The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph the leaf spring fractured and the axle to the leaf springlanding gear prevented the axle from becoming completely detached from the vehicle. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the leaf spring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150.
