Driver side head rest violently burst apart during normal operation going down the highway.no impact to car one way or the other to cause damage. The impact hit the back of my wife's head causing disorientation and the frighten awareness she had been struck.at the time, she was not aware of what hit her until she noticed the head rest had come apart.the head rest is now showing the components of the mechanism and driving is now difficult.there is noticeable plastic components that appear to be shattered or damaged inside the headrest.

1. Driver side headrest popped (airbag) while parked. The brake light in the dash was illuminated2. On the instrument panel the "brake" light illuminates intermittenly

Air bag light keeps turning on while vehicle is in motion.

Our air bag light has been on for the last 4 months. When we took it to the service department they stated nothing was wrong with the air bags.when the light came back on we took it again to the service department where they said there was a problem with our harness.we have also taken our car in for the ac not working and they have changed the module 3 times already and the problem is still there.

Takata recall. Brakes locked up trying to avoid a car coming towards me, lost control andairbags deployed in an accident and smoked and burnt my arm and leg

The vehicle was remote started, and then few minutes later the driver opened the drivers side.the driver sat down, fastened her shoulder harness and then closed the drivers side door.upon the door closing and latching, the drivers side curtain airbag self-deployed.this caused some left arm bruising, neck burns and a deep abrasion across the drivers left side neck.there was no impact from any another vehicle, nor did the dodge journey strike a fixed object.the vehicle was at a standstill with the parking brake engaged, vehicle in park, and the engine start button flashing because the driver had remotely started the vehicle.

My car was parked and i was sitting inside when the passenger headrest airbag deployed.thankfully my passenger wasn't sitting there at the time.

Drivers headrest blew, while backing up

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the back and shoulder. A police report was not filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard. The failure and current mileage was 24,000.

Was in an accident. Went off the side of the road, though a yard and over an embankment resting against a tree. Front end damage, and damage to both sides of the vehicle.no airbags deployed. Vehicle was traveling at approximately 58-60 mph at the time of the crash. This was on a state rural route.

This vehicle was involved in a one vehicle crash. The vehicle struck a utility pole at 28mph. The impact was in the center front.the car has been downloaded using bosch data retrieval software. I am a crash reconstruction trooper with the ohio state highway patrol. All data in the download would normally indicate that the airbags and seat belts would have activated.the concern is as to why none of the safety restraint system seems to have worked.please contact me for additional information.*dt *dt

The airbag light on instrument cluster came on and stays on - this apparently disables airbags so they will not go off in the event of a crash.

I was traveling to work on the city street in my 2013 dodge journey sxt, a person ran the red light and struck me near the gas tank and then struck me a second time in the front drivers side of the vehicle. Six of the air bags deployed, the vehicle was totaled in the crash.i am writing this because i know that i am here today due to the build of the 2013 dodge journey sxt.i was so surprised that i went out and purchased another dodge journey.

I was at the drive in movie and had the truck running for part of the movie. I shut the truck off and just listened to the rest of the movie via my radio and had the lights off. When the movie was over i i could not crank my truck. You could see the lights on in the inside but my truck dash said my key was not in vehicle of which it was. Then it said vehicle not in park of which it was. My uconnect screen kept trying to load and would just keep going out. I had 3 people try to jump it just in case the battery was dead even though i knew it wasn't including the tow service for my insurance. None of this worked. I had to get the vehicle towed home now i can not lock my vehicle cause it has no power. My dash says my key is not in the vehicle of which it was and that the vehicle is not in park of which it was. Now on my dash it says the following lights are on: etl electronic throttle light, air bag warning light, and mil malfunction indicator light. I saw a lot of complaints about this on google and youtube when i search this issue this has got to be fixed caused i am a doge fan but i can not keep a vehicle that i am paying on and it doesn't work. All the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt failed to restrain the contact. The contact sustained injuries to the head, face, neck, spine, knee, and chest, as well as lost consciousness. Medical attention was required and the contact was transported to the hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an insurance facility where it was deemed destroyed. The active headrest has failed.i initially thought it was deployed, but after attempting to reset the unit, i noticed the silver pin that was designed to hold the headrest in position was loose.the small pieces of plastic that held this in place have completely broken loose, thus deploying the headrest.closing this back into position is now impossible.i considered ordering a replacement part, but why should i buy something that is likely to fail?i called the dealer to see what they would charge to fix this for me, after being quoted $192 in labor, i decided that they would not be helping me with this.i'm glad this did not slap me in the back of the head while i was driving.this could very well knock a driver unconscious, or cause him or her to lose control of the vehicle.it is my opinion this needs to be examined before someone is killed, or do we have to wait for that to happen before a recall is issued?my vehicle was stationary.i found the headrest open when i opened the door to go to work.i would be more than happy to discuss this further.i can get photos of the broken headrest, i'm at work at the moment, but i can take pictures tonight and upload tomorrow if need be.thank you for your time. I've had both drivers and passengers active headrest brake with out warning. The passenger side one broke with the car running parked in a driveway at 75k, passenger was struck. The drivers side one broke overnight when no one was around at 85k, in a driveway. Both were broke and need replacing, the actuator was still in the locked position (not deployed).

Passenger headrest airbag spontaneously deployed injuring passenger. The vehicle was parked and stationary at the time of the incident.

My driver sideheadrest deployed while driving. I was driving and heard a noise and when i got to the stop light i noticed it had deployed as was fully open.clearly this is a defect in manufacturing. Look at the dodge journey forums and you'll see many others have this issue.that is why i did a search on recalls and came acrossthis site and so many others have the same issue, so dodge we are waiting on you. Ps that is properly why my check engine light came on..

The contact owned a 2013 dodge journey. While driving 45 mph at night, the contact drove over a large tree branch that was not visible at the time. I rear-ended a dodge ram truck. My entire front end was pushed back. None of the air bags deployed and my seat belt didn't tighten. My car was totaled. My face hit the steering wheel resulting in my tooth going into my lip. I sustained whiplash and my knees hit the dashboard and were injured.luckily i was the only one in my car. Considering none of the safety features of the vehicle worked it could have been much worse.

Dodge journey 2013 headrest deployment while driving down the road for no reason.

My wife was t-boned on the passenger side, by a vehicle supposedly traveling 25 mph, with my son in the passenger seat and the side airbags did not deploy. She was crossing an intersection when the collision happened.

Takata recall, the air bag light on the dashboard inexplicably turned on and keeps doing so intermittently.it will stay on, then turn off and repeat, with a beeping sound.

I was waiting for my son to get out of practice. The car was off and i was smacked very hard in the head from behind. I looked back to see the the headrest had popped out. After researching the issue, i thought it needed reset. Bit after looking at it, the plastic connection points of the pin had actually broke and the headrest cannot be reset but now needs to be replaced at a crazy price.

My whole steering column is causing problems from airbags, my wipers not working now, speed-control wont work., traction control . Causing my car to swerve out of control and causing my car to almost rollover as it went into oncoming traffic, i keep having to change my tires including the back tires the most.the car was in motion when this happened.the light is on the dash, but no one will fix it, i have a son who is 14 years old i bought the car because i thought it would be dependable. My son has to have a live and kidney transplant. The car is still under 100,000 ,miles. So you can imagine when i found all this out. They said or the dealer said that the car does have recalls but wont fix them, i was told that there is a wiring harness problem. Please help, thank you ,[xxx]ps: there are still other issues not listed above. The car is leaking oil around the oil pan. When she was driving she got to the top of the hill. And the car shut down. She had no control over it ,it flipped twice. And then monday i get a recall notice on my wives car that hers can shut down. Dodge really needs to find out what's going on with the dodge journey, i'm fixing to get a lawyer and sue i guess if no one can tell us what's going on. She hadn't even paid the first payment on it yet, know farm bureau won't stop her payments, this is crazy the car is totalled and could have been a lot worse. I want something done immediately before we get a lawyer on to didge!

For over 2 years i've tried various things to get my reverse lights to work. Checked fuses, checked the bulbs. One day my reverse lights stopped working, my hatch stopped locking and unlocking while all other doors complied. And some of my brake lights stopped working. After vigorously youtubing, i found a video on changing the liftgate wiring. Where i found my issue. This is a serious fire hazard!! when i removed the wiring harness, 4 of my wires looked as though they had been cut. No wonder things weren't working.. After using electrical connectors and electrical tape my reverse lights are now fixed. However, knowing i could've died in a car fire just doesn't sit well for me and my children.

