Cruise control/horn have failed, andairbag light flashes. On/off. All failed at thesame time.

Air bag will not work due to air bag clock switch located in the steering column. Consumer says that she should not have to pay the replacement cost.

We have had to replace the clock spring mechanism for the second time in the past 14 months.the clock spring controls the air bag as well as the cruise control and other electrical functions on the steering column.the fact the clock spring controls the air bag is a safety issue which needs to be addressed by either a better clock spring or free replacement by the maufacturer.it has cost me over $200 to have this replaced this last time, over $400 the first time because i also had to have the turn signal switch replaced as well.

The contact owns a 1993 ford aerostar.the contact stated that his vehicle was produced with a higher than specified electrical load through the accessory power feed circuit.the potential for contact between the b2 (battery), a2 (accessory), and p1 (proof) circuits can occur; therefore, creating a short circuit and allowing current to flow through the ground wire.on numerous occasions, he noticed that the switch module melted and the instrument control panel lighting was inoperative.as a result, the risk of a severe fire increased.the manufacturer stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 99v029000 (electrical system:ignition:switch); therefore, they would not assume financial responsibility for the repair.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 168,000 and current mileage was 180,000.

While driving southbound on i-65 in nashville, my husband and i began to smell smoke and then suddenly smoke began pouring from the steering column of our 1993 ford aerostar.after pulling over on the side of the road, i removed our two small children while my husband attempted to shut off the van.although the van was in park and the keys had been removed, the vehicle still was attempting to crank itself and would not stop until we placed the van in reverse (with the parking brake on) and unhooked the battery.a man who stopped to help us alerted us to the fact that there had been recalls on the ingnition switch of several ford models which could potentially cause fires.this isa very dangerous situation and people should be alerted in order to save their lives.

Power windows do not go down properly.i have to manually push them down in order to open them.this started just after the car warranty expired.in november of 1998, i was unable to start my car.i lifted the hood and discovered a small flame on an electrical wire.i had already been having problems with the key not fitting properly in the ignition, the bell sounding even if the key were not inserted in the ignition and the digital read-out of the radio will work intermittently.i had the car towed and had to have a new starter installed.i would like to know if any of these problems has anything to do with the recall for the electrical/ignition system currently being performed?

To whom it may concern : i have had my vehicle repaired by jack demmer ford at a cost of $3600.00due to multiple electrical problems. All harnesses were replaced. I have the old ones which i can make availableto you . The burn marks in the middle of the harness away from any connectors suggests a serious problem which seems like the same type of problem you just investigated ford about.

Two radiator replacements within 11,000 miles due to leakages around seal. Dealer and manufacturer were notified. Also the rear door lock was inoperative, the door lock actuator was replaced.

The contact noticed that the transmission transfer case was fractured and fluid was leaking. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Consumer started experiencing vehicle gear failure, drive stopped completely. Vehicle was towed to dealership after receiving nhtsa recall 97v-204/manufacturer's recall notice 97s-83 for driveshaft. Dealer repaired driveshaft, and charged consumer $2,500 for transmission damage caused by defective driveshaft.

This problem was supposedly fixed in nov. 1998 by family ford mercury in carlisle, pa in accordance with mfg. Recall 97s83. However, the recall specifies the replacement of the original steel drive shaft with an aluminum drive shaft. During the repair of the vehicle it was quite apparent that the vehicle did not have an aluminum drive shaft installed. Apparently the recall was either not performed or not performed correctly causing a potentially dangerous failure. I have asked ford to reissue the recall on this vehicle and they have declined.

This vehicle was recalled in nov. 1997 for drive line failures associated with the tranfer case and driveshaft. The dealer made the repairs at that time. A vibration has occurred now and inspection shows excessive wear in the transfer case, and very likely has created a problem with the rear differential. The local dealer was contacted and they said they will do nothing to remedy this problem. The approximate costs 0f repairs is $2000.00the situation is extremely dangerous if the driveshaft does indeed drop from the back of the transfer case. Also this vehicle was recalled in march 1999 for power circuit and potential fire hazards. Since the repairs were made we have experienced problems with the accesorys working when the switch is in the wrong position, and the air bag light coming on periodically. We contend that ford attempted to make the necessary repairs, but due to poor dealer support, the vehicle is as unsafe as it was prior to repairs being made. Any assistance you can give us in fixing this injustice would be greatly appreciated.

