The dealer located in mena region jordan, not working or cooperate as well.most recalls he said no need to do it and claim that no parts available and its need more than 45 days to be available and after 45 days he said still nothing come back after a month etc... And we are all customers facing problem in contacting then and the ways they are treat us in it is not professional. Not feel (not only me) that the have professional team, i want to do all recalls but affair if they did most probably they will make new issue and start paid for something wrong they made :(

Abs failed causing car to slide on slick surface, and airbags did not deploy in front end collision.

I was in an accident, driving approximately 25 mph when i hit the brakes with approximately 20 feet of distance, the anti lock brakes failed to engage causing the car to slide, and rear end the car in front of me, upon impact the airbags did not deploy.

The wife jumped a curb while parking and the cmax ran into a brick pillar causing damage to the front end, the airbags did not deploy. Wife said her foot was on the brake and the acceleration from a stop was violent.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. The contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v597000 (air bags, seat belts); however, the parts needed to do the repair was still not available. The contact felt the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. While driving 75 mph, the contact crashed into the rear of a toyota tundra. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop where it was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The failure mileage was 146,000.

I have a new cmax energi with navigation. The back up camera goes on when i go into reverse, but it sometimes does not shut off, so i have this distracting screen showing me what is behind me while i am driving forward.sometimes it changes to the correct screen immediately, but other times it can take up to 2 minutes.i have reset the system, but it did not help.

** event 1, 17 may 2013: car failed to start. Some indication of electrical function. Ford service unable to locate any problem** event 2, 5 june 2013: car failed to start. Ford service found a bad cell in battery, thought that might be the problem.** event 3: 17 july 2013: car failed to start. My ammeter verified 13+ volts across battery. Ford service (different from previous) found a problem but not able to diagnose.** event 4, 18 july 2013: car lost all electrical and power while moving at 30 mph. Problem identified by ford service as being connected to ford special service message 32167, dated 2 april.concern #1: power lost at any speed is a serious safety hazard to the car's occupants and to others on the road -- particularly at night! ford should pursue a recall to find these cars and fix them before injury occurs.the problem is known and is straightforward to diagnose and repair.concern #2: ford knew about this problem but failed to locate and repair cars on dealer lots before selling them. It should take immediate steps to located unsold inventory and check it.

I thought i had placed my c max in park. I turned car off with power button and went into a store to shop. The car rolled out of parking space and almost hit another vehicle. I forgot to place my c max in park but the car gave me zero warning that the car was not in park and turned off like normal. I used to drive a prius hybrid and that car was push button start as well but the prius would tell me to place the vehicle in park if i tried to turn it off while it was in gear. Ford needs to correct this. The c max should not turn off while the vehicle is in gear. Someone is going to get seriously injured because of this design flaw.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. The contact stated that the radio operational after the vehicle was turned off causing the battery to drain. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who recalibrated the radio fuse however, a year later the failure recurred. The mechanic then removed the radio fuse from the vehicle which disabled all audible sounds from the vehicle. The contact stated that it was a major safety hazard for her as it took away the backup alert sounds that would alert her of imminent objects when reversing the vehicle. The contact then called hansel ford (3075 corby ave, santa rosa, ca 95407) and was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vin. The contact was then referred to nhtsa for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle battery discovered to be totally discharged after sitting in garage overnight.told by ford dealer to "jump start" it and bring in for service.this was done.when i picked the car up at dealership, the service writer, stated that the "computers" indicated that for some unknown reason, the radio had turned on (on it's own, and without any key in the ignition) and had drained the battery overnight.he stated that the service department had "reprogrammed the dcdc module per tsb 13-6-23", (this bulletin is for cold weather charging improvements - temperature for the last 60 days has been over 75 degrees and per the bulletin it would not apply) and this would cure the situation.on 7-5-2013, i entered my garage at 5am, and discovered that the "fuel pump" had turned itself on and was running constantly.the vehicle had not been operated for over 12 hours and the keys were inside the house.i am very concerned that something may "turn itself on" and a fire will start.vehicle is scheduled to return to the dealership again.

Third time, electrical components were acting wonky (radio, no controls worked, no shut off, not turning off when door opened, after car turned off, phone part of sync didn't work), then, not sure when, but, after parking in driveway, and not driving for a day or two, car was dead, no response to fob, wouldn't start. Each time, dealership has told me they've fixed it, but, it happens again. Very irritating, to never know for sure, if i'll have a working vehicle. I have also experienced having the windows roll down, all at once, car was off, i'd pressed fob to lock doors. There are many complaints about these problems! ford needs to figure out what is wrong! i am disabled, no one to help. A dead car is a very hard thing for me to deal with.

On repeated occasions since the car was 2 months old it has gone dead after sitting for 8-16 hours. It has been towed to the dealership twice and jump started numerous times. Both times at the dealership they said they performed a service recommended in a ford bulletin to fix this known problem. It still happens.nothing is left plugged in, no doors are ajar. It happened again today, july 23, 2015. The dealer service department told me they now have a recall on the vehicle that will fix it, but there is no record online of a recall issued for this problem since the last time it happened in april 2015.

Car electronics will not shut off. Radio remains on continuously, even with keys removed and doors locked. No chimes to indicate if car is on/off. At other times, car navigation and electronic systems will fail. Failures and non-response can happen while in motion. Radio not turning off after engine off and parked.

