Subject vehicle hit black ice and spun out of control into a light pole striking the left front of the vehicle. Serious injuries, do to airbag failure to deploy.
I was in an accident in a 1999 dodge ram 2500. The truck was shady to begin with. We hit a tree head on at about 40 m.p.h. And the airbags didn't deploy. I was injured and had to be rushed to the hospital. When we bought the truck the dealer told us that it had never been in an accident but several mechanics told me that the truck showed many signs of a previous serious crash. If the airbags had worked properly i don't think that my injuries would be as serious.
Dash falling apart in cluding air bag air bag s/w vents falling out the bezel falling the glove conpartment falling wires cut had to be repaired radio fell out of dash got a dash board cover and have to tape the conponits togeather need to replace heater core no shop will do it because of the dash i have cut my hands and arms do to digging pieces of dash out this is a safety issue nhtsa need to do something about this i can't afford to buy another trucki guess when the dash falls in the floor and cause it to wreck.
This is my second complaint regarding dash board. The dash started cracking with just 30,000 miles on truck, when i put in compliant to nhtsa. Now 109,000 the electrical, air bags, computer harness wiring are exposed with a intermittent stalling and a guessing game from authorized dodge dealers as to what might be the issues."undetermined electrical shorts from cracked dash a possibility""abs service light stays on, also "undetermined by dealer", "can't track code" "don't drive as airbag might deploy because dash has dash debris from cracks" plus hearing "refuse to service unless replace the dashboard" all these quotes when trying to take to get the truck fixed. Main computer harness intermittent "no bus" can't find shorts! stalls out on freeway. The glove box even hangs on only one side. Unsafe if airbags deploy. Splintering of remains chards of faulty dashboard plastic, stall on fast lane of 14 freeway in ca had to coast to right side with no power steering lucky the brakes worked and the traffic was light.short in wire due to exposed dash board.
I had a leaky heater core that needed to be replaced which required me to remove the dashboard.i noticed some hairline fractures in the dash before i removed it, however it looked very much in tact so i didn't think much of it.after removing the dash from its mounted position however it began breaking apart and throwing shards of sharp broken plastic to the floorboard and seats.it virtually began to disintegrate before my very eyes and i could not help but imagine what it would be like to be in an accident and have all of those plastic shards being propelled into my body and face.i am terrified when i think of my safety and the safety of my family.the plastic is obviously defective.is dodge aware of this, orvam i the only one?what a nightmare.
For no apparent reason the air bag light came on. It seems to be the clock spring mechanism. The current recall for this problem does not include my vehicle, where i believe it should.
While driving at 50 mph, vehicle was in a frontal collision , and none of the airbag deployed upon impact.this resulted in serious injuries to the driver.
My 17 year old son had an accident in a 1999 dodge 2500 ram truck and the airbags did not deploy.he hit several trees and the insurance company has considered the truck "neftr".we contacted dodge concerning this, they told us they would send a representative to inspect the truck and tell us why the airbags did not deploy.his seat belt also did not work properly.we have spoken with dodge again and they have no intention of sending anyone to look at our truck.we are wondering if there have been other such incidents concerning airbags in dodges larger trucks.we also would like to complain about the level of unconcern of the people working at dodge.
1999 dodge ram 2500 pick-up. In 2004 i noticed some cracks in the dash board, within the next 12 months it was so bad that pieces of the dash began to fall inside the instrument panel.the air bag on the passenger side is partially exposed which is my primary concern. My wife also received a cut on her hand trying to remove a piece of the dash from inside the instrument panel.
Air bag light illuminates when turning the steering wheel or shifting gears.the clock spring assembly must be replaced, but the dealer will not do the repairs under the recall 01v153000.
While traveling 15-20 mphand as a result of an accident air bags did not deploy at any time, causing injury to passenger.because of the accident, the hood, bumper, front fender, radiator, fanthe heavy duty frame were damaged and had to be replaced.
While driving at 35 mphsteering went out, causingconsumer to run into a tree.also, when applyingthe brakes, they were hard and didn't stop the vehicle. In addition, engine sopped/ no deployment of driver's air bag upon impact.
I own a 1999 dodge ram.as i understand, you have received tens of thousands of complaints regarding the dash plastic failure.as i read the posts, i see that an overwhelming majority of thesevehicles (dodge ram) all have the same problem.the entire plastic dash splinters into shards, regardless of time or care and upkeep.so has mine.i would like to emphatically add my name to the growing list of disgusted owners.i am more than concerned about the shards of plastic around the airbag.what will happen to my passenger(s) if the air bag deploys?i work as a firefighter, and have seen first-hand the results of the violent air bag deployment.i can't imagine the extent of the additional injuries if sharp pieces of plastic are added to the blast of the airbag.this is not merely an issue of aesthetics or poor craftsmanship.it is a monumentalsafety issue.please help.sent respectfully
Consumer rearendedanother vehicle with 35 mph impact, and dual airbags did not deploy, causing driver to hit steering wheel, driver sustained chin injury and needed 24 stiches.no prior warning of inoperative airbags.
Consumer was traveling about 40mph and vehicle rear ended a pickup truck. Consumer's vehicle skidded44 feet, and airbags did not deploy.vehicle has rear wheel anti-lock brakes.a manufacturer's investigatedfoundairbags to be in working order.
Consumer was traveling 25mph when another vehicle hit consumer's vehicle. Vehicle was hit from the side & spun around, and then hit head-on.upon impact, airbags never deployed.vehiclewas badly damaged in the front.dealer examined vehicle & found nothing wrong.
While driving 50 mph on a two way rural roadway, a mini-van driving toward me made a left hand turn in front of me at 10-15 mph (failure to yield).i hit the above mini-van's front passenger corner head on with the front of my truck.after the impact with the mini-van, my truck hit an electric pole with front center of the vehicle where it came to a complete stop.the mini-van was thrown 25 paces in the opposite direction in which it was traveling.both air bags deployed in the mini-van and driver was not seriously injured.my seat belts saved me from being thrown from vehicle.my forehead hit the top of the steering wheel.both driver and passenger air bags did not deploy. I am still trying to overcome head injuries that resulted.patrol officer at accident suggested i contact manufacturer on failure of airbags.i did not feel concearned at the time due to feeling fortunate that injuries could have been more severe.after a week or so went by i still had head injuries resulting from steering wheel contact and continued medical attention.one week later, a similar dodge ram truck's airbags did not deploy in a similar accident.i contacted manufacturer and they inspected vehicle.their inspection resulted in determining the air bag should not have deployed in this instance.based on witness' observations of the accident, i'm am being told to pursue this issue.at this point in time, if my head injuries are cured, i'm not planning legal actions against manufacturer and/or driver at fault.since the accident, i have been informed of two recent similar cases involing dodge truck's air bags.i feel concearned about the reliability of thier air bag systems in future accidents of this nature.officer and witness accident reports and phisical markings left at accident scene reveal the impact point of vehicles and electric pole.

The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500.while driving approximately 30 mph in rainy weather conditions, the vehicle began to slide and the front wheels locked when the brake pedal was depressed.the failure occurred without warning; however, the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.numerous gauges would not work while the vehicle was in operation.the failure occurred intermittently.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the vehicle was operating properly.on a separate occasion, the vehicle was taken to another authorized dealer for a second opinion.the technician stated that the braking issue was a manufacturer defect, but there was no resolution.the vin was not accepted by the system.the failure mileage was 79,000 and current mileage was 81,000.updated 05/05/09.*lj

Software seem to go into default or hacked cal mode.with this decrease in performance is suddenly mileage decrease, power and shifting erratic suddenly.other symptoms not obvious either. Again everything seem fine after last software boot but after 100 miles or so returning home from out of town dealership, truck running loosely after over night sit.
My dash on my 1999 dodge ram 2500 has completely fell through causing wiring problems my lights will just stop working.

1999 dodge 2500 ram dash cracking causing wiringproblems.
While driving at any speed and with no warning vehicle will start to accelerate. It will be hard for vehicle to decelerate. Dealer notified.consumer stated that the vehicle does not come with a throttle linkage, but it comes with a computer and sensor switches which operate the throttle. When the sensor switches failed the engine failed too.
The dashboard has disintegrated causing exposure too wiring, intermittent diagnosed and undiagnosed problematic wiring issues with intermittent 'no bus' causing loss of power on freeway.dealer unable or unwilling to further diagnose issue unless entire dashboard plastic is replaced unfortunately it is the same plastic that numerous people according to dealer and according to several internet searches that the dashboard plastic was not manufactured properly causing physical, emotional and financial harm to tens of thousands of dodge /chrysler owners.when my truck lost all power i was driving in fast lane of fwy. All power was gone including brakes and steering.had to use muscle power to steer and let vehicle slow enough to use force to brake.multiple people have informed the nhtsa in regards to the dashboard. The nhtsa would only investigate if i had died.

While driving the abs light, check engine light comes on along with the speedometer and tack quit working, by tapping the brake pedal the lights go off and everything starts working again.
The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500.six years ago, the contact noticed small cracks in the instrument control panel cluster.in march of 2008, the cracks manifested into large, triangular, sharp, plastic chunks that are falling inward into the vehicle.he notified the manufacturer, but they did not provide any assistance.the vehicle has not been repaired.the purchase date, transmission type, powertrain, fuel system, and fuel type were unknown.the failure mileage was 33,000 and current mileage was 100,000.

