Airbag panel broke loose, can see the airbag components, can easly deploy without warning.

Driving home, rd being repaired, tire hit low shoulder, threw vehicle into rail, got vehicle on rd, vehicle spun & hit rail again, air bags did not deploy.

The vehicle rear ended another vehicle and got rear ended from another vehicle while braking from 65mph, and neither the driver's nor passenger's side airbags deployed. Vehicle has not been looked at yet.

My 95 stratus was involed in a front collision with a truck at or aroand 40 to 45 mile impact, and the bags did not work.

I am filing this complaint with respect to a 1995 dodge stratus.the dodge stratus is equipped with a device which i assume is tied in with the car's electronics or computer.the purpose of this specific device is to monitor the operation of the car's transmission so that whenever the transmission is under stress or is not operating as designed or intended (or at least the the computer surmises that the transmission is not operating normally or up to standard), the computer whenever that occurs automatically downshifts the dodge stratus to 2nd gear without any prior warning or notice whatsoever to the driver and the dodge remains in 2nd gear until such time as the dodge is brought to a complete stop anduntil the engine is completely turned off.if you then allow the dodge engine to remain off for 3 or 4 minutes and then turn the engine back on again, the car will perform normally again and without incident at speeds up to 40 or 50 or 60 miles per hour until such time as the computer, once again, succumbs to the urge to downshift to 2nd gear.at that point, the driver finds himself in 2nd gear and with no viable alternative but to pull off the road and turn off the engine once again.to comprehend what that predicament is like from the driver?s point of view,one has only to envision yourself on the new jersey turnpike or the long island expressway in rush hour traffic with dozens and dozens of 18 wheeler trucks all going 55and 65 miles an hour when, out of the blue, the computer on the dodge stratus decides to downshift to 20 miles an hourand the nearest 18 wheeler truck is only 10 feet behind you and doing 60miles an hour.in that scenario, the possibilities for a horrible and catastrophic accident costing dozens of lives is apparent---all because theonboard computer on the dodge stratus decided on its own to downshiftto 2nd gear.

Impact of dodge into a 1992 chevrolet suburban at right angles was sufficient to knock tire off the opposite side of th chevy, demolish the front end of the dodge and fracture the sternum of the driver of the dodge (as he struck the steering column, restrained only by the seat belt), but neither air bag deployed.

Keep blowing fuses to the starter,catalyst converter needs to be replaced, had car less than 2 years failed pa state inspection twice in 1998 ,6/98 & 7/98, and 5/99.when inspected in 98 took to midas, was told that car would need to have $800 in repairs done to the brake line, was given a long list of things needed to be done, told dealer, they fixed one problem rear wheel cylinders leaked which made rear brakes go bad, dealer had another nissan dealer in pa to inspectwas charged $60 to replace winshield wipers and inspect, car already had new wipers could not pass without them.winshield washer does not work did not know when car was brought told dealer, dealer said there would be a charge to fix only, had car for less than 2 weeks.car keeps cutting off when steering wheel is turned all the way to the left.when stopped car seems like it will cut off, had tune up by dealer to fix problem, still keeps cutting off.driver side floor mat gets stuck between where the floor and steering column meets, have to turn car off in traffic to release mat.needed power steering pump at 58,000 miles was replaced by dealer.tape deck makes irritating noise and keeps eating tapes.need to know can car be a possible lemon?had car only 18 months car has had thousands of dollars in auto work,brought car at 37,326 miles.

The horn system malfunctioned,causing the horn to be inoperative which is a safety feature.cause unknown.please provide further information.

Had to place my foot on the accelorator and quickly shift into reverse to get the car going. Finally, after warranty expired, vehicle lost power while driving at about 30 mph and while engine had been sitting all day. The car could not be started.the dealership replaced the distributor at a cost of $900.00 to me.dealership no help.told that the car was too far out of the warranty eventhough i had reported similar problems during the warranty period.have had many other problems with this car as well.too many to list.almost all component are involved at some point.could nhtsa do anything.there seems to be a widespread problem.othercar owners are having the same difficulty.i'm sure that eventually the cause of their cars stalling will end up being the distributor as well.

Key stuck in ignition.told by repair shop that the shift cylinder is the cause of key being stuck.