I could not start my car at a school parking lot on 3/30/2013. It showed a red triangle warning and wrench light. I called the ford dealer. They sent people to help me. However, the car would not start for a half hour. There was no issue until 5/9/2013. It stopped three times on my way home when i was stopped at traffic light or at traffic jam. The only way to start the car was to turn the power off and re-start the engine. It might not be able to start right away. It took a few seconds to a few minutes on that day in each case. That is very dangerous on the road. I drove my car directly to the dealer that day. Dealer had taken one week to fix this issue. I picked up my car on 5/16 after they told me that it was ok. My wife drove to school to pick up my son the next day. It happened again at the school parking lot, where she could not start the car again. There was no power for a while before she could start this car. Dealer is still trying to fix this car. It is not easy for local dealer to find the root cause. I think the designer should take over and debug this issue. It is not safe for any driver to drive a car that could stop anytime and anywhere. There is no warning sign until it happens. Driver can't plan a trip to meet the schedule because you don't know when the car will stop running or whether you can re-start the car in short period. I hope ford can find the root cause and recall all the cars if it is a design issue. Otherwise, someone will have an accident sooner or later for anyone who drive this model car.

My car has been completely electrically dead approximately 4 times.when it is fixed it eventually happens again.i have to use the key in the key fob to open the car and when i push the start button it doesn't start.the batteries in the key fob are not dead.it is very worrisome to not know if my car will start.this happensin a parked and turned off situation.

2013 ford cmax hybrid. This car has had 2 batteries already. The car went dead again after battery was replaced 10 months ago. Called the parts department to see if i could get a replacement. Clerk said it maybe the alternator. This car does not have an alternator. Ford personnel are not knowledgeable on this car. Does not give me any confidence that ford will fix this problem. It's frustrating to drive this car and not know if it will start. Ford needs to fix this problem.

I parked the car in public parking to use public transit.when i returned approximately 10 hours later the batter was dead.nothing was plugged in and drawing any electricity.battery was simply dead.i was able to get a jump start and get the vehicle home, i removed the battery, cleaned the terminals, charged the battery over night and reinstalled it in the vehicle.after investigating online i see that this is a common problem for the c-max and want this documented.i believe that ford motor company put a battery in this car that is not sufficient to do the job it was designed to do.

Purchased this vehicle in march 2014.first incidence of a dead battery happened around june of same year and when i called the service department from where i purchased it, they said to have it jumped and then drive it to dealership's service department.roadside assistance came out to jump battery and then i drove it to dealership (about 40 miles away). Technicians did whatever testing on it and came back to me and said that since i had driven it such a distance, it "had reset all computer functions and they couldn't tell what was wrong".they then told me that if it should happen again, to have vehicle towed to service department so that they could hook up computer to it to see what is wrong.august of 2014, went to leave for work and car was dead again. This time, called roadside assistance to get it towed to dealership.with the way this vehicle is when it is "dead", i could not put the car into neutral to get it out of my driveway for tow truck, so he had to give it a quick jump to get enough power for me to get it into street.towed it to dealership, they ran diagnostics, and decided to replace battery.today, november 9, 2014, went to go get into car and it was found dead again.will be having it towed to dealership in morning to see what they have to say.very unhappy about this issue as i really do enjoy the car.

The second day was the 1st time my car died.i took to the dealer and supposedly they replaced battery.my car died 5 times again after.last friday 01/10/14 took car for 3 recalls one was for the battery.today 01/16/14 at 04:10am my car died again.this is very inconvenient when my time is very limited.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

Upon starting my car, i was aware that there was no sounds--no audio, including warning beeps, gps voice, radio, etc. I went to ford service and was told it would require testing numerous modules. It was costly, so i opted not to have it checked. The car was unused and in my garage for two days. On the third day when i got in the car, it was completely dead. A towing service came, jump started my car, and i drove it to ford. I had to leave it overnight. The next afternoon, the ford service manager told me it started up with no problem the following morning. Service tested everything. There were no faulty codes, no record of a problem. I was given a discount off the full price, although nothing was resolved.on carcomplaints.com i found that many other owners of the ford c-max hybrid have had the same problem. Ford has no answers.

The audio system of the vehicle stopped working - will not turn on, link to phone, etc.performed a hard reset of the audio system and the system worked.next day 12v battery was dead.jumped started the car and took to the shop where the battery was replaced (original battery).system was tested and battery was reported as fine.since it was the original battery i had them go ahead and replace it and no other issues were identified.car sat in garage overnight with everything off.next day car is dead again.

I was on way to work @ 15:30 and i can not get into my leased car because there is catastrophic electrical failure.i can not give you mileage because there is no way to access or read electric digital odometer display.ford roadside sent tow truck to tow my ford lease in for catastrophic electrical failure the tow driver attempted to jump start that failed also.was towed to servicing dealership future fordbecause original purchase/lease dealer lithia fresno is not authorized to service their own fordc max hybrid lease.i am begging whoever reads this complaint please do so with integrity and share it withsomebody, anybody or agency with authority/jurisdiction to open case and investigate, or doing anything tostop these serious, potentially deadly ford cmax failures. Catastrophic mechanical, electrical, sync system failures.this is the 3rd separate, complete, catastrophic failure w this cmax hybrid in 18 months of my lease.i want others to at least have the knowledge of what has happened to us already so that others may not get hurt.for the sake of safety of millions and the integrity of doing the right thing thank you.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. The contact stated that the 12-volt battery did not stay charged. Thebattery died overnight and was jumpstarted. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (koerner ford of syracuse, syracuse, ny, 315-474-4275) where the battery was recharged and restarted the vehicle. A diagnostic test was performed, but the technician was unable to pinpoint the source of the failure. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure was not repaired. The contact complained to the state attorney general and was referred to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 30,000.

