On february 21,2000 consumer was involved in a severe front end collision . Dual airbags did not deploy, and seatbelt did not lock up, causing driver to hit steering wheel hard that it was bent. Dealer claimed everything was in working order. On nov 28,2000 consumer was involved in front end crash , hit back of vehicle, and then hit guardrail, again dual airbags did not deploy, and seatbelts did not lock. Chrysler sent out investgator who claimed there was no trouble codes in system.
Vehicle ran off road and hit a pine tree. During frontal crash airbags didn't deploy, driver sustained injuries.
Traumatic injuries to arm and abdomen; faint sound briefly was noticeable from clockspring area prior to airbag explosion; vehicle moving at 5 mph, slightly turning right; never a collision or maintenance performed on steering column; with airbag removed the particular sounds are much more pronounced.therefore, i suspectclock spring may have triggered explosion.wire insulation appears worn away. I received no notice of this likelihood or possibility of failure. Allegedly, special investigations group <[email protected]> will properly look into this.i question whether breach of the duty of care, andharm caused by the breach has occurred.i no longer feel relatively safe with dodge ram 1500 or that chrysler is honoring their obligation to provide a reasonably safe environment for the driver.

The contact owns a 1994 dodge ram 1500. While using the truck to plow with the heater blower on high, the vehicle caught on fire. The contact was able to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the inspector was not able to look at the vehicle for two weeks. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 00v135000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
Lights would not come on jiggled knob they came on we drove about 4 miles turned on left turn signal lights flickered and top of dash and vent on driver side was smoking smelt like rubber burning touched top of dash it burned my hand pulled over shut engine and lights off boyfriend/husband took dash off to stop fire it was the light switch burned completely inside.
The contact owns a 1994 dodge ram 1500. The contact stated that he received a nhtsa recall notice regarding the electrical ignition which was also related to the hood safety latch. The vehicle was in the dealers possession since november 22, 2010. The dealer informed the contact that they do not have the part to repair the electrical component. The contact was concerned that the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. There are no failures at this time.
Truck is designed to tow 7800lbs but when towing such weight, vehicle will loose speed and power.tt
Consumer noticed that the engine sounded muffled and vehicle was hesitating, consumer thought nothing of it due to a heavy snow the night before, however when up to 45 mph, vehicle would shake, consumer checked oil and found no sign of any on the dipstick, a mechanic found that the coil wire was running along side and against the spark plugs, the coil and spark plug wires came into contact with eath other, wetness or a load on the engine caused the wire to send a charge into the engine blowing out the number 5 piston, consumer had to have engine rebuilt.

Possible fire hazard.the technician told me the dodge ignition had less wires going to it than many other vehicles he had worked on.two of the prong in this module were charred and two wires were slightly damaged.
Computer problems.
While driving at 25 mph consumer smelledsmoke coming fromvehicle.pulled over and saw smoke coming from the ignition switch.consumer cut off the vehicle, and vehicle was not smoking. Consumer was able to start the vehicle back up and drove it to the dealer.

I have had problems with a loose ignition switch for several years.i have not reportedit until nowbecause i was unaware that it had been a problem for other owners.i had smoke come from the steering column but thought that it was just a fluke.the fan motor for the ventilation system quit working at the same time.upon moving the steering column up and down with the tilt feature i was able to get the fan going again and the smoke stopped.this has happen on several occasions without smoke however.this happens on a random cycle with no apparent pattern of frequency.it only seems to happen when tilting the wheel from time to time .after having read about others vehicles with the same problem i have decided to report this to a local dealer.i have an appointment 7/6/00 to replace the vapor canister which has been recalled.i will request a replacementof the ignition switch for free based on the reports in your web site with previous owners complaints.new issuethe vehicle has started failing to idle while coming to a stop and the engine comes to a stop or dies.this has nearly caused two accidents because the powering steering and power brakes fail due to the engine dying in the middle of heavy traffic.i managed to avoid accidents thank goodness.the truck then refuses to start dispite the engine turning over when attepting to restart. I have been lucky to move the truck out of traffic both times without incident so far.the truck was towed 6/28/00/to a local repair shop who has done regular maintinance on it for sometime.this tow was the result of the second failing of the engine.the shop has yet to determine the cause as of this writing.new issuethe steering column also has a clunking noisewhen turning the steering wheel and will have the dealer look at it the same time the recall work will be done and will let you know from there.thank you for your help in this matter.i did'nt know you could help prior to this day.

