Traveling at 55mph going east-a truck with trailer was traveling west carrying those large round hay bales one of the hay bales fell off. The hay bale hit the pavement right in front of me and i was unable to avoid hitting the bale. There is extensive frontal damage, windshield smashed in continued on top of my vehicle damaging the roof.the driver and passenger door did not open- i had to kick the passenger door several times to be able to get it open just enough to get out of the vehicle. None of my airbags deployed and my seatbelt did not lock up. I had my seatbelt on at time of crash but when vehicle was towed away to a body shop (i do not know yet if they are going to total it, some seem to think so) i asked the gentlemen why my airbags did not deploy, he said i should contact ford. I then asked him why my seatbelt did not lock up (i hit the steering wheel) he went over to the seatbelt-it was still pulled out some but he was able to pull it and it retracted back. He said i should contact ford about that as well. My concern is that i feel that my airbags should have deployed with this accident and i definitely think my seatbelt should of locked out. This issues has not been resolved because the insurance adjustor needs to make a decision as to whether they are going to fix this or total the vehicle. This is very concerning to me. I did not go to the hospital at the time of the accident but went later that night due to pain in my neck, chest, left hip and knee along with left thumb.
My drivers side window doesn't go up or down .also my passenger window is doing the same thing.i see there was a recall for window regulators for my truck.will i be able to get it recalled?
Tamara recall my front windows, drivers and passengers window regulator do not work, it is very unsafe to use vehicle like this, if i have a wreck and need to crawl out of window
Drove to work all appeared to be fine.after a 12 hours shift returned and vehicle would start; dead battery.replaced battery, as it was original, and all was fine.i remembered that during the week prior to this the driver's seat would not automatically adjust when the key was inserted into the ignition.this was around april 2014.all was fine until again i went to work, 12 hour shift, returned and there was no response upon inserting the key into the ignition.battery gauge needle did not respond and when the key was turned there was no response.a jump pack was connected to the battery and the vehicle was started without any problems.the vehicle was driven, started and stopped five times with no problems.as before, for the past week or two leading up to aug 5th, i noticed that the driver's seat would not automatically adjust when the key was inserted into the ignition or removed.the seat adjustment controls do work.on the morning of aug 6th the vehicle again would not start and it appears that there in not sufficient charge on the battery.(battery gauge had shown that it was being charged)i did hear a constant clicking sound which i found to be coming from the power distribution box under the hood.it appeared to be coming from the fuse or relay that is in the spot marked 55, it is grey in color and marked 5c3t-14b192-aa over p6std.i noticed that when i tried the driver's seat adjustment controls the sound would go away and when release the sound returned.upon connected a charger to the battery the sound also went away.after charging the battery vehicle was able to be started.
Door ajar light stays on when door is shut. Will sometimes intermit causing interior lights to flash and bells going off.
Issue with turn signal functionality on a 2008 ford expedition limited el.the right turn indicator will start flashing even tho it is in the neutral position. Move the turn indicator lever down or left and the right indicator will turn off.it may sart the left indicator eventually if it does moving back to the neutral position will turn it off and act normal.it is constantly doing this while moving or sitting still motor running or not.it is very inconsistent and can be very dangerous if the indicator turns on and a car thinks i am going to turn and i dont may lead to a collision.
While driving, the vehicle suddenly started to accelerate on its own. Slowed vehicle to a safe speed and rpm's jumped to 3000. Put vehicle in park and the rpm's remained at 3000and the engine raced loudly. Took video of foot pedal, tachometer and under hood to record incident. This self acceleration happened in march at 99,000 miles and wife was nearly killed (odi #10450449). The dealership could not find anything wrong. After vehicle is re-started vehicle appears to run fine.
Driving at approx 35 mph on dry pavement. I approached a 2 way intersection with one stop sign. Traction control light illuminated and vehicle would not stop. Brakes were pumped multiple times with no change. Vehicle went through stop sign and off the road eventually coming to a stop naturally without the assistance of the brakes. Vehicle was placed in park and traction control light went off. Brakes were then pressed again and brake pressure was felt. If a vehicle would have been coming though the intersection a serious crash could have occurred.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition el. The contact was traveling 20 mph when the vehicle failed to stop when the brakes were depressed. The stability control warning light was illuminated during the failure. The failure and current mileages were 54,000.updated 07/02/12 the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired by a local ford dealer on june 25th. The steering angle sensor which generated the steel wheel position data input for the roll stability control system was identified as faulty . It appeared, the roll stability control system malfunctioned and disabled the brakes. Updated 07/05/12
Start out driving, then emergency brake, abs, and skid control warning lights all come on. Also says, check brake system. This appears to be a very common problem with this vehicle ford really needs to take care of this.
When driving during normal dry weather the traction control randomly comes on when it shouldn't and has caused the brakes tofail and the vehicle not stopping when the brakes are pressed.i have have owned the vehicle only 7 weeks and have had this issue with the brakes occur on 3 occasions. Luckily, 2 of the times i was in a rural area but the 3rd time i was on a busy city street and ran through a red light narrowly missing having an accident.each time this has occurred my speed was below 45mph.i did some research on this issue and found several blogs online of people with the same problem. In these blogs the individuals stated that the ford dealer was unable to identify or duplicate the problem in each blog that i found with this problem.many of these blogs were several years old so i called my local ford service manager who indicated he knew nothing of this problem and it would be difficult to diagnose since the traction control does not retain faults.my local service manager gave me a number to ford who i called and described the issue.the person i spoke with could not find anything regarding this issue and could only advise me to take it to a ford service location to check out.in the blogs i did read where one individual was told by his/her ford service center that a ford engineer would be coming to assess the problem. This is a serious issue.as i stated, i have owned the vehicle 7 weeks and had the traction control to cause the brakes to fail on 3 occasions.the date below of 8/24/2020 is the date of the 3rd occasions.
I purchased a 2008 ford expedition in dec 07. In oct 08 when my wife applied the brakes at approx 40 mph the traction control light came on, the abs took over, and the steering wheel began to shake violently and the vehicle was extremely hard for my wife to stop and she rolled past the stop sign and was almost hit by another vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the dealer for the repair. This has happened a total of four times, three times it has been to the dealer for the same problem. This has become an extreme safety problem for my wife since every time this has happened it is really hard for her to control and stop the vehicle. I have stated a case with ford customer care and the vehicle is currently at the dealer for the third time. Ford said they would have to send an engineer to go over the vehicle because the ford mechanics are unable to fix the problem. So far none of the ford personnel seem to know why or what causes this and seem to think it is perfectly fine to use my family as their crash test dummies.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition el. The contact stated that the electronic stability control was shutting on and off. When the electronic stability control light came it caused the contact to lose the ability to stop the vehicle when the brakes were applied. The dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that they could not duplicate or diagnose the failure.the failure mileage was 40000 and the current mileage was 45000. Updated 02/09/11*ljthe consumer stated he continues to experience traction control problems which renders the braking system ineffective. Updated 03/08/11
