Takata inflators .the airbag light stays on in the morning when i start truck. Is this a dangerous situation ?

Ford sport trac explorer was t boned on the passenger side of the truck. The truck spun and rolled hard onto the drivers side. No passengers were in the truck at the time and would explain why the passenger side air bags did not deploy, due to the subsequent roll onto the drivers side and the extent of the damage to the drivers side as a result of the rollover i don't understand why the side impact airbags failed to deploy on the drivers side. The truck is a write-off per my insurance company. I contacted ford customer relations about my concerns and seeking reassurance that this was not a isolated problem or indeed an issue that would go unnoticed. While the customer relations person was sympathetic she could offer no more help other than to advise me to contact my local ford dealer.i spoke with ford dealer, service manager and he said he was not aware of problems concerning the airbags. The truck is currently in the possession of my allstate insurance company in a yard somewhere in memphis tn.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac. The contact stated the tire monitoring sensor, check engine and doom lights illuminated on the instrument panel while driving approximately 35 mph. The contact stated there was an electrical failure occurring within the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed the ignition core was faulty. The dealer replaced the ignition core, but two months later the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer but the dealer could not remedy the failure. The contact stated this was a safety issue because the doom light and alarms turn on at night. The failure mileage was 103,000.

I have two 2007 ford one is a freestyle and the other is a sport trac and they are having the same problem. The inside lights come on and off by themselves. They stay on for a few minutes then they click back off then back on and off again. The freestyle does not have a auto switch for the lights but the sport trac does. It happens all the while that you are driving which in the state of texas if the inside lights are on while driving you can get a ticket.

Dome light turns on and off intermittently when driving.often occurs when driving over rough road or in turn.will turn off if (any) door is opened and closed or if the key is "jiggled"

Intermittent fan speed for hvac on my vehicle 2007 ford explorer sport trak.then it would operate normally forawhile.then had a repair done at dealership and replaced thefollowing part #6l2z-19e624-a from ford.

Stopped to get fuel and truck would not start. Engine would turn over, but would not start. I had vehicle towed to the ford dealership. Told by the ford service manager that itwas the fuel control module located by the rear spare tire and they have replaced many of them. The ford dealership confirmed it and replaced the fuel control module. My cost $386.93. We had purchased a extended motor vehicle service agreement (national protection plan, inc.) from capital ford in madison, wi. We were told when we purchased the policy it was a bumper to bumper and the company will not stand behind policy.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac.on march 7, 2007, the contact discovered the vehicle engulfed in flames.he noticed the flames originating from the hood of the vehicle.the fire department diagnosed the cause of failure to be electrical.the dealer declined to retrieve the vehicle and stated that the contact was responsible for having it towed.national grange mutual insurance company retrieved the vehicle and is currently conducting an investigation.the contact was given case # 1591851007 and possesses pictures and slides of the vehicle.the current mileage is unknown and failure mileage was 7,800.

Pulling into traffic traction control engages in dry conditions, taking all acceleration power away. Traction indicator on dash lights up, unable to disengage with traction button. Vehicle does not stall, however there is little to no power to accelerate to appropriate driving speed.brakes also engage anti-lock.there is no warning, except when you commit to accelerating, both instances occurred from a stop sign, about 4 minutes after starting to drive the vehicle..vehicle drives fine for roughly 4 minutes, then at a stop light it starts this problem and continues for several seconds, or minutes before going away. In both instances traction control was not needed, both times i would call the traction on the road excellent, meaning i couldn't spin the tires if i tried to.. I was not accelerating heavily, light to moderate acceleration from a stop sign. While it was acting up i would try both, light, heavy and even tap the brakes to try and get the car out of thinking that there is no traction.very close to having a side impact accident because the vehicle did not give me the power to cross traffic from a stop. Imagine driving on ice, except there is no ice, and are half way in an intersection trying to limp out of the way.bad feeling.i've lost all confidence crossing traffic at stop signs.second time incident has happened.after 2-4 minutes car drives normal.

Right rear directional light and hazard light are not working. Replaced bulb and socket 4 times within a year. The left directional/hazard light does illuminate.

