Takata recalli was involved in an accident while driving my 2017 ford f150 on december 20, 2017. The driver air bag curtain deployed and trapped my head down against my left shoulder. The bag did not deflate, so i was forced to retrieve my knife from my belt and cut the bag open. The contents of the bag quickly filled the cab with white powdery smoke which i inhaled. I now have rough breathing while inhaling. I have been to my doctor and was prescribed azithromycin 250mg pak tab teva. This was a temporary cure, but the rough breathing is again present. Please provide the propellant name in these airbags, so i will know how to treat my problem.
Upon starting my vehicle on 2/1/20, hill assist warning, parking aid warning, abs icon, airbag icon, and traction control icon all lit up.called 2 dealerships on 2/3 and was told it was safe to drive.on 2/6/20, the passenger airbag deployed while driving, no impact, with my 11 year old in the passenger seat.

Nothing has happen, am just going by what recalls they send me, and i go to ford an they take care of it.
Air bags did not deploy during a front impact crash. I was traveling on highway 127 in frankfort ky when i noticed a vehicle in front of me hit their brakes going through a green light. I instantly applied my brakes to rapidly slow down, before i was able to come to a stop my vehicle made contact with the vehicle in front of me.
Dakota traveling 50-55 mph on interstate 95 hit ford traveling 20 mph near exit ramp causing ford to hit cadillac traveling 10mph causing cadillac to hit murano, resulting in 4 car accident. 2017 ford took brunt of hits due to speed of dakota. 2017 ford deemed totaled. Airbags on 2017 ford did not deploy, though sensors appeared activated--see photos that show lights on. All interviewed at bodyshop, insurance adjuster etc. Don't understand why air bag didn't deploy considering the speed of hit from behind and the force of hits on both sides, damage, and sensors activated.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving approximately 50 mph, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. The front end of the vehicle was severely damaged; however, the air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. 11/07/18 on hwy 295 lawrence nj head on with a guardrail at 65 miles airbag did not deploy
On october 3, 2019, a car failed to yield and drove in my path.i collided with another vehicle at 45 miles per hour with my 2017 ford f 150 xlt.i was traveling south at 45 mph and the other vehicle was traveling east at 15 mph. The highway i was traveling on a 4 lane city street that had a 45 mph speed limit traveling south.the other vehicle was traveling east down a 2 lane city street with a stop sign at the corner.the other vehicle stopped at the stop sign and proceeded to pull out in front of me. I am receiving treatment for my injuries.
For the second time in two months, i have had to return the vehicle to the dealer because a hose comes off the air bag.this causes an alarm and causes the passenger air bags to fail.this chronic failure puts the passenger at risk any time it decides to fail.if the driver does note the small light, they could operate for years with no passenger protection.this should be permanently fixed.twice in two months is a chronic failure and may be a design flaw..it makes no difference, it is that way moving, standing still or idling.
Rear ended car at high rate of speed on freeway. Other vehicle was traveling between 0-10mph. My vehicle was around 65. Was initially told airbag lights were on indicating they deployed. No airbags deployed in accident. My vehicle was deemed a total loss
I was denied service by team ford las vegas on drexel rd for nhtsa recall number: 18v568. The service manager informed me he had removed me from their system and he had the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime. I informed him this was for a safety recall and it needed to be fixed. He still refused me service. I believe his refusal was due to a negative review i gave their service department a few months earlier. I mailed a letter to ford motor co asking for their help to get the safety issue fixed on dec. 4th 2018. I have still not received a response. I have attached a copy of the letter sent.
Water is getting in the truck, wetting and staining the driver side airbag, and coming out of the driver side grab handle, running down the electrical instrument panel.this is most apparent when the vehicle is parked on an incline during a rain storm, with the front of the vehicle lower than the back.
The 2017 f-150 suddenly experienced electrical problems including; tailgate unintended opening, blis (blind spot information system) failures, cross traffic alert failures and rear camera blue screen failures. These failures occur at a statusof the vehicle, eg. Locking the doors, shifting into gear, use of key fob or proximity sensors to tailgate.
Moonroof binding up. It continues to try an open for a few seconds which could bind up motor burn it out as well as possible start a fire or melt plastic. It doesnt even open it just binds up an stops all the time an now doesnt open at all. Being ase certified and knowing enough about electricity this could cause a fire as it it is binding up if you continue trying to use it. This is a safety concern as it could cause a fire as well if you are driving and go to use it may make an awkward noise and distract you from driving at the time you try to get it to work. Vehicle was being driven at the time of use. An then i tried it stationary afterwards an then had to disconnect it. Have yet to fix it or have it looked at as i will fix it myself due to the cost.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the instrument cluster failed to illuminate and would not display the transmission gear shifter position. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,500.
Rear window blow out.i turned on my vehicle this morning to warm up. I turned on the defrosters and went back inside for approximately 2 minutes. When i came back outside i could smell a electrical type burning smell. I am a firefighter and am familiar with this odor. No smoke or flames ever present/visible. I turned then suddenly heard a loud pop, realizing that both sides of my rear window had completely shattered. The vehicle was not moving. No one was in the vehicle and i was the only one near it. Nothing hit the window and i had never had the smell in my truck before.
I've had to repair my sunroof twice costing over $3800.i've only opened the sunroof maybe 20 times in 2 years and now the motor is defected.i have talked to several ford techs and they say they see issues with the sunroof all the time.i have personal friends who have been driving down the road and their sunroof shattered.a recall investigation needs to occur please.
While driving. Vehicle loses all electrical and engine power without warning, a complete failure. Had towed to ford shop and could not be diagnosed and no fault code was generated.vehicle was returned without repair.a few days later, vehicle died again. No electric no power in the middle of road.i am i a wheel chair and could not get out.returned to shop today and am awaiting them to try to recreate the issue because no warning lights for codes are being generated when it fails.this failure could be fatal if within an intersection or other dangerous scenarios are present.lose of power to steering, brakes.all functions are lost that engine power and electrical power operate>
On 9-24-18 my instrument cluster went out, no gauges worked including wipers, blinkers, defroster. Had truck towed to the dealer and they did a master reset. Got the truck back a little over a week later. 7 days later the same thing happened all the gauges along with wipers, blinkers and defroster. The radio was out both times but that was not the safety issue. This time the dealer replaced a module. Got the truck back on 10-12-18 and it is working at this time. Both times the truck was stationary. 1st time was in my garage and the 2nd time was in the parking lot of the fire department that i run with..
The engine shut off and the truck rolled to a stop. Meanwhile, several warning messages flashed on the instrument panel and smoke began pouring from under the hood. I got out and looked under the vehicle and sparks were profusely flying.i walked away from the vehicle and the engine ignited within 5 seconds.the entire incident occurred within 10-15 seconds. The vehicle was totaled.
The ford f-150 multi function switch has gone bad. The windshield wipers stay activated in the slowest mode. This obstructs the view of drivers, and is distracting. The part number is: fl3z-13k359-ac. This malfunctionis an issue for 2015 models and newer. There are many videos online pertaining to this multi function switch malfuntion.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. When the vehicle was manufactured, it was equipped with a driver alert system. The contact stated that the driver alert system failed to keep the vehicle within the occupied lane as well as warn the contact if the vehicle began to veer into another lane. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but it was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer confirmed that the vehicle was not included in any recalls related to the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
Door latches repeatedly freeze during cold weather despite having been in for repair several times since the truck was new, including a service campaign designed to address this issue.the door latches will either freeze while the door is shut, preventing them from opening, or will freeze after the door has been opened, which prevents them from securely latching when you attempt to close them.this past saturday the door opened while i was moving the truck in the driveway, resulting in me falling part-way out of the truck while it was moving.they again froze that evening, creating a situation where i had to hold the door closed with my left arm.
Electrical : radio will randomly cut out. Typically when truck starts radio wont work. Have to either wait hour, or disconnect battery. Seems like typical issue.seatbelt : passenger seatbelt wont retract back. Can hand feed then pull out by hand. Called dealer said 3 year 60 thousand for warranty im over 3 years and at 71k miles. Price of assembly was over $500. [xxx] outrageous for a seatbelt. No idea when it happened.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The day after i bought the vehicle, the cross traffic and blind spot sensors failed. The dealership has been unable to fix the problem. Ford told the dealership to replace parts, but the parts are not available and they don't know when they will be.
The contact owned a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that while an authorized person was driving approximately 45 -50 mph, they noticed smoke emerging from the rear of the vehicle. The driver exited the vehicle and it spontaneously caught fire.the highway patrol distinguished the fire. The were no warning lights illuminated.the vehicle was towed to a tow lot where the vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The contact called the local dealer mossy ford 4919 (4570 mission bay dr, san diego, ca 92109 (858) 273-7500) but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The cause of the failure had not been determined. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
No break lights, backup lights, parking lights, turn signal lights in rear.
Digital cluster malfunction, causing speedometer and fuel gauge to both display zero, loss of power to windows, loss of parking brake function, blacked out backup camera, no heat or a/c. Highbeams stay on and cannot be switched to low beams. All happened while the vehicle was in motion on a highway at 60 mph.
The vehicle begins to shut down after gas fill up.it seems like the vehicle has a valve selenoid problem because everybody is talking about it online.it is a hazard because the vehicle will turn off while driving.i have also have had to replace the electric usb and power plug twice. This vehicle has alot of electric/gas related issues which cause it to turn off.
Moonroof jammed. The upr window is not capable of of sliding back. Rarely used and suddenly doesn't work.
Eastbound i-94 around burns harbor, in.high speed, high density traffic.high temperature warning illuminated on dash while the temperature gauge went to full cold.within seconds the engine lost power, forcing me to navigate to the shoulder of the highway.i was successful, but the loss of power and the resulting speed differential put myself and other traffic at a significant risk of collision.the vehicle was shut down and checked for any signs of overheating.with no signs of overheating the vehicle was restarted and we continued to our destination.the following day the problem was diagnosed by castle ford, michigan city, indiana as a faulty cylinder head temperature sensor; there was not a problem with high temperature.the sensor has been replaced and there has been no further issue.
My drivers door does not "latch" when i close it. It appears this occurs when below freezing. I see forums about being wet/freezing. Mine happens in normal cold/non wetconditions as well. The vehicle was towed to a local ford dealer for service, they told me they don't have parts come back next week, i did. They said there's no fix and they might want a water test. At this point i have no intention of being inconvenienced by their blundering and guessing. I told them to call me when they have a fix. I sell mercedes-benz products so i empathize with recalls however i am beyond frustrated that i drive to work holding my door shut. I have read many frustrating situations concerning this on the forums. It seems this has been going on since 2015. It is disturbing that ford can't come up with a dependable solution in almost 3 years. My vehicle is not on the recall list but i am having the problem. This is totally unacceptable.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. Upon exiting the vehicle, while idling, the vehicle lunged in reverse at approximately 8-10 mph. A pedestrian was able to get into the vehicle and stop the acceleration. The vehicle was taken to hemborg ford (1900 hammer ave, norco, ca), but it was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500.
Trailer blind spot monitor is turning on automatically despite no trailer being connected. Dealer has attempted two fixes with no resolution. When trailer blind spot is engaged it emits a false blind spot monitor light, which causes uncertainty whether it is safe to maneuver or not.
Ford f-150 moon roof ramp/guide jaw (part # fl3z1651070b/fl3z1651071b) stopped working. The moon roof malfunctions getting suck in the open mode, or failing to close properly if at all. Many ford owners have experienced the same issue, to the point that there are videos on the internet pertaining to this malfunction.while attempting to get this repair fixed at the ford dealership the employees advised me that they see this issue often, and that the glass shatters and breaks from this malfunction. I was quoted $400.00 to remedy the issue, and would have to leave my vehicle at the dealership for the day. The estimated time to complete the repair was four hours.
When the temperature goes below freezing, the driver's side door will not close.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the instrument panel failed to indicate any warning lights when the vehicle wass turned on. The contact had to wait for a couple of hours while the vehicle was off just for the vehicle to resume back to normal. Jenkins & wynne (2655 trenton rd, clarksville, tn 37040, (931) 542-4886) was contacted and confirmed that the vin was not under recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 17v053000 (power train, electrical system) as a possible solution to the failure however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 40,093.
F150 with electronic tailgate release will randomly unlock and drop open. This is happening at least 50% of the times i use my truck.i've heard the tailgate release be activated with my fob key setting on the dash board, no one touching it.i took it to the dealer today, 1/10/2020, and the service rep heard it unlock the tailgate while he was holding the key fob.he indicated there is a recall; however, it is not for f150's.. Only f250-450's.what really scares me there is no warning or notifications the tailgate has dropped down and is now open.i only know when i stop and see it down or the loud steady warning when i put the truck in reverse.so far nothing has fallen out but this is clearly unsafe and should be recalled/repaired asap by ford.this has occurred when operating on both city roads and highways, although, i'm not sure exactly when it is unlocked or drops open.this problem first occurred in early december; however, it was not nearly as frequent; now it is almost every time i use my truck.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that when the gear shifter was shifted into drive, the instrument panel indicated that the vehicle was in neutral. Additionally, when the gear shifter was shifted to reverse, the instrument panel indicated that the vehicle was in park. The contact was informed by an independent mechanic that similar vehicles were subjected to nhtsa campaign number: 17v053000 (power train, electrical system). The vehicle was taken to johnson ford (694 east st, pittsfield, ma 01201) where the contact was informed that the vin was not included in the recall. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.
After last sync 3 update restarted truck and touchscreen failed to work, or have the gps map shows up. Cannot program gps for directions apim failure only 41752 miles on truck.
Driver and passenger locks will freeze and they will not close or lock. Very dangerous.
My vehicle battery is dead every morning i took it to two different ford dealers and they could not tell me the issue but still had to pay for the diagnosis fee. At first my 17 ford f150 would make almost a jerking next day my vehicle would not start. I replaced the starter and battery and the vehicle started after that but the next morning dead again.
Vehicle suddenly lost its ability to monitor the blindspot traffic the stability and traction control went off tire pressure monitor field along with the airbag and seatbelt restraint. Take him to the dealer and was told there is a wire that runs between the spare tire and bumper a trailer hitch assembly that often chaffs. They had replace many recently.the loss of traction control happens to me during a rain storm and caused me to loose control of my truck.while i regained control and prevented hitting a guard rail, it was serious. This is no fault of my own it's an installation and assembly issue, and safety concern. As a 1st responder i depend on my truck, and must pay the $500 to repair a bad wiring installation on a 2017 truck, that could have cost me my life.
We are experiencing separate serious safety issues with our f-150:1. The capless gas tank system causes the gas shutoff when refilling to not stop at 'full'. This causes gas to spray in an arc for 3-4 seconds - covering both people and the ground with approx 16-24 oz of gas.2. The front doors, when subjected to freezing temperatures will open but will not reclose until the latch mechanism is c ompltwtely defrosted - approx 15 minutes. This means that during that time the doors are unable to be closed at all. Additionally, the rear view camera/driver information screen is 'shorting out', causing the camera to be 'stuck on' or the inability to toggle to navigation or features beyond the main screen until a minimum speed (approx 15-20 mph) is reached.
I recently bought a ford truck and just a normal day i was driving and the truck just power off i took the truck to a ford service they told me i still have extended warranty, they check the truck and told me that the issue was electrical throttle body snd that my warranty doesn't covered that malfunction, i think that a new truck with less than 51 thousands miles with electrical problems meaning that ford just don't want to covered what they don't do right
Engine stalls at stop (after letting up on brake and auto start stop re-starts the engine) followed by "hill start assist not available" error flashes along with other brake related errors; vehicle engine won't turn over/start unless transmission is put back into park.upon restarting all engine error/fault messages are cleared and things seem back to normal.today was the second time this has happened.the first time was about 7 days ago.this is dangerous should it happen entering an intersection.i reported the problem to livermore ford and they said that since it is intermittent without a check engine light on they cannot diagnose it.
I live in new hampshire and the weather is cold. I started my ford f150 truck today using my ford pass. The truck ran for 15 minutes. When i prepared to leave in the truck i noticed that it was cold inside. When i looked in the rear view mirror, i realized the rear sliding window was completely shattered. Upon closer inspection i realized the window blew outward and a yellow line x sticker on the right rear of the window had burn marks on it. The sticker was discolored to indicate that a lot of heat was directed toward it. The window was completely shattered around the outside edge. Also, i located a cover that had blown off the wires that run to the rear defroster. It appears that the rear defroster ran to the point that it overheated the glass and caused it to blow. I discovered that this has occurred in the past with ford f150 trucks and ntsa has received complaints. I contacted ford today and i am waiting to hear back from customer service
Ford f-150 door latch will not locks or close properly in cold weather and freezing temperatures. Using a bungee to keep door shut. Dealership said there is no fix for this because the vehicle has the most current recall parts. I believe that this can and will be a safety hazard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is not acceptable!!
I am having the exact same isaue as ford recall 17c01, nhtsa campaign number 17v053000 where in cold climates the instrument cluster doesn't work upon starting the truck. This recall is for 2017 ford f150s built in the dearborn, mi plant, but was not extended to my 2017 ford f150built in the dearborn, mi plant. This issues has happened on multiple occasions.
Very dangerous wiring design. Wire harness too close to engine exhaust manifold, turbo - as result - melted wires. Tin foil did not protect from melting. Happened while driving on 75 interstate -vehicle looses power steering, cruise control and throws faulty overheat. Contacted manufacturer about it - was given run around.
Backup camera does not work - when shifting from park to reverse, the backup camera fails to activate. This happens frequently - sometimes it will happen the first time the vehicle is driven (after being parked overnight), sometimes it will happen while driving around (i.e. Drive for a short amount of time, then park, then drive again - the camera will fail to activate upon restarting the vehicle). I have owned this vehicle since december 2017, and first noticed the issue about a month after purchasing. Dealer claims that they are unable to reproduce the problem. Comments posted online at www.f150forum.com suggest that this may be related to a failing apim module, and that this seems to be a common issue.
Tailgate opens going down the road, tailgate opens anytime i unlock the doors, and tailgate opens when remote is near tailgate with no buttons pushed.
I had my 2017 ford f-150, 22,681 miles, parked at a kroger grocery store. I started the ignition with the key fob and loaded my son. After i got in i heard my son coughing, smelled something burning and realized there was black smoke when suddenly the rear windows blew out inches from his head. I never even got the key in the ignition. I removed my son and called 911. The fire department discovered the rear window defrost wire had smoldered and melted causing heat and the combustion that affected the windows in the cool night temp. Towed to the ford dealership where they told me the rear defroster contacts had come loose and was the cause. They submitted pics and report to ford to await a decision if they will cover the damage.