I have a 5yr. 100,00 ml warranty on this car bumber to bumber . Months of problems to find out it has internal failure totally integratedpower module.. Months of car jumping, towing, doors locking cant get out, lights flashing,2 recalls, brought a car battery now its sitting on dodge lot since 10/17/17.an will not run. As a consumer who brought this vehicle believing dodge would hold to this accountability total failure and wants me to pay for it this should not be accepted. My experience with this is not safe for me and my family.

My vehicle has undergone repeated repair attempts, for a defect and nonconformity with defective transmission, transmission clunk, defective a/c, defective door locks, defective window regulator, and radio failure.these nonconformities substantially impair the use, value and safety of the subject vehicle.the transmission has shifting issues to the point of having to force it into reverse, especially if parked on an incline.the defective a/c and radio seem to be contained in the all-in-one unit in which the radio goes out and a/c will turn on at random and not turn off.the unit has been completely replaced once, only for the problem to continue.the defective door locks and window regulator was a result of wiring issue bcm and door latch assembly.i have filed a lemon law suit against chrysler and bill luke, only to be declined as they state it was all within warranty.the vehicle is not worth nearly what i owe on it and has a huge list of repairs that would reflect negatively on carfax in the event of trade or resale.i have attached a summary of repairs, but have additional documentation, if needed.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. While driving 85 mph, the speedometer fluctuated from 0 to 20 mph and the battery saver mode and abs light illuminated. The contact also stated that the radio failed and the headlights dimmed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it could not be diagnosed. The failure recurred frequently. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

We have owned our journey for three years.starting last year we have had a significant electrical issue that no one can fix.in order to unlock our doors, one has to press unlock an upward of 5 times.this has become an everyday occurrence and poses a threat to safety if we ever get in an accident.during these events the vehicle is stationary.we have noticed that the clock in the journey will either gain time or loose it, without us even touching it over the course of a week or more at a time, we've given up on setting it at all.again, the vehicle is stationary. One in every four times entering the journey, our main dome light (around the second row of seats) will be illuminated without any interaction from us and its normally on for hours at a time.stationary in our driveway or in a parking lot.finally, our rear windshield wiper seems to have a short or something wrong with it.some days it works perfectly fine and other days we are unable to turn it on to use it.i often go out to the car and notice the wiper is half done wiping the window and stuck there.recently if you hit a bump, the rear windshield wiper would go off and wipe the glass without our interaction.all of this happens while stationary or while driving.also just recently its noticed by my wife that the journey sometimes locks if we shut the door while warming it up.she mentioned that sometimes when locking the car it would honk more than once or sometimes the key fob wasn't operational (leading to us opening up the key fob, making sure the battery was seated properly and closing it back up) this is while stationary.the date i have associated with this isn't the date of the occurrence because this has all taken place over the past year to a little longer than a year.we've taken it to more than one repair shop to no avail.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. While the contact's son was driving 40 mph, the dashboard was emitting extreme heat on the floor and fire emerged from the engine compartment. There were no warning indicators illuminated. A police report was not filed. The driver extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to hendrick chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of concord (7630 hendrick auto plaza nw, concord, nc 28027, (704) 467-8270) where it was diagnosed that the engine cylinder was faulty and there was no oil in the vehicle. Also, the starter, battery, and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 46,000.

Glove box illumination light stays on. The switch does work when depressed by hand, however, the glove box does not sit high enough when latched to depress the shutoff switch far enough to turn off the light. Attempted several fixes such as an empty glove box to no avail. The only temporary solution is closing the glove box with an object between the switch and the glove box to shut off the light.the light had been illuminated for a very long time when i noticed it, and with the light being an incandescent it was very hot. Likely to start a fire if a user stores napkins or other paper products in the glove box and they reach the light area, which can be reached by hand with the box open.the only indicator that the light is on while the glove box is closed is a small dim light visible through the passenger side vent.

The rear hatch wires that connect to the hatch are all frayed and or broken causing sparks and non functioning hatch lock switch, brake light problems, and dangerous! the problem is dodge cheaper out on the wires they used and they fall apart and break also they aren't long enough. My other issue is the wipers are noisy no matter what brand used and i mean really loud, lastly the wiper spray nozzle on back doesn't spray the one on the hood broke off and the rear wiper doesn't wipe the whole windshield neither does the front wipers! the main issue is the cheap electrical wiring on this car it easily breaks off and falls apart within 5 years the wires are no longer useable! dodge needs to recall the wiring 100%

All controls for the heat/air/defog will not work.the system will not turn on.this problem was fixed once by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, but this no longer works.this was noticed upon starting the vehicle.i have read about numerous failures and shorts within the modules that controls these systems.this has caused difficulties operating the vehicle in certain weather because the windows fog up.

Battery goes dead frequently when vehicle is left alone from 12 to 48 hours. Replaced battery with a new top of a line sears best.. Problem still exists. Very dangerous when vehicle will not start at the end of a work day stranded in a parking spot in a bad side of town.electric door locks will not open doors due to dead battery.constant unknown battery drain!!!happens frequently. This vehicle is a lemon!!

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle jerked violently. The contact lost control of the steering wheel and crashed into a concrete barrier. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The instrument panel lights illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be found. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.updated 10/18/16*ljthe consumer stated she experienced a tire blow out, and the alternator and battery needed to be replaced. Updated 10/25/16.

Takara recall the car is randomly draining the battery. There is nothing plugged in nor lights left on. My clock seems to gain time randomly as well as my bluetooth function not responding. I can drive the car and then park it in my heated garage go out 30 mins later and the battery is drained. I also replaced the battery while having the old battery tested. Same occurance. And old battery tested fine at auto zone. This has happened multiple times over the last three days. The car will start once jumped.

My whole steering column is causing problems from airbags, my wipers not working now, speed-control wont work., traction control . There are 2 different problems i have been dealing with since day one of owning my dodge journey. The first being electrical, my clock runs fast because of the power flow to it. I have 2 power outlets in my car that do not work properly and 1 of them the dealership in florida messed up to fix one of the electrical problems. The second issue is when i accelerate my transmission clicks, i was pretty much told i was crazy by the dealership that they couldn't duplicate the noise and now that i do not have a warranty they are reporting it to me and want me to pay. The last and final issue is my brakes i have had my brake booster replaced and my break master cylinder and i still keep losing my brakes. If i have to slam on my brakes or put any real pressure my brakes go soft and to the floor. Both of these parts were replaced by the dealership and they were just guessing on what was wrong and they didn't correct the problem.

Stationary at the time mechanic came, car had not been running right, hesitating while driving, and stalled in driveway.battery not charging or holding a charge/ no start, no nothing sent to local mechanic - i have not had a running car for five weeks.alternator shot, and charging system, requires complete re wire as of 8-13 /3 burnt wires, mechanic called auto electric specialist, indicated complete charging system burnt up.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. The contact stated that the speedometer displayed incorrect speeds. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage and vin was not available.

I could not set the cruise control without hitting the steering wheel.once i got the cruise control set to 75 mph i could not get it to turn off. I hit the brakes 5 times before it would decelerate.once the cruise control turned off there was a sudden hard shift on the engine and a loud knocking sound.

My dodge journey's engine shut off twice while i was driving with no warning.no loss of lights or radio, but the engine just shuts off and car cannot be restarted. The first time i was driving on a highway, and right after accelerating from a stop at a red light the car died.had to have it towed, and had an auto part store do some basic tests and was told it was just a bad battery, however when it happened again the day after replacing the battery.this time i was on a city street having just exited off of the interstate.i was in traffic and again the car just lost power due to the engine shutting down.again it would not start and could not be jump started so had it towed to the dealer.dealer was able to get a code p061c, and followed instructions to update the pcm.from what i understand, a software update was applied to the power control module.i am very concerned with the fact that my car can just shut down the engine with no warning at all.very dangerous.

My radio keeps changing stations as i am driving.sometimes it happens when i hit a bump, sometimes it just does it randomly on its own.it happens when driving or stationary. Very frustrating!

