We were driving like every morning to our work and when we try to pass the intersection we have to stop on a yield sign to let the other traffic pass. When i try to hit the accelerate all the lateral air bags exploded without reason and the1st thing we thought was that someone hit us. I try to move the car and the car wasn't running at all also i cannot stop it so i have to turn in off. We go out of the car to see if we got hit but the car didn't have anything so we try to see under the car and all the drive shaft was cracked in half! the sheriffs come to the scene and they can't believe that the car was in that condition if we didn't have a wreck or anything! they say that everything looks like a safety recall, we did a research online and was right my car has a safety recall since 2013 and they never send me a letter or call me to let me know about it! i drove that car everyday to work,to pick up my kids from school etc..etc.. And i can't believe what happened i could die if my car wasn't stop! i was very lucky that i was on a yield sign when everything happen. Now my car insurance didn't want to pay anything because they found out about the recall and told me that the agency has to pay for everything because that was a manufacturer problem! but the dodge don't want to pay or fix anything they also have the nerve to told me that my car didn't had a safety recall at all even when the mopar page say that my car did had a recall! now i'm without car and dealing with the expenses of towing my car etc..etc..

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro. While the contact drove in rush hour traffic at approximately 25 mph a vehicle crashed into the left front end of her vehicle. The drivers frontal air bag deployed. The contact sustained burns to her hand, arm, and legs. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility. The gwinnett county police department report number is 10-058161. The manufacturer will be contacted. The failure and current mileages were 52,000.

I was taking a left turn at an intersection traveling approximately 5mph. At the completion of the turn i heard a loud bang and the side impact airbags deployed. Upon inspecting the vehicle it was found that the drive shaft had twisted and fallen out of the transmission. The casing along the top of the nitro cracked, and caused damage to the interior headliner and windshield. The car would not go into drive or park indicating damage to the transmission as well. Upon inspection by two separate body shops (one being a dealership) it was determined that there was damage to the drive shaft that resulted in the incident. At this time the warranty is in the process of replacing the drive shaft.

Side curtain airbag failed to deploy in the2007 dodge nitro during a passenger-side impact accident.my wife sustainedfacial laceration, numerous broken ribs, and internal organ damage.the impact point was the passenger side door and part of the rear quarter panel.

I was at a stop light and when the light turn green i was about to go when i heard a loud bang and the side air bags deployed. My truck never moved.the drive shaft completely broke in half ,it looks like when i was about to take off the drive shaft broke , shot up and hit the floor board and that caused the air bags to deploy. The drive shaft looks like it twisted. I haven't fixed the vehicle yet and im hoping dodge will cover the expenses. Luckily i wasn't in the highway because it could have caused my truck to flip.

I bought a 2007 dodge nitro. I noticed after i bought it there was hesitationwhen it got to about 40 mph. I also experienced while sitting at a light that the rpm would drop way down and the car would almost stall then rpm would come right back up. My heat quit working along with the door locks and the washer fluid would not spray out. I checked the fuse and one was blown so i changed it, that one blew as well and all power to the car was lost. Come to find out the tipm needs to be replaced. They say these are supposed to last the life time of vehicle. I am lucky my car didn't catch fire as a result of this. I took it to the dealer and there were actually wires melting under the fuse box. There should definitely be a recall on this. I have owned a dodge ram before and loved it that's why i went with dodge again but nothing but problems in the 4 months that i have owned this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the speed suddenly reduced to 25 mph and failed to respond to the accelerator pedal. Vehicle shuts off while driving.