The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. When the vehicle was parked overnight in cold weather, the fuel gauge, speedometer, weather control, radio, and odometer would freeze and fail to work. Occasionally, a "transmission not in park, emergency brake is on, service is needed" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to baxter ford west dodge (18505 california street, elkhorn, ne 68022, 855-494-0107) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 208,003. *dt
Adding photos to the first complaint
Went to grocery store and everything was fine. Came out of store and started truck and had no power steering. Along with error messages on display reading: service advantrac, hill assist fault, powersteering assist fault, also have abs light on and cruise control quit working. Steering is very hard to turn and makes truck very unpleasant to drive.
First event:while i was driving back from the countryside on a two way road ' single lane -, i overtook a big truck on an uphill area, and all the sudden my truck died. Lost all the power and i had to make an emergency maneuver to avoid the big truck i was overtaking and also the car that appeared at the curve ahead. It was close. I almost crashed. After calmed me down, i step out of the truck, opened the capot while the engine was idling and making this huge 'valve' noise. I took my phone and recorded a video. Some component on a side of the valve cover was moving and making that noise and all the sudden, i smelled gas, looked down the scape manifold and saw gas all over it. I ran back to the cabin and turned the engine off, took the extinguisher and ran back to the capot. Fortunately nothing happened.second event:while driving on the highway, with the cruise control on at 120 km/h, on a pretty flat area, the gear shifted from 10 to 7 with no reason at all, and i felt like the truck started to activate the brakes. The highway was clear in front of me. No car or obstacles were near the front of the truck. Seconds after that, the engine started to fail, dropping the rpms like those old mechanical carburetor stuck with a dirt and suddenly, all got back to normal. Fortunately was almost reaching the toll control to access to my city. So i slowed down to 50 kms/h, put my foot on over the brakes and started to press it very gentle. Suddenly and with no warning, the truck sped up itself full gas and i had to dodge a car that was in front of me driving on the line to the toll and press the brake pedal very hard. Several lights invaded the dashboard; low coolant, check engine, the dash board dimmer light and others that i couldn't saw on this fast flash of lights. It was like the cpu was crazy.after that, truck went back to normal, but several obd2 errors got stored.
Power steering went out, lane assist, hill assist, lane keeping it, braking assist have all stopped working. Abs light is on and i am getting multiple senor warnings.
Truck lost power steering assist while driving down interstate. And then i got message hill start assist failure, advance trac failure, electric parking brake failure, and electric power steering assist failure. All this while in motion at interstate speed.

I have 22,500 miles on this 2017 ford f150 3.5 ecoboost. It has started throwing a code of po4db crankcase disconnect. I have been researching and there are a lot of ford products having the same issue. This code make engine light come on and stay on. It appears it's in the computer system, is my understanding. Sitting still, driving it doesn't matter engine light stays on.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving approximately 50 mph, a fire started in the engine compartment and smoke emerged from under the hood. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. The police and fire departments were present and the fire was extinguished by the fire department. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a lot and then towed to burnworth zollars ford (309 w us-6, ligonier, in 46767). The vehicle was retrieved by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.
Vehicle will abruptly change first gear in the morningcausing a whiplash movement.after that first abrupt change it operates normally.also occasionally, while on a hillthe vehicle will turn off due to the stop/start functionbut it will not turn on.
While driving my 2017 frod f 150, 2.7 ecoboost engine with my travel trailer in tow. My engine stopped running as i came to stop at the end of an exit ramp. I was able to manually start the engine but it repeatedly stalled if i did not push on the accelerator. This problem persisted for several more stop intersections as i made my way home. I had been traveling back from a trip towing my tt and had maintained a speed around 65 to 70 mph. I had travel probably close to 200 miles since my last stop. Had no prior issues during my trip and at no time during the issue was i ever warned of an issue. No codes were stored. The only light that come on on the dash was the battery light when the engine stalled.
I bought 2017 f-150 platinum from levittown ford i own it less than 1 year and have now 15,000 miles on it. My problem first started around may of 2018 it was random happening off and on i was getting a grinding noise when i started the truck only when i stared in usually first thing inthe morning or if it sat for more than 6 or more hours. The problem got worse as the summer progressed i made my first appointment with stevens ford on 07/10/2018 after being told they had a back log of several weeks and this was the earliest appointment i could get. Well i picked up the car at night and the claim they did not hear the noise yet on the receipt it says due shop over load. So i made a appointment with the dealership i bought it from and the earliest date i could get was 07/25/2018 and they were finally able to diagnose the problem being the timing chain and cams as per attached paper work. I was without my vehicle for almost one month and now after picking it up i still feel a slippage in the engine as i drive it. Now after doing extensive research i have found that the 3.5 6 cylinder eco boost engine has had this problem dating back to 2004 and have really never fixed the problem. It usually effects the engine after the 60,000 warranty expires and i have rarely seen this occur in a truck as new as mine. I am fighting with ford on all avenues to get my truck bought back by them because i have lost all confidence in this product.
Engine rattled at startup and lacked power.dealership replaced a stretched timing chain stretched and cam phasers needed replacing, all under a tsb which was not intended for my 2017 f150... But for my15 and older.engine runs fine now, but ford customer care would not comment on it or provide clarification on if replaced parts are any different or better to prevent same issue.concern that timing chain could stretch and cause catastrophic engine damage next time.
The drivers side valve cover cracked with less than 17,000 miles. Ford would not replace as the warranty expired 4 months ago.
While towing with my 2.7 ecoboostthe engine stalls and dies after running on highway and pulling in to stop(usually at a gas station). It starts back up but dies when put in gear.i can only get it to run by revving the engine and quickly putting it in gear and giving it gas quickly. It seems to only do this when towing.
On 01-24-2019, i stopped at a red light and noticed an odor coming from my 2017 ford f-150 truck and saw some smoke coming from under the hood. A motorist next to me pointed to the bottom of the truck; i rolled down the window and he said he thought there was a fire under the truck. I pulled over, shut off the truck, saw a small fire on the frame under the engine. The other motorist put it out with a fire extinguisher. A state police officer called the fire dept. Who further extinguished the smoldering. The vehicle was towed. My insurance company sent an adjuster who concluded that the fire was caused by a failed pinon seal in the differential, which is part of the power train. The legal department of ford motor co. (office of general counsel) stated that the fire occurred because the vehicle was driven on pavement in 4wd. I assert that this is not true and is a tactic of ford motor co. To avoid honoring their product warranty or taking responsibility for a potential safety hazard.
We were stopped at a signal on a busy highway and the vehicle completely died in the middle of the road leaving us in a dangerous situation unable to escape the heavy traffic.a tow truck pushed us off the road until we could be towed. It turned out to be a faulty starter (truck has ecoboost).i contacted ford via chat, and they basically did nothing.our lives were at risk and they need to have their starters in ecoboost vehicles investigated.this is ridiculous to make a vehicle that can for no reason just stop dead in the middle of a road through no fault of ours.
Two different occasions i was driving 65 on the freeway, the engine compartment started violently shaking. The car lost acceleration and flashed the check engine light. Additionally i will be sitting at stop lights and you will get the same shaking from the engine compartment.
While accelerating my 2017 ford raptor 3.5 ecoboost i notice a loud chirping noise coming from passenger side. Caused by a warped and leaking exhaust manifold.
It is known that ford has a problem with the cam phasers on their 3.5 eco boost engine.mine went bad and were replaced under warranty in november 2019 and approximately 45,000 miles.now at 70,000, the cam phasers are needing replaced again.ford is refusing to cover this expense as my truck is now out of warranty.it is also known their cam phaser fix does not solve the issue, thus the problem is recurring.this is obviously a manufacturer defect and should be covered in full.this is a huge issue effecting the majority of ford 3.5 eco boost engines.why will ford not own up to this manufacturing defect?
Vehicle has 23k miles and blue smoke billows from the tailpipe on cold startup. The dealership replaced the cylinder heads and various o rings and advised that the smoke should stop after 1-2 weeks. It did not. I returned the truck to the dealer in 2 weeks and they inspected the truck for 3 days concluding that it runs "as designed". Blue smokes still billows from the tailpipe on cold startup with no apparent help from ford or my local dealership!
Like many, many other owners of the 3.5l v6 ecoboost f150 i'm experiencing a rattle noise when i start my vehicle. The noise only occurs when the vehicle starts, and only lasts for a few seconds. Online research leads me to believe it's related to the timing chain and timing chain components. At just 41k miles, i'm barely past the factory warranty period and will likely be forced to pay upwards of $4,000 for repairs. Here is a link to a youtube video that captures the same noise/issue i'm experiencing: https://youtu.be/bvs16u_uxmw
1. My raptor was made in 1/2017.2. It took lots of calls and fed ex shipment over night to the dealer and 5 days from monday to late friday to get the raptor back. For a couple of days ford could not say when the part would be available.3. It does appear the leak is fixed. No leak found after driving lots since late friday to this am.4. I apologize as i was too optimistic to think my problem listed above was fixed. 2.i drove the raptor after picking it up late friday afternoon home and around town and freeways over weekend for about 200 miles total. ( no off road riding, no 4 wheel driving, max speed about 75 mph, no stomping on tubes for extending periods). I checked for oil leak sunday am, and today- monday am-no leak. I turned on engine and left for a short errand after checking today-monday.3. When i came back i noticed a tire tread imprint and wet areas on driveway. I parked next to the driveway on pavers when i came back. I opened the garage to find a huge puddle of oil.4. The brand new 2 week old raptor is back at the dealers.i will update as i find out info. I think i have a beautiful red raptor lemon!
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving at any speed, the engine made a grinding sound without warning. The vehicle was taken to norris ford (410-285-0200, located at 901 merritt blvd, baltimore, md 21222) where it was determined that the sound was normal and no failure code was found. The contact was provided a rental vehicle while the technician kept the vehicle for observation. The technician later diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and promised to call the contact back. The contact was not called back. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The vin was not provided.

Rattle on start up. This truck sat for a couple of hours to over night and the engine sounded like a diesel for between 15 and 30 seconds.this seems to be a common issue with the truck engine the 3.5l ecoboost.a google search shows this is a very common issue and requires the engine to be torn down.the common problem seems to be the timing chain and timing chain tensioners.ford corp was absolutely worthless in supporting this repair.the dealer was absolutely wonderful.my truck was taken to the dealer on may 13 and i might get it august 16 or 17.parts were ordered on may 15 and estimated delivery was july 31.that's unsatisfactory!ford did not have any parts as there are so many engines being repaird for this issue.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving 75 mph with the cruise control activated, the vehicle decelerated to 30 mph without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in tsb: ssm46829 (electrical system: integrated trailer brake control). The vehicle was taken to eddie preuitt ford, inc. (710 us-31 hartselle, al 35640, 256-773-2578) where it was diagnosed that the throttle sensor failed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 14,000.
The contact owned a 2010 newmar essex rv hauling a 2017 ford f-150 raptor. The stated that while driving at 60 mph, he was alerted by another driver that the 2017 ford f-150 raptor, had caught fire. The contact stated that the fire started from the hood and grille assembly of the vehicle. The contact attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful. The fire engulfed both vehicles. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A police report and fire department reports were filed. No medical attention was received however, the contact stated that his cat was injured. Both vehicles were towed to a wrecking yard and was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The vehicles will later be towed to salvage yard for the insurance company to perform an investigation. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a complaint was filed with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 45,846.
Cold cranking noise concerning ecoboost system and lifters...making loud noise and i am being told it's normal...plus clunking noise underneath my truck that sounds like the motor or the drive shafts is going to fall out...i am also being told by dealership that this is normal...i know better...the truck is defective and unsafe.now they are refusing to address the issues.
At only 19k miles i developed a timing chain issue.its a known that the dealer tells me is perfectly normal.

My waste gate has malfunctioned then replaced but has been back 3x in 30 days with my check engine light going on and sending the truck into limp mode while driving.
Mvct phaser rattle at 60k miles.dealership wants 4-6k to repair the timing chains.
Today was the worst of the 4 times that this same situation occurred. I was driving in traffic on the highway in downtown atlanta when i accelerated and switched lanes to pass a slow moving vehicle. The truck accelerated fine but would not stop accelerating when i removed my foot from the gas peddle. I had to break hard to avoid hitting another car. As soon as i removed my foot from the break, the car engine revved up and accelerated forward again even though i was not touching the gas. This went on for almost 5 minutes and was very scary. I could have easily had an accident. At first, thought is was the cruise control kicking in but it was off. Each of the 4 situations occurred when trying to pass another vehicle. I reported the problem to my dealership back on august 12th when it happened the 3rd time. They could not find anything wrong. I know there is a very dangerous problem with my truck and need to find a solution before i or someone gets hurt.
Ecoboost engine, auto stop/start option disabled by pushing dash button. Truck shuts off when stopped at stop light like the auto stop function is still enabled but the engine will not restart when you release the brakes. Have to put the transmission in neutral and manually restart the engine using the key. This has happened to me on 3 occasions within the last week.

The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer (vonderau ford, 1912 n mechanic st, el campo, tx 77437) for the first oil change, the mechanic noticed that the oil pan leaked oil. The mechanic diagnosed that the plastic oil pan was cracked. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 7,300.
After towing for more than 300 miles the engine will die every time i come to a slow down or stop. It will restart only to instantly die again unless the throttle is pressed revving the engine and dropping it into drive. This is very dangerous especially towing at busy intersections when stalling out can lead to getting t-boned. This only happens towing and never gives a code so ford says they can't fix what they can't see.

