After 61,000 miles on the engine/transmission, the shift lever and transmission will not go into park so that the driver can turn off the truck and remove the keys. Since the transmission is waranteed for 100k miles, this should not be occuring and having the owner to pay costly transmission bills in the process

When i purchased my dodge truck in 2012 the car lot where i bought it had used some kind of glue and tape on the dash it had every small crack. About 3 months later while driving down the roadpiece of dash fell out under my feet. Small pieces fell out several more times then bigger pieces started coming lose. I had to pull over and remove most of the dash in pieces. Now windshield is cracked my mechanic say its because of the dash being busted up like it is, that caused my windshield to crack.
While driving vehicle was impacted at 60 mph in an head on collision. None of the airbags deployed upon impact.
In march of 2003 i was involved in a fairly high speed collision head on with a older style ford bronco. My vehicle is a 2000 dodge ram 1500 sport edition. I was cited for failure to maintain my vehicle at a safe distance, and hit the "broken down" ford bronco with the nose end of my vehicle into the rear end of his vehicle at roughly 50 miles per hour. Unfortunately my air bags did not deploy. As i do understand that you need to hit certain spots on the vehicle to cause a reaction in the airbags, i assumed i did not activate the sensors, even though i hit the vehicle square on and my entire front end was buckled back roughly a 1'2" in (totaling in $9,600 in repairs at 30,000miles). However, in a more recent incident, august 2007 i was out of town on business and again sustained front end damage to the front end of this same vehicle (2000 dodge ram 1500) and again my airbags failed to deploy. In both events i was buckled in properly and experienced minor injuries, but i'm wondering why they never deployed. They fixed this vehicle again for whatever reason, and i no longer feel safe driving it. Unfortunately for me, i'm a college student without adequate funds to purchase a new vehicle, and my job as a technical consultant for a industrial company requires that i work within a 400 mile radius. What can i do to ensure my own safety in this vehicle that apparently doesn't utilize the airbags on impact?
Wife had an accident where she rear-ended a vehicle at approximately 65mph. Driver's side airbag didn't deploy. Passenger side airbag was turned off due to our daughter being in a child safety seat.
Dashboard of my 2000 model dodge ram truck cracked, it is now a possible air bag deployment safety hazard, i would like for dodge to fix it so that my air bags do not accidently deploy.
Dash board is cracked on driver's side from windshield to instrument cluster, and passenger side is crack and missing/ loose pieces on dash just above passenger airbag, worried if airbag deploys passenger may be injured do to broken dash pieces possibly being projected from dash.
The dash board has shattered and fallen into the vehicle. Pieces of the dash fly out at you when you turn the fan on. The pieces of the dash are allover the floor and get into everything. If we ere to be in an accident the air bags would come straight out the top and hit the windshield. The dash board provides no support to the vehicle and would not help anyone in the front seat if they were to be in an accident..
During a frontal collison the air bag failed to deploy, the manufacturer refused any assistance stating that the threshold for air bag deployment was not met and that the impact was absorbed by the vehicle crush points, the injuries in the accident were minimal.nlm

I am the owner of a 2000 dodge 1500 pickup and soon after the warranty expired the dash began to get cracks all over it.the cracks became larger and larger and spread and spread until they became holes!large pieces have broken off, and in the event of an accident, i wonder how safe it would be to have these sharp pieces of plastic flying around for a person(even a child perhaps)to get cut with or even killed!a small cut in the correct spot could leave a person to bleed to death.the cracks have moved to the area of the passenger air bag and i am also concerned that if deployed, the bag could be effected by them or vise versa.i have to ask myself, what kind of manufacturer would want that to happen even after they are aware of the situation.does their responsibility to the consumer really end after the warranty expires?i don't think so.people trust these companies to provide a safe and reliable product and when it doesn't work out that way, we need the support of the federal government to step in and take action any way that they can.now one might say i am only a tiny voice in a big world, but "oh cont-rare", this is a common problem.i work for the federal government and would estimate that out of about 350 personnel at my office at least 15 of them own this model of truck and many of them have the problem.also we use these vehicles at work and the same thing happened to them, but they didn't seem to have any problem getting them fixed(i wonder if for free).i just want dodge to stand behind their product and keep the safety and well being of their customers in mind.i have waited for a while before complaining because i hoped that they would recall the item.i did call dodge and after being transfered several times i spoke to the recall department and they took my information.
Vehicle was forced off the road into a creek, and both air bags did not deploy. Manufacturer notified. Feel free to provide any further information concerning this matter.

The dash on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 quad cab began cracking about a year ago.at this time i have two large cracks that have met to form a half moon shape that is sticking up from the rest of the dash.i also ha have two smaller cracks that extend from the windshield to the edge of the dash where it curves down to the airbag.i am certain that should the airbag deploy in a crash sections of the dash were the cracks are will fly off and cause further injury to anyone in the passenger compartment.

Complete collapse of plastic dashboard and gauge bezel.the top of the dashboard had so many stress cracks that there wereno gaping holes in the top.it was possible to access all of the wiring through the top of the dashboard.this seemed to be a safety issue as there was no structural integrity to the dashboardnow if the airbags deployed.

My complaint is in regard to my 2000 dodge ram 1500 dashboard. It has been cracking for years and the wiring underneath is now almost 100% exposed. I have already had electrical problems and have just recently in the past month have gotten the electrical system restored. I have contacted daimler chrysler and constantly been given the run around. Please help me as i know i am not the only consumer to have this same problem. Thank you very much.

While i was driving on a city road, the vehicle just shut off. Almost like i turned the ignition off. All gauges worked as normal, stereo, a/c, etc(aux power components) . No check engine light came on or anything. Pulled to side off road and turned hazards on. I tried to restart vehicle it would turn over but would not start,i then noticed in the odometer that it stated "no bus" . Thinking it may have been an electronic system issue with fuel system i checked fuse box under the hood. I pulled the fuel system relay out then reinstalled. Truck started up ( all this took about 5-10 min). So i purchased a new relay but waited to have see if issue was resolved. Sitting in a parking lot a few days later i started vehicle andstarted to load groceries , the vehicle shift off again, i tried to restartand same thing, looked at odometer and again it stated 'no bus" so i installed new relay. Put in off position and tried again. Still no luck. Waited a few min and tried to start vehicle again and it started up. Looked up on forums to find possible solution and the next step was to try the coil. I have installed new coilon06/05/2018 and am currently waiting for issue to come again. To day is 06/06/2018. Thinking back the vehicle has had some jerking motions that almost resemble the same symptoms but never fully died , just jerked really bad but continued to drive. This is unsafe for if i was on a highway it kills power to the power steering pump and could cause an accident.
Potential safety issue.when the engine quits, power steering is lost.with the small steering wheel and low gear ratio, extreme effort is required to steer.the dodge 2000 ram 1500 pickup also has a computer for the engine.this has caused the engine to shut down suddenly and steering became extremely difficult.this has happened three times dodge has not been able to determine if the computer or the wiring is at fault.to replace the computer costs $750 with no certainty this will fix the problem.chrysler/dodge has not been willing to assist.
The power control module and body control modules blew out twice within the first 4000 miles of the trucks life.the leaky intake manifold was detected after several complaints of a tapping noise in the engine when accelerating.still not fixed vehicle still has real bad tapping in the engine.truck died while driving down the road.left me stranded.diagnosis was that the fuel pump module went out.electrical problems with the vehicle also shorted out the cassette player.i have also heard strange buzzing noises in the cab while driving.took back tot he dealer and they said they could not find anything wrong.vehicle is still not running properly.*nlm**dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*734309
2000 dodge ram 1500.the dash is faulty and falling into pieces.due to the dash literally falling apart, electrical wiring and electrical components are exposed.concerned about the risk of fire or electrical shock.also concerned about occupant safety if a crash occurred due to the lack of integrity of the dash.
My dash is cracked and broken. This has caused issues with my wiring as my speakers have stopped working. I am worried that this may lead to safety issues with life safety systems including air bags, headlights, turn signals, etc.
I went to start up my 2000 dodge ram 1500 and the whole dash was dead. No instrument gauges and "no bus" appeared on the odometer. Took it to my dodge dealership and they said it was a bad bcm. Need to replace it. I contacted dodge headquarters to ask if they can work with me on the price and they said no. There has been numerous complaints about this specific part going bad on other dodge models. This is a serious problem since i could have been driving on the freeway and all my gauges, speedometer, and everything else goes dead in the instrument panel.
Vehicle caught on fire, fire department stated that it was an electrical problem and it started with the battery, there was additional damage to another vehicle, the adjuster also stated the fire started near the battery, claim 36-a171-271.
The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic shop who advised the contact that the computer was faulty and needed to be replaced. The parts needed for repair were on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 104,000.
First is the dash. I bought the truck in feb 04 with 74,000 miles on it and shortly after i noticed a crack in the dashboard, since then the dash is falling apart and is more brittle than a sporting clay. If you snap off a piece and look at it you can see that about 1/5th of the way down from the top is brown since it has cooked in the sun. So that proves that dodge uses very cheap plastic for the dashboards. I looked into replacing it about 6 months ago and the top piece of the dash cost about 200$ and now that i have gotten my tax returns back i was going to get a new one but the price is now 375$. I guess dodge finally realized the problem with these dashboards and decided to cash in on them.the torque converter went out on the drive home from the dealership also, but 50 bucks from me and 2100$ from the warranty people fixed that. Second is the asd relay which means automatic shutdown relay and it isn't kidding with the name. A couple years ago when i started my truck it would shut off right away and wouldn't run right until i feathered the gas for a little bit, after replacing the throttle body control solenoid, the idle air control motor and mass air flow sensor i did a little more research and found it to be a 10 dollar relay from napa.the third problem is a whooping noise coming from the engine that i still can't figure out what it is. The truck makes the noise when its sitting still so i know its nothing in the suspension, although its louder when idling over small bumps.the fourth was the speed sensor in the rear differential, abs and brake light came on but didn't affect performance at all, replaced the sensor and didn't have any more trouble from it.fifth problem is the back window leaks but i'm going to fix that with a generous blob of welder glue inside when i finally get around to pulling the headliner down.
10:30 pm driving down a two lane highway no shoulder on a hill, it was like i turned the key off. Sure glad the flashers worked,i had my cell phone and a flash light so i could slow traffic down.lucky.. No one was hurt or killed.the pick up will crank over wont start. Towed it home, the odometer reads no bus there is no codes that can be read at the diagnostic link connector.it reads no link.. Why does dodge put a link connector on vehicles if there is no way to read any codes so i can fix it without spending hundreds of dollars at the dealership? the internet is full ofdodges with the same problem that people cant fix without hauling to the dealership.sure hope you can help fix this problem.(an electrical mess).
The dashboard of my vehicle has cracked and recently parts of it have caved in.wires are now exposed to the elements and i believe this poses a huge safety issue if there is an electrical failure (e.g., brake lights fail).this defect in the dash has been acknowledged by chrysler.
My dodge truck driving on the freeway at 65 all gauges zero out and the no bus reading is displayed on the odometer readout the truck is unresponsive losing power all warning lights are displayed on instrument panel. The truck nowstalls at stop lights and runs rough. It has been at two shops the shops have replaced the computer the instrument clusterthe body control module and has checked every wire and has not found any solutions.

I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 pickup truck.in 2005 the dashboard started with some fine line cracks which have gotten longer and larger untilthis year . The dashboard has totally caved in and broken into several large pieces.my concern is with the area beneath the dashboard thatwas now exposed along with the condition of the dashboard.i have experienced a electrical problem of the truck , not starting.like the battery wasdead.i have replaced the battery at least twice and the starter and alternator professionally checked by 3 different mechanics trying to locate the problem.also, we have tried to trace the system for a short.i was wonderingif the caved in dashboard has exposed some wires to the elements.we live in florida and try to amour all moisture the dashboard and use a sun screen for protection.at first i thought it might just be my dodge truck, but my daughter has a 2001 dodge 1500 and the dashboard started cracking for no reason.is this a dodge problem?i happened to catch a news story about this same problem and found that we are not alone, that this seemedto be a problem with the dodge trucks along with potential electrical problems. You can contact [email protected] for more information on the data he has collected concerning this issue.if would seem dodge neededto look in to the problem.

