While driving my vehicle, my driver side seat will move by itself. It's happened several times and is very scary knowing i cant reach the gas or brake pedal while driving when it happens. My heated seat doesnt work properly either i dont know if this is all part of the problem or not. The side airbag on my driver seat also is bulged out more then it should be i believe.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer.while idling at a red light, the contact's vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle traveling approximately 35-40 mph.as a result, the contact crashed into the preceding vehicle.the air bags failed to deploy.the contact and her child both experienced pain in their bodies due to the crash, but was unaware if the other drivers were injured.a police report was filed.the dealer stated that they would not inspect her vehicle unless the air bag light was illuminated.the manufacturer has not been notified.the current and failure mileages were 27,676.updated 06/11/09. *ljupdated 06/11/09.

After starting vehicle, air bag indicator light comes on (not every time) and seat moves to the ignition off position. Turn engine off and restart and air bag light and seat position may operate correctly but not always. If it occurs again, only after turning vehicle off and restarting a number of times will the air bag light and seat position remain in the correct positions.

Airbag indicator light came onmy vehicle. After bringing it to a dealership i was informed i need a new drivers sideimpact airbag and electrical harness. My vehicle has never been in an accident and i feel the manufacturer should correct this serious safety defect. Also my abs wheel speed sensor wiring was severed by suspension parts due to placement of wiring causing loss af abs and traction control function without any fault of mine. I feel that the srs system as well as the abs system are the two most important safety features and if they should fail as mine didi feel it is the manufacturers responsibility regardless of any warranty.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer.the contact stated that the air bag warning light suddenly illuminated.the dealer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance to the contact.the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.no repairs were performed.the current and failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Vehicle involved in driver side impact and drivers side air bags did not deploy resulting in head injuries to driver.

Abs light stay on. I was told it was c-1095 code.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. While the contact was driving on a bumpy road approximately 10 mph the side air bags deployed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and who performed a diagnostic test and the computer detected via black box that a crash had occurred. The vehicle was being repaired when the complaint was filed. The technicians were replacing the air bags, the lining where the air bags were located, and the black box. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000. Updated 01/19/11 the consumer stated prior the air bag deployment, the engine stalled. Updated 04/15/11

4/15/2011 2:00 p.m. Tried key in ignition didn't want to go in ignition at first, then it went in but would not turn.cannot get the key to turn in the ignition.wiggled the steering wheel, then it "locked".tried to move the shifting gear from park, cannot move it.vehicle was in for repair/replacement of shifting gear on/around 3/17/2011.at that time was told that this was not covered under my "extended warranty" that was purchased when the vehicle was purchased.called local dealer who agree to call roadside service for me since i needed to make arrangements for a ride (and a ride for 3 other people that were supposed to be riding with me). Local dealer took my cell phone number and let me know i would get a call back.this was on 4/15/2011 approximately 2 p.m.had to leave for appointment, didn't return until around 9:00 p.m.no call from roadside assistance had been received. Had cell phone service the entire time.called them myself around 9:30 p.m. They had no record of the call from earlier in the day which referenced my cell phone number. If the tow had been arranged earlier, it could have been at the dealer before they closed on friday.if i had known this wouldn't happen (the tow), i would have called my own towing company to do it.horrible service!:)so we were supposed to leave for vacation on monday, but not sure what will happen now with only a small vehicle to use for 4 people and 4 suitcases!not sure it will be feasible. Roadside assistance says the vehicle will be delivered to dealer tomorrow.waiting to hear what the dealer has to say, but based on past experience am not very optimistic.i feel this problem directly relates to the replacement of the gear shifter (which i don't think needed to happen in the first place).also just recently noticed that the console around the radio and the heat duct was loose.

Dome lights do not turn off unless the ignition switch is in exactly the right spot. This varies each time i start the car. Sometimes the lights come on while driving. Could reduce visibility at night.

On several occasions while driving during the past several months, the power seat has moved backwards on its own, causing problems in reaching the pedals safely. In several incidents when this occurred, the interior lights also turned on.two of the times this happened, it was when i had to honk the horn, but has happened on other occasions as well. Tonight, while making a right turn, the interior lights came on and the seat moved backwards, then the vehicle died - all electrical components went dead.i could easily have been rear-ended while trying to get the vehicle re-started and this is a huge safety issue.

The computer system got out of control. The cd player was jumping between cd's and also the automatic stirrup got stuck and could not get down when doors are open.i took the car to the dealer but they have not been able to repair it yet.

Drivers seat moved back and forth and interior lights came on while driving at various speeds, including highway speeds. First occurrence at 40000mi. Started out happening only occasionally, then began more frequently. Noticed sometimes occurred when going over a bump. Finally able to recreate the event at ford with engine running in park by touching the keys. Keys are a standard key set, not a heavy ring of keys.ford repair notes:confirmed complaint - ran electrical test - no codes stored - checked all grounds and connections - contacted techline - ran diagnostics per techline - found internal failure in ignition switch due to worn push pin - removed and replaced ignition switch and retestedpart replaced 1 au5z*11582*b cylinder ignitionrepair solved the issue. Made at 61000mithe first ford i went to for this problem was in sevierville, tn. I paid for diagnostics, but no codes. I expressed concern that the problem was related to the ignition since i had seen a similar recall on gm vehicles. Ford said would charge labor time to recreate the problem. I was then able to recreate problem in lot by touching keys. I alerted service desk and waited 20 min with engine running for a technician to come and witness the problem. They finally sent the girl that works the service counter who said turn it off and we will pull it into the bay and have a technician try to recreate it in the morning, confirming they would charge labor time to recreate the problem. She was very rude and told me no technician was going to come out and that i could leave the car or not, then stormed inside. I left without the problem resolved and made an appt. At the next closest dealership 40 miles away newport, tn. I was able to recreate the problem for the technician at the newport dealership. They were very nice and professional and performed the ignition repair quickly.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer.the contact stated that the automatic driver's seat would independently move backward and forward without being engaged. The failure recurred four times while the contact was driving at an unknown speed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or a mechanic. The contact called the dealer and was advised that the seat failure was caused by a faulty door lock actuator. The door lock actuator would send faulty signals to the automatic driver's seat, indicating that the door was being opened and causing the driver's seat to move independently. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 123,000 and the current mileage was 125,000. Updated 8/11/14updated 08/25/2014

2007 ford explorer making a loud roaring sound upon acceleration. I finally got it to do it at the dealer. The service manager, lead tech and myself went for a ride. They agreed that the fan clutch was locking up and felt that a simple r&r would fix it. However at the last minute the service manager decided to call ford engineering and he talked to an engineer who explained that the fan clutch is controlled by the pcm (module) and that replacing the fan would not solve the issue. He explained that for some reason the pcm thinks the engine is overheating and it is trying to increase air flow through the radiator. Makes sense. However there are no codes showing an overheating problem. Hmmmm'' upon further investigation it was found that the trans was throwing of an overheat code! i'm not sure why that was not apparent from the beginning. The laptop showed the trans temp at 270!. No way! so up on the lift, and physically check the trans temp and fluid temp. Well, 160 all day long! turns out that the thermo bypass was faulty and was misinforming the pcm that the trans was overheating and the pcm was locking up the fan clutch to pull more air to compensate. Replaced the thermo bypass and so far problem solved. To do this you must drop the trans pan and remove the valve body as the thermo bypass is located in the valve body.

I bought the car from a ford dealer used 2 years ago. It was a one owner vehicle. This problem started about six months after purchase and has been continuing since and over the last 3 months has been more and more frequent. Car will suddenly display the yellow box and wrench on the status screen in dash board and if cruise is set, the cruise will turn off. It will start lunging, then stop completely. After several tries i can finally get it started. Then it will start running, stop, start and will only rev to low rpm's and move very slowly. The safety issue occurs when it completely stops running suddenly while traveling at 40-70 mph. The power steering no longer works and the power brakes are very hard to use.

