On april 12 i was involved in an accident in which i rearended a car in front of me.approximate speed was 20 mph. There is extensive front end damage and the back window of the blazer in front of us busted out, but neither the driver or passenger side airbags in my truck deployed.

This is the third airbag failure i have reported to this agency.all of these vehicle's whose air bag failed were late model sport utility vehicles of pick up trucks.each vehicle was involved in a right angle collision at speeds of 45+ mph.each vehicle sustained severe contact damage to the entire front end.in each case the air bags did not deploy.i am employed as an accident reconstructionist for the scottsdale police department in scottsdale arizona.please feel free to contact me with any questions which you may have.

The consumer's vehicle was traveling 55 mph when another vehicle hit it head on.upon impact, the airbags did not deploy.the driver sustained injuries, and was transported by her mother to a hospital.the vehicle was towed and totaled by the insurance.*sc

When truck was hit by a bronco, bronco travelng about 50 mph, on the passenger's front side, there was no deployment of the air bag. Also, the driver's or passenger's side seat belt did not lock causing injuries to driver and passenger.

On january 8, 2000, i was a passenger in a 1999 dodge ram pickup westbound on interstate 44 near milemarker 274 in missouri.a fenton fire department pumper truck cut from the center lane across the passing lane (which we were in) and tried to get onto the shoulder.this maneuver was done without any emergency lights, sirens, turn signals, etc.we had approx. 2 seconds to react and the driver only had time to slam on the brakes.we hit the right rear corner of the fire truck where it protruded into the passing lane at approx 50 mph.the dodge pickup we were in was totalled per safeco insurace company.seatbelts saved our lives, but we were injured much worse than we would have been if the airbags had gone off.neither airbag deployed during the accident.the airbags remained undeployed up until the vehicle was last seen on 1-13-2000.dodge clearly made a defective product if a crash of this magnitude did not set off either airbag.i have pictures of the dodge, and can e-mailthem if requested.the ambulance report also documents the non-deployment.this needs looked into.the odds of evenone airbag not going off in a crash this hard must be astronomical, but for both to not go off, something was seriously wrong.

Was traveling 45-50mph & would applybrakes, and they would lock up. Rear abs brakes do not work properly. Rear ended another vehicle.air bags failed to deploy due to a lack of brakes. Vehicle slide 100 ft before the impact happened. There were no injuries.

I was in an auto accident where i rear ended a tractor trailer.i was traveling 70mph and the tractor trailer 55mph.i hit the truck exactly perpendicular and the front of my truck was crushed in about 2 feet.the frame was severly damaged and had to be replaced.i am filing this because the body shop highly recommended we take action.he said the area where the sensors for the airbags are located was mangled and that the airbags should have deployed.the airbag system was checked by john keltner (lic. # 35844).his remarks were that the system test was performed and no problems were found at this time and no repairs were needed.i am aware of some recalls with dodge and wanted to be sure the airbag systems would be covered.thank you for your help.

Horn wll not work unless pushed with excessive effort when it is cold or in justtheright spot at other times.

Horn is not working properly. Took to dealer, and dealer indicated has to push with finger tip at a certain spot on steering wheel for horn to blow. If used force with palm of hand horn will not blow.

Brake problems; consumer took vehicle to dealer 4 times, but dealer couldn't findcause.when applying brakes pedal went down tofloorboard,but therewas no braking action. Accident occurred with $4100 damage. Consumer states that the horn is not working properly.

The horn is defective. This truck is manual shift. There are two problems. 1st, it is impossible to locate the horn because of the placement of the airbag.it requires numerous hard pushes to figure out where it is. A less than what i would estimate to be a 5 pounds of pressure will not make the horn sound.i have tried to use the horn on at least three incidences and was unable to make the horn sound. In a non-emergent situation (sitting at a light) i was able to sound the horn after substantial pressure. 2nd : in emergent avoidance situation (3 times) you can not sound the horn and downshift at the same time. Because of the design of the steering wheel on the left side, and the placement of the cruise control, my left hand can not reach the horn without turning loose of the steering wheel. That leave no hands on the wheel because the right hand is trying to downshift.this is an extremely dangerous situation where the component part requires that there be no hands on the steering wheel.i would like this addressed immediately. I am female, 5'7" 135 pounds. I do not have a wide enough span in my hand to be able to hold on to the steering wheel with four fingers while my thumb tries to reach the horn. It is physically impossible. That takes you back to problem number 1.