When turning onheadlights lights did not come on. Prior to the headlights not coming on, owner was smelling a electrical burning smell , for about a month. When pulling off the dash cover and removinglight switch,switch was very hot. Dealer was called about having the swtich replaced. Owner was informed that the switch had been upgraded, andreplacement part would cost $102. 46, plus $65.00 labor. Switch has not been replaced.
I have a 1994 dodge truck. It has a defective radiator. The end cap ( plastic has developed a hairline crack. I understand that this is a chronic problem with these trucks. Why is plastic joined to metal in the first place? seems like planned obsolescence to me.

I was driving along at about 50-55 mph when suddenly the rear of the truck is violently propelled upwards, lifting the rear wheels up off the pavement.i look up in the rear view mirror trying to make sense of what just happened and i see my spare tire standing straight up in the middle of the road and other vehicles braking and weaving to avoid the dump my truck just took in the middle of the road.once i looked under the bed of the truck i noticed a 4 to 5 inch piece of frayed cable is all that's left where my spare tire used to be.it must have gotten hung up under the bumper when it dropped because the bumper is now pushed up towards the tailgate in the center.my spare was a brand new tire as well.

I was driving my 1994 dodge ram 1500 on the morning of march 24, 2007 when smoke came out of the dash.the running lights, taill ights and dash lights then went out.i was drving in the fog,and it was not yet light out.fortunately, i still had headlights.the headlamp switchwas bad and the wiring connector melted.i have not had it fixed yet.itwas the exact condition described in recall #99v024000 , except that my truckwas a 1500, not a 3500.i had to replace the switch for this same thing a little over a year ago, and i'm sure that i am not the only one that has experienced it.

I own and drive a 1994 dodge ram 1500. On 4/13/05 i was driving on a four lane highway when the small cable that holds the spare tire under the truck bed in place snapped. The tire exited from underneath the vehicle and entered traffic. Miraculously, fellow motorist took evasive maneuvers and missed this tire and wheel bouncing all over four lanes of active traffic. I spent an extensive amount of time until i located the failed part from my truck. I was very dismayed when i discovered this tiny cable was all that retained the spare tire under the truck. Upon inspecting equal model trucks at car lots i found that there were no safety devices to prevent this from happening in the event of cable failure. This particular incident showed no signs of corrosion, fray or any rubbing of the cable. It simply broke clean. I mere second either way could have been the difference between the actual event or it being fatal. I am a sworn public safety official,and it horrified my that this could happen. Also, i amvery upset at the liability that this could have put me in. I have not had the truck repaired nor will i have the truck repaired with the ongoing fear it could happen again.i wrote chrysler about it only to be insulated and apalled at their responce. I feel very confident that i am not the only one this has happened to. I intend to pursue it to the end. Pitman shaft sheared off, resulting in loss of all steering.during my phone call to orillia dodge in orillia ontario canada to order a new part information was given by the service manager that dodge no longer uses this piece of original equipment which is the complete steering boxassembly. Orillia dodge also informed me that a new upgraded model is now being used for replacement part. The shaft broke a normal driving conditions ,country road freshly graded at 30 kilometers per hour.there has been incidents of similarnature known of across canada. Iseem to feel if original equipment is no longer recommended for replacement a recall should be warrented to prevent further accidents an injury to the vehicle owner,passengers,and other public on our roads and sidewalks. While driving 35-40 mph on a wet road vehicle suddenly did a complete 90-degree spin , and rolled over several times before stopping. Consumer sustained 10 broken ribs, and was transported byan ambulance to a local hospital.

My 1994 dodge ram 1500 dash has exploded into 5 separate pieces. I was driving home from ft gordon ga last week and all of a sudden the dash heaved upward and burst throwing pieces of plastic everywhere. I almost ran off the road as a result. Now the electrical materials underneath the dash are exposed to the sun and elements.
My rams dash was cracked when i bought it in 2003 and the original owner glued it back together and it proceeded to crack. In 2006 i ripped the dash out and and completely glued it together and it is continuing to crack.

Driver side front wheel disconnected from vehicle at 40 mph.repair shop replaced the tie rod and ball joints. Consumerwas not sure if upper or lower ball joints were replaced.

Owner driving along when vehicle jerked to the right, driver loss control and ran into ditch.the inboard weld bead never contacted the steering stabalizer bracket causing undo stress.

