"takata recall": local dodge dealer, inspected the vehicle and replaced the defective part(s), then told my wife the 'actual steering wheel airbag' wasn't working and diagnosed the issue as the electrical connector. They said they would not repair, replace or fix unless we paid the cost for a new airbag, why isn't the airbag part of the recall? we haven't had any accidents in this vehicle nor anything that would, could damage the airbag.. Since the dealer is stating the problem is electrical, in the safety system, should this be classed as a 'safety' issue and repaired by the dealer..

My spouse was driving on i-20 e between mile marker 51 and 52in sc on 25 july 2014 around 0645 hours and got into a wreck. Prior to the wreck she felt the steering wheel jerk and then she went from the right lane into the guard wires on the left lane then immediately was jolted to the right median. The force of the impact ripped most of the front of the vehicle apart. She was wearing her seatbelt and received seatbelt burns and no airbag deployment. Prior to this incident, on 25 december 2013, around 0700 hours, my spouse was rear ended and the forced was so hard that it lifted her rear end into the vehicle that hit her and crushedthe other vehicle's front end, no airbag deployment, and my granddaughter was also in the vehicle at that time. Now when this happened in december, we chalked it up to, "maybe the vehicle wasn't hit right". I contacted chrysler on july 31 about the incident and sent pictures of both accidents and afterwards they sent an independent inspector from eaa (engineering automotive, the last ai can't remember) then i received a letterdated 21 august 2014 telling me in a nutshell that the onboard computers did not find any faults with the system. Last note, i bought the vehicle new in germany through military sales and starting to believe that there was no airbags in the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that the wire harness underneath the driver's seat was causing the air bag warning indicator to illuminate. The dealer was not contacted. The air bags are suppose to be recalled due to deployment and when i reached out to the dodge house they said no recalls?

Mileage on vehicle 55312 miles. Abs light stays on after starting. Fault found by dealer is the orc module part #68163807ab (aka) air bag control module. Part defect affects abs and air bag deployment. Identified as safety issue currently without a factory recall.

The vehicle suddenly shuts off at highway speeds and has significant trouble restarting. The vehicle has been inspected over 10 times by an asc certified mechanic for this issue and there hasn't been a check engine code present that would cause this issue.

Takata recall airbag light has gone off numerous times and i've reset it numerous times, this problem started about 6 months ago for the airbag light also the climate control power button and the touch screen for the car interior fan will turn on with nobody touching it, i will turn it off and it will turn back on automatically i keep turning it off and it keeps turning on i don't know what's going on with this but it's been going on since i got the car need help finding out what's going on getting tired of these problems.

The airbag light is on and will not go off. I'm not for sure if the airbag will deploy if i was in a accident. My ecm will not read and it was checked by to different scan tools. I am very concern about my safety. The electronic throttle control light comes on and my vehicle will not start. I am scared to drive my vehicle because i don't know what might happen.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. While making a left turn, the contact's vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. 1) cruise control not working and only works when it wants or refuses to turn off this happens sitting still, driving or even if i turn off and on the car for reset it still does not work.the web shows a recall but the dodge dealership said no recall? this has been on going since we purchased the car and has been in the shop numerous times to get repaired and still not repaired. 2) wheels shake while applying the brakes i have replaced the rotters and brakes and it still does it i see a recall on this alsobut dodge says no recall? airbag deployment without cause the internet says recall and the dodge house says no recall?this dodge journey has many problems and should be fixed by the company by recalls.they did not fix the 2010 and they found them selves in a lawsuit, maybe that is what it is going to take on the 2011 also.

Takata recall.

Battery light came on many times over a couple weeks. Then it went into battery saver mode. The radio stopped working, air conditioning, lights and the dash board had every check light come on. It then would not shift and rpms went to 4 and 5 but only would do around 20 mph. Battery thrn died. After charging battery then replacing it with a new battery and the alternater and all wiring checked out just fine. No other problems could be found but still the battery saver mode is on and my journey wont hold a charge. This all happened while i was driving with my childern in town going at a speed of 20-30 mph.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated the vehicle consistently failed to start. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a diagnostic test of the electrical systems was performed with no failure detected. The independent mechanic was able to start the vehicle. The contact stated that an online search result showed a possible cause being related to the vehicle security system. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure was intermittent. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 125,000.

