My steering is still making anoise like something is loose in it. I called mckinney dodge about it. I bought the car with 13,000 miles on it, now theytell me my warrenty has ran out. When i bought it they told me that i had 2 yrs or 25,000 miles on the warrenty.now they say that was when it was new and not from when i purchased it. I am scared to drive it not knowing if the airbag will deploy or if the steering will fail, not to mention not being able to use the horn. I would like to know if there is anything i can do about it?dt

I took my car to mckinney dodge in easley s.c. They checked it out and said that the electrical contact spring was broken and i needed a new one. My warrenty had ran out they said. They also told me that my airbag would not deploy even if i had an accident. I should not have to pay 165.00 for something like that when i have only had the car for 7 months. According to mckinney dodge when i bought the car i had 2 yrs or 25,000 miles. Now they said that was for when it was new. It had almost 14,000 miles on it when i bought it back in march. They failed to tell me that warrenty was for a new car. I hope you will invesdicate this for me. My horn won't work due to this problem either.dt

While driving the air bag warning light stayed on and the horn was inoperative. The dealership indicated that the clock spring needed to be replaced. The failure was due to the defect described in the air bag clock spring recall 04v480000, but this model vehicle was not part of the recall.

Dodge neon 2001 my - 43,000 miles.today, while making a parking maneuver i suddenly heard several plastic click and crack like noises. I immediately thought of the clock spring; my fears were confirmed few seconds later when the airbag light turned onmy cluster.finally, after hearing the same kind of noise 3 of 4 times while driving the light ended up staying on. It basically meant that i have no airbag and i am a little bit worried that it might come off unexpectedly. Think it is not normal for such a safety component to fail in such way after only 43,000 miles.i really can't think of anything i could have done that would explain that.

Our car was struck by a hit and run driver while our son was in the process of parallel parking the car, the car was not moving but it was running. The car that hit ours was going about 40 miles per hour and did quite a bit of damage however the air bags never deployed. We contacted chrysler corp. And they sent an investigator to the repair shop. He at first could not get any information off of the air bag system because all of the wires to the air bag system had been cut in the accident. When we did get a report from chrysler they stated that the air bags did not deploy "because it, the car, did not develope the necessary decelerative force to energize the system". This we feel is a stupid statement because cars get hit everyday and the air bags deploy even if they are standing still. Also when we were picking up our car from the repair shop the owner of the shop was showing us another chrysler product who was in an accident and its air bag did not deploy either. He claims it happens all the time. I feel the the system the chrysler uses is subject to damage which prevents the air bag deployment. I would appreciate any help you can give us in this matter. On several occasions, smoke has been emitted from behind the steering column.initially, fog lights would not turn off.later, smoke came from behind the steering column, and the fog lights turned off, but would not turn on.1 month later, more smoke came from behind the steering column, with a bad odor, and the headlights stopped working.now, i have had to buy the mfs (multi-function switch) but it does not work, as the wiring harness and wires are burned.the dodge dealer says that the entire wiring loom has to be replaced for several thousand dollars.i have researched online, and have found several complaints of the same issue.my concern is that headlights, taillights, turn signals, etc,should be a safety issue, and i have seen that many other neon owners have had taillights go out, turn signals not operate, etc.i checked 7 cars in junk yards today, and found that all of them had burned wires and harnesses.dodge should remedy this issue, which is clearly related to safety.

After the repairs, the failure recurred and the vehicle was towed back to the mechanic where the alternator, alternator belt, cam shaft, battery, horn and the ground wire cable were replaced. Car electrical intermittently goes out without warning, while moving or parked. Radio goes out, all dials go down to zero, power steering and brakes do not work. I have taken the car to the dealership on numerous occasions, mostly by tow-truck, to fix the problem. Dealer says they cannot duplicate the problem, installs co-pilot, but car does not act up while it's installed. I have contacted daimlerchrysler assistance center, but they say it's not their problem. I bought my neon in may of 2001 and in feb. 2002 i had a bad water leak.i took it in several times and they would say it was fixed, but no it was not. I finally told them i want my carpet replaced when they do get it fixed.i fought with them round & round, till they finally said they would.i said do not put it in until we know for sure it was fixed.they said it was, put new carpet in and sure enough it leaked again and the new carpet was soaked and stinky, like the original.they finally got the leak fixed after 6 months, but they sure did not offer to replace carpet again.this dealer was very rude.i also had to have my headlights replaced, due to water leak.my cd player broke twice and had to be replaced, my sunroof had to be replaced. Engine locked up during a heavy rain, dealer states that this is normal due to water getting inside the engine through the air intake system located in the l/f fender (design flaw?).

Dt*: the contact stated when driving at 30 mph, a wind draft was noticed in the steering wheel making it difficult to control.upon inspection by the contact, water was notice in the back floor board.the vehicle was taken to the local dealership were they determined the seal around the tail lights had a small area that may have not been sealed properly.the dealer replaced the sealant around the tail lights, but was unable to determine the cause of the steering problem.

