When asked what accommodation would i receive will they had car for repairs i was informed that there would be none. I can not understand how i am suppose to get my vehicle repaired if i do not have away to drop it off or pick it up. This is unfair and truly wrong.. This is not my responsibility this is theirs and they should have to pay for all cost

After filling the car with gas and pulling onto the state highway the car motor stopped running. It started back up and got up to around 45 mph then the motor stopped running again. Again the car started back up and got up to around 25 mph and the motor stopped running. Then it started back up, bucked about 15-20 times and got me home. Next day the car ran fine. Five days later, filled the cars gas tank up again and pulled into heavy traffic and the motor stopped running, was almost hit by a dump truck. Again the car started back up got up to around 35 mph and the motor stopped running. This has now been happening after every refill. I don't top off the tank.
Please put your self in our shoe`sthis has got to be dealt with or someone is going to get killed in a crash. Please don't let dodge skate on this onecan we not get a class action lawsuit going?i hope i don`t crash and kill somebody`s child or loved one.1. Dangerous! entire car shakes when traveling at 40-80+ mph. The shake shows up in the steering wheel which makes the car unsafe to handle at speeds of 65mph. This shake is not present when braking, only under acceleration and usually only when you go over 40mph.the problem has gotten so bad that it actually hurts my ears do to the"pulsing and pounding air pressure when only one window, any window is open. It is deafening!!. The wheels were balanced on 4 separate occasions and that didn't nothing but waist my time and money.2. Car nearly stalls out when shifting between first and second gear on wide open throttle. (can be dangerous if you expect the car to go and it stutters. Almost appears as if it is going to stall, like it's starved for gas). And if all that is not enough, the rack and pinion need replacing, after only 53 thousand miles!!!??? it should last at least 150,000 miles ionly drive about 10,000 miles a year!and on very smooth roads.now i am out of money and attempting to make ends meet on $995 dollars a month. Don`t i / we have government backed consumer rights when these problems are so obvious and blatantly being ignored.dodge shouldby now, know what these problems are,and if not, they should feel obligated to at least find the cause of them.after all i purchased a dodge to help support an american icon just to find out that they actually treat us worse than toyota treats there customers.i mean at least they are fixing and admitting there mistakes. I just hope myself or anyone else get hurt or killed do to thereignorance before they finally bend over, grab there ears and pull there heads out of there .........!
I was driving at night and i realized that my lights were flickering and flashing without me having to touch anything. First i thought i had fuses issues or some type of bad connection. It wasn't the case because i brought the car to the mechanics and they couldn't find a bad connection. I took back the car but the situation was getting worst o he point that the light can stay off for more then 10 seconds in the middle of the highway and suddenly comeback on. Also it will keep doing that through the whole trip. In brought the car back to the mechanics and they found thatthat's an electrical issue. I went online and found that through google that this has been an issue with a lot of dodges magnum (electrical problem). I think this is a big safety issue. Specially driving at night. Thank you for running an investigation in this issue.
(totally integrated power module tipm)one morning i tried to start my car. The car acted if the battery was dead, so i jumped the car. After i jumped the car i noticed that my esp/bas light was on. I didn't think much of it because i was trying to get to work. As i left my house i tried to use my turn signals. They did not turn on. I tried to use my wind shield wipers and they did not work either. This is alarming because these are a couple of same attributes that make a car safe. After more investigation the following things stopped working as well.horncruise controlfront windowsturn signalsso all of my major components that allow me to communicate with other drivers stopped working all at once. I went to the local dodge dealership. The service writer told me that this is not a uncommon problem and that thecost to fix this problem would be around $1200-$1000. After further research, the service writer was not far off when he said this is a common problem. After reading page, after page, after page of forums of "chrysler " owners having the same problem. Further more there is a lawsuit against chrysler for putting faulty parts on their vehicles without any sort of recall. This is a major safety hazard considering, if this common faulty part goes out, so does most of your visual and audio communication indicators on your vehicle.
The car seems to be running fine one minute when i come up to the traffic light while it is in gear the engine shuts off the next problem is driving down the road the lights go off and on sometimes don't come back on for two or three minutes very annoying when you're driving at night with no headlights an oncoming traffic
While waiting at a traffic stop the vehicle stalled. Cranked it twice and got it started. On the next light it stalled again when slowing. The gas was at 3/4 full. Next time, my wife and kids were on the freeway when the car stalled when slowing to stop at an exit. Deemed unsafe but realized the it happened after gas was filled or closer to full. Happened a couple more times with the last being on 3/5/14.

The engine stalls randomly after stopping at a stop sign or red light.this will often occur several times in a row.after restarting the car it will not go into gear and be stuck in neutral.the problem will also occur at speed, dying causing a small deceleration and then starting again on its own.this is very dangerous because the driver behind you has no indication that you are stalled and stopping unexpectedly.
When wanting to indicate a right turn, the signal indicated left and vice-versa.this is intermittent, but dangerous.it did not happen often, leading me to think it stopped, but is getting more frequent.also, key will not turn over engine intermittently.
I have been having major issue with my magnum stalling. It stalls after i fill up on gas, if i drive alot during the day it stalls alot at night, and it happens at all speeds. I have been stuck at major intersections freeways, freeway entrances and exits. Its not a great feeling fearing every time you drive especially the way people drive in los angeles. This is getting out of control and i have no option but to drive it. I am afraid of getting in a deadly accident because of this issue please help.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, all of the lights on the dashboard illuminated and the vehicle independently attempted to shut down. This failure recurred numerous times. The contact also stated that the transmission made a loud noise as if it were going to drop out of the vehicle and began to slip. The failure recurred numerous times. The contact also stated that the vehicle would attempt to stall when attempting a turn in either direction. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they offered no assistance. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance.the failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 103,000.
Engine stalls while driving, also stalls while car is not moving, whether in park, reverse, or drive the car shuts down and sometimes starts up immediately and sometimes it doesn't, if car is moving at speeds above 30 and the stall happens it will kick right back up on it's own.
Engine computer that talks to key to determine "match" dies and shuts off vehicle while driving.computer had to be replaced.14000 miles later (two years later) computer that was replaced does the exact same thing and dodge will not replace as a defective, but rather charging 1200 bucks.extremely dangerous as it randomly just cuts off engine while driving at any speed and can be rear ended.this is not a part that "wears".and this is not a part that should ever have to be replaced or go bad.
Several times when driving or parked all gauges on dashboard drop to zero and idiot lights come on - sometimes it happens only once and sometimes it happens multiple times before returning back to normal. Have had it to the dealer several times - even had to pay them $269 to disconnect my after market remote start for them "prove to themselves" that it wasn't the cause.this issue happened a few times before the remote start was ever installed, but they wouldn't take my word for it.also provided the dealer with multiple internet printouts of complaints for the same issue across multiple makes (one said that theirs was due to a loose connection under the battery housing), but they "had never heard of such a problem" and "couldn't reproduce the problem" even after driving the car several miles on several occasions.funny how it happens to me on most rides!
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum.the contact has experienced several failures with her vehicle and electrical components.the driver's side seat belt was inoperable and failed to move when she attempted to pull and secure it over her body.she would have to turn off the vehicle and play with the belt for a while before it would operate properly.the dealer replaced the entire seat belt module, but the seat belt failed several times after the repair was performed.the manufacturer suggested that the failure could be related to the computer system in the vehicle.the contact was concerned that the seat belt would not operate correctly in the event of a crash.the dealer stated that they did not know what else to do to correct the failure.she was able to locate a technical service bulletin for the seat belt retractor.in addition, the sun roof was inoperable and would open and close intermittently.the failure and current mileages were less than 28,000.
V8 engine repeatedly and unpredictably stalls and loses power during driving and turning situations. Recovers after 1-2 seconds in some instances, stalls completely and is difficult to restart in others. Produces extremely hazardous and dangerous situations in traffic and at intersections. Local dodge dealer (hall dodge) has had car for six weeks+ and has failed to correctly diagnose & repair. This appears to be a common very dangerous problem involves fuel tank valve, as it is more prevalent (see many online posts of identical symptoms since 2005 and before) after full fuel fill and persists until unrestricted fuel appears to have been used to sufficient degree. Dealer has replaced unlikely items such as sunroof module and the abs module in futile and inept attempts to skirt the real issue. Someone is going to die in one of these cars when it stalls --chrysler dodge is 100% knowledgeable of this defect in many of their cars, and will not acknowledge or make any attempt to correct it. We implore nhtsa to intervene immediately!posted 27 feb 2013.
The ignition has a fault. It will not start. Lights turn on but car doesn't start. New starter installed
- the contact owns a 2006 dodge.the esp, electronic stabilization package failed when driving at5 mph.whenthe tire slipped a little when accelerating, the throttle failed and the vehicle did not move forward, but the engine continued to run.for approximately 3 to 5 seconds the throttle would not release gas and the vehicle would not move forward.the mechanic and the star engineer stated that the vehicle was operating normally. The failure has occurred approximately 50 times, and occurred every time the vehiclewas driven.the current andfailure mileage were both 15,000. Updated 03/19/07.
2 issues:1)the car stalls (engine cuts off) sporadically.it restarts without hesitation but the stalls are during transit which is very dangerous in traffic.i see a lot of instances where this complaint has been reported but i don't see any recalls on this issue.2) when someone is sitting on the front passenger seat with the seat belt buckled, the seatbelt warning light and chiming continuously blink and sounds.also, all the emergency lights on the dashboard blinks simultaneously periodically.not sure if that is related but i don't see any recalls concerning this.i will be reporting these to the media for assistance in getting these issues addressed with my vehicle.
Heat blows on passenger side but cold on drivers side
While driving, without warning the following will happen simultaneously:dashboard gauges drop to zero (mph, gas level, temp, rpm), the idiot lights all come on and if the heat (blower) is on it will stop operating and heated seats turn off.this lasts for 2 seconds and then everything resets except the heated seats which you have to turn on again.this can happen onceor several times in rapid succession. I have had this occur winter, spring summer and fall.i think it's a computer problem as something controls all these functions.
I filled the tank with gas, started to exit the station and the engine stalled. The out of fuel light came on even though it was full and it continued tostall and sputter.it has now happened three times since this first event and it is my understanding that this is a problem with this engine type.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. Upon attempting to turn off the vehicle, the key would not disengage from the ignition. The contact stated that the failure occurred on more than one occasion. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.
When the esp (electronic stabilization package) is engaged and i am pulling out into traffic and the tires slip, at all, the throttle releases and the car gets no power and will not accelerate. This lasts for approximately 3-5 second. I have to turn the esp off as not to get hit by oncoming traffic. The dealership said this was normal even though will i had it in to be checked i drove a chrysler 300 with esp and it did this but the throttle control came back within fractions of a second.nm
Dash lights and head lights flickering or going completely out at nightwhile driving. When i googled the problem. There were numerous dodge owners with the same issue. I went to the dealer and was informed it was a computer problem and would need replaced ($550.00) is the cost for the new computer!!!
Vehicle stalled multiple times after refueling.
Car stalling while stopped or at low cruising speeds. Then the car is hard to restart. After restarting the car will not go into gear for a while.
On 07/06/2018 started engine, within 30 seconds car shut off . As if i turned off the key.restarted car and shifted to reverse to back out of drive, stalled. Started car ,put car in reverse transmission would not ingage 15 to 20 seconds later car went into gear and stalled 4 times before car would move without stalling. Two tenths of a mile car stalled pulling out on main road. Car started would not move waited for transmission to engageas traffic is is starting to line up. Mile later car stalls again everthing off start car and wait for transmissionto go into gear. Thishappens ever day for the pass 2 monthsdodge dealer said my coils were bad had them changed next day same problem. Car now sits till something is done.dont feel safe driving on road. This happensmoving and stationary
Driving on highway car runs very rough when throttle indicator light flashes along with bas light on. Vibration of car nearly causes an accident. It occurs everytime i drive the car. It also occurs when at a stop light or sign. Sometimes it will stall or come close to stalling. I am very concerned with this. I have researched this on the internet and their are many people with these same problems. Having problems with dirty egr seals and or dirty throttle bodies.
I brought my 2006 dodge magnum to two dealerships to fix myproblem on both occasions i was told nothing they could do.the check engine light would always return after a day or two.one dealership in brooklyn even charged me money, say the car had to be sent to an outside shop.the problem is the oxygen sensor and the wire harness. The rear windows will not work,i was told it is because of the window tint which came with the car. The code on the computer at the service isp2096. My warranty is good until june or 36000 miles i have 20,000 miles on the car which i bought used from major world in long island city new york. I brought the car to brooklyn dodge about three times. And major dodge once. Can you please help me!
Without warning valve ring seat broke off fell into cylinder punching hole in piston. Bought a rebuilt motor for $7,000and 70k miles later the same thing happens. Both instances the motor was running.
After filling up my fuel tank and driving approximately 1/2 mile, the engine died. Restarted engine and it died again. After the third restart it continued to run. After having this occur approximately 12-15 times over the next 6 months, i discovered that if i fill it no more than14 gallons maximum, the problem will not occur. The problem is exactly what was reported in pe13016, however i have had the engine die at both low speeds and high speeds (50-65 mph).
