The abs did not work because we slid about 70 to100 feet.we did go to the place the truck was purchased and told them that the air bags nor did the abs work they had no comment.i want someone to investigate and find out if the service department or the manufacturer is responsible for these things not working.

In a head-on collision at 65 mph, the driver side airbags did not deploy.the manufacturer was contacted about this non-deployment and responded, in part, that impact was not sufficient enough to cause air bag deployment and that by not deploying, the manufacturer feels the vehicle responded properly in this particular accident.it seems that in an accident at this high speed, the airbags should deploy and if this isn't sufficient enough speed for the manufacturer,why do they install the bags in the first place and make the air bag safety feature a big part of the basis for consumers buying a vehicle.

The truck is over charging, causing the truck to produce over 18 volts, and the dome and headlights to flicker on and off (particularly dangerous on a curvy road at night).vehicle has been at dealership for three months.all attemps to correct issue with the assistance of daimlerchrysler have failed.many shops will not take these trucks because this problem seems unresovable.the vehicle is dangerous to drive and unsellable.due to the increasing number of reported vehicles with a similar problem daimlerchrysler has admitted there is a safety issue, but is taking no action to resolve it at this time.

Engine spark knock as a result of a bad plenum gasket.dodge apparently will not fix, unless i come up with $450-$500.i bought the truck used and apparently there was a service bulletin for that particular problem, but i had no idea that it neede to be done.by the way, i bought the truck in jan of 2003 and the bulletin was released in feb of 2003.i would have thought that i would have received a notice in the mail, but did not and now i'm on the hook for the repair.
June 1,2000 (2958ml) engine starts pinging, driver side window thumps when rolling up & down. July 21,2000 (6840ml) engine still pings, knocking sound under vehicle, thumping in window still present , oil pressure falls while driving. July 31,2000 (7509ml) engine still pings, knocking under vehicle still present.left cylinder head cracked, #2 cylinder replaced. Sept. 12,2000 (9420ml) engine still pings, knocking under vehicle still present , oil pressure still falls while driving , thumping in window still present, final repair attempt. Dec. 7,2000(14128ml) had to have crankshaft,rod bearings, main bearings, #4 cylinder rod and piston, oil pump repalced.returned on 12/14/00. Dec. 15,2000 (14169ml) no oil pressure. Had to have oil sending unit, oil pump, & screen replaced..
This truck has had a noise in the engine shortly after i purchased the truck. It has been downhill since then, i casn get all the service reports on file at bill abbott. The truck is now at cummings midwest power co. In bloomington il for anouther problem they have the head off and checking it for a problem also the crankshaft seal leaks oil this isthe second engine in this truck. I would really like to see if i could exchange this truck for a like one as i can't trust this truck . Thank you.glenn thomas.
While driving 75 mph the consumer lost all steering and brake power preceded by a loud noise coming from the engine. The technician serviced the vehicle and replaced the broken engine crankshaft. The engine failed because lubrication failed to reach the front two piston rods.the other six piston rods and bearings showed no lubrication problems.

The main problem with this 2000 ram 2500 4 whdr cummins diesel, quad cab, truck is the chrysler design defective front end. In my case, the trac-bar. This, in my area is a $439.00 plus tax item, the dealer steals another $75.00 plus taxes for installation. Two bolts hold this device in place and is only a 15 min repair. The trouble is in 30,000 km the new trac-bar has failed making it a chore to keep the truck between the lines. You dart all over in your lane depending on the pavement ruts and general pavement condition. I can see this design defect causing added stress and problems to the ball joints.this defect is a chrysler problem and all costs to cover repairs should be covered by the manufacture and not the customer. This, and the other many, dodge front end problems i feel is just cause for a recall order.

I had a recall for trailer hitch, (fixed) had a recall for emissions, ( computer adjustment)after that fuel mileage droped from 13.5 to 8.8.took it to dealer in florida and they said they could not do anything about it.i would like to get it set back to 13 miles per gal.what can be done about this?

After 2555 miles, i started getting a very musty odor coming from my a/c vents. I brought it to closest dealer (massey-yardley). Work done states "check for a leak, evaporator leaking,replace evaporator."at5099 mileage, i went to the dealer because i was still getting a musty odor. I stated i had allergy testing done which came back positive for mold & mildew and i was having health problems due to this condition and could not use my vehicle. This time the dealer cleaned and deoderized the carpet and told me to remove the rubber mats, which i did. There was no moisture under the mats. I do not have pets nor do i smoke, no children. This is a personal vehicle that is not used for work. I am a retired law enforcement officer. The inside and outside of vehicle is always kept immacuately clean. The rubber mats i had bought were of good quality and are afterall, made of inert rubber which did not give off any odor whatsoever. On may 24th i went to the dealer, stated that i have kept the mats out and that it didn't make any difference and i was still getting a musty odor which was making me sick. Dealer sprayed a foaming product manufactured by petro chemical products, inc. Into the drain outlet and also sprayed some condition air automotive refreshener also by that same company. I was also told by the dealer not to use the max a/c setting but to use the outside air which is in contradiction to the instructions in the owner's manual which states, "select max a/c when the outside air contains smoke, odors or high humidity. This feature allows for recirculation of interior air only." two other dealers that i called up to get their opinion on my problem, informed me to spray a can of lysol into the intake (i'm sure the epa would find this a dangerous practice to be inhaling this within a confined area).if chrysler intends for me to use the outside air, in contradiction to the owners manual. Outside air intakes are large enough to suck in insects, etc.
Overdrive module and torque convertor both failed at 59000 miles.had vehicle back to dealer around 34000 for a vibration in the transmission and they stated nothing was wrong, that was the beginning of the torque convertor problem.dodge won't stand behind their products and an automatic transmission should last 150,000 miles or more without a rebuild.

