My car engine was blown at 48,600 miles due to a valve coming apart and a piston going through the engine. The most ironic part of this is that it happened 7 days after the expiration of my 7 year 70,000 mile extended warranty that i purchased when i bought the car. As you can see the milage was significantly under the mileage threshold by more than 30%. I have contacted chysler and my dealer. Chrysler came back with an offer of $6,000 to repair my engine of which they would pay half. Sounds like a great deal, huh? not really when the book value on the car is $3,000. I continued to try to get chrysler to cover the costs (which i believe are at retail prices) based on goodwill and to stand by their products. To no avail chyrsler would not budge. My dealer has offered to pay half of my share or $1,500. I am grateful that my dealer has offered me something more reasonable. I am planning on writing to chrysler to express my dissatisfaction with their products and their consumer good will. I have obtained some good information from your site to include in my letter. I certainly will never buy a chrysler product again

Active restraint system fails to operate below 30 degrees (f).chrysler part #mb791139.the shoulder belt mechanism locks and fails to release when below the above temperature. Because the component is beneath the center arm rest, it does not sufficiently warm until after an hour of vehicle use.the result is the shoulder belt cannot be used during the first hour of driving as it will not extend to its' intended position.this issue is consistent and occurs every day when the ambient temperature is below 30 degrees(f).
