The airbag light keeps popping up.when parked or moving, it's always on and chimes from time to time.the vehicle has not been hit or in any car accidents. Dealer is unaware of any issues but i've talked with other nitro owners that are having the same issue. My clock was losing time for a long time i took it to the dealership and they said nothing was wrong. Finally they had a recall and then wanted to charge me for the repair even though it had been in a couple of time for the issue before. I love my nitro but i don't think i will ever purchase another dodge vehicle again because of how my issues have been handled.

About a year ago the airbag warning light flashed up on the dash everytime i start the vehicle.the code flashed up for no reason.we did not have an accident nor running over a rut.this is a safety issue even though it it isn't due for a recall.i think it is a module issue, according to the sheet from chrysler my nitro is right in the middle of the recall model year. It happened when we driving on a smooth city street.my nitro is a disaster...i replaced the ccm because of a charging issue myself.i also will probably have to airbag module myself.i am an aircraft and marine mechanic so it is no big deal if i have to.

I was stopped at a intersection waiting for traffic to pass on a city street, as i pressed the gas pedal to drive the vehicle had a loud explosion noise and felt as if i was rear ended, immediately the side airbags deployed on me and my two sons and objects flew everywhere, the truck immediately began to roll backwards as i couldn't control or stop it. I pulled the emergency breaks and jumped out to see my drive shaft had exploded underneath the truck, the ambulance came to take my son to the er because the airbags went off causing him to have severe collar bone pain. I contacted insurance company this morning and waiting to hear who's covering what. I/my son is in severe pain and shocked as to why this wasn't recalled with the other nitro years. This could've been fatal, i need answers a.s.a.p.*dt

Takata recall

We were on vacation in st augustine fl in the middle of an intersection getting ready to turn and the engine just completely shut off for no reason at all , thank goodness it was around 11:00 at night and there wasn't much traffic because we had a semi truck coming at us , luckily it started right back up and we got out of the way because it could have been a horrific accident ! this vehicle also sputters from time to time like the engine is going to die and also the windshield wipers come on by them selves for no reason !updated 09/15/15*lj

Since last week, randomly while vehicle was in motion or sitting at idle, it will chime with a warning.all my warning lights flash, all my gauges stop working except vehicle temp, my odometer reads "no bus".the wipers begin to go crazy on their own and i lose operation of my blinkers and high beams as well as fog lights and control of wipers.main headlights just stay on.the vehicle still runs and drives but the gauges just sound like everything is constantly trying to reset.this lasts anywhere from a minute to 20 minutes.the vehicle will go back to normal and then randomly it will happen again.i drove from charleston wv to la plata md and this instance occurred 9 times in that 6 hour drive.it was completely random and lasted random amounts of time.no bumps or turns triggered it.it didn't favor happening going up or down mountains, just whenever it decided to glitch out.so at any given point during my drive, i'd lose capabilities to use my blinkers and high beams, let alone know how fast i was going and how much fuel i had left....it was very nerve-wracking.from my research with these symptoms, it points to the tipm.this concerns me as multiple other chrysler, jeep and dodge vehicles have had recalls on the tipm for this and fuel pump relay issues.but my vehicle wasn't listed.i feel loss of blinkers, speed and fuel gauges, and proper use of my high beams/fog lights and windshield wipers is a major safety concern.if i can be pulled over not using a blinker but cannot use it due to this issue at random times...that should drive a safety recall.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge nitro. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the ignition failed to engage when prompted on several occasions within one week. The contact inserted the ignition key and the vehicle would not start. The contact explained that the severity of the failure became increasingly worse over a period of one week. In addition, after opening and/or closing any of the four doors on the vehicle, the anti-theft alarm sounded. The contact attempted to correct the failure by disconnecting the battery cables. Upon reconnecting the battery cables, the anti-theft alarm sounded once again. Furthermore, the air bag indicator illuminated and the totally integrated power module failed to display the tire pressure. A dealer was not made aware of the failures. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 131,141.

