Bought a 2001 dodge quad cab sport 4x4 in 2003. The dash had a small crack on the drivers side at time of purchase. The crack spread rapidly to all areas of the dashboard. I used protectants, adhesives and dashboard shades and a dash pad to prevent further spread to no avail. During one evening trip,i hit a bump in the road and the entire dash caved in causing the instrument cluster to lose lighting. I had to collect all the extremely sharp shards of plastic out of the dashboard recess to look for the problem. It was during this incident that a extremely sharp piece of plastic cut deep into my right hand. I should have gotten stitches, but used gauze and wrap until healed. What would have happened if the airbag was deployed with loose plastic parts flying all over the place? survive the crash and then die from massive lacerations from broken dash pieces?i contacted multiple local dodge dealers and was told that they knew and corporate knew of the problem, but they would not replace it because dodge corporate would not authorize or pay for the obvious manufacturing defect. I probably will never buy a dodge again. Dodge knew this was a big problem, but did and still does not care. Almost every dodge i've seen within the 2000-2003 years has this blaring problem. Some have replaced the dash with aftermarket parts or just try to cover it up with dash pads or mats. Does the nhtsa care? has this massive issue even looked into?

1)front collision resulting in a complete front clip replacement. Air bags did not deploy.3) dodge is reviewing claim.

I had complete frontal impact and air bag did not deploy. Truck is possibly being estimated a total loss. I hit and snapped a telephone pole, 3 cement barriers and a tree. Safety belt was being used.

While driving at 50 mph on a raining day consumer applied the brakes and vehicleslid andhit another vehicle, rear ending it. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy. Driver sustained chest injuries.

During a head-on collision with another truck neither of the airbags in my 2001 dodge ram 1500 quad cab deployed.combined speed at impact was around 60 mph and the damage to my truck was such that it was considered a total loss. The dealer and my insurance company both indicated that it would be a good idea to pass this information on to you for any follow-up you might wish to conduct.

I am the original owner of a 2001 dodge quad cab dashboardis almost completely gone from cracking. Had a piece come off as i was driving, and hit me in the eye while windows were open..called d/c once, no response..called today, and they said they would look at it for me..report from local tv showedthis to be a major problem. Theelectrical components are failed.

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 ext cab that i bought new from the dealership. At 42,000mi the dash had a crack in the center. I took it back to the dealership but they said it was out of warranty and to use something with uv protection. At 101,000mi the front speakers went out. Now my dash is missing big pieces. I was driving down the road last month and hit a bump in the road. A piece of dash flew up and hit my wife in the forehead. She will no longer let the grandchildren ride in my truck. She is afraid the air bag will go off or a piece of dash will hit them in the eye.now the front lights have blinked on and off 2 or 3 times on separate occasion. I've called dodge and they sent me to a service center. They agreed to replace the dash, instrument cover and glove box all which have cracked. But now i have to pay 580.00$. My tax dollars bailed them out and now i have to pay for their defected parts? this is a danger to drivers.

In traffic going down the road at 65 mph, the dashboard caved in. Loose pieces everywhere. I didn't know if this had affected the electronics or not at the time. I just had to pull over and cut through three lanes of traffic. Luckily so far, just some minor electrical problems here and there. I am scared this will affect the airbag system later on. Dodge says there is no recall on this. Very unfortunate, last dodge i will ever own.

I was stopped at a red light and decided to put my headlights on bright in order to see further down the road. When i hit the dimmer, the lights went completely out and would not come back on until the switch was operated several times. After this, i always left my lights on dim for safety reasons. Finally went to a junk yard and pulled a replacement dimmer, which solved the problem, i hope.

The main bearing was going out and consumer needed to replace engine.while driving the consumer noticed that the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero and the check engine light illuminated and then would return to normal when the consumer resumed speed.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that something broke in the top of the engine and caused metal shaving to end up in the oil pan and thus blocking oil from getting into the engine.as a result the main bearing failed and the engine had to be replaced. The consumer requested reimbursement 3 times for the cost of replacing the vehicles engine but was denied.*nolan

When switching from high beams to low beamsi lost my headlights - and this is apparently a very big problem with these vehicles. This is a huge safety problem. I have to quickly switch back and forth many many times to regain my lights. As i understand this is the multi-function switch in the steering column...this is a 2001 dodge 2500 4x4, quad cab, diesel pickup. I belong to a website for these trucks and it is a common complaint!

