"takata recall"i am contacting you regarding the issue of the airbags being dangerous in my 2005 dodge ram pickup. I have recently been notified that the drivers side airbag is available ( which i will get replaced) but there is " no remedy" for the passenger side airbag. I have also been told by my local dealer that it is not a "dodge issue" regarding a replacement vehicle until a "remedy" can be found! this is where i disagree! if i am correct, dodge bought the item from takata to place in their vehicles. If the part has a recall placed on it then is a "dodge problem"? and shouldn't the manufacturer be responsible for furnishing a replacement vehicle until the unsafe part has been replaced? this vehicle is my everyday driver /commuter to and from work and transporting my family to sports functions and anything in between! i find it unexceptable that dodge has not taken ownership in helping people in my situation since the main problem is the fact that a vehicle they sell doesn't have a remedy fix for the indefinite future ( per the dealer)! dodge needs to do one of two things, either furnish a replacement vehicle or replace my vehicle entirely with an acceptable replacement.

"takata recall" i purchased my truck from a dealer in nashville tn that also owned a dealership in florida. I don't know how long it was in florida, but the truck had over 2600 miles on it when i purchased in aug 2005. How do i know what group my vehicle is in since it was originally delivered to florida , then sold in tn, and now has been in mo since 2008. I now have over 216,000 miles on the truck and i'm concerned over how long i'm waiting to have my airbag replaced.

Takata inflator: it has been a year since i've received official recall notification, frequently inquire, yet told there are no inflators. I'm an automotive engineer, and understand the hazard involved and can act as professional witness. Why isn't nhtsa resolving a very serious safety issue? when will this get fixed or whom do i sue?

Involved in a head on collision, air bags did not deploy. This vehicle had been taken into the dealer upon notice of the recall for tekata tk holdings air bags.the repairs were made.injuries were sustained in this accident, but could have been minimized if our airbags would have deployed. The other driver ran a red light at a high speed driving a 2007 toyota 4 runner. Her airbags did deploy just fine. I was making a left turn at the intersection of layton parkway and main street in layton, utahhaving a green arrow and the right of way proceeded upon visualizing the intersection for all traffic to have stopped, this other driver came off the interstate at a high rate of speed blowing through the red light and hitting us head on. The impact completely liftedmy truck up and spun it around a full 180 degreespointing it in the opposite direction. My rate of speed at the time of the impact was only5-10 mph

I was in a single car accident on november 14, 2005 in a 2005 dodge ram pickup truck . I hit a deer and then hit a tree going 45-50 mph. My air bag did not deploy and the fuel switch did not turn off. I do not understand why the airbag did not deploy as it should have.

My husband was driving a 2005 dodge ram 2500 when the front left tire blew. For a few seconds he was able to keep control of the truck but then it made a sudden jerk to the left and pulled him off the road, he fought it for a few more seconds until it did the sudden jerk thing again to the left and he slammed into 2 oak trees where the seat belt failed and he was ejected from the truck. After impact and me running to the truck i noticed he had been ejected, began looking for him then the air bag went off. There were several things wrong with this whole thing and i am just now getting a recall notice on the left tie rod ball stud.what about the seat belt and air bag delay?if this is what cause the sudden jerking to the left now all my questions have been answered. Just wish it would have been released sooner maybe i wouldn't be a widow at the age of 41!

Takata recall, while looking up the status of the passenger ab recall, i found out that replacement ab were available. I had not received a notice that parts were available as i did for the driver side ab. When i called the dealer that replaced the driver side to find out when i could bring my truck in to have the passenger side replaced i was told that they didn't have any replacements in stock, but they could order one, this was on 5/26/17. After two weeks went by without getting a call that my ab had come in, i called the dealer on 6/5/17, and found out that a recall ab part had arrived and that the dealer didn't think it was important to call & let me know that they could fix my truck. I had to schedule an appointment, not for that day or the next day, but 3 days later. So on 6/8/17, i finally had a serious recall item replaced, but it was only because i followed up on it. Then i had to have the dealer order the ab and call to find out why i hadn't been notified when the part came in. Final straw was having to wait over three days to have part installed, when it should have been worked in the day i called.i feel that fca doesn't care about a 12 year old vehicle needing an airbag replaced that endangered not only my life, but the life of anyone that choose to ride in my vehicle for over 13 months. That type of disregard for a previous customer is disgraceful and shows a complete lack of concern for anyone owning one of their vehicles. I'm really writing to let you know that if i hadn't been checking on this regularly, i would still have a defective ab in my truck. Something is wrong with the parts available notification system with this recall system, especially when the dealer has to order a recall part and then can't notify me when the part is available. Then having to wait to get an appointment to have installed for 3 days.thank you,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

Takara inflatorsapril 28th 2019 we took our truck to the dodge dealership to have the recalls fixed as they requested. Mainly the airbags and they did a 28 point inspection. July 1st 2019 someone pulled out in front of my husband and they were involved in a bad accident. The airbags never went off. My husband hit the steering wheel so hard there's a bruise and mark on his chest and the shape of the steering wheel. It also messed up the steering column and the gear selector. The truck is totaled the frame is bent the suspensions ripped off but we can't figure out why the airbags didn't go off. Insurance is being a pain. Dodge said they'd send out an investigator so far no one showed up. Something should be done about this.

After receiving notice the part was available i called the dealer to make an appointment. They couldn't get me in for 2 weeks. I dropped the truck off at ron tonkin dodge in milwaukie or. They called and notified me that the part was back ordered for another month. I live 45 miles away and making arraignments for a pick up ride to and from dealer is not easy. Why am i getting letters telling me the parts are available when they are not. This has been going on for over almost a year from the time i registered on line until today. I thought i had the truck sold with the stipulation i had all recalls and service up to date. The buyer does not want to wait for a month. They will buy another truck. After all this, i am not happy.i tried the phone numbers on the notification, i get a very fast busy signal. I hope no one is injured during the wait.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v313000 (air bags); however, the part to do the recall was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500.while driving 40 mph on a four lane road, the contact swerved to avoid striking a dog.the vehicle flipped over and crashed into a wall.the air bags failed to deploy.two occupants were injured and a police report was filed.the cause of the failure has not been determined.the current and failure mileages were 84,000.

My keys were able to be pulled out of ignition switch with just over 40000 miles on vehicle while vehicle was being drove. Now the vehicle was 8 years old when i bought from someone but only 40000 miles were on it. As time went on little things started happening, lights on dash would come on then shut off. Air would stay on even after shutting vehicle off. Then that would drain battery. The switch would become more loose over time. Keys wouldn't even stay in ignition, they would just fall out while i was driving.

Hit brakes to miss a deer drove approx one quarter of mile noticed a bright red glow behind passenger seat upon exiting vehicle noticed flames while darling 911 within minutes entire cab was on fire.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that the headlights, windshield wipers, instrument panel lights, and gauges failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis testing. The mechanic stated that the engine cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to dealer where it was diagnosed that the tipm module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

Driver door lock is stuck down in lock position. Power door locks and key will not open door. Door will open from inside door latch. Have been many complaints on this issue on the forums.

I have an 05 ram 2500 quad cab hemi truck with 3,200 miles on it.since new the truck has had an erratic idle and would occasionally die when shifting from reverse to drive.the pcm has been flashed, the throttle body is projected to be replaced next.this problem is getting progressively worse as the truck recently stalled in traffic three times in a ten minute period.i will also be filling a similar complaint for my 05 hemi durango limited.

Just pulled on to exit ramp lost power and started missing, by the time reached stop sign at bottom pulled over shut off engine and restarted.barely regained speed to 40 mph to limp to job site ran injector cleaned limped 25 miles into town to mechanic he replaced left back wiring harness said faulty design of plugs goiing to injectors.

Ignition switch when placed in the off position with the key removed.blower for the heat/ac will come on.has drained my battery once.i must keep the blower in the off position when not in truck.unknown if other accessories are activated when key is removed from ignition switch.this happens every time i turn off the truck.with this problem, could it lead to other problems when driving the truck?

Truck quit after it was cranked up. Gages pegged out. Taken to dealer and narrowed down to the engine wiring harness from the fire wall to the engine is shorted out causing the pcm to short out as well. Wiring harness is discontinued and truck has been sitting at dealer for over a week.we have tried to locate one personally to no avail. Is this something that you can assist us with.we love our 2500 diesel and would like to have it repaired as opposed to buying another truck.

All lights (headlights, taillights, etc.) come on while vehicle turned off and turn off while vehicle is running.also, windshield wipers and washers run all the time and can not be turned off.drains battery while not running, then will not start.factory trained mechanic says it is a "bad tipm" (totally integrated power module), and the dealership can not order a new tipm as dodge does not make these anymore (vehicle is 12 years old).my vehicle is practically useless and now valueless, as i can not get needed parts to repair.my experience has been that aftermarket parts (including fan clutch for this vehicle) does not work well and end up needing replacement almost as soon as repairs are done.this really sucks that an american auto manufacturer can fail to make parts available for 12 year old vehicles.i guess they need to sell a new one that bad!not another dodge, for sure

Turn signal will blink the wrong direction, will sometimes not work at all, will sometimes turn the wipers on when the signal is pushed up or down, the headlights will stay on bright, move the turning signal and wipers might discharge washer fluid.appears to be short in signal switch. When the turn signal is placed into a certain directions, other cars don't know which way you are turning and about caused several accidents. Wipers sometimes will not work in raining conditions. This is a safety hazard but dodge dealership will not fix without recall which i think is a concern since there are hundreds of problems been reported to them and they are aware of the problems. This is not a one time problem, the 2005-2007 dodge year model switches have a lot of hits on the internet reporting the problems.

Uncontrolled throttle (unintended increase in engine speed).while driving in cruise control, the truck stated going faster.hitting the brake did not disengage but turning the cruise off did. A day letter, while driving in first gear, the engine went to 3500 rpm and would not return to idle.this happened twice and the only way to stop it was to push in the clutch and turn the key off.the truck was parked and went to the dealer where the pedal assembly (drive by wire) and the engine control module were replace plus work was done on the wiring harness due to having 12 volts where it shouldn't which presented issues with installing the engine control module. 100 miles later, the check engine light came on and there are codes indicating high voltage to various sensors.this truck has had electrical issues since day one and the problem is most likely related to the wiring.the engine control module has been replaced twice.i'm getting ready to have it dropped off at the dealership and expect the cpu will be replaced again.

Recently in my 2005 dodge ram 2500 when i turn my right blinker on my left one goes on instead or vice versa. Sometimes they both go on like flashers. I was almost involved in serious accident do to this failure. My vehicle only has 70,000 miles on it.

My directional has failures, i will turn on to make a left turn and the right signal will flash. Sometimes the directional will not work at all. Sometimes it will signal right and then left all on its own. Then it will work fine. I found simular problems in forums for 2006 but nothing for 2005. I contacted the dodge dealer service department and he knows nothing about a recall. I found an action number on your website, pe08059, with the same problem but different year and different type of ram. I think this is a safety issue, and there should be a recall.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact smelled a burning odor upon starting the vehicle. The failure was intermittent. The contact, who was an independent mechanic, examined the vehicle and noticed wires within both rear door panels were cracked and rubbing together. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileages were 118,000. The vin was unavailable.

Ignition switch that connects to the left side of steering column to a 12 pin electric connector that controls engine on and off, a/c and heater blower motor and radio and other items all most caught fire. The wires were melted and plastic 12 connector burned and has lost the connection between the two halves of the connector that affect the above items listed.

The truck's horn begins sounding for no apparent reason. It is totally unexpected and randomly occurs. The truck can be in park, forward or reverse.this is a very annoying problem.from what i've been reading it seems the manufacturer tried to idiot proof their vehicle.is there some kind of recall or fix for this condition? thanks, wearing ear plugs in ohio.

The contact owned a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving approximately 55 mph and attempting to avoid crashing into a deer, the contact noticed flames on the rear passenger seat. The contact attempted to extinguish the fire by pouring soda on the seat. The contact had to jump out of the vehicle. Immediately afterwards, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. The vin was unavailable.

Rear door wiring harness: wires break inside of rubber housing causing total window and door lock failure. The exposed wires could arc against each other and the metal resulting in a fire. If child locks are engaged or if the door is locked you are unable to unlock the door from the outside. This is a safety issue because it could result in the rear passengers becoming trapped in the vehicle in an emergency causing injury or death.

The room fcm power distribution module corrodes and causes electrical problems. Headlights can go out while driving, taillights, break lights etc. There is many complaints on the web about this issue and dodge has not fixed the problem. I was driving at night and my headlights went completely out. Luckily i was able to avoid any accident and come to a controlled stop. If i had been on a curve i would have lost sight of the road. This is a well known issue among dodge trucks. This is a safety recall as it can cause an accident and death.

I have a 2005 dodge ram truck 2500. The turn signal switch fails and when turning left signal it will switch to right blinker which is very unsafe. And confuses other drivers as well. It is a very unsafe situation, when towing a trailer etc. And just normal driving. I have heard about this from many other owners on line about this problem. It should be a recall because there are too many incidents about this problem. Thanks, bob ps i only have 22,000 miles on this rig. This problem happens all the time now.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving approximately 45 mph and signaling a right turn, the turn signal failed to engage without warning. The contact also stated that while signaling to make a right turn, the left turn signal activated without warning. The contact pulled the vehicle over and also discovered that the passenger side tail light had blown out. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the windshield wiper stalk was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.