Mid nov.7:45amwhile driving i noticed alow roar like the nitro was stuck in first gear but itwasn't, sound continued and the car was not picking up speed. I turned into a parking lot, waited then turned it back on and went to work. At 2:30 the dash thermometer said ?120 degrees?i have the temperature on my phone so i know it was 80.i choose to ignore it and not take it into the dealership because i didn't want to make a big fuss and i needed my car.wed, 3-12-147:50ami was driving the 2011 dodge nitro to take kids to school. It turned off while turning, my blinker stopped working and there were not lights-onthe dash.the wheel was very stiff,i rolled to park along the curb. I put the car in park and turned the key to start the car and it started. Big safety concern so i chose to bring it in for service since.i took in into the dealership at 8:10am that same morning.bustter torres checked in my car.he said he could not ?duplicate? the problem and could not figure out what caused the car to stop while driving. . fri 3-14-14 7:55ami was preparing to turn right, as i was approaching i had my blinker on and my car turned off as i was about to turn into the drive way.i was able to turn my wheel (the steering wheel was very stiff) and roll into the driveway. I noticed there were no lights on to indicate anything, i heard a click when the car turned off. I then turned the key to start the car and the car started fine. Car sat at dealer for 4 days without service because employee messed up and did not create a new work order.not apologetic, made excuses when confronted.had wrong mileage, employee just guessed. We had to argue to get them to check actual mileage.horrible customer service all around, no respect for us as customers. Car still not repaired, car is a lemon.

My check engine light is on becuase of the rollover sensor issue.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge nitro. After starting the vehicle, the windshield wipers erroneously activated. During the failure, the turn signals became inoperable. The contact owns a 2011 dodge nitro. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle accelerated rapidly without warning and stalled directly afterwards. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal depressed on its own and almost caused a crash. Ed shults ford of jamestown, new york was made aware of the failure and replaced the relay box that caused the red lightning bolt warning indicator to illuminate without warning on several occasions. The failure recurred. The contact called the same dealer about the failure and the dealer requested that she pay a diagnostic fee. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no warranty coverage because the defect had not originated from the engine. In addition, the manufacturer stated that there was no recall for the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000. Updated 10/18/17*ljthe consumer stated electrical problem car keeps shutting down in the middle of the street.

Multiple attempts to start, while driving at the highway or at a light it slow down as if going to shuts off, rear windows not working, doors power locks intermittent.

While driving down interstate with 3 passengers including a toddler the keys fell out of the ignition. The truck lost power and steering abilities. When the truck reached 20 mph i noticed the keys were not in the ignition. I grabbed them, handed them to my husband. He put truck in neutral, started truck. This happened again at an intersection about a month later. I usually only have truck key and or a house key on a single ring. Please consider testing vehicles for this possibility and the deadly probability. Update 9/15/15*cwthe consumer has since sold the vehicle. Updated 10/01/15

Using my keyless entry fob, i unlocked my door and tried to start my vehicle.the vehicle would not start, but the dash lights came on so i knew the battery was not dead.i thought the battery on the key fob might be going out, so i went to purchase another key fob battery.with the new battery in the key fob, i tried to unlock my vehicle and it would not open.i used the key to manually unlock the car door, and the alarm went off.i tried to deactivate the alarm with the key fob and by inserting the key in the ignition and tried to start the vehicle.the vehicle would not start, and the alarm would not deactivate.i thought the key fob was bad, so i got my extra key fob and tried it.with the extra key fob, i still incurred the same problem -- could not start my vehicle.i had to use dodge roadside assistance to have my vehicle towed to the dealership.the next morning, the service manager at the dealership said he experienced the same problem with the key fob and was unable to start the vehicle.he remedied the problem by pulling the fuse.after he re-inserted the fuse, he was able to use the key fob and start the vehicle.in checking the diagnostics, no errors were reported.i am very worried that this is going to happen again, and i am not going to be able to start my vehicle.

Horn started blaring on it own. I was in my house with my nitro in my drive way. At appox. 10am the horn started blaring on its own. I tried disabling the alarm to no avail. I ended up disconnecting the battery to get the horn to stop. This is the second time this have happened, the first was about two months ago and i had to disconnect the battery then to get it to stop.

3 weeks after having my 2011 dodge nitro detenator would stick between gears, at both slow and high speeds and i was burnning through gas way too fast. Nissian found my tansmittion oil to be black, i paid for flush and told it was good to go. Next day the car died, the throttle body indicator came on, this was fixed, still burning through gas! couple weeks later now it sounds like a disel engine idle, i can not afford all these problems. I found several owners of this car have had same problems along with electrical as i have had as well, my electrical system cuts out randomly and a few times my kids and i have smelt what seemed to be that of burnt rubber or something. Im very displeased and upset with my purchase.

When i get in the car, all the lights and door ajar sounds happen like normal.when i put the key into ignition and attempt to crank it, all the lights in the dash come on but the vehicle will not start or even turn over or click,,,nothing.after start attempt, the check engine light, gas cap light and tire light stay on and everything else shuts off.i have been a week without the car because it won't start.

Tipm issues. Causing horn to go off while stationary and driving. Causing car to not start while stationary. And causing issues with the lights, wipers and more.