2007 dodge nitro with serious electrical problems. Consumer states that the vehicle is having problems with the transmission and has stalled due to electrical problems. They want a full refund for the vehicle.the consumer stated while driving, the vehicle lost voltage. The instruments dropped down unreasonably once the warning lights illuminated. The headlights started dying out.the gear shift had to be wiggled to get it to move, there was a knocking noise while going from first to second gear.the dealer informed the consumer an internal short had occurred with the 12 volt battery. The consumer also stated the steering would drift, there was abnormal traction and the doors would lock up. The abs was not working correctly because the vehicle would drift while driving.the consumer stated the dealerships were using 2006 jeep liberty software to troubleshoot the problems with his vehicle. The manufacturer did not send the specific software to update his vehicle.the manufacturer agreed to a settlement rather than continuing the arbitration process. Updated 05/20/08.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2. While the vehicle was parked and the contact attempted to unlock the vehicle with the key fob, the two rear doors and well and the front passenger door failed to unlock without warning. The contact also stated that the truck failed to open using the key fob. All three doors had to be unlocked manually from the interior of the vehicle. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

Was stopped at a red light and when turned green pressed gas and the drive train exploded upwards. Drive train completely mangled. If were going down road likely could of got killed along with my daughter. Dodge not taking responsibility. Brought to acadiana dodge in lafayette, la.

I stopped and pulled over to move my seat andtruck shut down in the middle of the street, wipers, horn and lights going haywire for 15-20 minutes removed the battery cables truck kept running and removed the key from the ignition still kept running, i proceded to drive toa gas station for help by a mechanic and stopped in a vacant lot and the vehicle finally stopped making noise. Turned the vehicle off and tried to start it and nothing no crank over or start, so i have been stranded since christmas day on the road and now with no vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2. While driving approximately 10 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted and resumed normal operation. The failure recurred twice. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v291000 (electrical system). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the totally integrated power module was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

There is an electrical issue with the control module has to be - strange things keep happening, door locks are activating by themselves causing headlights to stay on and running down battery and other times its door locks won't work at all with or without using key fob, radio is working sporadically and making strange loud noises, there's even a whistle sound coming form the fuse box at times, the air bag light comes on and off at will.i've read where a lot of nitro's are doing this and it seems to be some type of control module.this really needs to be addressed before i have an accident and can't get out of my vehicle.

In february 2007i bought a new dodge nitro 4x2. On june 13, 2007after accelerating from a stop, going about 40 mph, the car suddenly surged and then lost all power. The steering wheel locked, the radio and fans shut off all the while still coasting, then,in about3 seconds the car then suddenly came back on, the dash board lit up and the car acted like nothing had happened. I immediately pulled off the road, when i could steer again, and shut the car off.it has been at the shop ever since. The mechanic at the dodoge dealership says that the car was running perfect for him, and they can't locate the problem.i have researched the internet and this wa s becoming a common occurence with nitro owners. Chrysler needs to do a recall on the car or remedy the situation immediatelybefore any more injuries or worse yet, deaths occur.

For over the last year my car has been locking and unlocking on its own . My horn had been sounding off even while im driving without me utilizing the horn and even when im at home without the alarm on.i also have had repaet issue with the headlight and taillights because the wires keep burning out .

Doors lock and unlock at will - causing headlights to come on during the night which has killed my battery several times... So i had to take the battery out of the key fob which means the security system can't be set.. The radio is buzzing and screeching at will - works sometimes and then it won't but restarting the vehicle usually fixes this... The air bag light comes on and off at will and even stays on most of the driving time... The gas cap warning light comes on and off at will - have replaced the gas cap twice in the past year and it continues to give this warning... - i've researched this on the internet and there are many nitro owners having the same problem... Does someone have to get hurt in order for dodge to take responsibility for changing the tipm in their vehicles????

While driving with the cruise control set at 65, the car lost all power and the engine stopped revolving.then, all warning lights on the dashboard illuminated.not knowing what to do, i allowed the car to decelerate.then, as quickly as it lost power, it regained power.this happened on the causeway bridge between new orleans and mandeville. The bridge has no shoulders to speak of.i immediately drove the vehicle to the dealer.they kept the car, but could not duplicate the problem; thus, nothing was fixed.i have checked this problem out on dodge nitro internet forums, and others are experiencing this also.

On 2 separate occasions while driving between 35 to 50 mph the electrical system just ceased generating power for about 5 seconds and then all instrument panel indicators would illuminate simultaneously, only for vehicle to gain electrically power and continue as if nothing ever happened.