Water/moisture in sunroof motor assembly causing at first a short enabling sunroof to operate own it's own power, then upon removing assembly an oily water mixture began dripping out causing full breakdown.rust was on mechanical wheel &white ( dry) spots on computer board. Excessive metal shavings on metal rods that operate sunroof. No sign of water / moisture entry into assembly, unit was excessively hot to touch from direct sun on roof of vehicle. Pictures are available.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be diagnosed or replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

Initial complaint was gas mileage. 12 mpg in town and 12 mpg on the highway. Dealer found no problem. Mileage continued to deteriorate, down to 7 in town and 12 on highway. This is a v6 2 wheel drive auto. Then the transmission would not shift out of park, this happened several times and i took the car in again and complained about the gas mileage and transmission problems. Dealer called and said i had 2 bad sensors on the car and could get it the next day. Customer service called 2 days later and told my wife that they had " fried" the cpu in the car. It's been almost 10 days in the shop and no repairs. Dealer says they have to have a new computer made for the car and that all cpu are " special" , not something they can get everyday. This unit controls everything on this car, if it was "fried" what did it do to the sensors on the car?

2007 ford explorer sport trac.after being parked for a week, i attempted to start the vehicle and it would not respond.all other electrical equipment worked properly.diagnoses by the dealer determined that the instrument cluster had failed.if this had occurred while driving, it would have resulted in the vehicle engine failing.the consequences of this on a full freeway or other heavy traffic situation could be loss of control of the vehicle (no power steering) or stoppage in a traffic lane and exposure to a possible collision.there is no way to temporarily bypassing the failed system so that the vehicle could be moved to a safe location.

Computer shifting and mileage issue.

Advancetrac rsc system activated on dry road surface for no cause - causing disabled transmission line/no power to wheels & reduced engine power and resulting in emergency pullover in high speed traffic situation. Ford service unable to find cause - can not duplicate.

The truck has been leaking coolant. The mechanic finally found the problem. The intake on the manifold is plastic. It gets overheated on the metal manifold and cracks which causes coolant to leak. We've spent over $1000 getting repairs. Still leaks due to that one faulty part.everything i've read indicates that ford is aware of the problem but has taken no steps to correct it. They did claim that reprogramming the thermostat settings was all it needed but that is not true.

My car stall intermittently over the last few years. Seems to be when i break. I understand this has been happening with a lot of ford vehicles and should be looked into.

Passenger side exhaust manifold bolts have broken at 65k miles. After researching this seems to be a known problem ford has avoided recalling. I easily found 25 plus cases of explorer sporttrac owners with the 4.6 v8 reporting this exact problem. Ford charges over 3k to fix what seems to be a faulty design that happens on the majority of these vehicles.

I noticed while driving my 2007 ford explorer sport trac that something was wrong with the engine.i thought it might be the transmission, because when accelerated it would become sluggish and make a loud roaring noise. The temperature light came on for about 8 seconds and the temperature gauge went to the top for about the same amount of time.then the light went off and the gauge went back to normal. Then engine sound and speed appeared to be normal.

Issue feb 2018 - presenti bought my 2nd- hand 2007 ford sport trac in february 2018, from the original owner.we had experienced 2 cat-five hurricanes; power and internet was almost nonexistent, so i could not research the truck. On the second day after my purchase, while driving down a street at about 30 mph, it stalled.i had very little breaks and no steering. When i tried to crank it, it would turn over but not fire.for the last two years, i have had no luck fixing the issue. Upon research, there are hundreds of blogs/ questions / attempts to repair from owners trying to fix the same issue.one blog said that it had been requested for ford to do a recall, but ford denied that there was an issue. It may drive great for 3 weeks and then when you are driving straight down a steep, curvy mountain in traffic, it turns off with no way to stop quickly or control the steering. If you drive too slowly or someone pulls in front of you and drives 5 miles an hour, it will stop. If you punch the gas pedal to get out of the way of a dangerous situation, it will often stall.sometimes it won't drive, and then it surges forward. It often sounds like the fuel is running rich. You never know when it will happen so you are always in danger. I have changed out the starter switch, shift linkage, just about every sensor, pump, filter, wiring, egr valve, throttlebody' another original owner on island said he's ready to drive his off of a cliff after dealing with this problem for three years. His truck is a 2010 i believe. I checked back with him recently. He changed out his computer system and it is now running properly for the moment. I can't sell my truck bc my ethics won't allow it. I can't trash it bc i need to sell it to buy another.i bought the truck to be safe. It has done nothing but placed me in danger and depleted my wallet.

