The problem was identified from the ford dealership as a seat belt pretensioner issue. I am not sure what that device does for the air bags assembly, but i feel that ford should have replace this free of charge; regardless of the year of the truck or the miles on the truck. The price was also extreme for that part. $372.18 just for the parts. I paid an total of $631,.65 for this issue. Ford case number# cas-16048449-g3b4mi

I had a head on collision. All airbags where deployed except for the passenger front.i have owned the vehicle brand new so i know that it was never turned off.

We were driving on a fm road it was pitch black that night and came up a hill and in the middle of the road was a big black cow, i swereved to try and miss it and not hit it head on but clipped its behind on the right front quarter panel, the next thing i know the cab is full of smoke and smelled like wires burning,so i go to theside of the road and killed itmade sure everyone was ok and went to the er to get my children checked out, unknown why they failed to deploy

Vehile has/shut down on 6 or 7 separate occasions while sitting in a parking lot or at a stop lights the steering also locked up while trying to turn left . I have taken it to several but the only thing they tell i need a new engine ,. Which we cannot afford,we got it serviced on time and took care of it thinking we would have it for many years. Now it is garbage i have always defended ford but now am so upset don't know what we will do .

Driving on a city street when the engine suddenly shut down and quit running. I was almost rear ended by a semi truck and only avoided a major accident because i had room to go to the right and the semi had room to swerve around me on the left. When i had it towed to the ford dealer they informed me that it was a melted fuse but that they were already aware of the problem and had a "fix" kit in stock and the repair process already documented to reroute that fuse. This means that ford is aware of this problem and i presume was just waiting for someone to die before issuing a recall.i have the repair order available if needed. When i contacted ford directly they informed me there was no recall and therefore i was responsible for the entire $650.00 cost and did not seem to care about the possibility of a major accident when the engine suddenly stops running.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While parked, the anti-lock braking system and the traction control warning lights illuminated. The failure recurred constantly. Passenger side front seat caught on fire from the seat heater. Kept smell a burning smell and could not determine the source. Parked the truck and looked outs de about an hour later. Smoke coming out of the cab. Opened the door and saw seat on fire. You assenger used the seat heater prior. No one smokes in my family so there was no other heat source.

Truck purchased 3-30-2011. 9-2011 needed to have battery jumped.cleaned battery posts.seemed fine.12-19-2011 battery went dead.aaa replaced battery.01-31-2012 battery went dead again.aaa came and said the battery was fine.had it jumped and took it to holman in maple shade, nj.they kept the truck for five days and could not find anything wrong with it. When aaa came they said it seemed as if something was pulling from the batteryholman said if it happens again not to have it jumped just have it towed.seems it may be electrical.not really sure.

The truck is shutting off while driving and at all speeds. My husband has to pull and reset fuse 27 to allow the fuel pump to recieve power.this has put my husband in dangerous situations as it has happened in heavy traffic on two lane highways. We are requesting a service voucher be sent to our local dealer to fix the problem we understand has already had a bulletin sent out for. It is a ford issue and we would appreciate this being remedied. We were quoted a price of around $300 to change out the relay that is causing the issue.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving at an unknown speed, the abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the computer that runs the brake system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the part not being available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 19,000.

The truck is shutting off at any point in time and putting my husband and others in danger as it has happenend while going down busy roads and the hwy. He has to get out and reinsert the fuse.it has also failed to start until the fuse is reinserted. It has blown fuses.this is under recall in other vehicles fuse 27. Fuse 8 was also causing problems and it has been replaced. We have since learned of the service bulletin. It is a problem we feel should be covered by ford which has been quoted as between 250$ and 300$.we are requesting a voucher for repair be sent to our local dealer for the repair. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Problem 1: my trucks traction control engages on snow and throws the wheels into a slide rather than stabilizes the vehicle.i turn sway and/or traction control off and it turns itself back on whenever i stop and then getback in and restart the truck.problem 2: this truck will not give an accurate read on gas in the tank as the needle is always getting stuck.i gauge by miles gone as to when i need gas. (just stopped to get gas thought i was out but needle went over 1/2 which is what i put in.) but there are more electrical issues such as the doors that unlock during the night when i have locked all doors, by morning one or more doors often on passenger side unlock themselves.and sync always does it's own thing with my iphone x, never know if it will connect or be disconnected while driving.sometimes it goes from hands free answer in the middle of a conversation to suddenly in privacy mode.these problems are while in motion and sometimes when the vehicle is parked.problem 3: truck speedometer is very difficult to read due to hash marks for speed instead of numbers at 20, 40, 60, etc speeds.nearly got a ticket for looking down too long to read my display.starting to hate this truck as i never know what it will do or not do.this is dangerous as it is a consistent distraction.so much for safety due to technology.if others have these issues well it's no wonder people are driving so badly now.

Vehicle has stalled/shut down on three separate occasions during operation. The first two times the vehicle shut off while stopping at a traffic light. During the latest occurrence the vehicle shut off while navigating a left turn through an intersection. The stall resulted in a power steering and brakes failure. I was able to stop the vehicle without incident because there was no traffic. The latest incident occurred on 05/23/2011. The vehicle has been taken to the local ford service department but they cannot recreated the problem and therefore have no solution. I have also notified ford customer service of the problem. There have been six other quality issues with this vehicle. Ford customer service instructed me to continue driving the vehicle and report the incident to the service department when it happens again. Hopefully the next time it happens it will not result in a crash.

After the onboard computer system detected a fault from the abs sensors (rear wheels were 17" and fronts were 18" so rears turned faster than fronts), the drive-by-wire (acceleration) software suddenly limited me to the speed at which i was traveling at the time:50mph.even though i pressed the accelerator to the floor, i got no further acceleration.lights and warnings on the dash indicated an abs and brake problem; there were no such problems.at the time of the "override", i was about to merge into freeway traffic traveling approximately 20mph faster than i was moving thus leading to the probability of a rear end collision.i moved closer to the shoulder and (wild guess) pushed the button for skid control (?)--two squiggly lines on the button.had the override occurred 4-5 seconds later, i would likely have been injured.i had installed 18" wheels on the front with the intent of installing 18" wheels on the back the next day.the vehicle came with 17" wheels.i had driven approximately 20 miles with that 18-17 configuration before i experienced the warnings and corresponding speed limitation.drive-by-wire means drive-by-software.someone made my driving decisions for me and those could have resulted in my injury or death.vehicle testing can no longer center on performance measurements only.true safety testing must include an assessment of the "safety" software where drive-by-wire systems are used.i purchased the vehicle on 2/25/2013 from carmax; 43,124 miles.the vehicle was in good condition with no prior history of accident or major repair.

I wa traveling on i-20 east traveling from vicksburg, ms heading to atlanta, ga.i had been using the cruise control consistently for about 3 hours.i also was using the accelerate & decelerate buttons on the steering column.i approached a slight curve in birmingham, al with the cruise control locked in at 60 mph, when all of a sudden the vehicle accelerated full throttle.i applied foot pressure to the brake, but the vehicle would not slow down.it continued to accelerate to about 85 mph.i then somewhat raised up in the seat to apply all the foot pressure i could to the brake.it slowed down slightly.when i took my foot off the brake, it began to speed up again.next i fumbled with the cruise control buttons to see if they were stuck.the vehicle continued to accelerate.finally, i moved the gear shift to neutral & the vehicle began to slow down.when i put the vehicle back in drive, everything appeared to be normal.needless to say, i did not use the cruise control anymore.thank god, we survived!

Vehicle died while driving on city street. Engine would turn over but not fire. Had tobe towed to ford dealer at cost of $90. Was advised by dealer service that the problem was fuse 27 melted and damaged the fuse box. This is a known problem for f-150 vehicles for years 2009 - 2014. Tsb 15-0137 was issued in september of 2015 but no recall was issued. Cost to repair was $466 out of my pocket. For a known problem with six model years this should have been a recall. Just glad i was not on the interstate when this happened.

Having problems with ignition. When you turn ignition switch, the car doesn't start. Already have changed a part in steering column related to the ignition.

Truck parked in garage from sat evening 4/21/2012 from short 9 mile trip. Truck started around 10:30 a.m. Sun 4/22/2012. Removed from garage for 3 minutes then returned to garage. Shut off. Left residence in another vehicle. Returned around 7:30 p.m. Opened the garage to find a smoky haze coming from it. The entire garage was hot. I noticed drips of some substance under the truck and on the running boards. I immediately realized it was the undercoating that was warm enough to melt and drip. I got into the truck to start it up but the battery was dead. It was warm enough in the cab of the truck to liquefy tootsy rolls that were in there.i could not get the truck in neutral to push it out of the garage. After a short period with the garage doors open and everything seeming to cool down. I used abattery charger to try start the truck. It would just click and not roll over. With the charger there was enough power to put it in neutral and push the truck out of the garage. There we used a commercial battery starter and the truck started up. There was a check engine light on all the time but it seemed to run fine.all gauges read where they were supposed to. The water temperature gauge was immediately at thewarmed up line upon starting. Left it outside overnight. Following morning drove it 10 miles to local ford dealership. They tested everything and could not find anything wrong with it. The dealership called their hotline and they had never heard of anything like that happening before.. There was nothing else in the garage that was affected.

Keep getting fault code "check fuel fill inlet" this is cap less fuel tank system. I checked cap less fuel fill inlet seems ok but continue getting fault codes. Hundreds ford customers complaining about same issue, this affects all ford vehicles using cap less design. From what i read on the web currently there is no fix for this problem. I called ford motor co. Warranty group and open a case regarding this issue. My truck currently at the dealership to diagnosis the fault code. I was a design engineer at john deere for 13 years, a problem fuel storage could be dangerous and fatal. Fuel system design problem l should be identified and resolved immediately during development & testing for this truck. I hope nhtsa address this issue seriously and get this issue recall list. Thank you. [xxx]4/14/2016. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I bought a preowned 2009 ford f-150 in november 2011 with 49000 miles on the odometer.i had always complained theinstrument gauges were difficult to see. I finally investigated and realized that the instrument panel is not illuminated under daylight conditions.it is only illuminated when the parking lights or headlights are on.the only way to get illumination during daylight is to cover the light sensor thus simulating darkness.this, however, only illuminates the gauges at the lower setting for nighttime driving. The dimmer knob/wheel is operational but does not increase illumination to the level expected for daylight driving. There are at least two other complaints on this website regarding this issue and there are several other like complaints on other websites.the dealer tech was helpful, but upon checking with ford, was told the vehicle was designed that way.i find that to be ludicrous.for instance, today, on a sunny morning, when driving toward the east at 10:00 am it was impossible to read the gauges!how can this not be a safety issue?

I have had no answer to my concern.i purchased a new 2009 ford xlt four door extended cab pickup in february.in april 2009, i noticed that the inside dash lights (gauges, speedometer, etc.) came on only when it was very dark outside the vehicle.this is true whether the light switch is in the manual or the automatic position.the dash lights will not respond when the headlights are illuminated in the manual or automatic position unless it is very dark outside or you place your finger over the electric eye.the ford dealer from whom i purchased the vehicle agreed that the dash lights should illuminate whenever the headlights are on and kept the vehicle for five days trying to find the problem.they finally got hold of the ford motor company hot line and were told that the current lighting system for this vehicle is a result of a programming change made by the company for 2009.i was informed that the only solution to my concern would result as a probable recall for all of the vehicles to fix the problem. In late may 2009, i called the ford motor company's relationship center and related the above-stated concern.the representative was very attentive and courteous and indicated that he would forward this information to appropriate departments within the ford organization.however, he did not feel that i would be getting any responses. I understand the young man's dilemma (it's a technical problem which needs a technical input).i am still wondering whether a ford company programming change is the cause of the problem or if my concern is justified.i believe there are some safety issues to be addressed, i.e. Shouldn't you be able to tell if your headlights are on by glancing at your dash lights during daylight storm conditions?

Our truck was parked in a parking lot. We had entered a store about twelve minutes before.no one was in the truck and it was turned off. Someone came running into the store and yelled there is a green ford f 150 on fire in the parking lot. We ran out to see the truck up in flames. After the fire was put out the cab had melted and all the left side of the drivers side.was burned and melted. The windshield had. Racked and broken in many pieces from the hot fire. Had aaa tow the truck to a auto repair shop. It was totaled called ford co and they told me that they have had no complaints of aspontaneous fire with these trucks. Today they called and said they determined it should just be handled with the insurance company. They took no responsibility. Aaa had not sent them any paperwork yet on the incident.but they determined with no knowledge of what evidence was going to be reported that they did not have to handle it. Found on google a complaint sight where 44 people have had the same problem. I am very unsatisfied with the ford co and the way they just dumped this issue.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving approximatly 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled in the middle of a busy highway and would not restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that fuse number 27 had melted. A fuse relocation kit needed to be installed and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 108,000.

Truck stalled and lost transmission power in the middle of busy highway. Waited 20min on shoulder and truck started and ran fine. This has happened periodically over the last year with no error codes found during diagnostics related. Now happing more frequent and yesterday the truck stalled again and now will not start. Researched and found a class action lawsuit about ford pcm/tcm failures which described my symptoms perfectly.next issue is at 55mph the truck tried to go into 4-low, which shut the truck down on the high way and almost went off the road. Error code found during diagnostics was the "communication to transfer case shift motor"

Approaching an yellow light at approximately 35 mph i hit the gas pedal hard for passing gear.the acceleratorstuck, the engine roaring, i had to step as hard as possible to stop the truck so i would not hit the vehicle in front of me.engine would not stop accelerating forcing me to turn off the truck.shocked, i sat in traffic for a momentbefore i restarted the engine, but it immediately went to full speed again, forcing me to again turn off the engine.my friend climbed out and pushed me out of traffic.after sitting in a parking lot for about 5 minutes i again started the engine and it started normally.