The horn started blowing randomly, pulled the negative battery connector as recommended to reset tipm. The horn continued to go off pulled the fuses as recommended. Was told if it kills the battery the timp needs to be replaced. That is a common issue for this year model vehicle. Called about a recall the recall is for vehicles manufacturer from 07/17/2011 to 12/2011. My truck was manufactured three days prior to this recall time frame. I believe my vehicle is affected by the faulty tipm as well. I would like the part to be covered under the recall.

I have a dodge nitro heat, the car is a lemon. Constant fails with hvac, electric, coils, catalytic converter.my engine light came on and i took the car to the shop next day. Now i am being told the transmission system needs to be replaced for 4k. I have only had the car since 2012, new. Not even 5 yrs old in use.i think this is a real issue that i got a lemon from dodge. They should do something.

This is about the ignition key. An extra key costs $200, this is a safety issue if somebody loses their key and was not able to afford a spare. It is extortion by dodge. Also-- to check the transmission fluid? make an appointment with the dealer and pay $25 minimum. Neither my mechanic nor the quick oil change place can check it-- there is no dipstick, there is a special tool and where the dipstick would be it says "dealer only" and that is true. More extortion. It is not right and needs to be stopped."a" pillars are extremely thick-- di to the styling, overall visibility is severely compromised in this vehicle. They should all be recalled.trans and 4wd are jerky and growl and howl. Dealer: "they're all like that". These are also very much safety issues.thank you,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2011 dodge nitro. While attempting to start the vehicle, an abnormal sound was heard and the vehicle failed to start without warning. After two attempts, the vehicle started and made an abnormal sound. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. In addition, the contact stated there were various electrical issues in the past with the heater, defrost, brake lights, air conditioner, and radio. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge nitro. While driving 20 mph, the seat belt warning lamp illuminated despite all the passengers being secured in the seat belts. The wiper blades then independently powered on as all of the warning lights on the instrument panel simultaneously illuminated. The engine seized and the contact was unable to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for and was diagnosed as a ground wall wire being loose. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 26000.

Total tipm failure!after at least a dozen incidents of the factory anti-theft system sounding (at rest in my driveway, driving in traffic), and several trips to jim browne citrus chrysler/dodge/jeep in dade city, fl where it was un or mis-diagnosed i was charged for every dime of unneeded parts and labor which i paid. The only option i had was to unhook the battery to stop the blaring and the light show throughout my car. The final time, the tipm was replaced and the problem has stopped. It was first diagnosed as a faulty door sensor. I personally checked and cleaned all door contact sensors before taking it in so i knew that was not the problem. Jim browne was clueless! (shade tree mechanic / parts changers). To make the insult even worse, i caught them red-handed charging me for work which was covered under my factory and my extended warranties! the service manager downfaced me and nicely called me a liar even though i provided them copies of my extended warranty to staple to my customer file several years ago. They relented and credited me back "some" of the money that was unrightfully stolen but i am certain it is not all. I paid out in the neighborhood of $4000.00 and lost use of my nitro sometimes for a week at a time while it just sat in their yard & they waited to hear the horn blare (which they say it never did). I am still out well over $1k for the tipm & labor charges (outrageous) and no recall from dodge on this. What is dodge waiting for??? this is not a singular problem, it's massive. No report was filed for me. I just happened upon this site after i paid out of pocket to fix everything. I refuse to buy foreign garbage but i don't know that i will ever buy chrys/dodge/jeep again. I have plenty of documentation as does the dealer's repair shop but i'm not going to scan and upload a ream of files for nothing unless requested. (limit 5 files, lol)

I purchased this vehicle in november 2013, unaware that there was a recall on the tipm. Here it is a few months later and my vehicle breaks down. I had it towed to the dealership. They told me diagnostic and a check up was done and they couldnt find anything wrong. The vehicle started right up. I picked up my truck tuesday 02/18/2014. I live less then 2 miles from the dealership. When i got home the vehicle would not start. Called dealership back stated to wait 30 minutes and try to restart it. I ended up waiting an hour before it could start and took it back to ed voyles. They ran a diagnostic in front of me. The truck wouldnt start so they pushed it into repair shop. I recieved a call the next day stating it was the tipm. The charge was 1,030.00 and 117.00 for running test. I decided to research the vehicle only to find out there was a recall for that part. I called dodge @ 800-247-9753 on 02/20/2014 spoke to rep she stated there was a recall but my vehicle vin# was not apart of the recall. I informed her that they should have recalled all the vehicles because its the same exact issue. She stated they could not repair the vehilce and my warranty will not cover it.

