No deployment of driver's air bag during a collision, resulting in injuries. Also, vehicle sustained excessive damage.

Originally in dec 2004 while returning from a trip to st louis, mo i started having trouble with my abs light, my speedometer hand intermittently going back to zero and the vehicle coming out of cruise control.it was originally thought to be an abs brake problem so the speed sensor and the abs module were replaced.the next time i went out on the road for the 4th of july 2005 weekend, we got as far as charleston, sc andhad to put the rv in the shop because the cruise control and speedometer were both malfunctioning; the vehicle would come out of cruise and the speedometer would intermittently go from the correct speed to zero. Also the transmission seemed to be downshifting and upshifting at will.after that we brought the vehicle back to the house and parked it on the driveway.a couple weeks later i went out to move the vehicle and give it a wash job and clean it up a bit.it would not start upon examination i found that the power distribution box had some melted relays in it and the box itself was melted min a couple of places.we had to have a different wiring harness installed to get the vehicle running again.we felt that some of the ground wires had caused a short and that was what had melted the power distribution box.later we saw that the power distribution box is located just below the reservoir for the vehicle brake fluid.the last item that became functional wasthe cruise control after replacement of the fuse for the horn which is located in the power distribution box.then i saw where ford was doing a recall on their cruise control switches for several vehicles and since the econoline van is one of the vehicles that uses that cruise controlswitch, i feel that the econoline van should be included in the cruise control switch recall.my rvis on a ford econoline e350 van with a 460 cid v8 engine and an automatic transmission with overdrive.vin #[xxx][xxx]. Updated 07/19/2012 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

The contact owns a 1995 ford econoline.after having the wiring harness installed due to the recall, the vehicle's horn and cruise control failed.the contact stated that prior to the installation there were no failures with these two components.he received another recall notice and took the vehicle in for service.the dealer stated that the repair had previously been performed.the contact also needed the dealer to inspect the abs because the warning light illuminated intermittently while driving various speeds.the contact had to shut off the vehicle and restart it in order for thelight to dim.the repairs would cost approximately $1,200 - $2,000 for parts, not including labor.the failure and current mileages were 20,000.updated 04/11/08

Consumer states that the horn is very small, consumer states if you don't have the steering wheel in the correct position you won't be able to blow the horn.consumer feels this is unsafe because he is unable to warn the next driver.

Vehicle stalled while driving due to faulty ignition system.nlm

The van just stops at any given time, the dealer says it is fusable links that keep braking. I am a paraplegic and i have had to tow this vehicle 4 seperate times. Once on vacation in gulfport, ms. I read an article in my local newspaper(kingsport time news-thursday, october the 12th, 2000section 3a that sounded exaclty like my situation. If you have any information please contact me.

The remote power mirror switch design malfunctioned, causing a fire. Manufacturer cannot determine problem.

Stalled while moving because of blown 60 amp fuse.auto service had to find wire that shorted (took 6 hours) splice that wire and cover it.total cost was $585 including tow.

Vehicle was parked beside our house. It was a 95 four winds 5000 motorhome on a ford econoline chasis, chasis year was 1994. Vehicle was not driven for 5 days prior to the fire. Vehicle was plugged into electrical, but nothing was turned on or running. Fire started in the dashboard area or just under the drivers seat. Only other problem with unit was the multipurpose switch for the windshield wipers didn't work properly. We are still fighting with our insurance company to provide us with a cause of the fire. Fire started at 3 am.our neighboor was asleep on his coach and heard a noise and looked out and saw flames coming from the front of the motorhome, he called 911, ran over to see if anybody was in, grabed the fire extinguisher, tried to put the fire out, than pounded on our door to get us up. Fire dept. Got there just as the fire started down the top and started burning the side of our house. We have to replace the siding on the house and windows, but it could have been much worse.class c motorhomes are not designed with escape routes if the fire starts in the engine area. Had somebody been in the bed above the cab, they would have had to jump over the fire to get out. We had working smoke detectors, but the it burned very quickly. Escape routes are the doors, and side windows, never planning to have to get out of the bed above in the event of a fire. This needs to be addressed by manufactures.truck campers provide an escape hatch over the bed. If this happened to us, the next time it could happen with somebody's grandkids in the bed with them having to jump over a very smokey fire to get out.

