I purchased a new 2007 dodge 3500 , that started to fail in many areas of the vehicle, before the 10,000 mile mark. Freedom dodge here in lexington kentucky deliberately executed insurance fraud to blame clutch failure on a minor collision that never busted a light, radiator, etc. And was able to drive after collision.before the accident i noticed clutch slipping, truck tires began to wear at an extreme rate, and vibrationswas becoming an increasing problem. I then took the truck to freedom dodge where they blamed all on minor collision, in which i turned to geico for reimbursement. Geico fought dodge on this issue, then freedom dodge went back on their previous documentation and blamed the failures on me, and documented that.i have documents of them going back on their previous documentation.i have all documentation to support all, while paying a high payment for this so called "heavy duty" truck, i was forced to make repairs or give back.after replacing clutch that cost me over $1600.00 the other problems visibly arising was to much to take from my family to pay for.this truck and the voluntary repo process has destroyed my good credit that i have worked so hard to perfect. Thanks to dodge/chrysler my family now suffers from my purchase from freedom dodge.the deliberately falsified company documents to make financial gain, and continue to sell these vehicles to others, knowing from many others these trucks are junk.the motor is built by cummins, never had a problem from motor, but all parts behind trucks are junk and designed for failure, to increase sales in their service dept.my family has dearly paid for my choice to by a dodge. Due to the many recalls, the last one being with rack & pinion, resulting in spontaneous crash, i would not allow my family to ride in this truck out of fear for their lives.my wife was furious, because i was forced to drive such an unsafe and failed vehicle.they ruined my life and our credit,we deserve comp.

I was involved in an automobile accident on 11/6/13.the 2007 dodge ram 3500 truck i was in was totaled due to the accident.the air bags did not deploy upon impact.my head hit the steering wheel and bent the steering wheel.my neck was broken in two places.i feel that if the air bags had deployed i would not have been hurt as seriously as i was hurt.i don't know if anyone else has had trouble with air bags not deploying but i do think someone needs to know about this problem and maybe no one else will be hurt as bad as i was hurt.

60 miles from home after a 2,000 mile camping trip the truck suddenly stopped. Traveling north on highway191 in yellowstone park the dash lights started to flash and the truck died. I was barely able to pull off the narrow road. Emergency flashers didn't work and there was no cellphone service, snow was falling and trucks barely able to get around us, we feared for our lives. I opened up the hood and smelled burning plastic, the tipm was melted in spots. Finally a kind motorist stopped to see if we needed help,20 miles further down the road he was able to call a towing service which took another several hours to get to us. We were towed to a dodge dealership in bozeman where it will be another2 weeks before they can get it in.

My 2007 dodge ram 3500suddenly lost all electrical and engine power when slowing for a red light on us27 4lane at somerset, ky. I was towing a equipment trailer and was able to steer around traffic and get stoppedon shoulder. I notice smoke and smell of burnt plastic from under hood as soon as i got stopped. I was able to jerk the battery cable off with pliers and put fire out at fuse box next to battery.i had truck towed to somerset dodge dealer who replaced the tipm module (under hood fuse block) .when i picked up truck next the next day i asked why did it burn with no fuses blown? i was told they found nothing else wrong with truck, i may need to check my trailer. This would not explain the fuse not blown.i purchased truck new in 2007 and use ittowing cattle or farm equipment with never a fuse blown in truck in 49,000 miles or 5 years.this is a problem that dealer service advisor could not explain and there was no recall related to fuse block.i checked both my trailers and found no problems, which if there had been that's what fuses are for.i feel my dealer has done all they can but i am not satisfied with the failure of this fuse block.the incident on sept. 24, 2012 would have had a different end had i been inleft lane behind traffic at 55mph and towing five ton with limited braking on truck and none on trailer due to them being electric, also had it been night and the loss of headlights could have made steering around traffic impossible.the fact that this has been reported by other drivers/owners to this somerset dealership makes me think there is a need for dodge to address this problem.

2007 dodge ram 3500.the same issue as with the 2006 model is still present.the multi-function switch malfunctions.left will flash right. Wipers become in-op.this seems to be the same issues with the last investigation, file number pe08059. When i call the dealership to get a replacement part, they are on back order.the dealer has a problem with keeping the part in stock but denies that there is a problem.this problem appears to be intermittent at first and later becomes permanent.it is helpful to other drivers when you signal left that your left signal illuminate and not the right. And visa versa.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge 3500.while driving approximately 60 mph on normal road conditions, a warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained lit until the engine was turned off.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing, but they could not duplicate the failure.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on four separate occasions for identical failures, but there were no resolutions.the contact stated that there were several repairs performed on the vehicle; however, she was uncertain of the components related to the repairs.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 2,000 and current mileage was 60,000.

Electrical fire on computer modular and fuse box causing vehicle to try to start and moved on its own about 150 yards.key was not in the truck, it was parked.when discovered lights were on and windshield wipers & washers was on.batteries had to be disconnected to shut down truck. If truck had not been found when it was it would have burnt to the ground. Truck was towed into dealership three weeks ago.dodge is blaming this problem on the installation of utility bed which was done three years ago by spillards in austin, tx. Which has been installing beds since 1987. We are getting the total run around from dodge!dodge has now replaced the computer modular and now claims both batteries are burnt up due to this problem.this is a safety issue on this truck.it could have created a wreck or killed someone when it went out of control.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500. The contact then disconnected the battery and the engine finally powered down. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the central computer was replaced. Updated 1/14/14the consumer stated one day the vehicle started up by itself while it was parked outside in the driveway. The vehicle hit the consumers other vehicles, and pushed them side by side.the consumer heard the noise and immediately jumped into the truck to try and turn off the ignition, but it was not on. He put the clutch in and took it out of gear, but it just revved up more. The horn was blaring and smoke was boiling out. He turned the vehicle off, by opening the hood and disconnecting the battery. Updated 01/16/14

Tipm issues multiple times replaced wipers, lights, horn all go crazy on 4 separate occasions truck has engaged starter and engine started with no key in ignition. A real safety hazard as the truck is a manual transmission and if left in gear it takes off. I've owned the truck approx 5 years with tipm replaced at least 5 times dealer has no answers. The only way to stop the truck when this starts is to disconnect batteries. Happens with no warning at all. Always wondering where is a safe place to park it and if the next time will be the time it burns to the ground.

