Took my 2002 neon sxt in for transmission warranty work in 2004...first chrysler denied the claim stated that the transmission was not covered (had an extended warranty!). Had my speed sensors replaced in december 2005 & am taking the car in again tomorrow to have them replaced again.

My 2002 dodge neon es has had nothing but problems leading up to the expiration of my warranty. Everything from electrical issues to radiator problems to the transmission. I took it for service at 65,000 miles because the transmission was slipping. My dealership said it was the radiator and the transmission was fine. I knew they were lying and sure enough, at 72,000 miles, 2,000 miles after my warranty expired, my transmission is dead. Chrysler corp. Refuses to fix or even discount a transmission for me saying that my car is "above and beyond" any warranty. I don't consider 2,000 miles above and beyond, especially considering the car had 5,000 miles when i bought it and was considered brand new.

Good morning,i have a 2002 dodge neon that i have put money into and i have experienced dishonesty from mechanics until now; paying lots of money to fix a problem that cannot be fixed.i was informed last week that this leak on my car cannot be fixed because its a manufacturer problem.apparently, this is a problem with all neon's.its a fluid leak of oil.a recommended mechanic diagnosed my car and informed me of this news.he said that the sealant is gone and cannot be repaired by any mechanic. What happens now?because this problem cannot be fixed and i'm not in a position to purchase a vehicle, is there a recall to repair this problem?i also had to disassemble my radio because after replacing my battery, the electrical fuse was replaced several times along with the alternator because the radio played after the car was turned off and would kill my battery.

My car is only two years old.when we bought the car we bought an aftermarket warranty for the car.my instrument panel and interior lights completely went out one day and i took it to the dealer i bought it from.they amazing could not find anything.a second time this has happened and the battery died on the car.the dealership replaced the battery they said because that was the cause of my problem.they never tried to charge or jump the battery .i have yet to pick up my car, but i don't think that the battery going dead caused this issue.if that was the case the battery would not allow me to ever start the car.i believe that this is a dangerous issue that needs to be addressed with dodge as i have talked to others who have had this issue.also i don't think that it is appropriate for a car with a bumper to bumper warranty on it that is only two years old should be breaking down.it is very unsafe to have all the gauges go out, and as soon as i can i am getting rid of the car.i just don't want anyone else getting hurt because of dodge's reluctance to address this problem.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon. When the contact opened the vehicle door, a mouse was seen running from the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle and under the seat. The contact stated that the rodent entered the vehicle through the air vents in the rear of the vehicle to chew on the wires inside the engine compartment. The contact had to place mouse traps inside the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealerfor diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

Electrical problempanel lights inoperative.the day before the vehicle broke down, the vehicle was in the repair shop for what the consumer thought was a faulty wiring problem. The consumer received an estimate for $825.00 to repair the inside cluster.an inspection revealed the vehicle had oil and transmission fluid in the reservoirs, in addition to that the transmission was rattling, the battery, alternator, belt and water pump had to be replaced.

My car is in the shop for the 5th time since november of 2003.sometimes when driving, the car will lurch or will die unexpectedly.when it lurches, the rpm's rev up for a few seconds and the radio crackles off.when it dies, it sometimes dies when i am at a stop or when i am driving down the road.when it does, all power is gone, i cannot even turn on the hazard lights.it sometimes regains power within a minute, once it took 16 hours.when the power returns, the radio has returned to the beginning of the dial and the clock is reset to 12:00 am.this is extremely dangerous when the power is lost...even if i'm able to coast onto the shoulder of the road i have no hazard lights to warn oncoming traffic, which is very frightening at night time.the dealer has replaced the pcm module, the ignition switch, front end wiring harness, engine harness, motor mounts and replaced the wires that connect the battery.none of the fixes have worked and they have no idea what to do to diagnose the problem, much less fix it.

I have a 2002 dodge neon. In the first year i had the car i had the typical car problems but nothing too major. I have replaced the battery 6 times in the car, since purchase. In may of 2006, is when the problems began rolling in. My main computer had died in the car, a $900 repair. After contacting dodge to get a new computer to put in the car, i had to wait for 7 months for it to be shipped, due to such a large back order. And the computer was only shipped after dodge was called and i had threatened to contact the better business bureau. The day i had picked up the car from getting the computer installed, my radiator and transmission went out. So i had to repair both of them. Only a few weeks later the car was yet again in the shop for yet another transmission problem. The check engine light is now back on, upon having the computer code hooked up to the car, i have learned that there is a transaxle control system failure and an incorrect gear ratio condition in 2nd and 3rd gear. The car will not go above 45 mph. When i start it and put it in drive it takes a few minutes for the car to recognize that its in the drive gear and when it finally does go into drive the entire car jerks. It will do that for several minutes. This will now be the 8th time from december, 07 to august, 07 that i have had to make repairs to the transmission. My car is only 5 years old, there is no reason on why i should be having so many problems. I have taken care of my car and it has received the proper maintenance. I have put more then $9000 in the car since purchase, having to go as far as to have a family member take out a second mortgage on their home to pay for the repairs. After looking up complaints online, i have found numerous complaints about transmission problems, why has this not been recalled?? why is it that the only recall on the neon is the lighting system??

I have a 2002 dodge neon sxt.for about a year now my fog lights have not worked properly.when my headlights are on my fog lights flicker on and of on their own.if i go over a bump the turn on another bump turns them off.they even flicker on and off on smooth road.i thought nothing about it until i started smelling something electrical burning.i then saw a stream of white smoke coming out of the top of my steering column through the hazard light button.this happens everytime i turn on my headlights.i have not had the problem repaired yet but i need to very soon.i am most scared that a fire will ignite while i am driving or the electrical problem will cause my airbag to deploy and cause an accident resulting in injury or death.

The gauges, (gas, rpm's, oil, temperature) on my 2002 doge neon will go haywire while driving the car.the bell for the door will also go off while i'm driving.i don't know how fast i'm drivingor how much gas i has left.and the bell for the door will constantly ring. I took it to a dodge dealer who ran some tests on it and they cannot find the problem. It seem to happen more frequently when the weather is warm.

My headlights & fog lights stopped working last week.the only way i was able to drive in the dark was holding my high-beams on.i took my car to the shop on friday, it was $500 to replace a burnt wiring harness & multifunction switch. There was no warning that this system would stop working.i had no choice but to pay for the repairs because of the time change and the fact it gets darker earlier, i had to have headlights to go work. I think this is something dodge should have warned their customers about or replaced.something failed in the system, this is not normal wear and tear.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon.while driving at any speed, the fuel gauge, speedometer, and other instrument panel gauges were inoperable.the dealer stated that the instrument panel cluster caused the failure.as of november 14, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle.the failure and current mileages were 46,000. Updated 01-10-08. The instrument cluster had an internal failure.the clutch, alternator and tie rods were replaced. Updated 01/08/08.