Radiator valve cross-threaded when forced in at the factory and broke during fluid replacement .

Leaking oil filter replaced.

Dt*:the contact stated while coming down a ramp and approaching the stop sign at 45mph, the engine made a loud noise. The noise appeared to come from underneath the hood in the engine compartment.the vehicle was displayed that it was going to stall and then stalled. An attempt was made to restart the vehicle however it would not restart.the vehicle was towed to the service dealer who determined that the timing gear was fractured.the service dealer replaced the timing gear. Shortly after the repair, the loud noise underneath the hood returned.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who performed diagnostic testing and recommended that a new camshaft bearing be installed.the manufacturer was not notified.

I brought in vehicle in october/november for routine and asked about head gaskets having a problem with temperature in engine, told everything ok.now at 118,000 miles in january, told both head gaskets are blown and hit with a $1200.00 bill.now, my vehicle is overheating again.i know there is an extended warranty on head gaskets 7 years or 100,000, but i had brought my vehicle in previously. To it going over the 100,000.please help.

My 1995 econoline van blew up in my driveway while turned off.it exploded under the hood and a huge fireball went through the cabin.it caught my house and garage on fire, along with my giant oak tree.this is the second econoline van that has blown up like this in the past five years.both times we were lucky; no one was in the van at the time.they would have died or been severely burned.ford accepts no responsibility for this; they were not even interested enough to send out an investigator.

Serpentine belt cracked and tenisoner needs replacement.

I have a1995 ford e-150 sherard hi-top conversion van and just experienced a severe fuel leak. I'm curious if the vehicle has ever been recalled because of this.the fuel leak was on the vent line to the fill tube.the vent line is about a 3/4 inch hose with hose clamps.one end of the hose attached to a metal tube near the top of the fill tube and the other is next to the fill tube where both enter the fuel tank.the vent hose developed a major break near the tank.upon remove of the hose i found that the hose clamp is bonded to the hose at this location (the other was not).i'm a mechanical engineer and it looks to me that the bonding process of the clamp to the hose has deteriorated the tube and shortened the life of the hose.the other end of the hose that attached to the fill tube was in excellent condition with no signs of problems.the clamp was stamped with some markings indicating canada and also has some patent numbers on it.i'm guessing that they attempted to bond the clamp to the hose in this area because it is a very tight area to access for maintenance.i'm very concerned because when the tank was full and you went up or down an kind of an incline fuel poured out of the tank.we'd been smelling fuel for a little while and the condition finally deteriorated enought that we could see the fuel leaking under the van when we parked on an incline.

The handling of the vehicle is difficult due to size/mismatch of front steering tires and rear axle.also, improperly installed catalytic converters.

The factory installed cage had bolts that were fastened to the side wall of the van.the bolts had broken through the metal, which would allow the cage to move foward in a collision.jg

Consumer purchasd truck on 6/11/95, on 6/19/95 it was parked in the driveway truck blew up due to the air conditioner fluid, resulting ina fire.

Sometimes when the air conditioner is on there is a burning smell coming from the vents.please describe.

Consumer experiencing problem with getting dealer to honor recall # 98s-08 for parking brake cable/ fuel line; interference between parking brake cable and fuel line which, over time, can result in damage to fuel line, causing fuel leakage; leakage in the presence of an ignition, can result in a fire. Dealer notified.also, this recall involved four other vehicles; all are 1995 econoline vans : 1) [xxx], 2) [xxx], 3) [xxx] and 4) [xxx].the 5th one is located in vin box.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Transmission failed prematurely, ford refuses to assist. *mjs

Automatic transmission malfunctions, it will either shift hard and late or will go out of gear. Dealership rebuilt the transmission, but the problem still exists.