I was riding down the highway and the dashboard lights all came on and the vehicle powered down and then started up.there have been multiple times that thishas happened. The last time it happened was today 06/14/2012 and the suv stalled and almost caused a wreck in heavy traffic.speed was around 30 miles per hour.i went online and discovered that there had been a recall for the 2007 dodge nitro with the very same problembut i have been told mine was not covered under the recall by my local chrysler dodge dealership.do i have any recourse?i was told there were two other recalls related to my vehicle after i provided my vin and then during another conversation i was told there was only one.a trip to my mechanic indicated that there were no codes showing up when he checked it with his meter.i purchased my nitro from another individual and the warranty was still on it as it only had 16,000 miles on it.it currently has about 57,000 miles on it.

Had my car into dealer 2 times for the same problem.it shuts down while in motion.have had 5 incidents of stalling.the 5th time wasthe same thing, it completely shut down.unable to steer and brake.i ran off the road, through a chain link fence, down an imbankment into somebody's back yard, the only thing stopping my vehicle was a large car trailer.i was slightly injured (bruising).it is my opinion that dodge has a serious safety issue here, that they are not addressing.the dealer has made failed attempts to fix the problem by replacing the torque convertor and the clk spring.i now have a brand new crashed car.i could have killed someone or myself.searching the your nhtsa site, i have found 32 complaints for this stalling problem on all dodge nitro models listed on this site.why hasn't nhtsa insisted ona recall of these vehicles or at least a warning to the drivers, this appears to be negligence on your part.please contact me as to why no action has been taken.

Vehicle just died going down the road electrical quit, engine quite, power steering and power brakes quit working.

The driver side break light and reverse light has had to be replaced too frequently. Now the gear shift - diag code u0103 seems to cause the loss of communication of the gear position. That only allows the vehicle to only travel about 20mph and approx 3000 rpm , which can be very dangerous if there is a unexpected slow down on the highway

The car will die while traveling at high speeds on interstate. All dashboardlights illuminated, and then the enginecut off and then come back on. The car was inoperable while this happened.

In interstate rush hour traffic on may 23while going about 70 mph the engine shut off. All lights came on the dashboard, and the car was out for about 5 seconds, then ,it came back on. The cars behind me had to take evasive action. The second time this happened was on june 12 and it stalled going about 10 mph. This time had to put the car in park and restart it.the dealer checked the car and found nothing wrong with it. By reading all the other complaints there was something wrong and neededto be fixed before there wasa death.

Numerous times over the past few months i have pulled out of my driveway or out of a parking lot and my vehicle has stopped running, forcing me to pull over quickly before my steering locks up,which then requires me to put the vehicle in park and restart it.the vehicle was taken to my local dodge dealership on april 5th,2012 and on april 6th,2012 i was told they could not find a "code" to explain the issue and unless they kept it for several days to attempt to duplicate the problem there was nothing they could do.the vehicle actually stalled pulling out of a parking lot on the way to the dealership at a low speed. The vehicle does not stall at red lights while idling, only when pulling out onto the roadway.i have great concerns that i will be rear ended in an accident if this issue continues.

When filling up the gas tank, after pump automatically shuts off, approximately 1/2 gallon of gas overflows. This has happened 3 times. The last time, gas was propelled into my face and all over my clothes. Research indicates that this is due to a defect in the valve that prevents gas leakage during/after a rollover crash. This is worrisome in and of itself, but especially when combined with the other 2 problems i've had with this vehicle. About 2 years ago, i was going to exit the driver's seat when the interior door handle broke off in my hand. The master switch for the power windows stopped working within a few days of that. I am worried that i can be in an accident in which the car catches fire due to the defective valve, and i will not be able to exit my car if the door handle breaks off again and the windows won't roll down. I have been told that the fix for this valve is to get the gas tank replaced, at my own expense. Also, when i went to the dealer to order my door handle, they already had some in stock, which indicates, to me, that this is a common problem and yet chrysler has not recalled it. The shoddy construction of this vehicle combined with the lack of assistance from chrysler has ensured that i will never purchase another one of their products again.