I turned the key that morning to go to work, the car was totally dead. I called chryler roadside assistance, sent a tow truck, gave me a jump, i let the car run for 45 minutes before going to work, i started driving, dashboard lights were blinking like crazy, the gas guage kept moving up & down, and the seatbelt light started blinking. Drove to carmax/los angeles and they were closed. I drove home, wouldn't restart, called the tow truck again, cartowed to dodge dealer (on manchester & isis/inglewood). I was told that the battery cell had dislocated, replaced battery and i was told that everything was fine. 12/20/02: driving home on the 405 freeway, the car began to jerk and all the dashboard guages were going up and down, the radio cut off, and the gas guage was going crazy. I was at the century blvd exit,i made a sharp turn to get off on century, then the car just cut on by itself.i continued to drive abount 1 mile and the car totally went dead. There were no lights or power. I called for a tow, the car was towed to downtown la dodge, i was told that the battery cable was loose, it was tightened and they didn't see any other problems..12/23/02: drove around the corner from my house (1/4) mile, car cut-off in the middle of the street. My friend came, touched the battery cable, and the car started. When i drove about another 1/4 mile, the car shut-off again.i called the tow truck, the car was towed to the seller (santa monica nissan), they kept the car for a week trying to find the problem. On december 31, i rec'd a call from buerge dodge, they had to re-wire the entire car..01/10/03: i was driving home from work and the car accelerated before coming to a complet stop, my co-worker instructed me to open the hood, she touched the battery cable and the car started. I came home and left mssgs for the buerge dodge service person (jeremy battat) to call me back and i still have not heard from him.

Car took on water from the "air intake" port causing me to stop--had no control of car when it stopped--according to the dodge dealer the engine seized from the rain water intake--same day it could not be started again--was from a rusted starter as per dodge dealer--car was sold back to dodge dealer at a loss

Consumer stated the vehicle would not start, the vehicle was towed and dealer informed consumer that the starter had rusted out.

Vehicle intermittently stalled. Dealer couldnot determine the cause of the problem, but repaired the wiring harness.

A problem with a wiring harness on my 2002 dodge neon has caused the head lights to suddenly fail on my vehicle while i was driving at night. According to my auto repair man, the wiring harness connected to the switch on the steering column that operates the lights suddenly burned out.this caused the head lights to fail repeadtedly.daimlerchrysler, makers of the vehicle, told my auto mechanic that they have no repair manual for this harness, and that the harness would have to be replaced at a cost of $1,000 to $1,500 to me.

Dt: the contact recently purchased a vehicle, and when checking out the vehicle it had seriousproblems. The frame was bent, the radiator was bent into the fan,the air cleaner was not bolted on the side, the radiatorwas painted red andbent, the core supplier was damaged, and underneath the hood the wiring was frayed. The contact just had the car inspected by a mechanic, and he found the aforementionedthings wrong with the car. The contact was upset that the dealership would sell a car in that condition. This car has used more than 10 quarts of oil since new (not counting changes). It has just over 20k miles now and still uses oil. It does not smoke or leak. The fuel mileage is nowhere near the advertised mileage. The dealer was contacted regarding no brake lights just after purchase. After two trips to the dealer (and the service writer telling us that we removed the cigarette lighter adapter wrong), they discovered the wiring harness for the backup lights was crushed by the shifter in reverse and shorted the lights. After complaining about poor starting and shuddering after a cold soak, the dealer replaced the injector o-rings, which solved the shudder, but not the mileage. Nothing has helped the oil usage, not even the two trips to the dealer to replace a baffle in the valve cover and an "oil consumption" test, which we performed. Yes, it uses oil. I should've bought my daughter a nissan, or, like i just bought myself, a brand new ford pickup. This was my first and last daimler-chrysler product...ever!

While the vehicle was parked in a parking lot, some one informed the consumer thatvehicle was on fire.by the time the consumer reached the vehicle all of the windows were covered with soot.fire department arrived and extinguished the flames, and concluded that the fire started behind the dashboard.

Where to start! steering wheel shakes bad when idling and had to replace the entire computer! there seems to be the same complaints with these cars without any action from chrysler. We have had to replace the front control arm bushings twice in 6 months in my daughters car, there is water leaking into the backseat from somewhere, stuttering when going up hills or over 50 mph; blown out struts, replaced radiator; eats oil..........why isn't chrysler held responsible for these problems. Check the internet........there are thousands of the same complaints! it has cost me over 2500 in repairs in 8 months!

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon. While driving various speeds, a knocking sound was coming from the engine and the engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine piston detached and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

I driving off the interstate wen car shut off idled tried to crank it up but it only made whining noise and won't start i also notice my car was smoking so i let the car cool off before i put water... The next day i went and a new timing belt put on and a crank shaft sensor and it still won't crank

Vehicle is exhibiting hesitation problems when engine is at operating temperature while accelerating from a stop and while under load such as climbing a medium grade road.engine feels like its starving for fuel. Had one case where engine stalled while stopped at a traffic light for no reason.another issue that concerns me the most is while accelerating from a stop into traffic, the engine bogged down with no power at all making it difficult to get out of the way of on coming traffic.the dealer said that they understood that chrysler was aware of the problem is to come out with an update for the engine computer but after 1years and 20000 miles, i have not seen a solution for the problem.this condition has existed since the purchase of the vehicle in april of 2002.

Check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on.then, vehicle stalled. Consumer took vehicleto the dealer for inspection, and mechanic could not duplicate the problem.

The radiator broke in my 2002 dodge neon. The coolant went into the transmission. This was last 7/2007. Next the transmission solenoid went 4/2008. Now the transmission needs to be rebuilt. 7/2008 in talking to numerous repair shops i am finding out this is a common problem and happens all the time with these neons. This is a safety issue. I think its a defect with the way this was built.

Car took on water from the "air intake" port causing me to stop--had no control of car when it stopped--according to the dodge dealer the engine seized from the rain water intake--same day it could not be started again--was from a rusted starter as per dodge dealer--car was sold back to dodge dealer at a loss

Dt*: the contact stated that while traveling 60 mph on normal road conditions and making a right turn a loud popping sound was heard.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the axle was broken. This manufactures defect caused problems with the cb unit and the engine computer unit.the vehicle was taken to a dealer prior to this incident where the cb unit was replaced.the problems still persists. The vehicle was awaiting a part to arrive for the independent mechanic to perform a replacement.there were no recall nor complaint found on this problem.updated 12/05/06.

While driving at highway speed engine lightand the oil light came on. Consumer pulled into a rest stop.upon driving up the ramp to the rest stop vehicle stalled.vehicle was towed to the dealership, and mechanic determined that sludgebuild up, causing the vehicle to stall.

