheduled service? additionally, had it not blown out on its own, who knows what other damages would have gone unchecked. I have researched this particular defect on the web and have found not less than 100 people thus far with the exact same complaint. Additionally , i have found numerous people that this has happened to more than once on the same engine. I stopped researching because i feel this is suffucient supporting documentation of my complaint. If necessary, i will be happy to furnish this documentation for you. I have found this problem to be inherent in all v10 ford engines since 1999. I have also found that ford is aware of this problem and has issued a technical service bulletin to all of their dealerships describing this particular repair procedure.

I own a 2002 f-250 sd truck which has the 5.4 triton engine in it. On september 28,2007, i was driving down the road and the # 3 spark plug ejected out of the cylinder head in which stripped all the threads in the cylinder headand the spark plug. I have the spark plug. I am having the problem repaired by an independent auto shop. I have done some research on this situation and found this has happened alot from 1998 to 2003. The plugs are tapered and the plugs have 12 threads , but only 4 threads are the cylinder head which means that the spark plug is only held by 4 threads. I believe ford motor company has an engineering flaw and should be held responsible for the cost of therepairs.updated 02-13-08updated 02/13/08

No warning , the spark plug just blew out of the cylinder head with a loud bang while driving down the road. Ford motor company denied responsibility and placed the blame on one of it's dealers who previously had replace an ignition coil on a different cylinder. Neither party wanted to accept responsibility for the repair cost. This vehicle is used for business purpose and it gets expensive when it is not in service. After a week of phone calls and correspondence between the dealer and ford and getting no where i had a local mechanic repair the vehicle a my cost.

2002 ford f-250 super cab spark plug blew out of cylinder head. Just driving down the street and all at once there was a loud bang like a big hole blew out of the muffler. Shut the engine off, pulled over and tried to determine cause. Drove truck another couple of miles to repair shop. The repair bill was over $2,000. The repair shop states they have had at least 6 of these situations in the last 2 months. We believe this is a defect in this truck - the truck has 61,700 miles on it and it is too early to experience this kind of difficulty.

I was driving down the highway at approx 65 mph when all of a sudden i heard a pop and lost engine power.i pulled over and looked under the hood of the truck and observed a sparkplug lying in the engine compartment and the wireharness for it was torn loose.it was clear that a sparkplug had rotated loose causing it to come out of engine which caused sudden engine failure at highway speeds. The sparkplug which rotated loose, tore out the last 3 threads of the sparkplug hole in the cylinder head and destroyed the sparkplug wire harness.the truck was brought to the dealership on a flat bed truck.thecylinder head had to be removed and a helicoil put in to replaced the torn out thread for the failed sparkplug hole.all sparkplugs had to be replaced with new ones.a new sparkplug wireharness was installed.i observed that the ceramic portion of the sparkplug rotated independantly of the treaded part of the sparkplug body which would allow rotation of the sparkplug body independant of the ceramic portion.i do not have the sparkplug that rotated loose.

Sparkplug ejected out of motor on right side and another sparkplug on the left side keeps missing out because of oil in it.i can't keep fighting repairs i'm still paying on it.from what i'm hearing there is several motors doing this.i would like to see this problem solved please or ford can pay my tow bills.my cruise control quit working.i have a rumble in rear end when turning corners.i have had it looked at,different things fixed and no repair facility can figure it out.i work 60 minutes away and i can't keep getting stranded in it and i'm very tired of it.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 super duty.the contact stated that the bolts on the exhaust manifold snapped off on three different occasions.the failure was brought to his attention by his mechanic during routine maintenance.the dealer and manufacturer have not been notified because the vehicle was no longer under warranty.the vehicle has not yet been repaired.the current mileage was approximately 79,000 and failure mileage was approximately 30,000.updated 10/20/08.*ljupdated 10/20/08.

Approximately 5 days before the failure, i began to hear an exhaust leak. I kept driving my truck assuming it was just a small leak in the exhaust system. On april 29, the spark plug blew out of the head of my v10 taking the last few threads with it. The dealer says, best case scenario i need a helicoil repair, costing around $600, worse case scenario, the failure could cost me my engine. $1000's of dollars.

I have 2002 ford f250 with a 5.4l triton engine. The exhaust manifold studs are rusting and breaking off. I have contacted my dealer and have been told it is common problem. This is an $850 to $1000 fix. I am afraid that the exhaust gases may start something burning in the engine compartment and that the leaking exhaust is not being cleaned by the catalytic converter. If this is a common problem, why isn't there a recall? the replacement studs are stainless steel and are bigger so ford must know of this problem.

Well guess what, it's me again with f250 4x4 with the triton motor.got in it made it about 1/10 of a mile, it started shimming and running rough again and it died.i'm afraid to start it because of the spark plug ejecting already once and i'm afraid it's going to do it again and catch fire.ford if this keeps up u will have a lawsuit and you can bring in your big lawyers but i guarantee you will not win.