After fill up and not topping off tank car will sputter or even die and have to be restarted several times for the first 10 or so mile.my car has died several times in busy traffic almost causing a rear end collision from cars behind me.
At low speeds and stops my car will shut off at random times. Sometimes 3-5 times in as short of a drive as 10 miles, mainly at intersections. Worst incident was pulling away from a stop sign making a left hand turn with a car coming the direction i was turning, i lost engine power as well as power-steering. In all instances i shut car off and restarted and was able to pull away, although in some cases it would not initially engage into drive. I first experienced after putting a full tank of gas in although now it does not matter the fuel level. It has been progressively getting more frequent.
Sudden engine stall few miles after fuel charge. These problems happened several months ago, and becoming more frequent almost every fuel charge. Whenengine stalled, it's difficult to restart. One incident was the sudden engine stall during driving causes me to panic due to losing power assist of steering and brakes, and almost hit side walk at my neighborhood. Asked dealership to see what was wrong, and they made some repairs to the fuel injection, and egr valve. But the problem was not fixed. It's very dangerous.
The first time a stall occurred i was stopped at a light when the car stalled.it took several tries to get the car started.the check engine light came on but then went off after several minutes.since then, the car has stalled on multiple occasions both while driving at highway speeds and at idle. Some of the stalls are only a split second, with multiple dash warning lights appearing before the car starts again on its own.unlike other complaints i have seen, it does not occur only after filling up the tank but is instead completely random.i have taken the car to the dealership and independent mechanics on at least six occasions.the dodge dealer had the car for a week on one occasion and was still unable to determine the problem.since they have been unable to replicate the issue the problem has not been fixed.not only is this problem extremely frustrating since mechanics have been unable to find a solution, it is also dangerous since power steering and brakes stop working when the car is stalled.
After filing the fuel tank, the engine will sputter and stall.when it first began to happen to me, it seemed like i was getting bad gas.now i know that this occurs primarily after i make a left turn and is due to a part that is inside the fuel tank.the part fails and the result is this problem with the engine stalling.this is a known problem with older magnums, chargers, and chrysler 300's.it is dangerous!!this has happened to be on interstate 95 and just when i got into the travel lane the engine died.i think the left turn i made was a few mile before i got to the entrance ramp and it caught me off-guard.i was lucky to be able to pull over and get onto the shoulder.this is a design failure and is not normal wear & tear.all of the older cars mentioned here can be affected.i assume you have received prior complains about this issue.dodge is no help, but should be required to fix this problem.thanks.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that the vehicle overheated and stalled. The contact stated that the failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired, but the dealer could not diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
After filling up at a local gas station, i drove away, about a quarter mile and stopped at a stop light. The engine stalled as i stopped. I shifted to neutral and attempted to restart the motor 3 times before it would run. Once started, i drove for about another mile, and when i slowed to make a right turn, it stalled again. I was able to restart and the vehicle ran fine after that. This is roughly the fourth time this has occurred. The last two times, i realized that they were immediately after a fill up.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that when the fuel tank was full, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that at a half tank the failure was not experienced. The contact inspected the vehicle himself and found that the fuel tank was defective. The contact stated that the fuel tank integral multi-functional control valve failed to operate as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer provided tsb 14-002-14 regarding the engine stall following fuel tank fill up. The contact was made aware of the manufacturer's x53 lifetime warranty extension. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.
Normal fill up at costco 91 octane - started to drive away the magnum srt8 stalled and the vehicle behind me leaving the parking lot hit me.could not get it to run correctly for about 30 minutes. My wife and baby in the car very worried.
While driving vehicle car will stall and only give about 5percent power.it can happen anytime has happened multiple times.dealer had vehicle for a month and cannot determine the issues. I was almost hit by moving vehicles multiple times.
On 4 occasions to date, the most recent occurring on 12/21/13, the engine stalls multiple times after refueling.all occasions occurred at idle.safety hazard exists while exiting vehicle on busy roads to push to side of the road.
After filling the car with gas, exited the gas station and proceeded through a parking lot at 10-15 mph and the engine stumbled followed immediately by a check oil light (no "check engine" light) and engine stopped running. I coasted to a stop, and attempted to restart the engine; after several attempts it started and i drove home without further incident. This happens regularly if i fill the fuel tank from a nearly empty condition (at on near "e"). The engine will always stumble once before it stops running. As such, i'm relegated to exercising caution after any/all fill-ups (drive around a parking lot for example) and never have kids in the car. Filling the tank from a 1/4 full condition seems to help.
Low fuel light came on, stopped at a gas station to fill up. I filled the tank full up to when the gas-refill-nozzle clicked off, and then a little more - up to the next whole dollar. Recapped my tank, and began to drive away. The engine bucked a bit then stalled. Was a bit harder than normal to get it restarted. Then slowed for the first traffic signal and it suddenly died in busy traffic! hard to get it restarted. Pulled away from the stop light and it bucked and stuttered some more and then cleared up in a couple miles. This has happened about 3 times since this behavior started. Two times for sure the car was running during the refill. I will pay attention in the future to see if it only happens during refill with it still running.
Had just filled up with fuel when taking off to cross the street the car died and had to be pushed to the side of the road. After a while it started up but died numerous times then was fine until next fill up. After a few days it started losing power when driving down the road then power came back.. This is unsafe due to the car slows down fast then powers back up.
After filling the car unpredictably stalls until about 1/2 gallon us used from the tank. Dealer quoted $1500 when incident first occured.
I experience 2 types of engine stall. First incident- car engine would stall at a stop light and happen several times. I completed a tune up thinking it was a spark plug and problem continues. My mechanic tested the car for one day and cannot tell me why it would stall. Second incident - car engine would stall at 10 miles per hour causing the car to stop which is dangerous.
My dodge magnum for the last year" total of 4 times"has stalled only after refueling alongwith the steering wheel locking. There is no warning !.no engine light.! the car just shuts down . But this last time it almost caused a accident.too close to a disaster.i had my child in the car .i have read the complaints on this site. And i know i am not the only one this happens to.why is this not being addressed !!! i have never had this happen to me with any other car i have owned. I baby my car with servicing . I have 134,282 miles. I haven't had a issue with the car ever.until now.i believe it's a faulty part. This isa life threatening issue.as well as the psychical stress not knowing when my car fails me. Why is this not a recall with the dodge magnum fuel system?which causes a vapor lock without warning.does someone have to loose a life to get this addressed ?
The mileage and date are approximates. The most recent occurrence was on 4/5/14 at about 69980 miles. When i fill up my gas tank, without "topping off", the engine will stall shortly afterwards when i am driving at low speeds. This will happen several time until the car has had time to sit for a period of time (hours to overnight). This usually occurs when i come to an intersection or i am moving at low speeds.
Car stalled after filling up had to restart stalled again on highway going approx 25mph. Happened several times after filling up thought bad gas but see pe13-016. Also on one occasion car would not start. Finally started with a lot of white smoke.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning on numerous occasions. The vehicle was diagnosed as having a miscommunication between the engine and the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 118,000.
The engine stalls after refueling, sometimes it will restart other times i have to sit like 15 minutes before it will restart.
After refueling vehicle to a full tank of gas, the vehicle will stall when driving.in some cases multiple times.there is no warning prior to the stall and the timing of the incident seems random - sometimes right away after fill-up, sometimes a few miles down the road.only occurs at full tank condition but does occur every time the tank is filled.when the vehicle stalls it is difficult to start back up - power steering and power brakes are lost during this time.once the vehicle has traveled 10-15 miles the problem seems to go away - until filling the gas tank again.it seems like an emissions systems type of problem - maybe part of the fuel tank venting system.there are other reports of this problem with similar type of vehicles (chrysler 300, dodge charger) on the internet.
Hi,i have a 2006 dodge magnum srt8.during the first incident in april 2014, my car stalled at lights and engine would not restart.i got gasoline after the first stall and it continued after i filled my tank with gas.the second incident just occurred last night 11/4/14 and i went to the gas station to fill the tank.i noticed a sound like air pressure was being released from my gas tank (normal from filling up) and then the car would not restart very easily and stalled.i was able to get the car started but it stalled at every idle at stop lights.i just noticed that though a google search that the fed is probing engine stalls on approx 192k chrysler/dodge models with the same issue.http://articles.latimes.com/2013/may/14/autos/la-fi-hy-chrysler-engine-stalls-20130514[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My dodge magum shut down on side of road then tried to turn on it overheated and started to caught on fire. The timing belt burnt through the head gaskets and now car is total. Only had this car from november 2016 to january 1st. No engine lights were showing . Really would like dodge to replace me for this car , the smoke from the engine cause me to suffer smoke inhalation. . The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the ems module intake had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,100.
While driving my magnum, the engine stopped completely.the car has done this since i have had it.it has been to three dodge dealerships, costing me hundreds of dollars, and the problem is never fixed.it seems that the car stops mostly when i first drive off in the morning and after filling up with gas.
I had just picked up the car in question after purchasing at a used car lot then drove it about 20 miles before i stopped for fuel at which time i filled the tank then as i went to pull out into the lane of traffic and began to pick up speed and at about 30 mphthe car began stuttering then it died. Luckily it started up before the cars coming hit me. I have since filed it up several timesbefore and realized that it was doing the same thing after each time i filled up , i then began doing some searching on the internet and seen that others were having the same issues so that led me to file this complaint.can someone please look into this before someone gets seriously hurt?
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle jerked. The contact had then shifted the vehicle in park and the engine stalled. The vehicle was unable to restart. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000. The vin was not available.
After filling my car and driving on the 710 freeway, while getting on the freeway the car just stalled. The steering got hard to turn as the vehicle was stalled. I managed to cruise to the side of the road and got the vehicle to start again. While driving it did it 2 more times until my gas started to go down.this happens almost every time i fill up the vehicle.
Engine stalled while driving minutes after filling the fuel tank.a known problem with these cars. Had to pull over and run the vehicle for 15 minutes before the engine could run steadily without stalling .
At 66,000 miles this car started to stall during low speed operation, around 30-40 mph.this continued on with multiple attempted, expensive tries by the dealer to fix it, including the unnecessary removal of a remote start system. Part of the fix attempts included installing a doorbell like button that i pushed whenever the event happened in an attempt for them to fault isolate.they replaced the ignition switch because it appeared to them that the system had been shut off.after that it was probably the control computer but no guarantee on that.computer has not been replaced.june 2014 this car had the gas tank replaced at a part of the non-recall 'extended warranty on the gas tank' fuel tank replacement.the car responded with a increase in horsepower/performance but not better stall performance.after a week or two the stall conditions returned and are more dangerous than ever.the car will stall pulling into traffic, it will stall during open road running (now at virtually any speed), or sitting at a traffic light.when it stalls, if the car has enough momentum it will restart and occasionally bolt forward due to the computer sensing the stall, especially dangerous in parking lots.a further feature is that if the 'check engine' light was on prior to the stall, it will be extinguished and no codes remain in the computer..
Car stalling while stopped or at low cruising speeds. Then the car is hard to restart. After restarting the car will not go into gear for a while.
After fuelling cardrive a few miles car stalls turns onthen drive and stalls again.
Dodge mag timing belt recalled. Car heated up after driving it for two months and the timing belt snapped and left me and my child on the side of the road , nothing indicated that it was heating up until the car shut down by itself when i was driving.
After filling the gas tank, the car stalled at the next 3 intersections and ran rough once on moderate acceleration.no engine codes or warning lights appeared.engine was able to be restarted nut only when depressing the accelerator pedal slightly.would not re-start otherwise. Problem resolved itself after about 15 minutes of operation. Since then, issue has re-surfaced approximately 6 times with similar symptoms; occasionally with engine stalling while the car is slowing down but still moving.all time are associated with the first few minutes of operation after filling the gas tank.
After refueling my 2006 dodge magnum stalled repeatedly. Restarting the car was very difficult. Most of the stalling episodes occurred when the car was at a standstill or moving at 5 mph or less. It also stumbled badly when driving at approximately 50 mph. One of he stalling episodes left me stranded for a short while in a busy intersection causing a traffic jam and creating a very dangerous situation.
I was driving when suddenly my car felt shaky and rough and started sputtering and losing idle unless i kept my foot on the gas. Car will start up but as soon as i take my foot off the gas it dies.engine light started blinking. Mechanic stated there is no compression in #4 cylinder of engine. Cost is estimated at $1800 just to tear engine down to further diagnose. Car was running excellently and next second this. No warning. My mileage was only 93899 at time of failure.
Engine stalls while driving, also stalls while car is not moving, whether in park, reverse, or drive the car shuts down and sometimes starts up immediately and sometimes it doesn't, if car is moving at speeds above 30 and the stall happens it will kick right back up on it's own.
I am the second owner of this vehicle purchased in 2007. At 60,000 i had the rack in pinion replaced at about 1000 dollars, next was the cooling fan at 75,000 miles (cost 700.00 dollars). Then at about 90,000miles the water pump, thermostat, tension pulley and timing belt had to be changed for a grand total of 1300 hundred. I am now at 100,000 miles. I have had suspension issues since about 40,000 miles have maintained oil changes and maintenance. This seems unfair!