My car stalled on me while driving. The first time (2014) it happened i was making a turn on a city street. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with it while under warranty.it just stalled while driving last week for a second time. I was waiting on a light on a city street. My car was completely dead i couldn't put the hazard lights on. I was in the middle of a school zone. I tried starting it and nothing. Two gentlemen had to push my car out of traffic.this is very unsafe, imagine had i been on the highway someone would of hit from me behind as i had no power at all. There was no way of warning the cars behind me as i had no power.i replaced the battery in 1/2021 and alternator in 3/2021. I have seen many complaints on the dodge forum website i believe something has to be done for safety issues.also my bluetooth system is not working that is also a safety issue. I did complain to dodge and they couldn't do anything about it. I have seen a lotof complaints on the dodge forum website.my dodge journey is currently at a shop under diagnostics. It makes it unsafe for me to want to drive it at this point.

Battery light came on diagnostic test was performed i was told to change the alternator which i did. An hour later the light came on again then i was told to replace the battery which i did. After an hour drive the light came on again i was told the battery sensor needed to be replaced. The next day the car died completely i had to get towed. I was told to get an alternator from mopar which i did. New battery another new alternator a new sensor now the check engine light is on.

For two years battery has been unable to hold charge, even when replaced new, engine riding rough to complete stop in road, no flashers etc.alternator replaced complete electric harness burnt, all fixed still will not hold battery charge.no car for two months.car stalled in road.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The hazard lights and all of the warning indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. The contact stated that jumper cables were placed on the battery in an attempt to start the vehicle; however, the jumper cables caught fire inadvertently. The contact used a rag to remove the jumper cables from the battery and the fire was extinguished. The contact sustained a minor burn to her thumb that did not require medical attention. A police report was not filed. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,730.

Tipm deffectid

Vehicle won't start on first try. After first try lighting bolt warning light comes on and car idles rough. I turn vehicle off wait for about 2 min. Then retry to start vehicle. Vehicle starts up and light does not come on. For the rest of the day the car starts and runs ok. Once the car sits overnight and i go to start it the same thing happens.i called dodge and was told that lighting bolt is the electrical throttle control. I went on line and a lot of people are having this same problem with their dodge vehicle. Why hasn't there been an recall regarding this problem? are they waiting for some tragic accidents first, then lawsuits? dodge told me the cost to fix would be $400-$600. I just bought this vehicle in may of 2014, dodge should stand by their product and fix this for free. This is a dodge product failure and nothing that i did wrong. Throttle body problems is not covered under my extended warranty, even if it was dodge should do a recall and fix this problem.

Purchase date of car was roughly 12/01/12. On 08/23/15, the vehicle wouldn't start and i was told it needed a new battery, so it was replaced the same day.prior to that, i was noticing strange things like the a/c going full blast and i wasn't able to turn it off, etc. Car wouldn't start again 12/07/15, and i was again told the battery needed to be replaced.dealer ran diagnostics and found nothing, but charged me $150.battery was still under warranty with sears, so they replaced it at no charge.battery died again 03/20/16 while sitting in a parking lot idling for a while. Went on vacation for 10 days in spring of 2016, so vehicle sat, and i returned to a completely dead battery on 04/05/16. Jump started vehicle and drove it a while.vehicle wouldn't shift down when getting on freeway and was revving way too high, the interior lights were flashing, and a battery saver mode message appeared on the display.i took it to sears again on 04/14/16 (it had sat for 2 days again, and wouldn't start, so had to be jumped).they've had it a week now, have run all kinds of tests and the only thing they can determine is that the battery is draining while the vehicle is parked and not running.sears is going to replace the battery for me again, but there is clearly a bigger issue going on here, and i hope this is researched further.i also spoke with a technician at the dealership, and he advised they have no recalls on file for this issue.as an aside, when researching the battery saver mode message, i ran across the following thread (so i may have sears replace the alternator too, which could be a waste of money, but may be a necessity... Who knows):http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php/352443-battery-saver-mode-bad-alternator-(must-read)

Hi i received various fca notification the last time i left the car at dadeland dodge dealer in miami florida and the supposedly fix a electrical problems but now did i turn off the ac the ac turn on automatically withou i push any bottom now i received another letter from you about abs problems and i do worry about this because my wife and 2 kids use this car and also i pay a loan and my credit is involvedin this situation can you send me a real technician to my house or somebody to fix it well like when i buy it or give me any good optionbecause is the life of my family let me know thanks.

While i was driving i smelled something burning.noticed smoke coming out of air vent (driver side near window).pulled over and notice brown\black smoke coming out of driver's side door (where window and lock controls are).got kids out of the vehicle and called the fire department.when car is turned back on the door continues to smoke.windows have opened and closed with no power.was cautioned not to drive it as it will catch on fire.reading other recalls on window switches there may be a possibility of catching fire while sitting still.

Fuel hand goes to empty, lights power off, power locks stop working, a/c cuts off while in motion but car will not cut off unless disconnected from battery happened on a city street but i drove on the highway afterwards just to get it home will not crank from push start button have to reconnect the battery and hold down a fuse

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. On several occasions the vehicle failed to immediately restart. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The battery was replaced however, the failure persisted. Schumacher chrysler dodge locate at 2102 federal hwy a, delray beach, fl 33483, and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

Car has been serviced 5 times in the last 9 months for the same electrical issues. All 5 times car has had a dead battery in the morning, sometimes enough to have door lighting/radio come on (but can't start car) but usually no electrical activity at all. Diagnosed as a "bad battery" twice, a bad alternator once, and an issue with the glovebox light the 4th time. Car battery was dead again 1 week later after the glovebox "fix". Car is kept inside the garage at home at all times. The first dead battery happened in april of '15, then again june '15, october '15, and twice again jan '16. Sometimes the car was driven long distances the day before, and sometimes it's sat in the garage since friday.

The contact rented a 2013 dodge journey. The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with a keyless push to start button feature. After the contact pressed the key fob to lock the doors, the vehicle failed to indicate that the engine was still running. The manufacturer was notified about the failure.the vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 39,301.

Takata recall. My car doesn't want to start. I tried jump starting it didn't work. The display say vehicle not in park. Battery is fine.

Vehicle never shifts right. Doors sometimes won't unlock leaving me stuck inside. Stranded on side of road after battery saver light came on and abs light causing my car rpms to fly up to 4 repeatedly and i could barely get off the main road safely befoelre the car stopped running. When i go to turn it back on says my car is not in park which it is. I really hope i'm not dealing with what other people have dealt with with this vehicle. My car is about to hit 70k miles. I get every service done to it. Also got the brakes done new and they still squeak.

I have had the car three months and the car has been in the shop multiple times had the engine replaced and the battery and the car is doing it again it will not start and i'm at the end with this lemon of a car

1. Problem with doors not unlocking from exterior door lever button. 2. Ignition not working every time it rains or goes through car wash.3. Interior lights flashing on and off when going through car wash

My 2013 dodge journey has a random no start. It will just click. The battery, alternator, and starter are all good. I usually have to jump it to get it to start. Sometimes that doesn't even work. It will make the lights start to go haywire. They will flicker or flash on and off. It will say no key detected when i'm literally sitting with my key fob in hand. It is a push button start. I have got the batteries replaced in the key fob as well. This will happen at random. It's happened in my driveway with a slight incline so we parked it on the curb where it was flat to see of maybe the incline of the driveway had anything to do with it, but it's done it on flat surfaces as well. I have tried to look up reasons why and have seen this as an issue with a lot of other journey owners. This started back in the spring and happens several times in a week then it will stop for almost a month and the cycle will start all over again.

Takata recallsometimes my vehicle will not star,t basically every week. I cannot push the pedal down nothing lights up the windshield wipers will not stop going off airbag light, engine, and tire pressure sensor all come on. If car does start the windshield wipers will continue as well as lights then gas gunge will go to zero, cruise control shuts off and blinkers will not work, all happens simultaneously while driving making it very dangerous. I have found many people with this issue yet no clear fix. It is very dangerous and out right ridiculous there is no recall for this safety issue. These issues happen while the vehicle is in driveway and has happened on highway. I do not feel safe having my children in this car.