I had to replace exhaust manifold bolts at 75,000 miles and now i am replacing them again also.i have read all these complaints about the sparkplugs and the bolts burning into and i have had fords since i've been driving at age 16 which is over 30 years ago and i might be changing my brand because i am sick of the trouble.ford you need to step up to the plate, these are hard times for everyone but you need to take responsibility of these problems.

Spark plug ejected from #3 cylinder head.

While driving my 2002 ford f250 super duty (5.4l v-8) i experienced a popping sound from under the hood which increased in volume very quickly.i pulled over (on a busy highway) and had to be towed to a shop where i learned that a spark plug had been ejected.the repair, which was about the most minimal that could be done, cost me over $600.00, with no guarantee that this will not happen again.my internet research on this indicates that there have been literally thousands of these incidents involving ford engines.ford clearly knows about this, but does not acknowledge it, does not assist with the costs, and will not recall the engines.this is not just a very costly inconvenience - it is a clear-cut safety issue that strands vehicles on busy highways and has resulted in numerous fires.

Diesel emissions entering into passenger compartment of 2001 ford f250 super duty v8-7.30.is there anyone out there that has experienced difficult breathingconditions and or in general, sick, after prolonged exposure the ultra fine particulate matter contained in the emissions of diesel engine.

Two times it died while driving the third i was idling talking to a friend and it just died and would not restart.

I heard a sound coming from my exhaust and after looking over the exhaust i notice that i had some exhaust manifold studs and nuts that hold the exhaust manifolds to the engine heads had either broken or snapped off causing the exhaust leak i heard. After seeing that i had an issue with the exhaust studs i took my 2002 ford f-250 super duty with 6.8 liter engine to the dealership were i have my service work done and had 1 of the service technicians look at the issue. I was told at the dealership that ford motor company knew of the problem with the studs and nuts that was used when my truck was manufactured and knew of that problem since 1997 through 2005. Yet ford motor company will not do anything to resolve this issue. From 1997-2005 ford motor company used steel studs and nuts for attaching the exhaust manifolds to the enines on there 5.4 liter and 6.8 liter engines. That's a period of 9 years of using parts that were faulty for use in manufacture.the failure of these exhaust studs and bolts can and will cause the exhaust manifolds to warp thus the consumer having to replace the exhaust manifolds as well. Also with the failure of the faulty exhaust studs and nuts could cause engine problems like warped valves, or head damage, which could cause engine to blow or lock-up. I have notified ford motor company on 3 occasions and have met with the same response that they will do nothing to amend the issue at hand. They have a technical service bulletin that they have available which requires that the use of stainless steel studs and nuts in service for the 5.4 liter and 6.8 liter engine. As well as replacing the exhaust manifold on the affected bank(s), exhaust manifold gaskets.ford motor company failed to notify the consumer while the vehicle was under warranty so repairs could be made.

2002 ford f-250, exhaust leak developed just after 50,000 miles. Right side manifold had split. Ford refused to warranty it, even though it was only 4 1/2 years into a 5 yr/ 50,000 mile emissions warranty. There is a recall on the mounting studs that changes them to stainless steel. They have a problem with the factory studs rotting out. They also have made improvements to the holes in the manifold. They were enlarged to resist cracking. Both manifolds had to be replaced along with the broken studs. All old parts are in my possession. Otherwise the truck is in like new condition.

Two manifold bolts snapped off each side of my 02 6.8 liter engine. The rest are horribly rusted. The truck has only 37000 mi on it. There has been a tsb concerning this, but it is a huge and common problem. There needs to be a recall for the people out of warranty,as it does concern emissions and the leaking of exhaust gases from before the cat.

I have a 2002 ford sd with the 6.8 v10 with 42,000 miles on it. When i took infor a noise from the exhaust i was told that i had 4 manifold bolts rusted off and more where ready to break. I had the repair work completed at a cost of $3200 which i had to cover. I was told that this is a common problem but ford is not standing behind this problem. While they were working on the truck they found the power steering pump coming off and looking in to that it was found that a bolt was broken off in the frame. The repair shop told me that they have done many of them just like mine. I have owned 10 new ford products in the past 12 years and this will probably be the last.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph the cruise control failed to activate upon engaging. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and they stated that the brake pressure switch needed to be replaced. Nhtsa recall campaign id number 11v352000 (exterior lighting) was related to the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under the recall; however, it did not correct the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 102,746. Updated 8/5/13

The wiring harness for the injectors started falling apart. Dealer where i bought the truck new said they have been having problems with the harness. They said they have a new and improved harness that will not fall apart.

Within a total of 11 months the ford dealership has had to change outthe fuel pump to our ford f250.

Driving back from a duck hunting trip on a dirt road in clinton,sc when my 2002 ford f-250 super duty crew cab diesel caught on fire. The fire appeared to have started on the driver's side in the engine compartment. I lost a lot of personal items in the truck due to the fire spreading quickly not covered by my insurance. I have contacted ford several time but all they have told me is that there are no recalls on my truck and sorry for the inconvenience. The recent recall of 800,000 trucks ford recalled came exactly one week after my truck caught on fire.