1.truck operated normally until fuel system problems occurred.2.truck would not start and fuel lift pump was replaced twice, problem still not fixed and resulted in very hard starts and eventually replaced injector pump.truck is still having fuel system problems, i am still having problems and have had truck in and out of shop for the last 4 months.the mechanic i am using has been very helpful and has not tried to take advantage of situation.he has told me that this problem is very common in these trucks and that he sees this on a weekly basis, and is surprised there has not been a recall on the fuel system.3.after doing some research on my own, and with other diesel mechanics, i have learned that the fuel system on the dodge cummins diesels is extremely prone to failure, and seeing the system cost around $2000 to fix, this problem should be investigated by dodge and be recalled to fix or compensate for costs.

2001 dodge ram 2500 4 wd thestrap that supports the rear of the gas tank snap. The rear of the gas tank was hanging down. Both straps had to be replace and the sraps were rusted real bad.

The dodge 2500 and 3500 pickups equipped with the cummins 24 valve diesel has a defective fuel pump that can cause problems with the vehicle without notice. The trucks involved are '98.5 through '02 models. These pumps last as short as 30,000 miles. Dodge knows of this problem and has refused to acknowledge it. This can cause a loss of power un-expectedly and create safety issues. It also leads to a much more consumer costly fix in that if it isn't replaced in time, the injection pump will fail due to lack of fuel flow. The excess fuel flow that the lift pump normally supplies is responsible for cooling and lubricating the fuel injection pump. The replacement of the injection pump can run $3,000. I had to replace mine at 40,000 mi as dodge won't replace it until it fails or has so low of pressure. As stated above, letting the lift pump completely fail or get into the low pressure range that dodge will replace it, the damage has already been done to the injection pump or the truck will fail to run or quit unexpectedly. Thank you for any help you can give us. Sincerely [xxx]. *nlminformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The hood unexpectedly flew open and smashed the windshield of my 2001 dodge ram 1500 truck!the front end of the truck is now destroyed and i have come to find out that this truck has already been recalled for this exact same issue from 1994-1999.obviously it was not fixed after 1999 because i have located 9 other people besides myself who own 2001 models and who have had the exact same problem.

After checking my battery connections and fluid levels i closed my hood as normal and about 24 hours later i was driving my truck and the hood latches failed and the hood opened up with a heavy gust of wind. I was driving about 30-40 miles per hour and had to make a blind stop on the road.this road was rarely traveled and fortunately no one was hurt.my wife and my son were with me.the event bent my hood back to the windshield and over extended the hood hinges. Damage to the hood, hinges and mating areas of the truck.

We have a 2001 dodge ram truck.the hood blew open on the freeway, completely damaging the windshield.further it was an extreme danger to ourselves on other vehicles on the road.a recall has been issued for 1994 - 1999 dodge ram hoods opening.chrysler will not do anything about this manufacturer defect on the 2001.this is my second notice to you.please advise of receipt of complaint and follow up

The emergency brake has broke loose from the dash assembly and since there is no recall yet for the dash, it has not been repaired.

The transmission failed on my dodge ram1500 with 63,000 miles on it. I was stranded 5 hours from home in michigans upper pennisula. The trans. Was slipping and fluid was leaking near the torque converter area.as of now the truck has not been repaired and i really don't care.i also have that clunking noise even after replacing all the u-joints.i'm definately trading in for a ford.

Transmission oil on the ground.found the transmission pan on my 2001 doge truck was rotted away.i feel this premature failure for this truck millage on the truck is 34,000 miles and the dealer say nothing can be done about this.i feel the quality is in poor shape for dodge if this the case.this is not my only dodge i just bought another dodge and also so had a 95.i would think that a trans pan would last more than three years. Thank you. I would like to now who too contact at dodge .

The check engine light related to the transmission in my 2001 dodge ram pickup lit up at around 45,000 miles. I had the light checked out and found out there was a problem. I was told that the transmission would need to be rebuilt including the torque converter. Since the mileage was over 36,000 the dealership made it clear that the warranty was over and that fixing the truck would be my problem. I ran the vehicle until the transmission completely failed, which was at 54,000 miles. I had to put in a replacement transmission. I wrote to the president of dodge (dr zitske) telling him of my dissatisfaction with the failure of the transmission and that dodge would not stand behind their product. I didn't even receive the courtesy of a reply. Nothing.i am now the proud owner of a real truck (toyota tundra). I try to make it a point to tell everyone i can that dodge does not stand behind their product at all.

In 2000 i bought a dodge quad cab 1500 pick-up truck, as of 2-23-05 i was experiencing a clanking noise coming from the middle of truck, it would come and go. I asked around and found out that dodge has a problem with their transmittingthis truck has only 36,320 miles on it. Called dodge and they would not do nothing about it. This is going to cost about +- 2,000 dollars to repair. I guess i will buy a chevy or ford next time.

