Seat belt failure.
A half an hour after parking the vehicle, it caught on fire. Thefire inspector indicated the fire originated from the ignition/ steering wheel column area.
Warning buzzer rings w/no key in ignition and door shut not ajared. Please describe details.
The truck was on fire while turning into the driveway. The fire was under the hood behind the glove compartment. The local fire department arrived to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire was undetermined. The dealer was not notified.

1993 ford f- 150,caught fire,and burned to ground,total loss.
The vehicle was parked in the garage when all of a sudden the engine caught on fire. Consume took vehicle to dealerfor check up, but the cause was undetermined.
Due todesign of clutch pedal assembly which is located underdash, clip onrod is held by brackets which are plastic, and theybroke off, causing vehicle not to engage ingear, which mayresult in a crash.the lever used to move the seat forward broke at 70,000 miles.the consumer states that the clutch slave, three alternators, power windows and heater had been replaced.
While driving the vehicle had a fire in the wiring harness due to a defective replaced alternator which caused injuries.the first alternator was defective and was replaced. There is a newly designedalternator coming soon.
The truck has caught on fire (7) times in (2) yearsdue to faulty alternator. First time being in june of 1996. (6) out of the (7) seven times this happened while drving the truck. On 3/30/97 owner had just shut off truck and flame broke out.
The 4wheel drive, u/joints and drive train have gone out on the truck 4 times, the electrical system has never worked right from day one and has been taken into dealer several times with complaints but never fixed (autolocks on doors and windows don't work after heavy rain or wet, heavy snow storm)the last time the 4wheel drive went out, the front drivers wheel flew off the truck while traveling on the highway.lug nuts and posts were not loose nor sheared off.upon contacting ford customer service each time truck taken in, have been told that there have been "no" recalls of any type on our vehicle except for one to check the bolts on the front bumper.the following have shown occassional problems since 1993, but have consistently become worse with the age/mileage of truck: intermitten wipers do not work, dimmer light and other gauges do not work in dash. The transmission has a lot of backlash/kick when putting into gear.the ignition and alternator are consistently getting worse, sometimes it takes turning the key up to ten or more times to get the truck to start.currently, once the engine gets hot, the truck spits and sputters, almost killing when you slow down and then attempt to accelerate again.the truck recently had a complete tune-up and replacement of all parts with ford authorized parts.
When starting vehicle for first timeitwill not start. Consumer would have to try a few times. Also, while traveling vehicle would run out of gas due to fuel traveling into 2nd tank.
Ignition key does not always start vehicle.
Vehicle stalls no computer codes indicating problems
I was very happy with this truck for the first 5 years. But after that even with taking great care of the truck it started to failthe altenator....$400,replacing 2 exhaust tubes for emissions $450,rear spring shackels and mount $450, the trans mission is now failing cost not known yet, never been in an accident but doors don't line up anymore water leaks in,lower sheetmetal of truck bed rusting through paint even with being waxed many many times, vent windows leak and are rusting, i know vehicels need alot of care but i think the worst problem was the rusting out of the rear spring mounts and shackels this is a real danger ,i have never heared of this happening to any vehicle. I know of two other 93 f 150's with the same problem. I hope someone can get the word out to others with 1993 f 150's so they can have this checked out for their safety.
I sawan article in the newspaper regarding a possible failure of the thick film ignition module on some pickup trucks . Are you aware of this problem andtheconcernsit may cause for the vehicle? if there is a problem how can i tell if my truck falls in this category? thank you: alfred schober.
Stalls , loss of power while driving at 65 mph dealer tested and unable to duplicate
Anytime truck is started, upon reaching 20mph the truck wont accelerate even if you floor it,and the engine acts like it wants to cut out and then suddenly the enging/transmission engages and rockets forward and if i'm not on top of this i could hit someone, especially when at stoplights while the truck is acting up.additionally, i can remove my key from the ignition without turning the ignition off, with the truck still running.is the ignition problem dangerous??i definitely know that the engine hesitation and lurch forward is very dangerous, however, this problem is intermittent and will not reproduce itself consistently, and i therfore am having trouble with my mechanic determining what needs to be replaced (i refuse to take the vehicle to the dealership to spend a lot of money and not get this problem fixed) and am more confident in my own mechanic. If you have any details on how to fix this probelm, please call me at any time at the listed phone #.