When i took my truck in for service, the auto tech noticed a fuel leak near the fuel filter.agreeing with the tech that the leak was from the filter, i took the truck home and replaced the fuel filter.on inspection of the filter after installation, the truck still continuedto leak fuel.i determined that the leak was coming from a fuel return line, at a point where the line is held in place by a metal tab.i took the truck in to the repair shop, where the employees agreed that the leak occurred from the metal tab wearing a hole in the fuel return line.the repair then involved replacing the entire fuel line assembly (which includes brake, fuel, and any other lines that run from the engine to the rear of the vehicle) available only from a dealer.the old lines are available if they are needed.

Loss of fuel pump at highway speed.

The power steering fluid was leaking from underneath the vehicle while parked.the vehicle was towed to the dealer, who informed the consumer that the metal line that went to the power steering pump and to the braking assist motorerupted, and needed to be replaced.there was brake pulsation, the accelerator pedal was faulty, the steering was hard to turn during normal maneuvers, when the 4 x 4 was high off the road, the wheel turned and locked to the stopper, lunged, and the rear wheels spun around. *sc

Over a period of time the door ajar light would come on even though all doors were securely closed.dealer said this is the way it was suppose to work.now the door ajar light stays on all the time, the door remote (lock/unlock) stopped working and the gas gauge is always on full.truck is now out of the warranty period...

Inside door lock(4 door 2002 ford f250 pickup) control button(drivers side) does not open locks.only the remote keyless entry will open them from the inside.

When the vehicle reached approx. 25,000 miles, the drivers side door started to make a knocking sound. The sound travels and may seem to be coming from anywhere in the general area of the door and door frame. I was able to pinpoint the noise to be originating from the nader pin or latching device. A little bit of lithium grease seemed to solve the problem for a while, but now the vehicle has 45,000 miles and the noise is getting worse. After talking with several people that own the same vehicle, i found that they all have the same problem. This may be an alignment problem or a problem with the latching device, in either case i question the integrity of the door to remain latched in the event of a crash.

When pulling away from stop at a red light, truck hesitated, then engine just died.waited a moment, then restarted engine and it did the same thing.restarted the engine again and was able to return home.next day i purchased a new crank position sensor and have yet to experience a similar problem.

Driveline failure causing vibrations and a crack in transmission.

2002 ford f-250 crew cab - transmission temperature gauge always registers hot, even if the truck has been sitting over night. Ford service bulletins says this is normal. If this is normal, what is the purpose of the gauge on the dash? how can i tell if my transmission is over heating when hauling a heavy load? the gauge is not reliable. Ford tells me the gauge will register if the transmission begins to over heat. Well it's registering even when the transmission is cold from sitting over night! how can i rely on this??? ford tells me they will not replace the transmission if it is damaged from overheating. Well, i have no reliable way of telling if it is overheating. Why put a gauge on the dash only for show? why should i pay extra for something that serves absolutely no purpose if ford said it was normal.

I have a 2002 f250 super duty.when i come to a full stop, and then take off there is a feeling that something is slack in the drive train somewhere.you can feel a double bump kinda of feeling.when towing a trailer it is worse.the ford dealer said some trucks do this and some do not, but they can not find the problem, which i believe they think it is a normal function.

Transmission temperature gauge registers a temperature when transmission is cold. It registers the same if transmission is hot or cold.

I own a 2002 f250, 4x4, four door, off-road package, camper package, tow package, v-10,automatic tranny. When i first start the vehicle and place it in reverse, after about three seconds, i hear a loud "thump". Noise comes from a little right of center and in front of the dash.dealer cannot duplicate.problem happens about once every thirty starts.this started happening within a month of buying the vehicle new.

Coast clutch inoperative. *nlm

The hydraulic clutch failed, which made the gears difficult to shift. The hydraulic clutch failed, and transmission engaged when clutch was depressed.

Ever since new, truck has made strange sounds when loaded at 68 to 72 mph. Dealers mechanic couldn't find sound while under warranty. Now i have discovered sound is u-joint binding. Had to replace. Failure on road could be very dangerous.

Ford f-250 4 wheel drive.4 wheel drive system is faulty.seals on system go bad and cause lack of pressure to turn hubs to 4 wheel drive mode.very expensive to fix.complaints from many people i know including ford mechanics stating the system is of very poor design.

The seat belts come unbuckled when driving. This happens to the drive's side more often than passenger side. The belt come undone on highway, in town, just starting out or after an hour there isn't a warning before it happens.the speed of the truck also doesn't make a difference. But it is happening more frequent now. It started about 3 years ago but it is getting worst.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that the driver seat belt would not engage without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver seat belt buckle assembly fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,243. The vin was not available.

