At 6:30 on sunday morning a neighbor awoke us about our truck being on fire. She had already called the fire dept but i made an unsuccessful attempt with our water hose. The truck, which was in pristine condition, was a total loss. The fire started in the engine compartment on the drivers side, melted the dash and was starting to burn into the interior. The neighbor stated she heard one or two 'pops' prior to discovering the fire. Drivers side tire burned. A few months prior to the fire the cruise control quit working. We did not have comprehensive insurance on it so it was a total write-off for us. I cannot help but believe this is the same problem ford finally admitted to for the recent recall on later model trucks. The truck had not been driven for approximately 14 hours. I still have possession of the truck.will e-mail pictures to bruce york.the cruise control failed in august of 2004.no aftermarket equipment.the fire did not spread to a structure.

Vehicle had been parked for eight hours when it caught on fire on its own.the fire department extinguished the fire.vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection, butmechanic could not duplicate the problem.

Vehicle parked for 45 minutes was engulfed in flames.

Thirty minutes after coming home from work, passer-by knocked on my door to tell me my ford f-150 4x4 xlt truck was on fire. I grabbed my fire extinguisher but i was to late. While attaching our boat to our 1995 f-150 ford 4-wheel drive truck, a fire started under the hood on the left side of the vehicle burning the entire left underhood area before we could put it out.

On saturday august 26, 2005 this 1995 ford f150 was driven approximately 10 miles and parked in a parking lot. On the way to the business i attempted to use the cruise control which failed to work. I was in the business for 1 1/2 hours and returned to the truck. When i got into the truck i noticed white smoke coming from under the hood. I did not attempt to start the truck andimmediately got out. I then tried to open the hood which failed to release. I looked through the space between the hood and fender and noticed flames. I immediately had someone call 911. The troy fire department showed up in approximately 4 minutes and after prying the hood open extinguished the fire. The fire department stated that the fire was electrical in nature and recommended disconnecting the battery to prevent further fire which was done. Prior to this incident the truck was running without any problems except for the failure of the cruise control. The vehicle has not been repaired and is available for investigation and inspection if necessary.

Speed control switch on brake master cylinder caught on fire.damage limited to switch which was unplugged after failure.subsequently, brake fluid has leaked out of master cylinder at switch plug resulting in corrosion of brake parts including brake master cylinder and brake booster.brakes are now malfunctioningresulting spongy pedal and left front caliper grabbing abruptly and locking up causing loss of control of vehicle while braking when driving on any roads in any condition.the leaking fluid has caused corrosion and failure of various parts including mounts for electrical connectors and possibly electrical connectors and wiring.

My truck is a loss i have no insurance coverage for this. Plus i owed the fire dept.

My one owner l995 ford pickup had electrical failure after being parked at my home for 2/3 hours and burned and was totaled. We were lucky to be home to call the fire department and to stop other damages from occurring. During a regular inspection in feb. The cruise control was not working and the shop order the needed part and it is still on back order. Since ford has a recall on cruise control problems that can cause fires, i sent a complaint to them and they said there is no recall on the vehicle, and we regret any inconveniences that you have experienced. They suggested my insurance company had the right to file subrogation against ford but is there any thing we can do? at the least ford should recall all cruise control's not just the 2000 and newer.i wanted to notify you that it is a good chance that my vehicle was destroyed because it was not on recall and should have been. I sent pictures to tri county ford where the truck was purchases new and havepictures that i would be happy to send on request through e-mail.thank you, thomas (eddie)edmunds

Driving along on the highway, heard a loud noise, saw smoke coming from the hood area through the vents.got out of the vehicle and it burst into flames, burning the entire vehicle.

I had a ford f150 set fire while parked in hotel parking lot. Was totaled.

My son was stopped at an atm machine. He noticed smoke coming from under the hood. He raised the hood to find the wire harness on fire. He immediately ran into a local store, grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. We called the local ford dealership and they stated that there was only a problem with f-150 trucks dated years 1999-2001. Our private mechanic called ford to see about getting a wire harness for the vehicle and was told they didn't have the part for a vehicle older than 7 years. We had to use a used harness to fix the truck. We still have the original harness. The master cylinder, brake lines, inside fender well and wire harness including fuse box had to be replaced.

Faulty wiring harness.

After parkingvehicle it caught on fire. Cause unknown. Dealer notified.

1995 ford f-150 with 302 enginethe anti-lock brake light began flashing on 7-09-04.on 8-2-04 the truck caught on fire in front of my office 3 hours after it was shut down. A passerby shouted in the door that my truck was smoking. When i popped the hood open, there were flames coming from the connector in front of the brake fluid resevoir. I put the fire out with a fire extinguisher, but it immediately started again. I pulled the positive cable off the battery and used the extinguisher again. That put the fire out for good. I had the truck towed to capital ford in raleigh, nc. Capital ford replaced the cruise deactivation switch on 8-9-04 along with the master cylinder damaged by the fire. Total cost not including tow $ 489.62unfortunately i had the damaged part discarded. It is not available for inspection.

In the summer of 2003 we parked our1995 ford f150 pickup in our driveway around 2pm.no one drove the vehicle again.at 11:00 pm our neighbor came running over because he'd smelled smoke.the vehicle had caught on fire by itself. We and both neighbors tried to put the fire out but by the time the fire department got there (20 minutes later) the vehicle was totaled.it had completely burned out the engine and the inside of the cab.the tires in the front even exploded.the firemen couldn't understand how it happened but they said that it wasn't the first time something like this had happened.we have insurance and were reimbursed for the damages.we want to report this to add it to the information that's being collected on the ford fires.

