2000 ford contour, 4-door sedan, vin: [xxx] ------ entire dashboard is coming unglued/disconnected.it is raising up in front of the windshield, this is starting to obstruct the driver's view, the defrost deflectors are no longer operable to deflect the air ontothe windshield and it has compromised the possible operation of the passenger airbag. Ford motor company has issuednumerous recalls about this serious ford contour problem.but, the local ford dealership says that this vehicle is not on the recall list.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving at 50 mph, the consumer lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete barrier.none of the airbags deployed which resulted in the driver being critically injured. *nlm

Brakes failed causing consumer to rear end another vehicle, causing damage to the front end, air bag did not deploy, the brakes were inspected and said to be ok but another accident happened, consumer believes the pressure reducing valves malfunctioned prior to recall resulting in the two accidents.nlm

Dashboard is delaminating and peeling upward interfering with air bag deployment, defrosters and visibility. Ford has ongoing issues with this same problem on other ford products. I feel this is definitely a safety issue and quality issue.

No summary lisated for above vehicle.

2000 ford contour se sport automatic, 64,200 miles. My pregnant wife and i were rear ended by a man in a ford cargo van doing about 40 mph, not paying attention. Conditions were sunny and warm, about 1:15 pm. I was the driver and was at a complete stop, waiting for a ford taurus in front of me to turn left onto a side street. During the collision the front driver and passenger seats broke into a reclined position (we both ended up looking at the roof because of the seat position) which would have crushed the legs of rear seat passengers. The front passenger seat belt became unbuckled as well. I was pushed into the taurus but the air bags did not deploy. Vehicle was a total loss. *la

The dashboard has separated and causing visibility problems as well as problems with the venting system.the defroster air flow is diverted and essentially useless.i am concerned that the air bags could not deploy if needed.i also did not get the recall, found out about it too late.local dealer said call ford.customer service suggested i get it repaired since it is a safety issue but that they would provide no help at this time.she said reports like these are what get the engineers to consider recalls---when?

While driving 35 mph front air bags inadvertently deployed.vehicle was drivable.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

The vinyl covering on the dashboard is peeling away from the underlying structure.it has, over a period of about 5 months, peeled back far enough that it obstructs the view out of the windshield.the windshield defrost vent trim no longer fits into place.the defroster no longer works properly, as the vinyl now obstructs the air flow.the vinyl is also in such a position as to potentially impede the functon of the passenger-side airbag.ford has issued a couple of 'campaigns', as they call it, but both have expired.my dash was not warped during the period of the campaign, and so was not replaced at that time.since the extended warranty does not cover the dash, ford will not cover the full cost of the replacement (~$1200).the dash on a 3.5 year car should not warp so badly it looks like a pringles chip.this is a design flaw with potential safety concerns, and should be subject to a recall.

Instrument panel warping, loose bezel -the warping may adversely affect performance ofthe air bag system and does create loose instrument panel components (such as the defrost bezel) that was a projectile during a quick stop at a red light - for those reading - i do include personal info - my name is [xxx] if you could help with info re this complaint.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

On 09/09/2004 the wife was driving home in our 2000 ford contour 2.0 literwhen the ac and radio shut off, the speedometer quit working and electric windows operated slow. She made it to the driveway when the car shut itself off. It would not restart until it set for a few hours. Next morning she made all but 100 feet of 1 mile to a local garage, who said alt is putting out 12 volts when it should be at 14, but alt may be ok. The idiot lights in the dash will not light up while starting the car. Garage thinks a short to the idiot dash lights is where the missing 2 volts is going, but their not sure. They never seen this problem before. All fuses and connections seem ok. Garage charged up battery to drive 1 mile back home. Electric shop will look at it monday. Electric shop said there has been problems of connections in back of the fuse box burning open. I looked; no burnt connections, and meter said alt connections are good.

Vehicle was taken to dealer in 2002 in response to ford customer satisfaction program 01b78 to address potential instrument panel warping. There was no visible warping at the time. The dealer advised there was no issue and no service was required.throughout the last year, the warpingstarted to become visible. Earlier in the month, the warping applied so much stress on the vent cover that the cover snapped out and landed in the front seats. The warping increased greatly and visibility is reduced on objects close to the front of the car.

