While driving home from work in heavy traffic, the drivers side air bag deployed, striking me in the face, breaking my eye glasses and completely obstructing my vision with the inflated air bag. I slowed some by gauging my speed by the cars next to me (4 lanes of traffic, 2 each direction). I kept pushing on the air bag with one hand, trying to deflate it quicker, so that i would be able to see in front of me. When i finally got the air bag deflated enough to see out the windshield, i was able to get over into the right hand lane and pull aside. I removed the fuse to the horn as it was shorted out when the air bag deployed and continued on to my home. I contacted ford motor co. And they issued a letter requesting a dealer to remove the rcm and send it to them. I have been unable to get a dealer to do this. Ford now wants to do no more. I have researched on the internet and discovered that there a lot a people who have had the same thing happen to them with this model. I remained calm when mine went off and avoided an accident. If this were to happen to someone who startles easy, this could result in a fatality.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. While driving approximately 65 mph over a bump in the road, the front driver and passenger side air bags deployed and a beeping noise was heard. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to red mccombs ford (210-996-2678, located at 8333 w ih 10, san antonio, tx 78230) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 79,526.

On august 27th of 2009 i was driving my 2007 ford escape while correcting my children in the back seat i hit a wet spot in the road and lost control of my vehicle i rolled 2 times and stopped with a front end collision. The seat belt did not catch causing me to bash my face into the steering wheel at least two times. The air bags also did not work either. Because of the faulty equipment it caused me to break my neck in 3 places and spending 2 weeks in the hospital having to have surgery with a metal rod and two screws....because of the defaulted equipment i still suffer from permanent nerve and muscle damage and chronic pain.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.while driving approximately 45 mph, the contact's wife was rear ended and crashed into the preceding vehicle.she was forced into oncoming traffic and was struck head on by another vehicle.the air bags failed to deploy.the vehicle was destroyed and a police report was filed.the contact's wife was injured.the current and failure mileages were 17,500. Our father's vehicle struck a brick building at approximately 50 miles per hour(front / head on ) in 2007 ford escape. He suffered severe injuries (fractured neck, back, multiple rib fractures , and died as a result 2 weeks later. The airbags did not deploy on impact. What is our next step? we researched several other instances on this site, reports of airbags not working? please advise on next step.

I was traveling north and this person was going south, crossed the centerline and slammed into me, pushing me between two trees and totaling my vehicle.it was a head on collision and my airbag did not deploy and my seat belt did not restrain me from slamming my forehead into the steering wheel.i contacted ford motor company and they told me they would do nothing and send no one to see why the air bag did not deploy.i ended up being brought by ambulance to the hospital where x-rays showed my neck was sprained and i had a scrape to my foreheadfrom the steering wheel.

Since i purchase this vehicle i am having water leaks problems in the driver side i brought for repair5 times for the same issue company says they cant find no water leaks because they are not doing the water leak test properly, please help me with this situation.

My daughter weighs 90 lbs. When she sits in the front seat of our 2007 ford escape, the airbag turns on and off intermittently, depending on minor adjustments of her posture.the dealer has seen it and says that there is nothing they can do about it, as it is a federally regulated setting.so i guess we'll just never know if my daughter will have a functional air bag in the event of a crash.

Sinc e purchasingthe vehicle air bag light went on and off, andthere was a smell of gas throughout the vehicle.taken to ford delership in march, 2007, but dealership didnotfindthe cause of the problem.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.the contact stated that she does not weigh enough for the passenger side air bag on indicator to remain illuminated.the dealer did not know how to disable the air bag on-off switch assembly.the fuel system and powertrain were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 10,000.

Car stalled while in motion on city street. Lost all power and would not restart without jump.

Just bought the car...i was driving from l.a. To palm springs ...after about an hour on the road the car just stalled while driving on the freeway....i pulled over and started the car again it was fine for 10 min then did it again. Started again and drove the rest of the way at 40- 50 miles an hour with hazards on. Problem seemed to stop as long as i drove at this speed and was not on an incline of any type.car pulls at times but mostly drives fine if i'm not on the freeway and if i don't drive over an hour at 60mph. Otherwise it stalls out at unexpected moments on freeways. A very unreliable vehicle and very dangerous!

2002 ford escape.consumer writes in regards to abs recall notice.the consumer took his daughters vehicle to the dealer, after receiving a recall notice in the mail. The consumer informed the service advisor, the abs light had been coming on and going off for a while. Upon the return of the vehicle, the abs light was on continuously. The consumer returned to the service desk and reported the issue and he was informed he could leave the vehicle for diagnosis, but there would be a fee of $ 130.00. The consumer refused and then took the vehicle to a local repair shop. The local repair shop informed the consumer, the problem they were encountering was an abs code b1676 which was a result of no electrical power to the abs module. The repair shop stated, because the light would no longer go out, that the current situation was caused by performing the work on the recall.they also explained, that the recall that was performed was to add power to the junction block to supply electricity to the abs module in such a way the vehicle would not catch fire, and that power was not being supplied to two of the wires at all. The repair shop discovered there were two incorrect splices performed at the dealer. Apparently, there were two splices that should have been made and the mechanic only put a heat-shrink tape on the connection and did not electrically connect the wires. After the repair of the two splices, the shop found that one of the two wires supplying power to the abs module still only had three volts at one of the connectors.the shop found additional recalls as well. After inspecting the harness per the recall notice, he found the insulation on some of the wires damaged and one of the wires was corroded internally causing the low voltage problem. He also noted that the inspection cover on the connector had been removed for inspection and the master cylinder cap looked newer and not the original. Additionally, when he removed the connector from the abs unit, there was no grease applied in the cavity like the

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that while in park, the horn independently activated. The head lamps and dome lamps also independently activated. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the door ajar was displayed across the message board even though all doors were locked and secured. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Throttle body will not drive rev or go. Gas pedal does not move. Cold weather and it does this more.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. While driving at any speed, the warning indicators on the instrument panel illuminated and eventually turned off without warning. The failure recurred multiple times. The mechanic diagnosed that the rear door auto lock malfunctioned and burned out the computer system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

The alarm goes off at all hours every day for no apparent reason while locked & parked. The dealership had no way to fix it unless the horn was disarmed. I feel that is unsafe to have no horn.

White parked with the alarm on, the alarm goes off for no reason & the lights continue to flash possible running down the battery. This happens almost daily, even more than once a day while at work. Sometimes too far away for me to hear the alarm.

I was told by local dealer the the drivers door and passenger rear door had faulty door lock/ door senor issues. I noticed on line other year escape had same issues but see no recall.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning.when the failure occurred, the steering column locked and prevented the contact from controlling the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they repaired the torque converter.the failure recurred several months later.the dealer is currently diagnosing the vehicle to determine the cause of the failure.all of the remedies to date have been insufficient in correcting the failure.the failure mileage was 21,731 and current mileage was 22,000. The transmission was jerking and shifting hard. When coming to a stop it made a sound like twisting metal and the brakes popped and jerked, when accelerating in a curve. There was no response from the vehicle when the accelerator was applied. The vehicle also pulled to the left. The consumer also stated the vehicle stalled while driving 70 mph.the overdrive light illuminated for no reason, the automatic door locks did not work properly, they would lock and unlock at will while the consumer was backing up. Updated 02/05/09.

The ford escape,4 cylinder front drivers door latch and passenger rear door latch faulty causing door lock alarm to sound the horn various times of the day with vehicle parked and locked by key. Has occurred in the last 4 months (june, july aug, sept 2015) some days multiple alarms then a dry spell then at 10 am and then at 3 pm same day or different day. All while parked in the driveway.

For years my alarm goes off randomly, during the day to all hours of the night. When i'm driving the car the light inside will go on and off and on dashboard will say door ajar. I've called ford, i've asked the dealer and i've asked mechanics not with ford. Since the alarm is built into engine it can not be disabled. Only option is to pull horn wire so my neighbors will not be annoyed by my horn and alarm soundings at all hours. I've researched for years how to try to fix this issue, i've changed my car battery, i've changed battery in remote...nothing is working. Now the dealer is telling me there's a problem with the latch. Had my car in there many times for different things, but i refuse to pay 800. Per latch in the vehicle, since they're not even really sure it's a latch or which latch would be the problem. I'm very leary about disconnecting my horn for safety issues, but i'm let with no other choice. From what i understand this has been an ongoing issue with the ford escape for years and years. Now it's a safety issue not just annoying to my family and the neighbors.

Within a month of purchasing vehicle, mileage 67,000, complete brake system failure. Could have been fatal and will be if not corrected. Many exact complaints found online. Vehicle failed to stop coming to light. Had to pull off the side of the road into a wooded area for the vehicle to stop. Felt like vehicle was sliding on road. Later realized it was a abs system failure not sliding. Abs light is on. Brake system needs service light on. Emergency brake light stays on.approximately 75% of the time, when first driving vehicle, only the service brake display is on. The vehicle will begin to buck/stutter, steering wheel shakes, and traction control warning light illuminates. After accelerating, that stops and returns to what i described.above. I read since there were no fatalities reported ford will not recall. I am certain there have been fatalities due to this problem, just not identified.

We took our 2007 ford escape (aprox 60,000 miles) on a road trip from omaha ne to st. Louis mo on 3/10/13 and arrived with no issues. On our return trip we drove about 100 miles until the car stopped on the interstate. The vehicle completely shut down and all of the warning lights came on at the same time. We were able to coast to the shoulder safely but were unable to restart the vehicle. We had aaa tow the vehicle about 30 miles to the closest town and aaa approved mechanic.when the mechanic looked at the vehicle they determined that the vehicle had burned through all of the oil and was completely empty causing the engine to seize up. There were no warning lights indicating low oil up until this point.i had recently had my oil changed about 8 week and less than 1000 miles prior to this incident and there were no leaks so it seems very improbably that the vehicle would have used 4 qts of oil in that time. I contacted ford and the vehicle is just out of the warranty period and they are unwilling to assist. In my research it appears that this may be a common occurrence on this vehicle at about 60-70k miles and may warrant additional research. I am currently attempting to get my vehicle transported the 350 miles home to get a second opinion and repaired. The current estimates i received for repair are between $3,500-6,000. The door ajar light comes and beeps while the overhead light comes on and off while i am driving for no reason.sometimes it continues for a few minutes and other times it goes on and on until i stop the car and slam all the doors on my car shut.my car alarm also goes off all by itself for no reason, probably resulting from this same problem.i understand from online posts that this is a common occurrence with ford vehicles.this problem should be addressed by ford.