At around 3500 miles on my 2009 ford f150 supercrew, i noticed a mildew smell and condensation forming on the inside of my windows. I did some research and found it is due to liquid in the cab somewhere. I pulled up each kickplate and found the problem to be under my right rear cab kickplate. Water was accumulating down there with all the electrical wires. I took it to the dealer and they stated it was due to the third brake light. It was replaced. At 5000, i noticed the smell again and knew right where to look. I did and had the same problem. Took it back to the dealer and they replaced the same third brake light only they said this one had a stronger seal. I just hit 6500 miles and noticed the same problem and smell, and popped the kickplate and had the water again. I am fixing to call the dealer on monday to let them know. After looking in my cab i noticed a spot of dried water residue on my headliner. I am going to point this out to them and let them know something is not sealing correctly which could very well compromise the electrical system with all the wires down under the kickplate where the water accumulates.

Ford f-150 2009 lost my cluster for a few second during traveling and came back.

The rear door wiring harnesses are under/poorly engineered for normal usage and durability and are subject to premature breakage specifically where the body meets the door resulting in multiple exposed wires causing first and foremost the dangerous potential for vehicle fire as well as inoperable door ajar sensors, electronic locks, window control and interior lighting.

Vehicle caught fire while parked. Wires leading into the fuel tank shorted caught bed on fire, but was extinguished in time to stop further damage.

Abs module defective in the truck, power steering going out. Rpm modole not working.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While stopped with the brakes depressed, the vehicle abnormally accelerated resulting in a crash. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The contact also stated that when reversing, the rear view camera would not alert him that he was reversing into another vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but not repaired for the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 37,000.

I was entering an on-ramp onto the interstate and accelerating at the time.as i was nearing the end of the ramp, i felt the truck was traveling faster than i had intended.i removed my foot off of the accelerator only to hear the engine revving and watched the speedometer continue to climb.i was traveling between 80-85 mph by the time i was entering the interstate approaching a tractor trailer truck.i stood with both feet, straight legged with 130 pounds on the brake while not only trying to avoid the tractor trailer in front of me, but watching another tractor trailer approaching me from behind. My speed continued to climb as the accelerator remained stuck. After approximately half a mile of me standing on the brake, i heard a loud bang as the accelerator let go and my braking took effect.i took it to the closest ford dealership who "could not duplicate the problem, the peddle must have been stuck on the floormat".as i was not satisfied, i then took it to the dealership where i had purchased it only to be told the same thing.as the person driving the vehicle, i can assure you, it wasn't stuck on the floormat.the same thing occurred to my husband as he accelerated to pass a vehicle. However, the period of acceleration did not last as long as this last episode. Both dealerships were made well aware of both incidents.

2009 ford f-150 stalling and not starting. This was due to an improperly located 20-amp fuse exposed to excess heat. The fuse needs to relocated or the problem will continue. The truck stopped working suddenly in the middle of traffic and almost caused an accident.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While attempting to start the vehicle, the key would turn in the ignition; however, the vehicle did not start. The vehicle was taken to joe machens ford (1911 w worley, columbia, mo 65203) where it was diagnosed that the fuse that controlled the fuel pump had burned and needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was172,628.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While reading the owners manual, the contact realized that the vehicles electronic trailer sway control system was disabled. The system was enabled when the vehicle was turned on but when it was turned off, the system disabled and could potentially cause a crash according to the owners manual. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that there was no fix for the problem. The failure continued to occur. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000. The current mileage was approximately 13,500 updated 11/19/10 updated 11/23/10

First the right rear door shows that the door is ajar so the interior lights stays on while driving for about ten miles before they go out and when you stop the vehicle and get out the lights stay on for about 20 minutes so it runs the battery down. Second thing is the drivers door handle don't return to the closed position it stays half way out and a piece of plastic fell out of door handle i contacted the ford company about these problems and i was told that they were nothing they could do about the problems. I myself think that these problems are a safety problem and very aggravating

The fan blower speed control stuck on high only and was replaced 09/2011. The vehicle kept stalling out upon deceleration going down the road. With loss of power steering and power brakes when this happens.could be going 30 mph or 60 mph. When get motor is started again it usually runs rough. The left oxygen sensor code was on so this was replaced. 11/2011 the fuel gauge also stopped reading fuel in the tank when this happens. Replaced fuel pump in tank, fuel filter, fuel power module, all was fine for three weeks. Truck dies 8 times today and all the same problems are back. Engine light on, fuel gauge stopped working, truck runs rough for awhile when restarted then clears up. Engine light now stays on and fuel gauge will read 1/2 tank when it is full. 36 gal tank. 11/22/2011.

Foul odor developed in vehicle, consistent with mold and mildew. Entire carpet pad found to be wet. Inspection at dealer revealed leaking third tail light. Dealer noted this is a common problem. Clearly this situation is a public health hazard due to the resulting environmental hazard from mold growth.

Purchased vehicle in nov 2018, less than one year than the date of this claim. On nine different occasions my vehicle experienced one or more of the following: loss of all electrical power, steering, acceleration control, fuel pump/injectors, timing of the rpm, and other related issues leaving me stranded in the middle of nowhere, immediately and instantaneously stalled out on highways and major freeways without warning, some of which nearly led to vehicular accidents from sudden loss of all electronic equipment and power of the truck, with hundreds of individuals having experienced the same or similar issues with this year and model f-150. In the midst of all of this, i've spent over $3,500+ in repairs between the date of purchase to date of this claim to the ecm, fuel pump module, fuel injector harness, battery, ignition switch, mass flow air sensor, camshaft position sensors, serpentine belt, and normal maintenance, and have been informed that i now need a new engine, another $5,000 on top of the present $6,784 lien currently on the vehicle. The physical safety of myself and others has not only been placed in jeopardy, but this issue and vehicle has placed me in a serious, delinquent, and seemingly impossible financial position. I can't even get the car to run now, it will not drive after the engine suddenly stalled out 15 days ago as i lost all ability to accelerate on freeway; engine was overheating and had no oil pressure. Timing chains, rod, main bearing and camshafts all need repair with no guarantee that i won't be placed in the same or similar position again if i were to correct, possible bankruptcy if left uncorrected. Ford wants $400 more for inspection, makes no guarantee all issues will he identified and refuses to make repairs or take responsibility for their faulty 5.4l v8 triton engine & electrical system that are 'built ford tough.' please help.

Takata recall the brake lights in my dashboard is always lit up also the stablity lite is always on .i took it to the mechanic to have it check and was told is was a defect with the computer system and should bring it to the dealer or see if there any recalls for this problem .this occurs as soon as i turn on the engine both lights in motion ,stationary, highway etc .

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving 30 mph, the emergency parking brake, abs, and electronic stability control indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to greenway ford (9001 e colonial dr, orlando, fl 32817) where it was diagnosed that the abs control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 84,869. ...updated 07/10/17 updated 12/1/2017

At less than 63,000 miles, my ford f-150 5.4 liter engine is failing.i just returned from the dealership earlier today with over $2800 worth of repair estimates; however, the vehicle shook and rattled when idling at a stop light and appeared to be overheating.vehicle is garage kept, gets regular oil changes and maintenance, and is driven mainly on highways.i do not pull anything (boats, campers, etc.).internet forums are loaded with complains about this engine and all surround the cam phasers and local engine parts failing.ford has no recall and will do nothing!i have a case in their system as of this evening and would like the government to start issuing guidance to consumers and get a recall process underway.issue was first noticed when i tried to start the truck one night in mid-june.i was finally able to get an appointment in mid-july to get this diagnosis.

I bought this vehicle used with 151,000 miles on it. It ran good for a couple weeks then it stalled when i was going into a left hand turn but restarted. It repeated the problem a few more times then would not restart. I towed it back to the used car dealer i bought it from and they replacedd the fuel pump. That lasted about 2 weeks now the problem has returned. I seen many owners had the same problem with their trucks. Ford need's to take care of this before someone gets killed. The vehicle stalled under all conditions. At a idle, at 70 miles an hour on the interstate, in the city at 40 mph

Cracked exhaust manifold2009 ford f150 5.4 triton v8. I have now cracked the second right side engine exhaust manifold. This is irritating as exhaust fumes enter the passenger cab when stopped.

Spark plug ejection. On 4/24/16, #3 cylinder ejected the spark plug, recommended repair was to use/install heli-coil. 7/1/16, #3 cylinder ejected the spark plug again, this time damaging the cylinder head. Now waiting for an estimate and to see if the head can be repaired or has to be replaced. Both times, vehicle was accelerating from a stop when traffic light changed from red to green.

While in drive at idle speed the trucks rpm jumped to approximately 4000 rpm instantly . I had to push my foot brake as hard as i could and put shifter in neutral then it was ok for a while then this happened again several weeks later took to dealer no check engine light could not find a problem very dangerous situation.

Dropped off vehicle with ford dealership service adviser and proceeded to waiting area.vehicle had a steady yellow engine light indicating service is required.five minutes later, loud engine racing noise, tires squealing and crash impact sound from service bay area.knowing it was my truck, i went out to the service bay to see it slammed through the far stone wall, about 75 feet from the service desk.hydraulic fluid was all over the floor, outside and inside of the truck.service adviser was stunned and crawled out of vehicle claiming it suddenly accelerated and he could not put the vehicle into neutral or park as the engine raced at full rpm.service adviser was sent to hospital.ford service manager was concerned and agreed to check engine codes, he talked like he'd seen this happen before.all service engineers were concerned about spontaneous acceleration they all witnessed as the truck miraculously barreled through the service bays without hitting any of the workers.later in the day, i returned to check status and everyone at dealership changed their story.they will not tell me why the truck accelerated like it did, but will not admit there was human error either.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving 50 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

While driving in a parking lot at speed below 5 mph, the engine began to shake and chatter. The sound and vibration went away at speeds above 5 mph. I was able to duplicate the problem repeatedly. The local dealer said it was the cam phaser, and they needed to be replaced. This 2009 truck was assembled in november of 2008. Truck was purchased used with 36000 miles in november of 2014. Cam phasers replaced at 43800 miles.

Engine began to shake at 65mph.pulled over and engine was shot.possible cam phasers.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. The contact stated that after starting the engine, there was a loud, abnormal noise emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. The failure and the current mileage was 59,000.

Spark plug blowout in rush hour traffic.

Coming home, something let lose under the hood and was tinking. Ended up having it towed home where we found out the spark plug ejected. Called the dealership as i just bought my truck 2 months ago, they couldn't do anything. Called ford corp they wouldn't give me any information. After doing research i found this was a tbs. I called a ford dealer to see what to do. He told me it would have to be fixed at my expense. Took it to a garage where they figured the spark plug ejected and ruined a few other parts that needed to be replaced. After a week later i have my truck back. Not sure how much it cost yet, the bill is in the mail once he figures it out!

Spark plugs can not be removed due to most breaking. Most of the spark plugs are frozen and break when you try to remove. Ford recommends replacing plugs at 100000 miles.

2009 ford f150 has been shaking at idle or when going slow when vehicle is not in park. It shakes and jerks terribly bad. It has caused me to stall at a stop light waiting for the light to turn green and i've nearly been hitin the rear multiple times and this is not counting the road rage people have when this happens. Took it to a shop and was told it was a cam phaser. Found out this is a common problem with ford's 5.4 but ford isn't doing anything about it. I guess if you just get ran into and not killed from something then it's not serious enough to own up to it and issue a recall? this is ridiculous and dangerous!! besides not having $4k to fix it i've also been told that it often requires you to get a new engine. If i don't have $4k i definitely don't have $8k for a new engine. Someone needs to help us please!!!

While driving the vehicle engine lost all power and when i pulled over to the side of the road the engine died.tried restarting the engine multiple times, and it would start but only run for a few seconds and then die.had it towed to the local ford dealer and they could not replicate the problem.have had the same issue 4 more times since then.vehicle engine dies but the last few times has restarted.took it into the local ford dealer again and again they could not replicate the problem.

Ford motor company has installed defective fasteners on the exhaust manifolds of numerous modular v8 (4.6l & 5.4l) equipped f-150s. This is a well documented issue among several f-150 owners throughout the us and canada for many model years. The problem with these manifold fasteners (studs) is that after the normal heat cycles of driving and sitting, they begin to deteriorate at an excelled rate. Once a stud or studs have failed, engine emissions leave the exhaust system prior to reaching the catalytic converter. The way to repair this is by removing the exhaust system and manifolds in order to extract the broken stud or studs and replace them with improved parts, in many cases the entire engine must be removed from the vehicle due to clearance issues. Not only is this issue very costly to the consumer and the environment it is also an arduous process to be repaired even by someone that is mechanically inclined.my 2009 f-150 currently has this same issue.evidence that this has been a consistent problemfor almost a decade:service bulletin no.: 17320component(s): engine and engine coolingnhtsa id number: 10008169

Exhaust manifold leak due to broken exhaust manifold to head bolts. On cold start there is a moderately loud exhaust leak that diminishes as the engine heats up. Vehicle was stationary and parked when first noticed.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was an exhaust leak and fractured bolts in the manifold. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the vehicle should be taken to an authorized dealer for further diagnostic testing. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine cam, timing sensors, and gears failed and the engine would need to be replaced. The failure occurred 24 hours after the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,136.

On december 15, 2017, while driving on i35 in heavy traffic in fort worth, texas, the f150 autonomously accelerated to maximum rpm and would not slow down.the cruise control was not on. We were forced to ride the breaks hard until we were able to exit the freeway, put the vehicle in neutral and break to a stop.we turned the vehicle off and restarted.the vehicle still went to maximum rpms so we shut down the vehicle again.five minutes later we restarted the vehicle and the engine performed normally.we drove it immediately to our local auto repair shop. The local auto repair center was not able to replicate the issue and the vehicle shows no fault codes.upon searching the internet, we discovered no open recalls on this vehicle andwe are not the only ford customers to experience this issue.