2000 dodge 1500 truck. Less than 3 years old a dash board is cracking all over. Have seen 2 other doing the same and multiple comments on internet about same problems. Contacted dodge dealer, customer relations(800# twice) and e-mail customer site. All said too bad too many mileage on vehicle. What does mileage have to do with dash board cracking. Could not contact anyone above phone representative at 800 number. Said her boss does not take phone call etc.*la
Linkage in steering column will remain in 2nd gear when i haveput it in drive. It has been in mechanics twice. Twice into mechanics regarding antifreeze spilling inside the cab of truck. Repair was on water pump both times. Still having problems with bothconcerns. Resulting in health issues being at risk linkage while in motion on highway. Antifreeze spewing inside cab of truck on windshield, carpet and mats, also center of cab near 4 wheel gear shifter.occurs when stationary or when driving.

Dodge ram 1500 pickups have two expensive/serious problems.(1) the air-conditioner evaporators under the dash fail and (2) the dash itself cracks in several places, so when the ac repairs (involving dash removal) take place, the mechanic tells you he/she has to also replace the dash...which is true.many many complaints of dash cover failures in dodge ram 1500 and other similar vehicles.repairs run $1200 or more.dash should be a recall item.
My dashboard started cracking shortly after i purchased this truck. Now the dash is cracked in a way that if i touch it or if any weight is up on it, it will collapse on itself. The dealer told me that i would have to file a complaint regarding it or pay them a significant amount to remove and replace the dash with a similar dashboard, which may crack and break apart in the future as well. After speaking to the dealer i went to touch the dash, it buckled and pinched my hand from one of the cracks. Pulling my hand up the dash then layered itself.
I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 truck. I purchased it used. When i puchased my truck the dashboard had two hierline cracks in it and i thought nothing about it. Over the last 8 months, my dashboard has been falling apart. Now i have cracks all over it and pieces coming off. There is a 10" hole on the drivers side. It is cavening in a little more everyday. I have done nothing to cause this problem. My father informed me of an orlando, fl news station (local 6) that has done an investigation on this problem and though their website and news articles i was directed here. I'm reporting my problem so i can have it documented.

The lights do not illuminate well enough to drive at night. I know that when i search by make and model, there are 17 recalls in which the lights are recalled, yet my truck isn't showing the recalls by the vin.
The dodge ram 1500 4x4 try k needs to be recalled due to bade fram rust and bad body rust and for the bad dash that dodge put in them but let's first. Talk about a safety recall for the bad farms that was used i want my truck fixed and dodge should be made to do so

The headlights on my truck are completely 'blind'.the glass has become so unclear that during darkness not enough light is given up, driving in darkness has become unsafe.at this point i am supporting it by turning the fog lights on.i will be forced to replace the head lights to continue to be safe.this does not seem to be isolated to my truck as i am noticing similar discolorations of the head lights on other trucks of same dodge model and year.

I was driving my 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 truck on interstate going 70 mph and started to slow down due to exit traffic.when i applied my brakes my truck went into acceleration. No cruise was on.kept applying brakes and truck kept acceleration.kept applying brakes and finally got speed down to 20 mph. I'm in panic mode and not knowing what to do i put the truck in park and then turned the key off.brakes smoked badly.got out of truck to see problem and the throttle was stuck.started truck up again and it did the same thing but this time put gear in neutral and turned key off.unstuck throttle again.i was able to get truck to a mechanic.they checked the throttle kit and it seemed ok (it was not one that was on a recall list).the mechanic didn't really know what caused problem.they put a new kit in and cleaned fuel injectors and it has been running ok.fortunately i was on interstate hwy.if i had been anywhere else i feel certain i would have caused an accident. This caught me by total surprise and not knowing how to handle a vehicle in this situation i feel i was pretty lucky that i didn't burn my brakes up, blow my transmission or get killed.i wish i knew what really caused this problem.
Vehicle starts to hesitate in the middle of a left turn almost shutting off does it cold or warmed up. Takes a long time to get into gear at a stop light or sign and also when it is in park and put into drive.
While driving down the road, the hood latch on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 released. This caused the hood to fly up, crashing into the windshield. The windshield shattered, the hood twisted beyond repair, and the hood springs were completely mangled. I found an article on consumer affairs showing that there have been 30 consumer complaints regarding the same incident. We have filed a claim w/ the insurance company for severe damages.
I bought a 2000 dodge ram 1500 yesterday 12/26/08 as a christmas present for myself and as i was driving home later that day at 10:30 pm and the hood of the truck all of a sudden came up and hit the windshield, causing me to hit the brakes at come to a stop on a busy road.
Approx 15 miles onto the highway at about 55 mph hood suddenly opened and smashed wind shield hood was closed completely and had no rattle or bouncing like it was partially closed upon return home there are pieces of plastic below where the truck was parked.

The contact was attempting to pull over to inspect the failure when the transfer case exploded. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic and as the vehicle arrived, the drive shaft detached from the vehicle. The mechanic was unable to provide a cause for the failure. I was driving down a dirt road at about 35mph. The rear end of my 2000 dodge ram 1500 sport 4x4 started grinding. I started slowing down and the rear drive shaft hit the pavement. I came to a stop and looked under my truck. The rear drive shaft was hanging and the pinion gear was pointed up towards the bed. I tried to move the truck farther off the road and the rear end was froze up. Once i got it to a mechanic we discovered that the pinion nut had backed itself off the pinion gear, causing the pinion gear to get wedged in the other gears.
Driving my vehicle down a city street i started to approach a stop sign. As thevehicle came almost to a stop i heard a scraping noise and then the vehicle abruptly stopped. When i pressed the accelerator pedal the engine would rev and the truck would act like it was in park while in "d". I got out of the truck to inspect and found my driveshaft was no longer attached at the rear of the vehicle, to the transfer case. No abnormal noises were heard prior to this, or any running issues that would have indicated a problem. The truck will not move in forward position, but will roll backwards in neutral. Once i was able to remove the driveshaft from the transfer case and inspect, i found that the pinion nut had backed off and was still encased inside the rear flange attached to the driveshaft & u-joint. Fluid had been blown out and covered all of the rear axle and differential. I was able to roll my vehicle in neutral backwards out of the roadway. We hauled vehicle home using one of our other vehicles and a trailer with a come-a-long wench. Vehicle is still not repaired at this time. I have contacted dodge directly at the dealer as well as through their customer service chat. Both instructed me that nothing could be done at this time. It was suggested that i fix the vehicle and that if a recall was released at a later date then reimbursement could potentially be issued. The reason i contacted dodge was due to the fact that this is a known issue with model years that are slightly newer than my vehicle. A recall was issued for almost 300k vehicles for this exact same complaint. I feel dodge should have done further investigation into how long they had been using this particular design for their rear differential pinion nut and extended the recall further.

Transmission failure, not only on this truck, but on numerous others. There seems like something should be done to correct this problem. Its bad enough to pay the prices for a new vehicle, but to have to replace the transmission is outrageous. I understand that mechanical problems occure, its just seems that there are more transmission problems with dodge than with any other vehicle..

The transmission had to be replaced at 35,000 miles after being taken in for service 4 different times for overheating of the transmission which would cause the o/d to kick off while you were driving.end result found that the ball that controls the flow of the transmission fluid was getting stuck closed, not allowing the fluid to flow.

Lost transmission in normal drive on a flat road , would not shift into any gear ,had the vehicle towed to the dealer and they changed the filter and transmission fluid with no further investigation into the root cause of the problem. I bought a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 truck. It was 2 yrs this may/08, it is now in the transmission shop getting a rebuilt tranny at the tune of $3k. The electronics went out and it was full of metal!!! it had low mileage when i bought and seemed in great shape, boy was i screwed. One week after buying it i called clarke motors in virginia to tell them about this light coming on and they told me it was nothing , just a computer sensor - not to worry about it.it is a [xxx] crime that this company continues to build faulty vehicles and puts the consumer as well as their employees at risk. Where is the class action??? where do i sign up? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Have had to replace transmission twice, making a total of 3 transmissions on a vehicle with less than 75000 miles! the 2nd was 200 miles over the warranty. Daimler/chrysler response... Too bad. Also the dash has cracked , and the rear window leaks. Georgia lemon law is worthless!!
2000 dodge ram, transmission failure, torque convertor and overdrive components under 60,000 miles.automatic transmissions are rated for 150,000 miles, 3 others in the same shop for the same problem

Automatic transmission is very jumpy when shifting between first and second gears, a "whining" noise is coming from rear of vehicle.dealership has examined vehicle, but cannot determine a cause for the problem..
The yellow abs and red brake light comes on intermittently, the brakes don't function properly when the lights are on. Dodge has replace sensors, doesn't fix problem. I'm concerned about safety, and this causing a crash. .also the transmission isn't upshifting from 2nd gear. Nlm
Transmission slipped in and out of gear without warning. Transmission wasreplaced five times; however, the problem still exists.
Consumer is able to put vehicle in gear without pressing the brake pedal.
While driving 25 mph vehicle stop suddenly for no reason. Took to dealer and dealer indicated needed transmission. Please add vin
Dt*:the contact stated while driving various speeds the vehicle stalled without warning.the vehicle was maneuvered off the road and restarted.the dealer replaced the battery cable last week however the problem reoccurred.the dealer ordered a power train control module.
Consumer called complaining about havingtransmission problems.manufacturer was not contacted at the time of this call.
Vehicle experienced a problem with the transmission. When the vehicle is in park and the driver wants to put the vehicle in drive the driver does not have to press down on the brakes before the vehicle will go into drive. Owner took the vehicle back to the dealer, and was informed that this wasa normal function.
Consumerwas able to shift gear indicator without application of brakes, allowing gears to be shifted by mistake at any time while vehiclewas running. Dealer saiditwas normal and part of design.consumer feels manufacturer needs to warn all owners of this.
Dashboard cracking becoming severe.many cracks over the complete dash board top surface.this may be related.....possible chemical reaction - per dealer.fumes from the transmission overflow seep into driver compartment.the dashboardengine light comes on periodically.transmission functions fine but dealer says the torque convert is slipping at lock up causing a no-lockup slippage condition after 8 seconds.dealer says i probably should replace the transmission completely and replace the dash at my cost.total would be about what the value of the 1500 book is when they got done.i hardly tow anything but a small boat.it spits out fluid out the overflow over a period of time.have installed a transmission cooler but condition, slight odor and spilling continued.repeated flashing the computer only popped up the acceleration a little but has not made any other changes.gas mileage is way down 10.4 mpg highway.