Foam padding on instrument panel curled back from dashboard/instrument panel so as to partially block line of vision along the lower windshield, to block and disrupt the air flow from the defroster.problem started approximately 10/2003 and has gotten progresively worse.

While sitting at a red light today my 2000 se started making noise - turned out to be the starter running. Took the key outand the starter continued cranking the engine. Was able to dash to the trunk, retrieve pliers and disconnect the battery cables before the car started burning. The wires in the engine compartment were smoking by this time. Turned out that the main positive cable had chafed through against the starter solenoid wire a few inches away from the battery terminal. This is right where the cable makes a 90 degree bend around the top of the battery box. Found the other 2 red wires of the terminal also showing signs ofinsulation wear at the bend. After tearing the solenoid wire apart from the main cable and taping everything up, i trimed the top of the battery box lower and repositioned the wiring to avoid the same thing happening again.

Ford contour 2000 with only 60,000 miles on it..ignition froze up and needs $300-500 worth of repairs to fix it.. In checking consumer complaints this is a common problem with the contour and the focus..this is a manufacture default and costing consumers millions of dollars and ford has done nothing to recall this vehicle and fix it properly......the government needs to step in and force this issue.....

I have a ford contour 2000. I bought it two years ago, and it has been in and out of ford repair shop since i have it. Had trouble with fuse in driver door-fuse burned and shift was hard to put into gear;cruise, blinkers,ac and heat did not work.and for a year now,it is stalling. Dealer has replaced wire harness from wires to gas tank. Worked without stalling for few months, now is stalling again. Does not stall with dealer-dealer cannot find cause. Also, dashboard has warped and defroster grill has popped up.as of today, defroster still works.

While driving in rush hour traffic vehicle stalled. Dealer had difficulty indiagnosing the problem, and contacted the manufacturer for any recommendations.the manufacturer indicated thatvehicle stalled due to a malfunction in the wiring harness.

Consumer states his auto will not run when it gets hot.he has had it tested and it is showing nothing is wrong with the auto, he has had it to two different dealer.he was told that it was some wiring in the fuse box that is causing the problem.nlm

I purchased my vehicle at 88,000 miles from the federal government at an auction. The fed gov. Is required to meet manufacturer standards on maintenance. However, the vehicle has had major electrical problems which numerous mechanics can not fix. There is a voltage drain, which makes fuses blow. The cruise control, blinkers, and ac don't work, and it is impossible to shift out of park without using a manual override.

Dashboard is coming apart from frame. Ford told the consumer it was a recall. After two to three months past there was no part available for the consumers vehicle.*mr

Molded dashboard was shrinking and lifting off of the frame . Consumer was afraid thatair bags would deploy prematurely if the shrinking persisted. Manufacturer had not been notified.

I had just got on interstate when my car started cutting out. I immediately put my flashers on & tried to get in the left lane so i could get on shoulder of interstate but cars would not allow me to get over. My car died in middle of interstate. I called asap (a service in alabama for help on the interstate) & told them where i was & i needed them to bring me some gas. Then a car came flying up behind me but was able to stop & did not hit me. Then the car behind him had stopped but a truck behind her was not able to stop. He hit her, she hit the man behind me and he hit me. Paramedics were called for a 4 year old in the womans car who said his head hurt. I could have been killed if the car behind me had hit me and turned my car sideways & was hit on the side by another car, because everyone was driving way too fast and did not acknowledge my flashers at all. They would fly past me blowing their horns. Did they think i was stopped on purpose? believe me if i could have made the car go i would have. This car does this sometimes when on a 1/4 tank of gas, and since this accident it has gotten worse. Now it does it on 3/4 tank. I do not get on interstate anymore. No one seems to be able to find out why these cars do this.

While traveling at 55 mph on the highway at night headlights without any prior warning went out. Consumer took vehicle todealership, and dealership put a headlight switch into vehicle, but problem still occurs.

For the past year i have not been able to drive my 2000 ford contour se when the gas tank gets below 1/2 tank. I t begins sputtering and stalling below that. It dies out entire.ly at 1/4 tank. I thought it was water in the fuel at first. And kept my tank filled and utilized a "heet" type product. It begame appearant during the spring and summer that the issue was not water icing up in the fuel.

The fuel pump was replaced twice. Engine hesitated, surged and lost power.fuel pump assembly had to be replaced twice within a 2 year period.also the dashboard started to lift.recall for dashboard repairs already expired.