While driving on highway at a speed of 65mph vehicle began to surge. I attempted to accelerate with the accelerator pedal compressed all the way down to the floor, butengine did not respond and eventually stalled as i pulled of onto the emergency lane.attempted several times to startengine, it would run for approximately 10 seconds and shut down.weather that day was sunny with temperatures at the time of travel about 90 to 95 degrees fahrenheit. At the time of the incident, i had driven only 250 miles of a 730 mile trip.i had driven this same route just four days prior. I was towed to the local ford dealership right at closing time for service department so my vehicle was not checked out until the following morning.after several hours of troubleshooting, the mechanics could find nothing wrong. I proceeded on my trip during the early evening hours without any problems.the vehicle is in perfect operating condition with all required periodical maintenance completed by ford service and the only corrective maintenance was for a leaking transmission cooling line inengine compartment. After doing some research on the auto safety center web site, i am a bit suspicious of a potential hidden problem.

The contact owns a 1995 ford 250 econoline. The contact stated that when the vehicle was in park,it would move in reverse instead of stopping. The vehicle is being diagnosed by the dealer. The failure mileage was 68,000.

The handling of the vehicle is difficult due to size/mismatch of front steering tires and rear axle.also, improperly installed catalytic converters.

Middle captain's chairs installed too far forward, preventing the seatbelts from buckling.

Vehicle was looked at 4 times during the warranty period and since then i have worked on it myself, every 6,to 7000 miles the same thing shows up again, the yellow warning light will come on , if you shut the engine down the light will go outsometimes it will come back on during the remainder of the trip sometimes it will not. It happens after i have been on the road about 200 miles , i talked to numerous other ford rv owners who have had the similiar problem. Ford should have a recallon these sensors.

The contact owns a 1995 ford econoline van. The contact stated that there was a burning smell coming from the wheel well in the brakes. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic shop where they replaced the calipers, rotors , and brakes pads. The contact stated that he can still smell something burning. The failure mileage was 110,000.

1995 ford e150 based conversion van has had the braking systems/abs hydraulic control unit replaced twice in less than 83000 miles.both replacements were done at ford dealers and copies of both invoices can be provided.since this failure disables the abs system and produces a hopping in the rear wheels i think this is a hazard that need to be looked into.

While driving the vehicle applied the brakes, ncreasing the brakes and heard a loud noise, held the brake pedal and the vehicle kept on going about 10-15 feet before stopping. This has happened several times in the past.

While driving on the highway in wet road conditions the abs brake system failed. Lease describe.

While driving was unable to slow down, vehicle was stopped when it hit a barn. Had no brakes. Just had brakes checked and everythingwas fine.contacted dealer.

Abs control unit failed 1996 and replaced. Failed again dec 2001 and replaced for $761. A multi-ton 15 passenger van should have working abs brakes.with the repair cost, i suspect many owners are not fixing the defects and it is under-reported.apparent part number change suggests possibility ford knows of a problem and has not reported it.narrowly avoided major collision when abs were inop.

Some of your question may be unreated to my problem, i am complaing about a defective bottom tennsion pulley that control the power stearing and all of the vehicle. When this quite it was like driving a duce and a 1/2 that does not have power stearing, very wide turn. Came to rest before overheading in e. Falmouth mass. Was towed off a friend lawn at 9 pm sunday. The whole thing occured at noon on sunday, a neighbor to my frieend came to my aid with his cell phone, i called my motor club and there could not help. Around 7 pm i found some one that could tow it to my machinic - auto tech in sandwich, mass who did the repairing as it would have cost double to take it to tanner ford in s. Easton. As it was it cost $80 for the tow(cash) and i seldom have that much laying around. Repairs were $387. Which is reported under property damage in your form. I am reporting this because had i been on the interstate heading for nh or some where else, i could still be there today waiting for help. The tennison pully snapped right off, rendering fanbelt useless, and distroying a new belt that had just been put in the van in april on the require manitance at 60,000/61,000. I spent a lot then, and now to have $387 + 80 = $467 hurts. I think i should get some help from somewhere for the flaw of the tennsion unit. Auto tech in sandwich 508-833-0888, as for larry he'll tell you what he did.you know this could have been a bigger disaster had i been traveling at 65, am happy i was just coming out of a side street onto and other street and it was not busy, when the thing made a big snap.i thought at first it was a fanbelt had become loose and need to be re-enstalled, till i got under and found a much worse problem. Thank you for a chance to spout off as i thisk tis is very dangerous problem nd should be looked into all all ford trucks, especial e150's.your truly carl g. Rideoutps:on the 3 belt and 2 belt and motor belt am not sure what you mean.