Upon cold start vehicle blows blueish/white smoke for approximately 6-8 seconds then stops. Does not smoke while driving and vehicle runs just fine otherwise. Took to dealership and they said it was a pcv valve stuck open and they relaced it.....that didn't fix the problem.
At cold start, the vehicle makes a very loud rattling noise. Most likely the timing chain and tensioners which ford is very much aware of on these ecoboost engines.
Engine knocking on a cold startup.the knock is more easily heard from the passenger side of the vehicle.the knocking is the most noticeable for the first 30 seconds of startup.this occurs every day.the amount of knocking follows an increase in engine rpm.
Bought truck drove 40 miles home starting making ticking noise.called dealer said common problem took to dealership coundnt fine problem.tonight the motor blew up. Dealership not answering phone calls.truck only has 30000 miles on it.don't know what to do .technican said he thought it was the cam phasers but they didn't fix it
3.5l ecoboost engine died while accelerating mildly on a highway at 55 - 60mph.numerous fault lights came on, including service engine soon, advance trac, and various other.i coasted into a parking lot, placed into park, shut off ignition, and restarted.engine shuttered violently, so i turned it off and waited 10 mins.restarted fine.dealership replaced 'high pressure pump ring gasket due to deformation and suspected vacuum leak'.2 wks later, was driving 70mph on interstate and engine cut out again.very dangerous situation with 5 lanes of traffic and merging traffic.i coasted to a stop, turned off ignition, and restarted.again.. The engine shook violently and as i tried to pull further into median, the brakes could barely stop the truck from moving due to high revving engine.had to tow to another dealership 3 hours from my house!backlog will take over 1 month to repair!
Took delivery 5/8. Calleddealer service department5/17 to see about rough idle and a few minor cosmetic issues. Dropped off 5/25, service advisor called 5/26 to tell me it is blowing oil through the pistons and they are going to have to replace the heads per a tsb. I started research on the internet and found ford tsb 17-0007. Seems thatf-150s made between june and october 2016 might have this problem. The technician plugs the truck into the dagnostics machine and if your vehicle is one of the unfortunate ones, it either gives a code for head replacement or engine replacement.why are these vehicles waiting to be sold before checking a code? here i have a month old "new" vehicle that has been down longer than driven.ihave been communicating with ford corporate since 5/30 requesting either a new engine or vehicle. Replacing the heads should not be an option when a consumer has 400 miles on an engine. Should be getting an answer from ford in the next two days, but still, if i am forced to accept new heads, the reduction in value of the vehicle will be tremendous.

Driving from california to oregon through nevada on interstate when vehicle started to overheat nevada dealer would not even look at the vehicle. Informed ford motor company. Since 15,000 miles vehicle emits excessive burnt engine oil smoke from exhaust during initial start up.ford became aware of this march 19, 2019 under ford case cas17456883, vehicle now has 19,000 miles, and not fixed to date.additionally, engine does not comply with federal or state emission standards. Exhaust system, exhaust sensors, and catalytic converter is contaminated.
With the vehicle in park, with the weight of the vehicle resting on the transmission's parking pawl, or resting on the parking brake, when the engine is started, there is an intermittent clunk that can be heard. It can vary fromno clunk to a very loud clunk that can be heard from 40ft or more. This can happen when vehicle is hot, cold, driven short distances or long distances, on an incline or not.the 3 dealerships have reproduced the issue, but have called it normal or a characteristic. One dealership's service director says his demo vehicles make the same noise and that adding bigger tires and a lift kit made it worse. He also said and i quote "because its not abnormal, there is no fix". He stated that ford techline says its normal as well. The new ford pickups have there front signal lights between the two headlights. The two headlights are always on whether on low or high beem making it almost impossible to see the turn signal lights going.
No break lights, backup lights, parking lights, turn signal lights in rear.
The current f150 is nearly invisible from directly behind. The led running lights only make up maybe 2% of the rear end area, are far apart, and appear so dim from directly behind that the trucks are nearly impossible to see in fog or poor lighting.the tails like might look big enough if you look at it from a 45 degree angle, however not from behind directly.

While driving in local shopping center between store #1 and store #2 approximately distance of 300 feet, the front of my gas tank fell to the pavement while the rear of the tank remained. I contacted the ford roadside service which dispatched a tow vehicle the tow driver was able to raise the front enough to get my truck onto the tow truck. This incident happened at 5:15 pm on 12/21/2019 temperature at 70 degrees.
In motion the throttle body is very slow in responding to commands given to it by gas pedal causing unsafe delay in acceleration and unexpected minor increase in speed in stop and go traffic.
Vehicle has less than 5000 miles, and each time i enter my garage i smell gasoline. It appears to be coming from the "easy fuel" capless fuel tank filler. It has not been overfilled, and no fuel is spilled on the cap or near it in the bottom. Seems like gas vapor is exiting through the cap and filling my garage with fumes.

The 2017 f-150 suddenly experienced electrical problems including; tailgate unintended opening, blis (blind spot information system) failures, cross traffic alert failures and rear camera blue screen failures. Vehicle rolled forward approximately 12 feet while was in park in a parking lot until it stopped via going up the curb. Vehicle showed that the gear shift was in park and it was parked for approximately 5 minutes before it rolled forward. Am aware of other 2017-18 150s having a pin missing in the transmission but my vehicles vin is not included in that recall.
Wind noise is heard coming from both front doors. Dealer claims this is a known issue with the new aluminum body but they don't have a fix. The 10 speed transmission shutters at random.
4500 miles on vehicle, never towed anything, only normal city/highway driving, no long trips ever taken. Was turning left at intersection and transmission seemed to slip, truck still made it through, i then noticed that a yellow "wrench" light came on, i assumed this was for my upcoming 5k mile oil change. I didn't think much of the "slip" and assumed it was an anomaly. I then got onto the highway and noticed the truck was behaving strangely, power was inconsistent, i attempted to put it into cruise control and it refused to activate. I got off of highway and turned left at an intersection, starting from a complete stop the truck lurched forward and then slipped out of gear and stalled out in the intersection. If a car was coming i would have easily been struck. I let it sit for a few seconds and then the transmission finally got into, and stayed in, first gear. At first it went into gear and then slipped out of gear. This "wrench" light was apparently a limp home mode, another complaint, besides the stalling, would be the fact that this little yellow wrench light does nothing to warn me that the truck is actually in an impaired state, a "limp" mode. I work in the aerospace industry and this would never be tolerated, a function that hampers the normal performance of your vehicle should be easy to recognize as a warning, a little yellow wrench looks like a service light.
Vehicle was repaired by bob ruth ford in dillsburg, pa after finding an oil leak at the oil pan, the mileage was approx 8,500 miles. The vehicle was repaired and during another routine oil change at 15,500 miles the oil pan was found to be leaking again.
The latch on the doors of the truck does not lock when the temperature gets very cold outside possibly causing any adult or child to fall out of the vehicle while moving or parked , this is a concerned and safety issue for any ages . Also car makes rattle noise and at times shut off and recently having oil leak .is a 2017 it shouldn't have any problems .
At 31k miles i started to get a clunking noise in the right side rear. Took it to dealer, they checked it out and said it was due to play in the axle bearing. They said ford told them not to touch it because it was an inherent characteristic of the vehicle. I called ford and they told me the same thing. I filed a complaint with the bbb and ford told them there is no problem. When the truck flexes ( goes over uneven roads ) it sounds like rocks are bouncing around the bed. I was told by ford that this does not happen to all trucks, just some. The dealers hands are tied. Ford will not recognize that there is a problem.
Original problem was transmission slamming into gear and slipping when accelerating.the truck was kept at agency for 21/2 weeks.service manager told me that ford instructed him to quit working on it.problem of slipping still exist and recentlythe vehicle jumped out of gear when i was merging onto the interstate,i do not feel safe driving this vehicle.
The 2017 f-150 raptor has 31,000 miles on it. In the last 5000 miles the trucks10 speed automatic transmission has started to shift up and down with abruptness. The shift is noisy and harsh to the point that the whole truck jerks and lunges forward when shifting from park to drive. The transmissions also shifts down real hard so as to cause the passengers the feeling that the truck has been rear-ended by a another vehicle. At this point the transmission is slipping and taking a left turn on a flashing arrow intersection is very dangerous. Ford says this is a normal behavior of the truck although for the first 25,000 miles none of the transmission issues existed. This is a continuous problem.

While driving at 40-50 mph my truck encountered a harsh roaring sound as if it was going off the road. I had also encountered hard shifting from 4 to 5 and 6 gear. When i attempted to contact the local dealership. I was told that it would be 3 weeks before they could look at the vehicle. I took the truck to a local ase certified mechanic and he was able to determine that the torque converter was bad. The truck was purchased in 2017 with 6000 miles as a certified pre owned ford truck with 100k warranty. I have 98k and need to have this issue resolved immediately.
Transmission roughly shifts into drive from a parked position and while driving harshly shifts under acceleration and deceleration, creating a loud clunking noise under the vehicle.
2017 ford-f150 10 speed transmission, shifts harsh, at lower gears. Most recently 8/2/2020 this vehicle lost engagement without power to accelerate into gear after pulling out in front of fast moving traffic. This is the 4th time this vehicle has been in for the harsh shifting almost causing whiplash to myself and passengers. This is the 2nd time in july-2020 this vehicle was in for the loss of power, engagement unable to accelerate into gear and harsh shifting.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle went into 4-high mode and failed to disengage. The check drive train warning indicator was illuminated. Additionally, there was an orange warning indicator illuminated. The contact shut the vehicle off and the vehicle reset itself. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (folsom lake ford, 12755 folsom blvd, folsom, ca 95630, (916) 353-2000), but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where diagnostic testing was performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: cas15183721. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 16,172.
The vehicle has a very noticeable vibration at 45 mph coming from the rear end . The vehicle has been into the dealer 6 times now. The mechanic that went on a ride with me stated yes that he' agrees it's there but that there is no fix from ford yet.
When shifting into 4 wheei drive i hear a loud "clank" even when parked. In parking lot if i put it in 4 wheel drive wait a second before shifting into drive but when i put it in drive to start moving "clank" now my 4 wheel drive is inoperable.
Traveling down my driveway, coming to a stop and the transmission gets stuck in 3rd gear. It won't down shift into 1st gear so it won't move forward. I put the shifter into reverse and i am able to back up. Put shifter into drive and still stuck in 3rd gear. Back up to my house and park the truck not able to go anywhere.go into the house wait a couple of hours and then try it again and everything is okay.this has happened to me 3 other times.
My 2017 f150 xlt with less than 23,000 miles has had its oil pan totally replaced for the second time due to gasket problem. First failure was at approximately 7,000 miles. The repairs were done under warranty but it is a reoccurring problem with this model year on lots of other owners trucks. Even ford dealerships who follow the repair work instruction have gotten the trucks back into their shop for reoccurring failures. Both leaks were caught during regular inspection and at normal oil changes done by the authorized ford dealership. This is an significant and expensive repair for a new truck. I am a very concerned owner worried about even more failures in the future. Why no permanent fix or recall?
The transmissionis lagging in betweengears almost like it's slipping in gear
Slopping shifting. Lunges forward at slow speed shifting. Hard down shifting at times.
While driving and accelerating a loud screeching noise would occur. It would happen once speeds of greater then 30mph. It was coming from the front driver side tire well. It turns out it was a bad iwe solenoid. After doing research this is very common among f150s.
Driving from california to oregon through nevada on interstate when vehicle started to overheat nevada dealer would not even look at the vehicle. Informed ford motor company. Continued to oregon and then on to bozeman montana. Vehicle is now at bozeman ford having the motor dismantled for diagnosis. Was told there is a issue with the number one cylinder, ford corporation has not been of any help what so ever.
Why is nothing being done with the ford 10r80 transmission and the shifting issues.i would hate to have my transmission lock up on the highway, because ford says it's normal for the loud clunking and banging when is shifts i see there are many class action suits involved in this issue but still ford is doing nothing
Bought truck drove 40 miles home starting making ticking noise.called dealer said common problem took to dealership coundnt fine problem.tonight the motor blew up. Dealership not answering phone calls.truck only has 30000 miles on it.don't know what to do .technican said he thought it was the cam phasers but they didn't fix it
Vehicle is presently out of service for it's 3rd repair attempt of the same transmission related non-conformity and has been so for greater than a cumulative 30 days as of 10/4/17. The same safety issues occurred under identical driving conditions multiple times while traveling on the highway. While in motion on the highway at approximately 65 mph the vehicle's 10 speed automatic transmission locked up in 7th gear. At the exact time this defect occurred the 'check engine' alarms and dashboard lights sounded. Thereafter, the vehicle was unable to downshift or upshift from 7th gear no matter what speed. Then vehicle engine stalled completely once maneuvered to an exit ramp and slowed to a point where 7th gear could no longer sustain forward operation. There is a documented 1st repair attempt appearing to be the identical issue but was made prior to my taking possession of the new vehicle. The second occurred on 8/29/17 at 427 miles on vehicle. And the 3rd on 9/14/17 and has been in service through present day. To date repair attempts have included in chronological order: replacing "all 4 speed sensors to transmission and the transmission internal harness"; replacing "tcm - transmission control module"; and in progress (incomplete) replacing the tcm "harness". The first two repair attempts had zero positive effect on the safety related non-conformity, and the 3rd 'in-progress' still has yet to be completed past the 30 days out-of-service period.
I stopped on level ground, put the transmission in park and stepped on the emergency brake.i exited the vehicle for a minute to perform a minor task.i left drivers side door open and the engine running. The end gate was down. I turned around to renter the truck but it had moved off the level ground and was going down the hill in reverse.it continued until it hit a pine tree.no one was in the vehicle.
.last sunday i got a 2017 f150 xlt stuck in a small two foot snow drift.once i got stuck i tried rocking the truck, but the transmission would not shift from forward to rear ward without the truck coming to a complete stop.after several attempts i got a fault warning for the limited slip diff. The warning for the power steering, the abs, the parking brake, the hill descent, hill start assist, park assist warning (which i do not have), advanced track warning (which i do not have) and 4x4 low.additionally the truck would shift in and out of 4 high, but not 4 low.in 4 high no tires would move.in two high only the left rear tire would spin.because of darkness and grizzly bear i had to wait until morning to walk out far enough to get cell reception.the temp never got below 34 degrees, but it did rain and snow all night.when the tow truck pulled me out of the drift (a total of 10 feet) everything except the power steering worked.it was not until the 3 rd day when the power steering suddenly started to work.the dealer will not see me until next week and i am afraid i will loose all the fault codes by then.its great to have a 4x4 that only works on dry ground.had this happened in the winter or further away from cell phone coverage it could have proven to be a life threatening situation
The contact leased a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated thatthe driver's door failed to shut and the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. Additionally, an abnormal grinding noise was heard coming from the transmission while idling. The vehicle was taken to andy mohr ford (2713 e main st, plainfield, in 46168, (317) 839-6541), but they were unable to duplicate the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 1,450. The vin was not available.
Transmission was shifting erratically, making it difficult to keep the proper speed on the thruway. Once i was able to pull over, the reverser gear stopped working, creating a hazard while i was trying to park in a busy parking lot. I am taking the car in this week to see what the issue is.
I own a 2017 ford f150 4x4 with the 3.5 ecoboost engine and the 10 speed transmission. A few days after we brought the truck home, we noticed a very loud clunk that would happen when the engine is started. We have taken the truck to multiple dealerships and all have said that the clunk is normal and that its just the transmission "loading up".this same clunk is also happening on 2018 f150s as well, with the 6 speed transmission and the 10 speed transmissions. I am concerned that this issue is going to affect the long term safety of the vehicle, since metal striking metal is never a good thing when it comes to automobiles. Here is a link to the ford f150 forums where multiple owners have reported the same issue on 2017 and 2018 f150's: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/single-clunk-when-starting-engine-383628/index7/here are some video links i posted on youtube, the first is of a 2018 f150 4x4 i rented while on vacation may 2018, v8 10 speed transmission. The second video is of my truck making the same clunk, which can be heard from a distance (you might need to turn up the sound on this one). The 3rd video is my truck as well, note how the driveshaft moves on engine start. The 4th is my truck parked on an incline resting on the transmission. Note that the driveshaft doesn't move, but the clunk can still be heard. Https://youtu.be/uyiia29xt68https://youtu.be/5fgkiolhceuhttps://youtu.be/pecoo6abv3ahttps://youtu.be/o8u0sdnags0