The car hesitates, stalls, loses power, surges, etc. While accelerating onto the freeway, going up hills, turning onto a highway etc. We've been lucky that it has only happened when we had a shoulder to coast on to. We could have easily been rear-endedby other vehichles in traffic.this has happened several times : at first it only happened when the gas tank was less than 1/4 full, then at 1/2 tank, now 3/4 full. We try to keep the tank full.nhtsa has a recall id # 04v421000 for the 1999 and later mercury cougar thathas the identical fuel delivery module as the 2000 ford contour (v-6).this recall should be expanded to include ford contour and mercury mystique v-6 models at the very least.nhtsa has also recalled the 2000 ford focus with similar fdm design defects and performance problems

When vehicle gets to about 1/4 tank of gas it starts hesitating usually when i am on the on ramp to the interstate... Not good merging into traffic going 80mph and your only going 40.i am told i need to replace fuel pump however this fuel pump alone from ford is $314 for part only.

Car hesitates, sputters and stalls. After towed starts with no problem. Also, happened several times last summer. Seems to occur when outside tempatures are hot.

Dash is warping, received recall but at the time it was not warping so i didnt feel it needed replacing. Also fuel pump had to pe replaced at 70,000 mile. Dealer charge $800. Which is unbelieveable for a vehicle in the price range. Dealer sold me an aftermarket extended warranty when i purchased this vehicle in 2001. They didnt inform me it was not a ford warranty. When i tried to file a claim i was informed they were in bankrupcy and would not pay. This will be the last ford i will own.

When the fuel pump malfunctioned and caused the vehicle to stallwhile driving on the highway.the fuel pump has been replaced three times.please provide any additional information.

The consumer stated that the vehicle stalled intermittently while driving.the dealer diagnosed the problem as a defective fuel pump and replaced it. The consumer had to pay $534.16 for all repairs and fells that they should be reimbursed for all the troubles.*nlm

Bought a 2000 ford contour two years ago and have had continual fuel system problems.this vehicle will run fine for awhile...sometimes days or weeks....then just suddenly without any warning stall in the middle of interstate or highway like it is not getting fuel.two fuel pumps have been replaced in the last two years to no avail and they go out in a little over a year.the mechanics i have taken this cart to are puzzled and don't no what the problem is...ipay top have it fixed...they think they have it fixed and it will run ok for a week or two then stall in the middle of the road again.the car has been parked a year and a half of the two years i have been paying on it.we have had near accidents because of this problem on several occasions.currently we take the car no more than a mile from the house when it is running.

This vehicle stalled twice.once while i was going 65 mph on the interstate with my infant daughter in the backseat with coal trucks bearing down on me.when i retrieved it from the dealership that afternoon, they told me they had cleaned sediment out of the tank.now a year later, out of warranty, i have had to replace the fuel pump for the third time, the gas tank because it is rusting away from the inside and the fuel filter because of the debris.my aftermarket warranty did not cover this repair ($825.52), i contacted ford, and they refused to take responsibility.this was a fire and death waiting to happen.please contact me regarding this claim..

Car stalled while driving on highway 49. Glad my kids were not with me. Car has only 60000 mi. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump.

Vehicle leaking fuel from fuel tank pipe grommet.took the car to other repair facility other than dealer, this repair facility informed me of the recall 00v350000.i then took the car to the ford dealership where i had bought the vehicle new.they informed me that this recall was not issued for my car.is there any way to check for myself if this recall is indeed on my car?vin # [xxx] ford contour se sport.i feel the dealer may be mishandling the repair. *nlminformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

This complaint is to replace previous complaint #10023062.i am sorry for the inconvenience, i feel that i may have left out pertinent information.my vehicle was leaking fuel from the fuel tank pipe grommet.i took my vehicle to another auto repair service rather than the dealer where i had bought it.this auto repair service informed me of recall 00v350000.i then took the vehicle to the dealer where i bought the vehicle from.i had told them about the recall that i had learned about. They informed me that this recall was not for my particular vehicle.i understand that the dealership does not have my particular vehicle on recall for this problem.however, it seems a big coincidence that some other 2000 ford contour vehicles do and i have the same problem, yet my vehicle is not on the recall list.maybe there are more that do need to be recalled?i don't feel that i should have to pay for the repair when it may be a manufacturing problem.they have ordered the part for the car to repair it and we will pay the bill for repair.but i would like to have this investigated and maybe we can be reimbursed for the repair if it is found that my vehicle should have been on the recall list.i trust the dealer and do not wish for them to be reprimanded for this.i just want this to be investigated so others like myself to go through the wondering and suspicion.thank you for your assistance and patience. *nlm