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 63,000.
The car stalls soon after refilling the fuel tank, the filling was stopped when the pump automatically shuts off.this is a safety concern because it has happened while driving straight on a street, and also while turning onto a highway.the car becomes difficult to maneuver due to the loss of power assist provided to the steering and brakes by the engine.this appears to be caused by a lack of fuel to the engine.the car has restarted, so far, after a few seconds sitting still in the traffic.
I went to the parking lot at my dr.s office to go home. I started the engine and there was a loud rattling type sound and the engine stalled. It would not stay running. Lots of smoke when started. I had the car towed to the local dodge dealer for diagnosis. Was told the next day that there was over 90% compression. Loss. Internal cylinder or other failure indicated. Recommended tear down for $1850.00only 80,000 miles, serviced regularly by the dealer.no warning. I declined the teardown and had car towed home. Has been parked since october 2016. Retired/disabled. I cannot afford any major repair. Factory defect should be fixed by manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while traveling 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted and resumed normal function. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Valve seat in 5.7 hemi dropped and damaged engine while driving, coasted car to a stop and turned off. Tried to start but ran really rough or wouldn't start. No check engine light or warning, vehicle is undrivable. When this happened felt like the car was gonna blow up and engine overheated.
The car stalls, shuts off while driving. Had both of the top 02 sensor replaced. A repair told me my oil pressure sensor was bad got that replaced. Call the service center and tell them the problem and they said my computer needed to be reset. That didn't work.
My car (2006 dodge magnum 5.7 hemi)was running totally fine.... No warnings of any kind. I turned it off to run into the gym and it wouldn't start. A diagnostic test was run and they said the piston blew and it needs a new engine
For four years my vehicle stalls each time i put gasoline in the tank.on several occasions i have stalled in an intersection as well as busy roads.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 mph the vehicle stall without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and it was taken to a dealer. The mechanic could not diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without any warning. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred multiples times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 83,000 and the current mileage was 86,200.
After filling up gas car stalls out while driving, will start back up but shuts down again.going up hill car stalls and shuts off i have to hit the gas pedal to keep it running.
Car stalls randomly when fuel tank is full or after fill up. May stall without warning when in motion or stationary. This is a known issue with this model and similar models. Cause is a faulty fuel tank.
Hello, in the last 6 months, every time i put gas in, whether i fill it up or not, weather i top it off or not, the engine will run erratically, often stalling multiple times for no reason. It has stalled on the highway, at highway speed, at any other speeds, and going through turns, needless to say, with no engine i have no power steering. I have the strength to keep the car under control, but a less experienced or less strong driver may loose control, possibly with serious consequences. After the car sits for a few hours, it will usually run ok. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Vehicle began to just shut off when not in motion. Took the car to auto shop to be repaired. After spending more money than expected to fix what the mechanic thought was the problem, we still were having the same issue. Finally, wte received a recall notice on the gas tank. After waiting months for chrysler to send the dealership a gas tank for our car, we finally brought the vehicle in to be repaired. Changed out the gas tank , dealership kept the car a few days to test it out, called us to pick up the car. On the way home, the vehicle kept killing. Took it back to the dealership and they they kept the car for almost two months trying to figure out the problem, but they were unsuccessful in diagnosing the problem. As of today the car is still shumtting off and nobody can figure out the problem. The car only has 45000 miles.
The car seems to be running fine one minute when i come up to the traffic light while it is in gear the engine shuts off the next problem is driving down the road the lights go off and on sometimes don't come back on for two or three minutes very annoying when you're driving at night with no headlights an oncoming traffic
I have been having some problems with my 2006 dodge magnum rt for the past year:1. Car stall at a stop light or stop sign (engine would start again)2. Car will lose power (hesitate for about 2-3 seconds and it would chime)3. Engine died on the freeway and had to pull over (very dangerous)dodge replace the gas tank 2 times and still not repaired. The dodge dealer in elk grove ca charged me $140 and i according to the recall it should be waived. There are a lot of people having the same issues and someone should look into this because it is very dangerous.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and could not be restarted immediately. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but the failure could not be replicated. The failure recurred numerous times over the course of eight months. The vehicle was taken to three different dealers but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was notified and offered the contact eight oil changes at their expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 111,000 and the current mileage was 127,000.
Went to parking lot after dr. Appointment to go home. Tried to start engine, made a rattling sound and died. Restarted, made more of the rattling noise. Had car towed home. Towed car to local dodge dealer the next day for inspection. Was left bank spark plugs removed. 2 spark plugs were bent/damaged. Leakdown test on #1 cylinder 90% leakage measured. Internal damage indicated..on;y 80k miles. Well maintained.
Time: after a fuel refill earlier in the day (always ask gas station attendant to -not- top off the tank and usually provide an exact number of gallons to make sure the gauge will read just under full after the gas refill)event: car stalled while being driven at about 25mphthis is a safety issue as the car will stall at just about anytime (on the highway, making a turn, driving along suburban roads).at this time the only solution i have been able to implement is to rev the engine significantly fast after the refuel and/or drive in 1st or 2nd gear (by downshifting via the transmission gear shifter) for at least 10minutes of driving time.it has now been 6 months since the last activity on the current nhtsa pe13-016 investigation (last activity referred to on the website was august of 2013).this is a safety issue and a recall is clearly needed to address this safety issue.can someone at nhtsa please post an update on the investigation?
I started having problems with my 2006 magnum srt8 this past winter. With absolutely no warning while driving approximately 10 mph in drive, the engine cutoff and lost all power completely. I also lost all power steering and power brakes. Thank goodness i was on a back road. All of the warning lights flashed on and off and then the check engine light came on. I had to put the car back in park, completely turn off the ignition and restart the car. It restarted without any problems. I drove a few more miles and the exact same thing happened. Again, lucky i was on a back road!! i made it home and it stalled a 3rd time just as i pulled it into the garage. Again, completely random while driving!!!! i took it to my local dealership who could not re-create the problem. I paid for the 60,000 mile service and did not have issues again until this past weekend when the same issue occurred 5 times in 2 days. Again, completely random while driving!!. Dangerous. These particular times occurred after filling the gas tank. I have read multiple similar complaints. Something needs to be done before someone gets killed on the road. I will be taking my car into the dealership once again for diagnostics. I am an anesthesiologist and it doesn't take to one to realize that this is a serious safety issue that needs complete attention and a complete investigation. I love my car but i do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Dodge and nhtsa, you cannot ignore this. Please feel free to contact me as i will be contacting you.
Vehicle stalled multiple times after refueling.
Stalled while traveling 65mph, then refired several times. Leaving from a stoplight the magnum died in the middle of two intersecting highways, restarted, then died again. Issues started shortly after re-fueling with a full tank. Now, after a month, the stalling occurs as low as 1/4 of a tank of fuel. Will run fine for a couple days, then with no warning, stalling comes back and is currently on-going.
I have owned this 2006 dodge magnum se v6 2.7l from new, bought in april 2006, the problem i'm having is with the car stalling, without any notice, happening today when turning left at a stop light and starting uphill. I was able to restart the car after pulling to the right without power, coming to a stop, putting the car in park, and restarting. I made it back home, but the car has been cranking over and not starting when in my garage, this after filling up with gas. I've had this issue happen before from 2006 onward to today, only a few times a year, and changed out the fuel pump relay each time and thought that was the problem, but the car has never stalled while driving before now, only when sitting at a light or stop sign after filling up the tank. The car only has 73,000 miles now after 13 years, i always baby the car and it still looks new. Thanks for any help with this matter
Immediately after filling gas tank with new fuel the following has happened several times:the car will start at the gas station but shortly after leaving the gas station (within a block or when getting back onto the highway from a rest stop) the car will stall.the stall can happen at a traffic light or even on the way to reaching highway speeds.at this time my solution to the problem has been to rev the engine in neutral for a bit after getting the gas tank filled with fresh gasoline.
The magnum continually stalls after fill up. We have made a concerted effort not to over fill the vehicle, but it continues to stall for a few miles after fill up. This has been an ongoing issue for almost 20,000 miles now. This is a major safety issue. Either my wife or i have almost been rear-ended due to stalling in traffic. The dealer says they can fix it for around $1400. This should be a safety recall, not something dumped on the owner. When you go to all the mopar blogs, this issue is common on all 06 - 07 chargers, magnums and chrysler 300s. They know it's the check valve, and know it was a poor design, but too bad consumer.
Vehicle stalls repeatedly after filling up with gas.
I have a 2006 dodge magnum r / t v8 5.7lts. On july 24, 2015 i was using my car as usual, i went to the bank, i went to turn off the vehicle mail when i return to my car i'll lights on and the engine failing with an internal noise. I turn off the engine immediately, i call my mechanic and tells me to call a tow truck and to take the vehicle. When the mechanic check the car informs me that he will open the motor. When you open the engine informs me damage a valve seat and it had damaged the piston. The vehicle has never been heated, before turning it off in the mail was working very well. The car only has 60,000 miles, has its daily maintenance, the vehicle is not in daily use. Take valve caps fix the machine shop and was told that the tops of these engines hemi has manufacturing defect and is not been the only one with that kind of problem. Chrysler (triangle) puerto rico dealer is aware of this problem but have not done anything about it.
After gas fill up, engine will die when stopping, and die in motion but restart itself, for 5 or 10 miles. This condition is ongoing since march 2014.condition has also happened randomly on one occasion.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While driving at approximately 10 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The contact also stated that the failure occurred after refueling the vehicle. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.
Sitting idle at light cad died.restarted and drove approximately 1 mile and card died again after coming to stop. Restarted and drove into a parking lot and car died again when trying to pull into parking stall.restarted and then turned vehicle off to wait for help.vehicle has very low miles (50k +) and has always been dependable until now.drove vehicle to local mechanic (because dealership about 25 minutes away and was concerned about dependability).mechanic connected to computer and performed two road tests but could not duplicate problem.have called dodge and local dealership and they are unwilling to help.
Dropped valve seat: after traveling about 800 miles from massachusetts to north carolina, without any indication of a problem, i got off the freeway and i stopped at a mcdonalds to use my cell phone and i turned off the car, after about 5 mins. I attempted to restart the car and it wouldn't start, then as the engaine turned over it began to make clunking sounds.i had the car towed to a near by dodge dealer, where i was told that the engine failed, costing me $8,466.33 to replace the engine because it was out of warranty.the car is well maintained and i have all the service records showing that this failer shouldn't had happened.chrysler needs to own the flaw in 2005-2007 hemi 5.7 engine and chrysler needs to refund me the $8,465.33 that i had to spend to buy a new engine.
The car stalls at stop lights mostly but has recently started stalling on the freeway.
After filling up with gas, upon driving the car will die. At approximately 5mph the car will suddenly die and will not respond. Car will not start until after a few minutes of sitting. No cel lights or codes thrown.
I ran out of fuel on my way to gas station. Called aaa, they brought me 1 gal of gas. Car started fine and drove to gas station (4 miles) with no problems. After filling tank car stalled repeatedly while driving on street (5 or 6 times on way home, maybe 5 miles). Problem occurred several times for the next week. Never had this happen before. Since this time everytime i fill the gas tank the problem re-appears and car stalls while driving or at stop light. Problem persists for a week or so. Also, when the car stalls and the engine is re-started the transmission won't engage for 10 to 15 seconds after shifting into drive. This problem seems to occur the most right after i fill up and gradually disappears as fuel level gets lower. After a week or so the car runs fine, no stalling. The car is not driven daily so it takes a while to burn some of the gas out. I've probably filled the tank 4 times since original onset of problem. I am the original owner of this vehicle.
Vehicle stalled shortly after refueling when beginning to accelerate after having been stopped at intersection. This problem continued to occur regularly after refueling. It occurred both when the vehicle is stopped and also while in motion. Restarting the vehicle was sometimes difficult. Once restarted the vehicle frequently surged while driving for several minutes of operation until returning to normal. This problem and its associated symptoms should be considered as a safety risk. As of april 2013, i no longer own this vehicle.my wife presently experiences this problem with her 2006 dodge magnum srt-8 with the 6.1l engine. She has also filed a vehicle safety complaint.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum.the engine light began illuminating three months after the vehicle was purchased.the dealer stated that the engine and the oil pump caused the failure and both components were repaired.currently, the transmission is slipping gears and the vehicle will no longer shift into reverse.the powertrain was unknown.the current mileage was 50,738 and failure mileage was 48,000.updated 3/7/08 the egine was making a tapping noise.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum.while driving 40 mph, the vehicle began misfiring just days after it was repaired.when the contact attempts to accelerate, the vehicle hesitates and the engine shuts off.the mechanic stated that the power is unevenly distributed in the engine, which caused the engine coils to burn.the dealer replaced the burned engine coils at the cost of $400, however, they were unable to diagnose the loss of fire.the dealer also performed a diagnostic on the vehicle, but less than a week later, the failure recurred.the vehicle stalled on four occasions and is currently unable to be driven.the engine indicator light illuminated.the dodge manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and were unable to provide assistance.the vehicle was repaired on august 27, 2007 and the failure recurred on august 28, 2007.the contact is aware of the safety risk involved.the powertrain was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 48,000.