I purchased my truck brand new in nov. Of 1998 with approx. 10 miles on it. After about 6 months of ownership, we started having problems with the truck quitting for no apparent reason. We have taken the truck into several different dealerships for the same problem over the past 2 years, and each time the vehicle was sent home with us unfixed, telling us that they could not get the truck to duplicate the problem. The problem with thisis that the problem is intermitent. It may quit today, and not again for 2 months, or it may quit today and again tomorrow. We have had the truck in approx. 6-8 times since we purchased it brand new for the same problem, yet unfixed every single time. The truck has had to be towed to a dealership 3x as it quit and wouldn't restart. When the truck quits, the engine simply quits and everything shuts off and the steering wheel locks up. You have no steering control what-so-ever. When it quits, sometimes the truck restarts after about 5 minutes, others times it doesn't restart. As i stated, we have had to have it towed 3x as it wouldn't restart. I am very frustrated at this point. I have called chrysler and complained everytime the truck has cut out. They gave me a file number and simply take the complaint again, thats all they do. I have requested for a chrysler rep. Help the service tech. Solve the problem, my request was denied. I have begged for someone from chrysler assist the dealership in finding the problem, no one came out. I wrote them a certified mail letter explaining to them the seriousness of this problem after my wife and i were traveling back from ga after i had graduated from a military school and we almost killed on the interestate because the truck cut out going 65 miles per hour. I vered the truck to the left side of the median on the interstate which is the only place for me to go. Thank god there was not a dip in the median or i am afraid i would not be sitting here today writing this letter to you.please help me!!!!

Consumer received recall 00v135 and set up an appointment for repairs for this recall plus two prior recalls, consumer is angry because dealer stated that no parts were available for the blower motor relay even though an appointment had been made, none of the recalls have been completed.

While placing the key inside of the ignition switch vehicledid not start consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, andmechanicdeterminedthatignition switch needed to be replaced due to worn out parts.

There are two points where there are holes inback ofsteering wheel.if you have a long key on you key chain, it can become lodged in the holes and prevent you from turning the vehicle.there needs to be some type of plug in these holes to prevent this from rand possibly causing an accident.

There was a electrical fire from the power dispersement box under the hood , which the wiring harness melted. The vehicle is still at the dealer awaiting parts. I feel this is a saftey hazard but the dealer is already giving me a hard time about it.

Ignition fuse link keeps blowing out, causingvehicle to shut down. Vehicle has beenin two accidents because of this condition . Vehicle hasbeen at repair shop on three occasions, and problemstill occurs. Can nhtsa help or provide additional information on this matter.

This circuit controls radio mirrors and cargo lights.took truck to dealer, they replaced right door switch.2nd incident was oct. 24th.this time though, fuse didn't blow and wire harness caught on fire and melted.this was also the very same circuit(#12). Took truck back to dealer, they had it for a week and replace wire harness.3rd incident was nov. 10th, fuse #12 blew again.tried to replace fuse and it blew again. Truck is currently at the dealer and they can't find the short as of the time of this complaint.

Truck caught fire in middle of night apparently due to some sort of electrical short.truck was totally engulfed and was a total loss as well as everything around it.chrysler said that they could not see anything that would permit them to associate the fire with a manufacturing or assembly error, and that they are sure that we can appreciate that fires of this nature do occur for reasons not associated with the manufacturing process!well, please tell me why they have had so many fires of their vehicles and alot of them seem to be with the wiring, and yet they are not accountable.my mother and my son could have easily been killed in this fire, so i am just to assume that chrysler is going to do nothing until they have alot of dead bodies on their hands, as with ford? i have alot of trouble with this picture!