Dt*:the contact stated while attempting to use the front driver's side seat belt, the seat belt anchorage would not lock.the vehicle was not inspected.the dealer and manufacturer were alerted.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250.the contact stated while driving ata any speed, the driver side seat belt detached independently.the contact stated that if the seat belt were to detach during a crash, it could cause life threatening injuries.the contact located a recall for the seat belts (nhtsa camping id number: 01v227001 seat belts:front:buckle assembly ) but the recall was for the 2001 model and not the 2002 model.the contact stated that the vehicle should have been included in the recall because the consumer experienced the exact same consequence as stated in the recall for the 2001 model f-250. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 120,000. Updated 03/11/11

Driver's side safety belt intermittently releases and retracts automatically.i have had the problem since i purchased the vehicle new from the dealer.at first i assumed that i had not properly seated the male end into the female end.eventually, i developed a habit of seating the buckle and then tugging firmly on the belt to ensure that it was securely connected.the problem has persisted and upon bringing the vehicle in for repair, i have found that the warrantee is expired and i will have to pay for a new seat belt from the same company that sold me a faulty one in the first place.i believe that this is a safety issue and ford is apparently not concerned about the safety of their vehicles in this case.i have had the truck for three and a half years and have under 70000 miles on it.i have never had a vehicle that had this problem, nor have i heard of seat belt latching mechanisms wearing out.

On this date in 2010 my f250 sd had the left tie rod replaced along with a complete "heavy duty" front wheel brake service (including rotor replacement) and a four wheel alignment performed by a ford dealership. This was to address a severe shimmy and vibration that occurred whenever the brakes were applied. I'd consider the condition to be so severe that it was a safety concern on maintaining control of the vehicle at times. Today, 5/22/12 at 112,800 miles and less than two years after the initial repair i am experiencing the exact same symptoms again. I've done some research on-line and have found multiple consumer complaints of this vehicle from model years 2000 - 2003 with this complaint. Owners are having multiple occurrences of having to replace the rotors at a frequency of 10k - 20k miles. I'm taking my truck to the dealer in the morning for his inspection. With my personal experience and the number of complaints i've seen in my research i find it hard to believe that ford is not supporting any corrective action.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while exiting a residential driveway, the contact noticed that brake fluid had leaked onto the floorboard. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered that the frame exhibited corrosion.the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for an inspection. The failure was not reported to the manufacturer. The failure and current mileage was 74,000.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while stopped, he depressed the brake pedal and the pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard accompanied by a loud pop. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed brake fluid leaking. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f250 sd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the brake pedal traveled rapidly to floor upon engaging. The vehicle failed to slow down until after repeated pressure wasapplied to the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated the brake lines fractured due to corrosion. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the entire under carriage was completely rusted beyond repair. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

On my ford f-250 crew cab, all four brakes and rotors went bad and had to be replaced on 10-08-2009with 81,125 miles on the vehicle. On 11-10-2009 (one month later) i had to replace a caliper on the left rear axle. On 5-16-2013with 100030 miles (18,905 miles later) i had to install another new caliper and rotor on left rear axle and replace both brake pads. On 8-1-14 with 106,861 miles, (again with only 25,736 miles since last being replaced) both front calipers froze and ruined the left front rotor that will need to be replaced. All replacement parts used were genuine ford parts. I bought the vehicle when it had approximately 54,000 miles so i don't know how many times the brakes were repaired prior to me buying it. From the internet i see that many others are having the same problems. These brake parts are unsatisfactory. Not only is it unsafe when they freeze from vibration, but it is extremely costly. I feel that this is a huge problem and a recall should be made.thank you.

Brake issue- have had disk's on the front surfaced once in 20k miles and is in need to resurface again. I have a 3/4 ton pickup, diesel and feel the rotors are not vented to reduce the (heat) build up sufficiently. I feel this is a engineeringproblem that should be remedied. Will wind up in brake failure.

Vehicle was one month old when steering whel shook when brakes applied.vehicle now has 49,000 miles and again the same problem.both times rotors had to be turned and pad replaced.

Main brake line rusted through.catastrophic loss of all braking power to all wheels.sailed through a seven lane intersection.poor quality materials used that lead to brake line rusting.should have used stainless steel to prevent rust.ford denied product liability claim as "out of warranty".class action lawsuit should re-plumb all brake lines to be stainless steel.will never advise people to buy ford trucks.

2002 ford f-250 super dutycomplete brake failure, resulted in accident. Failure caused by faulty booster pump and master cylinder issues. Ford denies any issues with said components, a quick search on the net results in hundreds of similar occurrences. $1400 in parts to repair. Insurance would not cover "mechanical parts".

Both front brake calipers continuously rattled. They sounded like they were loose and felt like they were going to fall off.the noise stopped if the brake pedal was tapped. The dealer installed new rotors and pads, however thenoise persisted.