Vehicle interior lights would come on when the car would hit a bump. Problem would be temporary resolved by jingling the keys. At one point during this, car shut off after hitting a bump while driving. Took it in and the tumblers in the ignition needed to be replaced (as seen with the recent chevy recalls). Replaced ignition switch and problem has not occurred since.

A/c compressor failed when vehicle was 38 months old with 92,000 highway miles.repair cost was $1500+ and ford couldn't explain why it had failed so soon.after only 17 months and 21,000 miles, it failed again and was replaced under the 2-year warranty on the first replacement.

Water is leaking through the switch for the interior dome light in the driver's compartment of the vehicle.vehicle has a sunroof not sure if that is where it's coming from or not.searched online and found a tsb for this.tsb 07-20-6 water leak in headliner / dome lamp area - revised

While driving at 55mph the drivers power seat moved to the full back position. This as happened at any speed many times in the pass few months. A short operator of the vehicle can not apply the brakes to stop the vehicle if needed. You must reach down and move the seat forward with the power switch located on the side of the drivers seat. This procedure takes to long if you need to come to a quick stop. This a big safety issue. The local ford dealer as no idea what is wrong with the vehicle.

Electronic throttle body in my 2007 needs to be replaced. I have not had the car long enough to have this problem. I have been told this needs to be replaced at a high cost.

The ignition switch is on the steering column. My knee touched the key in the ignition switch and the engine stopped running. All power,(steering, brakes, forward motion), were immediately lost. This has happened on numerous occasions since then. There are other issues, which all seem to be related to the ignition switch. My local dealer said there are no tech bulletins or recalls related to this issue.

Continue to receive sudden engine surges and stalls at low speeds and now the "wrench" engine warning light comes on before the vehicle stalls.

Noticed water while raining was coming from the lighting/heating panel at top-roof panel that controls heating, air and lights after entering the vehicle.water continued to leak into the vehicle until the rain stopped, then lights inside the truck came on while driving at night which caused driver to swerve from lights coming on without warning.as of this date, truck is in body shop for repairs of water leak through the lighting/heating control switches.light switch had to be set to off until can be fixed or lights now continue to come on randomly when driving and continues to leak whenever it rains. Also, note this started after the heavy rains of hurricane sandy.have owned other suvs by other makers and never had anything like this to happen!

Ford explorer 2007 eb. Tire light would come on. Had ford dealer check. Adjusted air pressure. Continued to occur. Dealer would try to retrain sensors. Never helped. Said they think it might have something to do with an aftermarket charger for the cell phone affecting the computer. They said it is happening in a lot of cars. Problem continued after sensor retrained even if phone had not been plugged in.new tires installed nov. 2012 at sam's. They made a notation on the invoice about sensor showing fault. Went several times to dealer and they would retrain sensors. Never helped. Would start again. Finally in oct 2013 asked dealer to check all four sensors for cracks or damage. They broke down tires, inspected tpms and no cracks found. Retrained sensors again. Nothing they have tried has stopped the problem. Sometimes now it will say tire sensor fault then change to tire monitor fault. I just hit the reset button until the next time it does it, which is usually just a little farther down the road.light turns off when engine is turned off, but does it again the next time i'm on the road. Ready to just have the sensor disconnected. Frustrating.

Driving along and interior lights came on then went off in the front then the rear interior lights came on and went off. This happened two times but did not reoccur yet.could cause a distraction or problems seeing road at night.

I was shoveling the driveway and wanted to shovel under my vehicle so i started it to pull it into the garage.the ice was thick on the windshield so i put the defrost on and let it run to warm up.i shoveled the driveway a bit more then after about 90 seconds decided i would just scrape the ice so i could get it in the garage.i opened the driver's side door to grab my ice scraper and saw black smoke coming from the passenger side floor under the dashboard.i grabbed the car keys and ran to the other side of the vehicle.i opened the passenger side door and saw liquid flames dripping to the floor but not catching it on fire yet.i called 911 immediately at 8:56am and ran across the street to my neighbor's house.at 9:06am the vehicle (first video) is completely engulfed in flames.the fire department said it was and electrical problem.the vehicle was purchase 10/12/2010 with just over 52,000 miles.the fire occurred on 1/10/2011 with just under 55,000 miles.

2007 ford explorer instrument panel is not visible during the day. Customer states that he cannot see the odometer, temperature andgas gauge can be in a shadow at certain times of the day.the consumer stated the protrusion into the floor area of the seats and front seat rails is a safety hazard. The front seat anchors and rails should have a safety shield.

On 11/23/2007 my 2007 ford explorer with 14,600 miles on it would not start. It was towed to the dealer. They changed the main computer and that did not fix the problem. It took 2 weeks for this part of the repair. They then said it needed a new instrument cluster which they ordered. The new part will not be here until the middle of jan. 2008. So i will be without my explorer for almost 2 months. After the first 2 weeks they provided me with a car to drive. It just seems like way way to long to have a new car (relatively) to be repaired. Do you have info of this part failing on more ford explorers.

Running and tail lights not working.tail and running lights will not come on with use of manual or automatic light controls.found blown fuse and replaced fuse.fuse failed again when attempting to turn on running and tail lights.brake and turning lights work. Dealers service writer reported that inspection found under the dash "smart junction box" faulty and a second 2007 explorer was in the shop that day for the same reason.

This issue is one where a dangerous situation occurs without warning and has not been repeatable on demand.normally, this occurs on flat, dry, paved road at speed of under 30mph.the "traction control" light on the dash comes on, the brakes begin to hammer, making the pedal unresponsive, and the steering becomes very hard to move, pulling the vehicle to the right.after the vehicle comes to a stop (of almost to a stop)... Pressing and holding the "traction control" light/button resolves the problem, at least until the next occurrence, which could be days, weeks or months later.visits to various ford motor company dealerships have resulted in "nothing found" -- they always say that the problem didn't happen while they had the car and that no codes were found in any of the car's systems.as of today, the car is at joe myers ford, houston, tx where this same scenario has played out.

Continue to receive sudden engine surges and stalls at low speeds and now the "wrench" engine warning light comes on before the vehicle stalls.

Broken head to exhaust manifold bolts- noticed exhaust fumes in passenger compartment. Tends to go away after warmup. 4.6l v-8.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. While driving approximately 45 mph, there was a reduction in the engine power and the vehicle vibrated excessively without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on numerous occasions and remained at the dealer for two consecutive weeks each time. The eight engine coils were replaced a total of thirty times. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic numerous times, who replaced more than one engine coil each visit with an aftermarket part. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. The vin was unavailable.

Unable to accelerate without jerking or hesitation. Felt like truck was going to stall out. Engine light came on along with wrench light. Shifted hard. Ended up having to replace the shift solenoid pack, had the transmission serviced and re calibrated and still have issues with poor acceleration . Problem still not resolved.

Throttle body assembly stalled in traffic, had to pull over to avoid being hit.happened on 3 occasions.

We were driving home at approximately 45 mph and the engine shuts off. No engine, no steering, etc.my husband was reducing speed (45 to 35) using the cruise control on the steering wheel. Every light on the dashboard lit up, engine, wrench. Oil can.this is the third time this has happened.we took it in for diagnostics twice (once to an independent repair facility and once to a dealership). Both said they didn't find any error codes. The abs tone ring was replaced and a new battery was installed.these repairs did not fix the problem.this is dangerous!!!so far this has cost us $465.00.i will be making another appointment with the dealership today.

Engine stopped running for no reason was able to turn off of major highway on to side street. Let unit set for several minutes and was able to get restarted. Went several blocks and engine stalled again. Let set again and was able to drive home about two miles without any more problems . Next day engine stalled again, resarted and was able to return home without stalling.unit was then towed to repair shop for service where they did not find any trouble codes and were not able to get unit to repeat problem by warming engine and driving a number of times. They are at a loss for a solution other than a computer reprogram.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact statedthere was a loud revving noise inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the exhaust manifold and two studs needed to be replaced in order to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.