Vehicle was parked. One hour later there was smoke coming from the vehicle. Suddenlyvehicle burst in to flames. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, and was told that there was nothing they could do.

1995 f-150 truck caught fire while sitting in my driveway.

On 9/19/05 i received a recall regarding a problem with the speed control mechanism on my 1995 ford f150.on 9/20/05 the local dealer (sanders ford) disconnected the wiring harness to the speed control mechanism. I was told that nothing else on my vehicle would be affected.to my surprise, the "stop gap" procedure performed on my vehicle does not work without rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate, as i discovered later in the day that the horn on my vehicle was not functioning. I returned my vehicle to sanders ford on 9/21/05 and was basically told that nothing could be done to return my horn to a functional state unless i signed a waiver and assumed responsibility for any damages resulting from the defect identified in the recall.the part to correct the problem is not expected until about late november.in the meantime, and as long as the wiring harness is disconnected, my vehicle is unsafe to operate without a horn.the following was e-mailed to ford motor company on 9/21/05 :"the response to my last e-mail failed to address my real concern (no horn after the wiring harness is disconnected). I cannot safely operate my vehicle without a horn until the fused wiring harness is installed. Nor do i feel i should have to sign a waiver if the wiring to my horn is reconnected, as advised by the dealer. Need resolution."the above information, in no way is intended to criticize or complain about the service rendered by sanders ford or any of its employees. Quite the contrary, i believe they handled the situation very professionally under the circumstances, especially mr. Arnold and mr. Renchen.

Consumer states wire harnest caught on fire. Dealer notified.

Vehicle caught on fire while parked in the driveway. The fire started under the hood. Two city workers extinguished the fire. Dealer and the manufacturer were not notified.

Ford has a recall on the cruise control switches for the f150 trucks that have not been replaced yet i just found this out when looking on the web today for the recalls on this type of truck. Mine caught on fire this morning and burnt to the ground the only thing left is the bed and the back tires.

At less thn 1500miles the coumputor had to be replaced due to the idle being so rough. The replacing of the computor did not solve the problem and the truck idles so rough that at times it will cut off at a stoplight or set there and just shake.the dealer said it was a normal problem and they could not fix it.that was problem #1.the second problem was the brakes started shuddering before i had 10,000 miles on the vehicle.the dealer turned the brakes and took off the front hubs and turned the rotors and replaced the front brake shoes.this problem was fixed.the major problem with the vehicle has been the automatic front locking hubs.in making moderate turnsto the left or right the front hubs will sometimes engage by themselves causing the vehilce to pull to the left or right with no notice. Also the front locking hubs will at times not engage when put in 4 wheel drive , thishas caused several dangerous situations when the 4-wheel function was extremely necessary.one example was going up a snow covered road ,pulling a trailer with a motorcycle on it.the automatic hubs just on their on disengaged causing the vehicle to stop it's forward progress and to start slipping down the hill with the brakes all locked.what is bad is that i have contacted armstong ford and they said they have never had a problem with automatic hubs.this is a total lie.the car part dealers around this areahave told me that one of their fastest moving replacement parts is kits to convert from automatic locking hubs to manual.ford has known of the problem of the 1995 and 1996 ford 4-wheel drive vehicles but has not acknowleded the problem.mytruck was taken to the dealer for repair of the 4-wheelautmatic hubs while under warrantyand they said they were fine.this was when the vehicle had about 28,000 miles.the vehicle has now only got 32,000 miles on it but i am going to try to change out the autmatic hubs to manual. Iam pissed!!!!

The front disc brakes are always warped and there is unstable braking.ttconsumer states there is grinding noise on right front brake, was advised to wait until it got worse, rotors and pads were finally replaced the original rotors were warped, consumer has had to have rotors and pads replaced four time due them being warped, was told that he would be getting a new truck, but has heard nothing else about that consumer also states fuel tank was leaking and also power steering noise, windshield wiper skips when there is light rain and noisy, passenger door handle haas a poor fir, exhaust system is loose, and rear sway bar bushings inoperative, temperature guage always low, shift indicator is off, head lamp is too high.

Oil pressure gauge and water temperature gauge peg out high or vasilate on intermittent bases.gauges can sometimes be "tapped down" .sending units have been changed with no affect.this condition is very distractive and does not protect equipment in case of overheating.

This morning our ford f-150 burst into flames in the engine compartment. The truck had not been driven since the night before and the truck was just sitting in the driveway. We called the fire department and they put out the fire but the truck was destroyed.

After getting home from a trip, i smelled something burning about 2 hours after we'd been home. I walked around trying to figure out what it was and when i walked outside, i saw flames coming from the driver's side hood of our 1995 f-150. My husband went over to the drivers side door to open it so he could release the hood latch, get the hood up and put out the fire. When he did that, the oxygen from opening the door ignited the flames even more and the front of the truck just went up in flames and the driver's side front tire popped from the heat. The fire department was then called to extinguish the fire. The fire affected the whole front end of the truck including the interior cab. Luckily for us, at the time, it was not close to any other vehicles or the house.