2nd time that the a/c compressor motor has stuck and engine started smoking...also egr has been a problem as well as air bags and emergency brake no longer holds the vehicle...

Totally integrated power module has a short causing the right side parking lamps, marker lamps, and right side taillight to blow the fuse every time it is changed. As soon as the lights are turned on, the fuse blows within seconds.

At 35,000 miles the engine quit. I could smell wires burning. The box that holds the fuses melted with no blown fuses. They replaced the box. After 12,000 mores miles the engine quit on the highway and the fuse box caught fire this time. I raised the hood and saw sparks jumping around and a flame in the box with a lot of smoke. I quickly disconnected the battery and put out the fire.

On way to work lost power light to see customer service department on. Stalled, restarted, stalled, called tow trk. Has particulate filter replace @ $2600.00 now 4 months back to dealership for same problem.

Truck died in middle of road, truck would not start .son towed truck out of roadto parking lot. Truck, started again ran 3 days. Pulled out of parking lot , the truck accelerated out of controlled hit brakes a few times and truck died again in middle of road. Started again , truck moved 10 feet and died . Tipm(totally integrated power module ) has failed. Unexpected acceleration scared me considerably. Less experienced driver or my wife would have got scared and crashed.

As i was traveling the highway, my engine starting smoking.i was extremely fortunate that i was coming up on a service center/grocery store in idaho.there was indication on my dash instruments that my truck was operating abnormally, other than the smoke sifting through the hood.upon my pulling over onto the the side, i opened the hood with used of heavy gloves and a towel and checked to see if radiator had fluid as the indicator light had read normal.as expected, coolant spewed out. I immediately closed it and waited for it tobe towed into idaho falls to be checked by a shop that i was familiar with.

Tipm (totally integrated power module) failed, causing vehicles engine to stall at 75mph on freeway. Condition resulted in a "no-start" scenario. Because of this failed tipm, the onboard diagnostic computer has no power, resulting in an inability to diagnose with obdii scan tools. This situation could have resulted in a possibly fatal accident, as the vehicle was in motion at 75mph on a major freeway with moderate traffic. When the vehicle stalled, all power steering and brakes were lost. These parts are prone to failing, but chrysler refuses to accept responsibility. An aftermarket replacement is available at the price of approx. $600, but these parts are special order, and take several days to receive.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500. The contact stated that the controls for the cruise control on the steering wheel did not light up. Loaded at 18000 lbs gvw while towing a tandem axle trailer the vehicle died.upon losing all electrical power the engine died causing the loss of power assisted brakes and power assisted steering.fortunately the speed of the vehicle was around 5 mph.i'm 6 foot tall and over 200 lbs and i was unable to steer the vehicle to the side of the parking area.upon leaving the vehicle i immediately smelled electronics burning.i opened the hood and immediately disconnected the positive post of the totally integrated power module (tipm).i then removed the tipm to find a hole burnt through the side and the circuit board covered with black soot. I had the vehicle and trailer towed to corbin ky where there were no dodge dealers willing to work on a vehicle of this size.nor would they store the trailer for me while conducting the repair.i choose to have the vehicle and trailer towed over 600 miles to my home in michigan.i called my local dealer whom took the vin number to order an new one.after over 2 weeks waiting on the tipm (which turned out to be remanufactured) the truck is still not operable. If i had been traveling at interstate speeds with a loaded vehicle i likely would not have survived this incident. Prior to this happening i had many issues with the lighting on the truck.the low beam on the passenger side would be inoperable while the drivers high beam is the only one that would work.also, the taillights would stop working on one side and the turn signals would flash quickly.not seeing this as a huge safety issue i simply took it the dealer to reflash the tipm.after getting it back with half the lights inoperable, the ac didn't work anymore.now the vehicle is worthless and all sense of security and safety is gone.i can no longer confidently take my family anywhere in this vehicle.

Power distribution box underneath fuse box melts down and smokes excessively.problem comes without warning while driving.in a matter of 30 seconds the dash lights go out and motor dies, driver loses power steering and power brakes and is extremely hard to control, keeping in mind this is a heavy duty truck made for commercial work, in my case i use it for hauling implement equipment and various steel products.the march 15th incident was the third time this has happened.during the last time the windshield washer pump turned on and pumped fluid on the windshield making it virtually impossible to see.problem was not diagnosed first two times to the shop, only a replacement part was installed.problem occurs about every 12,000 miles.

The motor suddenly died and the windshield washer started spraying , the windshield wipers started operating and lost power steering.i finally coasted the truck into a vacant lot and stopped. Smoke was boiling from under the hood.i opened the hood and found the fuse box(tipm module) smoking.i rushed to my tool box for tools and at that time the truck motor started cranking and trying to start even with the key out of the ignition.luckily the truck was not in gear and i finally got all battery cables unhooked from both batteries.also the horn was honking intermittently as if the theft alarm was activated.as of today (6-9-14) this has happened four (4) times.

I can go over a slightly raised area in the pavement and my truck goes into the death wobble.i had in to the dealer for over a week for them to ck and repair.they tell me everything in the front end looks ok and i just needed new tires.replace the tires and still have the same problem.i am afraid to even drive on the houston,tx freeway which i drive over 400 miles per wk.

