I purchased a 2016 fiat 500x in december 2016.i am a home care nurse so i drive a lot.i have had this same issue since buying this car and it's been in and out of the shop.it is now out of warranty and i am having to pay out of pocket.here is the story:when it rains heavily, in arizona, my electronics in my car go haywire.according to autonation, i have had the car in approximately 9 times.my power steering becomes disabled and my airbags become disabled.this time, i was driving down 7th street at 7:30am and this happened.i was luckily able to get the car to stop.no one seems to care what is eventually going to happen to me, is that i get killed.this car is a lemon. I need help before i die.
While sitting in a drive thru the cooling fan went out and was replaced at a cost of over $400.just a few months later, it happened again.
This car is a lemon and the dealership is fully aware. Since the beginning, the car will randomly say drive mode unavailable, even while in operation. It goes into neutral without shifting and always has. The transmission messes up if i switch into sport from auto on the highway and it always has. The steering wheel fell apart on my way home from work and i had to call the dealership, it has started falling apart again. The dashboard started coming apart and that had to be repaired. The trunk locks when it feels like it, and always has. I will close it and it will immediately unlock. This prevents me from locking the car and i don't know if it'll fly open if i try to drive it. I have to wait for it to lock. This can literally take hours!2 weeks ago, my car actually started by itself at 10:30 pm. I heard a car alarm and assumed it was a neighbor's car. It was mine. My keys were downstairs in my purse. I was upstairs binging law and order svu. I couldn't get the car to shut off. It was raining and dark and i live alone and i don't know my neighbors. Luckily someone came to help me anyway. The alarm and radio we're both blaring nonstop. The fuse for the fuel had to be pulled, to shut it off. This happened for two days in a row. Now it won't start. The battery is fine, the radio and lights and dash lights come on. Every possible mechanical failure code is showing up, abs system, keyless entry, power steering, remote start, airbags, check engine etc are all showing as defective. This car is a lemon. Pomoco jeep chrysler in nn, va, knows it's a piece of crap. Instead of labeling at what it is, they expect me to bring it in constantly and constantly be without transportation. If i didn't need a car, i would not have purchased one. I would like a certified mechanic, independent of chrysler and it's dealerships, to fully examine and diagnose the issues with my car.
The contact owns a 2016 fiat 500x. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the passenger's side turn signal intermittently failed to operate as designed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer heritage fiat located at 11212 reisterstown rd, suite b, owings mills, md 21117 who diagnosed that the internal switch was faulty and needed to be replaced. The switch was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 31,000.
The car states the electric parking break needs service. Brake is locked. Car cannot move. Also states transmission requires service. Vehicle received service two weeks ago. I've had issues ever since dealer conducted the cooling fan recall last month.
Service engine light comes on, with "drive mode not available" warning. Car shuts off for no reason while in motion. Restart, light goes off. Seems to be affected by change in weather.
Daytimerunning light. Brake light. Parking light all out same time vehicle only has 12,000 miles on it.
I am having issues again with my fiat stalling on me while driving down the road. This has been happening for a year 1/2 now and no solution via the dealership service department. I was almost rear ended on the interstate due to my car shutting off.this is time i was on the interstate going 70mph. I have had my car towed to the service dealership in the past for this same issue. They had it for a month and same thing keeps happening. This is unsafe and terrifying for me to drive with my two kids in the back.
My car has gone to the dealer repeatedly for the following issues: bad struts, loose engine mounts, overheating (broken fan), "drive mode not available", radio not working, and now messages saying lights are out when they are not (code says "pending code")this car drives terrible and is unsafe and unreliable- it spends more time at the dealer than in my driveway - it has 40k miles and is still under warranty
Around october 9, i tried to turn on the ignition as usual with the key fob. The engine would't turn, so i recharged the battery. After 10 minutes, it finally cranked. The battery is good, however, so i replaced the battery in the fob. On october 19, i used the key fob and all kinds of indicator lights came on. When i placed the car in reverse, several light indicators (service engine, check transmission, etc.) and it was like something inside the engine dropped as if the car shifted into another gear. The 'r' and the 'd' blinked steadily. I called and alerted the service department at brewbaker dealership, but the only availability was the following monday. By fate, the car began to operate better. For nearly a week, the ignition started to improve although it would take two tries. On the morning of october 29, the same problems reoccured from october 19. Instead of going to work, i drove the car straight to the dealership. They kept it overnight for service personnel to analyze the problem. In research of recalls, i noticed that my car is not on the recall list although the descriptions of defects fit what my car is experiencing.
My car didn't start and then finally did. While driving it stalled,all of a sudden i got control enough to park at work . With no warning signs i proceededto changebattery after work and it still wouldn't start then after attempting to start with new battery the car with lock symbol came out. Still at this point no warning was giving as i was driving this car perfectly fine until this. All this was on main streets.i have small kids andthis is not an accident that i would ever want with or without them because of a technical issue of a car.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,000.
I have had at least 5 incidents so far with my fiat turning completely off while driving down the road. I have taken it in numerous of times to the dealer with no luck. I have documented each and every time my car decides to shut off while driving. I find my car to be a safety hazard to me and my family as well as others. The dealerships seem to not know why my fiat tends to shut down while driving. First i had only about 25000 miles and it shuts off while turning in a 4 way intersection, fiat place had me take it in just to say it needed an update. Second time i stalled in my neighborhood with my children inside. Called the dealer, said it needed an update. 3rd time happened while driving it to the dealership the same day. Dealer had it for two weeks and said it was a new update that caused my fiat to turn off completely. 4th time happened while i driving down the road at 45mph and dealer had me bring it in and said it was caused by my key fob battery ( literally just changed the batteries the day before). All bs from the dealers mechanics. So i called fiat customer service and they told me i should not be driving the vehicle at all, i should return the car to the dealer to have them run test. They had it for a month and said it was caused by my driving habits and they could not do anything about it. Sonow my fiat decides to shut off while driving 70mph 49000 miles on the interstate, thankfully i was in the slow lane and was able to coast to a safe position to put my car in park and restart.this has been happening since the 3rd month of ownership june 2017.
Vehicle fog lights have an issue where one lightgets too much voltage, causing it to burn out the bulb and the holding unit. Sometimes the bulbs will randomly switch (for example one day the driver's side will be out, then the next day the passenger side). I have taken it to get repaired: the mechanic replaced the bulb and the holding unit and issue happened again a few months later. I then took it back, the mechanic checked my alternator which was fine and putting out correct ac and dc voltage. He told me he called fiat and they were aware of this being an issue but don't know why. The car was being driven on back roads (so going under and up to 45mph) the very first time the light went out. After the first time, i would turn the car on and it would be out, other days it would be on and wouldn't go out at all, or it would go out later when i was driving. There was really no consistency to the issue.
Engine overheated after minimal driving in manhattan despite sufficient coolant levels. Safety features are defective (rear and side warning indicators) work intermittently.