Spark plug blows out of heads at 80774 miles prior to first tune up interval. Could of caused a engine fire.

2009 ford f150 with 146,000 miles needed to have engine replaced due to scored cams.it appears this has been a common problem with the 5.4 engines.we are one-time owners of this vehicle and have great maintenance records. I believe a recall should be made for this

I was on the highway and when i attempted to pass a vehicle, when i floored the gas pedal the truck lost all power for 3 to 5 seconds almost causing an accident. It has been that way from the day i bought it until present. When i questioned the dealer on the lose of power problem i was told nothing can be done about it because it is a normal issue with fly by wire accelerator.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred on one other occasion. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle had carbon build up. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,250.

Spark plug blowout while driving on a city street. Common problem with 4.6l 2v triton engines from my search results. Ford should be responsible for fixing the issue as there is only a few threads holding the spark plug in the engine heads.

Purchased this vehicle used from a well known and popular dealer in utah.we did not note any noises during the test ride and vehicle appeared in great condition.on the drive home (of course) we stopped for dinner. Noticed a loud knocking noise coming from the engine. This continued and worsened and we feared the vehicle would stall.the problem subsided when the rpm's increased slightly.we were able to duplicate the problem repeatable in a parking lot at low speeds and low rpms.specifically when turning left and the problem worsened when the 4x4 was selected.i video taped the engine noise as proof for the dealership.doing research we have noted that this is a common problem with the 2009 f150 5.4 l.range of problems described as either cam phaser or internal engine problem.corrections have been noted as either cam phaser replacements (not very helpful) or full engine replacement.taking the vehicle back to the dealer this morning to return.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving 55 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was not able to restart the vehicle for approximately 30 minutes. The contact referenced tsb number: 15-0137 (crank no-start, stalling) as a possible cause of the failure. The dealer (mossy ford, 858-273-7500) was called and stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

After accelerating to pass on the highway (65 mph to 70 mph), the truck remained going 70 mph when accelerator released.vehicle could be slowed with difficulty by applying brakes, but would resume speed when brakes released.fortunately, traffic was light.cruise control was not being used at time of incident.attempted to resolve issue for approximately 4 miles/minutes at highway speeds (determined accelerator not stuck on floor mat, engaged and disengaged cruise control, braked repeatedly while making sure i was also not hitting the accelerator).eventually slowed vehicle to approximately 10 mph with extreme braking on an uphill incline, at which point vehicle would not slow any further.took truck out of gear and shut off engine (vehicle stopped).had towed to service department of ford dealer who "could not reproduce problem" but replaced electric throttle body assembly and cleared/reprogrammed computer.when asked if incidents such as these are reported to ford for their database, the service representative said no, that they had no means to do so.

My truck stalled while entering freeway lanes. I went from 60mph to 10mph and was nearly read ended. The truck finally stalled just as i made it to the shoulder. Two hours later, my truck stalled while doing 40mph on a surface street. I had to pull into a center turn lane to avoid blocking traffic. Fuel was at half a tank. Oil level was good.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While attempting to start the vehicle, the engine turned over but did not start. The vehicle was inspected by two independent mechanics who replaced the #27 fuse and relay, but were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also replaced the battery and fuel module in the vehicle, but the failure continued. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and transferred the contact directly to the nhtsa hotline to check for recalls and to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

No problems until about 60,000 miles.then one day, while stopped, the truck suddenly died, the check engine light came on, and the gas gauge would indicated a quarter tank when the tank was actually full.all of this happened at the same time.i had two oxygen sensors replaced (about $400) to clear the check engine light and the fuel pump replaced (about $700) on the recommendation of the ford service department to cure the gas gauge problem.while turning across oncoming traffic, the vehicle has died and was hard to steer.oncoming cars had to brake rapidly as i have had a hard time steering with no power.this has now happened numerous times. The truck dies or runs very rough and nearly stalls almost every time i drive it more than a mile or so.there is no check engine code and the dealer stated it could not be duplicated when i took it in for evaluation.this has the potential for creating a dangerous situation.i would fix this issue if it could be identified.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted after one hour and operated normally however, the failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but they were unable to detect a trouble code or diagnose the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

My truck has only 30,000 miles on it. While driving it, the 5.4 liter engine started knocking severely and would not power the vehicle. I managed to avoid a major accident and get it pulled over to the side of the freeway. I had fortunately purchased the extended warranty and took it to the dealer. When i got it to the dealer, all the service writers acknowledged that the 5.4 has a serious problem. The mechanic examined it and stated that it was a cam phaser issue. Here is the problem: ford knows that the 5.4 liter engine has this problem and will not acknowledge it because there are 1,000s of these on the road and they do not want to pay to fix them. That is why they discontinued the engine. What is really bad, is that the nhtsa knows about it as well. Ford needs to fix these trucks before someone gets hurt. I barely got the truck pulled over on the southern california 405 freeway!i will never buy a ford product again. I am going back to my trusted toyota brand!

While driving 60 mph, i left off the accelerator to slow down to 45 mph the posted speed limit ahead. At 45 mph, i slightly touched the accelerator to maintain the 45 mph speed limit, the rpm's went over 4000 and would not stop. I applied the brake, but the engine kept the rpm's between 4000 and 4200. I stomped on the brake with both feet and the un-intended acceleration stayed at the higher rpm. I could hear the anti-lock brakes engage to help slow the truck down, but the engine labored over 4000 rpm. I was concerned with not being able to stop the truck, so i shifted the transmission into neutral and coasted to the berm of the road with the engine staying at a very high rpm. Once i came to a complete stop, i shifted the truck into park and the rpm's were over 6000. I immediately shut off the engine and waited a few seconds before trying to re-start the truck. I checked the condition of the floor mat asap to verify it was not on top of the accelerator. This happened to my wife less than a year ago and nothing was found at the ford dealership and the ogc reviews suggested that the floor mat may have caused the first un-intended acceleration. As i turned the key, the engine would not start and it made a clicking noise. I got out of the truck and opened the hood to check the motor. I could not see anything, so i went back into the cab and started the truck. It started, but would not idle, the rpm's went to over 6000 and stayed constant. I shut the truck off again and waited a few seconds and on the third attempt, i shut the truck back off, because the rpm's would not idle and went to 6000 and stayed there. I adjusted the power adjustable foot pedals and waited a few seconds and the truck started and idled at normal rpm's. I left the truck at the dealership on 7/31/13 for an inspection....updated 09-26-13

I experienced unintended acceleration while backing up.i had just started the engine and placed it in reverse and then tapped the accelerator lightly to start moving.the vehiclethen started to accelerate rapidly backwards.luckily my foot was off the accelerator for i was in a school parking lot and on a slight incline so i was riding the brake lightly.i had my right foot fully on the brake pedal and could barely keep it slowed.i placed the engine in neutral and the tach showed a steady 4000 rpm, again my foot was still off the accelerator.i then turned off the engine and restarted and all seem normal.i took it to the dealer and they could not duplicate or show any computer code errors.

I have taken my truck to ford and it happens when i,m pulling in to park or backing up in a space to park, the trucks engine starts to shake and than stall, when ford put thething to attach under your steering wheel it did not show on the screen, i had a private mech. Do the same thing and he could not find it either. I do think this is a safety problem because my truck has also gone dead in the road waiting for thelight to change and stall...now it is happening a lot , i talk to the ford dealer a states that it is now out of warranty . The problem started even when the warranty was still good on the truck.

The check engine light started going on and off periodically. After three visits to the dealer they determined that there are no mechanical problems. They researched and determined there is a computer program problem with the main computer that causes the light to go on. They told me that i would have to pay to get an update to the computer program that would correct this problem. It cost me three visits and a $85 bill to find out the problem is with their computer program. They know there is a problem with their program and they want the vehicle owner to pay over $200 to fix it. How do they figure that is the owner's fault?

From a moving left turn, the engine cut out/shutoff.no sputter, no warning signals.this is the only occurrence at this time.dealership contacted.

I was involved in a low speed frontal collision with my 2009 ford f150 pick up. The collision was off center left with another ford f150 (1993-1994 model). The speed of the vehicles was less than 40 mph as the collision happened on a hilly and twisting road. My vehicle caught fire on impact and was completely engulfed in just over a minute. My drivers door would not open and i had to exit the vehicle on the passenger side. My wife and i were not injured as the air bags and seat belts worked properly. We never made contact with the air bags and sustained no seat belt bruising or other injuries.

I was on the interstate 30 east bound just east of downtown fort worth traveling at 55 mph in my 2009 f 150.i began accelerating to overtake a slower vehicle. The throttle stuck at what seem to be a wide open position, i had passed the car and let off the gas and pressed the brake 3 times before for the truck stopped accelerating and i had reached a speed of 95 mph before i was able to get the truck back under control. It seemed like the throttle was stuck for around 10 seconds, which was a very scary 10 seconds. I just finished reading a few forums where the dealership said it was the rubber floor mats that caused the problem. Well i have not put floor mats in my truck so that was defiantly not the cause of the problem.

Accelerator pedal on 2009 ford f-150 pickup truck gets stuck on the floor.appears to be getting hung up on rubber floor mats.this has occurred 2 times in my truck and others at my company have also experienced the problem.

Driving sown road, a/c fan quit and smoke came out of the vents. A fire started under the dash on passenger side.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. While the vehicle was parked the contact noticed that the passengers side front headlight was not working. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technicians were unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. The technicians replaced the smart junction box. The contact stated that the smart box needed to be reprogrammed because it did not contain all of the features that were included prior to the repair. The dealer was contacted and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The contact was unable to reach the manufacturer. The approximate failure was 20,000. Updated 3/25/11 updated 04/28/11

This complaint is about "all cars" that come equipped with these new style bright white / blue headlight bulbs.and the entire secondary market where people can purchase these light bulbs to replace their existing headlight bulbs.the problem is the at night they are do [xxx] bright, i can't tell if they are on low or high beams, i'm constantly flashing my high beams to these cars.this past week one was so bright that i couldn't see and almost drove off the road..... They should be taken "off them market", or at least limit the brightness or have a standard brightness (a maximum that has been tested on real people at night).they have caused or triggered me to have an ocular migraine in my left eye, which makes it difficult to see at night, some people when they have ocular migraines triggered from bright lights have the migraine in the middle of they eye and can not see anything. I'm telling you someone is going to die because of this issue, if they haven't already.if it has happened already, no one probably knows why the accident happened, because no one is asking the question about these dangerous headlamps.please look into this for me and the general public.age is of concern as well, the older you get your eyes become more sensitive to these bright white and blue lights, in my mind they are very dangerous.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that the vehicle's floor was damp and there was an odor inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that water was seeping into the vehicle through the third brake light and collecting underneath the rear seat carpets. The dealer removed the rear brake light and replaced the seal and light. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 11v049000 (structure) however, the failure reoccurred two years after the repair. The contact mentioned that the driver interior door latch spring fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact also mentioned the fuel cap fractured. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage for all failures was 40,000.

Water has been found building up under the plastic kickplate in the right rear passenger door of my 2009 f150 supercrew model. I have taken it twice to the dealer and both times they have ordered a new third brake light as condensation was forming. They stated the seal wasn't strong enough and wasn't sealing properly. Also said this is common with f150s. They said they have replaced this numerous times on different f150s, and sooner or later ford would issue a recall. Did not notice the problem until i started smelling mold and mildew and lifted the kickplate to notice the carpet was soaked and water forming in the well.

While driving in a rainstorm a passenger in the right rear seat noticed water pouring in from the headline onto her shoulder.first glance we thought maybe the window seal was leaking.called the dealership and started explaining the situation and before i could complete my sentence they replied "...oh yes its the third brake light seal, bring it in and we'll replace it."wow a known issue and i was never informed of the problem.when replacing the seal i had requested that the headliner be removed and inspected for mold and any rust that may have formed, or any damage to electrical components.the service manager assured me that it was done and nothing else was wrong, i suppose only time will tell.

3rd brake light lamp leaks and has for the last 3- 4 months. Water leaks around the light and drips down the ceiling of the cab down back wall of the truck into the carpet of my truck. It going to use it to start to smell and mold. I called the local ford dealer repair shop they told me he has replaced hundreds of these lamps and the new ford part never leaks while he has seen several of the after market ones always leak. Ford should replace all of these at their expense, as they obviously have a gasket design flaw.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that he noticed wet spots on the headliner. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact the company was aware of a bad gasket in the tail light that would cause water damage. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 65,000.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While parked, the contact noticed water leaking in the middle of the rear seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The technician stated that the gasket in the tail light was loose, causing water to enter the vehicle. The carpet and the middle arm rest in the rear of the vehicle contained mildew. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact noticed that after severe rain, water leaked through the third brake light and an accumulation of water leaked into the headliner of the vehicle. A strong mildew odor emitted inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the third brake light would need to be replaced. The manufacturer has never been notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.updated 04/14/16*ljthe consumer requested information concerning the investigation into the malfunction. Updated 09/05/2017

On or about aug & 2013 the vehicle mention above would start and then stall . I took the ford f150 to palm bay ford in palm bay fl. I was visiting my stepson at the time. I am form ga. The ford dealer had it for 3 days and said that there was nothing wrong. On feb 7 2014 the same thing happen. This time they towed the ford to there place from my stepsons home. They had the vehicle for 3 days. And finally said that the fuel pump driver module had failed. I cannot believe that they would not know the first time this happen. They charged me 652.09 for the repair. I know that i am not the first person this has happen to. What would have happen if this module failed when i was on interstate 95. This could have caused and accident or worse. Ford should recall this device because of the failure of the module and where is placed(under the spare tire) and the two different metals that cause corrosion.