This vehicle has been maintained according to the manual perfectly and in most cases maintenance done before required.on the date above i was driving home and the vehicle lost power.since i was 2 hours from home i had to have it towed to the local dealer.their repair order indicates that all 6 injectors, the dpf, crankcase breather filter, thermostat, ox sensor and 2 temp sensors must be replaced. In addition, the entire fuel system needs to be cleaned out including all filters, air and fuel and oil changed and filter.the bottom line is that all this work will cost me $7500.this truck has too little mileage to need all this work.this was supposed to be the last truck i would own figuring the cummins engine's reputation.interested in whether this truck is an aberration or is it similar to trucks with the first clean burning engine?

While towing a fifthwheel trailer i noticed smoke in the cabin and stopped the truck.upon opening the hood i found a fire at the firewall on the right side behind the engine. Failing to be able to extinguish the flames i separated the truck and trailer and pushed the truck away from the trailer and dialed 911.the truck was a total lose and after contacting dodge i was told that my truck had already had the recall performed (08v641000) and that they had never had any further problems with these vehicles.clearly the recall failed to correct the problem at the very least in this case. Chrysler sent an inspector ([xxx]) out to investigate and inspect the truck, his report stated that there were no material defects found.i have a copy of that report if you need. Diesel, 5.9while driving at 50mph the check engine light illuminated and shortly there after the engine stopped running all together.i was able to safely stop the pickup along the shoulder of the roadway.i noticed the smell of diesel fuel and the left side of the engine was covered in diesel.after my pickup was towed home i researched the symptom and discovered i wasn't alone with this issue.it seems the bolt that holds a clamp around the fuel line to the number four cylinder backs out allowing movement or vibration to this fuel line and a leak develops in the high pressure line and diesel fuel to spray into the engine. In addition to the potential fire hazard from the diesel fuel the sudden loss of power is very concerning.i found several posts on forums regarding this same issue.the parts guy at cummins said he has sold as many as 6-7 of these fuel lines per month.i can only imagine how many fuel lines were sold at the dodge dealerships around the unites states.

Twice while pushing the accelerator pedal, the diesel engine went full throttle on its own and would not stop. The only way to stop it was to turn off the key which is extremely dangerous. The last time it went to 80 mph before i could shut off the key.

I was driving my truck across country and the power downgraded. I took it to a dodge service dept and they told me my exhaust catalytic system was 90% plugged and it would cost over $6000 to replace it, but because of the nationwide problem with the catalytic system, there would be at least a 2 week wait to get the parts. I managed to drive it back to my home dodge service dept. They gave me the same prognosis but only ordered a particulate filter, costing over $3000. Again, because of the high demand, i had to wait for the backordered part. I was also told that because of the faulty catalytic system, there would be carbon buildup on the egr valve, exhaust brake, and turbo that would suffer damage and would need to be cleaned regularly, taking a mechanic over 6 hours of labor to do so each time at a rate of $80/hr. This repair took place on 9-2-08. Then 9 days later, i was driving down an interstate highway when the truck shut itself down. Luckily, it was late and there was no traffic accident as i managed to barely roll onto the shoulder. I had to be towed to the nearest dodge service dept and they determined that the catalytic was clogged again, charging me another $3000 to replace a part, and taking another 6 hours to clean my turbo and drill a port into it for future cleaning. I was told that drilling a hole into the turbo was dodges quick remedy to the catalytic system causing carbon buildup on the turbo. On 12-7-08, my exhaust brake stopped working and as of 12-9-08 the dodge service dept is replacing the $2000 turbo/ exhaust brake, damaged because of carbon buildup due to the faulty catalytic system.

I have a 2007.5 dodge ram 3500 4x4 quad cab with a 6.7 cummins and an auto. 6 speed trans. I have since i owned it have a problem with it getting exhaust fumes in the cab when i come off the hwy and have to sit at a light for very long. With the a/c on or in the re circulate mode it does not do it but in defrost or heat / vent mode you can hardly stand it almost makes you loose lunch. I have in every way i can tried to get chrysler to address it but to no avail. They just sent out a letter saying that the system is working the way it is suppose to and we are not changing it there is no fix...

Emissions, co sensor & carbon filter 2007 dodge diesel 6.7 l, apparently there have been several of these go through the dealerships in utah, first the check engine light comes on then take in to have it checked, first time it was a co detector second time in less than 2,000 miles the carbon filter on a diesel truck. First year that they have put these on. It causes poor fuel economy. 11.5 mpg on a diesel engine that is engineered to be fuel efficient. The regeneration sensor did not kick it into regeneration to burn the carbon off the filter they had to replace it. Cost $2200 for the dealership still under warranty. This is what the epa has mandated for diesel trucks. Some one had better get this right because it is wasting more fuel and causing greater failures on these new diesel exhaust systems.if after market manufactures can produce exhaust systems and computer software that gives 22 mpg. Then the companies that produce the trucks can also. 11.9 to 22mpg is almost 90% increase in fuel economy. Who is ripping us off the epaor the car companies.

Safety issue. Lack of key lock on passenger door. I got out of my vehicle without shifting to park. I was on the passenger side when vehicle started moving. I had a door key but was unable to use it for lack of lock. I was unable to get to the driver side to prevent accident. No injuries but there could have been and even deaths.

My truck shifted itself in 4wd low while going 75 mph down the interstate which destroyed my transfer case and transmission and caused my drive shaft to come loose which i feel is a very dangerous defect as it could have rolled my truck. I have found others that have had this happen apparentlybecause of a electronic transfer case motor reading the wrong signal and shifting into low range whether the truck is moving or even running. It's something that shouldn't happen especially with a manual 4wd shifter

2007 dodge cummins 6.7 diesel 6 speed manual transmission 4x4front housing of transmission shattered while driving highway speedsonly 2 bolts left holding transmission to enginepull long flat bed trailerif transmission had come all the way off truck would have rolled and death would have occured.

