Auto-transmission; system up shifts too quickly @ too low a speed causing engine to hesitate and vibrate. Please describe details.tt
Transmission slips at 50mph. Transmission also disengages from overdriveat 65- 70 mph. This has happened many times. Dealer has not fixed it yet. Pcm had been replaced in 1995.pcm reprogram in 1997. Transmission has had bands adjusted in1997 . To date over drive unit has not been checked out. This problems only happens whenin overdrive .which makes me think overdrive unit needs to be rebuilt. Have had three miss rear ends in june 17,1999because overdrive would disengage, and transmission slipping at 30 mph,50 mphon june 17,1999 dealer is ordering overdrive switch , thinks this is the cause .have a chrysler file #5902303.
Vehicle experienced failure of the recall component (00v-135) on several occasions prior to recall notification causing several component failures, owner requesting reimbursement. *mjs
Front end ofvehicle had to be rebuilt fourtimes, replacing various components includingtie rods/ stabalizer bars, etc.suspension problems lead to poor handling control, and is unsafe for operation on the road.also, in may of 2001 after startingengine, ignition would not stop turning which caused smoke to come from the engine compartment. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
On two occasions ignition switch wirescaught on fire. This caused the plastic around the ignition to melt. Dealer informed the consumer that there was a recall, but this vehiclewas not covered under the recall due to vin.
The truck could not be turned of, the igniton switch was locked out because the contacts in the starter solenoid relay had welded shut. This prevented the started bendix gear from disengaging after the vehicle started. On the diesel truck, this also controls the fuel shutoff relay. With the sloenoid contacts wleded shut, the circuit could not be de-energized, so that the ignition switch would work properly and allow the truck to shut off. As a result, the starter solenoid drastically overheated, causing a direct short which caused a fire in the wiring harness.it also caused the fuel shutoff solenoid to overload, burnig it and its wiring harness.the only way to shut down the vehicle was to disconnect both negative battery terminal cables from each of the batteries.the starter solenoid that over heated and shorted out is directly below and slightly of to the side of the diesel fuel drain.had i not had in my possession a small adjustable wrench to remove the battery cables, the trucks electrical system would have entirely shorted out and most likely caused a serious engine compartment fire.the manufacturer has known of tis defect for many years, at leat as far back as 1995.it could have been avoided had the manufacturer used a better quality contact set ($30.00). The factory installed contact set in the solenoid is gross design flaw.my wife and i were very lucky this time.

Driving during the day with lights on (low beam) and smoke and the smell of burning plastic began pouring out of the upper left portion of the dash.the failure was the light switch which was burnt and so was the plastic connector.the dodge dealer was aware of the problem and i was told by the parts person that if i just replaced the switch with out putting in an updated wiring harness that there was a 100 % probability that this incident would occur again.was told that there was a replacement part (switch and wiring harness) for $88 which would also take two hours of shop time to install and that, although they were aware of the problem, there was no recall.i did keep the original switch.

Engine controller failed.
Consumer experienced random episodes of sudden loss of engine and braking power. (nar)*ph
With engine in idle and applying brakes more than twice, the third time loss of power brakes will occur. Dealer has installed new check valve, but defect keeps occurring. Consumer feels diesel engine does not produce enough vaccum while in idle , 800 rpms. Chrysler has now developed a fix toinstall a vaccum accumalator at consumer costs.
While driving about 60-70 mph, the van began to lose power. After coming to a complete stop owner noticed fire coming fromthe under carriage of van. The van was totalled. Fire department not able to determine cause of fire.
While driving 35-40 mph, the truck started smoking. Driver pulled truck to the side of the road and noticed a fire under the center of truck. Driver was able to put out the fire. Driver had truck towed to home. It was discovered that the plug to the coil pack came loose, caused unburned fuel to combust in exhaust and rubber and plastic components to burn, including plastic fuel tank. *ml

The headlights suddenly went out, vehicle went out of control, applied brakes b ut they didn't wotk, vehivle hit a rock wall. During inspection, it was noted that brake pads and rotors were worn out.both driver/passenger sustaine dinjuries.
Headlight quit working as i'm driving down the road at night.... Smelled a faint plastic burning smell.
Headlights too dim to safely drive at night due to the fact that the plastic light assembly is perminatly fogged.6 years of heat and moisture have fogged the lense. I have been noticing this effect on many cars here in florida with these plastic headlight assemblies. Replacement of the two light assembles w/labor is $250.it would would seem to me that this is a defect in the plastic material. These plastic lenses should have been designed to out last the life of the vehical.
Head lights go out then back on.head lights go out again, smell smoke in cab of truckcan not see road, had to stop truck before going of road.bought new headlamp switch to put in, found wires burn and connector melted.can not drive truck now.

