The servicing dealer, danbury dodge, 100b federal rd, danbury, ct 06813, phone 203-825-5900 has had my truck in the shop 10 times for the induction failure, which dodge has stated is a common problem with my truck model because the induction seals were manufactured out of the wrong materials.yet the service advisor made this statement, "fortunately for dodge, most owners don't recognize the problem until after the warranty has run out".on the last attempt, paul traina the service manager stated that detroit will no longer allow them to work on this problem.even though their own technician verified that there is a problem and that it is a mechanical failure that their computers cannot detect.when traveling at highway speeds and the truck looses power i am an accident waiting to happen.yet they refuse to fix my truck.they will not even talk to me about this.in regards to the steering column, danbury dodge has had to put 3 steering columns in since i bought the truck.they have told me repeatedly that it is defective parts from the factory.in regards to the front end assembly, i put my truck in the shop for repairs when i hit the brakes on the highway and it pulled so hard to the left that it put me on two wheels.dodge did absolutely nothing to fix this.however, it has been in the shop for this 4 times now and they still haven't fixed it.they will not even answer my calls.this is a definite roll over hazard, as i have been on two wheels twice already.i have no other vehicle that i can drive to work every day.i cannpt avoid driving on the highway as that is the only way to get to work.dodge cannot attest to the safety or drivability of this truck.yet every time i sit behind the wheel not only am i at risk of an accident but every one around me is as well.all because dodge refuses to stand up to their warranty.if you can be of assistance on this matter, i would greatly appreciate it.

Transmission problems started in sept. Of 2002 - upshift and downshift w/o reason, check engine light comes on - o/d light comes on, trans downshifts and stays there - can't take it off unless you pull to side of road and actually shut off ignition and recycle it.complete overhaul of trans in late dec. 2002 / jan. 2003.end of jan. 2003 - more of the same. Jul 2003, both front universals went out while vacationing in canada.dealer most accomodating in smiths falls, ontario - but still cost $300.00 plus.trans. Problems again (nov. 2003)dealer has it for 3 days so far and have no answers....what to do???
My transmission consisitently acted up from about 15,000 mile to the present.at 38,000 miles after numerous trips to the dealership the tranny finally stopped completely. Now 11 months and 20,000 miles later it is going out again and chrylsler says they will only pay for part of it this time leaving me with about 2,800 in repairs.
My boyfriend bought a 2001 dodge ram in november of last year.after having the truck only four months the transmission had to be completly replaced.two days ago we noticed a problem with the shocks.he brought it to the dealership and they told him all of the shocks need replacing, as well as other things such as the axel and what not.this is only seven months after buying the thing.the people at the dealership are rude and very unhelpful.they honestly could care less about the inconvenience they have caused us.
The transmission is not shifting properly.went to my mechanic after the check engine light came on.electronic testing indicated two problems: (1) tune up was needed; (2) sensors in transmission indicated problem.when i bought the truck at anderson dodge in bloomfield hills, michigan, i was not informed of the 7-year/70,000 mile warranty on the power train.i found this out only after contacting the chrysler (dodge) web site that i had the 7/70,000 warranty.this was to late as i had already taken the truck to multistate transmission in waterford, michigan (on m-59)((huron street)).the dealership only informed me that i had a 3 year/36 month or 36,000 mile warranty (bumper to bumper) warranty on the vehicle, whichever came first.much to my surprise, when trying to contact chrysler (dodge) on the computer, did i find out that i actually had the 7/70000 warranty.it was to late to take it to a dealership as multistate transmission on m-59 (huron street) in waterford, michigan already had the truck and dropped the trans for repairs.results; rebuild the trans due to torque converter and sensors.problem was that there was a seal inside the transmission that was defective according to multistate.i have also had conversations via the internet with chris, sr. Customer service representative and he was not very helpful.he even asked for my phone number(s) where i could be contacted and he has not contacted me as of this writing.i continue to try to contact him but he fails to return an answer for the messages that i have sent him.i have the copies of all conversations via the internet and can send to you if so needed.i even had a union secretary friend of mine who stated that the customer service reps were members of the union, which she is a secretary to see if she could help.she informed me that if i had taken the truck to a chrysler (dodge) dealership, that they would have possibly paid for half of the repairs.