While traveling on the highway, when i'm at highway speeds and i hit a bump in the road the entire front end of the truck shakes and bounces uncontrollably until i slow to around50 mph. I have had ball joints, tie rods, shocks and steering stabilizer replaced, plus new tires and multiple alignments performed. My master mechanic said non of this will remedy the issue.the y type steering setup is the problem, the dealer told me it needs to be updated to the 09 steering but it's not covered under recall. Yet you can no longer even buy the y steering from the dealer the will only sell you the 09 t style. How is this ok? i do not have $265.00 to pay for just the parts never mind labor, because the p.o.s. Transmission needed replace"$7500.00" like every other 47re in the world.also 3 out of my 6 seat belts no longer retract or they get stuck halfway out and it takes 10 minutes to get it to work.i would like to at least have the steering and seat belts addressed asap. Thank you for your time. Sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Axle broke and took out transfer box and stearing linkage while driving normally down the freeway .

A vibration occurs when driving at highway speed (above 65 mph) seems to lighten up at 75 mph but does not disappear. The vibration feels to be coming from the rear of the vehicle. Tires were rebalanced and rotated with no cure. New tires were purchased, rotated and rebalanced twice with no cure. I have found several complaints on the internet for this same issue. The following are similar complaints that have posted on websites concerning this vibration. Dodge seems to completely deny all knowledge of this problem. A small list of the websites with complaints listed are: www.dieseltruckresource.com, www.justanswer.com, www.dieselbombers.com, dodgeforum.com, www.ramforumz.com, www.cumminsforum.com. Please help to get dodge to recognize and repair this problem which could be potentially fatal if the vibration causes a vital piece of equipment to loosen, fall off and cause a serious accident.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500 . The contact statedwhile driving down a hill at approximately 40 mph, the transmission erroneously shifted into low range. The failure caused the vehicle to suddenly decelerate and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the gear shifter was faulty. The gear shift was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The failure mileage was 17,000.

I have has three clutches go out on my 1 ton dodge dually in less than 3,000 miles in a 6 week period of time an the first time the fly wheel came apart and flew in to the clutch and took it out thy said it was not my fault the second tim they said it was my fault but then the service manager looked at it and said it was enthe said that the did not replace the pressure plate the first time and tat it was the reason the clutch went out the second time but just to make sure he and my sales mantook a ride with me to make sure that i was not doing any thing to cause my clutch to go outand they both said that my driving was fine it went out a third time and they said i was riding the clutch and are refusing to honor my warranty i have talked to several transmission shops and several mechanics and they have all said some thing is major wrong that i should not be able to tear that truck up in that short of a time with that few a miles on it i have the incident forms i yall want i can email them to yall.

This problem cross multiple years of the dodge ram 2500-3500 series of pickups. The front seat belts have an overactive pre-tensioner, which if traveling on a rough, gravel, or a simple bump/crack, or even turning a corner activate and continues to tighten and restrict the driver and passenger from moving. If on a rough or gravel road, the tightness of the seatbelts get to the point of having to remove them during driving, allow them to retract, pull back out, and rebuckle, only to repeat a few minutes later.the tightness also constrains the movement of the driver meaning that he/she is to tightly locked to the seat because of the overactive pre-tensioners it makes driving the vehicle unsafe.in some cases the belts become so tight that the only option is to remove them and ride without them, which is against the law, but the only option when traveling on a rough or gravel road.these belts should not act this way, and the pre-tensioner should only activate in a forward moving sudden stop, not under normal driving conditions.i have tried to address the situation with dodge, but without success.the issue is being discussed on a dodge truck/cummins engine forum in this thread:http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/6-7-liter-general-discussion/490020-overactive-seat-belt-pre-tensioner.html#post5047830.

The seat belt will not release. You are stuck in the seat until a screw driver or another devise is used to let you out. This has caused us to leave the seat belt latched but we are no longer secured in it. It's the law that i must wear a seat belt but i am scared no one will be around to release me from the seat belt.the front driver seat does not recline easily. If it is reclined and i want the seat to come forward it gets stuck and takes numerous tries to get it straight.

Purchased van from dealer.while driving the next day, front brakes started to squeal rather loudly.this continued and got louder....the van sounded like a school bus.i took the van over to the dealer because now there was a lot of brake dust on the front tire rims.i was informed that this was a problem and i couldn't be helped with the issue.my brakes are wearing down quickly and squeal loudly.there is so much brake dust that my rims look black if not washed.i feel that dodge/crysler should replace my brake pads free of charge and check my rotors for wear and replace if necessary also free of charge since this is a standing issue.if my brakes fail, this may cause a serious accident.also, it is rather embarrassing to drive a new van that dodge is trying to promote and it sounds like this.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500.the contact stated that the vehicle had two computers fail and was on the path of losing another.he also stated that the windshield wipers would remain upright and dump all the windshield wiper fluid on the windshield, causing poor visibility.in addition, the engine would completely shut down without warning while driving 60 mph.the vehicle would also move without the engine running and the key in the ignition.the contact further stated that the brakes and turn signals would malfunction.the dealer stated that nothing could be done.daimler chrysler informed him to reference the lemon law for assistance.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 44,000 and failure mileage was 1.

I have had a 03 ram 2500, 04 ram 3500, and 07 ram 3500. I have experienced a death wobble numerous times with each vehicle at all highway speeds after hitting pot holes and bumps. It violently shakes the whole truck until you reduce the speed to 30-40 mph. It feels like the truck will lose control and shake off the road. I have heard numerous complaints and feel this issue needs to be addressed by chrysler before someone gets hurt or killed. I have taken each truck into the dealership three times to be looked at and they said nothing was wrong with it.

Ignition will not crank. We have 2 keys for it, neither works the first time. Takes 10-30 minutes to get the key to turn. I have seen there are recalls for ignitions for the same year, make and model as ours. Our vin does not come up as having the recall.