(year 2011 to 2013 all this happened lemon) the wheel bearings went on the vehicle...had to have all three replaced...both front ...one drivers side back. It wasn't the tires because they were brand new.( $2.100 including labor)the mechanic stated that never should have happened. This seems to be an on going problem with sport tracs ...i am to have the right rear passenger side done soon ...no one has over $700...to put towards a vehicle in this day and age with the economy the way it is. This sport trac has been with so many issues to do with wheels, transmission (one month in the repair shop, reverse and drive gone on the tranny( $6897.65), radiator (replaced 3x due to rupture of the, cooling and heating system $1017.), hoses breaking ($200)...no wonder they quit making them total pain in the keester and very hard on the pocket book. It is paid for and is mine that is the only reason i keep it.i cannot afford to get another vehicle...but i will never buy another ford again.their service says it all...it is horrible. Since purchasing this vehicle i have spent $10,903.65 in repairs. The truck is very hard on tires...i don't squeal my tires but i travel 70 to and from daily for work..every year baby needs new rubber boots. $689.not fair in all essence the vehicle is only 6 yrs old. I have had better and it certainly wasn't a ford. You can share this with them if you like because they need to see that their service department did nothing for me and i took it to acute auto care for my transmission etc.

Ok where can i start besides that i've come to hate my truck i have spent thousands of dollars fixing it constantly first off light in the car go on and off while driving whenever you hit a bump than i get random little leaks all the time and had my transmission worked on a year ago because it was messed up and here it goes again i don't know what the [xxx] is wrong with it but sometimes i swear i just wanna throw the [xxx] car off a bridge every other day there's another problem not my ac has stopped working i was drinking home from the gym yesterday morning at a red light he car shut off locked my steering wheel locked my doors locked my brake started beeping on my dash wouldn't let me do anything that's dangerous it was a major road with the light just turning green i'm stuck can't even put it in neutral and roll it out of the intersection i turned it off and turned it off drove it home woke up next morning found something leaking drove to work not its having problems shifting i'm so done with this truck.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My ford explorer 2007 has very low mileage (56,000 miles).its engine started to shut off intermittently under all types of conditions, streets and highways. It was indeed very dangerous.indeed my daughter, driving this car, had an accident on sept. 4, precisely because of the engine shut off. Fortunately it happened in a stop-and-go traffic which did not result in any injury. I hate to think of consequences of this happening in fast moving traffic.my research showed that this problem is very common for these autos, and it seems that it is not taken care of.after having my mechanics check every conceivable problem, i was referred to the ford dealership.their diagnosis determined the internal pcm failure to be the cause.it turned out that this part is believed to be defective because of its design, and a new one is developed which is on back order. I was lucky to find a new part and had it shipped to southern california and installed. I hope the problem is resolved. It cost me $1,546.41, which i do not think i should have paid especially with such low mileage.i think this is a case of bad/defective design of the pcm, which is also a safety problem and i think the ford company should have recalled and replace this part freeof charge.

Without any indication why, the temperature indicator began to rise and the engine became rather loud.no indicator (idiot lights) lights came on at all. Pulled over to check the engine, left the engine running and the heat indicator returned to normal immediately. Started to drive and the same issue started again.this time i pulled over and shut the engine down completely. Restarted the engine 2~3 mins later, which appears to have re-set the system, as i have not have a similar problem since.

As cited by other readers, ford has placed ht-1 ceramic plugs in the explorer series which are very expensive. These plugs constantly develop stress cracks and break during replacement, requiring a special tool to remove them. When they break (2~3 on average), be ready to pay additional charges to cover the extra time needed for removal/clean-out by the mechanic. Something needs to be done by ford to replace these plugs.

Purchased 2007 expl sp tracin april 2008 from academy ford laurel, md (19k mi).radiator leak and replacement in may 2011 (38.5k mi).radiator leaking again at 59k mi.

Spark plugs may be contributing to a skip under load. However, ford has used some unusual spark plug that is a serious problem for end users to either change themselves or extraordinarily expensive for the consumer to have changed by ford. Ford service quote is $300.00 to have changed. This is a terrible design and engineering screw up that is ridiculous. Ford needs to step up and admit they have a poor design and not keep charging customers for their mistake.

Radiator is leaking coolant. Coolant leaks the from aluminum core, pools up at the bottom in the plastic and drips out from the bottom of the plastic on both the driver and passenger side. Talked to ford about the issue and they said there was a tsb issued for this (which i realize does not extend the warranty) and that when the truck was made, the fan that cools the radiator was not programmed correctly.it wouldn't run when it necessarily needed to or for as long as it needed to which is causing the radiator to overheat and the aluminum to separate at the seam...thus causing a coolant leak and leading to the vehicle overheating. Unfortunately, the only fix was just to replace the radiator with an "updated" radiator and have the programming updated for the fan to function like it should have in the first place. (not sure i agree with paying a lot of money to fix something that should have worked properly in the first place.)

