Crank position failure , pn f7tz12k073a,at 80,000 miles on the2003 ford excursion7.3 ltr diesel.back up sensors failedintermittantly.

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion. The contact stated that the gear shift lever sparked a fire and the wiring of the shifter began to melt. The vehicle was engulfed in smoke shortly after the failure. The contact immediately shut off the vehicle and disconnected the battery. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician stated that the wiring insulation of the lever had worn and caused the failure. As a result, the gear shift assembly would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 145,000.in addition, the contact stated that the silver circuit box inside of the fuse box melted and caught on fire. When the failure occurred, all the gauges on the instrument panel and the alternator failed causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who stated that the fuse box would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed him that the fuse box was discontinued.the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred shortly after. In order to remedy the failure, a modification had to be made to bypass the melting current by placing an external wire and circuit breaker. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 140,000.

Driver used cruise control on tollway, got off tollway fire started 1/4 mile from exit. Ford excursion v 10 gas engine, cruise control deactivation switch failure got hot causing engine fire. The diesel engines were recalled for the same reason. This vehicle is a limousine/qvm. Nhtsa campaign # 07v078000 manufacture campaign # 05s28.

The inter lights stay on anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour after you turn truck off, the low range 4x4 will notdisengage until you back up for about 1/2 mile electrical system keeps turning the truck off shows battery light then glow plug light shuts engine off and have to jump the truck then it runs for 45 minutes and jump it again

On route 228 i was going about 45 mph.my truck just stopped, everything turned off steering was locked i put it in park ank had to make two attempts to start my truck up again the batterry light blinked and went off.

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the instrument panel gauges failed and provided erroneous readings. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 75,000.

Engine fire associated with electrical short in engine compartment while 2003 ford excursion 6.0 liter diesel was parked in the garage. The vehicle had not been driven for at least ten days.the resulting fire destroyed the vehicle, garage, contents and damaged the exterior of the home.

While driving vehiclelostelectrical power.whenvehicle was jump started the electrical components were inoperative.

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall sporadically and would also accelerate abnormally without warning. The contact stated that the failure could have been caused by the injection control pressure sensor. The contact believed that the 2003 model excursion should have been recalled because the 2004 model was recalled for the same failure (nhtsa campaign id number: 05v270000: electrical system:wiring). The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was 183,000 and the current mileage was 184,000.

At top of a hill i stopped completely and shifted to low gear, the wires in gear shift knob sparked loudly and began burning. Stopped car immediately, opened hood and disconnected battery. Overdrive indicator light harness is a shoddy design. Wire insulation wears through while rubbing with gear shifter selection. There is no armoring or other covering for the thin flimsy harness wires.

I have a 2003 ford excursion v-10. This vehicle is equipped with adjustable foot pedals which routinely stop working, sometimes in the fully retracted position. When this happens the drivers seat also does not work, making the vehicle un-driveable for my wife whose reach is considerably shorter than mine. Fords solution to this problem is to replace the seatat an out-of-pocket cost starting atabout $800.00, instead of tracing the bad wire or faulty control module. Internet research has shown me that this problem is apparently prevalent in the larger ford suv's manufactured from 2003-2006. I feel this defect should be corrected in a factory recall and not at the expense of vehicle owners when the problem is clearly faulty exuipment / design. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We own a 2003, diesel ford excursion. Late on 6/10 as we were going down a steep curve the engine stalled.we lost all power. It took all my husband's strength to keep the truck on the road, without power steering.the braking system was diminished.this could have been a potential disaster for our family, we had 2 children in the vehicle as well.he managed to get us somewhat offto the side of the road.the vehicle would not start.this is a very dangerous, potentially life-threatening malfunction of the ford excursion.we had the vehicle towed to the local ford for investigation and found out that thewire harness is defective and needs to be replaced.we investigated this problem and found other reports with similar description have been reported.ford needs to do something about this defect, it is a potential accident waiting to happen without warning.thank goodness the circumstances were such that we were okay.we shudder to think if this had happened while i, thewife as driving or on a busy freeway.we don't want another person to experience this, when they don't have to if the problem is corrected.it is an obvious problem.

Over the last 1 1/2 year, veh dies and wont restart or slower to start eventually will not start.all gauges go full tilt, abs light comes on, loss of all electrical systems, will not restart, just clicks, then nothing.have to disconnect and fully recharge batteries to restart,,,, then,,,, problem recursin few weeks.new batteries 11/07, cam shaft sensor replaced 3/07. Code p0603.