Ford recalled 1.4 million trucks for the lead frame. Models effected were 2011-2013. This 2017 model was also effected with a defect in the lead frame but not on recall list. Parts are back ordered. Truck would not downshift below third gear even at a complete stop.
Loud clunking noise when accelerating from a stopped position at stop sign. It's jerky and sounds like something is slipping.
The transmission has failed two times. The 10r80 transmission is known to shift erratic and cause the truck to randomly pick gears. It will also render the gas pedal useless. This will cause you to be unable to accelerate into the flow of traffic. It will hold a gear and then slam into the next gear and sometimes it will stay in 3rd or 5th and try to start off that way. Its a very dangerous issue. The first time my transmission went out it took ford over a month to get it going again. Now it is in the shop for the same issue and it has been there for over three months and is still there.
Grinding noise coming from 4wd hubs, locking hubs are engaging during operation at cruising speed 20-35 mile per hour. In 2wd, driving my vehicle, at no given time a grinding noise will announce itself and cause damage to the 2wd/4wd hubs. I believe with this issue if the 4wd officially engages while operating the vehicle fatal injury and damage may occur and can cause operator to loose control of vehicle causing a crash and or death.
Lower engine oil pan gasket and front timing cover both leaking oil. Noted during oil change. Vista twin panel sunroof / moonroof cables in track assembly stuck, motors burnt out.attempt to open roof while car was still, roof partly opened, motors made noise as if trying to slide open but were stuck. 30 seconds (approx) of noise then silence. Buttons to close are not functional, button to open causes small movement in panel to lift up and down, then stops. Moonroof is stuck slightly down and open.
Car randomly slips out of gear while driving. Will then try to accelerate after braking and truck slams into first gear rocketing you forward and disrupting driving pretty violently. Sometimes it is easy to get off the road and other times it is extremely dangerous. Generally once i turn off the engine and start it again it is ok for a while. But this is no way to drive and not safe with my kids riding with me. Luckily i drive mostly around town and not on and off highways!this has happened multiple times over the past year. Truck has been in for recalls but no help. Going back in now to see if they can actually 'find' the problem!
Transmission will stick and not change gears. Like a dead spot and truck would not go faster. This has happened several times.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact was informed by a friend that saw on the news that the vehicle year, make and model had rusting to the driveshaft and hanger bearing. The contact examined his vehicle and saw that the driveshaft and hanger bearing were rusted. The contact informed the manufacturer who then informed the contact that they were not aware of the failure and to take the vehicle to a ford dealer for diagnosis. The contact took the vehicle to ed sherling ford inc (805 glover ave, enterprise, al 36330) however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 58,264.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v053000 (power train, electrical system). The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. After the vehicle was serviced, the contact was informed that the software was corrupted and the vehicle was inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,801.
The 10-speed transmission has had issues smoothly transition gears since i acquired it in early 2017. For years i have dealt with constant rough shifting, random clunking while driving at low speeds but now the issue seems to have progressed to the transmission sticking at higher speeds. I was driving recently at about 45mph and rpms just started roaring and it would not transition gears. The truck was in drive when this happened. When it finally did grab there was a hard thrust and threw the vehicle forward. These issues are present all of the time. Every time i put it in gear there is a clunk and a thrust. I have had the truck into the dealer numerous times over the 4+ years only to be told it was the adaptive transmission trying to learn how i am driving. Now, the dealer is so backed up with transmission-related issues they require you to leave your vehicle for 7+ days before they can even look at it leaving the consumer stranded without a vehicle. They should have all of the service records.
Vehicle lost all power while accelerating thru an intersection. The orange wrench illuminated on the dash with "check manual". I noticed the transmission not shifting down and up smoothly. It tried to start the truck off in 5th gear from a stop. After being shut down for an hour, the issue went away. Dealer scanned it this morning and said no code was stored.
I have been driving for 56 years, when i get out of an automatic vehicle i put it in park even with the motor running. On 4/5, i parked my truck (city government vehicle) motor running, to put raingear in my personal vehicle. I placed the truck in park opened the driver's door, grabbed my jacket and walked to my personal vehicle (15 feet away) and placed the jacket inside. I then walked back to my city truck, opened the passenger door got my rain slicker from the floor board, carried the slicker to my personal car and put it inside. I walked back to the truck, shut the truck's passenger door, walked towards the back of the truck to get to the driver's side. The truck had been completely stationary to this point and at this moment drove itself forward into a parked vehicle in front of it. I was not in the vehicle. Damage to both vehicles was minor. The truck's gear shifter was in "d". A police report was made. One would naturally assume it was driver error and the vehicle was never in park. I too doubted myself until i discovered ford's recall of 2017 f250 trucks. I make this complaint to you, the nhtsa. A coworker witnessed the entire incident and reported it to the police. The city truck was stationary for over a minute, and after repeated attempts from the exact location of the incident, i cannot leave the vehicle in drive without the truck moving forward ...
Deflector ford part number 8327 tore and is rubbing against power steering and transmission coolant hoses at 19,127 miles. Ford says this is not covered by warranty.
My 2017 ford f150 has problems with the transmission, but ford motor company has refused to honor the powertrain warranty and will not authorize the dealership to repair or replace it.the details of what has happened are described in one of two pdf files that i will attach to this submission.i believe that the problem i am having may be widespread and that ford dealerships all over the country may be refusing to repair or replace defective transmissions because ford motor company will not authorize their dealerships to do this warranted work.one of the problems i have had with the transmission is in my opinion potentially dangerous and lethal.on december 24, 2019, while merging on to a busy highway from the on-ramp, with the transmission in sport mode, my truck did not accelerate as i entered the lane adjacent to the on-ramp.when i stepped on the gas pedal, the rpm dial went up to about 6000, but nothing happened.the speed of my truck did not increase, causing the vehicle behind me in this lane to almost rear-ended me.had this other driver not been paying attention and failed to apply his or her brakes, a serious accident could have occurred.although the dealership has been very cooperative and has even offered to replace my vehicle with a newer and more expensive one (which i declined), ford motor company (with whom i have traded emails about this) appears so far to be unconcerned and content with the concept that an apparently defective transmission in at least one (possibly millions) of its f150s could compromise the safety of its driver.i am deeply concerned.
The automatic transmission shifts abruptly up and down through gears causing the truck to buck and jerk. When driving the transmission will jerk the truck forward and backward. This is occurring on city streets while in motion. The truck has approx. 50k miles on it and this started happening in january.
2017 ford f 150 5.0 6 speed 4x4 transmission failed at 93000 miles in february 2021. Torque convertor was replaced. August 13 2021, vehicle went into limp mode at highway speed and slammed into low gear causing a sudden slow down on the interstate. Wrench light was on and no gear selector indicator working. Was able to drive to dealership for diagnoses but no time availability until october 2021 or mid november 2021. Vehicle towed to aamco and diagnosed with range sensor issue. Cannot order part due to being on back order. Suggested repair is full remanufactered transmission with 3 year 100k warranty. Vin number is not identified as being part of latest tsb or extended warranty coverage for this issue.
Vehicle makes vibration style noise from the rear right side during speeds of 40-50 mph with minimal acceleration and/or during low rpms. Vehicle was taken to 2 different dealership service shops on 4 occasions during the warranty period who all claimed it was a normal sound. Researching online during that time was pointing to potential misalignment in the rear-differential during manufacturing. Condition can be replicated during driving conditions, between speeds of 40-50mph, light application of gas pedal and during low rpms. Condition existed from time of purchase through present day.

The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the transmission coolant line was leaking transmission fluid. The contact stated that the fluid was spraying up underneath the engine and the passenger's side front wheel well and axle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer don gasgarth's charlotte county ford 3156 tamiami trl, port charlotte, fl 33952, 888-313-9652. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired due to the part not being available. The manufacturer had not yet been contacted. The failure mileage was 64,000.
My new f-150 front differential leaks. When trying to slow down vehicle i can hear knock sound and around front axle and sudden decelerate.
Would not tow the recommended weight.tsc came on, almost wrecked, another vehicle did.transmission and rear axle malfunctioned.towing didn't work in town on flat terrain in houston texas.took truck back to dearlers they agreed.
I just bought this 2017 f150 from deacon jones ford and 4 months later i'm having transmission issues. After driving for a little distance, when i stop and start driving again i notice the rpms go crazy and it won't shift out of 1st gear and all of the sudden it goes to 5th gear and jerks and goes back to 2nd gear and slowly goes up. I just have the transmission fluid changed at the dealership and two weeks later this starts. I tried researching it and notice ford has some issues with 2017-2019 f150 transmissions. So i looked to see if this truck had already been inspected with the same issue and if it was fixed. I'm about to go on a 10 hour drive to tdy to a military base and i need to know if it's safe to drive and won't go in limp mod. Thanks joseph
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the vehicle drifted to the left and right while driving. The vehicle was taken to sheehy ford lincoln of richmond (10601 midlothian turnpike, richmond, va 23235, (804) 293-2212) to be diagnosed and the electronic power steering assist codes were located. The dealer replaced the steering gear and the entire steering column. Also, during another visit, all four tires were replaced and three alignments were performed between dealer visits. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer due to a rear differential failure. The contact stated that the dealer was reluctantly checking the steering again. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 4,000.

I received a safety recall letter (nhtsa recall 18v-568) and tried to make an appointment, but i have been told i need to leave my car at the service for a day and they cannot provide a replacement car. I cannot stay without a car the entire day. This should be the manufacturer's responsibility...
Driver side airbag did not deploy on a frontal crash. My daughter was driving hwy 583 in wilkinson county ,mississippi when the vehicle went off the pavement striking two large trees.*dt
The seatbelts in the back seat are installed to high causing the belt to cross over the neck which is a safety concern in individuals 5 feet 4 and less which can paralyze an individual on impact. The seatbelt is not adjustable unlike the front seatbelts. Icontacted northside ford in sa and they did not any accessories. This is a high safety concern. This is a concern for my 14 year old son.
Vehicle was involved in a collision wherein it "t-boned" a vehicle stopped across a roadway at 60mph.i was traveling straight in the left lane of a divided highway. The steering hub airbag did not deploy, and the shoulder harness did not prevent me from striking the steering wheel hub , which failures resulted in breaking my sternum.i also received a whiplash.
I was sent a recall notice, went to sunnyvale ford to talk to them about service and they were very rude and blew me off. They blamed ford corporate and said it wasn't their problem. They were very inflexible about dropping off my vehicle and were confrontational at the service desk and when going to drop off the vehicle. There were no instructions on the recall notice about how to engage them properly. Now i've had to drive my vehicle for extra time in an unsafe state and am trying to coordinate another dealership to drop it off at.
I called gillespie ford in gurnee illinois 7 weeks prior about a seat belt pre-tensioner that could cause a fire i was told they would be able to get it in the following monday as i called in the previous wednesday they said the following wednesday at the latest i have called multiple times since and i spoke with a gentleman and service today december 5th 2018 and was told i will have to wait two months because they are too far behind i contacted ford customer service and was told they will back there dealership and they will not help me seeing how this is a safety recall i am very concerned about driving my vehicle that i purchased january 6th 2018 i told the gentleman at gillespie ford my concern and i was told that is not his problem i would just like to notify you about this for the fact that it is a safety recall
I purchased a certified used ford f150 from fullerton ford in somerville, nj 3/13/2020.there were multiple repairs to be made on the vehicle prior to me taking possession that were not completed.i later found out that the vehicle was also subject to recall 18v-568 which was also not completed.the dealership refused to do any of the work they agreed to do and then refused to answer any inquiries by me and i ultimately had to take the vehicle to another dealer to have to recall work done.