While driving the vehicle engine died out, lost oil pressure.took the vehicle to thedealer and they refuse to work on the vehicle as a warranty, due to the build up of sludge in the engine. Dealer will only replace the engine if the consumer pays the amount of$5,000.ph

The oil dip stick does not accurately read, the oil can be low without proper indentification of the problem. *mjs

Every two monthsbrake pads have to be replaced.calipers have been replaced once and will have to be replaced again.also, master cylinder has been replaced once.in addition,truck overheats.dealer is not able to find out what is causing the overheating problem.*ml

Loss of antifreeze.

I have had my vehicle back to the dealer for service several times due to coolant loss and odor in cab. They said, on at least two of the occasions, that they do not see a problem. On one occasion they did replace the thermostat but the problem persisted. Now the check engine light came on and the service dept says its the "intake manifold gasket". I asked if it was under warranty and was told no. I asked if the loss of coolant was due to this gasket failure they stated that the gasket had nothing to do with the cooling system.? i asked a friend of mine if the gasket defect could be the reason for the coolant loss and he advised me, most definitly. Needless to say, i needed the truck fixed, so i paid for the repair. Low and behold i'm still losing coolant.

When driving above 40mph, engine would start to make a pinging & knocking sound. The noise would be loud. Took to dealer & was informed by mechanic the problem was not fixable. Need to use regular gas.vehicle been to dealers 12 times or more for same problem.

Crankshaft,traded for another truck

The vehicles engine bolt loosened and a screeching noise was produced.the dealer was notified. *nlm all 20 valve cover bolts had loosened.they loosened an additional two times after properly torqued.loosened valve cover bolts caused oil to leak out of engine.

The engine bloc developed a crack.

The oil dip stick does not accurately read, the oil can be low without proper indentification of the problem. *mjsupdated 04/23/07.

Vehicle is leaking oil.in a monthvehicle had to be filled with 9 quarts of oil. Tookvehicle todealer ,anddealer noted that gasket on had blowen. Please provide more information.

Excessive loss of engine coolant; one quart is lost every 700 miles.vehicle has been tothree dealers, but problemstill occurs.*ml

Replacement of intake gasket/ catalytic converter has gone bad/ tie rod went bad.mrthe consumer experienced some belt squealing in the engine compartment.the belt was replaced under warranty. The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer because of an engine noise. The tires were discovered to be worn.

While applying brakes at any speed and without warning vehicle will pull toleft until release of brake pedal.consumer states vehicle will pull to the left when braking and will drift to the right on freeway and brakes are squeaky when braking on stop, dealer replaced calipers, turned rotors and changed brakes, dealer found steering wheel off center, dealer has replaced upper and lower control arms, dealer has adjusted the front end and replaced the rims and tires, vehicle experiences lack of power and engine light has illuminated,vehicle idles high and is experiencing poor fuel economy, when driving on freeway it gets max of 14.5 mpg, smoke also comes out of the exhaust, left side electric mirror glass had fogged,left seat bottom loose, one missing bolt found,left seat trim bezel keeps miming loose won?t stay in seat for seat belt on seat back. Dealer stated that the 2002 models do not have vibration problems due to the suspension being changed to independent.*yd

Intermittently vehicle will accelerate suddenly and then stall out and die without warning.dealer has not been able to duplicate or correct problem.consumer stated the vehicle has been into dealer at least 5 times.

While driving 65 mphand without prior noticeengine started knocking.then, vehicle stalled. Towed dealer who found there was hardly any oil in engine, and it had seized. Dealer stated there were 103 consumers on list for an engine of this type. Oil light had not come on, not did consumer notice a prior leak.please add additional information.

Spark knock which they tell me is normal and there is nothing i can do about it ,but it is so loud i can hear it over the radio at moderate level,contact factory and they state this normal,now my truck is out of warranty

Engine was making a loud knocking and tapping noise.it was affecting themileage/ fuel economy.vehicle was taken to the dealer 4 times, anddealer claimed that theydidn't know how to fix it.