Over the past two years i've had to take my vehicle in to the dealership numerous times. The car will accelerate on its ownwithout touching the gas pedal,switch gears on its own, accelerate while making a stop, uncontrollably jerk well moving at a slow speed's and display messages such as drive mode unavailable at random times while driving. This car is dangerous to drive and has almost created an accident numerous times while i had my children in the vehicle.
My wife told me of this happening to her and i didn't believe her until it happened to me.so, i'm driving down neighborhood streets at about 45 mph, the posted speed limit, and i go to cross an intersection and the car loses all power with traffic headed towards me.luckily, it regained power a few seconds later, but i feel we've just been lucky so far.my wife has experienced this several times, on highways, neighborhood roads, etc. And i have experienced it twice now.the next day, the drive mode unavailable message came on when i started the vehicle and would not go.took it to the dealership the first time i experienced it and was told the old update story.took it in again and they kept it a whole week the next time and couldn't find anything wrong they said.it keeps happening, the computer keeps turning off our display, and i believe the engine fan may be going out now.not a good/quality vehicle at all and i feel like fiat doesn't have any answers for the problems as we keep being told "updates," yet it continues happening.
I own a 2016 fiat 500x, unsure of the model because i was told i was purchasing a trekking but paperwork states lounge 2. The vin number has brought up the different two models depending on what vin search you use. One issue with the vehicle, are the exterior lights. At the current time, it has a blinker, rear taillight and a brake light out. And when one light goes out, usually 2-3 other lights follow. This will be the 3rd time it's going in for repairs for that electrical issue. It is also consuming too much oil. Yesterday after i finally got it started, several lights appeared on the dashboard, park brake failure light, transmission malfunction indicator light and the esc light. When i put it in drive mode, a light warning me the drive mode was unavailable. The vehicle idles rough. Once i stopped at a stop sign and the vehicle jumped into neutral. The backup camera has stayed on before while driving down the road. Also 2 door handles have had to be replaced and the drivers side knob that has already been replaced once, seems to be sticking like the one before it that completely broke off.
The contact owned a 2016 fiat 500x. While the vehicle was parked, it caught on fire and exploded. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. The contact also stated that the fire caused structural damage to the home. The night before the fire, the vehicle was driven and the contact noticed an abnormal burning odor. The contact inspected the vehicle and saw no signs of a fire. The vehicle was destroyed and towed by the insurance company to a repair facility for inspection. The vehicle was inspected by the insurance investigator who was unable to determine the origin of the fire. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. Car has approx 26k miles. Driving under normal conditions this morning and warning came on "service engine. Drive mode unavailable".i had the sun roof open as i was driving and i kept thinking i was smelling a hot or burning smell, but couldn't be sure. I popped the hood when i got home and didn't smell anything obvious.don't know if this is related, but just had it in for oil change a week ago - they never reset the oil change light (which wasn't coming on before oil change - though low oil pressure light was coming on -- now low oil pressure light is off, but oil change light is on!).again, don't know if it is related but want to give all pieces of the puzzle.also my engine shuts off for no apparent reason while driving occasionally. Very scary! took it in to fiat and they gave me a lame excuse -- it just needed some updates! to me that is just unacceptable -- what if i had been going 70mph on the interstate and this happened!? i asked them that exact question at fiat and they just shrugged their shoulders. This is a serious safety issue and it is shocking to me that fiat is not taking it more seriously! after the "update" that they performed about 8 months ago -- all seemed fine until about a month ago. Car stalled as i was driving -- seemed to happen only when i was going over a speed bump or a rough road. That was not the case the first time -- first time i was on a smooth, flat road.i really feel like a safety recall should be done on these cars because after reading about so many other people having these exact same problems -- this is clearly an issue!
Since august 2019 , the 2016 fiat 500x has been in for electrical issues. In august 2019 a radio was replaced, the next moth a computer module was replaced, subsequently since october 8 2019, there have been three batteries installed. It is not a safe vehicle, it continues to leave me stranded . Today it had to be towed in again. I am going to be stranded and in danger. I was in van nuys , california in december when they replaced a battery, then february 7 , 2020 it was in mesa az when it had to be towed in again. Today march 11, 2020 it was towed in again, i don't know what they will do this time since 3 new batteries hasn't taken care of the issues. I am petrified to drive this vehicle. I went through arbitration on february 17,2020which was denied. I really need some help to resolve these issues
My fiat 500x 2016, has been changing from sport mode, to the traction mode, then out of no where it says drive mode unavailable. While driving. This is very unsafe.
Has happened multiple times where the push button ignition does not start the vehicle- instead the message drive mode unavailable pops up. This message has also appeared even when the car has started. Also, lost all connection on dashboard- no functionality whatsoever- took it to the dealership and was advised no code was thrown- but if electrical a code would not be thrown. Was advised to wait until it happens again and then call to bring in. This happened when i had drove the car for about 8 miles turned off and came back after going shopping for about an hour. No indication of an issue before or after. I previously had an issue with my entire radio/center console electrical system which required a replacement as this dealership stated no updates available.
1 year after purchase the car started having electrical issues, hard gear shifting, turns off or fails to start on first try, car has been serviced at south miami fiat since the issues started.the dealer could not identify the issues and told me that they would leave a warranty order open in the event that the warranty expired and the issue was not addressed.the dealer is basically not assisting.i have recently taken my car in for the oil consumption test; at first it failed to later be told that it's working just fine.problems do no fix themselves and i feel that the dealer is not being totally honest with the situation.i am aware that the consumer is on the losing end of this story, but i will say that i along with many others have had a less than desirable experience with fiat vehicles.can someone please respond regarding these issues.i know that the past 2 years have been strenuous on all, but this is my last effort to find a solution to this matter.i have reviewed many other owners with almost identical issues with their cars.thank you for your attention
On july 20, 2019, my 2016 fiat 500x parked in driveway. Pressed the ignition button to start and no startinstead all the warning lights started flashing in sequence. Coolant tempt too high! service transmission!service airbags! service power steering! service electronic park brake! every amber and red warning just continually repeats the flashing sequence. Of course, car does not respond to starting and no power buttons respond. No electronic brakethe battery is good. Coolant is not too hot because carhas not been started/driven for 5 days, since july 15, 2019. Total mileageis 10,005 milesto date! will have to tow to fiat. And be at their mercy.this car is like new. Not even driven every. Day.## vin passed ####
I bought this car second hand. 33200 miles still on the warranty. After few months, 650 miles of usage, a warning light for for the engine and "driving mode unavailable" started popping up, so this a plate light warning pop up as well. Brought to fiat, they said it was the thermostat which it was then changed and supposedly would fix the issue. Got the car back. After few days and 125 miles more again the "drive mode unavailable" warning pop up... Then the four wheal drive unavailable pop up..there was also a wheal warning popping up. Then out of a sudden, on a traffic light the car didn't want to start. I had to turn off the engine and turn back on. Once i turned the engine back, all kinds of warning signs came up. I was able to drive home. Then the engine light warning kept on. So did the "drive mode unavailable". Brought the car back to fiat right away. They said the battery was not tied correctly. Which i don't understand how it did happen and why they did not see that the first time they look at the car. Going to pick up the car tomorrow and hope will not going to have to report further issues.
The car is less than a year old and no more than 5000 miles. I now have a warning message "service engine - drive mode unavailable". Now remote start won't work nor will the traction control (i.e. The various drive modes).fiat dealership is unable to diagnose or fix the problem.
Like everyone else on here my car has multiple issues. Car shifts hard from first to second gear. Fuel car propulsion seems off, drivers side door handle broke, day time running lights don't work, touch screen on display quit working,car doesn't alert me of low oil level, it has shut off but i'm pretty sure it's a safety feature when your oil is to low so you dont blow your car up, car uses waaayyy to much oil,gas mileage isn't that great, brakes were replaced ever since a lot of times my car will screech when i go to apply the brakes, oh and battery is bad literally just replaced it had corrosion and acid leaking out. I really wanted to love this car but it's been kind of a disappointment. I am the second owner, i bought it in 2018 with about 45k miles and it just hit 100k a car four years old should not have this many problems it's really unacceptable. Its just my every day driver i maintenance it regularly and the miles are mostly highway miles. All of this just within 2 years and 50k miles pretty unbelievable. I am taking it to a fiat dealership this week to see if they can fix some of these issues
I have reported my issues of my car completely shutting off while driving down the street weather it be 25mph or on the interstate at 70mph. I have had this issue looked at by dealerships and it continues to happen. My last incident lmao this caused me to flip my can and hit another vehicle while traveling 65 mph. My car turns off completely, so then i have to put it in park one i'm able to come to a complete stop and restart. Sometimes this cause all my light to flicker on and off. My engine feels like it's going to vibrate out of the front of my car. This is a huge safety issue i've been reporting to my dealer and the mechanics for almost 2yrs now. I have contacted chrysler ( fiat service ) to get help to figure this issue out properly. I was told i may have to be in a wreck for anything to be done. Really, sad a tech would say something like that. My first time my car stalled i was at a 4 way turning to go home. This happens literally every month. I have children i have to drive around with my car stalling on my and completely loosing power to everything.
My car was stationary. Sitting in my driveway and i was cleaning the interior out. Listening to my radio. Then all the sudden a bunch of warning lights start going off. Pretty much all of them. I thought it was just dying so i tried to start it. The alarm starts blaring. Eventually the car shut it self off. And now it will not turn back on. It's just extremely scary thinking i could of been driving when this happened. The transmission shifts hard between one and two. And occasionally the radio turns it's self on and off. I just bought this car used with 43,000 miles. It's insane and incredibly unsafe with these issues. And now it's dead in my driveway. I get parking lights out and daytime driving light out indicator. Rough idle on cold starts sometimes.
My fiat 500x is brand new barely 350 miles...it has been towed twice so far and is presently being worked on now. I am afraid to drive it since it stalls out while driving and eventually will not restart. I have been researching online and have found similar issues. I feel unsafe driving this vehicle and could end up being in or causing an accident since i was almost hit both times my car stalled out...once on the highway and the other time most recently in high city traffic. I just want a replacement of equal value.
This vehicle has 3 recalls and i didn't see them all listed on your website. The new recall i will enclose in a document. The first recall was an issue with shifting into all wheel drive and connected to the electrical system. The cooling agent fan is malfunctioning which can overheat and cause risk of injury and possible fire in engine. I started noticing my check engine light would go on after start up even though i wasn't due for one. I checked oil and it was fine. My car started jolting forward and backwards when started .it would jolt backwards while in reverse.it's lost power after starting while reversing in my garge. At times i was afraid it would stall while driving on back roads and while slowing down for turns.on highway and main roads i started smelling heat from fromengine and could feel the engine struggling to function.it's at dealership now for recall. Happened again -- this is the third time this has happened since i purchased the car in nov 2016.engine shuts off while driving.fiat dealer apparently clueless about the issue and how to repair.took car to same dealer all three times this happened - each time they've given me a ridiculous reason the car is literally shutting off while i am driving down the street!! first time they said it was because the computer needed updating?!?!second time (posted on nhtsa when 2nd time happened) they said it was a loose cable connection to the battery - never once explained why car was giving the alert "drive mode unavailable), and now this third time they said they couldn't get car to replicate the problem.makes zero sense - car engine shutting off while driving and in motion 3+ times a day!!!fiat dealer kept car for 8 days - at one point told me it needed almost $2000 of work and that the reason engine was shutting off while driving was low oil pressure?!?!after i questioned them extensively about the charges and the supposed low oil pressure - they changed their story and said oil pressure was just slightly below normal and apologized about the $2000 charges -said i didn't owe anything??again, they could not give me a reason why car was shutting off and supposedly they couldn't get it to replicate the issue.so i picked up the car and it hasn't died on me once - so they must have done something to it.why the cover up!?!why does my car completely shut off while driving?!?!everything goes out when it does -- becomes difficult to steer and brake.seriously scary!!!