Turn signal when switched activates the opposite turning light. Rear tail tight housings are not water tight and blows bulbs after raining. Windshield wipers act on their own when its raining and now dome and console lights dont work. No blown fuses. The third fuel pump line is also defective. Will eventually break from vibration. New ones have better vibration housing and dealership had stock. (125 of these and none other because everyone was having the same one break). Key falls out of ignition and rear passenger side door does not lock or unlock when button is pushed. Air bags were recently recalled but they don't have enough part to get it fixed. I must wait. Very unsafe vehicle to be an owner of.

Driver door power lock actuator failed, resulting in disabling the outside door handle and the only key cylinder on the vehicle. As a result, the keys were locked in the truck with the motor running, and there was no way to enter the vehicle with a spare key since there is no lock cylinder on the passenger side door on this truck. Note that locking the keys in the truck with the motor running when experiencing this failure is virtually inevitable with this truck, since it automatically locks the doors when you reach 10 mph and the other three doors stay locked when you exit from the driver door. I had to call aaa to open the truck since there was no way to get in even with a spare key, since this failure disables the only door lock on the truck.i believe this is a safety concern since being locked out of your running vehicle in the winter could be a safety hazard, especially if you are out of cellphone range or your cellphone is locked in the vehicle, as mine was.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph with the cruise control activated, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuse box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v313000 (air bags) and 05v462000 (power train). While exiting the vehicle, the horn began to sound and the warning indicators began to flicker independently. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (b&b chrysler dodge jeep ram 125 grandview avenue, honesdale, pa 18431), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact also stated that the failure was not present prior to the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the failure was being investigated. The failure mileage was approximately 375,321.

Wipers have a mind of their own. They will activate randomly when locking/unlocking the vehicle with the remote. When attempting to use intermittent settings, the wipers may or may not move. If they move, they may move once or multiple times. If they do not move at all, switch has to be set to slow/fast continuous setting. Have replaced multi-function switch, forward control module, and wiper motor. The problem continues. There are many people who have this same issue and it is a safety hazard. There needs to be a manufacturer recall.

While driving my 2005 dodge ram truck, i have recently noticed a malfunction with the indicator lights.when i indicate a right turn from the indicator switch, the left indicator light starts to flash.additionally, when i indicate a left turn from the indicator switch, the right indicator light starts to flash.currently the malfunction occurs approximately once per 10 uses of the indicator switch.extremely difficult for the ownerto spot this type indicator malfunction.potential to be struck by another vehicle is extreme since surrounding vehicles believe you are turning one direction when in fact you turn the opposite way.initially i disassembled the multifunction switch in question and slightly bent the spring contract slides to ensure proper contact was being made.this worked for approx. 6 months however the problem is now re-occurring.i've recently purchased a new multifunction switch $140 which i intend to install, however i would like confirmation it is designed in an inherently safe way so that this issue will never be able to occur again.

I have been locked out of my 2005 dodge 2500 truck with the engine running. The lock assembly on the truck became non-operational with the key and door handle. Even with a spare key, it was useless. I had to call my wife to bring me the extrafob ( electronic door opener) to get in the truck. A contributing fact was that there was not a lock on the passenger handle. My question is what would happen if the vehicle was a standard model without a fob? the dealership said that they have seen this happen several times.by the way, my dealer was very helpful. But what about other instances of this occurring.

I was driving down the highway in my 2005 dodge 2500 ram and smelled smoke. After about 20 seconds i noticed that smoke was beginning to fill the cab. I looked around and saw that the rear passenger-side door was in flames. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder, exited the vehicle, and put out the flames with a blanket. The fire was contained to the door and a little bit of the floor carpet. The very next morning i took it to my local dodge dealer and about a week later they said that their official report indicated that chrysler was not at fault and that it was an "act of god". Since then it has been back-and-forth between the dealer and insurance company. The bottom line is it will cost me my deductible ($1000) for something that wasn't my fault. I'm submitting this complaint so the incident is documented and to register a complaint against dodge/chrysler since they are completely washing their hands of any responsibility.

I purchased the truck new but over the last several years the truck would go into limp mode or just stall while driving which makes it hard to control because you loose the power steering and brakes. Finally the computer went out, shop ordered a new one and the wipers were going on and off by them selves(has happened before), throwing codes..... The mechanic finally found that the connectors that plug into the computer are bad and loosing connection. This would possible explain the wipers coming on by them selves sometimes when you hit a bump, also the truck stalling. I jumped off the interstate a few months ago and the exit was a turn, when i let off of the accelerator the truck stalled and it was tough to keep it on the road.

The lock on my driver door is stuck in the locked position and will not unlock with the key fob, outer manual lock, or interior power lock.cannot even pull up the lock, can only open door by pulling interior door handle.researched and this is a pretty common problem across all dodge models around my year model.

Dt: 2005 dodge ram 2500 diesel - the check engine light will come on. The truck will sputter and then it will finally stall out.this will happen at any time no matter what the driving conditions.the truck is in the shop now; it has been there for almost two weeks.this is the third time the truck has been in the shop for the same problem.the last time the engine stalled out,was after leaving the gas station, the truck started to sputter and then it stalled out.there were no accidents or crashes due to this problem, but it was only a matter of time before there was an accident.the dealership stated it was a computer problem.they did some adjustments, but it did not fix the problem, a new computer was ordered and installed and now the truck is not running at all.the dealership can not tell the consumer how long it will take to repair the truck.

I believe nhtsa recall 05v46200 has problems. The dealership said that the horn honk only honks when your foot is off the brake and your door is open and you are in reverse. The horn honks at no particular time if found. Dealership could not get it to honk when they did all three requirements when i complained to them. Also the recall they sent out did not say the horn would honk. My and other vehicles are emergency vehicles and the horn honking at unknown times is not acceptable and on swat operations the trucks can not be used for fear of the horn going off. The dealership said that they can not take this recall off and they said the recall is mandatory by nhtsa and we are stuck with the recall. My problem is: 1. Therecall should have said that the horn will now start honking once the recall was done. 2. The recall should work and the horn not go off at any time. 3. That dodge should not say this is a nhtsa required recall andmandatory and the recall can not be taken off if that is true.

Issue began just after the warranty period was over, if i tilted my steering wheel upward the horn honked repeatedly and headlamps flashed. Then a week later, intermittently smell "electrical burn" and the a/c blower motor would stop, then start etc etc. I removed the covers to the steering column and the 10 ga. Blue and red wires are burned along with the plug / pigtail. Ignition switch, pigtail and wires were extremely hot and melting. Fire is eminent.ign. Switch is available but i will be forced to buy the full wiring harness! i have not done the repair due to the financial setback from a bad design. Dodge had this exact condition in 2000 on 1994-1996 models, see nhtsa campaign: 00v135000. This is the same conditions, high electrical current from blower motor routed thru ignition switch instead of a relay when the blower is on high for an extended period of time. No fire yet but at this rate there will bes soon.

I had taken my truck to get it serviced because the steering felt off and when i would go to stop it sounded like metal shaking. When i got to the dealership they said the left tie rod was cracked and the steering linkage was just hanging there about to fall off. There had been a recall on it before i had purchased the truck so i called chrysler group and they informed me that it was deemed that the truck didn't have the "specific recalled" part. So i had to pay out of pocket around $3,000 to fix a problem that there was a recall on. The exact same problem listed in the recall, "because the left tie rod ball stud may fracture." is exactly what happened to mine. I was told by chrysler group that since my truck had been checked for the specific part by the previous owner and it wasn't part of the recall they wouldn't cover it. They did say to keep all my reciepts in case there is a future recall on that specific part.

On pa 81 hit a bump in the road at 65 mph.thought i had a flat tire but was not the case.after looking on the web "you tube" and asking people i found that i hada death wobble. This was very scary and the kids in the back though we were going to crash as did i.this death wobble should be looked at and fixed before someone gets into a crash.

After changing the oil i noticed a quarter size rust bubble on the side of the oil pan about 1/2" from the bottom. I took a rag and wiped it off in an attempt to spray some paint on it but as soon as i wiped it the new oil started running out at a slow drip. I ultimately ended up replacing the oil pan. After i had the pan of it looked like the pan had been painted with rust on the outside. The inside of the pan was fine but i had 10 or 15 rust spots that were bubbling under the paint.

Engines needing cam shafts lifters timing chains they over heat electric fans not working batteries explode transmissions stop shifting bad valve bodies bad electrical parts these trucks are driven around one location at 35 mph or less 24-7 and parked for long times at idle. No city or hwy driving 4 different trucks at dealerships since 9/16/2020 still not repaired

The oil pan has a silver dollar sized rust-through forming at the bottom, rear, right corner and is now letting oil seep through.i discovered this when i noticed a small puddle of oil under the truck and inspected it.luckily, i caught this before it caused a major problem. Had i not noticed this defect and it failed while driving, it could have caused a fire by allowing oil to blow on to the exhaust system.alternatively, it also could have allowed 12 quarts of oil to leak on to the highway, destroyed my turbo and/or engine, or caused loss of control when the engine seized up.dodge informs me that the repair would cost in excess of $1,400.00.i don't believe that the oil pan should rust through like this and have never experienced such a condition in any other vehicle that i have owned.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving at a normal rate of speed, various fuel injectors burned the pistons without warning and damaged the motor. The contact took the vehicle to ken garff west valley chrysler jeep dodge ram fiat(4175 w 3500 s, west valley city, ut 84120) and doug smith chrysler dodge jeep ram (523 w main st, american fork, ut 84003) where the injectors and engine were replaced on various occasions under warranty. The failure recurred and the entire engine blew up. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and paid $15,000 to have the motor replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Truck burst into flames just sitting in the driveway. Truck had been parked and not started in 5 days.

2005 dodge 2500 diesel truck.replaced serpentine belt 4 times due to fraying.the last time it was changed the dealership told me a pulley had a nick on it and needed replaced. I paid to replace the serpentine belt and pulley.i have 120,000 miles on the vehicle and the 4th belt is needing changed due to fraying.the edge towards the fan is the one that gets frayed.i emailed dodge a week ago and have not received a response.i feel this is a defect.

Excessive vibration since purchases truck new in 2005.replaced serpentine belt 5 times and tensioner pulley 2 times, which is about every 30k miles.chrysler agreed to pay for the last belt and pulley acknowledging something was wrong causing the issue.the issue was not known until recently.the vibration over a long period of time caused several bolts/mounts to work loose and allowed parts to shift.the cooling fan shifted into the radiator breaking the fan blades and busting the radiator.the radiator, fan assembly and fan had to be changed.during these repairs the vibration source was found.the flywheel was bad.changed flywheel, clutch and throw out bearing.the bearing in the flywheel was bad and causing slack which caused the vibration.the excessive vibration also caused a 5" crack in the bell housing and broke the exhaust pipe in two.muffler shop said they have never seen a break in the exhaust like this.chrysler is saying all of these items are normal wear and tear, disregarding the fact that earlier chrysler agreed to replace a serpentine belt and tensioner pulley.ujoints in the same vehicle have been changed multiple times.very poor headlights.so bad it is a safety issue not allowing the driver to adequately see in front of the vehicle while driving during the night.

My vehicle will stall when i apply the brakes to the vehicle. This in turn causes the vehicle to shut down all power steering and braking. My truck is a fairly large vehicle, and when you start to brake in advance and the vehicle stalls, especially when icy outside its very hard to stop the vehicle. I have reported this to my dealership and brought my vehicle in endless times, it has sat there for several days while their technicians sit around and try to figure what the problem is... Everytime their answer is, were not sure because this is the first anyone has ever heard of it. We fixed "whatever" but we don't know what it really it. Everytime i then take the vehicle, it stalls, i've almost killed a pedestrian and rear ended a truck... What will it take, someone to get killed before dodge takes this as a serious safety problem?

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, he started to hear a ticking noise coming from the motor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the exhaust manifold overheated and twisted, causing the bolts to fracture. As a result both manifolds needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 79,000.

My 2005 dodge ram 2500 ignited and blew up while under 7 year 70k warranty and chrysler denies any responsibility.

I own a 2005 dodge ram slt sport with a 5.7l hemi.i have owned it approximately 4 months and in those 4 months it has had complete engine failure, electrical system still works, but the vehicles stalls without warning.both times have been at red lights and in parking lots.i have made an appointment to get the truck looked at and i plan on asking for a buyback on it since i have lost trust in the truck.

Purchased 3/4 ton puck-up truck. The hemi engine has a noisy valve train. The dealership placed new heads on the engine per the new dodge service bulletin after 7,000 miles. With the new heads on there was no change in the amount of noise the engine made. The service bulliten indicates a clearance issue regarding the valve diameter. The truck has been to the dealership 3 times regarding this issue.

When shifting from drive to reverse (auto trans) engine stalls. This has happened upon four seperate occasions.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500 regcab swb.on march 31, 2007 while driving 70 mph, the contact noticed black smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle.the vehicle's cruise control was activated and he attempted to switch lanes.as a result, the vehicle began to swerve from left to right and eventually crashed into a ditch.the contact then smelled diesel fumes and noticed a leak coming from the engine.the next day he found a leak in the high pressure injection line which caused the clamp that holds the line together to become loose.the manufacturer sent out an investigator to take pictures of the vehicle.the contact stated that the investigator did not offer any reason as to why the failure occurred, other than the weather.chrysler stated that there was no mechanical defect and that the part was still under warranty for repair.he stated that when he took his vehicle to the dealer, they stated that they would not repair the vehicle due to legal proceedings.a police report was filed.the current mileage is 23,679 and failure mileage was 25,000.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500.while driving at an unknown speed, the transmission warning light illuminated on the instrument panel.immediately, smoke and vapors appeared from the engine compartment.the contact used a 10-pound fire extinguisher, but was not successful in extinguishing the flames.the fire department was called to extinguish the fire.both a police and fire report were filed.the vehicle was destroyed.the failure and current mileages were less than 28,400.