Door ajar activates constantly setting off the car alarm and killing the car battery. This happens while car is sitting stationary, and or moving (while driving) this has been going on since the day the car was purchased in 4-2007, and it happens quite often, and is happening up to the day this was submitted (8-25-2016. This is a very well known issue with this car and ford...yet nothing is being done about it. You say it isn't a safety issue, but if you go to ford or a dealer to have the alarm and door switch disconnected they say they cant due to a safety issue.

Accelerator pedal is sticking badly and sometimes is very hard to press down. Generally happens when either the engine is cold or the outside air temperature is below 60. It gets so bad at times i have to really stomp on it and that, of course, causes the vehicle to lurch forward.

My vechicle caught fire in my front yard over night sometime in the rear trunk of my suv and ford dealership and ther cause of orgin has left it unexplained.

No warning for hybrid battery malfunction. On 07082016 the ford dealership informed me that the hybrid battery in my ford escape has a malfunction code p0a81 and the battery pack cooling fan was not working.there are no warning messages or icon lights to inform me (the owner) that the battery is malfunctioning. Documentation:#1 autozone myzone health report powered by innova perform on 07052016 and #2 johnson brothers ford-lincoln invoice 192231, 07072016. Incident - 07032016, the warning message appeared "service the emission" and the engine light appeared. The ford escape was still drive-able and otherwise was operating normal with the message and engine light on. The hybrid battery was working as expected. 07052016, the ford escape was taken to autozone to get a reading for the message which was p0128. Ford dealership estimated $600 to repair the timer. 07062016, at about 7:00 a.m. I took the escape in for the timer repair. The representative said that they will verify/validate the issue and will contact me before repairs are performed. 07072016, at about 4 p.m. Ford dealership representative contacted me to pick up the escape and that they had verified/validated that it was the timer and has repaired the timer. At about 5:40 p.m. I paid $554.30 for the timer repair and picked up my vehicle. Because it was close to the dealership closing time no one reviewed the charges with me. While driving home the vehicle didn't pick up speed and the gas pedal was stiff. First, the vehicle has been regularly maintained per the normal maintenance schedule.while driving on 03/09/13, noticed the abs dash light stayed lit.the 4wd dash light also started to blink intermittently.on 03/11/13 i called the local ford dealer and scheduledan appointment to have the problems diagnosed.the vehicle was diagnosed with a broken tone ring along with marginal brake pads.reportedly the abs and 4wd sensors are interconnected. Reportedly, the front rotors had to be replaced because they were too pitted to be turned.questioned the service department about service bulletins or recalls, none were list on the escape concerning this issue.according to one of the service managers, the problem with the tone ring is not a common issue.while waiting on he repairs, i checked the internet and found that this is a common problem with repeat failures of the part.i presented this info to the service department without any relief or recourse other that i would probably have to pay to have this done again.another note, the repairs have a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty.if the defective part has to be replaced, the warranty goes back to the original date of install. This appears to be a common problem with possible serious repercussions which is not being addressed by ford.

Many of the cases include the illegal activities of ford and their neglect to handle any of the issues. One of the cases included a teenage girl having the same vehicle as myself.her parents had reported the issues to ford and they never fixed the problem(s) to make this one story of many short...the girls car broke down while she was driving home and from the case her phone did not have reception. A man was driving by and she hailed him to pull over and he ended up raping the girl and murdering her. The family was blamed and ford was not properly charged.there were other cases i studied that involved ford that include mostly the transmissions lighting on fire and killing the individuals. This is beyond a reasonable doubt that ford needs to be face judgment under the supreme court for this gross negligence. They have let several innocent people die while they are pocketing millions of dollars. Every time i have contacted the dealership or gone to them in person they try to raise prices on simplistic parts that you can buy cheaper online or at walmart. They charge fees for every single thing; even if your fully covered with insurance it still is not much of a difference.they have hidden importing parts from third world countries and it is about time that they are exposed for all their misconduct; as i do not find it in any way for anyone nor a company to let innocent people be murdered. It is a felony under the law of the united states of america.the court cases date back decades, if their workers could not fix the "issues" years ago and they even had issues the last year with several teenagers going to their prom that resulted in death as well then i would state beyond a reasonable doubt ford company should go out of business and make sure they pay every penny back to all the victims including myself and others that purchased their toy cars.

Brake failed the regen system failure and abs brake failure caused an almost serious accident $7000 for repairs for something that has numerous problems from 1000s of others having the same issue it is a 2007 ford escape 2 wheel drive hybrid

Car was parked. Rear window exploded and burn marks were seen on the glass.thus far our cost to replace the window and wiper blade motor and blade has been 460 dollars.we filed an insurance claim but the window repair came in under the deductible.the wiper motor was considered to be wear and tear and thus was not covered.i hope a recall will be issued to correct this problem since it seems to be a common occurrence according to posts we have read on the internet.

When it's hot engine shuts off very dangerous when driving on highway

After only 2 months of purchase o/d light went on and transmission shot!!! absolutely heart wrenching as i have no way to work now...

I was driving on a mountain highway just south of granby colorado when engine lights came on and engine stopped.i was able to pull over.tried to restart engine to no avail.then steam started coming out from under the hood.when i opened the hood, there were yellow spots all over and the coolant container had started to melt and deform from the heat.i called my aaa road service and was towed into granby to mountain valley auto and truck repair.he took pictures of the readings from the computer and has those.he said he had never seen an engine get so hot before and no warning.my son has a mechanic friend who called someone at ford and was told they were aware that the ford escape had an issue with overheating just as my vehicle did with no warning while in mountain driving.after the event, my son called the ford dealer where we bought the car and they told him they weren't aware of any problems.we had to sell the car for junk.you can obtain computer readings from mountain valley auto & truck repair, granby colorado.

Pulled away after a stop sign and reach a speed of about 35 - 40 miles an hour when the engine just shut down.there was no warning and i was fortunate that i was able to pull off the road safely.after the engine cooled down i was able to limp home.the next day i took it into the local ford dealer and was told the mecs cooling pump and fans had failed.i cannot image what would have happened if i had been on a freeway when this happened.this is a very dangerous defect with the ford hybrid model.to make matters worse, ford says i am 400 miles past my warranty coverage and it would cost me over $1,200 to fix.

My son was driving home from work.put the car in park to stop and clean the windows and when he put it back into gear it would not go, engine just revved.my ex drove it back to my house in 1st gear and my son tried taking it to school the next day.no power.stalled twice on him in a mile.ex towed it back to my house.from everything i've read and heard, this seems to be a common occurrence with the ford escapes.i had to borrow $3400 from my boss to have the transmission fixed so my kids have a car to get to school.i would like to join any class action lawsuit again ford.they are aware of the problems with the transmissions, yet they do nothing to fix the problem or cover the cost of repairing them.

Traveling on highway. Indicator comes on and says "stop safely now". Then the engine cuts out. You then have to hope you can get to the shoulder. Once you turn the key off, you can start up the engine. This happened 6 times. How can a car company program this kind of unsafe procedure into a car.

2007 ford escape. Consumer writes in regards to engine failure, overheated then blew out.*as

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. During cold weather temperatures, the accelerator pedal would become stuck. The contact would have to depress the brake and the accelerator pedals simultaneously in order to resume normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

O/d light came on suddenly. Was driving at 40mph.i could feel it dropping out of gear, being slow to accelerate and it would revperiodically.i called ford corporate, they took down the complaintbut other than that; nothing. We did a simple google search'ford escape 2007 o/d light' and immediately saw at least sixtycomments that all detailed the exact same problem (which is catastrophic failure. The rep from ford had never heard of this before, which is odd considering the number of people who all have ford escape's & all are 07.something is very wrong & a recall should've issued.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph uphill, the engine started making a loud banging sound. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who stated that there was an engine failure.the vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

Throttle body will not drive rev or go. Gas pedal does not move. Cold weather and it does this more.

Had been driving for 4 hours at 70 mph, got off interstate to use restroom and while exiting; when applying the brakes, the engine shut off.vehicle placed in park, restarted, placed in drive and again immediately the engine shut off.had to have it towed and i was 2 hours from home. Ford dealer said it was computer and updated some things and it worked fine for 2 months.again on 10/13/12 was getting off exit near home and when applying brakes, the engine shut off.same thing.had to have it towed to ford dealer where i was told it was the "torque converter" locking up.after vehicle sat for a week; it is now drivable again but still needs to have this replaced and transmission too due to this problem.i don't have that money just lying around.after doing research, i discovered this is a common problem with this vehicle from prior years past but obviously ford has never fixed the problem.i have done regular maintenance on vehicle while i have owned it for the last 4 years, i have taken very good care of it.this is ridiculous; if ford knows this is an issue and actually sends out "service bulletins" on this veryissue and tells dealers exactly how to fix it then they should pay for it.this is ridiculous. This vehicle is only 5 years old.please help.

Loss of major engine power and loss ofacceleration when pushing the gas pedal to the floor. Has no acceleration power anymore like it did a year ago to now. Replace all spark plugs andignition coils with now new acceleration power at all.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact noticed a leak coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 134,567. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact was driving approximately 25 mph when the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted however, the failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer twice. The fuel pump, fuel pump module and battery were replaced. The failure recurred after the repair was performed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was awaiting diagnosis of the vehicle.there was a concurrent investigation associated with the failure under nhtsa action number: dp12006 (engine). The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate and then stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was informed that the engine failed due to lack of engine oil. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 102,000.