My vehicle was stationary parked in my drive way, as i came out from my house (around 8pm) i noticed the windows looked very dark and i could not see in the truck.i opened the driver door and was overwhelmed with a dense electrical burn smell coming from the cab of the truck.the fire looked like it stayed near the roof of the cab and originate from both center podium seat belt mounts.both seat belt mounts attached to the rear doors for the front driver and passenger had extreme amounts of heat originating from that area.the plastic around both these areas has completely melted away and caught fire to nearby work items on the backseat bench.smoke damaged everything inside the cab of the vehicle. Smoke covered all windows and everything inside the cab.vehicle electric system still functions for locking and unlocking doors. I have not attempted to start vehicle, smoke smell and damage to intense to enter vehicle.found an article on tourqenews.com about related cases of ford f 150 seat belts electrical mechanism catching fire from years between 2015-2018.no recall issued yet that i know of.will attach article if i can.
Nothing has happen, am just going by what recalls they send me, and i go to ford an they take care of it.
On labor day this past year (9/4/2017) i purchased my ford raptor from five star ford of plano in plano, tx. I also traded in my current 2013 fiat abarth 500.when the performance sales manager was showing me how to operate the inside functions and setup my fordpass app on my iphone, i saw and shared with him (rich ruane) that my truck looks to have a recall (17c12) and with a date of 8/28, which was a few days prior. He shook it off, i myself didn't care as it was left rear seat belt and i am alone. When i brought my truck back the following week on friday to have the windows tinted and spray-in bed liner, the dealership never called me back and was avoiding me. I drove the loaner back to the dealership that night and confronted mr. Ruane and he comes out and says i can't give you your truck back because it has a recall and shouldn't have technically sold it to you in the first place. The next day i made several calls, was treated very poorly by the service manager as the sales manager avoided me. After threatening legal action, i was able to pick my truck up that saturday (9/16). First tactic and lying was the service manager telling me i never took delivery of my vehicle, after correcting him on that matter he then threatens to cancel sale, which i reminded him that had expired and he couldn't. Since then, the dealership has constantly been calling and texting my cell phone from a variety of numbers even after i told them to cease all communications with me. I don't believe they reported the sale to ford yet as i have not received anything from ford motor company in the mail about this recall, though all other raptor owners have. The dealership has been bullying, lying, and just deceitful and am fed up with it. I contacted ford motor company on this matter and have not received a response. Respectfully, brucerespectfully, bruce
I bought a brand new f-150, and still am not able to get the keys to it because of a recall. There is no date as to when this recall will be fixed, and i am very displeased with the lack of information i am getting on when i will get the keys to a vehicle i am spending $65,000 on. I want to know when this recall part will be fixed so i can take ownership of my vehicle.
My vehicle has 10 recalls on it and no one from ford has contacted me. I was told by the dealer i bought it from that there would be a recall notice going out early sept for the seatbelt issue
While coming to a stop in traffic my 2017 ford f-150 xl 5.0l started braking normally with solid pedal feel. However, as i continued braking and applying more pressure to stop the pedal suddenly became very soft and went to the floor. I had to release the pedal and reapply the brakes. Again, the brake pedal started out normal and then went soft again as more pressure was applied and i had to veer to the right to avoid rear ending a stopped vehicle. Luckily no collision occurred. The brakes continued acting this way until i was able to carefully drive it to a ford service center. This occurred on both city and highway driving when coming to a stop or trying to slow down suddenly due to traffic. My vehicle is currently in for repair at a ford service center.
While driving at 35mph, the low brake fluid warning light came on. Within 200m while trying to slow, brake pedal went to the floor with complete and total loss of braking ability. While using emergency brake, large puff of smoke came from exhaust
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that while approaching a stop light at 35 mph, she attempted to depress the brake pedal however, the brakes failed to operate as needed, without warning. The vehicle proceeded through the red light. The contact was driven to the residence and then towed to peoria ford (9130 w bell rd, peoria, az 85382) where the brake master cylinder was replaced due to a leak. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 24,613.
I was driving and when i need to make a hard stop, the brake pedal went to the floor.i had to use the emergency brake to help slow me down.while there is some braking, if you are stopped and push hard on the brakes, the pedal goes to the floor.
No break lights, backup lights, parking lights, turn signal lights in rear.
I got inmy truck and started driving. As i approached the intersection i started to brake. The brakes went all the way down and the truck did not brake. I ended up past the stop sign in the middle of the intersection. I turned around and went back slowly to my house. I almost hit a pedestrian where the truck did not brake.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving 25 mph and approaching a stop light, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle failed to stop and crashed into the middle of the front driver side door of another vehicle. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The contact sustained arm injuries, but did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact called larry h. Miller ford lakewood (11595 w 6th ave, lakewood, co 80215, (303) 232-2200) and was advised to have the vehicle towed to the collision center. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. The vin was not available.
Intermittent braking issue. Breaks do not have much breaking power. While setting at a red light more pressure needs to applied to the break pedal. In some instances the pedal travels an additional 2 inches. Loss of break holding power caused me to hit a trailer being towed in front of me. My bumper had to be replaced.
While applying the brakes, it is very easy to simultaneously push on the throttle pedal.this has happened several times, one time resulting in a rear-end collision, this is my first ford and this problem has never happened in any of the numerous vehicles i have owned.i had thought that softwarewas in place that would not allow the engine to rev with the brake applied.if not so, it would seem like a very good idea.
The brakes went completely out. They replaced the master cylinder, upon getting it back the brakes failed to stop adequately, and it was returned at that moment. They "bled the brakes" again and returned it. There was only 1 work order for this. The truck sat for a week and not the brakes are soft and inconsistent. I returned it to ford and they stated it was working as expected; however in a panic stop the brakes failed to do more than 50% stop effort and on another occasion i pressed the pedal to the floor, and had hardly any brake. I took it back to the ford dealer and they said there was nothing wrong. Since they did not take it in for service there is no record of this third attempt to get the brakes fixed. I then called the ford customer service line and their answer is just to take it somewhere else. This vehicle is dangerous and it falls outside the recall notice for a replacement master cylinder. However that is the initial failure. I suspect additional issues; but ford is failing to address them.
I was shocked at the number of f150's on the web with brake pedals suddenly going to the floor during all types of stopping situations.the problem seems to span 2016-17 models regardless of engine.it started yesterday with a freeway off-ramp failure and put me in the middle of a relatively safe intersection today... No brakes.i've seen master cylinders replaced to dealers stating that is the normal operation.that last part is pretty lame... Brake pedal going to the floor?the brake initially seems to work and then the pedal sinks slowly to the floor with no braking force at that point.at a full stop in park, i can repeat the failure.touch the brake and it appears to be ok.quickly touch it again and it immediately sinks to the floor.apparently knowledgeable dealer indicated that there may be an abs solenoid sticking cycling brake fluid back to the reservoir instead of being applied to brake pressure.this sounded much more logical than replacing the master cylinder unless the abs is integrated into it in some manner.
I go to the ford dealership that sold me my vehicle for all maintenance. (cowles parkway ford, woodbridge virginia).on 10/22,2018, i had my truck serviced and it was noted that my brakes were in a "yellow condition."on 12/11/18 my vehicle received a mandatory virginia state inspection (with no mention of the brake condition). On 1/22/2019, i took my truck for a service to include tire rotation and was informed that the tires could not be rotated and the brakes could not be inspected because the "lugnuts were swollen."i admit that this sounded ludicrous--(i am a retired aircraft maintenance officer with 27 years service in the united states air force).when i inquired about this condition from the senior technician, he informed me that ford motor company has these lug nuts that swell due to water intrusion and freezing.i asked how i would be able to change a flat tire on the highway and was informed that i would not be able to complete this task because the lug nut wrench would not fit over the nut.thus my tire rotation was not completed and my brakes were not inspected today and (my belief it did not occur during the mandatory virginia state inspection either.however, my complaint focus is that the lug nuts on my 2017 ford f-150 can not be removed.i believe that this is an unsafe condition and warrants a recall and replacement of all f-150 truck wheel lug nuts and request your assistance in this matter.i was told by the technician that ford motor company is aware of this issue but has taken no action!
I was in my driveway sitting stationary in my vehicle buckling up to depart for the store. I put my foot on the brake pedal to push the start button.after starting i moved the shift lever to put the vehicle in gear and the vehicle started to roll and my brake pedal went to the floor. Because my driveway has a slight ramp to it the vehicle kept rolling forward, i kept hitting the brake pedal but the brake pedal kept going to the floor and the vehicle would not stop. As a result i rolled into a block fence across from my driveway knocking it down and damaging my vehicle. Vehicle was just rolling under its own momentum, no power to the drive train.no injuries, but fence was down and vehicle hood and otherfront end areaswere damaged.i have no idea what caused the brakes to fail. Filed an insurance claim and had to have vehicle towed to dealer for body repairs and neighbors fence repaired.
.last sunday i got a 2017 f150 xlt stuck in a small two foot snow drift.once i got stuck i tried rocking the truck, but the transmission would not shift from forward to rear ward without the truck coming to a complete stop.after several attempts i got a fault warning for the limited slip diff.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact inquired about a recall for brake failure. While driving 40 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and it extended to the floorboard. As a result, the contact rear ended another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The entire front end of the vehicle was damaged and the vehicle was not driveable. The vehicle was towed back to the contact's residence. The contact filed a complaint with ford motors and was advised to call nhtsa. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,000.
I was on a highway in rain on cruise control approaching an off ramp. My speed was 72 mph as set by cruise control. I applied the brakes to disengage and slow for the off-ramp which is sharp. As i approached i started to apply more brake pressure. The vehicle began accelerating as i was going into the turn. I stomped on the brakes and the brakes went to the floor repeatedly while still accelerating. I navigated the turn at high speed with the back end breaking loose and fish tailing. I barely made it around and proceeded to hit the off button frantically. The truck shut down and i coasted to the side of the road. I had my 7yr old girl in the truck. It was terrifying. When i restarted the truck the cruise control was disengaged and the brakes worked
Loss of brake function while driving on highway. Pedal to the floor with no warning lights / chimes. Brake fluid reservoir appeared full - no external signs of leaks.brake pedal had a mind of it's own! brakes would work, then pedal to floor, then brakes would work, then not..........towed to dealer on 8/13/20208/14/2020 - dealer states brake booster failure with brake fluid leaking into brake booster. Johnson / sewell ford in marble falls, tx. No mention of master cylinder or brake vacuum pump involvement?(ecoboost 3.5 engine configuration)booster on back order, may be weeks to months!my build date (3/2017 at dearborn plant) is almost one year later than the build dates shown in the pending recall 20s31, but appears to be the same problem.
Doing approximately 45mph, in freezing temps and light snow, approached a yellow light. Had plenty of distance to stop and began to apply brakes. Truck began to slow, but suddenly felt like the brakes let go or maybe hit a patch of ice. Let off and depressed the pedal again. The pedal went to the floor. I began pumping them which was slowing the vehicle, but i ended up in the middle of the intersection, narrowly avoiding a side impact with a semi and looking like a moron. My entire family was in the truck and this was very close to a disaster. Afterwards the brakes were soft and continued to do the same. When the pedal was held down it would slowly go to the floor, feeling like all hydraulic pressure was bleeding off. The initial occurrence happened on a city road in motion. Of course the truck warranty ended about 500 miles prior. This vehicle has been babied, only used for weekends. Being told by dealer that a seal failed in the master cylinder and possibly a hydraulic control unit. Estimate to repair is over $2500 to repair a very new vehicle that costs over $50,000.
I was coming up to a stop light and applied the brakes.the pedal went to the floor and the vehicle was not stoping.i released the brake pedal and pushed it again.this time the vehiclestopped.i immediately pulled over and checked the brake fluid and it was full.
Sudden and complete failure of the braking system. The pedal went to the floor and continuos pumping did very little to stop the vehicle. It was immediately taken to sarasota ford in sarasoat fl.
I was backing into my driveway and stepped on the brake to stop the vehicle and the brake pedal went to the floor - no brakes.i didn't have time to try pumping the brakes or stepping on the emergency brake.the vehicle impacted the garage door damaging it to the point that it needs to be replaced.the replacement costis $1,833.33.the vehicle impact points were the plastic parts of the tailgate, bumper and trailer hitch.there was no visible damage to the vehicle.the brakes worked fine again after the incident. I had skyline ford check the brakes and they could not find any trouble codes or problems with the brakes during a test drive.i now don't trust the brakes and am concerned that it could happen again with more severe consequences.
Brakes extremely pedal sponge to the floor. Extreme brake stoppage. Vehicle was in motion and was able to stop slowly on city street. I sent it back to a near home to stay. Extremely close to collision. No damages. Replaced master cylinder to repair center. Dealership was not available.
On 08/07/2017 while traveling approximately 55 miles per hour on highway 281 in san antonio, tx my 2017 ford f-150, v8 super crew, 4x4 ftx experienced complete brake failure.my brakes went to the floor with no brake activation and i had to swerve to the left two lanes to avoid impacting the vehicles in front of me.once on the shoulder i had to pump the brakes in order to stop after travelling several hundred yards.there was absolutely no warning (noise, service lights, etc.) prior to, during or after the brake failure. The vehicle was only four months old with 6400 miles on it.if there was no shoulder or clear lanes it would have caused a severe accident likely resulting in injuries.i was able to slowly and carefully make my way to the dealership on side roads but experienced total brake failure three additional times.the first time was while i was stationary at a stop sign facing slightly downhill my brake pedal went completely to the floor and i had to pump it several times to make the vehicle stop again.the other two times i was traveling approximately 25 miles per hour and missed my turn (right) and proceeded past the turn approximately 50 yards and had to pump the brakes in order to stop.the dealership had to remove and replace the master brake cylinder.they indicated it was leaking internally and gave no explanation why a service light or other warning did not come on and there is no current recall for that part.
Could not stop for red light and smashed into someonee
Ford f-150 lost control and accelerated coming out of car wash tunnel. Car did not respond to brakes and accelerated into a building injuring driver and pedestrian.
Dashboard warning message "park brake malfunction-service now"along with other brake system symbols. Multiple random occurrences, can happen upon starting, when running or any operating condition.first happened day after new car delivery and re-occurs up to present date. Authorized ford dealer service departments have attempted repairs six times but the problem persists.typical photo attached.
When i come to a stop the brakes will be firm and the go soft and go all the way to the floor. Also when i press the brakes i have to pump them so they will work. When this happens i'm either at a stop sign or a stop light. Its also happened when i'm coming to a stop. The worse part it happens separately and the dealership thinks i'm crazy.
There has always been a "brake light" sign turn on inside dashboard, and the brakes do not brake while it is in motion. When i step on the brake pad, the pad goes all the way in but does not stop my vehicle at all. It works sometimes, but my stopping is not guaranteed every time. Also, when i am at a red light, my engine is supposed to shut down then start back up once i release the brakes (2017 f150). However, my engine does not shut down at all. I have been to the dealer a few times and had my vehicle serviced, however, nothing has changed. Now, my dealership is avoiding me by not picking up my phone calls. I am afraid to drive on the road with this vehicle for my safety, and the safety of others.
Power steering went out, lane assist, hill assist, lane keeping it, braking assist have all stopped working. Abs light is on and i am getting multiple senor warnings.
Purchased vehicle about 2 months ago.this morning i was slowing the vehicle at a stop light.once pressure was applied to the pedal it would continue to progress all the way to the floor.checked brake fluid and it was full.problem persisted so vehicle was taken to the dealership.
The vehicle was bought brand new in corpus christ, tx back in april 2017. August 26, 2017, i was on my way to colorado and realize my break pedal would go all the way to the floor and suddenly lose braking ability simultaneously, which would be a disaster if an emergency brake is necessary in some situation. Fortunately, it happens when i was on a parking lot trying to get back to the main road from a short break. I did not take it very serious as there is only about 4500 miles on the truck, and the brake did function okay when you need to slow down on highway (i mean slow down, not to make a stop), but not until i almost hit a pedestrian in the neighborhood in denver. After that, i had to be very very very very careful whenever i need to perform a brake since i realize it was extremely difficult for the vehicle to make a complete stop even driving in neighborhood at about 25 mph. The brake pedal would go all the way down even when your transmission is at park. So i cancelled everything i planned in colorado and stayed hotel for 2 days until corpus was cleared from hurricane hazard.i drove the vehicle back very very very very carefully and sent it to the dealer the next day when i got home, which was thursday august 31, 2017. The tech identified the problem as master cylinder failure and got the master cylinder ordered and replace on september 8, 2017. I understand the dealer is very busy because of the hurricane, and i do appreciate the they manage to give me a loaner vehicle taurus to drive. However, the master cylinder did not fix the problem according to the tech and they have to order and replace the hydraulic control unit, which would take another 10 business days. I did some research online and saw other people having similar problems. I hope ford, if not, nhtsa could take this issue serious before someone got injured or killed due to this problem.
Brake pedal must be pressed at least 1 1/2 to 2 inches for braking to begin.at this point the brakes are not firm.also, while on a downward grade or hill the brakes initially brake, but slowly lose pressure and have to be pumped to retain braking.i have taken my truck to dealership 4 times and was told that this common to all lariat trucks and they cannot repair.obviously, this is a defect that ford should address immediately.
Ford motor company documentation (2017 rv & trailer towing guide) states this model of truck, with the ford 3.5l ecoboost engine, can safely tow 11,500lbs (maximum loaded trailer weight). Based on personal experience and consulting multiple trailer towing experts, this is a misrepresentation of the material facts and capabilities of this truck. Additionally, it puts unsuspecting drivers in an unsafe and dangerous driving situation.
The vehicle will not stop completely sometimes. Other times, the brake pedal is all the way to the floor before the vehicle will cease movement. No matter how great or how little pressure is applied to the brakes the pedal will go all the way to the floor.
Good day to whom it may concern,on february 13,2021 i had a major brake failure while parking my truck when the brake pedal went to the floor as i was backing up. The reason this is a concern is that i regularly have my vehicle serviced at only ford dealerships. The two most recent times i had service was on january 21,2021 the works oil and filter change which incudes inspectinginspecting the brake system; and october 27,2020 the works oil and filter change which includes inspecting the brake system at which time i had rear brake work done by future ford lincoln of concord 2258 diamond blvd. Concord ca.94520. The technician said it was to much pressure applied to my brakes while backing up and parking. I have not ever experienced this through over 40 years of driving and it is a very concerning issue that i would like to know if it can be investigated into please.thank you
Master brake cylinder went out at 6,267 miles- brake pedal went to floor while at intersection- was able to pump up - had to pump up every time vehicle was shut off and failed once after pumping up at traffic light
The rear brake calipers seized up causing grinding noises and excessive wear of pads and rotors in a very short amount of time. Gas mileage was also greatly reduced as brakes were being applied while driving. Ford replaced the effected caliper but cannot guarantee that the other 3 will not do the same thing saying it was a faulty part raising concern that they will go out after my warranty on a one year old truck expires in the next few months leaving me responsible for replacing the faulty parts out of pocket.
Sudden loss brakes in a hard stop. There are videos explaining the problem where the abs unit goes into bypass and for one wheel; but then the value does not reset. This issue has happened to me 4 times while driving the car, and to my wife once. Taking out the abs fuse, and thereby disabling the function solves the problem, as the bypass valve will not engage. However you lose the mandated feature of abs. Detailed explanation found athttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r46_unyyk8. This started at 7,500 miles and continued until i disabled the feature when ford could not isolate and fix the issue.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving approximately 20 mph and attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard and the vehicle would not immediately stop. The vehicle was immediately taken to grapevine ford (8101 e. State hwy 114, grapevine, ford) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000. *pmconsumer stated he tried applying the brakes several times but brakes went to the floor and emergency brakes had to be used.
Without warning, brake pedal went all the way to the floor, pumping brakes brought pressure and was able to stop. Upon inspection at brake repair shop, master cylinder failure was identified.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that brake pedal stiffened without warning which had made it difficult to depress the brake pedal while driving at various speeds. The contact had taken the vehicle to tindol ford (1901 e franklin blvd, gastonia, nc 28054) where an inspection was performed on the vehicle however, the dealer found no fault with his brakes or brake master cylinder. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.*dtconsumer stated he took the vehicle to a different dealer and had it diagnosed vehicle had a defective brake booster, parts were unavailable.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving 30 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop. The contact stated that the brake pedal felt soft. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was able to be stopped by repeatedly applying the brakes and using the trailer brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (asheville ford lincoln, 611 brevard rd, asheville, nc) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder leaked internally and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 18,300.
Power steering becomes non-functional and " steering assist fault service required" warning is displayed.happened three times, twice within (odometer reading) 44410 miles and again at 44951 miles. The vehicle is difficult to steer and can cause accidents especially during high speed on highways. The problem eventually goes away after letting the car rest with engine turned off for a while. The malfunction does not produce fault code and dealer is not able to troubleshoot/replicate.
When on a complete stop in a traffic intersection, the autostart feature is engaged shutting the engine off. When the left turn light turns green, i take my foot off the brakes and initiate a turn. During this turn, the steering becomes difficult.here is a link of current complaints:https://www.f150forum.com/f118/auto-stop-power-steering-problem-399937/
Steering went out suddenly while driving. Truck steering wheel would not return after a turn .the steering rack was extremely hard and notchey. Was hard to maintain on the road, truck was swerving side to side. Truck was parked and towed.as it was unsafe to continue driving. .
Loss of steering control during highway driving:when driving around a curve i experience a momentary loss of control of the steering wheel and front end.the steering wheel will actually move to the left without warning causing me to overcorrect to the right to keep the vehicle in the proper lane and direction. The issue is more pronounced going down or up hill around a curve. It also happens on uneven pavement.the 2017 truck has less than 8k miles and has been at the dealer twice to repair the issue. It is also more pronounced when towing a trailer which causes serious concern for our safety. The loss of control happens when driving above 45mph on highway or city street.the issue has not been fixed.
Truck lost power steering assist while driving down interstate. And then i got message hill start assist failure, advance trac failure, electric parking brake failure, and electric power steering assist failure. All this while in motion at interstate speed.
At highway speeds, on i-15 in utah at approximately 70 mph, traveling over an overpass bridge to the transition to the highway and hitting the bump the front wheels and related suspension including the steering wheel started to shake violently,..a condition historically known as "death wobble". This did not cease until reducing speed to below 50 mph. Mileage on the vehicle was 10,141. Vehicle is completely stock with no modifications. After a tire rotation and inspection finding no visable issues the vehicle still continues to unexpectedly/randomly exhibit this problem. This occurs only at higher highway speeds and only after traveling over a transition or rough pavement typically assiciated with an overpass bridge.
Front end shimmy / wobble at 55 mph after hitting bump in road
After the auto start/stop feature engages the power steering does not immediately return. So when i am stopped at a traffic light, stop sign or left turn and the auto start/stop restarts the engine when i release the brake it can take up to 3 seconds for the power steering to reengage. I have had this to the dealer and was advised that this is functioning as designed. The vehicle did not behave this way when i first purchased. This could be very dangerous in an emergency situation require a rapid restart and turn.
Vehicle has dangerous erratic and inconsistent steering at all speeds. Pulling, wandering, easy to steer then very hard steering. Difficult and much effort to correct steering and stay in lane.
Driving down the interstate cruise set at 70 mph hit a couple small patch spots and the the steering wheel went crazy jerking around like i had a blowout.i merged to the apron of the interstate to slow and stop.when i was almost stopped the jerking quit.i notified dealership and took it to them they found nothing wrong with the truck. I started research myself and the problem is known as a death wobble.very disappointing from a new truck with 8000 miles on it.there are several videos out there of this problem.ford needs to address this issue before a bunch of people are killed.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel failed to turn left or right andbecame inoperable. There were no warning indicators illuminated; however, the steering assist message was displayed. The vehicle was towed to shetler-corley motors limited (623 n parkerson ave, crowley, la 70526, (337) 783-4600) where it was diagnosed that the electric steering wheel rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: cas-24558242-22d9k7. The contact was referred to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 43,000.
The electronic power steering does not work properly when the engine is stopped due to the auto-start-stop feature.i was sitting in an intersection waiting to turn left across traffic with the engine auto-stopped.i released the brake and immediately tried to turn the wheel and the steering would not allow me to move the wheel.it continued to struggle working intermittently for several seconds.this condition is very repeatable.if there is any pre-load on the steering wheel when the auto-start restarts the engine, it takes the steering several seconds to become active.this is a very dangerous situation because i'm giving the truck gas to go into on-coming traffic and the steering is effectively disabled for several seconds.i've reported this problem to my local ford dealer who said they would escalate the problem.i've had the truck back in for maintenance since that complaint and no corrective measure has been identified or offered.with this defect, i'm left to manually deactivate the auto-start-stop feature every time i'm in a situation where i think i'll need steering input immediately after i release the brake to move forward.i feel like this is a design defect in the truck that creates a potentially dangerous situation where the steering is not available during forward motion of the vehicle.