Torque converter broke apart internally after 54000 miles. Contacted aamco tranmission and was told this was a very common problem on dodge trucks through 2003. Transmission had to be rebuildt.

The rear differential makes a clunk noise when taking off from a stop at medium acceleration. I had it in to the dealership four times for this problem. Three of the times they greased the slip yoke and sent me home. The fourth time they replaced the pinion shaft and three weeks later it does the same thing. It is not right for a truck with only 28,000 miles on it to have these problems.

I bought new a 2001 dodge ram 1500 quad cab4 wheel drivewith the off road packageone of the options that was suppose to be included and installed from the factory was a anti spin differential also known as a post traction or limited slipwell i noticed this truck didn't have very good traction in rain or snow unless i put it in the four wheel drive modeit should of had better with the anti spin rear endwell i just passed my 36000 mile factory warranty and i was doing maintenance on said truckwhile changing the gear oil in front and rear differentials i discovered that the rear is not equipped with the anti spin option that was said to have been installed and that i paid extra for [how many other of these trucks did they sell with advertised option that was not installed ]i have called the dealer and the dodge 800 number all i get is the run around as well as the b.b.bwhich by the way says dodge does not participate inand just because my truck just went out of the factory warranty [ mileage wise]is irregardless as i paid for said extra option of this anti spin differential and either want it installed or some money back[to have it installed would be in excess of 1500.00 dollarsand one thing it is consumer fraud and false advertising also the anti spin differential is a added safety optionthat i paid extra for and did not receive.

2001 ram 1500 extd. Cab 4wd sport.i don't use it off-road and only use 4x4 in the snow.32000 miles needed new tires.shop wouldn't align wheels because they said i needed new ball joints.brought truck to dealer, they said it was within specs.35700 miles, same dealer replaces upper and lower universal joints on warranty.i went back to tire dealer for alignment, they said the ball joints were still bad and needed to be replaced.36010 miles, dealer replaces upper and lower, left and right ball joints on warranty.65600 miles, check engine light came on, same dealer replaces purge solenoid, stabilizer links and shift rod link to quiet rattling noise.

Front seat belts will not extend. Unable to use. Parts are being ordered for repairs to be made.

Dt:2001 dodge ram.the consumer statedthat onfront center folding seat the bolt sheared off and the seat collapsed.this started three days ago.the dealership stated there was nothing they could do.he ordered the bolt to fix it.dodge statedwarranty expired. This was the first time this happened.

This truck is used to haul a camper and a car trailer for my show cars. Today i started truck to hookup to car trailer for the fourth time time this year.this truck is not driven in the winters yet while backing up to the trailer i pressed on the brake pedal to have the brake pedal go to the floor.i found that the line going to the rear is rusted near the fuel tank and sprays brake fluid onto the fuel tank.also a line for the front brakes coming down from the abs unit failed at the same time.i have brake fluid spraying everywhere.this caused a complete brake system failure.it appears the oem coated all other under vehicle components yet left the brake lines raw steel.i write this as a search to web to find this is occurring over and over again.something needs to be done as if this happen to me after hit the road with 9,000 lbs of trailer behind me with no brakes either myself or someone else on the road could have been killed.

I was making a right hand turn in a parking lot, going about 5-10mph, while i was turning, the brake pedal started pulsating very hard - drove forward in the parking lot - made a left hand turn started going forward and went to step on brake pedal and it would not move - pedal was rock hard and would not stop truck. After finally coasting to a stop i put truck in reverse - backed up in vacant part of the parking lot so i could put truck in drive and then swing wide into a parking stall and coast to a stop - however when i went to swing the truck i had absolutely no steering at all -front wheels would not turn. Had to have towed.

My rear brake line broke and in the process of looking up torque specifics on the new one i bought i have discovered that this is happening a lot with dodge.the lines are rusting through because i believe regular steel is being used instead of a treated or stainless which would resist corrosion better.luckily i was able to downshift and use my emergency brake instead of facing a tragedy.i can see where some people would panic and not think to do this to pull of the road safely.it is a scary feeling to push the brakes and have nothing happen.the way the brake lines are run is also very inconvenient and most of the time require the gas tank to be removed which is difficult for most and can be costly to have a mechanic do it.i was fortunate in that the line broke just above the gas tank so i was able to pull it through the retaining clips.

The emergency brake has broke loose from the dash assembly and since there is no recall yet for the dash, it has not been repaired.