Thus the 4th time win thin a 2 year period that my 2013 dodge journey let me sit.time 1&2 battery need to be replaced, a costly bill.3rd time the fuse blew.all 3 times my cars check engine light came on & a weeks let me sit.as of jan. 8, again my car leaving me, engine light came on & a weeks later left me sit.not sure what to do at this point, i'm unemployed & have a car payment, i can't afford a costly repair.this seems to be a general problem with the journeys, why on earth aren't you recalling them.i know that it would be costly, but at least you might have happy customers.i'm thinking of surrendering the vehicle due to this continuous no start problem.my next step is to file a complaint with chrysler capital.

I purchased this car in 2012 and since then, i have replaced the battery at least once a year and dodge keeps telling me that there is nothing wrong with the car. To me, this is a design flaw as i cannot get to the battery to check water or status. I was driving down the road the other day when all the idiot lights started flashing, so i pulled over and turned off the car. I tried to restart it and the battery was dead!! e tn dodge had just replaced the battery, under warranty, as i had just replaced the battery two months earlier, and now it was dead, once again, 1 year later, almost to the day. And now it's back at e tn dodge, replacing the battery once again. And yet, dodge keeps telling me that there is nothing wrong with the car, that replacing the battery, once a year, is normal in this area. I spoke with george stephens at the dodge dealer and he was the one who said that. I have called chrysler and they keep telling me to "bring it to the nearest dealer",chrysler has told me this four times for a total of about5 weeks downtime, both at the dealer and on the road/home total. I truly cannot get anyone at chrysler to listen to me and they are not taking this seriously. At the same time, since owning the car, my remote will not start the car if it's cold. I have to physically go outside, open the car door, sit in the seat and start it as if i was going to use it right than and there. I have the paperwork where i have taken it to rocky williams dodge, in mt. Juliet, tn to get it fixed and they said "nothing wrong"....,to me, this is a serious design flaw and safety issue as if i or my wife are on the interstate and the battery dies, i am stuck. And it has happened before...

Battery kept going dead

Help

We have taken our vehicle into the local dodge dealership at least 5 times since august 2016 for the same safety concerns of jerking and stalling while driving on city streets. The most recent episode occurred today. We have had multiple near miss accidents due to the stalling. The dealership has charged us almost $2000 over these last 3 years. These charges have included replacement of tires, batteries and sensors without resolution of problem. Please help us resolve this issue for the safety of the passengers who are travelling in our vehicle and those who are driving around us. Thank you.

I've had my journey for only 7 years. A year and a half ago the module stopped working so i couldn't connect my iphone to uconnect. I called the dealers and asked how much to fix this and they said an outrages amount of over 200.00.so i decided not to deal with them.by the way i was driving. This was the dodge dealers in woodbury nj. A few days ago i realize that my air conditioner turns on by itself once i shut it off by pushing the ac button. I was driving my car

Driving on highway and engine died. Dash lights and gaugesflashed off and on. Speedometerwent back and forth. Then it started running again. A couple days later it died while turning a corner. I had to restart vehicle. A couple days after that i went to start the car and no lights, gauges or nothing worked. The battery and remote key were fine. Checked to see if horn would blow, it worked.tried to start again and everything worked fine. It is very unsafe for it to just die white on the highway goin around a curve.

Existing problem ~doors will not unlock.sometimes i cannot get in my vehicle, then sometimes the persons in back seat cannot get out. There is no pattern it may work for a week day or month then start messing up again. This to me could be a safety issue because i carry my grandmother, mother and granddaughter in my vehicle on a regular basis. Also when i go to work it is dark outside and i feel like i need to get into my car then not have to wait and hope it unlocks. My car has been to the dealership 2 times getting ready to go back for a 3rd trip.

Without warning one day the car started smoking then caught on fire right while i was driving on the hwy.i quickly jumped out on the hwy almost into traffic trying to get away from the suv thet within seconds quickly engulfed into flames.i could have been killed.the dealership made no mention about the defects or repairs.i would like to file a complain/lawsuit to seek a full refund along with damages, pain and suffering.

My battery and alternator had to be change recently ....plus there was hole. On the coolant line which cause. My car to over heat ...can you please check for the coolant wire and the alternator on 2013 models

My vehicle has had two failed alternators.the vehicle has less than 50000 miles.the first happened less than a year.it was replaced under the warranty.the 2nd was recently replaced via an extended service contract but still cost me $200 for the deductible and a battery that was ruined by the alternator.each time i had a battery saver mode message, nothing about the alternator.the 2nd time i was traveling across country and the veichle started downshifting and all the dashboard indicators started randomingly lighting up like a pinball game.i was barely able to get the vehicle off the highway so i wound't get hit.i was also in a sparsely populated area and was lucky to get towed to a nearby dealership.

I own a 2013 dodge journey. On october 5th many electrical issues began and continue even after the recalls here addressed. Abs light came on, traction control disabled, cruise control function quit working dash displays/touchscreen began to flicker, bluetooth/uconnect/voice systems became non-responsive, ambient lighting on the passenger side flickers on and off, and the climate control system turned on after being set to the off position. The vehicle cabin is being contaminated by fumes and by the fiberglass soundproofing that is somehow entering the cabin. Dealership claims the recalls were addressed abut the abs and traction control issues are due to a speed control sensor, wants to charge me the $227 for this sensor, the voice system is due to another module (still awaiting pricing), can't figure out why the various other electrical issues are occurring, nor how the fiberglass and fumes are getting in and that none of this is covered by the recalls nor by my manufacturer powertrainwarranty, and he knows many people that haven't wrecked driving without the traction control and abs systems so we can pick it up and drive it until we are ready to order the parts and pay for the repair. Fiberglass contamination is a pretty serious issue that causes cancer and various other health issues, the traction control, dashboard display, and antilock breaking systems are a serious safety concern and the recall stated loss of control could result in a crash and the vehicle should be fixed immediately

Crank sensor, cut out twice within 2 years time and had to get replaced!each time, vehicle was in motion!very dangerous!had to tow vehicle each time.my child was in the vehicle with me the first time. I expect full reimbursement for each incident.

In the afternoon, they called me to say that the lights that indicated problems with the abs system will not turn off if a sensor is not replaced, which cost is $115. I dont agree and are not satisfied by their explanation. I understand that if the problem of the recall caused the signal advice, it should be repaired. Own a dodge journey sxt awd 2013. Received recall notification r61/nhtsa recall 15v-675 on december 27, 2015 regarding possible anti-lock brake system (abs) and electronic stability control (esc) systems failure. I had an accident with this vehicle on july 28, 2015 (rear-ended another vehicle, tried to avoid collision, but vehicle did not react as expected) causing a total damage to this vehicle of app. $ 5,000. I have 33 years of driving experience and never had an accident until that day. I could not explain to the investigating police department nor to my insurance company why this accident happened. I tried to contact the fca (dodge) customer service/recall center, but did not receive a response yet.

My battery died at year and a half, of 3 year warranty. After going several rounds and up to manager, they replaced the defective battery. I had rcvd info on recall t47, w/airbags and steering wiring issue, so had that taken care of also. I p/u journey, on my way hm the esc light kept coming on and brakes would lock up, car would pull to the left and alot of rattling under the front end, pulling me into other lane. It was dry, no rain on a straight road. Called had to wait 4 days to take back in, told they forgot to re-initialize abs system and that the battery being disconnected caused issue, i asked why it didn't happen after 1st battery was replaced, they didn't know. On my way home, the issue was back, took it back to lhmiller dodge, was then told that they need to diagnose, saying it could be clock spring/axle/driveshaft/differential and it will cost several hundreds just to diagnose. I asked if they could replace the initial recalled r16 esc part and was told that would be at my expense. I was told that they did not open the steering wheel/shaft to have caused the issue w/clock spring during t47 repair. The instructions on replacement show that they would have to open it and be in direct contact w/clock spring.they are wanting to pay for what was not replaced and what they damaged. My car is still having the issue and i think they should replace the esc part and clock spring at no charge.i don't have money to get a diagnosis and then have to pay additional for repair. The esc light comes on while i am in park and while driving on straight city roads, it engages and the vehicle starts to slow down like it is going to stall and you cannot apply gas or it pulls more. Before i took it in for the warrantied battery and recall, i had no issues with the vehicle.