Thermostat housing unit cracked requiring replacement of water outlet 902-860.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle also locked up immediately after. The vehicle was able to restart and drove as normal. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 138,000. The vin was unavailable.

I bought this vehicle used through a certified ford dealership where my father works and i had bought all my previous cars in april 2012. It only had one previous owner, no major history and was completely upgraded by the previous owner. I had it completely checked out, had the tranny flushed, twice, and all seemed okay. No warranty of any kind was available due to ford policy... Supposedly. I moved to texas in june of 2012 and it did okay. Then one day, in september, i had my husband and children in the suv and all of sudden it just started acting strange, wouldn't speed up, the rpm's would go crazy, the noise sounded horrible and then it just stopped moving. Luckily we were just heading out of town and not yet on the major highway. We got it moved to a service station and had to call our insurance company to tow our vehicle to a ford dealership. We had to wait more than an hour for a ride home. We were now without a vehicle in a new state. I was told that the only fix was to replace the transmission. I put $4000 down on this vehicle, financed the rest and spent the rest of our savings to move from ne to tx. I had no extra cash to spend $4000 to fix it. I was told to let the bank take it and get another vehicle. I had to come up with $1000 down and get a lower quality vehicle and have the bank take it back. They sold it at auction for only $4000 so we still owe $13000! i had the vehicle for only 5 months and because of a ford problem i owe $13000?!?!?! this is not right. I have been a loyal ford girl and ford mechanic's daughter my entire life and this is what i get?! i want to know what can be done or what ford will do about this. I'm broke and my credit destroyed because of this. I don't like how everyone sues people but i am ready to sue! ugh!!i just want answers and results!!!!!!!

Noticed a smell from engine area. Noticed coolant was really low, added coolant and observed major leak under engine. I had to have the truck towed to the dealer. Repair notes from ford: inspected and found coolant leak coming from lower heater hose has fallen on right side exhaust and melted hole in side of hose - replaced heater hose and rechecked for leaks. Part replaced 1 6l2z*18c553*c hose - this part failed and cost me $481 to fix. I have seen other people post they are experiencing the same problem, but so far ford is not repairing at no charge under recall or service bulletin and should be.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly lunged forward and stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, while driving, the ignition key moved and caused the vehicle to lose power and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000. The vin was unavailable.

"takata recall":while driving normally on a straight local road, our ford explorer suddenly lost power without warning. The wrench warning light came on. It had to be towed to pepboys garage. They said that the throttle body assembly had broken down. As soon as the assembly was replaced, the car worked. Unknown to us, an "unofficial" recall of this assembly had already been made to many ford models. Of course, our vehiclecontained this same defective equipment. Hence, we request that ford pay for the replacement of the part and for the labor charge involved. The consequence of this defective equipment could have been disastrous if the stall had occurred on the expressway! my husband had had no control of the car when the vehicle stopped. It was pouring rain and he had to wait in the car for two hours for a tow truck. He had spinal surgery in october and is scheduled for more spinal surgery on june 19th, so this was very painful for him and he had much difficulty walking for the rest of the day.

I purchased my car used in 2008 with less than 10,000.00 miles on it.the radiator had to be sealed two years ago due to crack.it is now leaking coolant again, and the thermostat housing unit has to be replaced.after researching online, it appears that this is a common issue with the 2007 explorer.i'm not sure why a recall has yet to be issued.over 300 complaints online, and no recall.something needs to be done.

Vehicle started loosing coolant then developed condition where inreverse or drive it would jump like you floored it. Condition has gotten significantly worse to where car will not go into drive, but will just rev up to approx 4000 rpms.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer.the contact stated that immediately after the vehicle was started, the check engine light illuminated.the contact inspected the vehicle and that the 02 sensor was defective. The contact mentioned that in the process of replacing the 02 sensor, he noticed several bare wires. The insulation on the wires had rotted and fallen off the sensors.as a result, the wires needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact pulled down the transmission wire harness and noticed that 15 wires were affected. Also, the cooling temperature sensor had the same problem. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not provided. The failure mileage was 140,000.updated 11/12/15*lj

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and all the lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic for inspection where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000.updated 11/26/12updated11/30/2012

Multipleproblems engine light keeps coming on with different issues all within the last 6 months. I have had to have the thermostat housing unit replaced because it cracked, the transmission serviced and re calibrated, replaced the shift solenoid pack because truck would not accelerate and shifted hard. Felt like it was going to stall out. The power steering pressure switch replaced due to power steering leakand the sway bar link repaired because it cameloose. Fuel filter replaced due to engine light code indicated issues. Truck only has 81000 miles and now getting ready to take it in again because it is making a loud "clunking" noise when making only left turns. Engine light remains on even after they reset it with every repair that has been done.

Harmonic balancer is bad on a lot of ford explorers. My girlfriend and i just purchased a 2007 ford explorer and didn't have any problems at all. A couple weeks ago we notice a loud squealing noise coming from the engine compartment. First thought it was a fan belt needing replaced. Replaced that its got worse. After doing some research i found out a lot of ford customers are having problems with this issue. All the videos and forum searches leads to the harmonic balancer. These things go bad and causes more problems within the pulley belt system, even engine failure. I'm only making this complaint because ford hasn't made any adjustments or attempt to put out a recall on this issue and its the purpose of engine failure in a lot of ford explorers, expeditions, etc. The squeal occurs when the vehicle is stationary and in motion. It stops periodically, but starts up again at take off from stops and its constant when driving causing the vehicle to have a feel of lost of power. Alot of the customers are dealing with this issue themselves. Some doesn't make it to getting it fixed because shops saying its a belt and never get the real problem fixed. Ford needs to take responsibility for a mechanical part that basically runs the vehicle. Bad harmonic balancer or damage balancer equals worn belts, bad belt tensioner, and damage to engine life itself and need to resolved.

My 2007 exp. Started loosing coolant then developed the thing with reverse that would cause it to jump and screech the tires like you floored it this is scary i've always been a loyal fan of fords so why they don't want to own up to this one can't wrap your head around thisis obvious a manufacturer's defect so stand up ford and take care of us ford owner's or we'll have no choice but to buy from another manufacturer's crap then you will feel the pinch in your wallet like us ford owner;s are told to feel { ford help us keep you in business } if i did this to my customers they would no longer us my services then i'll feel the pinch get my drift [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle overheated as high temperatures were displayed across the message board. In addition, there was an increase in reading on the temperature gauge. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to another dealer who diagnosed that the radiator, water pump and heater core needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,000.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. While driving 60 mph, smoke appeared under the hood and fluid leaked underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 158,000.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall when shifted into reverse. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the failure was located at the radiator, which was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred and the vehicle began to lose power abnormallywhile driving 55 mph. A warning light was illuminated after the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to to the dealer and the inspected. The dealer advised that the engine intake had several components that were found melted abnormally. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 56,000.

Well i want to know if there was any type of recall on this suv that i was not informed of. My husband and i had just dropped off his children when the vehicle started to not want to run as if the truck was pulling back on us. Then a bad smell came in the truck and my husband parked the car to check inside the hood. As he opened the hood a flame shot out at him. I jumped out the truck and instantly that suv was on fire. Does anyone know something about these trucks catching on fire for no reason? please let me know so that i can inform my insurance company. Thank you , natalie c.

A/c compressor failed when vehicle was 38 months old with 92,000 highway miles.repair cost was $1500+ and ford couldn't explain why it had failed so soon.after only 17 months and 21,000 miles, it failed again and was replaced under the 2-year warranty on the first replacement.

Leaking radiator at 42,000 miles.very common with this model explorer.