After delivering vehicle to dealership for diagnosis, it was discovered that the inter cooler had failed. The dealership refused to repair it because of the installation of after market parts. The 2005 model year was the only year to use plastic end caps on the inter cooler. The replacement inter coolers are welded aluminum. The mechanic noted that he had replace other inter coolers on stock vehicles suffering the same problem i had. Not having any success with the dealership i contacted chrysler and was informed that because of the reported after market partsi am not covered under warranty and that i am not even eligible to bring my vehicle to another dealer for their opinion. The vehicle is a 2005 dodge ram diesel with 20,500 miles on it. I have picked the truck up from the dealership and will be installing an inter cooler myself.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500 diesel. The contact stated that the air conditioner failed multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the a/c schrader valve had become sticky and was defective. The vehicle was not repaired however, years later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who then advised that the evaporator valve was leaking and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 76,498 and the current mileage was 76,498.updated 01/09/13*lj updated 1/11/2013

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuse box module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. ...updated 09/14/16 the consumer stated the fuse box necessaryto complete the repair was no longer in production.

Marker/running lights quit working. I was unaware that they quit working, all other lights were working. Danger to other drivers. Trying to resolve problem. Old part is available.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge 2500. The contact stated that the turn signals are malfunctioning, when he turns the right turn signal on the left one blinks and vice versa. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who did not diagnose the problem. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 100,000.

Turn signal does not operate correctly--when you turn on the left signal it will switch from the left and right intermediately--at first only happened now and then--now it happens every time and the turn signal does not click any more either.

Turn signal signalling wrong direction without warning or no signalling at all. Seems to happen on days with heavy dew or fog... Can affect hazard lights as well.

I was in the left turn lane with my left blinker activated and my buddy that was behind me called me on the cell phone and said that my right turn signal was on. The inside one was indicating a right turn condition, but the turn signal handle was positioned for a left turn. The next day i hooked up to a trailer the next day and turned my left turn signal on and walked back to check my trailer lights and my right turn signals were blinking.i looked for this problem, but it is listed for the 2006 dodge 3500.

2005 dodge 2500 power windows on the pass. Side front pass. Go down don't come up, driver side rear pass. Window sometimes works and sometimes doesn't from the drivers door switches, open the same door and the interior light doesn't come on, third brake light works sometimes, windshield wipers act as if you have them on the constant cycle when it is in the intermittent cycle, blend door does not change from floor to vent or defrost.

Recently in my 2005 dodge ram 2500 when i turn my right blinker on my left one goes on instead or vice versa. Sometimes they both go on like flashers. I was almost involved in serious accident do to this failure. My vehicle only has 70,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While drivingapproximately 40 mph the driver attempted to engage the left turn signal but the right turn signal came on. The vehicle was taken to his residence and parked. While the vehicle was parked he was able to duplicate the failure. The turn signals will either not come on or the opposite turn signal would illuminate. The vehicle was not taken to be examined for the cause of failure and has not been repaired.he also stated that when the windshield wiper was set on intermittent it would swipe multiple times. The failure and current mileages were 44,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that when using his turn signals they would operate in the opposite direction. When using the right signal the left would engage and the left would engage when the right signal was turned on. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer nor was it repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500.on june 21, 2009, the holder failed and detached from the fuel injection line.the failure occurred without warning.since the part is in demand, there are no dealers that currently have it available for purchase.the failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving approximately 45 mph, smoke appeared from the hood of the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the engine was covered with fuel. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel line injector needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,287. The vin was unavailable. Updated 11/08/16*lj

2005 dodge 2500 diesel.starting at aprox. 27,000 miles, the truck began to idle roughly and was increasingly harder to start.at about 30k miles, the truck was taken to the dealership for repair.after about a week, the dealership informed us that the fuel was not diesel in the truck, and they did not know what it was.in fact it was diesel from our very own tank, and our fuel salesman told them it was ulsd, with a mountain dew appearance for highway.the dealer removed the fuel from the truck and replaced it with their own, only to then tell us we ruined the entire fuel system, which would need to be replaced at a cost of @ $14,000.then they added that we had voided the vehicle warranty from contamination.we took the truck directly to cummins, who diagnosed 2 faulty injectors and replaced them at a cost of @$1700.the truck ran fine for 3 years, then same trouble again, took it back to dodge at our mechanics request, and got the same total replacement scenario.went back to cummins yesterday, where they service tech told me 1. Dodge buys the engines from cummins just above cost, and carries the entire warranty, 2. Dodge locked cummins out of the engines through programming and different plug connector 3. He had many people with the same experience as we did, turning the problem back on the owner and refusing service.he said in fact he did not know of dodge honoring engine warrantees at all, and it was a sore issue for cummins reputation.cummins sent us to a third party, were the truck is now.while talking to dodge corporate the first time around, they told me they count on their dealers to be the "eyes and ears" of the company and leave it to them to decide warranties.it is not right to void over a faulty component, one which the dealer could not even diagnose.if i took it to a regular mechanic for a spark plug and they told me i needed a new engine, that would show extreme negligence.

You and your expert engineers are aware of this.i found that the blue plastic retaining clamp that holds the injector tube in place and prevents vibration from damaging the connections or the tube itself was loose.the plastic clamp/retainer was securely held in place by the screw that passed through the device but the whole clamp would freely move around the tube and the tube would be able to move back and forth inside the clamp. This sort of defeats it's purpose.i found that the pressed fitting on the tube near where it attached to the injector was where the misting/leak was.my internet research has found that this anomaly in the fuel delivery system though not common is not uncommon.i believe that it is more apt to occur in the 2006 models but this is only my opinion from limited internet research.

2005 dodge diesel truck under warranty. One day the truck stalled out. Took it to anniston lincoln dodge of anniston al.they had it for 16 days.they called and said the lift pump was the problem and was replaced under warranty.next they called and said replacing the lift pump did not resolve the problem.next they said they were stumped and had referred it to chrysler.chrysler told them it was contaminated fuel and recommended replacement of the entire fuel system.the dealer gave me a parts list totaling $11,000.before i committed to a large project like that, i requested that a fuel sample be taken and analyzed.the dealer said they did not do that and did not know where it could be done.the truck still had a fuel priming problem that was not addressed.they said if the fuel system was going to be replaced anyway; the priming problem would be repaired.they charged me $1700.00 for their efforts. I decided to take the truck to bill stafford pontiac-cadillac-gmc of talladega al.this was the dealership where i had purchased the truck.they had the truck for 17 days.an $11,000 repair warranted a second opinion to at least confirm the path forward on the repair.i also requested a fuel sample be taken, but they also said that they did not do that and did not know where fuel could be analyzed.bill stafford had the truck for 17 days.during this time, they eliminated fuel contamination as the problem.their diagnosis was that there was a fuel priming problem.they then informed me they did not have the tools for repair or further diagnosis i was welcome to come and tow my truck someplace else.they did not charge me anything for their efforts. Next i took it to miller-sutherlin automall of pell city, al. The truck was at this dealer for 10 days and they called me to come and get my truck because i was wasting their time.it already had a star case #9258138 (a result from the first repair attempt) for contaminated fuel.

Driving home from work i noticed a strong smell of diesel fuel in the cab, looking in the rearview mirror i noticed that all the cars behind me had slowed down to a distance of approx. 300 feet and white smoke trailing behind the truck. When i had the chance i pulled over in a store parking lot and exited the cab to see fuel pouring out under my truck and white smoke coming out from the left front wheel well. I had the truck towed to closest dodge dealer where they discoveredthe number 4 injector line had ruptured and coated the whole engine bay. They also indicted that i was lucky that this did not cause a fire or possibly an accident from the fuel spilling on the roadway. While reading a cummins forum online i have discovered this to be a fairly common problem.

Shortly after speeding up a car in front of me hit their brakes.when i attempted to slow down it seemed that the accelerator pedal did not return to neutral and it was very hard to stop.after troubleshooting, i found out that the accelerator pedal was sticking and not returning to neutral after being depressed. Sometimes it would slowly return to neutral, other times it would stay depressed. There is no external interference with the pedal (i.e. Floor mat), and only the pedal linkage is at fault. If i pushed the pedal a large distance then it would normally spring back all the to neutral.when i checked closely, it appears that the accelerator pedal position sensor (apps) is what is causing the binding.this truck is throttle-by-wire so no mechanical cable is involved. The apps in this model truck is part of the accelerator pedal mechanism and the hinge point for the pedal is in the apps.

Stalling. Upon reading the ap article about dodge ram 1500 stalling i was compelled to write to add the same incidence occurring in the hemis. (we have a 2005 2500 series hemi). If you search under "dodge hemi stalling" you will find numerous complaints documenting incidents covering several years and dodge's flash solution. Our brand new truck sat in their shop for 6 weeks awaiting the release of the latest flash to solve this problem. We have had no reoccurrance of stalling problems since the flash, but have heard of several dodge hemi owners who have experienced the same problem.

While driving on my way home from the grocery store i got a real strong diesel smell coming into the cabin, i was half a block away so i kept driving got into my driveway and popped the hood to find injector line #4 leaking like crazy turned the truck off and the next day i went to the dealer and bought two new injector line, replaced the bad one and kept one for spare, another 8 months later the same line went out again, so i replaced it with the spare i had in the truck i went back to the dealer and bought another two, my 3rd one went out a week before halloween while shopping for my 2 year old sons costume i was on the freeway going back home with my wife, my son, and my dad i got the same smell into the cabin and this time i got some smoke into the cabin also i freaked out and got off the freeway and put my wife, son and dad into a taxi and sent them home and i replaced a 3rd injector line, this has to stop before somebody gets hurt, dodge has to step up and do something about it or i have a feeling they will pay alot of mobey if something bad happens.

I was in a single car accident on november 14, 2005 in a 2005 dodge ram pickup truck . I hit a deer and then hit a tree going 45-50 mph. My air bag did not deploy and the fuel switch did not turn off. I do not understand why the airbag did not deploy as it should have.

The consumer stated the gas tank needed to be replaced.the consumer stated he was never able to properly put gas in the vehicle from the day, he purchased it.the consumer stated the first time he attempted to put gas in the vehicle, he could only add four cents at a time without the nozzle shutting off and the gas spilling out.the gas tank was replaced with a used one. However, the replacement tank failed. The consumer stated inferior parts were used which caused the gas tank to leak.

While on the off ramp to the stop at the bottom dodge ram gas pedal stuck down causing the truck to accelerate causing the truck to leave the road at around 85+ mph then dropping off the road to an 400+ drop.

While driving home from work friday the #4 fuel tube that comes from the fuel bar and goes into the injectors started leaking causing diesel to leak over my entire motor and undercarriage of vehicle.i drove the vehicle about 20 miles as i did not know there was a leak.i could see smoke coming from what i thought was my exhaust behind the truck but then noticed my fuel gage started going down quickly and when i made it home smoke started coming from under hood. An extreme amount of smoke.about 10 gallons of diesel was leaked out.this could have ignited and / or exploded causing serious injury or death to myself and surrounding vehicles / homes.i was able to find the leak and purchased replacement part from my local dodge dealership.the parts department told me the #4 tube, which is the one i replaced, was very common to leak.if this is very common...something should be done.if one tube is common to leak all others are questionable as well.the part cost me $52.60 plus labor to change.

The consumer experienced sudden acceleration in his 2005 dodge ram 2500 quad cab.the consumer also stated the vehicle was becoming difficult to start, so he replaced the fuel filter.the consumer dropped the vehicle off at the dealer. The dealer informed the consumer, they could not get the vehicle started, because the fuel was contaminated with a fluid that was real dark.the consumer had the vehicle towed to another shop where he was then told there was a lot of rust in both manifolds and the head, but the fuel looked fine.the mechanic recommended the injectors be replaced.since the replacement of the injectors the vehicle is now drivable.

While driving down highway gasoline started spewing under pressure from top of fuel pump, pulled into parking lot away from other vehicles and waited five to ten minutes before gasoline stopped spraying out. I had to have it towed home where i could check to find out if it was only a rubber hose as i expected or something else. I found out it was a fitting at top of the fuel pump which looks like metal connector where the gasoline was spraying out of a pin hole, i lost about 5 gallons of gas in 14 miles of highway driving.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving approximately 80 mph, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. Within seconds, a loud noise was heard under the vehicle. The driver was able to coast onto the road shoulder and found unknown parts had separated from the vehicle while driving. The vehicle was towed toa dealer where it was diagnosed that the transfer case, constant velocity joint, universal joint, fuel lines, and brakes lines failed.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 270,000.

The lock on my driver door is stuck in the locked position and will not unlock with the key fob, outer manual lock, or interior power lock.cannot even pull up the lock, can only open door by pulling interior door handle.researched and this is a pretty common problem across all dodge models around my year model.

Driver door lock is stuck down in lock position. Power door locks and key will not open door. Door will open from inside door latch. Have been many complaints on this issue on the forums.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500.the contact stated that the passenger side door would not unlock when using the key.the dealer repaired the vehicle, however, the contact was unsure of what they repaired.the current mileage was 18,500 and failure mileage was 18,400.

2005 dodge 2500 4x4 crew cab with cummins diesel does notindicate the transmission is in park even with the shift lever in the park detent position. I complained to the servicing dealer in 12/06 and numerous parts were changed in the transmission.the changes helped temporarily but the problem came back.i returned the truck to the dealer in 2009 for the same issue and was told the transmission was performing to specs and no work was performed to correct the problem.on 11/14/2011 i exited the vehicle with the transmission lever in the park detent position and the engine running.after about 15 seconds the truck shifted into reverse backed into a vehicle and a building. Chrysler investigated the incident and informed me that the vehicle is out of warranty with 118000 miles even though no repairs were done when requested while under warranty.the truck has a factory recall to install some sort of alarm.chrysler says the recall was mailed to me in 2006 and 2007 but the truck was at the dodge dealership for this complaint after the supposed notification and while covered under my chrysler 100,000 mile extended warranty for two days and the recall was not performed. Research shows this is very common with this model truck with pages upon pages of these incidents retrieved by conducting an internet search and i cannot believe a fix cannot be found for this issue or the government is not forcing chrysler to correct the issues.