1995 ford f150 engine caught fire while on the ohio turnpike.ohio traffic crash report # 10-0027-91updated letter 04/29/10

Temperature gauge sticks most of the time, then it unsticks.also cruise control went out. Consumer had the wires checked, mechanic did not find any problem.mechanic wanted to charge him a great deal of money to help him.

Temp gauge failed.

Vehicle does not maintain a constant teperature. I have replaced the thermostat 2 times, and the temp sensor 1 time. Under power the temp gauge drops to below normal and shoots right back up. When this occurs the power also drops. I put it on an analyzer and all reports normal. After changing the thermostat the everything is ok for appx. 2 days, then it starts again.

I have a 1993 ford f150 4x4.both manifolds are cracked right in the middle large amounts of exhaust gas are entering the vehicle.

Thermostat failed.

Thermostat failed.

Engine oil pan has rusted through, causing a hole, andresulting in oil leakage from engine. Dealer and manufacturer will be notified.

The oil pan is completely rusted to the point that it made a hole right through the steel, causing the oil to seep through.upon calling the ford co. Last week, i was told by the rep. That the rust was coming from the outside of the oil pan and that it wasn't ford's problem.i then called a few garages and they all told me that they're having a lot of problems with corroded oil pans on f150 pickups and that ford does not want to admit that this is a serious problem. They told me that ford should be completely responsible for such a major problem.i would appreciate it very much if you could look into this and let me know if there will be a recall.this should never happen with a 6 year old pickup with only 58,000 miles on it, especially with the oil pan. Again, this a very serious problem and can be very dangerous if it's not taken care of right away.thankyou.

Engine oil pan corroded through, causing leakage (corrosion spots detected in numerous places).

Oil pan has prematurely rusted in only 5 years and within 88,000 miles, possibly due to poor defective manufacturing. Ford manufacturer is not providing assistance even though they are aware of defect.

While questioning mechanics about costs on a new motor for my f150 i was told there was a 'silent' recall on this engine because of the oil leak problem. Is this true? it had always leaked oil and we kept it full. Trouble seemed to be the oil wasn't getting to the engine block.

Oil pan rusted.

Engineoil pan has rusted, causing oil to leak onto catalitic converter.manufacturer has been notified.

The rear feul tank is leaking fuel at a very alarming rate. Even as it is empty the front tank will drain into it so not using the rear tank and only using the front will not help the tank leaks 24 hrs a day and is eventually going to cause a fire. I also want to state that the oil pan is a few months away from rusting through and that is another issue i will have to take up with ford.

During routine oil change, large rust blisters detected on oil pan.

My 1995 ford f-150 spontaneously burst into flames after being parked for 6 hours. A fiery inferno totaled the engine and cab. No sign of problem in vehicle prior to fire except that the cruise control stopped working for about a week and then worked again.

Oil pan corrosion, leak, looks like material failure

Engine oil pan corroded through causing leakage.

I noticed when i bought the truck in november of 2005 that the oil pan was very wet with oil. Thinking it may have been a loose gasket i re-torqued the pan bolts. It continued to leak oil.i cleaned the pan of all oil and noticed the pan had a lot of rusty areas. The oil leaks were in areas where the pan had the worst rust spots with the metal of the pan being eaten away by the rust. Two areas had tiny holes ranging in size from a tip of a pin to the larger one where it wouldlightly squirt out while the engine was running. The other two leaked slowly like from a sponge. Two of the leakswere on the front of the pan and two were at the bottom rear of the pan. I shut the engine down removed the drain plug and let the oil drain out of the pan overnight. Then i sanded by hand the areas with the leaks and applied layers of jb weld to cover the rusted out areas. It has held so far but i certainly expect more holes to appear at anytime. I keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge and check under the truck at intervals to make sure nothing is leaking. After searching the internet i have found others with the same problem. Luckily i saw and investigated the oil leak but someone else not aware of the problem would have ended up with an engine with no oil left in it and a scenario for major engine damage or even an accident. I found out the replacement of the oil pan is very expensive as the entire engine must be lifted in order to remove the pan. This all sounds to me like a defective oil pan, inferior metal used, or the coating applied to the pan didn't work as it was supposed to.

Noticed oil leak on garage floor after changin oil...went to make sure everything was tight and found the oil pan completely rusted through and 2 quarts had leaked out in 1 week. If we had been driving this at the time of complete oil loss it could have cause a serious accident. It seems we aren't the only ones with this problem. Would really appreciate further investigations in this matter. As we aren't driving this vehicle to prevent further damage to the engine.

Oil pan rusted out resulting in leakage.

I own a 1995 ford f-150 with a rotted out oil pan . It is a common problem and ford chooses to do nothing about it. The moisture gets between the paint and the oil pan metal and starts to rot it out without you knowing about it. Next thing you know you have oil dripping in your driveway because of fords inability to repair or recall this problem. These idiots want to sell you a vehicle and don't care after it is sold. The paint they used in certain 1990's models was defective and or not done properly and need to be recalled or replace the oil pan with limited cost!! take responsibility for your mistake, don't let the consumer have to deal with your incompatible!!!!

I contacted my local dealership, and they tried to fix it three times on three diffrent occasions and could not fix it. They did duplicate the problem. I then contacted the manufacturer, and they told me to bring it back to have the dealership look at it again. It is now off warranty, and my problems still exists.