Gas pedal sticks in near and below freezing weather.

I own a 2007 ford escape, in which i purchased as a new vehicle in 2007. Within 500 miles of that purchase date, i ended up bringing the vehicle back to my dealership (prestigue ford) dallas, texas for repairs. The trouble was that the ac went completely out. Due to the warranty they repaired it. On 5/4/11, the ac went out again in which i sent it to an automobile ac specialist which diagnosed the problem as a ac compressor with clutches out. My vehicle is less than 4 years old and has 66,000 on it. There is no way that the ac would have gone out this early in its life. I would like to speak with someone to report this issue as it may be a trend towards a recall. I can be reached at [xxx]. I should not expect to pay for a $1200.00 expenditure on a 2007 vehicle with less than 66,000 miles.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Fluid leaking on drive under engine.turns out to be replaced t cooler per tsb09-09-04. Barely made it under 36,000 mile warrenty.

On 3/19/2011 i was driving my 2007 ford escape, pulled into a parking space, and it died.no dash board indicators (check engine or oil light) went on prior to this problem.i tried to start it, but it wouldn't turn over.it was towed to a local dealer wherein they indicated the engine had to be replaced, a $6,400.00 cost to me if my extended warranty wouldn't cover it.they want my oil change receipts, i only have a handful, i don't keep the receipts.if i don't give them 10-12 oil change receipts, the extended warranty won't cover a thing.before even looking at the engine, the dealer and ford company customer service blamed me for the problem.i've had two other cars in the last 20 years, both kept about 10 years each and never had an engine problem.thing of it is that i never had a problem with my car until i brought it in to the dealer approximately january 29, 2011, when they removed my whole front end to replace a ring toner flush my brakes and replace brake pads.i know my dash board indicators were working then because the abs light went on and i brought it in the following day.not sure if dismantling my front end had anything to do with the engine problem or not.if so, wouldn't the dealer be responsible?

I was driving and all of a sudden my 2007 ford escape starting making noise.. I pulled to a gas station where we found no oil in the truck. Not at anytime did my oil light or even my engine come on... My engine is blown. Now i am going to try to get my warranty to get it fixed.. That should be a "fun" experience.

2007 ford escape air conditioner failure. Smoke billowing from under the hood. Hot air emitting from vents.

The passenger rear right brake/tail bulb went out, when i went to replace the bulb i found that the socket was burned, very dark brown splotchy areas, and had a distinctive odor. I checked the left, driver side and found that the socket on that brake/tail light was also turning brown at the pin site. It concerns me that i am finding this issue to be a consistent problem around the internet.

There has been multiple instances where the gas peddle cannot be depressed. No matter the amount of pressure applied.it has occurred both at a standstill and while in motion.i have read its a possible throttle body problem not sure.first occurrence was during cold weather however it has occurred during warm temps ie 85degree outside temperature. It happens and then there is no problems for a long time maybe months, however if it were to occur during a merge this could be very dangerous and possibly deadly.please look into this as there is already multiple recalls on fords acceleration systems in this model from prior years.

Have 2007 ford escape.the gas pedal sticks in cold weather (40 degrees and lower).the pedal is fine upon startup and for a few miles, but then with no warning, it sticks to the point it can not be pressed.i weigh 250 lbs and i can not put enough pressure on it press it down.no accidents so far, because i live in a rural area, but it is still very dangerous.i've had to wave other drivers around me until being able to pull the car over and restart it to clear up the problem.i've had the throttle body cleaned in the past, and that seems to fix the problem for a very short while.

The suv is a 2007 ford escape, purchased in december of 2006. Didn't have any problems until jan. 2009. The accelerator pedal sticks in cold weather. Every day after having started the car. Even though the engine has warmed up. You can start down the road and then suddenlythe accelerator sticks, will not depress. Sometimes it might depress and you think its ok and then it does it again. You can be in traffic and cannot proceed. Doesn't stop until the car has been running for atleast 10-15 minutes. In warmer weather ( fromapril-december) it doesn't happen.

My vehicle is a 2007 ford escape xlt. For the past several months when i try to gas up the vehicle i can only put in a small amount of gasoline.it appears that the gas filler pipe cover (a little flap that is mounted on the inside of the filler pipe) is gone.because it is mounted from the inside, the only place it could have gone is into the filler pipe which causes a blockage so that gas backs up and spills out.it takes about 15 minutes to fill the gas tank with a constant auto turn off of the fuel pump. On and off, on and off with the gas pump.do not go to a full serve station as they just stick the pump in and wait on someone else... At almost $4.00 per gallon you do not want to pay for all the fuel that just goes on the ground!!!this creates both a hazardous and environmental issue at the gas station!!ford should issue a recall and fix these things!!!

Throttle sticks, usually when cold but it has stuck when warm. The gas pedal won't depress without pushing it hard to overcomebeing stuck. This has caused mea few scares when pulling out into traffic and it wont move as it should. This has happened many time including this morning.

Throttle body will not drive rev or go. Gas pedal does not move. Cold weather and it does this more.

2007 ford escape gas pedal sticks when temperature is below 40 degrees or so.pedal requires extra force to engage, then vehicle will leap forward from the extra gas.safety is compromised by this.accelerator sticks every time the pedal is pressed when temperature is cold. *ln

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. When the vehicle was cold, the fuel does not circulate properly and caused a delay in the accelerator pedal.the dealer stated that water was reaching the throttle body and could cause problems with the vehicle speed control. The delay could also cause the throttle to stick, the vehicle to loose power or to hesitate when the accelerator pedal was engaged. The contact is concerned about the safety risk since the vehicle could potentially loose power while driving in traffic. The failure mileage and current mileages were unknown when the complaint was filed.

Gas pedal sticking (up) in cold weather condition. Unable to push pedal down at all.

Ford escape 2007, approx. 30,000 miles, gas pedal sticking, can not accelerate properly and smoothly. Continually occurs under cold conditions, dangerous with ice on roads when slow acceleration is needed . Cannot accelerate quickly when needed which is also dangerous.

Sinc e purchasingthe vehicle air bag light went on and off, andthere was a smell of gas throughout the vehicle.taken to ford delership in march, 2007, but dealership didnotfindthe cause of the problem.

My daughter, julie mayo, was driving on hwy 280 in birmingham, al when she approached a stopped vehicle on the highway.she was unable to stop the ford escape to avoid the crash even after applying brakes. A subsequent inspection by a certified mechanic at joe hudson's indicated the throttle was stuck and the engine was running at 4000 rpm following the collision.damages to the escape were estimated at $5700 including frame damage, therefore the vehicle was declared a total loss by state farm.the current ford escape recall notice for this problem does not extend to include 2007 models. It should.

The gas pedal continuously sticks or locks in position after i have stopped either to make a left turn or right turn.this is very dangerous, especially when i am making a left turn and there is usually on coming traffic.i am very nervous to make left turns for this reason.someone will get killed or seriously injured due to this issue.

When the temperature outside is below 32 degrees, the gas pedal sticks.this occurs when you attempt to accelerate.this is dangerous if you are pulling out into traffic.once the pedal sticks, sometimes if you stomp on it, it will release.they have recalled 2001-2004 escape for this issue.ford is not acknowledging this issue for the 2007 escape.

Gas pedal is stuck

Sensor light keeps comingon near the gas cap

In cold weather for the first 2 or 3 stops the gas pedal would not mash down.it stuck up.it would be ok after that.never a problem in summer.ford checked it and could not find a problem.i contacted ford and they did not have an answer to the problem.i felt like i was not the only one with this problem.finally in april of this year it stuck and i had to have the throttle replaced, a $383.79 cost to me.i contacted ford and told them i thought they should pay for the repair since it was a safety issue.they evidentially thought not because they would not take care of it.when you stop and start off and the pedal sticks and you are in the middle of an intersection and your car won't move, that is a safety issue.my son was driving in texas and stopped behind another car at a red light and started to ease up when the pedal stuck.he patted it a time or two and it jerked forward and almost hit the car in front of us.this happened the whole time i had the car until april of this year and after 2 or 3 stops, when it warmed up, it was ok.

The contact owns a 2007 ford edge. The contact received nhtsa campaign number: 14v682000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The gas pedal would stick intermittently, and more pressure needed to be applied to the pedal in order to get the car to accelerate. At one point the gas pedal completely stuck, and i was not able to accelerate the car at all on the highway, forcing me to pull the car over to the side of the road and turn it off to be towed. A mechanic was able to confirm this issue is caused by a malfunction in the throttle body. Ford previously recalled throttle body's in escapes from 2009-2012, but my car is 2007 and does not apply. However, because it is experiencing the same malfunction, and has serious safety implication, i believe the 2007 ford escape model should be added to fords current consumer satisfaction program 13n03.

2007 ford escape 4 cly suv. The front motor hood latch has popped open 4 times in the last year while driving on the highway.

Gas pedal sticksand it wont let me accelerate from time to time.it happen most of the time in the early morning when its still cool outside. Also the rear driver side door lock sticks from time to time.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the vehicle's alarm sounded on its own. The vehicle was taken to courtesy ford (located at 3921 w river dr, davenport, ia 52802, (563) 326-4011) where it was diagnosed that the front passenger side door latch needed to be replaced, but the part was not available for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

The parking brake on our 2007 ford escape does not work.we took the vehicle to tiffany ford on february 18, 2009 to be adjusted. The vehicle has 26,000 miles on it. The service manager stated afterward the brakes were in good shape and he did not understand why the emergency was not adjusting. Within 2 weeks the brake has become loose again and we will be taking it back tothe dealer for a second time.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the transmission malfunctioned and the vehicle was unable to exceed 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to a dealer within the first week that it was purchased where the contact was advised to keep the vehicle in overdrive and not the regular drive gear. The manufacturer was not made aware of the malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift from park. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000. The vin was unavailable.