Radiator starting seeping fluid from right top seam (aluminum-plastic) around 50,000 miles for no reason; research on internet shows numerous complaints with the 2006-2007 models with the v6 engine. Finally at 54000 miles i am going to replace the unit as the leak has gotten worse and i'm afraid of complete equipment failure on the road traveling. This is a recurring problem with many explorer owners with some having to replace there radiator three times. One site i looked at for purchase gave a part number for the 2006 models and noted that they could no longer honor a warranty due to a defect in the ford mounting system for the radiator. A class action lawsuit has been mentioned on the internet toward ford for not stepping up to the plate and addressing this defect issue. Please look into this and don't sweep it under the rug. My husband and i have (7) ford vehicles in the yard; that is all he has ever owned for 35 years. Radiators just don't start leaking - ford has a problem that needs to be brought forward.

We have a 2007 ford explorer. The radiator started leaking at just over 36,000 miles. Upon researching the issue, we found out that this is an ongoing problem with the ford explorer and ford will not do anything about it. Ford needs to step up to the plate and fix the radiators, since there is a flaw issue with them.ford needs to be made to replace the defective radiators and correct the problem so it does not continue to happen.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac. The contact stated that in february 2008, the radiator began leaking. She took the vehicle to the dealership and the radiator was replaced (under warranty) as it could not be repaired. In february 2010, the radiator began leaking again so she took it back to the dealership and was told that she would have to replace the radiator again at her own expense. She called the manufacturer and was told that they could not assist her. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 53,000.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that the temperature gauge level increased abnormally and a green fluid was leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the thermostat was leaking, which caused the radiator to become defective. The remedy failed to repair the failure and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The technician stated that an update had to be performed on the radiator. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 69,140.

I have a problem with my 2007 ford explorer ? dual automatic climate control does not work properly: in auto mode (duringcooling process) very cold air blows into my face through panel vents and warm air through the vents in footwell. No flow direction change, no recirculation at all.and i hear clicking noise from behind the dash panel. Warm air blows down in every mode (face, face-feet, windshield-feet) that i chose. I learned from internet it's a blend door actuator problem and it's been in place since 1995 for explorer model. Our local ford dealer says my ac is ok - no failures shown by scanner device. But i know there is the problem - the scanner shows only the actuator motor move but not the door move. Motor may be ok and the gear may be stripped. They just don't want to fix it. I know it?s a safety problem also because some time the blend door will break completely and my windows will be frozen in winter.

The computer system got out of control. The cd player was jumping between cd's and also the automatic stirrup got stuck and could not get down when doors are open.i took the car to the dealer but they have not been able to repair it yet.

When attempting to fill the fuel tank it takes fuel very slowly and most of the time fuel will come back out of the fill tube getting on anyone filling the vehicle. This is a major safety issues due to this could cause a fire and fuel could cause skin irritation. This is also an environmental hazard due to fuel also gets on the ground the vehicle and anything else within 2 feet of the filler door of the vehicle. The fuel tank is not venting probably to let the fuel enter and air to escape which makes the fuel back up into the fill tube and when the air comes back out it sends the fuel out with it. This happens at every fill up and it can take up to 30 minutes to fill the vehicle and not get soaked in gas heaven forbid someone would light a match by you after filling the vehicle.

Car hesitates at first start up in the morning. And sometimes when turn off and then turn on.

Inside interior lights failing to turn off after vehicle is started then coming on at random times while driving, not such a distraction during daylight hours but at night i feel its a dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer.the contact stated that there was no light indication on the gear shifter.at night, he is unable to tell whether the vehicle is in park, neutral, or drive.he took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection and was informed that there were no electrical bolts in the vehicle because it was designed in that manner.the contact called numerous dealers and they all confirmed that the vehicle was manufactured in this manner.the failure mileage was 36,000 and current mileage was 37,000.

Vehicle started loosing coolant then developed condition where inreverse or drive it would jump like you floored it. Condition has gotten significantly worse to where car will not go into drive, but will just rev up to approx 4000 rpms.

Yes driving my vehicle the power train light came on pull up at the stoplighttaking off the car went into a lower gear pulling very hard so i pull off the highway. And turn it back onthe truck continue to pulledhard. I took it to aamco transmission said the transmission needs to be rebuilt for five different code came up in the computer.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle started to jerk without warning causing the vehicle not to shift into gear mode. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.....updated 06/09/15the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. Updated 7/16/2015

The contact owns a 2007 ford exploder. The contact stated that the transmission had cracked. The contact called formula ford located at 4318 middle rutland vt 05701800-906-6065. The vehicle was not repaired. It was unknown if the manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 130,000.

While driving vehicle at any speed, if you hit a bump, the seat will retract (move away from) the controls.the seat will move all the way back to the "exit the vehicle" mode.when approaching a stop sign or stop light, if you hit a bump, and your foot is on the brake, the seat will retract from the steering wheel, all the way back.the seat moves back at about the same rate you are applying braking pressure.if you are not paying attention, you could easily rear end some one.when turning off a street, you hit the curb drain along side all business entrances of the road, the seat may move back and forth several short times, causing you to hit the throttle fast while coming into a parking lot or it may cause to take your foot completely off the accelerator while turning.i was driving in a blizzard on bad roads and for whatever reason, right hand turns caused the seat to move away from the gas pedal.which is dangerous when you have a car moving up from behind.very dangerous.been to ford for a fix, it lasted one month before it started back up.my warranty has expired and no further attempt to repair has been made.ford is aware of the issue.

While driving on the the highway on ramp the vehicle was hard to accelerate and almost caused an accident merging on the highway.when the vehicle was scanned 16 transmission obd codes came up.the cause of the codes was a corroded connector going to the transmission.it corroded from water intrusion from water leaking from the a/c drain onto the transmission electrical connector.this is a safety issue that needs to get fixed and paid by ford for poor engineering.

I had my 2007 explorer eddie bauer 4.0l v6 engine in service to replace a new radiator and reprogrammed pcm.paid $1300.radiator was leaking and transmission problems.transmission shifts too hard and hesitates going into reverse with a loud bang into gear.i really like my car except that it jerks forward when i am slowing down to stop.this occurs as my transmission down-shifts from either 3rd to 2nd gear or 2nd to 1st gear.it is a significant problem.it lunges my car forward when i am braking to stop. After they reprogrammed pcm and it runs fine for about a week then back to the same problem.ford should recall this vehicle with radiator/transmission problems. I think when radiator was leaking then it caused transmission to fail because its connecting lines between radiator and transmission.there was no warning light came on my instrument panel. It is so dangerous to drive especially with my family and children too.i don't think if it was a pcm problem.it is a physical damage inside the transmission.we are not paying to rebuild or a new transmission for around $4,000 while i am still paying on the car loan.ford must do something and recall this explorer vehicles now!!!! stop making cheap plastic / thin aluminum materials!

Transmission started to have hard shifting, slipping between 3rd and 4th gear. Jumps very hard when put in reverse. It would slip between 3rd and fourth gear when going above 40 mph and do it only one or two times when starting to drive then operate normally until the next cold start.i see several posted complaints about this model transmission. Maybe nhtsa should recall it before someone has a bad accident due to transmission failure.

Transmission started slipping and would not accelerate.

I and many other people have had transmission problems with our v8 explorers. The transmission began clucking, jerking, and slipping without reason. The problem is getting worse as time progresses. I am very upset that ford has not announced a recall.

Transmission slips going down the road and is very dangerous at intersection slips turning into on coming traffic very dangers if you have kids ford knows about the problems and will not put out a recall on them the only fix is to get a new transmission.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. When the vehicle was being inspected, the mechanic stated that the drive shaft bearings were loose and slightly detached. The mechanic diagnosed that the drive shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was a backorder on the drive shafts. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I have a 2007 ford explorer with 94,000 miles. The transmission is slipping and grinding. I do not believe the transmission should be going bad at the low of miles.

Vehicle will jolt, shift hard while shifting to reverse.have taken to mechanic to look at and it will not show any codes for transmission.this has happened several times and i only have appx 85,000 miles on vehicle.extended warranty expires at 94,000.

