At 30,951 miles this vehicle had to have a new oil pan put in, and a new gas tank as the other one was leaking which can pose a danger anywhere at anytime just by a simple cigarett to the ground.i don't think oil pans should rust out.i was told this was not an uncommon problem with ford.they did not want to deal with me further claiming my vehicle was old.in years maybe, but not in mileage.the transmission leak has not been fixed yet. They do not stand behind their products as it is evident these are indeed faulty parts used by ford.how can an oil pan rust out? a fuel tank rusting out at the same time?also a transmission leak?i have sent letters to no avail. They just say it is being forwarded.we all know what that means.i don't think they should be allowed to do this to us, the comsumers.wewill not feel safe in any ford vehicle.what would have happended if the oil pan decided to go while we were driving on the highway with other drivers.i shudder to think of a disaster that could have been.thank you for allowing me the opportunity to voice myself. But, can you help me? sincerely, scott wilson.

Oil pan prematurely rusted out, causing motor oil to leak. *sd

The oil pan on my 1992 ford f-150 rusted all the way through and has begun to leak oil. I have investigated the repair cost to be between $300-$400. I have also found out that this is a reoccuring problem, with this vehicle make, model, year & engine size (4.9). I am very concerned of the cost and reoccurrance of this problem! i have also experienced the failure of one of the intanks of our (dual gas tank) fuel pumps. This cost me $385 to have replaced. I believe i shouldn't have had to pay for replacement of a faulty product! if there is any means of having the manufacturer cover the repairs of this vehicle i would be greatful for the information. Thank you for your time and consideration. James weigel.

My 1992 ford f-150 caught fire while parked in my driveway.the entire engine compartment burned for 10-30 minutes before the exploding front tire drew our attention. Oil pan leaked due to rust.

Engine oil pan has rustedand leaked. Dealer said that they have replaced a lot of engine oil pans.*ml

Consumer has noticed a hole in the oil panwhen he followed the trail of oil.

Oil pan rust through . This has happened to my truck and to 3 people i know. Ford has a problem. The pans should never rust through. I suspect they used too thin a gauge of steel in their draw die to save a few bucks. This cost a lot of money to repair, and ford should reimburse me and everyone else with rust through in the oil pans.

Shortly after purchase vehicle began to experience engine stalling, unable to rectify.

Gas moves from rear to the front tank due to fuel system malfunctioning.yh

I have a 1992 ford f150 supercab 4x4 truck with dual fuel tanks. I noticed that the fuel gauge stopped working about 1 year ago. Last week, i filled the rear tank, drove 30 miles to my place of employment, and my fuel gauge was registering 1/2 of a tank. On the 30 mile drive home, the fuel gauge went from 1/2 to empty. I assumed that i had lost the sensor in the rear tank as well. Last night, on the drive home, i refueled my rear tank just to be sure i had enough for the weekend. This morning, when i exited my truck at work, fuel was pouring out of the front tank fill cap. When i tried to remove the cap to release pressure, fuel shot out approximately 1-2 feet. I searched the internet about this issue and found recall id 93v12500. When i called my local ford dealership and asked about the recall, i was told there was no record of a recall for this. I then contacted nhtsa, who informed me to contact ford manufacturing. I contacted ford, and was told that my vin number did not fall under a recall, and when i asked to speak to a supervisor, i was refused and was told that nothing would be done.

Consumer was traveling 45mph onhighway and another vehicle flagged him down that he was leaking fuel from underneathvehicle.

Fuel from the rear tank of my truck is somehow getting into the front tank.in looking into this i found nhtsa campaign id 01i008000 which describes this exact condition.i contacted ford at the phone number listed in the nhtsa campaign description and the ford representative tells me that my truck is not covered by this campaign.when i asked how vehicles get assigned to campaigns she said it is done by nhtsa.therefore i am filing this complaint to try to get my truck repaired under this campaign.

The contact owns a 1992 ford f-150. The contact stated the vehicle was equipped with dual fuel tanks and that one of the fuel tanks was leaking a substantial amount of fuel. The previous day before the failure occurred, the fuel tank was filled to full capacity level. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they informed the contact that the fuel tank would need to be replaced to correct the problem. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.

Dual gas tank fuel system over pressurized causing gas to transfer from one tank to another resulting in spillage.nlm

Fuel system, tank filling from other tank, and if tank is switched then the other tank starts filling causing gas to come out of tank.

Dealer performed ford recall 93s68 twice on my vehicle which did not correct problem. Fuel crossflow still occurred from rear tank to front tank resulting in a hazardous condition that the recall was meant to correct. Returned truck to ford dealer for a third time to correct the same problem. I was charged $602.90 to replace front fuel pump. This should have been covered under the recall, because the original recall did not alleviate the hazardous condition.*la

The contact owns a 1992 ford f-150. The contact stated that a portion of the unused fuel from one tank returned to the second tank causing fuel spillage. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Fuel is going back into engine.

