Recall 00v135 000/ignition switch/wiring: electrical short in the ignition switch caused a meltdowm on the plastic casing around the steering column. Dealer notified, and informed consumer thatvehicle was not cover under recall due to vin.

Heater blower motoris starting to slow down and gets hot due to defective wiring.this defective wiring has caused blower motor onheater to fail as a result of insufficient voltage to blower motor. Recall number 875 replaced wiring and blower motor coil relay, but did not correct the problem, as a result of the faulty wiring the armature in the blower motor has become defective and overheats and shuts down, consumer feels this is a fire hazard, dodge recall center refuses to accept responsibility for repairs needed.

Smoke was comingfrom ignition switch/ replaced ignition switch and wiring. Also transmission intermittently shifts out of overdrive.

There was a problem with the ignition switch, the key became hard to turn, and then all of a sudden there was a burnt wire smell coming from the steering wheel, and a burn hole was on the side of the steering wheel column, several weeks later, the consumer received a recall notice regarding the ignition switch.

The ignition switch wiring melted and almost caused a fire! apparently the ignition wiring harness incorporates the blower motor main wire feed and overloads the cuircut causing the connection to melt. It melted a hole in the steering column back cover. I have found out since that dodge must be aware of this because they now have an upgrade with a new wiring harness that has a seperate cuircut & relay for the blower motor, instead of running it through the ignition switch.i found this out on the web through aol newsgroup(alt.autos.dodge.trucks) dated 10/30/99 by [email protected]. He writes the same problem and dodges' part number#4874996 sw pkg ig 8050083 and instruction sheet # k6855214 dated 2/26/1996 revised 3/13/1996. I also found others on your website with the same complaint. Nhtsa # pe99031 & # ea99027. I feel this is a safety hazard and you should investigate it . There is a real fire potential here. Obvisouly dodge is aware of this problem, but i think it should be a safety recall and not up to the consumer to pay for it or their vehicle to catch fire.

Track bar on the front broke off while consumer was driving. As a result,vehicle was very difficult to control.consumer states track bar separated from frame bracket. Threaded portion broke at the radius. Also the serpentine belt and water pump failed and were replaced.

Engine failure apparently from timing chain wearing out. Mechanic says there is a hole in piston through which air flows from spark plug hole through to oil fill port. Oil was changed by owners every 2500 miles. Car was apersonal, not fleet van. Miles were not hard driven miles.

Driving at 70mph catalytic converter would plug or clog up &exhaust could not exit. This causedmotor to stop. Been to dealer & mechanic, they indicated that warranty had expired along with the service contract.catalytic converter was replaced once in 1998 for a similar problem. Manufacturer no help. Been to dealer & mechanic, they indicated that warranty had expired along with the service contract.catalytic converter was replaced once in 1998 for a similar problem. Manufacturer no help. When the motor stopped, it caused power brake and power steering failures.

Consumer complains about the catalytic converter. First time the dealer replaced the coverter system due to warranty. Less than 40,000 miles the catalytic converterneeded replacing again. Dealer refused to replace it. Dealer informed consumer that the catalytic converterhas only a warranty for 12 months.

All of these problems have been ocurring since vehicle new and have been repaired by dealer and mechanic, we now keep spare vacume and fuel line and throttle linkage in tool box for on site repair, (in intersection for one example) headlight problem new but getting no response from dealer on free fix, but i see on this web site and others that it is a common problem.what to do???? none of these parts are moving parts and so why the ongoing problems, except for headlight switch, but web pages indicate wiring problems in column or lack of relay and overload due to trailor lights. Problem #1on 31 march 1999, i visited my grandson in centerville, va.i drove my truck there and experienced no problems. When i left to go home, i started the truck, placed the shifter in reverse and let it roll backwards down his sloped driveway, braking when i got on the street. I placed the shifter in drive and stepped on the accelerator but the vehicle did not respond.it crawled forward down the street.i pumped the accelerator and got no response.i stopped the truck, placed the shifter in park, got out, and through the open door applied pressure to the accelerator with my hand.it did not have any resistance.i opened the hood and looked at the injector pump with my flashlight and noticed a link hanging down from the pump and it .there also appeared that there was slack in he accelerator cable.i let the truck idle back to my grandson's driveway and pulled the truck off the road.he drove me home in his car and made arrangements to have the truck towed to my dealer the next day, a distance of over 50 miles. The service people examined the problem and reported that the accelerator cable had shredded and would have to be replaced with a kit that chrysler provides. It was not under the warranty they said. This repair cost me $344.92.it was completely unexpected and i would hate to think of the potential hazar it would have caused if i had been driving 65 mph in the fast lane of an interstate when it snapped, reducing my speed from 65 mph to idle.i asked the service manager if this was a known problem and she indicated that they had had the condition occur previously and that chrysler had a kit to repair it. It was never a recall so far as anyone knew.they also said that chrysler has modified the installation on later models to prevent reoccurance. I feel that (1) chrysler should repuire an examination of all early model dodge ram trucks with diesel engines and, (2) provide reimbursement for my costs in having this problem.

Fuel line leaked.