I brought a 2006 dodge magnumin march of 2007 with 19,230miles.the engine is now at 50,000 miles and the engine is no good.the dodge company can't tell even tell me the problem with the engine.
The same day i bought the vehicle the oil light was on, next day off, complain to the dealer...it went to the shop ...they couldn't find anything...next day light back on..they sent it to the shop again.....next day guess what, yes light back on..they don't have a clue....this is crazy.....someone messed up.....need to be corrected.....not asking for blood, just fix my car....will this kill my family? who the heck knows!!!! it'sa manufacturer problem that needs attention.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle overheated. The contact drove onto the emergency lane and after thirty minutes added water to the radiator reservoir. The vehicle was taken to several authorized dealerships but the dealers could not find the duplicate or diagnose the failure. The contact also smelled smoke in the vehicle. The contact stated that someone else drove the vehicle and observed that the temperature and oil light illuminated on the instrument panel prior to the engine shutting off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was informed that the oil pump failed. The dealer was also inspecting to see if the water outlet valve was defective at when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. The current mileage was 90,359.
Sudden engine stall mostly few miles after fuel charge. This problems were happened from several months ago, and becoming more frequent almost every fuel charge. When stall engine, it's difficult restart few minutes. One case sudden stall at driving makes me panic loosing power assist of steering and brake, almost hit side walk at my neighborhood. Asked dealership to see and made some repair for fuel injection, egr valve. But problem was not fixed. It's very dangerous.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While driving approximately 50 mph, the temperature gauge stopped working and the oil light illuminated. The vehicle shut off completely and had to be towed to the dealer. The technicians stated the vehicle had overheated; the engine was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated they would return the call but had not done so. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.
2006 dodge magnum srt 6.1 has stalled several times.it is hard to restart after it stalls.it has been to dealership once for the problem, however it continues to occur at random.
Over the course of the past six months, my engine has missed and stalled after refueling.this occurs after each refueling and is a safety concern as there is no warning then the stall may occur.i've now incurred a very large expense of $2,340 to repair the problem.this is quite obviously a problem that chrysler is aware of and i understand the matter is being investigated.i hope that car owners such as me will be reimbursed for the expense of this costly repair.
Vehicle stalled two times after filling gas tank.difficult to restart--had to try 3-4 times to get the car to restart.each stalling incident occurred as i came to a stop.
About a week ago i noticed a ticking/tapping noise coming from the engine.i took it to firestone not knowing if it was something serious.after inspecting the vehicle he states that it sounded like a lifter but he was not sure, so i took it to the dealership. Since my check engine light was not on there were no codes for them to look up.so i was quoted this ridiculous price to have my engine looked at.i declined and took the vehicle to another local mechanic who verified that it was a lifter.the vehicle only 41,000 miles on it and the warranty expired at 36,000 miles.
Whenever i fill my gas tank, the vehicle will stall within one or two blocks from gas pumps. It can happen at 20 miles an hour or less. It can happen entering a highway at 50 miles per hour. The car will start right up and will normally run fine after stalling. On one or two occasions it stalled twice after a fill up. Lately it happens after each fill up regardless of gas station or brand of gas.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum.the contact noticed that the engine warning indicator sporadically illuminated on the instrument panel.he took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the thermostat.two weeks after the repair, he took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that the fans were defective and were not cooling the engine properly.secondly, because the vehicle exceeded its warranty, the contact would have to pay $6,000 to have the engine replaced.as of march 20, 2009, the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure and current mileages were 48,000.
My dodge magnum has about 47,000 miles.i noticed in november that i was getting a faint ticking noise from the engine bay while the car was sitting idle.a couple weeks later, it started getting louder and progressed when the vehicle was accelerated.took it to the dealership, and they had no clue.my car ended up being at the dealership for a whole month.finally, they figured out that it was the rocker arms (all of them) which had broken pins and had to be replaced along with the lifter.this should not happen in a vehicle that only has 47,000 miles.the only thing that saved me an arm and a leg was the fact that the dealership couldn't figure it out and cut me some slack.my engine had to be broken down and put back together 3 times before they got it right.have heard similar issues about this, so it needs to be made aware that the rocker arms fail on these vehicles very early as well as the lifter.if gone unchecked, could've caused engine failure.i never missed an oil change and have since switched to synthetic oil to be safe.
2006 dodge magnum sxt april 14, 2008 - faint tapping noise from motor started 3 weeks.it could only be heard while standing next to the motor.april 10, 2008 tapping because very loud, you could hear the noise in the cab of the car.april 14, 2008 - dealer calls, 3 failed rocker arms, 1 intake 2 exhaust.
On or about june 6, 2006, i purchased a2006 dodge magnum 3.5 liter engine and received a letter in later that year advising ofrecall an defect in the engine. The vehicle was taken in for inspection and i was told that my car was not applicable to the recall. In july 2007, the car was taken in because of claking noise coming from the engine. The car was diagnosed and valves from the engine was changed.in june 2008 the car cut off and the check engine light appeared. The vehicle was immediately taken to the dealer for diagnostic and correction. The findings where that the thermostat had to be replaced. Recently my car has been take to the dealer because a recurring noise and issue that was address in july 2007 and the dealer and manufacture is denying liability for the noise and issue. The dodge dealer located in cerritos is alleging that they have contacted chrysler who alleges that the noise of complaint is normal for my vehicle, but i never heard this notice until july 2007 and valves was changed and know the issue has recurred. In addition, to the aforementioned, there has been a continuous issue and complaint with the brake coming on.the vehicle has been taken in for examination and the dealer alleges that there are no issues with the brake light.recently as of september 2008, the cerritos dodge dealer alleges that the brake fluid is low on the vehicle which is causing the light to continuous come on.however, the brake light has been coming on since two months after the purchase of the vehicle and have addressed the brake light issue at regular maintenance appointments and they have never mentioned that the brake fluid los. Please advise.i have further documentation to provide if required and i also can provide a detail explanation and complaint.
I started to hear a tapping from the engine and the rpms would drop as i sat at a traffic light. I thought i might have an oil pressure problem. I took it to a garage and the mechanic checked the oil pressure. Which was ok. Then he said i had a bad lifter-rocker arm.
On 12 mar 11, i heard a clanking noise coming from my 2006 dodge magnum engine.i took the car in on mon, 14 mar 11, to a repair shop an was told i needed a new engine.before i could return the next day to drop the car off, the engine stopped.i had the car towed to a repair shop and was told the timing chain had broken and there was oil sludge build up.my dodge has only 63k miles and preventive maintenance is performed every 3,000 miles.the car has not yet been repaired.i am seeking some sort of resolution with dodge to correct this issue.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum.while driving 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly began to accelerate automatically.the contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle would still accelerate to speeds higher than 70 mph.he had to turn off the engine in order to stop the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that a fuel induction cleaning service was needed.the contact did not notice any differences beforehand.the current and failure mileages were 42,000.
I brought a 2006 dodge magnumin march of 2007 with 19,230miles.the engine is now at 50,000 miles and the engine is no good.the dodge company can't tell even tell me the problem with the engine.
I have a 2005 dodge hemi magnum. Just recently everytime i drive it with the windows up or down you can smell an engulfing amount of exhaust fumes.i took it into underwood dodge (wooster, ohio), made them drive with me so they could smell it, and they did.they called today and said there is nothing wrong with it.well that's nice i'm driving around with myself, my wife and kids.are we someday going to arrive at our destination with someone dead from these fumes?when they smelled the smell how can they say there is nothing wrong?
Dt*:the contact stated while driving at no particular speed, the throttle control light illuminated and the vehicle lost power.the vehicle did not stall, however the rpm's never exceeded 1800.the vehicle was taken to the local dealership for inspection.the dealer determined the accelerator pedal sensor needed replaced.after the sensor was replaced, another problem arose.driving at no specific speeds, a loud bang was heard coming from the rear of the vehicle in the exhaust system.the contact described the sound as a muffled explosion type noise.the vehicle was taken to the dealership several times for inspection.however, the problem could not be duplicated and no repairs were made.the manufacturer was alerted and informed the contact the engineering department would investigate.updated 03/03/06.
I purchased a 2006 magnum from lithia of fairfield in may of this year, 2006.the vehicle was running fine for the first five months (may-oct) with the only distraction being one of the rear windows operated fine from both power switches for 90% of the time.i took it in during routine warranty service and explained to one of the service managers but because the power window switches were operable that day i was told there was nothing they could do (that didn't sit to well with me, but i shrugged it off and said ok).in october, a few other incidents happened like the blue tooth quit communicating with the system.i figured to wait until my next routine service maintenance to have it looked at in a few weeks.around the same time frame i noticed the vehicle did not shift smoothly into reverse and that while sustaining a steady highway cruising speed the vehicle would feel like it wasn't firing on all cylinders if i gradually increased the rpms.i made note and asked to have this investigate at the same time i was taking the vehicle in for the scheduled maintenance.unfortunately (or fortunate, depending on point of view of surviving a highway accident), the transmission failed while on the way to work driving on a very, very busy and dangerous stretch of road where the average speed is about 75 mph.the fortunate part of this being i was able to limp along for about one half mile on newly completed shoulder of the road to an exit.i literally shudder, which sends chills down my spine, to think "what if my wife had been driving the vehicle?".
When wanting to indicate a right turn, the signal indicated left and vice-versa.this is intermittent, but dangerous.it did not happen often, leading me to think it stopped, but is getting more frequent.also, key will not turn over engine intermittently.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. Within weeks of owning the vehicle, the air bag indicator illuminated. The unknown independent dealer who sold the contact the vehicle made no mention of the fact that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v352000 (air bags). In addition, the battery save mode indicator illuminated, the vehicle jerked, and the speed drastically reduced. The contact had to drive cautiously and potentially utilize the hazard lights when the failure occurred. Various warning indicators flashed on the instrument panel, such as the bac and skid control which also intermittently illuminated. Also, the head lamps shorted out several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and diagnostic testing. The vehicle was serviced by an unknown dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was not available.
Dash lights and head lights flickering or going completely out at nightwhile driving. When i googled the problem. There were numerous dodge owners with the same issue. I went to the dealer and was informed it was a computer problem and would need replaced ($550.00) is the cost for the new computer!!!
While driving at night on a 4 lane highway at 55mph, my headlights and dash lights flickered off for 3 to 5 seconds a few times and then back on. This happens randomly as i drive, and now i cannot drive the car at night.
After fueling the car up it stalled out several times (in traffic) while driving.this has happened on two other occasions since then.upon stopping and restarting, the vehicle engine surged and stalled again.it is my understanding this is due to a faulty check valve within the fuel tank.
Whenever i fill up my 2006 dodge magnum 5.7 rt, it dies without notice afterwards.it usually takes about 10 miles to work out all of the dieing and stalling before it works normally.this happens everytime the gas tank is filled to the top.i was almost in an accident when this happened, so i'm very paranoid after getting gas now, this should be fixed by dodge.
After filling up at the gas station, i was attempting to get back on the freeway when the car stalled at the stop sign.i received help in pushing the car out of the busy intersection.due to the instrument panel warning lights i checked the oil levels and if the gas cap was secured properly.both were fine and i was able to start the car and drive to the on-ramp of the freeway when it stalled again.i was barely able to coast to the side of the busy on-ramp and was a hazard to the many semi trucks making the turn onto the freeway.after waiting for almost an hour for the car to cool i checked the oil again.it was full and fresh after being serviced recently.a chp officer spotted me on the ramp and i informed him of which panel lights lit up and the what the manual suggested.he wanted to check if i had oil pressure and suggested i attempt to turn it on.indeed the pressure was fine but the car had a rough idle, sputtered and died again.after turning it over again there was a strong smell of fuel, i tried revving the engine.it died again.the chp officer and i agreed it was a fuel problem and informed me it would be cheaper if i called a tow truck than if he did and said he would be back to check on me.i was able to get the car running long enough to back off the on-ramp and into a parking lot.it died two more times.after getting it started again i revved the engine until it idled properly and went home.while researching the problem on lxforums.com i became aware of a faulty gas tank issue which was the cause.while i'm grateful i was driving slowly when this happened it was still a safety hazard to myself and others to have a car die so suddenly.apparently, chrysler is aware of this problem and i will be submitting this issue to them as well.on lxforums.com a surprising number of vehicles have this same problem.thank you for your time.
Vehicle stalling after fuel fill-up. The temporary fix of not "topping off" the tank worked for a few months. The problem is happening more frequently however, regardless of the fuel level. Car shutting off/losing power randomly is a severe safety hazard.
2nd submission - i did not get a confirmation of my first one and i have more information.my 2006 dodge magnum with the 5.7l hemi has had and continues to have the issues outlined in nhtsa investigation pe 13016. It stalls out after fueling.it has now starting doing it when the weather gets much warmer during the day.i have contacted chrysler via e-mail and was told my vehicle was not covered by the extension of the warranty on the gas tank and associated parts.i have contacted billion here in sioux falls and also papik in luverne mn and neither service department has heard of this issue, the investigation, or the fix.at thing point i may just have my local shop that i use fix it as it has become very nerve racking to drive.i should not have to pay out of pocket for something the company has committed to fix.i did download a copy of the letter from the nhtsa website that was linked to the investigation page.i never received a copy of this letter from chrysler which is probably because i am the second owner of this car.i would appreciate any help you can provide.