Wrecked prior to sale to me. Never reported to me. Numerous service bullitons on this equipment, not reported to the owner. No safety defect listed.
Dt: the consumer states that the wiring harness is stretched to tightly and the wires do not have enough slack.the wiring connectionsfailed. This has been a problem since last year.owner has been fixing the problem himself. The owner has contacted dodge, and they said that they were not fixing the problem. There has been no recalls on the truck. There were multiple hot wires and they could cause ashort. The owner has never taken his vehicle to the dealership for this problem. The owner usually fixed the problem himself. The owner has a company vehicle . Also, owner thinks that dodge did not build the part rightly.

Truck has a 53 block which has cracked below the #5 cylinder freeze plug at 74,000 miles.first noticed overheating with loss of coolant that didn't go on the ground, then found 53 on block and found crack.dodge will not even acknowledge the problem of the 53 block exists, and have been somewhat rude in their denials and lack of info.cummins will at least acknowledge the problem, but has offered no solutions for a problem caused by poor block design.estimates to fix are about $9,000. Which i can't afford.this problem should be covered under a dodge extended warranty, however dodge refuses to accept any responsibility.this issue can cause the truck to overheat, which could leave driver and passenger(s) stranded or even cause a fire.
Contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted but the failure recurred on several occasion. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.

The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500. While driving approximately 60 mph the contact heard a flapping sound underneath the hood. The contact stopped the vehicle and noticed there was a part missing from the engine. The contact found the harmonic balancer that was attached to the crank shaft position sensor in the engine. The vehicle was towed to the contacts home. The dealer was informed of the failure. The dealer stated the part was unavailable and would be ordered. The contact stated approximately four months had passed since the part was ordered and was not received. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
- the contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500.the contact stated that he first had the brakes replaced at 36,000 miles. Periodically when applying the brakes the front wheels locked, and felt a very hard pulsating in the brake pedal.the contact stated that at 42,000 miles he replaced all four tires at the dealers prodding that the problem was with the tires.at 44,000 miles he replaced the electronic module after being told that this was the problem.the contact stated that after taking the car in approximately 5 times the same problem with the brakesrecurred and never did work properly.the contact stated that weather was not a factor, and that he was driving at30 mph the times that he experienced problems with the brakes. The consumer stated the vehicle pulled to the left, there was a buzzing sound coming from the radio, the lower intake gasket was replaced. The ac blew warm air.updated 04/05/07.
I own a 1999 dodge/cummins diesel 2500 truck with a #53 cummins engine block.this engine block has developed a crack and is leaking coolant.this engine block has a known defect from the manufacturing process.in research, it was found from sources such as the turbo diesel register.com and a national repair company - locknstitch.com - that 1000s (thousands) of these blocks have cracked in the same place necessitating repairs costing owners millions of dollars thus far.the cost to me alone to repair this block will be $3000.00 with no guarantee it will not crack again!i know there have been many complaints filed here.why has there been nothing done about this obvious and very costly defect???

I have a 1999 dodge ram 2500 4 x 4 quad cab with the v-10 manual transmission.since i purchased it new in march 1999, i have twice replaced the rr track bar ($200 part, not including labor) and the steering intermediate shaft ($89 part, not including labor).this truck wanders all over the road and a heavy clunk is felt in the steering wheel.the dealer mechanics keep telling me "that's typical of this vehicle," but there is no recall.why? i have also noticed an abundance of coolant loss at each oil change since about 10,000 miles...up to 1 gallon per 3000 miles.the radiator pressure checked ok.dealer mechanics and chat rooms have told me this is another "typical" problem with this truck.apparently the antifreeze blows through the headgasket and into the exhaust system where it evaporates.still no recalls.why are automanufacturers getting away with this?
While driving 65 mph the oil pressure dropped to zero and the engine seized without warning. The dealer states the oil intake was clogged, which caused low oil pressure in the engine. Please provide additional information. *tc
Dt: block #53 on the 1999dodge 2500 ram has a crack. First noticed last year, and crack is larger now and antifreeze pours out.
Engine #1(3884 miles)we had only had the truck for two months, had not even made the second payment.we were 75 miles from home pulling our 21 foot boat when the first incident occurred.it was only the second time we had used the truck to pull--which is why we bought the v10 . A piece of the block came off and locked up the oil pump.we were without our truck for three weeks while the dealership tore down the engine to determine the problem and wait for chrysler to decide the best remedy which was a brand new 1999 engine.chrysler wanted to ship a 2000 engine but it would not bolt up.our summer was ruined & we did not pull anything again until this year.engine #2(16,397 miles on truck but only 12,513 miles on this engine).on june 11, 2000, the second time to pull this year, we left on vacation pulling our 23 foot ultra lite pull behind camper.on monday, june 12, 2000, 250 miles from home, the engine started knocking.this time, it had thrown a rod.our vacation was ruined.the truck was down for two weeks and we were stranded, unable to take our rental car out of state.chrysler sent a rebuilt engine this time.engine #3(16,462 miles on the truck but only 65 miles on this engine).we picked up the truck june 23, 2000 after the service people put it through a 24 mile test drive.we drove 41 miles pulling our camper and as we started up a long 5% incline, it began to lose power.about 1/4 mile up the hill, with the gas pedal on the floor, it had dropped to 30 mph--no power--so we pulled off of the road & stopped.stranded once again, we called chrysler.after three hours, we were finally rescued.it was taken to a dealer and determined at the present time to have "internal problems".we are once again without our truck.it is not even one year old.
The vehicle stalled.*jg
While backing out of the driveway, the vehicle would intermittently stall.this stalling occurred six times.on one occasion, the dealer replaced the ignition coil, and on another occasion, the consumer kept hearing a pinging sound coming from the engine.the transmission wasreplaced, and the transfer case was still leaking.there had been a myriad of problems with this vehicle. Also, there had been several recalls associated with this vehicle.the consumer claimed that the vehicle was in the shop more than it was in herpossession.the vehicle experienced the following:airflow noise/sucked air due to a possible vacuum leak, the passenger mirror vibration due to the bug shields, engine ticking, undershield rusted along with the driveshaft, u-joints, and the bumper, there was rust on the rear box panels, engine ping/noise, the check engine light had come on two times, rear window leakage, transmission did not shift properly/transfer case leaked, hard jumping when in reverse, revvs out more rpm's than normal, engine ping had gotten louder, and there were many times when the engine died. *scc
All the brake components except the master cylinderwere replaced 7 times starting at 7,000 miles because they either locked up or didn't function at times.an accident occurred due tothis failure. Also, automatic transmissionwas replaced/rebuilt 8 times because itblew out, slipped, ordropped down from o/d to regular gear, which startedat 5,000/20,000 milesfinally, the engine head wasreplaced twice because it cracked onboth sides, which started at 77,000-90,000 miles.
Consumer states vehicle stalls without warning while driving.dealer can not fix problem.vehicle has been in for repair 7-8 times. Consumer stated the front rotors were warped and the rear drums were out of round, also the enging light stays illuminated, and the vehicle was leaking fuel, dealer replaced the o-rings.
I have a 1999 dodge 2500 with a 24 valve cummins motor. I started to notice coolant loss and found a crack on the passenger side of the block behind the heat exchanger. I have since found this to be a very common problem with 99 - 01 with a 53 casting . I went to dealer, only to find i was just out of warranty. I wrote to daimler/chrysler and to quote "we are starting to see several of these appear and have approached cummins about this problem, but at this point they are dragging their feet on restitution or resolution." i talked to cummins and they said per their original contract they sold engines with no implied warranty to dodge, as they said they wanted to handle all warranty issues. They both agree that their was a defect with that casting and have corrected it on other years. I am looking at a $5000 plus repair bill that is not a wear issue, but a defect.
My 1999 dodge ram 2500 slt turbo cummins diesel. Over $11,000.00 in maintenance in 5 years @ 122,000 miles.most recently fuel pump, turbo injected over a $3,000.00 bill.30 days ago it was $3,000.00 and several other issues.
Crack in blockleaking coolant yr.1999 dodge ram 2500 diesel.
I and many other owners of 1998 thru 2001 dodge cummins diesel vehicles have or will experience a known defect of the designated 53 block in these vehicles. The 53 block can develop a crack behind the heat exchanger on the passenger side which results in coolant loss and a replacement block. Mine cracked at 5 years 2 months and 53k miles. Standard warranty for these engines is 5 years 100k. I like many owners have had to pay anywhere from $2000.00 and up to have a known defect repaired as chrysler will not cover the known problem if over the 5year 100k limit. There are many unsuspecting people out there that may not know of this defect and many used vehicles on used vehicle lots that may be sold to people that are unaware of this problem. Cummins has given some assistance, chrysler has given none. Either way the consumer still pays for the defect of an engine that was touted to last at least 350k miles and in my case only 53k. I paid an additional $4600.00 for the diesel option and then paid an additional $2400.00 to have the defect repaired. Like their present balljoint problem nothing will happen with the 53 problem unless the media gets involved. If you could give me any other information on who to notify i would appreciate it as selling a 32k and higher vehicle and turning your back on a known defect does not sit well with many owners. Thank you.
I have a cummins diesel. It has a 53 block.there was been alot of reports of these blocks cracking. I paid over $5000 for this option. It costs over $7000 to get it fixed. I don't have a problem yet. Just feel like i'm driving a time bomb. Chrsyler refuses to help any of the poor guys with this cracked block. This is a serious isssue of a defective block. Please help all of us with the 53 block.
I have a 1999 cummins with the #53 block. The block is cracked and according to this my research, this is a common problem. I have always owned dodge vehicles but with all the hassle and money i have gone through trying to fix this, it is really making me reconsider buying a dodge product ever again. This is not a wear and tear issue this is a defect and cummins needs to address it properly. Buyer beware!
The engine surges periodically, sometimes when going down the road. I believe if the throttle jams wide open injury could occur and vehicle would be uncontrollable.diagnosed as a faulty throttle position sensor.contacted the dealer, not under warranty, cost to replace, $550.00.contacted chrysler, nothing can be done, except my paying for replacement.
Coolant loss, small amount at first. Inspectedhoses, thermostat, core plugs and radiator for coolant seepage possibilities, labored to no avail . Over a period of time, it wasbrought to my attention a small crack in the block andthrough researching i have this information. My block is cast in brazil by a company named "tuby" and is identified by a #53 numbered on the block. It has become apparentto me that these are defective due to weak casting that resulted in thinner water jacket walls than other blocks so with coolant cavitation, corrosion, coolant pressure in the block, and torque they are more prone to crack. Chrysler will not honor my warranty, it has been more than 5 years but the mileage was at 94,891. Cummins powermaster advised me to take it to a local dealer in tampa and i did. They did a coolant pressure check and verified the cracked block. Cummins powermaster has offered to replace the block but i would be responsible for labor and other related cost in the neighborhood of $4,500. Cummins admitted to me that there are problemsarising with these #53 blocks. I also have review other complaints on a question and answer diesel website and noted several complaints to the nhtsa. If the numbers are legitimate there are about 100,000 blocks affected. It would be of interest to know how many of these blocks were replaced by chrysler while under warranty and how many cummins have replaced without charge to the consumer. I think it to be a symbolic gesture from cummins to want to assist me in this matter. I was told that ifcummins had the warranty, my block withhole like that, even if it had 200,000 miles would be replaced absolutely free. Cummins does have a reputation to maintain sinceit is their 24 value cummins engine in the dodge ram. Chrysler wants to take no responsibility for the problem or even acknowledge the defect in manufacturing of this#53 block. Sb
(1)dealer oil change, subsequent leak.(2)informed oil plug was 'cracked' and oilpan was 'concave' and required relacement@$800+. Informed this was not uncommon.old plug not returned. (3) $20@kragen got me gasket material and ptex#2, leak fixed.
While driving at 35 mphsteering went out, causingconsumer to run into a tree.also, when applyingthe brakes, they were hard and didn't stop the vehicle. In addition, engine sopped/ no deployment of driver's air bag upon impact.
Vehicle is being modified/conversion, however during modification for handicap usage the floors are being lowered by 10 inches creating safety hazards in various component areas (driveshaft, fuel lines/pump and structure). Mjs
Air conditioner does not get cool on hot days.
Vehicle has less than 50000 miles.air conditioning system failed due to a faulty evaporator. Estimated repair cost $1100.00.several dealership mechanics advised owner that this is a common complaint with dodge vehicles and that the evaporator manufacturer has addressed the issue. What about all of us that have to pay for the defect? why did'nt dodge recall this if it is a common problem?