Electrical problempanel lights inoperative.the day before the vehicle broke down, the vehicle was in the repair shop for what the consumer thought was a faulty wiring problem. My engine light turned on initially. I took the car to a mechanic to have the computer read by a mechanic. The light turned off before i arrived to the shop, but i thought that there would be something in the computer history. The mechanic still put this on the computer which read nothing in the history. I thought that this must be some type of diagnostic check and the mechanic stated that i could of just put the gas cap on wrong or something. I just bought the car about 6 months ago and nothing was wrong with the car when i had this inspected. The engine light being on will not pass emissions. Then on 06/22/09 i got an full oil change and all fluids were checked. Still nothing wrong. I turned the car on 07/04/09 the brake light was flashing and the speedometer gauge and fuel gauge was shaking. The battery died. I replaced the battery and the battery warehouse checked the flow of the battery and stated that this may have been just a bad battery because nothing else is wrong. They even stated that this was not the alternator. Then 2 days later i turn the car on and the transmission fluid and antifreeze were pouring on the ground. I turned the car off immediately. The dodge dealership thinks this is the transmission from experience without even looking at the car. I feel that this is a safety hazard and would like this to be looked into further when looking online it looks as if i am not the only owner of 2002 neon that is having this particular issue without any noticeable warning. There was no pop-the engine still runs without a noise i just noticed that i lost all gears and fluids are dumping very quickly from my car. I immediately shut this down. Dodge is quoting just for a transmission the bill will be $3500.00 and needed my vin # just to tell that without seeing my car. Luckily my employer is not upset about the fluids all dumped in the parking lot, but this could be considered property damage.

The screw on the rear of the radiator blew out and damaged the radiator's hoses.also, driver's side door lock made a loud noise, and the brakes squeaked when engaged.

On feb 14, 2006 while driving to work the car started making dinging noise and the transmission started slipping. The temperature gauge went to hot and i heard a bubbling sound coming from the engine area. As i pulled the car into a parking lot, the car stopped. Had the car towed to the dealership in town and they ran a check through the onboard computer system. What they finally found was that the radiator had an internal failure (that the radiator seal had failed) and leaked between the radiator and the transmission causing the coolant and transmission fluids to mix. Since the car is a 2002 and i have had it for 4 yrs and 3 months with only 68,348 miles on the car the transmission should have been still under warranty, but chrysler refused to honor the warranty stated, because the radiator caused the problem and it (the radiator) was no longer under warranty they would not cover the repairs to the transmission.i explained to the representative of chrysler on the phone, that indeed the radiator is one of their components on the car and on a 4 year old car it should not have failed (as stated by the service personnel at the dealership), and it was factor for the extensive damage caused to the transmission. It was also the main factor that resulted in the car stopping while be driven on a busy roadway, which could have resulted in a possible accident, personal injury, or even death.

Rapping sound was heard from 2002 dodge neon engine upon cold start which would stop after about 30 seconds.first dealer we took car to said it was carbon buildup; i knew it was more than that and brought it another dealer who at first denied they heard the sound at startup.i told them to keep the car and try another cold start - ended up that third cylinder piston was cracked and fourth cylinder was scored and they replaced the short block.lucky for me, i was under warranty and the cost was $100 for the deductible.car had just under 42,000 miles on it and has been maintained properly - oil changes every 3,000 miles, and is driven in a moderate manner (not beat on).

Consumer states the vehicle stalled while driving, the vehicle was towed to the dealership and consumer was informed that the engine had locked up, during inspection of the vehicle, it was pointed out to the consumer that the air intake port lays under the vehicle parallel to the wheel and is easily accessible to water coming off the road and being displaced by the moving tire, consumer argued that it should be considered a manufacturing defect since it seemed to be in the wrong location, the dealer stated it was not a manufacturing defect and that the vehicle should not have been driven in high water, however consumer disagrees and states that yes it was raining, but the water was not that high, the dealer replaced the engine block.

June 1, 2004. On my way home from work the car started idling real rough and i didn't really think anything of it. I would stop at a stop light and it would idle real rough. Finally the oil light flashed on and the car died. Called for a tow truck and they took it to a dealership where they could not find anything wrong with it. A month later on july 2 the car started idling real rough. I didn't even bother driving it out on the street cause i knew it would break down on me again. I shut it off and started it again about four times and each time it would idle real rough. Got it towed to the dealership again where i was told all they could find it needed was a tune up. I got the tune up done to it and ever since then it has a hard time going past 60 mph.

The car shakes when you come to a stop, and continues to until you begin to accelerate once again. I have have the battery go dead twice since i have had it. It has only been serviced at a dealership. The last time i took it they said that it had the wrong spark plugs in it. Why didn't they find this sooner. The car acclerates better now on take off, but it still shakes alot when you come to a stop. It still continues to shake while your still sitting there. This has started to happen about a month after i received the car.

I have a dodge neon 2002 with 10,000. Miles on it. Recently my car idles now between 4-500 rpm.driving my car; came to a stop light my car stalled.now sitting at redlights/ stop signs the rpm's dropall the way to 300 rpmcar starts to act like it is going to stall.took it to the dealership and said nothing is wrong with it.one the tech's who took the car for a road test said there is something wrong with the computer.the car is deciding on its own for the rpm's to drop but does not show up on the computer analyses.the dealership said they are waiting for a "flash upgrade to be installed"; also the cd player in the car heats up the cd'sburned my hand when i tried to take it ou.on 7-9-03 they gave me a loaner and on 7-12-03 they took it back.they said the only reason they gave me the loaner is because i was upset.they replaced the cd player but the problem with the car stalling is still not fixed.on 7-13-03 car stalled at a stop sign.almost got rear ended.this is going to cause an accident.you need to get involved because the dealership is not doing anything and someone is going to get hurt'.

I got my oil changed, tires rotated, and windshield wipers replaced on april 13 2011 around 6:30pm. My oil change took approximately 15 min. After the oil change and tire rotation, i paid and went straight home. I was not informed by anyone at valvoline that anything was wrong with my car. I got in my car around 7:40am on april 14th and headed towards my insurance company on asheville highway. As i entered onto business 85, my car started to smoke from under the hood and i could feel heat on my feet near the gas pedal and brake. As i tried to brake and slow the car down, something under the hood caught fire and the brakes failed to stop the car and the car ended up sliding into the back of a pick up truck and the hood and front end of the car completely burst into flames. The brakes on the car were replaced supposed have been replaced by the dealer before i purchased the car in december of 2010. Because of the incident, i sprain my wrist, dislocated my toe, and am without a vehicle.

Driving down i95, oil and engine light went on. Immediately pulled into rest stop <1 mile away. Car died on ramp.last oil change 23,000 miles, car has 30,000 miles.realize late for change, but deal says engine needs to be replaced will not cover under warranty. States that failure to have dealer do maintainan invalid warranty.states that problem caused by neglect. 7000 miles since last change, while late should not blow engine. No assistance offered by dealer.