My engine light came on the code read bad fuel pump module.

First, the fuel door fell off the truck.later that evening i heard a weird suction sound coming from the fuel door area.it began to idle rough, then would not want to start after fill ups.when you would stick the gas nozzle in the tank a loud "whoosh" sound would emit as it relieved pressure.my gas gauge stopped functioning and all of these issues eventually leading to the tank imploding/collapsing on itself.this bent the fuel pump and gas gauge inside the tank.i paid out of pocket to have it fixed because the ford dealership told me the warranty only "covered moving parts".i asked if the fuel gauge float and fuel pump moved.they enjoyed my rhetoric, but declined to fix the problem.they only replaced a sensor that threw a lean bank one code and caused the check engine light to come on.i drove it for the next year or so using the odometer to tell me when to fill up as my gas gauge no longer worked..fast forward a year and a half, and running out of gas 3 or 4 times, and it has done the same thing to me again.i just paid $972.19 to a private garage to replace the fuel pump, but i only got a 90 day warranty on the work and no guarantee that this issue will not happen again.when i googled the make and model of the truck i found all kinds of information about people having the same problem, yet ford acted like they have never heard of this before.i understand i am responsible for keeping the truck running, but nothing about the way i operate the vehicle made it do this.if i get in a wreck, i should pay to fix it.this is a design flaw and should be recalled.btw i was doing 70 mph on the interstate when it shut down most recently and traffic had me boxed in.it nearly caused a collision just getting it off the road.had i died, no one would have questioned what caused the accident.

I stopped at the mobil kanagroo express gas station in gainesville to fill my 2009 ford f150 up with gas.i used the handle lock on the gas nozzle to fill the tank.i also held it with my hand.when it was not yet full the nozzle flew out of the filler tube spraying gasoline all over me and the ground.i pulled the truck away from the gas pumps because i was worried about a fire.i went into the store explainto the clerk what happened and told him that he had a problem out at the pump because there was a puddle of gasoline still on the ground.i had a change of clothes with me and the clerk gave me a bar of soap to wash up with. The clerk said the gas at the pump would just evaporate.i also reported the incident to the gainesville fire department who said they would check the stations pumps.i don't know whether it was the fault of the truck or the gas pump but i was afraid of dying because i was covered in gasoline.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the battery was defective and that the vehicle ran out of fuel. The vehicle was taken to another dealer who diagnosed that the fuel tank had collapsed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who stated that they would contact him back at a later date. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 52,000.

My 2009 ford f150 suffers engine stall when stopping in traffic. There are no diagnostic indications (engine light, codes stored). It has a "lifetime" fuel filter, so it cannot be changed.when the engine stalls, power steering and power brakes are lost, resulting in possibility of rolling into oncoming traffic. I have suffered 3 near misses in the past 3 days. Ford will not accommodate my schedule for service.

**catastrophic fuel tank failure**two days ago my 2009 f150 died in my driveway, it acted as if out of fuel even though the gage read over half a tank.i had it towed to a ford dealer and was initially informed that the truck was out of gas and the fuel gage wasn't working.a new unit was ordered and once the tank was removed from the truck it was discovered that the issue was exceedingly more severe.the mechanic and a ford engineer concluded that the charcoal purge valve failed and the fuel pump created such a strong vacuum that the fuel tank collapsed on itself and crushed the fuel pump.although the truck has only 15,000 miles it is not a warranty repair due to a salvage title on the vehicle.after the inspection it was concluded that the fuel tank unit was not damage or effected by any incident and was in standard operating condition when the event occurred.i also understand that since this is not a warranty repair, ford will not be collecting the parts for further evaluation.i believe this to be a mistake!i have asked to keep these parts and will provide them to ford if need be.as an engineer i believe this to be a design flaw that could present a severe safety hazard.

Gas gauge suddenly doesn't register correctly. Only shows approximate three quarters tank when tank is fully filled. When registering one quarter tank only takes $15- to $16 to refuel. Repair shops have not been able to determine cause. What can be the cause.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000. The current mileage was 51,335. Rk

While passing a slow moving vehicle the throttle stuck and although no pressure was on the gas pedal, it kept accelerating. By heavy use of the brake, i was able to return to town, where i shut the engine down. It is still locked on, as when i start it, the rpm's jump to 4000 immediately. I have called the ford dealership and requested a tow. This was frightening, as i had my grandson in the vehicle with me.

This has occurred many times. The vehicle stalls when slowing down due to the fuel pump inside the fuel tank getting bent upward due to the tank collapsing on itself because it is not designed to vent properly. I have already replaced the fuel pump but it only corrected the problem temporarily because it has been bent as well over a short period of time. The gas gauge reads improperly as well due to the pump not reaching the bottom of the tank. I can only fit about 17 gallons into a 30 gallon tank upon refilling. The stalling that this causes has almost caused me to have multiple accidents. I have researched this problem and have found many other owners to have the same problem and have had accidents. Ford refuses to correct the problem without charging. It is very expensive to have the fuel pump replaced and that does not fix the problem. This is a design problem that ford needs to repair. Please require ford to recall and fix this design flaw before someone else is killed or injured.

Vehicle only has 4,000 miles.complete fuel line failed according to dealer and was dripping gasoline on exhaust from engine to tank.it was smoldering and almost ignited over the weekend. First noticed strong gasoline smell in cab. Inspection station noticed leak and was towed to dealer. They are special ordering parts.truck is at park cities ford 3333 inwood road, dallas, tx 214-358-8800.

My vehicle simply stalled without warning while i was traveling on the highway, twice. After a small cool down period, the vehicle started up again and seemed fine till a few days later when it happened again on the highway. According to ford, this is a very common problem with a fuse that controls the fuel pump. It overheats and fails causing the fuel pump to stop working. They also have a $20 kit to fix the problem because it is so common. Why this is not a recall is beyond me. My wife and i could have been seriously hurt or worse.

I was pulling my boat, when coming to a stop, to park the truck, it suddenly accelerated. I had to turn off the key to stop it. I restarted the vehicle and drove around to block and come back to make another stop and it happened again. I again turned off the key. I let the truck set for about an hour and restarted it with no other incidents. I am very afraid it will happen again. Took it back to the ford dealer when i got home and they say they cannot find any problem.

Slowing to make a right turn, the engine fell dead. I was able to start it and pull out of traffic before it fell dead again. Numerous times after i fill up, the engine was hard to start. It sputtered and stalled and finally started. I took the vehicle to the dealership service department but they were unable to find anything wrong. This happens without warning and could cause crashes if not repaired.

After attempting to dis-engage the child safety door lock feature that prevents the door from being opened from the inside, both the inside and outside door latches became completely inoperative preventing the door from being opened at all. I noted a similar complaint filed on the nhtsa site (complaint #10489372.) when i contacted the ford dealership for repair i was told that the new vehicle warranty had expired two months prior (march, 2013) and was therefore forced to pay nearly $400 for a new door latch. I would highly recommend an investigation into this issue as an inoperative door latch poses a very high risk of injury or death if occupants are unable to exit the vehicle.

Defective driver side key pad handle assembly. Robber can access lock from the bottom edge of trim, push up into the door cavity and unlock door with out showing any forced entry. Ford associate commentered it's a common problem with this design.

Letter regarding an original complaint to nhtsa in 2016 that has yet to be resolved by ford motor company. *ldthe consumer stated the rear doors could not be unlocked from the inside or the outside.

When engaged, the child safety lock on the ford f150 2009 causes the door to not have the capability of being opened from the outside.the purpose of the child safety lock is to prevent the door from being opened (by children) from the inside only.the inability of the door being able to be opened from the outside presents a grave risk of danger if this vehicle is engaged in an emergency situation which would prevent emergency personnel or any other personnel from being able to properly open the door potentially causing serious injury or death.in this particular case, my ford f150 2009 pickup truck is a four door crew cab model.when i engaged the child safety lock on the rear passenger side door for the very first time during ownership (12/16/2012), the door handle immediately would not work from both the inside (as expected) as well as the outside.i currently have three children under the age of four which are situated in car seats (as required by law) in the crew cab section of my truck.in the event of an emergency, great concern exists for the safety of my children as well as the children of fellow, unknowledgeable or unsuspecting ford f150 truck owners that this safety defect exists.thank you very much for your investigation into this safety issue.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact noticed that both rear doors failed to open. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the cable that released the locks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that both rear latches and locks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. When the vehicle was placed in reverse, it accelerated backwards and crashed into a neighbor's residence without warning. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact was not injured, but was shaken up and transported to the emergency center by the paramedic. The vehicle was destroyed and was towed to a tow yard. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

Since the day i purchased the truck, typically after being on highway for more than 100 miles, when i accelerate it will hesitate then slam into gear. There is a very loud bang that accompanies it along with a violent slam to the entire truck. Frequently happens when ascending hills.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was in park and it rolled backwards after removing the key from the ignition switch and exiting the vehicle. The contact also stated that on another occasion, the key was removed from the ignition switch while the gear was in reverse. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure millage was at 95,000.

Extremely hard downshift malfunction.vehicle violently shudders and slams hard into lower gear.

My 2009 ford f-150 has the reverse sensing system and camera as well as the sync package, so when in reverse the screen shows the objects behind and has parallel lines "truck width" & a center black line to judge where the truck is "aimed" in reverse. On the above date, all the lines disappeared from the screen.the next day the two lines (1/3 green,1/3 orange, 1/3 red were back on the screen as was the black center line. That evening as i left work i checked, no lines again. Same thing the next day, they are there once or twice in am, then disappear. Not a show stopper problem, but makes backing up with the camera a lot more difficult. Plan to approach dealer on this, but how do i show them the problem if i can't "make it happen", hopefully i'll get lucky!!!if someone has had similar experience with this sync computer system, maybe there is a solution existent ????

I have a loud noise coming from the rear there's a humming sound the faster i go the louder the noise gets.

Vehicle vibrates at highway speed seems to come from right rear. Have taken it to three dealers they could not fix problem. Dealer stated all 2009 f-150s do the same. Replaced tires but still has same problem.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the contact attempted to shift into park but the shifter would not hold in park. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer where they advised the contact that she needed a new transmission. The vehicle was repaired for the transmission. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure and the current mileages were approximately 71,000. The vin was unavailable.

I came home and noticed fluid on my driveway and upon further inspection i found it coming from the wire harness sleeve in the transmission. I called the dealership and they said they are so backed up with this issue and other transmission issues that it would be a month before they could take my truck in. This is a known problem and they are trying to charge $650 dollars to fix it ( $120 in parts and maybe 1 1/2 hrs work).....this needs to be recalled.

The rear drive shaft between transfer case and rear differential is held by a drive shaft bracket/bearing where the top of it is welded to the frame cross member.during stop and go traffic the poorly welded bracket came loose.as you can see from the picture the weld was poorly done and had no penetration into the metal.the metal was not torn at all and broke completely clean off which dictate a very poor job on the weld itself.to make matters worse this part is basically a dual sharp blades at the weld break, connected to the drive shaft at fast rpms would take little to no time to puncture and ignite the near by fuel tank.as i was traveling at slow speeds i was able to stop the vehicle right away.if this break occurred at highway speeds i feel that it would have easily punctured the fuel tank and ignited the fuel causing catastrophic fire and probable explosion that could cause injury or death.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that all of the transmission fluid leaked out of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the grommet had failed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,000 and the current mileage was 71,100.

Had to replace complete drive shaft because of bad carrier bearing, twice

Vibration felt in feet seat and is noticable in items within the cab of the vehicle.vehicle has had tires replaced, driveline balanced. Ford dealership says the vehcile has an "inherent vibration" and there is nothing they can do. I wonder if this a safety concern?? why does it vibrate and will something brake?i believe the "inherent vibration" is a defect.

While traveling to work brakes went all the way down to the floor and then my abs & brake check system lightcame on has not turned off.truck isnot safe to drive

I purchased a ford f150 crew cab 4x4 brand new in 2009.at 35000 kms (+/-), 55000 kms (+/-) and now 90000 kms, the "clutch packs" had to be replaced.when pulling a trailer or boat and the drive train gets hot, the drive train grinds and shakes badly.i spoke to service at dealership & was told this is a common occurrence and several other owners from that dealership alone have had the same complaint.i am worried that when driving at freeway speeds with a trailer attached that something is going to let go and cause a serious accident.something should be done at ford to fix this manufacturing defect before someone is seriously injured or killed.

2009 ford f150 rolled back while in park*cw

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and was unable to stop. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred while the cruise control was engaged. Also, the contact stated that in order to control the vehicle, the transmission had to be shifted into the neutral position.the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,000.

Hard to steer

My 2009 f 150 rolled backwards down a hill when in park with the engine off and no one inside.i took it to the dealer (under warranty) but they scratched their head and said use the emergency brake.i learned others (google search) had the same thing happen.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. When stopped on a hill the vehicle does not go forward it rolls backwards and then the engine stalls.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer at least seven times and was given a letter stating this was a characteristic of the vehicle. He added that the failure wasprogrammedinto the computer so no repairs could be made. The failure mileage was 6,000.the consumer stated 1st gear would become inoperable after stopping and trying to take off. The engine would rev as if the gear were in neutral.updated 02/11/10.

Transmission slips, chatters, surges, and has moved truck ahead a few feet (into intersection) starts to slip leaves you sitting in traffic and won't move for a few seconds. It goes into a neutral state slams into gears so hard it causes you to lose control in slick conditions. It has also stuck in between gears causing us to have to stop shut the truck off and restart to get going again.

