Pulling in or backing out of the garage. Stoping at a stop light, lunges forward: came close to causing property damage by running into another vehicle in parking lot or at stop light.safety issue, what if the car lunges forward at a stop light into incoming traffic, causing bodily injury and property damage.ford should have recalled this safety issue.i purchased this cause after the 10 year warranty extension was issued.the previous owner did not fix this, i just found out about it, now i will have to fight to get ford to cover a known safety issue, that puts my children at risk..

First off i couldn't get the date to populate the correct date this problemhas been happening for years but the year on the date section wouldn't change for me. So whenever iam pulling into a parking space like at the grocery store its like the car gives gas and lunges forward while as iam only doing maybe 3 mph i have to hit the brake harder because my foot is already on the brake from pulling into a parking space with a car on left and right of me in order to not hit the car that is parked in front.when putting the car into gear from park its like it lunges once i get into gear. When in park and i turn the steering wheel from left to right the car like lunges as if im giving it gas with it in gear with foot on gas. Im not sure what is wrong i've looked up my vin for recalls and nothing is recalled. I've also read other peoples complaints which some are the same or similar to mine and not sure why this vehicle is recalled.

The engine light came on after my car was service by a personal mechanic.when contacted, he informed me that the system just needs to be reset.while driving on the highway at 65 to possibly 70, the gas pedal disengage, i felt a jerk from the engine and car started to slow down by itself, the gas pedal would not engage when pressed down.luckily, i was close to an exit and took it.i stopped, prayed to avoid panic attack, the car would drive on reverse many times with no problem but would not go forward when pressing on gas except by itself very slowly.had to leave it at a church and went back the next day with my mechanic.the car would engage with no problem.i went to pepboys for a diagnostic test and was told to have my spark plugs changed. They did and service everything else, my bill was about $475. 2 days later, the same problem occurred, engine light came on and later on car stopped the same way again on the highway while going to work.had it check by a different mechanic, could not see any engine problem nor transmission problem, but advise me to take it to ford dealership to check engine light.i am afraid to go because my savings is not yet $500. To be able to pay for any service required.will keep you posted.

The car accelerates without warning when in gear, but stopped as in backing out of a parking space or sitting at a red light.it appears to be associated with running the air conditioner.it is very scary and i have had many close calls in hitting the car in front of me or even a pedestrian walking behind my vehicle in a parking lot.

After stopping at a traffic light the car only accelerated to 15 mph on a busy six lane street, the engine then died and the car was stalled in traffic. Upon turning the ignition off and re-starting the car it proceeded without any problems. Since this occurrence the engine will, without warning, accelerate to higher speed than i want to travel, and has also repeated the low speed and eventually stalling also. The dealership reports the the throttle body has failed, ford will clean the throttle body, but will not replace the part. The dealership reports that in 100% of the cases when the throttle body was cleaned as opposed to being replaced the throttle body fails and leaves the motorist stranded with a car that must be towed.

Fuel tanks may not have consistent welds between the fuel tank and the fuel filler neck, affecting the strength of the joint. In the event of a severe rear impact, an improper weld can result in a crack in the joint. This could illuminate the check engine light, cause a fuel odor, or allow fuel to leak out. Any fuel leak increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the affected fuel tanks to correct this concern

The wrench light came on and i lost all power, now it doesn't accelerate and the more also is a loud noise coming from the engine, it sounds like it's goung to blow up

The engine died, meaning no acceleration. I restarted the engine after a rest and it started and drove again. It happened again later that day and i noticed that the rpms surged just before the engine died. I took it to autozone to get the codes from the computer, and the codes are p2111 and p2104. The throttle body is the likely defective part.

Hi. The recall ford had on the throttle body issues back in 2013 when i got mine fixed.now 40 thousands miles later the car almost lunge into traffic at a red light 2 times.well the car is having the same problem as before i got the throttle body fixed. Ford in cabot told me it will have to be clean or the unit has to be replaced and that is around 500 dollars. What a scam they are pulling.this needs to be dealt with asap.i have to spend 100 dollars to have it cleanedscam. While the car is in motion. It has loss of power and runs bad.

You can be driving 15 mph to 70mph and the vehicle will stall it's still running but won't go you can turn thekey off and restart the vehicle and it goes. But it may go 2 feet or 20 miles i'm a auto tech i cleaned thethrottle body like ford said and ford reprogrammed the pcm and that did not help. The vehicle still stalls goingdown the road and you have to pull over and kill it and restart the vehicle. Ford just put a lot of bad parts onthese five hundreds mainly the throttle body.

