My 2002 dodge ram 2500 quad truck dash board started to crack about three years ago. When i checked with my dealer i was told that it would not be covered by warranty.shortly later i was walking in a walmart parking lot and notice a 2001 dodge ram 1500 which had a dash board cracked worse than mine.i then made a trip to many used car lots--i found that seven (7) out of ten (10) 2001+ dodge ram pickups i checked had cracked dashes.i contact dodge with my complaint and what i had observed in other dodge pick ups and asked about any recall for the problem.i was sent the typical form letter that said sorry not under warranty nor recall. Now where cracks joined chunks of the dash have fell in leaving gaping holes with jagged edges.i have never had an accident in my truck and god forbid if i should--can just see all the jagged parts of the dash flying and with the force of the airbags just what injures would be received.in fact i have cut the passenger side air bag off for fear of additional injury to my wife in an event of an accident. Also mine is not an isolated event--one could spend countless hours reading of the same complaint on the web.but to date dodge has done nothing. I have seen where some dealers have covered half the labor cost--you can rest assured that was from the dealer and not dodge just to maintain good customer relations! this is a safety hazard in that sever injuries could be received from the deployment of the air bags.

This diesel truck was started in order to let it warm up. Owner went into a building to retrieve a pair of gloves and returned 5 min later to find the vehicle on fire. Smoke was pouring out of the front cowl at the base of the windshield. Entry to the vehicle was attempted in order to put the fire out however the locking mechanism kept the doors shut so entry could not be attained. The truck was on fire and it had locked the doors. The drivers side window had to be busted out with a fire extinguisher in order to gain entry. Once the fire was extinguished the problem area was evident. The entire heater blower area was melted.

The plastic dashboard and related underpinnings and suport structure for everything from passenger airbag, radio, climate control and vents, headlight, mirror defroster, gauge pod, onboard diagnostic plug, etc. Began disintegrating in large sharp pieces while driving. These pieces cut wiring and fles for anything and everything and are distracting and dangerous inmultiple ways worse if in an accident.i had to remove radio, and disable airbags for safety. Replacement parts alone are potentially in the thousands, not including labor and wiring harness repairs.

Dash board is crumbling exposing numerous controls, gauges, wiring, and airbag components which is a huge safety concern. The a/c has seized to work anymore due to electrical problems which is spreading to other control gauges and components. The safety of the airbag system is now a concern.

Consumer states while driving at 35mphin a frontal collison none of the airbags deployed on impact. Passenger was serious injured. Vehicle was badly damaged.nlm

Driving down the interstate going about 75 mph i needed to brake but noticed the truck was not slowing down and the rpm were not reducing, in fact they were increasing. Despite me not having my foot on the pedal the truck would not slow down. I had to use extreme pressure on the brakes and pull off the road to get the truck to slow down. Once slowed if i released pressure off the brakes the truck would start to accelerate. I put the truck into park and the rpm went up to 5000 and stayed. I turn off the truck and turned it back on to find the rpms immediately go up to 5000 rpms. I turned off the truck got out and noticed smoke and heat coming out from my wheels, due to the extreme braking required to stop the truck. Knowing something of cars i decided to look at the throttle body to see if it was jammed open and removed air filter assemble. When i removed the air filter assembly i found the air filter assemble o-ring (the seal that goes between the throttle body and air filter assembly) jammed between the throttle body housing and valve, valve was about 45 degrees from the closed position. Part of the seal was still between the air filter assembly andthrottle body housing and the other part was jammed in the throttle body. I reassembled the air filter assembly without to seal and continued to drive. I had to replace the rotors and front brake pads due to the extreme braking of the incident.

My 2002 dodge ram 2500 is having problems with its vp-44 engine pump. It gets a "dead pedal" and in traffic it suddenly stops. There isn't anything you can do but pull over until it comes back on. This isn't a good thing in heavy traffic, especially on a 4 line road in the left lane. This almost caused an accident with a speeding semi (he almost rear ended me!).

The contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 2500. The contact was driving approximately 70 mph when the vehicle experienced an abnormal reduction in engine power. The vehicle was turned off and the battery cables were disconnected. After waiting ten minutes, the battery cables were reconnected and the vehicle resumed as normal. The erratic failure recurred fifteen times. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

While pulling out of the driveway, there was no power steering and no brakes.after the vehicle was towed to the dealer, no defects were found, however , the vehicle was suspected to have a valveleaked. The consumer later saw oil on the ground, got into the vehicle and the same thing occurred again. He let the vehicle run for a few minutes and the power and brakes came back.