The vehicle certification label has the wrong tire size and inflation pressure on it.it states the truck has p225/75r16 tires with a pressure of 41psi.the truck was manufactured with p245/75r16 tires with a maxpsi of 35.this could result in overinflation of the tires if a person went by the pressure on the label instead of the tires.i have talked with the dealer and they stated they could not correct the problem and that it is common.if that is the case,why does the dot require the information be there?

The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram. While driving 55 mph the hood of the vehicle opened, which impaired his visibility. He was able to safely drive to the emergency lane and temporarily secure the hood in a latched position. A mechanic, upon inspection concluded that the hood latch failed. He was in the process of having the vehicle repaired. The failure and current mileages were 120,000.
While driving 60 mph, hood flew open because secondary latch broke, vehicle at dealership at this time.the secondary hood latch had bent back towards the firewall so that it became totally inoperative, thats when the primary latch failed, the hood opened suddenly with no warning.*yd

The parking brake on this truck has had problems since i purchased the truck.the cable has completely snapped twice, causing the 5-speed black truck to roll into the middle of the street, in the middle of the night, and there it sat all night (we were unaware the cable snapped).the dealer does not know why this keeps happening, and they don't report the problem to the parent company.i, myself, made daimen chrysler open a ticket, but i imagine it's closed now.they only keep them open for a month.the dealer (greg adams) told me this is the only truck that's had this problem, but since he didn't report the problem with my truck, i figure other dealers don't report the problems they see, so who knows?i never know when the brake will snap, and although no one has been hurt yet, it's an accident waiting to happen.i hope that you can look into this problem.thank you.

This is the second truck that almost got me killed, the first was a 1999. No saferty defect listed.

At that time we asked the service representative if there was a recall on the driver side air bag and they said no.i saw on the news about 2 months ago that there was a recall on the 2000 dodge ram quad cab. The abs did not work because we slid about 70 to100 feet.we did go to the place the truck was purchased and told them that the air bags nor did the abs work they had no comment.i want someone to investigate and find out if the service department or the manufacturer is responsible for these things not working.

I had my brakes overhauled and had to have the rotors exchanged because of a defect the manufacturer knew about but failed to notify consumers.the brake rotors are machined to such close tolorances, that they would have to be changed at the first repairs.i have talked to service people whom have had them changed at less than 30 k miles.i feel an recall should be made by the manufacturer or the extra money refunded by the manufacturer.
Excessive wear on rotors that i believe is unsafe and a manufacturers defect - minimum allowable rotor spec is 1.215 - right side is 1.166, left side is 1.164 - original pads still have more than 1/8 inch on each of the 4 pads - i was going to have pads chaged on 7/28 and that is when i was advised that the rotors had to be replaced - i never had a vehicle that wore out the original rotors before the original pads ever wore out - i shoul be able to "true" rotors once or twice before having to replace the rotors as long as the pads do not wear out before replacing same - manufacturer will do nothing - claims that the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty is their total responsibility in this matter - i disagree.

The main problem with this 2000 ram 2500 4 whdr cummins diesel, quad cab, truck is the chrysler design defective front end. In my case, the trac-bar. This, in my area is a $439.00 plus tax item, the dealer steals another $75.00 plus taxes for installation. Two bolts hold this device in place and is only a 15 min repair. The trouble is in 30,000 km the new trac-bar has failed making it a chore to keep the truck between the lines. You dart all over in your lane depending on the pavement ruts and general pavement condition. I can see this design defect causing added stress and problems to the ball joints.this defect is a chrysler problem and all costs to cover repairs should be covered by the manufacture and not the customer. This, and the other many, dodge front end problems i feel is just cause for a recall order.

My wife was driving our 2000 dodge dakota quad cab in a parking lot when the lower driver side ball joint failed causing a crash into a concrete pole at the driver side door.there were no unusual noises before the failure and the upper ball joints had been replaced this year as part of the recall on all dakotas.this caused my wife to hit her head on the driver side window on impact.
Nhtsa recall campaign 04v596000; daimler chrysler issued a front upper ball joint recall. This vehicle was not included in the recall, but had the upper ball joints making a clicking noise, which sounded like they were going to fall off.

