Since recall 875 was installed on july 27 by providence dodge in quarryville, this vehicle has been inoperable.within tree days of the recall installation, the car would not start with out a jump.then, if the ignition was turned off, the batteries would drain so much within a few hours that the truck would not start without another jump.providence disconnected a wire to the "d-cellerator" exhaust brake on september 26, 2000.within hours of my return home, the batteries were again drained.i had new batteries installed.within hours the batteries were again drained.on october 25, 2000, lancaster dodge inspected the installation as reported "checked recall installation, all looked good at this time.reinstalled fuse that the custormer removed and check blower motor operation.no problems found.check for ign off draw.found high off draw.checl.

Prior to recall notification (00v135000) consumer experienced stalling, intermittent fan motor failure and problems with the radio, which all contributed to the ignition switch being faulty and therefore was replaced, consumer is seeking reimbursement.

Ingnition harness replaced under recall vehicle has had numerous electrical related faliures.headlight switch melted in dash 2x's causing smoke and or fire condition.a/c failure, no power to compressor.bucking, missing, hesitation at idle and all speeds. I have contacted dodge regarding this failure, are tech or safety bulletins being generated, are others reporting the failure? ram diesel model failure mode allows starter to remain engaged and engine running with vehicle key in the off position. After diagnosing and failure analysis it is apparent that this failure mode is not only common (input from various websites) but also extremely dangerous in my opinion. While the root cause (starter failure) is acceptable and understandable with age of the vehicle, the symptom and effect is not. Internal shorting of the starter causes 12vdc feedback through the control circuit and allows the starter to remain engaged and vehicle to remain running wit the key on!. If lucky enough to react to the failure in time prior to components and wiring burning up and melting, you must get under the hood to disconnect "2" batteries, or climb under the vehicle to hit the starter to shut down engine and disengage starter, either again while the vehicle is running with the key off and start engaged in flywheel, if the vehicle were to jump in gear (std transmission) bodily injury would certainly take place. After my first failure the dealer replaced the damaged components at a cost of >$700 but failed to identify the root cause. Only after information located in the "turbodiesel website" and repeat failure was i able to identify and correct root cause!
Vehicle experiencing problem with lower cover of the streeing column overheating from the inside of vehicle. Believed this condition is a result of ignition wiring runing through the cover. Cover was removed and connector was cleaned off and cover replaced.but condition still occurs whenever the fan to the a/c is used. Dealer/manufacturerwere not notified at this time.

Consumer turned engine off, after a while when he tried to start engine, the dashboard was illuminated/ air bag andabs did not function properly/ windows would not go up and down, andair conditioner did not start. Also,wiring harness got so hot that itit discolored the steering column.

This is a an update of file #764788. Daimler-chrysler customer service opened file #10265591 and sent an inspector to investigate the cause of the fire.the invesitgation was subcontrcted toa local man who is doing business illegally, he had orders not to open the ignition switch and could not determine the cause of the fire.on the basis of his report d-c disclaims any responsibility for the fire.the inspection and the d-c response was a fraud involving a saftey recall.nhtsa should investigate.

This model truck had a history of under dash electrical fires, and ntsb ordered a recall no. 875 to correct the dangerous defect.i had this recall performed about one year ago when it was announced.the fire in my truck was concentrated in the same circuits involved in the recall, and in addition spread to the engine compartment where it ignited a pool of fuel which had leaked from a defective fuel line.at the time of the fire, the engine could not be shut down by the key, and firemen had to disconnect the batteries to stop it.
The problems are as followed: the brake light comes on when the clutch is engaged, hard to start, the bracket under dash was fractured-if this breaks, the clutch and brakes could loose control, fatigue and stress crack are visible, firewall flexes when using the clutch/lacks support, and poor quality of support bracket.scc

This truckbody started breaking out behind the cab soon after i bought it. The engine has never ran right from day one. It was in the dodge shop numerous times because of poor fuel milage, and then dodge finally agreed to send the truck to cummins. Cummins found that truck had bad milage also and wrote letter to dodge stating the problems they found. Dodge more or less said tough, don't bother us! the engine had boken push rod at low milage and now an injector melted top out of piston ruining the engine.
Recall work completed however during repair there was damage to cooler line.
My local dodge dealer has a bulletin on a higher output water pump for the v-10 motor, due to low heat output.my truck windshield iced up during driving allowing 0 visibility out on a country road.the thermostat failed and a 120 amp fuse link blew per my local dodge dealer..my truck still puts out low heat temp. So i need to know if chrysler is responsible since there is a bulletin out on it.? thank you.
While drivingheard a noise that was coming fromengine. Then, found out that radiator fan was broken,parts flew insideofengine.
Tear in the hosing unit that regulates the temperature of the motor caused the engine head blocks to break requiring motor replacement due to overheating.
Lack of hangers for radiator hose results in hose being cut by fan.
The dowel pin on the gear housing falls out landing on camshaft gear causing it too bust the housing i know of two that have done this thus costing alot of moneyplease check this out thank you.