Fuel line which is attached to the pump assembly is leaking fuel into the engine compartment.consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer knows of the problem. Consumer also stated the manufacturer no longer sells the fuel line to correct the problem.
Design of the fuel lines would not withstand the vibration of the diesel engine.
Fuel line failure.
Defective fuel hose split lengthwise and caused a fuel leak.
Replaced fuel filter.
Fuel injection pump failed, vehicle wouldn't start properly.
Rear fuel tank strap broke off, without realizing it. Happen to notice fuel tank hanging down from vehicle. Had to put a rachet strap on it to pull it back up in place. The bracket was still in place. Looks like the spot welding from the strap to the bracket let loose. Called several dodge dealers, they had none in stock or they were on backorder. One dealer even mention he notice nation wide there was 500 of these straps on backorder. This tells me dodge has a problem. If i hadn't notice my fuel tank as soon as i did, it would have fallen off and who knows what may have happen. I feel this should be a recall effort on dodge's part. I plan on having a custom strap fabricated, seeing the dodge dealer could give me no time frame on when to expect a replacement strap.

The vehicle was involved in two separate accidents due to hood latch becoming disengaged, consumer is seeking reimbursement for the damages since the failed part was on recall, manufacturer denied consumers claim stating that the particular vehicle identification number was not included in the recall. (insurance company on behalf of client).
The hood on my 1994 dodge ram pickup came open as i was driving down a highway, now i have a hood that will not shut and a truck that is not drivable. I have owned this truck for 2 1/2 years and have never heard of the recall that was done on the hood latch.
While driving 55 mphhood flew open and broke windshield, latch was securely shut.
While driving onhighway at 65 mphhood flew up without prior warning, slamming intowindshield, and obstructing driver's vision. Hood latch was replaced under a recall several years ago. Problem has reoccurred.
The front left tire came into contact with a small bump while slightly turning left. It violently started wobbling making it nearly impossible to maintain control, and will only stop when your speed reaches under 25 mph. The death wobble was very unpredictable when it first started happening, but now it is constantly threatening. I took the truck to auto nation dodge ram on arapahoe rd in colorado back in may of 2014. I asked them to fix all recalls, and described to them what was happening. The invoice i received claimed to have fixed just a few recalls that did not fix the main problem. While i was driving home from the dealership the death wobble happenedonce again, and the parts that were claimed to be fixed clearly was incorrect.
The transmission mount failed causing the drive-shaft counter ballance to move approx. 4" to the left. This caused the drive-shaft counter ballance to wear a hole about 3' long and 1' wide in the fuel tank. The result was lost fuel spraying under truck, coating rear tires and brakes. This could have caused a fire or possible explosion.
Consumer states that the clips on the line that goes into the transmission, came off while driving, resulting in lost of fuel, vehicle stalled out. Replaced part problem reaccured.
Consumer had transmission problem a few times, and dealer couldn't determine from whereit was coming.vehicle would vibrate/slip when going into reverse, wasn't shifting inot 3rd gear.some repairs were under the warranty, but there was a new part thatwasn't already in the vehicle which the consumer had to pay for.consumer took vehicle to a repair shop, and fine pieces of metal were found when the transmission was dropped.

Transmission cooling line has been leaking oil due to improper fittings.dealer stated fittings were no longer manufactured. Both lines have to be replaced in order to put in newer fittings.the consumer stated that leaking oil from fitting may cause a fire.
Transmission cooling unit and linesare leaking transmission fluid on the exhaust manifold due to faulty connector.
Transmission cooling lines leak, causing vehicle to stall unexpectedly, which may result in a fire.the transmission cooling lines have been replaced 3 times.dealer cannot determine the problem. *ml
Transmission cooler line fittings failed resulting in leakage and damage to converter and lines.
The transfer case shift grinding and some vibration at 40 to 45 mph .tt
Vehicle was stuck in mud. Consumer put the vehicle in 4-wheel drive to take it out but was inoperative. Had to put it in reverse to try to get vehicle out. Heard loud noise,s uddenly 4-wheel drive kicked in. Started to reverse rapidly. Due to this defect the vehicle ran into a tree. Dealer replaced 4-wheel drive component.
Three bolts in the transfer case worked their way out under normal driving conditions. When vehicle was put into 4- wheel drive, the remaining bolts snapped, causing the drive line to rupture the transfer case.the dealer and manufacturer have been notified.
While driving at 60 mph, a passenger accidently hit the shift indicaterand vehicle gear went to park, engine was destroyed. Consumer feels gears should not be able to move just by bumping against the shifter. Consumer stated vehicle skidded out of control, rolled 3/4 of 1 turn, destroying the fiber glass bed cover, cab both doors, hood and fender.
While driving at 30 mph rear axle came off, and the wheel and axle came off with the rear axle.