1. A/c past 3 tears has failed. Control mode failure. A/c repaired 2x in warrenty. 2. Abs sensor failed at 42000. 3.distributor failed at 90000 3. Transmission-front pump seal started leaking at 90000. 4. Spark plug ring seals(6) failed at 90000.

This car has had 2 replaced computers and 2 oxygen sensorsthat i know of, also i have been to several shops including the doge dealer ships to see why the check ingine light is on and according to their machines there is nothing wrong with the car. But their is something wrong with this car, after driving if on a hot day once you turn off the car and let it set , when you go to start it agian it will not start it acts like it has no gas, it starts popping anddieing out, it almost seems like it is vapor locking. I was told these car do not vapoor lock , but this one sure act like it .i have been back to the dealer ship i bought the car from and they have worked and worked on this car for the same problems and nobody can figure out what the problem is ! i am trying to find out any information on this car that i can , maybe there was a recall before i bought the car and the orginal owner never took the car in .

Because of a bad control modulethe vehicle downshifted into second while traveling at 70 mph. On the highway this caused engine to jerk,and the rpm go revving. Also caused loss power steering. Dealer has been contacted.

Vehicle has been to 2 different dealerships. The first was freedom dodge of lexington and the replaced the abs modular. The problem we were having with the car is that we could be traveling at 55 mph or 5 mph and the car would stop running. Resultingno power. Freedom could not find the problem, so we took it to superior dodge and the did a software update to the computer and still same problems happened. Installed a co-pilot and found the dist. Cap sensor was bad. Replaced, picked the car up and within 24 hours the car stalled 5 times. This vehicle has been in the shop now 9 times, going on 10. I need to know the next steps to take. This is a saftey issue. I could kill someone, or be killed in the vehicle.

The contact owns a 1995 dodge stratus.while driving 65 mph, the vehicle shifted into first gear without warning, which caused the vehicle speed to decrease.there were several repairs performed on the vehicle to correct the failure; however, the failure continued to occur.the transmission was rebuilt and the solenoid was replaced on two occasions.the sensors and relays were replaced on numerous occasions; however, the failure continued to occur.the failure mileage was 63,000 miles and current mileage was 68,000.

What i am doing is trying to get help; my vehicle is badly leaking oil, the recall is for galley plugs, but the dealer in phoenix says it is the head gasket and not covered by the recall, approximately. $900.00 to fix.the dealership said to me on the phone, "at that mileage it won't be the galley plugs, it'l be the head gasket, that's what it always is with those stratus'"(emphasis mine).what i am trying to understand is that if it is a common of enough problem for the dealership to say that, as well as a head gasket to be shot at such a low mileage, why isn't this just as much as a recall as the galley plugs, allowing me and i'm sure many others to be helped.can somebody please answer this request, i called the chrysler factory about this and they could have cared less.

I was on my way to my joband i may a full stop on a red light the engine stop so i proceeded to check the control panel to view any anormal signal.afterwards i turned the ignition on andput the car on drive, i turned right on the intersection . After drivingabout 100 feet the engine stopped again and when i try to turned it on there was a big explosion and a big flame came out from the engine.inmediatedly i got out from the car and some passbyers called the police and firemen. Underhood fire while driving; exact cause unknown; vehicle totaled.ttthe electronic fuel injection system failed. The fire was caused by faulty maintenance in the a/c.

Service bulletin. Vehicle exibits oil leak, smoke coming from underneath the hood. Resulting in vehicle fire.

A cluster of wires under the hood, between the firewall and the engine, have corroded. This caused brake failure as well as failure to all dashboard lights. Also car could not be hooked up to diagnostic computer.lucky for them i was only backing out of a driveway.

Fuse burned out. Fuel starter burned out (short circuit) when the engine startedi replaced the fuse in multiple occasions.this is not a normal situation because at any time this failure occurs.

Krane chrysler has looked at car twice for this.replacing fuses about 4 times or more a week now.

Oil is leaking from the engine head gasket.the vehicle is being serviced at the dealership. The kit for the engine head gakset is on national back order.

Nhtsa recall # 96v006 000/engine: vehicle experiencing problem with oil leakages from engine cylinder head which could cause a fire in engine compartment.