Engine stalls while driving, also stalls while car is not moving, whether in park, reverse, or drive the car shuts down and sometimes starts up immediately and sometimes it doesn't, if car is moving at speeds above 30 and the stall happens it will kick right back up on it's own.
Just filled the tank and was leaving the gas station and the car stalled at the stop sign.car continued to stall for several minutes and was hard to start each time, seems to stall at both low and high speeds.it's very dangerous for the car to just stall in mid traffic.this has happened numerous times since then until i realized it only happens when the gas tank is full.took it to dealer today and they confirmed it is due to the fuel tank rollover valve sticking and blocking a vent.only solution is to replace the entire gas tank.car stalled once today on the way to the dealer service center (they wanted it with a full tank) and then three times on my way home after the completion of their analysis.it will continue to stall until the tank level goes down a gallon or so of fuel.
Had filled up gas tank, upon pulling out experienced engine hesitation and lack of power.a few minutes later while passing though a major intersection with 3 children in car, vehicle stalled, causing loss of power steering and of course any means of propulsion.the vehicle started again but stalled three more times before returning home.this is an extremely hazardous situation which can endanger lives in a high speed and high traffic situation.
Engine stalls every time fuel tank is filled. Typically occurs at an idle immediately after fillup. Leaves me stranded in traffic and has caused several near miss accidents due to stalling at low speed, or acceleration from a low speed. Has stalled while pulling out into traffic, causing people to swerve out of my way almost causing several collisions.
Accelerator pedal bracket broke leaving the vehicle with the ability to idle only. I was at an 8 lane intersection, very busy spot, the traffic control lights weren't working, they were flashing red. I was preparing to make a left hand turn, nobody wants to let you turn, traffic was backed up big time. I started to turn and hit the gas petal and the car stopped in the middle of my turn. Next thing i'm looking at a truck right at me and there was nothing i could do to quickly get out of the way to avoid an accident or save my own life. The petal, bracket & wiring liedon the floor-useless. In my opinion this is a serious safety issue, what if this happened to a squad car, i'll bet sure the chargers the police use are built the same way. Well i suppose the criminal would get away because the police could only idle to catch them. I took pictures if interested.
I had stopped in the waco, tx area to fill up with gas on my way to italy, tx.i filled my vehicle up with gas, started it, and was entering in some gps coordinates when the car shuddered and died.this was the first time it happened.since then it has probably happened 18-24 times, always immediately following a fill up at the gas station.sometimes it dies in traffic, other times the engine will surge as if i had touched the accelerator pedal while sitting at a red light.
Vehicle stalled two times after filling gas tank.difficult to restart--had to try 3-4 times to get the car to restart.each stalling incident occurred as i came to a stop.
Failed fuel tank control valve has caused the gas to contaminate the vapor canister and purge valve. After every fill up when i pull out into traffic the car will die out in front of on coming cars.
After refueling and filling up the tank, the car will shutdown under braking, cornering or at a stop.this happened so frequently i no longer fill the tank and stop at 3/4.there are several instances reported both here and in canada on the car forums.the fix has been either replacing the tank and/or the evap valve and pump.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum with 71,173 miles. The contact stated when driving the vehicle at any speeds the vehicle will stall. The contact also stated that when filling up the vehicle that would also to cause the vehicle to stall. This failure has happened multiple times over the last year. The contact had contacted the dealer about this failure and was told that defect investigation pe13016 (fuel system, gasoline) will be recalled in the future. The vehicle had not been repaired. Blupdated 05/28/14*ljthe consumer stated the dealer advised the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. Updated 05/30/2014
After fueling car to near the full mark i was attempting to enter the traffic flow on interstate 75 at ocala. The car lost power and the engine died ( no power brakes or steering) attempted to restart car in neutral while attempting to maintain control of car. Traffic was running 70mph and i was merging into the traffic flow. The car would not restart acting as if flooded. Luckily i was driving and not my wife who has muscular dystrophy as she would not have been able to control the car. My research indicates the problem is known by dodge and is related to a purge vent valve in the fuel tank. It seems the velvet sticks open and allows gas , not just the fumes to be recirculated to the throttle body (intake) and floods the engine. Dodge states this problem can affect all dodge charger, magnum and 300 model cars. It requires a fuel tank replacement as the purge valve is incorporated into the tank itself.
Car stalls after fueling rendering all power assisted features useless..ie: power steering & power brakes.wife and kids almost rear ended in normal traffic and t-boned when turning left in intersection!!!!!!!please help!!!!!!
Had just filled fuel tank and vehicle stalled before getting out of gas station driveway. I was coming to a stop as exiting station and while braking (almost at a full stop), experienced a quick engine surge and then engine stalled. Luckily i was at a stop, shifted to park and restarted vehicle. The same thing happened less than a mile away as i was making a rightturn, without power steering the vehicle was now stalled in the oncoming lane. I came to a full stop, shifted to park and restarted again. Luckily i was less than a mile from my office and just parked vehicle there. The same thing happened when i last filled my tank (approx 10 days ago), stalling several times before i could get out of the costco parking lot. On that occasion, i congested traffic for several minutes while waiting for the vehicle to restart and head home. It didn't occur again during the subsequent days, but today i fueled up again and got the exact same issue - so it's definitely something related to the fueling process. I've had the vehicle since it was brand new and this is a new issue.
When vehicle fuel tank is filled with gasoline, car will stall and cut out and run very rough. Car has stalled several times when pulling out in traffic and is a safety concern for my wife and family when traveling in this car. Vehicle has started doing this every time the fuel tank is filled. Was told not to overfill tank and i do not overfill it. Have read that the only fix is replacing the fuel tank because of a faulty valve(?),which is a very expensive repair.
Engine stalls every time fuel tank is filled. Typically occurs at an idle immediately after fillup. Vehicle fuel system completely compromised leaving drivers stranded in traffic and has caused several near miss accidents due to stalling at low speed, or acceleration from a low speed. Has stalled while pulling out into traffic. Has stalled on freeway forcing unsafe situations. Fuel system now defective due to recurring incidents. Only resolution is to replace defective fuel, because the car is unsafe to drive.
When the contact filled up the tank, he noticed that the top of the fuel tank was defective. The fuel tank top (the malfunction control valve) allowed fuel to leak into the purge line, which caused the engine to stall in traffic. Central florida chrysler dodge jeep ram (8675 commodity cir, orlando, fl 32819, (321) 445-8017) stated that the vehicle met the criteria for technical service bulletin: 14-002-14 issued on april 22, 2014; however, the vin was not included and the contact was denied coverage for the repairs. The manufacturer stated that the coverage was excluded for the vehicle and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 40,000. *as *pmconsumer stated fuel tank failed 2nd time in june of 2019 at 112,000 miles and had a lifetime part warranty on it. Consumer stated the 1st recall has been honored.
Vehicle stalled when stopped at intersection very shortly after refueling. This problem continues to occur regularly after refueling. It has occurred both when the vehicle is stopped and also while in motion. Restarting the vehicle is sometimes difficult. Once restarted the vehicle frequently surges while driving for several minutes of operation until returning to normal. This problem and its associated symptoms should be considered as a safety risk.my husband also experienced this problem with his 2006 dodge magnum rt with the 5.7l engine, recently traded in for a different vehicle.
Approximately 10 miles after the latest gasoline fill up, the car stalled at an intersection.
I filled the tank with gas, started to exit the station and the engine stalled. The out of fuel light came on even though it was full and it continued tostall and sputter.it has now happened three times since this first event and it is my understanding that this is a problem with this engine type.
Just after filling my gas tank on this vehicle, i experienced stalling 3 times, including in an intersection. Had the vehicle towed to the dealer. After inspection, they reported that it was the rollover valve in the fuel tank. I alerted them to the chrysler extended warranty, they reported that my vin is not covered as part of this warranty. I feel this isunacceptable on the part of chrysler as it is the exact problem that is described in the warranty. This needs to be extended to all vehicles as it is a huge safety issue as stalling in an intersection is highly dangerous.
The engine stalls after refueling, sometimes it will restart other times i have to sit like 15 minutes before it will restart.
After filling up with gas, upon driving the car will die. At approximately 5mph the car will suddenly die and will not respond. Car will not start until after a few minutes of sitting. No cel lights or codes thrown.
Vehicle stalled as i was making a u-turn.vehicle required 3 attempts to restart and after successfully starting the vehicle, transmission would not engage for approximately 5 seconds.
I filled the gas tank up, got in car and when i was merging on freeway car jerked several times and died.i was almost hit by multiple cars. Got car into neutral was able to restart but it died several more times. Now every time i fill it up the car dies in traffic at speed. I am afraid to drive it. The dealer says it is a faulty fuel tank but will not warranty the repair. I have done research and have found several forums with many people having this same issue with the dodge magnum and chrysler 300. This is a safety issue and could get somebody killed if it hasn't already.
On 4 occasions to date, the most recent occurring on 12/21/13, the engine stalls multiple times after refueling.all occasions occurred at idle.safety hazard exists while exiting vehicle on busy roads to push to side of the road.
The vehicle begin to stall or shut-off after filling tank up, if it did not shut-off the car, it (car) would shutter for a couple of miles before car ran normal.
Filled up fuel tank, started running rough right afterwards, stalling out when pulling up to stop light, cleared up after driving for awhile, only happens when i fill up, will not happen if i don't completely fill fuel tank.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact was driving 25 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred three times. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive to the dealer for diagnosis, where it was advised that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.
Second incident: november 27, 2014 driving to van nuys, ca from simi valley, ca at approx. 5:30 pm, filled up gas tank and proceeded down street towards freeway onramp, car stalled 3 times before getting on freeway. This is the second incident (happened two weeks prior, also following fuel fill-up). First incident (two weeks prior to second incident): filled up tank in porter ranch, ca, headed to van nuys, ca... Drove on freeway ok, exited freeway at roscoe blvd and turned left. Car stalled in the middle of left hand turn. Extremely dangerous and life threatening if car stalls in the middle of a left hand turn as oncoming traffic approaches.
I filled up the gas tank of my 2006 srt8 dodge magnum.i then pulled out of the gas station parking lot and the car died.the car died many more times the rest of this day.there were no warning lights on the dash.it acted as if there was vapor lock.it appears to be the same issue with gas getting into the evap canister, that so many other people are having with their lx chrysler products of this year.after i burned off about four gallons of gas, this symptom stopped happening.this has happened a couple times this year when i filled the gas tank and the temperature is cooler.i do not top off.this is a hazardous situation.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While driving various speeds, fuel leaked onto the muffler. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact repaired the fuel line, but the failure continued. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 152,000.
While driving vehicle car will stall and only give about 5percent power.it can happen anytime has happened multiple times.dealer had vehicle for a month and cannot determine the issues. I was almost hit by moving vehicles multiple times.
Engine stalls while stopped also while driving. Which can cause serious accident.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while merging into traffic at 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. Additionally, the vehicle would sporadically stall when the fuel tank was filled to capacity.the vehicle was taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed, which located the failure at the computer central system. The computer was replaced however the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer advised the contact that nhtsa action number pe13016 (fuel system, gasoline) was not honored under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 102,000.
The car runs erratically or stalls after filling the gas tank all the way up.this only lasts for a few miles and then the car runs fine.i was told that this was a known issue and there was a tsb issued, but no recall.if i stop filling a few gallons before the tank is full, there are no problems. I was recently told that chrysler was extending the warranties on these tanks (pe13016), but was told by my dealer that the extended warranty does not apply to my car, but couldn't tell me why.
Dodge mag timing belt recalled. Car heated up after driving it for two months and the timing belt snapped and left me and my child on the side of the road , nothing indicated that it was heating up until the car shut down by itself when i was driving.
This has happened two times since owning the car only 2 weeks.both times when we filled up at a gas station, the car would stall several times immediately after leaving the gas station and getting up to speed or at speed.the car would stop in the middle of traffic, and would always restart when put in park, but this causes a safety situation if we are turning, entering a freeway, etc.
After fueling the vehicle and traveling approximately 15 mph, the vehicle started to hesitate and shut off. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. After driving approximately one block, the failure recurred. An independent mechanic was able to restart the vehicle and it was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 58254079. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.
Normal fill up at costco 91 octane - started to drive away the magnum srt8 stalled and the vehicle behind me leaving the parking lot hit me.could not get it to run correctly for about 30 minutes. My wife and baby in the car very worried.