Our ford 2003 excursion speed control/cruise control stopped working after the recall repair has been performed.there is brake fluid leaking from the master cylinder on the wiring harness.ford states they will not repair again for no charge.my complaint is that i believe this should be taken care of at no charge to the consumer.thank you

While driving on hwy 210 my abs light came on then my interior lights went dim my head lights started to flicker then the dash board was like christmas everything started to blink fuel like miles to empty seatbelt ect.. Then loss all power steering wheel locked i had my four children in the car when we flipped in to a ditch after hitting some mail boxes.. Wth i see some of the same reports why hasn't ford fixed this problem!!!

Tamara recallwhile driving or stopped the cars power does 100% shut off. No codes or warning lights.in dec/2016 driving on a on a east on charleston blvd in nv, after pulling out of cit bank parking lot going about 45 mph the light turned red and when i went to break the pedal was hard and that's when i saw no power. By then it was too late and we were going to crash.i had no power steering or abs and i hit the car.it caused 12000 of damage to the car in front of me.no airbags deployed.only bumper and fog light damage to my truck thankfully.after that the problem didn't re accur until 2/2017 and left me stranded over night on the road and nowlast night 5/13/2017 the car was off no keys in the ignition and i saw smoke that came from where thebattery sits not sure what that was but odd it was.it has no rhythmic pattern, i have replaced the battery fuses relay and fuel pump, also checked cam shaft and crank sensor.it has spark gas air and compression. It's a very large and heavy death trap when it's not working properly other wise i love my truck and it need to be fixed

At night, in fog, in driveway, i turned on high beams, defrosters, wipers and lowered driver window. A major silver electrical circuit in the fuse breaker box overheated melted and popped. Ford's incompetent electrical engineer's design causes circuit board silver circuitry in fuse box to melt, while no circuit breakers melt/work. The circuit that melted also causes vehicle to lose use of indicators and gauges in the dash gauge panel, the alternator also fails to work and vehicle dies within a day, with no warning, while driving, due to totally dead battery. Ford has at least three different versions of fuse boxes for the 2003 excursion xlt 5.4l. Ford has no replacement fuse boxes to sell. Problem is so common on the internet, i luckily located the last used fuse box in the country, 1000 miles away from ca. Ford's only solution was a new fuse box for a newer f150costing $750 and requiring hundreds of more dollars to modify it for an f250/f350/excursion. The melting fuse box happened twice in one year at $500 per failure. Technician had to put in an external bypass wire with its own external circuit breaker. No more meltdowns in 2.5 years. Incompetent ford electrical engineers.

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion xlt. The contact stated while idling, the alternator failed and destroyed the gauge cluster. As a consequence no information is visible on the display of the instrument control panel. The dealer was contacted, and a technician concluded that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced at an expense of $500.00. No repairs have been made. The failure mileage was 90,000. The current mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion.while the vehicle was being serviced for an oil change, the dealer stated that the alternator wiring harness needed to be replaced.the alternator was overloaded from the battery being plugged up to the travel trailer.the icp sensor was replaced.the cost for parts and labor was $1,062.25.the contact stated that the vehicle did not feel right when driving uphill occasionally.the current mileage was 83,501 and failure mileage was 83,474.updated 04/02/08.*lj

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion.while driving 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning.the vehicle was able to be restarted.the failure occurred while driving in reverse or forward.the dealer stated that the camshaft position sensor failed.no repairs were made.the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 07v553000 (electrical system:software).the failure mileage was 48,000 and current mileage was 53,000.

Motor failure in hazardous situations caused by wiring harness chaffing . I had to be towed 5 times in a 4 day period. Engine quit on interstate hwy without warning.

While trying to startvehicle consumer was unsuccessful twice.a few minutes after the second try consumer came outside and found vehicle on fire. Electrical wiresmelted. Fire department arrived and extinguished the fire.there were no injuries.

Vehicle had been driven the mostof the day without any incident.towards the end of the dayvehicle caught on fire.the fire department indicated that fire was located behind the third row seat, near the spare tire.

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently to approximately 75-80 mph. The contact had to apply excessive force to the brake pedal to slow down the vehicle. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall. No further assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was an injector failure. The vehicle was not repaired. A local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,106.