Dt:the contact stated while drivingat 55 mph the transmission stopped pulling.there was no warning; there had been no prior problems with the transmission.the vehicle was towed to the contact'sresidence.he contacted a mechanic, who statedit sounded like the torque converter went out.however, the vehicle has not been to a mechanic at this time and no repairs have been done. The van would jerk badly when put into drive and when sitting at a red light or stop sign it would begin to lurch forward requiring me to press hard on the brakes.after 8 days in the dealership and numerous calls from the service rep.saying that they keep finding more problems with the transmission.after i got it home i noticed that the invoice showed that one of the parts that had been replaced was the torque convertor and that it had been replacedwith a remanufactured one.this van had only 3762 miles on it when the original transmission failed.how safe will it be for me to drive my small grandchildren around in a new vehicle with a rebuilt transmissionwhen the original transmission failed with only 3700 miles on it.the customer service rep. Advised me that the she would contact the regional rep. To meet with me .it has been three days and no one has contacted me yet. Noonerhrgrnufactured acedinbn.
Both doors rusted out on the bottom of my 2000 dodge ram 1500 quad cab.
The engine of my vehicle has a bad vibration between 1000-1500 rpm.the dealer has replaced the following components after three seperate visits: fan clutch, torque converter, flex plate, harmonic balancer, transmission mount to crossmember, and changed the entire exhaust system to a 1997 version.i filed a lemon law claim with the manufacturer, however they now state it is a normal problem.a motor vibration will cause the engine to fail prematurely ie; broken crankshaft, or other internal components rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate and undrivable.the problem occurs when driving, in neutral, and park.repairs attempted by the dealer have not corrected the problem.
A dash board cover glued (well siliconed over the top of old dashboard. Make sure the entire surface is sealed to cover because deteriationwill continue and it will collaps e into lower dashboard area. Hint: genosgarage.com .transmission and torque converter,"check thetire size. If not same as on the door post you have found the problem. If not the same the speed sensor which should be replace anyhow , and you can do this.are not reading incorrectly because of tires being larger than originally specified and/or towing something in overdrive. Check manual. Torque converter not in total lock up causingslirpage.need the 'proper' computer code analyzer.slippage will also be in the transmission before replacing the transmission, flush it and the torque converter. Replace d stated sensors, filter. Then had computer flashed properly.note: when tires seized changed it and effected computer. The speed sensor and tps give wrong signal. Wear and tear, ie; time and towing, eventually an eight second slippage will occur and trip the computer thus the warning light. Hard acceleration will cause the transmission to bang in and out and try to down shift (tps and speed sensor).dodge did "not" flash computer properly when the tire size was changed, therefore the problem.most dodge dealerships cannot proberly "flash" computer.important;need to find shop that can flash it with correct tire size not a generic setting. Dealerships will not tell you this don't know.a specialty shop that deals in all dodge truckss. This is not restricted to just the 1500."flash with the proper tire size"if the slippage continues and light comes on after highway runs or towing again, you very well may have to replace the torque comverter.
When drivingvehicle pulled to the left. Dealer said it was the rear axle assembly. Dealer couldn't solve problem.
Front and rear axle seals leaking on drivers side.rubbing sound on front wheel when cornering.drove straight to mechanics when sound heard. Front wheel bearing was bad causing sound, was told it was very dangerous to drive. Replaced axle seals at time of wheel bearing.while replacing rear axle seals mechanics found a retaining washer half shattered in rear differential that holds the clutch plates solid for the anti-spin differential.was told that if any more shatters off this could have dire consequences, including having the rear axle lock up solid while driving. Must have repaired immediately.
The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, there was a squealing noise from the rear of the vehicle. I have a 2000 dodge ram 4x4. My truck had 56,000 miles on it when the posi unit in the rear end exploded and tore up the gearing in the rear end. I was driving the truck down i-95 when this happed i did not know anything was wrong i got off 95 and thank god i did about a mile down lantana road i lost control of the steering and the rear tire started locking up. There were 3 of us in the truck if this would have happened on i-95 i dont know if we would still be here. Dodge built these trucks knowing there was a defect in the rear end along with mine there were 5 others with in miles of each other all with the same rear end problem. I contacted dodge and ask them why this problem hasd not been fixed or recalled there answer was they did not care. This is a major problem in dodge rams with a posi rear end we got lucky but what about the other millions who have one of these trucks. My truck is a 2000 and i think the problem was finally corrected in 2003. So this problem is in 96-98 to 2002 thats a lot of trucks barreling down the streets that at any given moment the drivers can lose total control of with out any warning. Think of the accidents a 1/2 ton or 3/4 tun truck will cause when you cant steer it or if you lose the rear axle and your tires go rolling down the road with out the truck. Dodge should be responsable for this and to fix all these trucks. How many people have to die or already have because of this problem. Like i was told by many people " we got lucky" but there are those that wont.

The contact stated that he was involved in a minor crash while driving up a hill.the bottom of the front bumper fell on the road and caused the vehicle to stop. The contact stated that the passenger was injured.she suffered a dislocated broken sternum.the police responded but did not file a report.the owner discovered that the passenger and the driver side front seat belts had also failed during the crash. The belts did not lock in place. The owner believed that the reason for the passenger was injured was because the seat belts failed to function properly.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced both seat belts at chryslers expense.the mechanic tested the new belts and the new drivers side belt was also defective and would not lock. The dealer ordered another seat belt and it appeared to function normally. The failure mileage was approximately 109,795. The current mileage is 120,000. I went to change my front pads (for the 3rd time in 15 months) and noticed that yet again, one of my calipers was stuck and one of the piston diaphrams was torn. I replaced the caliper, put in my new pads, bled the system, and my brake pedal goes all the way to the floor, the vehicle is driveable, but my stopping distance has greatly reduced. I have to pump the pedal 2-3 times for the brakes to grab. If i stab on them, them pedal will travel all the way to the floor and then the rear wheels will lock up and the front brakes dont work at all. I replaced the master cylinder and the problem still persists. Dealership has absolutely no idea what the problem could be, and niether do any of the local shops.

Brake disc fell out of vehicle, contacted dodge. Dodge said too bad, contacted kendall karns service manager at dealership. His comment was "this is normal for the brake disc to fall out" too bad its not our fault, but we will repair it at your cost. Dodge seams to think that brake discs just fall out of vehicles. Please be careful with your loved ones in your dodge vehicle you might not have brakes the next time you stop. But this would be your fault not dodges.

I have 2000 dodge ram pickup that has four wheel drive and 37,000 miles on the odometer.at approximately 15,000 miles, i began to notice a clunking sound coming from the front of the vehicle and it became hard to keep it from wandering.i used the internet to find ways of checking the front end components and found that this is a common problem with these trucks.using the information that i found on the internet, i have determined that the ball joints, trac bar, and steering stabilizer are all defective.likewise, the transmission is starting to give me problems in reverse gear.i have collected information that shows all of these problems going back many years.how can a manufacturer be allowed to continue making faulty products knowing that they are jeopardizing the safety of people?i cannot afford to get this truck fixed and am afraid to drive it.is dodge being held accountable for repairs since this is a safety related issue that they have known about for years?
Violent convulsive bouncing shaking wobbling movement in the front suspension and steering at moderate to high speeds.
I've only owned the truck for about 8 months at this time. About 1 month ago i experienced what my research has shown to be the dodge death wobble, this is where one of the front wheels hits a bump in the road at freeway speed and the front end oscillates violently and will not stop without slowing the vehicle down and radically moving the steering wheel from center (straight line). If left to "wobble" it seems that the vehicle would shake itself to death!! maybe even break a steering/suspension component. I did try installing the enhanced brace that ties the sway bar mounts/anchor points to a new bearing supporting an extension on the pittman arm shaft and i also had the front end components checked, aligned and tires balanced to no avail, though the brace kit seemed to help. It is hard to predict when a bump in the road will set it off but the last time it happened i barely kept it from pulling into the next lane before i got it slowed and controlled. I now try to minimize my time on the freeway in my commute to/from work.
Uncontrollable wheel shake (death wobble), until you come to complete stop which the violent shaking in turn affects how i brake. Chrysler revised the steering set up and kept it a secret until you made a complaint even then they just say you need to replace all steering components mean while what they install is nothing like what was there. Chrysler should be responsible for poor engineering- this can hurt someone one day and would rather see it not.violent wheel shake i mean violent. If a product is designed wrong and manufacture creates a fix for so called design flaw then there should be a recall.http://blog.dieselpowerproducts.com/dodge-front-end-issues-and-the-dreaded-death-wobblethis link contains chryslers revised parts.
Steering in my 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 is very unsafe.it is not responsive, and seems very loose.it has been this way since the day i purchased the vehicle, and the dealer says this is "normal".the truck will wander all over the lane, and when i try to correct it, goes completely the other way, and this to me is dangerous.there is lots of play in the steering wheel, and again the dealer tells me this is "normal". *nlm