I was driving when the vehicle failed to accelerate over 55 mph (sometimes it would not go over 35 mph).the failure resolved temporarily when the vehicle was restarted.when this does occur the electronic throttle position and traction control light both come on and the car revs up loudly until it is shut off.it is dangerous when you are going 65-70 mph on the highway and the car drops down to 35 mph.now that the weather is colder it happens more often including as soon as you start the car.there also is a lot of shaking while on the highway or while braking.i took the car to a dodge dealer and they said the suspension is extremely loose, which again is dangerous because the wheel could just fall off.i also have the problem that i cannot get the gear out of park at any point.i did find the recall and called chrysler, but they say my vin is not part of the recall (why not?it is the same problem).they notated it, but have not done anything to help me.i have to keep my car in neutral and put the emergency brake on anytime i park.there have been several occasions i cannot park in spots because even with the brake on the car still rolls.i have read several other complaints on here and see these are all common problems and may all have recalls and i feel my car should be included in those.
Car dies after fill up always.
Filled tank with fuel car stalled after stating and sitting at light . This is not the first time it has happened the last three times i have filled up.
When i fill my car with gas my engine will repeatedly stall anywhere from a minute or less to as long as 5 to 15 minutes upon leaving the station. Its very much like the pe13-016 investigation. In fact i've brought my car to the dealer and they have confirmed that my the gas tank is faulty. I did my research and uncovered your investigation and thought everything would be ok but it wasn't. Even though my car is a 2006 dodge magnum 5.7l v8 with a 19 gallon fuel tank both the dealer (larry miller dodge boise) and the chrysler customer assistance center are adamant that my gas tank does not have the extended lifetime warranty described in pe13-016. They insist my car does not have the faulty tank that was the subject of your investigation.i don't claim to understand how stalling in traffic is not considered a safety issue and worthy of a recall but all other things equal, how come my car does not qualify for the extended lifetime warranty when even my dealer is saying my car has the exact same symptoms, its the right model year and the right configuration.this is not a trivial thing. Would you want to see your spouse and children randomly stalled out in traffic. And like me, i have found several other reports from fellow chrysler lx series owners (magnum, charger & 300c) reporting that no, the car will not always start right back up. Very often we have to wrestle with it and suffer through multiple stalls and difficult starts before the problem clears itself. Please help.

Takata recall
Car stalls randomly when fuel tank is full or after fill up. May stall without warning when in motion or stationary. This is a known issue with this model and similar models. Cause is a faulty fuel tank.
After fill up, my magnum begins to jerk and stalled in the intersection. The car was unable to start for 3 min.. After starting and stopping for 15 minit began to operate normal.i notice this only happens during fill ups.
On several occasions, i have filled the fuel tank and when attempting to leave, the engine has stalled, sometimes in the parking lot of the gas station, other times attempting to stall but not cutting off, while driving on the road. I have been able to start the car when it has cut off in the parking lot, and if it stalled while driving, i have been able to keep it running by "feathering" the accelerator until it starts to run normally. I have read similar complaints about other owners with similar vehicles to mine, each having the 6.1l hemi engine or the 5.7 hemi. It appears that i may have the same problem, where the fuel shut-off float fails to perform properly. I read that the nhtsa pe13016 was issued that relates to this problem. I cannot provide a specific date since i no longer fill the tank. (note that i haven't had the problem unless i have filled the tank. Months ago, i was able to fill the tank without experiencing the problem, but that was a while back. (i estimated the latest date in order to complete this form.)
I had just filled the tank of my 2006 dodge magnum and drove about 20 miles into town. After making a quick stop at a local store i once again got into the car and began driving approx. 30 mph. As i began to make a left hand turn all power was lost to the car; steering became nearly impossible, gas pedal did not work and i basically was dead in the road. I turned the key to off, placed the car in park and then restarted the engine. It started right up, began to drive and at the next light needed to take another left; with cars coming at me from the other direction i went to take the left when once again the entire car lost power..no steering, no gas power, check oil light came on. I was lucky that the oncoming cars did not hit me and that i had allowed enough space incase the same thing occurred or there would have been a collision for sure. This has happened a few other times without any reason but we are always able to start it back up and then it may or may not happen again. Been told it is the "roll over valve" failing $2 grand to fix!!!!!
Here we are 15 months later and only 2,330 miles from my last complaint about my 2006 dodge magnum stalling after a fuel fill up or when turning left, it happened yet again today, i know there is a current fuel tank recall for 2005 - 2006 dodge charger, magnum & chrysler 300's with the v8 5.7l & 6.1l, yet nothing for the v6 2.7l & 3.5l, why? they all use the same exact gas tank, which have been proven to be defective, i;m the original owner of this car and it still only have 76,233 miles, so it should be covered but is not, please expand this recall x53 to cover all magnums and chargers and chrysler 300s....we v6 owners should also have a voice in our own safety and recalls when our cars all use the same gas tanks
After fill up and not topping off tank car will sputter or even die and have to be restarted several times for the first 10 or so mile.my car has died several times in busy traffic almost causing a rear end collision from cars behind me.
After filling up the gas tank my car died about a half dozen times.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. After refueling the vehicle, it stalled without warning while driving. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled recurringly. The low engine oil warning light would illuminate when the failure occurred however, there was adequate oil in the vehicle. A local mechanic performed a diagnostic but was unable to generate a failure code. The mechanic advised the contact that the failure could have been caused by a fuel system failure. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 96,000 and the current mileage was 115,000.
Qhen i fill up my gas tank the car starts to shut off every time i fill it up i have to put like 1/2 a tank so it doesn't shut off on me when im driving
Car stalling while stopped or at low cruising speeds. Then the car is hard to restart. After restarting the car will not go into gear for a while.
After filling the fuel tank car has been stalling, shutting off on me. Been reading about this issue and seems to be the fuel tank called the dealer that wasn't much help. Just bought the car about a month ago happens every time i fill up.
My dodge magnum stalls after filling up the fuel tank. It happens shortly after filling up and will continue until the car has been driven about 30 miles. It will stall regardless of what speed i am driving. It will restart after a couple tries.
For the last 60 to 90 days , my car has being turning off several times . I took it for maintenance and everything was updated, brakes , oil change . I was advised it was my fuel tank . This needs to be fixed asap , i drive my children with me all the time .
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact noticed a fuel odor coming from the vehicle while the vehicle was stationary with the engine running. The contact also noticed the odor while exiting the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
I purchased a 2006 dodge magnum last week on 4/4/2019 odometer reading at 109, 545. 2 days after i purchased the car it needed fuel and i filled the gas tank. I then left the gas station. Within less than a mile the engine stalled as if it were trying to shut off. This happened 4 times within 1 minute and less than a mile from the gas station. Since i was merging onto a highway,i could not just pull over. I continued off the merge and into the highway. Then it stopped. With hesitation i continued down the highway. About 20 miles down the highway later and driving at the speed limit of 70 mph, i accelerated on the gas pedal to go up a small hill and maintain the speed limit of 70 mph. The car again tries to stall out and shut off and it continued to do this 3 more times. I had to drive yet another 50 miles to make it home and i was very uneasy the whole time. I did make it home without any additional insidents. The incident was very unsettling. I dread what happens the next time i put gas in it as this seemed to be the trigger of the incident. I went home to research the issue and sure enough this a common complaint among dodge magnum owners. Apparently there had been a recall for an issue with the gas tank. My vin does not show up or qualify for the recall but is indeed having this shared problem. I feel it is a major safety issue for anyone on the highway. Causing serious injury and or death to myself, my passengers and any other drivers on the road. This issue needs to be resolved and addressed! especially after finding there are so many other 2006 dodge magnum owners having the same problem! to replace the gas tank by a certified dodge mechanic it will cost about $2,000 in parts and labor. How do i get help with this recall issue even though the vin on my car is not showing it is eligible or included in the recall??
Takata recallvehicle stalls anytime . Loose power steering. Unable to steer it. Very dangerous.dealer says there is a free replacement for fuel tank because of a defective vent.i never got a recall notice, apparently is just 2006 dodge/chrysler issue. And spend thousands on new computer and other service to find out the cause. Found the defective vent issue on line - confirmed with dealer i purchased it at that tank issue is covered. If there had been a recall for this dangerous issue, i would have had it fixed years ago. Vehicle is located in duluth, mn/superior, wi areanow
My car falls under the gas tank replacement program but the dealers keep putting off the replacement stating no parts availability. I was recently nearlyhit while making a legal u turn when the car stalled twice leaving me sideways across 2 lanes of oncoming traffic. I do not want to sell my car but the situation is scary enough for me to park the car. But waiting a year for the part is ridiculous.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds, fuel fumes emitted inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.
Car stalls unexpectedly immediately after a fuel fill up. Problem clears up within 10 minutes of continuous driving.
On multiple ocassions, during the re-fueling operation up to full level, the vehicle will stall out.no trouble codes are stored. After restart, and while driving away the vehicle may unexpectedly stall-out on one or more ocassions while stopped in gear, or at slow speed or while accelerating from a stop after the refueling has taken place.when the car stalls out while driving, the vehicles behind you do not know that there is a problem with the vehicle and near accidents have occurred.additionally, if accelerating from a stop, cross traffic also does not know that there was a problem with your car, and near accidents have again almost occurred becuase you have not cleared out of the intersection at the rate/timing that the other driver would have reasonably expected.these unexpected stalls may occur until such time that the car has burned off some fuel by either time or by higher speeds, but even at higher speeds you can still have some hesitation and "surging".situation occurs after re-fueling up to full level only, and without regard to fuel octane level, whether cold or hot outside temperature or engine condition.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while stopping at a stop sign the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred various times after refueling the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the fuel tank would have to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.updated 11/05/13*lj updated 11/8/2013
My car stalls with a full tank of gas. The stall occurs after slowing down and coming to a stop. After placing the car in park and trying several times to start the car, the engine finally starts. I put it into drive, but it doesn't engage immediately. I then have to repeat by turning the car off and going thru the start and engage several times.this has happened several times while driving on the road with cars behind me. I get real panicky and don't feel at all safe with this situation.i noticed the connection between the full tank and the stalling after quite some time as the owner of the vehicle.i did some online research to find that many other owners have the same problem with the 300, charger and magnum.i've also read articles online stating that you investigated the issue and found chrysler at fault.with this finding, i would like chrysler to fix the problem.at this time i have not contacted chrysler as i'd like to find out if they will indeed fix the problem with a replacement. After all, this is what they said they would do.i also read they were mailing owners, but since owning the car since 2013, i have not received any contact from them concerning the fuel tank issue.what path do you suggest i take to remedy the situation of a fuel tank replacement by chrysler?regards.
I stopped to get fuel and started off on my trip i went to get on the freeway and the car stalled when trying to merge into traffic. Had to dodge a few cars and coasted to the side of the road. I tried to restart the car a few times and it finally restarted. I continued on my trip without any problems until i stopped and filled the gas tank back up. This time i was in heavy traffic and had no place to go, pissed off a few people for blocking traffic but finally got the car restarted.
After filling up gas car stalls out while driving, will start back up but shuts down again.going up hill car stalls and shuts off i have to hit the gas pedal to keep it running.
Every time i fill gas the engine stalls repeatedly for about a minute or longer.becomes dangerous when trying to accelerate out of an intersection and it stalls.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that when the fuel tank was filled, the vehicle would stall. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed which was unable to locate a failure code however, the dealer replaced the throttle body but the failure was not corrected. The engine continued to stall when the fuel tank was filled. There were no recalls for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000 and the current mileage was 118,000.
For four years my vehicle stalls each time i put gasoline in the tank.on several occasions i have stalled in an intersection as well as busy roads.
After filling the car unpredictably stalls until about 1/2 gallon us used from the tank. Dealer quoted $1500 when incident first occured.
Engine light on will not turn off. Comes back on after , dealer turned it off.
I had just filled up my gas tank and upon leaving the gas station and reaching the first stop light (~100 yards from the gas station) my car stalled. I was able to restart the car following a couple of tries. This was the only time this has happened to me in this car.
I have been experiencing a safety hazard with my 2006 dodge magnum rt for several months. When the vehicle is filled up with gas it will stall out when driving down the road. This happens regardless of what speed you are going and occurs every time the car is filled up. I have done extensive research and found that i am not alone with this issue and that the warranty was extended for certain vin codes through chrysler. Unfortunately my vin was not a part of that warranty extension even though i am experiencing the exact issue that this covers. There have been several times where the car has stalled while driving in traffic which could have resulted in a major accident, luckily i was able to avoid any collisions. Maybe next time i won't be so lucky though...
After filling up the car with fuel it would stall when drivingit. On 11/23/12 i took the car to my local dealer, santa maria chrysler-jeep-dodge. They informed me the fuel tank would need to be replacedbecause the vent valve on fuel tank was faulty. I paid for the repairsat cost of $1607.25 on 11/28/12. I recently became aware of a recall for this problem but they say my vin# does not qualify. The problem was a scary situation. I could have been seriously hurt if the car stalled in traffic. Apparently i am not the only one who experienced this problem.
Engine stalled while driving minutes after filling the fuel tank.a known problem with these cars. Had to pull over and run the vehicle for 15 minutes before the engine could run steadily without stalling .