No summary listed for above vehicle.
Dt*: the contact stated the am/fm radio volume control would not work.also, when raining hard, there was a leak inside the truck that stemmed from the roof of the vehicle.third, the undercarriage was rusted.fourth, the hydraulic brakes were fractured.the contact heard a leak noise and when the brake pedal was depressed, it went to the floor.the vehicle was parked in an idle position and there were no prior warnings.the vehicle was towed to the service dealer, who determined the brake line was rusted, fractured and needed to be replaced.
The brakes locked up, which caused consumer to pump the brakes.the brakes would lock up when the weather was damp, when not in use for an extended period and when using four wheel drive all the wheels would lock up.this would only happen at temperatures of 32 degrees or colder.the manufacturer was notified and referred the consumer to the dealer for repairs.the transmission leaked at the rear output seal extension housing leaked at the case split silicone seal, the rear transmission seal leaked on the extended housing seal at the transfer case, the radio control had become inoperative, the wipers shorted out, and the fog light switch had gone bad.*scc

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 40 mph the headlights failed due to a wire in the steering column.additionally, the driver and passenger seatbelts failed.the dealership replaced the wiring in the steering column for the headlights, which remedied the problem.although the manufacturer was alerted about the seatbelts, no appointment has been made for repairs.
Headlights would intermittently go out while drivingand/or when changing from low to high beam. Dealer notified, and was unwilling to assist becausevehicle was not covered under a recall. Feel free to provide any further information.
Fuel filter assembly.fuel heater element wires deteriorated and fuel began to leak through seal around wires.i noticed the smell of fuel and upon investigating found the shorted wires evaporating/burning the fuel collected around them.the assembly was tooo hot to touch.after contacting dodge iwas told that the unit was discontinued and a new kit was available for replacement at a cost of approximately $1300.
Towing a 6000 lbs trailer up hill when fuel injection pump stalledcaused truck to stop.word is that its not a recall, but should be. Happens a to a lot of dodge trucks.luckily there was a shoulder to pull off to.lucky us we were not going down hill!!!
I bought this truck from used car dealer about a month ,i changed fuel filter did not stop leaking i call auto part they did not have it and i call dodge dealer they said dodge discontinue making it(fuel filter housing unit).
Driving n.w. On a 4 lane road, my truck suddenly had no acceleration, i pulled into the median. I found out my fuel transfer pump had failed, causing the fuel injector pump to also fail because of lack of fuel. I found out the hard way that there is an after market sensor that could have prevented the damage done to the fuel injector pump. Cost to consumer: $340.00 for afuel transfer pump and $1,590.62 for the fuel injector pump. Cost of the sensor $60.00. Shame on chrysler! my 1999 dodge ram 24 value diesel had 94,891 miles but the warranty was out in years.
Dodge ram lift pump failures failure of fuel system fuel oil transfer pump (lift pump) leads to immediate engine stalling. When towing (as which truck is designed for), upon engine shutdown at hwy speeds, immediate loss of power brake and steering performance. This leads to loss of control of trailer and/or load. Property damage and fatalities would be dependent upon drivers experience level while towing.mfg (damilerchysler) knows of the problem, in some cases will replace pump dependent upon detailed proof from vehicle owner. Not all dealers following company policy and is will actually flat refuse to address that a problem exists, even though the mfc has issued a tech service bulletin (tsb). *nlm
Fuel injector pump failed just before entering the freeway, was towing stock trailer when i lost all power.had to have the 1999 dodge 2500 diesel towed along with the stock trailer, the cost is $3150.00 for the fuel injector and $124.00 for towing. Isearched the internet and found numerous complaints on this same issue and not only on the 1999 model, so i called dodge to find out if there was a recall issued, the answer was no! i believe this is a safety issue especially when you loose all power, we were lucky that we had not entered the freeway yet we were still on the on-ramp and it was not safe with the 18-wheelers and other vehicles increasing their speed to enter the freeway. I believe the manufacture should be responsible for the cost not me.
The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500.while driving 60 mph, the engine lost all power.the power steering and brakes completely failed.the vehicle eventually stopped on its own without a crash.the vehicle was towed to the repair shop where it was discovered that the fuel pump and injection pump needed to be replaced.the current and failure mileages were 136,000.
On 6/30/06 we were driving our dodge 1999 ram 2500 diesel pickup, when it suddenly stopped running.my husband was able to force thepickup across traffic and to the side of the road.the pickup had to be towed to a dodge dealership.we now find out that dodge diesels have a problem with its fuel transfer pumps which cause the primary injection pump to failsuddenly and without any warning.thisplaces the occupants at risk since your vehicle has no power, no power steering and no power brakes.our vehicle is awaiting repair at the dealership, estimated at $3,000-$4,000.dodge recognizes that they have a problem with theirpumps, since they have a retrofit marketed and in stock at thedealership but they refuse to do a recall.although our vehicle has low mileage, our time of ownershipdisallows us from warranty work.dodge won't even speak tous. This is a problem that can put drivers at great jeopardy.butdodge will not address it other than at the owner's expense.
1999 dodge ram 2500 5.9 cummins diesel. Driving on the highway the throttle would not accelerate. The vehicle would slow on a hill and was unable to get out of the way or change lanes. So i stopped driving on the highway but now the same thing happens in town. I would press the throttle and have zero response. Kind of scary when you are entering a main road or turning at a traffic light. My mechanic tells me the injector pump is failing and that it is a common failure. $3,000.00 repair. I paid a premium for the diesel as it should last 1,000,000 miles or more. But at 150,000 to have this happen is absurd. If you would be good enough to search on-line you will find that thousands of others have the same problem. The culprit is a bosch vp44 injector pump that is being used around the globe for diesel applications. Cummins will replace the defective part on some buses and some other vehicles but tell me that i have to get dodge to do the repair. Dodge says there is no re-call and that i will have to pay almost $3,000.00 for a reconditioned pump not new! imagine slowing for a railway crossing then being unable to get out of the trains way. Or trying to accelerate and change lanes to get out of the path of emergency vehicles. You see a break in traffic as you attempt a turn between traffic the throttle does not respond. I am currently saving money for this repair but considering the prevalence of this danger i thought that surely dodge would have volunteered a safety recall by now. Not 1 or 2 vehicles but thousands and thousands. How many other drivers are there out there that must continue to operate their defective vehicle while they too save up for this costly fix. Thank you for looking into this matter.
Fuel injector pump stopped working and from all of informationi found it seemedto me it should have been a recall.we had a accident in 2005 from the stalling of the pump, and was told by the body shop it was the cause of the wreck. We have spentmoney on sensors trying to repair to finally be told that the vp-44 code was the fuel injector pump, and will need to be replace and that certain companies have made a special part to repair thisand could prevent this from happening. Why can't dodge repair? does it take someone to die just to get something repair right, which should have been done during the making of the product?
The vehicle has a fuel filter but it has no water separator. This caused water from fuel tank to get into the pickup pump, allfuel lines, injector pump and injectors.
While driving, vehicle completely stalled due to a fractured fuel line, which also caused fuel leakage. The cracked banjo fitting allows air to enter the fuel return line causing the morning start to be difficult. The fuel tank sender had been replaced three times. The fuel gauge also reads empty.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving 55mph, the fuel pump and lifter failed.as a result of the failure, the vehicle lost all power.the vehicle was pulled safely to the side of the road.it was towed to the residence of the contact and no repairs were made.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 65 mph the fuel pump failed without warning.this caused the vehicle to loose all power.the vehicle was coasted off the road without incident and then towed to an independent repair shop.although the fuel pump was replaced the mechanic was unable to determine what caused the failure.the manufacturer was alerted.
Fuel transfer pump failure in my 1999 dodge ram lead to a injector pump failure with in minutes. Poor engineering! $2600 or more for repairs for a truck that is well kept!
Transfer fuel pump was twice replacedunder 100,000 mile warranty. Currently, vehicle needed a thirdreplacement after 140,000 miles. Also, fifth gear was completely gone. This occurred at 140,000 mi.*mr
Vehicle stalled while driving. Consumer statedthat the fuel pump was corroded, and replaced it.the engine had shaken harshly when it stalled.the vehicle was difficult to steer the over to the shoulder.the consumer found a positive wire on the fuel transfer lift pump had corroded and broken off causing the engine to stall.the wires for the transfer lift pump had no protective cover and were exposed to the elements.chrysler redesigned the fuel pump. *sc
The vehicle stall while driving 55-60 mph. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed the failure as a failed fuel transfer pump. Please provide any further information.
I have a 1999 dodge truck with cummins diesel.i would like to report a incident that prompted a concern for myself and my family.as i was on vacation with my family, we were traveling to st. Louis for a weekend race.while traveling up a long hill, my truck began to loose power.this grade was a two lane highway, that was moderately curvy.fuel pressure was down significantly as indicated by my added gauge.upon arrival to our destination, i replaced the factory lift pump (fuel transfer pump) and immediately noticed a large difference in power.had the truck actually died during this incident, it would have been nearly impossible to restart, thus leaving a two lane highway blocked on a hill in curves.this caused major concern as it is a high traffic area and many tractor-trailers use this busy stretch of highway.the main cause of failure for these pumps is an incorrect application as described by the pump manufacturer.diamler-chrysler is aware of the problem, but has chosen not to address the concern.thank you for your time in this matter. *nlm
Failure of rubber gasoline fuel lines between the right and left fuel rail. There are no clamps and it is rubber line that sits under the air cleaner assembly which can rub against the line, causing it to seperate and expose gas.