Noticed car was leaking oil; checked oil level and oil wasn't even registering on the oil dipstick.required two (2) quarts of oil to fill to proper level. It appears as though the oil is finding its way into the coolant system and being expelled from the coolant overflow (expansion) tank. Almost two weeks later the vehicle required another quart and was losing oil and coolant at an alarming rate (pouring out of the vehicle). Dealer has insisted problem doesn't exist and has accused me of putting oil into coolant overflow tank.this is a blatant lie on their part to avoid warranty liability.he insist that there is no way for oil to find its way back into the coolant system. I have researched this statement and it is utterly false (either the head gasket or the water jacket could be responsible, among other things). They refuse to acknowledge the problem or fix it instead insisting that the car is operating according to factory specification and that it is safe to drive.my understanding is that this could result in an engine fire if the engine overheats, engine seizure, etc., any one of which could result in the loss of life, mine or my family.

Vehicle would not shift into drive, upon having the vehicle towed to the garage we were informed, it had a sizable hole in the transmission and they also found an oil leak. Total repair cost exceeded $600. This vehicle is a 2002 dodge neon and we are the original owners. The vehicle has always received proper care as far as oil changes, tires, spark plugs etc. The vehicle has not even reached 60,000 miles yet, and we're encountering such problems. In addition, the technician informed us, there are a number of small leaks, but it would be very, very costly to repair each leak, thus they only fixed what was causing the transmission to slip and the oil leak, which was also substantial.

2002 neon developed a tapping noise at cold start; the noise continues until the car is warmed up.no warning lights to indicate a problem.car was taken to dealer for diagnosis; owner told it is a rod or wrist pin, best to replace the engine for 4,600.this car only has 44,000 miles on it and has been properly maintained.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon. She has had several failures within the transmission , engineand seat belts. The manufacturer was called, but the representatives refused to discuss the failures .the failure mileage was 87,000.

Vehicle stalls while driving at highway speeds. Dealer cannot determine the cause of the problem.

Consumer state while traveling notice smoke coming from under hood. Consumer pull vehicle over and look under hood and notice flames on engine. Consumer close hood fire was put out. Vehicle was towed to dealer technician notice power steering hose was to close to the exhaust. Please provide further information. Ts

While driving in rainy weather drove over a small puddle of water andwithout warningvehicle shut off.then, became inoperable. Dealer has been notified.however , dealer stated it was consumer's neglect on driving around puddle.mechanic stated water was able to get into engine.

I work in the miami area and was going home after eating ; it had been raining that day and there was some small puddles on the roadways. I went through a small puddle; then through a red light ;when my car quit in the intersection with no warning and would not start. So i had to push the car off the road and get a taxi home until morning when i could try to determine the problem. My car is a 2002 dodge neon which i purchased on jan 17,2004 at capital chevrolet in montgomery alabama. After investigating the next morning icould not determine the problem and had the car towed to the maroone dodge dealer in miami fl. Theydetermined that the car had slung a rod which the warranty refused to cover their stated reason was that the car took on water through the air intake which seized the motor and caused the rod to break. After checking with other mechanics i have found out that their reason is not possible and that there have been other cases like this reported. Your help would be much appreciated thank you.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon.the contact stated that the exterior lights didnot illuminate due to a plug that burned out all of the wires in the vehicle.he noticed smoke ascending from the steering column, and the gauges on the dashboard and odometer failed.chrysler stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall.the failureoccurred for approximately three months.the current mileage is 63,000, and failure mileage was 56,000.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon. The contact stated while driving various speeds, she noticed that the both low beam headlights would point downward and illuminated an inadequate brightness towards the road. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated both head lamps needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

The fog light multifunction switch in my 2002 dodge neon was malfunctioning and the fog lights were turning on without being turned on.this continued for about a month until smoke came out of the steering wheel column for ~30 seconds, until the car was pulled over and the ignition turned off. The fog lights no longer work and there have been no more incidences of smoke.nothing has been done yet to rectify this, but the dealership will be contacted shortly.we found no obvious recalls for this for this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon.while driving 40 mph, the headlights were foggy and provided poor illumination.the lights also face downward instead of straight ahead.the contact was also experiencing transmission failure.when she would shift into drive, the gear would shift into reverse or neutral.the dealer stated that there were no recalls for the headlights.the purchase date and powertrain were unknown.the current mileage was 75,250 and failure mileage was approximately 63,000.updated 03/18/08.*ljthe consumer stated vehicle's transmission was rebuilt in 02/08 at the cost of $1,864.18. Updated 03/18/08

Headlight switch failed when changing from high beams to low beams. I had no low beam headlights for several seconds on a very dark road, where there are many deer. The multi-function switch ( headlight/turn signal) was replaced.the previous owner of the car had replaced the same part at 36,000 miles.the vehicle does have fog lamps but i don't use them.

While turning onlights theheadlights would not come on. Driver was able to place his hand on the lever and hold it in upward position to keep the headlights on whiledriving. Then, drove the vehicle to dealer for inspection, andmechanic replaced the wire harness.

Ea06-019 headlights & foglights do not work, tried replacing bulbs, this did not work.believe the switch is bad.very unsafe when driving at night, this is when the occurance happened.

I took my 2002 dodge neon to the dealer i purchased my car from. It was missing really bad, and the back floorboards held water when it rained. It was standing about an inch in my back floorboards, and my spare tire carrier in my trunk was full of water. My wires needed to be replaced, and i had 2 spark plugs that were bad and they put new plugs and wires in, at my expense. I purchased extended warranty on my vehicle, which was not cheap. I had to pay for the tune-up, the rental car, and they told me the leakage was due to bad seals in the tail lights and it wasn't covered. They told me they had been having a problem with the 2002 neons doing that. I asked why there was no recall on that.he told me it wasn't a safety hazard. Maybe not, but it is surely a case of bad design.i e-mailed chrysler and dodge, and theybasically told me it was my problem.why should i have to deal with bailing water out of my 2-year old car? they know there is a problem with that particular model, yet they won't pay to have it fixed.it was going to cost less than $100.00; but by principle, i refused to pay to have it done. If i can't get it repaired at the manufactors expense, i will wait until the spring rains move in, and drill a hole in my spare tire holder. Now, mind you, we're talking about a 2-year old car, not a 10 yr old car.i will be on the biggest hate campaign against dodge that they will ever come across.

For the past year my vehicle 2002 dodge neon has been releasing water, i assumed it was from the rain but i was not sure were it was coming from. It had wet spots at all times on the floor, back seats, and trunk. I had to leave the windows open very often for it to keep dry. Unfortunately, i started noticing mold was building up on the floor, trunk, and seats of my vehicle so i started getting concerned. Therefore i had some one help me look at the car, we started uncovering the car by removing the plastic cover on the inside of the vehicle and carpeting of the trunk. We found some severe mold when we removed everything. We established the water was coming from several water leaks on the manufacturer rear lights (both). The seal around the lights, which are the manufacturers, was completely ineffective. The seal is not stopping the water at all from leaking into the car. No parts have been replaced, i just cleaned it completely to remove the mold. Apart from that, i have left my vehicle the way it is. I just removed the carpeting from he trunk and plan on taking the car to the dealership and claim this to be replaced at no charge because i feel this is not part of a maintenance a consumer should be liable for.