Two times while backing out of my garage my power steering and brakes went out.the first time resulted in a power steering fluid leakage.after ten minutes the truck was able to be driven to the dealer where the power steering pump was replaced.the second time i was also backing out of my garage and lost both the power steering and power brakes.this time the manufacturer had to have the truck hauled to the dealer.the power steering pump was replaced.dealer told me that the brakes and steering are run off the same gearing on the front of the engine.this truck seems to require constant correction to the steering to minimize wander.
Steering wander/drifting causes an unsafe condition while driving.local dealer has temporarily fixed problem but the problem returned soon after the repair had been made.there is obviously a major problem with the steering and components with vehicles with diesel engines.when the steering components loosen up it causes a very dangerous driving condition requiring excessive steering wheel correction.

The steering on this truck is horrible. It wonders terribly from left to right at any speed. The driver has to constantly correct steering in order to make the vehicle travel in a straight line. This becomes very tiring on trips and presents a hazard during inclimate weather.
While traveling at highway speed, at anytime the steering would become inoperable. On the first 3 incedents a hard jerk of the steering wheel would break it free from its extremely tight condition. The truck would once again return to normal as if there was never a problem. After the first incedent i gave the truck's steering system a thorough check. Nothing seemed wrong or out of place.i tried to contact my local dodge dealer however the service department was not open on saturdays. Since the truck now seemed fine i attempted to go to my house in it. I drove 40-50 miles toward my home without a problem. Within 6 miles of home it occured again, just as it did the first time once again a hard jerk freed the wheel. Another check of the steering system revealed nothing, everything appeared to be fine. 1.5 miles laterit happened again, i repeated the same process again.at this time i decided to slow down my speeds to 35-40mph to help avoiddanger just to make it home and monday i would contact the local dodge dealer and have it towed back to town. However, upon approaching the next bend in the road i was unable to negotiate the curve resulting in a collision with a cluster of trees. I suffered only minor injuries common in that type of accident. Since then i contacted chrysler making a formal complaint, resulting in a independent investigator looking at my truck. I stress looking at it because that is all he did besides taking pictures of it. He never removed any component. I receive a letter from chrysler stateing that after a thorough investigation they concluded there was no manufactering flaw of any kind. My insurance company is doing next to nothing to help me in this matter. As of today (12-6-01) the truck is still in its wrecked condition at a local body shop. The truck should be totalled but the insurance adjuster wants to fix it despite a $22,000 estimate from a chrysler collision center.

I own a 2001 dodge that (just like everyone else) has many cracks from the windshield to the front of the dash (plastic). This problem started about two yrs after purchase. I am lucky that all of the electrical in the dash still works, but it looks like crap. The sunglass door on the overhead console (plastic) is broken. The cup holder (plastic) is broken.this is crazy everyone with an 01 dodge ram knows there was a problem with the plastic that went into the interior. Please do what you can to make these people stand behind there product.

The ball joints of my 2001 dodge ram pickup had 5 times the allowable limit of play, which is 60,000th of an inch (1/16). All four ball joints had 5/16 of play at only 21,000 miles. The shop i went to for my inpection diagnosed the problem, and said i was fortunate that it didn't get any further. One good pot hole with that much play and a wheel could have come off. The shop owner told me that the ball joints were probably out of spec at 6,000 miles, considering their condition at 21,000 miles. He also said that this is a very common problem with all dodge vehicles. He said that he has had dodge durango's in his shop with only 6,000 miles that had the play he found in mine at 21,000 miles!

