My husband was blinded by the driver airbag on a 1993 ford crown victoria in september 2002.it was a low impact single car accident at 8 mph.the airbag did not go off in a timely manner and blinded my husband instantly.my husband suffered atear in the left muscle and permanently lost the vision in that eye, torn iris on both eyes, blood clots in both eyes; cornea damage to both eyes... The list is long.he has had 8 eye surgeries and we are still unsure of he will lose the rest of what vision he has in the right eye.ford has had many cases since then, but will still not recall these cars for 1992-1996, which include the grand marquis.ford lost a case in 2000 (hoffman v. Ford) and according to automotive news:ford was aware of airbag complaints that had been made by consumers, but ford says they did nothing because no one ever filed a lawsuit.since they lost the hoffman case, ford still has not recalled the cars for the defective airbags.during a $1 billion cost saving by ford, they changed the airbag sensors from 5 to 3 sensors.this saved ford $18-25 per car. This cost saving is costing people their lives or they are being blinded when the airbag doesn't go off when it should.the 1993 ford crown vic's airbag is released into your face at .when are the consumers and juries going to be told the truth about these airbags and their dangers.airbags may save lives but they also burden a family with financial ruin, a lifetime of medical bills and emotional distress and ford takes no responsibility for the results to us consumers.we lost out case against ford.

I bought a used 1993 ford crown vic approximately 4 years ago, while i expected i would have to put money into repairs the one thing i didn't expect would be having to repair a seat mounting bracket due to poor workmanship & or materials. After looking on the internet at various sites i found that i'm not the only one this has happened to, many people have had the same problem with the seat frame shearing away from the bolts in crown vics.i tried contacting both the local ford dealership & the corporate consumer affairs dept with no satisfactory resolution to this matter. This appears to be a serious defect flaw in crown vics that needs to be addressed as it can cause serious injury in an accident. The contact owns a 1993 ford crown victoria.while driving at an unknown speed, the contact noticed that the vehicle sporadically veered to the right.the dealer stated that although he was experiencing the same failure as noted in nhtsa campaign id number 95v194000 (suspension:front:control arm:upper arm), the vin was not included in the recall and they would not repair his vehicle for free.the vehicle is currently being repaired.the failure mileage was 172,000 and current mileage was 173,000.

I purchased this car used 03/97 87,000 miles. When you would turn to the left sharp, it always made a clunk and the car would shift over. The clunk continued, so i took it to my local ford dealer, rudig-jensen in new lisbon, they found that the bolts that attach the upper control arms to the frame were loose. The loose bolts had worn out the bolts and the upper control arm. They found that while replacing the parts, that the bolt holes in the frame mounting bracket had worn and had fractured. They were unable to repair the car, and called gary's autobody of new lisbon to look at the frame mounting bracket . Gary's have repaired the bracket by welding it , as the ford dealer told myself, that they could not repair it. I would have to buy a new car. I called the ford motor company, and was told that the car had been in for the recall 95v194000 nhtsa at norris vernier ford in tomah, wi. And that ford motor company would not pay for the repairs, because the vehicle had already been in for the recall. The damage done to my vehicle is from the loose bolts, and i feel thatford's faulty product caused this, and that they should repair the damage, as it is due to their problem with these vehicles. The bolts can loosen even after being checked under the recall.

On june 6, 2004 while drivingat approximately 35 mph the passenger side front end dropped down and scraped the pavement, the steering wheel jumped around and the right front tire blew.looking under the car revealed that the lower control arm ball joint had separated and pulled free from the control arm.the lower control arm had been forced into the sidewall of the tire and gouged a huge hole in it.had this happened at highway speeds it could have been catastrophic with loss of control of the vehicle. The exposed ball joint end was dry (no lubricant) and i could see galling on the upper top half of the "ball".these aresealed ball joints that have no grease fitting and thus no provision for lubrication. The car had to be towed. It is sitting in my driveway at this time available for inspection by anyone.i looked up recalls on the internet and found nhtsa recall history listing "1992-99: bearing within lower ball joint can weaken slowly during use and eventually crack; could result in separation, allowing control arm to drop to the ground" and elsewhere recall no. 1998251 refers to crown victoria " bearing loads can lead to thinning and eventual cracking of the lower control arm ball joint" .i also found nhtsa records of ball joint failures under the odi id numbers of: 835503, 713546, 505865, 700771, 714657, 710815.i also found at alldata.com under automotive recalls a tsb no. 98s37 of dec. '98 "recall - front lower control arm ball joint replacement".i called ford on june 8, 2004 and talked to a rep named norman (i.d. No. 2357) and case reference no. [xxx] and he told me that my car [xxx]had no recall notices and therefore it's not a problem.i told him that this defective vehicle situation could cause a fatal vehicle accident and asked to talk to his supervisor.he told me that there wasn't a superior i could take the matter up with.updated 07/25/2012 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Front driver's sideand rear right side power windows dont slide down or up.

We had to have three of the cars windows worked on - they would not go up or down. Now the driver side window has quit working a second time.we do not excessively use the windows. I am the sole driver of the car and ususally just take it to work 2 miles away from home and back. I use the ac. Each time we have the windows repaired it is $200 or greater.so far we have $600 into the windows. We will probably not fix them anymore when they break. We understand from cruising the internet that this is a common complaint with this make and model and year of car. Is there anything that can be done? when the driver side window quit working for the second time, that was really annoying. Whenever i need to use that window (more frequently than the others)- i have to open the door get out of the car.