Consumer called complaining about havingfuel system problems. Manufacturer was contacted, and indicated thatconsumer's vehiclewas considered a lemon ,and they were suppose to be buying the vehicle back.

Fuel mileage not up to rating 20 mpg now rating 33 mpg.vehicle only 5 months old.dt

The screw on the rear of the radiator blew out and damaged the radiator's hoses.also, driver's side door lock made a loud noise, and the brakes squeaked when engaged.

Driving on rt224 and car started squealing, lost power in gas pedal, got off busy road, turned on side st. And had no gas power, had to call my husband to pick me and my uncle up, he lost paid work , mechanic came to parking lot, he said transmission blew, had it towed toshop. Cost me 2,323. Also rip in left front axelmechanic says these neons are known for this trouble and to file with you. I need to get refunded in full, these cars should not be on the road. I do not work and it was very hard to scrap up the money to pay this and our lives were seriously in danger on a busy road. I called on 9-29-14 and filed a complaint with your workerref #10639796 and she said she would send me an email and paper in the mail conserving this phone call . I have never received anything. Plus i will sending a complaint about my husband's jeep 2000 gas tank shield is rotted away and pieces missing. This should be recalled.

When i come to a complete stop the car jerks.it kind of feels like its changing gears.i have brought the problem to southside dodge on south orange blossom trail in kissimmee, florida about four times.the first time they performed recall b27 and said that that wasn't the problem.so they went back and found the problem.fixed it and noticed it on the way home but didn't think anything of it.about 9320 miles later it was as bad as the first time i brought it in.they told me they had to perform a flash to reprogram the computer.ok took their word for it.went home did it all the way home.called them when i had returned home and they said it had to memorize the way i drive.give it a couple of days. Gave it months till i could bring it in again.third time i bring it in they had the transmission mech. Come and drive so i can point out the problem.so and so forth the problem banged when we came to a stop and came to the dealership. He went and talked with the service advisor and he came out.he told me they had to erase the memory of the car and reprogram the computer because since there is two drivers it learns the way one driver drives and when the other driver drives the car it messes up and you get this problem.so there is nothing wrong with the car.the sevice manager drove the car and never returned with an answer.the fourth time i brought the vehicle in they did the same thing to me as last.let me remind you the last two times i had brought the vehicle in they told me they would send an invoice in the mail for my conveniance, haven't received either.i think i'm getting jeked around here and i would like to get this problem resolved.all i'm asking for is the problem fixed.can you please help?

I was driving down the road and heard a whirring noise from under the hood and i lost the ability to go into drive and reverse come to find out it was a clogged trans filter so i replaced it and the car ran great for about 2 weeks and now i have torque converter out of range codes popping up the car has 88000 miles on it and i would like to think transmissions are supposed to be able to last at least 150 to 180 thousand miles before going bad this is not a cheap nor easy fix please help

I was driving on the interstate when, with no warning, i felt a jolt (like being hit from behind), then a strange sound from the engine compartment.i was able to control the car and pull off to the side of the road where i discovered that i had lost all gears.the car would not shift and would not move.i had to have it towed home (about 80 miles) where i took it to a transmission shop.they did a complete diagnostic evaluation and determined that the transmission was completely blown along with the cooling system radiator.i had to have the transmission rebuilt and the radiator replaced at a cost of almost $1,800. After talking with several transmission shops and reading comments on various websites on the internet, it appears that this type of transmission failure is very common with the dodge neons.it would seem reasonable that this be addressed in a recall by chrysler.

I bought this car with 49000 miles on it. I was driving everything seemed fine then i slowed down for a stop sign to between 3 and 7 mph and the whole thing just locked up. I tried every gear but nothing would unlock the tranny.. It's still locked up now i had to get it towed.. Luckily i was on a little two lane road with not much traffic so there wasn't to many mad people i feel dodge should take care of there problems and problem cars.. Im not asking for much just for my car to make it over 50000 miles.

Consumerwas drivingat 65 mphand the vehicle jumped into passing gear. Consumer stated that last weekwhile driving on the highway a truck was behind him and he needed to get more speed, so he stepped on the gaspedal toaccelerate, howeverthe vehicle did not respond, then it stalled. He kept telling the dealer about thisproblem andwill take the vehicle back to dealer to have it checked again.also, while driving, the vehicle jumped from 65-68 mph back and forth.the power train was repaired three times.when the consumer applied the brakes, the vehicle would stall and or jump and have almost run into other vehicle's.the consumer requested the vehicle to be remedied or reimbursement. *sc

The transmission failed, which caused the vehicle to stall.

2002 dodge neon automatic transmission failed while driving on the highway while pulling off exit at very slow speed was hit from behind by another car -with minor damage to rear bumper. Transmission was replaced car had 40,000 miles.

Transmission slips from 1st to 2nd gear, air condition does not get very cold, 15 miles per gallon, steering wheel starts to vibrate after 45mph, front and back brakes squeak, minor leak under driver side dash board, car starts to vibrate harshly in a drive idle at a red light, car stalls while sitting in park, car stalls while going in reverse on a very slight incline, and when ever i put down my windows, open my sun roof or ever have the air condition on, you can feel and hear the car just lose power wheni do one of those things dealership told me to go to a different gas station, to solve my gas problem, come on 15mpg thats a car defect, all the other problems they told me their computer did not detect anything and they could not duplicate it and they couldnt do nothing. Called chrysler head quarters, i might as well have called my neighbor to get help.chrysler head quarters called dealership up and told them to hook up a co-pilot to monitor my car for a few weeks.went to the dealership to find out that their's did not work along with all the other dodge dealerships.i will neverbuy another dodge or chrysler car again.. Because of all these problems i am stuck paying 400 bucks a month with a 20% interest rate on a lemon car...neons need to be taken off the road. Now i am selling the car for a lose because they can not fix or make a car the right way.

While driving45 to 50 mph and approaching a traffic light, thetransmission would down shift when the brakeswere applied. This also caused the vehicle to shut down intermittently.

Vehicle had idled hard since purchase.taken to local dealership numerous times for knocking sound on start up of vehicle every morning.owner was told that sound could not be duplicated.on date of incident, vehicle started jerking in and out of gear on highway.loud whine started and increased with acceleration.owner pulled vehicle to the shoulder and got out to try to locate source of sound.when owner tried to put car back into gear, gear shift moved but did not engage.transmission had to be replaced.

My 2002 neon dodge neon's transmission went out before 60,000 miles.