Could not get speed no faster than 35 to 45 miles, sounded as if it was stalling in neutral, sounded as if i was gunning the gas to make it go, but i wasn't. Riding real rough at times with a rattlingnoise when slowing down getting ready to stop, sounded asif the axle or something was going to drop in the middle of the street. When turning either way or while riding straight forward, sounded as if the tires were rubbing against something, it also let out a gassy smell of fumes that was very dangerous to inhale. The fumes smell like the gas fumes you smell in your house, like the car was going to blow up anytime.....and they want you to patronize american made cars well i'm fed up, they need a recall on this malfunction (p t u) power transfer unit is what they diagnosed it to be, i had to pay quite a bit of money to get this fix, this could be unsafe, if this car was all together stop or the axle falls out in the middle of the highway.plus the stop engine light didn't even detect this, and it should have, i'm really fired up about this i tried to put my vin # at the top and it wouldn't let me.

Was driving on interstate without any issues as i was exiting interstate and stationary at red light vehicle begain to shake and vibrate making a grinding nose and vehicle stalled. Restarted vehicle and in motion was fine as i begin to slow down and stop to make left turn on to my road vehicle again begain to shake and vibrate and almost stalled again. Problem as been be diagnosed as bad transmission.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle started making a loud clunking noise. The contact merged to the side of the road in order to inspect the vehicle and noticed that fluid was leaking out of the transfer case. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the transfer case was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 75,000.

The contact owned a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of power without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to the replacement transmission. The vehicle was repaired. A few days after the repair, while driving 45 mph, the contact and driver heard an abnormal noise and odor. Smoke and flames were visible behind the vehicle. The vehicle was able to be pulled over to the side of the road and evacuated. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard where it was deemed destroyed. There were two injuries, one that required medical attention. The driver suffered from smoke inhalation and nerve damage. The passenger suffered from rib pain and smoke inhalation. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.

While driving escape at approx 70mph the overdrive sensor ses light came on and engine was making a whining noise.stopped and borrowed a scan tool from a local garage we know.codes p0741 and p1744 for tcc were found.drove home approx 40 miles. Escape was shifting poorly after exiting expressway.limped vehicle home.next day 11/14/2020 attempted to take escape to mechanic.escape had total transmission failure after about 5 minutes. Odometer reads approx 110,500 milesescape was towed to accurate transmission in bellevue, mi for possible repair. Diagnosis was that the vehicle needed a total rebuild of the transmission for $2900.heard that some ford escapes were recalled for transmission issues and wondered about 2007 ford escape issues.

I was parked on the side of the road, got out of my vehicle, when i turned around my vehicle was heading toward me tried to stop itran me over and then hit a tree , i receivedinjury to my legs, also had to have my car fixed on the left front end. I would like to have ford look into this complaint, also i feel i should be reimbursed, for my injuries and the cost for me to fix this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the transmission failed to respond to acceleration attempts. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The transmission was replaced due to internal damage. In 2010, the transmission was rebuilt by an authorized dealer. In addition, the accelerator pedal seized on numerous occasions and after repeated attempts, the pedal released. The contact performed the repair which consisted of cleaning the throttle body. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the power steering would intermittently fail while driving or stopped. While driving at various speeds, the steering wheel would become tight and difficult to turn. If the vehicle was stopped, the steering wheel would intermittently lock up. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the power steering fluid was checked and all of the lines were flushed. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 42,000. Updated 08/01/11*ljthe dealer informed the consumer the vehicle needed a steering, rack and lower control arm. Six months after the vehicle was purchased, the transmission had to be replaced.

When i was driving home from work, had to stop at a red light and when the light was green my car did not go. Was able to get it towed and found out the the transmission was out. Only had 80,000miles on it. Does ford know about the transmissions?

I was driving to a friends house and 2nd gear and fourth gear started not to engage only 2nd gear would at 4,000 rpms. 4th gear will not engage at all the car has only 119,235 miles and i have kept good service on it. I had the fluid flushed and still did not fix the problem. I spoke to a person that said that they will try to flash the computer. Hope it works i also hope that i don't end up in an accident on the road because the gear lunches into 2nd causing the truck to jerk forward.

2007 ford escape - at 42,644 miles the car would slow down and not pick up speed, i had it towed to the ford dealership. They replaced the regulator valve..... At 47,819 miles the car did the same thing , this time the od light came on, had to pull off the highway and again had it towed to the same ford dealership. They replaced the torque converter , seal & pump , they call me to pick up the car, when i got there it would not move in reverse, this time they replaced the transmission.... At 52,338 miles the car again did the same thing with the forward gears and again the od light was blinking, again towed it to the ford dealership. This time they replaced the torque converter - sticking g vale which they replaced..... At 53,175 miles i took it back to the dealership and explained to them that when i put it into reverse it would make a bang and when moving would shake,, they told me that awd fords do that and that i just never noticed before.... At 91,678 mile reverse went out and again the forward gears shifts when ever....they now tell me that the warranty is no longer in effect.

After only 2 months of purchase o/d light went on and transmission shot!!! absolutely heart wrenching as i have no way to work now...

The gas pedal sticks often, and feels as if something is under the pedal, stopping it from being depressed. This causes sudden reduction of speed and then sudden acceleration when pressing hard to get the pedal to go down.ford previously recalled throttle body's in escapes from 2009-2012.i believe the 2007 ford escape model should be added to that recall! this is a true safety problem! mine has being doing this for about a month and has gotten way worse so it will need to be fixed.

There are numerous forums discussing the issue we're having with our escape stalling and not running.we went to a mechanic who explained there have been many recalls on escape transmissions and we should report this one as well as it doesn't have many miles for its age.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. While driving approximately 35 mph, the transmission shifted hard between gears. The vehicle also started to lose motive power. The contact added transmission fluid and the vehicle began to operate as intended. The contact also detected an abnormal burning odor coming from the transmission. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Noises/squeaking at certain speeds.several collisions due to stop timing being off. Most recently rattling, high pitched screeching followed by failure to accelerate, burning smell, and complete electrical failure.

Power train transmission: when i crank my vehicle while in park will remain running. When i shift gears into drivethe vehicle moves forward with consistent hesitation when bringing my vehicle to a stop or at a red light or stop sign the vehicle begins' to shut off. The vehicle will remain running, only if i shift gears quickly into 2nd gear or park and keep one foot on the gas and one on the brakes constantly. These vehicle safety issues are consistent with the recall on my ford escape 2007 at fordmotor.com where their is web page to submit my vin number - says there are no recalls for my vin number. Adamson ford birmingham, al., have concluded the transmission in my vehicle has gone out and needs to be replaced. Forms attached.

When i'm driving my vehicle & making left turns it makes a loud noise. To me it sounds like the transmission just fell out. I'm enclosing some documents of recalls that i've found. My truck is also rusting out so bad that when i put my grandson in his car seat, the legs of my pants get caught on it.

Car surged forward and was unable to control it without applying both the brakes and accelerator at thesame time.was somehow able to get it home.i thought it was a transmission problem but after reading about other complaints online, i think it was the throttle.i could see where this could lead to an accident.i traded it in and purchased a 2012 ford escape that my son drive and i am concerned about this occurring in this vehicle as well.

I was coming to a red light and started to slow down. At first i heard a squealing sound as if a belt was having a problem. Then i was able to bring the car to a stop. The light turned green and i started to accelerate to cross the intersection. I started to make a turn and as i was doing this the ford escape on its own started to accelerate. I tried to brake, however, the car just continued to lunge forward. By that time i was in a parking lot and pushed on the brakes as hard as i could while the car continued to accelerate and turned the car off. At that point it completely stopped. I then called a towing company and they towed it to the nearest ford dealership. I have now been told that the car has an internal transmission malfunction. They have also said it will be there for about 3 to 4 weeks.

The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired.a dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was informed of failure. The failure mileage was 60,700.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the overdrive warning light illuminated independently and the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer for inspection however, the technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 30,000. The current mileage was approximately 31,000.updated 04/30/13*lj

A piece in the shifter assembly is defective causing the key to get stuck in the ignition, and instead of ford replacing that one piece they suggest you replace the shifter assembly which is at least 400.00 vs maybe 50.00.

When i was driving home, after stopping at a red light and starting to accelerate, my escape rumbled a bit, then was running fine. A few moments later, when i was about to go over train tracks, it suddenly stopped accelerating. Thankfully i was able to coast over the tracks safety and off to the side of the road, but other then the slight jerking a little earlier, there were no warning signs. I tried to see if reverse would work, and that did not either. Thankfully my vehicle was still under warranty-the entire transmission system had to be replaced. There was only about 21,500 miles on the vehicle! and i regularly get maintenance. I have been driving it for about 500 miles and everything seems okay (although my mpg seems to have gone down some).

Transmission went at 20,000 miles, replaced 2 abs sensors, gs pedal sticks, front disc brakes warp.

Transmission problems.

I was pulling out onto a main highway and my car jerked as i pressed on the accelerator and next thing i know i am in the middle of the highway and my car does not go forward, just stops and still running while two huge trucks are coming from both directions, thinking quickly, i thought the car may have reverse.well, thank god it did and reverse i went.i had to drive home in reverse and call chapman ford to come and pick it up.my vehicle is still there and they have to take out the whole transmission.i am very shaken and am too scared to get back into the car.i have never felt like this before and have always bought a ford for safety reasons, but this has made me feel very, very unsafe.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.while driving 25 mph, all four wheels locked up without warning.the vehicle would not move forward while the engine was still running.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the 4 wheel drive failed.the contact sustained minor injuries.the vehicle has not been repaired.the current and failure mileages were 41.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the key was difficult to remove from the ignition on several occasions. The contact had to turn the steering wheel and maneuver the key from the off to on position frequently in order to move the key and start the vehicle. The contact also indicated that the driver side seat belt became stuck multiple times. The belt had to be adjusted to get out of the seat belt. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

Was driving in town with passengers properly buckled in seat belts in our 2007 ford escape with 67,000 miles.sudden stop and the passenger in the rear passengers seat had the seat belt pull loose from the connector. Inspection showed that the seat belt stitching on that particular seat belt had apparently never been properly stitched and there were only a few threads holding the seat belt together.close inspection of the other seat belts in the car showed the rest had a white inspection tag while this seat belt did not have one at the "supposed" sewed joint. Looks like the sewing machine needle drilled the holes but did not put threads through the two pieces.we are not the original owners but close inspection appears to be an original defect and the seat belt was apparently never properly sewn to the clip.contacted (through champion ford in corpus christi, texas our home) a lady named lisette who apparently is the texas ford customer representative and she stated that since the vehicle was out of warranty and we were not the original owner that it was not ford's responsibility to do anything about this serious safety problem.no apparent recalls on similar problems and no one but ford apparently knows how many "replacement" seat belt assemblies have been purchased by ford escape owners.pictures of the seat belt separated from the clip is available.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.when the vehicle was purchased, the contact stated that he noticed tape wrapped around the seat belt latch, located in the rear of the vehicle.the seat belt metal latch was loose and there was also a crack in the metal latch.the dealer made the contact aware that the tape was cosmetic and denied any assistance with repair.the manufacturer was notified, but denied any assistance with repair to the vehicle.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 69,692.