2009 f-150 w/ @ 15,000 miles has erratic shifting and has a failing "park" gear.approximately 20% of the time "park" will not engage and allows the vehicle to roll on an incline.no repair has been made at this time.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that the transmission exhibited a delay in shifting. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and had the transmission calibrated, but the repair only lasted four to five days before the failure recurred. The dealer then told the contact that the vehicle was designed to shift in the manner that is was and that there was nothing that could be done to correct the failure. The contact believed the failure was a safety issue because there was a delay in acceleration going from second to third gears. The failure mileage was 18,500 and the current mileage was 24,152.updated 11/18/11*ljthe consumer also stated there was a delay going from first to second gear. The dealer reprogrammed the tcm/pcm and reset the adaptive shift strategies. Updated 03/05/12

2009 ford f-150 with an automatic six speed transmission rolls backwards when stopped on a grade if the gear selector is either in 2 or 3.was advised by both myford dealer and ford customer service that this was "normal".i have never owned a vehicle with an automatic transmission that rolled backwards like the vehicle was in neutral.since ford recommends driving in "3 " when on grade, the potential exists for rolling backwards an causing an accidentafter stopping.i have an email from ford's customer service stating that this is "normal".if ford is not going to fix this issue, they should at least prominently note the problem in their owners manual.i was not involved in an accident, but was shocked when this first happened.i would not have purchased the vehicle if this was a know problem.

Experienced multiple transmission failures at low miles (9,000, then 15,000, then 17,000).the ford dealer would not replace transmission until the 3rd failure occurred.the first two times, the transmission was burned out and they replaced the bad parts.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150 which was purchased brand new in 2009. While driving speeds over 20 mph, the transmission would shake violently while shifting gears. The dealer verified that there was an issue and reprogrammed a sensor to correct the failure. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they were not aware of any issue that existed in the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 14,000.

The contact stated that he was taking the vehicle to the dealer for the forth time for transmission failures. The dealer advised that the manufacturer was using a different type of transmission for his particular year, make and model vehicle.the contact stated that the transmission fluid was leaking abnormally, the internal wiring harness was replaced as well as the automatic transmission gasket. The vehicle was shifting extremely hard and exhibiting a loud bang sound when shifting between any gear. The vehicle was not further repaired. When starting or stopping, vehicle has a thump and slight surge forward, dealer says problem is from the 2 speed rear axle, and ford has yet to get a fix for it, contacted ford, and they say they have no problem even dealer told me many similar problems with this vehicle.

Seat belt mechanism in the drivers side, rear door fails to recoil back therefore, the main mechanism at the bottom twists and i am not able to extend the seat belt safely unless i reopen the door and unwind the seat belt (this happens before i put my truck in motion and sometimes i do not realize it is twisted until the vehicle is in motion and i have to pull over and untwist the seat belt).....also, this has caused the rubber/plastic piece along the side of the floor on the drivers side to tear, exposing wires, which are also a safety issue.

While on vacation my 13 year old granddaughter was lying down and had her seat belt around her when she sat up the belt became locked and we were unable to release it. I tried to get it to release but it tightened even more.my husband therefore had to cut the seatbelt to get her out as it had tighten to the point that her stomach was squeezed so tight it was making her cry. I thought at first it was because she had been lying down. Now the other scenario is on august 12, 2010 my seat belt was becoming uncomfortable so i went to pull it down, it locked and i had to unhook it to get it to release and that took several tries. I have not fixed the seat belt. I am also reporting this in case another person should have a similar experience. The vehicle is a 2009 ford f 150. For the record this was two different incidents. My granddaughter was july 29 and mine was august 12.

The design of the shoulder belt in the rear outboard seats on the 2009 ford f150 supercrew is flawed. My wife is 5' 1" tall and the shoulder belt cuts across her neck at a position that if we were in an accident it would definitely injure her neck. The belt is anchored too high on the side pillar of the truck to allow anyone less than about 5'4 to sit comfortably with it on. I have digital photos of my wife sitting the rear seat with the shoulder belt as it fits on her. If you wish i will send them on as i see no way to attach the photos to this form.in texas the law now requires all riders to have the belts fastened. Yet my wife must put the shoulder belt behind her to avoid injury or just for comfort sake.

No incident, an inquiry: headrest on ford 2009 f150 supercab truck is angled 54 degrees forward relative to the seat back. Driving with back against seat, head is pushed forward and down limiting head mobility and vision.with head on rest and back forward of the seat, concern is that airbag deployment would result in a severe snap of the head forward and down as back is pushed to the seat - is this a valid concern?

Head rests in the way, seem to be to large, mostly noted when backing up & trying to look out back window, also on a person 5' foot tall (a woman ) the head rest hits them in the back of the head ,makes it very unplasent to ride in. The truckunder that condtion .

While my truck was parked in my driveway, we had a very bad tropical storm come through, when i went to get in my truck i noticed that my back seat was wet and the back of my head lining was wet and had water spots on it. So i took my truck to the dealer thinking my rear window was leaking, but they told me that it was my third brake light and the seal around it was bad. So instead of it being covered under the trucks warranty they told me i would have to pay to get it fixed plus pay for my seats to be cleaned from the water damage. Because it is still raining i did not have no choice, but i think that if ford have had all these complaints about the same problems happening to other vehicles, they should have a recall and be responsible for paying for the repairs and water damage caused by their manufacturing defect. We pay to much money for these vehicles to have to put with a company that knows they have a problem and want do nothing to fix it, but makes the customer suffers and pays the price for their neglect.

The contact owned a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated while at a standstill, the contact was rear ended by another vehicle at moderate speeds. The seat belt did not have a low sensing mechanism causing him to jolt forward and the seat belt tightened too tightly on him resulting in micro tears of his intestines. The contact required medical attention that lead to surgery and the removal of portions of his intestines. The vehicle was driven back to the residence of the contact where it was diagnosed with a frame crack which resulted in the vehicle deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not informed of failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.

When adjusted according to the owners manual, head rests force the head towards the chin and are very uncomfortable.dealer stated that this is the new safety design.headrests are non adjustable.also, they are very wide and, in conjunction with the frame post at the rear of the doors, create a blind spot on both sides of the pickup.

Seat cushions kept coming loose on both seats,my dealer said in oct.2009 ford has a fix but as of feb.1,2010 my dealer still has no parts to fix. I took my new 2009 f-150 to a auto upholstery shop and had repaired. I paid $40 to have both seats removed and repaired. Dealer won't refund my money, truck has 5,823 miles and purchased new 5-26-2009. Also the head restraints are too big and lean forward too much plus they create a blind spot when backing up.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that the driver and passenger side headrests were not adjustable and constantly struck him in the back of the neck. The manufacturer stated that it was a new design for safety. The dealer stated if the contact felt so strongly that the headrest was such a problem to simply turn the headrest around. The contact however was concerned that his neck could be seriously injured due to the air bags in the event of a crash. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 10. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving approximately 65 mph on a highway in an active construction zone, the accelerator pedal automatically dropped to the floorboard. The contact depressed the brake pedal to the floorboard, but the vehicle did not decelerate. The contact stated that he lost complete control of the vehicle and turned into a ditch to avoid a crash. The air bags did not deploy. While in the ditch, the vehicle was placed into neutral and the engine was shut off; however, the rear wheels kept spinning for thirty seconds. The contact had to apply full pressure to the accelerator pedal before it would disengage. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and could not assist. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 107,365

While driving at approximately 30 mph a rear wheel locked up causing the truck to turn to one side. Travelling a little further it happened again. I turned the truck around and headed back to my house. Two or three times again a rear wheel locked up causing a lack of control. If i was at highway speed, the vehicle would have caused an accident as the condition would cause the truck to go sideways.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While the vehicle was in reverse, it revved up. The brake pedal was depressed and extended to the floorboard. As a result, the contact crashed into an enclosed trailer on july 5, 2017. The failure recurred on november 24, 2017 and the vehicle crashed into a wall. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The air bags did not deploy and the vehicle was not towed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 133,000.

Two separate times driving in motion while pressing down the accelerator, the car jumps to 6000+ rpm and would not slow down or respond to brakes. The only way to stop was to force truck into neutral and turn off engine coasting to a stop.

At approximately 86000 miles my abs and brake warning light illuminated.i took it to my certified mechanic who ran a diagnostic which revealed a failed abs module.replacement cost is over $800.00 and with over 233 complaints that we know of, when is your organization going to make ford accountable?

Abs & tcs warning lights came on, when diagnosed it reads a code b1342 faulty abs control module. I have tried desperately to find a replacement all the dealers seem to have them on back order whit no ship date known.none of the parts houses sell this particular module it is a 1 year part only i called several wrecking yards all over the country and was told this seems to be a common problem.i finallylocated one but it wasn't easy.how many other 2009 f150 trucks are or will be on the road with faulty brakes and are unable to repair them.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving approximately 70 mph, the brakes seized and the brake warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer kept the vehicle for nine days. The dealer diagnosed and replaced the abs module, but the failure recurred. Additionally, the brake pedal was stiff and extremely hard to depress. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

'09 f150 fx4 w/ 40,900mi.after driving home and getting to my driveway, i had to drag my right front tire into the parking spot - it was totally locked and extremely hot/smoking.upon investigating, i could not get the brake caliper pistons to retract unless i cracked the bleeder open.last night i replaced everything brake related on the wheel including the rubber flex line.upon investigation, the caliper was fine.what the problem was/is that the bracket that holds the rubber flex brake line was over crimped and partially restricting the brake fluid.secondly, corrosion/rust had built up between the outside of the rubber brake line and the inside of the bracket.as the rust continued to build, it compressed the brake line until it was completely pinched.by estimate, i'd say the right one was 100% restricted, and the left was 90% restricted.upon speaking with a neighbor with an '08 f150, he had a very similar occurrence where the tire was rolled off the rim when the tire locked.he had have it towed for repairs.my concern is this is a florida truck with limited exposure to the midwest.the restricted brake line over time had to have significantly reduced my braking capacity of the front wheels.obviously, at the end, if i was on the highway and the brake had locked at speed, significant controllability issues would have resulted.in the pictures, you can see the rust on the vice that came out when we pried the bracket open and slide the line out.the other picture has where the pad burned into the rotor due to excess heat after i was finally able to retract the caliper and free the rotor.

While entering interstate i-10, early morning traffic. Traffic moving at 20 - 25 mph.engine made a series of revving noises.tried to apply breaks to merge over.break peddle would not activate. Stuck in up position.i applied both feet and pressed full pressure.would not go down. Would not stop.rolled into the back of the vehicle in front of me.fortunately i was only moving about 20 mph and no one was hurt.i would not drive the truck and had it towed.dealer not able to determine issue.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that the brakes felt abnormal. When the brake pedal was depressed, it almost traveled to the floor. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure could not be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.consumer no longer own this vehicle.updated 05/03/16*ljthe consumer stated he no longer owns this vehicle.

While in motion, light came on brake fluid low. I took it to a mechanic, and we looked, but didn't immediately see any puddle, or sign of rapid loss of fluid, filled master cylinder back up, and drove 15 miles home. On the way, i noticed the pedal was spongy, when i got home, i looked, and had lost 1/4 of the fluid in the master cylinder.i got in the truck, pressed the brake pedal, felt it going down, got out, and saw it was leaking rapidly from a junction of the brake hose going from the master cylinder to the (abs box?) where it goes from rubber to metal. I got a new one from the dealer today dublin ford, dublin ga. [$33.00] and noticed that is has been much improved over the original. This tells me that ford knew it had a problem, which should have been a recall item, and didn't recall for it. It also tells me that there are probably a bunch of f150's out there that are at risk of brake failure due to the failure of a $33 part.

I turned my truck on after it sat overnight and the abs and emergency brake lights were illuminated on the dash cluster. Took the truck into a local part storeand had a obd2 reader hooked up and it pulled abs control module code. I took into a auto shop and they were pull the code and decipher what the actual problem was. The abs control module completely stopped working.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to respond. The contact had to exert excessive force on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The contact also stated that the revolutions per minute increased to high and the brake light was illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 98,000.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving at an unknown speed, the abs module light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs module was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.

Sudden complete break failure.without any previous breaking problem or indication of breaking system problem the breaking system completely failed under normal driving conditions while the vehicle was decelerating with no pressure on the gas pedal.i was a few hundred yards from a red light and attempted to apply gentle brake pressure, the break pedal gave no resistance, easily pushed to the floor with no breaking capacity whatsoever.the break trouble light came on at the same instant failure occurred.releasing and reapplying the breaks had no effect, only due to my early response to the red light allowed me enough time and distance to use the column shifter to downshift, thus decelerating with the engine until reaching 1st gear.at which point i was able to use the parking break to fully stop the vehicle.

While traveling to work brakes went all the way down to the floor and then my abs & brake check system lightcame on has not turned off.truck isnot safe to drive

Abs module defective in the truck, power steering going out. Rpm modole not working.

Recently, while driving down the highway, both the abs light and brake light came illuminated on the instrument panel of my truck. The message center displayed a reading of check brake system. The brakes began to have a pulsation to them and the truck just did not want to come to a complete stop. I took my truck to a mechanical shop where they charged me to diagnose the problem causing these symptoms. Their findings with the diagnostic checks revealed a failed abs module. No repairs have been made. The truck has been parked in our driveway.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving and depressing the brake pedal, a pulsation occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who test drove the vehicle and diagnosed that the front and rear brake rotors and pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The contact also stated that the same failure occurred a few years ago and the vehicle was towed to kendall ford of kenai (10288 kenai spur hwy, kenai, ak 99611, (866) 387-7984). The dealer test drove the vehicle and diagnosed that the brake system seized and the vehicle had to be towed back to the dealer. The brake rotors, pads, and calipers were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty and there was no recall. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

When i went to apply brakes, pedal felt awkward and hard, as if no power assist. I was caught by surprise and had to slam on brakes with excessive force. I hit a wall at slow speed and damaged my front bumper. This issue has happened several times of no power assist in mornings when first started. Ford has been unable to replicate it. I am taking to ford today after having a collision. I am scared to drive it.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brakes stopped working. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technicians stated they could not diagnose the failure. The contact took the vehicle in for a second opinion at another dealer and was given the same response. The contact stated when there was snow or ice on the roads the vehicle made a load grinding noise and the vehicle became difficult to stop. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.