While traveling, dash light started blinking off and on intermittently andwithout prior waring, consumer noticed steering column was smoking, vehicle was on fire.dealership was aware of problem.consumer states that one of the wires for the overdrive lock out button on the end of the shifter column had shorted out, starting a small fire inside the steering column.
When turning on air conditioning saw a puff of smoke come fromvents where air blows through. Then, smelledsomething electrical burning like wires. Next the whole vehicle caught onfire.vehicle was totalled.please provide any further information.
Headlight's are working intermittently due to the wire harness which has melted.
Smoke was coming from under the stering column. Only damage was our own, with burnt wires within the wireloom under the dash. Upon investigation by my husband, he found 7 wires melted into one another. The fuse did not melt, but the wires had totally disintigrated. The wires are to small for the 15 amp fuse they are attached to. We have had this burning under our dash several times in this past year. Not until the tail lights refused to work did we do the deeper investigation of the wire loom. In the mean time we have lost our cruse control and who knows what else might turn up.i've contacted the ford motor company personally about the situation. They say untillforced by a recall there is noting they can do for our situation. Our 93 ford is well over it's warrenty and with 120,000 miles and no recall to date for my problem described above. Repairs will have to be done by us and will be reimburst unon any future recall on this particular situation. Gosh, i've read several complaints on the 1993 ford 150's all dealing with this simmilar type of situation, burning and smoke from the stering column. All that is stated is that the situation is electrical. Well, it certainly is an electrical problem and the manufacturer is the sorce of the problem. Using wires to small for the fuses that they installed in their vehicles. So let's at least warn all 1993 wehicle owners to the fact. We will be looking to replace our 1993 ford as soon as we can afford to do so. I do not want to be in an accident caused by some electrical fire or brake faillure or what ever. I have also seen that there was a fatality in one the electrical complains on these 1993 ford f-150 vehicles......this is to scarry....i do not want to own another ford product!

Left for work on this day in the usual manner. Turned onto us 19 from us 64. As i accelerated from the stoplight the truck backfired out of the exhaust, i shifted gears and it backfired again, this time the "check engine light" came on. I looked to the passenger side outside mirror and saw smoke coming from under the truck. I pulled over and jumped out. When i stopped the smoke billowed out from under the hood. I called 911 to report the fire. By the time the firetrucks got there the entire motor compartment and passenger compartment were blazing.