2017 f-150 raptor steering subsystem failure. The steering wheel was forcefully turning itself left and right erratically; up to 90 degree turns very quickly. Very dangerous. I was on high elevation logging roads when this occurred. Overcoming the erratic behavior felt was similar to steering a wheel without power steering. Making turns was near impossible. Failure lights that came up:* low battery features temporarily turned off* steering assist fault service required* terrain management system fault* lane keeping sys. Malfunction service required
Power steering went out, lane assist, hill assist, lane keeping it, braking assist have all stopped working. Abs light is on and i am getting multiple senor warnings.
Deflector ford part number 8327 tore and is rubbing against power steering and transmission coolant hoses at 19,127 miles. Ford says this is not covered by warranty.
Just drove from louisiana to texas to come to work offshore.along the way i get a message on dash.steer assist fail, abs light, hill assist fail as well.nothing feels strange so i keep driving to make it to work at 2 am.stop for gas, start truck and have no power steering.no replies from any dealer around to help including dealer back home,i will either be forced to pay to have it fixed.apparently ford knows something but dealers arent saying a word
.last sunday i got a 2017 f150 xlt stuck in a small two foot snow drift.once i got stuck i tried rocking the truck, but the transmission would not shift from forward to rear ward without the truck coming to a complete stop.after several attempts i got a fault warning for the limited slip diff.
This vehicle has the automatic stop/start feature and for a few seconds after the vehicle starts back up after being stopped- there is no steering control
Steering assist was once again disabled within a week after the last incident with steering assist caution advisory. This time it almost caused an accident. Steering malfunction happened right at the moment while making a left turn at the inside lane of an intersection. While the steering wheel was turned left to negotiate the turn, the steering became stiff and made the vehicle encroached on the outside lane. Applied brake immediately and forced steered vehicle back to inside lane.
Truck wanders all over the road and requires constant correction no matter the road conditions. Once the vehicle speed reaches over 40-45 mph the steering becomes very difficult. Almost as if the power steering assist is not functioning.
Steering control temporarily lost when driving
The steering gets stiff after steady driving of 80 to 150 miles.i had it checked at a ford dealer and was told there was not a recall on this year model for the particular problem.the dealer offered no other explanation or solution to the problem.this happens all the time and only stops after the vehicle rests for several hours.the dates are from sept. 2018 until now.i bought the vehicle used from enterprise leasing.
I recently bought a ford truck and just a normal day i was driving and the truck just power off i took the truck to a ford service they told me i still have extended warranty, they check the truck and told me that the issue was electrical throttle body snd that my warranty doesn't covered that malfunction, i think that a new truck with less than 51 thousands miles with electrical problems meaning that ford just don't want to covered what they don't do right
Doors will not close, have to put a heater on them to get them to latch, ford tells me i'm not apart of the recall, even though the truck has the same symptoms as the recall.
When the temperature dips below freezing, door will not latch on drivers side. Extremely dangerous. Only remedy i have found is to either park in a garage (not possible for me) or to close the door and hit the lock button. The door will not fully close, but after truck gets to warming temp, it eventually will latch. Just a super dangerous situation especially when you need the truck to get to work or something and have no other mode of transport. I believe there is a safety bulletin but my vin comes back with no recalls.
Frozen door latch not opening or not latching being parked6 times before and after going back to the dealer
On dec 27 owner opened the rear right door of the vehicle, when attempting to close the door it was observed that the latch did not function due to possible ice accumulation on the locking mechanism of the door. Suspect that the door is allowing too much water in during mild to moderate rain events and the door has a design flaw resulting in inadequate drainage and air circulation in the door causing the locking mechanisms to fail. Vehicle was not able to be driven on the 27th as the ice had not melted yet and the latch continued to fail. On the 29th, the door was finally able to latch again after it warmed up. Below are some of the meteorological conditions during that time. Vehicle could not be secured during this time and the door had to be ratchet strapped shut from the inside. During the day of dec 26 through night of the dec 27, day time highs of mid 30s and overnight lows in the low 20s with rain on dec 24th.
While there is a recall (17v652) for certain model year 2015-2017, it does not cover my june 2017 built vehicle. The door latch freezes daily on a 4 month old vehicle any day which is below 32 degrees fahrenheit. The door will not latch leaving the safety of anyone sitting in the rear seat vulnerable. It is not the lock actuator or the rubber seal, but the actual door latch not catching. The ford dealer stated that there was ice, but this vehicle is not covered under the recall. After sitting their garage for two hours it finally latched. Only one door consistently does this (right rear). The vehicle stays outside and is not garage kept.
Doors freeze shut in and around door handle so stationary vehicle cannot be entered in cold weather.in other cases the door can be opened but will not latcheven though vehicle is in motion.often vehicle is in motion before it is realized the door is not latched and door has and mayswing open while traveling if not held in place by the individuals hand.this problem has occurred at least 6 different days in january and first full week of february 2019 in temperatures below 22 degrees f. To date no injury nor property damage has resulted from this concern.the doors have been treated with deicer along with a strong dose of penetrating oil.this has not cured the problem.
Ford door latch recall: affected models are the f-150s made at the company's dearborn plant from march 12, 2014, through dec. 31, 2016; my truck was mfg april 2017 at the dearborn plant and is having the same issue. Door latches freeze and then will not allow the door to latch properly when you try closing the door.
The driver door would not latch.it took 4 hours of a heater in a garage and some force to get door to latch.the actual latch would work, but the nob in the car would not work. The outside handle also worked, but felt like it was not engaging. I did have to hold the door closed whole i drove home from the store.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v652000 (latches, locks/linkages); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called a local dealer (corwin ford of springfield, 3241 s glenstone ave, springfield, mo 65804) and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Manufacturer recall number17s33, nhtsa recall number17v652, recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available. Still waiting on ford to initiate contact regarding a repair date for this safety critical repair. Winter season 2017-2018 is already upon us with freezing temperatures and every day without repair possibly puts myself and my family in danger.
Truck parked in driveway, ambient temperature 30f. Driver's side door would not close/latch. If i inserted the key and locked the door it would close. Once opened again it wouldn't close. After a 12 mile drive, the door worked fine. 7000 miles on vehicle.
Rear door behind drivers door will not catch to keep the door closed. The door bounces back open when you push it closed.
Frozen door latch. 20 degrees outside. Driver side front door latch frozen and wouldn't open. Had to go to passenger side front door to get inside my 2017 f150. All other door latches working at this time.
Recall 18n03 - fix freezing door latches.my vehicle was in for the recall to be completed on 1/10/19.at the conclusion of the recall 'fix', i picked up the vehicle from the local ford dealership.the service department person, stated "your vehicle is fixed (using air quotes), but if you have any further trouble, feel free to contact us.i expect to hear from you."the two front doors of the vehicle will not latch unless they are thawed.in temps above roughly 28 degrees fahr. They are fine, when colder the door will unlock with remote or key, however once the door is opened it will not latch closed until the latch is thawed.friday, 1/11/19, after work about 7pm, i entered the truck, thought everything was fine and the door latched.as i was leaving the parking lot, the driver's door swung open.i had to hold the door closed with one hand to drive the eight miles home.i understand ford motor co. Has been aware of this since the 2015 production year and has not provided an adequate solution.
Driver side airbag did not deploy on a frontal crash. My daughter was driving hwy 583 in wilkinson county ,mississippi when the vehicle went off the pavement striking two large trees.*dt
In below freezinng temps the door latches freeze up.makig it hard to enter the truck and once in the doors refuse to latch closed, so unless you want to drive around with the doors unlatcked you have to wait until the truck warm up enough to thaw the latches.not what you want from a $38k truck.
Passenger front door latch failed to make positive latch. Door remained open due to latch mechanism being frozen within the door. Vehicle was parked in driveway overnight. Ambient temperature was 32 degrees fahrenheit. No precipitation for previous 24 hours.
The running boards are supposed to automatically extend when the door is opened. Many times on both the driver side and passenger side will try to extend but will not stay, they immediately retract. This causes the occupant to have to take a very large step up into or out of the vehicle. Sometimes they fail completely to even try to extend at all when the door is opened. This occurs for both the front and back doors. This is when the vehicle is stopped. It happens when the vehicle is off and when it is on.
Feb. 2019, doors would not close once opened. ' had to takewife to work, had totie both front doors closed from inside of vehicle. Tsb 18n03 applied in feb. By local dealer.dec. 2020; front doors froze open; would not shut. Tsb 19n03 applied on jan. 14, 2021. On jan. 23, 2021, again drivers door would not shut due to freeze. Had to hold door closed with left arm while picking up supplies. This was 10 a.m. On sat. The 23rd of jan.2021. The vehicle was stationary when i noticed the doors would not close. I have short video, but too large for the 5 mb limit.i understand ford is naming this "customer satisfaction program." i submit, this is a serious safety issue.
The temperature was about 17 degrees fahrenheit.the driver and .and driver side rear doors would not latch upon closing.i was able to get the doors to latch by heating the latch with a hair dryer, spraying the latch with silicone lube, and simultaneously operating the electric lock switch multiple times.i have had no further problems.fortunately, i was at home when the problem occurred.had i been on the road, i would have been stranded.the vehicle was stationary when the problem was discovered.
The windshield wipers malfunctiondue to the steel key stop falling out of the keyway causing the wipers to bounce and loose contact with the windshield impending visibility during heavy and light rain this has been addressed by a ford dealer who informed me at present ford indicates that this condition is unrepairable .the present design where the key is inserted into the wiper arm and not the knurled knob of the wiper arm transmission has an inherent flaw do to the fact that the key can fall out due to viberationand gravity. When wipers are operating , this could result in a fatal accidentdue to lack of visibility. The key can fall out when the vehicle is moving or stationary. Now to address the paint issues , the paint on this new vehicle is pitting and flaking offin several areas yet ford insists that this is not a warranty issue and is customer pay i short ford is refusing to honor basic warranty issues/invoice number c24254
The doors will not open when the weather is below freezing. After letting the truck heat up for approximately 30 minutes, i was able to pry open the door, however when i attempted to close them, they would not latch. After another 30 minutes, i was able to close the door and press the lock button to get them to latch, but then the doors would not open at all afterwards despite my prying. This is a major safety issue as i had my toddler in the back seat and i could not access the truck. This has happened after i've already had it taken into the dealership where they performed their recall fix, the fix did not work and they say they have nothing else they can do.
Driver side door will not latch. Driver side door unmatched during driving. Door latch frozen. Door latch locks and won't unlock.door latch problems seem to happen during cold dry and wet weather.while driving and while parking or parked.
Drivers side front and rear doors do not close in cold weather. Door latches have been replaced with "new version" that was designed after a previous recall. The new latches do not correct the problem and a major safety issue still remains as doors will come open while driving.
Drivers door won't latch closed in freezing temperature. After warming up the truck, the door opened fine but would not latch closed for approximately 15 more minutes for a total of 30 minutes of the truck running. 27 degrees outside and dry. I did not try to drive the truck until i was able to get the door latched. I contacted ford roadside assistance during that time but was able to get the door latched without needing anyone sent out.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving approximately 5 mph, the driver side door opened. In order to avoid a crash, the contact turned the vehicle to the right and landed in a ditch as the vehicle struck some bushes. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v652000 (latches/locks/linkages). The contact mentioned that the failure had occurred five times since the vehicle was purchased. The dealer (vinton baker ford in fairview oklahoma) was called and stated that the remedy was not yet available. The contact stated that he was informed by the dealer that the vehicle would be repaired according to the recall remedy but the scratches sustained to the vehicle's paint was the contact's responsibility. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.
The door latches become inoperative in below freezing weather and require the inside of the cabin to be heated for approximately 30 minutes before they will work. I have had both fsa's completed by a ford dealer for this problem, but the problem still exists. This issue presents a safety problem because the doors will not latch closed and could swing open during driving.
I had my door latch recall completed on sept 20, 2020. All doors were done at my local ford dealership. The first cold day below 32 degrees, the door latch failed and doors would not close or latch.called ford dealership to tell them the repairs did not work and ford will not return a call or e-mail to me to pay for the recall to be re-done at another dealership!please help.
I have made complaints on here before for the same problem, 3 doors on my truck have either not unlocked or latched when closing doorwhen it's cold out , this is a wide known problem and ford keeps issuing fixes that don't work, this is a safety issue as the doors open while the trucks being driven, or when your driving the truck and the latches freeze shut you can not open the door to get out , if it was an accident and cehicle was on fire youcan't get out ,please make this a mandatory recall , it's a huge softy issue ...
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the front driver and passenger floormats were soaked by rain water while the vehicle was parked in the driveway. The contact noticed that the driver and passenger windows were leaking. The contact stated that he purchased the extended warranty, but was informed by the manufacturer that the warranty only covered mechanical failures. The contact was informed that another company provided services for interior damage. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer did not address the water damage in the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 11,057. The vin was not available.
The driver's side door will not latch . The door will not stay closed in cold weather. In november 2017 i received a notice telling me of the problem and how to resolve the issue. The dealership tells me there are no parts to fix the problem. The truck is unsafe to drive. The safety recall number is 17s33/ nhtsa recallnumber is 17v-652.
Tailgate opens going down the road, tailgate opens anytime i unlock the doors, and tailgate opens when remote is near tailgate with no buttons pushed.
Door latches freeze and will not properly latch when trying to close or get stuck locked when shut in sub-freezing temperatures. This has happened on 3 occasions. Temperature has always been above 5f but below 32 f
I've had the doors latches of my truck freeze iin the shut and open positions, making the truck unable to be driven, it's happend many times since it's gotten cold out, there are thousands of complaints online and on online ford f-150 forums about this problem, i have had it in and they did the fsa 18n04 on all 4 doors, they had my truck for 3 days to do this, the very next morning the door latches are doing the exact same thing, at first they unlock and then the door won't latch closed so you can not drive the vehicle , if you can get the door to latch and proceed driving vehicle. The doors will come unlatched while th3 vehicle is in motion, there's two parts to this issue , first it leaves the vehicle unable to be used in an emergency , and if the latches do appear to latch and you use the vehicle the latches allow the doors to fling open while driving , this is both a huge safety issue and ford needs to actually fix this problem and stop bandage the issue ...
The driver door stops latch will freeze up and not close half the time whether its sitting still or in motion
Door latch recall ' my f150 falls outside the door latch recall dates ford provided, however, my truck is experiencing the exact same defect.anytime the weather falls below freezing my doors will open and cannot be closed as the mechanism inside the door will not engage.my truck cannot be used in freezing weather.ford needs to extend the recall notice beyond their initial dates (purely done to limit their liability!!!!).it is dangerous to operate a vehicle with doors that will not close!!!
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the dashboard was separating. The vehicle was taken to dick smith ford of columbia (7201 garners ferry rd, columbia, sc 29209) where it was inspected but, was not repaired. The contact stated that he was not provided any information as to what caused the dashboard to separate. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and denied the claim for the repair. The contact was provided with a claim number which was later closed. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
The truck has a recall 17s33 involving doors not latching due to water. My truck has this issue and the dealer cannot obtain the parts. I've called ford twice and just get referred to the dealer who can't help me. After my truck is washed, the drivers side rear door fails to latch causing the warning signal to activate and interior lights to come on.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While operating the vehicle at various speeds and turning in either direction, the rear driver and passenger side doors would suddenly unlatch and open. The failure occur while the doors were in the locked position and when the weather temperature was below 15 degrees fahrenheit. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (corry ford, 13626 rt.6, corry, pa 16407) and repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 17v652000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the failure recurred. After repairing the vehicle a second time, the failure continued. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000. Consumer stated door doesn't shut and latch does not work. Updated 12/13/18
Arrived at work on 12-23-19 at 8 am (walgreens parking lot). Shut my front driver door and the rear window of my f-150 pickup shattered.
2 of the 4 doors would not close and 1 was frozen shut
Water is getting in the truck, wetting and staining the driver side airbag, and coming out of the driver side grab handle, running down the electrical instrument panel.this is most apparent when the vehicle is parked on an incline during a rain storm, with the front of the vehicle lower than the back.
My front passenger door opened while taking my daughter to school on 11/7/18.we were entering the roundabout at a slow rate of speed when it opened.she had to reach out and hold the door shut as it would no longer latch.all of the doors have had problems latching that last few days.this morning both the front and rear passenger doors would not latch after being open.last year i had problems with the doors unlocking in below freezing temperatures.i had the truck into the dealer numerous times for repair but so far they are unable to resolve this latch issue.
In below freezing conditions, the door latches will no longer operate causing the doors to open freely. Ford is aware of this issue as i received a "customer satisfaction bulletin" for this issue, however the fix provided does not work. There is currently an active recall for vehicles for the same model year, but mine is supposedly not impacted. I've got a friend who has a 2018 f-150 who has the same issue. This recall clearly needs to be expanded to beyond model year 2017 and an appropriate fix provided as the one ford has does not work.
10 outside. Started my truck and couldn't open the drivers door from the inside. Roll down the window to open the latch for the outside. Door wouldn't close. The latch in the door wouldn't work. It wouldn't click. Couldn't lock the door. Drove with the door unable to close to the local 'non-ford' shop and they said to warranty it at ford. I drove an hour to ford in reno with ratchet straps holding the doors together. Problem wouldn't duplicate in reno (30) in reno. They wouldn't replace parts if they couldn't duplicate the problem. Turns out there is a recall for this same issue in other f150s, but not my vin.
My vehicle is a 2017 f150 lariet pickup truck, the vehicle is equipt with an electronic tailgate release. The tail gate has opened on me on at least a dozen occasions.while the vehicle is in motion. The vehicle has been back to the dealer with no satifaction the dealership had no anwer how to correct this and that there where other complaints and that there was an indicator light on previous model years and it is stated in the owners manual and. There is no why to disable the tailgate lock and there is no indicator light on the dashboard that thegate is open. This is a dangerous and unnerving problem that the ford motor company needs to be mandated to correct. Before an unsuspecting driver is hurt or killed from cargo flying out of the bed of this vehicle. There is again no way to lock the tailgate...
On 2/21/2018 while travelling west on i290 in auburn my left rear door opened unexpectedly and cannot be closed and stay closed. The door latch appears not to be working. The dealer informed me that it is a known issue and no remedy is currently available. If my dogs had been in the vehicle this morning they would have died. This is a deadly defect and all the 2017 ford f150 crew cabs should be pulled off the road immediately for safety reasons. Doors on vehicles should not open without any human intervention.
During below freezing temperatures after heavy rain the drivers side front door would not latch when attempting to close it. After roughly 45 minutes with the vehicle running, and heat on the door closed properly. The next day it happened again. 1/18/18 and 1/19/18 were the dates of occurrences.
Wind noise is heard coming from both front doors. Dealer claims this is a known issue with the new aluminum body but they don't have a fix. The 10 speed transmission shutters at random.
Front driver-side door opened, but then would not latch back closed.it had rained/snowed the previous day and was 25 degrees f that morning.
Driver and passenger front doors will not latch all the time. Has been to the dealership twice. First time they did a temporary fix. The 2nd time on december 29, 2017 it was looked at a 2nd time and a 'permanent fix' was applied to the door latches. After picking the truck up it is still not fixed. Ford is putting out faulty permanent fixes. The truck was parked when i noticed the problem was not fixed. The passenger door took 15 tried to latch closed. Drivers door takes 3-5 tries to rt to close.
Since november 2018 when temperatures are below 32 degrees my doors will not close once opened on my f-150, until the lock is forced down..the truck has been to the dealership multiple times for all frozen door latch recall (18no3).when the doors do close, by forcing the lock down, they will not reopen until the truck has warmed up.all four doors have been affected.my children have been locked in the back (crew cab).i have had to drive to the dealership holding the drivers door closed.the doors are a safety concern for my family and i, and ford has no fix for the problem.the dealership will not buy back the truck. The problem exist stationary and in motion.
Door latches freezing causing doors to open while driving.while driving in cold temperatures the door latches don't work. I was driving several times and when you go around a corner or turn the vehicle left or right the doorsswing open. Ford has installed weather seals but they said that the fix is not working as i have proven i was told there is nothing more they can do at this time and will have to deal with it
During freezing weather my door latches and locks freeze and become inoperable. Sometimes doors won't unlatch. Sometimes doors i open won't latch when closed. Sometimes doors don't lock when i have used the power locks that should lock all doors. This has only happened after the vehicle has been parked for a length of time in freezing temperatures. Fords voluntary services action has failed to fix the problem.
Door latches freezing and doors will not remained closed posing a safety risk. Tailgate also opens on it's own.
My electric tailgate is coming down without me opening it. I was hooking up my snowmobile trailer and it came down on my head. We have had it open going down the road and with a tonneau cover you don't know it has fallen. Thankfully the boys had down hill skis in back that didn't fly out and kill someone.i have now pulled the fuse but that interferes with opening the doors. And makes my rear box useless with the tonneau cover. I have to put the fuse back in in order to open the tailgate.detroit -- ford is recalling its popular f-150 pickup truck in canada to fix a problem with electric tailgate latches, but identical trucks aren't being recalled in the u.s.
F150, with below freezing temperatures the do not engage and stay closed. The just bounces off latching. This leave driver to tie door closed with rope or cords just to get to work or home. Had dealer preform 18n03 but same issue with same door exists. Dealer seems oblivious to issue despite a very large online awareness of this issue.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the doors failed to open because the door latches were frozen. The contact stated that the doors opened in warmer weather. The vehicle was taken to wickstrom ford (600 w northwest hwy, barrington, il 60010) where they applied grease on the doors. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred the following day. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they informed the contact that a stronger grease would be applied to the doors. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. When the temperature was 32 degrees, all the doors failed to remain closed and would open while driving. The message "transmission not drive" appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to koerner ford of syracuse (805 w genesee st, syracuse, ny 13204, (315) 474-4275) where it was diagnosed that the door hinge mechanism failed when the temperature fell below 32 degrees. The hinge mechanism needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 15,300. The vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving approximately 15 mph, the tailgate detached from the vehicle. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 9,500.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150 super duty. While driving 70 mph over an object in the road, the driver's side wheel shook violently and the entire vehicle experienced a "death wobble". The "hill assist" and "service track" messages appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to stucky ford (500 broad st, hollidaysburg, pa 16648, (844) 200-3673) where the bushing chambers were changed a few times, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was unknown.
Front end shimmy / wobble at 55 mph after hitting bump in road
Would not tow the recommended weight.tsc came on, almost wrecked, another vehicle did.transmission and rear axle malfunctioned.towing didn't work in town on flat terrain in houston texas.took truck back to dearlers they agreed.
Vehicle will abruptly change first gear in the morningcausing a whiplash movement.after that first abrupt change it operates normally.also occasionally, while on a hillthe vehicle will turn off due to the stop/start functionbut it will not turn on.
Rear passenger door window shattered as i was driving on the freeway.did not see or find evidence of anyone hitting window.
I own a 2017 f150 5.0 liter v8 with 10,700 miles purchased new this year.the braking system failed while driving. The brake pedal lost the resistance and depressed all if the way to the floor, failing to stop the vehicle. The brake pedal would return back to the normal position when released. This happened intermittantly on secondary roads for about 25 miles before failing consistently. The brake pedal would then depress completely to the floor board until released. Nowarning lights or alarms activated. The brakes would function partially and abnormally but required the driver to 'pump' the brake pedal to maintain proper pedal resistance and would bring the vehicle to a stop. It was taked to the dealership where it was purchasd and the master cylinder was said to be leaking and was replaced under warrenty repair.
F150 vista moonroof frame has fractured 3 times.including the original moonroof that was factory installed, i've now had 3 moonroofs (2 replacements) for a broken frame that controls the opening of the moonroof.the issue was noticed because the moonroof rattled during normal driving, and made noises upon opening it.concerned about robustness if moonroof will break again, leak, or stay closed in a collision if the track breaks again.
Door locks frozen temperature was 17 degrees and truck would not unlock had to leave it at work. I have had problems before but i have been able to get the doors open but they wouldn't latch closed
I was driving my vehicle stopped at a red light the light turned green i started to go through the intersection and when i got halfway through the intersection a loud clunk stopped my vehicle in the middle of the intersection i almost got rear ended and then i shut my vehicle off i started it back up and it kept lunging forward the transmission was having issues
Rear doors not shutting in colder temps. Had to ratchet strap the rear doors together from the inside to keep them shut. Contacted the local dealer and service told me that it's an 8 hour fix and that may not fix it. He then told me to find a garage and thaw it out.
Horn stopped working, this a two part horn that does not operate correctly causing a safety concern. Had a motorist drifting into my lane that could not hear my horn when i tried to alert him to the issue
Adding photos to the first complaint
Computer systems voice control and manual system controls tied to the computer system in sync3 has a 30-60 sec. Response delay requiring eyes to be taken off the road to answer calls, mute sound, use navigation, among other safety features. This has made the entire system unusable and apparently is a common and known issue with this system. The issue occurs all of the time regardless of being stationary or moving, day and night, in city or on highway, and has many times been a hazard while driving. This has occurred starting in june of 2019 and continues to get worse.
Water is getting in the truck, wetting and staining the driver side airbag, and coming out of the driver side grab handle, running down the electrical instrument panel.this is most apparent when the vehicle is parked on an incline during a rain storm, with the front of the vehicle lower than the back.