I was involved in a vehicular accident on monday, 10/01/2012 in a 2011 dodge journey.i have had several minor issues with the vehicle starting with the drivers seat failing to operate withthe electric controls, the glove box defect, the covers on the floor bolts especially on the drivers side slip off.

I believe that maybe the location of the battery has caused overheating problems thathave caused the vehicle not to start. The whole car will turn on (ac, lights, radio) except for the engine and it has left myself and my children stranded in extreme weather conditions. The car intermittently turns on and this has been occurring for one year now. It can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours before the car turns back on.

Today 8-24-15 my 2011 dodge journey shut off as i was driving down a road. There was no prior indication the car all of the sudden would not steer , brake or do anything . The electric was still on but the car completely shut off . I had to use all my strength to maneuver it off the road and wait for it to slow down . My child was in the car . This is the second incident this has happened - 1st being in march 2015. Both have been reported to chrysler . Both times i have brought to my local mechanic and it was set up for computerized diagnostic testing and both time threw no error codes. My mechanic believes it is an issue with the win module or something that is making the car ignition faulty and turning to accessory mode . It is unsafe to drive and i have contacted chrysler because they need to stand behind their product . They are unwilling to make it a priority and have not offered a resolution . Just a note , the 2009 and 2010 version of this vehicle have been recalled for same issue . I have set up appt to have it diagnosed by chrysler service center as they have indicated -however , the only time they could fit me in was a full week away . So now i wait because they feel that my car is safe ? and haven't even offered a rental ?!

I bought it on october 2011 at the south of florida , since then i had keeping and drivingthe car at the same location, never tried drive in low temperatures.but, in june 2016 i moved to region where the weather isbetween 20f or -7c during winter.then the tail light on the lift stoppedworking, but it was not burned and no problem with the fusesthe battery was dying frequently.this winterthe rear wiper stopped working too.now it was time to discover what's going on .thus, i found broken wires in the sleeve between body and lift gate, where the wires need be flexible.i can confirm and concluding: the wires installed at the car do not support temperatures bellow 20f or -7c , in these condition the wires crack and broke and causing short-circuit.there are defective wires installed in this make car causing lost of power, short-circuit and letting the car instable.my concern is the others doors may have same defective wires. And it's happenig in any situation, stationary, in motion, on a city street or a highway, turning, sincerely

Speed is horrible i don't no where to start

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle began to lose power and various indicators illuminated. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic who charged the battery and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The manufacturer was called and advised the contact to take the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,600. Updated 06/21/17*lj*as

The uconnect function had also been affecting the ability to turn on the radio and the function controls on the display panel. In addition, the display screen near the radio was black with no visibility of the time and other functions each time the failure occurred. The dealer (hendrick chrysler dodge jeep ram, 1624 montgomery hwy, hoover, al 35216, (205) 545-8074) was notified and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. The vin was not available.

Altinater shorted out fried reset and battery while driving lost all power luckily we were coming out of a parking lot but got locked in the car got one door to unlock

There are many many as in huge multiple complaints of this journey vehicle not starting because keeping a charge. We have had to buy and have dealer install three batteries in the last four years. Found one problem, leaving a cd in the player causes the battery to drain. Cannot find any other. Please help.

While driving down the interstate at approximetely 65mph my dodge journey shut off and then restarted again. Luckily i was on a straight away at the time. While researching i found out that other journey's from 2009-2010 have had the same issue.

The clock keeps loosing time and getting behind. I have taken it back multiple times to the dealer for this problem. Also i have taken it back to the dealer twice because the center console touch screengoes blank, which causes the radio and ac not to work because that is controlled by the touch screen that shorts out. Not to mention that the display on my dash keeps switching over to some unknown language.