Brake loose power resulting in pedal fade and hard braking .the vehicle can experience extended stopping distance, also have change pad twice and rotor one time by the dealer and problem still reocurring. Please provide further information. Ts

I experienced a leak in the power steering hose from the powersteering pump to the hydrabooston my 2002 ford f250 while driving in the mountains pulling a 30ft. 5th wheel trailer. I had to use 1 gallon of fluid to return 90 miles. According to another mechanic, this is a common failure and is due to poor design and engineering this hose is carried by the local dealer and they indicated that it has a high failure rate. This failure results in loss of powersteering and power brakes.

*sc

Steering inoperative when pressing down hard on brake pedal.ford says this is a normal condition and have no fix.2002 ford f-250 with 7.3 diesel engine.

Unable to stop in a reasonable distance.while applying brakes and steadily applying more pressure to increase rate of decent, i get a hard pedal that you can't push any harder even with both feet.brakes will not apply enough pressure to activate the abs even on wet pavement, only on gravel or snow.i have paperwork from ford stating they have had a number of complaints and are "aware of the saftey concern" but are "unable to fix."fords teck line advised technition to "replace parts untill concern is fixed."i've been to 4 dealers.they have replaced the powerbooster and put aftermarket pads on the front with no effect.when i inquired about the lemmon law after several return trips to the dealer, they now say it's a "percieved problem", and print on the paperwork "no concerns noticed."at the last trip to the dealer the tech. Said he "saw what i was talking about and test drove a new truck to compare but said it was the same way.that means to me that they are still building these trucks even though they've failed to fix the problem.i first returned the truck with 3000 miles.i now have 36,000 and still no brakes.i'm afraid to drive it with a load.someone from nhsta or someone independent of ford needs to test drive this truck.please respond.ford refuses to do anything.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f250 super duty.while backing the vehicle out of the driveway at approximately 5 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed.the vehicle did not stop.the emergency brake was applied, but the vehicle still would not stop.the trailer that was being pulled whipped around and struck the side of the vehicle, which caused major damage to the truck and the trailer.the current mileage was 71,000 and failure mileage was 70,000.

Since 300 miles i have taken the truck to the dealer every 3000 - 5000 miles for the rotors warping, shaking during stopping, severe pull to the right unexpectedly during stopping, no brakes when it is raining or wet out. I don't feel safe driving this truck, i have so far been able to keep from getting into an accident by driving off the road onto the berm until i could get it stopped. The dealers turn the rotors and lubricate the calipers(???) since when do you put grease or oil on the brake components? this works for about 3000 miles and back to shaky and no stop again. The dealer now tells me that it is out of warranty and will cost over $1000.00 to fix. I pull a 30 foot camper mr ford, would you like to be in front of me during an emergency stop?i would like you to be there.

When applying the brakes hard as in near emergency baking the steering system becomes inoperable. Sometimes it feels as if power steering is lost, other times it feels as if the steering locks up.i feel this is a fatal design flaw and goes totally against all information that the use of anti lock brakes should be a "stomp-stay-and steer" process. I no longer feel safe driving this truck in heavy traffic.

Brakes and steering wheel shake when the brakes are applied. Consumer was informed by dealer that new brakes and rotors were needed.

When driving on icy or snowy roads the abs engaged, it stayed released for 3-4 seconds.this resulted in the vehicle free wheeling.as a result, the vehicle rear ended another vehicle.the dealership indicated that the abs were working normal.the abs released itself. The consumer requested reimbursement.*sc

My 2002 f250 4x4 super duty has the typical front end side to side shudder when brakes are applied. I bought this truck in alaska shipped it to montana, and noticed the shudder, took it to helena mt. Ford dealer and they replaced the front calipers and rotors. Same problem. I suspect the ball joints are defective, or the rotors are not designed for the weight of the vehicle. I am sure as these get older something will fail for someone and a law suit will ensue.this seems to be an ongoing problem.

Brake rotors and pads were replaced every 20,000 miles. The last timethat vehicle was repaired rotors, pads and calipers were replaced. Dealer claimed there wasnothing wrong with the vehicle.consumer purchased vehicle new, and at 23,000 miles consumer experienced vibration on steering wheel when applying brakes.vehicle currently is at 43,000 miles and still posses the same problem.*la

No accident. 2002 ford f250 4x4 short bed crew. Brake rotor warping all the time. Not driving through water while hot!

Brakes and steering wheel shake when the brakes are applied. Consumer was informed by dealer that new brakes and rotors were needed.

Pickup is a diesel f250, 2002, extended cab.brakes overheat too easily and rotors become warped.when running down hill and hold brakes for extended period it becomes nearly impossible to maintain control of the vehicle.pickup is designed to carry loads, and tow trailers, but this occurs with virtually no load.it is apparent that the same brakes are used on lighter weight pickups (i.e. Gasoline engine f250's) and the diesel version should have heavier brakes.i have noted that ford recognizes the problem in that they have been installing much larger brake rotors on their newer diesel pickups.i have had to purchase aftermarket brakes to increase the cooling ability to minimize this problem.first time brakes were replaced with ford rotors and same problem occurred almost immediately.date, number of failures, etc. Listed below are misleading as this is a problem every time i brake.ford service persons and parts persons just shrug their shoulders at me when i complain!!!