1. Rear leaf spring support on 1993 ford f-150. The design of the rear leaf spring support, let water and salt collect in the support. Causing rapid rust and failure of support. This could cause an accident and possible loss of human life if this part would fail at highway speeds. The ford dealer here in town told me at the parts counter, when i bought this part that they sell 5 or 7 supportsa week. This tells me this is a design flaw. In the rear leaf spring support.2. The emission system has a defect in the design which lets exhaust fumes into the cab. The pipe in the engine compartment which is connected to the heads of the engine, is suppose to pump fresh air into the exhaust to help it burn cleaner. But the problem is with this year is that it splits apart and rust causing fumes into the cab. These problems are not just mine. I know men who have the same year truck 1993 ford f-150 with a v-8 302 in it that have had the problem. This points out a design flaw that is both safety for human but also emission. I have contacted ford about these concerns. Short answer is they tell me to fix it myself. I also realize that i am talking about a 1993 truck. My truck is in very good shape only 61,000 miles on it. These are not normal wear and tear issues. I believe that these issues are design problems with the truck. Not just mine but other men that i know. I would you to look into these points please.
While fillingfirsttank fuelwould travel tosecond tank and spill out. Both pumps were replaced under warranty.also, the oxygen sesor was replaced and the plug wires were rerouted.
The catalytic converter is too close to the front axle.the converter heats the axle bushings and melts them.
Had air conditioner on & the vehicle was idling. The passenger has ms & was unable to move foot. The left foot suffered 2nd degree burns from the catalytic converter radiating heat on passenger's side floorboard. Passenger taken to hospital & had several layers of skin removed burned area. Left foot has not properly healed. Have not been to dealer.
Fuel check valve failed, causing gas to over flow out of the fill spout when transferring gas from one tank to another.
Pcv valve failed.
The pollution control valve is defective, allowing exhaust gases to escape and be pulled into the truck's interior.
Rear fuel tank when full has a smell/odor, replaced valve.
Passenger side factory exhaust manifold cracked without warning, showing fracture between cylinders two and three. Exhaust sounds increased both during idle and at speed. Noise can be described as crackling/popping at idle and a very loud high-speed turbulence (as if from a large engaged clutch fan) when accelerating. Cracked manifold has triggered "check engine" light on long trips (after 3+ hours highway driving). Have no reason to suspect the cracked manifold is a replacement. Appears to have cracked spontaneously and without external assistance (i.e. Driving through deep water, over rough terrain). Increased exhaust noise as a result of the failure was only heard at wide-open throttle, and progressed to a full-time leak within 30 days. Other stories similar to this one abound, i believe this is an issue of design.
Consumer stated the brake shoes/pads failed.
Brake shoes/pads failed. Consumer recieved recall 00t005 and is requesting reimbursement for replacement tires that were replaced prior to receiving the recall,2 firestone wilderness tires, p235/75r15 experienced blowouts while driving, consumer had replaced all 4 tires.
The vehicle was taken in for a recall on the fuel tank 93 v 089 000.upon picking up the vehicle consumer noticed that both tanks can't be filled at the same time, because if back tank is full the gas will automatically go into the front tank, so if front is already full gas to leak out.consumer feels this is very dangerous, could cause a fire, and the recall was suppose to correct this problemplease provide any further information.
The inside and outside dome lights weren't going off , my husband had to take the bulbs out i called ford to see if it was a recall they informed me that it was not so my husband started tracing the wiring and found all of the wires burnt together in on bundle it starts at the 1st plug and goes to the next hookup, we r very fortunate that this truck did not catch fire and burn i wanted to let someone that would listen know so if their r others out there having the same problems.
Has been in for service 4 times for brake light failure.tt
While driving the headlights intermittently cut off.the dealer has repaired the vehicle's lighting system one year ago and the problem stills exists.
Headlight switchwas working intermittently, and the dealer couldn't find the reason for the headlights not to work properly.
Electrical headlamp switch overheats causing lighting failures.
Turn signal switch defective.
The delay and main wiper system sometimes will stop, i can jiggle the control know on the turn signal lever, oruse a different setting and it will work again. If while using the wipers, i have to use the turn signals, then it may stop the wipers and i have to reset the control knob.
The entire signal switch which governs lights & windshield wipers keeps burning out.had called the manufacturer who said no recalls. The dealer cannot locate any problems with electrical system.
Turn signal switch failed several times.
Multifunction switch failed, causing the intermittent wipers to fail.
Turn signal switch failed several times.
Ford recalled this truck for fuel leaking from one gas tank to the other. It was fixed at the dealer and now the same problem is back.
Consumer received recall00v424000 inmail, and was informed by dealership that unless she was experiencing this problem, her vehicle would not be serviced.please provide any additional information/attachments.
The contact owns a 1993 ford f150.after filling the dual fuel tank in the vehicle, excessive fuel spilled from the fuel tank onto the ground.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and nhtsa campaign id number 00v424000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly) was discovered.the contact experienced failures identical to the ones mentioned in the recall; however, the vin was excluded.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 190,000 and current mileage was 196,000.updated 2/9/09 recall 01i008000. Updated 02/13/09.
Consumerreceived letter regarding refund for fuel cross flow condition.also, ford stated in the letter that if consumer experienced fuel crossflow condition, it will be repaired. If had repaired befored july 2001 they would give consumer a refund. Ford was not complying to letter or extended warranty.dealer replaced the fuel pump due to cross flow failure prior to recall 00s57.
Consumer received recall 00s57 and contacted dealer who stated they did not have parts available yet, three weeks later consumer made an appointment, consumer called later in the day and was informed that vehicle had not had recall repairs completed and that vehicle would not even be checked until the following day.
Rear gas tank check valve pumps gas into the front tank.if there is fuel in the front tank it forces it out through the gas cap causing a potential safety hazard.nlm
Recall on cross flow problem was done on 05-dec-2001.on 10 july 2002, consumer noticed a strong fuel smell and saw fuel underneath vehicle. Front left tank was leaking at valve. Fuel tank was not leaking prior to recall repairs.fuel tank had to be replaced.
When weather is very hot, vehicle erratic operation, causing jump and lack of fuel vehicle will jump.tt
Fuel system defective, when gas tanks are full the fuel will overflow front tank.*mjs