The vehicle would not start had to be towed in and it took 2 days to get the part.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2. While driving approximately 40 to 45 mph, the engine seized without warning. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the electronic module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

Dodge nitro engine dying, including loss of all electrical components.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro. The contact stated that the doors failed to lock and unlock independently. The problem recurred on various occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My car shuts off and then turns back on while in motion. The car will completely turn off including all electrical components then turns back on. When it turns back on all the lights on the dash like the abs and srs lights light up and turn off as like if i just started the car. This has happened to me three times. The third time the car did not turn back on (i think because i was almost stopped the other 2 times i was going between 30-65 mph and the engine started back up automatically). I had to put it in park and restart it the 3rd time. It has been to the dealer 2-3 times for this issue and they are unable to diagnose a problem. Therefore i have notified the manufacturer and you the nhtsa in hopes of resolving the problem. There are several other owners with the same problem that can be found at http://www.nitroforumz.com/showthread.php?t=18thank you.

Dodge nitro 2007 started honking randomlyand sometimes at night car off or driving. It got to point where people came up to me to tell me if i had a problem i went to mechanic called dealer was told part is in back order.

I have a 2007 dodge nitro r/t with the 4.0.my nitro is stalling and not in good places, on the freeway, in traffic. I feel this is not safe. I want daimler chryslerto fix this before i or someone has a accadent.

Breaks have gone outtwice now and i have been told its because of me running with my emergency brake on. Not true and i have had to replace all breaking system. Cruise control does not work while on hwy took it to dealership 3 times and they said it works. I have had electrical issues with window motors and wipers along with cruise control

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle would lose power and then accelerate.the contact received recall notice number 07v291000 (electrical system).the dealer performed the recall repair, however, the failure continued to occur.as of july 24, 2007, the vehicle has not been repaired.the current mileage was 9,000 and failure mileage was 7,500.updated 02-01-08.the consumer stated the defect happened on three separate occasions. Updated 02/01/08

I was traveling up the highway when all of my service lights illuminated and i lost complete engine power. I attempted to get my vehicle to the turning lane but it was difficult because of loss of power steering. I got it to the turning lane and tried to restart it several times. This lasted about 15-20 mins to no avail. My vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who could find nothing wrong with the vehicle. I then took my vehicle to the local chrysler dealership in the next town where they also could not duplicate my incident. The kept my vehicle for 2 weeks and still found nothing wrong, no codes or anything. My brake lights were also staying illuminated even after they unhooked the brake light switch. The dealership contacted the chrysler engineers for more help in diagnosing the problem. The engineers stated that they were 90% sure that it was the tpim (main computer). The same tpim was recalled in 2007 and was supposedly fixed. The tpim was not replaced due to uncertainty of the engineers and the dealership. I have had this vehicle since april of 2007. The vehicle stalled again on october 2, 2013, and october 8, 2013. On october 8, 2013 the vehicle would not restart for 10 minutes and was once again on the highway traveling at a rate of speed of 50 mph.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2.the contact has received his second recall notice since purchasing the vehicle.the first notice was in regards to the electronic module that can cause the vehicle to crash without warning.the second notice is in regards to the abs locking up and stopping the vehicle without warning.the notice advised the contact to call nhtsa.the current and failure mileages were 14,413.

My dodge nitro has shut off twice while the vehicle was in motion. This can be a potentially dangerous and deadly situation.after reading the dodge nitro forums/blogs, there are a lot of people having the same problem and dealers are unable to find a problem.

Car has stalled three times while driving and one time did not restart which resulted in it being towed. The horn and driver's side lock have broken. I advised the dealership of my safety concerns regarding the stalling and also low rpm's. Car is now at dealership for 6th time and they currently do not know the problem.car has approx. 8000 miles. First stall happened around 1000 miles.

For over the last year my car has been locking and unlocking on its own . My horn had been sounding off even while im driving without me utilizing the horn and even when im at home without the alarm on.i also have had repaet issue with the headlight and taillights because the wires keep burning out .