My windshield wipers come on in and won't turn off. It happens when i turn on vehicle and wont turn off unless i pull out the fuse for them and leave the fuse out for while. At the same time the problem starts with the wipers, my blinkers won't work at all. I haven't been able to find a quick fix to get them to work again, unless i disconnect my battery and then reconnect it. That doesnt always fix the problem though. Both of these problems happen periodically, every so often and at random times. It's happened atleast 20 times now.

The car start, windsheild wipers come on by themself and vehicle will not go in gear. Have to remove the battery cable for car to go into gear.

Wipers stopped working 12/20/16.dealership said it was the wiper motor and it was $300.00 to repair.when the wiper motor replacement didn't work we were told it was the tipm and no recalls however previous years prior there where recalls.the tipm is going to cost $936.00 plus the repair cost looking at rough estimate of $1,500.it's fortunate i was in my driveway and not driving in a rain or snow storm.i have been without a vehicle for a week, a major inconvenience getting back and forth to work.not sure how an investigation was closed and denied that there were any safety issues with the tipm on the 2011 model.i have read many complaints concerning the tipm.

My vehicle intermittently will shut off or deny power to the fuel pump,it also will intermittently flash warning signs, and turn the wipers on indefinitely. The issues have all been traced back to the power module and more specifically nonservicable relays.i've contacted the dealership and chrysler and neither have an eta on the part should i order one. Mostly it happenswhile stationary but it caused the vehicle to stall on the highway twice. It stated doing this in fall of 2015 but i couldn't properly diagnosis it until march due to it being intermittent.

The horn sounds unexpectedly and usually when parked or moving slowly thru parking areas. Not only does this startle the driver, pedestrians could attempt to move away but into the vehicles path.there have also been incidents of the front door windows rolling down and the moonroof opening after the vehilce has been parked and secured. This presents a safety hazard to my wife who commutes to work and relies on her vehicle beening secure when she leaves after dark. Not to mention the risk of bad weather.these issues have occured at several random intervals and internet forums discuss the same and similar occurences. The date referenced is the most current horn incidence however my wife can't chase down a horn circuit to disable it and the horn is a required safety device.

Driving on 2 lane highway and had to brake hard as another vehicle cut me off. As soon as i did (brake) my suv shut off...all the lights flashed on the dash board. I immediately put the flashers on and hoped i didn't get rear-ended. I tried 3x to restart my 2011 dodge nitro- it finally started. I was near the dealership where i purchased the vehicle, i pulled in, told them what just happened. They hooked it up to the computer and reported 'no errors'. It was a near miss on a busy highway, and i am worried if this were to happen again. I don't feel safe in my dodge nitro. I was alone, but what if i had passengers, children, etc.? it is definitely a safety issue when you brake hard and your vehicle just shuts off, wouldn't move. This is incredible scary. Someone or more than one person is going to be killed when they get slammed from behind and pushed into on coming traffic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The contact owns a 2011 dodge nitro. The contact stated that while starting the ignition, the air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The failure also recurred whenever the vehicle was driven at any speed. There was a recall associated with the failure under nhtsa campaign id number 13v282000 (air bags , electrical system) and the contact's vin was included in the recall, however the parts were unavailable. The manufacturer was notified and they were unable to provide an expected date for the remedy part. The approximate failure mileage was 43,449.

After remote starting my vehicle which was parked in the driveway, the windshield wipers will not turn off.

Door lock module has failed posing a safety hazard as only one door has a key lock.rear hatch has become non functional as there is no way to release the latch as the electronic latch is inoperable and no manual key lock exists.the part is on national back order due from overwhelming failures.i have an infant and this poses serious risk to my children as i can only unlock the doors from inside.this needs to be a mandated recall to fix this issue. This happened after the vehicle was parked and started intermittently, and now has reached total lock system failure.this is more than a common problem with widespread 2011 dodge nitro owners.