Vehicle lost oil pressure as i was driving on the highway . When i noticed the failure on my pressure gage i pulled off the road and the engine was making a terrible noise. We then had the vehicle towed to a garage to have it looked at, the machanic said that he thought that i might have spun a berring on the crank. Every mechanic that i have talked to { 5 including this one!! }said that this trucks oil pump should have never gone out at only 100,000 miles. Has this ever happened before? is there anything i can do short of replacing my engine at the cost of $2500.00 ? any help or information would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation.. Thanks again, kevin light

I contacted ford motor company back when the oil change place told me about the problem, then call ford up and talked a rep. He said it was not under warranty or recall. But he said he would contact hiller ford (closed dealer to me) and they would call me within a week. I never got a call. I finally had to bring it in this week and get it replaced by a private garage in milwaukee. (the dealer's cost was way out of line.). I'm not thrilled by ford not getting back to me and this just shows what they think of there customers.i'm going to bring the part into work and have the metal anyalized and see what the problem was. Husband coming home from work brake lights and cruise control would not work. Thought it might be a fuse or something. Got home and parked truck @ 11:00 and by 11:30 truck was in flames. Sunday morning he went to change the fuse, and as he was installinga fuse, he heard a hissing noise and a smoke came out from the hood. Fuel is leaking from eitherrear fuel tank orgas line, cause unknown.

My 1995 ford f-150 has duel gas tanks and the rear tank straps have corroded causing the tank to loose all fuel(1/2 tank) leaking over the spare tire and underside of the tank. This started with the smell of raw fuel in july but could not find the leak until 3 days ago when i found a large gas spot on the drive way directly under the rear tank and the dripping fuel from the spare. I have not taken it to the dealer yet but am planning to this week.the tank has quit leaking due to being pretty well empty. But the odor is still there. The truck has 74,062.4 original miles at this time and i have owned it since november 1974. I have owned many ford's and even worked for ford at the heavy truck plant in louisville ky along with my uncle and two cousins . Never encountered anything like this before. I hope ford will rectify this problem.

The truck is equipped with dual fuel tanks. When the truck is running on the rear tank, and the front tank is full, the rear tank pumps fuel into the already full front tank, causing it to overflow out of the fuel cap and spill down the side of the truck onto to the ground. Fuel is leaking fromrear tank due to rust. Dealer has been notified.

Rear fuel tank was leaking. Vehicle was taken to dealer and was requested to be repaired under extended warranty.rep for warranty was called in and inspected fuel tank. Rep said it was not covered because tank had rusted. I quested service manager as to why a stainless steel fuel tank would rust out in four years and only 52360 miles as i have driven vehicles 200,000 miles and have never had a rusted tank. It was explained to me that there was a protective matting on the tank to protect from vibration and abration. The problem with the matting was that it would collect moisture and due to its location, does not have a chance to dry out completely. The service manager said they have had some problems with this, but not many.he di when this happened, i have since talked with several people who are familiar with. This appears to me to be a design problem of which ford does not want to recognize or change. Is this because of their past problems with tank explosions? it may not be, but it seems to be a problem that could be easily taken care of. If not, they are looking for another potentialsaftey hazard. Or maybe they just want to take a chance and keep selling $500.00 replacement tanks every four or five years. I have every package you can buy on this truck, including rust proof and under coating. I appreciate any help or thoughtsor information to the general public that you might provide on this dangerous problem.

Leaking fuel tanks. Both of my fuel tanks leak on my 1995 ford f150. This is not an isolated incident. I also have a 1992 f150 with the same problem. Ford has known about this problem. For years, yet has done nothing to correct the problem. *la

Noticed rear bumper on truck was bent and had a small dent. Hit while parked. No other visible damage. Subsequently began smelling gasoline. Small spot in driveway; subsequently saw slow drip from the rear tank area onto exhaust pipe. Upon removal of rear tank by dealer, dime-size rust hole found towards rear of tank underneath mounting strap. Ford takes position that the hole was caused by rust and is "normal wear and tear" and not covered under any type of warranty or recall. Rest of tank looks fine except for dime size rust hole that formed under the rear end of mounting strap. Hole is in thinner, rear part of the tank, which is the first part of tank that's emptied. Also appears to be rusted from the outside in, not from the inside out. I retained the faulty tank. Ford denies manufacturer's defect. Nationwide insurance appraiser surmises hole was probably caused by either a manufacturer's defect in the tank or by an installation defect, but it was not caused by a mild collision to the rear bumper.

Straps that holdfuel tank allow moisture to get between straps and tank, causingfuel tank to rust and develop leaks.

My vehicle has 2 fuel tanks. In the last month i have been noticing that the rest tank is pushing gas to the front tank. I have also noticed a strong fuel smell if i select the rear tank first after filling both tanks. Looking on line there is a nhtsa recall on 1990-1993 models. Nhtsa # 93v125000. This appears to be a common occurrence on multiple years from what complaints are on line. I have not had the vehicle inspected. I just figured out what the issue is. A mechanic told me that the strong gas smell is the front tank over filling by the rear tank. He said there is a check valve that needs to replaced.

The contact owns a 1995 ford f150. The contact stated that gas was leaking from the fuel nozzle. While driving my dual tank 1995 ford f-150, using the rear tank, i noticed fuel being forced out of my front fuel filler cap. Not sure how much fuel was pumped out prior to my noticing. I had to let the truck sit while the fuel vapor dissipated. I finally got it home using the front tank. Not sure what to do with it now.