When backing up vehicle hesitates . When speeding up on the highway vehicle bumps like transmission is coming out of case like it is pushing car forward. When stopping at high speeds vehicle steering wheel shakes and car squeals coming from left front brakes. While driving down the road vehicle pulls to the right. When at a stop light rpms go all the way down like vehicle is ready to stall.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle slowed down and stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to ray laethem chrysler dodge jeep ram (18001 mack ave, detroit, mi 48224,(313) 884-7210), but was not diagnosed due to the cost. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was unknown.

On december 06, 2012 was stopped at a red light. Light turned green and i proceeded to accelerate, i then hear a loud thump and veh shut down. I looked under the veh only to find that my drive shaft had exploded and broke in two, falling to the roadway. Looked like a bomb went off under my veh.see that this is s recurring problem with this model. Why is their no recall??? if i were going at st higher rate of speed could of resulted in injury or lost of life. Why is dodge not taking responsibility??

I purchased a 2007 dodge nitro slt 4x2 on february 23rd, 2007 from san marcos auto outlet.since buying it has stalled out while driving 4 times.it has stalled out at lights, parking lots, etc. While driving.however, it got much worse as on the fourth time it stalled out at 70 mph on the highway and than came back on.my daughter and i were very fortunate to not get seriously injured.this could have been fatal.we took it into the dealer 4 times and they can not get it to fault the same way.we refuse to put ourselves at risk in this vehicle and we told the dealer we want our money back.it is still sitting on his lot with no resolution at this time.we are working on this situation still with the owner.we have no plans of taking the car back.

I have owned my nitro for 3 months and have experienced complete electrical failure on 2 occasions.the first time was about 6 weeks after purchase.i had just left my driveway and was going less than 15 mph.i had to coast to the curb and turn the key to restart it.it happened again yesterday.i had my cruise control set at 75 mph around 9 pm.my headlights, ac and radio were also in use at the time.the car lost all power...all lights went off, the engine stopped.thankfully no one was behind us or my family and i could have been killed.within 5 seconds it restarted as if nothing had happened.all the lights on the dashboard illuminated as if i had just started it.the only thing that did not come back on was the cruise control.i will advise the dealer first thing monday morning, but from reading the other owners posts, it doesn't appear they will know how to fix it.

Driving at steady rate of 70mph on interstate. Vehicle lost all power and speed dropped to 40mph. Power came back on a few seconds later.

I am the owner of a 2007 dodge nitro.since i have owned the vehicle it has died once, and a second time all the service lights came on, and the vehicle bogged down like it was going to die. The second incident was scary, as i was on a 55 mph highway going up on a small incline with cars behind me and no shoulder to pull off. Neither dodge nor the dealership had any clue on the problem or how to fix it.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2.the contact stated that the engine would stall at any time without warning.the manufacturer was notified, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle.the dealer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 37,000 and the current mileage was 38,000.

A/c on vehicle, 2007 dodge nitro r/t not working properly.blows cold air at times then to cool or warm air then kicks back in to cold air.i have to leave it on max at all times to keep cabin cold.my freon also completely depleats every year.dealers service dept.'s (two) can't find any problems.no leaks and they haven'treplaced parts on the a/c unit this year.no recalls?????

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2.while driving 70 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning.approximately five seconds later, it restarted and the contact was able to continue driving.the dealer did not inspect the vehicle.three weeks later, while driving 10 mph, the failure recurred.the contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving.the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure.the current mileage is 3,880 and failure mileage was 2,500.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x2.while driving between 60-65 mph, the transmission pulls, stutters, vibrates, and shakes.the vehicle jerks when the contact depresses the accelerator pedal.the vehicle also has difficulty shifting into the correct gear.the vehicle has been taken to the dealer more than ten times for the transmission.the o-ring has been replaced, the computer has been adjusted, and finally the torque converter was replaced; however, the failures persist.daimler chrysler stated that nothing could be done.the cable cord inside the rear passenger side door snapped when the window was rolled down.the contact was informed that the window could not be replaced until after the holidays.while driving between 25-30 mph, the luggage rack holder on the driver side snapped off.the current mileage is 16,595 and failure mileage was 400. Updated 01-29-08.