I purchased my 2011 dodge nitro brand new from gulf gate dodge here in houston tx. Since then, i have had numerous issues with this truck starting in 2013. Last year, the water pump went out. This year the fuel injectors went out. In both occasions, i paid out of pocket to get the issues corrected. I have also called the dealership to ask for assistance, and have had no luck. They were probably as helpful as a grain of rice. I was not made aware that my repairs were covered under my powertrain warranty until the repairs were done, (how convenient). Now the most recent situation seems to be an electrical problem with the driver's side power master window switch (pmws). Back in aug 2014,the driver window went out. Then 10/17/2014(friday) the passenger back window went out. 10/20/2014, monday evening,my fianc went (around the corner) to run an errand and returned home with in about 15 minutes, screaming grab the ph!, and come out side the driver side door caught fire. Apparently, the (pmws) started to smoke and caught a fire. He told me he was unable to get out through the driver side, and crossed over to the passenger side. When i did make it outside to the truck. You could smell the burn, and see where the side door panel was melted. I reported this to chrysler on 10/21/2014. Today is 10/30/2014 and in spite of the "someone will contact you in 24hrs" statements, i am still waiting on the call. I am still really deeply disturbed with the thought that my kids father could have died, or even worse if it would have been either of my 2 small kids or my self. Since the incident with my truck. I have had to pay for a rental car, walk to the stores, walk my kids to the bus stop. I'm having to catch the metro bus in the we hours of the morning just to make it to work in time. I'm very sadden, upset, and confused with this. I will never purchase any chrysler vehicles again.

My suv keep having problems with the electrical issues, first it started with the radio and then my brake light keep bowing and we replaced the circuit board and bulps and within three days they blowed again and at night when i turn my lights on my brake lights or turn signals do not work,

I started a complaint before and the ref number is 10995543 but more has happened since. I have had several occasions were my car would accelerate on its own and not stop. I lost all control and it was like the car had a mind of its own. The car then would stall in middle of roads, intersections, ect, i was almost hit head on by a construction truck one time last year cause the car acceleratedwhile driving on a busy street, the car just accelerated, and wouldnt stop at a red light and the brakes would not work. The steering and everything seized up and then the car just shut down. A red lightning bolt popped up on the dash right before it died. This happened once in 2015, once in 2016, and twice in 2017. I was told over and over by ed shults of jamestown that it is not an electrical issue. Then i filed a report in june of 2017 cause it happened again, and again they just charged me and said it wasnt electrical. Now yesterday 9/27/2017 the vehicle did it again so i called ed shults and they wanted me to pay a daignosis fee again and to pay to have it towed 45 miles away, so i sent it to dave warren in jamestown ny instead and he is a dodge dealer, and they informed me today that it is electrical. I am so upset because this vehicle has almost killed me, its under warranty but the warranty doesnt seem to cover much of anything or even the diagnosis, and i am still paying on this vehicle that is costing so much in repairs. Please help.

My 2011 dodge seems to have an electrical issue. I am unable to use the defrost, or air. Each time i turn it on the engine begins to run hot. Also my windshield wipers turn on when i start my engine, but they were not engaged. This happens wen the vehicle is turned on and stationary as well as when in motion.

Was driving up mechanicsville turnpike in richmond,va. Heading home when vehicle cut off without any warning then had to try and start it back up after 3ctries , been complaining and getting brakes repaired since 2016 have been complaining about rear double clicking since 2016

The contact owns a 2011 dodge nitro. The contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v282000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no repair solution. The failure mileage was not available.

The first sign of issues was in september, one morning after my car had been locked all night like always, the car alarm on the vehicle just sounded. I ran outside and unlocked the car then locked it again and went inside, i went back and forth multiple times, each time after locking the vehicle the alarm would sound within five minutes, i proceeded to turn on the car, i had system warnings present stating my trunk was unlocked. I closed the trunk multiple times but the warning never subsided. I had to leave the car unlocked while parked until i took the car into the dealership later that day, the mechanics could not replicate the "gate ajar" warning, and the car alarm system problem couldn't be fixed that day. Two days later, keeping my car constantly unlocked, i took my nitro in for an evaluation, i left with a copy of the diagnosis, after the hour they hooked my engine up to their computer they still were unable to tell me what was wrong. The next day after 5 hours in the shop and $708.00 dodge reprogrammed the tipm and replaced my spark plugs. The car problems were solved for two days, then again my car alarm went off while locked, the gate ajar warning also comes on randomly. I made an appointment to bring it in one last time, the day before i brought it in i was driving at 65mph and the car just shut off without warning. I had to remove the keys and jumpstarted, the car was okay until later that evening when the dash computer started flashing random warnings while driving. Today my car was in the shop for 10 hours, they reprogrammed the tipm again, and the mechanics have no fix for my car. Every issue i am experiencing is that of the vehicles recalled in the chrysler tipm recall, dodge refuses to refund or replace my tipm and state that my vin was not affected. I am in a rental car for the night, tomorrow i have the option of taking the car home as is.

My vehicle stalled out due to a failure with a defective totally integrated power module.according to the dealer making the repair wires leading to the alternator and wires leading to the pcm were fried.the wiring issue appear to be a fire hazard.my first concern is this defective part has caused me about $2,000 in repairs from replacing the battery, 2 alternators and towing.my second concern is that in both situations the car died on me in traffic one on a six lane road and another time on the highway.i also had a similar incident on the highway when the motor died with only 30k miles on it and had to be replaced by the manufacturer.