When ever it gets below freezing the door locks freeze and won't open all 4 doors , also if you can get them to open, they will not latchclosedwhen closing doors, so you are unable to drive the truck
Only 1 transmission bolt was on truck.cost me $200 for them to put 3 bolts to hold transmission.truck must have a defective part to cause 2 or 3 transmission bolts to come off.
Vehicle was sitting in the garage for 2 days.opened door to grab something.on closing the door the back window completely shattered.
The auto shut off system when you stop when the break is applied. There is no way to permanently shut this system off. You can hit a button each time you start the vehicle, in the manuel it does stat you can turn it off but doing as it states does not turn it off permanently.when needing to take off quickly or if you need to make a turn when the vehicle turns off the steering wheel is hard to turn so you need to let up off the break. There needs to be a way for the owner to shut this button off permanently if they so choose.i don't see where this turning the engine off and on all the time is saving fuel and good on the starter.
Cabin heating/windshield defrosting system not working, only blows some warm air through passenger side dash vents, only cold air to floor, drivers side dash vents and windshield defrost.unable to clear fog/frost from windshield {safety issue}, per ford tsb 20-2236ford dealership not familiar with the tsb.
My safety was put at risk when the the truck would not start after stopping at a light. This happened three times. The last two times on july 18th and august 11th, after shutting off the truck would not restart and the speed limit on each road is 45-55 mph. Police had to come block the road because it was unsafe. The dealer took the vehicle in on aug 2-6th and advised that it was fixed, only for it to happen again on the 11th. No warning messages were present.
My husband was driving headed south on ih35 near carl's corner texas when a lady pulled up next to him and was flagging him down.he was at exit #374 which was his exit to come home.the lady exited as well and was screaming at him.he then rolled the window down to her saying your trucks on fire.feb 10th 2019 this vehicle caught on fire while driving it.on feb 11th 2019 the dealership that we bought it from towed it to the dealership.it been at the dealership since then so over 5 months at this point.ford has yet to determine what cause the fire except the 4x4 transfer case might be to blame.it has only 36,438 miles on it.so they plan to fix what the fire damaged and give it back to us.me or my husband don't feel safe in that vehicle especially since the cause of the fire is undetermined.this is sad that a car manufacture has so much money the consumer has no rights.we have delayed our payments with ford motor credit for 3 months.now since the dealership is dragging it along with will soon be repoed.we refuse to pay on a vehicle with this serious issue and is unsafe. And it's still in 100's of pieces at the dealership.
11/8/2020, 9:00 a.m. The rear glass imploded and shattered when the driver door was closed upon driver getting in.the engine was not started, when the rear glass shattered. The 2017 ford f150 was sitting in our driveway. We live in the country with a fence around the house area. The vehicle was not disturbed, nor was it a cold morning, about 75 degrees.
Parking brake alert comes on reading parking brake malfunction please have it checked.the parking brake will not work and the alert keeps comming on even when i hit ok.took it in 2 times to ford deal and they reprogrammed but it still comes on after awhile when in drive mode.it does it when in motion or parked.
While drive in the rain with the cabin heater on there was a loud noise and then the rear window of my f-150 truck window shattered (it exploded outwards from the inside of the cabin) took the vehicle directly to the dealer to file a claim. After several hours and the dealer contacting the warranty department i was told the damage would not be covered by ford the vehicle only has logged only 14,400 at the time this time and i have an extended warranty on the vehicle
Rear window poped or shattered for no reason. There was nothing behind me that could have caused and impact as i was in a boat ramp with only the ocean behind me. When i opened my door to get out i heard a loud pop noise. I looked around and didn't see anything. I got my boat out and when i started loading the truck up i noticed the rear window glass was broken.
Rear window of my truck popped and shattered a few min after activating the heat and rear defroster. Nothing has struck or compromised the window.
Rear window shattered 5 min after activating the rear defroster. Was not moving when happened.
Outside air temperature was 21 degrees f, couldn't unlock or open doors with key fob or manually.the vehicle had been remotely started and had been running, parked for 10 minutes before i tried to unlock and open the doors.## vin passed ## ford f150 2017 ##
Was informed of a recall 17s33, 17v-652 on 11/17.have received no thing from ford since and they say nothing has been done as yet.is this long of a delay normal!?
Door latch mechanism does not close when exposed to freezing temperatures. My vin not included in recallref: nhtsa campaign number: 17v652000
This is while stationary, car on or off. When the doors are locked and the passengers want to get out of the car, they are unable to open the door. Only way for them to open the door is for the passengers in the front seat to press the unlock button on the door. I feel this is a safety issue as it acts like a permanent child lock. When taking the car to the ford service department and calling 1(800) to make a claim, they said that is how the car is engineered. Everyone from ford dealership and the 1800 number all agreed that it could be a safety issue. Example 1: if the car is locked while driving and there is a crash, and the driver gets knocked out and there is someone in the back seat, the only way for them to get out of the car is to roll the window down and climb out. They cannot get out by opening the door handle, they have no unlock button, they're only hope is for the window to roll down or break the window. Example 2: this one actually happened to us. My dad was driving with my nephew and brother in law in the back seat. They get pulled off the road by a crazy driver. The crazy driver gets out of the vehicle and confront my old father and starts to threaten him. My brother in law who was in the back seat with my nephew was trying to get out of the car to help my dad but he could not because my dad did not press the unlock button on the driver door thus forcing my brother in law to roll the window down and crawl out. When he did this, he got his foot caught and ended up falling right on his shoulder causing bruising and scrapes. If he was able to get out of the back seat of the car, none of this would have happened. Also it is an annoyance. Passengers in the back seat have to wait for the driver or front see passenger to unlock the doors for them to get out.
While driving the 2017 ford f-150 the steering became very difficult to turn on a city street. The steering went out with 38k miles.the dealership fixed by replacing the steering column and electronic controls for $1730.
2017 ford f-150. Consumer writes in regards to vibration issues. *ld
I rear ended another vehicle at around 35mph. The front airbags deployed. Within 2 minutes we noticed that the truck was on fire. The fire originated at the bottom of the driver side b pillar. Myself, one witness, and one law enforcement officer all saw where the fire started. The truck front and cab were totally burned up within 5 minutes. No one was hurt due to the fire.
At 62,000 mileage, the ac compressor had to be replaced and belt that i was warned would seize. I am a first responder driving into our nearby mountain range. We dropped off the truck at the santa cruz, ca ford dealership on sep 28, 2020 and the job was completed on fri oct 2, 2020.they said it was fixed.10 minutes later there was no ac as we drove home.this was during the ca wildfire season and daily aqi checks for health hazards.i brought it back in on mon, oct 5, 2020, they said their machine was broken and they had to send it out.we had to drive with our children in hazardous wildfire air quality all of october with the windows down.the defrost did not work either properly, blows into face instead, so the weather turned andresulted in me getting dispatches, driving in the dark through the mountains with no defrost windshield function.hazard.their machine was fixed dec 18, 2020 so i brought it in again.it did not work, and the ac and defrost still broken as mechanics determined a connecting part they broke off in attaching the machine to my truck and now had to order that part from detroit. I brought it in jan 7, 2021 and it was supposedly all fixed.3 days later no ac or defrost.i work with a sheriff dept who has had this occur to their fleet of f150's this last year, and been given the runaround with supposed fix.they auctioned off their trucks because it was never properly resolved.this seems like a possible ford part recall, and is a hazard for drivers.
While in motion, i accelerated to pass another vehicle. Upon completing the pass, i pumped my brakes to slow down. When i released the brakes, my truck rapidly accelerated and would not stop accelerating, though i had not touched the gas pedal and tried braking several times.the only way i could stop the sudden unintended accelerateion was to putthe truck in neutral and brake. Even as i did this, the engine continued to tach at high rpms. After turning the vehicle off and on at least twice, the issue finally resolved.the dealer found only 1 code error, showing the high tach, and blamed the floor mat. I can say with 100% certainty, it was not the floor mat.
Takata recall truck put in park in parking lotbut rolled away while i was inside a building striking a light pole.
Moonroof jammed. The upr window is not capable of of sliding back. Rarely used and suddenly doesn't work.
After 40 mile on the highway drive, i've got off the offramp and came to a red light. While i was stopped my truck started to idle rough for about 10 seconds and finally stalled. No check engine or warning lights appeared other than a notification on the dash screen stating to press brake to start. I then pressed the brake and pushed start and it turned on right away. I then drove in the city for another 20 miles with no problem and then evidently it happened again when i got to a stop. Restarted right away with no secondary issues. I took it to my local dealership. They kept it over night to run tests but there was no success on recreating the problem. Therefore, no repair was made. I do find this situation unsafe due to possible fault occurring at highway speeds or on a hill while driving.
Roof of truck had bad paint corrosion, like something was under it when painted.primer showing through. Was not noticed at time of buying as we weren't on a ladder to see the roof.
This past week, we had a couple days of 30 deg weather in the chicago area in the morning and i started experiencing issues with my drivers door. It would not re-latch when i closed the door. Every time i closed the door i heard the infamous "thud" and it bounced back open. This happened over and over. I had to drive 12 miles, while holding my door closed so i can get to work. Eventually it starts working fine as the weather warms up. I understand there is a already a recall and a settlement on this matter for the exact year of my f 150, however my f-150 vin's is not apart of that. I've contacted ford and all i got was there's nothing that they are able to do since my vin is not apart of the recall. So in order to drive my vehicle safely, i need to pay out of pocket. This just proves there's still issues with the door latch system and it is a safety concern.
Rear sliding glass window trace coming apart from rear window causing rear slide to fall inside the cap of the truck and ford service writer told me he has seen this on 5 other trucks this month.
Driving down road in new truck.turned on rear defrost and 4-5 minutes later, the back windows explode and a burning smell came up.
The ford new back truck window exploded!! normal morning 85 degrees. Have read in u-tube now becoming a common issue with this new ford truck model. We called ford. Truck under warranty but ford refuse to do a thing about it. Even though so many others owners of the f-150 have had the same issue!!! it was parked as normal. Nothing hit it and no stress fractures before window exploded. It just exploded!!
Doors are freezing shut when temps drop below freezing. When able to open door often door wont close and lock will need to be pushed down in order for door to latch.one two different occasions doors have come open while car is in motion after frozen.
My son, marine lcpl ryan mccoy, was driving on i95 in virginia back to camp lejeun when he heard a ā€popā€¯ sound. Assuming something was wrong, he pulled over to the breakdown lane. The vehicle began to smoke and the temperature gauge shot up to the hottest it could register.at that time, he turned off the vehicle and exited. He noticed the front of the vehicles so in flames and began to run away from the vehicle and saw the vehicle violently explode. He called 911. Stare trooper joseph worley arrived and he called a tow truck. When the fire went out, the trooper left without checking to see if ryan was okay or had a ride anywhere. The tow truck dropped ryan at the nearest rest stop and the tow truck took the vehicle to interstate garage.
Drivers side front and rear doors do not close in cold weather. Door latches have been replaced with "new version" that was designed after a previous recall. The new latches do not correct the problem and a major safety issue still remains as doors will come open while driving.
Back glass broke without impact
The apim module is going out of the truck it is a 2017 ford navigation is not working radio is sluggish.no gps signal!
On below freezing mornings driver door will no re latch after opening. It seem to occur on hard freeze mornings. This has occurred to my truck on the following morning jan 16 & 17 in herndon va and on jan 21 2019 in mineral va each morning the temp was below 25. Each time i have had to defrost the door latch
Driver and passenger locks will freeze and they will not close or lock. Very dangerous.
The panarimc sunroofis broken the plastictrack breaks on these and ford knows alot have.my parts on back order and they had the truck for 4 days and don't know when replacementparts will be available
Tailgate open repeatedly while parked with truck shut off. Has done this since new. You can hear the latch activate and let the tailgate open. I have lost things when i did not realize the tailgate was open this is very dangerous. It opened five times today after slamming it shut and then it stayed shut until i got home while backing in the driveway it unlatched and opened again. The weather today was above freezing and dry it has been dry for several days.
After last sync 3 update restarted truck and touchscreen failed to work, or have the gps map shows up. Cannot program gps for directions apim failure only 41752 miles on truck.