After shutting the vehicle off, the battery has been dead when trying to restart (overnight or after work).this has occurred 3 times since new in 2013 - once at 11,900 miles on 12/30/13; once at 33,069 miles on 7/.10/15; and now yesterday at 38,xxx miles on 3/17/2016.there has been no warning, no warning lights prior, and the battery has checked out fine during routine maintenance occurring before the incidents.

Vehicle completely lost power (no lights, accessories, etc.) and would not start.even a jump would not allow vehicle to start.this has since happened on 2 additional occasions.in each case it was towed to the dealer.

I bought this used suv on may 14, 2019 with 87,420 miles. In three occasions the display on the dashboard has shown, with no audible sound, the message to stop the vehicle. The vehicle will then shut down. All times happened while i was driving on the highway. I noticed that the air condition shut itself off, then i saw the display message. If i would not have seen the display message, the car would have stopped within 400 feet. This is extremely dangerous situation as i would not have time to change to the emergency lane, leaving a stopped car on the fast lane. I now keep looking glancing at the dashboard worried that the display will appear again. I have taken the car to the dealer two times. The first time they told me that a scanner showed no problems. Now the car is at the dealer for a second time where they are doing more testing. I just do not have any more confidence on this car. The dashboard has also shown a display "see manual".

After driving for about 30 miles at night, i get a burning smell in the interior of the car. I have had people stop me to tell me that my rear tail lights are out. This has happened only twice but i rarely drive at night. I was on the freeway the last time and some people followed me to tell me that they could barely see me. I have a black car and license plate. The car is our of warranty and i don't know if my extended warrant will cove it. I am terrified to drive it at night now.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. While the vehicle was parked, it was unable to be started. The contact stated that the battery was drained. The contact spoke with the manufacturer who approved the vehicle to be towed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery was drained; however, the vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.

Additional data:ford customer service admitted the first recharge of the hybrid was done with and inadequate software system. On may 31 the car again failed to start.ford admitted that the software had been changed to accomplish the logic system to better control the car.it is note here ford also admitted this c mac was made for parts form both 2013 and 2014 inventory. My issue is ford has acknowledge refund to be paid for loss in mpg. However ford fails to recognize the scientific fact recharging of a depleted battery markedly reduces life.i believe safecar.gov must force ford to acknowledge this failure: this message sent to ford " my vin number for my c-max is [xxx]. It is a scientific fact total discharge of a battery followed by a recharge lowers the life expediency of the battery.this has happened twice.the first recharge was done with a ineffective software change. The second recharge was done with an improved software change.question to be answered by ford. Because of ineffective software my battery life has been reduced. As a result ford is obligated to compensate me for these failures. My question to ford is:"what will ford do to compensate?"information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My 2013 ford c-max hybrid battery is dead in the garage again.no electrical systems were left on overnight.the car does not have a traditional battery to start the engine; it uses the hybrid battery to do that.this is the 4th time my car is dead.i called aaa twice and charged/jumped it myself with a battery charger the other times.i took it to the dealer twice and they could not find any issues, of course.i previously reported poor mpgs for this vehicle, i am wondering if a faulty battery or related electrical components is the cause for both issues.i have seen this problem reported on several other consumer complaint web sites by many people.this apparently is a chronic issue for this vehicle.my warranty is almost up, if i am having issues throughout my warranty period with this issue (with no resolution), what happens when jumping the battery fails to bring the car back to life after the warranty runs out?i request an investigation into this common issue and press ford to fix the issue and extend the warranty on the battery and charging electrical system.

Our leased ford cmax was parked thurs nov 8th withall doors lockedwindows rolled completely up and remained un touched,un driven, keys not touched at all until several days later we came home in other vehicle sun late morning noonish to find that our leased ford cmax hybrid had all 4 windows rolled completely down doors unlocked without being touched, driven, keys not touched either for 3 days prior.the 2 keys that came with it were in their normal storage place at our home. When we left the leased ford cmax had all 4 windows up.this happened again the following sunday nov 17th 2013 mid morning early afternoon under the exact parking placewindows completely up doors locked we came home again ford cmax had all 4 windows rolled completely down doors unlocked.no body else lives with us or even has access to the keys nor did we touch the keysand did notdrive the cmax for days prior to each incident.the 3rd time a sun nov 24th 2013 i did finally take videoshowing the cmax with windows down doors unlocked.this has not ever been mentioned that it is possible or that our leased ford cmax can roll its windows down all by itself multiple times.

Car will not start. Electrical system totally dead. Only variation ambient temperature dropped to 32 degrees last night. No other logical reason for electrical system to fail. Called service department to inform of car trouble, mechanic informed me he has several new cars on the lot with the same issue.