2002 dodge 2500 has problems with the diesel flow fuel problem.since 48,500 miles the engine periodically loses power and drops to 1500 rpm's.this failure mostly occurs with a load on board and when in traffic.the engine regains full power within 2-5 miles.a computer scan at a local repair facility indicated a possible problem in the injector timing circuit or in the pump system.

Consumer states that the crankcase oil fumes enter the cab at idle or slow speed when the air conditioner is set on outside air settings, when the air conditioner is set on recirculated or cab air only, this condition does not happen.

At approximately 56,000 miles i had a 216 vehicle engine code come up. This showed a failure in the injection pump. I have approximately 79,000 miles on the vehicle and the code has once again come up. I went to the dealer and they see "everything" is ok and can't figure out why the light is coming on. The vehicle is now beginning to suge during driving, a sign of not enough fuel being delivered to the engine. In speaking with multiple diesel mechanics in the area this is a problem cummins has with the isb engine.

Dt: 2002 dodge ram 2500 hd quad cab 4 wheel drive slt. The truck has been in the repair shop at least 15 times for not having any power.this happenedmainly whentowing a trailer.prior to purchasing the truck the dealer replaced the fuel injection pump and fuel pump.theyhave been replaced 3 timeslast year.the dealer said that transmission was not programmed for the size tires that were on the vehicle.also,turbo- chargerwas bad, and they replaced it, but, it did not work.took back vehicle o dealer, and they replaced all parts again.the last time that consumertookvehicle to dealer, the dealer stated there was nothing else to be done.this vehicle has a 5.9 liter ho cummings engine, turbo diesel, manual transmission.the truck has no power whenpulling a trailer.

Canister purge hoses and vapor harness hoses have cracked and dry rotted.there is an emissions recall listed on your web site for this problem but the dealer is saying there is no recall listed thru daimler chrysler for my specific vehicle.

Have had nothing but trouble with my 02 ram 2500 truck. Rear brake pads had nothing but rust holding the pads in place, had the turbo and fuel pump replaced, u-joints and yoke on 4wd shaft worn out and hanger bearing on rear drive shaft worn out at about 70,000mi, tail gate cable broke after only two years, when clicking from high beam to low beam occasionally all lights go out, cannot use heated mirrors because they will blow a fuse and i won't have any heat, and now all ball joints and tie rod ends are worn and need replaced. I bought this truck new with only 75 miles on it, when i had the fuel pump and turbo replaced at around 78,000 miles, my mileage increased from about 350 miles per tank to about 550 miles per tank of fuel. Highway driving is much higher mpg. Fuel gage no longer works, empty at half tank of fuel now. Was quarter tank and empty. I'm sure the transmission will be next, i've been putting special fluid additive in that, this seems to help with smoothness of shifting and power. Never ever will i waste my money on a vehicle made by the "big three" again. There is a good reason why toyota is taking over the market.

I own a 2002 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel pickup. This is the previous body style that ran from 1994 to 2002 in the 2500 and 3500 trucks. When i switch from high beams to low beams, the lights shut off completely. It is extremely dangerous to have your lights go out at highway speeds with oncoming traffic. I have heard of many other complaints from owners of these trucks. Why is there no recall on this safety issue?

The contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that the fuel return line from the injector pump was cracked at the fitting location. As a result, fuel was leaking from the vehicle and it would not start. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed. The contact repaired the vehicle himself. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 271,500.updated 09/27/11updated 09/30/11

On 1998.5 - 2002 dodge ram pick up with the 5.9 cummins diesel there is a real problem with vp-44 injection pump failures. Several vp re builders lay the problem to heat failure & vibration due to solder joints crystallizing. These pumps are not cheap & the problem was so bad that fed x forced bosch the manufacture of these pumps to do something about it. Not everyone has the money to replace one of these pumps. You never know when one of these pumps are going to fail. If you are on the highway or in an intersection & it would fail tat then becomes a traffic hazard. I had on go bad 9/17/2004 & now i have another going bad now. They cost around $2500.00 to $3000.00 to replace.