My truck has dual fuel tanks. Fuel from the front tank is diverted into the rear tank. This causes the rear tank to overflow gasoline out of the gas cap. This happens when the truck's engine is running and it is stationary or in motion. I have to make sure the rear tank is never more than half full to keep this from happening. When i first discovered the problem i looked online and found other owners of this truck having the same problem. I believe it can be a fire hazard if leaking fuel should contact the trucks exhaust system. I own another ford f150 truck with the same problem.

After initial fluid changes(i have done several) the transmission operates smoothly for about the first 20 to 30 miles then begins shifting harsh again.

Our 1995 ford f-150 burst into flames in our garage after being parked and not running for one hour.it was fine just ten minutes before the fire started.the fire in the garage caught the entire house on fire - we lost everything, although no personal injury.state farm forensic report shows origin to be driver side, on the engine side of the fire wall, and having something to do with the brake mechanism (i'm still waiting for a copy of the report).can you compare my complaint to others and maybe tell me what might have started this fire?we have suffered a terrible loss, so we would like to know what started the fire if possible.there was brake work on this truck only six days before the fire.

Upon separation of the left front flexible brake line, a complete and instantaneous brake failure occurred.the secondary brake system (rear abs drum brakes) was ineffective even though the rear half of the brake master cylinder reservoir was properly serviced.no brake warning light had illuminated prior to the primary brake failure to indicate any problem existed with the secondary (rear) brakes.how can a modern dual brake system fail completely with no prior indication of problems.the dealer replaced the flexible brake line and stated "it works fine" but no brake warning system components or rear brake components were replaced.

The brake lines have rusredand brocken . The first time this happendi replaced the front lines. That was around 5-1-2003.then on 8-19-2003 .i was driveing to work i prist the pedal to stop and the pedal went down part way .then it went all the way down. So pulled over .and found no brack fluid in the master cylinder.checka little more and found the brake line going fromthe front to the back had rusted and broken just in front of the left tire next to the frame.

Consumer states:cruise control switch had to be replace twice due to the brake fluid leaking through to the switch.

Cruise control that has been causing fires is doing the same thing to my 1995 f-150. I was having the sensor replaced when the wiring harness for the cruise control smoked and burned up. It had brake fluid in it just like the sensor did. It blew a fuse and also smoked from the cruise control and the also near the intake. The sensor that is attached to the master cylinder had failed, brake fluid was insde it and cause the connector that leads to the fuse box to catch on fire, we were replacing that when the connector from the master cylinder to the cruise control unit smoked, but did not catch on fire. The sensor on the master cylinder caught on fire on 05-27-05.

The passenger side front radius arm bushing failed on my 1995 ford f-150 resulting in the loss of steering. The vehicle had 74,900 miles at the time of incident. The failure was repaired at courtesy ford in syracuse at a cost of 549.21. The reason i was given for the failure was rot. I was about to enter an interstate and had this failure occurred then it probably would have resulted in a fatal accident. Since this is a item that is crucial to safety i feel that this item should not have failed. Also, when being repaired, the driver side bracket was also repaired as it was about to fail also. *nlm

I own a 95 ford f150, the frame of the door in which the interior door handle assembly is mounted to is torn.the tears are in the door where the assembly has a tab that slides into the door and where the assembly bolts to the door.this gives too much and does not allow the driver to open the vehicle from the interior of the vehicle. This can create a very dangerous situation in trying to evacuate the vehicle in case of fire or eminent danger. I contacted the local ford dealer who were very familiar with this problem and was told for $80 and two weeks of wait they could weld the torn areas. I then contacted ford motor company and was told my vehicle is not under warranty and this was not an item that was recalled.a solution to this would be to have an actual cross brace to bolt the assembly to and not the thin sheet metal body of the door, thicker metal on the skin of the door, or a way to distribute the stress more evenly.

Frame cracked. *sd

Noise coming from were rivet in crossmember causing welding to wear and allowing member to slide.

There is a terrible popping " noise when the transmission shifts or the torque on the frame changes due to turning or braking, the problem goes away when the bolts are tightened, but reappears after 100-200 miles.

Underneith front driver side where its ribited at cross member is squeaking, the ribites seem to be not holding very tight, i've had this problem since i've own the truck and finally found the problem, would'nt this be a manufacture problem? thanks

1995 f150 with 120 000 kms, made in usa, 4/95, #1)both radius arm bracket/bushing assemblies replaced.part is riveted to frame.both components failed:(a)causing radius arm to 'flop' in its bore, steering & braking control problems; (b) causes radius arm and nut and insulator to protrude forcefully through the bracket, due to metal fatigue.the brackets act as an extension of the 1/4" thick frame, butare constructed of 14 ga mild steel, connected to a 3/4" solid, treated, pivoting rod by an 1 1/4"nut, at high torque setting.traveling at highway speeds could potentially be disastrous upon failure, as the proper camber of the front wheels rely on their integrity.-ford parts worker assures, "we replace those all the time."#2 failures ofboth rear leaf spring-shackle frame brackets.under-engineered, .020" thick brackets, integral to 1/4" frame, by 1/2" rivets.both parts 'ripped', causing shackles and the leaf springs to bang into the truck box and bounce uncontrollably upon highway driving.failure of second bracket due to corrosion of metal - much too thin for the job. Pictures conclude the negligence in its design.*brackets, grade 8 bolts and nuts, bushing and shackles must be replaced simultaneously in order to repair the issue:back to its original inferiority.q:how does one access documents that prove suitability of a vehicle's structural component?--does the government not have any standards for ford to follow?--do the engineers follow the laws of basic physics when they design this sort of component?--can ford really get away with selling a product that is expected to fail, only to make money on the resale of a replacement?--safety standards must be put into place somewhere:who enforces them?-- who was the engineer?who approved the plans for these failed parts, well anticipating that they would lend themselves to failure?kindest regards, sol kott