2001 dodge ram 4x4 drivers side rear brake line rusted through creating a leak when trying to stop in driveway at home.had bushes in front of parking spot blocked by railroad ties as a landscape divider.the truck ran into and partial through railroad ties into bushes to stop the truck.no repair made yet on truck.

Goodyear wrangler rts tire separated in 3 pieces, tire size p265/75r16 dot mk73d5dr1000, causing damage to vehicle.abs and brake light came on, vehicle coasted to a stop.

While driving at 50 mph on a raining day consumer applied the brakes and vehicleslid andhit another vehicle, rear ending it. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy. Driver sustained chest injuries.

Steering is so bad, i'm afraid while driving my 2001 dodge ram 2w truck.while driving it feel like you are going to lose control and run into another car.it is a unsafe truck to drive, and i can not get the dealer i purchased from to do anything about it.they will not even speak with about the problems.i have left voice mail message for several managers and to date have not receive a call back.

Steering pull and poor handling. Ie wandering, drift, pull to the right even after alignment(s) at different shops including dealership. Problem has been ongoing since purchase of vehicle when new. Vehicle now has 65,000 miles and has worn 2 sets of tires and almost due for a 3rd set.

Truck does not steer correctly, actually dangerously, especially when towing ,but when not towingit just almost steers where it wants to. Dodge cannot find anything wrong, but i find there are other similar complaints on the -my car stats - website.

Had to have towed.

Vechile difficult to control while driving on highway after hitting a moderate sized bump.trouble started at approximately 18,000 miles and was not somewhat resolved for nearly 10,000 miles.while traveling at highway speeds and striking a bump with the driver's side front wheel, the front of the vehicle would shake violently and start to leave the lane of travel.the shaking and shuttering of the front end gave a feeling like the left front tire was either bouncing down the road or wobbeling.this was reported several times to the dealer and a contol arm and steering arm was replaced at different attempts to correct the problem.during this time frame, i expierenced excessive wear on the tires.a front end alignment has seemed to reduce the problem, but it would seem that if this was the symptom of the need for alignment, then the service center would have know this.

2001 dodge ram quad cab 4x4.steering wanders excessively from left to right.nearly impossible to maintain a constant track line on the road.have had the vehicle into the dealer and they have replaced some tie rods but seems to have little effect on the wandering.i am afraid that this inability to control the vehicle may cause an accident.this vehicle only has 18,000 miles on it and has not been abused.

Clunk or rattle felt in steering wheel when going over bumps, especially going down hills, sometimes can also feel it when brakes are applied

This complaint concerns the disintegration of the dashboard on the 2001 dodge ram pickup.my truck was only 4 yrs old when it started cracking.it is totally unacceptable for a auto manufacturer to produce something that falls apart so quickly and then not offer to replace it.i am also having problems with the left front speaker, probably due to the wiring being damaged with the breakage.

Dashboard cracked and pieces fell out.

After several years of dash cracking, the dash cap finally gave up after hitting small bump on the road.several pieces hit passengers face.nothing serious happened but enough to conclude that it posses a safety thread and dash board should be replaced by dodge.

2001 dodge ram pickup1. Normal usage at 35,000 miles.2. Cracked dashboard may cause injury/ exposure to electrical components. The entire dashboard appears to be caving in.3. Dodge has yet to accept responsibility after repeated complaints.

In 2004 i purchased a 2001 dodge ram quad cab 1500 truck from a local dealer. The truck was in great shape. About 3 yrs. Later i noticed the dash starting to crack from the defrost vents outward. With in a week i had large holes in the middle of my dash. The plastic pieces that broke off fell down inside. I contacted a local dealership and was told that they knew of this problem but because it was not a recall they couldn't do nothing about it. I feel from being a medic firefighter that this is a safety issue. If i should be involved in an accident and my passenger side airbag becomes deployed more pieces of the dash can become projectiles causing damage and bodily injury.

Dash board has multiple cracks and has sunken in.

We seen on local 6 wkmg a story concerning dashboards cracking on dodge ram trucks. Well, we're one of the statistics.we own a 2001 dodge ram 2500 quad cab turbo diesel, with a cracked dashboard, or should i say many cracks! the speaker volume goes up and down with every whim, never knowing when it's going to happen. Could happen during a turn or maybe going over a bump. One of the cracks has invaded down to the light switch, which makes me very nervous wondering if my lights might go out some night while i'm driving.the incident date for us, is when we bought the truck as we bought it used and it continued to crack over time.