While driving the truck, depressed brake pedal to slow down.brake pedal went completely to the floor causing the truck to run into the curb.the pedal became firmer again but later the pedal went to the floor again.

Deep grooves in front brake rotors after only 2800 miles . Ford replaced left calip turned rotors ; didn't replace pads. After 5800 mi rotors again had deep grooves in rotors. Ford has had truck for 5 days; unable to get rotors is the excuse. I don't know what is happening. I hope they replace both rotors ,pad and the right calip. Rotor s may need to be the ventilated type.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150.the contact recently purchased a brand new vehicle.he stated that the braking system was failing.the brake pedal must be depressed with great force in order to stop the vehicle.the dealer stated that there were no failures with the vehicle.the contact stated that this was a dangerous defect that could result in a rear end crash.the failure and current mileages were 202.updated 09/01/09

The brake system performs poorly.the brake pedal has a soft feel to it unless i pump the pedal 2 or 3 times.it acts like there is air in the system.the dealer states this feel is normal and took no action.also, the brakes have on 2 occasions barely worked, i have needed to use both feet full force to get the truck to stop.i took the truck to the dealer today and they state they can find nothing wrong. I have no confidence in the brake system of this vehicle.

The steering wheel attachment bolt worked its way loose and the wheel fell off while driving down the road when i adjusted the steering wheel l. It popped off its setting and fell on my lap. Making steering impossible until i was able to align the wheel and shovebit back in place until i could get vehicle stopped. The only thing that saved an serious accident was the good alignment of my tires and luckily i got the wheel lined up and on within a second.

While negotiating a right turn on a busy intersection, i heard a couple of popping sound from the engine compartment. After that, i lost power steering on right turn and almost ran head on in an oncoming vehicle from the opposite direction. I have to slow down to a crawl because i have to hang on to the steering wheel to negotiate the turn. The other driver has to stop to let me get back to my lane. Everytime i negotiate a curve on hwy 160 from pagosa springs to colorado springs, i have to slow down to about 45 mph to negotiate the curve.it felt like i'm working against hydraulic pressure everytime i steer to the right.left steer is a bit hard but not as hard and almost impossible to steer to the right. The was informed by the dealer that the power steering gear box was defective.this incident of loosing steering on a busy city street could have resulted in a serious accident.

The truck was aligned and the tires have the same and proper air pressure. The truck would violently shake every time it hit any kind of small bump. It happened every couple of miles. The shaking was so bad, it felt as though, the tires had blown out.the only thing, the consumer could do was stop.

Having problems with ignition. When you turn ignition switch, the car doesn't start. Already have changed a part in steering column related to the ignition.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. While driving approximately 20 mph, the steering wheel became extremely sluggish and difficult to turn. The contact was able to reach his destination and noticed that the lower power steering hose was leaking fluid. The manufacturer and dealer were notified, they both informed the contact that the part was on a national back order. The manufacturer was uncertain when the part would become available. The contact had been waiting on the part since march of 2012. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

Took my vehicle for in for annual safety inspection.failed due to leaking lower power steering hose.unable to obtain replacement from ford due to backorder - apparently this is a very common failure for this part in these vehicles.ford stated that they won't have any available until 22 oct so i'm driving around with a failed vehicle safety sticker until then.amazed that this occurred on a vehicle that's only 3 years old, and subjected to light duty the entire time.vehicle no longer under warranty so will cost me $600 to replace (new hose is $200 alone!).this is my 5th and last ford.

Power steering hose is leaking fluid.multiple dealers have stated that the part is on back order and fulfillment of a replacement order will take anywhere from several weeks to almost a year based on previous experiences they've had.they also stated that ford ordered dealers to stop selling any hoses they currently have in inventory.dealers have all stated that i should keep an eye on fluid level, keep driving it, and hope it doesn't get worse or fail completely.

Truck steering "went out" and the power steering worked on and off.found out is was lower steering shaft, i had just replaced a power steering hose, the problem was not solved.anyway the new lower steering shaft did solve the problem (cost of over $320.00 to me) but really at less than 70,000 miles, and a very conservative one man driver a family truck not business truck, not rough!the truck is parked outside and i did notice recalls further north due to cold and rough winters.i live in se michigan and perhaps that recall should head south a bit.total spending was over 650.00 dollars for both jobs.an f150 with big steering problems and big cost with less then 70,000, not anyone's idea of "built tough".i have been behind the wheel of many vehicles and traveled well over a million miles in over 50 years of driving and i never had to replace these parts.there is a concern here as when steering goes so does control of truck!junk oem parts ?????recall needed??i think so................

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150.the contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the power steering failed and the steering wheel seized. Steering shaft after only 48,000 miles of on road driving was worn out to the extent that it was difficult to keep the vehicle in one lane and to negotiate turns with any degree oc confidence . A search of ford forums indicate numerous accounts of this same type of issue as well as binding in the steering column likely due to failure of this same part.

High pressure power steering hose leak.

Was informed by dealer at 36,000 inspection and oil change that power steering pressure hose had a leak and needed to be replaced. Vehicle 3 yrs old, lightly driven.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. Whenever the vehicle was driven over 70 mph the entire vehicle began vibrating. The dealertest drove the vehicle and were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer has not been notified. The failure mileage was 3,280.

Power steering hydraulic hose leaking, causing power steering pump to whine & cavitate,& will eventually ruin the power steering pump, dealer says the hose is on national back order, 3700 customers are waiting for this part.drive at your own risk, when the pump fails you go to manual steering instantly and could lose control of the vehicle.

Sudden loss of power steering while backing. Could be very dangerouse in a parking lot or area where other vehicles or people are present.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that he was changing the oil and noticed that the power steering line was leaking. The contact stated that he took the vehicle to a mechanic for an inspection and they informed him that they could not obtain the necessary part because it was on back order. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was again informed that the part was on back order. The manufacturer was notified and they informed the contact that there were known issues for this failure, but the part was not available. The failure mileage was 80,000.

During an inspection the power steering hose was found to be leaking.advised by service agent to take to dealer as a warranty issue. Took it to the dealer, they said new power steering hose is required and sent on my way after being told hose is ordered.more than a week later i find out, after searching online that people have been waiting 10 weeks for the same replacement part from ford, the only supplier of this particular hose!i contacted ford becausethe dealership does not respond to phone calls and was told that the dealer says that it is safe to drive. Well i feel that any leaking power steering hose is a safety issue.the response from ford was to purchase a large container of power steering fluid and continually top up the fluid.they said this advice was from the dealer.this issue needs to be reported simply because the more you drive the higher the risk of a catastrophic failure of the steering and the risk of death or injury to the driver and occupants.it also needs to be highlighted the blase attitude of ford and their dealers to this matter.it was certainly of big enough concern initially for the dealership to try and find a rental vehicle that they would pay for in lieu of loss of transport as was concerned that the vehicle was not safe to drive for long distances.

I am the proud owner of a 2009 ford f150 with just over 42k miles.the steering has increasingly become more-and-more difficult over the past several months.my truck has been for the most part- pampered. I do pull a small utility trailer and the truck is not a daily driver. I first noticed the issue last march (2016) after sitting for 6-weeks and the steering difficulty has become more pronounced.the power-steering fluid is at the proper level, there are no leaks and tire pressure is normal. Yet the truck steer's and handles as though i have low/no air in the front tires and/or the power steering pump is failing.i plan on taking the truck into the service department at my local dealership for a complete diagnostic check. My overall concern is to communicate the importance that steering and handling is vital to the "safe-operation" of a motor vehicle especially a truck. I previously owned a 1999 f150 and even with over 100k miles, steering was never an issue.in fact, i have owned and operated many vehicles with over 100k miles both in the military and in civilian use and have never experienced "steering" issues of this nature. I am therefore concerned as to the nature of this specific failure on a vehicle that has not seen heavy duty use or been driven excessively.respectfully yours,made-in-america - please don't fail me.

The contac owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving at any speed, the steering wheel became difficult to steer. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rack and pinion malfunctioned. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that the high pressure hose for the power steering had a bad fitting on his vehicle. The dealer was notified and stated that the part was on back order. The vehicle had not yet experienced a failure, but the contact was very concerned about the safety of the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 85,000. The vin was not available.

Cool morning truck was fine day before, but this am steering was "hard" like truck lost it's "power" in power steering.the power steering level was about 1/4 inch below min so i filled to proper level. ( i just had it at dealer and fluid was checked "ok" two months prior).a few days later level had gone down a bit so i added more staying between min and max lines.next couple weeks power steering would fade in and out (at all speeds) and worked whenever it wanted to.intermittent hard to turn and at times worked fine.took to dealer on 4 30 14 (this day steering was working fine) and was told it was a leaking power steering pressure hose operation 3719-ar&r 4.6l 2009.cost out of pocket about 390.44.i am the only driver of this truck and i drive like an old man cause i am an older man, lots of tlc.so why in the heck would this fail so early at less then 70,000 miles?recall needed??

On or about march 23, 2015 steering became stiff. Stiffness increased to the point on april 1, 2015 that it started to bind upon making right hand turns. Dealer replaced lower steering shaft on april 3, 2015 and the steering has returned to normal. I have owned 17 different vehicles in my lifetime and i have never had a problem with binding steering. If the steering had bound up completely i could have had a serious accident. Ford motor should initiate a recall for this defect.

Abs module defective in the truck, power steering going out. Rpm modole not working.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While reversing out of the driveway and turning to the left, the steering wheel seized. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to north brothers ford, inc. (33300 ford rd, westland, mi 48185, (734) 421-1300) where it was diagnosed that the steering wheel seized and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,790.

Power steering hose leaking fluid.mechanic tried ordering replacement and was told by ford there is a national back-order of 4500 units.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. The contact stated that the rear bumper was crashed into twice at low speeds and totally detached from the vehicle structure. The contact believed that the bumper was manufacturer of defective material.the vehicle has not been repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 22,000.

While on vacation i was driving during a rain storm and my passenger noticed water coming from the plastic handle inside the cab.after further investigation i found water stains on the headliner on the front passenger side and in the rear of the cab at both corners.my bumper to bumper expired last month, i have been in contact with ford and regardless of how long it has been leaking i was told that i have to pay for repairs.there are numerous complaints on the internet about the same problem.my major issue is the fact that the mold and mildew is a major health issue and now i have to wonder if mold spores is the cause of the respiratory problems i have been having.ford needs to step up and correct this problem!!!

Water leak at the passenger windshield post handle. Possibly from the satellite radio antenna on the roof.

When opening the left rear door from inside while it is stationary, the handle does not return to the stowed position after opening the door unless it is pushed manually. The vehicle was brought to the dealer to investigate this issue in addition to another unrelated issue. The dealer was notified that this issue seems to be exactly what was mentioned in a recall i found involving this model/year vehicle (recall number 11v04900, recall date 02/01/2011). The dealer stated that this vehicle did not have any open recalls, but would inspect the it anyway. The dealer did verify the condition and provided an estimate to repair it. The estimate to replace the defective/damaged components was higher than the i was willing to pay, so the repair was declined.

Sudden accelerationafter coming to a complete stop at a traffic light, truck kept accelerating on its own, hitting the car in front of me, i while applying the brakes i had to put it on parking for the truck to come to a complete stop.

The rear passenger door (sometimes called the "suicide" door) on the ford f150 extended cab truck refused to open. Upon researching the problem it was found to be an ongoing ford problem since the 1990's. The child seats in the back would have been inaccessible in the case of an emergency. From the research it appears there have been many of these trucks affected. Thank you

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that after disengaging the child lock, the rear passenger's side door failed to open from the interior and exterior of the vehicle.the manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 41,000.

This started about spring of 2011.my truck had about 26,000 miles on it.i was driving in the rain when i heard a trickle of water in the back seat.i looked back and saw nothing.later when i got to work i checked to see if i could find out what the trickle noise was.it turned out that the roof was leaking.in the back two corners of the cab water was coming in.apparently, a hard rain causes the water to pool on the roof. The rubber gasket on the roof has apparently become brittle and is letting water in.i looked online for similar complaints and saw others, including leaks from the satellite antenna and the center brake light.please help.my truck gets wet every time it rains and the wet, musty odor that follows is disgusting.i have also heard that ford considers this a cosmetic issue much like door dings and scratches.not fair!!!

Ford f150 paint is starting to peel on rear tail gate, sides and under rear window. Looks like there is no primer. We have seen other f150s with same paint issues in the same areas. Is this a new problem with ford f150s? haven't taken it to dealership yet. Date is approximate.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that there was severe corrosion on the exterior of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the rocker panel needed to be replaced. No repairs were made to the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000. The vin was unavailable.

Accelerator pedal sensor sticks under acceleration.very dangerous.it's happen 5 times to me. 21,196 miles on the truck.i hope this truck doesn't kill no one some day.i have copyed this page for my records and sending copies to the peopleslawmakers state and fed. Thank you for your time. Have a great day.

In april 2014 i noticed a vast amount of water collecting on the driver's side front floor.there was a leak coming from the sunroof down the headliner and through the post to the floor.i inspected the sunroof and found the drip pan to be wet.i poured a little water through the drain hose and it did not go through.i brought it to ford for repair and was told that the drain hose was kinked and was like that from the factory.they cut the drain hose to the correct length and adjusted the sunroof.they advised me that the vehicles extended warranty did not cover it.i paid out of pocket $210.fast forward to december 10, 2014, when i noticed water coming from the passenger side front assist handle.i went to ford for service and mentioned this to the service tech and was told that everyone who has a sunroof was experiencing this due to the heavy rain.this morning december 17th, i noticed water in the same area coming from the handle.i checked the sunroof and did not find the pan to be wet.i called ford and advised them, and they told me to bring it in december 22nd for another water test.they also advised me that this would not be covered under warranty, so i will again have to pay out of pocket.this truck has 19,000 miles on it and it can't be driven in rain.the sad part is that ford knows about these problems and does nothing to fix them.