We are original owners. Bought new in 2007 with ext warranty. Car with <than 60k mls, never in an accident, taken care of. 01/31/2016 sun while driving approx 10 mph on a side street it lost power and shutoff without warning. Restarted after a few min. On 02/01 mon 7:00 am the same happened on the highway at approx 45 mph. My husband was able to steer the rolling car off to the shoulder. After 15 min restarted and took it straight to the dealer. Wrench light was on. Promised to have it ready in 4 hrs. At 4:00 pm hasn't been looked at yet.at 6:00 pm it was allegedly looked at by 2 techs and determined it's a transmission issue and we were now in line for a transmission specialist with 14 cars ahead of us (by itself evidence that there is a transmission issue in fords). On thur 02/04 (4th day) got a call at 6:pm that there is a short inside of the transmission and they would order the part and have it fixed the next day. $1,400 to fix. I called ford customer service and opened a case as transmission complaints are frequent. We were lucky that there wasn't a semi behind my husband on the highway on mon. On fri 02/05 i'm told the part wasn't ordered on thur because of 4:00 pm cutoff. He said it was being ordered on fri and fixed on sat. On sat 02/06 i'm toldthey never have transmission mechanics working on sat and it will be fixed on mon. Noon on mon i'm told ford offers no remedy for cars older than 6 yrs and case closed. Status of repair - he would check if the part came in when he gets back from lunch. A week without a car, no information, part maybe ordered, car not fixed and ford doesn't care if we die on the road and we have to pay for a faulty solenoid and non-reusable parts that need to be removed in order to fix this. For the last 15 years bought 4 new fords with ext warranty (not used). Ford couldn't care less about customers or their safety. No more fords!!

Transmission started to have hard shifting, slipping between 3rd and 4th gear. Jumps very hard when put in reverse. This problem only started three months ago. The car only had 73000 miles on it when it stared to act wrong. It would slip between 3rd and fourth gear when going above 40 mph and do it only one or two times when starting to drive then operate normally until the next cold start. Truck has mostly highway miles and just started driving city routes in the past two years. I see several posted complaints about this model transmission. Maybe nhtsa should recall it before someone has a bad accident due to transmission failure.

Transmission began to slip and make a loud thud sound when putting the car in gear. Took it to the dealership and they said the 3rd and 4th gear was damaged. I always took the vehicle to get serviced by the dealership when needed and now that the transmission went out they take no responsibility and won't fix the defective transmission.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced trouble shifting, an abnormal noise was heard from the engine, and the vehicle would not accelerate past 30 mph. In addition, the check power train warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred twice more. The contact stated that the transmission had been previously replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,681.

The vehicle will not recognize that it is in park. It may take up to 10 minutes of wheel turning and gear shifting before car will recognize it is in park. Ford serve stated that they could take car apart an four it together and not solve the problem.

In 9/2013 the vehicle was taken to the dealership for a metallic sound that occurred while it was turning or coasting.diagnosis was that the 4x4 module was commanding the transfer case to engage when not commanded.the dealership received an improperly recommended module from ford.they ended up using a sport trac module.this stopped the noise but caused the traction light to come on.we were advised to replace the anti-lock brake module.in 2/2014 we replaced the anti-lock brake module.on 3/25/2014 the transmission lost reverse and first gear and needs to be replaced.ford will not admit the wrong part was used and caused the transmission to go.

When trying to give gas it esatates, stalls and jerks. When this started we thought it was the fuel. The car was under warranty. We got it to the dealer it had 59000 miles on it and we were 20 days over the warranty. We were told that we might need a torque converter or a new transmission for $2800 or $5400. They would not cover it under warranty. It is still doing it and we worrey that it may cause a series accident.

Out transmission failed while driving down the road. We understand that this problem has been reported many times and that ford is aware of it. It is a malfunction in the transmission and not a maintenance problem. We were driving on 25 headed east out of bay city going straight at 55 miles an hour.

The vehicle hesitates when shifting from park to reverse, or park to drive or any other gear.you have to put the car in the gear you want and wait for it to shift.it then gives a jolt when it shifts, and then you can move.at times, the car will shift to neutral when stopping for red light, and you have to move the gear to another gear then back to drive on green to move the vehicle.the vehicle only has 73,950.9 miles and the mechanic advised it needed a new transmission.the date below is an estimated date.we have had the vehicle in the shop several times in the past year.

Transmission slipped and would not accelerate finding out a band or belt failed causing the vehicle to totally lose 4th gear.

Transmission started slipping as i was driving which did not allow me to accelerate into traffic as needed. I took to a ford dealer and they indicated that i needed a new transmission at a cost of $3800.

Transmission failed.took it in to be rebuilt and it never shifted right so i took it back again and they replaced an electrical strap; still not shifting right.took it back again to be looked at.got it back today and when i left the shop it was ok, later in the day i ran an errand and when i got in to come home i didn't have any gears, nothing and putting it in park was very difficult.finally got reverse after a few minutes of shifting up and down; put it in park again; after many many attempts i finally got drive but in the 2 position on the shifter.i had noticed that the shifter was really loose when i first got in but thought perhaps it was that way before but i just hadn't noticed.got home and had to force it in to park and then tried to go in reverse or drive again and had nothing.

Check engine light came on and after a diagnostic, it appears that there is an issue with the transmission.from reading online, there are a lot of owners that have had transmission issues with the '07 explorer.

Car was parked and upon returning to vechicle attempted to shift from park to drive.brake was engaged, brake lights were on had difficulty shifting, could not get the vehicle in drive.after about 3 attempts, it worked.called dealer on the following monday since this was a sat. Nite.scheduled diagnostics for 3/17/11.kept having this issue intermittently (more often then not) until drop off. Vehicle around 8:00 a.m. Was notified around 2 p.m. That all diagnostics point to the shifting lever needs to be replaced and that this repair ($435) was not covered under the extended warranty that was purchased at the time of sale.i was basically told it was "bumper to bumper" coverage. Left the vehicle at the dealer as i was leaving for a bus. Trip on 3/19/11.called ford customer care (called at least three times between thursday afternoon and tuesday). Finally reached the rep that my issue had been escalated to on 3/22/11. Told him that i was looking for a "goodwill" repair on behalf of ford motor co.i felt that this issue should have been covered under the extended warranty, otherwise, why would people buy the extended warranty if they couldn't count on it covering anything?final resolution was that they would contact the dealership to make the repair, i would pay the $50 deductible that i would have had to pay had the warranty covered the service.i was basically told "don't expect that the next time something like this happens that you can call ford and they will take care of it."the bottom line is i am satisfied that it is being repaired for the $50 deduct. However, i am very disappointed that i needed to "jump through hoops" to get this accomplished.i believe that the dealership should have worked with ford on my behalf to get this taken care of.about 6 months prior to this there were front end and wheel issues with this vehicle.

Electronic throttle body in my 2007 needs to be replaced. I have not had the car long enough to have this problem. I have been told this needs to be replaced at a high cost.

Tire pressure and sensor warning keeps popping on. When car is put in reverse there is a jolt that happens from time to time. Especially when parked.rpm's rile up but car seems not to be able to move. Takes about 3 tries.

I have a 2007 ford explorer with 71,000 miles. The transmission is slipping and grinding.i do not believe the transmission should be going bad at the low of miles

The contact drives a 2007 ford explorer owned by the philadelphia school district. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the transmission and engine warning indicators illuminated. The contact also stated that the passenger side mirror was detached and was re-attached with a piece of glass and tape. The contact stated that the failures were reported to the supervisor as well as documented in a vehicle report. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for repairs, but the failure persisted. The contact also stated that several other ford explorers in the philadelphia school district fleet were unsafe to drive as they exhibited hesitation and stalling. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failures. The cause of the failures were not determined. The failure mileage was unknown.

When driving 30 to 35 mph2007 ford explorer won't to pick up speed then a violently jerk come with acceleration and speed. Deeming the vehicle to be dangerous and harmful. This vehicle is not fit for a family or any person.