When driving the car its seems as if its not changing gears pushing the gas to accelerate its will let off a rushing sound with no movements then it will jerk and accelerate faster it mainly does this when taking off and turning onto another road where their is busy traffic that will eventually cause a accident with oncoming vehicles if the acceleration isn't at its speed.
I was driving on the highway and my car shut off without warning. The steering wheel locked up, the shifter locked, the brake locked. There was no safe way to bring the vehicle off the highway. I coasted off the highway into the grass. There was a sierra 1500 that was behind me that was fortunate enough to avoid hitting me. The fiat dashboard had no warning lights on, such as check engine, oil low, or any other indication that something was wrong. The dealership's response was it needed an oil change. There was no addressing the fact that my car was burning through oil at an accelerated rate and that the car itself turning off and locking up while in operation is "not a defect" or "a safety hazard". I spoke with the fiat dealership that i purchased the vehicle from and they informed me that there is nothing they can do as the factory warranty has expired. The factory warranty expired 1/1/2020. 127 days later, my car has this incredibly dangerous defect. Fca claims that no buy back option available due to the warranty expiration. They offer to have service attempt to fix the car but the issue is with the engine, not just changing the oil. There is no other engine that can be placed in this car to completely fix my vehicle. If another tigershark engine is placed in my car, there is no way to determine if it is defective until the car shuts off again unexpectedly while driving which can result in a fatal accident or injury. Fca's resolution is to continuously bandaid the situation. They are not offering to buy back the vehicle due to the manufacturer defect. I also have an efg warranty though the dealership i purchased the car from that is useless in remedying this situation also. The dealership points the finger at fca to fix this while fca points the finger at the dealership to remedy this situation. My car with the tiger shark engine is not safe to drive.

The other day my check engine light came on and said that my coolant level was low. I went a grabbed coolant and filled it up to the max line. For two days in a row now, i have been having lights randomly pop up on my dash. Such as drive mode unavailable, service engine, 4wd unavailable. It has also randomly stalled while driving with my son in the car. The dealership said there is nothing wrong with the car. Which there obviously is. I searched and numerous people have had the same issues with their 2016 fiat 500x, and the dealerships all say the same thing. Incidents have allhapened while the car was in motion. On neighborhood roads to interstate. At speed mileage of anywhere from 15-70mph.
I was making a slow turn in a parking lot and the car turned itself off while driving. While the car was in motion on the highway, the a/c abruptly stopped working and the vehicle immediately overheated.the fan assembly had faulted, the issue was corrected in october 2017 after the vehicle was held for 30 days because the part was unavailable.the new issue came up on start up, the a/c was not cooling and the check engine light came on, i dropped off the vehicle at the dealer and was told that it is a sensor in the right rear view miirror that is causing the a/c malfunction, they initially thought it was the fan assembly that had faulted again.the part is not available for (3) weeks.they said it was a nationwide shortage on the part (again).my question is should this be cause for concern?why would there be a nationwide shortage on a single part?and is this connected in anyway to the fan assembly failure.i love my fiat, but i dont need the issues, this vehicle is barely (2) years old.

Engine is very shaky when stalled at stop lights, etc. Service light recently came on and car was taken to the dealership for evaluation as it is still under warranty. The cooling fan needs to be replaced but is on a national backorder with no eta. Car can no longer be driven in traffic as it quickly overheats.
My wife told me of this happening to her and i didn't believe her until it happened to me.so, i'm driving down neighborhood streets at about 45 mph, the posted speed limit, and i go to cross an intersection and the car loses all power with traffic headed towards me.luckily, it regained power a few seconds later, but i feel we've just been lucky so far.my wife has experienced this several times, on highways, neighborhood roads, etc. And i have experienced it twice now.the next day, the drive mode unavailable message came on when i started the vehicle and would not go.took it to the dealership the first time i experienced it and was told the old update story.took it in again and they kept it a whole week the next time and couldn't find anything wrong they said.it keeps happening, the computer keeps turning off our display, and i believe the engine fan may be going out now.not a good/quality vehicle at all and i feel like fiat doesn't have any answers for the problems as we keep being told "updates," yet it continues happening.
I have reported my issues of my car completely shutting off while driving down the street weather it be 25mph or on the interstate at 70mph. I have had this issue looked at by dealerships and it continues to happen. My last incident lmao this caused me to flip my can and hit another vehicle while traveling 65 mph. My car turns off completely, so then i have to put it in park one i'm able to come to a complete stop and restart. Sometimes this cause all my light to flicker on and off. My engine feels like it's going to vibrate out of the front of my car. This is a huge safety issue i've been reporting to my dealer and the mechanics for almost 2yrs now. I have contacted chrysler ( fiat service ) to get help to figure this issue out properly. I was told i may have to be in a wreck for anything to be done. Really, sad a tech would say something like that. My first time my car stalled i was at a 4 way turning to go home. This happens literally every month. I have children i have to drive around with my car stalling on my and completely loosing power to everything.
I have had at least 5 incidents so far with my fiat turning completely off while driving down the road. I have taken it in numerous of times to the dealer with no luck. I have documented each and every time my car decides to shut off while driving. I find my car to be a safety hazard to me and my family as well as others. First i had only about 25000 miles and it shuts off while turning in a 4 way intersection, fiat place had me take it in just to say it needed an update. Second time i stalled in my neighborhood with my children inside. Called the dealer, said it needed an update. 3rd time happened while driving it to the dealership the same day. Dealer had it for two weeks and said it was a new update that caused my fiat to turn off completely. 4th time happened while i driving down the road at 45mph and dealer had me bring it in and said it was caused by my key fob battery ( literally just changed the batteries the day before). All bs from the dealers mechanics. So i called fiat customer service and they told me i should not be driving the vehicle at all, i should return the car to the dealer to have them run test. They had it for a month and said it was caused by my driving habits and they could not do anything about it. Sonow my fiat decides to shut off while driving 70mph 49000 miles on the interstate, thankfully i was in the slow lane and was able to coast to a safe position to put my car in park and restart.this has been happening since the 3rd month of ownership june 2017.

Has happened multiple times where the push button ignition does not start the vehicle- instead the message drive mode unavailable pops up. This message has also appeared even when the car has started. Also, lost all connection on dashboard- no functionality whatsoever- took it to the dealership and was advised no code was thrown- but if electrical a code would not be thrown. Was advised to wait until it happens again and then call to bring in. This happened when i had drove the car for about 8 miles turned off and came back after going shopping for about an hour. No indication of an issue before or after. I previously had an issue with my entire radio/center console electrical system which required a replacement as this dealership stated no updates available.

Vehicle has difficulty shifting in lower gears. When the vehicle shifts, the car jerks you forward. This has happened increasingly over the last several months, but has been present since i bought the vehicle in feb '19. Vehicle also tends to shake when in idle at red lights, shaking stops after putting the vehicle in neutral.
I was driving on the highway and my car shut off without warning. The steering wheel locked up, the shifter locked, the brake locked. There was no safe way to bring the vehicle off the highway. I coasted off the highway into the grass. There was a sierra 1500 that was behind me that was fortunate enough to avoid hitting me. The fiat dashboard had no warning lights on, such as check engine, oil low, or any other indication that something was wrong. The dealership's response was it needed an oil change. There was no addressing the fact that my car was burning through oil at an accelerated rate and that the car itself turning off and locking up while in operation is "not a defect" or "a safety hazard". I spoke with the fiat dealership that i purchased the vehicle from and they informed me that there is nothing they can do as the factory warranty has expired. The factory warranty expired 1/1/2020. 127 days later, my car has this incredibly dangerous defect. Fca claims that no buy back option available due to the warranty expiration. They offer to have service attempt to fix the car but the issue is with the engine, not just changing the oil. There is no other engine that can be placed in this car to completely fix my vehicle. If another tigershark engine is placed in my car, there is no way to determine if it is defective until the car shuts off again unexpectedly while driving which can result in a fatal accident or injury. Fca's resolution is to continuously bandaid the situation. They are not offering to buy back the vehicle due to the manufacturer defect. I also have an efg warranty though the dealership i purchased the car from that is useless in remedying this situation also. The dealership points the finger at fca to fix this while fca points the finger at the dealership to remedy this situation. My car with the tiger shark engine is not safe to drive.
My car was stationary. Sitting in my driveway and i was cleaning the interior out. Listening to my radio. Then all the sudden a bunch of warning lights start going off. Pretty much all of them. The contact stated that she attempted to notify the manufacturer but was informed that they were unable to assist. Vehicle shifts roughly when in motion, when starting out and also while driving. Sometimes it does it when i start to slow down and then speed back up. I have notified the service department and they say they can't find a problem.

I bought this car second hand. 33200 miles still on the warranty. After few months, 650 miles of usage, a warning light for for the engine and "driving mode unavailable" started popping up, so this a plate light warning pop up as well. Brought to fiat, they said it was the thermostat which it was then changed and supposedly would fix the issue. Got the car back. After few days and 125 miles more again the "drive mode unavailable" warning pop up... Then the four wheal drive unavailable pop up..there was also a wheal warning popping up. Then out of a sudden, on a traffic light the car didn't want to start. I had to turn off the engine and turn back on. Once i turned the engine back, all kinds of warning signs came up. I was able to drive home. Then the engine light warning kept on. So did the "drive mode unavailable". Brought the car back to fiat right away. They said the battery was not tied correctly. Which i don't understand how it did happen and why they did not see that the first time they look at the car. Going to pick up the car tomorrow and hope will not going to have to report further issues.