Vehicle has continued to idle hard after transmission replacement in nov of 2004.vehicle has started to stall when stopped.on date of incident, owner was driving vehicle home in a 55 mph zone.vehicle made a screeching noise, check engine light came on, and vehicle started to sputter.transaxle had to be replaced twice (first one shipped from manu was defective).

Vehicle was moving about 60 mph when itlost power and dropped to 20 mph. Vehiclewould not accelerate past 20 mph. The next day, vehicledid not move out of gear.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon. She has had several failures within the transmission , engineand seat belts. The manufacturer was called, but the representatives refused to discuss the failures .the failure mileage was 87,000.

Have taken the car to dealership three times for the same problem.when driving at high speeds would drop from fifth gear into third.as you kept driving it would get worse.and at times would not go into gear at all.this last time we went into the dealership they told us that the manufacturer had route wires to tps wrong and they were damaged.they repaired this about a week ago.the car now jerks when going into gear, runs very poorley when wet weather and shakes severley when at a stop.i do not feel confident driving on the vehicle on the freeway, we would trade in but the trade in value is at $3500, that is crap considering we bought the car for $13,000 two years ago!!

Driving at 49.9k miles on the odometer.this being 19.9k miles after warranty expires (30k mile warranty).just made a long trip from hampton, va to appleton, wi.about a week after arriving in wi, i am heading to work and start to hear a high-pitched whine.within about 10 minutes of hearing this whine, i was able to pull into a park and ride just as the car stopped moving.i was still able to rev the engine, but no acceleration.i placed the car into park and turned it off.i started it back up, and still could not get the car to move.placed the car into neutral, and the car still would not move when i tried to push it.found out, after car was towed to an auto shop, that a pinion bolt inside the transmission (2002 model) had broken off and was the cause to the seizure of the vehicle.if i had been driving down the highway, and this had happened, the car would have stopped in the middle of the highway and been the cause of a serious accident that, thankfully, was avoided in this instance. New transmission (2006 model) installed.the new safety feature for this model is that it has metal plates (brackets) around the offending bolt so that this does not happen.semi-off topic:if they (the manufactures of the transmission, and subsequently the dealerships that sell the vehicle) knew this was an issue (apparent from the introduction of the metal plates for the bolt) why was it not announced and corrected while under warranty for those that have bought the vehicle in 2002?

On september 24,2004 my transmission became stuck in first gear, causing my car to drive inefficiently. It is putting a strain on my transmission. I have known other people's transmission problems with their neons. Dodge is giving me a hard time for fixing it. This is still under a power train warranty, but are trying get around fixing the transmission. I had other expert tell me that at least 3 different thing are wrong with the transmission. I am bringing it back to premier dodge tomorrow, september 28.

My car was working fine. All of a sudden would not go into gear and made loud noise. Took it to aamco and they tell my throttle regulator box blew up. Mycar has 50,000 miles on it. I drive it 10 miles to and from work. Needed a whole new transmission as when the box blew up it send shards of metal through my transmission.

While at a stopvehicle would not accelerate. Vehicle was towed.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Took my 2002 neon sxt in for transmission warranty work in 2004...first chrysler denied the claim stated that the transmission was not covered (had an extended warranty!). Had my speed sensors replaced in december 2005 & am taking the car in again tomorrow to have them replaced again.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, an abnormal noise emitted from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact attempted to engage the accelerator pedal but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The technician diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. ..updated12/02/14 updated 02/03/15

While driving on the highway felt a jolt and loss of power. The speedometer then dialed all the way up and then back to zero. Pulled off to check it out, as i slowed down on the offramp heard a crunching sound and the car shut off. Started right back up but wouldn't go into gear, the transmission had locked up! i couldn't even put it in neutral to push it off the offramp. Had it towed to a shop where they put in a used, not new or rebuilt but a used transmissions with 60,000 miles on it for $1,800. The car had 81,000 miles at the time of failure and is barely six years old! i have also had to replace the throttle body and catalytic converter before 75,000 miles. By far the transmission is the most unacceptable component failure. At only 81,000 miles and six years old dodge needs to recall these automatic transmissions!

While driving a 2002 neon, either the transmission/brakes locked up on the car, stopping abrubtly without any warning on interstate 400 in atlanta, ga.due to the mechanical failure of the auto, my daughter's auto was then rear-ended by another car.both autos were totallled, neither driver was charged with the accident, but she was written up "mechanical failure" on the accident report.i believe that the neon auto itself was at fault/defective. I have another 2002 neon which just had to be repairedaugust1-8th, 2003 for the "transmission locking up and shutting down" and had to have the torque converter replaced.i located a service bulletin from chrysler on the internet which described this condition that was occuring in the 2001-2002 neons.i believe chrysler should be held responsible to this accident.i have contacted them, but they have told me that it will take anywhere from 3-5 months to even investigate and reach any conclusion.

When i bought my car, i had/have loud squeaking noise from my breaks when i back out of my drive way.i was told, from the dealer, nothing can be done to fix this.i thought that may be this would stop, but it is still always happening.

When applying the brakes vehicle jerks and pedal almost goes to the floor. Cause is unknown.please provide more information.ts

The screw on the rear of the radiator blew out and damaged the radiator's hoses.also, driver's side door lock made a loud noise, and the brakes squeaked when engaged.

While driving down hill driver applied the brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor.driver had to pump the brake and down shift to a lower gear to stop.

The brakes and rotors failed at 9000 miles, the dealer replaced them, however the problem recurred.

Driver and passenger side airbags failed to deploy during a fourty-five mile per hour front end collision.dealer has been contacted. During the accident the consumer tried to stop with brakes but his tires locked up.

Consumer states that when trying to apply the anti lock brakes. The brakes will lock up causing the vehicle to have extended stopping distance. Dealer notified.

I own a 2002 dodge neon.i have had the brakes inspected several times, the rear wheel bearings went bad while the vehicle was still under warranty, and there is still a problem with the brakes.even though there is ample fluid and wear left on the pads, my brakes make a horrendous metallic squeal when there is moisture in the air.not only is this embarassing, but how in the world am i supposed to know the difference between this noise and the classic symptoms of brakes that truly do need replaced.are there recalls on this model of car for this reason?i am ready to trade it in at a loss just to be done with it.westgate auto in plainfield is no help.i have had better service at my nearby midas shop.i like the car, but the manufacturer needs to correct this problem.three people i work with have the same issue with their neon, no matter the year.

2002 dodge neon calipers are tilted on top of the rotor causing wear. Mechanic replaced rotors. The dealer told the consumer the problem was due to the vehicle not being driven enough.

Brake rotors,calipers.