Vehicle had problems with the brakes. The brake rotors warped every 20,000 miles. It was also discovered that the ball joints were loose when the vehicle was being repaired. Provide further details.mechanic also found that lower ball joints where loose.*la

Warping of front brake rotors. Truck has not pulled anything heavy or carried a heavy load. Pulling to the left, and front end shaking during normal braking. Symptoms increase with braking pressure. Only 25,000 miles on truck. The dealer charged for repairs and would not cover rotor under warranty.

While applying the brakes at any speed vehicles shook.consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, andmechanicdetermined that the rotors needed to be replaced, and replaced them four times.however, problem recurred.

My vehicle has 34000 miles, it's a f250sd 4x4 diesel.when braking the front end shakes.this has been attributed to rotor warp.depending on the mechanic i have between 70-90% of the brake pads left.the vehicle doesn't normally tow or carry a great deal of weight.i think that there is a problem with the rotors or some mechanical problem that causes rotor warp so quickly.

Re: 2002 f250 5.4l s/d s/cthe same speed control switch failure due to normal brake usage as warned online and in ford's recall.i never received a letter for the recall, i discoveredthe information online.why is ford only putting a band-aid on this problem?why are they not fixing the switch or the master cylinder to solve this problem?cost, i'm sure.sad.

I recently purchased a 2002 ford f250 super duty pickup. The truck is equipped with a 7.3l diesel engine, automatic transmission, four wheel drive. A few days after purchase i found that i could not turn the steering wheel when the brakes were applied.i contacted the dealership and took the truck back to be checked. They said they could find no problems causing the steering problem, but did agree there was a problem. The dealership then provided me with a copy ofa service message from the oasis program from ford motor company that states "increased steering effort at low speed or while stopped is a normal condition with hydroboost or vacuum operated brakes. Therefore no service action should be taken." the problem arises when you try to brake and steer to avoid an accident. Braking and steering at the same time does not work! the brakes donot have to applied very much to completely prevent turning.is this a problem found on other vehicles? and is anything being done to correct the problem? do i have any recourse in getting the problem fixed?thank you for your help in this matter.

Shaking front end while driving on the hwy 55-65mph.also have a rattling noise and vibration while driving over uneven surface.

The power steering pump pulley popped off the pump shaft after a blowout of the left front tire on my 2002 ford f250 diesel pickup truck.the pulley appears to be pressed onto the pump shaft.i suspect a piece of tire tread hit the pulley or excess stress caused by the blowout caused it to pop off the shaft.the result is an immediate loss of steering.i am interested in knowing if this has happened in other similar vehicles.thank you, thomas huebner

Steering inoperative when pressing down hard on brake pedal.ford says this is a normal condition and have no fix.2002 ford f-250 with 7.3 diesel engine.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250 super duty.while making a left turn at approximately 10-15 mph, the steering made an unfamiliar noise.the contact was unable to move out of the intersection.within seconds, pins began to loosen from the gear box.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the shredding of the bolts caused the pins to separate from the steering gear box.the vehicle was repaired at the cost of $932.the failure and current mileages were 105,662. Updated 1/8/09the consumer stated he saw a bolt fly out into the intersection. The hear box was no longer attached to the frame. Updated 01/14/09.

I have a ford f-250 sd 4x4 truck.when driving on the highway, if i hit any potholes or bumps in the road the front end shakes violently and causes me to have to slow to speeds well below the limit.this has nearly caused me to wreck my truck or have some rearend me on the highway 3 different times.at this point the truck just sits because i cant figure out what to do about it.

I read that an investigation of ford super duty trucks handing problems after hitting a bump at highway speeds.it said that 2005-2007 had the problem but i have 2002 superduty crew cab that is also scary when you hit a bump at highway speeds.it can throw partially into another lane.

Total loss of power assist steering at idle.unable to back into parking space or align with trailer while hooking up.speeding up engine in neutral doesn't help.steering wheel just completley locks up.can't even turn it with both hands.ford says it's a "normal condition.

*sc

When attempting to make a right or left turn, the power steering failed intermittently.the consumer stated that when making a deep turn forward or when backing, it would become very difficult to turn and it was as though the power disengaged. Several ford dealers suggested that when a ford vehicle is being driven, one cannot apply the brakes and turn the steering wheel at the same time. *sc

Power steering assist hose burst at the fixing while parking the vehicle in the garage. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, who replaced the hose and the fixing.

Severe rust forming on fenderwells of bed on both sides.truck is only 5 years old. Complained to ford last year but i was 1 week past my warranty of 5 years 60,000 miles. Bed needs to be replaced because chips of paint and rust fly off while driving.my mechanic has the same exact truck with same exact problem.