I have a 199 dodge quad-cad 2500 cummins diesel 4x4truck.on 6-5-03 my truck die while i was driving it.at the dodge dealer they told me my fuel lift pump was bad (cost $255.00) they replaced it then called me 3 days later and said my fuel injection pump was bad (cost $1700.00).when the fuel lift pump goes out it causes the fuel injection pump to go out because it runs dry of fuel which causes it to go bad.so why don'tdodge cummins put a relay in there that shuts down the fuel system when the fuel lift pumps stops working.so instead of a $450 bill now i have $2400bill instead.
Vehicle stalled while driving. Consumer was unable to restart vehicle. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the injector fuel pump needed to be replaced. Consumer informed mechanic that this problem had occurred more than once, and had not been resolved.mechanicnotified theconsumer that two injector fuel pumps had been replaced on this vehicle, but for the third pumpconsumer has topay because warranty expired.
Vehicle is experiencing problems with the power steering, it locks up while driving and loses power steering while sitting still and without foot on brake, dealer has replaced the power steering pump twice, power steering gear box, installed a vacuum booster, and installed power steering lines, however vehicle still experiences problems. Fuel leveling unit was replaced and the sending unit was also replaced, dealer also replaced the instrument cluster due to a faulty fuel gauge.consumer felt pulsation in brakes, dealer found rear drums warped and rotors out of round.
I have a 1999 dodge ram 2500 with a 5.9l engine.it has 57000 miles on it.for the third time in 3 years it has developed an intake manifold leak.this causes it to lose power at highway speeds and consume oil.this problem occurred at 35000, 47000 and 57000 miles.chrysler paid for the first 2 repairs but will not pay for this one or any others that may occur. Many owners of these trucks with this motor have informed me that they have had similar problems yet everyone associated with chrysler continues to tell me that it is not a common problem.i'm looking for help in pressuring chrysler to take care of this common problem.thank you

1999 dodge cummins diesel had the lift pump fail and took out my injector pump because it starved it of diesel fuel do to the falure of the lift pump.i had a new lift pump installed and a rebuilt injector pump installed.i understand this is a very common problem wit the electric lift pumps i talked to several mechanics who said they see it happen all the time.very costly fix!

While traveling down a city street in heavy mid-day traffic, my 1999 dodge ram 2500 4x4 pick-up truck stopped running.i had no warning.one second the vehicle was running fine and the next second it was dead.since it is a cummins turbo diesel equipped truck, i lost power steering and power brake assist.luckily, i was able to wrestle the steering wheel and guide the truck into a mostly empty parking lot with the vehicle's momentum.i had to apply great force to the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a stop.my biggest concern is, if my wife had been driving instead of me, the loss of power steering and brake assist would have greatly enhanced the chance of a crash and/or personal injury.the problem which caused the engine to stop running turned out to be the inoperative bosch vp-44 injection pump.a re-manufactured pump is the only form of repair available for these vehicles.after much internet research, i have found that the vp-44 injection pump is notoriously unreliable and extremely failure-prone.i feel that daimler-chrysler should be held responsible for repairing these vehicles with a more reliable injection pump and/or refunding money spent by owners on repairing this issue.this is a very serious safety issue that the nhtsa should become involved in.

1) the vehicle was being used to tow a 16' flatbed trailer, with the purpose of picking up a load of hay. The trailer was not yet loaded at the time of the incident.2) the hood of the vehicle flew open while the vehicle was being driven down a state highway, creating the potential for a serious crash. The ring into which the latch hooks came free of the vehicle, causing the failure.3) to date, the local dealer and dodge (daimler chrysler) have declined to act on the complaint.

The transmission went out in the truck. Lhm dodge said that the lock up tork converter had gone out and that there was a national back order with no release date. The truck still has problems with the new transmission, it has been in the shop 3 times now for the same shifting problem and they tell me something new each time.
*scc

At low speed transmission shifts out of first gear, then suddenly engages as rpm is increased.truck suddenly lunges forward.
Several components, transmission does not shift properly sounds like driving on small rumble strips at 45, truck wonders aimlessly so much it is difficult to keep from going into oncoming traffic especially if road is a little rough, engine has a constant spark knock, nearly imposible to tow or plow, power steering pump went out while trying to plow for no apparent reason at all. I have talked to mechanics about the sparkknock and recommended burning high octane but the manual suggests it will actually run worse and they are not responable for engine damage from spark knock, wondering was admitted by the service manager and said it is acceptable by dodge and that's just how they drive, i asked one of the mechanics to look at it before i bought it because i didn't know if maybe i was just used to driving my old one, he said it needed a little time to break-in because it was a 2500 with a heavy duty suspension, it is still the same after almost 11,000 miles.

Transmission was replaced at 14,000 miles, and again at 32,000 miles.vehicle will not accelerate, and it takes a while to shift tonext gear. Dealer hasn't been notified.
Sudden acceleration ; while travelling slowly transmission will disengege from first gear, as accelerator is depressed, transmission will engage suddenly, causing vehicle to lunge forward.

It apparently a known fact that the tension bolt in my 1999 dodge 2500 standard transmission has a habit of backing out and damaging the entire transmission.this has occurred in my vehicle and i understand that there is a technical bulletin out on this due to its a common problem.this is clearly identified by dodge customer complaints and also by the dealership doing the repairs.why is this not a recall issue.my truck has been used 95% on freeway.it has 119,000 miles on it.being a diesel with what was considered the toughest transmission built, it should be good for at least twice this mileage if serviced properly which i have done.the oils were all changed less than 30,000 miles back and there was no indication of anything going wrong.this repair will cost me approximately $3,300.00 and fortunately did not damage too much or it could easily exceed this amount.i paid 37,000.00 for this truck and it should perform better than this or be backed by dodge within reason.*la
While driving my dodge ram 2500 pickup towing my horse trailer at highway speed, the overdrive 5th gear on the manual transmission disengaged and would not re-engage.i was lucky that this incident occurred when i was not in heavy traffic and could maneuver safely out of traffic to assess the situation.all other gears would engage and i had to complete my trip is 4th gear.after an inspection of transmission was completed, it was determined that the nut that holds the 5th gear in place on the transmission out-put shaft had backed off, causing 5th gear to slide rearward and disengage.dodge has circulated a service bulletin concerning this problem (21-10-98a) and has developed a repair kit to fix the problem.dodge failed to notify me of this potential problem.after reseaching complaints filed with nhtsa on this situation, i quickly found 10 complaints that relate to this problem.also after talking with local transmission mechanics, i found that several similar repairs have been done locally on dodge pickup 5-speed transmissions.this is a major safety issue and all owners of dodges with this transmission should be made aware of the problem.
On several occasions front seat beat retractors have stuck not allowing driver or passenger to use them. They will do this on every several months and then will act normal for a period. Dealer stated that it has to do with heavy braking and that the two seat belts operate independent of each other, but when one locks the other is also locked. We are of course a seat belt law state and hate being in violation of sc law. My mechanic has told me a recall was issued but unable to verify that fact.