Purchased used c-max 2013 on or about 15 october 2014.visited ford dealer 3 times. The next morning the car was found dead in our drive way. Charged the battery at 12 amps for 2-2.5 hours and read 75% charge.there were no indications of battery or charging system malfunction.called the ford dealer and tried to drive to dealer located 15-20 minutes away.stopped at red light and proceeded through light when green.got to the green light side and the battery light flashed for 2-3 seconds, blinked and the car quit.speed under 10 mph.hwy speed 50 mph limit. With the car now in the off position you have no power steering, no power brakes, no emergency flashers and no brake lights due to battery failure. One day later they found that the charging dc/dc system module had failed which is why the battery failed.the battery light came on at or about 12.0 v instead of 12.8 volts which would have indicated a failed charging system (like the old alternator light but this vehicle does not have an alternator).no battery/charging system monitoring system gauge present in standard instrumentation panel.i believe that there is an error in the computer monitoring system to alarm at 12.0 v (dead battery voltage) verse 12.8 volts showing a failed charging system component.posted alert on c-max form to buy volt meter to plug into 12 v socket to monitor until ford fixes both the warning light and also makes the charging system components fault tolerant (have 3 or more parallel system with alarms).called ford.wrote ford a letter advising them of this condition.

The car shuts off while i'm driving with out any warning.

The lift gaterepeatedly continues to crash down on my shoulder and back after having to physically lift open the lift gate because the buttons or controls to opera lift gate would not work would not open without me lifting it when i completely opened it and went to lean in my leased ford cmax the lift gate camedown crashing ontoon my back shoulder neck as i was leaning well into the rear hatchback area.this continues repeatedly having to physically open lift gate and then it crashes back down on me without touching any buttons or even trying to close it.i reported incident at time i took leased ford in again for recall service and still ford says the recall work is complete and the liftgate actuator has never been replaced after multiple complaints and multiple attempts to bring it to dealership for service on our leased cmax .this has been reported to ford dealership and had to go into ford for warranty recall notice of lift gate actuator was to be replaced as well.the lift gate continues to have issues and will come down while i am underneath and it has to be manually closed and opened buttons work occasionally never for longer than a week besides it comes down and actually bounces back up off my body to come crash down again before i can try to get away.

Just bought an off lease 2013 ford cmax for my wife and in the passenger visor mirror i found a note from the prior owner stating that the vehicle is a lemon because it didn't start 7 times in the 2 years he leased it. What are we in for?i read that non start is a problem with the cmax.

At 35 mph entire display and operatingsystem catastrophic failure completely shut down all but motor to get us .75 mile back home windows locked ac shut off in 109 degree outside temp with our service dog for search and rescuein car with us no sync system or driver infodisplay no ability to open doors or unlock doors or windows could not turn ac back on in 109 degree outside temperature we got home called dealer where we leased it from and we were told "just jumpstart it that's what i did for a prius".

I purchased my car used from a dealership in april of 2016.i leased the same model previously with no problems.i went out of town for an extended time and came back to find the battery dead.i was surprised, as i often travel and had no problems like this with the other c-max.i called a service, they got it started (with some difficulty) i drove it for about 45 minutes and it seemed fine.several months passed and i went away, came back and car was dead.aaa started it.i drove it for some miles, then stopped it .it wouldn't start.i had it towed to the dealership.it was sunday, so they were closed.they went out the next morning and it started.they went through my car and could not find any problems.it drove fine for several months, and i went out of town again for extended time.came back-car wouldn't start.this time i had purchased a battery charger, in case this happened again, but it was not powerful enough to get the car going.called aaa and they started the car.i drove the car for about 1 hour, on the freeway, came home and everything seemed fine.dealership told me that "something must be draining the battery" but could not find a problem.today, 2 weeks later, my car is once again not starting.i noticed yesterday evening, that everytime i got in the car, it would not start.a message would come on saying it was shutting down to save the battery.a blue line would appear and when it had "loaded" all the way, i could start my car.today it is totally dead, and wouldn't start even with a "jump".so i am stuck until monday.even if i get it started, i don't trust that it won't start the next time i turn it off.

Purchased vehicle in may 2013 and since then 4-5 times the battery has gone dead while the vehicle was just sitting parked. Sometimes for just a few hours. Nothing had been left on in the interior and the headlights are set to automatic. Have had car towed to dealer 2-3 times but they never find a problem. Last time it happened was just under a month ago and i had it jumped. The car had been sitting for a couple days. My husband took it to work last night (4/4/15) and came home around 8am. The car sat in the driveway until 9:30pm when he went to leave for work and it was dead again. This is a pervasive problem and needs to be addressed more fully than just asking people to not leave things plugged in.

6 of 21 available plug-in miles remaining, driving in normal freeway traffic. Vehicle suddenly lost power and went into "stop safely now" mode with wrench icon and red warning triangle. Vehicle retained minimal power availability and was eventually able to limp vehicle out of traffic and onto side road. Called two different dealers and was told to wait a few minutes and restart. After 10 to 12 minutes and three restart attempts, finally restarted with full functionality restored. Error again appeared just as i reached home. Called dealer again and was told battery must have overheated; check again in the morning and it should be fine. This is the third time the problem has occurred since purchase in mid-june 2012. Each time taken to dealer they can find "nothing wrong with the vehicle - no error codes set."concerned about the sudden loss of propulsion power in freeway traffic, and limited knowledge of service people / limited retention of error condition codes by the vehicle's computers. Running a ford sync vehicle health report immediately after the event occurs shows all systems "okay."