The consumer stated the gas pumped from one tank to the other and caused the tank to over flow.the consumer found a safety campaign improvement on his vehicle 01i008000 for the fuel cross over. When he contacted the dealer he was told his vehicle would not be covered because was twelve years old. The safety campaign was issued in 2001.

Consumer has noticed that the intake manifold has two cracks on both sides which is causingexhaust fumes to enter the vehicle.

In september of 1998 my 1992 f-150 caught fire for no apparent reason. I was out driving, when i got to my destination i parked. A few hours later my truck was on fire. I did not here about a recall on the fuel system untill a week ago. I am sending this to you in case there is some relation between the fire and the recall. Any information you can send back would be greatly appreciatted.

(my ford f-150 - truck - v.i.n-#1ftex15yonkb68349) the truck was stalling and i had the fuel filter changed on 03/01/04-thinking that it was the problem, but the truck kept turning off. I was putting gasoline in the back tank and then the front tank started overflowing so on 03/11/04 i took the truck back.they checked why this was happening and the mechanic found out that the truck had been on recall for check valves, which i was never notified.i called ford (champion) in corpus christi -(361-994-6200)to fix it and they told me take it in but then they said they wouldn't cover it under warranty since my mileage was too high.it was under the 12 year warranty, so i called the main office & said the same thing.i took the truck back to the mechanic and he did the job.i had previously paid $31.77 for the fuel filter change then $42.10 to check why it kept turning off and the initial fee for the valve to be installed was $212.96 - total amount spend - $286.83.

Front fuel tank pump making whining noise after only 35000 miles of shared service.notified dealer and was told that problem is a common one. Premature failure could cause vehicle to stall in dangerous situation. Ignition switch switch assembly malfunction made it difficult to remove key or to put key back into ignition. Also key will not go into accessory position.

Fuel pump check valve failed causing gas to leak.

The web sites i visited listed this as a recall but ford claims there are no recalls on this truck.

This defect was the subject of nhtsa recall campaign id # 011008000. The corrective summary in the recall notice states the dealer is to "repair the condition free of charge."however, the dealer charged me some $500 for the repair, which seemd to defeat the purpose of the recall.

When both fuel tanks are full, pressure builds up and forces fuel to spew out of one of the gas caps. I have had a coupld of motorists flag me down to tell this and then when i stop it continues to spurt out for a few minutes. When both tanks are less than full, the fuel will return to the emptier tank every time until both tanks balance the amount of fuel. This also causes the pressure build up and fuel to spurt out of the gas cap. This problem had been handled on a recall notice by the prior owner of my truck so i am told by ford that their obligation is done. My opinion is that my vehicle is still a safety threat from fords parts (even a second set of parts after the recall). Ford insists they will not pay for this. I am having my mechanic fix this for me at a price of nearly $800 so i feel safe to drive my truck that ford wont take responsibility for.

Just purchased vehicle from dealer.used with no warranty.i questioned noise coming from rear tank before buying vehicle and salesman stated "that's just the fuel pump and it is common with pumps mounted in the fuel tank". When truck was switched to rear tank the truck started hesitating on take-off.vehicle was taken to repair shop.they said that the fuel pump (rear tank) needed to be replaced and that it is common for ford trucks. I waited a week, and began having the hesitation problem on the front tank also.the repair shop suggested the fuel filter was also bad.when trying to change out the filter, they said that the o-ring in the line going from the filter to the engine had a failed 0-ring making it impossilbe to install the new filter.the fuel line has to be replaced because of this defect.the truck is in the shop now awaiting a fuel line from ford dealer.

This is the first and only recall we have been notified on this vehicle.we need to know if there are any other recalls of which we have not been notified.

After having the recall repair work done, the vehiclestill experiences a malfunctioning of the fuel pump, causing unused fuel from the front tank to flow to the back tank. Recall#93v125000.

While driving vehicle or letting vehicle idle, it would leak fuel. Took to mechanic twice& had the fuel pump replaced each time. Pressure had built up. Mechanic had to contact ford manufacturer for repair instructions on fuel pump.

In march 1998 i spent over $1000 with my local ford dealer to replace both my front and rear fuel pumps (after they failed on me while i was driving on the freeway). The mileage on my truck was 70,700. On january 13, 1999 (10 months later) i was told that my rear fuel pump needs replacing again. The mileage on my truck was 84,095. Why is it that the original ford part lasts 70,700 miles and the new ford part (supposedly the same one) only lasts 13,395 miles?

Fuel pump assembly/chech valve failed causing fuel to come streaming out when consumer loosened gas cap.nlm

Fuel pump replaced twice due to faulty check valve. *sd

Fuel pump assembly had a malfunction in the check valve where the fuel in one tank would empty into the second tank. This problem caused an overflow of fuel which would then spill out of the fuel tank. There is a recall #93v125000, but this vehicle is not covered under the recall due to vin.