Takata recall, vehicle start crankin w/o the key on the ignition, while driving vehicle stalls, gas smells and waste a ton of fuel. I have been taking the vehicle to the dodge dealer shop and they say that theirs nothing wrong with the vehicle. All electrical things goes crazy sometimes.

I started a complaint before and the ref number is 10995543 but more has happened since. I have had several occasions were my car would accelerate on its own and not stop. After getting a routine oil change on january 4, 2006. My car stop running while exiting the freeway and would not start again. Called the dealership after finding out that there was a recall on my car engine for january 11, 2016. He told me that the engine had been locked up after checking to make sure this was correct. To no avail the dealership will not honor the recall and i am still stuck without adequate transportation. Need this issue resolve so i can get back to work.

The car just turned off on its own as i was driving in a parking lot about 15 mph.

The heater core on my car has cracked and is leaking fuel into the driver side floor. This should not be happening on a car with 60000 miles that is only 3 years old. I was told that an average of 178 heater cores are being bought per week for dodge nitros. This seems like a very high number and i would hope a recall is being looked into.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge nitro. After starting the vehicle, the windshield wipers erroneously activated. During the failure, the turn signals became inoperable. The cause of the failures was not determined. Freedom dodge (815 east camp wisdom rd, duncanville, tx) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000. The vin was invalid.

The alarm goes off for maybe 1 to 4 seconds at any time it's parked and the horn blows time to time without me touching it while driving.

Engine stalls while parked or when accelerating from a full stop. It does the same while taking a curve and trying to accelerate when the curve ended. It feels like there is not enough gasoline coming from the tank and the engine starves. It does it when the engine has finished warming and all the time while driving. Vehicle has been in service for warranty because of this issue, but the problem returns as soon as 1 week after.

2011 dodge nitro gasoline fill spout and fuel tank is affected part. Every time i fill up the vehicle with gasoline it spews out of the gas tank all over me and the side of the suv. I've contacted dodge and they say there is no recall. I contacted the dealer i bought it from and they claimed to have fixed the issue and yet it persists. This is dangerous and hazardous to my health. There needs to be a recall fixing this issue.

There is an issue with the fuel tank/ valve in this model dodge vehicle. Every time i go to fuel up i have to guess the number of gallons it will take before i stop pumping in fuel, otherwise fuel will spill out all over the side and the ground. This happens every time i fuel up, no matter the gas station or type of pump or fuel grade. Spoke to chrysler llc. They stated that it was not on the recall for my year vehicle but it was for the 2007 - 2008 models. Why is it not on the recall!???!!! i was told i would have to pay for this issue out of pocket as it is not covered in my extended warranty. This is a factory defect. It is a safety concern and health issue, not to mention environmental. This needs to be on recall immediately. It is ridiculous that it is not already.

Regardless of which gas station/pump, during refuel gas will overflow and spray onto the ground, car, and operator. Vehicle always stationary.

When filling up at any fuel station, the gas pump will not automatically shut off and raw fuel will spill down the side of the vehicle and all over the ground. I have read on several forums that this is a problem on many chrysler suv's including the jeep liberty. It relates to a faulty valve inside the gas tank to prevent fuel from spilling out in a rollover situation. The amount of fuel spilled at every fill up is roughly 1/4 to 1/2 gallon. If standing next to the filler opening there is a good possibility that gas will spill on the person filling up, again creating a very dangerous situation.

Fuel overflows when filling truck with fuel.

Fuel overflows when filling up. This happens at every pump, so obviously is a problem with the shut-off in the vehicle's gas tank. I have read multiple posts online from people with the same problem in their dodge nitros. Vehicle is obviously stationary when filling up.

Takata recall , the air bag light turned and still on and off and made a whistle. I changed the gas cap 2 times and persist to turn on an advise on panel in the dash.

When fueling the vehicle gas will spew out after the pump has shut off. I've tried many different things to try and stop this issue. If i fill the tank very slowly it will sometimes not spew or it may cut down on the amount spewed, but it has not made the issue stop. This really is dangerous and ridiculous. From my online research into the issue, it appears to be common with this vehicle. Although an easy, definitive reason was not given. Please address this. Thank you.

After pumping fuel into my nitro about 1\2 -1 gallon of gas comes spraying out of the filler pipe. This is most likely caused by a valve in the gas tank that is there to prevent an explosion in the event of a rollover accident. The valve is defective, and thus the gas spills out, and my car could possibly explode in a rollover accident.