Th contact stated that upon inspection, it was advised that the motor was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 70,000.

Exterior door handle must be pulled several times before door opens. Delays entry into vehicle, both sides affected. No difference noticed with vehicle running or prior to starting. This has been happening for a long time.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact noticed rust on the bottom corners of the rear driver and passenger crew cab doors. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that a drain tube came from the sun roof and had no way for the water to get out. As a result, there was rust around the lower front strip of the driver and passenger doors, and the bottom two corners of the rear driver and passenger doors needed to be cut out and the metal re-welded. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer (kip killmon ford, 201 e main st, louisa, va 23093 (540) 967-1350) was contacted and provided the contact nhtsa's phone number. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and stated that there was no remedy for a vehicle of that year. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

While trying to exit the vehicle after parking, the front driver door would not unlock or open. The lock knob and inside handle would not move. The outside handle would not open the door either. The driver had to climb over the center console to exit the vehicle through the passenger door. The vehicle was brought to the dealer where they determined that the door latch was seized. After replacing the door latch assembly, the interior door handle and a cable, the door now functions properly.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that the driver side interior door handle failed to work and prevented the door from closing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the door handle fractured and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

We are the owners of a 2009 ford f-150. A couple of years ago we received a letter in the mail stating there was a recall on the door and that we needed to take it in for repairs. We followed procedure and took our truck in to the dealership & the recall issue was fixed (or so we thought) and we never gave it a second thought.well, fast forward to a little over 1 month ago ( approximately 3 years after the 'recall' issue was fixed ), our truck was rear ended by another vehicle. Not a major accident, but a fender bender. When the other vehicle hit our truck, the side passenger door opened/ unlatched.the original recall stated it would/ could unlatch during a side impact, but the recall should have fixed that. In our minds that problem was fixed & we had peace of mind. Well our truck did not receive a side impact, but a rear end impact, and the door issue apparently was not fixed at all. The passenger door opened/ unlatched and mind you, this was a fairly minor accident. Only property damage, no bodily injuries. I am now scared for our safety as i don't feel my family is safe in our truck should another accident occur, especially a bigger impact accident, & having the door unlatch like that instead of properly protecting those inside.i'd love to know what can be done to fix this issue? my family's safety is at stake here.

I was driving and my driver side door popped open then would not close took to a ford dealership and explained to service department what happen he looked at stayed it was the latch broken i see there was a recall on this year of door handles so i brought that up to service man he said it had nothing to do with recall were it explained in recall door handle or any housing in the door handle fails it will be replaced free of charge they did not honor this i paid 450.00 to replace the whole handle i feel this is a safety problem and what if it was the kids back door instead of driver side door that popped open then my kid would have fell out the door i want ford to take care and make sure all other doors are good and reimburse me for the bill i already paid that ford dealership charged me 450.00 this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed even if the spring was replaced maybe it was or wasn't or not done correctly.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. While driving between 40 to 50 mph the vehicle began to vibrate excessively. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure during a test drive; however, they stated that the failure could be related to the frame assembly. The zone manager and the field engineer from ford also test drove the vehicle and were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the vibration occurred after purchasing the vehicle at 300 miles. The failure mileage was 300 and the current mileage was 8,600.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While the contact was examining the vehicle she noticed that the rear passenger side tire extended 1.5 inches outside the normal placement for the tire. The dealer informed the contact that the frame was bent. The vehicle has not been serviced for the failure and there was no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 3,000. Updated 10/13/09. *ljupdated 10/14/09.

Vehicle vibrates at highway speed seems to come from right rear. Have taken it to three dealers they could not fix problem. Dealer stated all 2009 f-150s do the same. Replaced tires but still has same problem.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle violently shook on several occasions. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.updated 8/22/13 the track bar was replaced with oem parts. All of the ball joints and shocks were replaced. The tires were replaced, including balancing. The truck was aligned and the tires have the same and proper air pressure. The truck would violently shake every time it hit any kind of small bump. It happened every couple of miles. The shaking was so bad, it felt as though, the tires had blown out.the only thing, the consumer could do was stop.

Both front springs are broke. Front end to low to the groung and hits when not on paved roads.only 35000 miles and mostly in town driving

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150.while driving approximately 30 mph he slightly turned the steering wheel and the vehicle began to drastically veer towards the direction in which he slightly turned the wheel. The failure continued to recur; therefore, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer 5 times where he had the front end aligned. Since the failure continued to recur, the tire manufacturer stated that the tires on the vehicle were passenger vehicle tires instead of truck tires.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 36,000.

On 5/2/12 i went to my local ford dealer in manahawkin, nj to advise of cracking tires. These tires had only 19000 miles and were original equipment on my 2009 ford f150. They advised me to contact pirelli tire company. On 5/4/12 i contacted pirelli tire company via email and explained the problem. They advised me to go to a local pirelli dealer to have them inspected. On 5/8/12 i went to sbr tire exchange in manahawkin, nj to have them inspected. They confirmed the cracking problem and that the tires had 8/32 of tread left and the tires come with 12/32 new. They then contacted pirelli. Pirelli offered 60% toward a new set of pirelli tires. At first this sounded reasonable until i was advised that the tires would be sold at list price of $399.95 each before the discount. This came to 791.50 after the 60% discount with mounting and tax added. This is outrageous knowing the tires can be purchased for a similar price without the discount and same size comparable bf goodrich tires for less. Pirelli has clearly not stood behind a defective product that apparently has a common defect in that model tire. They are forcing me to purchase new tires after only 1/3 wear, years before they are needed because i am in fear for my safety and the safety of others.## vin passed ## ford f150 2009 ##.

The tire air pressure sensor fault light illuminates.have had to dealership several times.was told sensors were bad. Dealer has replace sensors several times.issue continues to occur.

I have an 09 f150.my problem is with the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms).it keeps indicating a tire pressure sensor fault.i took it to one ford dealer and they replaced 3 of the wheel sensors.i went on a 1600 mile trip after that and i continued to get tire pressure sensor fault.the problem is intermittent.i took it to another ford dealer and they said that the previous ford dealer had installed them incorrectly.this was not the case.after consulting with the original dealer we determined that they installed correctly.i was told that ford now says that certain electronic devices like cell phones and gps's may interfere with the system.my truck has had the problem with no gps or cell in the cab.after doing some research on ford's tpms system i found that this has been a problem since ford started using it.on all models whether car or truck people are having the same "tire pressure sensor fault" error show up.i feel ford should recall there all vehicles equipped with this system and have them replaced with a system that is reliable.the manual says that while the system is in error mode that the system may or may not work.i think this is a huge safety issue because while i do not rely solely on the system to monitor tire pressure i'm sure there are a lot of people who do and others who could have a tire going down and may not know it until its to late.my mother in laws 05 explorer has the same system with the same error message. Ford needs to do something before someone gets hurt.

In 2017 we had the transmission rebuilt do to loss off poweron 12/23/17 while driving there was a loss of power then thunkwheels would barely more.city street making a right hand turn so now it's sit in the garage not moving to get it fix almost 1500.00 that i don't have

As i was backing the truck into the garage, with my foot on the brake because my driveway has an decline, the truck took off. In other words unintended accerlation. The engine rpms went very high and the truck went very fast in reverse hitting my garage wall and my father who unfortunately was in the way. Once the truck took off i desperately tried pushing on the brakes and slamming the truck into park but the truck didn't stop until it hit the garage wall. My father suffered a broken leg but was inches away from being killed. The tire tracks on the garage floor showed drag marks as if the front wheels had locked up as the back wheels sped up. This was a horrifying experience and needs to be looked into why ford vehicles are doing this. There is no way my foot was on the acceleration, although this is what the manufacture is going to claim.

Takata recall......i have a 2009 f-150 and all 3 of the 4 door handles open sometimes when you try open the door the 1st time 1 of the door handles you can only open the door from the outside the driver door has a burn mark around the lach of the door that was never there.......i called to see if there was a recall on that year of my truck and i was told no.....how can that be? do i have to wait until something happens that my family can't get out?

The throttle stuck on the truck and caused me to have an accident

I own a 2009 ford f150 xlt 4 door. Since engaging the child safety feature to the lock position, i have not been able to open either door from the inside or the outside. I have since switched back the unlock position and both rear doors will not open. Passengers can not exit the vehicle in an emergency situation and is a safety hazard.

Traveling at 65 mph with cruise control engaged as another vehicle merged on to the freeway i floored the accelerator to avoid a collision, the accelerator stuck at a very high rate of speed (85 to 90mph),tapping the brakes had no effect, disengaging the cruise had no effect, turned the ignition off in neutral for aprox 4 seconds had no effect, cruise finally disengaged after shutting the vehicle off in neutral for aprox 10 seconds.

While driving 65 mph the truck accelerated to 95. I turned off the cruise control, thinking it could be stuck, even though i was not using it at the time, braked as hard as i could and got the truck to slow down and got off the interstate to a side road and finally got it stopped. I turned it off and restarted the truck. It immediately ran up to 5k rmp. I shut it back down and called a friends who is a mechanic. He told me to disconnect the negative side of the battery and let it sit a few minutes. Did this and it restarted and i got it home. Hadit towed to the ford dealer since it is still under warranty.the ford dealer's service department cannot duplicate the problem; states that 4 people have driven it; they let it run for two hours and all diagnostics tests indicate all is well. Evidently there is an issue somewhere. I just pray i don't kill somebody or myself next time.

While accelerating onto highway, the throttle stuck and kept accelerating the vehicle even after my foot was removed from gas pedal. I had to shift into neutral and the engine stayed at 4000rpm without pressing on the gas pedal.i brought the truck to a stop on the shoulder and shut it off.it worked fine on the way home.this vehicle is going to ford in the morning!

Accelerator pedal sticks, there is no rhyme or reason for this problem. This has happened on a few different occasions at different driving speeds. Last time this happened my two children were in the truck as the truck accelerated toward stopped traffic. Thankfully the accelerator let loose before we crashed into other vehicles.

While merging onto the interstate i accelerated to 65-70 mph. Once on the interstate i let off of the accelerator but the truck continuted acceleration up to 90mph while holding at 4000 rpms. Brakes were applied to help control the vehicle speed while i shifted to neutral and pulled into the emergncy lane. Once stopped and in park vehicle continued to hold 4000 rpms. I shut the vehicle off then restarted and the rpms jumped to 4000 immediately. I shut off again left off for 15 minutes, pressed the accelerator a few times to make sure it wasn't sticking to anything (it was not) and restarted. At this time the vehicle appeared to work normally, drove on home. Took the truck to the dealer the following monday, left it for them on tuesday. They said there were no codes and could not replicate the issue and therefore nothing they could do. This is the ninth problem i have had to take the truck in to have fixed under the warranty.

While pulling away from a drive through window, i took my foot off the accelerator to put on the brake as i neared the stop sign at the intersection to enter main road.as this happened the truck accelerated suddenly and darted the truck and passengers into 2 lanes of traffic where they were hit by a van which in turn swung them into the opposite 2 lanes of traffic (so truck went through 4 lanes of traffic).truck's airbags deployed on driver and passenger side (with driver seat bags too) and no injuries occurred.truck is being fixed and will be taken to local ford dealership afterward for evaluation.*ln

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The contact stated that while at a stop, the engine rpms increased excessively and the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a diagnosis was recommended. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000 and the current mileage was 14,600. ...updated 05/08/13 the consumer stated the dealer advised the failure was due to the gas and brake pedal being too close together. This caused the driver to step on both at the same time. Updated 06/10/2013

I was accelerating up a small hill.i reached 30mph and stopped accelerating.the truck continued to accelerate slowly at around 2000rpms after i took my foot off the pedal.i shifted the truck into neutral and the rpms slowly increased as it was no longer under load.i tapped the accelerator and they surged up to 4000 where they were capped by the computer.i used my brakes to come to a stop in the middle of the street and turned the truck off.i waited a few seconds and started it back up.the tachometer showed 1000rpms and then down to 700-800rpms.i continued home.this has happened 5 other times with this vehicle.i am still troubleshooting the problem, but it is not caused by floormats and i have ruled out the cruise control being part of the issue.the last time it happened, i engaged/disengaged the cruise control while the truck was accelerating on the interstate with no change in behavior.it appears to be mechanical to the throttle body or a computer malfunction somehow.it is a difficult problem to replicate and does not happen every trip.i am going to inspect/clean the throttle body and clean the mass air intake sensor.i haven't ever had a vehicle act this way and think there is a major problem if you have to turn a vehicle off to reset it.losing power-steering/brakes is the problem with doing this while the vehicle is under way.

The contact stated that the floor mat was defective. The accelerator pedal stuck to the floor mat while driving at 45 mph. As a result, the vehicle accelerated out of control. The contact was able to avoid a crash and maneuvered the vehicle to the shoulder. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the floor mat was not replaced. The failure and current mileages were 48,000.

Driving a 2009 ford f-150 i was just past the grain valley exit eastbound i-70 heading back to columbia. I was in the left hand lane and pressed the accelerator to get past a car in the right hand lane. When i took my foot off the gas, the rpms went way up, as if it were floored, and the truck tried to accelerate. While there was a car in front of me, luckily there wasn't one to my right. I stood on the brakes and swerved to the right. Standing on the brakes i was able to keep the speed between 60-70 mph, i threw on the emergency lights and pulled onto the shoulder. After maybe a hundred yards and throwing on the e-brake and hitting the brakes i was able to slowly bring the speed down at which point i turned the truck off. After waiting a while on the shoulder i turned the truck back on and everything seemed normal, i put the truck into drive and began to slowly press on the accelerator to get back on the highway. It was then that the rpm's again kicked way up and the truck began to try and take off. Luckily i wasn't going very fast and rode the brakes and turned the truck off. I then called a tow truck.there were no injuries. The extent of damage to the truck is unknown as it has not been taken to the dealer yet to get fixed.