Blown head gasket......occurrence was shortly after service dept. At brian bemis left a small piece of hose in the throttle and stuck the throttle open, the oil leak started shortly after. Brian bemis' service said the oil leak was caused by a blown head gasket, w/ a quote of 750.00 to repair. The quote was given to us in jan. Of 2000. Car leaks approx. 2-4 quarts/day. I had my oil changed, and the service people said that my head gasket was bad.i contacted parkway dodge and had them replace the head gasket. They broke an egr valve doing the replacement.now my dodge has a vibration in it, and is worse when the car is in drive.the dealership has told me that they and chrysler corp. Oil is leaking from gasket cylinder head. Had this problem fixed once, butsame problemreturned. Contact chrysler, and they stated that they were aware it was a problem withgaskets.

Dodge has a problem with head gaskets in their 4 clyndar cars - 2 times it has gone ona 1995 stratus.

Engine head gasket is leaking oil all over the bottom of the engine at a rate of 1 quart every 10-14 days, causing nauseating odors inside vehicle.two dealers are aware of the problem and say that there isn't a recall on the head gasket, and that's it's not their problem, rather it's mine, and i have to pay the $600 to fix it. This is not right!.

Owner noticed an oil leakage from vehicle. When taken to dealer, dealer stated that the engine head gasket was blown, which is a known problem.

I was driving my car in town at approx. 30 mph when i started losing power and saw white smoke coming out of my exhaust.i knew from an experience my father had with his car, that it was the head gasket.i immediately pulled the car over and had it towed to my local dodge dealer.keep in mind that at this point the car was running with no other problems other than the loss of power and the smoke.upon hearing from the dealer, i was shocked when he told me the engine was blown and that they would have to replace the motor.i couldnt possibly afford the $3000 or $4000 estimate they gave me, so i told them to leave it alone and would have it towed out of their lot. When i met the independent mechanic with the tow truck on their lot, i noticed that my car had been driven on the other side of their lot.when i told the independent mechanic about what it was doing when i gave control of my car to the dealer, he told me that there is no way the motor was blown.they were just trying to get some money out of me.he then told me to start the car and let him see what it was doing.when it started it was making a lot of noise.noise it was not making when i shut the motor off.we could only come to the conclusion after seeing were the car was parked that the dealer mechanics had driven it against my instructions and caused the motor to blow.so instead of what would have been a replaced head gasket, turned into a motor replacement.after contacting cryster customer service, they refused to make any attempt to pay for any damages i had incurred.even after admitting what i had heard from many mechanics, that the 95 2.0l motor had this known problem.

My headgasket has been leaking for a long time. I have tryed to get chrysler to pay for thier mistake. I replaced the gasket. The new one is a lot thicker then the old one.so, if they modified the new gasket, then something must be wrong with the original one. That's why all these car owners are having problems with a leaking gasket on their dodge stratuses and neons. This could be looked at as a safety and environmental hazard, because the leaking oil on the engine could catch on fire and the leaking oil on the ground can get into the environment. I paid for the head gasket when i bought the car, now i'm having to pay for it again.i feel. (dot number: 0tiresize: 0)

Had oil changed and was told the head gasket was leaking. Car was checked several times since new for a odor in car. All that was done at the dealer ,is they sprayed deodorizer for the smell. Might be the origin of the odor. Small amount of oil leaking onto the exhaust. Head gasket problems seems to be the thing on a stratus.

While driving at approximately 30 mph, my car started to overheat. When i pulled over, the coolant was pouring out of the engine. I had the car towed to a garage and was told that it failed the "block test" meaning that it needed a new head gasket.i took the car to a second garage and was told the same thing.this is a known failure that has been happening since the car was produced.the manufacture needs to cover the parts and labor of this repair.i was told by my local dealer, dayton andrews dodge, that this particular car is not covered under the earlier recall.

There was a problem from the start with headgasket leak but i wasn't aware of it until know ihave been told by mechanics that thei have been several cars came in for repairs but they were too late because they were not aware of the defects causing engine problems which chyrsler should have made a recall but didn'ti contacted them and they told me that the vehicle was out of warrantyand would not do anything to help me i think theyshould be responsible and standby their products ,they also should pay every onewho had this repair done . I was on the highway going home when all of a sudden my car gave a loud bang and smoke started coming out of the hood.the car had stalled and i got to the side of the road.flames where shooting out of the engine compartment.i was told by the mechanic who finally looked at the car that one of the cylinders had gone through the side wall and caused the fire.i have since learned that there was a recall on the engine.to be more precise the galley plug, i would like to find out if anyone had serviced my car on the recall.if they haden't then maybe that is what cause the problem, i really would like to know.