Today while pulling into a parking stall i had a catastrophic steering failure.the drivers side steering tie rod stud fractured where it bolts into the knuckle.the tie rod dropped between the tire and suspension causing loss of steering control and the left wheel was no longer connected to the linkage.i searched several dodge enthusiast forums and it seems other owners have experienced similar failures.this truck was serviced approx 2 years ago at a local dodge dealership and the entire steering linkage was replaced because of loose and knocking steering when turning. The incident today required me to have the truck towed to my residence pending research and possible repair. This vehicle has not been involved in any situation where the steering linkage would have been damaged. I inspected the broken stud and it appears to have had a catastrophic failure of the metal.any direction or assistance would be appreciated.

I am experiencing the 'death wobble' when i hit a bump in the road. Front of vehicle wobbles and shakes dangerously and only stops when i slow down. Happens when driving the vehicle on any street or highway. I read information about steering or tie rods/stabilization being ineffective on 1999-2008 model trucks. Can this be repaired/fixed and will the cost be covered by the manufacturer?

Heard noise coming from the left front wheel area so took it into a non dodge dealership and was told that my tie rods on both sides were completely shot and needed to be replaced. I was told by dodge that they had a kit to replace both sides because it was a known problem but that there was no recall. Had pretty much the whole front steering done. The technician who worked out it said it was so bad that my steering could have gone out at any minute. That is really terrifying since i have a family and we tow a trailer with quads. To top it all off dodge chrysler said they will only possibly reimburse me for the part but no labor since a ford dealership did the work even though i called dodge ahead of time and there was no recall. The report date on nhtsa says 11/6/13 so i am confused why dodge didn't know it was coming since apparently several people did on the internet.

I made a right turn into a parking lot and the passenger tie rod broke. My truck was towed to the dodge dealer. Updated steering linkage installed.

We received a recall notice for the truck in the beginning of january 2014 concerning the left tie rod and the potential fracture of the left ball stud on the tie rod.we called our dealer, [xxx], right away and were told to call back the following month as they were too busy with other recall repairs and would not make an appointment for us.we called back the first of feb and made an appointment to have the truck repaired on feb 14.when i drove to the dealer they just looked at it and said it did need repaired and said they would put me on the list.i said that we were told it would be fixed.they said they had to order the part and it would be a couple of weeks.after 3 weeks we called them and they finally told us that the parts that chrysler ordered did not fit and that they would be ordering new parts.the following month we called the chrysler hotline and could get no answers.we asked it we should not drive the truck.the woman said "i did not say that" and that was pretty much all she would say.she did say that we could have it fixed on our own and send the bill to chrysler and that they were slow to pay, 60 to 90 days.we called the dealer again and they said they could not fix it and we could take it to our own mechanic.they advised not driving the truck.no more notices have been received. We paid $40k for this truck used and we haul horses with it.we need it.we took it to our mechanic.he said the complete design of the steering linkage was "mickey mouse" and he could not believe they used a steel tube in lieu of rod steel for the main steering rod.he said he ordered some replacement parts for the left side but they would not fit into the remaining pieces.he said it looks like the entire thing needs to be replaced.he said he is not sure how to proceed with it.we are desperate and need the use of this truck.please help.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Power steering hose developed a leak where it rubbed on the frame/body and the power steering gearbox developed a leak at the output shaft.this allowed all the fluid to leak out loosing power steering. Not knowing you had lost the assist until you tried to turn could cause you to run off the road or hit another vehicle.also the fluid actuates the brake booster causing you to loose brake assist which makes it difficult to stop as it is very hard to overcome the forces of the hydraulic booster holding the brake pedal which could cause an accident. The repair shop had a hard time finding a hose as it is a dealer item and they didn't stock it. They had a hard time finding a gearbox also but finally found a remanufactured one.new ones were not available.

As with many others on this web site, randomly after hitting a bump in the road my truck starts to bounce uncontrollably almost running of the road.i have to slow down to a crawl to make it stop.how many people have to complain for this to become a real issue.

The right front tire,a general ameritrac 235/80r/17,which is the original spare tire that was put on just a couple of months before, started to shake. I went to local tire store to get a new one installed. They did not have any so i was on my way home. Its about 8 miles each way to this store from my home. On the way home, this tire blew up like it had a bomb in it! the disintegrating tire destroyed my running board, fender flair and dented the trucks fender.i didn't have a spare,so i used the trucks tire tools (another issue)and took one of the rear duals off of the back and put in on the front to get home.after a trip to the tire store, they would replace or adjust this tire,so i had to buy a new one.well just the other day that tire started to shake too.after running 70 mph on the interstate, and having tire issues with the same general tires,i was quick to get off an exit ramp to see what was making my truck shake.i quickly noticed that the left front tire was coming apart like the other one had done.so i did the same as before,i took a dual wheel off and put in the steer position.this tire was coming apart and i caught it before it blew too. Upon removal i about fell over when i seen a bulge in this tire on the inside where the tread and sidewall meet. This bulge was the size of a large grapefruit!these tires have 16/32 tread when new. The one that was coming apart still has 13/32 tread.barely worn. The dealer has offered to pro rate the tire.thats ok. But what about the damage the other had done to my truck? i guess im out of luck??these general tires obviously have safety issues that need looked into. The tire dealer and general tire (and myself) are lucky there weren't any injuries as when the first tire blew at 50 mph,i had my hands full keeping my truck under control. Had i had my trailer behind me with a load on it going 70 mph, there would have been one hell of a wreck.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500. The contact received a recall notice. While driving approximately 72 mph, the vehicle began to shake nonstop. The dealer stated that no repairs were needed. Death wobble 2007 dodge 3500 75,000 miles have replaced everything.

While driving at highway speeds (65mph or greater) my 2007 dodge ram 3500 will suddenly begin to shake violently after an uneven surface in the road is struck.this has happened several times over the course of the past 2 years.the only "fix" action is to slow the vehicle by releasing the gas pedal and applying the brake.i have taken the vehicle into the dealer to have it inspected for a safety recall involving the steering and was told there was nothing wrong.i took the vehicle into a second dealership after this last episode of "death wobble" and was told that the tie rods, and steering dampening shock needed to be replaced.the vehicle is still under warranty and the dealership is in the process of ordering the parts to replace the tie rods and steering dampening shock.for information purpose, the vehicle is located in germany and is driven on autobahn's with highway speeds greater than the u.s.