On several occasions the vehicle would not go or extremely late response then lunge forward when commanded by pressing the accelerator. Often times when you are turning in front of other traffic. I have had several near misses with being stuck in an intersection or a very delayed throttle response lunging me into on coming traffic. The car goes into limp mode or the transmission seems to act up after this happens. I get a check engine light and a wrench light on the dash. Also the car has had uncommanded engine speeds at a stop sign or redlight. Seemed to happen more often when turning the wheel or the a/c is on. Also very dangerous. I have three kids i have to drive around and i feel unsafe in it. I have seen these exact same issues with this car all over the internet addressing faulty electronic throttle bodies and the cvt transmission. There needs to be a recall before some thing happens.

The contact owns a 2006 ford 500. While driving various speeds, the transmission warning indicator illuminated without warning. In addition, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was diagnosed as needing either a valve body or transmission replacement. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,000. Updated 01/05/17*lj

When you slow the car will quit and when you drive it on the open road you lose power no indication that anything is going to happen.no tool light comes on to indicate the problem.two years ago it started quitting on me and when you restart it starts right back up.on one occasion i tried to start it and it began to smoke and wouldn't start. Had to have it towed to a ford dealership where they replaced a modular in the transmission and it still wouldn't start charged $1500.00 had it towed to another mechanic where they replaced the climate control because the wiring had burned still continued to quit no one can tell me what the problem is complaints to ford are the same from many owners ford refused to do recall.some one is going to get killed when the car quits in traffic .ford has discontinued the transmission because it is faulty how can they build a lemon and not stand behind it.

Vehicle has rough or hard shift, jerks, every so often after driving for so long.

In sept 2012 the transmission completely quit on me. Was told by the local dealer that i needed acompletely new transmission ($6,000). Ok'd the repair only to find out no parts are available throughoutthe entire country. After waiting 12 weeks for repair to be completed still no parts, no repair. Calledford motor co. Consumer affairs dept. Whichoffered no help, no satisfaction. This cvt transmissionis a total failure andford accepts no responsibility. Had to take the total fallout (brought a replacementvehicle) on a bad product with no assistance from ford whatsoever. And to add insult to injury had topay $291 in order get the car released. Seems unfair.

The contact owns a 2006 ford 500. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle jerked. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a tune up and the spark plug needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure persisted on multiple occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

The local ford dealership, interstate ford, states our car's entire rear differential assembly is bad, is non serviceable, and is obsolete. We purchased the car new, it is accident free, and the dealership verifies the situation is not due to excessive wear and tear (only 101,000 miles on odometer and well maintained). We cannot fix the car, trade in the car, or sell the car. I've contacted ford twice to no avail. Our car is paid off, has low mileage for a 2006, and we planned on driving it many more years. Now it is defunct. Another car like ours is for sale in the area with over 244,000 miles on it; yet ford is telling me that the 101,000 miles on our car is all we are going to get.we filed a lemon law claim in 2008 on this car but subsequently worked with ford to fix some very serious problems.we have asked them to work with us and we have been refused.the car's rear assembly is getting louder and louder.the noise begins at accelerations of 35mph and over. The dealership told us that the rear axle could bind up at any moment and there is no way to know when. The car is now dangerous to drive in a very unseemly and untimely manner.

I've also read other peoples complaints which some are the same or similar to mine and not sure why this vehicle is recalled.

The first incident was when i was driving in town. I was stopping for a light and the car surged.later, as i was applying the brake, the car, jerked and surged.i had a recall notice of an rpm surge, so we took it into the dealership and they supposedly repaired the problem with a computer adjustment. About 2 weeks later, on the highway at about 65-70 mph my husband started to pass an 18-wheeler and when he accelerated, there was a hesitancy and then, the transmission "caught" and we were able to pass. Periodically, since that time, i have noticed what feels like a slipping of the transmission.

The contact owns a 2006 ford 500. While attempting to start the vehicle and shift the vehicle into gear, it would not shift and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the mesh belt within the transmission deteriorated and the transmission would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. The vin was not available.