Vehicle has been to 2 different dealerships. The first was freedom dodge of lexington and the replaced the abs modular. The problem we were having with the car is that we could be traveling at 55 mph or 5 mph and the car would stop running. Resultingno power. Freedom could not find the problem, so we took it to superior dodge and the did a software update to the computer and still same problems happened. Installed a co-pilot and found the dist. Cap sensor was bad. Replaced, picked the car up and within 24 hours the car stalled 5 times. This vehicle has been in the shop now 9 times, going on 10. I need to know the next steps to take. I had my oil changed, and the service people said that my head gasket was bad.i contacted parkway dodge and had them replace the head gasket. They broke an egr valve doing the replacement.now my dodge has a vibration in it, and is worse when the car is in drive.the dealership has told me that they and chrysler corp. Engineering can find nothing wrong with the car.myengineis still vibrating.

Plastic fuel filler neck that attaches to the metal flange that attaches to body of car that has the gas cap on. The metal part that attaches to plastic neck is rusted out and venting gas vapor all the time. Called the dealer to buy a replacement part and was told that this part is pacific to only 95 and 96 model years andpart is out of production. I am filing this complaint with respect to a 1995 dodge stratus.the dodge stratus is equipped with a device which i assume is tied in with the car's electronics or computer.the purpose of this specific device is to monitor the operation of the car's transmission so that whenever the transmission is under stress or is not operating as designed or intended (or at least the the computer surmises that the transmission is not operating normally or up to standard), the computer whenever that occurs automatically downshifts the dodge stratus to 2nd gear without any prior warning or notice whatsoever to the driver and the dodge remains in 2nd gear until such time as the dodge is brought to a complete stop anduntil the engine is completely turned off.if you then allow the dodge engine to remain off for 3 or 4 minutes and then turn the engine back on again, the car will perform normally again and without incident at speeds up to 40 or 50 or 60 miles per hour until such time as the computer, once again, succumbs to the urge to downshift to 2nd gear.at that point, the driver finds himself in 2nd gear and with no viable alternative but to pull off the road and turn off the engine once again.to comprehend what that predicament is like from the driver?s point of view,one has only to envision yourself on the new jersey turnpike or the long island expressway in rush hour traffic with dozens and dozens of 18 wheeler trucks all going 55and 65 miles an hour when, out of the blue, the computer on the dodge stratus decides to downshift to 20 miles an hourand the nearest 18 wheeler truck is only 10 feet behind you and doing 60miles an hour.in that scenario, the possibilities for a horrible and catastrophic accident costing dozens of lives is apparent---all because theonboard computer on the dodge stratus decided on its own to downshiftto 2nd gear.

Purchased vehicle with clean carfax record in feb 06 with 75k miles. At 81k miles transmission started going into limp mode(slams into second gear regardless of vehicle speed). Took car to dealership for diagnostic. They stated the input and output speed sensors were failing according to the computer. I replaced them. A week later the transmission fully failed. Towed to a reputable transmission chain store. They fully rebuilt the mechanicals of transmission and replaced the speed sensors again. As i drove home the transmission returned to limp mode. Returned to shop. They test drove it and second gear clutches burned up. They rebuilt it again and also replaced valve body and solenoid pack. I drove the car for a month before it again started limping. Took the car to another dealership for diagnosis. They blamed the shop and stated they couldn't do anything for me but upgrade the flash in the transmission computer. The computer diagnostics could not reveal why the computer was putting the car in limp. Returned car to previous transmission shop for yet another rebuild. Drove car 2 months before it again started limping. Returned car to trans shop, they rebuilt it again. Still couldn't find concrete cause, replaced valve body again, had me buy replacement transmission computer from dodge, this fixed it for another 2 months. Yesterday it again started going into limp. There is 200 miles remaining in the 12,000 mile rebuild warranty from the first rebuild so it will be in the shop for the 5th time in less than a year.

Chrysler has been entirely unhelpful with this situation. You would think that they would see something is wrong after two failures.no safety defect listed.