A technician stated that his vin was not included; therefore, they would not assume financial responsibility for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000. The current mileage was 152,000.
Seat belts lock and can not be pulled out. This happens when vehicle is and is not moving. It also happens when passengers are able to wear them. It is so random. The seat belt light is on and seat belts are locked so they can not be put on. The seat belt timer, located under the middle of front seat which is the cause of this issue can not be purchased from dodge, it is on long term back order. This is a safety issue that dodge corporation needs to address as it is not legal to operate vehicle under these conditions.
After relatively short life, the seat belt control timer module fails, leaving seat belts inoperable - a significant safety hazard!! seat belts remain in a locked position, preventing use while driving. Dodge p/n 56043003ad.dodge has received reports about the problem along with requests to purchase part, for many years but has chosen to stop production of the part.that would not be as big an issue if they had ensured an ongoing supply from third party vendors.as it stands, they have created a major safety crisis for tens of thousands of users of the late 90's to early 2000's trucks.
When traveling on interstate seat belts starting retracting and would not release and gets tighter with every little movement.the only way to release was to shut off vehicle and open door.this has started to happen every time when going more than 25 - 30 miles.i contacted the dealership and was told the part to fix this was on national backorder.i searched the internet to see if i could find a part and was told by another dealership that 129 of these parts were on backorder and seems that none have been shipped in a while.my vehicle is inoperable with out the use of the seat belts.
Seat belts are locked in a retracted position. This was first noticed upon entering the vehicle after it had been parked. The seat belt control timer module (sctm) is likely the cause of this malfunction. This part is no longer being manufactured, so the seat belts remain unusable.

Combination seat/lap belt on driver's seat will not stay snug as directed in the owner's manual on page 22 warning section, column 1, item 2.hiller co. Dealership has tried very hard to find an answer to possible solution; dodge customer service was totally unresponsive; customer's proposed solution is not being considered.

Problems with brake rotors.*mr
Had a flat tire and could not get the rims off the wheel hub--went to dealer and he said to get under vehicle and hit rims with a sledge hammer---this has been ongoing since 2001--right now going thru this problem again after dealer said that it was fixed.
The steering in this vehicle is terrible when braking, the dashboard is craked and broken very bad in several places dodge wants to do nothing about these problems.when i apply the brakes the vehicle pulls very hard, this is not an allignment i have had that done changed the rotors the whole 9 yards still the same problem.the dash started out as a little crack now it is broken in several places.this is ridiculous.i will never purchase another dodge they dont stand behind there vehicles.
Vehicle pulls to the right when braking.had it in to dealer to many times to count. No luck with anything they've done.was surprised to see how many other "victims" have the same problem. Hope there's a permanent fix.it will probably take a death or two to get some one off their butt and fix this.*la
Rear brake line on my 99 dodge truck failed behind the tank on the frame rail due to rust. I had an emergency stop and the pedal went all the way to the floor. After inspection the rusted hard line had a pinhole in it from the added pressure of the emergency stop. I was able to avoid the collision but if i would have had a trailer it would have been a different story.
When applying brakes vehicle pulls sharply to the left. Was in 6 times for repair. They couldn't fix it and expected me to pay for their experiments to try to fix it. The chrysler rep tried to get out of paying under warranty. Finally fixed. Have driven truck about 1200 miles now and starting to pull again! brakes lock-up in a stern attempt to stop. Anti-lock brakes are a joke. *nlm
Dt*:the contact stated during sudden braking at various speeds, the vehicle pulls to the right.the dealership has made multiple repairs, but the problem persists.the tie rods, brakes, and calipers have been replaced.the wheels have also been aligned.
1999 dodge 2500 4x4 diesel brake line corrosion led to two failures resulting in no accidents.the brake line material used has no anti corrosion properties and corrodes in the midwest salt belt from purchase.the diesel lines adjacent to the brake lines are not corroded since they are made of a material which has corrosion resistant properties. All brake lines must be replaced.this is an extremely dangerous issue especially in towing or emergency braking situations.professional opinion would be that the brake lines have only a 3-4 year safe lifetime.
1999 dodge 2500 pick-upsafety issue. The steel brake lines are rusting out, am replacing with stainless steel as should have been done at the factory. The stock brake line blew out behind the fuel tank, got lucky went off the road and rolled to a stop in the woods before hitting a tree.
The vehicle hesitated when changing gears.the consumer notice fluid on the ground of the parking lot.the dealership indicated that this occurred because the transmission cooler lines were defective andfluid leaked out.the manufacturer and the dealership were aware of this issue, and were installing an updated lineand spring to correct the failure.the abs lightsand the brake light were on and was diagnosed as rear wheel speed sensor failure. *sc
Pick-up pulls hard and suddenly to the right when brakes are applied. Pads , proportional valve, calipers, and rotor have been replaced at a great expense, but no effect on the problem.

Under panic braking, the braking system seems to fail about the time when the anti-lock should be kicking in. Massive loss of pressure for periods of less thanseveral seconds under the panic brake conditions. Load and speed do not seem to matter or be factors.
No crash involved...yet.vehicle drifts to the right all the time & suddenly pulls hard right at random times.antilock brakes have never worked.have contacted 3 dealers about the problem & not one will admit there is a problem, yet i can find hundreds of people in internet chat rooms that have the same problem.

This truck is unsafe!! two weeks after purchase, steering pulled hard to the left when loaded/towing.now truck pulls hard to the right when braking (loaded or not), but will occassionally pull left.driver is never sure which direction truck will pull.dealership has made numerous "repairs" to the steering, suspension, and brakes; including but not limited to steering gear box, ball joints, calipers, suspension arms, alignment, tire pressure, tire rotation, tire size.district service manager has stated these trucks have "very sensitive suspensions" and the pulling is "normal".this is a 3/4 ton 4-wheel drive work truck and it has a "sensitive suspension"?
All the brake components except the master cylinderwere replaced 7 times starting at 7,000 miles because they either locked up or didn't function at times.an accident occurred due tothis failure. The brakes pulled right and the right side caliper was replaced.now the brakes are pulling left.it seems the calipers are defective as the rubber seals deteriorate with heat.i have contacted several other ram 4x4 owners who have experienced the same problem.the dealer (tuttle-click, irvine, ca) was very good about repairing under warranty.
Front brake calipers failed and replaced 3 times. *et
Abs system doesnt work at all.front brakes when appplied will lock up and rear wheels dont work at all they just roll along.put two set of barke pads on front. Almost had four collision.
Following the replacement of the front brake pads, the brakes failed, and the vehicle was returned to the dealers service department.the service manager told me that the brake pads had "melted and turned ino wax".it was simply a defective part, and that he had seen it occur previously on a dodge caravan. Anyway, i think that brake pads melting is a significant safety concern.my wife narrowly avoided a head on collision when the brakes failed at a construction area, and the vehicle veered into the oncoming lane of traffic -- she did not steer into this lane.she said it felt almost as if the brakes had been greased.
Consumer states that while driving at any speed and with no warning brake rotors wore out, causing extended stopping distance. Dealer notified.