I had misfires on cylinder 7, tried to replace plugs had four break in manifold, found that speciality tool had to be bought to replace plugs that break, also found that ford service was well aware of problems with plugs and they charge extra to remove and replace broken plugs. Ford engineered a faulty product and because the ntsb has not slapped their hands they will not make any amends to their customers for replacement of plugs. Something should be done to make them replace the plugs for a non defective part.

On 8/10/10 i noticed while driving my 2007 ford explorer sport trac that something was wrong with the engine.i thought it might be the transmission, because when accelerated it would become sluggish and make a loud roaring noise.i called the ford dealership and asked for an appointment to bring my truck in.they suggested i bring it on the morning of 8/11/10 for them to check it out.around noon on 8/11/10the service manager called me to inform me that the problem was not my transmission, but that i had a leak in the radiator.he also said that he has had several of the same type vehicles come in to his shop with the same issue with their radiators.he suggested that they remove the radiator and take it to a repair shop to see if it could be repaired.on 8/12/10 the service manager phoned me to tell me that the radiator could not be repaired due to more than one leak in the radiator.he advised me not to purchase a non factory made radiator and suggested that i allow him to order one from the dealership and replace my defected one.on 8/13/10 i was able to pick up my truck after paying $583.05 for a new radiator $15.52 for a new cap and $14 for anti freeze, not to mention the $75 for the cost of labor.on 8/17/10, i phoned nhtsa to see if there had been a recall on the radiator that i never received.no recalls have been issued at this time, but there have been other complaints from this same model vehicle with radiator issues.i was told to call ford and issue a formal complaint by phone.i did this and was given a ref # [xxx].i would like for there to be an investigation and if possible a recall issued for owners of this same type vehicle.i would also like some reimbursement for the expense i was out getting a new radiator for my vehicle.from what i understand, these radiators could have been defective at the time of assembly.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns 2007 ford explorer sport trac.the contact stated the thermostat that controls the temperature in the vehicle malfunctioned. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the thermostat and was advised there was no related recall.the contact stated the air conditioner also functioned sporadically at times during hot weather.the contact stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the extreme heat. The failure mileage was 85,000.

The vehicle leaking fluid from the radiator. Causing engine to run hot. Also the lumbar in the drivers seat explodes pushing you in to the steering wheel while driving.

At approximately 40000 miles i notice a leak in the radiator on the lower left side.the dealer service department informed me that they had seen a number of these and that it was leaking on a seam and that it needed to be replaced at a cost of over $500.i had them order a replacement and it is due to be replaced 03/29/2010.if this is known to happen why is there no partly to full coverage for a defective item?

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac.she stated that she noticed rust inside the engine compartment, and the drive shaft mechanism.she also noticed rust under all the seats of the vehicle.the dealer stated that this was surface rust due to the corrosive environment.they also stated this is a normal occurrence for new vehicles manufactured by ford.the dealer instructed the contact she could wipe the rust off using a towel.the failure mileage was 360 and the current mileage was 700.

Engine shuts off during slowing for turn or stop causing loss of power steering and power brakes. This has almost caused an accident several times.dealer says they can not repair and can not duplicate problem. Dealer does not take the problem seriously. I belong to a sport trac club and other 2007 sport tracs have this problem.

On may 4, 2017 i was at a red light on a very busy highway when the vehicle's engine just shut off. Check engine light came on and another wrench symbol light came on. I got it started again but was very slow accelerating and within a few feet it stopped accelerating even when pressing on the gas all the way.i was stuck trying to coast through a very busy intersection until i could get it in a parking lot.it would restart but would not accelerate and then engine was shaking. Then wouldn't start at all. I had to call someone to pick me up and then a tow service to have it towed to a mechanic shop. The repair shop called and informed me that it was running but the check engine light was still on and it gave a computer code for a bad throttle body motor. They informed me after researching that is a common and dangerous occurence with my vehicle type so they replaced the throttle body motor. This had happened before in october of 2016 on a road trip the truck just stopped running while i was driving down a highway and i was stranded on the side of the road for 30 minutes until it finally started running again. The check engine light stayed on for several days after that.

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the fuel pump driver module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Complete failure of the fuel pump control module (driver) due to exensive corrosion that breached the component housing, leading to electrical shorting that melted the electrical connection terminal.this is clearly an engineering / assembly flaw because corrosion should be anticipated when bolting zinc parts to steel frame members (without a di-electric barrier) installed in an area, subject to direct contact with water & road salt, when being sold in north american climates.