While driving 65 mph whole front end will shake violently, causing loss of control.dealership and manufacturer have been notified and have no solution.
Dashboard has broken up like a jig saw puzzle.
On my way to work, as usual, on a "slightly" bumpy part of the highway my steering wheel and front end started vibrating so violently that i almost lost control. I could barely hold the steering wheel; and could not steer at all; all i could do was start braking and come to a stop. I got out and checked my tires and front end and everything appeared normal. I continued to work at about 40 mph (i had gone to work early so no traffic) . At 8:00 i called my local mechanic and took it to him to check out what happened. He checkeverything and nothing showed. The next day it happened again; then again 2 days later. About 2 weeks later i took pickup in for regular oil/fuel/air filter change service. He test drove with me along and i explained further what happened. He said he has seen it before with dodge 2500 & 3500 and it has been labeled the "dodge death wobble". I thank god i was not in a busy traffic area.

The truck wanders left and right while going down the road.since new, the steering has seemed "vague".the play in steering wheel can be 4" before turning the truck, this may vary.the steering seems "rubbery".i have had the front wheels aligned two times.the dealer can do no more; they have done a great job of bringing the truck into "specs".a square "linkage tube" was replaced, which provided little or no improvement.the problem persists, constant correction is required to maintain a semblance of a straight path. I was traveling on the highway at about 65 miles per hour when the steering wheel was jerked out of my hands. The truck began to swerve and vibrate, and i realized a tire had blown out. I did not see anything i could have hit on the road nor did i feellike i had hit anything. I changed the tire and took the blown tire to my local goodyear dealer who examined it and confirmed that the tire had not been cut or punctured and concluded that i was running low tire pressure and therefore, even though there is only 17% tread wear i was entitled to only a 50% adjustment on the tire. Numer one i check my tire pressures on all my vehicles regularly and keep at least 40 to 42 pounds of air in at all times, and number two what happened to my manufacturers warranty that states a full replacement during the first twelve months of ownership. I have been in the car business for over 25 years and am a pennsylvania state inspection mechanic and i understand the importance of tire pressure, and that is why i check my regularly. I know in my heart that the tire pressure was not low on this tire and it worries me that it could happen again to another tire on this truck, maybe this time with more dire consequences. I have lost faith in goodyear, dodge, and the dealer, and feel totally out of control when driving this vehicle with goodyear wranglers. I purchased brand new, a 2001 dodge ram 2500 quad cab truck. The trucks dash has so many cracks in it, that they now have ran into each other and large areas have fallen out. This is a manufacturing defect that dodge refuses to do anything about. These cracks have been in my dash for years. It is not heat related because i purchased the truck in washington state and was there for several years before coming to california. This is an electrical hazard and a flying object hazard, should i hit someone or they hit me and pieces start flying from the dashboard. This is a nation wide problem with the dashes from dodge, it's time they do something about it. These cracks have gotten worse and worse over the years.
Dealer couldn\\'t diagnose fuel pump problem. Kept reprogramming computer until total engine failure @ 30,000 km. 10 month fight for engine. 6 weeks to replace in shop. Electrical problems still exist since new. Truck has 77,000 km now. It is totally incapable of towing rv, what truck was bought for. Max fuel mileage empty is 10 mpg, 4 loaded. Excessive smoke. All symptoms verified by outside sources, and dodge states the problem is with me. Am a former diesel mech, and trucker. Dodge refuses outside diagnosis including cummins. This truck has over 18 months of downtime. Just got truck from dealer today again, was told 2 weeks ago that this engine is toasted, then all of a sudden dealer says nothing is wrong with engine. They didn\\'t even have the courtesy to return phone calls or even to call for me to pick up the truck. Dodge will not even accept fuel logs. Have spent in excess of $20,000 out of pocket to keep this bucket going, for things that should have been warranty and outside diagnosis. Am setting up lawsuit now, as i cannot use this vehicle. It has even failed gov\\'t emmision test. Who cares?thanks