There is no reason why i should be having a problem(e.g. Accident or abuse). My right rear wheel is getting a slight amount of oil or grease on the brakes, not enough to run down the tire but enough to get tacky on the brakes. As a rusult, the brakes grab real hard to the point that when the brakes are applied the right rear wheel locks up. Once stopped and release the brakes they stick then release with a hard thud. Very annoying not to mention dangerous especially in snow.i cannot afford to take it to a dealer so i guess i'm on my own.
Wrecked prior to sale to me. Never reported to me. Numerous service bullitons on this equipment, not reported to the owner. No safety defect listed.
Brake pull since new. Very dangerous. Very loose steering. Steering box defective cant control vehicle on road.
While driving 10 mph brake pedal proceeded to the floor. As a result, rear brake line broke. No impact reported.
The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500.while decelerating to approximately 10 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and it extended to the floor.the brake failure led her to cause a three vehicle crash.the contact was injured and a police report was filed.she noticed that brake fluid was leaking after the crash occurred.the vehicle was towed to a repair shop and they stated that the brake lines failed.the vin, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown.the vehicle currently remains at the shop.the current and failure mileages were 80,000.
Steel brake lines on 1999 dodge ram pickup corroding and bursting where line goes over top of fuel tank, brake fluid immediatly dumps and as a result immediate loss of brakes. Very dangerous.
Dt*: the contact stated while working on the brake lines, pressure was put on the shifter plate causing the shifter bolts to fracture and the shifter plate to fall off.the contact had the plate redrilled and the bolts replaced.the dealer was alerted.the consumer stated the problem began when the brake lines were replaced.
While driving 45 mph and attempting to stop suddenly the brake line exploded.as a result, vehicle swerved to avoid hitting other vehicles. Dealer stated that the brake linerusted.
My 1999 dodge ram 2500 has 47000 miles on it. While going down a hill a brake line burst. I was able to get it stopped without damage. Had it towed to the garage and it appears that most all of the brake lines from the vacuum booster to the rear are very rusty and ready to burst too. Researching this i find this to be common with dodge ram pickups. This should not happen with such low mileage.
The hard brake line on my truck rusted through just behind the fuel tank causing loss of braking while driving.this appears to be a serious problem on most or all 1996 and newer dodge trucks.after searching the web i found thousands of other dodge truck owners with the identical problem.is there a recall to notify owners and correct this serious problem?my truck has no other rust and has been garage kept since new.the entire brake line from the master cylinder to the rear of the vehicle needs to be replaced and the system bleed.
Brakes were applied after a stuck throttle due to mats. When applied no vacuum power available to stop the vehicle. Under full manual force on the brake pedal the vehicle was actually accelerating. Key off prevented any serious problems. A test found that under full throttle no vacuum is available for braking. All systems are normal and correct otherwise. Will not stop if throttle is engaged full, prior to the application of brakes. Tired of losing money taking vehicles to and from dealers. I'll have to accept the problem until such time as i can get it looked into. Advise testing of vacuum assisted brakes in the future by applying full throttle and then, full brakes. In this case there is no vacuum available. Scary!!!
While drivingsteering malfunctioned, which may result ina crash.common problem.the steering would lock intermittently and the let up.when backing up the steering pump broke.
When the vehicle steering is turned during takeoff front/back motion, from a parked posistion, the steering drags really bad.condition gets worse as the tempature drops.very difficult to get out of a parking lot while steering drags.
Although steering did not fail. It is horrible to keep control of vehicle. The steering has a constant binding you must overcome when turning in either direction. You end up over compensating and are in a constant zig-zag especially at highway speeds. This has been a problem with ram 2500'sso my dealer tells me. Chrysler says it is normal characteristic of this vehicle. I have never driven anything that steers as bad as this in my whole life.
Vehicle has pulled to right since driving it off lot.was told by salesman this was designed into truck for safety reasons.reguires 1/4 turn of steering wheel to continue straight travel and if steering wheel released, darts sharply to right.i've had two alignments by dodge dealer with no improvement in pulling.has also developed severe "shimmy" at higher speeds when encountering bumps or holes.
1999 dodge ram 1500 quad cab truck- when a bump or rough patch in the road is hit, the front end begins to shake violently. Wheel hop occurs and the vehicle must be pulled off the road and stopped completely before the steering returns to normal - happens almost everytime on the same bumps or patches on the same roads. The problem is so bad the truck is basically undrivable and is a very dangerous concern - only 74,000 miles on the truck and have replaced most all the frontend parts as well as brake rotors, etc. Still occurs. Seems daimler chrysler has known of this issue for some time, but has done nothing to resolve the issue. I am aware of serveral wrecks due to this issue and there is even a website that address the issues apparently many ppl are having - http://www.dodgetrucksteeringproblems.com/chrysler has done nothing to offer assistance and the dealer refuses to resolve the issues without havingto pay them allot of money and still it does not get resolved.
This 1999 dodge dakota has developed a violent shaking after hitting a bump in the road.the shaking or wobble lasts for approximately 15 seconds until the vehicle can be slowed and control regained.this seems to be related to death wobble talks.
1999 dodge truck, 2500, 4x4,quad cab, with cummins diesel.complaint:vehicle "wondering" back and forth and being difficult to maintain in its lane. I've had steering problems since purchase of this vehicle. No one seems to know what is causing the steering problem.
The steering malfunctioned.the consumer had taken the vehicle to the repair shop due to the vehicle pulling to the right.the consumer drove the vehicle for a while when it started pulling to the left.also, whenmaking a turn, the steering wheel jerked extremely hard that if the consumer didn't hold it tightly, it would jump out of his hands.the front end problems had not been solved after four attempts.the vehicle would pull hard when braking.the front tires were changes , but the problem remained the same. *scc
While driving onhighwayand when passing a semi- trailer vehicle pulled, and couldn't controlsteering.also, when traveling at 65mph vehicle wandered all over the road.in addition, while driving on a local road and making a right or left hand turn, steering wheel did not return back to the center.dealer has tried to correct the problem, but without success. *ml
While driving at 35 mphsteering went out, causingconsumer to run into a tree.also, when applyingthe brakes, they were hard and didn't stop the vehicle. In addition, engine sopped/ no deployment of driver's air bag upon impact.
While driving, the vehicle experienced erratic steering.
When parking vehicle and brakes were applied, there was no steering.contacted dealer.
Steering has a considerable amount of play when in center position.the truck drifts from left to right making it hard and laborious to control.the dealership and chrysler motors have had many chances to solve this issue but instead pass the problem back to me for resolution. (dot number: vnw81xl060tiresize: 265/75r16)
When brakes are applied, the steering wheel locks up, several repair attempts however vehicle continues to experience lock up. Yh
Steering column is loose. This causes the vehicle to veer out of control suddenly without warning, and the shifter does not slide into the gear properly.dealer has been contacted.
1.auto transmission drops out of drive to neutral when start from washboard road surface or hit bump while driving.dealer (ed moses dodge) says that chrysler recommends driving in 2nd gear. This info is not in the owners manual.2.steering will not center - always pulls r or l.2 attempts by dealer to repair have failed.unstable on washboard road.
3/7/2007. 1999 dodge ram. Contact states that a chrysler dealer told him not to use the tilt wheel because it will break the wires in the steering column again. **cc the consumer also stated t he seat belts are inoperative.
Steering loose at center, truck darts and weaves, steering drags while turning to the right. Dealer statement on repair ticket states "manufacture is aware of problem and cannot be repaired by the dealer".
Wrecked prior to sale to me. Never reported to me. Numerous service bullitons on this equipment, not reported to the owner. No safety defect listed.
Steering loose , many items have been replaced, in arbitration now.
Power steering is loose and vehicle wanders at 65 mph, constant leak in power steering gear box.*nlm

While driving vehicle wandered off the road. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that steering gear box was the cause of the problem.
This is my second truck from dodge. The first truck they replaced the steering box 4-5 times and tried many other things like alignment, tire pressure, tire rotation etc,to try to correct a severe wondering problem and they could not fix this. Chrysler offered me a new truck to replace this one and i reluctantly agreed.i finally took delivery after numerous paperwork problems and it turned out that this truck has the same problem along with several problems. I have had the truck to back to the dealer numerous times for the front end and they tried front end alignments, tire rotations, more tow on the front end, new steering boxes, replaced the brakes & turned the rotors at 8,000 miles, repainted about half the truck etc.when i first test drove the vehicle i told the salesperson (joe zappia) at wilsons that there was a front end problem with the vehicle and he assured me that it would be taken care of before delivery.i took delivery of the vehicle and i drove the truck down the street and realized that the truck was never fixed. I drove back to the dealership and spoke to the service manager on duty and he told me that they never told him that ther was a front end problem. So from that day on in january 1999 i have been very lucky to keep my truck in my own lane going down the road!