I was getting off the highway after traveling approx 10 miles @ 70-80 mph. As i slowed the vehicle and moved onto the on ramp at approx 55 mph encountered a slight bump due to road surface change and my vehicle's hood suddenly released. Luckily the hood latch caught the hood and prevented it from slamming up to the windshield but it was a very unsettling moment and i am afraid that it may happen again. There was no reason the hood should have released. This could have been deadly if it had happened at a higher rate of speed where the latch could have also failed.

Truck is slipping when shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear-known ford transmission issue. The dealer said to replace the transmission as a better one is offered

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac. The contact noticed power steering fluid leaking in the carport. He had to add power steering fluid every two weeks. While driving and making turns, there was an abnormal clunking noise emerging from the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that there were recalls on the vehicle. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v1812000 (steering). The failure mileage was 136,000.

Vehicle is slipping when shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. The vehicle only has 118,000 miles.

I brought my '07 sportrac with 73,800 miles to the ford dealer to troubleshoot a check engine light and the wrench light, which it displayed for a few minutes and disappeared. After some troubleshooting 2 hrs later, the guy came out and gave me some bad news. I will need to repair my transmission or replace it. He did tell me a new transmission would not be from ford since they don't make those anymore and would be from another maker. The above lights started showing this winter as it got colder and that's when i started to noticed rough idling with the rpm indicator spiking for a few minutes then it would go back to a normal reading. I guess some transmission part was acting up at that point. It also seem like if i let it warm up during startup a few minutes, i usually don't see it rpm spike.the dealer told me during their checks there was yet another coolant leak but apparently it wasn't serious enough to note in the final paperwork. I told him i needed to think about the transmission repairs or replacement. I paid for the diagnostics ($100) and got my ford estimates.

Ford sports trac 07, 8 cylinder. Automatic, 44000.it began around 20000.when one comes to a stop, the 4 wheel drive or transmission kicks in and the vehicle jumps and slams into gear.it appears to be getting worse the more i drive it.also, a lot of blind spots.

Transmission jerks forward when i'm slowing down to stop. This occurs as my transmission down-shifts from either 3rd to 2nd gear or 2nd to 1st gear. It is a significant problem. It lunges my car forward when i'm braking to stop. And hesitates when taking off from a dead stop and the transmission slams into first making a large thumping noise. I have read many reviews on this problem and a lot of people are experiencing this problem.

Dt*: the contact stated upon initial acceleration, the automatic transmission shifted roughly into second gear.additionally, when either the second row passenger window was open while driving various speeds, there was a loud wind vibration that circulated throughout the vehicle.it was inspected by a dealer who duplicated the automatic transmission problem, but was unable to determine the exact cause.also, the dealer determined that was the way the windows were designed, and if the problem persisted, it was instructed not to open the windows while driving.the manufacturer was not alerted.

Transmission has shifted hard from day one of our purchase. Put the truck in the shop and the couldn't find the problem. Took it in again and this time the said that the computer needed to be re-set. Truck ran and shifted perfectly for about a month. Took it back in again this time the downloaded a fix from ford. Problem went away and was very pleased. Took the truck to california on vacation and within 300 miles it started up again. Truck shifts hard from the start, lunges, sometimes it won't shift into high gear unless you back off of the gas. I have been in the shop with problem for over a year now and i get the same response form the dealer. Ford hasn't come up with a fix yet. But if you notice they have gone back to there 5 speed transmissions for the 2008 year model.

Transmission surges when downshifting when braking.

2007 ford explorer sport trac (2wd) at complete stop. Rear ended by a ford focus at about 40mph. Impact caused the sport trac seats to recline from an upright position to 45 degrees backwards/reclining), went into "park" and engine "shut off" automatically!

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac.the contact stated that the vehicle failed to go in reverse on the first attempt.when the vehicle eventually went in reverse, the rpm's began to rev.the vehicle experienced low brake pressure.the emergency brake was applied in order to stop the vehicle.there were no warning indicators.the contact smelled something burning, opened the hood, and noticed smoke rising.the vehicle remained parked for an hour and was able to be driven.the following day, the rpm's began to rev up again and the vehicle was towed.the vehicle was diagnosed as needing a new transmission.the vehicle has not been repaired.the purchase date and a valid vin were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 4,400.