Tipm issues. Causing horn to go off while stationary and driving. Causing car to not start while stationary. And causing issues with the lights, wipers and more.

While driving on a city street, approximately 40 miles per hour, the drive shaft broke off completely. Towed to fowler jeep dodge on i-240 in oklahoma city. Service advisor indicated the heat shield became loose and caused the drive shaft to break. This is a recall issue for prior model year 2007-2008 dodge nitro. I called both chrysler and dodge hotlines relative to the n10 recall with faulty heat shields causing the drive shaft to spontaneously break. I was told it was up to the dealership area manager to decide if this issue would be included in the recall. The dodge hotline agent called the dealership and then informed me that the mechanical error would not be considered in the recall so the dealership would not even call the area manager. I had the car taken to a private mechanic who also said a faulty heat shield came loose, was rubbing on the drive shaft causing it to break; which is the exact n10 chrysler recall for 2007-2008 dodge nitro. As i have a model year 2011, obviously the issue had not been fixed.

I bought my nitro on dec 29, 2017 from haddad toyota in pittsfield mai have put 4648 miles on since driving it off the lot.i asked the service dept about the temp. Gauge when i went there for an auto start and they stated it was fine. Thursday the temp light lit up on the dash when i was almost 2 miles home, so i came home, parked it in the garage as usual but had to open the hood because of the smell, heat and what almost looked like smoke. I called haddads and left a message with the service dept. On monday, which is the next time i drove it, the engine light came on about 10 miles from my house. I decided to pull into my husbands work 8 miles away, but before i reached the driveway, the temp light came back on. We left the doge there overnight, as i was too scared to drive it home. Tuesday i called haddads several times for the service man that helped me when i was there last.he was not available. We have a reader and at work my husband plugged it in and got these codes1- p0740 ' torq converter clutch circuit/open2- p0732 -gear2 incorrect ratio3- p0868- transmission fluid pressure low so i immediate called again and the service dept. Told me i can drive it there 30 miles as long as either light wasn't blinking. So this afternoon, needless to say, i made it 3 houses down the road and the car gas pedal stopped working while in motion! i called aaa and i am having it towed to haddad toyota. I spoke with the service man pat and he is aware of my situation and is expecting the dodge tomorrow. He stated that it must be something with the car, definitely not me. I now have no vehicle. I left my car safely where it stopped moving. I am not sure if this car falls under the lemon law or vehicle recall. I an looking to resolve this car issue as soon as possible as i have health issues and shouldn't be without transportatandre' d'andrea

We purchased our dodge nitro 6/11/2011, noticed shifting problems right away but was tolded by dealer is was just stiff from being new. As time goes on the warmer the transmission gets the shifting between gears gets worse, mostly on cruise control. Some times with or without cruise on, it down shifts and sounds like the bottom is falling out from under the car.took back to dealer 4 times on the problem, and was told by transmission spec. Tech. At dealers that chrysler put a 4 liter transmission in a 6 liter car, and there was nothing they could do about that. And was told that it may or maynot get worse as time as by. I now have 7400 miles on the car and its geting worse and no one seems to care. No wonder chryslerneeded a bailout... To me the car is great except the transmission !!!!!

Transmission will not go into gear ,press on the gas and nothing happens, then there is a loud bang and vehicles starts to move slowly. Engine revs and then the transmissiontries to shift up and down. Vehicles bucks and no acceleration. Unsafe.taken to dealer three times unable to replicate problem. They adjusted the computer only a temporary fix. Back in the shop at this time.

Purchased 2011 nitro. High speed can communication bus, code u0002. Dash cluster faults all light upwith warning bell engaging when pulling off or turning. Traction control light on, engine light on, pull off from stop light and the vehicle is stuck in first gear. Hearing electric gear sound when vehicle is shut off.

The consumer owns a 2011 dodge nitro. The consumer stated that the transmission transfer case seal leaked. The consumer had the transmission transfer case seal replaced several times, but the failure recurred. The consumer took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and fitzgerald auto mall lexington park (2231 three notch road, lexington park, md 20653, 301-737-0088) to have the transmission transfer case seals replaced, but the failure could not be corrected. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 20,747.*as

The heat shielding underneath the vehicle dislodged in a few places causing it to rub against the drive shaft. It wasn't loud so i didn't notice it until i was pulling out of a parking lot and my drive shaft broke in 2 pieces. I backed out of my parking place and when i shifted from reverse to drive, it snapped. This was recalled on certain 2007-2008 dodge nitros, but not on the 2011. Had i been in motion and not at a stand still, it could have been very bad.