Whenever traveling at 65 to 70 mph it's hard to keep control.vehicle was drifting all over the road.consumer took vehicle to dealer, and they said it was defectivesteering box. Please provide any further information.
The power steering pump leaked a large amount of fluid resulting in no power steering or power brakes.nlm
Consumer stated the steering failed as well as the brakes. Also stated that he had this problem before. Dealer was contacted and stated that the power steering pump locked up and broke the shaft and the air pump for the power steering.vehicle out of warranty.
199 doge ram ext cab 4x4, diesel - ball joints and front bushings wearing out and need to be replaced with less than 48,000 miles on vehicle
Binding and slip-stick operation from new - @10,000 mi hard binding @20mph non-repeatable; dealer rep indicated stiff steering "normal"; independent alignment service reported non-adjustable internal binding; suspect factory misassembly or incorrectly manufactured internal component.
Cracked dash, many cracks across whole dash, large 8" x 8" hole broke through.
1999 dodge truck dashboard is cracking, and caving in. Leaving large sharp edges.
1999 dodge ram 2500. Dash started cracking in 2006..now is much worse and getting even worse. Eventually this dash will collapse completely, exposing wiring. I also am concerned that, in the case of an accident and if your head or neck struck the dash it would cause sever lacerations. Passenger side included.
The dashboard on my 99 dodge ram p/u has huge cracks and it leaves splinters of plastic that has broken off.there is no event that has caused this.i just noticed a small crack then it turned into a larger one.my vin plate has been missing for the past 4 years also.i fell into the dashboard workings.i am dreading the day of a collision because the dash is going to become shrapnal and injure someone...could be my wife and two daughters.how would they like to see their loved one with a piece of plastic hanging out of their eye or neck.
I have a 1999 2500 dodge and the dash is coming apart i bought this truck used 3 years ago.
I own a 1999 dodge ram 2500 pick up truck. The dashboard on the truck is criss-crossed with many cracks. I feel that this is a safety issue because in an accident the jagged shards of the dash boardcould turn into deadly projectiles.nothing led to the dash developing these cracks, it appears that the plastic wasn't designed to handle the stresses that day to day use places on it.currently the dash isn't replaced, if the manufacturer needs to see the dash they are welcome to view it.
My dash has been cracked for four years and has become worse. Other owner complaints relate to faulty wiring/head and tail light malfunctions due to the defective dash.
1999 dodge 2500dashboard falling apart big cracks and pieces falling in.
I have a 99' dodge 2500 diesel truck with a cracked dash.it is in pieces and am worried i will begin to have more problems with electrical components from all the pieces it is in and is constantly getting worse.i would like a new dash and an apology to keep me buying from dodge!!
Dash cracking.dash is in pieces and may affect airbag deployment.
The vehicle has a cracked dashboard.seems common for some model year dodge ram pickups.i am concerned that chunks of the dash could come off and blow into my face while driving with the windows open.this has happened to others who have a dodge ram with a cracked dashboard.
1999 dodge dash falling apart.
My 1999 dodge ram 2500 dash is falling apart.it is starting to "chunk" meaning pieces are coming out of it in what i would describe as sharp jagged "shards" with pointy edges.noticed it beginning of last year as a single crack, not it is extensive an spreading across my entire dash.i am concerned because now wiring is exposed which could short lights etc.the chunks could fly out at high speeds into my eyes blinding my vision.in a wreck who knows what would happen.
Cracked dash issues which would cause airbag failures and lights from under the dash blinding the occupants at night. Nothing has been done to correct the failure that i am aware of.
The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500.while driving 20 mph, the wheel detached from the wheel well.as a result, the contact crashed into two other vehicles, which damaged the axles.the vehicle was taken to a repair shop and the mechanic stated that the failure was due to a structural defect.she also spoke with the manufacturer and they stated that they would assist; however, the contact has not heard from them since the incident.there were no injuries.a police report was filed.there was a defect investigation case number pe99069, but it has been closed.the current and failure mileages were 102,206.
My dash on my 1999 dodge ram 2500 has completely fell through causing wiring problems my lights will just stop working.
The dash first developed a crack but has now developed holes in the dash.
1. Dash cracking and collapsing...due to ?2. Vin plate no longer visible, pieces keep breaking off3.nothing has been done to fix the problem.hoping dodge would recall.
The dash in my 1999 is falling apart. I am worried about the air bags and wiring being exposed. I know this is a very problem with dodges.
Dash cracks which may lead to ripped airbags on deployment. May also cut electrical wires causing sparks or fire.
Dashboardcracking on the 1999 dodge ram 2500 4x4.
The dash on my 1999 dodge 2500 pickup truck began to crack a few years back. Thinking this was sun damage, i installed a dash cover to prevent further cracking however, the dash has continued to fracture in several places. I fear that if the air bags were ever to deploy, the cab would be filled with shrapnel and shards of plastic from the dash. In researching the automotive forums on the internet, ifound this to be extremely common among these trucks.
I have a 1999 dodge ram 2500 that i purchased new.it has never been in any collision nor sustained any damage. The vehicle is normally parked in a covered location out of the sun and is well maintained. In late 2009 a short crack appeared on the right side of my vehicle dash extending from the windshield towards the passenger seat.several months later several other cracks appeared.as of fall 2012 several major cracks appeared in front of the steering column.the cracks are jagged and sharp exposing occupants to being cut. The dash appears to be rapidly deteriorating and defective and continues to spall. Also this cracked dash appears to be a major safety hazard in the event of a collision or air bag deployment.
This vehicle is very seldom driven, once a week 1/4 mile. It is parked with a windshield cover across windshield to protect dash. The dash is completely falling apart in pieces. It began with small hairline cracks, then pieces began to fall in. It appears that a defective material was used to make the dashboard. The plastic has turned into a ceramic type material. Now huge pieces are falling in. I ordered a dashboard cover when the problem first began but before it has even arrived i am concerned that there won't be anything left to place the cover on.
The dash has broken into several pieces (this is a serious safety issue) and is no longer intact or attached to the mounting areas.it started with one little crack and then larger pieces began breaking free.the edges are very sharp and will cut you.upon any kind of impact to the vehicle, pieces will fly into the eyes, face, body and the driver or occupants will be injured.this is a serious safety issue.the truck is not safe to operate/drive with the dash in this condition.
Dash in 1999 dodge ram cracking and falling apart.
1999 dodge ram 2500 4x4 slt laramie, the dash board is cracked and falling in. I am afraid if i get in an accident the cracked dash will cause electrical problems, or a problem with the airbags to tear and possibly hurt or kill someone. I believe it is a manufacture problem and not the owners problem like chrysler claims when you contact them. My truck has been garage kept for the last 7 yrs and it is still cracking. Chrysler claims that if there were a cover on it, it wouldn't crack. I didn't hear of chrysler giving out dash covers to owners who requested them. I believe the company should atleast replace cracked dashes with something safer!
Cracked dash near passenger side airbag, seems like it could be dangerous if the airbag deployed.
Cracked dashboard. I cut my finger on the sharp edge of the cracked dashboard.i started doing research on repairing or replacing the dashboard so none of my children would injure themselves like i did.my research found that there is a widespread problem with dodge ram dashboards cracking,so i decided to file a complaint.
1999 dodge ram 2500 the dash board is coming apart in big sharp chuncks cracks are forming .
1999 dodge ram 2500: the complete dash assembly is cracking and flaking into pieces along the top cover from left to right and from the cluster to the windshield. Features are cracking along the lower section of dash, also, from the left to the right side. This will soon effect the structural housing area around the right side srs airbag mounting. I'm concerned about the stability of the srs airbag deployment functioning properly in the event of deployment. There is also the possibility of the wiring harness being damaged or failing due to sharp edges of the plastic in the dash assembly. If the sharp edges cut the wiring and the cut wire edges rub together, this will cause a premature deployment of the srs airbag.there is also a concern of the main dash harness being damaged from sharp edges and causing the possibility of a short between voltage and ground circuits touching causing excessive heating of shorted circuits and causing fire in the brittle plastic areas.
The dash started cracking on the passenger side near the defroster vent this past winter. Within the last week, the crack has grown to about 10 - 12 inches in length toward the passenger side airbag. The crack is growing each day now.
Dash cover and plastic substructure cracked and sharp pieces falling off into the dash. Dash pulling away from the firewall on the passenger side. Headlight and hvac control mounting points broken lose and falling into the dash.concerned about proper airbag deployment in event of a crash with lose dash fragments and the dash detaching further from the firewall and becoming a projectile causing additional injury to occupants.
Over time the dashboard started cracking in multiple places.pieces have broken off.no excessive wear was placed on the dash.have not replaced the dash due to cost.
I own a 1999 ram 2500 and my dashboard is also falling apart.over the last few months the dash is busted and cracked all the way across. The trim around the gauges is all cracked. *1
My 1999 dodge dashboard started cracking and months later pieces are breaking away as i clean it. It is so brittle i can't touch it any more.i always use a sun shield and always leave my windows cracked open to allow proper air flow to prevent issues from happening. This is unacceptable. "come on dodge" what kind of garbage is this.i've had many other trucks with way more miles than this and had never had a problem like this. This is not normal wear. This is the sign of poor quality!!!do to the fact that dodge is turning a blind eye on this problem i will not buy another dodge again.
The dashboard cracked from the windshield towards the driver.a separate crack also extended onthe passenger side from the windshield towards the passenger .the cracks did not meet they were separate. Consumer was concerned that the windshield will eventually separate.
The dashboard in1999 dodge ram 2500 is severely cracked in many places, and has been for months, and finally one day a section just fell in while i was driving, right above the instrument cluster. This was a concern at the time, and i was told by dodge to just purchase a new one. Since the hole appeared the whole dashboardrattles while i drive .it is not only is annoying, but also distracting.
99' dodge ram 2500 quad 4x4 dashboard is cracked in 9 places and is completely free from it's anchors due to cracking at the attachment points.started to crack in 2004 but dodge denied any warranty coverage for it then.dodge dealer stated then it was due to climate conditions in ca.
Multiple fissures are developing in the dash and the structural integrity of theentire console is questionable.
Dash is cracking in four different locations and pieces are beginning to fall inside.i'm afraid that this will lead to electrical shorts or interfer with the airbag operation.dodge will do nothing except install new dash for $900.
1999 dodge 2500 ram dash cracking causing wiringproblems.
The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that the dashboard cracked into pieces. The contact also stated that the manufacturer would not repair the dashboard even though the air bags were showing. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 81,000. The vin was unavailable.
Dash pad cracked.

Both tailgate support cables snapped (at the same instance) while standing on the tailgate while lifting approx 85 lbs. Two individuals were on the tailgate with their total weight approx 390 pounds. The protective cover on the cables was worn but cable fraying was not evident. Damaged parts are available. No replacement yet.
Dt*: the contact stated while braking from various speeds, there was a clicking noise coming from the front end of the vehicle.it was first taken to a private repair shop, who determined there were cracks throughout the frame on the front end.the vehicle was then taken to a service dealer, who determined that the vehicle would need to be inspected by a factory representative.the manufacturer was contacted and the vehicle was inspected.the manufacturer deemed the vehicle unsafe to be driven.updated 12/18/06.
The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500. The contact was driving approximately 70 mph when the vehicle exhibited a loud rattling noise from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they informed the contact that the front frame was completely rusted beyond repair. The vehicle was not being driven due to the safety hazard involved. The failure mileage was approximately 116,225.
*scc
Had a flat tire and could not get the rims off the wheel hub--went to dealer and he said to get under vehicle and hit rims with a sledge hammer---this has been ongoing since 2001--right now going thru this problem again after dealer said that it was fixed.