Dealer was asked to replace transmission after last failure. They indicated to us that they did repalce the transmission.failure causes the transmission to lock up at high speed and also causes severe hesitation during take off and passing. Could result in an accident.

2500 within two months of purchasing my 1995 dodge ram i began to feel an unusual shifting in the transmission on an intermittent basis. I carried the vehicle to huntsville dodge at 6519 university dr. Huntsville, al 35806, telephone 256-721-9560. The vehicle was carried to this dealership since it is much closer to my home. They could find no problem. At first the shifting was on an intermittent basis but continued to progess in frequency until it finally would not shift out of low gear. This is the point when i could finally get someone at the dealership in the vehicle when the problem was present. They replace the transmission and now with less than 10,000 miles on the new transmission i am beginning to see the same problem again. It has once again started off on an intermittent basis. The dealership at huntsville dodge kept the vehicle for a complete day and stated that they could not find a problem. I have had the vehicle in at the dodge dealership in fayetteville, tn also in an effort to find someone who can help me with this problem. All total between the two transmissions i have had this vehicle in at one dealership or another over 15 times for the same problem and no one seems to be able to correct the problem until it gets so bad that you literally cannot drive the vehicle.

Vehicle experienced a driveshaft separation due to a crack in the transmission output shaft yoke, extensive transmission damage was done to the rear section of the transmission case, also the u-joint caps were expelled from the yoke, the vehicle skidded due to the crack.

Wheneverbrake pedal is pressed downward to slow or stop vehicle, it would not stop. Vehicle would coast, instead. Took to dealer & service manager said that the brakes had faded. The brakes were a constant problem. Had the brake pads replaced, but the problem was not solved.
Brakes started scrapping and making noise, the inside pads on front were grounded into the rotor, metal against metal, dealer contacted and cannot duplicate the problem. Consumer made repairs, contacted manufacturer and they cannot duplicate the problem.

The brake hose failed because of a design defect.the bracket that is part of the hose assembly causes a bend in the hose that forces the hose to contact the wheel wearing a hole in the hose.the replacement hose is designed to eliminate this bend.the right hose is designed the same way.apparently, chrysler found this problem and corrected it but did not recall the defective parts.

Power brake vacuum boost failure. Hose that connects belt driven vacuum pump to the brake boost cannister was partially collapsed. Truck had been taken to the dealer 2 months earlier for loss of boost in braking system. Dealer claimed braking system was operating properly. Truck was involved in accident on 5-30-1998. Traffic situation was stop and go. Brakes had been applied once, and then had to be applied again. Truck could not be stopped from 6 car length distance from 30 mph - about 100 ft. Brakes had lost all boost and even both feet applied as hard as possible only provided marginal braking. After the accident i found out that there has been a recall (97v06800) on some 1995 dodge ram diesel trucks to add an external check valve to the vacuum pump and replace the hose with an oil resistant version. Chrysler claims that since my truck was not recalled (it has pump with internal check valve) they are not repsonsible to repair. It is clear that even with the internal valve, over time some amount of oil mist gets into the hose an causes it to weaken, resulting in collapse. The vacumm pump interanl bearing is lubricasted by an engine oil feed. The check valve does not completely contain all oil vapor from entering the hose. Chrysler obviously knows this by including a oil resistant hose in the recall kit. However, that trucks not included in the recall were left on the road with a standard non-oil resistant vacuum hose.i have talked to numerous other dodge truck owner who have had the vacuum hose collapse on trucks that were not included in the recall. I have written to chryler in this matter, and all they have stated is that since my truck was not part of the recall they are not responsible. They stated that since nhtsa did not ask for recall of all 1995 trucks they have not taken any action on these models. Also have written to susan cishke director of certification compliance and saftey affairs and did not get any response. I have retained the failed hose.

Consumer 's brother was driving truck when approaching a road block with no warning,he lost control of truck, ran into back of a dump truck. Consumer's truck exploded and driver burned to death. There is an open investigation (ea-96-018). Consumer says state is partially responsible due to fact that the road block set up did not meet requirements as it was. Consumer was very upset at this time, and was not able to give further information.consumer did not give phone number, but asked that she also receive a complaint form, form was mailed.

I'm having problems with excessive steering play and wander, which causes a need for constant steering corrections to avoid wandering into other traffic lanes when driving at highway speeds.the problem worsens when either passing or being passed by large trucks, buses, or rv's and causes a tendency to wander or drift towards the lane of the other vehicle.these situations are further worsened and cause dangerous driving conditions when towing a trailer.this can cause unsafe situations of steering over- correction due to the excessive play and wander in the steering system. The excessive steering play and steering wander causes driver fatigue due to the constant need for steering correction when driving for extended periods of time and can lead to dangerous driving conditions like mentioned earlier when being passed by large trucks or rv's.the steering gear and track bar where found to be defective and replaced under the vehicles manufacture warranty @ 32,040 miles.within 10,000 miles the before mentioned excessive steering play and wander returned.this problem is well known amoung 1994-current dodge 2500/3500 ram pickups with the cummins diesel engine option.chrysler/dodge acknowledges this problem since there is a tsbout to specifically troubleshoot customer complaints of "excessive steering play and wander".chrysler/dodge has revised the steering gear several times due to the high incidence of failures leading to excessive steering play and wonder.chrysler has yet to fix this problem which causes unsafe and potentially fatal driving conditions.