Car has had transmission rebuilt three times. First time it was rebuilt by dealer at approximately 85000 miles because of "rough" shifting. Second time at 150000 miles at transmission re-builder because of it consistently going in to "limp" mode. After several return visits, they still could not fix the problem. I drove the car for 10000 miles being careful of conditions that i was in case it slippedin to "limp" mode. I eventually took it to a different shop to have it rechecked. After having all mechanical parts replaced, all sensors, and tcm module the car still goes in to "limp" mode almost on a daily basis.

Dt: since the consumer purchased the vehicle it would shift into low gear or neutral on its own while driving.the vehicle was taken totwo separate dealers for repairs.the dealerperformed a diagnostic test and that ultimately led to the replacement of a solenoid pack.this did not correct the problem.the dealer noted that transmission computer had to be flashed.consumer took vehicle to a dodge dealer and no repairs were done. They did not offer an explanation as to why this happened.the gear still moved while in drive.this is still a problem.

Loose bolt in transmission caused an oil leak.

When driving there is a noise in the rear end (a thumping noise) .possible suspension rleated. Consumer also states the transmission whines loudly, especially when upshifting, and whistles at high speeds, the rear view mirror is too low on the windshield that it obstructs consumer's view of oncoming cars when making a left turn, also coin holder is obstructed by the emergency brake that most of the time consumer is unable to extract coins, consumer states windshields are veyr susceptible to srcatches from dirt and sand blown ip from the road or trucks that it sometimes makes it more difficult to see when driving towards the sun.

This car downshifted while at the speed of 55 or more.

We brought the car back to dealer several times with no satisfaction.when we finally realized what the problem was the warrantee was over.i will never ever buy a car from saturn again, new or used.

While driving at higway speeds of 55 to 60 mphvehicle will automatically downshift on its own, reducing the speed very quickly.this has nearlyresulted ina driver's whiplash. Dealer has been contacted.

When shifting gears there is a noise like some metal scraping metal and the entire engine moves in an unusual manner.

I purchased the car and the car would start to bounce down to first gear and now will not come out of first gear.i have tried to have it worked on but the transmition shop could not fix the problem either!!!

The seat belt buckle came apart on the driver side rear seat belt. The consumer stated that it was a defective cinch plate.*nlm

Problem with rear seatbelts.

In a 35 mph impact the driver's seat broke off from the seat rail,causing the driver's seat to collapse backwards, causing more injuries to the occupant.

When the vehicle was rear-ended the front seats broke and fell into the rear seats. Please describe.

Owner states that his vehicle was in an accident and that driver's side seatback rest fell down to the rear seat of vehicle,owner could not see in front of him at the time of accident.

During rear impact at 45 mph, the driver's side seat came off of the seat track, causing driver to sustain injuries.

The front, right brake locks up under hard braking, causing vehicle to pull hard to the right.i avoided hitting other cars only because there were no other cars in the right lane of traffic.this problem was reported to the dealer and to chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 on may 17, 1999.a mr. Dante amabile with chrysler customer relations reviewed this problem (reference # 5797365), but reported there was no problem with this car and that there was no recall on abs brakes for 1995 dodge stratus models.i referenced nhtsa campaign id number 96v074000, but was told by mr. Amabile that there was no such recall.this is a dangerous car that needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

In october of 99' our car stopped running when brakes applied on i75 during a construction zone. It then stopped running 5 more times that day (10/02/99). We took the vehicle in to find the problem. But we informed that nothing showed on the diginostics. This has been a repeated problem for 4 months. 2 of those months our car sat at freedom dodge of lexington with people telling us the could not get it to duplicate. I have paid for parts that need not be replaced, because i would get the car back and once again i would get about 2 miles from where i picked it up, and it would stop running on me. This happens when i hit the brakes. I lose power steering and power brakes.

Anti lock brakes system continues to experience problems even after several repair attempts.

Vehicle has been to 2 different dealerships. The first was freedom dodge of lexington and the replaced the abs modular. The problem we were having with the car is that we could be traveling at 55 mph or 5 mph and the car would stop running. Resultingno power. Freedom could not find the problem, so we took it to superior dodge and the did a software update to the computer and still same problems happened. Installed a co-pilot and found the dist. Cap sensor was bad. Replaced, picked the car up and within 24 hours the car stalled 5 times. This vehicle has been in the shop now 9 times, going on 10. I need to know the next steps to take. This is a saftey issue. I could kill someone, or be killed in the vehicle.