For over the last year my car has been locking and unlocking on its own . My horn had been sounding off even while im driving without me utilizing the horn and even when im at home without the alarm on.i also have had repaet issue with the headlight and taillights because the wires keep burning out .

When filling up the fuel tank, gas overflows and does not get shut off automatically when the tank is full.this happens at any gas station, at any pump, so it is definitely with the vehicle itself.it started a while ago, but has gotten more frequent and more gas spilling.currently it happens every time and is a fair amount of gas.any static electricity spark hitting that spilled fuel and traveling up into the gas tank would be disastrous.there are dodge nitro forums where tons of other owners talk about the problem too.on top of the environmental impact of thousands of nitro owners spilling fuel, this is a serious safety issue, and chrysler needs to issue a recall immediately.

I have a 2007 dodge nitro and after filling up my gas tank the nozzle clicked and there comes fuel gushing out all over the place. It happens every single time i fill my tank with gas.

Fuel burps out of my 2007 dodge nitro every time i fill up with fuel.this is due to a faulty valve in the tank that is designed to shut off fuel in the event of a roll over.dodge is aware of this problem and needs to offer a recall.this is a dangerous and environmentally irresponsible problem.

Every time i fill up my 2007 dodge nitro with gas it overflows causing fuel to be spilled everywhere. Dealership said it must be the pump, but it happens at every pump. The fuel is starting to discolor the paint.

When ever i fill up my 2007 dodge nitro with gas. The fuel shoots out the filler after the pump clicks off.

When fueling up my dodge nitro a couple weeks ago, an annoying problem began to surface. Rather than cutting off when full, the gas would overflow. This occurred every time that i fueled up no matter where i was fueling. This is due to the malfunction of a valve in the gas tank. Upon researching, i have found that this is more than just an annoyance, and ruining the paint, but it is dangerous. If my vehicle were to be involved in a roll over accident the malfunction of this valve will cause the leakage of fuel and possible explosion of the vehicle. I also found out that in order to solve the problem, the entire gas tank needs to be replaced. I believe this to be a major safety issue and believe that dodge should issue a recall on the part.

I bought this vehicle used in october of 2011, so i only know the problem started with my first gas tank fill up.after each and every "fill up"several ounces of gasoline leak from the tank area...this does not come from the hole where the gas pump nozzle goes, it seems to be leaking from beneath that point.this is problematic because the entire bottom left portion of my vehicle is bathed in gasoline.upon researching this problem i have found that many other dodge nitro owners are experiencing the same problem.my gas attendant also has told me that this seems to be a problem with the dodge nitro and a few models of the jeep.his suggestion is to never fill my tank to full again.that is not a solution, there needs to be a recall issued and dodge needs to take care of this problem, now!

While refueling gas will overflow onto the truck and ground. This happens every time i refuel now. It does not matter how much gas is in the tank, what gas station, time of day, winter or summer, the result is the same fuel overflow.

The gas nozzle does not cut off when the tank is full, therefore causing large amounts of gas to spill on ground.

Upon filling up gas tank, i have had gas shoot out at me from the filling nozzle. I have tried to remedy this situation by slowing down as i am coming close to filling my gas tank at 18 gallons and i still have gas pour out of the vehicle and onto the floor. When filling gas tank you can hear gurgling sounds coming from the fuel fill nozzle. Major concern of fire hazard as well as possibly being splashed in the face with gasoline unexpectedly for other buyers.

Filled my gas tank up today and the gas kept coming out once it was full. It had spilled all over me, my car, and the ground.

Vehicle just died going down the road electrical quit, engine quite, power steering and power brakes quit working.

Each time i fill with fuel it spits out about a gallon. Very bad.................

Occasionally, when i am filling up my tank with gas (regardless of the gas station) the auto shutoff mechanism will not work and a moderate amount of gasoline will overflow out of the tank and onto the car/street.

At full tank the pump shutoff fails every time and fuel spills from filler when pumping at any pump at any rate causing fuel to run down the side of the vehicle and puddle on the ground.i have seen more complaints of this than most other problems.this is a dangerous and common manufacturing defect that should be dealt with by a recall.