Consumer was driving at 40-45 mph when suddenly motor froze, and vehicle started to pull to left/ lost all steering capability/hit a concrete divider ,and then vehicle rolled over . Consumer noticed that of one of screws that held power steering to frame fell off, and it got stuck between wheel and frame which contributed to crash,causing injuries.

Was told by dealer several of the same year make and models have been brought in with the same problem. No safety defect listed.

When accelerating engine pings-particulary on hills at higher speeds/second time they suggested it was fuel quality and on last complaint they attempted to decarbonize engine.and suggest using fuel additive at every 3 thousand miles- also stated that this sparkplug knock would not harm engine- garden city dode mi. Was very nice and admitted that this problem has accured on other vehicles. I drove over scrap metal road debris at night.it bounced up and slashed a 2 foot gash in the soft cell fuel tank, which protrudes at least 3 inches below the chassis frame.tank was nearly full and all fuel leaked out.luckily, there was no fire.vehicle was rendered inoperable and had to be towed to dealer for repairs.i believe this is a bad design to have a soft cell fuel tank exposed as it is on this truck.there should be some sort of metal frame or box around the fuel tank to prevent punture from road debris.there is nothing to prevent this from happening again and possibly causing a fire.

It's been driving without problems, but all of a sudden, the check engine light came up.computer diagnostic told a problem on transmission/speed checking sensor.upon further check at the repair shop, they found a lot of small metal debris around the speed checking sensor inside the transmission.now transmission needs to be replaced.

This 1999 dodge ram was sold to me by ozark dodge in ozark, mo.this vehicle is a replacement for a 2001 that was a mechanical disaster.i had asked when i decided to accept their offer on the 1999 that they would do the following: change all fluids, alignment,and thoroughly go through this truck.3 mos after the initial purchase i began having transmission problems. The transmission would slip and hunt for gears.i took it to aurora dodge in aurora, mo. For the warranty repairs and they told me all repairs had been completed. At 14000 miles the rear end was making grinding sounds, dealer replased berings,shims and seals with a flush job. Now at 56000 the rear end is doing the same, the now tell me that the side and pinion berings seals and shims are bad. This is not right that i should have to pay for this. I have not toed or have had any extra heavy load in the truck. At my milage the truck is hardly broken in, i drove my chevrolet and ford truck both 1/2 tons well over 200k miles and never a problem with the rear end. This one the dodge ram 2500 diesel in less then 60k the rear end goes two times. The other problems i had i did not make a big stink about them i was told that the truck was out of warranty. So i kept my mouth shut, but this rear end problem is the straw that broke the camels back. I work for a living i don't have money to throw in the wind, this is the problem of the manufacturer, they are the one that should pay for crapy manufacturing. Lap belts do not come across lap. Belts ride high on abdomen. Can cause serious problms if accident happens. Also, shoulder belts cut too close to neck & jaw line area. Will be taking to dealer to be corrected.

On january 8, 2000, i was a passenger in a 1999 dodge ram pickup westbound on interstate 44 near milemarker 274 in missouri.a fenton fire department pumper truck cut from the center lane across the passing lane (which we were in) and tried to get onto the shoulder.this maneuver was done without any emergency lights, sirens, turn signals, etc.we had approx. 2 seconds to react and the driver only had time to slam on the brakes.we hit the right rear corner of the fire truck where it protruded into the passing lane at approx 50 mph.the dodge pickup we were in was totalled per safeco insurace company.seatbelts saved our lives, but we were injured much worse than we would have been if the airbags had gone off.neither airbag deployed during the accident.the airbags remained undeployed up until the vehicle was last seen on 1-13-2000.dodge clearly made a defective product if a crash of this magnitude did not set off either airbag.i have pictures of the dodge, and can e-mailthem if requested.the ambulance report also documents the non-deployment.this needs looked into.the odds of evenone airbag not going off in a crash this hard must be astronomical, but for both to not go off, something was seriously wrong.

