This summer i have had two incidents with power king towmax tires on my boat trailer. The size of the tire is 215 75r14. I purchased them in spring of 2007 and they have had minimal use since then. I have used the boat on weekend trips of a max of around 200 miles periodically through out the summers. There was more tread left on the tire than i used up. The boat is stored under an overhang open garage with sides that keep the tires shaded. In 7/2014 the tread came off a tire but stayed inflated for another 5 miles until i got home. Only then did i realize that the tread was missing. It mangled the wheel well and destroyed the light connected to it. I replaced the tire with the spare which was the same type of tire purchased at the same time and it completely blew out yesterday. It looks like the tread partially separated but this time the sidewall gave out and the tire went completely flat immediately. I had partially straightened the wheel well which now looks like it did the first time the tread separated. Also, the steel rim held up pretty good but now has a large dent which will probably make it unusable. In all i feel lucky that no one was next to me because there would be an accident as the trailer pulled hard right when the tire blew. Before i left, i check air pressure and filled them to 50 psi. Also, there were no obvious signs of tread separation before i left. It seems to me now with 47 complaints with similar problems that there is a systemic problem and something should be done before more people get hurt.