When driving the truck and you go to brake, the truck pulls to the left. We have own this vehicle from day 1. New caliberswas installed when it first started and that has not fixed the issue. We have learnt to deal with this issue, even though it could be dangerous when coming to a stop. Is there a problem. For after reading the complaints this has been an issue for a while on some of these trucks. What is the fix.
Brakes do not work consistantly.abs will kick in and brakes fail.
Vehicle vibrates badly when brakes are applied due to the rotors being out of round.
After pressing the brake pedal a few times the brakes stopped working.
Abs brake failure, when coming to stop, vehicle will pull very hard to left or right.tt
Abs brakes fail to operate properly in a panic situation.
After shutting off engine it will continue to run. Dealer cannot remedy the problem.the cause for the engine to continue running after it was turned off was determined by the dealer to be a rusted fuel solenoid.the consumer stated that this defect and the faulty brakes make the vehicle unsafe to drive.
The brakes have failed six times over the six years i have owned this truck. The brake pedal stays firm but there are no brtakes. Kfive times i coasted to a stop, the latest failure resulted in a minor one car accident. We are afraid to drive this thing and only used about 500 miles in the past 18 months. The truck has been to the dealers several times, once for four weeks and they don't find a problem. I have a comercial drivers license and spent 17 years as a foriegn car mechanic.
Brake system on dodge ram 2500 causes a dangerous pulling condition.i have nearly been in several accidents when pulling a trailer, as the additional weight causes the pulling condition to become very severe.i feel this is a security risk to myself and other motorists.
When brakes are applied with a load will not in a timely manner.the dealer has been notified.
When backing up with a trailer attached, and applying brakes for the forth time,it causedpedal to harden and lost brakes. Both brake and abs lights would come on within 10 seconds or more between brakes return, and then loss of brakes again.dealer notified, and informed consumer that was normal. Please provide any further details.
Rear abs brakes; when pumping brakes about 3 to 5 times, the brake light comes on, causing brake pedal to get hard and brakes fail to stop the vehicle.please provide details.
Braking system worked intermittently. Had brake master cylinder replaced 3 times. Also, electrical problems/headlights going off and on/power windows going up and down, anddoor locks locking and unlocking while driving. Dodge replaced entire electrical system under warranty. Vehicle has been to dealer 74 times under warranty, dealer can't find cause of problem on brakes.
When applying brakes the vehicle will steer or pull to the left or to the right, causing loss ofcontrol . Dealer cannot determine defect.
When the brakes are applied, the front left/rear rightbrake would lock up. This would cause vehicle to go into a slide & then spin. An intermittent problem, but dangerous. Been to dealership & nothing was ever found wrong with brakes.
Abs operates with rapid pulsing of the brakes until a speed of about 8-10 mph is reached at which point abs stops pulsing for 1-1/2 seconds and vehicle rolls. The puase increases time required stopping distance.
Severe pulling from appyling the brakes and the brakes are worn out now and have been replaced once and they are abs brakes. Please explain.tt
Abs system failure, rear wheels will lock up when braking.tt

Abs, when brakes are applied, vehicle veers very hard to left when driving in for repair, seal broken in rear.tt
While driving on dry pavement at 30 mph or less, panic stops were required. The abs system operates with rapid pulsing of the brakes until a speed of about 8-10 mph is reached, at which point the system stop pulsing for 1-1/2 seconds and vehicle rolls freely. The abs then resumes and a complete stop is made. The puase causes extended stopping distance.
When applying brakes vehicle pulls excessively to the right.
The abs warning light stays on at all times. When applying the brakes, the pedal goes all the way down to the floor broad. This happens during normal braking, smooth road surfaces. This has been an on going problem since march of 1995. The dealer is not able to correct this problem.
Abs brakes malfunction, indicator light does not function.tt
Brakes failed several times vaccum booster replaced however did not remedy failures.
The brake system on the vehicle is not responding well, when applying the brakes the pedal is hard on occasions with no braking ability with the abs brake light illuminating, the dealership said that this was typical for the system. *mjs

Violent shaking in the front end/ steering, after driving over a bump or pothole at speeds over 40mph.
Experienced an extreme loss of control due to a wobble/vibration that would only stop when you slowed to a speed under 25 mph. The death wobble would go away but a slight vibration associated with a loose feeling in the steering is now constant. #94v202000, 94v097000, 93v173000, and 01v037000 all need replacing. The last recall mentioned here is the speed control throttle cable, and so far it has not been a problem. The possible effects due to its failure urges me to replace this part.
Dt:the vehicle shimmies severely and when the consumer hit a pothole the vehicle went out of control and he had to stop to get control again. This happened without warning. The consumer stated this has happened one other time about a year ago, and it happened two times this past weekend. Dealer said they could not duplicate the problem the first time and could not find what was wrong. The second time consumer took a tsb#190596 and the dealer said it did not apply to consumer vehicle.
Vehicle inspection indicated a problem with the steering system. The steering rod was coming out of the gear box. Steering box was replaced. Test drive of vehicle was a disaster. The vehicle was moving above 10 mph and almost uncontrollable.you were all over the road. The steering gear box was replaced two more times with little change.old gear box reinstalled and vehicle was taken home.vehicle was taken to another mechanic that worked for a closed dealership. Gear box was replaced two or three more times. All associated steering components were replaced at least one time. Problem still exist.vehicle is used sparely because of steering problem.it is only driven about 4 miles every week or two to keep the engine and transmission from going bad.steering gear box is a total engineering disaster. No one yet has found a clear solution to resolving this issue.there are no replacement anywhere for this that we have been able to find.chrysler quit making this gear box years ago. Vehicle is a $40,000 piece of junk.updated9/21/15*ln.....updated 10/01/15

While i was driving home from the dealership the death wobble happenedonce again, and the parts that were claimed to be fixed clearly was incorrect.