I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500, 2 wheel drive. As i looked through your site i found a recall on the suspension of the right control arm. About 1 year ago the truck the truck needed tie rod ends according to the dealership. A loud squeaking was to be fixed by the tie rod ends. Once in the shop i received a call saying that the right control arm had a bad bushing and to replace the rubber bushing i needed to replace the whole control arm. No one person could tell me why. According to your recall, my bad tie rod ends, shocks, and control arm are a result of a bad axle.the dealership claims this all happened from the control going bad.the truck had only 100,000 miles at the time, this cost me 1,500.00.the truck is now starting to have the same noises as a year ago.could this be the recurring problem, should i just keep replacing the right side control arm. My truck is all road miles,no four wheeling, no towing, no accidents.what you have pointed out i feel is more prevalent than 76 vehicles.i contacted the dealership, they stated there is no recall of this kind for my truck, then why is it with you people and why is it exactly as you have stated. I feel you are right,i feel there is a problem, i also feel putting on new control arms does not fix the problem which i feel is returning and i fear another 1,500.00 bill is on it's way. Pleasehelp!*la
While turing front tie rods separated.dealer has inspected and repaired the vehicle. Vin indicates that make is ford truck, model f150 and year 2000. *yd
The tie rod snapped making it hard to control the steering wheel. Dealer has been notified.ph
2000 dodge ram 1500 dash cracking.
For the last few years i have watched my dashboard slowly deteriorate. It started with small hairline cracks that have evolved into huge cracks. Every bumb causes the cracked sections to cave in, requiring me to lift those sections with a screw driver. I take very good care of my truck, cleanin and polishin it twice a month. I receive compliments from people telling me that my truck looks as if it was just drivin out of a show room except for my dashboard.i'm terrified to think of what might happen if some sharp pieces were to fly in my or my passengers eyes in the event of an impact. ( please) bring this matter to dodge's attention, lets not wait for a statistic to make us think, yea, we should have done something about it.
2000 dodge ram 1500 lariame slt- dashboard is cracking in multiple pieces and looks as if will eventually come apart exposing vital internal electrical parts. I think that this faulty part and chyrsler needs to recall /replace these dashboards. The cost for labor is outrageous because of how parts were constructed. Air bag is located in the dashboard, i wonder if this will deploy or be damaged by the continuation of the cracking of the dashboard located surrounding and above it.
Driving at approx. 25 mph an a residential street, i hit a pothole.the dashboard, which was badly cracked as a result of manufacturer defect, suffered catastrophic failure, collapsing in pieces.the bezel fell forward, obstructing the gauges, and two pieces fell near the pedals.i was able to pull over without further incident.
Cracked dashboard, many cracks developed over time, it's about to crack wide open and expose wires.
Cracks on my dash board are spreadin on my 2000 dodge ram....... Its a saftey concern i have
The dashboard of my 2000 dodge ram 1500 has at least 20 cracks in it with one large hole from pieces falling in.i understand that this has become a huge issue with dodge owners, but daimer-chrysler has done nothing to resolve the issue.i have not contacted a dealership local to me as i have seen all too often that owners are being rejected by them.where is our protection as consumers?
I have a 2000 dodge pickup. The dashboard has been cracking in several laces over the last few years. It keeps getting worse every time i look at it. I contacted dodge and they told me to get an estimate from my local dealer. When i contacted them back with the estimate i was told there was nothing they could do about it. I know i'm not the only one with this problem. Hopefully there will be a recall after they get there bailout money.
Dashboard crack on 2000 dodge ram 1500 series. Crack started small about 5 months ago and has now engulfed entire dash. Numerous cracks have developed unrelated to original crack. Dashboard is now ready to cave in. Cracks emanate over entire surface of dash from driver to passenger side.
Cracked dash falling apart.
2000 dodge ram cracked dashboard, i'm worried about wiring problems. I heard someone had their lights go out at night.duck tape is the only thing holding parts of my dashboard from falling completely apart.
There are multiple cracks of various sizes on the dash of my 2000 dodge ram. I am concerned that the dash is going to start collapsing causing damage to wiring in under the dash, however, more importantly it poses a risk of passenger airbag failure due to possible puncture. When not being driven the dash has always been protected and is not the result of any accident. This needs to be rectified by the manufacturer before someone is seriously injured due to poor quality parts.
I have a 2000 dodge ram truck and the dash is all cracked. I called dodge customer care and they cant do anything are don't want to do anything. It isthere fault they should fix it.
The dashboard developed 2 large cracks in it. I am worried about flying debris from this if there was a crash in this truck.
I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4wd quad cab model. Due to an apparent defect in the quality of the dash pieces, there are several major cracks running the total depth of my dash panel.dodge will not replace the dash as a defect product which could cause safety issues.
Dash shatters after time. I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 and the plastic dash shattered. It is very dangerous, because the fragments are very sharp. I have done some research and there are literally hundreds of people with the same complaint. The dash should be replaced with one that is not so susceptible to cracking. This defect certainly could have the effect of causing serious injury or death in even a minor accident.
The dash on my dodge ram 1500 is completly falling apart. This started when this truck had 30,000 miles but now the wiring ,controling radio, speakers lights, etcis being affected - this has now became a safety hazard.
2000 dodge ram my dash has cracked andimploded. Pieces of plastic hit me in the face while i was driving and now my airbag light is on. I had to swerve tothe side of the road with blood gushing from head. I'm lucky tobe alive.
My 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 has a cracked dash on the top behind the passenger side air bag.after research this is a common problem wit this model.when is chrysler going recall this?after a broken piece of the dash severs the wires to your airbag?no wonder they are about to go under...
Cracked dashboard on passenger side.this seems to be a large complaint from many dodge owners for 2000 and 2001 dodge ram's.although my dash has not yet "sunk in" as others have reported i fear that if the cracks develop further it could damage the wiring and connections below.the current cracks are right above the airbag on the passenger side.
Cracked dash on 2000 dodge ram 1500 truck. Cracks started to appear, no accident or abuse. Dash was cleaned periodically with appropriate cleaner, protector. Cracks just started appearing and continue to advance for no apparent reason.
My 2000 dodge ram 1500 has a cracked dash that i thought nothing of for the longest time, of course i wasn't happy with the fact i had a cracked dash, but once i realized that it could actually affect my airbag at deployment it became an immediate concern.
I bought a used 200 dodge ram 1500 4x4 and the dash has a hole in it and is caving in to the dash itselfi believe if i were in a accident that parts from the dash would injure someone as they are already broken.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 and the dash is brittle and breaking into about twenty different pieces.i have been advised that these small pieces could maim or kill when the air bag deploys.
The dashboard is cracked and caving in.there are large pieces of the dash just crumbling.i have read hundreds of complaints by other consumers with the same problem.obviously a factory defect with cheap plastic.dodge states the dash is "upholstery" and is not covered under any warranty.
There was a news story on 5/1/07 about people's dash cracking and caving in on there 2001 dodge ram trucks. I own a 2000 dodge ram truck 1500 and have had the same issues with the dash cracking in several places. My father-in-law owns a 1999 dodge 2500 and has the same problem. I would like to know if dodge is aware of the problem and if the plan on having a recall to correct this problem.
I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. Over time the top dash has been crumbling to pieces however now it has completely collapsed in. This concerns me because i have looked for recalls on poor manufacturing for this and have found none. Now the instrument panel is rattling around and i'm concerned that it may fall in my lap while driving down the road as i have read several complaints of this happening. I have looked into replacing it myself but the cost is ridiculous and i feel that dodge should have to repair and replace their own poor quality dash. If this isn't enough now the plastic hinges snapped in two which made that fall off the dash.please help not only me but other dodge owners get what they have rightfully paid for, not poor quality manufacturing.
The dashboard has cracks all over, and is brittle.
Dash cover has self destructed into many jagged and broken pieces. I have had pieces drop into the dash and my biggest concern is that in event of an accident this will come loose with impact or be propelled by the deployment of the airbags and become missiles inside of the vehicle.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500.the dashboard is cracked extremely bad and dodge has no interest in helping repair this problem.there are many other ram owners in my area with the same problem.
2000 dodge ram dash cracking and falling in.i had to purchase a new dash from dodge for over $350 dollars.
The dash started cracking on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 in mid 2005. It was never parked in the sun, so i couldn't figure out why it was cracking. I pointed it out when i took my truck to the dealership for an oil change and was told that it would cost $1400 to replace. I couldn't afford that so just hoped for the best. The cracks continued to spread, and then earlier this year the whole passenger side of the dash caved in. There is a huge hole where the dash used to be. I had no idea this was a chronic problem with this particular truck until i found this website. I believe this is a safety issue as there is now exposed wiring where the dash used to be. Dodge should be held responsible and fix this.
The dashboards of our dodge survey truck have failed and had to be replaced at our expense. Not only have the dashboards failed but the transmissions as well, and again replaced at our expense.
2000 dodge ram 1500 pick up.. Broken dash and falling apart.. Just started to crack and crumble away..
The dashboard in my 2000 dodge ram cracked to pieces.i have learned this is a common problem with this model vehicle.
Dash cracks, fell apart.
Multiple, large , deep cracks in the dash of my 2000 dodge ram. Defective material without any recalls on it from dodge. Eventual holes will develop, which lead to other problems, and safety concerns.
Dash has 2 large cracks that start at the window defroster .
2000 dodge ram with a cracked dashboard. Consumer would like to know if there are any recalls out on this vehicle for the cracked dashboard.
While warming my truck up on a cold morning i turned on the windshield defrost once the truck was warm. I heard cracking and popping. When i turned the defrost fan off i noticed the dash had cracked into approx 24 pieces causing the dash to fall onto the wires. When i contacted dodge i was told that they were aware of the issue however there had been no recall but they could replace the dash for $900. I looked at molded dash overlays to repair the problem but there is nothing left to adhere it to.
Dodge truck dashboard has many cracks and exposes wiring harness to sharp broken pieces.
My dash has a giantic crack in it, and it's becoming worse.i am very concerned about it b/c of the airbags.they can get ripped.
My dash board for no reason started cracking while my truck was still under warranty, but nobody would take responsibility for this problem. Now the problem has escalated to the point of parts of my dash board is actually falling out. It is cracked over the entire dash board and is starting to spread futher. I am concerned that this problem isn't going to stop until my dash board is falling in my lap. The way i look at it is, a 2000 model vehicle that i paid over $20,000 for should not be having this problem in only 3 years! someone should be responsible for this problem and it shouldn't be me!
Cracked dashboard on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 - apparently due to inferior materials being used in dodge's dashboards, and which they refuse to fix due to it "not being a safety issue". I disagree, someone could be seriously injured by sharp plastic shrapnel during an airbag deployment. Mileage and warranty status of affected trucks should be irrelevant as this is a manufacturing defect.
Dashboard began to fracture about a year ago, 11-06'. It has steadily worsened until driving the other day on interstate thedash made a noise and we seen there was a large hole dropped out of the thing as a sink hole would. I am concerned it could damage or deploy the airbags or other wiring or devices. It is nearly fractured enough in several other places to cause more collapsing of the dash.nothing yet done to replace or repair.
2000 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. Cracks forming across dash board, origin appears to be defrost vents at and along windshield.
Upper dash panel has cracked severely in several locations, mostly originating from around the defroster duct. I am concerned about this causing a blockage of defrosting air while driving, especially in northern us climates.
Dash board of 2000 dodge ram 1500 completely cracked and falling apart to the point of turning off passenger airbag for fear of it literally exploding the dash if it goes off.
The dashboard in my 2000 dodge ram 1500 slt has been slowly cracking for the past 6 years or so and has now a sizeable hole from a piece breaking off. My concern is the "dry insulation" that causes dust to filter into my ventilation system and blows into the cab for me and my passengers to breath. Not healthy at all. This product should be recalled or paid for a replacement.there is no solution other than to replace.
(1) dash cracked premature(2) failure due to poor manufacturing resulted in cut to hand and torn sleeve. Possible tear to air bag if deployed.(3) dodge has done nothing to repair this defect.
The upper dash on my 2000 dodge truck started cracking.the vehicle has been garaged ever since new and very rarely taken out during daytime. Mostly at night.heat and sun are not to blame.vehicle has only 52,000 miles on it.this vehicle is babied.i am the original owner.
Dash in my 2000 dodge ram 1500 is falling apart, and where it's cracked edges are like razor blades.
Goodyear invecta gl tires experience uneven and premature wear, dealer states tires are wrong type for vehicle, dodge states tires are correct, tires caused vibration and caused vehicle to drift, tire size p235/75r15.bezle was loose on driver door panel, rear doors leaked, dealer adjusted and aligned both rear doors due to excessive gap. Vehicle experienced coolant leak.consumer hears wind noise.air conditioner would not cool properly.there is a loud noise from the exhaust.vehicle gets poor gas mileage, only gets around 9 miles per gallon.
Cracked dash could pop air bag.
Dash is cracked all over and has cracked into passenger air bag cover.
This is a dodge 1500 2000. I bought this used and it did have a hair crack in the dash. Within 6 months this hair crack turned into more than a dozen throughout the dash with the area of the vent starting to fall through. Could this be a hazard.
Dodge dashboard cracked and disintegrated. 2000 ram 1500 5.2 liter. The whole dash fell apart. Safety issues are the sharp jagged razor sharp edges, and structural integrity of dash assembly. Function of air bag is in question. I took after market dash cover, used it for a mold and laid up a new dash with fiber glass. Will not purchase new/used dash board as the problem appears to be chronic, poor quality abs is the cause. Will not risk a repeat incident.
Dash falling aprt deterioating.
The dash on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 pickup started cracking a few years ago. The cracks have managed to meet and now entire shards of sharp hard plastic are falling into my dash and also protruding from my dash. They could easily injure someone. I have read in many forums that this appears to be a very common issue for this model truck. I have not replaced the dash yet because i do not know if the replacement dash would have the same problem since this issue has not been addressed by the manufacture. This is a very dangerous problem.
2000 dodge ram 1500 in 2005 the dash started to get cracks in it. There are now large pieces that are sharp and ready to brake loose.
The dash board of my 2000 dodge ram pickup is falling apart. It now has huge holes in it everywhere exposing the interior of the dash components and systems.i have been to several local dealers who all say that they want nearly $1500 to replace the dash and that it is not a recalled item so i have to pay for it.there is definitely something wrong here!
I purchased a used 2000 dodge ram 1500 in november 2006.at the time of purchase there were no visible defects.however, since that time the dash has cracked and collapsed almost entirely.the left front speaker and air conditioner no longer work.there was no impact or trauma that brought it on.it was at first a small crack on the passenger side that spread towards the driver side.we now have a gaping hole through middle and right side of dash with new cracks developing on the driver side.
I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4. The dash board is cracking. If this continuesthe dash will fall down. I believe dodge should recall these trucks & repair them...
Upper dashboard is cracking. The first crack appeared in 2004 and has since increased in size to 6". The second major crack appeared in may 2006 and has split to 7". The second split goes right into the airbag enclosure.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 pickup truck, just a few years after normal use the plastic trim and mainly the dashboard just cracked and pieces have been falling off exposing the wiring and electrical systems to the scorching sun. How many complaints does it take for our government to step up and order a recall. The dashboard and all the plastic trim in this vehicles is of poor quality, just do a research on google and you'll find how many people have the same problem , it's on every dodge vehicle from 1998 till 2005, it just broke sitting in the driveway i have parts of the dash missing exposing the electrical to the sun. I'll have to purchase a new dashboard and pay $300.00 for it and $400.00 to have it installed.
Dash board caved in. Now frame that holds the instrument panel, fan controls, and light controls is broke and brittle. The dash board has tendancy to tilt toward me when accelerating.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500. The dashboard on my truck is cracking. It's not only cracking it's falling apart. The pieces of dash "sharp plastic" is falling down into where electrical wiring is. Plus these pieces of dashboard is very sharp. This is a safety hazard. This is a serious problemthat need to be address. It's been an ongoing problem for sometime since 2006 and continues to get worst.
2000 dodge ram 1500 the dash has cracked and is completly disinagrating. I am afraid that this could effect my air bags.
2000 dodge ram 1500 truck - cracked dashboard.talked with local car dealer service department and asked if they had any recalls or if they had heard of any other problems with the dashboards. I was told none that they have heard of and that they could do nothing about the problem because it was out of warranty.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 sport and the dash looks like somebody put a hand grenade on it and blew it up. It started cracking about 4 years ago and today there are more pieces of it broken off than there are still intact. I didn't think it was a very common problem but it is extremely common. I like dodge but i would be ashamed if i were them for making something so cheap built and then not standing behind it to fix or replace it. That's not good for business especially for return customers. I think it could also be a safety risk. If those razor sharp dash pieces are launched off the dash fast enough, they could slice right through you. They should grow a set and replace these dashes!!!
Severely cracked dashboard leading to large holes.
2000 dodge ram 1500 with a disintegrating dash.we bought it used with a tiny crack in the dash, had no idea it was such a major problem.in a few short months, the dash has started disintegrating before our eyes.large jagged chunks are breaking off, opening up the whole dash, even around the air bags.i am concerned that if there is a crash, the air bags either wont work or the dash will break off into a million shards and kill us.this is ridiculous! my son actually cut his finger picking up something from the dash the other day!
The entire dashboard becomes brittle and falls apart. It is very thin to start. When i call around to buy a replacement dashboard at local junk yards,i'm told that if i can find one, i should play the lottery, that's letting me know that it is a large problem that affects all the trucks. I personally know 6 people with the same year trucks that all have the same problem.
Dash developed cracks after second year after purchase, one above air bag chamber, and the other above speed meter. ,and eventually fractured into multipleparts during the following years..decided to remove it, as parts were falling down into the empty space under the dash top, and making rattling noises.this material is defective.internet sources, television news broadcasts site thousands across country having same issues.why has no recall been performed on this defective product? the risks of possible injury, from moisture from leaks or other sources could cause interference with electrical circuits.i will take steps to replace this dash myself, with suitable protection, as the manufacturer has not showed any concern towards its customers, or offered a solution.buying the same kind of dash, made of the same defective material is not the solution, as many have done this, and have the same issue.
Purchased my 2000 dodge ram 1500 in 2005 and it already had a cracked dash. There were holes as large as a notebook in the dash and i am still finding pieces to the dash that are falling onto the floor. The crack goes from the passenger side airbag to the windshield and several holes as large as my fist on the drivers side.
2000 dodge ram 1500 truck, 5.9l, auto, single cab, slt.dash is cracked and falling to pieces.dodge denies any problems that would warrant them reimbursing me for the dash.i paid out of pocket for a new dash panel that i have to install.windshield has always had a shade in it, and almost never have products such as armor all or other interior products been used on it.for the record, i also have a 1996 dodge ram 1500, with a perfect dash.98-01 rams had the updated dashes that are the ones cracking on many people's vehicles.
Plastic dash and facia has cracked and is breaking off in large pieces leaving very sharp edges on dash and facia.
The dash on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 has cracked in about 8-10 places. It is starting to fall and leave holes in the dash.
Major cracks and pieces falling off the dashboard top exposing dashboard electronics.
The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram 1500. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracking and had a hole just above the instrument panel. The dealer stated that they could replace the dashboard but since there was no recall and the warranty had expired they would not repair it at no cost. The contact stated that due to the numerous complaints that the manufacturer should issue a recall. The failure mileage was 149,000.
The entire top dash is cracked and the dash around the gauges is also cracking. It rattles pieces are starting to come loose and expose wiring. It is a safety issue due to sharp edges and flying pieces in the event of an accident, some may be smashed into someone's face by the airbag. This has been getting worse over time.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 truck. The entire dash has several cracks throughout it and parts of it are starting to cave in. I see where many people are having the same problem. This is poor construction. I have contacted dodge and they wont back their product. The vehicle has only been driven 8k-10k a year.
Dash board had crumbled and fall off from the dash. Now there is an open space at my dash. It is unfair they made this kind of dash board weak and selling it at the cost of $800.00 dlls to replace it. We pay for a truck that is build to last. And still here we have a dash that just broke by adding armor and a rag to clean it up. Still they put commercials that is the best truck with the best warranty and failed to replace it.
The dashboard on my 2000 dodge ram 4x4 1500 truck has been cracking for quite some time.after researching the problem on the internet, i have observed that there are several people having the same problem.i too am now concerned that the dashboard breaking apart and potentially collapsing is a safety hazard and could affect the airbags and/or electrical systems of the truck possibly causing injury to any driver/occupants of the vehicle.i believe this is a problem that dodge should recall and repair.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 truck. The entire dash has several cracks throughout it and parts of it are starting to cave in. I see where many people are having the same problem. This is poor construction. I have contacted dodge and they wont back their product. The vehicle has been garage kept since 2002 and is typically only driven 8k-10k a year.
I owna 2000 dodge ram 1500, the dashboardwas severly cracking, andhad a few pieces break loose. Luckly the pieces didnt hit me. These cracks apeared about 3 yrs ago, and have gotten alot worse. I could find no solution but to replace the top part of the dashboardthat was cracking at a cost of $850.00 installed.
`like thousands of other dodge ram owners, i have a severely cracking and collapsed dashboard in my 2000 ram 1500.the cracking started around 60kmi and had started on the passenger side originating from the bolts securing the upper dash to the inside firewall.eventually a crack will form from all of the bolts, with some crack connecting with others causing pieces of the dash to collapse. Once this happens, the upper (5) bolts will be providing no support to any part of the dash, except for those pieces directly connected to the bolts.this vehicle was assembled in the mexico plant.i believe that the problem is with the installation. My theory is that when the dash is originally installed, the dash is rested upon (2) bolts at the bottom under the side kickplates and then the top (5) are used to bring the dash into its final resting position. While doing this, there may still be residual forces on those top bolts pulling the dash down even after the (2) lower bolts are tightened. The procedure should be to push or hold the dash in place until the lower (2) bolts are tightened and then the top (5) bolts are there only to secure the upper dash only. I would like to recommend installing a center shimmy brace that would be used to position the assembly in the final resting position that would connect between the dash subframe and the inside firewall. Once in position the dash the lower (2) bolts can be torqued. Then the (5) top bolts would not be attempting to hold the dash in place.i consider this a safety hazard during an event where the passenger side airbag is deployed and potential sharp pieces of the cracked dashboard are thrown about the cab area.
A crack was noticed on the top of the dash on the passenger side. Over time a piece of the top of the dash has dropped down inside the dash. A crack is extending slowly toward the drivers side of the dash.
Dashboard has numerous cracks.
2000 dodge ram with the famous cracking dash problem.started as a single crack over a year ago and now pieces are falling in the dash and the entire dash has cracks all through it.the entire dash is ready to fall in.i contacted dodge's 800 number and have to take it to the dealer and then call dodge back to see what they will do.
2000 dodge ram 1500 truck. Consumer writes regarding cracks in the vehicle dashboard *tgw
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. This is my 4th dodge ram truck and i have never had this problem before. I first noticed a small crack in the corner and then another, and another...now i can probably fita basketball or something in there the hole is so big. This is absolutely crazy. You pay $30,000 for a vehicle and then you tell the dealership about it and they don't want any part of it except to try and sell you another new vehicle. I have called and complained to the corporation and they want nothing to do with it either.i am not sure of the exact date of when this happened, but it was around the same time that my clear coat came off my truck as well, that i used to wash every other week and take very excellent care of. They told me the problem of the dash and the paint was because my truck was black and i lived in florida. When i let them know that this was my 4th dodge truck and i have owned all of them in fl, one was red and the other 3 were all black as well and they never had any problems, they just got really quiet and tried to change the subject. When i wouldn't let them and kept pushing the issue, they never had an answer for me and basically blew me off. Pretty sad when you think about it, you spend that much money on a vehicle and you take excellent care of it and then it falls apart because they use crappy parts of something and they don't even care. Myself and my step dadtalked to the guy who sold me the vehicle (phil bobbit) and he told me that he would "take care of it for me" and to just bring it into the paint and body and they would fix it up for me. Well when we showed up for that they looked at me like i had a third eye or something. They knew nothing about this discussion with phil. Then i left several messages for him and he never returned my calls.
Dashboard collapse resulting in electrical short.
Excessive cracking of the dashboard and instrument cluster bezel material.numerous cracks have developed completely through the materia, l leaving sharp edges exposed.cracks first appeared in 2005.they quickly propagated throughout the entire dashboardand bezel area.
2000 dodge ram 1500 cracked dashboard. I have wires exposed the airbag can be seen, pieces of plastic fall and fly around the car daily.updated 03/12/10
We owe a 2000 dodge ram 1500 and the dashboard is all cracked. We have tried to stop the cracking using glue but it is a waste of time. It gets worse and worse.
My dash boar dhas cracked and is falling in.i'm scared it might catch fire with all the wires in the dash.y back window leaked every time it rained so i had to replace it with a after market one for $325.00.my truck some times makes a whinny noise in reverse and i was told that is how dodges are.know some times when i stop and go to take off the transmission won't catch and i look at the rpms and it's showing no rpms but the truck is running.i had the truck put on the machine and nothing came up being wrong.
Severely cracked dash. Falling apart for no apparent reason.
Dashboard is cracking and will not safely support deployment of a passenger airbag.
The dashboard is falling apart. It is cracked in multiple places and could turn into sharp flying objects if airbags are deployed.
2000 dodge ram 1500 with cracking dash. Consumer would like to know what could be done about this problem. He states that the dash is cracking and collapsing.