When fueling the car, the auto shutoff does not work and fuel spews out of the tank.this is most likely caused by a valve in the gas tank that is there to prevent an explosion in the event of a rollover accident. The valve is defective, and thus the gas spills out, and the car could possibly explode in a rollover accident.i had taken it to a dealership about a year ago and all they would do is clean out the filter.that did not resolve the problem.

The gas tank doesn't stop the pump when it's full resulting in gas overflowing everywhere.

I was driving at 45ph and all of a sudden my cars wheeled locked up and i came to a sudden stop with my wheels laying down rubber but i did not crash. When my car was towed to the garage the conclusion was that the rearend seal was leaking and all the fluid came out of the rearend and the gears locked up.

Vehicle shutters or surges between 38-50 mph.i have taken to two dealerships and neither had repaired it.i have had the torque converter replaced and computer reprogrammed and nothing has worked.it is still at the second dealership for them to try to figure out what is wrong with it. They were going to put a recording device on the vehicle to see if they could detect the problem.

Was stopped at a red light and when turned green pressed gas and the drive train exploded upwards. Drive train completely mangled. If were going down road likely could of got killed along with my daughter. Dodge not taking responsibility. Brought to acadiana dodge in lafayette, la.

About three weeks ago on 05 december 2011, i was driving my 2007 dodge nitro 4x2 until i came to a stop at a red traffic light.i had my blinker on and was ready to make a right turn as soon as the light turned green.when the light turned green i lightly stepped on the accelerator when a loud explosion was heard and felt in the vehicle undercarriage.the vehicle's drive shaft had exploded upwards, hitting the undercarriage and then dropping to the floor.the vehicle lost complete power and stopped immediately after the driveline fell off.my daughter and niece felt the hit in greater magnitude as they were sitting in the back seat.my insurance covered the wrecker and transported the vehicle to the nearest dodge dealership.the dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty heatshield that fell off the undercarriage and was rubbing against the aluminum driveshaft.since the heatshield is made of aluminum and fiberglass, the rubbing of aluminum against aluminum has a cutting effect that caused the driveshaft to cut open and then explode cutting it in half.luckily, i was making a turn going no more than 10 to 15 miles an hour.had i been driving on a highway this issue would have likely caused a fatal and catastrophic accident.there is no recall that i know of.my extended warranty does not cover the repair as it is not covered under the policy.my car insurance does not cover the repairs as it is considered a mechanical failure and not a collision.dodge should conduct an investigation on the cause of the heatshield coming off from the undercarriage, and recall vehicles to prevent any future catastrophic events.

I am living in puerto rico and i have a 2007 dodge nitro, which has a recall, under body transmission tunnel shield 05/24/2013incomplete i went to cabrera motors where i purchased the car so i can get the recall fixed. I went on july 11, 2013, and was told the part would be in2 weeks. Here we are august 20, 2013 and still no part. I've called manytimes and every time i call i'm told the part is not in. I need my vehicle to move and i have my family in it. If a car is recalled it is due to a safety concern. Please help.

Our 2007 dodge nitro has a recallon it (n10) i have been trying to get it fixed since late june/2013 to early july/2013 with no prevail it is making a horrible noise and get worse as time goes on. I have called chrysler recall department asking to get a loaner until the parts are available to fix this problem because i have been advised that it is very dangerous to drive.this is my only means of transportation. Everytime i call the dealership they say they are still waiting on the parts to repair it.any suggestions on what to do next would be greatly appreciated. Approximately 2 weeks after i purchased my new vehicle it began to run poorly. It feels as though it is missing out, transmission slipping or losing power??? i am not sure exactly what the problem is and the service people are not sure exactly what is wrong and they do not know what to do to correct the problem. My vehicle is a 2007 and should not run as poorly as it does. They have reprogrammed something on the computer twice i think from what they tell me. The problem seems to be okay for a few days and it starts running poorly again. There is a recall on my vehicle, it is recall number g25 to reprogram tipm engine stalling, this may help the problem but i am not sure yet. I feel that dodge should stand behind their vehicles. I paid too much for a new vehicle for it to not run properly. I also had a service tech tell me that they were just not as sensitive to the problem that i am having. I hope you will be able to help with this problem. I have also noticed that sometimes when i start the vehicle it does not start properly. It starts but idles roughly and this has done this when it is not cold outside.