I recently experienced this while i driving with trailer in tow and had loss of power. Being followed by traffic i was unable to accelerate up the hill. I have also experienced problems when turning into traffic the loss of power and unable to accelerate has caused other drivers to perform drastic braking and maneuvering to avoid collisions. What happens is the engine does not respond to the fuel pedal input. I have checked the codes on the dodge ram 2500 equipped with the 5.9l cummins turbo diesel and have found a p0216 code indicating the bosch vp44 injection pump is not communicating with the ecm. There appears to be a defect in the vp44 computer talking with the ecm. This was not the first time the "dead pedal" issue occurred. This first started around 36000 miles after a long highway trip coming to a stop after which the engine stayed at idle and would not accelerate. Currently it has become more consistent. I have noticed that this occurs when the weather changes drastically or the engine has been worked and is hot. I am starting to believe that the computer mounted on the vp44 is losing connectivity due to the computers susceptibility to extreme temperatures. I have researched failures concerning the vp44 and have noted that on the cummins isb engine there have been many failures of this integral engine component. This engine is found in many other applications such as school buses, rv's, and light duty truck applications. After researching the multiple failures the majority of the fixes for this issue has been to replace the vp44 injection pump. I would encourage the nhtsa to investigate said issues and take appropriate action to remedy the faulty equipment on this engine. This is a significant safety concern which needs to be resolved due the engines applications in school buses, rv's and light duty trucks.-regardschad mckinney

My truck is a 2002 dodge ram 2500 has about 2 weeks at a dealer (weisner dodge) with both of the diesel pumps damaged.the truck is currently under the 36,000 mile warranty and the cost to fix it is approximately $4,000.the dealer is blaming the problem on the fuel.however, the fuel company (conoco) conducted an investigation and to them, the problem is not fuel based. Neither the local dealers want to acknowledge this situation, nor does conoco.i need a direct response from the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 2500.while driving between 50-55 mph, the vehicle loses power and decelerates.the dealer stated that the injection pump timing was failing, which affects the transfer pump.as a result, gasoline is not being pumped; therefore, the vehicle stops and continues to lose power.the current mileage was 78,071 and failure mileage was 75,000. Updated 06/17/08.*ljthe fuel injection pump and transfer pump was replaced. Updated 06/16/08

The contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 2500.while driving 68 mphthe vehicle stalled.he was able to slow down and drive onto the emergency lane. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the diesel injection pump was repaired under the warranty. The failure recurred and the dealer only paid half of the cost to replace the injection pump.the manufacturer was contacted on both incidents and they paid half of the2nd repair.the failure mileage was 61,000.the current mileage was 94,000.

(2) vp44 fuel injection pump failures, (1) fuel lift pump failure:at approximately 56,000 miles of service, the first vp44 fuel injection pump failed (documented chrysler p216 code was loaded into the pecm), again at approximately 78,000 miles, the vp44 fuel injection pump again failed, as did the diesel fuel lift pump.the vehicle was repaired by the dealer(s).this mechanical defect is consistent throughout the industry, and the cost of repairs at the chrysler dealership is more than $3,000.00 per incident for a total of more than $6,000.00 in accrued costs if i were to pay for this out of pocket.my concern is that when the warranty period is over, the reliability of the vehicle will be the same: another and then anther fuel injection pump will need to be replaced.note: incident dates below are approximate but can be authenticated and corrected if needed.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while attempting to park, he applied the brakes but the vehicle would not stop. A clicking noise was heard and the vehicle eventually stopped. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they noticed that the front suspension was damaged. The front suspension system was replaced by the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The failure mileage was 64,000.updated 08/15/11the consumer stated he had no power for approximately two to three miles.a diagnosis revealed the left front bearing hub and anti-lock speed sensor were bad and needed to be replaced. Also, the turbo charger was broken and the fuel injection pump was bad.updated 05/03/12

2002 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel lift pump failure after dealer installed in tank fuel module this is the 3rd injection pump since purchasing this vehicle, (incredible) over $1200.00 each failure chrysler did pay 800.00 toward repair of this vehicle. Why the government does not step up and force dodge to rectify these situations is beyond me, to busy chasing the toyotas of the world, in order for the government owned gm,dodge, to catch up in sales (absolutely amazing) but hey buy american huh.