There is a problem with vehicle, its drifting.iftowing vehicle and its drifting, it makes matters worse. Defect in front suspension design causes the vehicle to drift.
Loose and unstable area in steering, vehicle wonders to both left and right, must continuly correct to keep in driving lane.uneven road surface and wind seem to increase problem, can feel the front wheels pulling at steering wheel at times.this is not a safe situation. Have had to dealer, they said this was normal and that chrysler would not remedy the problem.
*scc
Pick-up pulls hard and suddenly to the right when brakes are applied. Pads , proportional valve, calipers, and rotor have been replaced at a great expense, but no effect on the problem.
Vehicle wanders since april 14, 1999. Dodge manufacturerrecognizes the problem and says that it's normal.
The loud noise and vibration that the vehicle makes when turning left and going over bumps, cause is unknown. Yh

Vehicle experiencing vibration due to suspension failure, repairs were done several times, problems still exist, shocks are leaking oil due to failure.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
Have had a severe right hand pulling problem under moderate to severe braking.i have brought my vehicle to the dealership at least four times for the same issue but the problem still persists.the problem seems to be worse as the brakes are at their operating temp.when brakes are cold the pulling problem is minimal.prior visits to the dealership has resulted in the replacment of calipers, alignment and proportion valve.eventhough these parts have been replaced the problem still exists.the problem revealed itself as early as 15,000 miles and has persisted intermittantly since that time.

Stabilizer shock on 4-wd models is mounted below front end.it is the lowest part of the vehicle, and when it hits an object, it bends the shaft and causes loss of steering.i work in construction, and it has happenned to me twicesince last summer.
Recall notice 99v322000 only requires the manufacturer to replace a lable for underrated tires. Due tounderrated tires, tires are wearing excessively, consumer requests that the tires be replaced. Please provide any further details.
The left front tire rubbed on the brake hose caliper. The consumerwas able to see metal on the brake hose.
While driving vehicle at 40mph and no warning the spare tire fell off the bottom of vehicle because cable that holds the spare snapped.
Consumer statedspare tire cable broke.the cable holding the spare was frayed and broke and the tire was gone.(tire winch cable broke by extended vibration) *sc
Dt*: the contact stated that during regular maintenance it was determined that the spare tire fell off the vehicle.this occurred without knowledge to the contact.the spare tire was originally located under the truck's bed.the dealership inspected the vehicle and determined the only part remaining was the frayed cable.the manufacturer has been alerted however they cannot provide assistance.the contact spoke with the dealership to see why the cable was not inspected during regular maintenance.the dealership explained this is not something that has to be inspected on a regular basis. Updated 7/5/2006 -
Valve to tires failed due to defect, resulting in loss of air pressure.
Consumer replaced trailer hitch prior to recall notification, requesting reimbursement(00v-107). *mjs
Dash has completely caved in, started cracking and continued to until whole top is gone.*ln
The dashboard has cracked and pieces have fallen down inside leaving big gaping holes that exposes all of the component under the dashboard to the searing florida sun.
The dash of my truck started to crack and now it is in pieces. I put on a dash cover to cover the large holes. I noticed others have had the same problem. The edges are sharp i tried to glue some together, but then another part of the dash failed. Will this affect the air bags? it seems this problem should be addressed, the hard plastic has sharp edges.updated 09/25/15*ljupdated 11/28/2017
Driving over a speed bump under 5 mph the dash board crumbled into several pieces. If this were to happen in a collision that shrapnel would be deadly. My truck only has 99800 miles on it. In excellent condition there is no reason for this to happen. There are thousands of complaints online about these dashboards just falling apart. It's a serious safety issue and dodge needs to be made to recall them.
The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500.the contact noticed an eight inch long crack on the dashboard.the dealer stated that it was not covered under the warranty.the current mileage is 107,000 and failure mileage was 50,000.
The dashboard of my 99 dodge ram is completly shattered. It is so brittle that it crumbles when touched.i have had pieces break off just by turning on my defroster. Pieces have fallen off while going over a speed bump.
Wrecked prior to sale to me. Never reported to me. Numerous service bullitons on this equipment, not reported to the owner. No safety defect listed.
The dash is breaking into sharp pieces that may hit occupants and cause injury in an accident.
I have a 1999 dodge 2500 truck that started with one crack in the dash and each week i seem to get another. They are now approaching the passenger side air bag.i worry that one day i will be driving and the dash will just come apart.i am sure that in any kind of front end crash pieces of dash would fly all over the cab of the truck.
I have a cracked dash on my truck and i am concerned that this will become a safety issue. The vehicle is well taken care of and it makes the vehicle appear cheap and poorly manufactured. I will need to replace my dash as it continues to get worse, i am concerned that it will effect airbag deployment in a crash.
Dash pad on top of dash started cracking into pieces. Could be dangerous in a crash or air bag deployment
My dodge ram 2500's dash started showing small cracks within a few years of purchase. I ignored this until the cracks started spreading over the whole dash. I then taped over the cracks and put a dash rug over the dash for protection. I recently removed the rug, and was shocked to see that the cracks had become large pieces of dash material that were falling down under the dash.
No injury.99 dodge ram 2500 dash board material/construction quality issuedashboard split almost full width from the defroster register to the instrument bezel just to the right side of the driver. Is the passenger side airbag still safe since it's dash mounted? original dash is still in vehicle.
1999 dodge ram 2500 diesel pickup, with grey interior. Dash cracked after 3 years, and i live in vancouver, washington, not a place known for sun. There are many many others with the same story and this deserves to be tracked.
My dash is falling apart.it has cracked into many sharp pieces and lost all of it's structural integrity.since car seats should be placed in the front seat of this vehicle, the pieces that have completely broken away from the dash are hazardous to my child's health.
I have a 1999 dodge cummins with the "typical" cracked dash.the truck was purchased with the cracked dash.i have gone to many junk yards trying to find a replacement for it (since dodge wants to much) and every truck i have found is in the same condition,it is obviously a common problem.some dash's have even collapsed because of these cracks.
Went to have a front end alignment done because the truck felt off in the front when driving.and the mechanic stated he couldn't do it as the frame is rotted where the drivers side sway bar bolts to the frame. It is right before the steering gear box and was told it's a huge problem that these dodge's have. Truck only has 98000 miles on it and it is always garaged. Maintenance always done as stated per the owners manual. It's not safe to drive.
When cruise control is set engine accelerates to a higher speed.driver has to apply the brakes in order to slow down. Dealer can't finda solution.
Sudden acceleration ; while travelling slowly transmission will disengege from first gear, as accelerator is depressed, transmission will engage suddenly, causing vehicle to lunge forward.
Vehicle parked.started vehicle, took it out of park and it lunged forward causing damage to 5th wheel trailer, park bench and truck struck a tree.caused damage to tie rod, broken pitman arm, front bumper, headlight, possible frame damage as well as damage to 5th wheel trailer.this happened on one previous occasion, about 2 years ago, i can't remember the date.vehicle accelerated suddenly while braking for a stop light.vehicle was immediately taken to dealer for inspection, but they found nothing wrong.
At low speed transmission shifts out of first gear, then suddenly engages as rpm is increased.truck suddenly lunges forward.
Cruise control on vehicle will surge 10-15mph over speed at which it is set.in one instance the unit had been holding a steady 55mph for approx. 10 min. And began climbing through 65 before it was caught and disengaged.this surge behavior appears to be low-temperature dependent as it ceases in the summer and re-occurs in the winter.
While driving my father's 1999 dodge 250 diesel pickup at any speed between 35 and 65 mph, the cruise control would not disengage when brakes were applied.engine raced and attempted to maintain cruise speed.accident averted by switching off cruise control.event duplicated many times under safe and controlled conditions.no maintenance performed yet.dealer contacted but unaware of this failure scenario.
*scc
Windshield wipers became intermittent at best and then would not work at all on any speed. After a few minutes they would move an inch or two. With all the rain we have been having this is very dangerous.
The contact owns a 1999 dodge ram 2500 which was purchased in 2008.he stated that the front drivers side seat belt retractor would lock intermittently without depressing the brakes. He could not operate the vehicle adequately while locked tightly into the seat. The dealer stated there were no recalls and no repairs were made to the seat. He also stated the front windshield wiper motor failed and the wipers were inoperable. The dealer stated that the tire module needed to be replaced at the owner's expense. No repairs were made to the vehicle to date. The failure and current mileages were under 112,000.
Had a flat tire and could not get the rims off the wheel hub--went to dealer and he said to get under vehicle and hit rims with a sledge hammer---this has been ongoing since 2001--right now going thru this problem again after dealer said that it was fixed.
Brakes overheating causing wheels to become hot. Wheels are condinsating on inside causing rust on inside of wheel causing valve stem failure and tires to become gaulted to wheel making it imposable to save tire for repare. (dot number: m32ktiresize: lt24575r16)
Both front tires are exhibiting bubbled sidewalls on the lt235/85r16 tires suggesting early stages of tread separation from carcass. Driver's side looks to be out of round as well. Lot numbers are identical elw0408. No accident as yet, but appearance is worrisome based on listed failures in in the nhtsa database. After the recent reports on the poor tracking of tire failures and lack of accountability, i believe this report is relevant and pertinent to public safety.
While driving on highway, approached a traffic light, applied brakes and vehicle pulled to the right extremely hard, and went out of control.contacted dealer. They repairedvehicle by putting shims behind the driver's side front wheel.wheel was not on hub after installing shims, shims did not fix problem. *ml