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. While the vehicle was stationary, the battery saver warning indicator turned off and the following message displayed across the instrument panel: "911 assist is disabled, contact dealer". Immediately afterwards, the shifter indicator displayed on the instrument panel. The contact turned the key in the ignition, but the motor did not indicate that it was ready to drive until approximately one minute later. The contact placed the shifter into reverse and attempted to reverse, but a sudden loss of power steering occurred. The contact placed the vehicle in the drive gear and depressed the accelerator pedal in an attempt to stop the vehicle; however, the vehicle accelerated beyond 35 mph. The contact attempted to stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal, but the vehicle would not stop. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to bob moore ford (8948 s i-35 service rd, oklahoma city, oklahoma 73159) where it was diagnosed that the inner cell of the battery was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.

Cpm takes over vehicle operation and eliminates use of accelerator. Vehicle self accelerates to maximum of 35 mph. Electric brakes become very sensitive, becoming jerky and stop its movement very fast. The vehicle has repeatedly went into this mode at 800 miles, 1800 miles, 2200 miles, 2300 miles and approximately2350 miles. For motor company and local ford dealership have not been able to remedy the problem after 4 attempts to do so. Unable to get sufficient information from fmc to determine if its a fleet wide problem or a single vehicle problem. The unusual problem makes the vehicle very hazardous to drive and unreliable to use on public highways.

Twice in past two years the radio has suddenly stopped working while engine running, but would not turn off.thus, battery was drained overnight when car was parked.the first time this happened (late 2014 or early 2015), the dealer reset the system and replaced the battery.no problems until thursday 4/7/16 when again the radio suddenly stopped while car was running, and would not turn off, again draining battery by 4/10/16.i am concerned that this is a defect, which a simple reset does not fix.

Went to start car first thing in the morning for work and it was completely dead.had to jump start. Took to dealer. They kept overnight and ran tests but could not find anything wrong. Second occurrence on 1/25 - same thing - completely dead - this time it was mid afternoon after sitting all day at work.had to jump start again.taking to dealer in the morning.there appears to be no apparent reason it just doesn't recognize it has power and nothing works.

On or about12/21/2013c-max failed to start, late on rainy night on federal reservation.hybrid battery failed. Sheehy marlowe heights recharged hybrid battery changed software returned car. With mileage reduction to 38 mpgcar was defined as a mixture between 2013 and 2014 part build.on 31 may 2014 car again failed to start.hybrid battery failed. Serviced by sheehy ford springfield returned 2 days later with mileage reduction to 38 mpg.requested ford engineering review of two failures. No report from ford as of this date.

Abs failed causing car to slide on slick surface, and airbags did not deploy in front end collision.

One month after the electronic steering module failed (as previously reported here) & had to be replaced, the rcm module failed.advanced traction control, and airbag lights were/are lit on dashboard.i drove without a functioning airbag for 10 days while best ford nashua tried to replace the module which is out of stock.yesterday 6/6/14 ford nashua provided a rental car until they can get the part.

I was in an accident, driving approximately 25 mph when i hit the brakes with approximately 20 feet of distance, the anti lock brakes failed to engage causing the car to slide, and rear end the car in front of me, upon impact the airbags did not deploy.

At first the cmac would not start followed by all the electricity in the goes dead (horny lights radio now have everything). I was then driving at about 45 mph the car slowed down by itself while i was pressing the gas to about 5 mph and i could not go above that. The slowdown was immediate like the car downshifted in the lower gear. The dealer says they do not know what caused it but they saw the 12volt battery adda bad cell and so they believing that that's what could've caused all the problems.i contacted ford and they said to let the dealer handle it. My main concern is the car coming to almost a full stop in the mitts of high-speed especially with no prior warning or indications.

Vehicle continues to accelerate at slow speeds when accelerator pedal is lifted on slippery surfaces causing vehicle to slide and spin.completely unsafe to drive under these conditions.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shut-off without warning. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer on three separate occasions for service. Each time the vehicle was towed to the dealer, the vehicle would resume normal operation upon arrival and the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The car shuts off while i'm driving with out any warning.

Car won't start nor can the doors be opened with the fob or keys after sitting in garage overnight.car is completely dead. Has happened 3 times since dec 2017, towed to ford dealership. First time battery was replaced.car died 4 days later.no warning that the car is dying. Ford has no idea how to fix it and plan to return dead car to me since they don't know what's wrong.can't drive for fear of car shutting off without warning creating dangerous situation, or stranded in crime area, or with no cell service.car was in my home's garage stationary every time it wouldn't start in the morning. Nothing left on inside car.mileage around 32,000.

My car showed me signal of coolant overtemperature then later when i was driving it stopped on me few time saying stop safely now and then i had to take it to shop and they said it was tranmission..

While driving at 35 mph on highway 90 in biloxi, ms, i received a "stop safely now" red triangle warning on my 3 week old 2013 ford cmax hybrid. The car died and i was stopped in the turning lane of heavy traffic. I called the biloxi police department for assistance in getting off the road safely due to the high volume of traffic.