Lift (transfer) pump failure. *nlm

Who decided that this stock lift pump was ok? who picked the replacement lift pump? dodge says cummins, cummins says dodge. Well this little $120 pos lift pump (both stock, and replacements) is known to kill the $1,000 injector pump. Why not just step up and put an air dog, fass or the like pump on the dang truck? it is a few hundred dollars more but no lift pump or injector pump will ever need to be replaced. I guess it looks like i just answered my own question. To make a product that has no known issues won't make money. If the lift pump goes out it weakens the injector pump. I take my dodge to the dodge house; they charge me to replace my lift pump. Later on my injector pump fails, they charge me to replace my injector pump. And the cycle continues till i get smart and put an aftermarket fass pump on and drive the truck 1,000,000 miles with no fuel delivery issues. Lift pumps are the number one failure in any street driven diesel truck. The chevy 6.5, duramax, ford international and dodge cummins all have week stock and stock replacement lift pumps that will fail. When they fail you hurt your injector pump causing it to fail. Before you put any miles on your diesel truck, replace the lift pump with a aftermarket replacement pump. Fass, or air dog it!!!

While accelerating the truck start the decelerate and reaccelerate multiple times within a 2-3 second time period and the check engine light came on for large evap leak. This issue happened a number of times throughout a couple week time period. When i brought it to the dealer they said there was debris in the tank that could have clogged the lines, flushed out the lines and continued on. The issue happened again a couple of weeks later and continued for weeks. I brought it back to the dealer they said the pump was bad and needs to be replace, replaced pump continue on. After about 8 months the issue came back and check engine light came back on for large evap leak. Had system check for leaks and found none. The issue still continue months later a random intervals.luckily the acceleration issue has been mostly when i was accelerating from low speeds and from stop lights. If i had this issue when trying get a cross a busy intersecting i could be killer.

Found fuel line lock clip rotted and half was gone. This clip locks the font and rear fuel lines together at the o ring sealed disconnect. (from the engine fuel rail half to the tank half of the fuel line).note:2003 dodge's use a stainless clip. The one on this 2002 couldn't have been made out of stainless. This 2002 pick up has only 7,000 miles on it.this failure could have started a gasoline fire.ordered a new clip from dodge dealer.don't have much of the old part but can try to get some pictures and salvage what's left.

Updated 1/5/09 the consumer also stated when backing up his trailer there was a burning smell coming from the clutch area. A transmission shop examined the clutch and pressure plated and discovered the clutch was worn and the pressure plate had heat marks from clutch slippage.the mechanic also stated the pressure plate appeared much older than the clutch itself because of the large strands of fiber stuck in the cover that appeared to be from the previous clutch that came apart. The engine light had illuminated. It was determined that the fuel injection pump needed to be replaced.updated 1/09/09.

He had left the driver's side door open while pumping fuel into the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted in reference to recall# 06e024000(engine and engine cooling). Since his vin number was excluded from the recall, he was ineligible for a free remedy. The failure and current mileages were 78,124.

Truck has 52000 miles, 5.9l gas engine, 4 speed auto tranny, and has been babied, never been off-road or pulled a trailer.on 8/17/2007 i made a couple of short trips and when got home i went to back into driveway and reverse gear did not engage.it worked fine earlier that day, then nothing.put my obd-ii scanner on it and no code, checked linkage and it is in proper working order.

My dodge 2500 quad cab truck with cummins engine has suffered it second transmission failure in 14 months.it is still under warranty, and the dealerhip will fix, however this level of failure is extreeme for a new vehicle.the current failure feels like the auto transmission lock up will not dis-engage when comming to a stop.extreeme brake pressure is required to keep truck from bolting at stop lights.my truck is stock.i believe the tranmission must have a serious defect.i am worried that the warranty will soon expire, and i will be faced with huge repair bills on this basically new truck.