The black stitching on the leather areas of the dash is turning pink. I believe it is being caused by sun exposure. I contacted the dealer and they have sent pictures twice to ford explaining the problem. They have refused both times to cover this under warranty, stating it was caused from harsh chemicals being used in cleaning. I have never cleaned the dash, only dusted it with a clean cloth. I purchased this truck december 9, 2017. I noticed this and reported it to the dealer february 9, 2018.
Ford f150 recall #18n03 where the door latch can freeze not allowing the door to close or not allowing the door to open. West hurr ford of rochester ny told me they would not perform the recall until the door latch actually froze. My concern is that i travel fro new york to pa a lotand if it freezes when i am in pa i would be stranded until a dealer could fit me in to fix.
When the truck sits all night and it rains or snows the drivers door latch gets froze up and won't latch when you close the door.

On two occasions vehicle accelerated to the floorboard without touching pedal, nor floor mats holding pedal down.both times was forced to put truck in neutral and turn engine off.ford dealer cannot fix issue b/c cannot get problem to repeat for them
First event:while i was driving back from the countryside on a two way road ' single lane -, i overtook a big truck on an uphill area, and all the sudden my truck died.
Ford f-150 lost control and accelerated coming out of car wash tunnel. Car did not respond to brakes and accelerated into a building injuring driver and pedestrian.
The contact owned a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration when the brake pedal was depressed. As a result, the vehicle struck a gate, went airborne, and landed on top of a brick wall. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard where it was deemed destroyed. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. There was one injury that required medical attention. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000. Updated 10/15/18
This is a brand new truck i have purchased about 3 weeks ago. I have noticed some strange behavior of the accelerator pedal, i had an impression that sometimes it was getting a bit stuck or changed the position on its own. Today i have discovered by myself that the accelerator pedal assembly is completely loose, all 3 bolts are not torqued at all, i could turn them with my bare fingers. This explains the strange behavior i observed. Last week i complained to the dealer about the rough downshifting, they did a test drive (!) and found nothing wrong. I have made a video, i hope it will better explain the nature of the problem: https://youtu.be/b9ijtdtdqyai definitely consider this a safety issue and i suspect ford does not have adequate quality control to ensure that the accelerator assembly is installed correctly.i am going to see the dealer tomorrow morning.
Truck lost power steering assist while driving down interstate. And then i got message hill start assist failure, advance trac failure, electric parking brake failure, and electric power steering assist failure. All this while in motion at interstate speed.
In motion the throttle body is very slow in responding to commands given to it by gas pedal causing unsafe delay in acceleration and unexpected minor increase in speed in stop and go traffic.
While accelerating to pass slow vehicle, i pulled back in lane and attempted to slow down but the accelerator was stuck and continued to accelerate up to 70 mph before i heard it release and then the truck slowed.within 20 minutes i accelerated again and once again the pedal stuck and continued to accelerate without foot pressure.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While driving 55 mph, the throttle/accelerator pedal became stuck. When the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop and rear ended another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact suffered minor body aches that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was towed to astro ford of mississippi (10350 auto mall pkwy, d'iberville, ms 39540, (855) 322-5745); however, the contact was not sure if the vehicle was still drivable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were unknown.

Vehicle was parked in my garage and not started.owner opened the front passenger side door to retrieve items located in the passenger seat.when owner closed the door, the back window of the vehicle exploded outward.this caused small pieces of shattered glass to land inside the truck bed and fall between the cab and bed of the truck.as vehicle was being driven to the ford dealership and back home, small pieces of glass were dispersed within the cab of the truck across the back seat.the window had no previous damage and the truck remains parked in owner's garage except when in use.no environmental factors contributed to this event.
Opened the back driver's side door and picked up my weed eater string out of the floor and when i closed the door the back glass blowed our!!! the vehicle was parked not running and sitting under my carport .
The halogen headlights are terrible! i live in a place that is very dark during the winter months and these headlights are close to night having the lights on. I had to change them over to high intensity led bulbs, which isn't an easy chore, that made it better but ford, with all the new fangled technology out there, should put better headlights in its vehicles.
Was using my remote start with rear window defrost this morning. As i was standing outside the truck and my wife was inside with all doors shut, the rear windshield spontaneously shattered. The truck was not moving and there was impact to the window.
Remote started vehicle this morning. Reached in to turn on defroster and went back into garage. About 3 minutes later, i heard a "pop" looked over and my back glass had shattered on both sides. Inside smelt of burning and there was wires exposed from the glass.
Got to work and parked my 2017 ford f150. Came out 4 hours later and my back window was completely shattered. The slider was not touched but the rest looked like it had exploded from the inside out. My truck was parked where nothing could have hit it. If i had been driving while this window shattered i may have wrecked into another vehicle or person or gotten seriously injured or killed. Ford needs to recall these defective back windows as numerous complaints by consumers are everywhere you look. Come on ford. Make it right!
I used remote start on the truck. This activates the defrost. It was in the garage with door down on that side (another door was open). I went out and the rear windshield was completely shattered.there was a burning smell in the truck when i entered.this could not have been due to something hitting it as it was enclosed within the garage. .
The weather was slightly below freezing and my truck was parked in my drive.i used the remote start function on my key fob to allow the truck to warm up before i got in.after a few minutes i got in the truck.while the truck was parked and upon closing the door i heard glass shatter behind me.when i looked the entire plate of back glass on the truck had, for lack of a better word, exploded.top to bottom and side to side the glass had completely broken.there was glass both inside my truck and in the bed of the truck.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. While the contact was exiting the vehicle and closing the front driver's door, the entire rear window shattered without impact. The contact called jones-west ford at (775) 329-8800 (located at 3600 kietzke ln, reno, nv 89502) and was informed to schedule an appointment. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: 16916217. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
The rear window in my ford f-150 cracked. There were no previous compromised areas and it was untouched when it happened. The vehicle had been in my garage. I had used the auto start to warm up the vehicle in the morning. It ran for approximately 15 minutes. I prepared to leave for work and noticed the large crack and chunk missing in the rear window.
The rear windshield of my 2017 f150, has randomly exploded and shattered into a million different pieces. This occurrence has happened 2 times now. Both times there was no external cause for the window shattering. The first occurrence happened while closing the drivers door when the car was parked, the other occurrence had while simply driving in a neighborhood road. There's not explanation for why the rear windshield explodes, nor is ford willing to cover it.
Intermittent wipers do not shut off.
The f-150 was sitting in the driveway and i noticed that the rear window was in the process of shattering and falling out.there was a bulge on the drivers side and glass had fallen off the edge about three quarters of the way around the window.temperature was 88 with clouds and the truck was in the shade. I opened the passenger rear door and the complete rear window, except the sliding window(electrically operated) was completely shattered.as i shut the rear door, glass started falling out of the bulged area,i called all star ford in kilgore, tx, who sold the truck to me and they were no help. I had the extended warrenty, but glass is not covered.
The contact owns a 2017 ford f-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was started remotely and the contact smelt burning plastic. When the contact entered the vehicle, the rear window exploded both outward and inward with some glass on the backseat. Had a flat on my 2017 ford f150. The factory lug nut wrench did not fit my factory lug nuts. Was stranded on the side of the road because of this. Apparently the lug nuts swell above 21mm to where you have to use a 21.5mm or 22mm wrench to get the lug nuts off. The factory lug nut wrench is 21mm. Had to purchase a 22mm lug nut wrench to replace the factory one.

I have owned my 2017 ford f150 for a little over 2 years vehicle has 30000 on it. I have had ford replace my lug swollen lug nuts they have replaced them two times in the short amount of time. The aluminum separates and expands from the steel body . The lug wrench that they include in the vehicle to change tire will not fit lug nuts once they have swollen. So in a instance of having a flat tire on the side of a busy highway you would not be able to change tire.

Dealer called and said my lugnuts were swollen and would get worse in the future and make it difficult to remove wheels. Dealer replaced them with aftermarket lugnuts.
Ford f-150 chrome lug nuts expand causing inoperable performance of the standard manufacture provided lug nut removal tool (aka lug wrench) according to ford service techs this is and has been an on going issue with ford. Ford claims this is a 'wear' issue. I called ford and this is there detention for swelling of the lug nuts.according to ford service techs the lug caps are separating from the lug nuts causing the lugs to swell to an additional millimeter in diameter. This swelling causes your manufactured tire tool that comes with your vehicle not to work at all. Leaving you stranded or force you to call for assistance. Ford needs to replace the defective parts at their cost not the customer. I was attempting to change a flat tire at 1:00 am in a gas station parking lot, thankfully not along the busy highways. This is a true safety issue for the motoring public. Ford like the rest of america's companies go with the odds of people getting harmed or injured verses fixing the issues for their customers.sad...