Replaced steering knuckle.
Wheel hub spindle on both front wheels will strip all threads off if you remove them to get to the front u-joints. I spoke with mechanics at local dodge dealer and they said this happens all the time. Their parts dept. Keep this part in stock at all times due to high demand. When asked if dodge has advised them how to correct this continuing problem they stated "no". The problem is, if you start to loosen the nut that holds the hub in place it will just sit there and go round and round stripping the threads. My mechanic was told , when he inquired about this that this ia common among the 1994 and 1995 models. The cost to replace is between 100.00 and 170.00 per side,just because i believe the threads are to soft on the hubs and they stripupon loosening. I can understand these things happening from time to time but based on the comments from the local dealers mechanics and parts person this is common. I do not think this right and i believe the hubs are defective.thanks for listening.....ron smith.

Cummins found that truck had bad milage also and wrote letter to dodge stating the problems they found. Dodge more or less said tough, don't bother us! the engine had boken push rod at low milage and now an injector melted top out of piston ruining the engine.

Dodge ram trucks have a known history of "self sustaining vibration" or "shimmy" after striking a small bump, or offset in the road.see dodge tsb 19-05-96 and other steering related issues.we have had our vehicle worked on twice due to extremely violent shimmying that has nearly caused complete loss of control of the truck on 6 seperate occassions.only by incredible luck and skill has there not been serious accidents and fatalities.the tsb i just referenced suggests that the service personnel "test drive the vehicle over a road that duplicates the customer complaint and if shimmying is felt perform ..." this is woefully inadequate in that this problem can not be replicated by such a procedure.the fact remains that one can drive hundreds if not thousands of miles over the same road and the problem will not reproducibly appear.but, with absolutely no notice, and at random, the violent self sustaining and propagating shaking will suddenly occur and one will nearly wreck.during the last such episode which occurred last week, the violent shaking was so great that a 140 pound cardboard box about 18 inches high was nearly thrown out over the side of the truck.this incident occured at a speed of about 65 miles per hour on a curve on the interstate when the front tire of the truck hit a hole in the road that was about 4 inches wide, 1 foot long, and maybe an inch deep.in other words, the bump was nothing.fortunately i was in the middle lane on the interstate and all of the other cars around me hit their breaks when they saw the truck bouncing and leaping down the road.to further complicate things the violent bouncing only gets worse when you apply the brakes.the only quick way to restore control of the vehicle is to violently jerk the steering wheel back and forth, unfortunately this requires both lanes of the road and the emergency lanes.there does not appear to be an adequate "fix" to this problem from dodge.

My truck is a two-tone truck with green being the primary color and a silver/gray being the secondary color. The silver/gray paint began bubbling and peeling approximately a year and a half ago. This truckbody started breaking out behind the cab soon after i bought it. The engine has never ran right from day one. It was in the dodge shop numerous times because of poor fuel milage, and then dodge finally agreed to send the truck to cummins. Cummins found that truck had bad milage also and wrote letter to dodge stating the problems they found. Dodge more or less said tough, don't bother us! the engine had boken push rod at low milage and now an injector melted top out of piston ruining the engine.

I went to pass another vehicle and depressed the accelerator to the floor and as i completed passing the accelerator stuck in the wide open throttle position.since i was accelerating wide open throttle with no control i decided to turn the ignition off but in the process lost power steering and brakes.at this time the vehice i passed nearly rear ended me.i was finally able to pull off the road.i opened the hood and was able to free the cable mechanism back to idle position.something in this cable mechanism is sticking/binding and the return spring isn't string enough to pop it back.let me know if i can be of further assistance.apparently the diesel version has been recalled but the v-10 has not.it appears the v-10 also suffers from this stuck accelerator problem.

Was driving at approximately 40-45 mph when driver was blinded by sun which caused consumer to run off road hit 6 foot wall sand bank. Driver's airbag did not deploy,causing the driver to hit windshield. Airbag never came on to indicate that there was a problem with it.manufactuer has been contacted.
I was watering my lawn on sun. Aug 6..temp outside was approx. 78 degrees..inside temp of my truck was approx. 85 degrees ( windows down). The water from the hose sprayed my windshield for approx. 5 seconds, when all of a sudden i heard a crack. My windshield cracked at eye level from the drivers side, then proceeded to the top of the windshield in the centre, then back down on the passenger side ( total crack approx. 2 -3 feet in length). The windshield had no visible cracks or fractures to attribute to this problem. I did notice in your reports from others..someone report a windshiel defect on july 6/00. Two chrylser dealerships says it happens due to sudden temp. Changes..i am not satisfied with this answer or the possiblilty of it happening to a replacement windshield ??