2007jun 08explorer sport trac limited v6* automatic transmission* 8,000 miles"i have a problem with my doors freezing shut. Water run along the rubber seal & freezes in cold weather or pools when it rains. Last week all doors were froze. When i finally got in, there was an inch of ice in both bottom back door wells & 12" to 14" icicles hanging in the hinges in both front doors. The dealer says this is normal, does anyone else have this problem? i have taken it to my dealer, bert wolfe ford, charleston, wv 3 times. I've talked to other people in my area, theirs doesn't do this. One lady actually went to bert wolfe with me on a rainy day to show hers did not have this issue. Jamie six, service manager said, "ed @ water doctor said they couldn't do anything else to fix it, they all do this." i told jamie i didn't buy it from ed. I have also contacted ford since i went through the channels, 2 years & no resolution. I wonder who will fix the rubber & rust once the warranty is up?

Transmission jumps into first and second gears from start.engine surges and causes vehicle to jump.no good idea when going through military gate entrances.transmission hesitates when taking off.transmission makes loud noise when you stop.feels like someone crashes into vehicle.action not safe for rush-hour freeway driving or any driving when you must drive slow.such, as in ice and snow. Dealer tried to fix, but stated was factory defect and than ford was working on the problem with a modification.problem no evident when vehicle is hot rodded.but safe for average drivers.after almost hitting a marine guard at camp pendledton, i no longer drive the vehicle on base during rush hours or when there are formations for fear of hitting marchers.

I have had my 2007 sportrac 8 cyl. For 1-1/2 years. Every morning when i start my vehicle, i must wait a full thirty seconds or more before i can put the car in gear. If i do it sooner, then the engine will rev, but the vehicle will not move. If i rev the engine to 6,000 rpm it will budge a bit. I have taken it in twice for this and the dealer says there is nothing wrong. Additionally, i am only getting about 9.5 mpg, and i feel it may be because of this transmission issue.

Computer control for the automatic trans. Malfunctions causing uneven shifts and engine revs to the rev limiter on the highway. Lasts a couple of days until the check engine light illuminates and then it shifts normally. Check engine light goes off after a couple of days and the trans. Shifts normally for about a week until the cycle starts again without warning. Happened when merging into traffic and the trans disengaged causing the engine to hit the rev limiter and almost got hit from behind. Have had this happen on and off since the truck was new but it's becoming more common now.

Driving at approx. 25-30 mph.applied brakes at light but wheels keep spinning.shove automatic gear shift to neutral, then into park.cut off ignition, start up again and things are ok.this is the 2nd time this has happened in the last 2 months.the consequences are that i could hit a pedestrian or rear end a car, or wind-up in an intersection where cars are moving.will contact dealer next week.

2007 sport trac,v8 with 6 speed transmission, 2-wheel drive.when attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle at times is slow to respond.the engine revs but you do not move as fast as you should when pulling into traffic.several times i've manually downshifted the transmission to first or second gear to obtain proper acceleration.this is a very dangerous situation when pulling into traffic.the problem is intermittent so you have no idea when it's going to happen.the transmission has the characteristics of low transmission fluid level.the transmission does not downshift to the proper lower gear and therefore tries to accelerate while in high gear which accounts for the slow acceleration and high rev.i've brought my vehicle in three times to two different dealerships for this problem and both state they can not duplicate the problem.again, this is intermittent.the dealership said they checked transmission fluid and it was full.would like to know how they were able to do this since this is a sealed transmission -- you can't check the fluid level.i know of three other people with the same transmission problems and both local dealerships gave the same response saying they do not know what's wrong with the transmission therefore; they can not fix the problem.if i know of three people with the same problem and there are so many other complaints on this page about the transmission, then there must be something wrong.bottom-line, a problem exists with the 6-speed automatic transmission and ford (or alt least the dealerships) refuses to acknowledges it.

2007 sporttrac, started downshifting very rough when coming to a stop, took to freeport, il dealer who adjusted parts of the transmission, this made the downshifting much better for a few months, it is back now and worse than ever.you have to have your foot hard on the brake and don't stop very close to any vehicle or property in front of you.i learned hard way last week and hit a cement post with the front bumper, i had actually stopped maybe 6 inches from the post but the surge after stopped propelled me maybe 7-8", it is a very very dangerous situation.i went back to the dealer about a month ago and said the surge when downshifing was somewhat slightly back again, but my main concern then was that the car seemed like it was in 4 wheel drive continually, this was determined due to the sound and whining of gears, i was not in 4 wheel drive but it sounded like it, i bought new tires thinking as the dealer service person said, it might be the tires, it wasn't.now i have the sound and the dangerous surge.i'm going back to the dealer with appointment tomorrow.as i have read other complaints on the same downshift surge problem there definitely should be a recall for the defect issued by ford.this is my first complaint filing so don't know what else to say?