I took my car to five star dodge in warner robins, ga to have the recall (r61) repairs done to the vehicle. While the dealership had my car they called and told me that they did the recall but my abs (anti lock brake system) light was still on which is what the recall is for and they would look at it but it would cost me the diagnostic fee if i didn't get the repairs done or they would charge me for the repairs. Why should i have to pay for repairs for a problem that was recalled on the vehicle? i don't understand.

I was charged over $1100 for an alternator and battery and labor. Then when i was given my billing paperwork the milage was written in as 155000 miles. My actual mileage was over 167000 miles thereby voiding all warranties as you can see in the photo. I had to return to the dealership and force them to fix the paperwork.just a few months ago i took my challenger in to have the transmission serviced. They overfilled the transmission fluid. Again i had to return to have the issue resolved.i have been going to the lake city dealership for 6 years and never had a problem when it was sunbelt .now it is roundtree moore and i have had nothing but issues since the change.

About october 2019, while pulling into a gas station, my 2013 dodge journey just shut off. No warnings, no lights went off to indicate what happened. I put it in park, pushed the ignition button so that the car was actually off, and then re-started it. It started with no issues, and was fine. Then in november of 2019 my check engine light came on, i took it to a local auto parts store and had them run a diagnostic on it, which came back that the crank shaft position sensor need some attention. However, the next day when i started my car, the check engine light wasn't on, and it stayed off. That is until today, 2.20.2020. While driving down a highway, the check engine light came on again. I took it to the auto store, had them run a test, which came back as the crank shaft position sensor again. My car hasn't stopped on me yet, and i hope it doesn't, and i am looking to get this repaired. However, every one i have seen having the same issue, states it happens repeatedly. I really hope to have a recall on this, as it appears to be an issue with the vehicle itself and not something the consumers should have to keep paying for! we shouldn't have to drive in fear every time we get behind the wheel, especially when we have children riding in our vehicles! please fix this!

I managed to pull into a gas station, put it in park then it restarted after i pushed the button. I did chat with chrysler and they said no recalls or issues showed up for my car. After googling my experience, i found numerous other complaints from people having the same problem. If i had been going faster on the highway or even on our curvy backroads i could have been seriously injured or even killed! i drive my children in this car and i'm scared to death to get back in it. I'm still paying on nb this car and it's a deathtrap!

The engine has started to cut off when i decelerate, such as to make a turn or come to a stop. This is dangerous in mid-traffic, especially when my family is in the car. It has happened a few times and is becoming more frequent, as in the last time this happened was yesterday. I see that there are many other complaints from customers experiencing this with their dodge journeys and wondering why there isn't a recall for this incredibly dangerous occurrence.

My journey keeps stalling on me especially when stopped (red lights, stop signs, in traffic etc.) at one point it even stalled out on me while driving and i couldn't move the steering wheel, brakes, nothing! it completely locked up. I was lucky that that time i was in my neighborhood otherwise i would have gotten in a car accident. At first the fuel cap light kept coming on, dodge dealer told us to just have the cap replaced (we did) but the light keeps coming on and off still and not resolving any problems. Then a red lightening bolt came on a couple times and that's when my car would shut off at a stop and try restarting on its own. Now at the moment no lights are on and it's still stalling. And every time is stalls it's always in drive and will completely turn off. It has stalled in parked a few times also but majority of the time is when stopped in drive. This is very very dangerous. I have 3 kids who are always with me. I can't imagine if something happened because of this. I've done my research and noticed there are many many people having the same exact issue. Dodge needs to recall the vehicle quickly before they run into a lawsuit.

Im paying for second owbership put 1300.00 cash down paying monthly car note of 313.00 single parent of 4 children

Takata recall. My car doesn't want to start. I tried jump starting it didn't work. The display say vehicle not in park. Battery is fine.

Misfire, loss of power, and stalling while in motion and while idling . Had vehicle inspected. Cylinder #2 has a misfire and the cylinder head needs replaced. I was informed that my year make and model was involved in an extended warrantly from chrysler to cover all vehiclesfitted with the 3.6 liter motor for this exact same issue. However my particular vin isn't showing that it is covered even though i have the exact same motor, year make and model, and issues as the others. This is not fair that i am experience these issues but they refuse to fix it because my vin isn't on the list!!!this is very expensive to fix and is dangerous. I was driving on the highway and completely lost power, i was almost hit by another vehicle while i was trying to find a place to get off the road. This has happened on several occasions. The vehicle will stall when i am pulling out , which has left me stalling in the middle of the road on more than one occasion. This is my primary vehicle and i have no choice but to continue to drive it. This is a defect that has been recognized by chrysler group and yet they refuse to fix my vehicle.the extended warranty was to cover the pentastar v6 3.6 liter six-cylinder to 10 years or 150,000 miles which ever comes first.

While driving on u.s. 84 highway in alabama i noticed the engine making a strange noise and pulled over to the side of the road.i could then see smoke coming from under the hood, when i opened the hood i could see at the base of the engine orange flames.used water bottles on hand to put out the fire.after my insurance company sent out inspectors it was found that wiring to the oxygen sensor had shorted out causing the fire.inspectors believe it was faulty wiring that caused the fire.contacted chrysler and they denied any responsibility.

I believe our dodge journey is either a 2013 or 2014.i looked & i could not find a recall for the red rear brake light cover.the edges of the rear light cover are not covered with a foam liner or plastic liner.my husband, my child & i have cut the inside palms of our hands on the light cover.the light cover is dangerous & we try to be careful not to cut ourselves.we warn our children to stay away from the lights.please look into this problem so no one else gets hurt.thank you for your time.

Vehicles abs and traction lights came on several times and went off. There is a grinding sound when i try to break.i have to pay $65 to have the issue diagnosed. This vehicle hasgiven me problems since i got it. I need to have this fixed

I have owned my dodge journey since may 2013, and after two years i began to have problems. The vehicle does not pick up and go. At times when the vehicle is in idling mode (like if i am sitting at a traffic light) it acts as if it wants to stop. On other occasions the vehicle acts as if it wants to stop, even if i am in drive or just sitting in park. I recently had a tune and the battery replaced. I am still having the same problem! however, it's even worse now because the vehicle constantly shakes and wants to stop while i am caught up in traffic, which is very dangerous (especially when i have my children and dogs in the vehicle with me). I want this issue resolved. I bring my vehicle in for regular maintenance as required, and when i mentioned the issue to my service advisor at the dodge dealership where i originally purchased the vehicle, they told me it's because the vehicle is getting old. The most recent incident of the vehicle shaking and wanting to stop occurred yesterday afternoon while i was driving down hwy i-64. Because of all of these issues i am never buying a dodge again.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. The contact stated that the service engine, fuel cap, and electronic throttle control warning indicators kept flashing. Also, there was a drastic reduction in speed and the vehicle hesitated to accelerate while on an incline or hill to the point of stalling. The contact also noticed a strong odor of fuel inside and outside of the vehicle. The dealer (ramey chrysler jeep, dodge, ram, 498 courthouse rd, princeton, wv 24739, 1-888-794-4317) was notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The dealer and the manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from any recalls. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

My car keeps misfiring and i replaced my spark plugs and coil packs several times.

Bought the 2013 dodge journey brand new on march 2013. My journey only has less than 21,000 miles on it and yet the v6 misfires causing the gas to fill the (all the way to the muffler) back and front (engine) of the vehicle, i found this out when i turn on my car saturday morning, the car started shaking and i could smell the gas fumes filling up the inside if the car. I drop it off to the repair shop andi was told, i was lucky that it didn't caught on fire.

It will stall when idling.two separate occasions i could have been seriously injured. When turning left into an intersection it would not give any gas and the person coming thru the light had to slam on the brakes to keep from broadsiding my vehicle. Second time it happened while driving, i had pulled out of a driveway and it would not give me any gas. I have taken it to a few dealers and they don't know what it is. I finally took it back to the place where i purchased it and they changed the fuel throttle body. That was 8/21/2017. As of 9/21/17 it stalled on me again while in idle. I am so irritated with this and feel stuck.this has been going on a month after i bought it and was told to try different things and it only kept getting worse. I have been told unless the light comes on, there is nothing they can do.....