Drove in driveway put in park, went inside to get something quick came out and crash.. We feel that the rear -end problem that we are experiencing is a factory defect, and would like to be reimbursed for the expenses incurred for repair of the truck. In october 2007, we reported that we were having problems to tempe dodge. We said that we had a leak of some kind and that the rear end was having a foul odor.they kept the truckin the shop at the dodge dealership to make repairs. We got the truck back and less than 2 days later, the axle twisted off of the truckwhile we were driving down highway 8 going to texas!we had to be towed back to tempe dodge. They fixed the truck again.now, here it is only a few months later, may 30, 2008 and we are experiencing problems again and the truck is back in the tempe dodge shop for another problem with the rear-end. This time it is growling like we have a tiger under the vehicle.we spoke to several people with the same model and yeartrucks and they have also experienced the same problems. One lady across the street from us said that her axle broke off too.so, we need your advice and help!why haven't you recalled the 2002 dodge 2500 diesel if it is having so much trouble with the rear-end, and why should i have to pay the bill if the problems are because it wasn't made correctly? we are now waiting to hear from tempe dodge about our truck, but we are now retired and will not have the money again to pay another$ 4,100 more dollars to fix the same problem.can you please advise us as to what to do?i feel it is a manufacturer problem and that dodge should pay for the work done on the truck, plus we should be reimbursed the $ 4,100, already spent when the problem was never really fixed! fortunately for us no one was hurt when the axle broke.i felt the truck engine stop working, and my wife said, "stop the truck immediately, something is wrong. "we immediately stopped, got out of the truck and the wheel was hanging on by a thread of metal.we thanked the lord for saving our lives.

Previously reported on 10/22/02, odi# 768732, and again to webmaster on 10/25/02. Vehicle has been taken to dealership where purchased for repairs to no avail. This is the 4th time that it has been in the shop for the same metal to metal "clanking" noise in the front left and right side of the wheel area. The noise only occurs when the vehicle has been in reverse and the brakes are applied and then forward and the brakes are applied. After continueing in a forward motion it does not make the noise when brakes are applied. This 4th time that it was in the shop, the brake calipers were replaced and it is as if nothing had been done as the noise is still present. With this being a metal clanking noise, i feel that it could be a serious safety problem if something actually breaks. I am now to continue driving the vehicle until an other appointment can be made to bring the truck back to the dealership for more "guess work". And when they have a loaner vehicle. I have owned the truck for a little over a month and it has been in the repair shop for about two weeks and the problem can not seem to be fixed.dt

During a routine stop at red light on 55 mph road the metal brake line ruptured where it is routed along the frame between the gas tank and frame. Rusted through, no way to inspect. Dealer reported this was a common failure on dodge pick-ups. During this stop the pedal went to the floor, able to pump and get a little front brake, and the abs and brake lights came on in the dash assembly. I crimped the line added brake fluid and limped to local dealer for replacement. Dealer knows about problem so dodgehas to know and should change material or routing of brake line. The vacuum pump on my 2002 dodge ram 2500 4x4 ho cummins diesel truck is defective and i just found out that it controls the brakes also. I was informed that this was the secound one in three - four weeks.

I purchased a 2003 dodge ram 2500 5.7 v8 4wd. My steering has gotten really loose over the last week. I brought it in to dealership for a previous recall. And the technician told me that my steering gear was going out and that it should not be bad.

The steering in the 2nd generation rams is subpar.they road walk, and get so far out of alignment they can not be properly aligned.this is shown as dodge went from one steering design (a better one) to another in 2000 year trucks.in 2003 they tried to improve on the system but it was not any good.now they are putting on the 2009/10 steering components on the 2003-2008 trucks leaving the 2000-2002 trucks to suffer from a highly dangerous and unreliable steering setup.the trucks road walk all over the road, the steering constantly shifts and the steering wheel is never truly in the correct position.dodge needs to come up with a redesigned steering replacement for these trucks and stop leaving it up to the owner to fix their mistake!

Death wobble. Experience when hitting small/minor bumps in the road or railroad tracks. Violent shaking causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and almost impossible to keep your foot on the brake pedal to try to come to a stop. Shaking is so violent that the driver is bounced around in the seat, momentarily airborne and itesm in the truck fly around. Lawsuit was issused on 2004 and newer models but affects older models as well. We now have paid $900 in parts to fix the "death wobble" that had we known was an issue, would not have purchased the truck. Completely unsafe to drive when it is our daily driver and we cannot afford to park it and purchase another vehicle to replace it with. Cannot sell in currenty condition having a "death wobble". No guarantee that the purchased parts will fix the problem.

I am hearing a popping sound when turning the steering wheel, play in steering, truck is wobblingall over the place when driving on uneven roads, hissing sound coming from front end when accelerating. Play in steering gear box.the clicking popping sound i hear when turning steering wheel is when driving or not moving. I have had this truck pull far right on the road when going on uneven roads.

The steering has been worked on since the first 150 miles of being new. Vehicle has approximately 14,000 miles to date.