I popped the hood when i got home and didn't smell anything obvious.don't know if this is related, but just had it in for oil change a week ago - they never reset the oil change light (which wasn't coming on before oil change - though low oil pressure light was coming on -- now low oil pressure light is off, but oil change light is on!).again, don't know if it is related but want to give all pieces of the puzzle.also my engine shuts off for no apparent reason while driving occasionally. Very scary! took it in to fiat and they gave me a lame excuse -- it just needed some updates! to me that is just unacceptable -- what if i had been going 70mph on the interstate and this happened!? i asked them that exact question at fiat and they just shrugged their shoulders. This is a serious safety issue and it is shocking to me that fiat is not taking it more seriously! after the "update" that they performed about 8 months ago -- all seemed fine until about a month ago. Car stalled as i was driving -- seemed to happen only when i was going over a speed bump or a rough road. That was not the case the first time -- first time i was on a smooth, flat road.i really feel like a safety recall should be done on these cars because after reading about so many other people having these exact same problems -- this is clearly an issue!
During a normal driving conditions a couple weeks ago, my fiat 500x's engine turned off / stalled while i was driving. I was in the city and getting ready to turn, so i was at a slow speed - around 8 mph. I had to turn the car off and on again and it seemed to be fine after that. But this was very alarming and if i had been going a higher speed, it could have been very dangerous.
I was driving down the highway in a middle lane going about 50mph when i noticed the car was no longer responsive to gas or steering. Brakes were harder to press than usual & i realized the car had turned itself off. The only way i could get it started again was to come to a complete stop & put it in park, re-start, disengage the auto-emergency brake, then put it in drive. All while cars were flying around the bend of the highway almost hitting me and almost hitting each other trying to avoid hitting me.
This vehicle has 3 recalls and i didn't see them all listed on your website. The new recall i will enclose in a document. The first recall was an issue with shifting into all wheel drive and connected to the electrical system. The cooling agent fan is malfunctioning which can overheat and cause risk of injury and possible fire in engine. I started noticing my check engine light would go on after start up even though i wasn't due for one. I checked oil and it was fine. My car started jolting forward and backwards when started .it would jolt backwards while in reverse.it's lost power after starting while reversing in my garge. At times i was afraid it would stall while driving on back roads and while slowing down for turns.on highway and main roads i started smelling heat from fromengine and could feel the engine struggling to function.it's at dealership now for recall. Car will randomly turn itself off while driving. This has happened 3 times (i currently have just over 70k miles on the car). There are also electrical issues (seizure warning should come with this car- the touch screen radio will turn itself off and on continuously while driving). As with most other complaints, my drivers side door handle came off as well.
While sitting in a drive thru the cooling fan went out and was replaced at a cost of over $400.just a few months later, it happened again.
Vehicle consumes excessive oil in between regular oil service windows. Vehicle also shuts off randomly while in motion with no warning at all. This shutdown issue has occurred about 6 times in one month. Obviously a big safety issue because i need to bring the car to a complete stop in traffic to shift it back into park to turn the car on again.
The transmission seems to jerk or shake when it shifts sometimes, like the car is going to stall or lurch forward. I have taken it in to the dealership, but have gotten no where with them. Aside from the numerous problems this car has has (which it has had many) the most recent issue was that the 'service engine' and the 'drive mode unavailable' lights came on. I'm told it could be a thermostat issue. This alert happened when i started my car and had continued since driving it to the dealership. I have googled the issue and it seems many others have had similar issues. The car seems too new and current to be having these kinds of issues, such as possibly the thermostat. I wanted to report this to you due to finding numerous people having this issue. Also i have also had this car stop accelerating and i had to pull to the side of the road in a neutral setting. This scared me to death as if i were to be on the freeway, the consequences of this could have been dire. They reset the computer for that issue, it has not recurred but you can understand my fear when the service engine light comes on, i'm worried something similar could happen. I honestly wish this car was in warranty so i could lemon law it, because it's a total lemon otherwise.
My car didn't start and then finally did. While driving it stalled,all of a sudden i got control enough to park at work . Over the past two years i've had to take my vehicle in to the dealership numerous times. The car will accelerate on its ownwithout touching the gas pedal,switch gears on its own, accelerate while making a stop, uncontrollably jerk well moving at a slow speed's and display messages such as drive mode unavailable at random times while driving. My fiat keeps giving transmission errors. I took the car to concord, ca fiat for diagnostics 10/2019 and they were unable to report an issue. They 'reset the computer' and sent us off. Now in 02/2020 i'm still getting error messages and the car locked up in the middle of the road refusing to turn off, shift gears, or move at all. For 15 minutes.

Received (2) recall notices so far on my 2016 500x easy awd, 1) for powertrain - car shifts to neutral unexpectedly (which mine was doing at the time) and 2nd for engine cooling fan module (v54 - service engine light appears and drive mode unavailable) this i was not having an issue with at that time.both times, the dealer said my car was not part of recall.1st resolved due to high oil consumption, so have to add a qrt of oil every 2 wks.updated recall was sent out on oct 2019 for engine cooling fan, which my make and model is now included.i never recvd this notice because dealer removed me from the dealerconnect claim global recall systems (grs) and vehicle information system (vip) when i called 1st time as not applicable.my cars service engine light came on aug 10, 2020 and drive mode unavailable alert, throwing code p0481, intense heat was coming from engine though temp gauge at normal levels.i just happened to find the recall online while trying to find what code meant.called the fiat chrysler automobile (fca) recall assistance center this time instead of dealer and they looked up my vin and found it is one that is affected and scheduled the appt for me with my local dealership. My concern is that the dealer instruction on the recall specifically shows which fan modules have been affected (bu /fb modules only)& what to look for yet the dealer never bothered the first time, just denied me over the phone. Who knows what kind of damage it's caused after all this time and all they had to do was pop the hood and check if fan module has a plastic heat shield or a metal heat shield with metal top hat in center of motor instead of a plastic circle in center of motor.this would have prevented where i am now, unable to work (i am a rideshare driver), losing money after an already costly pandemic. Nhtsa site doesn't show this recall yet with vin in system?
My 2016 fiat 500x started overheating with approximately 32,900 miles on it.i had the fan assembly and 50 amp fuse replaced.it is starting to make the same noise i had noticed weeks before it overheated again.
On 3/30/2019, after a short drive (approx. 0.5 miles), the following message appeared on the dashboard: 'drive mode unavailable' and 'service engine'. This was also accompanied by what seemed to be much more noticeable vibration from the working engine and a subtle smell of something burning. Total mileage driven at the time of incident is 17,284.
My fiat 500x is brand new barely 350 miles...it has been towed twice so far and is presently being worked on now. I am afraid to drive it since it stalls out while driving and eventually will not restart. I have been researching online and have found similar issues. I feel unsafe driving this vehicle and could end up being in or causing an accident since i was almost hit both times my car stalled out...once on the highway and the other time most recently in high city traffic. I just want a replacement of equal value.
Transmission kicks from first to second at take off after stops. Usually traffic lights.i have taken the car in for service twice, the kick doesn't happen all the time anymore, but it still happens.it's a concern since i've almost been rear ended twice.

I am being notified by chrysler fiat of a problem with oil consumption on my fiat 500x. Since all the fiat dealerships near me have closed, chrysler is requiring me to: 1. Travel 1.5 hours to dealership. 2. Have an oil change performed at my expense. 3. Travel 1.5 hours home from dealership 4. Drive 1500 miles. 4. Travel 1.5 hours return to the dealership to verify oil consumption. If excessive consumption, engine will be replaced. (?) as stated by customer service. 5. Travel 1.5 hours home from dealership.they will not:a. Reimburse my time (8 hours total) approximately 6 hours drive time and 2 hours wait time. B. Pay for the oil change.within the last month i have had an oil change. C. Pay for fuel for these trips, approximately 51 miles each way. Total of 200 miles.this is a manufacturing issue.all incurred expenses should be paid by chrysler.

I own a 2016 fiat 500x, unsure of the model because i was told i was purchasing a trekking but paperwork states lounge 2. The vin number has brought up the different two models depending on what vin search you use. One issue with the vehicle, are the exterior lights. At the current time, it has a blinker, rear taillight and a brake light out. And when one light goes out, usually 2-3 other lights follow. This will be the 3rd time it's going in for repairs for that electrical issue. It is also consuming too much oil. Yesterday after i finally got it started, several lights appeared on the dashboard, park brake failure light, transmission malfunction indicator light and the esc light. When i put it in drive mode, a light warning me the drive mode was unavailable. The vehicle idles rough. Once i stopped at a stop sign and the vehicle jumped into neutral. The backup camera has stayed on before while driving down the road. Also 2 door handles have had to be replaced and the drivers side knob that has already been replaced once, seems to be sticking like the one before it that completely broke off.

Vehicle fog lights have an issue where one lightgets too much voltage, causing it to burn out the bulb and the holding unit. Sometimes the bulbs will randomly switch (for example one day the driver's side will be out, then the next day the passenger side). I have taken it to get repaired: the mechanic replaced the bulb and the holding unit and issue happened again a few months later. I then took it back, the mechanic checked my alternator which was fine and putting out correct ac and dc voltage. He told me he called fiat and they were aware of this being an issue but don't know why. The car was being driven on back roads (so going under and up to 45mph) the very first time the light went out. After the first time, i would turn the car on and it would be out, other days it would be on and wouldn't go out at all, or it would go out later when i was driving. There was really no consistency to the issue.