I bought a 2007 ironman ford explorer in april. At about 5,000 miles it started having shifting problems. Jerking into gear and surging forward when stopping. I took it into the dealership in dec.2007 at first they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Four days later it was back at the dealership and after they drove it for a while they finally noticed the problem. Theyre- programmed it and it drove fine for about two weeks. On jan. 18th it was back in at the dealership with the same problem now the have had it for seven days and don't know when they will have it fixed.

The latest complaint/issue is that i am getting a blinking "o/d off" light and "service engine soon" light in my explorer.i had just had my truck in for some extensive assessment, following a litany of back-to-back electrical issues (full battery failure, failure of the 4wd component, broken or detached wire in driver's door, resulting in inability to lock/alarm that door with remote) as well as,long as it was in there, the 60k maintenance cycle (which included electrical, transmission, clutch, and axlecheckup).then, problems again - i noted a blinking "o/d off" light and "service engine soon" light on the console while driving on the weekend.i was forced to take it back in for maintenance, about 3-4 weeks after the last service.just talking through this on the phone with the service dept, the indicated it was probably a transmission problem - quick search on the web for other ford owners with similar indications/warning lights seemed to back that up - so i anticipated i was looking at a full transmission replacement.to add insult to injury, the ford dealer where i get service done was in a 2-week backlog on transmission work (seems ford has a lot of these issues...)...so i ended up dropping off my truck and did not see it for 2 weeks while the work was done - then, when i asked if they had rebuilt the entire transmission (so that i could expect, at least, another 50-60k w/o the next issue), they noted that they had not rebuilt it all - here at am a few weeks later and the transmission seems to be acting up again...very disappointed in the quality of this ford with the repeated, back-to-back electrical and mechanical issues that all seem to happen at the same time - right around 50-60k for the 2003 model xlt.

Vehicle has started to roll away when in park.took in for service and reported to dealer.they claim they can find nothing wrong.this has happened 5 times.

My wife was driving down the street and without warning the car stopped accelerating when she tried driving.she was able to coast across 2 lanes with hazards on and park the car.a local shop says the transmission is french and is known to have issues of failure.total repair will be $2900 with an american made transmission with a 100k mile warranty.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that the vehicle was not accurately shifting gears and the vehicle would accelerate backwards while in drive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they performed a diagnostic test which concluded that they needed to reprogram the trans memory to update calibration for converter lockup. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified. The current and failure mileages were 29,000. Updated 11/28/11

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle. There were no injuries but the vehicle was not in drivable condition. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership where transmission fluid was added to allow the vehicle to shift properly. The contact noticed similar transmission problems a month later so the vehicle was taken back to the dealership where the transmission overhaul and throttle position sensor were replaced. After the repairs, the vehicle was parked on hill and it suddenly rolled down. The failure mileage was approximately 21,900.

Transmission wants to surge in first gear and then slams itself into second. Also at low speeds it wants to surge up and down by not pushing on the gas. Now the seat belt is stuck where i can hardly get it long enough to get it on. I have reported the transmission problem before. They reprogrammed the transmission and it fixed it for about one week .then it started all over again. Sure wish i had never have bought it. I got so disgusted i bought a 2008 toyota camry and love it.

Almost from day one i thought there was a transmission problem.ford never informed me, so i waited until it was noticeable enough to drop it off at a ford dealership for repair.when coming to a stop the transmission kicked as if someone had run into the back of us or the transmission would unexpectedly lunge the suv forward as it came to a stop.the consumer stated in order for the dealership to fix the problem, they had to reprogram and replace the bad software part with a new software part.even though the transmission was reprogrammed, the consumer was informed the problem most likely would return. The consumer also stated there was a problem with the brakes. Updated 04/07/10.

I have 2007 ford explorer eddie bauer edition with 4.6l v8 engine. My car jerks and lunges forward as i'm slowing down to stop. It appears to me that this problem occurs when my automatic transmission down-shifts from either 3rd to 2nd gear or 2nd to 1st gear. This is a significant and potentially dangerous problem.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer.while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitates and lunges from first to second gear.the failure occurs during acceleration and deceleration.the vehicle has been to the dealer six times and they performed tsb work and reset the tcm system.the current mileage was 13,000 and failure mileage was 500.updated 04/22/08.*lj

This vehicle has less than 60,000 miles on it and the transmission is out. There is no reason for this. It is jerking into gear hard. We took it and had it put on a diagnostic test and it is not electrical which means it is internal.

I am having problems with my brakes bleeding down it is to go in the shop in a couple of days..i have also had the surging problem as others have had. My car was taken to a local ford dealership were they keep it for a couple of days. They did have to reset the computer and the surging has stopped and had no problems since then.

I purchased my new 2007 explorer v8 eddie bauer on 06-07-07. I traded in a 2002 same thing. The minute i drove it off the lot i knew there was a transmission problem with it. Also if you are idling along at a slow speed it acts like you are gently giving it gas as it speeds up and slows down. The back lock on the window wants to pop open a lot also. The dealer has reprogrammed the transmission once and for about a week i thought it was fixed. Then it started all over again with the transmission. Driver's seat moves backward while driving resulting in driver's inability to reach gas/break pedals.occurs at times when hit bumps, while turning, and/or unknown reasons when driving 70mph. Definitely a safety issue and can result in traffic accidents/fatalities. Does not happen all the time. Never know when to expect it to happen which makes it more dangerous. Started occurring after vehicle reached 125,000 miles approximately 6 months ago and has occurred at least 4x/month since started in october 2015.

Driver's seat moves backward while driving resulting in driver's inability to reach gas/break pedals. Occurs at times when hit bumps, while turning, and/or unknown reasons. Definitely a safety issue and can result in traffic accidents/fatalities. I can make this happen even when the vehicle is in park by tapping the key. Does not happen all the time. Never know when to expect it to happen which makes it more dangerous. Seems to be defective ignition switch.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the front driver's side seat began to release independently. The contact was able to move her body forward in order to depress the brakes and accelerator pedal. The power seat operated normally after several minutes however, the failure recurred sporadically. The vehicle was taken an authorized dealer where they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 65,965.

Driver seat moves backwards while driving on multiple occasions. This has started happening october 2017. Since then it has become more frequent and will happen at random so the cause is unknown. Speeds can range from 40 mph to 70 mph. Which results in not being able to reach the break or gas pedal. This can be very dangerous in an emergency breaking situation.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that the automatic driver's seat would intermittently and independently move backward and forward without being engaged. The failure would recur at various speeds without warning. The contact called the dealer, who stated the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000.

When i would turn my vehicle seat will adjust and, now when i am driving the seat moves backby itself. And i have trouble reaching for the brakes. It has something to do with the key ignition switch.

While in motion, the driver power seat will make un-commanded movement backwards and away from steering wheel and pedals.this scenario typically, but not always, occurs during a turn or acceleration.it has also occurred while at a steady speed in the city and on the highway.it appears to be related to the ignition located on the steering column.this has happened numerous times over the last several months and seems to be getting worse.speeds at which this occurs range between initial acceleration up to highway speeds (70 mph)

My 2007 explorer driver seat move at will, forward or backward even while driving. I am short and the power seat moves back to where my feet no longer reach the pedals. This happens consistently when driving or just stationary while changing gears and has become a safety issue. The car has only 40,000 miles. I took it to have repaired but the dealer says there is nothing wrong with it. A net search reveals i am not the only one with this problem.

Several times over the past year the drivers seat inadvertently moves forward and back while driving.i cannot associate this movement with any other situation or action.i consider this asafety issue.

While driving on a city street i hit a bump and the seat went all the way back.i could not reach the brake pedal and had to manually put the seat forward.also, the dome lights came on when i braked hard.