Electric:my lights keep going out since purchase under 1yr..,replace fuses 4times in 6mths..my truck locked up with ignition start key remote in car an almost locked my son 6yr. Old in car...had to call aaa for lockout service safety concern and dodge did safety check an stated no concerns...,also stockton nissanpurchased all 4new tires an did brakes an drums under warranty of safety from purchase an both went bad under 5mths of work order history an they refuse to do any checks on this vehicle,..my passengertire split, and right now when i drive there's a loud, squeaky noise with vibration when hitting brakes while driving...stockton dodge wanted to charge me 480$ just to diagnose recommend i take back to purchase dealer(stockton nissan) and they should send it to dodge but lisa, and amanda mathews would not take the vehicle at nissan...stated gary bishop says do not take this vehicle for any reason...i don't understand why if i pay for extended warranty coverage over $3000 to stockton nissan and they were the ones who supposedly did the work that's unsatisfactory an cause defects an safety issues an concerns...i also called nissan corp/lithia and was told about lithia/nissan&first extended warranty coverage policies in middle of a big change so it limited my vehicle being repaired over 130???miles of home range an i'm a partial paraplegic..also stockton sold me this vehicle an extended warranty knowing my disability an safety concerns for myself an 5young kids.. This is unacceptable an unsafe for any dealership with purchase of a vehicle and in complaint of safety concerns repeatedly an for the customer to be prolonged stating they can trade it back but wanna do it as another purchase with more $$ down ,credit check again, an same process as new purchase..stockton nissan with held information viable from the extended warranty purchase contract due to changes..

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. While driving 65 mph, the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the check engine light illuminated due to a low battery. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. In addition, while driving 25 mph, there where a squeaking noise coming from the brakes. When the vehicle was in reverse, it made a knocking/kicking noise and failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time where it was diagnosed that the transmission and a faulty cylinder head failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

My husband was driving the car when all of a sudden the radio, all the lights inside, the dashboard, and everything just stopped but the car was still running.he had to pull over, turn off the engine and then restart it for things to turn back on.a few days later i was driving and all the lights inside the car turned on simultaneously for no reason.this happened a few times during the short drive.hasn't happened since but mechanic asked me to call dodge to check on recall.no recall when i called dodge but others have noticed similar incidents with their dodge journeys.

This is the first incident 2 months after i purchased this brand new truck. The car had no power at all. It would not start. I had to have it towed from my driveway. About 6 months later the car would not go into gear the head or brake lights would not work. I took it back to the dealership where i purchased it for the fourth time and it is has been in the service center about a month and they have no answers. I have have called dodge numerous times and can't get any help from anyone. This vehicle is not safe i have been pulled over by police numerous times for no lights and stranded because the car would not go into gear.

My vehicle has been in the shop twice in 2 weeks. It started with a transmission issue. I was driving to work last monday when the car would not shift into gear. The engine continued to idle, but it would not go into the next gear. After having it towed to carmax where it was purchased. They sent it to the transmission shop who later confirmed my torque convertor was faulty. So it was replaced. My truck was in the shop from 9/21-9/25. I was finally able to pick it up on monday 9/28. Well, i picked it up and it was driving fine. Then all of a sudden yesterday 9/30, i go outside on my lunch break and it will not start at all. The lights, clock, radio, seats...etc all work fine. But, the vehicle will not start. No clicking noises or anything. It is not trying to turn over at all. I took it back to the transmission shop who last worked on it and they can not figure out what is wrong. They say the diagnostic machine is not picking up on anything! i have to wait until the morning to call the dodge dealership to see if they can now take a look at it. This is very frustrating!!!! i will update again once i know what the problem is.

The battery has been replaced twice within the last 8 months and 2 years prior to that. The day prior to latest episode, the car was driven for over 200 miles and there was no notation ofproblems onthat day.the next day the car was parked in the driveway.it had been 18 hours since car was driven.the lights, radio, and power worked, but brake would not depress and dash stated key fob could not be detected.within 5 minutes trying to start car, all power and lights quit working.a neighbor came to jump start the car but it would not hold.

Pressure sensors saying there's an issue with your tire pressure and you have binding in your drive line

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that the rear locking mechanism failed to unlock. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the technician could not find the failure to unlock the mechanism. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The vin was not available.updated 04/07/16*lj

I was driving on theroad during midnight, my battery sensor turned on 5 minutes later, i had multiple sensors turn on simultaneously.the abs sensor, airbag, anti -traction as soon as i realized what was going on. I was merging to the emergency lane. I tried to push on the gas pedal and was not even able to accelerate due to the lack of power. I was worried but i was able to make it safely to the emergency lane. I tried to start the vehicle but couldn't the car wouldn't crank. So i had to tow the car to my mechanics and my mechanic told me it was due to the alternator. Lack of power = system will not allow you torun the vehicle. I would like something done about this ifit was not for the emergency lane me and my family could have been killed on the highway.