Steering wheel position sensor defective. Stability control warning light illuminates intermittently. Ford is aware of defect and have issued a tsb concerning issue to techs.
Clear coat and paint started peeling of for no reason and rust is appearing underneath the hood and the back door as well.takes a while before shifting gears.
5.4l camshaft phaser knocking / pinging noise
At the start of the engine, there is a tickling noise that does not disappear until after the first gear is automatically engaged.to me, this looks like a manufacturer's defect on the vehicle rather than an engine problem because at 41000 miles, such problems should not develop:the vehicle is relatively new.
When i start my 2008 expedition ithe motor makes a clatter sound, then it stops and also inside the truck the actuator door inside the dash makes noice, then it stops.the passenger handle is loose i think it's missing the spring that returns it.all of this happens everyday.today is 30 november 2016.
Pulling into the garage and the car spontaneously accelerated causing me to slam on brakes.this is the second time the car started accelerating spontaneously since i purchased it.the first time i was stopped at a stoplight with my foot on the brake when the car started revving and wanted to jump forward, if i hadn't through the car into park i would have hit the car in front of me.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the engine suddenly stalled. The vehicle completely shut down with no power brakes or power steering. The contact was able to maneuver onto the emergency lane. The contact turned the vehicle off, restarted it and he then drove to the local dealership. After leaving the vehicle at the dealer for three days, the contact was informed that the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The failure did not recur. The contact sent to a letter to the manufacturer and was awaiting a response. The vin was unavailable when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were approximately 31,000.
In feb. 08 i purchased a 08 ford expedition from champion ford.in june 08 i started having problems with the vehicle we took it to their service dept. Where they said they did a comp. Update so it worked until april of 09 same problem again they did another update (it happened before than but i only have record for these dates).it started again july 10 took it to ac collins ford they did an update as well, they had it from july10-14. Now it has happened again started in nov 10 they received the vehicle at their location on 11152010 we went to get it on 11302010 we did not even make it out of the parking lot when it started again we turned around to let the know it was doing it again all they said wasthere is nothing we can do,we have done the update on the comp.that's all we can do.so we drove it home. The following morning we could not even start the vehicle but we kept trying and when it finally started the vehicle was worse off then ever before. So we returned it on 12012010 and ask them to fix it. So it has been there since then now they asked me to provide oil change receipts which i did then they tell me the engine has sludge and will not be covered by the warranty and extended warranty that i purchased.so we picked up the vehicle and took it to bayway-lincoln to see if they can find the initial problem. May problem is why did it take them so many attempts to try to find what the problem was.maybe my engine would not be sludged up if they would have done what they were suppose to do in the first place because on the receipts i have they state the did 115 point inspections i would thin they would have found out about the engine.
On september 11, 2011 we hit a deer, the whole front of the expedition was destroyed. Jim bass ford collision did the repairs. In the meantime they claim that the engine light was on due to the camshaft position sensor pigtail being bad. I claimed that before the accident everything was fine ( no engine light). The mechanic did confirm that they have had several expeditions with the same problem. As a consumer i think ford should be responsible to this engine outage called( pigtail sensor).
While driving across the arizona desert in 104 degree temperatures, my air conditioner stopped working entirely.it would not blow any air. This created extremely hazardous temperatures inside the vehicle.rolling the windows down was useless.it was 104 degrees outside. After allowing the vehicle to cool down, the a/c started working again.
Own a 2008 king ranch ford expedition el, complained from the beginning that windows were slow to open and close. The windows would freeze shut. They eventually changed the window tracks, but didn't seem to help. Now the windows get stuck in the down or half up position, especially when the temp is cold.i pushed to have them change the window motor, but would not.now that it is out of warranty. They want to replace the window motors!!!!i see this as a huge safety issue.if i would need to roll down my windows to escape in the winter...i would be unable to do so. My husband, son and dogs were in montana with blinding snow and freezing temps...with the window stuck in the half up position.they had to pull the window up with there hands.*ln
The mechanic at merchant tire kingdom noted that at least 15 of my lug nuts needed to replaced because they were beginning to crack, which could lead to the tire becoming dislodged from the rim. I replaced all 24 lug nuts tobe safe. This is an usually incident given that my previous expedition i had for 15 years never needed a single lug nut.
A/c leaking water. A/c evaporator coil housing box to condensate and leak water on and under the passenger side floorboard carpet. Also around the condensate drain that exits the passenger compartment it a black foam rubber gasket that soaks up water like a sponge.this gasket butts-up against the firewall and is what's leaking most of the water under the carpet.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. The contact stated that after dispensing fuel into the fuel tank to the half or full capacity, the fuel would overflow onto the ground. The vehicle was taken to both an authorized dealer and independent mechanic. The fuel tank hoses were cleaned and the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was made aware of the faulty fuel tank. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. Updated 06/03/11
While driving my expedition el on the highway and rounding a curve at 65 mph, the engine died without any warning.fortunately, i was able to put the transmission into neutral and coast to a stop in a safe location.the engine would not start for several minutes, but then started and ran normally.i drove it straight to the dealer and dropped it off.the dealer diagnosed it as a fuel pump failure, and informed me that the part was on backorder and they could not guarantee a delivery date.i have been without my car for 5 weeks, and have spoken with the service manager and ford customer service reps on several occasions.after first offering to help with car rental expenses, i have now been told that they will not assist me with rental expenses.they also have not been able to advise a date when the part will be available so i can get my car back.my $40,000 car is now worth nothing, i can't even sell it.from what i have been able to find out, this is a common failure with this fuel pump design.i would like ford to order a recall, pay for the repairs, and cover my car rental expenses until they can repair my car.
The "check engine light" has come on 6 times since my 2008 ford expedition limited was purchased in february 2008, requiring a trip to the dealer each time.exhaustive checks by ford service personnel initially centered on the gas cap, however, even after the gas cap was replaced, the same symptom occurred several times.only after a determined inspection by ford service personnel was the trouble diagnosed as a faulty fuel tank which provided a poor sealing surface for the fuel pump o-ring.the fuel tank was replaced, and the trouble disappeared.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the fuel pump had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.
Takata recallmy 2008 expedition eb broke down when i was at a red light. Had to call for a tow truck cause didnt want to start cranked but didnt want to run. Brought it home check engine light was on so checked normal stuff fuses an relays everything seemed fine no fuses were blown. Am really mechanical myself checked to see if it was gettinggas so checked pressure on fuel rails an justed like i guessed the first no fuel. So decided to drop the gas tank to see if pump went outso took out pump an it had shorten out on plug burn melted the harness. So my thing is this should be a recall an have ford fix it at no cost. My worry is that what if it had blown up with me in it an worse what if my kids were in it an this would of been a death trap explosion more like it this should be a concern to all ford owners bad product. Issue that i haven't seen a recall on the fuel system but this should be looked into. An by the way my expedition only has 114346 miles this is a big safety issue.