Vehicle was parked for approximately 45 minutes.upon return to thekey was inserted and then turned to start.the gasoline engine immediately started and went to max engine rpm then appeared to shut down via the engine overspeed sensor.as soon as the engine speed dropped to zero, it again repeated the high rpm overspeed.this time the key was turned to the off position.it was noted that no warning lights or messages were displayed.the interior of the vehicle was examined and nothing was near the accelerator pedal.the key was returned to the start position with the same overspeed condition happening again.the key was immediately turned to off.again no warning lights or messages appeared.the vehicle was allowed to set for about 5 minutes.the key was turned to start.the engine did not overspeed, but was notably surging at idle.vehicle was placed in gear and driven four blocks, with the engine surging, to the owners driveway and parked.the ford dealer was contacted.they advised to "drive it in so we can look at it".i advised that i felt it was unsafe to operate to the possible rapid engine acceleration.a wrecker was called, upon it's arrival, the vehicle was started by the wrecker driver, he stated that the car seemed to be fine.while driving the vehicle onto the wrecker bed, he experienced the sudden engine overspeed.he then stated, "now i see why you don't want to drive this".the vehicle was then delivered to the ford dealership for examination, and hopefully, repair.

Stalls while in motion on .had stopped for a light when i went foward the car stalled, then stalled 2 more times in less than 1/8 th mile .then the car sat for 1/2 hr then was all right the rest of the way home.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after being serviced. The vehicle had to be jumped in order for it to start. The contact was told that the vehicle could have problems if the incorrect oil filter is placed on the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer but they had not been able to determine what caused the failure. The manufacturer stated this was a known issue but they do not have a fix.the failure mileage and current mileages was 3,000.

As of currently this is going to be the 10th time that this vehicle has been at dealership for repair ( factory recalls and repairs ). This last time was because of a faulty transmission that took over 3 weeks to repair.

My cmax was working fine after owning it for about 6 months.i started it one morning and it would not turn over.very fortunate to be at home in my own driveway. Talked with dealer and ford customer service.had car towed car to ford service center.i was leaving town, had ended lease for home with no place to live the day after the car quit working. Stayed with friends while ford tried to fix car.after a couple days mechanic first said water pump problem, then radiator problem.said they had been trying to remove defective parts. They had contacted their own service people and were told to unbolt brackets above parts to remove them.they said that was impossible because the brackets were welded in.no solution in sight and i had to leave town. No choice but to buy another car.bought a smaller 2014 ford fiesta, but went from a $9k loan balance to a $15k loan balance.received two cmax recall notices for subsequent problems because my cmax apparently still has my name on the registration from april, 2014.it's now november 20, 2014.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the navigational system failed to provide proper directions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

The owners manual, third printing does not match the am/fm/cd with sync configuration of my c-max.on numerous occasions i have contacted ford about this issue but have been stonewalled.they have sent me a first printing manual which does not match the configuration of my car.i have spoken on the phone to the consumers desk numerous times and always received the statement, "we are sorry"i have asked this customer service desk to file a formal complaint, i have written letters to ford and received no reply.i need help from your office requiring ford to produce an owners manual that matches the configuration of my c-max. This is a safety hazard because while driving the lack of knowledge of how the voice operated system works. It is impossible to be safe if their are no operator instructions.

Car electronics will not shut off. Radio remains on continuously, even with keys removed and doors locked. No chimes to indicate if car is on/off. At other times, car navigation and electronic systems will fail. Failures and non-response can happen while in motion. Radio not turning off after engine off and parked.

2013ford c-max.consumer writes in regards to vehicle not getting advertised mpg and seeks reimbursement .the consumer stated the window stated the vehicle would get 47/47 mpg. The consumer stated he is getting 32.4 mpg.

The connectors leaked internally through the injector and rotted all the parts. Engine light came on and the car started to shake violently.

I put the car in reverse to back out of the drive way and when i stopped, i couldn't go backwards. I pulled forward and parked. Pulled back again and the car didn't do it again. The engine light did come on and i took the car to the dealership. They had it for two weeks. Ford said it is a "reverse delay problem" and they know about it. Ford is working on a fix.ford is knowing selling the c-max with a drive train problem and does not consider the "reverse delay" a safety problem. I do consider it as a safety issue and trying to get the car returned and ford will not take it back.

We complained of scratching sounds in the rear brakes on 5/14/2014 and 13k miles. The dealer stated that the pads and rotors were worn to a minimum with no evidence of sticking calipers. Rotors were replaced under warranty.we complained of the same scratching sounds at 18k miles on 11/17/2014 and were told they checked ok. We complained again on 8/12/2015 of the same issue and were told that both the front and rear brake rotors were rusted and pitted and needed replacement. On 8/26/2015 at 25k miles we brought the car back to the service manager and were told the same thing and that ford would not warranty the problem. Pads were not worn at this time. On 9/10/2015 we contacted ford customer service (case 7858931-n9w5d9) and were told that ford would not honor a warranty. We contacted two independent mechanics. Both stated that rotors wearing out in 13k miles and a little over one year was abnormal. Both agreed that replacement was necessary for safe operation.issue: early and improper rusting of brake rotors (1 winter, 13k miles) that compromise safe operation.