The contact owns a 1993 ford f-150. While the vehicle was stationary, the rear fuel tank poured fuel onto the ground. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,600. Updated 11/07/16*ljthe consumer stated a design defect in the fuel pump check valve caused the fuel to overflow.updated 11/30/16.the consumer stated safety recall 00s57 replacement of fuel pressure regulator at the injection rail can not resolve design in fuel pumps.updated 7/07/2017
The contact owns a 1993 ford f-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking fuel. When the contact filled both fuel tanks, the fuel transferred from the rear tank and overfueled the front tank which caused the leak. The contact spoke with the manufacturer in reference to recall 93v125000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly) but was informed that the recall had expired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 172,000.
The contact owns a 1993 ford f150.the vehicle is equipped with a dual fuel tank, but only one is accepting fuel.the failure is causing fuel to spill.the contact referenced recall # 01i008000 (fuel system, gasoline).the current mileage is 156,000 and failure mileage was 148,000.the consumer stated both tanks take fuel, there is a cross flow condition.the failure is causing fuel to spill through the filler cap.updated 07/06/07
Dt*: the contact stated there are problems with vehicle's fuel intake. Every time fuel was injected into the vehicle the filler cap would overflow. The dealer was contacted and determined that the vehicle had the same characteristics of a recall.the capacity of the receiving tank exceeded intake and caused an overflow from filler cap. The fuel seeping could result in fire. However the vin was not included in the recall. Therefore any service wouldincur a charge.
Consumer received recall 00s57 and contacted dealer who stated they did not have parts available yet, three weeks later consumer made an appointment, consumer called later in the day and was informed that vehicle had not had recall repairs completed and that vehicle would not even be checked until the following day.
Consumer receivedrecall notice 00v424000, and was informed bylocal dealership that vehicle would not be serviced unlessit was experiencing a fuel leak.
Fuel tank on my 1993 ford f150 rusted from the inside out and is leaking fuel and ruined my spare tire.
The contact owns a 1993 ford f-150. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed a significant decrease in the fuel gauge reading. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road. There was at least 25 gallons of fuel which had leaked from the fuel tank onto the ground while the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was equipped with a dual fuel tank and the fuel leakage originated from the front fuel tank.the failure occurred on two separate occasions. The failure occurred after the vehicle was repaired under a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 93v125000(fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximatefailure mileage was 113,000.
I have noticed that a tar like substance was leaking from the rear of the truck along with a chemical odor. I took it to a local ford dealer to have it inspected. They told me that the tar and odor was a result of leaking fuel coming in contact with the undercoating. I was told that it would cost $600. To repair the tank and that the tank was no longer made and they would use an after market tank. They told me that all these tanks leak and they suggested that i no longer use this tank. My question is, if all these tanks leak, why was there never a recall? what happens if someone gets rear ended?
The contact owns a 1993 ford f-150. The contact stated that fuel was leaking from the top of the front fuel tank because the check valve failed. The contact believed that the failure was the same as listed in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 93v125000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly) but was advised by the manufacturer that the recall was closed.the failure mileage was 207,000.
The contact owns a 1993 ford f150.while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed fuel spilling from the rear gas tank.he switched and filled the front gas tank, which also began leaking.the dealer stated that the vehicle was repaired according to nhtsa campaign id number 93v125000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly).the dealer wanted to charge $200 to replace the check valves.he informed the dealer that the recall repair was never performed on the vehicle.the failure mileage was 175,200 and current mileage was 175,592.
Consumer received a safety recall extended coverage program (01mo5) in july 2001, the program is extends to 12 years or 150,000 miles from the vehicles warranty start date, however the vehicle reached 155,000 before the letter was received, consumer does not agree with the program and feels that the defect should be replaced at no charge.
(1) filled fuel tanks with gas (2) fuel began pushing out of the rear filler cap after a few minutes of driving.notified by another driver and pulled over.opened the fuel door cover and saw gas spilling out around the cap.took the cap off and fuel blew out at me.myself and my daughter had gasoline all over us.(3) took it to the dealer and was informed it was a known defect and the recalled part had been replaced with redesigned fuel pump in 2001.new redesign is now doing the same thing.contacted ford customer service may 3, 2007, was told initially by 'sue' that ford would participate and repair the vehicle.then a supervisor, id# 1157 (shira) that it was already fixed 28 dec 01 and they won't fix it again although it's a known problem.
1993 ford f-150 1/2 ton pickup with dual fuel tanks. The safety concern is that the front tank is being filled by the rear tank and will over fill the front tank. When the front tank is selected the engine runs very rough but when the rear tank is selected the engine runs normal. I am in the process of replacing the front tank fuel pump assembly and eventually the rear tank fuel pump as well. I have recently replaced the ignition coil, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and fuel filter.
I own a 1993 f150 ford pickup. Fuel from one tank transfers to the other and overflows past the fill cap. There was a safety recall for this exact problem. Nhtsa #00v424000 and ford #93s68. They tell me the recall has expired.
Ford had a prior recall to fix the gas tank selector valve which they did. Now the my truck is doing what the fix was suppose to take care of. My gas is returning to the wrong gas tank and could cause the tank to over flow and cause a fire. I contacted ford and they said they fixed it once and now it would be my responsibility to pay to fix this.
Fuel started flowing out of my front fuel tank fill cap when i was stopped at a stop sign, which was caused by a bad fuel pressure regulator which caused the fuel pump check valves to go bad which allowed the pumps to pump the gas into the other tank and out the fill cap.i went to for to see about a recall but they said that there wasnt any.i saw a recall on the internet for the same problem and it is supposed to be for the same year as my truck..
This has been adressed by nhtsa /ford says my vehicle is not covered. Seems equivalent to recall no. Oov424. No safety defect mentioned.
Gas line leak.
Fuel tank and fuel pump failed causing gas to leak.
Fuel pumpmalfunctioned.
Tried to have a vehicle repaired for a safety issue. Ford said that it wasn't covered anymore although the original recall documnet said ford was to fix the situation regardless of age, mileage, or ownership from the date july 14th 1993 on. There was an incident with the vehicle recently that if there would have been a heat source in the area, there could have been an explosion.ref recall93v-125 ford 1990-1993 f-150.