I have a 2008 ford expedition with aluminum corrosion issues. I was at a body shop yesterday and he noticed that the hood latch had a lot of corrosion around the bolts and said it could eventually let go and the hood could fly open. Why would this be happening to such a new vehicle? ford says this is not covered.

This is a used car we were going to buy at a reputable dealer's lot.salesman assured us it had not been in an accident.upon inspection by our mechanic, it was determined that this vehicle had extensive front end damage, being rebuilt with salvage parts and repainted, probably in mexico.the transmission needed costly repairs.it had also had the tailgate removed, possibly replaced, and the brake pedal was welded on.

On 2 separate events my ford expedition rolled down the driveway when it was in parked with foot brake engaged. I took it to the ford service department and they claim they could not find any issues. This weekend with transmission in park and foot brake engaged the vehicle rolled backwards again almost running over me.

The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
My truck was put in park and i couldn't put the car in gear. I was stranded with my family for 1 1/2 . I had to do research so i went to the internet on my cell phone and found out that it was the break light switch. I also read the manual and it said to replace the fuse . I did that and it still wouldn't go into gear. I had my wife stand in the back of the car while i depressed the brakes and the light wouldn't go on. After reading on line someone had mentioned to go under the dash board and giggle the switch by the break peddle. I did and started the car and thankfully the car was able to go into gear. I had went out this morning and im still having the same problem. I jiggled the switch again by the break peddle and it worked again.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. The contact stated that the transmission made a knocking noise and when traveling at low speeds and lunged forward. While slowing down to 15 mph to make a right turn, the vehicle jerked forward and when driving straight and slowing down, it would continue to jerk after an attempt to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the plate assembly/drive plate and the screen assembly were replaced. The problem was not remedied by the repairs. The contact was driving in reverse out of the garage when the vehicle began pulling in reverse. The vehicle also pulled back 6 feet when in the park position. When the tow truck arrived, the vehicle exhibited the identical failure while it was in park. The dealer informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,035. The current mileage was approximately 35,000.

The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition.ever since the vehicle was purchased, the transmission has experienced difficulty shifting from gear to gear.the contact has taken the vehicle back to the dealer at least four times, but they cannot determine the cause of the failure.the failure mileage was 12,000. The ford manufacturer was sent pictures, police reports and an eye witness testimony of what happened. 1.)we bought the vehicle early in 2009 but never had a reason to use the 4wd.the first time we remember using it, there was a loud clanking sound.2.)the second time we remember using the 4wd on the vehicle, the driveshaft twisted into failure even though the vehicle was moving at a slow rate of speed.3.) when we took it to the dealership, they indicated that we abused the vehicle and said they could not perform the warranty work (however, they didn't mind giving us a loaner car) even though we bought the vehicle from them and they know we don't abuse our vehicles.i then called ford customer service and they in turn called the dealership.the customer service spokesman came back and said they stand behind the dealerships service department and that they considered the manner closed.