I own and drive a 1994 dodge ram 1500. On 4/13/05 i was driving on a four lane highway when the small cable that holds the spare tire under the truck bed in place snapped. The tire exited from underneath the vehicle and entered traffic. Miraculously, fellow motorist took evasive maneuvers and missed this tire and wheel bouncing all over four lanes of active traffic. I spent an extensive amount of time until i located the failed part from my truck. I was very dismayed when i discovered this tiny cable was all that retained the spare tire under the truck. Upon inspecting equal model trucks at car lots i found that there were no safety devices to prevent this from happening in the event of cable failure. This particular incident showed no signs of corrosion, fray or any rubbing of the cable. It simply broke clean. I mere second either way could have been the difference between the actual event or it being fatal. I am a sworn public safety official,and it horrified my that this could happen. Also, i amvery upset at the liability that this could have put me in. I have not had the truck repaired nor will i have the truck repaired with the ongoing fear it could happen again.i wrote chrysler about it only to be insulated and apalled at their responce. I feel very confident that i am not the only one this has happened to. I intend to pursue it to the end. I was driving along at about 50-55 mph when suddenly the rear of the truck is violently propelled upwards, lifting the rear wheels up off the pavement.i look up in the rear view mirror trying to make sense of what just happened and i see my spare tire standing straight up in the middle of the road and other vehicles braking and weaving to avoid the dump my truck just took in the middle of the road.once i looked under the bed of the truck i noticed a 4 to 5 inch piece of frayed cable is all that's left where my spare tire used to be.it must have gotten hung up under the bumper when it dropped because the bumper is now pushed up towards the tailgate in the center.my spare was a brand new tire as well.
I have a 1994 dodge 1500 pickup truck since the summer of 2009 the dashboard has been cracking apart. It started at the mounting screws located at the lower windshield which support the upper portion of the dashboard. The dashboard in turn supports the steering column. *ln

The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who linked the failure to nhtsa campaign number:01v037000 (vehicle speed control). The contact reached out to dch chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of temecula (26845 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591) where he was informed that the previous owner had the recall repair performed. The mechanic informed the contact that the recall repair performed failed to fix the vehicle. The contact also spoke to larry h. Miller dodge ram peoria (8665 w bell rd, peoria, az 85382) and larry h. Miller chrysler jeep dodge ram surprise (13165 n autoshow ave, surprise, az 85388) who both disputed the independent mechanic's claims. The dealers stated that the failure was certain to recur due to the high mileage on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a recall repair was a one-time free repair and that any additional repairs were done at the vehicle owner's expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 255,000.
I have had problems with a loose ignition switch for several years.i have not reportedit until nowbecause i was unaware that it had been a problem for other owners.i had smoke come from the steering column but thought that it was just a fluke.the fan motor for the ventilation system quit working at the same time.upon moving the steering column up and down with the tilt feature i was able to get the fan going again and the smoke stopped.this has happen on several occasions without smoke however.this happens on a random cycle with no apparent pattern of frequency.it only seems to happen when tilting the wheel from time to time .after having read about others vehicles with the same problem i have decided to report this to a local dealer.i have an appointment 7/6/00 to replace the vapor canister which has been recalled.i will request a replacementof the ignition switch for free based on the reports in your web site with previous owners complaints.new issuethe vehicle has started failing to idle while coming to a stop and the engine comes to a stop or dies.this has nearly caused two accidents because the powering steering and power brakes fail due to the engine dying in the middle of heavy traffic.i managed to avoid accidents thank goodness.the truck then refuses to start dispite the engine turning over when attepting to restart. I have been lucky to move the truck out of traffic both times without incident so far.the truck was towed 6/28/00/to a local repair shop who has done regular maintinance on it for sometime.this tow was the result of the second failing of the engine.the shop has yet to determine the cause as of this writing.new issuethe steering column also has a clunking noisewhen turning the steering wheel and will have the dealer look at it the same time the recall work will be done and will let you know from there.thank you for your help in this matter.i did'nt know you could help prior to this day.

We ( my family and i) were driving east on i40 getting on the interstate at papermill road.there was as shimmy, then a pop, bang clank and shudder and thenwe lost steering. It almost caused a wreck.i had to slam on the brakes,and had to trouble steering it to the to the emergency lane crossing over infront of other cars. I lost steering ability in the truckwe had to drive it home at 25 miles per hour. When we would hit a small bump in the road it would shimmy and shake. It takes three rotations of the steering wheel to make even a gentle curve.