Truck hard to stop, dealer cannot solve consistant brake noise after 2 attemps, i put aftermarket pads on, still did not solve the noise problem. Wrote chrysler corp. And explained what had been done, they issued a customer care # and told me that my truck was to receive special attention by the service department and try to fix my problem. Whentruck was in, dealer contacted star hotline, once seeing aftermarket pads on truck, chrysler corp. Refused any furthrer repair. Never mind the dealer has already made two attemps, i made an attemp, and problem still persists and truck has a 3/36,000 mile warrenty.

At random times when brakes are applied they surge radically and make the truck shutter. In the course of a day it can happen zero to fifteen times, it usually happens every day. Excessive wear of brake pads; at 20,000 miles, dealer turned front rotors and replaced pads at consumer's cost. Prolem continued to reoccur a 24,700 miles, 51,209 miles and at 58,000 miles. Brakes pads were replaced.

Front passenger side/outer side brake pads wear excessivley down to the metal. Dealer notified and informedconsumer that was normal wear. Seeking additional information on this matter from nhtsa.

The back hubs needed to be replaced at 3600 miles, and then the front pads needed to be replaced at 20,000.

Brakes made terrible squeaking sounds, a technician stated that the brakes were installed incorrectly at the factory, the rotors in the rear were cracked, however the front brakes were not in need of repair.

Rear drum brakes driver side self adjusted into the drum causing the brakes to wear down very quickly to the metal surface. On inspection the adjuster mechanism looked fine. Right side rear brakes looked fine. Inspection 3 months ago was fine. At the time of the failure vehicle was towing a travel trailer.in my 35 years of driving i have never seen brake system do this type of failure. Brake system are far too crucial just to pass this off as a fluke (quoting the dealership ).

The brakes have been pulling to either the left or the right when stopping.this happens at all speeds but is always worse at higher speeds or when loaded.they have replaced the pads three times, roters twice and have aligned the rear wheels, and the problem continues to be the same.the brakes are sluggish and when stopping quickly causes severe pulling and seems to not stop as quickly as could be.

Purchased truck with in one month and had to replace rear brakes and drums and shoes severe wear.plus air bags not deploying on front impact totalling vehicle.

I do not have exact mileage intrevals but the rear brake drums have had to be cut twice already and need it again. The truck just turned 44000 miles and is not used for work or heavy hauling. Normal driving has caused this problem which i feel should not happen. Since this is the third time the drums are out of round, i have to buy new drums as they can only be cut down a couple times and keep their safe thickness. Not only is this a costly item but a very unsafe condition as the rear brake shoes are not in contact with the drums as they should be, and the truck jerks and jolts when the brakes are applied due to uneven braking surfaces.

This vehicle has a severe steering defect, i have gone to arbitraion and daimlerchrysler has sent a independent ase inspector to look at my truck this person agrees there is something wrong. I had been award a new truck by arbitration but it would had cost me 7,000 plus a new loan, the truck is defective and now the dealership will not work on the problem even though it is still under warrenty. Steering mechanism in the extended cabs and quad cabs is defective, causing the vehicle to wander, and resulting in loss ofcontrol. Dealers are aware of defect but cannot determine what is causing the problem.

Transmission: dodges computer controls the torque converter for emissions and for gas mileage.after following dodges spects on service for the truck and no abuse to the truck we still loss the torque converter which than destroyed the transmission. Steering: at 30000 miles the seals in the steering gear box went out. At 81000 after repair earlier the shaft and seal went out and the gear box had to be replaced. Both problem we have been told are problem dodge will not take responsibilty for but happen with most of this models trucks.