The #6 spark plug has a problem. I have had it replaced twice. The engine light goes on and off when the car runs a little hard. Then will turn off when it runs smooth. When i had the oil changed they said they have seen other dodge journeys with the same problem. My vehicle is just being driven in on the city streets. It happens when i am sitting at a light and the car is idling.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. The contact stated initially noticed that power steering fluid was leaking onto his driveway. The contact also stated that while driving at slower speeds, extra effort was needed to steer the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 16v273000 (steering) however, the vin was not included. Additionally, he also stated that while his wife was at stop light, the vehicle shut-off while accelerating. The contact stated that his wife was unaware if any warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. She was able to immediately restart the vehicle and resume normal driving. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Transmission unexpectedly downshifts at any speeds causing the engine to red line and the speed governor cuts off the fuel causing the vehicle to stall. The only way to resolve the problem is to restart the engine. Have almost been rear ended on more than one occasion.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. The contact stated that the transmission would exhibit an abnormal clunking noise and would shift hard. Something has gone very wrong in my transmission. Possibly tork converter or a pump causing 2 error codes and a huge winding noise upon starting the vehicle.the error codes are p083b for the tfps and p0944 hydraulic pressure unit. My car is 2013 and was purchased on april 7th with 44,011 miles on it.i have since put 14000 miles on it with the needed and proper oil changes every 5000 miles.i was driving and started hearing a high pitched winding noise.i started to head to someplace i would be able to park and stopped at a red light.once it turned green i proceeded to press on thr gas and the car didnt move rather slid backward almost hitting the car behind me.i had my 3 year old in the car properly restrained in the correct car seat but it was scary.i then had it towed to a transmission shop and got a diagnosis of needing to rebuild my transmission. So a 2013 dodge journey needs the transmission rebuilt at 58k miles.

The car stall at slow speed and sometime it will jerk forward..transmission making noises...when u stop u can hear it..this is brand new car. I might have it maybe 5 months now..call the chrysler all they is to take it to the dealer let them take a look at it...

Cylinder 2 misfire - engine lock suddenly as valve was not installed properly at time of manufacturing. This is a known defect in this make of dodge. My car is not included per the dealer and should be. The valve is faulty. Causing burnt valve and warped head. *extremely costly repair that was unavoidable with recommended regular maintenance on my vehicle! dealer will not repair. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. While the vehicle was parked in the driveway, an oil spot was noticed underneath the vehicle. The contact inspected the engine compartment and noticed oil in the engine. The vehicle was taken to ranco chrysler jeep dodge (8010 balboa ave, san diego, ca 92111, (858) 560-7100) where it was diagnosed that there could be an internal failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

2013 dodge journey has transmission shifting problems from a stop to a start.the journey was taken to our local chrysler dealership.they test drove the vehicle and said the transmission was overfilled.they drained some fluid out and test drove.my receipt for the vehicle states at the bottom found flash that had an update for ppm which was directly related to shifting issues.ran ppm update and performed a quick learn on transmi7 ssion which set all settings back to default on transmission.i will be taking the vehicle back to chrysler dealership again transmission slips still about 4 too 8 seconds between 1st and second gear.sometimes when i am on a steep hill it might roll backwards if their isn't enough speed from transmission slip.this vehicle can cause a accident their is a lot of complaints about the transmission on this vehicle.

At 110,000 miles vehicle started making a rattling sound coming from the engine compartment, no noise when cold but gets louder as the vehicle warms up. Gets louder when the ac is on or steering is turned at low speeds. But goes away with increased engine speed. Took it to a local shop where it was diagnosed as a broken flex plate. Shop said they were able to find 10 similar complaints and dodge sells a revised part design.

While driving 75mph on the highway the car suddenly lost power, losing all gas pedal function. I had my children in the vehicle and was driving in heavy traffic. This is a huge safety issue! after getting pulled over, once the car was turned off it would no longer restart. The car would not even go into neutral without using the bypass switch, which is how we got it on the tow truck. The dealership dug into the problem and found that the flex plate between the engine and transmission completely broke, something they flat out said should not happen. After researching the issue, i found that not only is this a very common problem among several models of chrysler (minivan) and dodge (ram and journey), but it has been an issue for many years in their v6 vehicles (back to 2006). The flex plate itself has been manufactured too thin and is not made safely, as the fix entails installing an aftermarket, much thicher, flex plate. This proves that there is a manufacturer defect in the original product. Even worse, this failure can cause major transmission problems. Not only is dodge risking my family's safety, but they risk the safety of other drivers traveling near any of their thousands of faulty vehicles, and the tow truck drivers who have to tow the broken down vehicles. I've spoken to dodge multiple times and all the want to tell me is that my car is out of warranty at 100,000. Dodge builds cars to break down after 100,000; at 110, 000 to be exact and i am not alone on this issue. Dodge needs to be held accountable for producing safer vehicles and not knowingly pushing cheap parts through manufacturing.

Front passenger seat seatbelt latch has failed prematurely. It no longer latches, preventing the front seat passenger from being protected.vehicle has only 124,000 miles on it.

The contact owned a 2013 dodge journey. While driving 15 mph and turning left, another vehicle crashed into the front passenger side of the contact's vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, but failed to assist. A dealer was contacted, but could not explain why the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt failed to restrain. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

While parked and sitting in my vehicle i heard a noise that sounded like someone was adjusting a seat. When i looked into the noise i noticed my drivers side headrest had separated apart and i was unable to reattach it.

Driver side active headrest deployed while driving at about 35 mph on a smooth road, no accident. Found that the plastic retainers were broken. Passenger side headrest also had damaged retainers.

The headrest deployed and plastic safety clips appear to be broken. Deployed for no reason.

My headrest deployed suddenly and broke apart into two pieces while i was driving approximately 45 mph on a flat, level highway.being so close to my ears, the noise was very loud.my head was thrust forward in a downward fashion.i initially thought i was rear-ended, but realized there were no other cars around me. It was very frightening to have this happen while driving.i have approximately 56,000 miles on my car.i am the only driver of the vehicle and do not transport children.there was no abuse/neglecton my part that could have caused or contributed to this situation.my neck is a little sore, but i suffered no serious injury.i do not feel it is safe to have my sister in my car because she has had a previous neck surgery.if it had happened to her, i do not believe she would have been as lucky.this is an extremely dangerous defect.

The active headrest restraint deployed for no apparent reason while driving straight on a city road.

As i was driving down my street at about 40 mph, the driver's side headrest spontaneously deployed, hitting me hard in the back of my head. I was on a city street going straight, and had hit no bumps.

Active head restraint headrest on front passenger side deployed on its own. Car was stationary and turned off. The passenger was buckled in and had leaning forward to open the glove compartment when the head rests popped open.

Passenger headrest airbag spontaneously deployed injuring passenger. The vehicle was parked and stationary at the time of the incident.

I was sitting with my car on, in park in the parking lot when my driver side headrest deployed. I didn't get in an accident, the headrest wasn't even being touched. It suddenly deployed and luckily i was leaning forward so it didn't hit me. It looks like something inside of it broke.

Safety features of the front head rest deployed without cause, while driving under normal conditions.

Headrest on passenger side popped out when my daughter was getting out of the car. I tried to push it back in but the plastic that clamps around the metal bar was snapped off.

Driver seat headrest deployed out of nowhere while parked at my house and won't close back.

Passenger side headrest deployed while vehicle was parked & unoccupied.

My driver side active headrest deployed while parked.it was fine the day before, came out this morning and it had activated.after inspection, several plastic retaining clips that hold a metal pin inside the headrest were broken.this could have happened while driving and i'm not sure of the consequences if that had happened.clearly this is a defect in manufacturing.look at the dodge journey forums and you'll see many others have this issue.

The headrest popped out and slammed into the back of my head.

The passenger headrest deployed while vehicle was in driveway. Tried to reset headrest and where the pin is mounted is broke. Pin is still in latch assembly and cannot be reset. After googling it was suggested i send a report to you. We have never received a recall notice.

Passenger front seat headrest driving down the road the headrest shot open striking my wife in the back of the head for no apparent reason. I have read other issues other people have experienced same problem. This is dangerous and needs to be addressed before a accident happens and someone gets killed. I think dodge should be recalling these vehicles for these issues.

Active head rest deployed. Car was off.

Drivers headrest exploded forward and hit me in the head while driving in my neighborhood.

Drivers side headrest snapped apart while the car was parked in my driveway.