The vehicle when in drive at any speed does a jerking motion forward as if it is slipping gears or losing power to the transmission. The sensation is worse, physically moving my body forward, when driving at higher speeds, 60-70. I know the problem was not due to "bad gas" because the car was idling relatively well. It was not electrical due to the fact that you could release your foot from the gas and "coast" and the sensation stopped. I followed up with chrysler to confirm no other recalls had been issued on the car. When i brought the car to the dealer i told them i thought it was the torque converter. This first time they had the car for about 3 days. When i picked it up they said nothing was wrong with the torque converter, they simply updated the transmission via the computer. The first time i drove the car which wason the freeway- assuming it was fixed, the problem occurred immediately but more severe, causing my body to hit the steering wheel. It went back to the garage again, this time magically it was the torque converter and a seal. I got the car back, first time i drove it.. Still is doing the same thing. I cant drive my kids it, its not safe to drive on the freeway. It is an accident waiting to happen. Twice i was almost rear ended. I am forced to drive it to maintain my job but will only drive in the slow lane so that i have some kind of "out"it is now at the garage for the third time. The dealer is finally paying for the loaner. Even if they say they fixed it there is no way i can trust the vehicle. I have contacted chrysler but have received no communication from them regarding this hazardous condition.

I purchased a dodge nitro in october of 2006.since then i have had it stall out on me, on the highway, twice and re-start automatically.it's pretty unsafe to be driving a car at 80mph on the interstate and have it stall out and restart on you for no apparent reason.i know i am not the only nitro owner who has had this issue.when i explained to the service department at the dealership about this they said since they cannot recreate the problem they cannot diagnose it.i have not called chrysler yet, but i am about to.i don't want to die, or cause the death of others, because my car is malfunctioning beyond my control.something needs to be done about this.

Between first and second gear, there is a shudder in either the transmission or torque converter.this is a clunking noise that most prevalently appears in stop-and-go traffic.i have argued with my dealer and with dodge for a remedy to this, and they both refuse to acknowledge this problem.it first appeared around january of 2007 and continues.also, i have previously contacted your office regarding the stalling issue of my nitro.on at least two occasions, my nitro has stalled while traveling between 50 and 60 mph.the car loses all power and all lights illuminate on the dashboard.i have received a safety recall for this item, but i have no confidence in the repairs performed by dodge.i believe this vehicle is an unreasonably dangerous product.

A few years ago i had to replace the air conditioning unit.last year i had to replace the rack and pinion.this year i've had to replace the alternator and the check engine light is on.i currently have around 165k miles on the truck.the check engine light stays on, now they have to do the smoke test and i'm afraid of the outcome/costs. :(i also have smaller broken things, the glove box hinge broke, the tire sensor has had to be replaced at least 3 times since i had the truck.also, there's a clicking sound in the steering column.along with the lighting is out where the drive/reverse/etc indicator is (it's where i shift).i'm 55 years old and not hard on the car, constant oil change/tuneup and all maint things are up to date.i can't believe it is now falling apart.i've never had to replace an ac or rack and pinion on any vehicle i've ever owned.i'm besides myself having to pay out all this money for a vehicle thats only 8 years old.what was once sugar is now [xxx] (excuse my language).i will never buy another dodge again.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have owned the car since 2012 and have no major issues until now. My rear b.c. Ack passengers window malfunctioned out of nowhere and i treat my truck with the most car. I maintain it, service it, garage kept, and it only has 90000 miles as of last year when i was forced to drive it.

Breaks have gone outtwice now and i have been told its because of me running with my emergency brake on. Not true and i have had to replace all breaking system. Cruise control does not work while on hwy took it to dealership 3 times and they said it works. I have had electrical issues with window motors and wipers along with cruise control