Front passenger seatbelt locks, and now it doesnā€™t allow the passenger to buckle up. In other words the passenger seat belt buckle does not work anymore. It is a safety hazard to my passenger.
About 2 - 2 1/2 years ago we laid are middle seat down in the middle row of are expedition to make ease of are dogs getting in and out of the vehicle.but now i'm in the process of putting the seat up to go travel, but i am having concerns about the seat considering the seat will not re-latch in the up right position, to make it capable of holding 8 people total in the vehicle safely.the local shop doesn't have a clue but does agree its a safety hazard in a way. The only solution they can think of is to replace out what ever part that is bad and then go from there, pricing on part alone is ranging as high as 650 dollars for everything minus labor fees.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition.the second row seat's headrests in the upright position have the foam facing forward and the plastic facing the rear.during abrupt stops, a passenger's head would strike the plastic instead of the foam.the contact believed that this was a manufacturer defect.he returned to ford and they discovered that all of the headrests were installed in reverse.the current and failure mileages were 237.*updated 12/12/07 updated 12/12/07
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. While driving approximately 35 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond without warning. The contact was able to avoid a crash after the emergency brake was engaged. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The master cylinder was replaced two additional times, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where it was diagnosed that the automatic brake system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07e105000 (service brakes, air). The failure mileage was 90,000.
Driving vehicle brake function seems normal, but randomly the brake pedal will depress far lower in order to brake. After a few pumps it rises and brakes at a higher position. I took the car to the mechanic who had previously replaced the brake pads and found nothing wrong, also during week long test drive mechanic did not have same experience. I have had the experience 5-6 times, and spouse has also had the brake pedal go too far down before it brakes. This issue has happened at high & lo speeds street & highway. It is very random too, does not happen on every vehicle use.
Stopping at a red light and brake pedal went almost to floor. Had vehicle checked by local ford dealer and they could find nothing wrong. Vehicle brakes have to be pumped a couple of times every time they are used. Took it back to ford dealer. They say it is master cylinder. Ordered one over a week ago. Ford supply is all out and has a national back order which makes it sound as if i am not the only one with the brake problem although i cannot find a recall on it. Dealer is attempting to find a master cylinder through another source.
My girlfriend and i came home, i placed the suv in park. I was fully out of the vehicle when my girlfriend informed me that the keys were still in theignition. I reached into the vehicle to take the keys out of theignition, the car was what i assumed to be off. The suv begin to reverse. The driveway was on an incline and i almost got ran over by the vehicle. There was a clicking noise like the gear was trying to catch. I was fully out of the suv with a bag in my hand, but the seat belt locked on my girlfriend and she wasn't able to get out or get the vehicle to stop. The suv was stopped by trees and i was able to get it out, the key was in the ignition still, the car was in park, in order to get out over the curb and out of the trees, i restarted the engine. I have since driven the vehicle and have been noticing jerking, and high pitch squeaking noises from the breaks and something going on with the break pedal, as though it has not come up from the usable break position. I am thankful my children were not injured.
Driver first noticed the smell of burning brakes when coming to a stop after exiting the highway, all at low speeds (speed limitwas 35mph or less). At the next intersection, driver noticedwhite smoke coming from right front wheel.driver got out to inspect the wheel, and noticed thatthe right front brake caliperand brake rotor were extremely hot and smoke and flames were coming from them. Other three wheels were cool (normal). There were no warning lights, etc. Turned off car, back on, in the hope ofe.g. Resetting the abs controller -- no changes. Brakes were so hotthat driver decided to drive some nearby frontage roads at low speeds, without using the brakes, in an attempt to cool the right front brake. Made little difference. Eventually parked the vehicle (braking continued to be impaired), came back around 1 hour later, brake had cooled down, was able to drive away. Similar instance recurred on 2012-12-18 -- again, right frontbrake, this time in city driving, rotor was glowing orange (not yet on fire) on a cold night when driver stopped tolook at it and park the vehicle.this is of course avery dangerous situation, and could lead to loss of lifedue to front brake failure.driver is aware that there is arecall ( 07e105000) associated with this year of the vehicle. Ford claims that this particular vin is not affected by this recall. However, driver (who is experienced with brake systems) feels that these two events are very suggestive of a failure in the brake system to return fluid from the caliper, leading to excessive pressure in the caliper, leading to these problems. Driver has been unable to get information from ford or continental (oem manufacturer) thatwould unambiguously show that the abs and brake modules in this particular vehicle are free from defects and are not subjectto this recall. Ford should fix this!

The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. The contact stated that the anti-lock brake system (abs) activated without warning and caused an abnormal increase in stopping distance. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealer performed a diagnostic but was unable to locate a failure code. The vehicle was also test driven and the technician was unable to recreate the failure. The transmission and brake pads were replaced but the failure was not corrected. The abs light continued to activate independently and without warning. The manufacturer advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 07e105000 (service brakes, air: antilock: control unit/module front brake pads). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.
I was reading in a magazine about ford having a problem with the brake master cylinder failing, leaking into the booster, causing brake failure.this happened to me a few weeks ago.i first felt my brake pedal getting weak.then i saw a warning light.i first thought maybe my emergency brake was applied?? it was not.then i noticed i had very little brake?? what to do?? i decided to try to get back to my job, where we have a service department.i drove about 50 miles with no brakes!!! just took my time, being careful.about $800 later i'm on the road again!!!