May 2018, put truck in park and left it running to go in to get something. We were in an rv park at the time.a minute or so later, it went in reverse and backed into a trailer causing damage to both. Gearshift showedit was still in 'p'.alarm has since been put in under recall e17 after we requested it.(had asked when air bagswere changed out in december 2017,if any other recalls, and were told no). A dodge rep came on june 12, 2018 and looked at the truck. As of 12/10/2018, we have not been notified of results.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500 diesel.the vehicle was purchased brand new.in 2006, the vehicle rolled away on its own while in park.the dealer stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign id number 07e009000 (power train: automatic transmission: lever and linkage: column shift).the dealer stated that the failure was normal; however, they installed an alarm to warn the contact when the vehicle was going to roll.several weeks later, she parked the vehicle and turned the ignition off and the vehicle proceeded to roll.the contact attempted to stop the vehicle and injured her right arm in the process.she took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that the 2500 diesel's were made for farmers.she does not now how to use the vehicle and believed that she must have left the engine running when the failures occurred.the alarm only warns the contact while the vehicle is in park.a report was filed with the manufacturer and they advised her to take the vehicle to back to the dealer.the current mileage was 41,000 and failure mileage was 20,000.

On february 3, 2012 we were passing a logging truck in a legal passing lane when all of the sudden our truck started shaking violently. We lost all steering controland had no brakes all while shaking violently and headed into the oncoming traffic lane and over the embankment hitting trees head on. We have 2 witnesses to verify everything. The witnesses both said our tires were moving a foot ,or more, in & out during this violent shaking. Our truck was totaled due to this accident.

The truck with attached trailer was parked on an inclined driveway.the truck was placed in park and the key was removed from the ignition.i proceeded to load a compact tractor approximately 2500 lbs.the truckstarted to roll down the hill and crashed thru a fence doing extensive damage to the truck.i did not try to start the truck and waited for mechanic to assess any mechanical damage.the mechanic came to my place and when he got in the truck the transmission indicated that it was still in park.dodge told me that there was no recall on this type vehicle with the transmission not holding.the representative told me that there had been similar problems with gas powered engines but not the diesel.i would like to know if this can be evaluated for recall.no one got hurt in this instance but caused extensive damage to the truck mechanically and cosmetically.

The clutch pedal connecting rod to the clutch master cylinderseparated from the master cylinder. It happens if you bump the pedal backwards with your foot going for the brake. Then you can't push in the clutch! you have to pull it out of gear pull over and put the rod back in. Clutch pedal comes back real far and causes this! this happens when driving and may cause a accident not being able to take it out of gear or shift if needed. I have pictures of the rod out of the hole if needed.

Was in my dodge truck in a parking lot. Started vehicle and pulled forward about 6 feet and felt like ihad run over a bottle or can. I stopped the truck, put the truck in park and looked at the indicator to make sure it was in park. With the engine running i began to exit the vehicle and after 1 foot was on the ground the horn started to blow and the vehicle went into reverse. It traveled backwards for about 8 feet before i could enter the vehicle and engage the brake. As it was going in reverse, the door hit a concrete pillar used to support parking lot lights and bent the door forward considerably past the point of normal opening. The door will have to be replaced along with some additional body work.

I purchased a 2005 ram 2500 in july. I had a similar problem with mine jumping from park to reverse. No people were hurt, but it destroyed the entire side of my pickup. When it jumped from park to reverse the truck went across the street and hit another truck. This issue happened a few time before, but i was in the truck these times. I think dodge has a serious problem to take care of before someone gets killed. Now my truck has been in the body shop longer than i got to drive it. Hope dodge is going to take care of all of us. An independent investigator has looked at my truck and chrysler is supposed to contact me with the results of his investigation.

Dodge refuses to fix a problem for which there is a service bulletin #2101605i have been three times to get something done.the dealer says i am not covered by the bulletin, but that i do have the problem.the dealer called dodge and they will not approve the repair.they say it is okay to have a 4 to 10 second delay in the transmission being operable when shifted into gear.the engines revs up and the truck rolls, until it finally catches into gear.i have 24,000 miles on my 2005 ram 2500.i told them (on the third visit july 18) that i became aware of the issue being known about after some one told me it was a common problem.dodge said they were unaware of it up until i provided proof otherwise.i need my vehicle fixed.my problem is getting worse.what good is my warranty when they will not fix a significant defect?

The consumer was informed by the manufacturer that the recall had been completed and nothing else could be done.the consumer stated the original defect had not been corrected.the consumer noticed that the vehicle was becoming more difficult to shift into park and sometimes when he opens the door while backing up the horn does not sound.therefore, the original safety hazard still exists. The consumer assumed the dealer was going toadjust the shift linkage, but he soon discovered, they had done nothing to the shifter.

My 2500 dodge ram diesel 2005 has a factory recall for not going all the way into park although seems as though it is in park.the dealership is too far away for me to drive there and they are not providing me with any assistance in getting my vehicle to the dealership to have this recall repaired. I have no means of getting my vehicle to the dealership for repair of this defect.i have noticed this problem with my vehicle before receiving the recall letter in the mail.

On april 30, 2006, while parking my camper in my drivewayi shifted the transmission in to (park); set the emergency brake; left the engine running; got out of the truck to go set a chock on the camper tires and left the door open (note that i have had the recall work performed which activates the alarm should the door be open, the engine running, and the transmission engaged in reverse).it took me approximately four to five seconds to get to the passenger side of the camper to set the chocks when the alarm activated indicating that the transmission had slipped into reverse.therefore; not only did the transmission fail to properly stay engaged in the park position but the alarm feature also failed to warn me when i got out of the truck. Let me elaborate on exactly how the problem was identified and continues to occur with my specific truck:first of all; it doesn't happen every time but when it does happen; the position indicator (the square marquee that encircles the current gear position) is not illuminated around any gear position, prndl, but specifically not around park or reverse.as the operator, i have to make a very deliberate action to push the shift lever in to the park position and visually confirm that in fact the transmission is in park, as indicated by the marquee.however, given the situation i mentioned above while parking my camper '' i am not convinced that the transmission will stay in the park position. Dcc''s solution of installing an alarm to warn you of dangerous situation; does not remedy the problem.and, as i mentioned above, this alarm doesn't always work either.dcc needs to immediately find a solution to their design defect before someone else is either injured or killed.

Consumer complaint concerning the out of park alarm.the consumer received the recall for the installation of an out of park alarm.the software modification will help ensure that the consumer has properly placed the shifter lever into the park position before attempting to exit the vehicle.the out of park alarm, which is the blaring of the horn,is only linked to the driver's door.if any of the other doors were opened while the vehicle was out of park the driver would not be notified.recall number 05v462000 .

Vehicle type : 2005 dodge 2500 diesel automatic transmission.truck was recalled for a problem with transmission not going into park. The fix was to install an alarm that sounds the horn when the truck is in reverse, driver's door is open and the foot brake is released.this is the condition a truck driver would use when hooking up to a boat, utility trailer or a rv.this is not a fix for the real problem but generates more problems by making it very hard to look to the rear out of the door when backing up to make a hookup with out the horn sounding. It is causes a problem in camps sites and boat ramps where backing up and needing to look out the door for safety.

Dt*: the contact stated that recall # 05v462000 pertaining to the power train: automatic transmission was a cover up for the diesel park problem. By installing an alarm that only activated when the door was opened does not alleviate the problem. This action by the manufacturer was to avoid fixing the real problem. The service dealer and manufacturer were notified.

Consumer 2005 dodge ram 2500 slipped out of park in to reverse. The consumer stated the recall work had already been performed, however, the vehicle still slipped into reverse, the alarm did however activate, but it didn't warn the consumer before he exited the vehicle, which was suppose to activate once the consumer left the door open.

Dt*:the contact stated a recall remedy was performed.nhtsa recall # 05v462000, regarding power train: automatic transmission.the remedy that was performed is a horn blowing alarm alerting the vehicle it is not in park.when the vehicle is in reverse and the driver's door is opened the horn blows to alert the driver.also, when the vehicle is in park and the vehicle is exited, when it is put into reverse and the door is closed the alarm will sound until the vehicle is put back into the park position.updated 06/12/06.

2005 dodge ram with diesel and automatic transmission.received a recall notice march 28, 2006that will add alarm function if driver door is opened, engine running and vehicle not in park.this is not a fix to a problem reported by others that the vehicle will inadvertently shift into reverse with the shifter indicating "park".if there is a problem with the shifter mechanism, it must be fixed.many drivers backup the last foot or two with drivers door open when connecting truck to a trailer.the proposed fix in the recall makes the vehicle less usable.i wouldnot have purchased this new truck if i had been aware of the "rube goldberg" bandaid patch rather than fixing the shifter problem.i would encourage nhtsa to disapprove the current recall and demand that the problem be solved with a functional shifter mechanism.i consider the fix proposed by the recall to be totally unacceptable and refuse to have it incorporated on my truck because it makes connecting to a trailer more difficult and time consuming.i have not had a problem with my truck but now always set the parking brake when getting out of the truck because of uncertainty of the shifter.

On certain pickup trucks equipped with diesel engines and automatic transmissions, in an attempt to exit the vehicle quickly without shutting off the engine and removing the key, the driver may inadvertently leave the automatic transmission shift control in indicated reverse. Consequence: this error is an unintended action that may result in a lack of transmission park pawl engagement and possibly delayed rearward movement of the vehicle. Remedy: dealers will perform a software modification to equip these vehicles with an out-of-park alarm. Owners may contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403. Dodge is saving a bundle of money by going this route.....instead of fixing that slippery indent between park and reverse selector positions we have to live with a horn blowing. I sometimes need to open my door while backing up. Now i have to listen to a horn blowing as well as my neighbors.tell chrysler there are putting a band aid over an open would that needs stitching.

Vehicle was recalled to remedy failure to go into park.mfr's. Solution was to make the horn blow if the truck wasn't firmly in park.this was never explained to me, and i thought the horn blowing was an electrical problem in the steering column.if the dealer doesn't take the time to explain the so-called fix to the vehicle owner, it's a useless exercise.as far as the horn warning goes, this is only a band-aid on a serious problem.the hazard still exists.

The vehicle continued to have the problem of the gear shift jumping into reverse. The indicator definitely wa sin park momentarily before changing back to reverse. The contact's liability insurance paid for repairs to the other vehicle in clash , and the insurance premiumincreased as a result of the accident. Also, the contact enclosed a copy of the safety recall notice which he received from daimler/chrysler.he felt damage to the vehicle has not been repaired , and he felt this was a dodge problem.

I received a safety recall notice from daimler chrysler stating that i need to have an "out-of-park alarm system" installed to correct a shift lever issue.model years 2003 through 2005 heavy duty pickup trucks with automatic transmissions and a diesel engine are affected.i am appalled at this obvious inadequate attempt to correct a shift lever issue.chrylser's "fix" is nothing more than an annoying "idiot" alarm used to mask the real problem.i refuse to have this alarm installed on my truck.

We have a 2005 dodge ram quad cab pickup, my husband put the truck in park and left it running to get out and check some hay in the field, he no sooner got out and the truck went into reverse and almost ran him over, it kept going and almost hit a utility pole.he got in to check another field and it did the same thing again, this time he almost got ran over again and in running to stop the truck pulled a muscle in his leg.my husband is 60 years old and it scared the bejesus out of him. Back end of 05 dodge ram 1500 slid on wet pavement at approximately 10 mph. When back end hit curb, axle snapped where wheel and axle meet. I was driving on an access road with my wife when a vehicle pulled out in front of me.i hit the brakes to avoid hitting the other vehicle.i maintained control of our vehicle and stayed in the same lane not hitting anything, but we heard a pop and the vehicle started shaking making it hard to control.i could not keep the steering wheel straight anymore.then we smelled a burning odor and heard something scraping the ground.we pulled over and saw that the 4 wheel drive shaft was hanging down.we then talked with the service advisor and he informed us in his opinion that this was the result of an accident and we would have to file under our insurance.we looked at the damage and saw a small dent in the front differential casing, broken drive shaft, two suspension arms bent, and dent in oil pan from the axle being pushed back.we informed the service advisor that we did not hit any vehicle or any objects in the roadway.we are not going to make a false claim on our insurance for something that is a manufacturing defect with the truck.the service advisor believes that we hit something which made the small dent in the differential casing and this caused all the other damage described above.there is no way a small dent in the differential casing could cause all the damage that occurred.this dent could have occurred from a rock hitting it; it is a very small dent.if we would of hit something, there probably would have been damage to the front bumper and transmission as well which sits lower than the differential.also, if we hit the differential, which is made from aluminum, there probably there would have been a substantial amount of damage to it.his theory does not make sense to us.we believe there could be a defect with the suspension bars on my vehicle.also the drive shaft could have catapulted us causing a serious collision and injuries to us.

While driving, my seat belts lock up and will not allow any movement- holding the occupant tightly to the back of the seat, inducing tremendous anxiety.with each movement of the occupant, the seatbelt tightens.seatbelt must be unbuckled to releave pressure.