The consumer has been experiencing problems withanti-lock brakes.when the consumer applies their brakes, the vehicle doesn't stop immediately.it takes longer for the vehicle to come to a complete stop.the manufacturer has been contacted.

Upon exiting a major intersteate, had to apply brakes in order to slow down on ramp. The brake pedal was rock hard and could not be pushed down. Had to apply the emergency brake and skid for about 300 feet. Luckily we did not hit anything before we came to a stop. Brakes worked immediately after this, but we were afraid to drive. Had a tow truck bring car to our local mechanic who could not find anything wrong with car. Test drove for three days and could not duplicate the problem. He then took the car to a chrysler dealer who put the car on the diagnostic computer. Car could not be diagnosed due to an electronic problem in the car. Both the abs and the brake lights were on.and have not turned off since.

The car was stopping normally on clean dry pavement from 35 mph and when slowed to about 25 mph the brake pedal dropped approximatly .25 inches a whirring noise came from under the hood and the brakes seemed to totally free wheel.i pumped the brakes to no avail and stepped on the brake pedal as hard as i could and the car continued to roll with no apparent braking.i looked at the dash and no warning lights were lit .after i carefully limped home with one hand on the parking brake i checked the fluid and it was normal.

The power assisted brakes vibrate violantly when applied. Ttwhen brakes are applied at speeds above 40 mph a strong vibration is felt in bth brake and steering wheel, along with the vibration a loss of braking and steering control is very noticeable, there have been numerous attempts to correct this problme, including replacement of component parts of the brake system ( brake drums and rotors) problem was identified shortly after purchase of vehicle and currently has not been corrected.

The braking system was replaced for the fourth time, purchased car new. Please describe.

Consumer reported a defective master cylinder. In 1996 dealer replaced master cylinder.however, on 12 aug 1999, problem with master cylinder reoccurred, and needed another replacement. Can nhtsa look into this matter and see if this concern defected parts. Dealer notified.

My wife complained of brake pedal travel further than normal. Upon investigation, i discovered that one of the bolt studs that holds the master cylinder to the power brake booster was broken off and missing. The master cylinder was pushed out of the booster to about a 30 degeree angle. The remaining stud was still in place but bent badly to one side. If there had been a panic stop required, i feel that the master cylinder could have separated from the booster, with the effect of having no braking effectiveness. This could have resulted in a serious accident or fatality.

Because of a bad control modulethe vehicle downshifted into second while traveling at 70 mph. On the highway this caused engine to jerk,and the rpm go revving. Also caused loss power steering. Dealer has been contacted.

Dodge has several items wrong with there front ends.never telling the public.my dodge has steering noise from day one.dodge has 29 items in there sys.19 computor ,ihave the top 5 items wrong with my dodge.no dealer around me have ever replaced a return line from the steering cooler,this line has very little psi. In it.when the said line lets go you lose all steering fluid and steering.dodge will not help with this matter i must do this repair my self,about 8hrs. Labor and $17.00 in parts.

Took my car to get the power steering fixed after it stopped working.the repair shop called me and told me the car's engine had caught on fire and that they were not liable.i retrieved the vehicle and have since had to repair all of the electronics, hoses, hood, and paint in the engine compartment area.

Power steering return hose fractured and had to be replaced, could not steer vehicle.ttvehicle was towed to dealer and necessary repairs were made.

Dt*:the contact stated while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot, flames erupted from under the hood without warning.the fire department was alerted and extinguished the fire.no injuries were sustained.there was moderate fire damage to the under hood area.the police were not alerted.the vehicle was inspected by the dealership who determined the fire originated from the power steering hose.there was a nhtsa recall, # 06v001000, regarding the steering:hydraulic power assist:hose, piping, and connections.the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.the manufacturer was alerted.

Dodge has recalled 1999-2000 stratus because power steering fluid is leaking on back of engine in 2.4 liter cars.fire hazard. We have a 1995 same motor same problem since the car hasn't been recalled its not dodge's problem.

First incident involved loss of steering control on a right turn. Steering wheel locked and i had to brake hard. Second incident was again a right hand turn in an intersection, the wheels locked and though i was turning right the car went straight towards oncoming traffic. Braked hard, lucky car behind me swerved. There is steering related safety recall on 95 stratus, but dealer says my car is not covered and wants me to pay over 600 $ for repairs. Chrysler customer service is rude and callous, refused to acknowledge steering failure as a serious problem.