I own a 2001 dodge ram pick up.approximately 2 years ago we discovered that the dashboard had cracked in numerous places.we had it replaced while the vehicle was still under warranty.we have discovered that the replaced dashboard is again cracking.i feel that these particular models are defective and i would like for the dashboard to be exchanged again without cost to me as a consumer.i do not want this dashboard caving in like others that have been reported with the same problems.i dearly love my truck and it's a shame that an item such as this could decide whether i buy from dodge in the future. Thank you for your consideration of this request.

The dashboard on my 2001 dodge ram is cracked in several places with big gaping holes. After googling this problem, i discovered there are thousands of these.

Dash on 2001 dodge quad cab has been cracking for the last 3 years even into air bag department, dodge company says they are not responsible for the dash, i think its is time dodge steps in before someone is kill there are enough complaints the national safety board steps in and investigate as to what went wrong.

Dashboard cracking in my 2001 dodge ram 1500. Updated 01-14-08.updated 12/12/07. *jn

Cracked dash-we purchased our 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 quad cab used in oct 2003 with less than 46,000 miles on odometer.when we purchased the truck the cup holder was not closing properly and we asked the dealership to adjust it.they did but it still did not close properly or hang properly and was not usable as is.cup holder fell completely off within about 3 months although we couldn't use it much.our dash began to crack within the same time of purchasing the truck and now the bezel is cracked so badly is it falling in.we are looking into purchasing a bezel now because it is just so bad now.when the truck was purchased the dash had arattling that we couldn't figure out, it is obviously the bad dash bezel design. We did purchase a new cup holder when fixing it didn't work anymore.i do not have the old cup holder but i can tell you the hinges broke completely off of it.my husband put new screws in and tried to save it before we finally bought a new one.the dash bezel will be available and i believe the pieces will be inside(somewhere)the wiring of the truck.i am so dissatisfied by this cheap fragile plastic in my dash.oh, and my glove box is now acting up and i open that exactly once a year to change information like insurance, registration, etc.guess i will be buying a new glove box sometime too.

The dash on my 2001 dodge is falling apart leaving sharp jagged edges that my children could be cut by. So far dodge is not doing anything about it to my knowledge, even though this is a wide spread problem. Please look into this.

2001 dodge ram quad cab short bed pickup has mysterious failure of the dashboard.cracks extend throughout.very concerned about potential dangers associated with a collision and airbag deployment.pieces of the dashboard could become dangerous projectiles causing serious injury or death.cracks began in july of 2005 and have become so severe by 2009 there is not much of the dashboard left intact.

Dash board cracked and fell apart.

2001 dodge ram sport cracking dash.

The dashboard is cracking starting at the defroster vent and continuing on the passenger side to the air bag compartment. Only 60,000 miles on the vehicle and has been well maintained. Dealer claims there is no remedy with dodge and i will have to pay to install new dashboard. This is definitely a safety hazard if the air bag were to deploy as shape pieces of loose plastic have the potential to harm passengers.

2001 dodgeram was involved in a 20 mph accident. The dash which already had several cracks broke into dozens of sharp fragments which were flown around the driver and passenger. Dodge dealer admitted this is a common problem but the factory has refused to accept fault or issue a recall.

Dashboard crackin i know other 01 rams doing the same thing this is safety concern as could prematurely deploy airbags...dodge needs to recalls this issue.

The dashboard on my 2001 dodge ram 1500 started developing cracks about 12 months ago. The cracks began on the passenger side around the air bag and continue to extend in several areas towards the drivers side. The dashboard appears to be extremely brittle and areas are beginning to sag inward. Components encased within the dash were not designed for constant exposure to sunlight that will result from continued failure of the dashboard. This creates a concern as to the potential exposure of electrical and air bag deployment components and the possibility of the air bag deployment being compromised as a result of the dash deterioration or the possibility of electrical malfunctions resulting from wiring insulation becoming brittle due to sun exposure.

2001 dodge ram 1500 pick-up dash is almost completly collapsed/broken.

2001 dodge ram 1500noticed several cracks in the dashboard in 2008brought it to the dealer, ultimately they could replace but i would have to pay for it. Chrysler corp. Agreed withdealer.now there are more i put caulk on them to keep the dash from eventually from falling in creating all kind ofhavoc i have read some of the horror stories in result of thisdefect of the dashboard.

Dashboard cracking in several places long crack by passenger side airbag. Total of 7 cracks that keep getting larger. Noticed first one sept. 2006.

The dash in my 2001 dodge ram 2500 diesel has cracked in many places. I always have used a windshield visor.

Cracked dashboard bad and getting worse.