Like everyone else on here my car has multiple issues. Car shifts hard from first to second gear. Fuel car propulsion seems off, drivers side door handle broke, day time running lights don't work, touch screen on display quit working,car doesn't alert me of low oil level, it has shut off but i'm pretty sure it's a safety feature when your oil is to low so you dont blow your car up, car uses waaayyy to much oil,gas mileage isn't that great, brakes were replaced ever since a lot of times my car will screech when i go to apply the brakes, oh and battery is bad literally just replaced it had corrosion and acid leaking out. I really wanted to love this car but it's been kind of a disappointment. I am the second owner, i bought it in 2018 with about 45k miles and it just hit 100k a car four years old should not have this many problems it's really unacceptable. Its just my every day driver i maintenance it regularly and the miles are mostly highway miles. All of this just within 2 years and 50k miles pretty unbelievable. I am taking it to a fiat dealership this week to see if they can fix some of these issues

I bought this car second hand. 33200 miles still on the warranty. After few months, 650 miles of usage, a warning light for for the engine and "driving mode unavailable" started popping up, so this a plate light warning pop up as well. Brought to fiat, they said it was the thermostat which it was then changed and supposedly would fix the issue. Got the car back. After few days and 125 miles more again the "drive mode unavailable" warning pop up... Then the four wheal drive unavailable pop up..there was also a wheal warning popping up. Then out of a sudden, on a traffic light the car didn't want to start. I had to turn off the engine and turn back on. Once i turned the engine back, all kinds of warning signs came up. I was able to drive home. Then the engine light warning kept on. So did the "drive mode unavailable". Brought the car back to fiat right away. They said the battery was not tied correctly. Which i don't understand how it did happen and why they did not see that the first time they look at the car. Going to pick up the car tomorrow and hope will not going to have to report further issues.
When driving the car its seems as if its not changing gears pushing the gas to accelerate its will let off a rushing sound with no movements then it will jerk and accelerate faster it mainly does this when taking off and turning onto another road where their is busy traffic that will eventually cause a accident with oncoming vehicles if the acceleration isn't at its speed.
My car has gone to the dealer repeatedly for the following issues: bad struts, loose engine mounts, overheating (broken fan), "drive mode not available", radio not working, and now messages saying lights are out when they are not (code says "pending code")this car drives terrible and is unsafe and unreliable- it spends more time at the dealer than in my driveway - it has 40k miles and is still under warranty
The contact owns a 2016 fiat 500x. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the passenger's side turn signal intermittently failed to operate as designed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer heritage fiat located at 11212 reisterstown rd, suite b, owings mills, md 21117 who diagnosed that the internal switch was faulty and needed to be replaced. The switch was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 31,000.
Hazardous delay in downshifts when an extra burst of speed is needed. This happen often. Dangerous when trying to merge.
I was driving down the highway in a middle lane going about 50mph when i noticed the car was no longer responsive to gas or steering. Brakes were harder to press than usual & i realized the car had turned itself off. The only way i could get it started again was to come to a complete stop & put it in park, re-start, disengage the auto-emergency brake, then put it in drive. All while cars were flying around the bend of the highway almost hitting me and almost hitting each other trying to avoid hitting me.
1 year after purchase the car started having electrical issues, hard gear shifting, turns off or fails to start on first try, car has been serviced at south miami fiat since the issues started.the dealer could not identify the issues and told me that they would leave a warranty order open in the event that the warranty expired and the issue was not addressed.the dealer is basically not assisting.i have recently taken my car in for the oil consumption test; at first it failed to later be told that it's working just fine.problems do no fix themselves and i feel that the dealer is not being totally honest with the situation.i am aware that the consumer is on the losing end of this story, but i will say that i along with many others have had a less than desirable experience with fiat vehicles.can someone please respond regarding these issues.i know that the past 2 years have been strenuous on all, but this is my last effort to find a solution to this matter.i have reviewed many other owners with almost identical issues with their cars.thank you for your attention
My wife told me of this happening to her and i didn't believe her until it happened to me.so, i'm driving down neighborhood streets at about 45 mph, the posted speed limit, and i go to cross an intersection and the car loses all power with traffic headed towards me.luckily, it regained power a few seconds later, but i feel we've just been lucky so far.my wife has experienced this several times, on highways, neighborhood roads, etc. And i have experienced it twice now.the next day, the drive mode unavailable message came on when i started the vehicle and would not go.took it to the dealership the first time i experienced it and was told the old update story.took it in again and they kept it a whole week the next time and couldn't find anything wrong they said.it keeps happening, the computer keeps turning off our display, and i believe the engine fan may be going out now.not a good/quality vehicle at all and i feel like fiat doesn't have any answers for the problems as we keep being told "updates," yet it continues happening.
In december 2018, the vehicle's check engine light came on and a "drive mode unavailable" message was displayed on the screen.the local fiat dealership diagnosed that the cooling fan needed replacing because it had blown a fuse.in january 2018, while the vehicle was in motion with our child in the back seat, the vehicle stalled and suddenly turned off.we tried turning the vehicle on several times but it would not come on.after a few minutes, the vehicle finally turned on but no warning messages were displayed on the screen and the check engine light never came on.this vehicle is driven on the highway just about every day and many times with our children and we were very fortunate that the car stalled on a residential street and not while on the highway.we immediately reported this incident to fiat (case # 57913062) and had the vehicle towed to a fiat dealership.the dealer diagnosed the problem as having a low level of engine oil even though it had been there a few weeks before and went through their "multi-point" inspection.they recommended an oil change with an additive and a fuel injection cleaning which cost us $600. Two weeks later, while the car was in motion on the highway, the car started to shake as if it was about to stall, would not speed past 60mph, and smoke was coming out of the hood.the service engine light came on and a "drive mode unavailable" message was displayed on the screen.we took the first highway exit available and pulled the vehicle over as soon as possible and called for towing.we reported this incident to fiat once again (case # 58008152) and requested for it to be escalated due the frequent incidents and our concern for safety.the vehicle was towed to same fiat dealership as before where they diagnosed the issue as being a bad ignition coil that caused a misfire.we have not received any response from fiat.
While driving my fiat 500x, it jerks when it's shifting gears or accelerating. I took it into the dealership and there was a bulletin concerning the transmission i believe. But whatever update was done, it did not take care of the problem. I've looked for info regarding this issue and have found there are several other people having the same problem.
Vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, could happen while in motion (no turns) and also while turning, usually on a city street. It could happen once a month, or once every couple of months. Have taken it to dealership twice. And pcm/tcm shift was reprogrammed (but it did not fix the issue). I took it again and they insist nothing can be done because they cannot replicate the problem. I tried explaining it happens sporadically but i fear for my life because it has done it while turning and having traffic against me. Still nothing was done.it started shortly after i bought it and at the moment i thought i released the pedal by mistake but it kept happening i realized i had no way of causing the failure. It has happened several times throughout the (almost) 3 years i had the vehicle so i don't remember a specific date. Last time it happen was last week (05/20/2019-05/24/2019) but i don't remember which day.
Engine is very shaky when stalled at stop lights, etc. Service light recently came on and car was taken to the dealership for evaluation as it is still under warranty. The cooling fan needs to be replaced but is on a national backorder with no eta. Car can no longer be driven in traffic as it quickly overheats.
My fiat 500x shifted itself to neutral from drive while i was driving. Gear noizes heard from engine for three months. It also stopped in the middle of driving by itself while my son was in car with me. Very scary.i called chrysler/fiat, customer service said "norecall" of my car, it's been taken care of.i googled and found out recall started aug. 29, 2016 and i bought the car in july, 2016. So who took care of the recall if there was one???!!! no recall for this kinda of problem is unbelievable!! putting our lives in extreme danger. Please investigate before any life loss!! this is a very dishonet action of fiat and the person who sold this car to me, knowing this problem could put my family's lives in crash. Ridiculous really.
I received the error message "drive mode unavailable"with a service engine message after my last regular service appointment and oil change. My car is at 27,400 miles and after throwing that code barely could make it up aresidential hill. After the local service department claimed to have fixed it, 3 miles down the road the message popped up again and driving was difficult. My local dealership has had my fiat 500x now the second time since december 1st with no updates for me.
I slightly overshot a stop sign at the bottom of a steep hill. I saw that a car with the right of way was rapidly approach the intersection so i put the car in reverse with the intent to back up the car a couple of feet. I put the car in reverse and took my foot off the brake and instead of engaging the gear in reverse, the car rolled forward in neutral farther into the intersection before the gear was engaged by the computer. Luckily, the car jerked backward in time when the computer finally engaged the gear.the delay in the computer recognizing the gear is common. Even though i have all software updates for the transmission, the computer frequently lags in shifting to the appropriate gear. When it does shift, there is noticeable jerk.
This car is a lemon and the dealership is fully aware. Since the beginning, the car will randomly say drive mode unavailable, even while in operation. It goes into neutral without shifting and always has. The transmission messes up if i switch into sport from auto on the highway and it always has. The steering wheel fell apart on my way home from work and i had to call the dealership, it has started falling apart again. The dashboard started coming apart and that had to be repaired. The trunk locks when it feels like it, and always has. I will close it and it will immediately unlock. This prevents me from locking the car and i don't know if it'll fly open if i try to drive it. I have to wait for it to lock. This can literally take hours!2 weeks ago, my car actually started by itself at 10:30 pm. I heard a car alarm and assumed it was a neighbor's car. It was mine. My keys were downstairs in my purse. I was upstairs binging law and order svu. I couldn't get the car to shut off. It was raining and dark and i live alone and i don't know my neighbors. Luckily someone came to help me anyway. The alarm and radio we're both blaring nonstop. The fuse for the fuel had to be pulled, to shut it off. This happened for two days in a row. Now it won't start. The battery is fine, the radio and lights and dash lights come on. Every possible mechanical failure code is showing up, abs system, keyless entry, power steering, remote start, airbags, check engine etc are all showing as defective. This car is a lemon. Pomoco jeep chrysler in nn, va, knows it's a piece of crap. Instead of labeling at what it is, they expect me to bring it in constantly and constantly be without transportation. If i didn't need a car, i would not have purchased one. I would like a certified mechanic, independent of chrysler and it's dealerships, to fully examine and diagnose the issues with my car.
The transmission is having constant issues and this has been known with fiat cars.
My car didn't start and then finally did. While driving it stalled,all of a sudden i got control enough to park at work . With no warning signs i proceededto changebattery after work and it still wouldn't start then after attempting to start with new battery the car with lock symbol came out. Still at this point no warning was giving as i was driving this car perfectly fine until this. All this was on main streets.i have small kids andthis is not an accident that i would ever want with or without them because of a technical issue of a car.
While driving and slowing to a stop the transmission will shift into 1st early creating a jump or surge while slowing.the only way to stop this from occurring is to switch to manual shifting and down shift manually when almost to a complete stop.