This is an intermittent problem that occurs and was first noticed a couple years ago.for an unknown reason when the brakes are applied the peddle goes soft and pulsates, as if the abs is activated.this has occurred when the vehicle was started and just backing up, to just after leaving and making the first brake application, and after several hours or minutes of driving.during this time it appears that the vehicle will not stop normally.pumping of the brake pedal or momentarily hitting the brake hard cleared the problem.it doesn't matter if a gentle brake is applied or if you are slowing for a turn or braking for a red light or a stop.this occurs sometimes several days in a row or nearly so.but most often it is isolated and then does not occur for a period of time.although it appears to be recurring more frequently.this has in occurred in all types of weather conditions from dry to wet.this has occurred at varying speeds whether in the driveway, in a residential area or on the highway.
Start out driving, then emergency brake, abs, and skid control warning lights all come on. Also says, check brake system. This appears to be a very common problem with this vehicle ford really needs to take care of this.

On september 4, 2011 attempting to apply my brakes due to a vehicle that abruptly stopped without warning my vehicle would not stop feeling as if the brakes were not gripping i hit the rear of the vehicle in front of me.prior to the accident the ford dealership changed the rear brake to include installing a new rear brake line kit stating there was nothing wrong with the front as they had not worn down yet. Not know much about abs i inquired about why the rear brakes were worn and the front brakes were still good, i cannot remember the explanation the service representative gave but i felt it was not right.six months later my brakes don''t allow me to stop when an emergency arises putting my children and myself in danger along with the people in front of us had we already been on the freeway.i can''t say for sure if it was the front or the rear brakes that slowed the vehicle down but it did not attempt to stop coming into a downhill curve unto the freeway.there was no hesitation in the brakes no matter how hard i pressed them to stop.after having my vehicle checked at the body shop it was determined there is a problem with the abs but ford is refusing to acknowledge the problems.
On 2 separate events my ford expedition rolled down the driveway when it was in parked with foot brake engaged. I took it to the ford service department and they claim they could not find any issues. This weekend with transmission in park and foot brake engaged the vehicle rolled backwards again almost running over me.

The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition.while driving 10 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floor when the contact attempted to stop the vehicle.he must pump the brake pedal in order to get the brakes to work.the failure occurs every time the brake pedal is depressed.the vehicle was taken to the dealer more than 11 times.the dealer stated that the failure could not be repaired and was unauthorized to replace the brake pedal.the failure mileage was 100.
2008 ford expedition with brake failure.consumer states that on at least six occasions the brakes have failed momentarily. Pedal ratchets down, makes a tapping sound then braking power is lost.the consumer stated the incidents happened during normal braking.
My vehicle was involved in an accident while coming into a cub to get onto the freeway the vehicle in front of me made a sudden stop in an emergency panic i hit my brakes and my expedition never attempted to stop.as i explained to two of officers on the scene i was standing on my brakes and it would not stop.the following business day i was given information from my insurance company there was a rash of problems with the brakes on this particular model.following the repairs the dealership kept my vehicle for 3 weeks trying to figure out what happened to my brake and discovered from the computer there was a problem prior to me having the accident.the day i went to pick it up after three weeks in the shop for brakes alone again i was put into my fourth rental vehicle because the truck never left the shop.today my brakes still will not stop properly and to top it off after giving ford a copy of the recall for the brakes, sensors, and transmission by the way of which the dealership has supposedly adjusted prior to the accident i still got stuck with the repair bills.i talked with a certified ford brake specialist the day i got my vehicle from the shop and explained what happened, what the dealership said and did as well as my brakes still go to floor but not to my surprise he told me it was not right and needed to go back because the vehicle still in not safe to drive but the dealership insist these brake are suppose to be soft and squishy as the shop foreman told me.there is a serious problem with this vehicle and unfortunately it is my only mode of transportation and i can't afford to trade it or get another at this time but serious safety issues do exist.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. The contact stated the hydraulic control module failed twice in the past year. The brake pedal was depressed abnormally into the floorboard and the contact had to pump the brakes before getting a response. Steering wheel position sensor defective. Stability control warning light illuminates intermittently. Ford is aware of defect and have issued a tsb concerning issue to techs.
We purchased this 2008 expedition last fall with the intension of towing a trailer across country because they came with high reviews and comfort.we first noticed the drifting when we picked up the trailer.the trailer fully loaded is about 6,200 pounds.we have a stabilizer hitch that we used to tow with.we took the suv into a dealer to have it checked out.a mechanic suggested that they check the camber's.the dealer said all was fine.we took it on a 7,000 mile trip towing the trailer and immediately discovered that the towing ability was dangerous.the steering wheel was difficult to control. In all cases, no wind or with ever the slightest wind, the vehicle would drift from side to side and the trailer would wobble back and forth making it exhausting to steer.with high gusts it was almost impossible to steer even at 45 mph, it would drift from side to side making it extremely hard to control, and the trailer fish-tailing behind us.it was very dangerous.we could not go over 55-60 mph on a wind free day and feel anywhere safe.we took it into the same dealer when we got back home and they said that they didn't see anything wrong.we took it into another dealer and they also took it for a test drive and said they could not see any problems.there is something terribly wrong with this suspension and steering system and the dealers cannot put a finger on it.the steering wheel has a tendency to cause the suv to drift while driving even without the trailer. It feels loose. It also at times, has a knock in it like something is either snapping back in or snapping out of position.we are at a loss and don't know where to turn for help.we love this suv other than these driving problems that are dangerous.
My husband has a 2008 ford expedition. The half hook is poorly designed therefore the carpet floor mat does not stay secure and the mat moves around and shifts alot when you are driving. My son was driving the expedition on sunday aug. 8,2010 when the floor mat moved, got bunched up under his feet and the brake pedal, which caused him to not be able to stop and he ran into a brick building. The more people i talk to the more i find out it happens to others but it's not reported because there's no accident. I reported this problem and the accident to ford and i was advised that this was a common occurrence and they gave me a case # to give my insurance company.
S10 direct reply-forwarded from epa, a letter from regarding problems with her 2008 ford expedition *tgwthe consumer stated water entered the vents and came through the roof. The consumer stated the vehicle has been to the repair shop several for the water leak.
We have always purchased ford's we consider ourselves a ford family, very loyal to them.this is our second expedition with a paint bubbling issue on both the hood and tailgate.i am very disappointed in ford...my husband drives an f250 super duty that he had his company owner get as a company vehicle.there is no problem with his vehicle.this is our 5th purchase of a ford vehicles, ford probe, ford explorer, ford f150, 2002 ford expedition and our current 2008 ford expedition.and this problem has only occurred with the expeditions.i look at other ford's in parking lots everywhere with the same issue.this is definitely a factory paint defect and ford should offer to fix this problem.otherwise i can see ford losing a lot of customer's over this issue.