The left tie rod ball stud fractured.

I had received a recall notice n62/ nhtsa 13v-528. I called dealer numerous times to set up an appointment to have the vehicle checked. The dealer stated that i was on a waiting list for the part. It has been a few years and numerous calls later and the vehicle part still has not been checked and or repaired.

We bought the truck out of state from the chrysler dealership in bonham tx and they claimed it was a low mileage truck, with no issues.it had been purchased new from them, all services done and then traded-in for a new truck. We asked to have an outside inspector check it out but was unable to locate one from the small town area within the allotted time they wanted us to pick it up. When we went to get the truck, it went for a short text ride and then completed paperwork and rushed out the door.we had assumed that the dealer did a complete overall inspection and repair of any issues with the truck. On our way back to ca the truck water pump had broke causing the serpentine belt to fall off and loose steering almost causing the truck to wreck.we towed it to a repair facility where they fixed the pump and told us that there may also be a transmission issue.so the next day we went to the closest chrysler dealership to have it checked out. They ok'ed the trans and we purchased an chrysler warranty (because of the low miles & year) since we had bought it from a dealer (in tx) the truck was eligible for 48k/4 yrs coverage.a few days (2.4k miles later) the "check engine light" came on.we asked our local dealer to check the truck out to see what other issues it may have. The code was for the cam positioning sensor (covered by the warranty) and the dealer found other items including: needing new brakes all around, 4x drivetrain service, injector flush, air, fuel and oil filters that i have to pay for.the main issue:the front end with a bad steering box, tie rod ends and upper/lower ball joints need to be replaced.the chrysler rep said it is an pre-existing condition and won't cover the parts/labor.both the warranty issuing dealership and my local dealership told me they would not have sold the truck in that condition.are these covered under a recall?

Truck steering and suspension shake when traveling over bumps or traveling at certain speeds.multiple mechanics have explained that the entire front end of the truck is unsafe.after finding that this is such a common occurrence with ram trucks, it seems that the issue has been covered up by dodge as they will not assist in the cost to replace the faulty geometry that causes sloppy steering components.they recommended that i replace the tie rod and damper, and yet they recommended replacing it with a completely upgraded part that will be very expensive to fix.i also can not get this part because it currently has a recall on the part, so i am stuck without being able to fix my truck.

When hitting a bump or dip in the road at 65 mph or higher the steering wheel begins shaking violently. I'm told it is referred to as the "death wobble".

I lost control of my vehicle and nearly crashed.this is the third time this has happened.it seemed as if a tire had blown, but that was not the case.i now am told that the tie rods need to be replaced.dodge and two independent mechanics have told me it is due to "failed tie rods" not connected with chrysler's notification code h46.dodge should issue a recall notice on this issue, as it appears to have happened to many others many times, and someone is going to be seriously injured or killed.it is referred to as the dodge death wobble.

My husband and i were driving down south padre island drive and the truck started shaking from the front end. My husband lost control of the steering wheel and could not control nor stop the shaking of the truck. He had to slow down and steer to the side of the road. We hit a small pole and the rear bed was hit. My arms and legs were pretty banged up and bruised, so i sought medical attention. Every since the incident happened, our truck has not been moved because it will not pass inspection due to the steering and losing control problem. The truck shakes real bad and feels like it is falling apart when this problem occurs. So therefore, it can not be driven because of this problem. We took it in to the dodge dealership after it happened and they denied helping us and test driving it to see for themselves that the truck does start to shake and lose control while being driven. So every since this incident, our truck has been parked and my husband took it in to make some previous repairs and those repairs were and have been unsuccessful because the truck still does the same thing while either i am driving it or my husband is driving it or anybody else is driving it.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500. Without warning, the front driver side tire fractured while traveling approximately 40 mph. The steering wheel wobbled excessively and the vehicle was unstable when the failure occurred. The vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to a repair shop. The mechanic diagnosed that the control arms and driver side tie rod fractured. The mechanic indicated that both tie rods needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 13v528000 (steering), 11v350000 (steering), 10e013000 (steering), and 07e009000 (suspension). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The failure mileage was not available.

Right outer tie rod end fell apart causing loss of steering. Vehicle pulled hard left however i was able to safely stop without hitting anything. The truck did not show any early warnings and hadregular preventive maintenance. I did keep the failed part and that of my fathers, which failed about 5 weeks after mine. That makes a 100% failure rate of the same part on our two trucks which is very disturbing! as soon as we are able we are going to replace all factory tie rod ends on these trucks. Our dodge dealer had inspected the left side of this truck in july and said it was safe.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

While driving my 2007 dodge 3500 ram 6.7l dual, 6spd manual, pulling my camper (well within towing limits,) i went over a bump on an overpass. The vehicle began jumping around violently and i left the roadway due to loss of steering and brake function. The even was so violent, my radiator broke, and i lost all of my coolant. My "front end" was destroyed, as well as many systems damaged. The interior of the truck suffered damage as well. There are many noises, vibrations, and smells that have not gone away. I found out that this is a problem so common, that it has a nickname, "the death wobble." i found out that there is a safety recall beginning the year after my model. After some research, my model year has the same parts described in the affected model years. This is a common occurrence, seemingly well known to dodge. I was told by a certified shop that it is not safe to drive. They showed me several aftermarket parts designed to eliminate this problem. The steering system alone was quoted at $3,000 to repair. The radiator was disturbingly expensive. My exhaust system was damaged and parts of it fell off. There is an exhaust leak. Not to mention, that i almost flew off of an overpass.my truck has been babied its entire life, and looks new. When i contacted dodge, they were unwilling to help. I told them that this is the same problem covered by the recall in vehicles containing all of the affected part numbers as mine. I told them that i could have been killed in this event, and that the problem has persisted to the point where it is unsafe to drive. The repairs for the directly affect damages could be nearing $10,000 according to the certified shop it was brought to. This doesn't account for components that had a reduction in lifespan from this event. I just want my front end repaired so that i can drive or sell it. Haven't used my camper since.