I installed tire chains on my vehicle as permitted in the owners manual.a link on the chain broke because it was rubbing against the leaf springs of the vehicle.the space between the inside of the tire and the outside edge of the leaf springs is approximately 1 inch.this is insufficient to safely run chains on the vehicle.when the chains failed - if they had wrapped around the axle it very likely could have caused the vehicle to become uncontrollable.the manufacturer has referred me to the selling dealer.the selling dealer said they cannot get any guidance from the manufacturer.the selling dealer offered that i use cable chains instead.i bought a set of these and they, too, don't fit without rubbing the leaf springs.the dealer also said that they would honor the warranty if i purchased wheels with more offset (move the centerline of the wheel outboard of the vehicle) but they cannot offer a recommendation from dodge for an amount of offset.followups to dodge have proven fruitless.i am running factory original tires and chains that are sized to fit those tires.

Trailer hitch is cracked.ifcarrying a boat or trailer and it pops off there would be a huge accident.when contactingdealer,he told consumer thatvehicle was not covered under recall 00 v 07 000.please provide any further information.
1.body jumps at different speeds unable to steere.2.odometer reading didn't move for approx- 1st 200 miles.3.engine knocks. 4. Shifting linkage and gears grind. 5. Transmission slips and front axle grinds. 6.salesman said i was approved and did qualify for any vehicle in the lot with $10,000.00 down.called finance company after purchase and was approved for the vehicle i originally wanted.7.brakes need to be replaced all the way around. Engine spark knock as a result of a bad plenum gasket.dodge apparently will not fix, unless i come up with $450-$500.i bought the truck used and apparently there was a service bulletin for that particular problem, but i had no idea that it neede to be done.by the way, i bought the truck in jan of 2003 and the bulletin was released in feb of 2003.i would have thought that i would have received a notice in the mail, but did not and now i'm on the hook for the repair.

Cruise control engages at any given time.dealer noticed transmission sending unit cable got loose.consumer states most common scenario is cruise control being set at speed,then being cancelled by consumer either by cancel button or by braking, cruise will then reengage at set speed.
After the vehicle is turned on engine surges, causing the forward movement of approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches.also,a "grinding noise" coming from the rear ofvehicle during normal operation. Dealership recommended use of a special synthetic oil and performing a series of maneuvers in a parking lot to loosen the clutch.please provide any additional information / documentation.

This happens anytime when either stopping or starting off.air conditioner and heater are inoperable.vibration is felt at 48-60 mph.dealer replaced engine, however problem is still present, dealer told consumer to use 30 weight oil, consumer wants dealer to buy back vehicle, he feels he has a lemon.
Rear view mirroris not reliable enough to helpconsumer to back up or change lanes.consumer has already hit a tree, and almost hit other vehicles when changing lanes.consumer has contactedemissons control department, and they said they have received numerous complaints onsame issue.objects in rear mirror are closer than they appear.

June 1,2000 (2958ml) engine starts pinging, driver side window thumps when rolling up & down. July 21,2000 (6840ml) engine still pings, knocking sound under vehicle, thumping in window still present , oil pressure falls while driving. July 31,2000 (7509ml) engine still pings, knocking under vehicle still present.left cylinder head cracked, #2 cylinder replaced. Sept. 12,2000 (9420ml) engine still pings, knocking under vehicle still present , oil pressure still falls while driving , thumping in window still present, final repair attempt. Dec. 7,2000(14128ml) had to have crankshaft,rod bearings, main bearings, #4 cylinder rod and piston, oil pump repalced.returned on 12/14/00. Dec. 15,2000 (14169ml) no oil pressure. Had to have oil sending unit, oil pump, & screen replaced..
The placement and size of the driver-side and passenger-side door window along with the position of the driver seat in the rear position limits visibility to the point of creating a hazard.average-sized (and larger) drivers must lean forward while sitting in the seat to see out before pulling into traffic.a number of complaints and near-miss collisions due to reduced visibility have been reported to the safety office by maintenance workers assigned to subject vans.a preliminary investigation by safety officials has been completed; alleged conditions are founded.request further investigation and coordination with consumer product safety commission.please advise.
Left, front hub bearing failed, without warning, resulting in near accident. Damaged left, front hub bearing assembly, spindle, brake caliper, brake rotor, brake pads, abs brake sensor, and tire. The brake caliper was the only thing that kept the wheel from coming off. This part is not serviceable and on page 214 of the owner's manual it is stated "front whell bearings for all dodge ram trucks are sealed-for-life. They do not require greasing or seal replacement." this is a very unexpected and costly experience that could not have been prevented with regular maintence because it is a hidden problem within a part that is "sealed-for-life". There are many of these trucks on the highways that may be encountering this same potential problem. Thank you.