I purchased a 2005 dodge magnum rt in march of 05. The dash/instrument lights dimmed normally to a level safe for night time driving. Then i purchased a 2006 magnum in oct. 05. The dash lights do not dim to the same level as the 05 car. In fact, they don't dim anywhere close. They are so bright on the lowest setting that i have to put a towel over the instrument cluster at night which then makes the speedometer (a required piece of equipment) useless. The dodge company and the dealer have refused to acknowledge a problem and or fix it. Dodge needs to have a recall to fix this safety problem. If you take a cell phone at night and turn it on so the panel is illuminated, hold it about 2 feet from your face, that is how bright at the lowest setting the instrument lights are on this car. I have looked at other magnums and they are the same.
My car was working fine until the next day i went out the to the car cranked it up tried to put it in drive, it will not go out of park.
I own a 2006 dodge magnum str8, that will not some out of park, with 66,000 miles on it. I have read over many many reports of this exact issue with dodge magnums and chargers and now it has happened to me. Why is there still not a recall on this issue? i am shocked that the nhtsa has not received far more complaints regarding this issue.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While operating the vehicle, the gear shifter would sometimes become stuck and the vehicle would not accelerate properly. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would not immediately stop and the stopping distance was increased. The vehicle was repaired, but no further information was available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While parked, the contact attempted to move the gear shifter from park to drive and noticed it was stuck in park. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics and the vehicle was not repaired. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v583000 (power train:automatic transmission:lever and linkage:column shift) that ould have been related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vin was not included in the recall.the approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
This car went in for a cooling fan recall in late july.at the same time, the 60,000 mile transmission service was completed.i began having trouble with how it shifted almost immediately on an irregular basis.we left on vacation a week later and just returned sept. 8th.i noticed the transmission was worse, so i called the garage to take it in. I was just told that the torque converter is bad, probably because of a water leak in the dipstick. The service guy told me that chrysler has had this same problem on many cars.my suspicion: why did it go out immediately after being serviced at ross chrysler in boone, nc.if there are multiple water leaks, chrysler should be sharing with the cost ($1600) to replace the converter.am i being taken advantage of because i am a senior citizen.add water to the transmission while being worked on, and it ruins the converter.
I'm a 78 year old senior citizen, and i'm the only owner my 2006 dodge magnum. It currently has less than 15,000 miles on the vehicle. I was on my way home from a friends funeral and i was just a few miles away from the house when the car started skipping and jerking. By the time i got home the vehicle could not pull up my driveway.i see that my vehicle has had 2 recalls for the powertrain and 10 service bulletins. I've been informed that the transmission will need to be rebuilt since it is no longer manufactured. Can the manufactur offer any goodwill assistance.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. When attempting to move the vehicle, the contact was unable to move the gear shifter. The vehicle was towed to sam's transmission center where it was diagnosed that the spring retainer brackets failed and the floor shifter assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Engine stalls while driving, also stalls while car is not moving, whether in park, reverse, or drive the car shuts down and sometimes starts up immediately and sometimes it doesn't, if car is moving at speeds above 30 and the stall happens it will kick right back up on it's own.
My 2006 dodge magnum has been a great car.until yesterday.i had driven the vehicle earlier in the day without problems.went out to my car after work, started right up as usual - but would not go out of park.after googling the problem, i have found that this is a recurrent problem on both dodge and chrysler vehicles.there is a work around, but am very disappointed that this item is not found on any recall lists.while this is not technically a "safety" issue, it is a very frustrating problem.based on the sheer number of people who seem to have had this problem - a recall should be issued!!!!
Engine stalls while stopped also while driving. Which can cause serious accident.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift from park. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the transmission shifter interlock lever had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the manufacturer's recall. The failure mileage was 158,000.
I had bought the car in january 2015 and had the car serviced at dodge dealer and was told the car (2006 dodge magnum sxt) did not have any issues upon a 23 point inspection on 2/7/2015. The car began to leak fluid, i took the vehicle back to the dealer on 2/14/2015 and the leak could not be identified and was told by the dealer that no leaks were present. On the date in question, i was driving between speeds of 30 and 45 as the car was shaking towards the back wheels. After coming to a stop at a light and commencing to drive again, the drive shaft of the car broke off and i stopped the car immediately. Upon reporting this to the dealer i was informed that this does not happen with the dodge magnum and this is an odd occurrence. The car was misdiagnosed twice but more than that i would like to save someone from getting hurt as this could a very dangerous situation had the car been operating at higher speeds as the drive train separated from the differential with great force.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that the gear shift would not move out of park.the contact called the manufacturer and the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls.the contact did not take the vehicle to a dealer or local mechanic for repairs.the failure mileage was 122,337.
The parking interlock pawl on nearly all of the dodge magnums and chargers, chrysler 300 indicates a verysignificant failure rate. This piece functions to prevent shifting the vehicle from park unless the key is in the ignition and the brake is depressed. Dodge has changed the design and material due to quality and reliability problems from the previously used part which was made out of a very inexpensive plastic. As a preventive measure against failure, many owners have chosen to remove the pawl to prevent being stranded. In removing the pawl, the shifter interlock mechanism becomes ineffective allowing the vehicle to be shifted from park without the key inserted in the ignition and the brake pedal depressed. While the malfunction at hand is not a safety issue directly related to part failure, the resulting outcome from the removal of this part causes a safety issue of great concern. To date dodge has not issued a recall on this part.i ask that nhtsa consider the high probability of accidents, injuries and deaths resulting from this defect of this part and/or its removal and recommend the issuance of a recall for replacement of this part.
The vehicle surges between 1500-3500 rpm's and sometimes at idle.the problem comes and goes and is often accompanied by problems with the transmission shifting.somethimes at a stop the trans will not down shift and when i accelerate again it is stuck in a high gear which has many times caused me to be put in danger while pulling into traffic, the car won't accelerate to speed properly.it is unerving to never know if it will drive properly without shifting or surging problems. It has been doing this for 15,000 miles and i have taken it inot the dealer 6-7 times and they still having fixed anything, because there is no code coming up for them.
Vehicle stalled as i was making a u-turn.vehicle required 3 attempts to restart and after successfully starting the vehicle, transmission would not engage for approximately 5 seconds.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While parked, the contact attempted to place the vehicle in reverse but the gear shifter would not move out of park. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing but was not repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 08v583000 (power train:automatic transmission:lever and linkage:column shift) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.
My car was working fine until the next day i went out the to the car cranked it up tried to put it in drive, it will not go out of park.
Placed shift lever in park.could not get it out of park nor start engine.
To start this complaint i wanted to first say that my vehicle was parked (not in motion) when this safety issue took place. The issue in question is in regards to recall k39. The transmission gear shift lever interlock return spring hook on my vehicle broke. This broken interlock return spring hook resulted in the inability to move the gear shift lever out of the 'park' position. This in turn left me stranded. Subsequently i took the vehicle to be serviced at the dealership and submitted the resulting reimbursement paperwork to chrysler. Sadly, the reimbursement was denied b/c chrysler has not included my vin in the k39 recall...despite its obvious inclusion.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that after starting the engine the vehicle failed to shift out of park. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer but the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 93,959.
Transmission shifter interlock lever return spring hook brokeaugust 16, 2013, i parked my car in the garage at 9pm, no problems at that time. I returned on august 18, 2013 approximately 1:00pm to start my car and i proceeded to take the vehicle out of park and the gear shift wouldn't move.i pressed on the break again and tried again to take the gear shift out of park, it would not move. I couldn't believe this was happening again for i also co-own a dodge charger and the exact same thing happened to that vehicle on july 30th. I called my mechanic and he walked me through the steps to get the vehicle out of park (remove the plate around the gear shift, take a long screw driver and move the wire extending to the gear shift to the left, which would release the gear out of park) and it worked. I was out-of-town and completely stressed that this was happening to my 2nd dodge vehicle. Both vehicles were purchased within a couple of weeks of each other and from the same dealer. (michael jordan nissan).a recall has been issued for this part but neither of my vehicles are covered. I really need this to be investigated, for i need both of my vehicles to work properly.what are the odds of owning 2 vehicles from dodge, having the same problem to occur with both vehicles within weeks a part.
I have 3.5l sxt model vehicle.my vehicle has dangerous acceleration problems when the vehicle is in proper running temperature.when you pull out onto a street you expect that the vehicle will accelerate to the flow of traffic. There have been many times that i press the gas pedal to the floor and it is like dragging an anchor behind me.i have been doing lots of reading about this issue and i am not the only person with this problem.it appears that this could be a simple fix from chrysler by a corrected program issue for the transmission.i would love to see a tsb be issued for this as it is going to cause a bad crash due to the vehicle not responding as it should.this problem, from what i can tell, is only with one specific transmission used in this model vehicle.like i said above, this is an easy fix for chrysler by reprogramming the transmission operation but they are not wanting to help fix the problem.please help and i would like to hear back from someone about this issue.thanks.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact was driving when the vehicle failed to accelerate over 55 mph. The failure resolved temporarily when the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for diagnostic testing. The diagnosis was a possible failure shortage or circuit within thetrans axle control module. The manufacturer stated the vin does not apply to nhtsa recall campaign id :05v460000(power train:automatic transmission).the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 91,900 and the current mileage was 92,156
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that the gear shifter would not shift out of park. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was repaired and diagnosed as a drive shaft malfunction. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
After filling up gas car stalls out while driving, will start back up but shuts down again.going up hill car stalls and shuts off i have to hit the gas pedal to keep it running.
Normal fill up at costco 91 octane - started to drive away the magnum srt8 stalled and the vehicle behind me leaving the parking lot hit me.could not get it to run correctly for about 30 minutes. My wife and baby in the car very worried.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that he was unable to shift the vehicle out of park. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed that the interlock spring hook in the shifter assembly was fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 71,416.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum.the contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, a unknown warning indicator illuminated as the transmission began to jerk continuously. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. After restarting, the vehicle resumed normally for fifteen minutes then the failure recurred. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on three separate occasions. The throttle body was replaced twice and engine coil once. The mechanic also informed that the ecm functioned properly. The failure persisted after the repairs were performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that after shifting to park, she was unable to move the shifter out of the park position. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where they advised her that the colum shift was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 54,000.
Dodge mag timing belt recalled. Car heated up after driving it for two months and the timing belt snapped and left me and my child on the side of the road , nothing indicated that it was heating up until the car shut down by itself when i was driving.
I have a 2006 dodge magnum i had the car for about 5 years at about 95,000 miles when i got off from work i've gotten into my car and started it up and just when i apply my brakes to put the car in drive it would not move into drive reverse are neutral at all and i heard this happening to other vehicles such as chargers etc. When i called the dealer about it they told me that it could be the shifter assembly and its a very common thing that happens to a lot of these particular cars and to me that's not a good sign and it should be taking into consideration because that's a defect that needs to be on recall you can be in a middle of nowhere and i try to take off and i can't put my car into park while at a drive threw somewhere and i can't move my car into drive and now am stranded my car is at the shop right now getting prepared to be fix and there charging me 360 dollars plus tax just to fix what they know is common on those cars and it really needs to be looking into because no car should do that i was better off buying me a toyota are something that's not going to brake so easily like that and i shouldn't have to pay for something that dodge dealers know about these cars commonly braking like that and i will be getting that shifter assembly part that broke as well.
The vehicle will notreach rpm over 3000rpm this is associated with the transmission . When this occurs(intermittently) the transmission forward gear selection does not work norappear on thedash board selectoronly the d is lit it will not shift to lower gears as it would do normally ie.4, 3, 2,1. If the car is brought to a stop and shut offit will when started again it will behave normally. Since this occurs intermittently and without warning it presents a serious hazard as acceleration fails when entering traffic?
Vehicle will not shift out of park.
Car has no park rolls back when in park no check light have to put ebreak on for car to stay still drives fine other than that
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated the vehicle would not shift out of park. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed the gear shift was locked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The failure mileage was 56,450.
We own a 2006 dodge magnum, and the car shifter is stuck on park. The car also seems to vibrate while going over 50 mph. Don't think the "thump" noise is normal when there is a shift in gear in an automatic transmission.
Since the purchase of this vehicle in may 2007, it has repeatedly suffered from transmission shutter; a loud thumping shake of the car when shifting between 2nd and 3rd gears (automatic transmission) at medium-low speeds.i have taken to the dealer repeatedly but they are unable to confirm the problem.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum.while driving 40 mph, the vehicle jerked and failed to switch gears.the dealer repaired the transmission, but it did not remedy the failure.the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that the vehicle needed to be driven 100 miles.after the vehicle had been driven for 1,000 miles, the failure still persisted.the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they advised her to change the tires.the current mileage was 65,000 and failure mileage was 20,000.
The vehicle rolled away while in park.
The vehicle was unable to shift from park into any other gear.the dealer advised me to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing.the manufacturer was aware of the failure.the current and failure mileage was 102,000.bw
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated thatthe vehicle would not shift from park. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for repairs or diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was contacted and they confirmed that the vin dwas not included in nhtsa campaign id number:05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 100,000.