This vehicle since new has had continuing braking and steering pulls, is extremely unstable and uncomfortable to drive. While holding steering wheel straight vehicle will be undecided about whether to drift left or right, and even after several attempts by the dealer which include two seperate full weeks of time at the dealership, plus three days of work by the factory field rep. And a few other attempts, the vehicle is still drifting and pulling on braking. The first attempt i was told that nothing was wrong with the vehicle, all the way to the time prior to the factory rep. Working on it actually written on my repair order "keith we have aligned your rig till the cows come home, we never did experience a brake pull at any time. I did have the tech. Drive the vehicle home overnight. I think it will do what you want, if any further alignment needed you can do in your shop and set it how you want." upon reciept of the vehicle it responded exactly the same. After the factory rep. Worked on it i spoke with him on the phone on tuesday 10-12-1999, and he said "i think it's good enough but i'd like to keep it another day and swap tires, and maybe even brake lining, to see if it will make a difference." he also stated that upon initial braking the vehicle wanted to go left but seemed to track pretty well. Clearly not stating "it's fixed" but rather showing that even he was not satisfied with the "repairs". Upon reciept of the vehicle this last time i drove approximately 1 mile to the first stop sign and upon braking vehicle pulled left. I immediately turned around and went back to the dealer hoping to talk to kevin the owner, whom i had already spoken to but he was not in at that time. I am still waiting to hear from him.

There are two points where there are holes inback ofsteering wheel.if you have a long key on you key chain, it can become lodged in the holes and prevent you from turning the vehicle.there needs to be some type of plug in these holes to prevent this from rand possibly causing an accident.

The steering box was defective on the new vehicle as evidenced by constant correction being required while driving. The amount of correction becomes greater as road conditions become bumpier. The steering box was replaced with a new box with a 10% improvement. The dealer has acknowledged that this has happened to other 99 dodge trucks. They are unable to decide what to do while waiting for word from the factory. I consider this a big safety issue as you could easily lose control if you had to swerve to avoid another vehicle or pedestrian.

While drivingat any speed vehicle wanders to the left or right.driver is constantly fighting with the steering wheel to keep the truck on the road.truck was taken to four or five dealerships, and dealers were not able to correct this problem.also,steering box was changed, a chime was put in the right front wheel, and some wheel aliginment was done.but none of this corrected the problem.

The steering has excessive play,and feels uncontrolable.i took it in to the dealer & they said there was nothing wrong. I then drove it for a short time& felt there was still a problem. I took it inagain, & they replaced the steering gear box. Upon picking up the truck,i found it to be no better than it was prior to the gear box replacement. I contacted the dealer the next day, & they came to my residence& picked up the truck. The service manager told me that they checked it out,& it was ok. He also stated that he called the chrysler "star" line for tech support, & they advised him thatall the trucks handled this way . I was not satisfied with that reply, & contacted chrysler's customer service dept on 4-12-99 & filed a complaint( # 5680042). I did not get any responseafter2 weeks,and iagain calledchrysleron 4-26-99. At that time arrangements were made to have the district service rep look at the truck. On 5-5-99 the district service rep(reggie sanders ) drove my truck & advised me that it handled "normal" for that vehicle. I find this unacceptable,and feel that the handling of this vehicle is unsafe, & could cause loss of control. This truck was purchasedfor the purpose of towing a trailer, (it has a factory installed tow package) and ifeel i can not safley do this.this conditionis present with & withouta trailer. At this point i am contacting you for help with this matter .

Consumer was driving at 40-45 mph when suddenly motor froze, and vehicle started to pull to left/ lost all steering capability/hit a concrete divider ,and then vehicle rolled over . Consumer noticed that of one of screws that held power steering to frame fell off, and it got stuck between wheel and frame which contributed to crash,causing injuries.

Going around corner & vehicle kept straight. Had no steering control. Could turn left, but not right. At dealer, was informed needed steering pump, but it was on back order.

The power steering fluid was leaking and the power steering pump was replaced.

Consumer saw a puddle of steering fluid onground.independent repair shop replaced steering pump seal. This was the second time seal had to be replaced since purchase.

Replacement of intake gasket/ catalytic converter has gone bad/ tie rod went bad.mrthe consumer experienced some belt squealing in the engine compartment.the belt was replaced under warranty. The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer because of an engine noise. The tires were discovered to be worn.