Abs failed causing car to slide on slick surface, and airbags did not deploy in front end collision.

During a two-leg road trip from orange county, ca to park city, ut via las vegas, on the first leg just outside las vegas i got a warning message "steering assist fault:service required". Car did not lose steering assist however after the next key cycle (off/on) a steering assist failed message appeared and vehicle lost steering assist. The vehicle was driven carefully to the nearest ford dealer . They told me the fault was caused by excessive tire pressures (really?) and they had set the tire pressures and reset the fault code (c102d - excessive friction in steering rack). On the second leg around 40 miles from destination the same thing happened again - same fault code, same result. Car was taken early next morning to nearest ford dealer in park city. After a short time they diagnosed the problem as a faulty steering rack. They issued a loaner car while steering rack assembly was replaced under warranty. It's my opinion that this was a potentially serious safety issue and after reading of similar occurrences on other ford vehicles, i believe further investigation is warranted.

Flat towing with my rvfrom a stop hard turn and accelerate the vehicle will wobble out of control forcing you to come to a,complete stop and then re accelerate from a straight position. After starting (push button start) and driving out of my garage, the power steering failed and a "service power steering soon" warning was displayed.after i stopped and started again, the power steering was again enabled.i took the car to the dealer but no repairs were performed as they could not duplicate the problem.error code u3000:49 was stored.

Stopped to get gas.after fill-up car started but steering was gone, lights on dashboard "check power steering now".was 75 miles from home.had to be towed, car in shop for weekend until tuesday waiting for electronic steering module. Towing, car rental and part replaced at ford's expense.there are multiple reports of similar problems on new ford small cars on various internet ford cmax forums.according to reports on internet, this can reoccur and has happened at speed after the module is replaced.

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. While driving at any speed, the steering made a clunking noise, stiffened, and would not turn. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The contact called autonation ford north canton at 330-238-3206 (located at 5900 whipple ave nw, north canton, oh 44720), but was unable to schedule an appointment due to their tight schedule. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering gear assembly failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that it was not covered by the warranty. The failure mileage was 80,392.

The steering power box apparently failed on sept. 18 when i was going to work. The check power steering light came on and then the steering wheel locked up when i tried to back out of my parking place and then when i tried to ease back into it, i had it towed to mccafferty ford in langhorne, pa where it was diagnosed as the steering power box failure. I did a google search and found the 2014 cmax hybrids have been recalled for this issue. Also - the google search shows that a lot of 2013 model owners have had problems with the steering control box - same as me - but the ford dealers are making them pay anywhere from $1,500 to $1,900 for the repair (i am being charged @ $1,800.) clearly it seems to be a problem that ford should remedy - and not expect their customers to pay for it. (i have owned ford cars for almost 30 years and never once have had this kind of problem with any of them.)

While driving down the road on the highway the power steering went out almost causing .a wreck. The power steering light came on found out there is no way of putting power steering fluid in vehicle. Its a eps system failure ,ford dealership told us it would cost $2000.00 to fix.then we seen on the internet several other people with the same complaint.

Light came on saying service power steering. Almost impossible to steer it.was told by the ford dealer it is a $2,000.00 fix. Research showed me that other models have had the same problem and were listed as a recall but there isn't enough documentation yet on the c-max's to warrant including them.at 55,000 miles that seems very early to have this kind of problem. We love our c-max but this is a definite concern when your on social security 2,000 is a big expense for a fox at 50 somr thousand miles.respectfully submitted. [ any help would be appreciated. This is a 2013 car that should not have had to have the steering rack replaced at our cost because warranty has expired, as this should be considered a mfg defect!ford has had this problem with power assist steering for a long time.earlier models were recalled and it appears to fix the issueford hasreprogrammed computer so that you do not lose steering while driving, only after you shut off key and try to restart.however, this does not fix the problem.why is the steering failing, and the repair at$1500.00 is costly!

For several months, at startup, power steering had a delay for a few seconds, then performed normally. Yesterday the power steering went out and stayed out. About 10 seconds into the failure, received an alert tone and a "service steering soon" message. Without power steering this car is much harder to steer than any car with power steering failure i have owned. I was able to drive it, but gingerly and with great effort. If this had happened on a highway it probably would not have been as bad, assisted somewhat by rolling of the wheels, but at higher speed i would additionally have to overcome the centripetal force of rotation. It would be most dangerous if it had failed in a turn. The dealership said the electronic power assisted steering module was shorting out and the entire system had to be replaced and reprogrammed. The repair cost is $2000.

Steering went out 2 times taken to dealer couldn'tfind a problem, car was stopped called a tow truck ,driver of tow truck could not turn wheel11/18/2016

Drivers side door handle plastic chrome on the inside has come up and cuts your hand. It seems to be a defective handle but since my warranty is up they want to charge me $350 for the handle plus whatever time it takes to replace it. I have put a piece of tape on it for now but it looks terrible.