Truck sometimes stays in 1st gear for a longer than normal period of time. Also hesitates/jerks when accelerating in 1st gear.

-the contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac. The contact started the ignition. The gear selector would not shift form the park position. There were several attempts before the gear selector functioned properly. The failure occurred on one separate occasion. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the technician informed the vehicle operated normal. The vehicle had prior recall remedy repair involving a potential problem that would cause the vehicle to lock in the park position. The nhtsa campaign id number was unknown. The failure occurred a few weeks after the recall service repair was performed on the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 19,259.

2007 ford explorer sport trac (2wd) at complete stop. Rear ended by a ford focus at about 40mph. Impact caused the sport trac seats to recline from an upright position to 45 degrees backwards/reclining), went into "park" and engine "shut off" automatically!

The vehicle leaking fluid from the radiator. Causing engine to run hot. Also the lumbar in the drivers seat explodes pushing you in to the steering wheel while driving.

The brake pedal had become soft after 51,000 miles and a recent brake job. After calling the mechanic who did the job he said that the lines didnt need to bleed because the lines were never opened.

While crossing an intersection (eastbound) in my ford explorer on a dry, flat straight paved road (i was starting from a stop sign, whereas the street i was crossing has no stop sign for the north and southbound intersecting road) ... With my foot on the gas at a very slow speed (under 5 mph), the vehicles brakes engaged on their own after i was partially through the intersection, bringing my vehicle to a stop. My foot was solely on the gas pedal, and i was not applying the brakes.four dashboard warning lights then illuminated; including the (1) stability control, (2) the 4x4, (3) the abs and (4) the wrench. I applied the gas pedal further to try to get out of the intersection, but the brakes did not release. Then i took my foot off the gas and the brake released and the warning lights came off. This happened 3 times! i was then able to get out of the busy intersection with just the idle moving the vehicle forward.once out of the intersection i again pressed the gas pedal, and the brake engaged again, stopping the vehicle. After happening about another few times i was able to coast to the side of the road and there i left the vehicle.the vehicle was then brought to a local repair shop, who put the vehicle on a computer diagnostic device, and they determined that the brake sensor in the left front wheel was sensing a problem and automatically engaging the left front brake.i feel fortunate that i was not broad-sided by any oncoming vehicles when the faulty brake system brought my truck to a stop in the road intersection. Brake problem also happened the night before, but in that case i was driving in a residential neighborhood at about 30 mph and coasting as i approached a stop sign. When i applied the brakes, the brake pedal did not want to depress and then within a few seconds all the same 4 warning lights came on. The brake pedal made a sound similar to when abs deploys, but the brake pedal resisted going down; in fact the brake pedal barely moved.

No accident yet but....brakes on my vehicle are very soft.brake pedal when applied goes below the accelerator pedal.accelerator and brake pedal are very close to each other.unless operator is very careful to move right foot completelyover to brake pedal the proximity of the two pedals and the softness or amount of brake pedal travel below the accelerator, the operator presses the accelerator and the brake at the same time.no amount of pressure to the brakes will stop the vehicle because the harder the brake is pressed the more the accelerator is activated.i have personally come close to hitting vehicles ahead of me due to this condition.corrective action to release pedals and re locate foot on break is nearly impossible in stop many situations.i have returned this vehicle to a number of factory dealerships who advise brakes are within specifications.i have complained to customer service to only be told to take it to an authorized dealership.i have written the company. I am totally ignored.ford has to be very aware of toyota but ignores this perhaps identical situation.your next entry does not allow me to accurately identify a date because it happens on a regular basis since i purchase the vehicle new in 2007. I just picked a date.

I was at the yield sign at the feeder lane approaching the nasa bypass in webster, texas when i applied my brakes as another car was ahead of me and had stopped.instead of braking, my vehicle accelerated and i run into the rear of the car ahead.the cause of the problem is the design in the vehicle. The brake pedal when depressed is lower than the accelerator pedal and they are too close together. If the brake is not applied exactly right a person can unintentionally hit the accelerator pedal. The vehicle is a 2007 ford explorer sports trac truck.