The dashboardon the2001 dodge ram 1500 was falling apart.

Excessive dash board cracking!! in a months time 2 large cracks have appeared on the dashboard leading me to believe that crash safety may be compromised.

The dash-has cracks that run the length of the dash total of six the truck only has 29,000 miles and is garaged all the time. I feel this is a defect. The truck has never been abused in anyway before last week my truck was in excellent shape.

On going problem with our 2001 dodge trucks complete front dash cracking and falling in on itself. I continue to use an epoxy and silicon to try to hold it together.dodge and the dealership told us it was a cosmetic problem.no warranty

Driving on public streets his a small pot hole, the dashboard broke and the bezel fell off causing a driving hazard.

No indications of failure before occurrence, top dash piece cracked and broke (essentially shattered) across the whole dash also caused the bezel to crack and brake i have heard of several others with the same make and model that have the same trouble.

The dash on my 2001 dodge ram 1500 started to crack about eight months ago. It began as a small crack near the defroster area on the passenger side and grew to about eight inches toward the front of the dash. A second crack began within the last couple months and also grew to about eight inches. This time much more rapidly. I use my truck only for short trips to work and back and rarely take passengers. Nothing is, or has ever been, stored on the dash, yet it continues to crack. I have read about 50 complaints on the same issue for this model year vehicle. I too share the concern that continued cracking of the dash with pieces caving in will negatively impact electrical connections under the dash and possible even prevent the passengers side airbag from properly deploying in the event of an accident.

Cracking dash on my 2001 dodge ram truck.

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 quad cab, which is a nice truck. I started noticing a crack in the dash about a year after i got it. Since then it has cracked in several places, with pieces falling out. I removed the dash from the truck and ended up with about 20 pieces. Dodge or the dealership won't do anything. I will have to pay 200.00 dollars for a new dash in order to replace a defected one.

Dashboard cracking/breaking off leaving jagged edges to the extent that it is dangerous to drive.

My 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 dash has completely cracked to pieces.it started out as just two cracks.now hunks of the dash are falling out, about 8 months later.it just continues to get worse.

Entire dash is falling to pieces. Cracks everywhere. Only 50k miles.

Purchased a new 2001 dodge ram quad cab.dash and bezel started cracking after purchase and has now completely busted up.having to have replaced at the cost of $1500 for new dash, bezel, and labor.

Dash cracked within a year of owning the truck. I asked when it was a small crack to be replaced. The service manager at landers in little rock, ar tried to say i had cut it. Now that the factory warranty is out the dash has become a mess cracked from end to end, side to side. In looking for a solution to my problem i have been to salvage yards and an independant who rebuilds and works on dodge trucks exclusively and all have said they have had an extreme run on 2001 dodge dashes as of the last 12 months.

2001 dodge quad 3/4 ton v10 - dash cracked in one place on passenger side - later dash caved in leaving huge hole.we purchased a dash cap at the cost of $130.00 to correct the problem as we could not drive around with a big hole in the dash right above a/c vents.

2001 dodge ram pickup dash board cracked and fell apart exposing sharp plastic shards to diver and passenger.

Dashboard on 2001 dodge ramcracked and falling apart.

Cracked dash. Dash has cracked in multiple places with some cracks running from front to back, cracking crack to crack, and exposing undersurface. Dealer indicated this is a common problem and wants to charge in excess of $1100 to repair. Internet complaints make this appear to be a factory known defect that has occurred very often with safety concerns.

Went out to use my truck this afternoon, and noticed my dashboard had two large cracks completely through the plastic, the cracks go from the windshield and wrap all the around to the glove box. Each crack is on either end of the glove box...

Large cracks in dash of truck becoming a safety hazard. Plastic dash and gauge bezel cracking badly. I have not found this issue on the 2000 or 2002 model. I have also spoken to other owners of this vehicle with the same year and cracking of the dash, suspect this to be a defect in manufacturing.

My 2001 dodge ram quad cab 1500 4x4 has entire dashboard cracking up and falling into the instrument area under the dash. This is exposing the light sensors, air bag controls and other safety features to harmful sun exposure. I see that several thousand costumers have had this same problem and neither the company or the government are doing anything to correct the problem.

The dashboard in our 2001 dodge ram truck has a huge crack in it.it has been there for several years.there has been nothing done thus far to repair this.

Dashboard on the 2001 dodge off road hadmultiple cracks across the entire dashboard. It was , a safety concern with flying particles and with proper operation of the air bags. This truck was very new when the cracks began to appear. Almost every dodge with the same yearthat i have seen had the same problem. If you go to almost any dodge forum you could see that this has happened to thousands of other people, and dodge will not do anything about it .please help. Thank you.