There has been no failure yet that i know of but i own a 2002 dodge 2500 with the cummins turbo diesel engine.this truck was built with only two (2) grease fittings in the steering gear.this is an insufficent number and will cause premature failure of the ball joints and tie rods.*la

Steering became very loose and was allowed to go till there was a1/2 inch travel of the steering wheel from side to side. Upon inspection and removal of the intermediate shaft it was discovered to have the lower universal joint in complete failure do to corrosion and complete loss of the bearing. The vehicle is out of warranty but dodge was asked to review the case. I was offered a free oil change and was told because the truck was out of warranty they would;d not offer any assistance. This ia safety issue and should be addressed. Looking online there are numerous complains of the this part having to be changed out many times in the course of the trucks life. Typically any where from 4500 miles and up!

At first we notice cracks in the dashboard.they then got bigger andwider. .we are now at a point where the whole dashboard has caved in leaving huge holes and broken plastic.a definite defect. Dodge refuses to do anything about this.i have gone online and there are at least 100 complaints regarding this situation.and probably more. That have not been reported.this is not cosmetic.this is dangerous as it affects electrical and air bag operation.a recall should be issued by dodge and the defective dashboards should be replaced.we are senior citizens and should not have to be faced with this dangerousdefect.

The dashboard on my 2002 dodge ram pickup has started to crack with no apparent reason. The cracks are growing and there are more populated.

Dashboard cracked in several places on 2002 dodge ram 2500.

Dashboard cover began falling apart for no apparent reason.the deterioration first appears as cracking that later opens up gaps in the dash.numerous sharp edges are created on the dash.it is unknown whether or not the deterioration affects the airbags.dashboard deterioration started last summer while the truck was parked.i park outside, so the inside of the truck is exposed to normal arkansas summer temperatures, but every other vehicle i've owned has been exposed to similar conditions without this ever happening before.

My 2002 dodge ram 2500 pickup dash board is disintegrating. It has been well taken care of and i have not used any solvents or products on it for cleaning other than soap and water. Dash board is crumbling exposing numerous controls, gauges, wiring, and airbag components which is a huge safety concern. The a/c has seized to work anymore due to electrical problems which is spreading to other control gauges and components. The safety of the airbag system is now a concern.

Georgethe consumer provided a repair invoice. Updated 09/05/07

Flying sharp objects. From dodge cracking dash. This problem is not caused by sunlight since my truck is parked under cover and is not available to the sun. The sharp shards of plastic break and crack off and make for a very bad place to impact the human body if a safety restraint were to malfunction or fail completely. The flying debris also poses a risk during an impact or collision.

Very badly cracked dash on my 2002 dodge ram truck. Also-- extreme oxidation on the hood and roofs paint.

I was maneuvering in a parking lot backing up and bumped into a lift gate on a truck then part of dash top came off and fell into lap ,later complete dash bezel fell off while going down road i had to grab before it got tangled up in steering wheel ,now there are cracks all in dash and glove box dash seems like its going fall apart i tried to get dealership that i purchased from to repair but they wouldn't do anything and have since closed this is a very dangerous situation i paid 40k for a truck that is falling apart dodge/chrysler should fix this and make it right very good truck otherwise.

I noticed a crack in my dash (about 2") and the felt weak and spongy. After a couple of month i notice the crack grown across the dash (about 24") and felt really week. After 5 months from the initial crack the whole dash has fell apart into large chunks and now there is no dash left exposing all the components under it. I regularly cleaned and treated the dash with dash protective products but did not prevent condition.

Cracked dashboard dodge 2500 pick up lights don't always work.

I have a 1997 dodge ram pu with the dashboard falling apart thought it was just normal wear and tear until i inherited my father's 2002 dodge ram diesel pu. I noticed a couple of years ago his truck's dashboard was cracking but did not realize the extent until i received the truck last year. The dashboard on both my trucks are in terrible condition with gaping holes in each. Both have exposed wiring that you can see from just looking at them.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 2500.the contact stated that the clutch locked up and the vehicle was inoperable.while driving 55 mph, it seems as if the clutch releases and the rpms increase before the vehicle begins to drive normally.the contact took the vehicle to a dealer approximately twelve times, but they can never duplicate the failure.the clutch has been replaced twice.the failure occurs intermittently.the current mileage was 35,000 and failure mileage was 500.updated 01/24/08 the dealer stated wiring plug fuse blown, alarm will go off with key in ignition or not, pdc cover broken, difficult to start in cold weather, noticed a burning smell, and fuel injection.updated 01/24/08