I purchased a black 2008 ford expedition 14 months ago from courtesy ford in altoona pa for 40,000 cash. I recently relocated to clermont fl. And noticed what seemed like sandy grit under my black paint. I thought it was a xzilon paint protection issue and on oct.10 paul kiste accessory mngr. For jarrett ford davenport gave me a signed letter with his name and title at the bottom that stated "upon inspection of mr. Conte's vehicle it is my opinion that the paint problem is a factory defect and not due to the xzilon paint protection application" it went on to say i am referring mr. Conte to our plant city store(45miles away)to have our paint and body specialist recommend the proper route to take regarding the fixing of this issue. Upon arrival my vehicle was inspected by carl demuth body shop mngr, steve flack, and a painter named mike. They acknowledged the problem, told me the sand looking substance was air bubbles under all the paint and pointed out even more defects that i was not aware of such as,"dimples",tiny crater like holes, blemishes exposed by the sunlight, and a few other bodyman terms that i am not familiar with. When i asked what would cause that, carl said "when the vehicles leave the factory the mill spec on the paint should be 3 to 3.5 miles. Carl went into the office and returned with a hand held machine that measured the mills of paint on a vehicle. He started at the drivers side front quarter panel and worked his way around the vehicle stopping at the passenger side front quarter panel. The first reading was 11 mills, then 12.5 mills, than 12 mills, then 13 mills and finally 14.5 miles. He said that it was clear to him that at the factory they painted my vehicle saw flaws then repainted and so on and so on. He estimated i had 4 to 5 coats of paint on my vehicle and that if not fixed that my problems will only get worse. He said that he was surprised that it hasn't started cracking and staring yet. He told me a ford rep. Would look at it,she did and found no problem.
My wife reached down to pick up a toy our granddaughter had dropped. Wind blew car door closed, and retractable running board retracted catching my wife's arm. She could not free herself. She sustained bruising to her arm.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the bracket that held the fender had light to moderate corrosion. The vehicle was diagnosed, but not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.

Body corrosion of the aluminum hood and tailgate causing paint to bubble and peel off.
Water is collecting in the driver's side rear door.a sloshing sound was heard and when the door was opened and the vehicle was faced uphill water began to exit the bottom of the door at the weather stripping.each time it rains water is entering this door.from the exterior the door looks the same as the others.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. The contact stated that the driver side interior door handle fractured and the contact was unable to exit the vehicle without opening the door from the exterior.the manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised that there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v058000 (latches/locks/linkages: doors: latch) but her vin was not included in the recall and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 73,000.
Paint is blistering on aluminum hood and tailgate. A well known problem with ford expeditions.

Paint peeling - experiencing excessive paint peeling on the hood and rear lift gate. The paint first started bubbling and now is peeling.
Paint flaking off hood and rear lift gate.these are no magnetic parts, possibly aluminum.
In 2011, my interior passenger door handle stopped opening the door but didn't come off.i thought it just broke and would get it fixed when i could afford to.but then in 2012, the backinterior passenger door handle broke off in my son's hand because he was trying to open the door and get out and it wouldn't unlatch. Not too long after, the driver side back interior passenger door handle broke off in my hand.now i was positive there had to be recall of some sort.so i went searching for information online.i called my ford dealership and spoke with [xxx]. I even took my car in and he said my vin wasn't covered under the interior door latch handle recall. I couldn't believe it considering i had multiple handles that broke off without any force at all. As the driver, i was responsible for opening all passenger doors to let people out of my car.today, january 20th, 2017, the driver side interior door handle broke off right in my hands. Now, not even i as the driver can get out without the window being down to access the exterior handle. I have 6 children and nobody can get out of the car now. And there was a recall on ford expedition interior door latches, so i'm pretty certain mine should have been a party of this! but nobody wants to take responsibility for something that is obviously defective.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Paint is chiping from the hood and from the trunk door. The other problem is that it vibrates at high speeds. It drives very smooth, but once i hit above 70mph on the highway it starts to feel shaky. I can feel the vibration on the steering wheel.
This vehicle is equipped with the factory installed automatic deploying running boards.the vehicle occupants become reliant on this very important step up for ease of occupant entry and exit from vehicle.these style running boards are found on almost all higher-end luxury ford & lincoln sport utility vehicles manufactured from 2006 to present.on two random occasions, with no warning given, the motor ran, but the running board on driver's side failed to deploy.while exiting vehicle, expecting this transition step to the ground to be there, as was designed, driver fell from vehicle spraining ankle and injuring head.medical treatment was given locally with no doctor.this surprising and unexpected height change of approximately 12 inches is equivalent to removing or missing a stair tread while descending stairs.after researching on internet it seems to be a reoccurring issue among owners.this could prove deadly in a fall to an older occupant that assumes a false sense of security that this "helping step" down is always there while exiting vehicle, when it is not.
The tailgate on my 2008 ford expedition el is bubbling and cracking where the lift gate is. I believe this to be a major defect in the way this model vehicle was built. I have seen numerous '08 el's with the same problem. It looks as if underneath the paint has sever rusting. This is definitely something that ford needs to take responsibility for.
I'm having paint peeling off the back of my car and the front of hood and the morei washed my suv paint peeling off i do have small children i don't wanna accident