Stalls for no apparent reason. It appears that when fuel gets down to approx. 1/2 tank, it will stall out at any time. Fill tank and it will be okay. Chapman ford in columbia pa.said it would cost about $500.00 to fix. I asked why and they said thats the way ford made it. He also said the focus has the same problem. Even though we have not had an accident, we have had close calls. Various incident dates for past six months. Even if its fixed, there is no guarantee how long it will last. I think it's a lousy answer.

While traveling 70 mph dash indicator light came on.vehicleslowed down and thenstalled. This problemoccurred several times. A technician traced the problem to the fuel tank.

Consumer states that the fuel tank is now leaking gas from vehicle. Dealer notified.

Fuel tank warpage - plastic fuel tank can warp causing fuel to fail to feed. Because usable fuel quantity is unkown, engine can stall at unpredictable instances. Replaced fuel tank & pump/sender assembly.

Dt*: the contact stated that the vehicle's gas tank strap detached on 07/01/06.a strap was observed hanging from under the vehicle while parked.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who determined that the right hand fuel tank assembly strap had become detached.the independent repair shop contacted the dealer who contacted the manufacturer to order fuel tank assembly strap. This vehicle is a duel fuel system; natural gas and gasoline.this vehicle has two modes of operation controlled via a toggle switch: (1) switch in the ng position, which operates the vehicle on ng and then automatically switches to gasoline and (2)switch is in the gasoline position, which completely bypasses the ng fuel altogether.on friday 8/10/01, a 95 degree day, the car was set at the ng postion.at an intersection i was waiting at a stop sign with the intent on making a left hand turn across two lanes of a four lane road. As i proceeded to accelerate the vehicle immediately stalled. Thankfully i had not actually engaged the intersection. If i had an oncoming dump truck would have hit me on the drivers side.i noted that the ng fuel level was at zero (or close to it) and the enigine should have seamlessly kicked into gasoline fuel reserve, which was full.apparently this did not happen and resulted in the stall.later in the day this occurred again while in a parking lot.i am thankful that i was not injured as a result of this problem.

Ford had customer satisfaction (not recall) on dashboard warping.this is safety issue, the dash rolls up so much it obscures cars or objects that are visible normally at the low angle of the wind screen. Such as going uphill or incline. Or even small children in front.the work to fasten the dash down to reduce obstruction only workedtemporally.

Consumer noticed that the dashboard was curling and lifting up from the frame. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the dashboard needed to be replaced.

The dash board is curled up.the problem started in 2002 and has slowly continued to get worse.we contacted ford and they said that there was a recall but that the time frame for making a claim had expired.we didn't proceed further because they told us it would cost us $1000 to fix.our warranty said they wouldn't cover it because they considered it "upholstery."we have just left it.it is a safety issue because it makes it very difficult to see over the curled dash board.plus, in the winter, the window doesn't defrost properly, again making it difficult to see.i just saw your website on line today, which is why we didn't contact you earlier.

Foam cover on dashboard has warped. Edge nearest windshield has curled up and is now touching windshield at least 5 inches from base. Warped dashboard blocks air from defroster resulting in safety hazard as visibility is significantly reduced especially in cold weather. This is the result of a known defect (tsb 01b78). A supervisor at the ford "customer relationship center" told me that "it must have been lost in the mail". I was told that the repair offer has now expired.

My 2000 ford contour is plagued with the "dashboard curl" problem which, after much research on the internet, i have found to be a very common problem among 1998-2000 model year ford contours.basically, at the base of the windshield (around the defroster vent), the dashboard has come loose and is curling up.beside the fact that this is annoying as i like to keep my vehicle in good shape, it could also pose a major safety problem of blocking the view of the road while driving.i am truly surprised this problem has not yet been addressed by a manufacturer recall, as this isa major safety concern.