The 2003 ford excursion 6.0 liter diesel, first broke down while driving home from the dealer who was working on recall items. The vehicle stalled while driving less than 2 miles from the dealer (dealer now out of business). After a while the vehicle began losing power, but not stalling while driving, especially up hills. After many attempts to clean parts, egr valve etc, it was stated that the injectors were bad. All injectors replaced. Front main leaf spring broke on the vehicle, and had to be replaced - the spring was no longer available, -the repair facility stated that this vehicle has been historically undersized, and they stopped making the original spring, because too many were breaking. We then again started experiencing a loss of power while driving - at this time my kids were driving the car, and this was particularly worrisome. My repair shop sent the vehicle to a heavy truck and diesel repair shop, specializing in ambulances. After charging me $3000 to fix my problems (various pieces an part related to the engine, fuel system, etc), the vehicle seemed to operate well. While up in cleveland for thanksgiving, the vehicle lost power on the highway - . Had to have it towed to a dealer, and rent a replacement during our vacation. The dealer said more of the fuel/engine issues and after charging me another $1500, i was able to drive home. Less than one month later, same stalling issues. The vehicle would simply stall, at low speed, high speed, under load, or no load - towed again to my repair person, and he sent it to a different diesel mechanic who told me that diesel is leaking into the engine, the injectors again need to be replaced, that it has never been fixed properly, and that this engine is notorious for having very significant problem. I am out of a vehicle, down to one for the family, and unable to afford getting it fixed - again.

Faulty exhaust manifold bolts break off and cause excessive noise, exhaust enters the drivers cabin, vehicle will not pass emissions inspection and is expensive to repair. I have 4 ford vehicles with this problem. First incident was at around 50,000 miles and 48 months after purchase. Ford refused to make repairs under any portion of the factory warranty. They claim lifetime emissions warranty doesn't cover it, nor the 100,000 powertrain warranty. I have spent over $8000.00 making repairs to these exhaust manifolds. Triton v-10 gas engine.

Spark plug blown out of 8th cylinder of v10 ford triton.

Spark plug blow out on 2003 ford excursion limited v-10 gas engine.this was spark plug on driver's side, rear of engine, closest to dashboard.pulled head and found three of the remaining four threads to be worn.considered same issue could be present on other side of engine, so replaced engine.engine had approx. 106k miles.was driving about 25 mph when problem occurred.

Crank position failure , pn f7tz12k073a,at 80,000 miles on the2003 ford excursion7.3 ltr diesel.back up sensors failedintermittantly.

2003 ford excursion will sporadically not start. When this happens,it will crank but will not fire. It will not start with a jump start. Typically, after several tries the battery will drain. At that point it will start with a jump start. It also usually starts after it sits for at least 1 day. This sporadic incident has been occurring over 6 months. I've had it checked 4 times by a trusted and capable auto servicecenter. They have run comprehensive diagnostics, reviewed every possible source of the problems, have researched every possible issue and have found nothing. Otherwise the vehicle runs well - when it starts. The latest incident was today feb. 24, 2010. This has occurred at least 10 times in 6 months.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 60 mph on normal road conditions, the check engine light illuminated intermittently and then remained illuminated.the illuminated light indicated the cam shaft was off center which created undesirable emissions. The epa was contacted who declared it should be under warranty for 5 years or 50,000 miles however the manufacturer refused repair the defect without a cost.

Spark plug blown out of 8th cylinder of v10 ford triton.

While driving about 25 mph, the engine stalled and i lost steering control.luckily no other cars were approaching because i was making a left turn on to a busy street.very dangerous.the stall has also occurred at least 5 other times, usually when decelerating when coming to a stop light.today, the abs light came on, then i heard a click and all the gauges lost power, the radio display went out.i could not restart the vehicle - only heard a click sound.after waiting an hour, the vehicle started.batteries have already been replaced by dealership a couple months ago.it was in the shop because under aggressive acceleration, the glow plug light would come on and there was no power.sensor replaced along with batteries.problem occurred again when driving it home from the shop.talked to ford and they do not seem concerned about potentially dangerous problems that dealership can not fix.