The driver seat mechanism failed during mild acceleration, causing the driver to be thrown backwards.the seat tilt mechanism has a plastic and metal gearbox that broke causing the seat to swing forward under braking and backward under acceleration.this causes control problems as the movement is about 1 foot.the dealer was pressured to replace the failed part and claims this is the first time it has ever occurred.the truck was 15 months old at the time of failure with 56,000 miles on the odometer.the part has not been improved, so i am looking at replacing this mechanism every 15 months!this seat tilt mechanism on the power seat is not designed properly.

I purchased a 2005 dodge ram 2500 3 months ago and only have 10,000 miles on the truck.on friday, november 11, 2005, i returned home and noticed that my brake lights remained after i exited the truck. I tried turning the lights on and off, and they remained on.i decided to drive to the maxwell chrysler dealer a few blocks away as i was afraid my battery would go dead. As i was proceeding down my street, i noticed the brake indicator light came on. I went to brake, and there was no brake pedal!it had fallen off.i made it to the dealership using my emergency brake.they said the "clasp" that holds the pedalhad fallen off. It was not on the floor, so i don't know if it was broken, missing, etc.they replaced the clasp.i was horrified to think that i was supposed to have been on interstate i-35 towing my horses.please look into this asap. I would like to know if this is an isolated incident, or whether this could be a possible defect.

2005 dodge ram 2500. Has death shake. Steering box stabilizer, duel steering stabilizer, rancho rs 9000 shocks, ball joints alignment radiouse arm bushing, and complete front end checked by respectable ase mechanic. I bought a 2500 truck for hauling trailer, plus just the heavy duty aspect of the pickup. I cant drive over 70mph without worrying. Even worse when pulling a trailer. Dodge needs to do something about this. I ask a dodge dealer about it and they act stupid, like they never heard of it. The least that dodge could do is send a bulletin to dodge dealers on how to fix it a, but i think its a major expensive design flaw, otherwise dodge would of corrected this dangerous problem years ago. $1900 worth of part and labor later, and still no fix. This is major b.s.this has happened maybe 15 times in the last year and a half i have owned the truck. Would have been alot more if i didn't have to babysit the truck so bad. Its pretty bad when you cant go over 50mph with a loaded car trailer being pulled by a 2500 pickup and have to worry about loosing control so easily. Someone please do something about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was sent a recall notice on possible faulty steering linkage i called first time 4/23/14 to schedule appt. Was told by parts manager at mount airy dodge parts are on back order will be in touch. Said i was #30 on list, in mean time receive second recall notice from dodge i call again on 8/26/14 still on waiting list was told possibility in two weeks they will call me. Very disappointed in dodge to send out recalls but have no replacements parts! how long would you wait?

October 31, 2015, i experienced the dodge "death wobble" twice within 10 minutes, speed approximately 50 to 55 mph on a 2 lane east bound road in modesto, calif., driving straight.luckily, no cars were close by. Previously, i have experienced a single wheel "death wobble".i am having to change the track bar bushings every 15,000 to 20,000 miles.they are worn out or in pieces.i have found the frame and the front differential are not in alignment.the differential needs to be pulled into alignmentwith the frame 1/4 inch(approx.) to install the bolt through the frame mount and the track bar bushing.this truck has never been in a collision to the front.the "death wobble" has been noticed on many truck websites.if i had been in traffic, it would have caused an accident.what is nhtsa doing about a recall by dodge to fix the problem, permanently?the truck was new when i bought it.i have changed addresses on registration and have not received any notices of the other recalls.

My truck will shake when you hit a bump when your going down the freeway. You can hardly control the vehicle when it happens. The front tires will shake uncontrollably till you get the vehicle stopped.

Truck was maneuvering in parking lot when a noise from the front of the truck was heard.vehicle was not steering well.placed vehicle in park and turned off motor.upon inspection of the front steering found the front left tie rod end sheared.

Truck still has "death wobble" after numerous fixes and recall by the dealer to correct over the last 9 years. Truck can not be driven at 70 mph or above with out it happening. Truck shacks and jumps violently and you can not control or keep it in your lane. Last time it happened was 12/05/2016.

I was driving on a 2 lane asphalt road at approximately 55mph.i was crossing a bridge and when i got to the end, there was a low spot in the roadway.when the truck hit the bump, the front end started shaking violently and uncontrollably and i had to hit the brakes and slow to 25 mph before it quit.on 12/17/2010 my wife was driving this vehicle at 70 mph on i-35.she said she hit an expansion joint in the roadway and the truck started shaking violently and she could not control it and went off into the center median before bringing it under control.

"dodge death wobble": 08/16/09 at approximately 0330 hours, i was driving (2005 dodge power wagon 2500 4x4)home from work (police officer) on the richmond-san rafael bridge.i experienced wobble in the steering.i was going 55 mph.the truck shook violently, then i lost my steering control.i hit lane #1 raised metal barrier, then drifted to the right side metal barrier, coming to complete stop.i looked underneath the front end of the truck and saw that a steering rod had been snapped, due to the force of the shaking.the steering rod came off of the steering stabilizer.i have done research about the "dodge death wobble" to find that i am not alone, and that dodge will do nothing about the major engineering/design flaw of the truck.

While traveling westbound on ga 53 towards rome, ga.as i entered a very long sweeping right curve at 60 mph, i hit a pothole or something in the roadway.it may have just been the raised tar strips from the dot's patching job, they are pretty rough.my steering wheel starting teetering left and right extremely violently at about a 20-25 degrees. Within seconds the entire front end was hopping to and from causing the truck to move in a straight path even though i was in the middle of a right handed curve of a state hwy!luckily there wasn't any traffic in the left-hand lane because that's where the truck went. I applied the brakes hard and slowed to about 20 mph and it just stop and was all normal again! as i was reeling from the experience and hoping it didn't break anything in, under or on my truck, i realized traffic was rapidly approaching from behind so i accelerated quickly and at some point around 55mph it started again! this time i applied he brakes more slowly and it seemed to worsen until suddenly at 30 mph it stopped again. After that i played with my speed and steering to try to get a feel for what was going on with my truck, as i have been hearing of this "death wobble" for several years, but never had experienced it. As i accelerated past 40 mph and turning the steering wheel even as slightly as just changing lanes it would start up again, but if i straightened up the steering soon enough, it would stop before getting to a full blown wobble again. This is extremely scary and i haven't let my family in the truck since. Please do something with dodge about this before someone gets hurt or killed!

I have had continuous issues with my 2005 dodge ram 2500 i have stated to dodge that i have stalling issues constantly they say their is nothing wrong and the steering issues are life threatening i have spent at least 4 or 5 grand on this truck trying to fix it make it safe to drive being dodge can't and now there is more recalls on air bags with no time frame to when they can fix and with the newest recall of the buy back theirs no recognition of it to the dealers as of yet like do i need to be the person that's just driving to work and crash due to steering loss and have the airbag deploy metal shards into my body to get some attention from these ppl would like to see dodge do something about this

We own a 2005 dodge 2500 4x4 has only 56,000 on it we get a very bad wobble that causes use to come to a dead stop when going 65 to 70 miles an hour when hitting a bump in road or a uneven area. Replace steering damper did not help had front end looked at by dodge dealer said everything looks good.

2005 dodge ram 2500 diesel 4x4 truck experiences frequent sudden loss of control due to front wheel shimmy (death wobble). Received recall notice but dealer stated my vehicle is not included in that recall. There is a tsb (22-005-006)on it but it should be a recall.

While backing out of a parking spot, my vehicle suddenly lurched - the left tie rod end had snapped off flush with the ball.this was the updated version of the tie rod end as well as the additional components required for the update (performed in march 2010 as a precaution when a friend's dodge ram had the same problem and ran into a ditch).dodge insists they have never heard of the problem??

I receive an important safety recall # n62 / nhtsa 13v-528 from chrysler corp. For the dodge truck listed above.this recall was sent to me last november of 2013.i had the vehicle inspected by tuttle dodge in tustin, ca. This is the dealer where i bought the truck in 2055.they confirmed that this vehicle need the safety repair and said that chrysler would inform mw when the parts arrive at their dealership so they can make the safety repairs.i have check with tuttle dodge every month since and was told that no parts were available.this repair is to the left tie rod, and if it breaks the driver would have no steering.this would result in 10,000 pound truck running completely out of control with understandable disastrous results.i want some help getting this vehicle repaired to a safe condition.please let me know what you can do.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Recurrent issue as i drive at speeds ranging from 35 mph to 75 mph and i hit a patch, hole or bump in the road my truck will start vibrating violently, feels like i am on a poko stick and i cannot control the steering.i took me accross 4 interstate lanes until i could stop the vibration which only quits when you come to a complete stop.the latest occurance took me into the quardrail damaging the passenger side.i had the truck looked at by the chrysler dealership and was told nothin was wrong.the left tieror had an outstanding recall but they said mine was inspected and did not need replaced.this has occured between 11 to 15 times since i bought the truck late last year and i believe it to be a serious issue needing investigating.

I have a 2005 dodge ram 2500 and recently the infamous "death wobble" has returned. It seems to happen only when the temperature of the outside air is above freezing, i'm going more than 65mph, and i hit a bump. The vehicle shakes uncontrollably, is almost impossible to keep the steering straight, and dangerously hard to remain in one lane. I must slow down rapidly to a speed under 45 to regain control.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact was driving approximately 5 mph when he noticed an abnormal noise from the front driver's side wheel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 59,000.

Bad front end vibration {death wobble} i have had this problem with this truck for about a year and spent about $3000.00 on it with the {new and improved steering linkage} that came from dodge and i still have death wobble. I talked to someone named [xxx] in customer support and she said to take it to dodge. I just got it back from pro chrysler jeep in northgleen colorado where they told me to keep a full tank of gas and 65 lbs of air in the tires and i wont have the problem. I still have the problem..this truck is a death trap when it starts shaking. I got stuck between a semi truck and a cement barrier when it went nuts and almost caused a huge crash on i70 and the tunnel. I want dodge to do a safety recall on this truck and any others that have this problem.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dealer had my truck twice since the recall.he told me that there was a tie-rod assembly, steering linkage and front end needed.i only have 49,000 miles on it and there's a recall for these defects with chryslerid 11v350000 - they old me that it would cost me $3,000 the first time and then i came back to get parts and now they are telling me they will give me a break on parts - this is fraud if there's a recall plus they should have fixed it the first time for free - it was totally under warranty at both times.

Dodge death wobble has happened numerous times the last time it broke the tie rod end and threw me off the road

The steering assembly has gone out twice on my truck, once at about 85,000 and once at 158000 miles.the first time the steering locked turning in both directions, the second time only turn to the left.preceding these occurrences, while driving highway speeds and going over a bump the truck starts shaking violently (death shake), and to control the truck i had to break sharply.the third steering assembly that was just installed at a local dodge dealership, within a couple of miles, the front end starts to shake at various speeds - two different vibration - one like the tires are out of balance, the other is a rapid vibration that you feel thru the steering column.this is very similar to the month preceding the steering failure.i had the balance of the tires checked, they were fine, but the vibration problems still exist.i looks like all three steering assemblies are bad - i have checked with a reputable mechanic, and they stated that the factory steering assemblies are no good for this truck.the dodge dealership has provided no help or resolutions, and i have even requested that they contact the factory for resolutions, but have declined to help.the last conversation they said it was a balancing issue - this was found out not to be true.

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling at high speeds of 75-80 mph and when going over a bump in the road, the steering wheel jerked back and forth violently.the front end shook badly; more on the driver's side.this is the fourth time the vehicle has been to the dealership for this problem.the first time the dealership replaced the sway bar bushings.the second and third times the dealer put an extra shock on the steering stabilizer bar and replaced an unknown steering part.the problem returned after each attempt to remedy by the dealer and only occurs at highway speeds.

Spent over $3000 on front end so far, still have death wobble at 40-50 mph, this will cause death or injury, when will dodge or safety institutes do something.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that the steering wheel had become hard to control and caused the vehicle to swerve. At cruising highway speeds, if a pothole is hit the truck will go into a violent "death wobble" until brought to a stop.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, there was a loss of steering control and the vehicle was unable to be maneuvered. In addition, the front driver side began to jerk violently when driving over a bump. The failure recurred six times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I have a 2005 dodge ram 4x4 (3rd generation ram). When i hit an irregular road condition such as the transition from a bridge to the road, or a bump or pot hole, at speeds over 45 mph the front end on the truck shakes violently. It causes the entire truck to shake violently and takes a bit of muscle to hold onto the steering wheel to keep it from getting out of control. Dodge has replaced (so far) the wheel bearings three separate times, they also replaced the entire steering linkage (tie rods, control arm ect..), ball joints at my expense to the tune of $1,200. They also recommended i put on a dual steering stabilizer which i did (cost $140). All of this and the truck still had the ?death wobble?. I then put on dual shock absorbers and filled the tires to 60 psi (10 psi over recommended) and the ?death wobble went away. It has been about 8,000 miles since i was able to make it go away and now it is coming back intermittently. I have had this problem intermittently since the truck has had about 38,000 miles. I have several friends with the same problem with their 3rd generation ram 2500 and 3500 series 4x4?s. Dodge recognizes that there is a problem but does not know what the cause is. They have issued tsb # k15782911. I have had my truck in on this tsb and i believe the work was done but the "death wobble" remained until i put on dual shocks and excessive tire pressure. This condition causes the entire truck to shake violently. My wife has driven off the road when it happened to her.the only way to make it stop is to slow down to a crawl quickly. It is a recurring problem that is happening to a lot of owners. I think the front axles on these vehicles should be recalled.