Vehicle 2002 dodge neon 22,351 miles on vehicle.while my wife wasbacking out of garage the brakes failed.three pieces of front disk brake pads were found lying on the garage floor (still in my possession). Both front inside disk pads appeared to have broken in half.upon checking the front brakes i found no pads in place on the left inside of the brake and only one half of the brake pad on the inside of the right brake which was still with the vehicle, obviously the rest of the pads were on the floor of my garage.my wife was shaken but thankful that she wasn't driving in traffic when the brake pads fell off the car. The vehicle had to be towed to joe cecconi"s chrysler to have new front brakes put on the vehicle. I feel that this was either a defect in the brake pads or a faulty engineering design and because of the seriousness of the consequences that could have resulted i felt that this incident should be reported.i'm also sending a letter to chrysler in regards to this matter.

Continual brake problems. Have had car in shop 3 times since sept. Of 2003 for brake problems.even after my daughter took the vechicle to the shop, the brakes still made high pitched noise when stopping. Just had car inspected in march...passed nys inspection with flying colors...less than 2 months later, car seriously vibratedbraking on curves and downhill on a recent day trip, and almost went out of control while driving at 10 mph below speed limit in the mountains. Car passed nys inspection late march 2001. Car has been in shop for brake problems: august 2003 at 29000 miles, feb. 2004 at approx. 40,000 miless, and is scheduled to be fixed again now. Even after brakes are fixed they still have some movement, and make a high pitched sound when stopping.

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a state safety inspection.the mechanic determined the front rotors were completely worn.the contact replaced the rotors and brake pads.

Driving at a speed of 25 mph could not steer car, pulling hard to the right, couldn't control went off road, hitting two trees and then car flipped, ending up on roof. Resulting in two injuries, driver and passengergoing to hospital.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon. While exiting a highway at approximately 20 mph, the steering ability seized. The contact had to maneuver to a complete stop and no warning indicators were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the power steering failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000. The vin was unavailable.

The problem with the vehicle started since the car had a couple of thousand miles. Started off with a ticking noise in the steering wheel, to a popping noise and then to clunking. The car itself had a lot of the suspension reviewed over 20 times by the dealership with "no problem found" they did replace steering couplers based on tsb's but that didn't resolve it. The car still has a click/pop in the steering wheel, when on take off the steering wheel still has the original clunk. The major concerned is the steering!! at any speed above 50 mph the car is not controllable, it sways, swerves loss of control when trying to hold the car in a straight line. The driver side front tire feels as if its turning in different directions while driving, it requires a lot more effort to make a left turn then a right turns. The vehicle is deemed unsafe by any standard, the other problem is the dealer ship states that its within "spec"... If i have to counter steer on a straight line there is a problem. I have almost had several accidents with the vehicle due to the nature of the steering issue, i am still fighting with dodge trying to get a courtesy district manager to review the problems. Their "official" answer is that its out of the standard warranty and under no circumstance will dodge pay for the repairs for steering issues even though it was a preexisting issue!! the dealer stated that my loss of control was due to a defect in the oem goodyear tires, so i brought it to good year and they said that there isn't anything wrong with the tires. I insisted they replace the tires, and out of goodwill they did replace all 4 tires, but the problem persisted!!!.. I brought the car back to the dealer and they advised that after reviewing the car that is the cars handling characteristics of the car. I knew it wasn't b/c the car never had those issues prior to the 5000 miles, the dealership then replaced some shocks and other odds and ends that made no improvement to the vehicles steering.

The trunk in the consumer's 2002 dodge neon had a leak that the dealer could not find. Water accumulated in the spare tire spot.

Trunk leaks with water collecting in the spare tire well.

Any time it rains, the rear floor pan and rear seats as well as the trunk fill with water and become unusable.

My 2002 dodge neon leaks through the trunk and runs into the backseat floorboards. Aftera rain or snow melt (letalone a carwash) water is pooled up in the spare tire area of my cars trunk and then runs through to the backseat floorboards. The car now has a terrible musty, moldy smell.

Everytime it rains, i get a trunk full of water and my rear floorboards get soaked. By looking at this complaint site, i see this is a manufacturing problem. Writing dodge may not help, but i have to start somewhere.

The vehicles front fender cracked.the dealership indicated that this was due to the fender not having enough bracket to sustain pressure.*nlm

My 2002 dodge neon trunk also fills up with water when it rains and flows into the backseat and on the floor of the back.it's been on going for a year or two.when i first noticed it, i took it to a dodge dealership and the guy said that he had never heard of this problem before and took apart my back seat and said he couldn't find where the leak was from.he said he would have to charge me like $100 to just spray it with a hose and see where the leak was.i said forget it.i went to other sites and saw that it's a common flaw in this car.eventually, my brother in law looked at it, and he unplugged a hole in the wheel well of my trunk...problem solved!i will never buy a dodge again, especially a neon.

Dodge neon fills with water in the trunk each time it rains, and fills the rear floorboards.i disassembled the car to get the mold out.this is due to faulty rear tail-light seals.i have replaced them 3 times.they last about 4 or 5 months and start leaking again.dodge should be ashamed.they are aware of the problem.each time you go to the dealer (i've been to 9 different ones) they are "all" aware of the problem and 4 or 5 have actually "laughed" about it.this was my first dodge product, and the last dodge product for myself or anyone in my family as long as i live.

The failure mileage was 64,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon. The contact stated that water would enter the vehicle and accumulate on the rear floor boards. The failure would also occur when it did not rain. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the dealer stated that the seals on the vehicle caused the failure. The contact felt that the failure may be due to a leak on the rear brake lights. There was also a leak present in the trunk. The contact felt that this was a manufacturers defect. The failure mileage was 150,000 and the current mileage was 165,000. The vin was not available.

I noticed my spare tire and 4-way tire iron rusting about a year after purchasing the vehicle. I didn't correlate this to a problem with moisture until a couple of years later when i began smelling a moldy smell . After further investigation i noticed water accumulation after rain or freeze thaw cycles. The repair shop wanted $300 .00 to replace the trunk weather stripping . I refused to accept their diagnosis and left. While at home i took a hose and ran water over the trunk area and looked for obvious signs of water penetration around the trunk joints and stripping. I found no obvious leak . I started to look at the rear light assemblies and noticed water getting in behind the gaskets. I have not received a recall notice for this defect and would like your organization to look into this. This problem could lead to electrical shorts and could also cause respiratory ailments due to the mold growth . Your response to this concern is requested. Thank you .

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon. The contact stated that water would leak through both the driver and passenger side tail lights and into the spare tire wheel well, causing mold to form on the rear interior seats. The car has less then 63k miles on it andi was told it was unsafe do to a rusted k frame. Everywhere i look online people have the same issue with low mileages how can this not berecalled!?!? it was only found when i went to 2 different places innashua, nh and it failed inspection at both.

While driving steering wheel would constantly vibrate. Hard to maintain control of vehicle whenvibration happens.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 45 mph on normal rural roads, the vehicle unexpectedly veered to the left hitting a school bus and banking off the road.the driver side wheel snapped off the axel causing a loss of steering control.there were no warning lights illuminated prior the incident.there was a police report taken and no injuries were sustained.prior to the accident, the contact noticed shaking on the front end of the vehicle.it was taken to an independent mechanic, who performed tire balancing and rotation.as the shaking persisted, the manufacturer was contacted, who referred the contact to a dealership.the dealership recommended a complete wheel alignment.the vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who performed the alignment and the shaking disappeared.the accident occurred a few miles after the vehicle had the alignment performed.