1) no event yet.2)the dash is curled and pulled away from windshield to the point the defrosters can't work.the entire front dash assembly has twisted until there is tension on the airbags, steering wheel, stereo has fallen out, no venting works.so much distortion that we are fearful of the air bags releasing any time the vehicle hits a bump.3) i took the car to the dealer for other maintenance issues the first year and asked him about the dash, why it was pulling away from the car.he couldn't explain it.three times the first year we had this discussion.the following year he mentioned a recall on my vehicle for the dashboard, but stated "it's too late now, it ended in october".i went to the owner of the community ford where we purchased the car and he told me i had to "go to the manufacturer, ford" and get the dash replaced."i've contacted ford motors via-e-mail, and get no response.4)the defrosters can't operate because the dash has curled and blocks air from reaching the glass.visibility is obstructed.very dangerous to drive.the movement and distortion of the entire front dash is dangerous for my family for fear of the air bags releasing or the dash just simply falling into our laps while we are traveling.5) i purchased the car new and these problems started within three months of owning the vehicle. I've heard other similar complaints about this particular model of vehicle.6) i like the car, has good gas mileage, etc., and can't afford a new one.the safety issues need to be dealt with.7) someone will be killed driving this car.

The dashboard adhesive is defective on my 2000 ford contour svt.the dash around the defroster vent and up to the windshield has warped so badly that the defroster vent actually popped out of the dash and hit the windshield while driving down the road.the dash eventually curled up high enough to touch the dash, making the defroster ineffective to clear fogging on the windshield.the passenger airbag is also separating from the dashboard due to the warping.ford had originally had a service bulletin for this problem, but only left it open for a short period of time.the problem is a design flaw, so i am indicating the vehicle's build date as the incident date, even though the dash continues to get worse.

I had just got on interstate when my car started cutting out.

Express ltr fwd on behalf of douglas j. Holt (ga) re a defective 2000 ford contour dash, front windshield and front window defroster.*mrthe consumer stated the dash has warped to the point where the front defroster is no longer effective.

Dash warped on 2000 ford contour.i bought the car new in feb. Of 2001 and had the dash replaced once already when it was covered under ford's warranty.the 2nd time it happened ford refused to help as my warranty had expired.the dash is severely warped to the point where it's hitting the windshield.considering my height, it has certainly had an effect on my vision of the road.it also has an adverse impact on the defroster function.the front of the dash is now beginning to warp as well just above the steering wheel.numerous owners of this vehicle have complained about this problem but ford refuses to help.please help!!!!

The vent bracket on the dash became loose and was about to fall off when i removed it from the car.the dash pad began to shrink and pull away from the instrument panel and dash immediately after we got the car.the manufacturer discontinued to provide a replacement in 2004.there was a repair campaign for a 6 month period--before i owned the car.i would like ford to provide a replacement part to me at no cost.i will install it.this is a safety issue because the defroster is blocked by the leading edge of the shrinking dash pad; part of the driver's vision is blocked; the grille is dangerous if it becomes loose in the car; the airbag deployment will be interfered with unless there is a remedy.

Ford had an owner notification program in place but i never received a letter despite owning the car and having it registered at the time. A supervisor at the ford "customer relationship center" told me that "it must have been lost in the mail". I was told that the repair offer has now expired. This is no longer an aesthetic problem as the blockage of the defroster severely compromises safety.

I own a 2000 ford contour.the dash is warped and the front defroster vent is no longer functional.this causes the windshield to fog up in humid or foggy weather.ford had a recall for this problem, but it is no longer valid. I am the third owner of this vehicle.the previous owners did not have the dash fixed under recall.ford requires for me to pay for the repair and or replacement of the dash.

The vinyl dashboard on my 200 ford contour svt is warping causing the vinyl to rise into the driver fov.

Dashboard has warped to the point where the defroster plastic vent does not fit in its designated spot.defroster does not work as a result of the air not being directed to the windshield properly.

The dashboard, which was once recalled, the recall has since expired. Is delaminating off the foam , preventing proper defrosting of windshield and hindering view out of front window. The fuel pump which was recalled on other ford models for exactly the same problem, fails, preventing acceleration onto highways. The water pump, which is plastic, disintergrates in the motor.