The paint on my hood and tailgate is bubbling and peeling. I was told these parts are aluminum and the problem is being caused by improper preparation of the surfaces. Have any other ford owners reported a similar problem ? ford is not willing to do anything to correct this. I don't believe a 6 year old vehicle should have peeling paint.
The paint is peeling and bubbling on the hood and trunk.the paint is peeling and bubbling also under hood and trunk.
Paint started bubbling on tailgate at about 80,000 miles.car was brought to dealer for inspection of the tailgate and issue was forwarded to ford motor co for approval under extended warranty.approval was denied as the body panel was not yet visible under paint (as it was explained to me).at 95,000 miles (vehicle still covered under extended warranty) paint had flaked off and there was visible corrosion of the aluminum tailgate.paint has also started flaking off the underside of the tailgate, under the lower lip, exposing the body panel beneath.even with the exposed body panels and corrosion and oxidation of the aluminum tailgate coverage was still denied.this is an obvious issues with the workmanship or process used to apply paint to aluminum body panels as the paint on the rest of the vehicle is in very good condition.
Paint peeling off under front of hood and under rear lift gate. This is a known problem for ford, i am finding out. It has apparently been going on for over a decade. The paint flakes off on any aluminum body panels that have been contaminated with iron. I have taken my vehicle to the dealer and they refused to repair it free of charge. I also called ford directly to complain and was told that there is currently no recall for the paint since there are not enough complaints.
Paint is peeling offhood and rear lift gate. This is a known problem for ford.it has apparently been going on for over a decade. The paint flakes off on any aluminum body panels that have been contaminated with iron.i spoke with ford and they cannot issue a recall on the paint until more complaints are filed with ford motor company.call 1-800-392-3673 with your vin to file your complaint. It only takes 5 minutes.
Ford expedition 2008 purchased new in 2009 from mullinax ford in lake park fl had paint blister on the hood and back end in 2011 which is a well known problem. Mullinax body shop said paint not covered after 1 year and quoted expensive paint job. I asked if that is what i should expect from a ford motor vehicle since this was my 1st ford. I also asked if this was good advertisement for ford with the obvious paint peel everywhere we go. I tell the story to everyone i see or asks with a 7 member family playing sports, school, work, church, etc. Now that it's time to replace, i wonder if ford expects us to purchase a ford suv for over $60,000+ versus all the options out there. Hmmm ford could have done a simple paint job at their "cost" years ago for our loyalty many many cars going forward. Burn us once, shame on you......twice....bad decision mullinax ford.
I have called ford about the paint peeling on the back hatch and front hood. They have told me that they do not have a recall or problems with the paint. I have told them that many ford expedition owners have had the same issue as indicated by nhtsa reports and fixed their vehicle at no cost. Any given day you can drive by one of these vehicles and you will see the exact locations are peeling paint. I would ask for you to check why some are covered and others are not to then issue a recall to fix all affected. Thank you for your assistance.
The paint on the rear of my truck starting coming off.i read online that many ford expedition owners have this same complaint and that some owners have taken ford to court to fix this.this is not right.it is a well maintained vehicle and the paint only in the rear starts bubbling up and then falling off.i think this should be fixed by ford.this is a very expensive vehicle.i have a 2000 crown victoria with no paint falling off.
I have a 2008 ford expedition that has paint corrosion around the front hood latch. I had an estimate done by a local body shop and he pointed this out to me. He said it will eventually corrode through and the hood will fly open.
I have called ford about the paint peeling on the back hatch and front hood. They have told me that they do not have a recall or problems with the paint. I have told them that many ford expedition owners have stopped me on the road and that ford had repainted their vehicle for nothing. Any given day you can drive by one of these vehicles and you will see the exact locations are peeling paint. I would ask for you to check why some are covered and others are not. Thank you for your assistance.
My wife reached down to pick up a toy our granddaughter had dropped. Wind blew car door closed, and retractable running board retracted catching my wife's arm. She could not free herself. She sustained bruising to her arm.
Air shocks and pump need replacing.very expensivealmost four thousand.vehicle only has100, 000 miles.vehicle is very unstable.
The compressor for the air suspension quit causing the air suspension to fail. This makes the vehicle undriveable. This is a known defect that has other aftermarket parts manufacturers making retrofit kits.
Paint is chiping from the hood and from the trunk door. The other problem is that it vibrates at high speeds. It drives very smooth, but once i hit above 70mph on the highway it starts to feel shaky. I can feel the vibration on the steering wheel.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)2008 ford expedition el limited 4 x 4.my vehicle (and many others from what i have read online) tows horribly, weaves almost uncontrollably when getting passed while towing and even when clean, will abruptly try to change lanes and swerve all by it's self when in a gusty cross wind or when being passed by other vehicles.there was another huge roll over accident a few days ago with an expedition while towing and at least this time no one was killed. I have had my el back to the dealer and they say it's fine, but it's not.my last two suvs (dodge) were as solid as a rock but the expedition is very dangerous and needs to be investigated.[xxx]
There is a tpms fault due to cellular phone or cellular phone charger use. Ford motor company has issued a tsb to dealers that this is a known issue, but have not developed a remedy.
2008 ford expedition el i have been having an issue with my anti-lock braking system since i purchased my vehicle. My abs light will start blinking on the dashboard for no apparent reason whether i am on wet or dry roads. When i go to apply the brakes, my truck will go into abs mode causing the my car to stutter upon stopping. I have been to the dealer about 20 times as they have sealed my steering column stating that the sunlight is somehow hitting the sensor. That didn't work. They then removed the abs module and about 3 weeks after that, the problem continued. It happens on occasion, but it is very dangerous when i am on the highway and have to apply the brakes as it doesn't allow me to stop quickly if i have to. It isn't a continuous problem, but when it occurs it scares the heck out of my family. I don't know what the issue is and ford obviously doesn't either. I just need someone to find the problem. This has been happening for over a year.
My truck was on and in park with emergency brakes engaged. No hill. I was on flat surface( my driveway).truck went in reverse & hit my neighbors house.
Sudden acceleration, that tore up about five cars in a hospital parking lot and onto on coming traffic.