Original owner unaware of issues with cvt transmission until i had one and investigated online .i had noise at park and idle also reverse sounded very strange. While i was lucky enough not to have my safety at risk at this time, if let go there is no doubtloss of propulsion was eminent. This transmission is either so complicated or so filled with flaws that no transmission shop i contacted will attempt a rebuild. Ford has a monopoly as this is only source for a remanufactured unit. If this is a throw away part then reman shouldn't cost 4300 plus labor. Aberrantly transmission was short lived maybe ford was aware of safety issues with their product.

A service bulletin 12n03 was issued. My mother-in-law's car shuttered and then stopped. The car was taken to the dealership where all maintenance and service had been previously performed. A throttle control and gasket was installed for a cost of $1177.00. If either the dealership or fmc and been proactive and told my widowed senior citizen mil to have this part cleaned, it is likely it would not have later failed and had to be replaced. Fmc refuses to take any action to make this right. The dealership is no responsive to two letters sent to them regarding this issue.

The transmission in my mother's 2006 ford 500, has failed. This car has 28,000 miles on it, was bought brand new, and has been very well maintained. As you can tell by the mileage the car is/was in pristine condition until her transmission problem. On 4/17/13 she left home, turned the corner and the car sputtered, then stalled and would not start, fortunately my sister and a friend were able to come and get the car off the road. Next day 4/18/13 she had the car towed ($45) to the local transmission shop who wanted ($5000) to repair the transmission, so she had it towed ($45) back to her house. On friday 4/19/13 she had it towed ($100) to the ford dealership 33 miles away. Today 4/24/13 she received a call from the ford service adviser that the transmission needs to be replaced, as it shows lots of faulty stuff in the circuits. I spoke with ford relationship center initially on 4/16/13 and numerous other times, and while they acted as if they would try to possibly assist with the repair, i called them today with the ($6,955) transmission diagnosis to replace the transmission, now came their so called sympathizing that there's nothing they can do help to get the car repaired. Their reason is there is no recall on the transmission, as well as the are not willing to assist with repair/replacement of the transmission, as the warranty on the transmission expired 8/29/11. She was very fortunate that she was turning onto a farm road when this happened, instead of being on a major highway, when the transmission failed, as the situation possibly could have been tragic.

To be able to pay for any service required.will keep you posted.

First noticed when i was in line at a drive through car would jump forward. It is getting worse as i was backing out of parking lot at the grocery store car jumped felt like the acclerator was stuck, i hit my brake and it felt as if it went to the floor. I almost hit another car thank god there was no one walking behind my car. It was frightning.

Transmission is broken and need replacement. Said to be non-repairable as ford discontinued making the transmission 3 years after introductioncar has only 70,000 miles on it.now i have large flower planter as i can't drive it!ford, but for this issue i had a perfectly usable/reliable car!now it is a safety hazard!what are you going to do about it!happens in motion

Throttle body malfunction, car put in safety mode, don't let you run more than 40 miles per hour, turning off engine to reset vehicle, i take it to the dealer for fsa title: engine idle rpm surge extended warranty field service action number: 12n03 (clean the throttle body and reprogram the powertrain control module), mechanic technician answer: transmission code, which is a lie, dealer don't want honor the warranty.

The contact owns a 2006 ford 500. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle lunged forward and stalled without warning. The dealer stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 162,000.

I work 30 minutes away from where i live and while i was on the road pressing the brake it was still accelerating... I even parked for fear of getting in a wreck and the rpm kept increasing as if 8 was pressing on the gas. I took it into ford apparently the recall expired: over 150k miles or 10 years whichever comes first.

My car just stops running in the middle of driving.the first time i was on my way to work in rush hour on a very busy highway and the wrench on the dashboard comes on my car just stops accelerating and i am able to get over to the shoulder without being hit.the car starts back up and does it again down the street.happened three times on my way to work.took it into the shop, of course it doesn't do it for the mechanics and nothing shows up on the diagnostics but after researching they see that it could be the throttle body (i did the same research since there have been so many problems with ford 500's among other cars doing the same exact thing).they decide to just clean the throttle body thinking it would stop and is the cheaper option ($350 instead of $1000) but it has done it again!this time to my husband (because he refuses to allow me to drive the car since it's unpredictable), in the middle of a very busy highway and almost gets him killed.so now i am looking at $1350 total when this should be fixed by ford.i have ready so many problems with this, why hasn't ford recalled the throttle body yet?????