Without warning the vehicle stalled.dealer had attempted to repair the vehicle three times, but was unable to determine the cause of the problem. Dealer was processing this vehicle under the lemon law.ford removed the entire motor they had the vehicle for 1 week for the second time.their solution was that the problem was the front tires.(the consumer disagreed and stated vehicle did not stall because of bad tires.*scc

While driving at highway speed the engine shut down causing lost of power steering and power brakes. Please provide any additional information.ts

Consumer states that while driving and with no warning, thevehiclestalled , which made the vehicle difficult to control.dealer notified. Vehicle completely shut down which caused poor steering. Consumer avoided several collisions. The vehicle had been in the shop numerous times and no onewas able to repair it. *ph

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion. The contact was driving approximately 65 mph on a wet road and suddenly, excessive white smoke expelled from the rear tail pipe exhaust system.the driver pulled over to the side of the road and the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted and resumed normal operation. The engine stalled againand the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. The technician stated that the failure was contributed to a broken fuel injector which also resulted in damages to the engine. The estimated repair cost was $12,000.the vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction at this time.thefailure and current mileages were 78,000. Updated 02/01/10the consumer stated that the vehicle ran rough and it lacked power. The dealer found the #1 cylinder had a broken piston.the consumer stated the check engine light never illuminated to warn him there was problem. Updated 02/02/10.

When the engine is started, it frequently runs roughly for several seconds or more.it causes the vehicle to lurch when put in gear and has almost led to me striking vehicles parked in front and behind me when i have tried to pull out of parellel parking spaces.it has also caused me to strike my trailer as i attempt to hitch up to it and makes that process very challenging.this vehicle has done this since it was new and has been back to the dealer twice for repairs which have failed to correct the problem.

Faulty fuel injectors in the 6.0 liter diesel engine resulting in excessive amounts of diesel fuel to enter the oil crankcase. Oil level in crankcase is diluted with fuel to the extent of being measured on the dipstick by several inches and flash point of oil reduced to half of the flash point of the oil.

2003 ford excursion limited with 6.0l diesel engine.only two weeks ago, my truck began to surge in acceleration at both idle and while cruising.it has also begun to stall out at both idle and while cruising. Also the vehicle has begun to have a strong smell of diesel fuel which enters the passenger cabin at start up.my service engine light has begun to light up and i checked the light with a digital diagnostic code reader.the code was p2285 (injector control pressure sensor circuit low).the situation is quite dangerous. My wife had complained that the vehicle surged ahead and she almost hit the car in front of her while stopped at a red light.when i drove the vehicle, it also began to buck and surge in both forward and reverse. While backing out of my driveway, the vehicle accelerated rearward and only by my having my foot near the brake pedal, stopped it from racing rearward.the vehicle has also cut off while at idle and while driving now. Again, a very dangerous condition.i have seen on the ford truck enthusiast websites that i am not alone.there have been many complaints of this condition and faulty injector control pressure sensors especially in the '03 models but even later models.i am just out of warranty by a week, and ford said they could do nothing for me. I have seen what the dealers have quoted others to fix the problem up to $2000.00 for wide ranging solutions (replacing turbos, replacing all injectors, etc.)i use this truck to transport my disabled child and definitely cannot afford the dealer to rip me off for $2000.it is a $140 part and should take no longer than an hour of a technician's time to replace the sensor and pigtail harness.clearly, ford knows that they have a problem as they had a cust. Service program 03b05 and 03b06 regarding this issue for 47,000 other '03 trucks with the 6.0l engine. They said my vehicle's vin did not fall into those 47,000. Obviously it affects many more trucks than the 47,000.

Truck purchased march 31, 2003.7 days later took truck in for transmission replacement.truck was in shop for 9 days.7 days after truck was out of shop went into shop again for 23 days for defective paint job.took truck in again on august 21, 2003 for ac not working and clicking sound in transmission.still in shop.

I purchased a new ford excursion in late december of 03.it leaked oil from the engine block due to defects in its manufacture.the engine was replaced after much conflict by the dealer with a used remanufactured engine under warranty after only 11,700 miles.the used engine leaked from the rear of the block in the same way as the original engine.ford refused to replace the engine with a newmotor.the used engine suffered from erratic idle, leakage etc.it seemed destined to fail as the original engine did.i lost over $20,000 after accepting an arbitration decision.the vehicle did not make it to 13,000 miles.unbelievably poor quality and no support.simply a rip off to consumers.the vehicle was towed to the dealer once, and was driven there 4 times, totaling over 100 miles and 72 days out of service.

Smell in passenger cab.high idle--8 mph.high road idle:40 mph.stalling, surging.air conditioning loses charge.*la

Ford excursion 6.0l powerstroke diesel.*mrthe consumer has taken the vehicle to the dealership on three separate occasions because the engine failed to respond to the throttle while in drive, also a leak is coming from the rear main seal.to date ford motor company has failed to fix the problem.please respond promptly in resolving matters.the consumer wa stold the injection control pressure sensor needed to be repalced.there was a customer service program regarding the problem.