I attempted to push the seat belt release button and the seat belt would not release.i had to stretch the belt and pull it over my head to climb out of the car.my husband attempted to release the button, but the seat belt would not release.i have to have the whole thing replaced and was quoted $450.00 as it will have to be rewired also.

2007 ford escape. Consumer writes in regards to dissatisfaction with needed vehicle repair *tgwthe consumer stated when he picked his vehicle up from the repair shop, he discovered the driver and passenger side buckle assemblies were not fixed. The consumer was informed the parts were on backorder.

I know this complaint is not a safety issue.it is an issue however when i am purchasing a vehicle for $22,000.my seats are suppose to have stain guard, and have a warranty so when you purchase the vehicle it sounds great!i do love my car but i hate the fabric on my seats.it stains from water, rain, condensation of the bottom of a bottle, cup, can, or sports bottle, any type of water you name it .its a 2007 ford escape and is going to be used in the rain.we don't even eat in it and i don't allow drink besides water but i have learned this also stains my seats.you could pour an entire bottle of water over any material in my home and unless its silk it would not stain it!!!!!!!! i am going to complain to everyone i know about this until the repair the problem.

The abs tone ring on the drivers side front cracked and became loose making the lights on the dash flash red for the 4wd and abs system. This ring is what the abs wheel speed sensor picks its signal up from to allow the abs computer to determine if the wheel is having a traction issue. This is causing the abs and traction control system to go crazy. I'm being told that corrosion forms underneath the ring building tension until it just cracks and pops itself free. Ford has quoted me a price of $300 per ring replacement. My car has been well maintained.it's a shame that this problem is not being recalled by ford with a permanent solution. Poor design from a lay-persons point of view.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. While driving 50 mph, the brakes failed to operate when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the brake lights illuminated on and off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the exciter ring was fractured. The mechanic attempted to glue the piece back together, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,000.

I have replaced the abs tone rings in my vehicle 3 times in the last 4 years.two of the times it broke i was driving the vehicle. I was on a major road when this happened. This part needs to be recalled. There is no reason for it to break this often. To make matters worse it can only be fixed by a ford dealer because of the computer system.

Tone ring cracked on drivers side. Right side was replaced a year ago for 350 dollars. Hello ford way to stand behind your product.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The abs warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

My wife approached a stop sign at 15 mph, the brake pedal went to the floor, the vehicle was not stopping when brakes applied. She thought the accelerator was stuck.she managed to return home.i inspected the car and found the front right brake hose ruptured, the brake reservoir drained to the separating partition.the failed hose had ruptured at the strut attach bracket, obviously a flex point.there were other failure points in the hose rubber coating visible.i replaced the hose and inspected the front left hose. Same failure pattern, very early leakage noted at the body hardline connection and the strut attach bracket.i replaced that hose as well. Rear hoses appeared completely intact and no issues noted. 71,600 miles on the vehicle. This is a serious common issue across the ford escape line which is also sold as the mazda tribute. Nhtsa notes only one incident, i found 38 on one site alone, https://www.carproblemzoo.com/ford/escape/brake-hoses-lines-piping-and-fittings-problems.phpa failure of one system puts all the pressure on the remaining system.as seen in our case the remaining system was severely compromised.i find it deeply disturbing that nhtsa has nothing in the recall arena on this yet has 2 minor recalls, one being for after market airbag -seat cover interference issues. Really?perhaps if the brakes work the airbag wouldn't be deployed?i have several more pictures if needed.

Three lights turned on simultaneously, brake, abs,and the "wrench" icon indicating a major failure. Brake pedal went to the floor and i experienced an 80% loss of braking power narrowly avoiding a collision with cars stopped in front of me. Lights remained on and brakes were severely compromisedwith very little braking ability. Turned the car off. When i restarted the car all systems were operational and all lights were off. Drove the car to a ford dealer the following day for evaluation. Dealer diagnosed and told me they ran a computer test and no reports.i asked them if they test drove the car, they said no.a week latter the same thing happened and i almost t-boned a car.a very loud sound was coming from the rear of the car.i shut the car off and the system "reset".i was able to drive home but i do not feel safe. I can not get a any ford dealer to tell me what is going on.

Right front tone ring cracked causing abs to malfunction and inability to brake safely.part is a very common failure point and ford should address this issue.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle but the vehicle did not drive. The check engine warning light and brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 153,000.

Had to pay for the replacement tone ring on 06-11-2011 and now its broke again.i think ford should have a recall for this for safety reasons and not be charging the customer for these repairs.

Pulled out of my parking spot and the abs/4wd light came on. Went to dealer and had to replace the cracked front abs ring for the second time

Brake failed the regen system failure and abs brake failure caused an almost serious accident $7000 for repairs for something that has numerous problems from 1000s of others having the same issue it is a 2007 ford escape 2 wheel drive hybrid

The tone ring which inputs pulses to the abs computer fails on many many ford escapes. When this happens the abs computer applies the brakes in abs mode even though the vehicle is on dry pavement.this causes the vehicle to swerve, making directional control difficult. This can cause accidents!there is one hall effect ring on each wheel.the state of virginiastates that this condition of a failed ring is a safetydefect. See safety rejection dated 3-16-15i.d. [xxx]enclosed. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Brake system quit working on my ford escape hybrid. It is a known broblem.dealer wants 7000.00 to fix it. Hydraulic pumps burn out in them.you loose the complete braking system in the car.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the front passenger side tone ring fractured on the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that front driver side tone ring fractured and the brakes failed to respond. The tone rings were apart of the front axle. The vehicle was repaired but the details of the repairs were not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.

I got my ford escape 2007 (42000 miles)completely inspected january 15th. Not even a month later my brakes did not work. I realized i had to completely press them to the floor and luckily i was going up hill so i was able to maintain a safe speed and pull over. I had no warning with my brake light until i pulled the car over and parked!! inspected a month ago.......nothing!!! warning.....nothing! 650.00 dollars later they are fixed. This was very scary and unsafe and i am looking to see if there are any recalls out there.

Broken tone ring right front

Abs light came on and 4 wheel drive light flashed off and on. The next day backing out of my driveway the brakes made a very bad grinding noise.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.the contact stated that while parked and the key was turned, the vehicle had a loud noise from the front end, the instrument panel illuminated and the panel read "brake service needed" in addition, the abs and the brake warning lights illuminated.the vehicle was restarted and all of the warning lights turned off.the vehicle was driven to the dealer.the hydraulic brake system was replaced but the failure recurred numerous times.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000. Updated 05/04/17*lj

The brakes failed at a stop sign and sent my daughter into traffic that was going 50 mph.fortunately she put it in reverse and got out before an accident was caused.the abs light came on and mechanic says it will cost over $4000 to fix.after research we see that hundreds of others have had this exact problem.hydraulic control unit is faulty and a bad design that recurs.

Brake warming light and message. Brakes work but only partly - okay for general driving but not for emergency stops.diagnosed by ford dealer for over $5000 in repair. Quick internet search reveals that this is a common problem in ford escape hybrid vehicles, but ford refuses to repair the obviously faulty units.this should be a recall on all units, or at least free repair for failed units. The replacement is more than the vehicle is worth. There are only 143,000 miles on the car, and otherwise it works fine.*dt*dt

Started to drive and the abs/4wd light came on. Went to dealer and had to replace the cracked front abs ring. This happened on 27jan2012 and again on 23dec2013

Purchased this pre-owned with only 40k miles. It's now only at 45k miles and randomly the abs light and service brakes notification came on the dashboard. Took it to a garage and had them scan and it seems to be abs related. Still have no repaired but from reading all over forums, reddit, google searches, and more this seems to be an extremely common problem that costs a ton to repair. Ford should handle this as a recall if it is a regular issue with this make and model.how is there no class action lawsuit yet? it seems countless people are mentioning that the brakes outright failed while driving on the road or even highways. What if someone dies? this is not acceptable.

Hello, i have a 2007 ford escape hybrid. The car is in excellent condition inside and out except for the braking system. The braking system has been systematically hard to press the pedal since i have owned it due to being a hybrid, however, the braking system is failing as of 2 days ago. Consistent with many, many other ford escape hybrids, the braking system warning lights, abs warning lights and brake system service warning will sporadically engage on the vehicle. Even without the warning lights, this vehicles brakes will now fail, often dropping completely to the floor of the vehicle without warning. As the brakes are a vital component of the vehicle the failure has come during critical times, via stop signs, stop lights, stopped traffic, nearly causing serious injuries or fatalities. When the warning lights engage, the braking pedal is hard, but does fail as well. An immediate service performed at the local garage determined the car malfunctioning brake system is due to the master brake cylinder and hydraulic brake pump, connected to the hybrid system which is highly consistent with all early model ford escapes.repair estimates exceed $5000-7000 usd. The braking problem with the early generation ford escape problems is endemic, and deserving of additional scrutiny and attention from the nthsa.these cars are deadly as set, and thankfully my family has not had an accident or death. Please give these vehicles additional scrutiny, as it is not obscure to see widespread braking malfunctions nationwide.ford will not acknowledge the problem.