When driving and upon hitting a bump within the road surface, consumer heardshimmying coming fromfront end which causedpoor steering control. Consumer has contacted the dealer. Please provide any further details.

I had driven from buffalo on the thruway doing 65 mph to barker ny and pulled into a parking place when the front radius arm bracket gave way and the radius arm ripped through the radius arm bracket causing the front tire and entire wheel and front end suspension to turn side ways jamming into the rear of the wheel wall. If this had given way on the thruway at 65 mph i would be dead. This is nothing new to ford trucks; ford has known about this problem since as far back as 1988 that i know of. The same thing happened to my 1988 ford bronco. Ford sold a special repair kit when replacing the radius arm bracket so they had to know there was a dangerous problem. The problem is these radius arm brackets weaken and ford has had a problem with them rusting through. I was aware of this and checked the radius arm brackets often, but this time there was no evidence of them rusting through. The metal just gave way. This causes the loss of steering and can cause the vehicle to flip over at thruway speeds. The rest of the frame is in good condition so there has to be defects in the radius arms ford puts on there trucks. I will take pictures and send them to you if you want them. I don't know the extent of the damage yet, it just happened. But my entire front steering suspension is twisted. Aaa towing towed my truck so there''s proof it happened.please reply.

Front end vibrates/difficult to steer, when vehicle speed exceeds 45-50mph. *sd

Left front upper and lower ball joints made the wheel loose. Dealer contacted, and will pay for half of the repairs. Consumer states the problem still exists.

Shim on right front ball joint wears out, causing misalignmentand excessive tire wear.

Front brake rotors have warped from being hot. Have been turned once and replaced once. (owned by auburn university, fisheries dept. Auburn university, al 36849) consumer states he noticed the brakes would pump when making a stop, mechanic advised consumer that the metal alloy in the rotor might be the cause, the rotors were turned but problem came right back, and the next time they were replaced, also vehicle shimmers in the front end when consumer hits a small bump in the road, the entire fornt would vibrate violently, dealer replaced the front shocks which helped for awhile, later the steering box was replaced and that seemed to have helped the problem.

The contact owns a 1995 ford f150. While driving at speeds of 50 mph, the leaf spring bracket rusted and fractured from the vehicle. The lift spring rear bracket(driver side) completly rusted away causing the bed to come down and it also comes very close to pinching the rear fuel fill tube(dual tanks). This truck only has 50,000 miles on it and has been maintained very well.i do very little hauling or pulling with this truck that would have caused this premature malfuction. I called the ford dealer but they would not do anything to help me-so i took it to a local garage to replace. They said they replace these all the time and that the local ford dealer even keeps the brackets in stock.i have pictures and the old part.

The lift spring mounts and front wheel mounts are prematurely rusting away to a unservicable condintion and could break off from truck fram because of disintegration. Large pieces of rusted metal are flaking of of press steel mounts.

On all 1995 f-150 light duty trucks the front end lower rubber bushings have failed three times. The steering is horrible with this defect and the tires wear prematurely causing unsafe driving conditions. The ford mechanics that i have spoken to say this is a common dangerous problem and ford knows about it and it happens all the time. Please help us ford f-150 owners as i have written ford and they deny knowledge of the problem, which is a lie. Thank you for your help!

Front wheel bearings failed.

Investigated complaint of clunking noise and poor handling of truck normally driven by my son. It is a 1995 ford f150 2wd w/ 5.0l. Found rear hangers on both leaf springs had rusted out and springs were now bearing directly on the bottom of the truck bed with no connection to frame.shackles were also rusted to a dangerous state.also observed a fracture in a similarly rusted and weakened front suspension component which will have to be replaced in the near future.ground off rivets and removed hangers and shackles.replaced with parts purchased from local ford dealer.he knew exactly what i needed.stated that this was happening to many other owners of 1990 ford pickups.total cost for parts ~$150 so far plus ~ 6 hours of labor.

I noticed that my truck (1995 ford f150) lowered quickly upon being loaded and that it felt unstable. The bed of my truck was fully loaded and while going around a corner i nearly lost control. After this incident i inspected the rear springs to notice the rear mounts that attach the leaf springs to the frame had totally rusted apart and where no longer attached to the frame. I have now purchased parts and plan to repair ($116.00)

While driving about 55 mph owner heard thumpng noise and problems controlling the truck. When driver was able to pull over, tires on the right passenger's side were torn to pieces. Tire litterally exploded unexpectedly @ ~ 70mph on a very hot day. Barely had time to stop & pull over before ruining the mag wheel also. There was nothing left of the tire other than steel cords which slapped/damaged around wheel well. Replaced both rear tires to have even tread wear. Still have spare(used once) that is same as tire that blew.although this tire is presently not recalled, wanted to report such so that i might be eligible if it is recalled later. I have had at least four occasions where the abs system didn't function and the rear tires have locked and skidded.the dealer says they cannot test in the shop, and can find nothing wrong.a fellow co-worker with the same model year and f-150 experienced the same problem just yesterday with his truck. The abs system does not go into the pulse mode when the tires lock up and start skidding.