Rear hatchback latch fails to release. Driver can hear the latch motor activating while driving and door unexpectedly opened while driving which could result in ejecting cargo while the vehicle is in motion. After pulling over and closing the hatchback, it fails to re-open, stuck again, and the process starts all over. Dealership says motor and latch system for the hatch-back is faulty and needs replacing, and issued me a rental car for 3-5 days.they said it wasn't safe for me to drive it.luckily i happen to have an extended warranty however because this is a safety issue i'm reporting it.i've had latch problems with the side doors in the past, however those were fixed after a recall.side doors have some latching issues that continue but have not opened unexpectedly while driving like the hatchback.

Heard loud scraping sound from front underside of vehicle. Pulled over right away and saw that entire front edge of fascia at underside of front of vehicle had come loose and was dragging on road.

I went to open the hatch of my 2013 ford cmax hybrid and the latch completely came off. It was dangling by the license plate lights cords. I had to put packing tape on it until i got home. I called the dealer and he said to bring the car in. There is no reason why that part should have came off when i went to lift the hatch open. Then i got the warning light that the hatch was not closed. So i had to figure out how to open up the broken lift in order to get the hatch shut. The car was parked when i went to open the hatch

The contact owns a 2013 ford c-max hybrid. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages). The part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. Car electronics will not shut off. Radio remains on continuously, even with keys removed and doors locked. No chimes to indicate if car is on/off. At other times, car navigation and electronic systems will fail. Failures and non-response can happen while in motion. Radio not turning off after engine off and parked.

While driving the door ajar went on. I pulled over and i noticed that the lift gate was opened (on its own) and couldn't close. I visited ford and based on the recallfsa 16s30 i assumed it would be covered since they told me that the lift gate latch was defective. They informed me that the recall only covers all 4 side door latches and the lift gate is not part of it. This is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed,

While driving on the interstate we noticed a noise coming from the left front tire area. Whenever we stopped, i looked at the tire and noticed a large bubble on the sidewall of the tire. We purchased another tire and drove the car to a repair shop where we had the tire with the sidewall bubble removed and the new tire installed. We looked at the tire to see what had caused the bubble and noticed that there was a large square tire patch installed on the inside of the tire near the sidewall. This vehicle was purchased as a new vehicle and had michelin tires on it. This was a professional patch on this tire that had to have been done at the tire manufacturer or at wayne assembly plt. Where the vehicle was built. This is not a dealer or home repair. I am disappointed to learn that a tire like this could be installed on a new vehicle. This could have caused a blow out and serious injury to someone.

Thumping noise coming from front end at low speeds.sounds like front suspension is falling apart.

As of currently this is going to be the 10th time that this vehicle has been at dealership for repair ( factory recalls and repairs ). This last time was because of a faulty transmission that took over 3 weeks to repair.

Two months ago the sync would not respond. I was unable to make or receive calls, change the volume nor turn off the radio. I took it to the dealership. They said there is something wrong with the vehicle. Two days later i drove my vehicle to work, parked it and went inside. After my shift my vehicle would not respond to the fob. I removed the manual key and attempted to start the vehicle. The engine would not turn over. I took it to the dealership. They did a 120 point inspection. They said nothing was wrong with the vehicle and did a master reset. I contacted ford customer service and they told me to resolve it with my dealership. I informed ford that i had read about this problem online and there are hundreds of complaints about this same issue with owners of ford cmax and ford focus. The vehicles simply die and the dealerships cannot diagnose the problem. Ford customer service told me they were not aware of this problem and again referred me to my dealership. Three weeks later the same thing happened again. My vehicle was parked in front of my apartment. I had just returned from the store and needed to run more errands two hours later. The volume on my radio was not responsive. I could not change the volume nor turn the radio off. I immediately went to the dealership. Again, they could not diagnose the problem and simply did a master reset. The issue was never resolved and i'm afraid this could happen every month.

I have had my 2013 ford cmax (hybrid) in a ford authorized shop at least six times ( twice overnight) for the same issue:the intelligent access feature on the driver's side front door intermittently malfunctions.frequently it will either not lock or not unlock in the manner described in the owner's manual.after two or three visits to the shop, two remedies were tried.i should mention to you that the service technician at lithia ford in fresno told me on my second visit that a service advisory had been issued for this problem.the first remedy they tried was to clean the sensor and replace a couple screws .the second was to replace the entire handle.neither one worked.by the way, the car is still under factory warranty.i have repeatedly been told that the service department, '' is unable to replicate the problem.'therefore, there is nothing that can be done.i feel this is a safety concern for several reasons.among them, when parallel parked on a busy street, a delay in opening the door exposes me to being hit while standing in the street.additionally, when parked in a dark parking structure in a bad part of town i am exposed to potential attack while trying to lock or unlock the door.finally in a torrential downpour, i have gotten soaked because the door would not unlock.

Stalls while in motion on .had stopped for a light when i went foward the car stalled, then stalled 2 more times in less than 1/8 th mile .then the car sat for 1/2 hr then was all right the rest of the way home.

From park, sudden forward acceleration and hit wall, i hit the steering column, no braking, car reversed from impact, still could not change gears, pulled emergency brake and car stopped, engine still revving up, pushed button and it stopped.

The wife jumped a curb while parking and the cmax ran into a brick pillar causing damage to the front end, the airbags did not deploy. Wife said her foot was on the brake and the acceleration from a stop was violent.

Vehicle continues to accelerate at slow speeds when accelerator pedal is lifted on slippery surfaces causing vehicle to slide and spin.completely unsafe to drive under these conditions.