The entire dashboard is cracking and disintegrating. Obviously due to substandard material and/or workmanship. This is leaving pieces of plastic with very sharp jagged edges and points covering the top of the dashboard. This is a very dangerous condition as these sharp edges can cut or blind someone in even a minor accident.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 2500.the contact stated that the dashboard was cracking, breaking, and falling apart.he noticed chunks of the dashboard falling to the floor.the dealer stated that there was no recall and provided the contact with a repair estimate.he was advised to call the dodge manufacturer.the failure mileage was 137,000.

No "event" led to failure. Issue is a potential safety issue that has been documented in an investigative report on www.local6.com out of orlando. My 2002 dodge ram 2500 quad cab has a defective dashboard that has begin to collapse. The report referenced documents identical issues leading to everything from electrical shorts and loss of lights during night driving to loss of vehicle operation. Problem is apparently widespread, specific to dodge and expanding. Most vehicles are older than mine but cracks appear to be starting in the same place and all proceed to collapse. Scott cooper was the investigative reporter for channel 6 news.

Dash board cracking right down the middle from front to back.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated the vehicle was parked when he began to perform maintenance on the radio. I have a 2002 dodge ram 2500 and the dashboard had completely cracked and peced away. There are sharp plstic pieces i find everywhere. They slide under the pedals and cause a distraction. Im constantly gathering peices large and small from my dash falling through while i drive. The glare it makes on the windshield also is a destraction. I find myself looking at this monstrosity and not on the road. This needs to be fixed and most certainly should be a recall. Why would i buy another one when its just going to cause the same problem and upset me.

The dash has several cracks in it.

Dash started to crack.now i have a large hole in the dash, several cracks and a small hole in the dash.i also have holes and cracks in the bezel.it is a shame dodge is not replacing the dash.i have a 74 camaro and the dash is not cracked, have a few 95 chevys, a 95 buick, 99 chevy in my family and none of them have the issues with the dash.this is a issue with just about every dodge ram owner of the same year!

I bought my dodge ram 2500 4x4 year of mfr.2002 with 32000 miles.i have owned this truck for just about a year i now have 47000 miles.what i have noticed is the lower inside edge of my doors are showing sighns of rust,to the point that rust pits are showing through the outside finish.my manaul says body is warranted for five years or 100,000 miles.i need advice on how to handle this when i call the local delarships they ask if i am the original owner and if i bought from them.i have gottentwo estimates #1 for $750.00 #2 for $1492.00

Dodge ram "death wobble" or shimmy phenomenon, while in motion and encountering highway road surface changes.

I purchased a 2003 dodge ram 2500 5.7 v8 4wd. My steering has gotten really loose over the last week. I brought it in to dealership for a previous recall. And the technician told me that my steering gear was going out and that it should not be bad.

Upon purchasing vehicle and after accumulating 500 additional miles steering would make a tremendous grinding noise. Problem has progressed to turning either direction with same noise problem with additional popping.dealership replaced steering column and shaft with no change in condition.

Truck wonders all over the road, bump steer.

Since new my dodge 2500 4x4 diesel p/u has worn the outside of the front tires. With only 23000 miles i have just purchased new tires. The mechanic at the tire store was kind enough to inform me this is a well known defect with dodge trucks, and there is a fix. This would cost me between $250.- $350. Depending on labor. I do not believe the consumer should have to pay for this inherent problem because of manufacturer oversight and potential accidents.

An excess of 50 thousands of play in the upper and lower ball joints of my 2002 dodge 2500 4x4 quad cab diesel has been detected by two independent service shops.the dealer, southtown dodge, refuses to replace the ball joints under warranty, citing only 20 and 24 thousandths play with 30 thousandths allowable.over the last 5000 to 6000 miles, the ball joint wear has caused the steer tires to wear rapidly and erraticly steers itself when in motion.the dealer offered to replace the ball joints for "around $800" if i am "so concerned.

A 20002 dodge truck with 48000 needed upper ball joints, this was discovered while driving down the highway when the passenger side right front wheel nearly came off.the consumer first thought it was a was loose lug nut but upon inspection the nuts were tight, but the ball joint was worn and loose.this was the first incident.