The front disc brakes on my 2007 ford sporttrac makes a loud squealing noise when i apply my brakes.i took the vehicle to the ford dealer and was told that my brakes were in perfect condition. I am concerned about my safety when i apply the brakes.

Brand new ford escape hybrid 2007 year with 2000 miles on it. Was driving to work at 6 am and had total brake failure.fortunately there was no traffic at that time of day or there would have been a crash.pedal went right to the floor and nothing. Brake light came on.car towed to dealer later that morning. Brakes worked fine, no light on.they examined the computer records from the car and it did indicate a computer failure.ford is replacing that part but we are very concerned it will happen again, and very concerned that this is a life threatening recall-scale issue on this type of vehicle.

When applying brake, the pedal depresses too far and if my foot is not moved away from the gas pedal enough, both the gas pedal and brake get depressed together causing the vehicle to lurch forward.

I have a 2007 sport trac w/ 55k that recently developed a noise from the front engine that was noticeable at 45mph or higher.an inspection by a ford dealership has identified the driver's side.

Noticed clunking sound coming from right rear while going over speed bumps or pot holes. When it was raining the right tire would spin after hitting pot hole and the electronic skid control would flash on dash indicating lost traction. If this had been ice or snow i could of lost control of vehicle. The failure was the right rear control arm bushing.right tires were visibly worn more than the left side tires.dealer replaced rear control arm bushing. 45,000 miles and still under warranty.dealer has part.

Valve stem failure. Rapid deflation of tire. 2nd failure on this vehicle. 1st failure was 09/23/2008 on a different tire - vehicle not moving at the time.driving along at highway speed 50-60 mph, 30 degrees, 8:00 am est.low pressure warning indicator come on. Within a few minutes i feel truck handling change. I pull over into parking lot. I touch valve stem and here air escape.within 2 more minutes tire was completely deflated.

I have had to get three valve stems on my 2007 ford explorer sport trac replaced within 3 days. They were cracked and rotted.2007???? cracked and rotted??. At first i thought someone was cutting my valve stems on purpose. When the tire guy pulled to remove the old valve stem they split in half with hardly any force exerted on them. Now i find out that ford knows about this problem.. Unreal

2 oem valve stems have failed due to material defect. Both failed stems cracked at the on the stem enters the tire rim. These failures occurred on my 2007 ford explorer sport trac. All equipment is as delivered new from the factory.

In late august, 2008, i was involved in a single vehicle accident along interstate 64 between richmond and charlottesville, va due to sudden lose of air pressure in the left front tire of my 2007 ford explorer sport trac.i was able to maintain control of my vehicle and safely get to the side of the road without hitting other vehicles or injuring anyone.i had my car towed to a ford dealer in louisa, va.after being assured that i could drive the vehicle with the spare tire, i returned it to williamsburg ford, the original dealer. The tire andthe air pressure sensor had to be replaced at a cost to me of $365.58.on october 20, 2008, the air pressure warning light indicated another problem with tire pressure.i took the vehicle back to williamsburg ford.it was determined that the valve stem in the left rear tire was damaged and had to be replaced at a cost of $15.00.

I'm told by uhaul that they will not put a trailor on because of some previous accidents and lawsuits. Is this true?

Dt*: the contact stated upon initial acceleration, the automatic transmission shifted roughly into second gear.additionally, when either the second row passenger window was open while driving various speeds, there was a loud wind vibration that circulated throughout the vehicle.it was inspected by a dealer who duplicated the automatic transmission problem, but was unable to determine the exact cause.also, the dealer determined that was the way the windows were designed, and if the problem persisted, it was instructed not to open the windows while driving.the manufacturer was not alerted.

I have a heated windshield with little lines through it. I am experiencing a major amount of headlight and tail light glare. I was told to clean it with vinegar with no results. Yellow lens, no help. Ars eyeglass coating no help. I don't wear glasses. I have no problems in my husbands vehicle. Someone needs to check into this. They are dangerous.

In 2008 and then 2010 the front sealed wheel bearings assemblies have gone bad, requiring a wheel bearing kit by the dealer to fix the problem. Now in may~june 2012, the rear wheel bearing assembly is experiencing the same problem. Ford is aware of the issue in the explorer series, but doing nothing to fix the problem, other than charging you $700 per wheel ( $350 parts/ $350 labor) to fix the problem. Nice little operation the dealer/ford corp. Have going.other explorer owners i talked with have had the same problem.

The contact owns a 2007 ford explorer sport trac. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the rear passenger side wheel detached from the vehicle.