I was shifting my truck out of park and it snapped ,leaving me stuck.but, what would have happened if i was driving and needed to to put it in nuetral to slow quickly, and then it snapped?also, just about every time i start it i have to step on the gas .is there a danger of it catching on fire from to much gas? or just totally ruin my truck?
Fuel was erupting from my rear fuel tank, i switched tanks which (temporarly) solved the problem.1 week later my truck stalled and would not start.had it towed to vancouver ford in vanc. Wa and $995.78 worth of repair/service charges; jeremy z. Service advisor verbalized that there is no current campaign or recall notices re this fuel spillage problem and major fuel supply malfunction.though my trucks problems are accurately described in detail as stated for nhtsa campaigns 93v125000 and 00v424000 i strongly believe that my vehicle should qualify.

1. One morning i started my vehicle and it would not start on the front tank so i began to use the rear tank only. 2. Very soon thereafter, gasoline began pouring out of the front tank filler cap. It's too dangerous to drive, whatever gas gets put into the rear tank is pumped into the front tank while being driven and gas spills out of cap going down the road. 3. Nothing has been corrected yet, i'm trying to get local ford dealer to fix it but they say there is no recall for my vin.

Discontinued using rear tank. Now the front tank has started to leak at the support straps that anchor tank to vehicle. Once again we dodged a bullet and did not blow up the garage/house. What's up??? has somebody got to get killed before ford repairs this problem?

Smelled raw gas from the truck this past weekend. Just purchased the tuck last month. I found that the seam on the gas tank is leaking gas. I transfed the fuel from the front tank to the rear, which is also heavy rusted. I contacted the dealer, the cost for a new tank is $175.00 for the front and a little less for the rear plus labor and anyother parts that may be needed. I am very lucky that there was no fire as the tank was near full, within five gallons of full!!!! i understand that the dealer does nor want to cover this cost or even partake in it as so many reports of leaking tanks have surfaced, in fact they had another call the same morning for another leaking tank. Ford should be held to repair the tank problems before anyone is killed.
Vehiclehas dual fuel tanks.when consumer fills up both tanks, the rear tank spills into the auxiliary tank, and it in return, spills fluid onto the ground.the consumer notified the dealership.
When putting gas into the rear tank, gas is going to the front tank ,andgas isn't staying in the rear tank.
Both front and rear fuel tanks recently started leaking on my 1993 ford f150 pickup after receiving a recall from ford for a problem with the fuel pressure regulator and mechanism for transfer of fuel from the tanks.at the time i took my pickup to 5 star ford for the recall they told me both fuel tanks were leaking at the seams of both tanks. I called ford customer service and they said the recall was for a defect that could cause transfer of fuel from one tank to another and cause leakage at the filler neck of the tanks. I believe the tanks are leaking at the seams either because of over pressure from the fuel pressure regulator causing excess pressure in the tanks or a defective joining of the tanks at their seams. I believe this to be a dangerous defect that could cause fire and property and body injury. I have requested ford to either repair the fuel tanks or replace them but they have refused. I think there is a serious risk of fire. I cannot afford the $700 5 star ford wanted to put two new fuel tanks on my pickup. Please help!

This vehicle is having the same problem as described in the recall with the two gas tankswhere the second tank overloads and forces the gas back to the first tank. Dealer has been contacted. 93v-125.
The repair on the truck was to replace both fuel pumps to prevent gas from pumping from one tank to the other and out the filler hose onto the outside of the vehicle. This was not happening when i purchased the truck. Ford motor company should have made this repair under a safety recall 93s68. According initial information provided to me by the local ford dealership and the repair shop, it appeared that this repair (recall) was not previously made on this vehicle. At the time, i called ford customer service line about this repair and was told that the vehicle was no longer covered by this safety recall because of age. I did not know about the recall until on a trip gas started spilling from the fill necks on the tanks (due to the pumps not checking the flow back into the tanks allowing gas to be pumped from one tank to the other). When i started checking into the repair, i found the safety recall referenced above. My most recent conversation with ford customer service (supervisor heather apparently somewhere in canada and with no call back number) was that ford was not required to do anything further on this vehicle since their records indicate that the recall was closed in 1998 on this vehicle, and even though the problem exists they would not provide any compensation for this repair. (the repair has already been made and an approximate cost of $1000). It seems to me that the repair was necessary regardless of the age of the vehicle or previous ford efforts to correct this safety design defect and it should be corrected at ford motor companys expense not mine. I have been given the impression by local parts stores and repair shops that this is still a common repair needed on these vehicles.
Duel tank problem under investigation by you now.problem caused by faulty check valve.one fuel filter, one fuel line going to engine, two fuel pumps (one on each tank).must have check valve to keep fuel from pumping back into unused tank.check valve failure will cause inused fuel to pump into unused tank, overfilling tank and causing it to leak out fill cap.gas drips out of fill cap.if vehicle has duel exhaust, gas could drip on exhaust causing fire and explosion.dealer agrees with my evaluation.please call for more information.this is a serious problem!