Doors have trouble closing and staying closed until they dont close at all. All four doors on my car have this problem. It is currently in the shop getting a new door mechanism so the door on the driver's side will close. Travelling on interstate, going 30 to 40 mph because of rush hour traffic.transmission starts to slip.i was lucky enough to pull car onto the shoulder and out of traffic.after towed to dealership, i'm told a plug on the radiator that connects to the transmission "popped" off.this caused all the transmission fluid to drain on the interstate and immobilized my car.the radiator has to be completely replaced because of this plug.

The seal around the trunk lid is leaking.there was a large puddle in my trunk from rain water, it leaked underneath into the spare tire holding area, then into the back seats and carpet in the car. I bought this car brand new on may 31, 2001. The car came with 16 aluminum rims and the goodyear eagle low profile tires. This was used as part of the salesmen's speal to get me to buy the car. Since may, i have had 6 or more instance of flat tires, some while driving on highways, some driving on side streets and some while parked. The dealer has fixed the problem each time. The first time i had to buy a new tire and rim which cost over $500. All of the other times they found the rims bent and simply used a hammer to bang them back in shape. Ihave spoken to the service mgr, jim martin and he himself personally banged the rim straight on 11/15. He also told me this is a known problem with aluminum rims that are not strong enough to withstand a pothole or even a driveway. The low profile tires, which are not much bigger then bicycle tires, are not big enough to prevent the rims from bending if i hit a pothole, speed bump, etc. The worst part is i spoke to several mechanics and they told me this is a common problem. Because the rims are 16 inch, i can't replace them with steel rims because steel rims do not come in 16 inch sizes for a p195/50 tire. The only option they gave me is to go to a tire dealer and buy new tires and 15 inch steel rims or live with the problem. I fear for the safety of my wife and family and i think this should be looked at for a possible recall since it seems every dealer and mechanic in america knows this is an accident waiting to happen. Gas pedalfolded over at approx a 90 degree angle, towards driver when driver was attempting to back out of a driveway. Since there was no support available for the foot to rest on, the foot slid off the gas pedal, sideways toward the brake. Durning the foot sliding, tip of shoe caught small part of gas pedal still attached causing car to surge resulting in collision of parked car with right rear bumper of neon.gas pedal at this time was noted to have split/broke at exact same spot on outside of gas pedal, by brake, and inside of gas pedal nearconsol. Both splits are right above where small screws connect a very thin, plastic gas pedal to metal rod at bottom 1/4 of pedal. Dodge dealer insist this break was done intentionally by a human . Yet they also insist that this part was near impossible to break.wow i have a very strong 16 yr old daughter !i thank god that she was only backing out of a driveway when this happened and not driving down the freeway.car had been driven 3 times only when this occured..

Due to a degree of slant inwindshield there is a 3 by 13 inch of reflection incenter of the windshield which has caused poor driver's visibility. Consumer has contacted the dealer. Please provide any further details. The reflection is the defrost vent on the vehicle cowling which increases in density as the vehicle is driven and light varies, in early morning friving especially to the east on a tree lined road/street this reflection becomes dominant in the center of the windshield causing poor visibility.nlm

I noticed that my car would make a brushing noise whenever it moved (with the gas or without the gas).i assumed that it was the brakes, so i took it to a mechanics to have it taken care of.what they discovered, however, was that it was not the brakes creating the noise, but the tires and the rims.apparently, either the rims or the tires are the wrong size causing them to rub against one another whenever the car moves and makes the tires flex.when investigating recalls, found that there was a recall for the same exact problemfor the model, just not for my specific car.apparently, in certain cars the wrong placard was placed on the inside of the drivers door indicating the wrong tire size, therefore causing mechanics to replace the tires with the wrong size.i believe that this is the same problem as my vehicle has, but a recall has yet to be issued for it.

I bought this car brand new on may 31, 2001. The car came with 16 aluminum rims and the goodyear eagle low profile tires. This was used as part of the salesmen's speal to get me to buy the car. Since may, i have had 6 or more instance of flat tires, some while driving on highways, some driving on side streets and some while parked. The dealer has fixed the problem each time. The first time i had to buy a new tire and rim which cost over $500. All of the other times they found the rims bent and simply used a hammer to bang them back in shape. Ihave spoken to the service mgr, jim martin and he himself personally banged the rim straight on 11/15. He also told me this is a known problem with aluminum rims that are not strong enough to withstand a pothole or even a driveway. The low profile tires, which are not much bigger then bicycle tires, are not big enough to prevent the rims from bending if i hit a pothole, speed bump, etc. The worst part is i spoke to several mechanics and they told me this is a common problem. Because the rims are 16 inch, i can't replace them with steel rims because steel rims do not come in 16 inch sizes for a p195/50 tire. The only option they gave me is to go to a tire dealer and buy new tires and 15 inch steel rims or live with the problem. I fear for the safety of my wife and family and i think this should be looked at for a possible recall since it seems every dealer and mechanic in america knows this is an accident waiting to happen.