This truck has a violent vibration bouncing osilaltion on the freeway. Other truck don't do this. The dealer says no problem with it and they wont do anything. I complained after 1 mile of ownership. The truck is not safe. No statement was given to me that i was getting a truck that can't be used to drive at normal freeway speeds. Adding 500lbs in the bed does nothing to help.then i was told i need a camper added so i got one. It's a $2,200 mistake. Now i am told to try some rubber spring shackles called velvet rides. They seem to make it better except now when applying the brakes the whole truck unloads and the rear lifts up and looses rear traction too easy. Im taking them off im not the only one with this problem with front and rear end problem.

The dashboard has literally broken into pieces and shards 3 years after we purchased the truck.it is a very dangerous situation as we have great concerns for the safety of those driving and/or riding in the vehicle.the shards are very sharp and could either puncture the airbag or cause harm to an individual in the event of an accident.there are many vehicles within a period of years made by this manufacturer that have all had this similar issue.it is obviously due to a defect in the plastic used in the dashboards and the manufacturer has not offered a recall for this real safety issue.would they settle for this with themselves or their loved ones in a vehicle with this issue.the dashboard is literally disintegrating.

Truck garage kept for 10 of its 14 years.current mileage 2017 = 90,000.aug 2014 dash board began to crack and fall apart - truck had only 79,950 miles!plastic pieces fall into dash holes and get stuck under dash amongst steering wheel, electrical wires/controls, etc.plastic pieces can fall at any time whether in motion or stationary.

I have a 2002 dodge pickup that the dash is cracked. A piece of it has fallen into the dash. I'm concerned that it will collapse and cut into the wires in my dash.

The dash has cracked into several pieces that are now a hazzard of flying shards in case of an accident. Also there are holes int the dash where the pieces have broken out that can allow debris to fall inside the dash that can cause fires or electrical shorts.

Dashboard has started cracking and sharp pieces of plastic have become loose creating a potential for them to become projectiles in the event of an accident. Seems most of the plastic trim pieces are brittle inside the vehicles passenger cabin.

My 2002 dodge ram dash is falling apart.it is a two part dash, with both parts cracked apart and getting worse.now a piece is inside the dash system over the steering wheel.this seems to be a well known problem as when i went to the local dodge dealership and showed the issue to the parts representative, he indicated that he knew all about this issue. Replacement parts are close to $400 for each part, or almost $800 for both defective dash parts, not counting the labor for removing the dash to remove the bad parts and install new ones. I am concerned about dash pieces falling inside the dash and causing electrical problems that may affect a safe drive.

Dash cracking severely. If airbag deploys plastic shards will impale passenger and/or driver

The dash of my 2002 dodge ram 2500 has cracked and large pieces have broken and fallen inside exposing the wiring and could become a potential hazard in the event of an accident.

Dash started cracking in 2009 and pieces are falling off.the cracked dash and loose pieces are dangerous and could cause serious bodily harm if i was in an accident.there should have been a recall on this issue years ago.

Dash cracked in several places for no apparent reason.

2002 dodge ram 2500, dashboard cracking, collapsing.

The dash is cracking and disintegrating and the sharp shards of the plastic dash pieces are a safety hazard.

The dashboard is cracking badly and crumbling. Large holes are forming and broken pieces of plastic from the dash are falling into the dash area. The dealer won't do anything about it.

While traveling on i-5 in portland, oregon, i lost control of the accelerator pedal, it when into a "dead pedal mode".i was on a very busy section of this interstate and had to immediately find a local off the side of the road next to an on ramp.it was a very dangerous situation.it was an electronic problem.

Cruise control was on and used accelerator petal to accelerate, engine rpm went to max and speed increased 20 mph and continued.tapped accerator and turned of speed control, speed continued.put gear in neutral and worked my way to road side.found that cable frayed and jammed at high rpm. Disconnected cable and have not found replacement cable yet. Part discontinued

Driving down the road wont accelate then loose power , then afew a few minutes drives great then never know when it will not accelate drange losing power like that

I have both rims with cracks.i currently have two steel rims on and two aluminum.i am uncertain about leaving the two aluminum rims on as i am not sure if they will also fail.

Dt: contact stated while drivingon a dirt road at approximately 15 mph the rear passenger's side tire blew out. He took the vehicle to a tire shop to have the other tires checked. The mechanic at the shop told him the reason thetire had blown out was becausethe rims cracked.