Approximately 18 months ago i noticed rust on the inside of the doors at the bottom on the seam. The dealer suggested that i use a rust killer to stop this. I tried that with no luck. I speaking to ford dealers this is an ongoing problem and that i should contact ford directly.i have done this, but not received any answer.

My 2002 ford f250 diesel truck shimmies terribly periodically.i never know when it will start, but when it does it gets violent and i have to slow down to almost a stop.i am getting more and more apprehensive about driving it, and especially pulling my horse trailer with it.i have had several people look at it to see if anything seemed out of place.they always report they do not see anything.i have noticed on line that there have been several off.

Shaking front end while driving on the hwy 55-65mph.also have a rattling noise and vibration while driving over uneven surface.

36,800 miles went for an inspection sticker and it failed for both upper and lowerballjoints on both sides. They are very bad, well over an inch of "clunk" each way. Not noticeable driving. This is just a pleasure vehicle, light use and easy driving....very well kept truck for personal family use.

Vehicle had problems with the brakes. The brake rotors warped every 20,000 miles. It was also discovered that the ball joints were loose when the vehicle was being repaired. Provide further details.mechanic also found that lower ball joints where loose.*la

Dt: when towing a 5th wheel trailer27 feet and 7,900 lbs on consumer's ford f250 super duty, there was a problem with that much weight on the back the truck. It seemed to pull to the left and sometimes pulls to the right, thenwill quitand pull to the other side. This alternated in nature.also, consumernoted this occurred without 5th wheel trailer or without any tow at all.it seemed as though there were 4 low tires.consumer first thought the problem were the tires, andhad all 4 tires replaced.butis a problem recurred. Was not takento dealerfor this problem. Called dealer, and he recommended a change rear end lube.consumer complied, and there still was a problem. .infect, the oldremovedlube was very clean and new,. Consumer felt this was not even being used.no repairs weremade at this time.

Vehicle is experiencing a loud howling noise when driving at any speed. Rear end seems to go out on this vehicle every 30000 miles.

Dt: while driving the spare tire fell offontohe highway because the cable that held the spare tire to the bed of the truck broke.

The cable holding the spare tire under the vehicle broke.this caused the spare tire to seperate from the vehicle and fall to the road.there was no one behind the vehicle at the time so an accident did not occur.

2002 ford f250 super duty pickup.the spare tire came off while driving.the tire is carried under the bed and held in place with a steel cable and winch assembly, the cable broke that holds it in place.thank goodness this happened on a low traffic county road, this spare tire is heavy and could be a dangerous traffic hazard if it were to hit a car traveling on the road.my first thought was it was a random isolated failure but i have talked to another ford super duty owner that had the same problem.

Ford f250 7.3 power stroke diesel cps (cam position sensor) failure ...truck dies when coming to stop at intersection, also died once in middle of left hand turn, coasted over railroad track......repaired once while under warranty 2 years ago(failed 3 times prior to repair) repaired by me after last incident date 8/16/07 (failed once), replaced cps with new one(new part#.......improved part????????? i hope)this is a common problem among the ford 7.3 power stroke diesel, check out the web forums!!!! this could be dangerous because without the motor running there are no brakes (hydro boost runs off power steering)

After driving about 30 miles and returning home, the truck caught fire while sitting in the driveway - about 20 minutes after engine was turned off.by the time smoke was seen, flames were coming from under the hood and the right front tire was burning.the fire department put out the fire but the truck was completely destroyed.the flames spread to an adjacent vehicle and it too was destroyed.

Ford2002, f250 crew cab pickup, diesel, started on fire in the driveway on december 1, 2003, 4-5 hours after it was parked. I burned down our garage and the second vehicle that was parked next to it.the garage is not attached to the house.

Our barn and contents burned down on june 14, 2010. Fire investigators believe the fire started with our 2002 ford f-250 truck that was parked inside. Found out afterwards that there is a recall on the truck for a sensor that can cause fire even while vehicle is not running.

Cruise control recall switch: lead to accident involving brake failure due to leak of fluid and corrosion of components.........

My speed control stopped working in 2012. It is a ford f-250 super duty.vin [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My 2002 f250, 4x4, 7.3l diesel ford truck with 48,846 miles has had the third accelerator pedal installed at a price of $1186. Ford refused to do anything, even with ford service action 03b03 and even with a law suite pending courts approval. Customer satisfaction program 10b16. My truck dropped to idle in the middle of a left turn hauling a 12,000 lb trailer. It was a terrible start to a vacation to the coast.

The contact owns a 2002 ford f-250.while driving 70 mph, the contact noticed from the rear that the vehicle had a leak.within seconds, he noticed smoke coming from a vent and underneath the hood.he pulled over and had the passenger check under the vehicle, where he noticed dripping.the passenger proceeded to remove the contact from the vehicle because he was in a wheel chair.seconds later, the vehicle caught fire.a fire report was filed.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer twice to have the vin checked for nhtsa campaign id number 07v336000 (vehicle speed control), but the dealer stated that the vin was excluded from the recall.the vehicle was towed to a tow yard and the insurance company will have someone inspect the vehicle; however, they were unsure if the cause of the fire will be investigated.the current and failure mileages were 85,000.