I purchased a used vehicle which had a "malfunctioning check valve w/in the fuel pump assembly" causing fuel to return to the opposite tank and then due to overfill and pressure in tank causing it to come out of fuel cap.this issue was covered under nhtsa campaign id's: 93v125000/01i008000.i brought the vehicle to a dealership and they refused to repair the vehicle saying it was outside of the 12years/150,000mls warrantee date.i was rather upset b/c the paperwork recieved by the nhtsa's associate administor for enforcement states "ford is responsible for the remedy fo these vehicles from this date forward, regardless of vehicle age, mileage, or ownership".i have already been injured once from ingestion of fuel when i opened the fuel cap to investigate why there was fuel leaking out of the cap.

Fuel pump failedtwice, causing vehicle to stall.

Gas pump check valve failed.

A malfunctioning check valve with the fuel pump, there is an overflow of fuel in the second fuel tank, owner was involved in recall no 93v125000. Consumer states he has to turn the keys on and off 3-4 times or it will not start, when he fills up the tank and drive gas pours out of the front tank, this was suppose to have been fixed by the recall a long time ago, gas spilled on his garage floor, which could have caused a fire.

I have a problem with my fuel tanks over flowing. This was previously addressed in a recall invloving a back flow preventer valve which did not correct the problem. However ford was able to convince then nhtsa that this would solve the issue.the problem is with a defctive desinged fuel pump. The pump itself which is located inside the gas tank has a valve which allows the un used gas to return to it. On duel tank models, should this valve fail and remain open it will allow fuel to return to the wrong tank allowing it to overflow. Ford has since, re-desinged this pump, those people who have since had a pump go out and have paid to have it replaced received the newly designed pump which will not allow this problem . By having the pump replaced ( which is exatly what ford wants to happen) ford will claim no responsibilty ther by reducing their cost's should a re-call happen.my wife just re-turned home all up-set. She had the neighbor and her 1 1/2 yr old baby in the truck, she had just stopped and fueled up.she made a stop at the store. Our neighbor remained in the truck with the baby{with the truck running for the a/c}. She was statled my a lady pounding on the window to get out of the truck quickly, gas was pouring out from undermeath. 1) in 1992 we purchased a brand new 1992 f150 ford p.u. With duel fuel tanks, gas engine.we are the original and only owners. We had fuel tank problems in april 1994. We took the vehicle to the dealership for repair on 4-27-94 where concern #93568 and concern code #n99 was noted on worksheet and comments of repair were "r&r fuel pressure regulator...skid plate tanks. Installed check valves. Check for leaks - ok."2) in may 2005 weexperienced fuel overflow from the rear tank filler cap. When the filler cap was removed fuel gushed out. Front tank was being used at the time. We switched to using rear tank. We took vehicle to our repair shop (not affiliated with ford) on 6-1-05 and he informed us of fuel cross flow campaignnotice #01m05 - dealer repair and advised us to take to dealership. June 11, 2005, while switched to rear tank, front tank started spewing gas out though filler cap while driving, leaving big trail of fuel on roadway. With engine turned off, fuel continued to spew out of front tank filler cap onto ground creating fire hazard.3) contacted marilyn of sanderson ford dealership (707-433-6598) in healdsburg, ca on 6-15-05 where we purchased p.u. We are contacting you in hope that it can be repaired free of charge.obviously the truck had a problem in 1994 and that problem was exacerbated in may 2005.

Throttle position sensor failed causing engine to race. The vehicle lurched forward and impacted the brick wall by the side of the garage door. The impact knocked the driver unconscious. When he came to the engine was still racing and the tires were spinning. He killed the engine by turning the key off. It bent the bumper and it caused damage to the house. Having a throttle position sensor that can fail in a "non fail safe mode" is a safety hazard. *ph *nlm**dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**769765

Engine surges while driving, dealer cannot locate problem.

I do not kmow why my vehicle malfunctioned but if anyone elses vehicle has ever malfunctioned as mine did, someone could be killed. My truck just started running full throttle for no reason. Luckily i got it stopped and noone got hurt. I have not been to a mechanic yet, so i do not know the reason for the malfunction. What ever the reason, ford motor company should make the part that malfunctioned to not work at all, rather than run full throttle, some one could be killed.

This truck was purchased new. After six motors three trans. Four recalls, that we know about, and rear differential problems that we have to fix, again, we have had it!! please give any info on recalls that i have not listed,or any recourse we may have. I own a 1992 ford f-150 extend cab truck. On 6-13-03 while driving on the indiana toll road the back right tire sheared off all the wheel studs instantly. Fortunately the tire did not fall off till after the truck was pulled off the side of the road and we were going very slowly. The mechanics opinion who evaluate the truck said no other mechanical problems were detected other than the wheel studs shearing off to cause this accident. I have kept the damaged wheel studs and had all wheel studs replaced on the truck. Please look into this serious problem to warn others of the possible trouble. Hopefully you will prevent serious accidents. We were fortunate that ours ended without a serious consequence. I have listed the number of failures to be 5 since all the studs sheared off. 911 was called but no state officer responded to the incident. A 911 call should be on tape.*nlm
