2007 ducati monster 695 fuel tank is expanding and warping. Tank is a plastic construction and shows signs of changes in size.
My motorcycle has a plastic gas tank which has begun to expand.the outside dimensions of the tank have increased and it now does not sit correctly in the frame, the handlebars hit it on turning, and it presses against the ignition switch.previously it opened and closed without problems, now i have to wedge it against the ignition switch to close it.the rubber mounts no longer sit on the frame.i have not significantly modified my motorcycle except for an aftermarket exhaust and some cosmetic changes.i have made no modifications to the fuel tank or fuel pump.i took the bike to the dealer who submitted a claim to ducati north america (the importer/factory).i am very concerned as to the safety of this motorcycle now.the tank's swelling has made it so the handlebars do not turn correctly.if the tank swells enough, it will split open and i am concerned this will happen while i am riding.

I have had the tank inspected by a ducati dealership who has contacted ducati na and have not yet received a response.
Ethanol reacts with the plastic tank causing it to expand resulting in possible gas leaking. Warping of the tank and expansion signs are visible. Nothing has been done yet to correct this issue.
The plastic gas tank on my 2007 ducati monster 695 is expanding, the rubber mounts that hold it to the frame have now completely overlapped the frame on one side, and it is expanding over the ignition switch and putting considerable pressure on it. I don't know how much more it will expand before it cracks somewhere. The vehicle has not been modified, it is completely stock from the factory.

I contacted the dealer who will submit a claim to ducati north america (the importer/factory) and they will replace the tank with another plastic one. Which i fear it will deform as well. Btw, this is a ducati monster 695, the form only showed a 696.

The nylon fuel tank on my ducati monster is expanding due to use of ethanol fuel blends at most major gas stations. It is beginning to leak around the top and swell on the sides.
I have a warped/expanding gas tank on a 2007 ducati monster 695 motorcycle.
The gas tank on this motorcycle is plastic and has swollen to the point that it will not securely latch to the frame. It has swollen against the latch that connects it and into the ignition system. If you ride this bike, you are riding it without the tank connected to the bike.