My 2003 excursion had a major turbo failure while traveling on i-10 on 12-26-03. My family and myself were traveling to houston. The vehicle only had a totalof 1,049 life to date miles. While on the interstate for about 30 to 45 minutes we hear a larger pop noise and a large drop in the engine power. I only had a flash of a dash light and it went right back off. I was trying to get off the interstate. Was driving about 25 to 35 mph trying to get to the next exit. Notice large volume of smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle.i pulled over asap after seeing this. The smoke came into the cab from the ventilation system (a/c). Pulled my daughter from the vehicle, also had my wife get out of the vehicle. At this point released the hood lock, checking the heat on the hood first. Raised the hood found fire coming from exhaust pipe from the turbo. Just smotherthe fire out to ensure it would not spread. Saw the oil around the exhaust system through out the system. The vehicle has a 6.0 diesel engine and is a 4x4 excursion. Im filing this report for the safety of others not for myself. My concern is for other people who are not exposed to this type of condition which can happen with a diesel engine. Im a vehicle superintendent of a large city transit system. And have seen fires from a turbo failures. 6.0 diesel is a international product, and the series 40 engines are prone for this type of failures. This may be the only failure that is reported for the 2003 6.0 diesel. But with only 1,049 miles this failure should have not occurred. Their should be some way to ensure the check engine light should have came on and stayed on for this condition for a failed turbo. Its at the dealer at this time getting repaired.best regards, bryan j. Garner

I have a 2003 ford excursion with the triton v10 gas engine.i was driving on the highway and heard an exhaust sound.i drove directly to pasadena ford and as i drove in a salesman told me that it was the #3 cylinder and that the spark plug had blown out of the head.he stated that it was common and he saw it all the time.i proceeded to drop off the truck and my service tech called me back and indeed the spark plug had blown out and stripped the head.he told me the repairs would cost $4,000.00.i checked with the company that tows my trucks all the time and said that it was very common and he had towed 5 or 6 in the last month with the same problem.he recommended a service company to me that hasdone almost all of universal pictures and other studio trucks, he says about 30 of them.he told me that the threads for the spark plugs were one turn to short and caused the failure.i contacted another service company and they confirmed his explanation.when i contacted pasadena ford they told me i was wrong and when i picked up my truck my service tech was actually confrontational.i explained that i would not have the truck repaired there and i would not pay $4,000.he told me that was the only way to fix the problem.i took it to the other mechanic and he fixed the one cylinder for $300.00 and i have not had any problems and neither has any of his studio trucks.i called magic ford in valencia, ca and they confirmed the defect of the head being short one thread and when i called pasadena ford again and spoke with someone else they confirmed the same thing.i was told that ford knows of the problem and has recommended the repair but ford service departments do not offer or recommend the repair.two different ford dealers confirmed the "defect" with the threads but they do not agree that it is a item that should be recalled.

When driving the vehicle stalls and also occasionally losses turbo power.has stalled at stop signs and when pulling into parking spaces.at this time you lose brakes and steering, very dangerous!!when loses turbo, it takes about a minute or two for it to kick back on.

Re:high intensity headlights and high-mounted suv/truck headlightsdear nhtsa:please do something about the proliferation of dangerous and annoying high intensity headlights, and high-mounted headlights on suv's and trucks.for anyone driving a normal car, these lights create major glare and safety problems.i suggest banning the high intensity headlights in this country (the regular halogen lights are a good balance between light generation and not blinding other drivers) and forcing the suv manufacturers to move the headlights lower on the front of suv's so that they do not blind oncoming or preceding drivers.thank you! *nlm

While driving in inclement weatherheadlights were very dim.as a result, driver nearly had a collision due to lack of visibility.

I have a 2003 ford excursion that while driving just shuts motor off and you lose steering and brakes at highway speeds. No warning at all. Ford not very concerned with it and being very elusive about whats wrong. I can not get an answer just keep telling me they are fixing it, after they fixed it it broke down on them on the test drive, and still not willing to tell me what they are doing to truck other than dont worry about it its under warranty. I guess it is not a concern to them as long their faimly is not in front of me when i cant stop vehicle due to reasons they dont want to talk about. Also asked to talk to owner of dealership but he is unavailable to even return a call. I belive this to be a very serious concern as the driver of the vehicle, it is not a good felling when it shuts down and you know that safe control of the vehicle is not there. Ford dealer says its the fuel freezing up i dont agree i have been using winterized fuel and adding howes anti-gel formula to tank at fill-ups. And vehicle has been in a heated garage and shut down three times within 5 minutes. The ford dealer is brighton ford, michigan phone is 1-810-227-1171service dept ester is rep. They told me today about it breaking down on them and that diesel tech has been off work last two days sick! well my question is whos been working on my truck then?

