Electric seat fire, safety fuse failed to blow. Fuse block melted, seat motor shorted out, wiring harness burned into fire wall, across carpet, and under seat into foam padding. Truck was parked in driveway, and was not on. Problem occurred in the middle of the night, and had not been driven on that day. Upon investigation it was found that the original seat wiring harness had been improperly installed at the plant. Chrysler has inspected the truck and denied any liability, and has failed to offer any customer assistance. Yet on 2-20-2008 their parts manager admitted that they had rerouted the new wiring harness where it was supposed to go, and further electrical issues are still occurring. I have been without a truck for 6 weeks now, and my state farm insurance is having to cover an obvious manufacture flaw.
2000 dodge ram 3500 quad cab/electric seat wiring harness fire. Safety fuse failed, thus resulting in smoldering fire between seat foam and along carpet below the seat. Harness was installed over metal frame, and compromised when anyone would set on the set. Over time the protective coating wore off and the wiring grounded out on seat frame. We got up one morning only to find the truck filled with smoke, and were unable to locate the reason. I continued to use the truck occasionally, even though i had no dash lights, radio, dome lights, etc... Finally one day about 2-3 weeks later i happened to lean on the side of the seat and saw a burned place. Upon further investigation, i was able trace a fire trail. I drove the truck to the dealership where i bought it, and was told they couldn't help me. That i would have to fix it myself. I returned home with the truck and contacted an electrician to come look at the truck for me. He took one look at the damage and said that it was a faulty wiring job from the factory, and he was not able to help me. He suggested i contact the dealership. So i returned with the truck and contacted chrysler customer service with the 800 number i was given. Both chrysler and my state farm agent said the truck was unsafe and not to drive it until a representative from chrysler inspected the truck. State farm's adjuster was not allowed to see the truck until after chrysler finished their 'investigation'. I received a letter 1/18/2008 from chrysler absolving them of any liability, or defect. I feel that something is very wrong here and would appreciate someone checking into this. Before some is seriously injured.

My complaint concerns my vehicle and several thousand others that belong to members of the turbo diesel register. The reason im writing is in hopes that we can get a safety issue addressed, and corrected once and for all. There has been a repeated trend over several years now concerning the lift pump (fuel transfer pump) utilized in the 2500/3500 cummins diesel application. I am a member of the failed lift pump club and have experienced this lift pump failure on my 2000 3500 dodge ctd. This failure causes the truck to loose power and sometimes die.this can be life threatening if the truck owner is on the highway towing a loaded trailer.i how own a 2002 3500 ctd and would like this design problem corrected.i am not alone in this concern, there are thousands of 1998.5 - 2002, 24 valve cummins turbo diesel owners that are concerned and have complained to dodge about this problem with no resolution.this can be documented by going to the turbo diesel register on the web. Http://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75368&perpage=15&pagenumber=2. *nlm
I drove my 2000 dodge 3500 cummins diesel with 85000 miles to work and turned it off, when i came back it would not start. Chrysler refused to help. I then had the vp44 injector pump replace at a cost of $1550.00 to me . Expressway dodge told me that the engine was still under warranty by cummins but the pump was not covered by chrysler.
While driving my dodge van, it will shut of, no gas to engine. I can cruise to the side of the road most of the time. Had the vehicle worked on, new fuel pump, cleaned the ground as advised my a dodge service center, had a complete tune up and anything else myself or my mechanic could think of. The vehicle still cuts off when it wants without warning. It will restart after 4-5 minutes.

I bought a dodge diesel 1 ton from a private party.after i bought it, the previous owner called it a "lemon".he had it into dodge for numerous problems.i have broke down in the truck twice.i left home on 9/3/04 for vacation, i was in a very remote area when i heard a terrible metal noise- it turned out to be the manual transmission.i made it to the dodge dealer, who now wants amost $4000 to replace the transmission.i asked for help from dodge on this repair since the truck only has 82,000 and still has a engine warranty.they are refusing.i did find out that it needs a new cluster gear and the transmission did have oil in it.the truck, aside from regular oil changes, has only been serviced at the dealer.the transmission had to be defective (idle gear is what the dealer service mgr. Told me).i decided to have my local shop install a new factory transmission.it will cost me about $3500.i don't even want to own this truck anymore.the dodge call center has been rude and unhelpful.