I have a dodge ram 1500 p/u truck bought new in 2000. In 2004 the dash board began cracking in multiple places. According to local dodge dealership my truck was out of warranty and this was expected in the florida sun. Within 6 months after the crack started, the middle of the dash caved in - the entire dashboard is now very brittle. I do not feel a dashboard should only last just outside the warranty period. The replacement cost of the dash from dodge was $1000+. How do i proceed with this issue. This is not fair to the many dodge customers.
My 2000 dodge ram 1500 dash has a big hole in itand the rest of the dash is cracking. If it keeps cracking i wont have a dash left. They should be replaced at no cost to us .someone is going to get hurt and it makes me wonder if the airbags will even work and if they do will pieces of the dash brake off and hit someone in theface. Chrysler should replace the dashes before something like that happens.im thing about getting a new truck, but if chrysler doesn't fix the dashes it wont be a dodge.
I purchased a 2000 dodge ram 1500 pickup truck in the summer of 2007. Since then it has developed large cracks in the dash and some of those cracks have led to big holes.on the outside it looks like a cosmetic problem, but in the event of an accident, it could pose a safety risk with pieces of dash flying everywhere.this is not an isolated complaint,i have found hundreds of others with the same problem from chrysler/dodge products.
Entire top of dash developed several large cracks within few years of purchase.
The dash board cracked across the top. The consumer was concerned because the air bag could deploy.please provide any further information.
The dash is caving inmy dodge ram 1500 pick up, which is causing ac problems, and electrical problems...this should be a recall item there are thousands of complaints with the same issue on the internet why isn't dodge doing something about their manufacturer mistake with the plastic in the dashes, these are not just cracks these dashes are disintegrating before your eyes.....
Dash is cracking on my 2000 dodge truck 1500 ,would like my dash replaced don't want a hole in my dash causing headlight to go out this could be a safety issue.
No matter what i do to take care of it the dash just keeps cracking more and more. There are rattles in the dash from the pieces that have broken off. I fear that some day the dash is going to break loose while i am driving causing my foot to get stuck on the accelerator.
2000 dodge 1500 quad cab 4x4 dashboard cracking. The vehicle has 82k on it. It has be garaged since purchase. The dashboard is falling apart though there has never been any damage to the vehicle.
2000 dodge ram 1500.dashboard is severely cracked in several places.vehicle never involved in any accidents. I feel that cracked dashboard could pose an additional hazard in the event of air bag deployment.
I was wiping down the dashboard and large pieces broke off in my hand.
My dash board started to crack about a year and a half ago. Noticed small hairline cracks that have now turned into large holes, with pieces of the dash falling in. Have been told nothing could be done. No incidence on my part could have caused this.
The dashboard of my 2000 dodge ram 1500 quad cab has cracked in half twice.the first time happened after the dealership replaced the air conditioning evaporator.i paid 50% of the cost with them to replace it with a new dashboard.this new dashboard has now cracked in two places and the instrument bezel is cracking as well.i have heard that this is very common with 1995-2003 dodge rams and it can cause electrical failures.
The dashboard of my 2000 dodge ram 1500 has been slowly cracking and caving in over the past 4 years.i fear this is a safety hazard as it will affect the deployment of the air bags and electrical components exposed are also a hazard.dodge chrysler is well aware of this defect and needs to fix these pickups.we paid fair market for them and now we can't even sell an otherwise beautiful truck.
The cracked dash in my 2000 dodge sport 4x4.
Dodge ram 1500 dash board is about to fall off in my lap while driving and i am afraid when it does it will cause injury or my death...it has already caused a minor injury to a fiend of mine in the passenger seat. We were driving down the road and the glove compartment fell off on her foot and caused 2 hairlinr fractures. The hinge had cracked and broken like the rest of the dash its just a matter or time before gets killed. My electrical system is malfunctioning lights go on and off at night this issue is going to get people killed.
Purchased 2000 dodge ram 1500 pick up used in 2003. In the same year the dash boardstarted to crack ,it now has large pieces missing. Spoke to dealerwho was not able to help. I know threepeople who own dodge trucks similar years, all three have cracking dash boards.