When the vehicle is moving, the fuel line that is connected to diesel fuel will leak diesel fuel under the floor.it spills onto other parts of vehicle. The metal overflow fuel line from the injector pump to the main fuel tank is joined mid way bya a 5/16 inch rubber hose, this hose has failed 4 times and consumer feels it is a fire hazard.

Premature wear of fuel return line causing a vibration, and resulting in fuel leakage. Please provide additional information.

8 inch connection tubed that connectsfuel line with fuel pressure regulator is thin walled plastic, causing in to crack, resulting in a leak.

Strap that holds low pressure fuel line, is behind the water that separates the diesel engine, has rubbed into the soft fuel line. This has causeddiesel fuel to leak out. Been in contact with several dealers & mechanic had no knowledge of how to correct the problem.

Recall repair (97v-199) was completed, however after repair the fuel gauge failed to work.*mjs

Due to the vibration of the engine,the fuel line and the fitting on the engine don't line up. The rubber fuel line that connects to the engine rubbed through, causing a hole which resulted ina fuel leak. Manufacturer is not willing to help.*ml

On a cold wintry day.i slowed to make a turn and lost my brakes as soon as i'd applied them.the brakes came back after several pedal applications, but made a loud scraping noise.late that evening, i pulled the wheel to inspect the damage and saw that the friction material of the pad, on the piston side, had disappeared completely.there was a small scratch on the rotor.i saved all of the original pads to this set after replacing them myself. Last year i was moving things around in the garage and accidently dropped the identical (intact) pad for the right side.the pad fell about 40" to a concrete floor and separated into two pieces, one backing plate, and one friction material.the adhesive bond looked as though it had failed and allowed moisture to ice up between the materials, causing my near death experience.i had a complete loss of stopping power.with a dual master cylinder, i still wonder why my rear brakes didn't function as a back-up system.

While driving the vehicle down the street at 25 mph steering system broke, unable to operate vehicle. Tow truck was called.then comsumer contacted the manufacturer, they were willing to fix vehicle but comsumer did not want to because he feels it is unsafe. The vehicle was purchased new.the steering and the windshield were replaced twice.the windshield had cracked.

They never fixed any of the problems right so i stopped bringing it too them. I spent a half of a year trying and here i am now with a truck that has 110,00 miles new timing chain new heads new wheel bearing new clutch. I have run out of money and patience. Now my steering wheel is falling off my rear end is huming and my trans is shifting hard. That was the first thing they supposly fixed.is there anything that you can do?

On july 15, 2000, a 1994 dodge ram b350 van owned by macedonia baptist church was traveling down interstate 59 when the left rear tire suffered a tread belt separation causing the van to flip and roll over several times causing the multiple injuries and two fatalities.the tire was a tread mark radial belted lt 245/75 r16 load range e (dot pj11ahlv126) manufactured by kelly-springfield/goodyear tire and rubber company, inc.also the 1994 dodge ram b350 van manufactured by daimlerchrysler corporation was not reasonably safe when being used in a foreseeable manner, but to the contrary, was defective, unreasonably dangerous and did not meet the reasonable expectations of an ordinary consumer as to its safety in that in the event of a crash, the van did not possess sufficient rollover protection to prevent injuries and deaths of the occupants. Firestone, lt 245/75r16, dot# vd11tau139, while driving 65 mph tire tread separated on right rear. Consumer requested reimbursement, however was denied.

Driving the vehicle at low speed of 10 mph, vehicle went high idle position, open throttle, to stop the vehicle turn off the ignition.

Throtle rod with threaded ends having ball sockets screwed on, loacated driver side in center of moter, top, hooks foot peddle cable to throttle body linkage at injection pump,breaks near where threading stops in center of rod, purchase of new rod all ways gets "new improved version, please pay at front counter" we pull trailors in city traffic 90+% of the time and loss of throttle pulling out into traffic at on ramp or intersection is not a good experince! speed control and loss of hvac duct controls to vents lost due to vacume line spliting behind driver side headlight nearmetal "can"fuel line splits or holes in front of driver side, above transmission, below fuel filter, fuel leaks all over. All of these problems have been ocurring since vehicle new and have been repaired by dealer and mechanic, we now keep spare vacume and fuel line and throttle linkage in tool box for on site repair, (in intersection for one example) headlight problem new but getting no response from dealer on free fix, but i see on this web site and others that it is a common problem.what to do???? none of these parts are moving parts and so why the ongoing problems, except for headlight switch, but web pages indicate wiring problems in column or lack of relay and overload due to trailor lights. Consumer is calling dealerin regard tomanufacturer's recall 970 forthrottle control. Dealer has been contacted for repairs, but is unable to remedy because partswere unavailable until further notice.

While driving, experiences intermittent throttle sticking, when upon braking vehicle surges forward and won't decelerate, resulting in near accidents.