While approaching yellow to red light at intersection, the brakes were applied, violently pulsed, then the brakes locked up and the vehicle slid sideways into intersection.the speed sensor (tone) ring for the abs was cracked. Luckily no injury, or damage.

Tone ring failure on passenger side front axle. When the ring fails you loseabsand traction control. Failure at 46000 miles. Two weeks later tone ring failure on driver side front axle. The axle must be replaced to repair the tone ring. The repair cost 250.00 per axle..driving with the abs system not working properly can be dangerous, and therefore the axles must be replaced..i believe these rings are designed and manufactured poorly...

For the second time in the last month i needed to bring my ford escape in to the service department. This time it was because my abs light came on and my 4wd drive light started flashing. The vehicle was running fine and was not making any sounds. This time the "abs sensing ring" had gone bad. I only have 22150 miles on the vehicle, drive moderate amounts, and make sure i go in for all my service visits. Thankfully this too was covered by warranty, but it is really becoming a hassle to visit the dealership so frequently. Additionally i had to have my brake pads replaced this visit.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. While approaching a stop sign and engaging the brake pedal he was unable to stop the vehicle. The contact was able to safely drive the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer was unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. The dealer informed herthat they could run a diagnostic test for $85. The contact did not agree to the diagnostic test. The failure mileage 14,000.

I have a 2007 ford escape with 33,000 miles.both abs tone rings on the front axle have cracked and are affecting the abs system.i called ford and asked if this was a covered warranty claim.ford gave me a run around.when i google this problem, i located numerous pages of complaints about the same problem (cracked tone rings).this appears to be a safety issue and nhtsa needs to investigate why there are so many failures of this abs part.

Transmission went at 20,000 miles, replaced 2 abs sensors, gs pedal sticks, front disc brakes warp.

I started my car in the morning, and drove up my street as i normally do on dry, clear pavement, hitting no bumps or potholes.as i got to the stop sign and pressed my brake pedal, the abs light came on and my 4wd light began flashing.the brakes made a grinding sound, and the brakes locked up.i now know this as the abs system activating.this has been happening for 2 days now, every time i hit the brakes in my ford escape.i have been told that it is a cracked tone ring by my local ford dealer and that it is a minimum of $400.00 to fix.i do not have that kind of money.i have been looking online about this problem and i am amazed at how many other people have the same issue! and with low mileage and through no fault of their own.i am at 52,000 on my 2007 ford escape (with this being 90% highway miles) this is a serious safety issue and i am appalled that there has not been a recall on this yet!!!!please help us in allowing a recall for all the people who have been effected by this.i am a single mother and i have no idea how im going to afford to have this fixed. : (thank you for any help you may be able to provide to me and my boys!

Abs failure, caused by broken front tone ring reoccurs in october 2011 (second time this has happened) car now has only 49029 miles.

I knew i needed to have my brakes and rotors done so i took them in to get fixed at meineke.after they were finished they took it for the normal test drive to make sure everything was working correctly.they noticed that the anti-lock brakes came on but the light wasn't coming on.they told me to take it to ford because they cant handle abs.i took it to ford and they told me that my front left tone ring was cracked.i paid almost $350 for a $10 piece to be put on.i drove it for about 3 days and it started to happen again.i have not taken it back because i cant afford to pay $100 just for them to look at it to tell me its the same thing again.some thing needs to be done about this.

I have a 2007 ford escape. I took it to the car was and my abs lights and 4wd lights came on.i looked online and found several complaints of tone rings (abs rings) being cracked.sure enough my front left tone ring is cracked.i believe it happen on the conveyor at the car was.still this is a common problem, even ford dealers (two of them) agree.why isn't this a recall?ford is fixing it for $300.

Left front "tone ring" failed and locked out the brakes.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. While driving approximately 40 mph the contact heard a loud noise while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that it became difficult to engage the brakes and control the steering wheel. The abs light also illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer where the technicians stated the exciter ring needed to be replaced. The technicians were unable to determine how the failure occurred. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

Abs system kicks on and off at random... Mechanic discovered faulty left front tone ring, which is cracked on front drive axle. Appears to be a manufacturing error as there was no damage incurred.

2007 ford escape 4wd front abs system failure.the tone ring on my escape broke on my vehicle causing it to fail.my braking system didn't work.i looked up the problem and found it to be very common, a tone ring failure.i feared for my safety as well as my wife's.we drive this car a long way to work.there are so many repairs to this 'problem' that i believe it warrants an investigation.i refuse to drive the car until the problem is fixed as i now have no brake system.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.on april 11, 2007,while driving 60 mph on the freeway the contact applied the brakes to avoid crashing into a vehicle that stopped in frontof her.the rear suspension failed without warning.however, the contact was able to maintain control of the vehicle.the service manager of lithia ford stated that this failure occurred when the brakes wereapplied at 60 mph. A ford engineer provided related information.the contactwas aware of the safety risk involved.the failure mileage was 3,900, and the current mileage was 4,000.

The subframe is rusted completely out, there was a recall on prior years where they placed a piece of metal to prevent the wheel from coming off. In later years they used the same part, which has the same problems. They should have changed the part or at least redesigned the part so that this wouldn't happen again. The electric power steering failed while going around a curve at 35 mph.the failure was sudden without any warning.the electric power steering is still non functional and is due to be evaluated next week. Two years ago our escape suddenly lost power steering due to faulty sensors.i took my vehicle to frontier ford in santa clara, california, and they charged me $1200 to get it fixed.in the last 5 days, the power steering went out on me 3 different times -- all while driving -- causing me to have to turn-off the vehicle and then re-start it.it's my wife's escape -- she weighs 106 lbs -- thankfully, i was driving the vehicle each time this has occured (i'm 220 lbs, and i cannot drive the vehicle w/o pwr steering.the first two times the pwr steering went out, i was backing the car out of the garage.today it went out on me while i was stopped at a light, in heavy rush hour traffic.the warning light and bells came on saying "problem with steering" -- i turned the vehicle off, and then it would not re-start.it took several attempts to try and re-start -- it finally did re-start -- but only after infuriating a great number of people who were stuck in back of me during their morning commute.

Frame near shock absorber rusting through. New chock can't be replaced without frame work

I purchased this car from a 2nd hand dealer and after 2 months i noticed a strange noise from the rear right side. Come to find out, the rust on the under pending of this car was hazardous. The whole body underneath was corroded. One of the shocks was barely holding on. If it has completely snapped, it could have cause a sever accident to me and my 2 year great niece, and injured someone else. First notice of this, i took to the dealer. They took pictures and was going to find a welder. A week later is when the part came loose more and the welder said it was unsafe and beyond patching up. A call was made to the dealer to inform them that the car was unsafe and not only because of the shock but the under pending was rusted out. Another mechanic prior noticed the parking brake had rusted out and crumbled along with the brake dust plate. It crumbled and some of the pieces along with screws were caught in the brake drums behind roter. I complained to dealer and they gave me another vehicle to trade, one i really didn't want. They gave me no choice. This vehicle had no air, the windows do not roll down, and the wheel bearing was bad. I didn't want to be without a car due to multiple upcoming doctor appointments. They were aware of a rare condition i have that prevents me from being in the heat but they could not offer me anything else. If so i would have to make payments. The ford escape was paid in cash all up front. I feel cheated and had their been an accident i am sure more money would have been collected from this dealer for the suffering of my family had it been fatal. Vehicle was in motion. Also after contacting the dealer to inform them of the shock about to fall off, they wanted me to drive it to the welder. After the welder told them how unsafe it was, instead of them having it towed, they had me drive it and hour and a half to them. I was scared.

While driving my 2007 ford escape on a somewhat bumpy country road there was suddenly a loud clunking noise coming from the right rear. Upon inspection i observed the entire upper shock mount in the right rear had broken free from the body due to rust, causing the shock to ride freely into the interior compartment hitting the plastic panel. I am the original owner and the vehicle has 164k miles.

When i'm driving my vehicle & making left turns it makes a loud noise. To me it sounds like the transmission just fell out. I'm enclosing some documents of recalls that i've found. My truck is also rusting out so bad that when i put my grandson in his car seat, the legs of my pants get caught on it.

I had parked my vehicle behind another on pine crest drive, a public street with no designated parking.there is about room for 3 vehicles to be parked in this area, or 2 vehicles if one has a trailer.i was parked in the middle because it was my closest option, and then had left it there for a couple days while i was in bed sick, by then the vehicle in front was gone.a family friend witnessed the other driver come by with his 2003 gmc sierra, try to park his vehicle in front of mine, and backed into enough to move it 6 inches.there are some scratches and the body is bent a bit.initially after talking to him we were under the impression he would come back to us after calling his insurance company, but apparently he thought there was no damage until an estimate was written up and confronted again.at that time he admitted to backing into my vehicle intentionally because it was "his" parking spot.after calling the dane county sheriff's office we were informed that there would be no investigation and no police report, but that we should file here.

At 75,000 miles this vehicle recently failed nh state safety inspection due to excessive rust on the unibody and subframe/ control arm passenger side.the inspection was performed at our local ford dealership.otherwise vehicle looks dated but new, taken care of well.even the original step bars are in good shape with little to no rust.ford has a recall on the 2001-2004 model years for what appear to be the same issue and will remedy by installing an additional brace.this does not sound like a good/ safe idea to me

Noises/squeaking at certain speeds.several collisions due to stop timing being off. Most recently rattling, high pitched screeching followed by failure to accelerate, burning smell, and complete electrical failure.

While driving our 2007 ford escape, it began making a thumping noise in the rear passenger side whenever we hit a bump. I looked under the rear-passenger wheel well and noticed the massive amounts of rust and corrosion around the shock-absorber.our mechanic said that where the shock absorber is attached to the frame, rust has corroded both sides of the attachment.he deemed it unsafe to drive.

Passenger rear frame rusted through and the shock came right through the trunk.