2007 ford explorer 2 wheel drive v6 automatic trans with an electric automatic adjusting drivers seat.the auto set button has two (2) seat selections, one for each of two different drivers. The unsafe problem is that the seat moves back and forth, up and down on its own.twice today, 8/9/10 the seat moved all the way back when i put my foot on the brake pedal while driving 70 mph on the interstate i-20 west. When the seat moves back it pulls my foot off of the brake pedal.scares the daylights out of me because now i cannot reach the pedal and have no brake until i move the seat back towards the steering wheel where i can reach the brake pedal.it is a good thing i do not tailgate.

Hit a bump and the driver seat randomly moved all the way back to the point i could no longer reach the pedals.

With outside temperatures between 90 f and 100 f, applying service brakes, a groaning noise is generated by the power brake booster. The performance of the brake system seems to be slightly compromised.the noise or loss of effectiveness is not present in temperatures below 90 f.i had the exact same issue on a 2011 mustang gt.the dealer replaced the brake booster under warranty, problem solved.they told me ford was re-designing the component.

Power brake booster failure. Diaphragm inside the brake booster failed suddenly causing a hard time to stop when traveling at a highway.no crash involved but had to use the shoulder for extra stopping distance.

Was approaching a red light and applied pressure to brake pedal. The brake pedal has hard and wouldn't depress. The abs and traction control lights came on and the vehicle continued through the red light. Fortunately there was no one in front of me or any cross traffic. Releasing the brake pedal and reapplying with the abs and traction control lights on the vehicle was finally able to stop. Carefully drove the vehicle home and had it towed to the dealer the following morning. Dealer diagnosed it as the front hubs being defective. The hub bearings were so loose that the abs sensor and speed ring were not in close proximity to each other. Dealer replaced hubs and vehicle is now functioning properly.

I was coasting up to a stop light and began applying the brakes.the brakes did not seem to be stopping the car and i realized that the engine was running at 3000 rpms while my right foot was applying the brakes.so the acceleration occurred after applying the brakes.i was able to get the car to a stop and put it into park without hitting the car in front of me.i turned off the ignition immediately after stopping and had the car towed to the dealership.i will not have an answer from them before monday.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. When he attempted to accelerate after fueling the fuel tank, the vehicle came tocomplete stop, without brake application. The vehicle did not stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. He was advised that the abs braking gear had fractured. The vehicle was serviced at a local mechanic shop. The current and failure mileages were 36000.

New vehicle purchase in orlando, fl on 09-07-07. Took to local ford dealer in memphis, tn on 09-10-07 with issue of vehicle pulling and steering wheel vibration when braking, (1300 miles on vehicle). Ford said the rotors were glazed and warped, (ford service employees unable to explain how or why this occurred with only 1300 mile on vehicle). Ford resurfaced rotors,(ford stated they are only required to resurface rotors, not replace them under warranty). Ford did not replace brake pads or do any other brake job associated repair/replacement. Rotors were resurfaced with over half usable brake surface removed. I explained to ford that with so much brake surface gone the next time the rotors are serviced, the rotors will most certainly need to be replaced at owners expense. (this repair has eliminated the first resurfacing option for the consumer).

In attempting to slow down our company's 2007 ford explorer i inadvertently pressed both the brake pedal and gas pedal at the same time with the same foot, causing the vehicle to speed up instead. I have previously experienced this in a rental ford crown victoria. There was no accident, and there were no injuries, other than a brief panic attack. My solution wasnot drive the company's vehicle, but instead drive my own chevrolet.

Sudden loss of power steering assist resulting in near crashthis has now happened again on march 15 2013 at 55 mph and is continuing. I am no longer feeling safe to drive the car.

The truck swerves and maneuvers to each other side especially on the expressway. This has almost let me to numerous car accidents on the expressway its drives and slides whichever way it wants and i have no control over it.

There is a new design to have the interior door handle at the top of the door panel.it is very close to the steering column.the paint that is on the handle is chipping off due to watches and jewelry rubbing it. This looks tacky.it is a brand new vehicle and is already showing scratches and wear.

Back window flipped open while driving 15 mph in a parking lot.went to close it and the hinge cracked so the window was hanging by one hinge.using all my strength i was able to push the window up (extremely difficult given the pump) and close it, although not secure.the window is very heavy and held by a plastic hinge that completely snapped.this is a problem cited in earlier models, and apparently ford did not rectify the issue.plastic is not strong enough to hold heavy glass.

While driving 15mph, i heard a loud noise from the back of the vehicle. Upon examination, after i pulled over, i found the rear window on the liftgate hanging by only the lift supports. The plastic hinges that are supposed to hold the window in place seem to be corroded and cracked in the middle. If someone had been standing there when it happened or if i had been driving on the expressway, someone could have been greatly injured.

Another 10 miles before parking the vehicle for the night.next morning(sat) called our local dealer to see if they could get it in to look at it.service states that the sway bar is loose and that two of the 5 bolts that hold the wheel in place on the driver's side rear were sheared off. Car is at the garage now and they gave me a loaner to use while it iis being repaired.it was in for service about a month ago and the u-joint was replaced and a couple of other issues were fixed all under the extended warranty that was purchased when we purchased the vehicle.the only other time that i know of that the driver rear tires was off was back in may of this year when it had a complete brake job at another local service provider.so far the service dept at the dealer has been good and they have treated me well as far as getting a loaner vehicle etc....but i am concerned that this could be a safety issue for others.if i had not brought this in to be looked at, we could have very easily been involved in an accident had the wheel snapped off on us.that is scary to think about.we are very lucky to not have that happen to us.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact was driving approximately 45 mph when the contact noticed that the vehicle road performance was extremely poor. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to determine the cause of failure. The dealer replaced the four tires at the manufactures expense. Recently, the contact stated that the tires exhibited premature wear and stated that the tires would need to be replaced again after only riding on them for eighteen months. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. The consumer has purchased three sets of tires. Updated 04/29/11

Car was parked and upon returning to vechicle attempted to shift from park to drive.brake was engaged, brake lights were on had difficulty shifting, could not get the vehicle in drive.after about 3 attempts, it worked.called dealer on the following monday since this was a sat. However, i am very disappointed that i needed to "jump through hoops" to get this accomplished.i believe that the dealership should have worked with ford on my behalf to get this taken care of.about 6 months prior to this there were front end and wheel issues with this vehicle.

2007 ford explorer with original factory tires. Approximately may or early june 2008 my vehicle low tire pressure light came on. I discovered a cracked valve stem causing leak.dealer repaired and attempted to file road hazard claim.no paperwork, exact date or mileage available. Approximately aug 08, 2008 low pressure indicator again came on. Discovered another cracked stem leaking air on a different tire. Vehicle mileage was approximately 34,700.repaired at dealer on aug 09 2008 for a fee. Invoice available.on sept 30, 2008 i read news report about dill valve stem issue (nhtsa action number : pe08036). Inspected tires - anddiscovered same splitting of valve stems as depicted in news article and dill air controls web site on the other two remaining original equipment tires.dealer replaced both valve stems and replaced for a fee. Removed valve stems with no additional damage and returned to me. Invoice available as well as defective valve stems. Spare tire visually inspected and found no visible defects on stem. Spare is mounted under vehicle with valve facing up against underbody protecting stem from elements.ford statement to news media indicates that ford's position is that their original equipment is not subject to same issue.i believe they have the same issue. I find that all 4 original equipment valve stems exhibited same cracking defect as dill recall. Stems replaced on oct 01,2008 show 07 tr414 030 and 08 tr414 018 and both have a triangular logo.as all 4 stems were replaced, the only original valve cap i have came from the spare tire and displays "topseal" ,the numbers 317 and 630 and what appears to be the same triangular logo as is on the valve stems.i have the two most recent replaced valve stems and the cap from the factory spare in my possession as well as photos of both (numbers and damage)that can be forwarded electronically if needed.

Tire pressure and sensor warning keeps popping on. When car is put in reverse there is a jolt that happens from time to time. Especially when parked.rpm's rile up but car seems not to be able to move. Takes about 3 tries.