Vehicle just came off the expressway passenger side front steering ball joint broke as vehicle was being parked, the drivers side was replaced by dodge under recall. They did not want to except liability for the passenger side. It has been a little over a year and the drivers side they replaced under recall is showing a lot of play and needs to be replaced again.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving approximately 65 mph over an uneven road surface, the vehicle suddenly began to wobble back and forth abnormally. The contact decelerated to 45 mph and the wobbling ceased. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileage was 82,000.

On 9-10-11 i was driving my dodge ram 2500 on the same road as i always do and the steering wheel started shaking violently and i used up 2 lanes to get it under control. It will stop when the speed is about 45mph. I have replaced all the steering linkages with new. (dodge sells a 2009 upgraded steering system for this truck) installed new trac bar bushings, (originals were ok) installed new steering stabilizer, gear box bearing and had it aligned by the local dodge dealer. It is now not drivable as the "death wobble" is more frequent than ever. I now have a truck i cannot drive or sell and dodge will not listen. I have been driving for 33 years and have never experienced such a violent shaking and loss of control. Your my only hope!

I was driving down a side street and my right tie rod drop off losing control we went into on coming traffic, and crashed into the curb, luckily missing oncoming cars. Had the vehicle towed to perfection tire and 3 days later they not only replace the right tie rod but also the left tie rod, upper ball joints, lower ball joints, and replacing the right tire from accident. Costing me $1,911.33. A few weeks later, i get a letter from chrysler stating a problem with the left tie rod and if you have already experienced this condition and have paid to have it repaired, to send your original receipts to chrysler customer assistance. I did do this and they said this doesn't apply. We were suppose to tow our 5th wheel that day and go on our anniversary vacation. Thank god we were not on a freeway going 65 mph. I don't think we would have survived this trip, and possibly taking out a few others folks too. Makes me feel very uncomfortable knowing someone else out there may have the same issue.

We bought an 05 dodge ram 2500.on a trip with a small trailerafter hitting a bump the front end started shaking violently.(death wobble)after slowing the truck shaking went away.problem recurred several timeson this trip.on way home no issues. Trailer empty. Issue recurred while wife was driving truck to work, no trailer.bumps an potholes seem to set it off at speeds over 55mph.took to dealer they found no issues.put 2" spacer lift on truck with different tires. Problem seemed to go away. Over the past several years truck drives o.k unless hooked to a trailer.last occurrence was 10-2-11 on trip to south dakota. Problem recurred3 times in 5 miles.i made adjustments to equalizer hitch (tightened 1 link) and had no more issues on this trip. This is a major safety issue with these trucks and need to be addressed.web searches show this is a very common problem.it would be nice if dodge would issue a recall and fix this issue.

Backing out of a parking space; i heard a snap.as i turned the wheels to the left to pull forward, i heard another snap.whenthe pickup straightened out, i heard several popping noises and the steering caught.i rolled forward and the wheels didn't respond; the left tie rod had sheered off and the wheels were facing each other. I have the broken tie rod available for inspection.this was the new "improved" system.if this had happened on the highway, someone would be dead.the local dodge dealership sold me the piece at cost and suggested i call dodge.i called dodge and they had not heard of any other instances.there was another dodge involved in a similar scenario near gunnison, co in august.they were parking a fifth wheel camper at the time of breakage.again, thank god, they were not driving on the road when it occurred.

I had just left the dodge dealership in my town from having my left outer tie-rod end inspected for a recall, only to get a few miles down the road and my right outer tie-rod end completely failed. Luckily i wasn't driving down the interstate when it happened but i still had to avoid an accident.

Any time i would hit uneven pavement (bridge approach, pothole, dip in road, edge of shoulder) my truck would go into a violent and uncontrollable shaking.this occurred on a regular basis.each time, i would not be able to regain control until the speed of the vehicle slowed to approx. 15 or 20 mph.if on a straight stretch of road, it would hold straight until i regained control.if in a curve, the truck would either cross over or run off the road.when describing the symptoms to multiple dodge dealers, they referred to the issue as the "dodge death wobble".i have received two notices from dodge/chrysler regarding recalls.on the first recall, upon inspection, i was told that my truck did not qualify.by the time the second recall was released, i had already replaced all of my steering linkage to a new chrysler/mopar design.this upgrade was completed because dodge no longer offered parts for the 2003-2008 models and the only factory support parts option was to put 2009 steering linkage on an older truck.per the recall notice, i submitted my service records and charges to chrysler for reimbursement.my total cost to replace my steering linkage was approximately $715.the upgraded steering linkage has prevented loss of control from occurring again.i was contacted by phone and advised that my vehicle was not repaired with mopar parts and i needed to submit additional service records.when i challenged this feedback and asked to speak with a member of management, i was placed on hold when the representative then returned to advise that my truck did not qualify for the recall because it was not originally built with the defective parts.i again asked to speak with a member of management and was told i could not do so. I was told that i would be placed on a request list and should expect to hear back from someone within 24 hours.

When i hit a bump pot hole or rough spot in the road my vehicle get s the dreaded death wobble and i have to immediately reduce my speed to around 30 miles per hour and i'm afrai its going to break something in my steering and cause a crash ori'm going to get rear ended which has almost happened several time because of other drivers following to close

Steering box sector shaft broke off steering box, when vehicle was towed to dealership they notified me an upgraded steering system was already designed and i needed to pay for its installation, which i did. Sector shaft broken while driving out of a parking lot.

Dodge ram 2500 had a safety recall h46-mopar steering linkage.i want to also report that the steering gear itself is also faulty. I took my truck to a small repair shop in conifer, co that has since august 09 replaced this gear on 6 trucks. Our steering went out catastrophically going over a mountain pass, almost causing our deaths. Chrysler is not covering our steering gear replacement because the recall only covers the linkage.according to the shop owner, he is aware of the h46 recall. I want to make sure to register a complaint about the actual steering gear.

During normal speed on highway or interstate when a bump is hit the truck shakes violently until speed is reduced.this even has a phrase for it now "death wobble".this started at first while pulling a trailer but now it has progressed to anytime a bump is hit on the road at speeds above 60 mph.speed must be reduced to <40 to stop the violent shake in steering.

Truck experiences the "death wobble". It has had the front end redone twice, still has the problem. When i'm driving above 50mph, and hit a bump, sometimes the front end and steering wheel begin to violently shake and wobble. When it occurs, it is extremely dangerous, and very difficult to stop. It happened 4 times on a single trip.

Traveling about 65 mph on i-10 hitting a small bump in the road caused my 2005 dodge ram 2500hd 4x4 diesel to shake so violently i thought my break caliper had broken free of its mount. Hitting the breaks only prolonged the violent shaking. I had taken it to my local dodge dealer and was told my drive shaft had to be replaced. I had it replaced and the shaking repeated. I took it back to the dealer and was told that it was a broken cord in one of my tires and that i needed new tires. Those were replaced with michelins. Again the shaking accrued. At this point i lost faith in my local dodge dealer. I took my truck to a local mechanic and he told me that this was a common occurrence and i had to purchase a dodge upgrade kit to fix the problem. 4,000 dollars later my truck was fixed and i have not had any issues in 10,000 miles. When i asked my local dodge dealer about a recall or warranty work, i was told that it is normal wear and tear and that there were no safety concerns with this issue. On an average day with an average driver someone is going to be killed if dodge does not issue an across the board recall. The cause of this problem, known as the dodge death wobble, is due to the fact that lesser grade parts were used to support a steering that requires more support. Case in point; the dodge upgrade kit comes with components that are of a higher quality, size and weight to better support the steering system.

Tie rod end broke while driving down interstate. New updated steering parts were put on at my expense should of been notified of updated steering. There is a dozen other trucks with same set up that of done the same thing. It was a near miss of a really bad wreck driving down a smooth interstate it should of never happened.

I received the following recall notice in january of 2014. "during a prior service appointment, a mopar service parts steering linkage may have been installed on your truck. The drag link inner joint may fracture under certain driving conditions. This could result in a loss of steering control and cause a crash without warning.also, the steering damper bracket at the tie rod tube may loosen. This could allow the bracket to slide on the tube and may cause increased vehicle turning radius."after i took my vehicle to a local dealer they informed me the parts were backordered and they added me to their list. They also suggested i call them to check on the part if i didn't hear from them. I have received to additional recall notices on this matter since then. I have tried to call the dealer numerous times and can not get through to their service department. So i called chryslers recall phone number and was told they would flag my account and contact the dealer and have them call me which hasn't happened either. I am amazed that chrysler is being non responsive to a safety mater of this nature and have no other option than to report it to safecar.gov the dodge dealer ship i have been dealing with is clear lake dodge15711 gulf fwy, webster, tx 77598 (281) 481-1000.

Traveling on us93 out of kingman, az. Hit a patch of rough freeway and truck went into an uncontrollably death wobble. I was pulling a 12 foot haulmark motorcycle trailer when this occurred. It was a miracle we didn't crash. Got it slowed down and off the road everything appeared o.k. Proceeded cautiously and now it was pulling hard to the right like something was out of line. After driving for appx 25 miles, whatever was causing it to pull to right corrected itself. Over the next 1500 miles this has occurred on three more occasions once with trailer and twice without trailer. Have new shocks and tires ordered. Have and appt with dodge to have it checked out but have little faith in them.

While traveling between colorado and new mexico along interstate 25 at raton pass, we hit a bump at about 50-60 miles an hour and the vehicle went into a violent uncontrollable shake.steering could not be controlled, i just applied brakes until we came to a stop.i am going to take into a dodge service dept., but i've already been told by others traveling behind us that this is a fairly common occurrence and dodge refuses to acknowledge front end design issues.i hope this isn't true. This is a very serious issue that could easily end up with casualties or serious injuries.this issue occurred with no warning, and in an instant the vehicle goes wildly out of control.after coming to stop the vehicle shows no signs of problems and drives normally.

At approx. 45k mi vehicle developed severe "wobble" in front steering. Contacted dealer who disavowed any knowledge of occurances on other trucks. Contacted chrysler who directed me back to dealership. Took to dealership who tried to sell repair at $3400.00found many similar complaints on-line and suggested repair was to replace with "steering upgrade kit" marketed through dodge dealer at over $800.00. Had installed at my cost and now chrysler is saying my vehicle is not part of recall and to take back to dealership for inspection of replaced parts that are now individually being recalled.

While driving over a flyover (onramp) to get onto i-40 my 2005 dodge 3/4ton truck hit a bump and the front end starting jumping all over the road, the steering wheel started shaking violently. I almost went into the cement wall which could have resulted in a accident and possibly severe injury. This has happened twice since the first incident. This is a real safety concern for me and possibly other drivers on the road.

Death wobble on 2005, dodge ram 2500 4x4 cummings diesel. I was traveling 50 to 60 mph and the front end started shaking violently after hitting uneven pavement. It caused me to swerve in front of a semi tractor trailer who luckily stopped in time as i drove off the side of the interstate. This is not the first time it happened. Last time, approximately 6 months ago, i bought new tires. It seemed to help for a few months but it eventually happened again; once two weeks ago and twice today. The tires have very little wear. Today it ripped out the left front stabilizer link. When i bought the new tires, i told the service technician about it and he said i needed new wheel bearings, upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, right front axle u-joints, and stabilizer links; adds up to over $3,000. This truck only has 150,000 miles.

My dodge ram 2500 truck has a violent death wobble issue. At freeway speeds when hitting an uneven bump in the pavement the truck goes into a sustaining death wobble type motion in the front end. It is extremely scary, and quite dangerous. The truck is completely out of control and must be slowed to approximately 30 mph for the wobble to stop. I've taken my truck to the dodge dealer several times and they cannot find the problem. I've replaced everything, the axle, steering dampener 3 times, ball joints, alignment adjustments, new tires. The problem goes away for a short time but then always returns. I'm afraid to drive my truck on the freeway and my kids are afraid to drive in my truck period. When it happens it's very wild and scary. All the traffic around me slows down and swerves to get away from my truck. It's not only dangerous and scary, but embarrassing too.i don't know what to do. I've tried everything and nothing is working. Dodge is pretty much useless. They turned their back on me since all the components check out fine. They said there's nothing that they can do.i need a resolution for this problem.

Recall notice n62/nhtsa 13v-528 (left tie rod).i've been trying to get this recall noticed resolved for almost 6 months and chrysler will not release the part to the dealer.why send a recall notice if you're not going to replace the part?i am fearful for my and my families safety which seems to be a contradiction to chrysler's comments stating "we are sincerely concerned about your safety".if they were concerned they would replace the part in a timely manor.

When i was driving down a mountain, the tie rod separated from the passenger side tire. I was travelling 35 mph down a windy road. The ball bearing that holds them together failed. As i understand, this was the subject of nhtsa recall number 13v-528. However, this only covers the right left side of he vehicle. Its ridiculous that it does not cover the other side, as the same failure happened. My truck has 136,000 miles on it. This is a danger and must be addressed by dodge. I will be able to upload a photo tomorrow of the damage.

Received the safety recall n62/nhtsa 13v-528 in dec 2013, did not make it to the dealership until mar 2014 do to all of the bad winter weather. They said i had the suspect tie rod and would be put on the list for the repairs and was told i was # 70 on the list. I have since called several times and am told each time they don't have the parts from chrysler and that chrysler only sends them a few parts at a time. Looks like i will never get this item repaired?

Having experienced the "dodge death wobble" several times, i am already cautious when driving at highway speeds.i was crossing a bridge and hit the expansion joint on the exit side.the truck veers hard left and i cross the middle lines and am halfway into the other lane.i had the wheel turned ninety degrees past straight and the truck continued pulling left.a motorist in an oncoming car veered sharply right and we narrowly missed a head on collision.the truck started to respond to my turning right as all the other occupants asked what happened.i showed them how far i was turning right to go straight, and i let the wheel turn back to center and the truck darts hard left again.by this time i had greatly reduced my speed, so it was much more controlled.i pulled over and inspected the front end of the truck, expecting to find something broken or disconnected, but it was all there and right.i had my wife turn the wheel back and forth and it was all functioning properly.not knowing what else to do i cautiously pulled back onto highway and it was fine.we were almost in a serious collision.i have zero confidence in this vehicle at highway speeds.