Dashboard cracking. Started with 1 crack from windshield to front of dash. More cracks developed. Replaced original with part from dealer. New dash cracked in almost same pattern. Edges of dash cracking and falling off.
The dash on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 has cracked to the point that there is barely any left. I feel this is a safety issue because the broken pieces could fly at someone and cause serious injuries. Also upon impact the dash could have further pieces break off and cause damage.
Dash cracks and is in big sharp pieces could cause an injury if in accident.
Dashboard cracking and breaking up.
My 2000 dodge ram truck dashboard is just about disintegrated with many cracks - pieces are starting to fall out which exposes the wires to sun. Dodge does not want to seem to do anything about these faulty dashboards that appear to be falling apart.
Dash on my 2000 ram 1500 began with a hairline crack. Four years later the entire dash has caved in. I see this as a major safety concern as my children ride with me every day. I am concerned with the pieces flying during an accident or the air bags being compromised. The pieces are very sharp and could injure one of my children severly in a crash. With the amount of complaints about this problem, i am surprised the government has not taken the time to look deeper into this issue.
The dashboard in my 2000 dodge ram 1500 pickup just started cracking for no reason a while back and has now degraded to the point that a large piece of the dashboard fell off exposing the inner dash area.my research has shown this to be a large scale issue with dodge ram pickups and other chrysler vehicles.
Dash had started cracking bad,had to have a new heater core put in and when the mechanic removed the dash it fell to pieces, bought a cloth cover and had to have an air conditioner put in so when the removed the damaged dash it fell apart more.
A crack in the dashboard of my 200 dodge 1500 ram quad cab 4x4 started 3 yrs. Ago. The local dealer said they would charge me 100.00 for diagnostics. " the dash is cracked " so badly, that i use a felt cover to hide the embarrassment.how can i ever sell this truck like this.

Also, electrical failures; headad lights/tail lights/ dash lights and mirrors won't work once the heat gotto the wires underneath the dashboard.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 quad cab sport model.it has a cracked dash.inface, there are large holes exposing wiring.chrysler says this in not a defect.and is not covered under warranty.
Dt*: the contact stated the dashboard cracked above the steering wheel, and in the corner by the passenger window.the cracks continued to get worse until the crack above the steering wheel grew to 16 inches, and the one near the passenger window became a hole 3 inches in diameter.the cracks caused the wiring under the dashboard to corrode slightly.the vehicle was taken to a private repair shop, who determined that the dashboard needed to be replaced.the mechanic also noted that between 1994 and 2001, the dashboards on those vehicles were all cracking.
The dash started to crack in this time frame and continues to crack into pieces which may fall into the housing.these pieces are sharp and in an accident could easily break away and cause bodily harm.this is a well known issue with the dash and also the black cover in this vehicle spanning a number of years.the plastic is obviously sub standard and defective.it is not only a cosmetic issue but a safety issue in that further damage could occur from further deterioration of the defective materials.
I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4wd quad cab model.due to an apparent defect in the quality of the dash pieces there are several major cracks running the total depth of my dash panel. There are cracks that go right over my passenger side air bag which cause concern over the proper operation of the air bag in the unforeseeable event of an accident. Dodge wants a ridiculous amount of money to replace the dash which i am unable to supply. They will not replace the dash as a defect product which could cause safety issues.
My dashboard also is severely cracking we all know there is a air bag in there and when mine goes off i'm suing the hell out of dodge. This is a extremely common problem and should be addressed.
2000 dodge ram 1500 dash cracking all over and has large pieces missing and just keeps cracking before to much longer won't be any dash left to worry about . You all should make the chrysler or dodge corp. Fix this problem i know i'm not the only dodge truck owner with this problem.

Dodge ram 1500 dashboard cracked to the point airbags would not work properly or at the very least throw plastic shards and parts that could injure or kill occupants. Dealer was contacted at the time first cracks occurred and did nothing.. Was told at that time not covered by mfg, even though it could be safety issue. Since then cracks have increased in size to the point large chunks of plastic broken away and would not allow airbags to deploy should they be activated.
Had to replace dash due to multiple cracks at approx 68k miles.
I have a 2000 dodge ram quad cab.i have had the truck since 2000 and taken immaculate care of it.over the coarse of the past 2 years thedashboardhas been steadily cracking andwas getting worse.i was told to send this report from stephen cooper whowasa tv reporter in florida.

I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 pickup that i drove off the dealer lot new in january 2000.the dash began to crack, then the cracks developed into holes.chunks and shards of plastic have fallen down into the dash.the cracks extend down to the passenger side airbag which has now been turned off due to the risk of flying plastic missiles if the airbag is deployed.this was not due to excessive sun since the truck has been parked in shady areas for most of the time i've owned it.nothing has ever been allowed to be placed on the dash to cause any kind of stress damage.this truck was assembled in mexico according to the tag inside the door.i am concerned about the safety issue involved with the sharp, brittle plastic and the fact that this is clearly a result of poor quality plastic.thank you.
2000 dodge ram 1500 dash board is caving in.consumer wants to know if the problem will effect the air bag.*nj
The dash on our 2000 dodge ram is cracked to pieces.daimler chrysler says that it's not a defect.i have researched this and found it to be common.i am worried about air bag deployment and the possibility of one of the shards being projected into someone.we bought the vehicle last year, the dash was cracked when we got it and that's why the gentleman was selling it.however, now it's falling apart. It's no longer just cracked, but in pieces.the incident date indicated is around the time we got the vehicle as i have no way to find out when the problem began.

I bought my 2000 dodge ram brand new.about 3 years ago i noticed some small cracks in the dash, then some time last year, the dash started collapsing in huge sections.i then started having electrical problems.i checked with my mechanic and he said it is a result of the sun hitting the wires through the holes in the dash.i then bought a dash cover to stop any further sun damage but continue to have intermittent electrical problems.it has gotten to where it is unsafe to drive.
Dash on 2000 dodge ram cracking.
My dash has cracked in multiple places.i don't know anything that i did to aid in this happening.
Over time my dashboard has been cracking and now has begun to break apart leaving a large hole in the center of my dashboard.

The front cover and top of the dashboard on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 has been slowly falling apart over the last two years.i have removed the front instrument cover due to dangerous sharp edges.the top of the dash has split into four sections with numerous cracks radiating from the bolts near the windshield.had a 6"x10" section of the top dash pop out and land in my lap when i hit a pothole.
The dashboard on my 2000 dodge pickup truck has cracked and fallen in in several places.i have read articles where people have had electrical problems such as driving at night and the lights go out etc.read several articles stating that the problem is wide spread and dodge needs to have a recall.i wanted to write and complain as it appears as though there could possibly be a danger involved with the dash board breaking. Not sure when the majority of the cracks happened so i'm estimating in the fields below.
Dash is cracking in several spots, could interfere with the air bag deployment in the event of an accident. New cracks start and old ones grow in size.
My 2000 dodge rams' dash has broken into multiple shards of plastic, some 12 inches long. This is the second time this has happened. The first dash lasted approx. 4 years. The replacement lasted less with a carpet dash cover. The shards are dagger shaped and dangerous especially when you have small children.
Dash board collapsed and cut wiring underneath. Very sharp pieces!!
My dash is cracked and broken. This has caused issues with my wiring as my speakers have stopped working. I am worried that this may lead to safety issues with life safety systems including air bags, headlights, turn signals, etc.
Cracked dashboard.
Dashboard in 2000 ram(pickup) cracked and falling apart.
Bought used 2000 dodge ram 4x4 this past summer.it only has 61,000 miles on it.about three months after buying it, we noticed a very large crack in the center of the dashboard going from window to edge of front. I had read about this fault with this model truck, but when we bought it, it had no crack.i am afraid for our safety now.there should be a recall as it is a safety problem!but, of course, dodge won't recall anything.........like the defective ball joints, front ends, etc.
The dashes on the 2000 dodge ram they just fall apart.
Piece of my dashboard broke off and fell under my brake pedal.
I have a 2000 dodge 1500 p/u every since we bought the truck we cannot get any help to replacethe cracked dashboard. Its a hazard while driving, the trucks value is' 0'due to the cracked dash. Dodge should be 100% responsible for replacement of defected part! we did nothing to cause damage, we cant even wipe it when we clean the truck. I am in fear that my new grandson could get cut from the sharp edges if he were to put his hands on the dash. Plus me & my stroke.
2000 dodge ram.....cracks in dashboard have now joined and chunks have fallen in.worried that this will impair airbag deployment.i purchased this truck new and cracks started about 3-4 years into ownership.

Vehicle experienced vibration at idle, dealer found the step bars improperly installed which caused the knocking noise at idle.
I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 and the dash in this vehicle has completely fallen apart. It started with some cracks but now has entire pieces falling off of it down into the floor boards . It is going to make this vehicle illegal to drive on the road unless daimler chrysler recalls these vehicles to be fixed, as this is due to cheap materials not holding up.
I have a 2000 dodge ram that the dash cracked and is now falling out in huge pieces this started about 4 to 5 years ago. I'm worried that this will affect the air bag on the passenger side of the truck and the wiring under the dash. When i called the dodge line they said it would have to do a diagnostic test at the dealership we had already talked to a dealership and they said there was no problems with the dashes in the dodge trucks and it would cost around $800.00 to replace.
Dashboard failure on 2000 dodge ram 1500 truck. The dashboard has fractures / cracks that propagate to airbag area passenger side. I have shut airbag off on the passenger side in fear of airbag ignition and flying shards of hard plastic coming from decomposing dash. It is apparent that this plastic material is defective considering the vehicle is garaged and has only 46,000 miles on it's od. Dash area on drivers side has completely fractured with pieces beginning to dislodge and fall into wiring harness above steering area. Fear is chaffing occurring at wire harness locations from dislodged plastic shards and creating the potential for electrical interior fire.
The whole dash on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 has caved in leaving jagged edges everywhere and my electrical wires exposed. Smaller pieces sometimes fall into the air vents and blow out into my face. The problem started with cracks and by november 2008, the dash was almost completely gone.
I bought a 2000 dodge ram 1500 in august of 2002.in january 2003 on a fairly cold morning on my way to work, i drove over a small speed bump and my dashboard cracked from one end to the other.the crack has spread on two other occasions just by hitting small bumps in the road.
Dash board has literally shattered!!started with what looked like a stress cracked when vehicle was 2 years old, then cracks appeared every where.have brought in to dealer a few times to complain, but was told there was nothing that could be done.they have received other complaints but until there was a recall nothing could be done unless it was at my expense ($550).dash is now duct taped together (what pieces remain) and have purchased a dash mat to cover.concern is that pieces are falling through and this may cause malfunction in electrical system and/or air bags.
Cracking and collapsing dashboard leaving wiring exposed.
I own a 2000 dodge 1500 pick-up after about 4 years of ownership the dashboard developed a small crack at the passenger defroster vent. The crack increased in size until the top of the passenger dashboardwasin many sections. This may cause a problem if the passenger air bag was deployed by sending flying pieces of dashboard out with the force of the air bag.ak
The dashboard of my 2000 dodge ram started cracking shortly after purchase.it has completely disintegrated and leaves sharp corners and working parts exposed to the occupants of the vehicle.
I drive a 2000 dodge ram and the dash is falling apart. It started with a little crack and has become a huge problem. I talked to dodge and they said there was nothing they could do for me. It seems that many other people are experiencing the same problems.
Dt: contact stated the dashboard started showing hair line cracks and have progressed into spider webbing. Piecesbroke off and spilled overunderneath the dashboard, including the radio, heater, and passenger air bag area. Where the piecesbroke off, the dashboard was very sharp, brittle and posed a safety risk. He was afraid that if the air bag deployed one of these pieces could project and hurt someone. Because the vehicle was no longer under warranty the manufacturer and dealer offered no help. The vehicle has not been repaired. Updated 12/27/05.
I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 about a monthago my dash starting cracking & collapsing.
The dash cover on my 2000 has cracked to the point there is virtually no cover left.the interior of the dash is exposed, what dash is left is jagged and sharp, and i shudder to think what might happen in an accident.now, the instrument bezel has begun cracking, and the clips that attach it are gone - they are part of the now missing dash cover.the electrical wires behind the dash are exposed and the insulation has started to get brittle.the edges of the dash are jagged and pointed.the bezel interferes with driving the truck.
Dashboard is cracking in chunks and flying around in truck while window is open.
The dashboard on my truck started crackinglast year and has gotten worse as time goes on.i now have cracks all the way across the dashboard and a big piece fell out leaving a gaping hole.