Valve stems on 2 tires leaking without any notice causing tire to go flat.two times within the last 12 days on two different tires.upon review of the stem air leaks from the stem when moving/pushing on it to certain locations.

Tire valve failed causing the tire to lose air.

Tire valve stems failed eventually on all 5 tires. Gradually on each tire over time and sometimes at highway speeds. 1 tire was ruined and had to be replaced with half it's tread life left.i did replaced all valve stems at my expense. Total $140.00 1 new tire 5 stems. I feel ford should have notified me of the defect for the safety of my family and me. I was not notified by ford of the stem valve failure. I purchased the vehicle at a ford dealer used in 2009.

While the vehicle was parked in a church parking lot, i had just exited the driver's door and it was still open, the tailgate window exploded

Rear lift gate glass shatterduring the time of this incident my vehicle had been parked in my driveway, on a county road for 12 days. All windows were rolled up the full duration of that time.the tempuraters ranged from the mid 70s to mid 90s.while parked it was detected that the rear lift gat gate glass had shattered. There were no objects found in or around the vehicle that could have either been thrown, his against or fallen into the window causing this damage. There appeared to be approximately the same amount of glass outside of the vehicle as was inside.a report has been filed with the local sheriff department and is on file.

While driving the car just cut off. No warning .

While vehicle was stationary/parked, back lift gate glass exploded. This happened on december 26, 2015. After having it professionally replaced, it again exploded while parked on january 29, 2016.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle was not able to accelerate and stalled. The contact mentioned that the wrench and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic, who diagnosed that the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,200.

Vehicle started loosing coolant then developed condition where inreverse or drive it would jump like you floored it. Condition has gotten significantly worse to where car will not go into drive, but will just rev up to approx 4000 rpms.

We had just purchased a new 2007 ford explorer, had only been driving it for three weeks, we'd hadn't even made our first payment yet.we were at a stop at a traffic light in bumper-to-bumper traffic, when the explorer took off by itself.by this, i mean both of my husband's feet were firmly on the brake pedal and the explorer started surging forward by itself.to avoid colliding with the truck in front of us, he turned the vehicle to go down between the two lanes, and scraped down the sides of other cars.the vehicle only finally stopped when my husband threw the vehicle in the park.there was vehicle damage to two vehicles.the vehicle was taken to the dealership where they performed comprehensive diagnostics and testing.they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle.we had supplied them with copies of 30-100 other formal complaints from consumers who had experienced similar surging in their explorers.they said there was nothing wrong with it and therefore would not be repairing anything.this is a very dangerous defect!we were lucky no one was injured and we are afraid to drive it in case it happens again.with the numerous other complaints, many service bulletins to ford, you would think there would be a recall or at least some other recourse besides "sorry, there's nothing wrong with it, have a nice day."

Driving vehicle on freeway and it lost power, rode rough and would only move about 5mph. Wrench light appears on the dashboard console. All other functions were normal. It would reverse but would not accelerate forward. Had to tow to dealer. Dealer turned on and said it was functioning. We had no warning about an issue before this happened before. We are concerned that it is a safety issue because it can stop without warning in dangerous traffic situations. We feel it is the electronic throttle body as many other people have experienced with their ford vehicles.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact was driving approximately 45 mph on normal road conditions and applied pressure to the accelerator pedal, followed by an unintended acceleration. The driver exerted excessive force to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the police radar detention contributed to the failure. The identical failures occurred on eight separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000. The vin was unavailable.updated 11/16/10. *ljupdated 12/14/2011updated 02/23/11

I was approaching a stop light intersection in my 2007 ford explorer.as i braked to stop, all of a sudden the vehicle on its own downshifted into a lower gear and accelerated pushing me into the intersection.an alert driver entering the intersection saw what was happening and stopped in time avoiding what could have been a serious accident.the only way i was able to safely drive the vehicle back home that day was to carefully put the transmission into neutral each time i wanted to slow down or stop.the dealership where i purchased it, was unable to diagnose and repair the problem.

Cannot drive safely at night with the heated windshield in my 2007 ford xlt explorer that i just purchased used today.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. While driving at 65 mph,the drivers side window shattered without warning. The police were contacted and advised that nothing had hit the window to cause it to shatter. The dealer stated they were aware of the failure but advised going through her insurance company for repairs. The vehicle was repaired through her insurance company. The failure mileage was 44,500 and the current mileage was 44,512.

While vehicle was stationary/parked, back lift gate glass exploded. This happened on december 26, 2015. After having it professionally replaced, it again exploded while parked on january 29, 2016.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. While driving at low speeds, the rear window exploded and caused glass to shatter throughout the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the weather was above freezing and the rear defroster was activated when the failure occurred. The contact sustained minor lacerations. The vehicle had not been diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer.the contact heard a rumbling noise whenever he rolled down the rear windows.while driving various speeds with the windows down, the vehicle vibrates severely.the dealer stated that there was a design defect, but could not repair the vehicle.the failure mileage was 34,012.

The visor on the driver side, the mirror assembly has separated from the visor and on the passenger side the cover of the mirror assembly has snapped.the passenger side mirror is rarely used since a passenger is rarely in the seat.the clips holding the driver side mirror assembly snapped off and the only thing holding the mirror on is the feed line for the mirror lamp.

On april 25, 2011 at a approximately 10 am, my wife and i were traveling in our 2007 explorer going southbound on rt 5 passing stockton ca.i was driving; my wife was in the front passenger seat. We were in the middle lane of this 3 lane highway in moderate 75 mph traffic and aboutmile north of exit #473when suddenly and without any previous warning (such as the way a vehicle handles when a tire is going flat or a wheel is coming loose), there was a loud bang accompanied by high vibration and a loud rumbling noise like a tire blowout.the noise and vibration lasted a second or so, then stopped for a second or so, then resumed again for another second or so after which the vibration stopped and the loud rumbling noise was replaced by a loud steady scraping/grinding noise.i gotonto the shoulder of the highway in about 15 seconds.during this i had no significant difficulty in steering or controlling the explorer.the passenger side rear wheel had come off. All 5 lug bolts were fractured through and all but their short portions that are threaded into the hub, were missing. A long skid mark from the #2 lane over to the shoulder was done by the rear wheel's stabilizer frame and associated linkages having been scrapedover the pavement.the last time the lug bolts and lug nuts on this wheel were removed and reinstalled was over 8,000 miles ago when the brakes were inspected. The torques on the lug nuts on the remaining 3 wheels were now measured and found to be per explorer shop manual specifications.i am concerned about the safety of the lug bolts in other vehicles that have similar lug bolts from the same batch as in mine. I have the hub with the portions of the fractured lug bolts still threaded into it, and it is available for examination by nhtsa if that will help in determining if a more widespread lug bolt safety issue exists.

My husband noticed a squeaking noise when driving. It got worse after aroad trip and we isolated the noise as coming from the rear passenger side. We investigated further and discovered only one lug nut was holding the tire on, and 2 of the pins had sheared completely off. We immediately had the vehicle towed to the mechanic. We ended up having to replace the entire axle. After chatting about the issue at work i discovered a coworker had the exact same thing happen with his 2005 explorer but his wheel actually fell off causing $5,000 in damage to his vehicle (no injuries or accident). Is it possible there is some defect?

In may of 2015 while i was driving, the left rear wheel fell off.now on april 5, 2016 while my wife was driving, the right front wheel fell off.two wheels falling off in a period of less than one year.in my mind this is not a coincidence.it is a dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer. The contact stated that while driving at 75 mph, the steering wheel began shaking and contact was unable to turn wheel. The contact stopped on the emergency lane and the front passenger side wheel fell off. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who stated that the lug nuts came off, and was possibly due to someone not adjusting them appropriately. The failure recurred and the front driver side wheel moved unsteadily, and almost came off. The contact stated that the lug nuts came off again. The dealer has not inspected the vehicle for the recent failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The current mileage was 123,000. The failure mileage was 80,000.