White parked with the alarm on, the alarm goes off for no reason & the lights continue to flash possible running down the battery. This happens almost daily, even more than once a day while at work. Sometimes too far away for me to hear the alarm.

Hit small bump in the road at 60 miles per hour, heard a loud clunk from the right rear.vehicle began to pitch up and down and side to side.went over anotherbump in the road and started to lose control.brought vehicle to safe stop.investigated right rear wheel and discovered the shock absorber was disconnected from the frame.upon further research on the internet, discovered that this is a known problem for ford escapes.however, no recalls, no notices to owners of any potential hazard.the next owner may not be as fortunate.

The right rear upper shock to body area is 85% rusted out and is unsafe to drive. Dozens of used car lots have told me this is a well known & documented issue with this vehicle. I feel ford motor co. Is aware or should be aware of this, and should be responsible for it's repair as well as any damages resulting from the vehicle being driven. I have no of that nature. I checked around as to the cost of repair; and it is expensive. Approx: $600-1,000) that is a lot of money which is close to the vechile's value. I feel this situation is not fair due to this hard to detect shoddy workmanship during the vehicle's design process. I am surprised it was not listed on the recall lkist. Actually i am stunned.please research this matter, and give me your findings. Thank you much.harry j. Carter, lll

2007 ford escape tire stems are fractured, the rubber is not holding up.i have replaced one and noticed a second tire loosing pressure.upon inspecting it and the remaining stems they all require replacing.this has the potential of creating a severe accident.i feel these should be recalled, now.my local dealer mentioned that ford did send a postcard out telling owners to look at their tire stems.however, i did not receive one.

Driving down 452 north on my way to work at 8 am, my continental tire on the passenger side blew up and cause moderate damage to my vehicles front quarter panel. Husband changed to the spare and i went and got it fixed at ron's discount tires in delaware. To be continued on another incident that happened may 16th. While i was sleeping, a second continental tire blew up and damaged the drivers side quarter panel severely. The explosion woke neighbors 2 streets over. My car had been parked for 13 hours and the conditions were 55 degrees and rainy. Contacted continental tires and they are only willing to repair the drivers side of my vehicle because i didn't save the blown tire to mail to them.

Bad rear door switch. I bought my suv used on july 14, 2014. The dome light kept going off or staying on.the doors would or wouldn't lock. The horn would go off randomly. This is all within the first three or four days of my owning it. I took it to the dealer and it took them a while but they finally realized it was a bad rear door switch.the dealer fixed it at no cost to me, but i saw the bill was about $600.shortly after that the horn started going off again. My friend has a 2006 ford escape. She has been having similar issues. She said the horn was the weather induced.i have noticed that when the seasons change that my horn goes off more often. One day i was visiting her, and my horn went offf, so i used my key fob to turn it off, but nothing happened. That's when we realized it was her car going off.barely a couple minutes later, her horn went off again. She went to turn it off and it wouldn't work, because this time it was my car.this year has been the most obnoxious yet. My dome light, keeps going off and on whenever it feels like it. The horn goes off all the time. 5 am, 2pm, 9 am,so far it has always been parked. And the light on my dash, keeps telling me that my door is ajar. It has been doing that almost nonstop for a couple weeks now. I don't even check the doors anymore.a couple days ago i had a friend in my car, the car beeped and the door ajar light came on. I assured her that the car was confused. Then while driving 70mph down the highway i noticed road sounded extra noisy, as if i had a window open. Then i realized her door was open, so she quickly opened and reshut it while i was driving. I've looked at this problem on the internet.a lot of people with i believe 05's-08's are having similar issues. They usually just override the wiring in the rear door switch. I don't want to get it fixed with a brand-new defective rear door switch.

We purchased a 2007 ford escape in feb.within a few days we noticed a strange noise when accelerating.we brought it back to the dealer & the manager agreed that there was indeed a noise.we brought it in for service & upon picking it up the next day, were told that there was nothing wrong.the manager insisted that they investigate further, so it was kept another day. Still, no idea what the noise was.we have driven in other '07 escapes that do not they this noise.now it's 6 weeks later, we have 600 miles on a car with a strange noise & ford may finally be sending a trouble shooter to investigate the situation.since no one knows what is causing the noise, we have some concerns as to the trucks safety. We have been told that problem is occurring in other '07 escapes.

The alarm goes off at all hours every day for no apparent reason while locked & parked. The dealership had no way to fix it unless the horn was disarmed. I feel that is unsafe to have no horn.

Vehicle lost power unexpectedly in traffic several times.once stopped it started after a pause and ran fine for a considerable time until if failed again. When researching online noticed that this year and model had a recall but that is not reflected when i ran the vin of my 2007 ford escape hybrid.my concern is the diagnosis at the dealer will not detect this and could result in needless expense which i am not prepared for. The nhtsa has this issue documented and i feel should qualify me to have the coolant pump replaced on a recall before a serious accident.

The rear window exploded this morning. We live in the country so it wasn't due to any outside disturbance.

Gas pedal sticks, won't let me accelorate from time to time.

Upon reversing from a parked position and then slowly moving forward there is a loud rattling sound, my daughter who has the same vehicle purchased one month prior to mine hadthe same problem and was required to have the motor mounts replaced. I am sure that if two of us had the same problem so must other escape owners. It cost my daughter $1000 to have hers replaced, unfortunately i am unable to afford that so my vehicle sits idle. As far as i am concerned this is an extremely important safety issue for which i believe should have been recalled.

Has occurred in the last 4 months (june, july aug, sept 2015) some days multiple alarms then a dry spell then at 10 am and then at 3 pm same day or different day. All while parked in the driveway.

Original owner stated that after she had had the car about 18 months it had just stopped on her several times when she was on the highway with and without the warning light coming on first.the vehicle was checked out by a ford agency in virginia and they could not find a problem.apparently, it had happened several times again between 2010 and 2013, it was checked out by a pennsylvania ford dealership and again, they found nothing wrong.she stopped driving in 2013 the car was sold to a friend when it had about 127,000 miles on it.after using it for about 3000 miles and several months while on a highway going about 60mph the warning light to pull over at once came on. He did, turned the engine off ,waited 10 minutes and started it up again.he then proceeded another 20 miles or so and the same thing happened.the local ford dealership then said that the "motor electronics cooling pump" was defective and needed to be replaced.apparently, it is a common problem.my question is that if it is such a common problem, "why hasn't there been a recall?"this is potentially extremely dangerous! why should the customer have to pay over $800 to have a known defective part replaced?i feel that ford has been grossly negligent in not acting on this.

The car stops actsr a few corners because of transmission problem. Doesn"t make any difference, shether it turns or not. Around 10-15 minutes later it starts again and have the same problem. Presently it's parking on the street and it's unusable.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate on multiple occasions. The contact stated that on one instance when the pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate but after the release of the pedal the vehicle resumed normal operation. On another occasion, the accelerator pedal became stuck and the vehicle maintained a speed of 20 mph. The failure was resolved temporarily after the engine was restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 2,000 and the current mileage was 120,872.

Loss of major engine power and loss ofacceleration when pushing the gas pedal to the floor. Has no acceleration power anymore like it did a year ago to now. Replace all spark plugs andignition coils with now new acceleration power at all.

The gas pedal continuously sticks or locks in position after i have stopped either to make a left turn or right turn.this is very dangerous, especially when i am making a left turn and there is usually on coming traffic.i am very nervous to make left turns for this reason.someone will get killed or seriously injured due to this issue.

While backing up out of garage, the gas pedal stuck. When colder out, i have to forcefully accelerator from an idle or parked position. I have nearly rearended people numerous times at stop signs, etc., as the car lunges once the accelerator actually does go. It's going to cause an accident, having to jam on the pedal that hard to get it to go.

Anytime temperature is below approximately 50 degrees f, gas pedal sticks and cannot be depressed for acceleration until vehicle is being driven.pedal also hangs closed at this temperature while being driven.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal became stuck in open throttle. The contact had to abruptly apply the brakes in order to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that they could not determine the cause of the acceleration failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 71,000.

2007 ford escape throttle sticks intermittently. Driving and suddenly the petal will stick and not respond. Push down on gas petal and will not move or respond. Flutter the petal and in will return to operational form.petal sticks and not allow you to give engine and gas. The problem occurs when i take my foot off the gas petalthen try to reapply the gas to accelerate.vehicle has been doing this since i bought it but has become more frequent as the vehicle ages. I have told dealer reps.about this ongoing issue and each time i'm told it has no recalls and i will need to pay for all repairs myself.

My daughter was almost killed when we tried to pull into traffic and the throttle stuck. She is learning to drive and did not know how to handle the car not starting when she pressed the gas and then it suddenly lurched into traffic. It is a problem with the throttle body identical to the recall for the 2001-2004 escapes. I called the ford dealership and it is 500+ to fix. This car only has 85k on it and i find this a huge safety issue. Since i cant afford to fix it now it will sit in my drive way. Thanks ford.

On 02/09/10 i was driving my 2007 ford escape.the gas pedal stuck.i could only get it to work by using my cruise control buttons.i proceeded to my friend's house.it happened several times on the along the 13 mile ride.when i arrived i went online and googled my make and model along with the words "accelerator stuck".i found several websites where there was a discussion of the issue going back to the 3002 model.i read that it happened to several years of the same model of vehicle.i discovered the fix was replacing the throttle body and it solves the problem.i called kendall ford (my dealership) and left a message for my service manager.he returned my call in less than 45 minutes.i explained, he listened, he told me to bring it in and said there is no recall so i would have to pay for it.i brought in my vehicle and left it and went to work.i called ford consumer affairs in detroit and spoke with a representative, the lady who answered.she took my vin number.i told her i researched online and this was an ongoing issue dating back to at least 2001.i asked why no recall she said ford monitors repairs and had not deemed this a problem.i told her it was a known issue and i would file a complaint with my state ag and she told me she would note it.my car was delivered to me at work and the cost was $305.43; $140.53 for parts and $164.43 for labor.i called my service manager and asked about the cost.he verified it.he told me they had done this repair "many" times on this model of vehicle.i feel since this issue has been going on since at least 2001 ford should have looked into it and perhaps this vehicle should be recalled.it is obviously a known issue.i have filed complaints with the bbb and the oregon ag.