Any range of rpm while driving & occasionally while idling my truck has stalled and engine dies.it has, so far, restarted quickly and i continue on my way. This occurs in heavy to moderate traffic and when the truck dies you lose power steering & power brakes. I have been told to replace my cps (cam position sensor) by a ford mechanic and i intend to do that today. My truck is not safe to drive in it's current condition of random stalling.

I received a recall in october 2009 for my ford f-250 pick up (ford recall 05s28)i took the vehicle in for repair and was told that the defective part (speed control deactivation switch) caused brake fluid to leak into the wiring harness and fuse panel damaging both to the point they need to be replaced.i was told that ford would only replace the bad part and not the damage it caused.ford repair tech told me defective part caused damage described above and after dealing with several different people from ford and customer service they still refuse to fix the damage estimated at over $2000.i filed complaint with bbb but they stated this item could not be covered by them as the vehicle is over 3 years old.i have been without the vehicle for over 2 months and can find no agency to help me.i tried several forms of recourse with ford to no avail.they state the recall was issued to long ago however the notice i received in october 2009 was the first i received on the matter.can you help me?

The contact owns a 2002 ford f250. The contact stated that the recall for the cruise control was recently repaired; however, the contact was responsible for paying the repair cost to have the cruise control switch replaced. The contact stated that fuse was replaced in 2007; yet, it continued to leak. He doesn't agree with having to pay the repair cost. The failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 118,000.

After having several instances of the failure of the accelerator pedal of my 2002 ford f250 crew cab diesel pickup truck, i asked the local ford dealer (jones-west ford of reno, nevada) to investigate the problems. The diagnosis was that on the diesel f250, there is an electric gas-pedal vs. One that is directly connected via control linkage; on my ford f250 the electric gas-pedal was experiencing an intermittent failure. However, because the dealer??s service manager could not replicate the problem (or admit that he did), the dealer refused to cover the part under warranty; a $ 100 part for a $ 45,000, 6-month old vehicle. Further, because the truck would not generate a computer code showing the exact failure mode, the ford dealership was incapable of diagnosing the problem, as their technicians are only computer-readers, yet they were aware that the problem existed by the disclosure that they had serviced 5 previous f-250 trucks with the exact problem with the electric accelerator-pedal within the last few months. The truck owner paid the $ 162.89 to the jones-west ford dealership to have the newer version of the gas pedal installed after the jones-west service manager (bud) refused to honor the ford warranty for the 11,700 mile-old vehicle.apparently a lack of integrity still affects the ford motor company not long after the ford explorer/firestone tire problem, which led to 100 deaths.ts

On december 19, 2002 at 3:30 pm, with the engine warmed up and the transmission indicating normal temperature, after having driven for 1 hour-problem free, i was coming to a stop sign in my ford f-250 diesel crew cab truck at the intersection of plumas and moana lane, in reno, nevada. As i tried to slow down, it became very clear that the engine was still engaged to the transmission because as i slowed, the diesel engine began to lug down and jolt the truck violently. The engine was accelerating, but my foot was off the accelerator and on the brake. To stop this dangerous situation, i slipped the transmission indicator into n for neutral and that stopped the acceleration thereby preventing a front-end collision and after a few moments the engine stopped racing.after a minute of idling, the truck was placed back in d for drive, and the truck drove normally. I took the ford f-250 truck to jones-west ford of reno, nevada to have the problem looked at. They diagnosed the problem as the electric gas pedal, but because they could not replicate the problem, the service manager, a bud, refused to have the electric gas-pedal replaced under warranty. I later learned from my service advisor at ford that this was done despite having received like consumer complaints from ford f-250 series truck owners concerning the electric gas-pedals. Ts

On december 13, 2002, at 5:00 pm, in a snowstorm in reno, nevada, ford f-250 diesel crew cab was stopped at a red light; temperature was 35 degrees, truck was idling normally; the engine was warmed up and the transmission indicated normal temperature. Upon receiving a green light, i attempted to accelerate but the diesel engine would not respond to commands from the accelerator-pedal. After repeated, pumping the accelerator i was able to get some acceleration from the engine to clear the intersection; 20 seconds later, the accelerator responded normally. I took it to the ford dealer but because the intermittent failure could not be duplicated, the ford dealership would not replace the electric gas-pedal despite having changed 5 in the last few months in similar f250 trucks. Mileage of truck 11,700 miles. Total time since purchased 7 months.

From a stand still when pulling into traffic accelerator cable disengaged from the engine.consumer pressed the gas pedal andengine was running, but there was no response. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, butdealer would not repair it because they could not duplicate the problem.
