Bought a 2008 ducati sportclassic sport 1000 in august of 2008. Was not informed by anyone (sales staff or ducati of north america) that there is a known issue with the plastic tanks deforming, bubbling, dimpling and/or leaking after being exposed to the gasoline used in n. America. 12 months later the tank on my ducati began to pull away from the mounts on the frame. This caused the tank to be loose and unsafe. I was told to shim it by the ducati dealership. I did so. 8 months later the tank has small bubbles appearing under the paint. I returned the bike to the dealership who replaced the tank. The replacement tank from ducati is made of the same materials as the first one and does not solve the problem. The "new" tank will spread, bubble, dimple and/or leak again. Ducati has not offered any solution to this safety issue with their tanks other than to replace the tank with another one of the same material. This is a dangerous and irresponsible practice.

The fuel tank has expanded and deformed, allowing it to disengage from its mounts and separate from the motorcycle. It also developed dimples and bumps on it's outer surface.

After less than 600 miles on my new ducati sport 1000s ,y fuel tank has warped, causing it to become loose.i have shimmed it after the first occurrence but the problem has become worse and the tank is again loose.i have contacted ducati of north america and the local dealerto no avail.apparently the cause is the addition of ethanol in the gas.like i said, nothing has been done by the dealer or the manufac. To fix or remedy the problem.

Expanding/spreading gas tank on 2008 ducati sport 1000 s. Tank is becoming deformed more increasingly.*cw

After approximately one year of ownership, the gas tank on my 2008 ducati gt1000 motorcycle expanded to the point where it was no longer secured by the mounting bosses and could easily be lifted off the frame.my local ducati dealer replaced the tank under warranty with another tank made of the same material.now, the second tank has began to spread and is loose from the mounting bosses.

Motorcycle:2008 ducati gt-1000.plastic gas tank has deformed in shape, so that the tank does not fit securely in the mounting hardware.possible cause is ethanol blended fuel and reaction with plastic material.ducati is replacing tanks under warranty, but tanks are constructed with same material which in turn, begins to spread again.permanent fix needs to be addressed, as warranty period will eventually end.

Fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings. Bike will stop running at any time, sometimes will not start. Same as 2007 recall.

2008 ducati sport 1000 motorcycle.the plastic gas tank has spread away from the on the frame.i have shimmed it in but if it continues there will be nothing to keep the tank in place.dealer has no fix.

2008 ducati gt 1000 ---tank is spreading and lifts completely off the frame with 1 finger. I am concerned for my safety and ducati has not replaced my tank yet.

1) the plastic gas tank has "spread" or deformed and no longer mounts to front bracket of the motorcycle frame. In the event of an accident the tank would come loose from the motorcycle. 2) the spreading seems to be caused by fuel containing ethanol and once the tank has spread it does not return to the original shape.

Gas tank has deformed, possibly due to the presence of ethanol in gasoline.resulted in tank spreading and being loose from mounts.manufacturer's solution has been to add shims to tank mounts, however tank has continued to spread.a related (not a safety issue) issue has been surface bubbling causing unacceptable visual issue.

Fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings. Bike will stop running at any time, sometimes will not start. Same as 2007 recall.