The problem consists of gas being pumped from the back tank to the front on a dual tank system. This item was a recall item, and when my truck was in for service for other work at cox ford in hampstead md they indicated that they performed the recall repair on the fuel system for this exact problem, though i was having no trouble with the fuel tank assembly at that time. About a year and a half later i noticed that after i exhausted the front tank and switched to the rear tank, once the rear tank was exhausted i noticed that the front tank would then have as much as 1/3 tank of fuel in it.i decided to live with the problem for the time being, but approached the dealer about this during april 1999 and the dealer informed me that since the recall repair had been previously done and the repair warranty had expired, any subsequent repairs would be my responsibility. Needless to say i am not very happy with ford's handling of this problem. The problem comporomises my vehicle's safety and resale value, and i have to be careful not to accidentally pump my rear tank before the front is empty.

Fuel from one of my two gas tanks flows into the other tank.i then note a distinct odor of gasoline, and if i remove the gas cap, gasoline will spill out of the tank.in addition, the rear tank has now developed a leak.i understand that certain 1993 f150 ford pickups were recalled in 1993for high fuel pressure due to a faulty fuel pressure regulator which could damage thefuel pump check valve.this allows fuel to to transferred from one tank to the other, possibly overfilling the non-operating tank, resulting in fuel overflow past the filler cap (nhtsa #93v125000) and more will be recalled in may (nhtsa#00v424000, mfg #00s57).i have called ford, but they cannot tell me if by vehicle will be includedin this new recall.it was not recalled in 1993, even though it has experienced the same problems as noted in the two recalls that i refer to.

Gas was spraying out of gas insertion point on side of truck from front tank. The truck has been previously repaired under recall in approx. 1994. Contacted local ford dealer, they were aware of prior instances where this has occured and the cause of this problem.both tanks were recently filled for this to occur. Gas from one tank is being pumped into the other tank from the return gas supply by a leak in the check valves. This problem has brought about many safety issues one being a fire hazard. Ford motor company is unwilling to do anything to remedy this situation. Ford's only response is that the recall has expired. It is my assumption that ford's design of the dual tank system was inferior or that inferioir parts are being used. This is putting my family and other families in jeopardy.

The contact owns a 1993 ford f150.the contact received a recall notice, but never took the vehicle to get repaired.the dealer stated that the recall was outdated and they would not perform the repair.the failure is a malfunctioning check valve within the fuel pump assembly that causes a portion of the unused fuel from one tank to return to the second tank.as a result, the capacity of the second tank becomes too great and creates fuel spillage.the vehicle is currently parked at his home.the recall number was unavailable.the current and failure mileages were 150,000.

Nhtsa recall number: 00v424000 - fuel pressure regulator issues - truck loses power due to lack of fuel and now it is transferring fuel between tanks while driving. I took truck to local dealership in august 2017 when i discovered the recall and was told that the truck is part of the recall but that the part is on back order from ford. It is now january 2018 and still no part. I have replaced both fuel tanks and fuel pumps when i first bought the truck along with having the engine rebuilt. The truck is unsafe to drive due to these issues but i am at loss of what to due at this point since ford is not providing the parts. I feel that the fuel check valves should be replaced by ford since i have already replaced them myself. I discovered the recall on my own in august 2017. I purchased the truck early in 2014 for my son as a high school graduation present and to drive to college. He is now a senior in college and has not been able to drive it to college due to these issues. Ford recall: 00s57
The contact owns a 1993 ford f-150. After the vehicle was shut off, the fuel would transfer to the second tank independently. If both fuel tanks were full, fuel would spew out onto the ground. The failure recurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was diagnosed with fuel pump check valve failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 136,500.
Fuel is spewing from the gas tank /cap where you fill it. When the truck is parked the gas cap hisses like it is pressurized.gas immediately starts pouring out of the gas cap and even spews out.i've taken special care not to overfill either tank.i am concerned this truck is not safe to drive.this occurs shortly after driving, it starts, sputters and then stops.
Takata recall: i just bought a my truck two years ago and even since i bought it, its been running rich and acting like it doesn't have enough fuel pressure. I have experienced bogging, hesitation while driving and fuel like smells coming from under the truck. I see there is a recall from 2001 about the fuel pressure regulator or something but i don't know much about it. I think the nhtsa recall number was 00v424000 from what i found online. I am just wondering if that's something i can still get fixed for free by the dealer since the previous owner didn't get it done. The truck only has 112,000 miles on it and is in mint condition. Any more information on the matter will help, thanks.
1993 ford f150 xlt with dual fuel tanks.the fuel system delivers return fuel from the rear tank to the front instead of the to the rear causing the front tank to overflow fuel out of the vehicle.major fire and safety hazard.this occurred while driving and continued after vehicle was turned off.ford had a safety recall on some vehicles for this exact issue but refused to repair mine.
The contact owns a 1993 ford f-150. The contact stated that there was excessive fuel leakage coming from the vehicle intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the check valves and fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,000.updated 4/20/15 updated 10/9/2015
The contact owns a 1993 ford f-150. While refueling the vehicle, it experienced leaking from the filler tube. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.
The contact owns a 1993 ford f-150. The contact was driving 65 mph and noticed fuel spilling from the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered that the middle tank was empty while the rear tank exhibited a spillage. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was not repaired but diagnosed as having a fuel pump failure. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 216000.
Started hearing fuel pump stay engaged after turning engine off and could smell fuel during these times. Fueled up rear tank next morning and when i arrived at work and got out with truck still running there was gasoline pouring out from the front gas tank spiller neck at an alarming rate. When i selected the front tank it stopped flowing.next day while in traffic at light when i engagedthe gas pedal and fished tailed due to a puddle off gasoline dumping from truck onto rd. In front of rear tires. Started having poor acceleration and seemed as if truck wasnā€™t getting enough fuel or lacked power. Still has open recall so i brought it to ford dealership explain the issue and also that cross fuel flow in those year trucks has a recall for same issue. Trucks been there 2 weeks and iā€™m being told itā€™s to be $2700 to replace both fuels pumps and shuttle valves. I showed them video of gas pouring from the truck and showed them fords recall and remedy for issue. They said they will not fix this problem in truck and i must cover cost. This after knowing of recall and seeing a video of fuel spillage will not cover cost. This is unsafe i feel as any source of ignition may cause a fire from immediate gas spillages. Ford said they would over do repair if 12 years from start of warranty date of truck or under 150k . Truck is under that mileage . But refuse to make repair under prior recalleven though this is extremely dangerous situation to be driving truck. Trucks still in shop and iā€™m awaiting for a response from ford corporate as i contacted them to explain issue in hopes they would honor repair as i feel it necessary for the safety of myself, family, and those others whom may be hurt in the event an accident occurs.
Fuel cross flows between tans. I was driving on frint tank. When i stopped fuel was gushing out rear gas cap caused $790.00 damage to custom paint job. This truck was frame off restoration jul, 08.
I just got this truck used and realized it has dual gas tanks but only the rear gas tank works. I put gas in both tanks not knowing that i realized after that the front tank doesn't work... The next morning i noticed gas spilling out from under the truck because some of the gas from the rear tank is going into the front 1 and making it overflow.