Vehicle begins shaking violently cause loss of control.i have to come to a complete stop to regain control of the vehicle.no mechanics or dodge service centers know what is causing the problem.i have spent over $2000 to have things replaced and problem has not been fixed.this is a very dangerous problem.i have searched the internet for solutions.all i have found are other people with this problem an no one knows how to fix it!

We have replaced two steering gear boxes on this 2007 dodge ram 3500.we called several dodge dealers for areplacement box but they said that they are back- ordered and would be a three week wait if they can even get one since they have about 1,013 on back orders as of yesterday.we were informed that this gear box is the same one thatis used on the mercedes benz automobiles.now there isalot of difference between a car and a very heavy duty 1 ton truck.they really didnt think this one out,it is a real safty problem.my husband was turning from the highway to the side street when it broke ,this was the second one we put on it only had 213 miles on it.dodge must be aware of it as the dealers have told us it is a problem he had to wait for traffic to let him make a wide turn onto the oncoming lane of traffic.we have a 2003 dodge ram pu with the same gear box and i drive it all the time and now i am thinking if this would happen to me i do not think i could have the strenght to avoid a serious problem, on the open highway it would be horrible.this is the vehicle i use to transport our severly handicapped son now i am concerned for our safty as well as others with these trucks please look into this problem thank-you.

I received recalls on my vehicle for air bag and steering linkage replacement.when i contacted the dealer to set up the appointment for the recall fixes.i was told they did not have both parts so the appointment was set for about 4-5 weeks later.when the vehicle was taken to the dealership the air bag recall was fixed but they refused to fix the recall on the steering linkage.they stated my truck had the "old dodge part" so that was not covered.this part if fails will cause me to have no steering control.i had a chrysler certified mechanic look at the steering part on my truck and he stated it was so bad he would be scared to drive the vehicle.so even though the steering part is bad to the point of being dangerous dodge is claiming this is not covered under the recall.why would i receive a recall notice?

I was driving at 60mph and hit a bump and that's when the front end started to shake so bad i had to stop and get out to see if i had a flat but now after doing my ownresearchon a lot offorum a lot of the dodge rams have what thayer call the death wobble and it does scare u to death when it happens! dodge has always had weak front end so on there big trucks! to much engine too light of a front end! very few dodge 2500 and 3500 owners get 100,000 miles of them before parts have to be replaced (ball joints and sway bars) i love my dodges but hate the weak front ends! i do have video of the shake. Thanks

I was driving on the ih 45 service in houston, tx. Without warning the right tierod end fell off. This caused the truck to make a hard left turn hitting a metro buss. Trucked crossed over seam in roadway and started to shake ie shimmy so bad as to make it very difficult to maintain control of the truck i replaced the track bar with a new part problem still there.felt like might be on the right side so i changed the right tie rod end problem still there.i checked air pressure in tires still no relief from dodge death wobble. Checked online found a ad for a steering box stabilizer ordered it and installed it seems to of had the most effect still has a slight wobble do not know what the final fix is.

Death shake! i was driving on highway ,@ 65 mph hit brake in bridge, truck shook uncontrollably had to slow down and pull over to get it to stop ,it caused me to shake myself,if it doesn't kill me ,i may have a heart attack that's how scary it is ! which alot of you out there already know. Dodge needs to address this immediately! what's worse is my son was in the truck and there was a semi behind me,its amazing how we weren't rammed by the semi! i bought this truck to haul horses ,that wont happen until this problem is fixed! so therefore it defeats the purpose of buying this quite expensive truck!

The contact replaced the cable, the winch, the tire, and pulley. The manufacturer advised was contacted but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 64,500 and the current mileage was 65,238. ....updated 12/03/12

During travel on interstate 40 at exit 56, drivers side front tire separated causing damage to inner fender, windshield washer electrical components, and fender and nearly causing catastrophic loss of vehicle control and loss of life of an entire family. All tires were at the proper inflation and temperature range at the time of the incident.with only 20,000 miles on the tire, this seems to be manufactured defect from the general tire company. I no longer consider general tires to be a reliable product and will research and seek replacements from other reputable tire companies.i do recommend product recall of the ameritrac lt235/80r17 tire line as well as product safety compliance inspections of the general tire company.

Truck #1front end starts to wobble uncontrollably and will not stop until vehicle is under 20 miles hrtruck #2 same issue.

New 2007 dodge ram 3500 slt 4x4automatic symptoms include excessive wandering, play in the steering, vibration and wheel shimmy. On the expressway on 60m/h when we where passing another car we almost lost of steering control.

I was driving and hit a bumpy place in the road and the whole truck started shaking uncontrollably.i had to stop on the freeway before i could get it under control.we took it to the dealership where we purchased it and they said there is nothing wrong with it.we have since done research and found this problem to affect alot of these vehicles.to those that experience it we call it "the death wobble" because there is nothing you can do except stop and hope you don't get into an accident.

Thanks

Death wobble even after replaceing the front end components. This has been going on for years.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500.while driving over a bump in the road at 65 mph, the vehicle shakes uncontrollably.on january 17, 2008, the contact lost control of the vehicle and slid into a ditch.he was able to get back on the road and drive to his residence.the contact stated that he will trade in his vehicle because he experienced the same failure with his previous 2007 dodge ram.he further stated that he will continue to trade in his vehicles until he gets one without a failure.the manufacturer was notified and stated that someone will return his call.the current mileage was 10,200 and failure mileage was 10,000.