Trunk lid has no hydraulic support rod, trunk crashes down when ever pushed up, as result, lid has fallen on owners head several times causing injury, mfr. Indicates it was manufatured thatway and no adjustment can be made.

The trunk lid has no air shocks just springs on both sides, if the wind blows or if there is any kind of movement in the trunk the lid will slam shut.

Water leaks into floor board continually, unable to rectify leakage resulting in damage to carpeting.

Design of vehicle creates poor visibility of rear and front ends, resulting in minor collision when trying to park.

Consumer states that the correct struts for vehicle are no longer available.consumer states over time the front end may fall. The consumer stated that the struts available were unsatisfactory since it is known to causes unnecessary wear to front end parts resulting in misalignment of the vehicle.

I cannot get the proper front struts the ones dodge sells are unsafe to put on. My mechanic and a certified dodge mechanic said that if i put these on it would not be possible to keep the car lined upand it could cause improper tire wear or not put pressure in the wrong places in the front end possibly causing an unsafe condition.i was told that 95 stratus and sebrings are the only ones with this problem. They must have run out of the original struts so they put apaper in the strut box saying to turn the rubber spring isolater around.if you do this everythig is angeled wrong and the rubber only half sits on the spring. This is rediculous.you could never keep the car lined up. My mechanic said there is no way he would be resosible putting them on. If dodge wants to sign a paper saying they will be resonsible for any accidents or be resonsible forfront end misaligment or parts failure then i will put them on. I should not be forced into putting an unsafe part on my car.dodge changed everythig on the front end in 96 and they must have finally run out of the proper struts so instead of tooling up and making more of the rite ones they are trying to get away wwith this. If you have any mechanic look at this he will tell you how wrong it is. It makes me wonder how my 95 dodge stratus and sebrings out out on the road running this unsafe and possibly hazadous parts. This should be investigated asap.because this is so wrong. This car has a recall for tyhe front end already. This should become another recall so they can make sure thesemodel cars have the safe and proper struts on the front.if you have someone try to put these struts on they would tell you how wrong it is. All i want is the safe parts for my car.

The front right end of the vehicle collapsed while on the expressway. Dealer has the vehicle now.

The front end started to squeak going over bumps as the suspension moved. The car was taken into a private mechanic who told me the right ball joint/lower control arm was failing and there was a recall for this problem, recall #750.i was referred to daimerchrysler's toll free number.i called them on 02-17-2000 and 02-18-2000. Both times their representitive told me my car didn't fall under the recall because the vin number didn't match the numbers in the recall.i told them normal wear and tear doesn't cause ball joint problems until well into the 100,000 mile range.i also told them of the cars low mileage and they still refused to repair.daimerchrysler's file number is 6833820. This problem is a safety hazard, the year, make, model of my car falls under the recall and chrysler refuses to fix this problem.

On 9/19/00 we took our car to tire mart, in staunton, va to have tire pressure checked.we were informed that the tires had stress cracks and that the tread appeared to be starting to separate from the tire.this was on all four tires.the dot icur p21 has a box with a # in each box, which is 488, 099, 488, and 448.we don't know if this number is significant but have included it.we would like to know what to do, as we fell that our safety may be in jeopardy?we have e-mailed bridgestone and have not received anything back from them.thank you, hazel and hinman strange. Keep blowing fuses to the starter,catalyst converter needs to be replaced, had car less than 2 years failed pa state inspection twice in 1998 ,6/98 & 7/98, and 5/99.when inspected in 98 took to midas, was told that car would need to have $800 in repairs done to the brake line, was given a long list of things needed to be done, told dealer, they fixed one problem rear wheel cylinders leaked which made rear brakes go bad, dealer had another nissan dealer in pa to inspectwas charged $60 to replace winshield wipers and inspect, car already had new wipers could not pass without them.winshield washer does not work did not know when car was brought told dealer, dealer said there would be a charge to fix only, had car for less than 2 weeks.car keeps cutting off when steering wheel is turned all the way to the left.when stopped car seems like it will cut off, had tune up by dealer to fix problem, still keeps cutting off.driver side floor mat gets stuck between where the floor and steering column meets, have to turn car off in traffic to release mat.needed power steering pump at 58,000 miles was replaced by dealer.tape deck makes irritating noise and keeps eating tapes.need to know can car be a possible lemon?had car only 18 months car has had thousands of dollars in auto work,brought car at 37,326 miles.