We own a 2006 dodge magnum; it will not shift out of park (70,000+ miles). It just happened to my husband. After checking the site, i can see several complaints about the same part; there must be a problem with the car. I also know two separate people with dodge avenger and charger; with the same problem. Now the car has be towed to the dealership to replace $100 part for $400.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the gear automatically shifted into neutral without warning. The contact drove to the side of the road and was able to shift the gear back into the drive position. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and authorized dealer, where they stated that the gear shifter was defective. There was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v583000 (power train: automatic transmission: lever and linkage: column shift). The vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
The transmission on the dodge magnum has many issues. The check engine light come on and off signaling that your transmission is not shifting properly. A person can feel a "thump" and the car will momentarily stall. Have taken to the dealership continuously for repair. The check engine light will still come on and off randomly. The dealership say they can not repeat the incident. A blog on edmunds.com on "dodge magnum transmission problems" has several entries complaining about the same incident and dealerships saying the same issues but no real answers. My problems occurred about with 40k on the odometer. Others reported earlier incidents.
When attempting to shift to drive from park, the gear shift selector would not respond.i was able to shift into all other gears other than drive.the current and failure mileage is 100,000.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that while attempting to shift the gear from park to neutral with the vehicle parked, the gear would not respond. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technician replaced the shifter.after the repair was made, the contact did not experience the failure again. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v583000 (power train:automatic transmission:lever and linkage:column shift) but the contacts vin was not included. The manufacturer also stated that the warranty would not cover the repairs. The vehicle was repaired at the contacts expense. The approximate failure mileage was 59,463.
We own a 2006 dodge magnum. The vehicle has been maintained with the appropriate maintenance by the dodge service center. On 07-02-09 the vehicle was driving from home at 10:00am, at 10:30 once trying to depart the shopping center location the vehicles gear shifter would not remove from the parked position, and had to be towed. It was discovered that all the 2006-2007 dodge magnums, chargers, and chrysler 300's gear shifters have been getting stuck in park. The reason giving is that there's a defective plastic wheel that breaks. This shouldn't be taking place, it's not known whether other's have broken in another gear while driving or not, and could be detrimental if it does especially while the vehicle is in motion and causes the driver to have an accident and instantly go in a direction or just stall in traffic. This needs to be addressed and placed on the recall list, just as the cable shifter has been recalled on the dodge magnums. Please look into this matter with reimbursement to all that have had this problem repaired.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that the vehicle remained stuck in park. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vin did not qualify for repairs under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v583000(power train:automatic transmission:lever and linkage:column shift). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 93,000.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum.the contact stated that the gear shifter could not be shifted from park.the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but the vin did not qualify for repairs under nhtsa campaign id number: 05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission). In addition, while attempting to close the trunk, the trunk would slam shut abruptly and abnormally. The contact was concerned that the trunk lid would slam on a person's head, causing injury.the vehicle was in the process of being repaired by the dealer.the failure and the current mileage was 26,000. The vin was unavailable.updated 02/15/12*lj
I have not owned my dodge for more than a yeah and i am encountering transmission slipping and varying electrical problem with my vehicle.
Parking brake assembly would not latch when depressed, causing it to slip back and not engage.car would move even on a slight incline. Repair cost was $922.97
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 06v149000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and 15v313000 (air bags); however, the parts needed to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While driving approximately 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to completely stop the vehicle. In addition, the abs and esp warning lights illuminated continuously. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that the service brakes light illuminated on the instrument panel. Immediately following the warning indicator, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealerand manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. While driving approximately 25 mph and attempting to brake, the brake pedal depressed all the way to the floor and failed to stop the vehicle. The contact placed the vehicle into park and it came to a stop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on one other occasion while driving approximately 25 mph and the steering wheel dropped down and seized. The contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a lot and not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 154,000.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact heard a loud squeaking noise from the brake system and when attempting to decelerate when the vehicle make a loud grinding noise and shake excessively. The failure was similar to recall 06v149000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The brake system did not help to idle the vehicle. A private mechanic replaced the front and rear brake pads and he noticed that there was a brake hose leak and performed the repairs; however, the failure continued. The current mileage was 97,000 and the failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated the rotors began to shake while the vehicle was driving 60 mph. The vehicle began to shake and became very difficult to drive when the brakes were applied. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic to have the rotors change twice in the last two years.the contact has called the manufacturer regarding the failure.the contact stated the faulty rotors could potentially cause a crash to occur. The failure mileage was 120,000.

(4 repair attempts, not yet fixed)2. Brake rotors (all 4) worn out at 17,000 miles (dealer will replace for free after a fight with the dealership)3. I have never received any recall for chrysler for the dodge magnum 2006 since i had it for 6 yrs+exited thefreeway, and made turn to head towards my designated location.as soon as i cross over the first light ( going the speed limit) my vehicle lost control and accelerated more speed without me able to control the steering wheel causing the car to jerk all over the street. (unable to control steering and brake).lost control went off the road instantly hit a tree and spun several times until i hit another tree, and that is what made the vehicle crash and come to a stop.

The front end had to be welded back together and the it is pretty messed up. And front wheels bar might come a loose when turning is made hard. You can see where it was fix at on the bottom in the front the frame was wreck pretty hard.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum.while driving between 40-50 mph, the vehicle vibrates violently.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer six times.they were able to duplicate the failure, but were unsure of what caused the vibration.the dealer rotated the tires, but this did not correct the failure.he purchased an extended warranty just in case.the failure mileage was 3,000 and current mileage was 11,000.
I have had to repair a leak in the power steering hose twice with the last year.the manufacturer is aware of the failure;however, did not offer any assistance.
My 2006 dodge magnum needed new tierod ends and new suspension tension arms at under 45,000 miles. Chrysler canada and the dealers acknowledge that this is the number one repair for the magnum, but refuse to correct or recall the vehicles.

After filling up with gas, upon driving the car will die. At approximately 5mph the car will suddenly die and will not respond. Car will not start until after a few minutes of sitting. No cel lights or codes thrown.
- the contact stated that while driving his 2006 dodge magnum if the vehicle goes over 30 mph the vehicle pulls to the right excessively. The contact has taken the vehicle to the dealership(lums auto center) ten times and they have attempted to re-align the vehicles front end, as well as, changing the vehicles tires. The contact stated that the service manager contacted the manufactured on 01/03/07 told the manufacturer that were not able to repair the vehicle and they needed guidance.the manufacturer stated that they will get back to dealership once they researched the issue ( case reference number 15849994).the contact can provide copies of all his invoice repaired if needed.
While driving vehicle car will stall and only give about 5percent power.it can happen anytime has happened multiple times.dealer had vehicle for a month and cannot determine the issues. I was almost hit by moving vehicles multiple times.
For the last 60 to 90 days , my car has being turning off several times . I took it for maintenance and everything was updated, brakes , oil change . I was advised it was my fuel tank . This needs to be fixed asap , i drive my children with me all the time .
My husband was havingthenew 2006 dodge magnumfor maintenance and the mechanic told him that his passenger's side tie rod was loose and needed to be replaced.now, thiswas very strange, especially since its was a 2006. Model.when we inquired at the dodge dealer about this mishap they said that there was no recall on this particular problem yet, but they had complaints, people were bringing their cars in for this same problem.the unfortunate thing was that people were going elsewhere to have it fixed because itwastoo costly to have it done at the dealer.the dealer wantedto charge for the whole rack and pinion instead of just the tie rod that wa sloose.it just so happened that my husband's friend had the same vehicle and he too just paid an arm and leg to hav the tie rod fixed, and his toowa s a 2006.now,i did notknow how many more people out there have been having the same problem, but it was too coincidental. When i went out researching to see how much this was going to cost, every mechanic i spoke with asked the same thing, and it wasonly a 2006?" i am still shopping around to see who will fix this problem for me, but i thought it was important for you to know. Hopefully others will complainas i did, and we could have this problem reimbursed or fixed.thank you for your time.
While i was attempting to remove contents from the trunk of my vehicle, the trunk released itself without pressure or force and hit me in the head.i was taken to the hospital and treated for contusions to the head.i sustained bleeding and bruising to the head. The current and failure mileages were 105,000.
The car was wrecked really bad. Front end a back was damaged mainly the frame of the car front end also the trunk was pushed in and the rightside rear light is damaged alittle inside was messed up power seats don't work properly. Also at times it don't move at all it was sold to me like this at a really unfair price of 17,999. They need to be locked in jail for such a scam and ripped me off. Also these people are stone hearted crooks. Please help this is not right and this has to be against the law.
1. Dangerous! entire car shakes when traveling at 40-80+ mph. The shake shows up in the steering wheel which makes the car unsafe to handle at speeds of 65mph.it is similar to the shake when you brake and the rotors are warped only this shake is not present when braking, only under acceleration and usually only when you go over 40mph.it gets so bad that people in the car always ask what is wrong with my car, especially since i have only had it 11 months.the problem is getting progressively worse.the tie rods were replaced as an attempt to fix the problem.didn't work.the wheels were balanced on 3 separate occasions and that didn't work either.the rims from another srt8 magnum were put on my car to see if the rims were the problem and the car still shook. (4 repair attempts, not yet fixed)2. Brake rotors (all 4) worn out at 17,000 miles (dealer will replace for free after a fight with the dealership)3. Brake pads (all 4) worn out at 17,000 miles (dealer will not replace for free, want $600 for pads, not fair since the defective rotors might have played a part in wearing out my brake pads too)4. Car nearly stalls out when shifting between first and second gear on wide open throttle. (can be dangerous if you expect the car to go and it stutters.almost appears as if it is going to stall, like it's starved for gas).
The front end had to be welded back together and the it is pretty messed up. And front wheels bar might come a loose when turning is made hard. You can see where it was fix at on the bottom in the front the frame was wreck pretty hard.

Without warning valve ring seat broke off fell into cylinder punching hole in piston. Bought a rebuilt motor for $7,000and 70k miles later the same thing happens. Both instances the motor was running.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that after driving over a bump in the road, the lower control arm fractured. The contact also mentioned that the failure was experienced multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was confirmed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage and vin was not available.
2006 dodge magnum needs front strut/suspension repairs at 60k. Dlr stated this is common problem. At first damage was estimated at 20% damage (only needed new tie rod ends), but now both front strut tension links need replacement plus alignment (over $1000 in repairs). This is a known weak spot in model design (see other complaints). A recall should be issued, consumers are paying for this known design flaw/defect out of pocket.
Tie rod ends replaced at 45,000 miles.dealer claims this is normal.
My 2006 dodge magnum needed new tierod ends and new suspension tension arms at under 45,000 miles. Chrysler canada and the dealers acknowledge that this is the number one repair for the magnum, but refuse to correct or recall the vehicles.
My car will turn off when im at a light or if im driving down the road and will just shut off dont know the issue but its dangerous to drive on the road.
Gear shift stuck in park
My son's work is within five miles at 35 miles per hour the car died. Had to put in park restart. My husband noticed and vacuum hose loose so he fixed it. Next time on my sons way to work the car was at a red light and died. 2 days later i was driving stopped at a red light and the car stalled. Every red light stop, back home. I put car in neutral when stopped, car didn't die out. Green light back to drive no problem. Made it home! i waited like at stop light car die. Put in park shut it down. Taking to shop this week.
My shifter will not go out of park. Im stranded. Transmission shifter interlock lever. Ive been on line most of the day and beyond complaints on this one. I am a 55 year old woman and can not rig it to drive like all the men in videos. It is a pink plastic part that was originally put in the car and now everyone is have to buy new ones that are metal. There needs to be a recall asap.
When i fill my gas tank with fuel the motor stalls and goes dead continuously for about 15 miles then it gets better but it will die sometimes as many as 5 or 6 times.
Takata recall
Whenever i fill my gas tank, the vehicle will stall within one or two blocks from gas pumps. It can happen at 20 miles an hour or less. It can happen entering a highway at 50 miles per hour. The car will start right up and will normally run fine after stalling. On one or two occasions it stalled twice after a fill up. Lately it happens after each fill up regardless of gas station or brand of gas.
It's started making a loud clicking noise so i took it to the dealership and they said it was a sensor in the dash behind the steering column that keeps the exhaust from coming back inside the car. What should i do?
After filling the gas tank, the car stalled at the next 3 intersections and ran rough once on moderate acceleration.no engine codes or warning lights appeared.engine was able to be restarted nut only when depressing the accelerator pedal slightly.would not re-start otherwise. Problem resolved itself after about 15 minutes of operation. Since then, issue has re-surfaced approximately 6 times with similar symptoms; occasionally with engine stalling while the car is slowing down but still moving.all time are associated with the first few minutes of operation after filling the gas tank.

I just purchased this vehicle in may 2014. At time of purchase all 4 wheels were showing obvious signs of significant corrosion around the center cap, lug nut area and along the bead of the rim. All tires maintain proper inflation. I just recently attended an all chrysler car show and while admiring other magnums on display i noticed several of them had the same corrosion in the same locations as mine. I am not a metallurgist and do not know if this condition will, or has, affected the integrity of the alloy material used in the manufacturing of these rims but it seems to me, if this problem is left unaddressed it has the potential to create a serious safety risk.
The contact owns a 2006 dodge magnum. The contact stated that she had to exert great force to remove the lug nuts. She was unable to change the tires. Upon further inspection she noticed that the lug nuts expand, which prevented the apparatus from clamping on to remove them. The manufacturer was notified, and she is waiting for a response. The failure and current mileages were 23,000.