When hitting a bump or dip in the road at 65 mph or higher the steering wheel begins shaking violently. I'm told it is referred to as the "death wobble".

Death wobble 2007 dodge 3500 75,000 miles have replaced everything.

Vehicle shook violently after hitting small bump with right front tire at 50 mph.extremely hard to maintain control of vehicle.had to slow to under 30 mph to get shaking to stop and regain control of vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500. While driving at approximately 70 mph over a bump in the road, the vehicle began to vigorously shake without warning. The contact downshifted to slow the vehicle down. The failure recurred on several occasions at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v528000 (steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the front passenger side tire had to be replaced four times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated and the suspension was unstable. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 13v528000 (steering); however, the parts were unavailable. The dealer was unable to provide a specific date as to when the parts would become available. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel began to jerk from side to side. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was a certified mechanic who replaced the power steering box, the power steering pump, the long arm, the short arm, and the pitman arms, and the stabilizer shocks but the failure recurred. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000. The vin was not available.

Death wobbles

We have a dodge ram with the death wobble it has gotten so bad we are scared to drive it started happening at 20,000mi.has gotten worse as time goes on . Was happening at 80 mi per hr now it can happen at 50 mi per hr.this should be recalled but instead dodge is making money on it per it's very expensive to fix. Please help need to fix it but dont have the money right now to do so. Havent had a accident yet thank god but have come soooooooo close .

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact experienced difficulty in controlling the steering. The vehicle was driven to the side of the road and towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the front drivers side tie rod would need to be replaced; however the part was discontinued. In order to repair the vehicle the entire front suspension would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 95,067. The vin was unavailable.

I also experienced the horrible death wobble of the front suspension at a speed of 65mph. The vehicle started shaking out of control after i crossed over an expantion joint at the start of a bridge and was increasing in the velocity of the shaking . The vehicle was uncontrollable during the wobblei almost lost control. I reduced my speed by releasing the gas pedal without applying the breaks and it settled down at 30 mph. This was extremely dangerous and could have cause death or serious injury.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500. While driving in reverse 5 mph the left front tie rod fell off. He stopped and investigated the failure. He stated a local mechanic replaced the tie rod assembly. He reference recall07e009000, suspension and stated that the recall work was performed by the dealer this year. The contact was very upset that the vehicle had failed again. The failure mileage was 220,570 and the current mileage was 220,623.

The front end of my 2007.5 dodge ram 3500 will shake violently when you hit a bump in the road. Its happened numerous times and seems to be worse at higher speeds.the only way to stop it is to slow down quickly .not to safe when on a major highway. Gets a lot worse if i am pulling a trailer and feel that sooner or latera accident will happen. Its nicknamed the death wobble. And has been going on for years with numerous year dodge rams. Just do a internet search on the subject. Dodge knows about it but is not correcting the problem.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500 quadcab. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle started to shake very violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised her that the front axle and the ball joints would need to be replaced. The components were replaced yet the failure recurred within several hours. The dealer was then contacted but they were unable to locate the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500.while driving 60 mph, the passenger side wheel locked up and caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle.the trailer that he was hauling in the rear turned over.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the hub bearings and the spindle bearings failed.the vehicle is currently being repaired.the manufacturer stated that no compensation would be provided because the vehicle was not included in any recalls.the vin was unavailable.the failure and current mileages were 114,000.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500.while driving 65 mph, the vehicle would sway right to left when towing a trailer.the dealer stated that the rear end link bar snapped.the part was on back order.as of august 10, 2007, the dealer has not repaired the vehicle.the failure and current mileages were 19,000.

Truck shakes so violently after hitting a bump and going 50mph or greater. I have to slow down to almost a complete stop before it stops shaking. It has happened many times.

Ignition will not crank. We have 2 keys for it, neither works the first time. Takes 10-30 minutes to get the key to turn. I have seen there are recalls for ignitions for the same year, make and model as ours. Our vin does not come up as having the recall.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge 3500. The contact stated he started the vehicle and placed the gears in drive, depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle abnormally accelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs. The contact stated he had experienced the failure previously and had an exhaust flush performed on the vehicle to correct the failure but to no avail. The dealer advised the contact not to allow the vehicle to idle to prevent the failure. On a separate occasion, the vehicle abnormally accelerated causing the contact to crash into a barbed wire fence and into a ditch. The vehicle was left in possession of the dealer for repairs. The contact confirmed the failure would occur intermittently. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000 and the approximate current mileage was 86,000.the vin was not available

The contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 3500.the contact stated that his vehicle has been in the shop 4-5 times.while driving 3 mph, the vehicle moved uncontrollably and would accelerate, even when the accelerator pedal was not depressed.the contact stated that it seemed as if the accelerator pedal was depressed to the floorboard.the dealer repaired the vehicle on numerous occasions.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 4,500 and failure mileage was 1,400.

We were driving in a heavy rain when the windshield wipers stopped.after tuning the control knob several times the wipers came on again but operated erratically, continued to run when the switch was turned off, not start when turned on, no intermittent operation. The windshield washer also did not work.if the wipers did stop when turned off they stayed up on the windshield obscuring the view.the next day the wipers were a little more reliable.after 4 days of being dry the wipers are working normally.

8/6/2010 4:30 pm cedartown, gastorm approaching and rain begins.windshield wipers will only work in slow speed.blade speed would not keep up with rainfall.pulled over to prevent crash.new switch installed on 8/13/10.

Wiper motor assembly fell apart while driving on freeway during rain storm.almost crashed before getting to side of road.faulty linkage components from manufacture, dealer carries a complete replacement assembly in stock which they replace at a high cost to me.1997 dodge ram 3500 larimie diesel 65k miles. I would like to recommend a safety recall before someone is killed due to failure of wiper system. The dealer did not want to give me the faulty part so i purchased the new part, had a independant garage repace it and have kept the faulty assembly for future litagation if necessary.