I paid over $1000 to replace my blown head gasket, only to find out that there were hundreds of other people experiencing similar troubles.i am looking to be reimbursed as i am a financially challenged recent college graduate.every cent counts in getting by!i am also a former intern to daimlerchrysler corp.and this manufacturing defect needs to be fixed! it is the right thing to do!please advise accordingly.thank you for your kind attention to this matter.

Seat belt on the driver's side fails to latch properly.locking mechanism in buckle fails catch latch plate. Buckle needs to be replaced.engine checklight keeps coming on.may need to have egr valve changed.*ml

Theengine check light has come on intermittently since i bought this car.most of the time the dealships have told me it was a false code. In dec. Of 99 i took it to a transmission place and they said their computer told them that the car had burned a shift clutch in the transmission and it would cost 1200 because they had to tear into the transmission. The tachometer also stays at zero most of the time, but every once in a while it will work.

As aresult of above component failure, engine was destroyed by heat. The temperature gauge was on coldand the "engine checklight" came on about20 seconds before the car stopped.had the cartowed to dealer in chatanooga. They reported a blown head gasketand oil in the water.further investigation revealedcatastrophic damage toall engine parts.recommended replacement ofshort block at a price of $3700.paid them $391 dollars for their trouble and am having the car towed back to knoxville.am presently searching for a used engine.

Vehicle initially would not move upon acceleration, then without warning, engine would suddenly accelerate.

With cruise control engaged/4-5 people in vehicle/travelling uphill, transmission drops gears, causing sudden acceleration. *dsh

Intermittently when applyingbrakes or while at a stopvehicle will stall out and die without warning. Consumer states vehicle jerks while driving, which causes doors to lock and cruise control goes off, engine revs higher than normal while at a complete stop and while driving forcing consumer to keep her foot on the brake to keep from going to fast.

After parking the vehicle, turned the iginition and vehicle accelerated in reverse, resulting in accident.

The cruise control did not disengage when driver applied the brake pedal. The speed increased from 60-90 mph. Driver had to hit the off button on the steering column to disengage system. The problem has been corrected.

Car cuts off when i slow down to turn, yeild, stop, backup.

Blown head gasket......occurrence was shortly after service dept. At brian bemis left a small piece of hose in the throttle and stuck the throttle open, the oil leak started shortly after. Brian bemis' service said the oil leak was caused by a blown head gasket, w/ a quote of 750.00 to repair. The quote was given to us in jan. Of 2000. Car leaks approx. 2-4 quarts/day. Head gasket not fixed due to cost, husband is full time student, mother at home w/ kids, can't afford repair. Please help.

Consumer was involved in a collision,due to location of the impact passenger's side and the vehicle caught on fire in the in the heater box,the vehicle. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The heater/a.c. Window molding/covercracked and deteriorated which allowed water to enter intovehicle. This problem couldenable water to get into the electrical system and result inan electrical short or fire; dealer/manufacturer were contacted for possible recalls.

While pushing power window button window would not roll down, worked intermittently. Please provide further information.

Consumer also states the transmission whines loudly, especially when upshifting, and whistles at high speeds, the rear view mirror is too low on the windshield that it obstructs consumer's view of oncoming cars when making a left turn, also coin holder is obstructed by the emergency brake that most of the time consumer is unable to extract coins, consumer states windshields are veyr susceptible to srcatches from dirt and sand blown ip from the road or trucks that it sometimes makes it more difficult to see when driving towards the sun.

While driving vehicle at 50 mph the sun roof shattered without warning. Also sun roof was open at the time. Cause unknown.

When traveling in rainy weather condtions and when windshield wipers are needed, they become inoperative, reducing driver's visibility.consumer has contacted dealer. Dealer has yet to replace any parts.unable to determine the cause of the problem. Please provide any further details.

Windshield wiper blades failed to remove ice forming on windshield, impairing visibility.

Brake pads have been replaced 3 times since april 99. Also vehicle wheel studs are cracking and coming off. Dealer has not seen vehicle.