Gas pedal sticksand it wont let me accelerate from time to time.it happen most of the time in the early morning when its still cool outside. Also the rear driver side door lock sticks from time to time.

Recently the accelerator pedal stuck on my 2007 ford escape and i had to run into a curb to stop the vehicle, ity caused about $1500 damage to the car. No personnel injuries were caused. I had torun the car into a curb to keep from rear ending another vehicle.

Gas pedal will stick every time i try to accelerate.i have to tap gas pedal twice with foot to accelerate car at any speed.

Throttle body will not drive rev or go. Gas pedal does not move. Cold weather and it does this more.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.for the past four weeks, the vehicle has been accelerating on its own.the contact stated that the vehicle barely moves when the accelerator pedal is depressed.after approximately 40 seconds, while her foot is still on the accelerator pedal, the vehicle accelerates extremely fast automatically.the contact was informed that the throttle was the cause of the failure.the vehicle is currently not being driven due to the safety issue.she feels that the manufacturer should perform the necessary repairs.the current and failure mileages were 44,000.

While traveling on a highway, the speed control mechanism ceased to function.

I had the cruise control set and was driving at between 55 and 60 on the meter.i was in an area where the road dips and rises.coming up a rise it accelerated but then continued beyond the set speed.applying the brakes did result in regaining control of the speed.this was not the first occurrence, and it seems to me that this happens after having gone up a hill.i checked to see if there were recalls issued for my car and it appears that there is not one for the 2007 model, but research has revealed several similar complaints.

Over the past several months, my gas pedal has been sticking when trying to accelerate. It began in may 2012 and has been getting progressively worse. I thought it might have something to do with cold weather, but it has occurred at various times of the day as well as temperatures at throughout spring, summer and fall. I am forced to push hard on the accelerator when it sticks, which causes my vehicle to lunge forward. It usually sticks when i have completely stopped, but has often gotten stuck when accelerating after coming out of a curve i have slowed down to go through. It is a dangerous problem that seems to have occurred with several ford escapes in the past.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape.the contact stated whenever accelerating from a complete stop the vehicle lunged forcefully without warning. The failure occurred during extremely low frigid temperatures.the contact had concern of the safety risk involved. The failure mileage was 16,000.the current mileage was 24,000. The vin # was not available.js

Gas pedal sticks in near and below freezing weather.

Throttle sticks, usually when cold but it has stuck when warm. The gas pedal won't depress without pushing it hard to overcomebeing stuck. This has caused mea few scares when pulling out into traffic and it wont move as it should. This has happened many time including this morning.

The failure would mostly occur during cold weather temperatures. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that there were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was notified who confirmed that there were no recalls for the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 116,309.updated 9/28/12 updated 10/04/12

I cannot depress the accelerator.it occurs after around 1 mile of driving during the first trip of the day.it has occurred intermittently for the past year.i have taken it to ford but they could not identify the problem and required that i leave the car overnight which i could not do.today was the first day that i had to pull over to the side of the road because i could not accelerate.

Accelerator pedal becomes very difficult, almost impossible to depress, as if it is locked into position.this happens on the average of 4-5 times per week, most frequently when the car is cold and has been sitting...but occasionally as car is being driven down the road.last night i was in the process of merging onto a highway and could not give the vehicle any gas at all, as a tractor trailer was quickly bearing down on me.i had to coast onto the shoulder and was eventually able to stomp extremely forcefully onto the gas pedal to get it to "unstick".this problem is becoming extremely dangerous and i will be taking the vehicle in for service to have the accelerator cable replaced.(assuming that's the problem).

After only 2 months of purchase o/d light went on and transmission shot!!! absolutely heart wrenching as i have no way to work now...

The failure would occur more frequently during cold weather temperatures. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be cleaned due to carbon build up. I own a 2007 ford escape, 45,000 miles, car is outside of warranty. On 12/7/10, i was driving to work & tried to lane change ,the gas pedal became stuck, i could not accelerate. Luckily i was able to merge back into my lane & repeatedly force the pedal down to get the car to finally accelerate. The problem persisted the remaining part of the day & next, and i took the car to my ford dealership on december 8. On december 9th , the service manager advised the throttle was bent , replacement at cost of $300 and the part is being 'redesigned ' and not be available to be shipped from the part supplier until 12/20/10 ,the dealership would not receive the part until sometime in january 2011 .the car is not safe to drive and would need to remain at the dealership . I asked why the part was being redesigned, he had no answer, to me means the original part in my car is a manufacturer defect. The car is only 3 years old, the throttle cannot get 'bent' on it's own the part was defective when installed, obviously a common problem that the part dealer is aware of & redesigning . I was also advised the mechanics discovered a faulty abs tone ring, cracked, $145.00 to replace , i asked how can that happen, the service manager stated probably due to the weather ?? looking at numerous websites this is a common problem with the ford escape, along with the accelerator sticking . I called ford customer service, spoke to a rep & two supervisors, who all refuse any type of compensation for two known issues of the manufacturer defects since there has been no recall for the 2007 model. As a consumer i am outraged that ford will not stand by their product for a loyal ford customer .it is december 28,2010 , and i still do not have my car back as still at the dealership . The problem is consistent on all the 2007 models, ford, please issue a recall for the safety of your customers. My total repair bill will be $450-$600 , due to defective parts from ford .

While driving in major traffic, i was trying to change lanes and put my foot on the pedal to accelerate,my pedal was frozen in place and i could not get it moved.my car started slowing down. Then within a few seconds my pedal popped and i could accelerate again.this has happened four times each time, the pedal froze longer.the last time, was in april on a sunday and my gas pedal froze again.i was in major traffic and vehicles were driving fast behind me as a light had just changed to green. I tried to accelerate but my gas pedal was stuck, i was driving by a garden nursery (business) which has as huge dirt driveway, i skidded into the lot to get out of the way to avoid being hit.i would have definitely been hit if i had not of turned. My speed had completely stopped. In this instance, my gas pedal stayed frozen for about an hour.i kept putting my car in reverse to try to get some momentum as i could not get any speed going forward.finally, i turned my car off for about 20 minutes as i was not making any progress and tried again.after all this time, i tried to drive in the driveway and i got a little speed. I drove home and never made it to my destination for the day. I contacted the local ford dealership and asked them about this problem and if there was a recall.they said there was not a problem and not aware and no recall existed.

The contact owns a 2007 ford escape. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal became stuck when it was depressed. As a result, excessive force was required on the accelerator pedal in order for the vehicle to respond. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

2007 ford escape-accelerator sticks, was wondering if this has any relation to the recent toyota recalls.my ford accelerator sticks almost daily.

2007 ford escape - gas pedal came undone - local ford dealership checked it out and said no problem.6 months later same thing and they have now ordered a new part.is is usual for the gas pedal to come undone.

I got to work this morning around 8 am .. Within a half hour of working a co-worker came to me and asked if i drive a ford escape and as i told her yes she said to come out to the parking lot to see my car...as i arrived to see what had happened...my rear window had appeared to have exploded...the temperature outside was under 80 degrees...i had not ran my ac or rear defrost...i filed a report with the police department and they said that there had been no appearance of attempted break in...the glass was on the inside as well as on the outside ( all over the parking lot ) and behind the 2 cars parked next to me..glad that i was not driving at the time!!! as i looked this up out of curiosity on the internet there were alot more of these complaints...what's a consumer to do when they pay through the nose for a vehicle and receive such trash???

Rear glass exploded.

Rear windshield exploded while parked in driveway overnight in upper 20's degree weather. There was no evidence of vandalism, according to police report. Window broke for no apparent reason or fault.

My rear window exploded while parked. My car was backed in and there was no one or way to get behind me.

The rear window exploded this morning. We live in the country so it wasn't due to any outside disturbance.

As i was coming out of work to go to lunch i walked up to the car and saw all sorts of glass on the ground and then looked up and saw that my rear window had blown out.the rubber that holds the window was on the outside of the car.i had a police officer come out and look at it and he determined that it was not vandalism of any type.it was a bright sunny day and about 28 degrees.it was parked in the parking lot and it just blew out.i am grateful for that because i drive quite a ways to work on a very busy road and if that had happened while i was driving it may of caused a serve accident.

Rear window exploded while parked overnight in garage. No apparent reason.

I had just pulled out of the gas station when my back glass exploded.i was the only vehicle there and i was hardly even going 5 mph!i immediately exited my vehicle to see if anything had hit it, and there was nothing in or around my vehicle except for shattered glass.the glass was every where; inside the back, on the bumper, and even on top of the roof!i'm not the only one who has experienced this issue!william ford and mark fields, i want this fixed!if my two year old were in the car he would be covered in glass!this is a safety issue!

Rear window literally blew out!

- when driving 50 mph in a 2007 ford escape the rear driver and passenger windowswere downand the contact hearda thumping noise.the failure mileage was 25.the dealer stated that there was nothing they could do about it. The current mileage was 600 miles.

Wheel bearing making noise from both sides

While i was sleeping, a second continental tire blew up and damaged the drivers side quarter panel severely. The explosion woke neighbors 2 streets over. My car had been parked for 13 hours and the conditions were 55 degrees and rainy. Contacted continental tires and they are only willing to repair the drivers side of my vehicle because i didn't save the blown tire to mail to them.

The subframe is rusted completely out, there was a recall on prior years where they placed a piece of metal to prevent the wheel from coming off. In later years they used the same part, which has the same problems. They should have changed the part or at least redesigned the part so that this wouldn't happen again. Car is now parked untill fixed

Brake failed the regen system failure and abs brake failure caused an almost serious accident $7000 for repairs for something that has numerous problems from 1000s of others having the same issue it is a 2007 ford escape 2 wheel drive hybrid