Problem #1on 31 march 1999, i visited my grandson in centerville, va.i drove my truck there and experienced no problems. When i left to go home, i started the truck, placed the shifter in reverse and let it roll backwards down his sloped driveway, braking when i got on the street. I placed the shifter in drive and stepped on the accelerator but the vehicle did not respond.it crawled forward down the street.i pumped the accelerator and got no response.i stopped the truck, placed the shifter in park, got out, and through the open door applied pressure to the accelerator with my hand.it did not have any resistance.i opened the hood and looked at the injector pump with my flashlight and noticed a link hanging down from the pump and it .there also appeared that there was slack in he accelerator cable.i let the truck idle back to my grandson's driveway and pulled the truck off the road.he drove me home in his car and made arrangements to have the truck towed to my dealer the next day, a distance of over 50 miles. The service people examined the problem and reported that the accelerator cable had shredded and would have to be replaced with a kit that chrysler provides. It was not under the warranty they said. This repair cost me $344.92.it was completely unexpected and i would hate to think of the potential hazar it would have caused if i had been driving 65 mph in the fast lane of an interstate when it snapped, reducing my speed from 65 mph to idle.i asked the service manager if this was a known problem and she indicated that they had had the condition occur previously and that chrysler had a kit to repair it. It was never a recall so far as anyone knew.they also said that chrysler has modified the installation on later models to prevent reoccurance. I feel that (1) chrysler should repuire an examination of all early model dodge ram trucks with diesel engines and, (2) provide reimbursement for my costs in having this problem.

While driving 65 mph accelerator pedal went to the floor and vehicle started to slow down.consumer inspected vehicle and found throttle linkage had broken at thread. Recall on throttle cable was done in the fall of 2001. Consumer repaired part.

Throttle assembly keeps failing, causing engine to go back to idle,and will shutdown. Dealer claims it is a common defect. *ml

Driving very slowly across pond levee, mashed accelerator,engine increased speed to approximately 70 mph, brakes would not stop it.vehicle plunged into lake, severly injuring driver and passenger, and hitting drain plug of lake, causing drainage and loss of fish, etc.,lake approximately 20 feet deep and, both injured passengers almost drowned.both sustained permanent injuries.

When driving with cruise control on, vehiclecut off and the then rpmsraced.please describe .

Upon tapping the brake pedal to disengage the cruise control, the engine suddenly accelerated to full open throttle.upon application with both feet on the brake pedal, vehicle continued to be stuck in the full open throttle position.after going off the road and hitting a concrete wall, engine was still wide open, vehicle could not be stopped.was projected into oncoming interstate traffic and an 18-wheel semi-truck, collided with me.the dodge is demolished and i am lucky to be alive.

Consumer was driving down the highway and the throttle linkage and control broke . Please describe .

Truck was in park and without prior warning itsuddenly jumpedout gear, accelerating up to 50 mph. Upon uncontrollable acceleration the truckhit a tree.

Throttle linkage cable frayed which caused throttle to stickopen. Dealer replaced throttle cable.

Every 8,000 miles brake rotors and calipers need to be replaced. Also, accelerator linkage ends fall off in heavy traffic, causing vehicle to slow down/transmission cooling line broke loose due to vibration from highway driving.

The intake/outake exhaust valves were replaced and the throttle body was replaced.

No screen under defroster cowl vent, causing debris to fall through openings/blows in driver's face when defroster is turned on.

Heater-defrost control knob failed.

Heater blower motoris starting to slow down and gets hot due to defective wiring.this defective wiring has caused blower motor onheater to fail as a result of insufficient voltage to blower motor. Recall number 875 replaced wiring and blower motor coil relay, but did not correct the problem, as a result of the faulty wiring the armature in the blower motor has become defective and overheats and shuts down, consumer feels this is a fire hazard, dodge recall center refuses to accept responsibility for repairs needed.

While pulling into a gas station windows would not go down. Also,abs light/ check engine light came on.doors would not unlock.then, consumer could not turn car off.consumer had to shake steering wheel to get the key out.

Windshield wipers failed to work when switch was turned on.power window on the passenger's side was not working at all if buttonwas pushed.vehicle would vibrate & rattle when going pass 50mph. Been to dealer each time.

Experiencing long stopping distance during wet weather, resulting in lockup.ttthe power steering was grinding in four wheel drive.front brakes fold, then snap and lock-up.when pumpd, the pedal goes up and increases stopping distance. The accelerator sticks sometimes. The windows rattle and the console works intermittently and leaks air as well.

While driving an elctrical short in the wiring harness, caused the air conditioner to go out and the power window not release out of the closed position.

Tow truck was called.then comsumer contacted the manufacturer, they were willing to fix vehicle but comsumer did not want to because he feels it is unsafe. The vehicle was purchased new.the steering and the windshield were replaced twice.the windshield had cracked.

Vehicle's windshield wipers broke 2 times in severe weather conditions.

Design flaw or defect caused the metal around mount bolts (which are welded in place) for windshield wiper motor tore causing the wipers to jam and become inoperative.manufaturer (daimler-chyrsler customer service) refused to look into the problem because the vehicle was out of warrenty.also refused to let me talk with her supervisor.

Because the wheel bearing on the truck went out there was no breaking ability.

Driver's side wheel came off/passenger's side wheel loose due to incorrect lug nuts, causing accident/injury.