Massive uncontrollable shaking in the front end of my truck.i can not drive my truck over 50 miles per hour without fear that i will loose control if it starts to shake and not be able to get it off of the road without rolling it or hitting another vehicle.it does this any time you hit a bump or go over an extension joint in the road.i have replaced the front end bearings, all 4 shocks, had a front end alignment and put new tires on it.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500.the contact stated while driving 80 mph over a road bump, the vehicle began to wobble.the contact applied the brakes and regained control of the vehicle.the contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic for a diagnostic test.the mechanic notice wear in the tie rods but advised the contact that the wobble was not caused by the tie rod and that the vehicle was safe to drive. The contact tried to order tie rod parts to repair the vehicle but the parts needed were unavailable.the contact stated the pitman arm connecting to the spindle also needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 139,000.updated 02/15/12*ljupdated 02/17/12

My steering box broke right at the shaft and almost killed my family and good friend.

While going about 65 mph, hit a joint in the road on an overpass.the front end started shaking violently and continued to do so until the truck was slowed to about 30 mph.this isn't the first time this has happened.i've had it checked by a couple mechanics and a dealership.no one saw anything that should/would cause this to happen.after this last incident, i took the vehicle to another dealership who told me it was the steering dampener.they noticed it was leaking.i have been under the truck before and it wasn't leaking prior to this 'death wobble,' rather, i feel thatis leaking because of the violent shaking.i know of 3 other people with 2003-2006 dodge ram 2500's that have also experienced this.a simple search on the internet gets thousands of hits.dodge needs to fix this problem.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that the steering wheel failed and became loose while driving. The vehicle was towed to the local mechanic who located a failure at the steering tie rod assembly. The steering tie road assembly was replaced. Prior to the failure, the contact received a notice for nhtsa campaign number: 13v528000 (steering); however, the part was not available for the repair. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 266,759.

I just purchased my used 2005 dodge ram 2500 and decided to take it on a 1500 mile round trip to test it out.at speeds over 55 mph, i experienced the death wobble whenever i would hit uneven pavement.my conservative estimate is that it happened no less than 50 times during the trip.it was very scary and dangerous as many times i was traveling 70 mph with semis right beside me.the dodge dealer quoted me over $1200 to replace the steering dampener as well as the ball joints, with no guarantee that it would even fix the problem.this could have very easily caused a death if someone less experienced than myself was driving.i am very surprised that dodge has not intervened with this obvious design flaw as it could very well cause serious injury including death.

I was driving home from the store with my 3 year old son traveling approximately 45-50mph and there was a spot in the road that we ran over which was a repair so it was raised up a bit from level. After running over the repair the infamous dodge death wobbled started. Once the shaking started i immediately started slowing down but unfortunately for us the death wobble sheared the tie rod end that is connected to the pitman arm completely off of the truck so i had no steering control over the truck and we flew in to the next lane and wound up on the shoulder hitting the curb. This is completely ridiculous that a manufacturer would allow this issue to persist for years. Dodge had this issue starting with 2003 trucks. I have spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars trying to fix this issue and dodge always says "well maybe it is this" and wants more money. Why should i have to pay for their [xxx] product. It almost killed my son and i.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dodge death wobble...2005 dodge 2500 driving at highway speeds, hit a bump in the road or a bridge and the front end shakes violently.

Driving on the hwy 5 doing 70 mph long straight away hit a bump and it felt like all my tires popped at once. Very violent shaking through out the whole truck! had to pull over to get it to stop shaking before i lost control and crashed into another car! have spent $2000 trying to fix this problem! a dodge 2500 2005.

At 50 mph if the truck hits a bump on the road, it goes to a violent shake until the truck is slowed to 30mph. Very scary as the truck got thrown into the other lane. This has been happening for a year now. The dealer can't seem to fix the issue. I already spend $2500 and now it seems i need to spend another $1500.

The contact stated that he had his vehicle repaired under recall nhtsa campaign number: 13v528000 (steering) however after the repair was made swapped out the steering linkages that reverted the vehicle to the previous safety issue described in nhtsa campaign number: 09v005000 (steering) that originally the contact did not have until the recall was performed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic. The dealer stated they had to swap out the steering linkaging to comply with safety recall:13v528000 and the entire linkage would need to be reverted back to the original defective part. At speeds over 50 miles per hour if the truck hits a pothole or minor bump in the road, such as bridge seams, the front of the vehicle shakes violently. Occurs continuously. The dealer stated"it has the off road package which makes it unstable?" my mechanic repeatedly balanced and rotated the tires but the vehicle still shakes until the speed is lowered below 40 mph. He has not found any defective parts but at the rate of shaking it is bound to break front end parts. Occured more often when the truck was brand new and decreased as the tires wore. After the tires were replaced the problem is critical. The new tires are the same as the original equipment.

At speeds above 45mph the vehicle violently wobbles and renders the steering almost uncontrollable. This is commonly referred to as the "death wobble". I understand this problem has been addressed with this "buy back" program but it is only for 2008 and newer model years. I'm not looking to have my vehicle bought back but i do want this problem corrected. I have been to the dealer as well as numerous repair shops to have this corrected and after thousands of dollars spent and multiple parts replaced the problem still persists .updated 12/18/15*lj

While parked after a short drive, the driver's door lock actuator failed in an unsafe mode (locked).failure mode caused door to remain locked despite key turn effort to unlock.in addition, the door cannot be unlocked by lifting the manual lock control near the driver's left elbow.this single point of failure resulted in no way to enter the vehicle since there is not a key access to the right front door.a keyless entry system option mitigates the risk, but is not always installed.if an injured person or small child was inside the vehicle and unable to actuate the door handle from inside, it would not be possible for them to be helped in their egress from outside.this failure mode is so common that there are youtube videos on the part replacement.ignoring the safety implication of this high frequency single point of failure is unconscionable on the part of the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. When the contact purchased the vehicle, he noticed a piece of the body filler fall out from under the front driver's door. He also noticed that eight inches from the frame was corroded through. Driver door lock is stuck down in lock position. Power door locks and key will not open door. Door will open from inside door latch. Have been many complaints on this issue on the forums.

Driving accross the kingston rhinecliff bridge and heard clunking and scraping from under the truck bed. I pulled over to inspect the undercarriage and noticed the gas tank strap had rusted and failed leaving the gas tank hanging.

I noticed a rust bubble under the paint a few inches above the rear tire on the passenger side. I removed the paint on the 1/4" diameter area and coated with touch up paint. After a week the rust started bleeding thru the touch up paint and i noticed a couple of more bubbles. I then removed these bubbles with a hand held pencil type grinder, coated with primer, then touch up paint only to find the same thing a few weeks later. I have doing a little research and this seem like a common issue. Due to the inner fender i can not get to the back side of the fender to stop the issue. Looks like the design allows water/salt/debris to be trapped in this area.

Both rear wheel wells are rusting out from inside out. I know this is a old vehicle now but this should rust from outside in. I take very good care of truck so it doesn't rust away on me,this is very frustrating to have happen. Rust will eat thru soon enough and rocks will be able to be flung out at other cars.

After driving over an abrupt bridge abutment, the vehicle's front end began an oscillation or death wobble until the speed was reduced below 45mph.this was experienced 2 other times similar set up with road irregularity at 60 mph.tie rods and ball joints replaced in front end, thrust angle aligned, problem remains.

This vehicle was recalled on recall n62 in january, 2014. In may 2014 i was advised by dodge that parts were being restricted and that the dealer would receive one (1) part per week. This meant that i would have to wait over one (1) year to have the vehicle fixed. It appears that dodge is stalling on repairs. Can anything be done other than appeal to the media?

When you hit a little bump in the road going 55mph or higher front end wobbles almost causing u too lose control of vehicle.

My dodge truck goes into a violent shaking death wobble when i hit a bump on the freeway. It bounces and shakes uncontrollably until i slow down to approx. 25mph. Its dangerous and scary and there doesn't seem to be any known cure. Chrysler promised me theyd help me with the problem in 2011 but couldn't figure out what was causing it. Now theyre turning their back on me and saying the truck is too old. Iv been trying to fix the problem since 2007.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving 60 mph over a bump in the road, the vehicle violently vibrated. The failures ceased once the vehicle was stopped.

I received therecall for the front suspension problems and took truck to dealer. I believe it was recall n64. Dealer refused to fix truck as it is lifted and they are the ones who did it, said it did not neednew parts as parts were replaced when they lifted it. Well, it death wobbles if you go over 40 mph andwas doing it when i took it to them. Cannot use freeway, surface streets only with affects mileage, it might get 8-9 mpg if i am lucky. The truck shakes violently and it feels like it is bucking. It needs to be stopped to stop it from shaking. The front tires are being eaten from the violent shake. In fact it did it on a surface street the other day. The road had been repaired and as there was no way to avoid it, i ran over the patch. It did it again. A lady behind me stopped to see if i was ok.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph over a road bump, the front end of the vehicle started jerking violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was not able to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who advised the contact to call a different dealer for a second opinion. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 170,000.

Dodge death wobble has happened numerous times the last time it broke the tie rod end and threw me off the road

We were traveling on interstate 84 about 600 miles round trip on vacation when we would hit a bump or seam in the road and the truck would begin shaking violently causing panic and some loss of steering control.i've learned this is referred to as the infamous dodge death wobble

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, both rear wheels seized suddenly. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the rear differential would have to be replaced because the pinion nut retainer clip had become detached and caused damage to the rear differential. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for the repair. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000.

Front end death wobble after hitting a bump at 65 mph

While backing out of a typical driveway, the left tie rod suddenly failed (described by our mechanic as 'sheared off at the pivot connection/knuckle'.)the tie rod had been replaced, as part of "updated front tie rod kit", along with steering damper, pitman arm and all ball joints in august of 2010 (91382 miles on vehicle at that time) as the solution to severe 'death wobble.'it should also be noted that all ball joints had already suffered sever wear and required replacement in march of 2011, with about 126223 miles on the truck.

Sway and body roll

When truck hits bump in road at more than 55 miles it gets death wobble ,severe shaking in front end and have to stop to stop shaking.

The contact described the failure as the death wobble. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the upper and lower ball joints, the axle joints, and tie rod ends were replaced. The contact also replaced the wheel bearings. The failure continued to occur after the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

2005 dodge ram 2500 diesel 4x4 truck experiences frequent sudden loss of control due to front wheel shimmy (death wobble). Received recall notice but dealer stated my vehicle is not included in that recall. There is a tsb (22-005-006)on it but it should be a recall.

Driving on the interstate drove over an area that had bee patched and the left fornt wheel began vibrating making it extreamly difficult to steer.the truck pulled to the left and would not stop until the truck came to a complete stop.

The contact noticed that the lower control arms on both the driver and passenger sides folded or bowed like an inverted v. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the lower control arms needed to be replaced as well as the front driveshaft. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. Updated 01/10/2017*ctupdated 01/11/17.

This truck is dangerous, it has death wobble and shakes violently when you hit a small bump, it has happened numerous times to me. Why hasn't this truck been recalled??????????????

The contact owned a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While exiting the freeway at 65 mph, the contact attempted to make a left turn and the vehicle shook violently. The contact veered the vehicle to the shoulder of the road where it came to a complete stop. The vehicle resumed normal operation and was taken to orange coast chrysler jeep dodge ram fiat (2929 harbor blvd, costa mesa, ca 92626, (714) 549-8023) where it was diagnosed that the front end linkages needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 195,000.

Dodge death wobble...2005 dodge 2500 driving at highway speeds, hit a bump in the road or a bridge and the front end shakes violently.

Death wobble after hitting a bump.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving over 70 mph, the vehicle experienced severe vibration. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but no failure could be found. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

At cruising highway speeds, if a pothole is hit the truck will go into a violent "death wobble" until brought to a stop.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph, the vehicle exhibited a grinding sound as the vehicle suddenly stopped. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the track bar was broken. The contact towed the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer stated that the track bar unit was broken and needed to be replaced. The track bar was not replaced. The failure mileage was 144,000.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving at high speeds, the vehicle shook violently without warning and the steering wheel seized. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the diagnostic results were unknown. The independent mechanic also stated that the power steering cap detached from the vehicle and caused the power steering fluid to pour out. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 164,834.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that the steering wheel failed to steer straight, making it difficult to maneuver the vehicle.in addition, the front end of the vehicle shakes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer wasnotified of the failure. The failure mileage was 129,000.

Driving on an interstate highway in california, after hitting a minor road bump, the truck started to shake violently. The front wheels were moving in and out of plane (vertically) and felt like they were bouncing on the road surface. This has occurred many times since,. And is not relieved by any component replacement or maintenance item repair. .this is an engineering flaw in the design of the suspension system and requires some expertise on the part of chrysler to design a repair to change the architecture of the suspension system. This issue can result in a major accident ifa driver is unaware of it's impending chance of occurring.. I live with this danger every day and am awaiting some information on how to repair. The only likely repair is probably an aftermarket suspension upgrade to change the suspension system dynamics.