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was taken to a diesel garage specialist who stated that the fuel lines, filter and supply lines were all blocked and the fuel tank liner was damaged. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 74,000.

Engine "skips", getting progressively worse, fuel consumption rises dramatically. After first repair it quit entirely on us leaving us stranded on i-75 south of atlanta. It has now been in the shop three times for this problem, and we have a little over 3,000 miles on the vehicle.

My 2003 ford excursion with a 6.0l diesel has been surging and will stall suddenly and without warning.it has caused several near collisions. The dealer had to replace the icp sensor.apparently this was recalled in 2004 models and newer but not the 2003 model.i feel that i have fallen through the cracks because ford didn't start installing the 6.0l in the 2003 model until late in the model years.seems like they forgot about me and my truck has the exact same dangerous condition as the 2004 models.

Garner

The 6.8 and 5.4 engines have been failing due to defective valve train cam followers. I am having the 3rd engine installed in my excursion. The cam followers are failing and spitting them out causing catstropic engine failure. I have been in contact with anthony bariana who works for holman distribution in new jersey @ 1-800-521-1223 ext 305 and he confirmed that the 6.8 and 5.4 engines have had the same problem as my truck at an abnormally high rate. Mt truck is currently at matthews paoli ford 610-644-4700 and the general manager bryan lippincott told me that they have replaced 6 state farm truck engines in 2.00 months 6.8 liter same as mine identical problem. Ford has done nothing from what i see doing some research but this is an ongoing problem and ford has done nothing to address the problem and made no attempt to find the root cause and have a fix so this will stop costing consumers thousands of dollars. I was driving on my street and without warning the engine started to shake so i shut it off and had it towed to the dealer matthews ford located in paoli pa.

The overdrive light come on and off and my truck loses power and if you at a stop light the truck will cut off. When i take to the shop they that the transmission is going bad but it may be able to be on a recall.

Total transmission failure.

This could have been a big problem had the fire continued. My husband fixed the wiring after we were told nothing could be done because of the vehicles age.

Brakes are marginal for stopping this vehicle. When stopping or stopped on an incline (+/- 10 %) the brake pedal travels to a point even with or below the height of the accelerator pedal. This condition causes the engine to accelerate as the brake pedal is depressed to stop or hold the vehicle. The dealer has checked it thoroughly and finds that all systems and components are ok. I don't agree - it is an unsafe condition and exists on my daughters same type of vehicle. *la

Vehicle experienced a problem with the front ball joints. This vehicle had 60,000 miles on it. Owner took the vehicle to the dealer for a check up on the brakes when it was discovered that the ball joints had worn out, and there was plenty of movement with in the wheel. Dealer replaced left front lower ball joint.and machined the front rotors.

The front brake rotors go out about every 1500 miles.i cost over 350 a shot to have them fixed.the entire vehile shimmers and pulls.

The vehicle has a steering issue. It will pull to the right mostly but occasionally to the left. So you spend the entire drive correcting the wheel to try to keep the vehicle in the road. Towing is impossible with this issue because it causes the trailer to go in to a snaking motion because of the constant steering correction. This occurs when ever the car is in motion.

The contact owns a 2003 ford excursion. While reversing the vehicle, the steering wheel failed to operate. The contact noticed that the steering wheel bolts were fractured. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 235,000.

We received a rental vehicle from hertz, it was a 2003 ford excursion. When the woman dropped it off she told my husband to be careful, it pulls to the right. Last week my husband was driving on a straight road about 40 mph, when it started pulling to the right, he applied the brakes and he tried to steer to the left but it pulled to the right even more and he ended up in a ditch, after he got out it went through a steel fence and ended in a cow pasture. Something caused it to swerve to the right and cause this accident. The body shop said there is too much damage to tell what could of caused it.*la

No codes or warning lights.in dec/2016 driving on a on a east on charleston blvd in nv, after pulling out of cit bank parking lot going about 45 mph the light turned red and when i went to break the pedal was hard and that's when i saw no power. It's a very large and heavy death trap when it's not working properly other wise i love my truck and it need to be fixed
