Pulled up to stop sign. When making right turn, onto interstate frontage road, throttle quit working, wrench ligh and check engine light came on. Coasted to side of road. Vehicle had to be towed in to ford dealer. Was told electronic throttle control shut down vehicle, and throttle body would have to be replaced. Had it happened another minute latter it would have failed in the middle of an interstate highway.

Ford e-450 box truck with 6.0 diesel has 40k miles on it. It has been in the shop 4 times already. It required all new fuel injectors, a new clutch fan, egr valve, new radiator, brakes including rotors, and ball joints. All except the brakes & ball joints were covered under warranty, but it is down one week out of every month for repairs. The 6.0l diesel should be considered under the lemon laws.

The engine quite several times, the last time the vehicle was totally dead and wouldn't restart.also, the emergency flashers were inoperative.

The contact owns a 2006 ford e450. During rainy weather conditions, the engine will not turn on. The engine also stalls if it begins to rain while driving and will not restart. The speed was not a factor. Each time the failure occurred, the vehicle was towed to the ford dealer and after a few days they were able to restart the engine. The mechanics have not been able to diagnose the failure. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 9,000 and the current mileage was 15,333.

Twice the engine in this vehicle has quit without warning at highway speeds. 1st on 9/1/2008 @ 27,300 miles, 2nd on 6/23/2009 @ 35,400 miles. In both cases the vehicle was restarted as soon as safely possible. This issue could result in a serious injury and/or property damage since there is a loss of steering and brake controls when the engine quits. The dealer has tried to repair but cannot diagnose the problem. I have emailed ford motor asking that they have a technician contact the dealer to work together to correct this defect asap. In the meantime i am concerned that driving the vehicle is dangerous to myself and others.

(2)2006 e450 series ford ambulances, engine problems.

We have a 2006 ford f-450 that was purchased in november 2005.in october 2008 the "water in fuel" warning light came on.the ford dealer found no water and replaced a fuel water module at no charge.now the truck loses power without notice and we are told that the coating on the interior of ford diesel fuel tanks corrodes and collects as sediment in the fuel system. The sediment, collects at the bottom of the fuel tank and is sucked into the fuel system.the truck cannot be driven safely.ford claims there is no warranty for this malfunction.

2006 ford e-450 bus, gas tank delamination with 46,000 miles causing vehicle to stall and stop nearly causing an accident at an intersection at night. A police officer stopped and set up flares, and we avoided a serious accident. Ford denied claim stating the gas tank delamination was caused by the government's relaxation on diesel fuel additives. It caused us $3500.00 to repair the vehicle due to a defect in the fuel tank coating by ford.

As i applied the brakes and attempted to turn the brakes automatically locked up and would not release. I was in traffic the truck would not move in the middle of the highway. It also happened again as i attempted to back into the driveway. I applied the brakes and began turning the steering wheel the brakes again went to the floor and would not release. Ask the dealership and they said oh yeah that happens sometimes on those vehicles.

No accident happened but this in not something easily seen by a visual inspection and can go unnoticed. I have never had this happen with any other supplier.

This same problem has been reported by people complaining on blogs.while in motion the vehicle will cut out.all power just stops and the vehicle rolls to a stop.it can be restarted.there is no indication when this will happen.it has happened on the expressway, at a repair facility, stopping at a traffic light, going down the road.speed is not a common factor.the key has one or two other keys on the "key chain".there is no special weather situation.i do not know if it is the same cause as the gm problem with the ignition, but it produces the same result.this is a handicap shuttle van.