Car was getting oil change at another facility.the workers noticed the undercarriage of the car was melted and deformed.there was major oil or other fluids leaking.car was brought in and fixed several times before the transmission was replaced.it was fixed incorrectly and had to be towed in after being fixed.the car stopped driving.no one was able to tell me why the car was like that and why it was fixed incorrectly and unsafe to drive.then several weeks later, the car had another incident and had to be towed in.the driveshaft was broken and replaced.these two major components should not have to be replaced in a car less than 2 years or 20,000 miles.the dealership has not offered any concession or explanation.the manager eventually told me the car was "deformed".i don't feel safe in the car.the car was not showing symptoms with the first incident only leaked fluid.the second time with the drive shaft it was in motion.
When driving on any kind of train, straight ground or hills, especially when accelerating, the engine or transmission slips into neutral mode and suddenly kicks back into drive mode. The car lunges forward and it feels like the transmission is slipping. This started about two to three months ago (november 2018) but has become significantly worse over the past couple of weeks. The car has 35k miles, automatic 9 speed transmission. I bought it new in june of 2015. I noticed that the is a recall for similar problems on similar fiats since november of 2016, but i never received any kind of notice from fca about this.
2016 fiat 500x easy sport awd.i took my car in last year due to a code it was threw relating to engine cooling fan & found it was on an updated recall; car was stalling both while driving & while at a complete stop, had excessive oil consumption (1 qrt needed every 2 wks), shifted hard from 1st to 2nd and also had odd idling sound at speeds btwn 15-25mph with sudden 'power burst' and last, excessive heat from engine right before it threw the code. Fiat recall assistance very helpful and got me the replacement part and serviced at local dealership. Recall never showed up under nhtsa even to this day.the replacement part seemed to cure all except for the odd idling sound. It's as though car is going to stall any second, almost a 'knocking' in engine and slight shaking can be felt.recvd notice today from same dealership that took care of last recall on my car.apparently it has been added to the powertrain recall 16v529000, so i will be scheduling an appt tomorrow.when i tried to find the recall, my vin search came back with 'you have 0 unrepaired recalls'??? i had to complete a search without the vin to find out what campaign it was under. If dealer is sending me alerts, certainly nhtsa should have my car listed for the same recall as they do...you guys do all go off the same recall database as mfg do, don't you?
On july 20, 2019, my 2016 fiat 500x parked in driveway. Pressed the ignition button to start and no startinstead all the warning lights started flashing in sequence. Coolant tempt too high! service transmission!service airbags! service power steering! service electronic park brake! every amber and red warning just continually repeats the flashing sequence. Of course, car does not respond to starting and no power buttons respond. No electronic brakethe battery is good. Coolant is not too hot because carhas not been started/driven for 5 days, since july 15, 2019. Total mileageis 10,005 milesto date! will have to tow to fiat. And be at their mercy.this car is like new. Not even driven every. Day.## vin passed ####

In addition, while driving in reverse, the brakes malfunctioned, locked up, and the vehicle would not move. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pads were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train), although the failures were identical. The failure mileage was 700.

500x trekking is having issues shifting randomly.coming to stop it feels like i am getting rear ended when it shifts down.pushing the gas hesitates and i feel like i am getting whiplash from the shift.

The contact disagreed with the assessment. The technician stated that an unknown part needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the carman chrysler-jeep-dodge dealer, located at 196 s dupont hwy, new castle, de 19720, and it was stated that something sticky might have spilled and entered the drive mode. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The car randomly jumps into neutral while driving down the road. I must try to coast to the shoulder, as the dash is telling me to press the brake pedal to put the car in gear. Once i've stopped i have to move the gear shift to park, shut the car off and restart it.
Vehicle goes into "limp mode" anytime wheels slip, untill computer clears no throttle or motion, vehicle is inoperable for over 5+ seconds and then accelerated at whatever position throttle is at. Dealer and mechanics say all new fiats 2 and 4wheel drive all have this issue and they cannot fix. I pulled out into traffic, wheel slipped and went into limp in middle of lanes untill it cleared and took off at half throttle and almost got smeared by traffic. Dealer says all fiats have same problem and only solution is to give a lot of lead time before entering traffic and try not to accelerate as to make wheels slip when road conditions may cause slipping. This has happend pulling out into traffic and while on ramps, hills. If on curve or hill vehicle will go int "limp mode" and will just slide down hills and through curves!!!
Received (2) recall notices so far on my 2016 500x easy awd, 1) for powertrain - car shifts to neutral unexpectedly (which mine was doing at the time) and 2nd for engine cooling fan module (v54 - service engine light appears and drive mode unavailable) this i was not having an issue with at that time.both times, the dealer said my car was not part of recall.1st resolved due to high oil consumption, so have to add a qrt of oil every 2 wks.updated recall was sent out on oct 2019 for engine cooling fan, which my make and model is now included.i never recvd this notice because dealer removed me from the dealerconnect claim global recall systems (grs) and vehicle information system (vip) when i called 1st time as not applicable.my cars service engine light came on aug 10, 2020 and drive mode unavailable alert, throwing code p0481, intense heat was coming from engine though temp gauge at normal levels.i just happened to find the recall online while trying to find what code meant.called the fiat chrysler automobile (fca) recall assistance center this time instead of dealer and they looked up my vin and found it is one that is affected and scheduled the appt for me with my local dealership. My concern is that the dealer instruction on the recall specifically shows which fan modules have been affected (bu /fb modules only)& what to look for yet the dealer never bothered the first time, just denied me over the phone. Who knows what kind of damage it's caused after all this time and all they had to do was pop the hood and check if fan module has a plastic heat shield or a metal heat shield with metal top hat in center of motor instead of a plastic circle in center of motor.this would have prevented where i am now, unable to work (i am a rideshare driver), losing money after an already costly pandemic. Nhtsa site doesn't show this recall yet with vin in system?
My automatic transmission does not shift properly.there are constant delays in shifting. Upon any acceleration, my vehicle will fail to shift for up to several minutes. During that time the engine will rev up to 600 rpms before finally shifting. This happens every time i accelerate quickly with every gear. Absolutely impossible to pass other cars or speed up quickly.all shifting is clunky and vehicle often suddenly downshifts while driving on an open highway and maintaining a speed of 55mph to 60mph. Also downshifts suddenly during normal stree driving. Vehicle will not go any faster than 75mph-even on a steep downslope. I can floor the gas pedal and car simply will not go faster than 75mph. I must switch to sport mode to go any faster, but then average rpms are 300-350 and vehicle uses too much gas.i have owned it only 30 days. Purchased from a dealer. One previous owner. Only 28000 miles odo. Idles somewhat rough and slight knocking heard from engine while outside of vehicle. Have had it back to dealer who denied any problem, but gave me no paperwork to tell me what was checked. Taking it back tomorrow. Problems are a serious danger while driving.

Transmission hesitates to engage after pressing accelerator and also shifts roughly when it does change gears. All available software patches have been applied by dealer, however the problem persists. This is a safety issue, especially when merging or turning into traffic, since acceleration can lag randomly when it is needed the most. Because of the acceleration bursts and lags when shifting, the car is difficult to control and provides a herky-jerky driving experience.
My 500x that i purchased in july of 2016 has shifted gears to the + symbol 4 different times while im driving. It started in sept but i thought i had it a bump or something. It happened again 3 times i did go back to the bettenhauser dealer for service 3 times and they said i had to not turn the car off and get to them before they closed because they could not see codes to the problem .at this pointin time they gave me a loaner to drive for about a week while they drove the car. They said they found nothing. I took my car back 2 weeks ago and i drive with a prayer that it doesn,t happen again while im in traffic as it did before scaring me to death. Do you have any suggestions. I see no recalls on this problem so far but something is wrong with my car. Thank you. All this happened when i was in traffic on the city streets of chicago. I did come very close to having a terrible accident three times.the service dept has incorrect mileageon dates i was in for this problem. Correct date for 10/18/16 mileage 2,378 for 10/26/16 incorrect mileage 7,531 correct mileage for 1115/16 2,728 .
The transmission seems to jerk or shake when it shifts sometimes, like the car is going to stall or lurch forward.i've had transmission issues with other cars that i own and it feels like that is going on with my car.i have an extended warranty and have taken it in to the dealership, but have gotten no where with them.they fail to see a problem and say there's nothing they can do. I have 110,000 miles on the vehicle and my powertrain warranty is set to expire in 10,000 miles.i see that there was a recall on this vehicle but apparently my specific vehicle wasn't included in the recall.based on the problems that i'm having, i feel the problems i'm experiencing could be related to the recall.i rely on my car for work but am increasingly nervous about continuing to drive it.