An intermittent front end shimmy happens often, but twice now i have been driving at highway speeds and hit a bump and the front end went out of control, wobbling back and forth and hopping uncontrollably, when i hit the brakes it got worse so all i could do is coast until the it stopped, both times it stopped once i got down to about 40 mph.one of these times my son was with me and i thought for sure the truck was going to roll or go out of control.my wife happen to be following me and she was in the lane next to me and a little behind me, her and my daughter said it looked like my wheels where going to fall off the way they where wobbling.this has happened both with front tire pressure at 40psi and 60psi.it was much worse when the tires where at 60psiafter looking this up on the internet i found what people are calling a death wobble and they also say dodge has a tsb # 22-055-06for this problem, but i am unable to find anything on it from dodge.my truck is a 2005 dodge ram 2500 4x4 four door.

2005 dodge ram 2500 quad cab 4x4,i get a very, very bad front end shake, also known as the death wobble whenever i hit a small pothole or dip in the highway.usually happens at speeds above 50 miles per hour.took it to the dealership and they replaced the track bar bushings.

Vehicle wobbles violently if you hit a bump in the road traveling at speeds between 40 to 75. It shakes to the point where i need to slow down sometimes to 15 mph before it stops. Other drivers see this and they slow or pull off the road to give me room. I have taken the truck to the dealer and they find nothing wrong. I have changed all tires, rims, shocks and steering stabilizer and still the problem is there. The truck has 57k miles on it now and this problem started approx 2 years ago and i have been trying to fix it ever since. The dealer advises there is nothing wrong with the truck but i am certain that it is something mechanical. A google search revealed several others who have experienced this same problem. There was one blog that stated that the stock tracking arm is the culprit and must be replaced. It further advised not to replace it with another stock tracking arm as they continue to be lees than appropriate for this truck. My truck is back at the dealer at this time and this information was forwarded to the service advisor. I am hopeful that this replacement of what is being described as inadequate for its application will not be the burden of the vehicle owners. I am assuming that the replacement parts would be checked and their design standard be elevated to perform on their designed application. This violent shaking is without a doubt a safety issue not only to the operator and passengers but also to other motorist in close proximity. The last incident occurred on the date listed below which is the same day it was taken back to the dealer. This condition has been occurring continuously for the past 2 years. Some incidents not as severe as others but still a safety concern.

2005 dodge truck / ram/ pick up/ 4x4/2 door/ diesel continues to shake violently.i have to come to a complete stop to stop the shaking.dodge service continues to charge me the fix the problem however the death shake returns.dodge has charged me over $10,000 in repairs & still not fixed. I believe they know what the problem is & they can't fix it as it is a major design flaw.now they're telling me a couple of new front tires will "fix" the problem.so far, i have bought new steering linkage, tires, balance tires, front end alignment, steering dampener, hub brake.now they are telling me the replace the axles for $ 2,000.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that the steering wheel and front end of the vehicle would jerk violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure but advised the contact to install a suspension kit. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 61, 000.

Pick-up experiences a violent wobble in the front end at higher speeds. The only way to make it stop is to slow down below 20 mpg. Very dangerous situation!!!

I own a 2005 dodge ram 2500 4x4 and am constantly experiencing what is known as the death wobble.this is when the front end starts shaking violently, to the point where the vehicle loses all control.this happens every time i hit a bump, pothole, bridge, anything in the road.this is experienced at speeds of 30mph and above.i experience this issue about once a week.i am not the only one with this issue, there are hundreds and hundreds of people online that are experiencing this issue.the issue is none of them know to file a complaint on here to get the ball rolling against daimler chrysler.

Dt: consumer states thatvehicle pulls from left to right.the caster is out of alignment.technician at pacific service and development states that is probably due to human error, and he could fix it.consumer stated that he had the problem since he bought the vehicle.consumer thought it may be the tires.the technician stated that the sidewall was only two ply, and consumer felttheyweren't strong enough for the front end.

'death wobble': severe shaking of the front suspension.happened at speeds over 45 mph, usually after hitting small bumps or irregular road surfaces.several (6-8) episodes over 1 month period.required decrease of speed from highway speeds to less than 30 mph or even full stop to end episode.in one particular episode (8/11/10)was towing up an incline on a two lane highway was forced to slow from 65 mph to 25mph while trying to move onto narrow shoulder to avoid danger with other traffic behind us.despite no noted worn out suspension components (inspected by independent and dealer mechanics, some tie rod wear noted only) repair involved replacing steering components, pitman arm, tie rods & ball joints.dealer retained old parts.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that when driving 50 mph and above, he would hear a grinding noise from the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised him to replace the front ball joints. The vehicle was repaired once before and the failure recurred within 60,000 miles. The manufacturer was not contacted to report the failure and the vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000. The vin was unavailable.

My truck shakes violently at 70mph then it stops when i slow down to 45mph. I've put my stock tiers and rims on and still does it. No one is able to find any thing wrong with the truck.

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle had 6,000 miles when the tires started showing signs of wear.the vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection of the tires.the dealer determined the cause of the tire wear was due to both front upper and lower ball joints being severely worn.the dealer replaced the ball joints and the vehicle operated normally.

I recently got my 2003 dodge ram p/u 2500 2wd inspected. I was told that my front end squeaks and this is due to no ball joint grease. This vehicle has 16000 miles on it. I was told that i had a warranty problem. I contacted the dealer and they set me up for an appointment yesterday. I stopped in and explained what i was told. The person that wrote up my work order advised me that chrysler frowns upon them stating this fact in the work order and instead, he wrote that the complaint was ball joint noise poss. Loose balljoint. During this stage, the service manager spoke up and told me that they had just put both upper and lower balljoints in a 2004 truck which is a year newer than mine.the dealer later contacted me and agreed with the original diagnosis by the inspection station, and indicated that both the upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced and this would be under warranty. He then explained that the parts are on a national back order. I was told to pick up my truck and they would call me when the parts came in. When i picked up the vehicle this morning 5/27, the service manager spoke to me regarding the national back order and stated, does that tell you that theres a problem with the particular part! my concern here is that i would not expect to even consider this part to wear out for 50k-80k miles under normal use. Given that these parts need replacement now, i should expect to replace these parts 10 times or more over the life of the vehicle since there aren't any grease fittings on them so that i could replenish the grease. Could you please advise me if this is something that you are aware of and dealing with? thank you for your consideration

Could you please advise me if this is something that you are aware of and dealing with? thank you for your consideration

While rotating my tires at 30,000 miles, i discovered some top-to-bottom play on the right front wheel.thinking this could be possible wheel bearing wear, i took it to the dealer who diagnosed that the right front upper ball joint needed to be replaced.work to be performed under warranty.

Front wheel bearing is bad.same issue as the nhtsa campaign number is 07v-038 (or 07v038000 except my truck is a 2005 dodge 2500 diesel 4x4 slt.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500. During a front end alignment, the dealer stated that the wheel bearings were worn out. There were no recalls for the failure and the warranty was not valid. The contact was awaiting repairs. The failure and current mileages were under 84,000.updated 2/17/10 updated 02/22/10

Dash is cracking in multiple area. Seems to be getting progressively worse. Defrost vents are falling apart and becoming lodged in the vents. Worried about these pieces breaking and becoming sharps projectiles in the evening of a collision. Not safe.

Spare tire carrier.the cable that hoist the spare tire under the bed of the truck broke at the end of the cable causing the tire to fall to the ground.this happened while i was driving at 55 mph while towing a fifth wheel camper. The camper ran over the tire causing damage to my fifth wheel.both axles are now bent on the camper, bent a rim, destroyed a tire, tore a jack stabilizer off of the camper.the tire just missed my wife who was driving behind me.we were traveling on a paved road. Thank god that nobody was injured or killed from this free rolling tire.i called dodge about the problem, at first i was told that it was a maintenance problem, i informed them that the owners manual does not mention anything about maintenance for the spare tire carrier.i was then told that the vehicle was too old.this is a 2005 model that i bought brand new, i am the only owner of the vehicle.the truck is in almost perfect shape.i have only used the spare tire once, that was about 7 years ago. This is also the only time that the tire has been lowered.

Driving on the highway at 60 mph suddenly my front tires started bouncing up and down in opposed [xxx]. Scared the life out of my wife and me ! i receive d in the mail a notice of a recall on my tierod ball joints and went to cook chrysler dealership on rt 40 aberdeen md. They said they cannot get the parts ! they have a whole list of people who have the same problem !! whats going on ? its a recall . I would like an answer, but more, i want parts ! i will be contacting the attorney general. Sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

The contact owned a 2005 dodge ram 2500. While driving approximately 75 mph and while applying the brakes to slow down, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a construction site. The driver suffered a neck injury and the front passenger suffered a fractured sternum and injuries to the right foot and left lung. Medical assistance was required and a police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,000.

The contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 2500 diesel. The contact was driving approximately 5 mph when the vehicle accelerated to 30 mph without warning. The contact forcefully applied the brakes and shifted into park but the vehicle did not respond and continued to accelerate. Suddenly, the vehicle jumped over and crashed into a ditch, flipped and caught on fire. The contact sustained injuries to the lower back, shoulders and head. The contact was transported to the hospital via ambulance. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and an investigator was sent by the manufacturer to inspect the failure. The investigator was unable to diagnose the failure due to the severity of the fire. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. The vin was unavailable.

While on the off ramp to the stop at the bottom dodge ram gas pedal stuck down causing the truck to accelerate causing the truck to leave the road at around 85+ mph then dropping off the road to an 400+ drop.

Defrost windshield, no air.

My safety issue is the fact that i cannot control the airflow to the windshield for safe visibility, the inability to prevent or clear fogging. Snow-ice etc. From my windshield and side windows. Due to failure of transfer doors from poor engineering in the heating and ac system. A very expensive repair especially for some one on a fixed income. This failure seems to be a common fault on 2002-2007 dodges at just over 40000 miles.

Windshield wipers work erratically if at all. The intermittent wiper function timing is off, it will wipe twice, wait a minute, wipe once, wait a minute or two, wipe four or five time back and forth, no matter what the speed setting. The wipers will also get stuck up or in the middle and flat out not work at all sometimes. This is all when it is raining or trying to use windshield wiper fluid to clean the windshield.

Vehicles wipers don't work correctly. They go on and off randomly. I have witnessed them turning on while the vehicle was parked and turned completely off with no key in the ignition. While driving the wipers won't go on when i need them most.

Windshield wipers cycle randomly. Driving at freeway speeds with the wipers operating in the on position (not the delay setting) they will completely stop operating and begin again. Cycling the switch to the off position will not turn them off. Turning the switch to the delay position will not activate. Only working in the on and high setting, randomly. Also, while standing outside if the truck with keys in hand (vehicle engine off, no keys in ignition), pushed the remote key fob to unlock the doors and the wipers cycled 1 time. Truck was not running, no persons in the vehicle. When they do operate in the on/low setting, turning them off will randomly stop them in drivers line of sight. This is a safety issue.

Wiper system refused to operate. Warmed up the vehicle for an hour and a half, still no operation. Second time this happened. Thought maybe it was frozen since very cold weather, but the wipers didn't even try to move, they could be manually moved a bit.

Windshield wiper works intermittently and will stop sporadically during the cycle. In delay mode the wipers may or may not operate and may delay then continuously wipe or just not work at all. Very dangerous while driving due to visibility and the need to keep looking down at the windshield wiper control. Researching the problem this is a common issue that appears dodge hasn't resolved.

The heater in the truck will not throw out heat in vents on top of dash and only put heat out on drivers side in other vents for floor or panel. So there is no heat coming out of defroster vents. Will not defrost front windshield. Cannot see out of windshield cannot safely drive vehicle. This is a wide spread problem with these trucks.

When i turn on my windshield wipers to any intermittent position, they will work properly for 5-10 cycles then will cycle 4-5 times in a row without any delay between cycles. On a few occasions the wipers have stopped in the middle of the windshield and remain their until i am able to turn them off and move the control switch to the off/fast position several times. Very unsafe in winter in washington.

This vehicles wipers will start or stop at any given time when you have them on i have also had them to whip with the switch turned off this has been a problem for a few years intermittently has never worked correctly very unsafe auto to drive thank you.

Wipers work fine in high or low position but are sporadic and or stop completely in the intermittent position.

Windshield wipers do not work properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!turn on by themselves, stay on constant when in delay, don't come on at all, or have no delay at all but am able to turn on in low or high positionshave changed relays, multi function switch, wiper motor, fcm nothing has worked and i can not get help from dealership bought the vehicle used.

I have a dodge ram 2500 4 wheel drive truck that has 35200 miles on it. The front right wheel hub bearing has gone out and the other side is almost worn out the dealer wants 424.00 per wheel to replace them. I see that there is a recall ( 07v03800) on the 2006 1500 trucks but the dealer said that my truck is not covered due to the time has lapsed i have friends & relatives that have dodge trucks that had bad hub bearings replaced under warranty. This is a safety issue due to the wheel can fall off if it goes too long. Please check this out before someone gets killed or hurt.

Dodge death wobble has happened numerous times the last time it broke the tie rod end and threw me off the road

Severe crack in stock rim on 2005 dodge 250 truck.found when installing new tires. Large crack was approximately 1 inch long from outside edge towards center hairlining out to each side and would soon completely brake apart.found on front of vehicle but could be any rim.replacing rim with used rim.this could be an extreme crash problem if rim brakes apart at highway speeds.

2005 ram 2500 4x4. Kmc xd rockstar rims (20*10"), 37*12.5*20 nitto terra grappler tires. I've had the xd rims for 2 1/2 years, no problems, all hiway miles, no off-roading. Sitting in driveway for 3 days, i noticed a flat tire, after airing up to 50 psi as described on door jam, i sprayed down with soapy water looking for leak, huge bubble occurred on the base of the rim, cleaned the area and found a 3/4" crack leaking air. Kmc will evaluate the rim for warranty. I've since read many stories of the same wheel having cracks.