The dashboard on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 is crumbling. I am concerned that it will cause a failure of the passenger side airbag in the event of a crash. The dodge dealer would not replace it unless i paid for the repair because they claimed it was cosmetic only.
The dash in my 2000 dodge ram 1500 is cracked and falling apart. The pieces are jagged and very sharp.
The dash board on my ram has a huge crack { along with several small cracks} running from passenger side windshield back across to center of dash. I have to wonder what is keeping dash together, very unsafe. This is a big problem in this model and needs to be taken care of!
Dashboardcracked and caved in. Totally destroyed by cracking.
My dash board fell in on my 2000 dodge ram on my way into work and is progressively getting worse from weather conditions. I am afraid this could cause electrical problems with the sun beating down on exposed wires and other possible damage to the vehicle.
Dashboard cracking and falling in.in approximately late 2006, my dashboard developed minor cracks.soon the cracks got larger until pieces started falling into the dash cavity.i went to my dodge dealer with the concern about a recall, but there were no recalls for this symptom.dodge said it would pay 1/2 of the repair, a total of about $2,000 of which i would have to pay about $1,000.i could not afford this at the time.since then, the dash has continued to crumble apart.now, the air conditioner unit has a hole in the evaporator core.to repair this, the dash would have to be removed.you can imagine, the dash would be removed in pieces.i believe the crumbling dash has caused the hole in the evaporator core.dodge should replace the dash and replace the evaporator core too.what's next?the heater core, electrical components, headlights on a dark back road somewhere?dodge needs to take care of it's customers.
I purchased the vehicle in 2006, shortly thereafter, i began to notice pieces of plastic laying on the floor. It was my belief that the children were breaking the plastic until i was driving and a large piece of the dash simply fell to the floor. This problem has persisted to the point where i am afraid to drive the vehicle anymore. I am afraid because the dashboard appears to be detached from the body, the way it gyrates about vigorously. I am afraid that the airbags will be activated or the dash will fall to my lap while driving .

The dashboard started cracking about 3 months ago and is in very poor condition right now. The headlights also will occasionally turn off when i turn the bright on and i have to flash the bright a couple of times to get them to turn on.
Shortly after we purchased the vehicle back in 2000 the dashboard started to crack.throughout the years the plastic dash has become more brittle and the broken pieces have the strength and texture of peanut brittle but are rather sharp.we would find pieces all over the cab of the truck and if you dropped something down in the dash and tried to retrieve it, you would often come in contact with the sharp edges of the plastic that was still attached to the rest of the dash assembly.here recently the inner-frame that is also made of the same faulty plastic which holds the radio, temperature controls, headlight switch, airbag control switch, instrument panel, etc has also started to crack and the components are beginning to detach from the rest of the dash assembly.the main concern that we have recently noticed is how the passenger air-bag cover snaps onto the cracking dashboard plastic, if the air-bag were to deploy sharp plastic shards would be sent towards the passenger with the airbag.we have filed multiple complaints with our local dodge dealer and the dodge corporation directly and they simply tell us the vehicle is out of warranty and there is nothing they can do and offer for us to pay for the dashboard to be replaced.we should not have to pay for the mistake of the company due to them using defective plastic to mold the dashboard assembly.
My 2000 dodge 1500 has a severely cracked dash.this could cause serious injury in the event of an accident with airbag deployment.i have contacted dodge but they will not admit a problem. Complaints are easy to find on internet.
There is a large cracks on the passenger side of the dashboard,it has cracked into several small pieces,if the air bag were to deploy these pieces could become deadly,i have turned off the air bag as to keep this from possibly happening,i have taken very good care of this truck,64,000 miles and its a 2000 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. I know this is a problem in this truck.

My dashboard was completely destroyed by the sun and heat ( 2008). It started as cracks and morphed into pieces falling apart. I asked dodge in 2008 if they was any recalls and the responded no. I could have it replaced for apprx 600 usd. Its now 2016 and i finally had my dash replaced with a new aftermarket piece that is made with plastics thst are designed to withstand sunlight and heat. Why is dodge allowed to produce a product that fails so easily and not held responsible? there should be releif for the owners !!
As the truck was being driven down the road, approx. 40 mph the hood of the truck flipped up and off.the hood was hanging off the side of the truck.

Dash cracking and falling into the passenger area. Big chunks of plastic fell off of the dash and the truck is relatively not used.
Cracks in the top cover of the instrument dashboard have gotten so bad the dashboard now has broken apart and fallen in on itself.

While driving done the road at 45 mph, hood unexpectedly opened, blocking my view of the road and causing my windshield to smash. Immediate inspection of safety latch showed that it was not working correctly due to built up rust. Windshield and hood will need to be replaced, along with saftey latch. (all damaged parts are available for now).
Hood latch comes off.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 extended cab and the hood unexpectedly flew up going down the highway and smashed my window and the hood is destroyed. This is the second time, very very dangerous, for me and the drivers behind me. The grill flew off and possibly damaged the cars behind and next to me. The first time it happened was a couple years ago and i was very lucky it was not a busy road and i was only going abut 35-45 mph. To correct it i had to buy a new hood, grill and all parts pertaining to the hood replacement....oh also a new windshield. Thanks dodge!

My dash in my 2000 dodge ram all of a sudden has cracked all across the right sidehas not been hit or abused but is very ugly and irritating because of the care i have given my truck.
2000 dodge ram 1500 dashboard completely destroyed. No off roading in vehicle ever. Normal driving conditions. Problem started at around 75,000 miles. Dodge told me to buy some epoxy and that i was on my own. Mechanic cannot put back together after i had heater serviced. Dashboard must be removed in order to access all of the necessary components for servicing the heater. Spoke with chrysler and they agreed it was defective and wanted to charge me $1000 to repair.
Vehicle has experienced several suspension related problems, consumer heard a noise coming through floorboard, dealer replaced intermediate shaft, consumer heard noise again and the dealer replaced bushings, steering wheel was not straight, dealer aligned front end, vehicle experienced pulling to the right, dealer replaced front cooper tires, later vehicle experienced vibration, dealer replaced cooper tires again.

I purchased a used 2000 dodge ram 1500 and noticed that my suspension on my truck is not right. I experience jerking upon braking. It sounds like metal upon metal while i am driving. It is extremely loud also. Under my foot while i am driving i can feel the grinding noise and often it feels very hot.

Consumer brought vehicle in for excessive vibration at speeds of 60-65 mph.dealer examined tires and found that the tires were cupped due to defective suspension system and that there were no problems with the tires.
Door is rattling and it feelslikedoor is going toopen.transmission is also rattling very badly.consumer feelsthat while driving on the highway vehicle may go back. When coming to a complete stop. And steering will will shake.this is a concern because another consumer's steering column broke, and he almost died.

The accident occured august 23, 2001. The truck was brought to autoplex 2000 in beaumont, tx. The front passenger side of the truck was hit. The estimated damages came to be around $8,900.00. When the truck was fixed and my husband was to go and pick it up, we recieved a call that the gate in the service department had hit my driver side door. Well in order for them to fix the door, they had to take off the heated mirror. Since that was done and we got the truck back, we could no longer use the heated mirrors, heater, or the airconditioning. We had to take the fuse out because the switch would stay on. The fuse would not blow out it would just stay on. With the switch staying on the wiring in the dash would catch fire. The problem with the front end is that the tires on the right, and left side are being cut into. This was not accuring before the accident. We put two sets of new tires on the truck in the process of trying to get the truck back in the shop to be fixed. We were told that we had put to big of a tire on the truck, that was the cause for the tires being cut. But we still had our window sticker from when we bought the truck and showed them that with the options package on the truck that size of tire is what came on the truck. Everything that is wrong with the truck now is still things that didn't get checked and fixed from the accident. They are saying it isn't accident related. I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. My husband and i went and bought another truck for that reason. Our only means of transportation and not feeling safe driving it was a problem. They say that they can't find anything wrong with the truck. Apparently there is for the tires to be getting cut. With it being the same size tire that came on the truck.thank you, [xxx]. (1) tire pressure - unable to attain a service ticket (2) replace front tire - faulty side wall - unable to attain a service ticket (3) check alignment, steering wheel off center. Unknown as to what was done - did get a service ticket. For some reason they where looking fortire shimmy at about 30 mph. At a later date i was discussingthis shimmy repair with service tech ron jacobs. He informed me that he did that service ticket, and he could not find a shimmy problem while road testing the truck, but did notice that the steering was off. (4) i called ron thomson (owner of thompson dodge) to talk about what was going on and explained the problem in detail. I took the truck back in for service once again and picked it up later that evening. I spoke to ron jacobs about the repair and i was assured that the truck was thoroughly looked over and that an alignment was performed. While driving the truck home i immediately noticed that the problem was worse than before.i placed a call to your customer center the next day to see if i could take the vehicle to another dealer for service on this same problem, and i was informed that i could seek service at another dealer.(5)i made an appointment at timonium dodge located at 10300 york rd,cockeysville, md 21030. I dropped truck off in the morning and picked it up at noon. A front end alignment was performed and upon driving the truck home i did notice slight improvement. As time progressed the steering problem came back.(6) i took it to timonium dodge again for the same problem and that the tires were starting to show unusual wear. Again, the truck was realigned. It was noted on service ticket that (toe out slightly road test - still pulls slightly - cross rotate front tires - road test. And of course, driving home with the same problem slightly improved at this time.

I just recently had to have the driver side front wheel bearing assembly replaced. This wa sa known defect was told, and was specifically excluded from my extended warranty (go figure). Only a few months after the vehicle was purchased, i hit a pothole and the dash cracked. Over the years, the whole dash has caved in, leaving sensitive electronic components and wiring exposed to the sun. Sharp, brittle pieces of plastic also carry the potential to be hazardous. Dodge says the dash is not a recall item.
The vehicle experienced a problem. (no other info was given).
Dash has cracked all over within a year.recently a piece of the dash(approx. 4"x6" in size) even broke loose and fell into the air duct under the windshield.
My dash is all broken up also. I also had it replaced once while it was still under warranty very very poor design. My first new vehicle. How disappointing. *dt
Like thousands of other dodge ram owners, i have a collapsed dashboard in my 2000 model ram.the truck is in absolute perfect shape with only 45,000 miles... Except for the shards of plastic that cut my wrist when i was retrieving a paper off the dashboard.i sure never thought i would be injured while sitting in a stationary truck in my driveway.surely it's not a safe situation to have a collapsed dashboard over so many electrical wires and air bags.
I have a 2000 dodge ram pickup and the dash board has started to crack.the cracks go across the entire dashboard and i am afraid the passenger airbag is going to become dislodged because of the cracks.i have the airbag deactivated because of this issue. I contacted the dealer and was basically told tough luck there is no recall and its $210.00 for a replacement part