Vehicle's dash has cracked in numerous places (10+) some surrounding the passenger airbag.in an accident the airbag could be damaged or cut by the dash failures.in a worse case, parts of the dash could impale the passenger or driver in an accident.

The vehicle was not equipped with and undercarriage shield.the consumer felt the absence of the shield caused corrosion of many components under the hood.the front shock washer which held the shock assembly in place corroded,the fuel rail corroded and the manifold corroded.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicatedthat there was no such part for the truck and if he installed one the trucks warranty would be void.*nlm

Crack in dash panel started about aug 2009, it has now became a full blow mess as large pieces have fallen into the wiring harness inside the dash. This could be a hazard if you roll down the window and some smaller pieces fly up into your face, or could set on wires and catch fire. I know of at least two other 1500's that are 98 and 2000 models doing the same thing as mine.

I noticed a very small crack on the passenger side dash, by the door, last summer and didn't think much of it.now it is completely cracked, front to back, to the middle of the passenger seat.

Right side of the dashboard was removed to repair the air conditioning.dealership denied the problem, and agreed to repair it for 50% of the cost. Dealership caused the defect.the dashboard started cracking around in march/april 2004.the vehicle was taken to the dealer but they indicated that the cracking was not there fault. The crack initially started on the passenger side near the screws by the windshield now there are several cracks on both sides of the dash.

Consumer states vehicle has been brought in 2 times for the door locks.

Upon attempting to enter the rear seat, passenger struck his head on the rear door latching mechanism, causing a head injury/detached retina.door latch is a u-bolt that extends down from upper door jam.

Dt: the consumer states that 1999 dodge ram had a hood latch problem. The latch rusted and flew up while driving and cracked the windshield. The hood is now one sided and mashed. The windshield and the hood will have to be replaced. The consumer has been on the phone with chrysler, andvehicle did not fall under the recall. Chrysler will not look at latch because it was after the recall date.the consumer was26 days pastthe recall date and there was no accident because of it. The consumer took the truck to the dealer, and they told her that the latch was rusted. The consumer was going to have this repaired. The speed was5-10mph.

The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram. While the vehicle wasparked the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed the front drivers side frame was extremely corroded. The contact stated the steering box, sway bar, pitman arm, spring and shock assembly, andbumper were all connected to the section of the frame that was corroded.the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

When driving 55mph on freeway truck vibrates so badly you get a headache. Two different dealer's service depts. Say it is a problem with 99's and there is no fix. An outside expert got headache, and said truck is not driveable. Apparently, 1 in 5 customers came back with this same complaint. The dealers just told them thats the way it is. Do a test on concrete freeway on these trucks and you'll see for yourself. Apparently, chrysler is not admitting there is a problem because they don't want a recall. The people who do come back and complain, the dealer send a guy to drive with the customer to convince them that it is normal and that's the way it is.i know all this because my husband is a mechanic (25 years) and he knows a couple of mechanics at chrysler.

I have had this truck into the dealer 6-7 time for this problem.it pulls to the right on all highways.very uncomfortable to drive for a long distance.they have tried numerous tsb but to no help.they say must be the roads,no way,i driven on interstate highways and local roads, doesn't make and difference.

The track bar wore out prematurely.

When braking under normal circumstances truck pulled to the left or right. While driving vehicle at 65 mph, consumer had to make a sudden / emergency stop. The brakes failed to grab. Stopping distance was extended. Took vehicle to dealer & the mechanic had the rear shoes/ rotors and pads replaced. The pads were glazed over. Brakes had faded out at 35 mph.the vehicle would drift from left to right.had steering gear box replaced & wheels realigned. The computer systems failed to register correct gas mileage per gallon. Brakes still do not function properly.

The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer because of an engine noise. The tires were discovered to be worn.