At 33836 miles the transmission went out and they the dealer replaced it,again at another 34000 miles the next transmission goes out and now the dealer says that because of the over all miles combined that they will not fix it. On top of this ,its a lease and im needing to have it fixed before jan 1999 and i have no way to pay for this out of pocket and when i talked to 1-800 ford they said its not really there problem they just make sure that the dealers do the warranty work they are to do. While attempting to put the vehicle in reverse and back out of a parking space, brake linecracked and all the brake fluid came out of the vehicle.

There is a fitting for the brake line, mounted to a bracket behind the right front wheel. The rubber line popped off the pin that holds it in place, dumping the break fluid and leaving me with no brakes. I had hit the breaks to avoid hitting a dog. Fortunatly there was no immediate danger that would cause an accident. I was able to steer around the dog. If there had been a car that pulled out i wouldn't have had any chance to stop. This is the secont time this has happened. Last time i was taking the transmission out of park on an incline when the other side popped. I feel this is a serious problem.

There was adesign flaw insteering column.wire ribbon ring that's inside ofsteering column, which gives power to air bag/ cruise control, and hornhas cracked as a result of ribbon being too short and folded over,vehicle hadno horn/no cruise control or air bag.dealer contacted.

While turning left in an intersection the steering wheel lock up on my aerostar ford '93 that caused me to turn over to the left and hit the opposite lane and hit a car. I was unable to straighten out the wheel as it locks up. After it was restarted the steering wheel was fine and 2 mechanics that i brought it to can't find any problems.

I was told by the ford dealer in hays kansas that this shift linkage is a common problem but there were no recalls on it that he knew about.

This spindle failure happened with no warning.thank god that none of my three kids were injured and also myself.this happened at a very low speed under braking.i was in route to thomasville georgia to take my three kids to go back to there moms.thank god for saving our lives.

Backed into pine tree in driveway. Shattered plastic bumper cover. Can not replace bumper cover because ford says obsolete. Also no after market bumper can be found for this model. This bumper protects no one. Ford won't even give me the ford part number. Its a cargo van. Other model covers can be bought from after market sellers but not the cargo van. Only place to get one is junk yards if you are get lucky. Most of their covers are busted also. A car is a hazard without a bumper.

Two radiator replacements within 11,000 miles due to leakages around seal. Dealer and manufacturer were notified. Also the rear door lock was inoperative, the door lock actuator was replaced.

The rear hatch anchor held by 2 struts, broke. The bolts sheared off. Vehicle was parked. Released the tailgate & gave it a little push. Was rising the hatchback when the bolt broke off & hatch slammed shut on owner. Took vehicle to dealer, but part was not available. Mechanic will order replacement part.

The rear strut that holds up the tailgate exploded as the tailgate was closed at the grocery store. It sent a metal piece shooting through the air, striking me in the head, then cotinuing on and breaking the front windshield in 3 places before finally stopping. I was sent to thedodtorwith a concussion, and blurred vision. I later had to return to the eye doctor because of the blurred vision. The vision and the headaches have since cleared up. I was very lucky i didn't lose an eye or someone wasn't killed. The piece of metal is about 12 inches long, and it struck me in my temple area.

They say "where there's smoke there's fire" so that's why i checked the fire button on the form.just to the right of the accelerator the carpet started smoking.we still don't know the cause.but, everytime we run the car an awful smell results.we no longer drive long distances.it's our only car but i we'll have to take it to the garage soon.with holiday bills this couldn't have come at a worse time.

Power windows do not go down properly.i have to manually push them down in order to open them.this started just after the car warranty expired.in november of 1998, i was unable to start my car.i lifted the hood and discovered a small flame on an electrical wire.i had already been having problems with the key not fitting properly in the ignition, the bell sounding even if the key were not inserted in the ignition and the digital read-out of the radio will work intermittently.i had the car towed and had to have a new starter installed.i would like to know if any of these problems has anything to do with the recall for the electrical/ignition system currently being performed?

Driver's side window is working intermittently. Also, passenger's side door won't open from the outside andinside when the consumer is trying to get out of the vehicle or getinto the vehicle.