This tire was rotated from left front to left rear two weeks prior to tread separation. When driving at low speed (15-25 mph) on the day of incident we could feel a wobble in the vehicle but did not connect it to any tire problems.after driving 150 miles of a 600 mile trip a loud pop was heard we determined that the tire had blown.my pregnant wife applied the brakes and pulled the vehilcle off the road onto the right hand shoulder of i-35 just south of dallas. The tread had separated and did damage to the left rear quarter panel, and fuel filler neck of the rear tank. I took video tape (available to you) of the incident.we replaced the blown tire with the spare, continued to little rock, ar where we purchased an identical tire and replace it in the left rear position. United services automobile association (usaa) paid for a claim that we submitted. Tire blowout; driving with cruise control @ approx. 60 mph on open highway.left/rear tire (driver's side) suddenly blew out without warning or prior evidence of possible tire failure.tread is very much separated and sidewalls, both inside and outside (as relating to tire placement on truck) have approx. 30-40 slashes in them.it appears as though the tires sections (possibly belts?) just came apart and the tread portion of the tire came off.like previously mentioned, the tire had shown no warning signs of possible failure, was not underinflated, was not anywhere near close to the point of having insufficient tread wear (still approx. 3/8" tread left on tire) or did not show any superficial damage to the sidewall or tread.the damage caused to my vehicle has still yet to be properly evaluated and officially determined, although it appears there may be some damage to the wheel itself and possible damage to the hub and supension units, not to mention alignment and whatever else shows up in the damage evaluation and assessment. My 1995 ford f 150 caught fire due to the speed control deactivation switch. Fire was contained to the master cylinder area under the hood. (put it out myself).

95 ford 150 caught fire while parked. Truck was damaged and it is a loss. Fire department and inspector found that it was due to a recall from ford motors of cruise control.

Truck was parked, turned off, and parked in my driveway.approximately 3:45am i heard glass break and looked out the window to see the inside of the truck on fire.i ran and grabbed 2 fire extinguishers and a water hose; and i put the fire out.the truck is totalled now.ford asked me to tow it into the nearest ford dealer (which i paid for) asap so they could inspect it since my truck recall was not yet fixed per ford's system.the dealership just said it's not ford'sfault even though the fire happened the same way numerous other recall fires occurred.i do not believe them, so i have begun a lawsuit against them if my truck is not replaced by ford.

Temperature gauge sticks most of the time, then it unsticks.also cruise control went out. Consumer had the wires checked, mechanic did not find any problem.mechanic wanted to charge him a great deal of money to help him.

Reference to recall #05v388000.approx 7 yearsago the harness shorted out. The vehicle was parked and when starting up saw smoke and smelled electrical short.observe electrical component shortening out of the cruise control wire harness.this caused the cruise control (i.e. Horn, speed settings) not to work.i contact ford who advised there was no recall for this. A year or two later i saw a recall for this exact issue.at that time refused to fix the wire harness and just unplugged the assembly. I contacted nhtsa who advised to try again and if they don't fix file a complaint. I took to ford dealer again who advised they will not fix even though it was connected to the item that shorted out.can you please help.

Renchen.

During labor day sept 2004, my wife and i were vactioning in northern wisconsin. We had just returned from a short errand and was sitting at our picnic table, our truck was parked and turned off, my wife noticed smoke boiling from under the hood. I removed the wired running to the cruise control switch and it stopped the switch from smoking. The unit was melted beyond repair and rendered the truck unable to be moved from the parked position. I was able to get the truck going again but it has not run correctly since. Had we not been sitting right there next to the truck it would have started a fire. Does ford have any intentions of recalling this problem. I have watched a few news reports on it and see that it is not a fluke or isolated incident.

After starting the vehicle a fire started in the cruise control switch. The fire was put out, and the consumer repaired the problem. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Dt:vehicle caught on fire.the consumer's husband put out the fire before the fire department arrived.he burned his hand in the process.the consumer still has the vehicle and pictures of it. Consumer contacted ford and they said they would send someone and never did. When first bought the vehicle they fixed the cruise control then two days before the fire, the cruise control stopped working.

My truck that had been just sitting in my driveway for a couple of days just caught on fire.we thought it might have been a rodent knawing on the electrical wires, so we never contacted anyone.but lately we have been seeing how other people have had the same experience, but ford has recalled their truck.

Ford has a recall on the cruise control switches for the f150 trucks that have not been replaced yet i just found this out when looking on the web today for the recalls on this type of truck. Mine caught on fire this morning and burnt to the ground the only thing left is the bed and the back tires.

The vehicle was parked overnight and the consumer was unable to start the ignition.the consumer opened the hood, and saw wires melted.the dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.the cruise control switch caused the melting of the wiring harness and the brake fluid reservoir.all of the brake fluid leaked onto the engine.the wiring harness was burned completely from the engine to the steering column.the consumer was aware that later model ford 150's were experiencing the same problem.there was no horn or cruise control and the air bag light flashed. *sc

Cruise control failed.