Ltr fm douglas holt (ga) 2nd attempt w/additional information to get nhtsa to require ford to replace his defective warped dashboard that now causes the window defroster to be rendered ineffective.*mr

Instrument panel foam and skin peeled back blocking passenger side air bag door. Ford had a customer program to repair until june22, 2002. Defect did not appear until after program ended. Customer letter was never presentedto owner as letter was sent before purchase. Ford will no longercover repair.ford has been advised that airbag is effected . Local dealer reports 8 current owners have condition and are not covered by ford repair. Mr

2000 ford contour front dashboard is separating from the vehicle.**no answer required***. *mr

Delaminating dashboard, ford contour se, 2000 model.

The glue that holds the dashboard downlet loose blocking the defroster making it unable to see both in winter and on raining days.

Dash warping, all models do that after time (3 months or less) causes defrost vents to blow air in an improper location replacement of dash is only fix, but will warp again after replacement.

I have a 2000 ford contour that i purchased in 2000 while i lived in nh. In early 2001, i moved out of nh and to ma.last year, i started to pay attention to a very noticeable warping in my dashboard. The dashboard has started to pull away from the windshield.the black venting piece is no longer connected and could become lose and serve as a projectile in an accident. My front windshield no long defrosts properly which can cause problems with seeing while driving.i just found out that there was a recall in 2001, and i can only assume that the notice was somehow sent to my old address.

I have a 2000 ford contour svt with dashboard curl. The dashboard is deformed above the gauge pod in front of the driver. If it continues, it could begin to somewhat block the driver's view.i put in today's date for the incident simply because i have no idea when the curl started. It was like that when i bought the car a couple years ago and has progressed to where it is today.

The dashboard is lifting up and you can see where the glue was holding it in place and now it is getting worse and when we contacted ford dealership they said they will fix it at a cost to me that there is no recall on this even as bad as it has become since winter has come and the heater is being used now. It started to get bad when the air conditioner was on. I also had the back window frosted up when it got cold out and all windows were shut at the time, cause the car was just sitting in the drive overnight.

Nhtsa recall 01 f 139 000/instrument panel:recall repairs were a failure, instrument panel installed has started to warp. Repairs were done at pierce ford mercury dealer in shelbyville, ky. Phone # 502/633-4535.

2000 ford contourtop of dash warped severely.

Engine checklight has been on,and vehicle runs roughly. Took vehicleto dealer 4 times. Dealer stated that catalytic converter needed to be replaced.

Customer satisfaction program number 01b78. I contacted winner ford and they told me that the offer expired the 31st of august. I don't feel i should have to pay for this to be repaired . I told them that i use my car 6 days a week and could not get it into the office by the cut off date, i also let them know i would never buy another ford productbecause i was under the understanding that the customer is always right. This is a safety hazzard and all i would like for them to do is fix it.mr

The dashboard detached from the grill.

Vehicle has dashboard that is warped up towards the windshield around the defrost vent.problem is getting worse and ford will only cover 60% of repair (total cost $1000).this is a know manufacturing defect by ford however, they claim the warranty has expired thus only a goodwill offering.

Mfr.# & nhtsa# 01-f-139-000/instrument panel:the consumer states that the dash board is detaching from the defroster grill.the dealer and manufacturer have been notified and both informed that the recall has ended in august. *scc *nlm

Insured reports cruise control would not disengage, vehicle reportedly accelerated, and could not be controlled.driver lost control and struck another vehicle and guard rail.dt

Car accelerates when speed control "set" is applied.

Throttle sticks intermittently, causing the vehicle to accelerate suddenly .dealer has been contacted.

In my wifes car the dashboard near the windshield is starting to come up its right near the vent in the car it makes drive the car more difficult due to the dash is now block part of the windshield i was told this has happened to some one before and i would like to have this looked into.

Dashboard has come unglued, effecting driving visability and preventing the windshield defroster from defrosting windshield.nothing done to correct yet .appears ford does not want to take resposibility for this hazzardous defect.

Dashboard began slowly warping over a year. It got to the point where visibility ahead was compromised, and the defroster vents were no longer functioning. Dealer would not cover a replacement, so i had the work done at a local body shop at my full cost. So far, the replacement dash is ok.

Visors fall out of roof when touched, has been occurring since shortly after car was purchased about 4 years ago.

Dashboard is delaminating and peeling upward interfering with air bag deployment, defrosters and visibility. Ford has ongoing issues with this same problem on other ford products. I feel this is definitely a safety issue and quality issue.

The defroster did not clean the windshield properly.