While driving the vehicle would pull to the right.the dealership realigned the vehiclebut theproblem still exist. *nlm

Had a vehicle inspected and was rejected, sent back to dealer, they took to another inspection station and put a passing sticker on the vehicle.it failed for fog lights, e brake and front suspension.they fixed the first two and that was it.i've had the car a little over two days or so and the check engine light is on and the front suspension is still not fixed.the vehicle rides rough and shakes and makes noises when going over 50 mph.i'm afraid for my safety when driving this vehicle and i have a child to transport in this vehicle.

Vibration in front suspension and dealer is unable to locate source and continues to stall in replacing this vehicle that has been in the service department more than it has been driven.

Have a 2002 dodge neon with a little more than 101,000 miles on it.brought car in for service and was told by the service manager that the control arm bushings are pushed right through the front sub frame and if they let go this can cause a serious crash this is a serious safety issue and that the car should be recalled.because the sub frame of this type of vehicle should not be gone alreadyand chrysler don't want to admit that they are using cheap stuff in these types of cars. And if you keep driving the vehicle the worse it will get and other stuff will happen like the alternator will let go and have to be replaced. Seeing car is unsafe to drive it is sitting in my driveway.

I have taken my vehicle in twice for a vibration in the steering wheel and the vehicle would pulled to the left. The first time i brought it in they said it was due to tire wear and they replaced the tire free of cost. I took the car in about five months later because it was still doing the same thing this time they said it was normal tire wear and they nothing about it.

(1) the vehicle drifts to the right at speed (2) the vehicle pulls to the right on acceleration from a stop-the steering wheel actually moves to the right as does the vehicle if you don't prevent it from veering off the road (3) the whole car wobbles from side to side at low speed-the sensation is like there is an egg shaped tire (4) tailpipe misaligned and melted portion of rear bumper. Both front end control arm bushings failed and had to be replaced. *la

Have 2002 dodge neon with just over 58,000 miles on it. While being inspected found that both control arm bushings were shot.appears to be a problem with neons which chrysler doesn't want to admit.if these had fully let go traveling on highway this would have been a serious safety issue.

The lower control arm bushings are a big problem with this car. You will lose control of steering if the bushing and bolt let go. On average my local repair shop replaces 3 a week. Should be a recall.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge neon.the vehicle was taken to a tire shop to have the struts replaced.the mechanic stated that the front suspension k-member corroded the vehicle and should be taken to the dealer for a diagnosis.the current and failure mileages were 60,888.updated 12/12/07 the undercarriage cross member rusted. Updated

- the contact calledregarding the2002 dodge neon. The contact has not experienced any failures.the contacttookthevehicleto dealerfor the repair of a scrape on her bumper.the the mechanic advised her that the stabilizer armand bushingswerea known defect.however, there have not been enough incidents to warrant a recall.the contact stated she also called the manufacturer and was told the samething.the vehicle has 32,000 miles.the contact stated she did not have the stabilizer and bushings replaced because the vehiclewas out of warranty. The current mileage was 32000.

Vehicle is experiencing a problem with the rear coil springs. Consumer was driving at approximately 15 mph and felt something rubbing against the rear right tire.had the vehicle towed to the dealer, and saw that the coil spring had broken, and was right on top of the tire.

This vehicle was purchased "new"with all seasonal tires, p18560r15.this vehicle can only use snow or studded tires ifowner purchases4 more new tires with different size, p18565r15.that would be the only way thatowner can have snow tires.it is not available bytire size that was purchased with vehicle. Manufacturer was contacted to see if resolution would be given, but no further assistance was given.please describe details.

Driver and passenger side airbags failed to deploy during a fourty-five mile per hour front end collision.dealer has been contacted. During the accident the consumer tried to stop with brakes but his tires locked up.

I had purchased a 2002 dodge neon sxt in september of 2002.after a few months of driving my car until today october 10th, 2003 i have had my car at the dealer 6 different times for the same problem.i have an electrical short somewhere where it makes all my gauges die and flicker.the brake and seat belt light come on and chime...my dome light flickers like a strobe light..my radio cuts out and sometimes my power window will not work properly.the first couple times the said clusters in the back of the dash had to be tightened.after this didn't work the next step was to replace the dashboard.after this didn't work they decided to rig an auxillary ground to my battery by splicing into the cluster on the back of the dash.the last straw was when they took my car and wanted it for a week, but i got it back in 2 days and the response was we can't duplicate it...so when can't fix it. We're stumped.i don't accept that as an answer and now have been getting the runaround from the dealership and chrysler headquarters in detroit.even so much so that a woman who worked there told my they are going above and beyond what they need to do for me as a customer by providing me with a rental.if they would have went above and beyond for me they would have fixed it the first time...now i don't even want the car anymore.

2002 dodge neon. *mr

Trunk leaks with water collecting in the spare tire well.

Back seat floor floods in heavy rains (pools of standing water). Trunk also soaked. Smells horrible and is difficult to drain/remove water. No dampness of seats or around window/door area. (property damage at this point is odor-related.)

I bought the car brand new.no previous owners.the car is a 2002 dodge neon 4 door.the paint began to peel off approx two years after i bought it.i took it to a dodge dealership and was told that dodge would not help me since it looked like the paint was coming off because of stones hitting it. You can clearly see where the paint is about to peel more, because it bubbles up first, then splits, then peels off.the paint will literally fly off when driving and you can see it go up past the windshield. The paint is peeling off in sheets.i have read many, many other consumers with this same type of problem. Why isn't dodge taking responsibility for this? i have contacted dodge with no response. Now the car is past its warranty stage.someoneshould make dodge make this right.

Car gets gas mileage of 16.5 - 17.8 mpg city. Advertises 22 - 28, hwy 26.6 advertises 26-38. Attitude is systems check so tough luck. Mr

*sc

After driving in 2 hours of traffic i parked my 2002 neon. As i parked it started to accelerate on its own. It still does so but only when reversing. When i brake as i am reversing its as if the brake tightens up and doesn't want to brake. This to me is a huge safety issue what if there is a child behind me and i need the brakes to actually work???

Dt:while driving in bumper to bumper traffic the consumer's vehicle was involved in a collision.the owner glanced away for a moment, looked back and the brake pedal was applied and the accelerator kicked in.there was a feeling of the vehicle braking against acceleration.then the vehicle hit the car infront.there was no investigation into the accident, however, the owner believed the accelerator may had something to do with this accident.since then it has happened several times in emergency braking situations.*sc

It became difficult for the driver to see out the front windshield and passenger front window.*nlm
