Fleetwood, tioga, 1997, dotvd1l1xa. All 5 tires have less than 20000 miles. Rear outer tire blewout at 16,000, then the rear inner tire blewout at 19,300. Both left dual tires blewout at 19,300.firestone steeltex tires, consumer also states that the right front tire blewout at 29810 miles.
While traveling on the interstate the tread portion of the tire de-laminated and separated from the main tire. I pulled over to check on the tire and it was still inflated it did not loose any air pressure but the steel belts were showing. I had the tire replaced and the tire technician had told me that he had never seen a tire have the tread seperate from the main body of the tire. I have 4 more tires on my motor home that are the same type and i am concerned for the safety of my family and do not feel comfortable with the tires. I had video taped the tire while still on the motor home and i have the tire and the tread if it needs to be inspected. (tiresize: 225 75 r16)( dot number:tire size: 225 75 r16 )

Dual right rear tires blewout at highway speeds.inside tire blewout a hole insidewall, andoutside tire tread separated, causing damage tomotor home.consumer also had a right rear inside tire blowout prior to these failures, dot number vdil1xa366 and vdil1xa386.

Consumer has a 1997 tioga motorhome. Original tires were on vehicle.tire size lt225/75r16. Dot#yd1l1xd167.front passenger tire tread came off while traveling at 62mph .consumer stated thatif tire had notbeen made of steel, could have lost control.firestone agreed to upgradetire after debate over problem. Firestone will charge to upgrade, mounting balancing & federal excise tax. Firestone steeltex radial r4s.
This is the second tire that has tread separation in less than 25,000 miles. The motorhome has the same tires on all 6 wheels. While in boone nc on 08/28/00 the firestone dealer had 6 that had been removed from an rv ( the same tire) that was requestedfrom the firestone plant to be sent back for additional investigation.recommend that this series also be investigated for hazardous tread separation.( dot number: vd1l1xa406 tire size: 22575r16 )
All six tires are having steel belts separation problems, consumer has only 12000 miles on the tires. Lt 225/75r16, original equipment, 12000 miles, class c, fleetwood, toyota motor home. The consumer replaced two of the six tires with different a brand, but firestone did not agree. Dot.# vdtl 1x0227.