My car was stationary. Sitting in my driveway and i was cleaning the interior out. Listening to my radio. Then all the sudden a bunch of warning lights start going off. Pretty much all of them. I thought it was just dying so i tried to start it. The alarm starts blaring. Eventually the car shut it self off. And now it will not turn back on. It's just extremely scary thinking i could of been driving when this happened. The transmission shifts hard between one and two. And occasionally the radio turns it's self on and off. I just bought this car used with 43,000 miles. It's insane and incredibly unsafe with these issues. And now it's dead in my driveway. I get parking lights out and daytime driving light out indicator. Rough idle on cold starts sometimes.
Vehicle has difficulty shifting in lower gears. When the vehicle shifts, the car jerks you forward. This has happened increasingly over the last several months, but has been present since i bought the vehicle in feb '19. Vehicle also tends to shake when in idle at red lights, shaking stops after putting the vehicle in neutral.
Around october 9, i tried to turn on the ignition as usual with the key fob. The engine would't turn, so i recharged the battery. After 10 minutes, it finally cranked. The battery is good, however, so i replaced the battery in the fob. On october 19, i used the key fob and all kinds of indicator lights came on. When i placed the car in reverse, several light indicators (service engine, check transmission, etc.) and it was like something inside the engine dropped as if the car shifted into another gear. The 'r' and the 'd' blinked steadily. I called and alerted the service department at brewbaker dealership, but the only availability was the following monday. By fate, the car began to operate better. For nearly a week, the ignition started to improve although it would take two tries. On the morning of october 29, the same problems reoccured from october 19. Instead of going to work, i drove the car straight to the dealership. They kept it overnight for service personnel to analyze the problem. The seat belt are not festering got in my car to get ready to leave and the seat belt would not festering i keep trying to festering and finally did then i left and while i was driving it popped a loose...so i had to pull over and tried to festering it a again it took about 10 minutes before it latch again i had to keep repeating the same thing over and over

The contact owns a 2016 fiat 500x. While driving various speeds, the gear selector erroneously switched from drive into neutral, which caused the vehicle to lose power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (rick case fiat/chrysler of davies, florida), but the cause of the failure was unable to be diagnosed. In addition, while driving in reverse, the brakes malfunctioned, locked up, and the vehicle would not move. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pads were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train), although the failures were identical. The failure mileage was 700.

My fiat keeps giving transmission errors. I took the car to concord, ca fiat for diagnostics 10/2019 and they were unable to report an issue. They 'reset the computer' and sent us off. Now in 02/2020 i'm still getting error messages and the car locked up in the middle of the road refusing to turn off, shift gears, or move at all. For 15 minutes.
I am having issues again with my fiat stalling on me while driving down the road. This has been happening for a year 1/2 now and no solution via the dealership service department. I was almost rear ended on the interstate due to my car shutting off.this is time i was on the interstate going 70mph. I have had my car towed to the service dealership in the past for this same issue. They had it for a month and same thing keeps happening. This is unsafe and terrifying for me to drive with my two kids in the back.
The pieces near the back of the steering wheel keep falling off.i have had them replaced once and now they are loose again.
I was making a slow turn in a parking lot and the car turned itself off while driving. The radio remained on and dash lights/gear lights were illuminated but the car was completely unresponsive otherwise. I realized it had turned off so i restarted it & it continued to drive normally. About 50 miles later i was driving 35mph and a warning light came on stating "drive mode unavailable" then another saying "service engine". I took it to the dealership where they said it just needed some updates, gave it the updates, and sent me home. About 50 miles later the drive mode and service engine lights came on again. About 50 miles later they turned off on their own, and another 20 miles later they came back on again. The car seems to drive normally but the different drive modes such as "traction +" aren't accessible. It's been between 60-80 degrees outside & clear on each occasion. It hasn't turned itself off again since the first time.
I purchased a 2016 fiat 500x in december 2016.i am a home care nurse so i drive a lot.i have had this same issue since buying this car and it's been in and out of the shop.it is now out of warranty and i am having to pay out of pocket.here is the story:when it rains heavily, in arizona, my electronics in my car go haywire.according to autonation, i have had the car in approximately 9 times.my power steering becomes disabled and my airbags become disabled.this time, i was driving down 7th street at 7:30am and this happened.i was luckily able to get the car to stop.no one seems to care what is eventually going to happen to me, is that i get killed.this car is a lemon. This car is a lemon and the dealership is fully aware. Since the beginning, the car will randomly say drive mode unavailable, even while in operation. It goes into neutral without shifting and always has. The transmission messes up if i switch into sport from auto on the highway and it always has. The steering wheel fell apart on my way home from work and i had to call the dealership, it has started falling apart again. The dashboard started coming apart and that had to be repaired. The trunk locks when it feels like it, and always has. I will close it and it will immediately unlock. This prevents me from locking the car and i don't know if it'll fly open if i try to drive it. I have to wait for it to lock. This can literally take hours!2 weeks ago, my car actually started by itself at 10:30 pm. I heard a car alarm and assumed it was a neighbor's car. It was mine. My keys were downstairs in my purse. I was upstairs binging law and order svu. I couldn't get the car to shut off. It was raining and dark and i live alone and i don't know my neighbors. Luckily someone came to help me anyway. The alarm and radio we're both blaring nonstop. The fuse for the fuel had to be pulled, to shut it off. This happened for two days in a row. Now it won't start. The battery is fine, the radio and lights and dash lights come on. Every possible mechanical failure code is showing up, abs system, keyless entry, power steering, remote start, airbags, check engine etc are all showing as defective. This car is a lemon. Pomoco jeep chrysler in nn, va, knows it's a piece of crap. Instead of labeling at what it is, they expect me to bring it in constantly and constantly be without transportation. If i didn't need a car, i would not have purchased one. I would like a certified mechanic, independent of chrysler and it's dealerships, to fully examine and diagnose the issues with my car.
I was driving on the highway and my car shut off without warning. The steering wheel locked up, the shifter locked, the brake locked. There was no safe way to bring the vehicle off the highway. I coasted off the highway into the grass. There was a sierra 1500 that was behind me that was fortunate enough to avoid hitting me. The fiat dashboard had no warning lights on, such as check engine, oil low, or any other indication that something was wrong. The dealership's response was it needed an oil change. There was no addressing the fact that my car was burning through oil at an accelerated rate and that the car itself turning off and locking up while in operation is "not a defect" or "a safety hazard". I spoke with the fiat dealership that i purchased the vehicle from and they informed me that there is nothing they can do as the factory warranty has expired. The factory warranty expired 1/1/2020. 127 days later, my car has this incredibly dangerous defect. Fca claims that no buy back option available due to the warranty expiration. They offer to have service attempt to fix the car but the issue is with the engine, not just changing the oil. There is no other engine that can be placed in this car to completely fix my vehicle. If another tigershark engine is placed in my car, there is no way to determine if it is defective until the car shuts off again unexpectedly while driving which can result in a fatal accident or injury. Fca's resolution is to continuously bandaid the situation. They are not offering to buy back the vehicle due to the manufacturer defect. I also have an efg warranty though the dealership i purchased the car from that is useless in remedying this situation also. The dealership points the finger at fca to fix this while fca points the finger at the dealership to remedy this situation. My car with the tiger shark engine is not safe to drive.

I own a 2016 fiat 500x, unsure of the model because i was told i was purchasing a trekking but paperwork states lounge 2. The vin number has brought up the different two models depending on what vin search you use. One issue with the vehicle, are the exterior lights. At the current time, it has a blinker, rear taillight and a brake light out. And when one light goes out, usually 2-3 other lights follow. This will be the 3rd time it's going in for repairs for that electrical issue. It is also consuming too much oil. Yesterday after i finally got it started, several lights appeared on the dashboard, park brake failure light, transmission malfunction indicator light and the esc light. When i put it in drive mode, a light warning me the drive mode was unavailable. The vehicle idles rough. Once i stopped at a stop sign and the vehicle jumped into neutral. The backup camera has stayed on before while driving down the road. Also 2 door handles have had to be replaced and the drivers side knob that has already been replaced once, seems to be sticking like the one before it that completely broke off.
When opening the driver side door, you feel a slight drop, it feels as if the door is unhinged.i took it to the dealer and was told that they had addressed it.the door is still doing the same thing.is this a vehicle issue or could the car have been damaged at the dealer?i have addressed this twice and nothing is being corrected.
Every since i purchased my 2016 fiat 500x easy awd in 2017, i've had issues with my hatch latching mechanism.i'll be driving along and it will open on it's own, which is disconcerting esp when i have stowed something and this happens on a fwy, major safety concern for those driving behind me!dealer could find nothing wrong, though numerous complaints continue to be logged about it.then earlier this year, i went to open the hatch and the rubber push-button fell out.i was able to get it back in there but that only took a passenger slamming the hatch shut for all of the parts to fall out in to the street.now it will not open from the outside nor the inside.called dealer who refused to give me a ball-park price but did say when i do bring it in, i'll be charged a $165 diagnostic fee whether i have it worked on or not and that fee doesn't even go towards the actual repair/replacement/labor costs.seriously?i have to pay them $165 just to diagnose what we both already know what it needs, but would take them all of 5 min to confirm & then takes 5 days for the part to come which i'll be kept in the dark for that cost until he hands me the bill?since when do service techs get paid the full hour for 5 min of looking - not doing anything and then not even apply it towards the actual doing?!is this legal?!they should name the fee more appropriately then, the just because we can fee.i've better titles for this price gouging, but will refrain so that this complaint might drive a recall for this faulty hatch latch mechanisim.

The vehicle driver's door handle breaks easily. I went to open the door while it was parked.

Vehicle has difficulty shifting in lower gears. When the vehicle shifts, the car jerks you forward. This has happened increasingly over the last several months, but has been present since i bought the vehicle in feb '19. Vehicle also tends to shake when in idle at red lights, shaking stops after putting the vehicle in neutral.

My power sunroof glass exploded and shattered while i was driving on a city road. Nothing struck the sunroof, there were no other cars around, the road was clear as was the weather.