2001 dodge ram 1500 quad cab approximately 4 years ago, june 2005,2 small cracks opened on the dashboard, one above the glove box and the other above the speedometer. Over the last 4 years these cracks have gotten bigger and spread length and width across the dash board. The dash board is literally in pieces. The air conditioning quit working a short time after the 2 initial cracks occurred. We have not taken any corrective actions. I would like to pursue having chrysler repair the defective parts, we have lived with it long enough.

Two hours of highway travel 45-65 mph.traveling north on interstate 91, 1 mile south of exit 3 vermont @approximately 13:50 speed approximately 65 mph.hood unexpectedly flew up and back against the windshield blocking all field of view. Luckily, i was able to slow down and once off a bridge pulled over in the emergency lane.damage to windshield, hood, hinges and grille.3 other passengers in the vehicle but no one was hurt.latched the hood down with rope and slowly returned to 336 knower rd westminster. Inspection of the hood latches showed both very rusty and the safety latch frozen. This appears to have failed.all equipment was original on the vehicle.

Damaged upper ball joints, and control arms.

Problem with truck since brand new, pulls hard to left. Dealer has replaced tires, all front end parts and aligned. You have to keep constant pull on steering wheel to right to keep it from crossing median. Back to dealer seven times.

While driving my dodge 1500 quad cab it wanders all over the road making it difficult and uncomfortable to drive.it pulls to the right bad in the right lane andbad to the left in the left lane even after alignment.consults with the dealer have only yielded that it is normal for that type of suspension.i have had no luck getting this resolved and driving other similar dodge ram's i have found that it is not "normal".

Right front tire keeps coming off while driving 5 times the truck been park for 2 months, wheel bearing replaced twice upper lower ball joints , tie rods shot, rotors twice first set at 30,000 miles dealer ask how my driving was, both front calipers less than 78,000 miles

Steering problem diagnosed by dodge dealer as needing replacement track bar.front axle bounces violently at highway speed causing loss of control.2001 dodge ram 1500, 4x4 quad cab, 64000 miles.dodge claims no responsibility. *nlm

Vibrations from front end and rattling sound from rlft front end when driving. Had track bar, ball joints and seals replaced on lft side.

2001 dodge ram extended cab pickup truck bought brand new.with 17,500 miles on this vehicle, my ball joints failed pennsylvania state inspection.this vehicle is driven only around 8,000 miles per year on hard road (no off-road).my dodge is not the only dodge that is having problems with ball joints.something needs done about this problem before it turns into another ford explorer problem with firestone tires.

Left front wheel falling off.

Dodge ram, model year 2001 upper and lower ball joints defective. Truck is three years old, 21,000 miles, never driven off road, the ball joints should not be failing on this vehical unless there is a defect in the parts.

Front end suspension coil springs of 2001 dodge ram 1500 pickup truck are 'sagging'.the coils have failed prior to the vehicle reaching 63,000 miles and have resulted allowing the front wheel struts to encroach on the turning radius of the front wheels.cutting the wheels either hard left or hard right results in contact with the inside wall of the tires and the strut.when the vehicle rolls with the tires in contact with the struts, the tires are scored.over time, this scoring has damaged and weakened the inside wall of the tire

Goodyear wrangler rts tire separated in 3 pieces, tire size p265/75r16 dot mk73d5dr1000, causing damage to vehicle.abs and brake light came on, vehicle coasted to a stop.

Dtthe consumerputnew tires on the vehicle onseptember 17,2005 when they took the wheels off and sawthat thetireswere wearing out onthe inside , just on one tire, the left front tire. The tire had rubbed on the rim of the vehicle, consumer took the vehicle to the local dealer, they said it had a bad bearing on the left front of the vehicle, and they replaced the bearing.now , it was rubbing on the shock absorber mount and plate. It was doing the samething again. The dealer said there should just be a certain type of tire on the vehicle.

I have the same common problem with the dashboard being cracked,i regularly use armorall so as to keep the dashboard from fading and cracking, but to no avail.

Cracked dash.

2001 dodge ram 1500.dash is disenegrated.started with a small crack and dash is all splintered up.when dash caves in, could this cause a fire with shorting out the wires?nothing was done by dealer and will not accept responsibility of a defected part.dodge offered no reason as to why this is happening on the trucks fromearly on up until approxamately the 2001 year.