I was driving and out of no where my drivers side headrest popped, i didn't hit the brakes hard nor was i in any accidents. It pushed my head forward hard, i thought someone had hit me or the car seat got unlatched and hit the seat. I was driving down a two lane road no vehicles around me.

My headrest on my driver seat just busted out while i was driving on i10 and hit me in the back of my head. It hit me so hard i swerved left to right like 3 4 times, i literally had to pull over and get out to see wat that was, i thought something came thru the back of my window, it knocked me dizzy for a few minutes, i had to sit and wait, i thought i was going to go out, i had to close my eyes and debilitate, the most scariest thing ever, my neck and back hurt.*dt

On september 28 2016 2:30 pm riding north on hwy 59 from kingwood we had just passed thru sheppard tx. We had been on cruise at 70 mph since cleveland tx when we heard a loud explosion my head rest had exploded and pushed my head forward fast. My husband was driving and he thought i had been shot by a stray bullet the way my head bolted forward.

As i was driving the head rest deployed on the drivers side and shoved my head forward causing me to lose focus

While adjusting drivers seat headrest deployed. Small plastic pieces broke that hold a bar in place.*dt

I was driving all the sudden i hear this pop sound my headrest busted open the plastic broke inside. I have read looked up that it has happen to a lot of people

The driver's side front seat headrest exploded for no reason. There has been no accident or damage of any kind of the vehicle to cause this issue. The headrest can not be fixed or easily replaced.also, within the last year the drivers side seat belt mechanism has malfunctioned causing the seat belt to not be able to move up and down as intended and not always retracting.

Driver's side headrest deployed while the car was turned off and parked. It struck driver in the back of the head.

My head rest deployed while i was stationary in the drive through line at a fast food restaurant (luckily, it did not hit me in the back of the head, because i had leaned forward to talk to the restaurant worker). After researching how to fix this/the cost of fixing this, i see that this happens to nearly every dodge journey. I feel this should be a recall.

The front driver side headrest deployed without accident. The clips holding the locking pin in place broke unexpectedly while i was driving and the headrest popped with a lot of force hitting me in the back of the head. It seems to be a common problem from what i see on dodge forums.

Passenger headrest just snapped apart while parked in our driveway. No accident and not in motion.

Driver headrest deployed while car was parked. Looked online seems this is a common problem with most dodge vehicles made after 2010.*dtconsumer stated vehicle has not been repaired and had a possible concussion.

The airbag in the drivers side headrest just deployed for no reason.the vehicle was stationary when this happened.

The front passenger headrest snapped apart without any contact.the suv was parked when it happened.

Vehicle was parked in a parking lot. When we returned to the vehicle, the head rest was deployed. The vehicle was not moving, no accident at the time that the head rest was found deployed.

The driver's seat headrest deployed while the car was parked. No collision,it was just touched with a hand.

I got into the vehicle shut the door and the head rest popped open it hit my head so hard my neck hurts from my head being thrown forward the vehicle was not moving it wasn't even started yet it was parked in my driveway i had to take off the headrest so i could drive it.*dtconsumer was told by the dealer the headrest would cost $575 to replace it. In the mean time, consumer placed 2 screws to hold it in place until he could repair it.

The headrests on both front seats popped open. The passenger seat opened when the passenger stretched and touched the back of the headrest. This was during a trip, maybe in 2015. The car was in motion on a highway. We took it to a dealer to reset the headrest and were told it could not be reset and would cost iver $600 to fix it.it is unknown how the driver headrest opened. We attempted to reset it, but it will not stat in the lpcked position. Neither instance was caused by an accident.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. While driving approximately 30 mph, the front driver seat head rest deployed intermittently. The failure recurred on one occasion. The contact sustained whiplash and neck spasms from the head rest that required medical attention. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Takata recall. Brakes locked up trying to avoid a car coming towards me, lost control andairbags deployed in an accident and smoked and burnt my arm and leg

I applied my brakes and they became spongy then shortly after that the brakes almost would not stop. Vehicle is unsafe to drive. The brakes began to bottom out even when applied while in park. There is no loss of brake fluid in master cylinder. Suspect abs system. There was a recall to fix abs failure that the dealer did.

While driving 30 mph, the brake pedal was engaged and became stuck to the floorboard. The contact was able to depress the accelerator pedal and slowly coast the vehicle into the garage. The vehicle was towed to keith's car (2373 highway 43 s, picayune, ms. 39466, (601) 799-1105) where it was diagnosed that the abs hydraulic unit, abs right sensor, abs hydraulic unit, and abs sensor needed to be replaced.

I was driving down the highway going about 48 miles per hourwith my baby in the car and i tried to slow the vehicle down for a yellow light my breaks would not stop it took a hard stomp to come to a complete stop. Also my car will not shift gears it jerks when done and takes off very slowly hardly picking up speed. It also makes a knocking sound and vibration when you drive and after you turn the ignition off

Problem began with brake warning indicator light coming on, seemingly at random. Brakes still seemed to be working normally. Then brakes started failing to catch while driving. Regardless of vehicle speed, 10 mph or at highway speeds, brake pedal would go almost to floor and you would have to pump it several times to get the brake to engage. Took it in to my local mechanic and found that fluid was leaking into driver's side interior, diagnosed a faulty master cylinder and booster. Took car to dealership. They serviced all outstanding recalls. They replaced master cylinder and booster at a cost of $982 to us. Brakes worked fine for three weeks then problem started happening again but this time brake warning light is not illuminated. Just as before, sometimes the brakes work normally, other times the pedal goes to the floor and you have to pump the brake pedal until it 'catches'. Taking it back in to dealer - this is a dangerous problem, not knowing if the car is going to stop or not. Judging by the number of reports from motorists and mechanics on various websites, this is obviously a known issue with 2013 dodge journey vehicles.

I was driving my car through town(35mph) when it just shut off. I didn't have power steering or brakes. No alert lights come on.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard while attempting to stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle's abs system was still failing. The contact spoke with the manufacturer who referred the contact to nhtsa to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I received notice of recall for antilock brake system for my vehicle (vin: [xxx]).i requested service from triangle chrysler de ponce2616 ponce by passponce, pr00728787-812-4025they accepted the vehicle for service, february 19, 2016 in the morning. In the afternoon, they called me to say that the lights that indicated problems with the abs system will not turn off if a sensor is not replaced, which cost is $115. I dont agree and are not satisfied by their explanation. I understand that if the problem of the recall caused the signal advice, it should be repaired. They say that the recall covers the module but not the sensor. I requested a review of the dealers decision to mopar and they never answered. I am including the dealer job service, and a photo of the lights in the vehicle panel. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The brake pedal goes extremely soft after the anti-lock brake system engages or after braking when driving over a bump/pothole.it can still brake, but i have to press the pedal to the floor, and the car slows down rather than stopping. It will stay soft a while (15-20 min), but i found that if i pump them hard a few times (like while at a red light) it then returns to normal. This has happened many times, mostly recently 2/28/2019.i'm afraid this will happen and result in me having an accident or rear-ending someone.

Driving down a state road and my brakes became spongy. In order to stop i would have to slow down and push my brakes pedal to the floor. The first time it happened i pulled over and shut my car off too call someone. As soon as i started my vehicle again the brakes were fine. Today i decided to pull over again and turn the car off. When i turned it back on i pumped the brakes a few times and it was back to normal. This has happened to me three times so far. I have a newborn and cannot risk brake problems. I checked and my vehicle does not have a recall, however, dodge journeys between 2012 and 2015 have recalls. Mine is a 2013 but no recall. Is this the same issue? and if so, why do i not have a recall on mine?.

While under warranty the rear passenger automatic door lock stopped working and it was replaced. After the warranty expired the passenger automatic front door lock stopped working and i paid to have a new one installed. Now the drivers side rear automatic door lock has stopped working. When they stop working they will not lock or unlock using the key fob or the buttons inside the car. Each time this occurs the actuator has to be replaced. Since keeping the doors securely closed during a crash is a major safety issue this needs to be recalled.