Around october 9, i tried to turn on the ignition as usual with the key fob. The engine would't turn, so i recharged the battery. After 10 minutes, it finally cranked. The battery is good, however, so i replaced the battery in the fob. On october 19, i used the key fob and all kinds of indicator lights came on. When i placed the car in reverse, several light indicators (service engine, check transmission, etc.) and it was like something inside the engine dropped as if the car shifted into another gear. The 'r' and the 'd' blinked steadily. I called and alerted the service department at brewbaker dealership, but the only availability was the following monday. By fate, the car began to operate better. For nearly a week, the ignition started to improve although it would take two tries. The other day my check engine light came on and said that my coolant level was low. I went a grabbed coolant and filled it up to the max line. For two days in a row now, i have been having lights randomly pop up on my dash. Such as drive mode unavailable, service engine, 4wd unavailable. It has also randomly stalled while driving with my son in the car. The dealership said there is nothing wrong with the car. Which there obviously is. I searched and numerous people have had the same issues with their 2016 fiat 500x, and the dealerships all say the same thing. Incidents have allhapened while the car was in motion. On neighborhood roads to interstate. At speed mileage of anywhere from 15-70mph.

At 47.000 miles the vehicle engine light came on saying "drive mode unavailable." the dealership told me to stop driving and have the car towed in for service.
Car was getting oil change at another facility.the workers noticed the undercarriage of the car was melted and deformed.there was major oil or other fluids leaking.car was brought in and fixed several times before the transmission was replaced.it was fixed incorrectly and had to be towed in after being fixed.the car stopped driving.no one was able to tell me why the car was like that and why it was fixed incorrectly and unsafe to drive.then several weeks later, the car had another incident and had to be towed in.the driveshaft was broken and replaced.these two major components should not have to be replaced in a car less than 2 years or 20,000 miles.the dealership has not offered any concession or explanation.the manager eventually told me the car was "deformed".i don't feel safe in the car.the car was not showing symptoms with the first incident only leaked fluid.the second time with the drive shaft it was in motion.
Fiat 500x 2016 turns off. No warning,while in motion on a city street. Multiple times, low speed (20 mph) and higher speed (45 mph). Dealership told me it was because i needed to change my oil.
2016 fiat 500x easy sport awd.i took my car in last year due to a code it was threw relating to engine cooling fan & found it was on an updated recall; car was stalling both while driving & while at a complete stop, had excessive oil consumption (1 qrt needed every 2 wks), shifted hard from 1st to 2nd and also had odd idling sound at speeds btwn 15-25mph with sudden 'power burst' and last, excessive heat from engine right before it threw the code. Fiat recall assistance very helpful and got me the replacement part and serviced at local dealership. Recall never showed up under nhtsa even to this day.the replacement part seemed to cure all except for the odd idling sound. It's as though car is going to stall any second, almost a 'knocking' in engine and slight shaking can be felt.recvd notice today from same dealership that took care of last recall on my car.apparently it has been added to the powertrain recall 16v529000, so i will be scheduling an appt tomorrow.when i tried to find the recall, my vin search came back with 'you have 0 unrepaired recalls'??? i had to complete a search without the vin to find out what campaign it was under. If dealer is sending me alerts, certainly nhtsa should have my car listed for the same recall as they do...you guys do all go off the same recall database as mfg do, don't you?
I received the error message "drive mode unavailable"with a service engine message after my last regular service appointment and oil change. My car is at 27,400 miles and after throwing that code barely could make it up aresidential hill. After the local service department claimed to have fixed it, 3 miles down the road the message popped up again and driving was difficult. My local dealership has had my fiat 500x now the second time since december 1st with no updates for me.
Currently the car wonā€™t shift gears out of park. I had it towed to dealer to have it diagnosed and then to another mechanic for a second opinion. There were no warning lights and transmission fluid is not low. It has been a year since it happened (october 2020) and itā€™s parked because replacing transmission is 6k according to dealer. Manufacturer has not recalled my specific vin but the dealer has told me there are thousands of cars of this model recalled for same exact issue already. This car also the year prior turned off and stayed in park twice. Once at a stop light and then once in park but both of those two times it resolved itself. I took it to the dealer but they couldnā€™t find anything at the time because it has gone back to working. This is in georgia. Additionally, the lights go out approximately every 6 months. Itā€™s not fuse or bulbs so iā€™m forever changing lights. This of course not being the bigger issue. The dealer canā€™t find whatā€™s causing this but we know for sure the transmission issue is one thatā€™s been recalled in other vins of this year, make, and model.
This vehicle has 3 recalls and i didn't see them all listed on your website. The new recall i will enclose in a document. The first recall was an issue with shifting into all wheel drive and connected to the electrical system. The cooling agent fan is malfunctioning which can overheat and cause risk of injury and possible fire in engine. I started noticing my check engine light would go on after start up even though i wasn't due for one. I checked oil and it was fine. My car started jolting forward and backwards when started .it would jolt backwards while in reverse.it's lost power after starting while reversing in my garge. At times i was afraid it would stall while driving on back roads and while slowing down for turns.on highway and main roads i started smelling heat from fromengine and could feel the engine struggling to function.it's at dealership now for recall. The drive mode unavailable light service your engine; has come on since i've had my 2016 fiat 500x.
Car will randomly turn itself off while driving. This has happened 3 times (i currently have just over 70k miles on the car). There are also electrical issues (seizure warning should come with this car- the touch screen radio will turn itself off and on continuously while driving). As with most other complaints, my drivers side door handle came off as well.
My fiat 500x is brand new barely 350 miles...it has been towed twice so far and is presently being worked on now. I am afraid to drive it since it stalls out while driving and eventually will not restart. I have been researching online and have found similar issues. I feel unsafe driving this vehicle and could end up being in or causing an accident since i was almost hit both times my car stalled out...once on the highway and the other time most recently in high city traffic. I just want a replacement of equal value.
While driving my fiat 500x, it jerks when it's shifting gears or accelerating. I took it into the dealership and there was a bulletin concerning the transmission i believe. But whatever update was done, it did not take care of the problem. I've looked for info regarding this issue and have found there are several other people having the same problem.
I just filed a compliant regarding my car shifting gears to neutral scince sept. I was deniedmy compliant and request of a repurchase by the ncdsthis feburary .i hope you got my original complaint. I did state that my computer won,t upload information or documents but i haveit. I was denied because fiat of tinley park said they could not find codes to repair the problem .my car was in motion each time on a city street and i came very close to very serous crashes. Somethig is wrong with my car but i can,t prove it. Is something wrong with the codes as well. Thank you. My 500x that i purchased in july of 2016 has shifted gears to the + symbol 4 different times while im driving. It started in sept but i thought i had it a bump or something. It happened again 3 times i did go back to the bettenhauser dealer for service 3 times and they said i had to not turn the car off and get to them before they closed because they could not see codes to the problem .at this pointin time they gave me a loaner to drive for about a week while they drove the car. They said they found nothing. I took my car back 2 weeks ago and i drive with a prayer that it doesn,t happen again while im in traffic as it did before scaring me to death. Do you have any suggestions. I see no recalls on this problem so far but something is wrong with my car. Thank you. All this happened when i was in traffic on the city streets of chicago. I did come very close to having a terrible accident three times.the service dept has incorrect mileageon dates i was in for this problem. Correct date for 10/18/16 mileage 2,378 for 10/26/16 incorrect mileage 7,531 correct mileage for 1115/16 2,728 .
The vehicle shifts into neutral while driving. This usually happens while i'm 3rd gear and you start to accelerate, then the car shifts into neutral. This situation has accrued while pulling out into traffic and while driving down a highway.
I have had at least 5 incidents so far with my fiat turning completely off while driving down the road. I have taken it in numerous of times to the dealer with no luck. I have documented each and every time my car decides to shut off while driving. I find my car to be a safety hazard to me and my family as well as others. The dealerships seem to not know why my fiat tends to shut down while driving. First i had only about 25000 miles and it shuts off while turning in a 4 way intersection, fiat place had me take it in just to say it needed an update. Second time i stalled in my neighborhood with my children inside. Called the dealer, said it needed an update. 3rd time happened while driving it to the dealership the same day. Dealer had it for two weeks and said it was a new update that caused my fiat to turn off completely. 4th time happened while i driving down the road at 45mph and dealer had me bring it in and said it was caused by my key fob battery ( literally just changed the batteries the day before). All bs from the dealers mechanics. So i called fiat customer service and they told me i should not be driving the vehicle at all, i should return the car to the dealer to have them run test. They had it for a month and said it was caused by my driving habits and they could not do anything about it. Sonow my fiat decides to shut off while driving 70mph 49000 miles on the interstate, thankfully i was in the slow lane and was able to coast to a safe position to put my car in park and restart.this has been happening since the 3rd month of ownership june 2017.
Over the past two years i've had to take my vehicle in to the dealership numerous times. The car will accelerate on its ownwithout touching the gas pedal,switch gears on its own, accelerate while making a stop, uncontrollably jerk well moving at a slow speed's and display messages such as drive mode unavailable at random times while driving. This car is dangerous to drive and has almost created an accident numerous times while i had my children in the vehicle.

Vehicle goes into "limp mode" anytime wheels slip, untill computer clears no throttle or motion, vehicle is inoperable for over 5+ seconds and then accelerated at whatever position throttle is at. Dealer and mechanics say all new fiats 2 and 4wheel drive all have this issue and they cannot fix. I pulled out into traffic, wheel slipped and went into limp in middle of lanes untill it cleared and took off at half throttle and almost got smeared by traffic. Dealer says all fiats have same problem and only solution is to give a lot of lead time before entering traffic and try not to accelerate as to make wheels slip when road conditions may cause slipping. This has happend pulling out into traffic and while on ramps, hills. If on curve or hill vehicle will go int "limp mode" and will just slide down hills and through curves!!!