Ford early model e4od transmission has had many and multiple part failures. My third 92-96 f-150 w/e4od. Currently has bad converter and valve body. Will not lockup in overdrive causes shuddering and very bad gas mileage. Bangs hard into gears and has delayed initial shift into forward and reverse. Two previous vehicles needed complete rebuilds of transmissions. All experienced harsh shifts, slipping into gear, shuddering at vehicle speeds, blowing seals w/fluid leakage and bad fuel mileage. Inquired about a rebuild and was told to rebuild with replacement of many redesigned internal parts most of which had failed previously including pump, converter and support. All three vehicles have had problems within 10k miles of owning. Daily driven without being used for any towing.

This factory rebuilt transmission is the third transmission this van has had in 80,000 miles.the problem exists in the electronic overdrive.between 35mph and 45 mph the electronics hunts for a gear with grinding occurring. Eventually the grinding occurs at other speed ranges. The mechanic has seen this occurring on a wide range of ford products causing owners $2,700+ in reopairs each time.

While slowing from highway speeds, i attempted to downshift. When ipushed in the clutch pedal,it went to the floor, having no effect, leaving the engine engaged with the transmission while the engine was running as i was approaching traffic stopped at a toll booth. I was able to force the shifter into neutral. And come safely to a stop. Upon inspecting the clutch linkage, i found that a plastic retainer had come off a shaft connecting the clutch push rod to the clutch crossover shaft. This is an extremely poor and unsafe method of connecting vital drivetrain components. Someone of less driving experience or strength may not have known what to do, or been able to safely stop this vehicle due to the failure of a cheap plastic part and an unsafe and inferior design. This may kill someone.

1993 ford f-150 4wdfront bumper can off, all bolts missing only 1 u-clips present and it is broken.yesterday (7/22/2010) i had traveled to my sisters home, about 2 miles from my home.on returning i parked my truck as usual and went into my house. About i hour later as coming out of my house and heading for the garage, that was when i noticed that the front bumper was tilted down on the passenger side. I went to the front of the truck and was able to lift the front bumper up off the frame. It was just hanging on.i've called the local ford dealer and they told me that it was my problem.i did check the nhtsa web site and found that there had been a recall on my truck back in 1994 (#94v018000). This afternoon i did call the ford customer center about the issue and their reply was yes there was a recall for the truck but not for mine because it was made at another place.i really do not understand, it that recall had limitations why are they not shown on the recall summary? the same issue happened to my truck as the recall shown?thank you,
The driver's side crossmember bar which meets the twin beam to frameto which the mounting bolts are attached to,is falling apart.please provide further information and vin#.
Left frame rail cracked and broken behind front axle.
The right front side frame next to the control arm bracket has completely rusted through and broken in half rendering the vehicle undrivable. I have had the truck to the dealer (not the dearler where it was purchased in 1995) for inspection of the frame and it was determined that the frame is very thin and rusted about a foot on each side of the break. I have filed a complaint with ford and have talked with the service manager at progressive ford tom byers and also his ford rep nancy crowe and was told that the truck was too old and had too many miles on it and therefor ford would not repair it. I expressed my concern that i felt this was a safety issue as it involved the main structure of the vehicle and should not have broken as it has never been involved in an accident or been abused and was told by nancy that she didn't care as the original factory warrenty had long since expired. I stated that a truck frame should last more than 9 years without disintegrating and was again told there would be no compensation from ford on repairs or replacement and i was also told that the truck should not be driven. I believe i am not the only truck owner with this problem as i am being told by nancy crowe.