We currently have 16,637 mile on our 1999 dodge ram van. In recent weeks we notice that the front and rear tires were worn down to the radial bar. In addition, there are several air bumps forming on all four tires. Withe recent firestone and ford problems, i took the van to merchants tire and auto where i normally do business. They informed me that the tires were shot, are a saftey concern and should be replaced. I then took the van to tire warehouse to get a second opion on the tires. Again, i was told that the tires were in very bad condition and should be replaced as soon as possible. I called the goodyear 800 number to request my rights and in what direction i should go, but i was only given the run-around and switched brom operator to operator. My concern with this tire is that on the side of the tire it states that it has a max weight of 2,293 pounds. Given that the van is a half ton, and has added after market conversion package, it is possible that the weight exceeds the limit. I asked dodge about this concern, since they sell the conversion van, and i was told that it is possible that the tires do not meet the current weight of the total van package. My question is, are there other reported incedents with this tire and vans, or with this tire in genereal. Also, do i have a legal recourse against either dodge or goodyear to pursue in order to get my tires replaced before an accident . I use the van as my primary source of transportation and i transport my teenage kids and sometimes their friends, on a daily basis. Thank you for any cooperation in this matter. In forcing the t he wheels onto the rotor, the lugs appeared to be damaged.they also told me that an inordinate amount of weights had to be used to try to balance the wheels. I believe that this can be a problem and since this is all original equipment, i believe dodge should take responsibility. Dealership failed to install the reinforcement brackets as stated in the trailer hitch recall 00v107000, but told the consumer they did.upon inspection of the vehicle by the consumer hedetermined that nothing was installed, and took the vehicle back to the manufacturer, and brought the issue to their attention. Then,dealership replaced the part, but gave no reasonwhy the part wasn't replaced the firsttime as they had indicated.

Recall 00v107000/trailer hitch bracket:dealer rfused to honor recall because consumer did not buy the vehicle from them.

While driving truck began to lose power. Engine light illuminated.

I have had my vehicle back to the dealer for service several times due to coolant loss and odor in cab. They said, on at least two of the occasions, that they do not see a problem. On one occasion they did replace the thermostat but the problem persisted. Now the check engine light came on and the service dept says its the "intake manifold gasket". I asked if it was under warranty and was told no. I asked if the loss of coolant was due to this gasket failure they stated that the gasket had nothing to do with the cooling system.? i asked a friend of mine if the gasket defect could be the reason for the coolant loss and he advised me, most definitly. Needless to say, i needed the truck fixed, so i paid for the repair. Low and behold i'm still losing coolant.

The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram.the contact noticed fine line fractures in the dashboard of the vehicle.she went to lightly wipe down the dashboard and a huge chunk of it came apart.the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and referred her to the dealer.the dealer stated that it would cost $90 to have the vehicle diagnosed.the failure mileage was 80,000 and current mileage was 115,000.

Transmission: failed "fixed" at luther motors bishop ca. (by addind oil???) failed again40 miles later. Brought back to luther mototr aganst our wishes, was there for 6 more days. Problem un resolved. Was towed to vacaville dodge ca. Recieved major job. Problems with the transmission continued (still ran but slipped and destabilized up hills, turnes ,and going in parking. App. 5000 miles later the engune" check light stayed on. Was towed to lithia dodge in concord ca for repairs. Some transmission broblems still exists.

Truck shook for no real reason replaced tracking bar than shock stabliser . And was told to take to dealership to see if they could help us financially fix this. We did they said they would except $200. I said ok fix the problem then they called back and said since somebody else had put parts on it they would not fix it. I told them that before they started. So go figure. I consider this a safety issue just because of it down shifting in traffic alone but to no avail

Heater core blewout,causing coolant to leak. Dealer has been notified.

The blend air door broke.this caused the defroster and heater to cycle hot and cold which fogged up the window while driving.when this occurred the drivers visibility was reduced.*nlm

On april 12 i was involved in an accident in which i rearended a car in front of me.approximate speed was 20 mph. There is extensive front end damage and the back window of the blazer in front of us busted out, but neither the driver or passenger side airbags in my truck deployed.