When i start my 2008 expedition ithe motor makes a clatter sound, then it stops and also inside the truck the actuator door inside the dash makes noice, then it stops.the passenger handle is loose i think it's missing the spring that returns it.all of this happens everyday.today is 30 november 2016.
The vehicle accelerated in reverse from our garage and could not be stopped.it hit a tree.my wife suffered three broken ribs and a broken leg.i suffered severe bruises.a video of the accident is available in mp4 format.the police report and the insurance claim can be obtained.this vehicle model has been involved in lawsuits accusing unintended acceleration.i believe this is the cause of this accident.the vehicle is being held by the insurance company.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition eddie bauer edition. While driving in reverse at a low speed the vehicle accelerated. She engaged the brake pedal and the vehicle continued to accelerated.
The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to over 100 mph. After trying to decelerate, the vehicle would not slow down. The contact shifted into neutral and was able to coast to the side of the road. After stopping, the contact noticed that the brakes were smoking and extremely hot. The police and fire department were contacted arrived on scene to assist the contact. The police and the fire department both noted that the accelerator pedal had become jammed and would not release. The battery was then disconnected so that the vehicle would not ignite. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was awaiting a diagnosis of the failure.the manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure and the current mileages were approximately 99,000.

Experienced problem with power windows failing to operate whenever vehicle was in direct sunlight ( 90 degree or more) with all windows closed. Two dealers were notified and nothing could be found because by the time consumer got to the dealer the windowswere working properly. Seeking help from nhtsa in this matter. Replaced main power window switch on driver side on 5-26-00.according to the police report, the consumer entered the vehicle, placed the vehicle into reverse, when suddenly the vehicle accelerated backwards in a clockwise direction. During the reverse movement, the consumer struck the left front of another vehicle and hit a pedestrian who was ultimately killed. Updated 04/06/10

Car was on cruise control and the accelerator was pressed to pass another car.the accelerator got stuck and the car kept accelerating.the brake was pressed and we tried to turn off cruise control and it would not stop accelerating.finally, it made a popping sound and stopped accelerating.it happened multiple times on the interstate.it also happened when we got off on to highway and accelerated.the cruise control was not on and it just kept accelerating, the brake would not stop it.the accelerator was just stuck accelerating.

Sudden acceleration in 2008 ford expedition (king ranch). Vehicle accelerated after being put into drive. Vehicle went through double brick wall and over a horse before coming to a stop.
While driving approximately 45 mph my vehicle started to accelerate by itself. I would brake hard and the engine would rev high. I ran two stop signs. I tried to put it into neutral and i couldn't get it to go.i did not attempt to shut it off while driving. After about 2 miles i swung the vehicle into a vacant lot braked hard and turned the vehicle off. This took place on a two way city street.
I was driving down the highway coming to a red light and i left off the pedal and my vehicle kept going it would not slow down. The rpms finally came down and i was able to stop. Then i went home and put it in park and the rpms went up on its on. All the way up to 3k rpm. I had to put my foot under the pedal and pull up. This is very dangerous. I have already paid ford $195 for them to clean throttle body and did not fix. Can't afford to take it back.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, he heard a loud explosion. After inspecting the vehicle he found that the rear lift gate glass imploded into the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. My vehicle was parked inmy home driveway for at least 20 hours without being driven, in the extreme michigan cold weather. The morning of, i was made aware that my rear window was totally shattered.there was shattered glass on the interior of the vehicle and shattered glass on the exterior snow covered ground. The back window had exploded to shards.
Rear window was blown out at a stoplight.heard a loud boom and i thought someone hit me but there was no one in the area. Looked back and my whole back rear window was gone.
While my wife was rolling up the passenger side window in our vehicle, the window became stuck and would not roll back up. Now my wife and two kids were stuck riding around with a widow halfway rolled down in cold weather. She took the vehicle to the dealership and they wanted close to 400$ to repair it. This is pretty bad considering there is thousands of complaints on the internet on this same issue. A faulty window regulator. I called the parts department to get a price, and the sales person even told me this was a very common problem. At 400$ times 4 adds up and is ridiculous for a $50,000 vehicle.

My 2008 ford expedition passenger front side window started a high pitch squeak/squeal when going up and down (power windows)a week later my driver front side window started the same, they both did this for about a month and then one morning i put the driver side down and went to put it up it started to shimmy up and down like it wanted to go up but would then go down again, after playing with it my husband finally got it to go up.since then i had used it 2 weeks later to find that the window shimmied again while trying to put it up and following trying to get the window up there was a loud noise the window wouldn't go up at all.took it to the dealership and the inside cable for the power window was broken, since this is not a warrantied item, we had them replaced the "window regulator" on the drivers side and the passenger sideis not yet fixed.
The contact owns a 2008 ford expedition.during inclement weather the drivers side window will not roll down.however, the other windows in the vehicle work. The current mileage was 35,800.the vehicle identification number was unavailable.