Airbag failed to deploy in a crash with a vehicle which made a left turn in front of me. Speed was 35-40mph. I suffered fractured sternum as a result when my chest hit the steering wheel.crash happened in eagan, mn. On cliff road

I have had this ford 500 since 2008. My concern is having to have rear brakes replaced so often. I have been told that this has been a problem with the ford 500.i have driven fords all of my life, i will soon be 73, but right now i am ready to look at other car dealers.

When i pull into a parking spot my car lunges forward and i have to hit the brakes quickly to avoid hitting other cars parked in front of me or driving into the stores.recently while at lights i have felt the car try to accelerate while i am stopped and my foot is on the brakes.i always have to hit the brakes extremely hard in order to get the car to stop.

My car started to jerk as i was going up ahillcurveand as i tried to give it gas it stalled and then jerked forward and i hit an embankment. Now my car continues to do the same and iam afraid that it will cause another accident.

Engine died at 83,000 miles and the doors fill with water when it rains hard or for more than 1 day.

It has check engine light on, momentary engine idle, rpm surge when stopped or during low speed driving, such as turning into a parking or backing out of a parking spot.

There many issues motor just blew up today sitting in drive way i just bought it and started it and it blew up power steering wiring cadillac converters it has a lot of problems

Throttle body has been replaced twice now. Vehicle currently has 106,982 miles. Third throttle body needs to be replaced. Very dangerous for my teenager to drive as there is no warning when the acceleration won't work and she can be on a highway in traffic. Also, the back doors are constantly filling with water after a rain storm and need to be drained.

While starting my car ( parked ) with the front passenger window down smoke began to appear from behind the passenger rear view window. I saw a flame ( fire ) appear from behind the passenger rear view mirror.when i turned off the vehicle the flame went out. After the fire none of the windows will work and the interior lights will not come on manually or come on as usual when the key is taken out of the ignition.

There was a recall on the throttle body i took my car to my local ford dealer they said that they clean the throttle body and reset the computer in my car. And before i got home with it my car almost stop on me in the middle of the streets and would not go over 10 miles per hour, i call the dealership back and told them what happen they said the recall was only for cleaning an resetting the computer and the oem. And i had to pay for the replacement of the throttle body.well my car does not have over 150,000 miles and it is not over 10 years old. The extended warrant says. To replace or clean. My question is should i pay for my repairs. Or is it still covered by the warranty?.

All of a sudden the car started to run bit slow than usual before the incident and shortly after the check engine light came on. We took it to o'reilly auto parts and we were informed there is a malfunction in the throttle body and it needs to be replaced. The throttle body listed price is $562 and when we took the quote it was on sale for $331.99. We are yet to get this fixed and will keep the receipts for the records.

The wrench light came on and i lost all power, now it doesn't accelerate and the more also is a loud noise coming from the engine, it sounds like it's goung to blow up

The throttle body was replaced once due to random car surging.problem resurfaced a year later.this time ford said it was the alternator ($570).i don't think ford knows what's wrong with this car, but there is a safety issue.the car surges randomly.

The car has been accelerating and shutting down on the interstate in the middle of traffic.i contacted ford and they advised me to take it to the dealership to be fixed.to this date it has not.we received a recall to clean the throttle body and the dealership did and that is it.less than 50 miles later the car shut down in traffic with my two small children in there.that could have been a tragedy.took it back to the dealership and the dealer said to drive it and bring it back to clear the codes out.the codes of p2112, p2114 & p2104 all showed.when i contact ford's customer service department they told me if the codes showed then it would be covered for replacement and it is not.

The contact owns a 2006 ford 500. The failure mileage was 54,000.

Was pulling out of my ally onto a very busy street and the car just died! i had enough speed to pull into a side street. I had received a recall notice and took it in due to the car accelerating upon putting it in drive or reverse. I took it in and the "reprogrammed" the throttle actuator which is attached to the throttle body. It cost me $417.00 just to replace the whole throttle body. I spoke with the dealership about this but was told that by them reprogramming it they did their part.

While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating. After restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally. The contact owns a 2006 ford 500. When the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle came to a complete stop, the vehicle jerked and moved forward without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

Upon driving on the freeway,my vehicle suddenly has a loss of power and the instrument panel shows both a check engine , and wrench light. I either have to pull over to restart the vehicle or put the vehiclein neutral, and restart the car as it is rolling.this is an everyday occurance for a little over a year. The dealership mechanic said there has been many complaints attributed to the throttle body sensor; therefore,a recall of that part should the thing to come! unfortunately,it never happened.