There seems to be a bad problem with all the lightning f150 pickup trucks 93 to 95. They are all getting a dangerous problem we call death wobble,it is a violent shaking of the whole front end of the vehicle. It has something to do with the front suspension. It can cause a very serious accident. I belong to a lightning club world wide and this problem affects all the lightning f150 pickup trucks. We in the lightning club community cannot pin point what the problem is. Some say the metal brackets are cracking which hold the front suspension together, bad design from ford. This problem happens everytime you drive the truck.when the trucks are taken to a shop ,they cannot find the problem. We would like ford to fix or tell us all what can be done to fix this problem. I can tell all owners to file a complaint too if you wish.

Control arm bushing is too close to catalytic converter. Heat fromcatalytic converter is meltingarm bushing. Ford has been notified..ford would not help pay for any of the repairs.
The shock brackets collapsed and the person loses control over the vehicle.
Mechanic noticed that the bed of truck was laying on the springs when inspecting the truck for anexhaust problem. The bracketrusted because of the design. There was a depression in the hanger that held water. The 2 hangers and shackles were replaced, but problem recurred because ofa design flaw. . this vehicle was registeredunder the lw machine products.

First failure occurred in sept, 1999 while driving west on i-40 near lebanon, tn.speed was approx 70mph, load of about 200 lbs in truck bed, 1 driver, 1 passenger.a brief "vibration" was felt, followed by a loud, brief banging from the rear of the truck.i saw in the rearview mirror a piece of rubber landing in the road and cars swerving behind me to miss it.i didn't lose control of the truck, but did immediately pull over.i observed the left rear tire and the tread was missing, exposing the steel belts and other fibers.it was still inflated.there was also damage to the truck's quarter panel and trim around the tire opening.i change to the spare and continued on.i had the tire replaced with another fr480 at a local nashville, tn dealer and the body damage repaired.the second incident occurred in october, 2000.driving west on i-10 near tucson, az, at a speed of approx 65mph, we felt a slight vibration through the steering wheel.we slowed to about 55-60mph and the vibration seemed to go away, coming back with more speed.we drove the remaining 125 miles of our trip at a slower speed and safely returned home.the next day, while driving to the ford dealership (lou grubb in scottsdale, az) i could feel the steering wheel "shimmy" in my hand, in response to the speed of the truck.the dealer inspected and found the left front to be "separating" and suggested immediate replacement.i drove a short distance to discount tire and had all 4 fr480 tires on the road replaced with goodyear wrangler's.i still have one fr480 as the spare.dot # for the first incident was vdhl1m4808 and the second tire was vnhl1pa413 (possibly vnhl1p4413).it was hard to read the number. The original tires on the truck failed at 36k miles.they caused an extremely bad vibration problem at all speeds.my mechanic diagnosed it as the start of a tread separation problem.i replaced all 4 original tires in june of 2000, with new tires of the exact same type and brand. (only one other manufacturer made a tire in this size and type, at that time).the vehicle is used very sparingly for short weekend trips.with 2000 miles on the replacement tires, the vibration problem is starting again, not yet as bad as before, but with firestone's present track record i am very concerned.i worry about the catastrophic failures that other firestone tires have experienced.i am concerned that due to the very limited number of this size and type of tire, we will have fallen into a crack in the government's investigation!

I have a '93 ford f150 half ton 4 wheel drive pickup. About a year ago as i wasapproaching an intersection my brakes failed to work.i pumped them vigorously, and then only marginally they slowed me down. Fortunately no one else was approaching the intersection. I made it to my mechanics shop and upon inspection he discovered the cruise control switch (my cruise control had stopped working a few weeks before) was shorting out, was charred black, and had been boiling the brake fluid in the brake line which was connected to it. This put air bubbles of vaporized brake fluid in the line which kept them from functioning properly. He disconnected the power supply to it and a few days later installed a new switch when it arrived. This happened almost a year ago and since then i have had no problems with it. At the time i just thought it was a fluke but now it scarces me to think it could happen to other people as well and i didn't warn anyone about it.

The delay and main wiper system sometimes will stop, i can jiggle the control know on the turn signal lever, oruse a different setting and it will work again. If while using the wipers, i have to use the turn signals, then it may stop the wipers and i have to reset the control knob.