I had a ford f150 and one morning we were woke up to the horn blowing. We looked out to see the truck go up in flames. We don`t know what happened because the truck sat in the drive all night. We did not know of any recalls that cause fires. But we do not know if that was it. There was nothing left of the truck and the insurance co. Hauled it away.

Drove my truck to work and parked it around 8am.around 2-3 hours later secretary noticed black smoke and went outside to check.my truck had burst into flames.fire department was able to put out the fire shortly before it reached the fuel tank.entire cab of truck destroyed; all that is left is the bed and hitch.additionally, the truck parked next to mine incurred damage including melted tires, passenger window imploded and paint badly damaged.possible other cars suffered paint damage as well.fire officials said they thought fire was caused by cruise control switch.never received any letters from ford regarding recall.pictures taken by insurance company of vehicle damage and damage done to other vehicle as well.

The vehicle was totaled.*mr

I parked my 1995 ford f150 pickup and after approximately 30 minutes, my daughter noticed smoke coming from under the hood. I opened the hood and discovered a fire consuming an electronic sensor mounted to the front of my master brake cylinder. I put the fire out and was unable to take the vehicle out of park without removing the fuse which controlled power to the abs system. I have learned this is something reported on a national news service as causing house fires and other problems.

Tried to use cruise controlit did not work within an hour the truck was on fire.

The consumer's 1995 ford f150 was parked for 3-4 hours when it caught on fire under the hood.the master cylinder was on fire.the speed control did not work along with the abs. *sc the fire was possibly due to a faulty cruise control deactivation switch.

Speed control deactivation switch on the front of the master cylinder caught fire.minimal damage but lots of smoke.it was caught very early.i understand there is a recall and an ongoing investigation.this incident just occurred and i have not had it repaired.i didn't know if this would help the investigation or not.

The contact owns a 1995 ford f-150. The contact stated that the cruise control and horn failed to operate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 75,860.

The contact owns a 1995 ford f-150.the contact stated that her vehicle caught fire under a tree.the fire chief stated that the vehicle caught fire near the cruise control.the contact could not get under the hood to extinguish the fire.she received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 05v388000 (vehicle speed control); however, she did not receive a notice prior to the failure.the vehicle was destroyed and a police report was filed.ford stated that the contact denied receiving any notices because they sent them to her residence.ford stated that nothing could be done because the vehicle was only covered by liability insurance.the purchase date was unknown.the current and failure mileages were approximately 147,000.

Truck was parked in the driveway approx. 20-30 minutes when it burst into flames.it melted the siding on the garage. Truck was totaledand there was approx. $4000.00 damage to the front of the house and driveway. Ford was notified and stated that there was not recalls on this truck and that they were not liable for any damages. Since then a recall has been issued from ford for this truck.

There was an under hood fire in the1995 ford f-150.i drove it the night before and got home about 11:00 pm.i woke up to seethe truck in flames about 8:00 am the next day.the fire departmentput the fire out,and said it was an electrical fire that started on the driver's side of the engine compartment.this soundedli,k ke the cruise control switch problem. Luckily no one was hurt and no other property was damaged.

I parked and secured my 1995 ford f-150 and went to work.approximately 15 minutes later a fire started in the engine compartment on the driver's side.the security and fire department of my place of employment responded quickly (fifteen minutes or less) and extinguished the fire.they broke the driver side window in an effort to gain access but the hood latch cable had already been disabled by the fire so access was gained by prying open the hood.everything on the driver's side of the engine compartment was ruined.the fireman at the scene pointed out the cruise control deactivation switch as the probable cause of the fire.my insurance agent (usaa) has not as of yet gotten back with me as to the estimated extent of the damages but considering the extensive electrical and other damage it is my prediction that the truck will be considered as a total loss.ford knows of this potential problem and has not in my opinion taken appropriate action through recalls.

Dt: cruise control switch burnt upandmelted the brake fluid reservoir, destroying theswitch, and melting thewiring coming from the switch and going to the switch.

Consumer stated his 1995 ford f-150 truck was totally turned offwhen white smoke started coming form the fender well on the driver's side. This happened over one year ago. The garage owner disconnected the battery terminal and the fire went out. He says the sensor for the cruise control and the wire caught on fire; like roadside flare; throwing off of white smoke; it burned the side of the master cylinder. It melted the connector that plugs into the sensor, and it melted the top of the sensor. The dealer said that vehicle was probably not covered.the consumer says anyone is welcome to look at the vehicle if needed to help determine the problems with the cars.

Consumer parked the vehicle, and smelled plastic burning. Consumer lifted the hood, and discovered a fire. Consumer noticed the cruise control disconnect sensor melted. Consumer put the fire out.later consumerreplaced the cruise control and disconnected the sensor himself.*sb

The truck was sitting in the garage at work when smoke started pouring out around the hood. I raised the hood to find the speed de-activation switch on fire.i put out the fire. And purchased a new switch from 32 ford in batavia ohio, and installed it.32 ford advised me to call ford and make them aware of the problem with the older trucks , which i did to no avail,as they just passed me back and forth , and no one would listen to what i had to say. All i want is to warn them about the problem in the older model trucks. They have fire hazard. We were just lucky that we were at work when it happened or it would have burned our co. Highway garage down. Thank you neil morrisongarage superintendent adams co. Highway dept.