While driving our new 2009 f150 truck with only 3,200 miles on it, i stopped at a stop light. The truck began to idle very fast and was lurching forward, when i took foot off brake the truck accelerated very fast to 80 - 90 mph. I could hardly slow the vehicle down by applying brakes as hard as possible. I was on a freeway and continued to put it into neutral which only slowed it down for a moment .cruise control was not on and there are no floor mats in the truck.i continued down the freeway for approx. 3 miles when i decided i had to exit freeway because i was gaining speed. I put it into neutral again to exit on a off ramp doing about 40 mph. The brakes were not doing anything to slow truck down at this point. I was headed for a very busy intersection and did not want to broadside another vehicle soi then decided to crash into a row of dumpsters at the end of a strip mall. As soon as i entered the mall parking lot i through it into park which locked the steering and i stopped just few feet in front of dumpsters. We had the truck towed to nearby ford dealership. The dealer said that they can not replicate the problem and found nothing wrong with the truck. They want us to pick up truck and we refuse to drive the truck home.

I was making a left turn and my gas pedal got stuck / accelerated and i stepped on the brakes numerous times and i couldn't stop the vehicle. Very dangerous and freaked me out. I couldn't stop the truck and accelerated to over 50 miles per hour until it finally slowed down on its own after collision. I suffered damage to my front end and my rim/ tires. I hit a pole to avoid hitting another vehicle. I hope a recall is called. I am just happy no one was seriously injured.

Traveling at 65 mph on the express way, i took my foot off the accelerator and the truck took off, accelerating as if it was being floored!. I hit the brake pedal but the engine still continued to rev itself and accelerate. I thought it might be a stuck floor mat but nothing was in the way. I hit the brake pedal again and popped the gear shifter into neutral. This stopped the engine from revving itself and accelerating. I took the vehicle into the dealership, and they claim to have never heard of anything like this and can't find anything wrong with the vehicle! thank god i did not smash into the vehicle that was in front of me.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. The vehicle was stopped with the contact's foot on the brake pedal, when the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into two other vehicles.

While driving my 2009 ford truck i left a stop sign rapidly and pressed the accelerator down firmly, it stuck to the floor.i depressed the brake as hard as i could hoping the pedal would come off the floor.then i tried to shift the truck in neutral but the motor raced.a car was coming up behind me so i put in drive turned hard off the road with the wheels spinning and shut the key off in gear.i drove the truck home and parked it.i latter discovered that the accelerator was catching on the rubber floor mat that came with the vehicle.i lowered the power pedals to decrease the distance between the pedals but when i reenacted the event for a coworker the pedal stuck to the floor again.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph. When pressure was applied to the accelerator pedal there was no power response. The gear was shifted into neutral causing the engine to revv high. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road and turned the engine off. The vehicle restarted to normal operation. The failure occurred on five separate occasions while traveling at any speed. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 5,100. While in motion making a three point turn to turn around, the engine speed (rpm) increased causing truck to accelerate forward.service brakes did not stop the truck.i put the truck transmission into neutral while depressing the service brake pedal, the truck stopped and i shutoff the engine and restarted. This issue has happened at least 6 times.

After coming to a complete stop, i accelerated rapidly and let off the gas pedal once i reached the posted speed limit...the truck continued to accelerate on its own !! i had to stomp on the brakes to slow the truck down, threw it in neutral and rolled to a scary stop. The truck continued to rev to 4000 rpm's while in neutral. My wife jumped out of truck while we were at a red light. Luckily no one was in front of truck. While truck was revving in neutral on its own, i tried stomping on gas pedal several times to try to stop it from revving to no avail. I finally turned the truck off and restarted it a few minutes later, the truck idled normal. I immediately began to try to duplicate the problem to no availthe floor mat did not interfere with the pedal.i do have a video of the incident on my phone.

Pulling up to my destination, the accelerator suddenly causing the vehicle to rapidly speed-up and become difficult to control

2009 ford f-150 pickup truck 4.6 l efiv8 engineaccelorator sticks when brake applied.has done this 6 times so far (once in reverse) and the truck only has 1480 miles. It does not matter if the engine is cold or warm. The truck continues to surge ahead even as i apply extreme brake pressure.i have taken this truck into the dealer where i purchased the truck. I left it with them several days. They say they cannot fix the problem unless they can replicate it.they returned the truck to me.the problem happened again, twice, today (6 february 2010)

Just got onthe expressway from the on ramp and had speed up faster due to on-coming traffic not slowing.i stepped on the gas pedal and accelerated.took my foot off the gas but kept going faster.i used both feet on the brake to slow down but the engine kept accelerating.i took right foot and stomped the gas pedal and released it.that got the pedal unstuck and i returned to a safer speed.i travel the same way to work and this has happened 4 times so far.the last two of which i am sure that it was not the floor mat.

We drove a rental 2009 ford f 150 from enterprise rental in boise, id (12-28-09 to 12-31-09)for a couple of days.on the 4th day, we had the accelerator stick several times.it would not stop at intersections, and we thought it was just icy roads (even though the roads only looked wet!)once was at an intersection where the cross traffic was going 50 mph and we almost got hit!later, the truck acted up when we tried to stop in a line of traffic at a stoplight.it was accelerating so fast, we put it in park and shut if off to avoid crashing into cars ahead of us.the rental company brought us another car.we told them about the problem (which disappeared when they drove the truck away).i'm afraid that they'll rent it out again to someone else thinking that the problem was us, and not the truck!

The contact owns a 2009 ford f150. The contact was driving 65 mph when the vehicle abnormally accelerated.the contact depressed the brakes and shifted into neutral. He was able to stop the acceleration and move the vehicle from the roadway. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where they performed a diagnostic test but could not duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure was the second instance of unintended acceleration in the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 24,000.

From a stop, i rapidly accelerated to 40 mph. While attempting to stop at red light i had to apply excessive brake force to stop. The engine was running at high rpm with foot off accelerator. I had to turn off ignition to prevent going into intersection. Then a few minutes later i was on highway going 70 mph and set cruise. I took my exit, pressed on brake to turn off cruise. The exit speed was 45 mph. I was not slowing down and pressed brakes very hard to reduce speed. The engine was still racing high speed as i was approaching a stop light. I had to place trans. In neutral and switch off ignition. After startingengine again rpm idle was normal and problem did not re-occur all the way home. On 7/25/13 i turned in truck to homer skelton ford in olive branch, ms. With a detailed description of the event to service personnel to inspect or repair vehicle. (this was a first event since oct. 2012) i found a code c1963 in computer using car md and loaded defect onto web site for my records.

2009 ford f-150, 4.6l super crew.pulled into driveway and stopped to allow passengers to disembark just outside of opened garage door.once passengers entered house through door at front of garage, i removed my foot from the brake and pressed on accelerator to pull in.vehicle suddenly surged forward and engine began to rev very high.immediately pulled foot off accelerator pedal and pressed hard on brakes.vehicle continued to surge forward and increase rpms.unable to stop, vehicle slammed into front of garage wall.airbags did not deploy, engine only stopped high revs and slowly returned to idle shortly after impact.

Vehicle was motion.merging onto interstate 93.depressed the accelerator to bring the vehicle to highway speed.when i took my foot off the accelerator, the pedal did not come back, but rather was stuck wide open.i was forced to pull into the breakdown lane, turn off the engine, put it in neutral and coast to a stop.after about 5 minutes, i restarted the truck and it was fine.this vehicle has the 4.6l 3-valve per cylinder v-8 engine with an automatic transmission.it does not have cruise control or any power options.i decided to file a complaint about this after reading over 100 reports of this same issue on the internet.the manufacturer denies there is a problem.something needs to be done to correct this issue before someone gets killed because of it.

While accelerating on a ramp to merge into traffic the truck accelerator pedal got stuck causing the truck to gain speed rapidly. The truck went from approx 25 to 87mph. I was unable to get the pedal un-stuck. The brakes and emergency brake had little effect, i narrowly missed hitting another vehicle and was unable to get the truck to slow down for a few miles. I eventually was able to slow it to 30mph and put the truck in park and turn off the engine to make it stop completely.it has occurred once (and that is enough). I had the truck towed to a ford dealer and was later advised they could not replicate the problem so i could come pick the truck up. Nothing has been fixed.

On sun jan 3, 2009 at 7:20 a.m. I was driving to work in my ford f-150 2009 4x4 pick up truck, when the pedal accelerated from 55 mph to 80 mph on its own. The pedal left my foot as if i had cruise control. I don't i attempted to get the vehicle to stop i could not. I doubled down on the brakes while pumping the gas pedal and eventually the gas pedal released. The day was clear weather conditions and the temp was very cold. I was driving on a one lane divided highway and i had a vehicle in front of me. I was terrified!! i took my vehicle back to the dealer prince frederick, md ford dealership and left it for the day. The result: they were unable to duplicate the action come pick up your vehicle. So if i die my parents have it in writing that ford was unable to duplicate the action. I felt great about this. My truck was purchased nov 7, 2009http://www.f150online.com/forums/2009-2010-f-150/395891-sticking-throttle.html you can visit the above link and see this is not a rare problem never heard of before as i was informed by my dealership. Good luck!

The contact disengaged the cruise control and the failure occurred intermittently. The contact had to drive onto the emergency lane, shift into neutral gear and applied force to the brake pedal; however, the vehicle surged forward while the brake pedal was applied. The contact had to turn the vehicle off and restart it in order to reset the computer. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer several times and they were unable to replicate or diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Accelerating on interstate on ramp to merge into traffic.accelerator stuck and vehicle speed increased.had to heavily apply brakes to stop, put in neutral, engine continued to rev, shut truck off.about a minute after stopping, a loud pop was heard in cab (accelerator unsticking??).turned truck on, normal acceleration followed.this was the first and only occurrence.

The contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. While driving approximately 40 mph, the accelerator pedal dropped to the floor board abnormally. The contact placed the vehicle in neutral and shut the engine off. After restarting, the engine exhibited an extreme increase in rpms. The contact shut the engine back off and heard a popping sound from the accelerator pedal. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician stated that the floor mat may have become stuck to the accelerator pedal. The contact believed that the failure was not related to the floor mat. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

2009 ford f150 fx4 . New, 900 miles on the truck.sunroof shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces while truck was sitting in the garage.lucky for me, the ford dealer where i bought the truck repaired it at no cost and let me use a loaner truck. I was without my truck for about a week, this would have been extremely dangerous if it had shattered while driving.

While driving down the road, my right rear window just dropped.the window did not brake, the window just dropped into the door.i was able to take the molding off and tape the window up.this is the second time this has occurred since owning the vehicle.the first time it was the driver's window.i have not fixed the problem yet, but have done some research and found out it is actually the regulator that went bad.

While driving home from work on the morning of october 5 2019, i heard a loud pop above my head. I slowly pushed back the sunroof visor to get a look, and the glass had exploded outward. Nothing appears to have struck the glass. I pulled off the highway as soon as i was able, pulled into a parking lot to inspect and take photos. Shortly after that i drove it a few blocks to the ford dealership and got a service person to inspect it as well, and he agreed with my assessment of the way it broke. I got a verbal estimate for the repair of the glass and the track.

Getting into my truck to go to work i backed out of my driveway and started down the road .the drivers side window fell down with such a force that ithought i had been shot. There was no warning of failure and had been working fine up until that point. I have to use my truck to go to work, so i continued on with the temperture at 13 degrees and the windshield was around "0".while i was riding down the road and all that cold air blasted me in the face. Was a 20 mile ride from hellt. My wife and daughter drive this truck occasionally and i could only imiagine what might have happened if this would have happened to them . I think that you should make others aware of thissafety issue and urge the car companys to recall and fix these problems. While looking on internet for parts i found allot of complaints with the 2004 ford window regulators. If you would like to read some, go to yahoo and look it up. "2004 ford window regulators.

All 5 rims on 2009 ford ranger show evidence of failure/cracks. Ford technician recommended replacement of all rims. Veh currently has 5965 miles (see report 10307412 and 10311415)(fs id 1235) usda forest service gwjeff completed a fleet wide inspection of all ford vehicles with steel wheels. This is the 5th incident of this nature. I currently have 10 rims from various veh after being replaced by ford technicians. Recommend ford initiate a recall on steel wheels to determine if this is a fleet wide problem.

Took the truck into a local part storeand had a obd2 reader hooked up and it pulled abs control module code. I took into a auto shop and they were pull the code and decipher what the actual problem was. The abs control module completely stopped working.

While driving 2009 ford f150 at freeway speed the front right wheel separated.when the wheel separated it made heavy contact with the brake caliper and some contact with the upper a-arm of the suspension causing vehicle to momentarily loose control, crossing lanes of traffic.fortunately the roads were relatively unoccupied and there was no collision. The wheel had no previous damage and had not been involved in any previous accidents.the tire mounted on the wheel had aprox 800 miles of use.ford currently has the wheel and will be inspecting the vehicle in the next few days.i assume that replacement of the wheel, tire, brake caliper ant pms sensor will be necessary.

The right front flexible brake line deteriorated at the crimped fitting. The deterioration is on the inside of the line at the crimp. The deterioration acts like a check valve allowing the application of the brake but not release of braking pressure. I have verified this on three (3) replacements. The original line was replaced at about 120k and non oem at about 20k.