The spare tire is located under the car and held up with a steel cable via a winch hoist.over time the steel cable sheered off so at one point recently i lost the spare tire while driving and i have not noticed it.this is a safety problem as it may have damaged a vehicle following me.i certainly don't want to be driving behind another pickup truck and suddenly its spare tire falls out from underneath it.attachedis a photo of the spare tire winch hoist showing the sheered steel cable.this appears not to be an isolated case as certainly there are videos on youtube available where others are having the same issue.i don't know when exactly i lost the spare tire, i do know that i checked its air pressure about 6 months before writing this report, hence i am picking below today's date.
2000 dodge ram 1500 dash board is caving in.consumer wants to know if the problem will effect the air bag.*nj
The dash board started cracking roughly 4 to 5 years after purchase. I purchased new in 2000. It continued to crack and fall apart as time went on. I had to remove the dash board in order to replace the heating core. During that repair it simply, completely crack and broke apart. In order to get the dash board back in the truck, i had to glue it together using aluminum sheet metal under the dash in order to have something solid to glue the pieces back together with. I never saw anything like it in all my life. It's the worst dash board i have ever seen and it will keep my from buying another chrysler product unless chrysler installs a better dash free of charge.
Normal driving and behavior lead up to the event.the dash in my vehicle is cracked and falling in in multiple locations. There are sharp shards of plastic sticking up and sitting near the passanger airbag. I fear that these could easily become projectiles in the event of an airbag deployment. Nothing has been done to correct the problem. There are hundreds of complaints online for this issue. Dodge is not offering a cost effective solution to this problem.*ln
I am reporting a bad dash board in my truck. I first noticed two small cracks that appeared down by where the windshield & dash meet. This remained for a few months then the dash started spider webbing. The entire dash is now cracked & laying in the bottom. There are huge gaps in the dashboard. I tried resolving this through the dealership where i purchased my truck & was told this was never a covered item & received no assistance. I have recently learned that dodge is no longer making these dashboards & are not available to purchase for replacement.
The dash board on my 2000 dodge pick-up is cracked, this started on the passenger side near the windshield and also near the vents about 6 months after i got it. I now have a small hole where it started on the passenger side and around a 4x5 inch crack on the drivers side that looks really bad. I'm afraid that the piece on the drivers side will soon fall in and cause problems. Thanks
Dash board cracking from manufacturer default.
The vehicle experienced a problem with the vehicle. (no other info was given).
2000 dodge ram 1500 with cracking dash. Consumer would like to know what could be done about this problem. He states that the dash is cracking and collapsing.
My dash board started cracking and then just collapsed the pieces are very sharp and continue to fall off
On hot day, a vertical crack formed in dash during normal driving conditions.this crack is very near the passenger side airbag.at the least this could cause a rip in the airbag during deployment.at the worst this could cause the airbag to malfunction all together.
I believe somebody needs to hold chrysler daimler responsible to place the severe safety concern of the dashboard for the 2000 dodge ram 1500 on the recall list. I have placed photos of why it is a safety concern in this report. They have been aware of this issue for 16 years now and have done nothing to fix it. It is obviously made of defective sub-standard material and has affected a large number of people with this make and model of pickup. The huge concern is that a dashboard of this standard can if not already killed or caused traumatic injuries to face or head to people in a collision due to airbag deployment or even failure to deploy for passenger side. Please take action on the matter before statistics take place.
The dash is cracked in numerous places near the defroster on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4.i was told this may interfere with airbag deployment in the event of an accident.i am just concerned about this because it appears that many other dodge ram owners have similar problems with their dash and it appears to be a common defect.
Dash cracking on 2000 dodge ram pick up. I purchased the 2000 dodge pick up in nov. 1999. Around june of 2003 i started having cracks in the dash and i took it back to crystal dodge for repair but they told me that it was no longer under warranty and it would cost approx. 1500.00 just for the part not including labor. So i did not get it fixed. Last week i saw a report on local new channel 6 out of orlando referencing the same issues that i have been experiencing with my dash and they recommended e-mailing this report. I hope dodge is going to be held responsible for the repairs of this growing problem.
2000 dodge ram with a cracked dashboard. Consumer would like to know if there are any recalls out on this vehicle for the cracked dashboard.
2000 dodge ram truck dashboard is cracking and falling in. Consumer states that dashboard is cracking and falling apart. Consumer is worried that the cracking could cause issues with the air bag system.
2000 dodge ram 1500 dashboard cracked and is collapsing exposing the wires below.
The vehicle stalls when slowing down or stopping at a stoplight.no codes appear and the power steering and brakes no longer work. The vehicle may startup immediately or take two hours to restart. The radio and lights work, but the gauges don't engage when trying to restart the car. The problem occurs during warm weather days.the problem has occurred a number of times when my teenage son has been driving the vehicle. I'm afraid the vehicle will stall and place me in a dangerous situation.the problem has occurred a tremendous amount of times over the past year.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 pickup and it developed a long crack in the dash.according to a local news station in orlando (local6) this seems to be a common problem with these years, make and model.this is developing into a safety hazard as the pieces will get loose in case of an accident but also the dash holds the passenger airbag.other people claim electrical failures also (dash lights, brake lights and head lights) in conjunction with a caving-in dash that make me scared driving this car.
Right after purchasing my used 2000 dodge ram quad cab, a large crack quickly formed on the dashboard.now only a few months after purchasing my truck the dashboard has gaping holes in it.these aren't little holes they consume most of the dash itself.as many complaints as there has been on this problem one would assume that the manufacturer would have the courage to back their products cause it is obvious to the working man that this is not an individualized problem but a serious epidemic.while the holes are not causing any problems right now except for continuing the joke war, people laughing cause we can't keep our dodges together, but what is the chance that some of this broken material will get down and hurt other components or even the safety components.something needs to be done about this.chrysler needs to step up already and recall their faulty craftsmanship.
The vehicle experienced a problem. (no other info was given)
The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram 1500.the contact stated that the entire dashboard is cracking.she notified the manufacturer in july of 2006 and they stated that nothing could be done.the current mileage is 67,000 and failure mileage was 57,000.
Hood latch comes off.
My 2000 dodge ram has had a cracked dashboard for some time now. It is cracked in three different places, going from the windshield to the other edge. One crack is directly above the passenger side airbag. I am afraid that the crack may cause the air bag to tear if it were ever deployed. These cracks were not caused by my own doing or due to excessive heat, it is a common problem among dodge owners.
Vehiclewas slipping out of gears.engine check light came on. Consumer took vehicle to dealer, and they said it was an overdrive problem. Please provide any further information.
This is my second dodge ram and again my dashboard is cracking a big chuncks are falling thru the dashboard. My first dodge did this, but i though it may be because i failed to keep it protective from the sun, but the dodge i have know has always been parked in a garage or under a carport and i make sure and keep protective cleaner, sun of a gun, on it frequently.i do feel that someone legal needs to get involved in this and make chrysler/dodge recall this and pay for it. These are not cheap trucks and the engines are very good, but the dashboard makes the truck looked ragged. I have several friends with the same complaints on their dodge trucks.
Dashboard totally and i mean totally fell apart, just from everyday drivings bumps, bounces, and vibrations on city, state, and national streets, roads, and highways.
The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram 1500.the contact stated that the vehicle's dashboard is beginning to crack.the vehicle has not been taken to the dealer.the engine size was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 70,230.
The dashboard on my 2000 dodge truck has cracks all over it. I thought it was just mine but i found out it has happened to many dodge trucks. I don't know if i'm writing to the right people but i feel a dashboard should last a lot longer than 7 years. Some people are saying their lights are not working now due to the big holes they now have in their dashboard.
The dash board on my 2000 dodge pick-up is cracked and breaking apart.i have researched this problem on-line and found that many other dodge owners are experiencing this (especially models '97 - '01).your site has quite a few complaints and there are other sites/forums on-line in which you can read about this same issue.it appears that the dash boards are defective.not only is this a cosmetic issue, it also poses a safety concern in regards to the airbag (located in the dash).i have contacted daimler chrysler regarding the issue and got no where since a "recall" has not been issued.i feel that someone needs to look into this closer and require a "recall" before someone is seriously injured!thank you for your assistance.
I have a 2000, dodge ram 1500 pu. Several months ago, a crack began to appear in the dash. Yesterday? i went to reach for some mail i had placed on the dash? and the pressure of my hand caused the dash to shatter and two large holes to form. With the pieces falling down inside the dash. I have attempted to hot glue the remaining pieces, to prevent further collapse.i have subsequently talked with someone who tells me? that this is a common and known problem with dodge ram trucks. I'd like to know what can be done about it? and whether chrysler has owned up to the problem and taken measures to repair the damage caused by a known defective product.
Dash is cracked by blower duct creating possible hazard during air bag deployment.
I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 pickup and the dash is severely cracked in 4 places. I was informed that this can ultimately cause a rip in the air bag and that we should inform the manufacturer that this is a defect in all of the 94-01 rams.
Vehicle starts to hesitate in the middle of a left turn almost shutting off does it cold or warmed up. Takes a long time to get into gear at a stop light or sign and also when it is in park and put into drive.
While traveling on highwayand without prior warningvehicle took off withhigh speed. This incident has happened more than once.dealership is aware of problem.
On 2/22/05 at 8:20 am i was dropping my grandson off at school. I had parked the vehicle to see rather or not he had gone into the school. When i returned to the truck i had started it up and put into reverse looked behind me andwhile backing up to notice that there was another car coming so i tried to stop backing when i had discovered that the truck would not stop because the gas pedal was stuck to the floor the engine was revving loudly and the truck was going backwards out of my control. At that point i had noticed that there were children and mothers all around in my path i had no choice but to turn the truck to hit another car to stop me. Before i decided to take such measures i had tried to break to stop the truck. The gas peddle was stuck i had even tried to pull the gas peddle up as well as my breaking to find it was doing me no good. After i had hit the other car i had forced the truck into park because the gas peddle had remained stuck. I then took the keys out of the truck and got out to see the damage to the other car. I am just glade that there was no one hurt in this situation it could have ended much worse there could have been people killed and i feel like there should be a investigation on this situation. The police were called and there were 5 different witnesses that seen the whole accident. West jordan police department, 8000 south 1700 west, west jordan, ut84088, case number 05h004273, (801) 569-5270.
The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram 1500.while driving approximately 45 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle accelerated without assistance.the contact manually shifted into neutral and noticed a reduction in braking power.the engine revved and the vehicle rolled to a complete stop.there were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel.the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and has not been repaired.the failure and current mileages were 49,000.
The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck in open throttle. The contact mentioned that she was able to stop the vehicle by engaging the brakes. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 184,500. ..updated 11/14/12 the consumer stated there was a 6 week backorder on a repair kit the recall. The consumer was waiting for repairs. Updated 11/16/2012
Cruise control failure. Consumer states passing gear kicks in when speed drops about 3 mph.
While driving 75 mph on the highway i took my foot off of the gas pedal, but the truck continued to speed up.i pumped the gas a couple of times but i failed to slow down.i applied the brakes, but each time i took my foot off of the brake i sped up again.i exited up an off ramp where i had to stand on the brake to keep form hitting the car infront of me at the light.i geared down(stick shift) but the engine continued to rev as if at 75 mph still.i turned off the key then restarted the truck only to have the engine continue to rev. I then had the truck towed to my mechanic who looked at it that night and the next morning but was unable to find out why it happened.this model does not have computer control of the throttle.i am grateful i was on a straight stretch of highway and not on a mountain road on the way home, and that i didn't hit anyone in the process of stopping...this is not the first dodge to do this according to this web site.perhaps there a so few complaints about this because other drivers have died as a result of a failure that seems to be undetectable after the fact. If i had hit the car infront of me, i would have had no proof that it was equipment failure and not operator error...if i had lived to tell the tale.i used to have complete faith in dodges, but no more.
My windshield whippers stop randomly when on low speeds
While driving air conditioner warning light continuously illuminated on the dashboard. As a result, windshield defrosterwas inoperative. Dealer indicated call nhtsa and they will take careof your problem.

While driving 30 mph in inclement weather consumer noticed that water was coming through the rear window. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, andmechanicdetermined that the rear windows needed to be replaced, and replaced it. However, the problem recurred.
Power windowswill not operate duringcold weather.the wiper also malfunction in cold weather.the mileage per gallon of gas for this vehicle was very low.
The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram 1500.after putting 400 miles on the vehicle, it began overheating while driving uphill at an unknown speed.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced the transmission cap.when the windows were rolled down, they would not go back up.in addition, the headlights would dim when the windows were rolled up and down.while driving between 5-10 mph uphill, the exhaust system fell off the vehicle.the bolts were not properly tightened.the cd changer had to be replaced after failing twice.there was also a grinding noise in the transmission when the shifter was placed into gear, and there was a hesitation when placing the gear into reverse or drive.the transmission has been rebuilt, but the vehicle is still grinding and hesitating when placed into gear, drive, or reverse.on may 22, 2008, the vehicle will be taken to the dealer for the driveshaft to be replaced in hopes that the grinding will cease.the current mileage was 73,500 and failure mileage was 400.

Windshield wiper/washeroperates erratically during inclement weather.please provide any additional information/attachments.
Both front tires are being damaged by rubbing against something in the wheel well. I took the vehicle back to the dealer where it was supposed to be repaired. The problem was not remedied, tire damage is still occurring high on the inner sidewall of both front tires. Tires are the same size that came on vehicle from factory 245 - 75/r16.
The contact owns a 2000 dodge ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, an unusual noise emitted outside of the vehicle and then suddenly the vehicle swayed off the road. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed the lug nuts detached from the front passenger's side wheel. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where currently ten lug nuts were being replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
It was discovered by a technician, that the left rear wheel was cracked.
Lug nuts keep coming loose, have had dealership and several reputable repair shops attempt to fix the problem, i have replaced over 15 studs due to loosing lug nuts frequently, they loosen up as soon as 3 weeks after having vehicle serviced, recently, i was driving on an interstate when my front tire came off, luckily i had made it to the shoulder and caused minimum damage to vehicle- documents from tow truck/ repair shop will verify this happened and also verify that upon checking each tire for same problem, driver side rear lug nuts were only hand tight, the rear axle was just serviced 3 weeks ago- no coincidence- i was out of town when this happened, this has been going on for 6 months, so there is no question that this is vandalism/ or practical joke.
We put new tires on the truck 245/75 r16. The stop on the wheels is not long enough to keep the front tires from rubbing on the metal and wearing the rubber of the inside walls on the tires.