My dash cracked just recently, from the windshield across right above passengerair bag. I see this has been an ongoing problem with this year of truck. The rest of the truck is in great shape, still looks new, except for the dash and i alwaysuse a sunshade. Should be a recall.....

Noticed dash had two cracks running from the windshield to the instrument panel. Have used vinyl conditioner since 2001, when new, and have used a inside windshield screen.i called a body shop and the repair could be as much as a $1000. This all on a 2001 dodge 1500 ram pickup with only 54,000 miles.

There is a crack in the dash that started at the defrost vent and came forward to the passenger side airbag, there are seven more cracks that have sprouted off of the initial crack. The cracks have caused a six inch hole in the center of the dash. The piece of plastic fell into the dash and is now somewhere up against the airbag. There is a great concern that this will damage the airbag causing it not to deploy properly if at all. There is also concern that if it does deploy will the plastic pieces that have fallen into the dash deploy with it causing great bodily harm.

Cracking dash board on drivers sides

I drive a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x2 quad cab. I am a victim of the famous "cracked dash" as well. At around 38,000 miles i started to notice a small crack that went about 2 inches or so from the right screw (pass side) at the defrost vent for the windshield. I took it to the dealer thinking that my extended warranty would take care of it, not realizing that only the original warranty takes care of trim work, the extended warranty will not cover the work , according to the dealer, metro dodge in snellville, ga. Shortly after i began noticing small cracks developing all around my dash, however the first one was making its way to the air bag. It has since progressed into the entire dash onpass side being almost completely broken out at the top, and just falling to pieces. I consider replacing the dash but since then the door jam cover (between the windshield and door, at about eye level, on the driver side has started falling apart as well. So i figure that their is no reason to do the dash unless i can do it all, and i do not have the money for that, however i am concerned with possible safety issues associated with this problem, and have since researched the problem on the internet and have learned about certain safety issues associated with the cracked dash. Thisis a major concern of mine and i would like it fixed. If i were to have an accident and my air bags deploy, the cracked dash could cause the airbags to be punctured and possibly limit my safety, along with my teenager.

Dashboard on my 2001 dodge 1500 quad cab is cracked. Started cracking about 2 years ago. Vehicle is parked 9 times out of 10 in a house garage or in a parking garage structure for work. It's cracked in 3 different places the largest crack running from the defroster vent all the way to the airbag location.

The dash on my truck has one large and one small crack.the large crack is on top in the middle.the small crack is near the passenger air bag compartment.this truck has been well maintained and garage kept for 90% of its life.

I have a 2001 dodge ram truck that's dash has cracked and come apart in 6-7 pieces.this started to occur in 2003 and has continued to worsen.i first noticed the problem at around 52000 miles.i called the dealer in odessa and received no satisfaction.the dash has to be replaced and while looking on line i came across a site where a number of other customers have had the same problem.

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 in great condition except for 2 cracks starting in my dashboard coming from the defroster vent area where the 2 screws are located. I understand many many other ram owners have this problem and many of their dashes have fell completely inward exposing wiring a such. The local dodge dealership has stated that this is definitely a problem but they cant fix it cause their is no open recall on it yet! as much money as we pay for these vehicles we should be able to expect something as functional and cosmetic as your dashboard to last. Action should be taken soon!! dodge let avendor supply them with subpar material and they know it yet they are not willing to replace the dashes? makes no sense. I just purchase this truck a few months ago from a used car dealer that is why the incident date below is filled in like it is. Please do the american consumers some justice and make the chrysler corp fix all these cracked dashes.

My 2001 dodge quad cab ram 1500 truck dash has within the last 6 months nearly collapsed from cracking and falling apart.it seems that this may interfere with the airbag deployment on the passenger side.i have taken very good care of my vehicle.it has almost 100k miles on it and yet on the outside it looks nearly new.i am presently looking at how i can replace this dash.

Dashboard of our 2001 dodge ram pickup truck is severely cracked.the cracks started to appear within six months of 12/2001, thepurchase date of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge ram quad cab. While driving approximately 45 mph the drivers side wheel studs broke off causing the rim and tire to come off. The failure caused damage to the fender, door and the bed of the truck.a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic. The mechanic replaced the rotors, tie rod ends, a caliper, track bar and wheel studs on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a body shop for the fender, the cab corner and the truck bed to be repaired.the failure happened again on december 13, 2010.the passenger side wheel studs broke off again causing damage to the rotors, tie rod end, track bar and wheel studs. The vehicle was towed back to the same mechanic who replaced the rotors, tie rod end, track bar, wheel studs and aligned the vehicle. The contact had not contacted the manufacturer.the vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 132,000.