Transfer case has stripped out twice since i have owned the vehicle.i bought it used and two months after i bought it was the first incident.powertrain warranty repaired it, but now it has happened again. Routine maintinence has been performed on the transfer case and differentials. No clue as to why it keeps stripping out.

The tpc power box that has all the fuses in it. Is malfunctioning causing thewipers four way flasher and horn ,headlights chimes, 44 switch and all the dash sensors to go off. Which is causing the transmission to studded when shifting it is a major peoblem

I bought my 2011 nitro brand new...list of problems: drivers side seat belt keeps hanging up as well as the drivers seat have hard time adjusting.... My suv keep having problems with the electrical issues, first it started with the radio and then my brake light keep bowing and we replaced the circuit board and bulps and within three days they blowed again and at night when i turn my lights on my brake lights or turn signals do not work,

For the past year or so the brake pedal goes to the floor usually while braking and hitting a bump.brakes will eventually go back to normal sometimes after a few minutes and sometimes after a few hours. Pumping the brake pedal does not help. Unsafe because never know when it's going to happen and braking power is greatly reducing during these events. This happens every few months or so.

The air bag lights comes on and off constantly.

When vehicle is in motion on a city street and hits a bump or rut and i hit the brakes, brake pedal goes all the way to the floor.

For the second time my master cylinder has gone out. No warning or noise at all; my breaks when pressed just go straight to the floor. I replaced it the first time and in less than 3 weeks it has already gone out again. I was driving when this happened the first time in the rain going down hill, second time on the interstate.

The brakes give out when hitting a pothole, sometimes it just goes out.

While driving, when brakes are applied after hitting a pothole or indention in the road, the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor.the vehicle eventually stops.brakes will eventually come back up to normal position.this has happened exiting the freeway, and on city streets.

The car start, windsheild wipers come on by themself and vehicle will not go in gear. Have to remove the battery cable for car to go into gear.

For several days it turns on the dash light airbag and intermittently the alert sounds indicating the problem with the airbag, when the car is in motion, across the street or in the road.

The door locks quit working and then they jam. The inside handle breaks and the lock knob wont move up so your trapped inside so these no way to get out without climbing over the seats. If you were to cash and there was only one way out of the car it better not be the doors that have stopped working.

The interior door handle broke. I have been researching forums and it has happeneda lot. I also called dodge customer service and they gave me your number.

After dealership removed the emblem from the steering wheel due to the recall, the horn would start to blow on its own for no apparent reason and stay on.it would shut off and then a few moments later start to blow again.the dealerships answer was to disconnect my horn and send me on my way.i am now driving in a vehicle that will not pass the required state inspection.it is also a safety hazard!!the dealership informed me that until the parts came in to finish the recall on my vehicle i would have to drive my vehicle this way.this is a serious safety issue!!

Date of incident: 05202021 speed:vehicle parked/driving 30 mph mileage: 110000vehicle horn sounded numerous times on own.vehicle parked and key not in ignition.vehicle also sounded while in on position at stop light and in on position while driving 30 mph.vehicle does this on own without prompting and can only be stopped by disconnection of the battery.

The alarm goes off for maybe 1 to 4 seconds at any time it's parked and the horn blows time to time without me touching it while driving.

The wind shield wipers come on and wont turn off and none of the lighting controls work , high beam, on /off, dash controls... This happens randomly.

Found an issue with the internal check valve in the fuel tank & filler neckthe evap system is operating correctly & not restricting the filling & vent system recommended replacing the fuel tank, fuel filler neck & gas cap

I drive a 2011 dodge nitro and i went on a trip and on my way over i started having problems with the cruise control it would accelerate and decelerate and it smelled like raw gas, and as i would stop at a stop sign the vehicle would start misfiring. Then on my way back i continued having the same problem and another complication arised my air condition stopped blowing air and all the lines were frozen.

Started suv sounded very loud. Put in park sounded better. Started to drive and suv accelerated on its own, not sure how fast it would of gotten up to, only way to slow down, step on break with both feet. I was close to home so just wanted to get home. Turned into driveway unable to stop in time drove right through garage door. Luckily no one was hurt , garage door demolished, car dents and many scratches. Very dangerous situation.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no warranty coverage because the defect had not originated from the engine. In addition, the manufacturer stated that there was no recall for the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.

The windshield wipers work erratic. They will not shut off or will not turn on at times. When driving down the road the wipers may just start working without being turned on. Also when driving down the road and it starts to rain the wipers may not turn on at times.