The dashboard on my 2000 ford contour has curled up at the defroster vent and blocks the defrost airflow from flowing across the windshield

The dash board has been warping for the last 2 years more and more noticeably.it is now to the point that the defroster does not work properly, and i have to wipe down the inside of the windshield with a cloth and dawn dish soap (to help keep the fogging down).

Vehicle has a bad smell coming fromheater whenturningit on.dealership is aware ofproblem.

The leading edge of the dashboard (portion nearest the windshield) has "warped" upward severely (6+ inches!). It now presses against the windshield, preventing the defroster from functioning properly at all. This is a safety hazard especially during winter months. It is unknown if this dashboard warpage would interfere with airbag deployment. There was a customer satisfaction program by ford to correct the issue, but this program terminated in 2002, and this warpage commonly does not/did not occur until well after the program ended.

Dashboard has come unglued, effecting driving visability and preventing the windshield defroster from defrosting windshield.nothing done to correct yet .appears ford does not want to take resposibility for this hazzardous defect.

Dash has curled up so badly that my window will not defrost.this condition has also caused my winshield to crack from on side of the car to the other.it is so bad that at times i need to wipe the windshield with one hand while driving with the other just so i can see while driving.i also have a problem with the windshield linkage that keeps coming apart during operation of the wipers causing the wipers to stop working.

The dashboard panel on my 2000 ford contour is warped and blocking the front windshield defroster vents.this in turn causes poor visibility, especially during rainy or snow. I notice this problem in september 2002 shortly after i bought the car used, from the on-base aafes exchange car dealership at the us army base in mainz-kastel, germany. Apparently, what the car dealer had done before i bought the car was to push the front windshield defroster vents down into the molded dashboard panel, so that molded dashboard panel did not look warped. After a couple weeks, i notice that front windshield defroster vents were separating from the molded dashboard panel, so i push the front windshield defroster vents down into the molded dashboard panel, and it stayed down for a week and then the vent would pop-up.i have since given up pushing, the front windshield defroster vents down into the molded dashboard panel.in may 2005, i took the vehicle in to the ford dealership in mainz, germany that handles us spec ford's, to see what could be done to repair the problem.the dealership told me that the dashboard was defective and that there was as customer notification program for this, but it has since expired.on may 19, 2005, i contact the ford by phone (1-800-392-3673) and was informed that under the customer notification # 01b78, ford repaired instrument panel warp age. This notification was issued on june 10, 2002 and expired on august 31, 2002 for the 2000 ford contour car that i owned.since the notification had since expired, i was not eligible to have this problem repaired and paid for by ford.by ford issuing customer notification # 01b78, they have acknowledged, that this problem is a known defect and should repair it at no cost to the vehicle owner, regardless of when the customer notification period expired.

Dashboardcracked open and was blocking the vents in the vehicle.consumer contactedthe manufacturer, who stated there was a customer campaign at one time, however, the timeexpired. Consumerwas not experiencing a problem with the dashboard at the time.the consumer stated that her defrosters do not work properly due to the problem.the entire vent is out.the consumer stated that she can not see out of the windsheild properly.*tc

Dt*:the contact stated several problems occurred to the vehicle.while driving at 20mph, a humming sound was heard coming from the right side of the vehicle.it was taken to a local independent repair shop where it was discovered both right front and rear wheel bearings needed replaced.the brake rotors on the rear were replaced 5 times within a 6 month period.the heater blower malfunctioned and would not blow hot air.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop were the sensor to the heater blower was replaced.

Consumer states thatdashboard is buckling, causingwindshield defroster vents to move out of alignment.consumer cannot defrost front windshield when necessary. This results in poor or no visibility.

Vehicle was parked in sunlight everyday; blower separated from dashboard and dashboard is now warped badly. No recall notice/ bulletin received from dealership in which vehicle was purchased from.

Top of front dashboard has delaminated and curled up to the windshield, preventing defroster air flow from operating.problem became evident in feb-mar '04.ford motor contends this is a customer satisfaction issue, and not a safety concern.will not assist in $1400 cost to repair defect.

No cool air comes from drivers side air conditioningsystem. Took vehicleto dealer for 3000 mile service, consumer then told dealer of problem with air conditioner.they attempted to correct problem, but were unable to remedy the problem.head quarters in detroit tolddealer to takeout the whole front dashboard. They removed the heater er box transfer, still could not remedy the problem.