I was traveling to work on the city street in my 2013 dodge journey sxt, a person ran the red light and struck me near the gas tank and then struck me a second time in the front drivers side of the vehicle. 2013 dodge journey approximately 100000 mile. Uneven wear on rear tires (excessiveinside wear) due to camber. For some reason the rear wheels on both the passenger and driver side tilt inward causing excessive wear on the inner tire. The vehicle had been recently serviced with an alignment, the rear camber is not adjustable stock and requires aftermarket control arms to allow for adjustment which where installed. The vehicle had been driven less than 1000 mile since the tire replacement and alignment and there is already noticeable wear on the inside of the rear tires. Axle nuts - 2013 dodge journey, felt as though the vehicle was going to buckle under the front end, especially if i had to make a sudden stop.i loud clunk type noise would accompany the jolt feeling.began occurring more often, to include when vehicle would shift.took it into the shop the first time, and the order was written up as 're-torque the axle nuts'.issue continued, but was always described as 'could not duplicate the issue'.after numerous attempts, i was told that they had to replace the axle nuts as it looks as though they had been compromised.i informed them of the previous fix, and was told that you can not re-torque axle nuts, they should have been replaced.the dealership tried to make me pay, as it was something not covered under warranty until i brought up what they had done, so they took the loss.i would think that the axle nuts should have never become loose to begin with, as it seems as if it would be a high risk factor in liability.first occurrence:november 2014second occurrence:august 2016

In december 2015, i receive a letter from fca us llc regarding a safety recall notice.in january 2016, after returning from a trip, immediately i called the dealer where i purchased the car and asked them to schedule a service appointment. The appointment was on january 18, 2016; nevertheless, when i arrived to the dealer, the told me that the parts needed to fix the problem were not available and that they had to make an order.since then, i am calling all the weeks and the answer is that they haven't receive the parts yet.moreover, one of the sellers told me that not to worry since this recall is not important.definitely, i am really disappointed with this situation.not only that my car haven't been fixed but also, all the time i had waist in the dealer and in the phone calls.furthermore, i am moving form san juan, pr to south carolina taking my car not fixed.i will appreciate your involvement in this safety matter.thanks,[xxx] 'information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

1. Driver side headrest popped (airbag) while parked. The brake light in the dash was illuminated2. On the instrument panel the "brake" light illuminates intermittenly

But for years i have drove this vehicle and now it is fixing to cost me up to 3000.00 dollars to have it fix.please help us all out.

Dodge journey 2013 headrest deployment while driving down the road for no reason.

Just entered the freeway to go home from work. I heard an explosion thinking it was a tire.,pulled over and realized my driver side back door window was exploded from the inside out.i was the only one in the car at the time, there is no reason this should have happened. I have only had this car since october 2013.

My rear windshield wiper died on my 2013 dodge journey over a year ago, i was told by dodge that i needed a new motor, so i purchased one on my own, and it didn't work. So i researched this issue to find out that, it was a wiring harness that was cut from rear door opening and closing i found out that there are a lot of people that has the same issue this issue showedexposed wiring.every time witch could. Vehicle was in motion when it all of a sudden jumped and the audio went off as well as the lights to the dash my car shut off and wouldn't turn back on. Believed to be the alternator. The car never had any other signs prior to this. I only was in motion for about 2 miles.

The transmission stick shift does not lock in position once you place the car in drive. I noticed this when i was in a parking lot and was leaving when i accidentally bumbed the shifter. It moved to neutral. My wife said this happened to her another time when she was in heavy traffic in our town. I called the dealership and was told, this was the way dodge made the journey and there was nothing they can do. Thank god we were not traveling at a higher speed.

The 2013 dodge journey's vin number is: 3c4pdcab9dt2241. The national highway traffic safety admistration has stated to me that the recall for the engines's cover recall has passed the 60 day grace period. To ensure satisfactory recall performance and rectification i would like for this vehicle to be brought back because of the recall and a horrendous smell that started in 2014 and continues today. The smell so terrible contributed to coughing, allergies, sneezing and itching from myself and other passengers. The smell as since been diagnosed again and august of 2015. I have not picked up this vehicle from darcars of new carrollton because of the recall and the smell that has yet been fixed. This vehicle has been in and out of the shop at least 17 times, including 4 times for brakes, 4 or more times for a scheeching sound and 3 to 4 times for the smell that has cost molding/mildow. I have contacted the following organizations along with the case number. 1. Dodge case management- case#: 27627943, office of defects investigation:case#: 10775926, mopar vehicle protection plan: case #: 38205462 and mr. Brian e. Frosh office, maryland attorney general's office - case #: mu258042. Henceforth, i have spoken to management at the dealership as well as dodge case management abut my total disability. I have since been placed on total disability in which my orthopedic doctor as stated my stress level and the wear and tear on my knees can not take on any more driving. I have had 4 orthoscopic knee surgeries, sprain ankle and carpal tunnel that make my pain level each day unbearable. It is now that i say to you that i would like for this vehicle to be brought back because of the defects and the recalls that has yet been fixed. The 60 day law applies to this vehicle. I look forward to a speedy approval as to buying back this vehicle. I have documentation to support this claim.

Drivers side headrest deployed for no reason.vehicle was parked in driveway.

2013 dodge journey was leased new, with kumho solus kh16 tires from the factory. Vehicle were inflated with nitrogen and valve stems capped with signifying green caps. Winter ensued and noticed that pressure was decreasing in one of the tires. Unable to locate a nitrogen service, was forced to inflate with air. After about a week, found same tire to still be losing air; due to the continuing sub zero temps, i figured it was normal cold weather pressure loss. Still losing pressure, removed tire and found a leak in the tread, tire was plugged, inflated, leak checked and placed back in service. During the 2014 and 2015 winters, all tires required frequent air service, but never required a pressure reduction. May 2015 the one culprit tire was requiring weekly air service and by july, the tire was routinely found flat in the morning. Took the vehicle to my local tire shop and they discovered that the tire was not leaking fromthe patch, but was however leaking form the inner sidewall where there was a significant bulge and belt separation. They immediately took the tire out of service and inspected the other three, they found bulges in two of the other tires sidewall's and recommended replacing all four at 20,000 miles. They indicated that they had stopped carrying kumho's because of the quality issues. This is a 60,000 mile rated tire with an obvious engineering flaw. It needs to be recalled immediately.

I have had problem with dodge journey not starting. I've spent money on emergency road service jump starts, along with new battery, but problem persists and the service garage can't get it to consistently start as all cars should! winter has come early and i fear being stranded in freezing temperatures. Also big inconvenience. I've driven for over 40 years and feel i bot and paid for a reliable car, but have not gotten what i paid for. Dodge has my money and i have their junk. I hope my little grandchildren are not with me when the car won't start! so far the problem has occurred when i leaving home. I can't seem to get answers from the service garage without pouring more money into it and still no resolution!

Transmission issues in 2016 , 2017 , and 2020 . The vehicle wouldn't move and wouldn't shift to drive in the middle the street . The first time it happen on the highway coming from alabama

Active-restraint head rest issue. There been no impacts to the vehicle but head rest has been deployed.

Nhtsa recall # 15v-431. Recall notice dated july 28,2015 has not been rectified. The manufacturer has indicated that they do not have the parts to make this repair, meanwhile there is another recall notice, 15v-675, that has been issued. The remedy status to both notices is incomplete. Is this not putting the safety of the owner in jeopardy? has the manufacturer not had an ample amount of time to correct at least one of these problems? the first notice dates back to july and it is now december, almost going into the new year. How long is long enough?

Cruise control stopped working.not a fuse problem.loss of engine power when traveling 28 mph, not picking up speed.close drivers door and alarm goes off 3 times. Blue tooth disengages. Drops call or can not hear other party.

Just entered the freeway to go home from work. I heard an explosion thinking it was a tire.,pulled over and realized my driver side back door window was exploded from the inside out.i was the only one in the car at the time, there is no reason this should have happened. I have only had this car since october 2013.

While on vacation and driving in rainy conditions, wipers stopped midway on window.motor, went out. Took to dealership on the road and had no parts,so drove to final destination and it took 4 days to expidite parts to repair car.

Had a 2013 dodge journey from avis car rental while my vehicle was being repaired. My 3 year old son was in the far back seat on the passenger side of the car. After our trip home from the holidays, i saw my son had a 2nd degree burn on his right leg. It had been next to the heater vent. My husband went out and it was super hot.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge journey. The contact stated that while at a stop light with the rear defroster activated, she heard a loud popping sound as the rear windshield started cracking. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