The vehicle suddenly shuts off at highway speeds and has significant trouble restarting. The vehicle has been inspected over 10 times by an asc certified mechanic for this issue and there hasn't been a check engine code present that would cause this issue.

I was driving on the freeway to work and the engine shut off. I lost power steering, power braking, ability to accelerate or really drive the car at all. All i could do was try to safely navigate an uncontrollable vehicle to the shoulder and hope i wasn't hit in the process. The check engine light came on, in addition to other warning lights (i think they were the tire pressure light, the vehicle traction control light and another indicator that looks like a lightning bolt). The car eventually restarted, but had problems driving and would start to cut out when it idled. We took it back to dodge, they ran diagnostics but couldn't find any issues. After a lot of pressure, they replaced the main computer chip in the system. This was after replacing another minor part that didn't change the issue. This seemed to work for a few months, but then the problem began happening again. This time the engine was even more sluggish and the whole car would shake when you tried to accelerate. There was no power, even though the engine was running. Then, it would cut out again and the same warning lights came on. We are taking it back to dodge again today to see what they can do.

Several times over the past 2 years the touch screen computer system has shut down and rebooted while driving, twice while driving on residential streets at 25 mph and at least once on the highway. Additionally the cruise control has only intermittently worked. I have taken it to two different dealers more than five times to have it checked, every time they update the software, and change either the cruise control module or the clock spring. Nothing has fixed this problem. Dealer has stated they will contact chrysler but no information is passed back to me - if they even called, probably said it to get me to leave.

My cars battery light keeps coming on and then it starts going over the 4000 rpm point and not going more than 20mph and then dies...i've replaced alternator and battery both 4 times in 4 months and it keeps happening.

For the sixth time this vehicle has been towed in for repair to no avail ...they have no idea what is wrong with it. I am afraid to drive this vehicle because everything will go off [lights horn, radio. And there is no way to shut it down. I'm so scared to put my grand daughters in it because it might shut down while were driving and i wouldn't be able to get them out of it .i don't find this dodge reliable or dependable ...it scares the [xxx] out of us.the dealers will only charge the battery and send it back to me and there has been a few where they did nothing at all to it. When i have the routine oil change on it halfway thru the oil change the light comes on and informs us to change the oil. We've asked for them to please fix this problem butto date they haven't. What we did is trust a dealership for a reliable vehicle and all we got was amassive bill to pay that wont perform.

The car feels likes it's pulling and sometimes it won't accelerate.

It has been about a month since my 2011 dodge journey had begun to shut off without warning while i was driving, and with nyc traffic in the city it became dangerous for me to drive. I took it to my own mechanic who said it could only be resolved by the dealership since it may be an electrical issue with the car's computer that only the service shop at the dealership has the tools to fix. I am not driving faster than 30 mph when it happens, i'm unable to brake and the car shuts off automatically. I have begun to use the emergency brake, but if there is a car that is too close, in front or behind me, i can get into an accident. Thankfully, i have always been by the shoulder on the highway and am able to pull over.

Mil illuminates indicating cam shaft position senor and multiple other codesat start up or highway speeds. This also cuts off the stability control and puts the car in ,imp mode. The car will also stall without warning at highway speeds creating an unsafe condition. Dealership currently evaluating issue for cam shaft phaser failure.this occurs at least once a week however the most recent incidence on 6/14/2019 resulted in the car stalling while turning resulting in loss of power steering and braking. The code always resets after a driving cycle is completed but comes back in a day or so. It is my understanding that early 3.6 l engines for 2011 had an issue with cam shaft phaser but no recall has been issued for my vehicle.

Recurring safety issue with no concrete resolution. While driving at 55mph on a parkway vehicle engine stalled.i could not accelerate and the brakes and steering wheel locked.radio, power windows, etc. All worked and i couldn't shut off the vehicle via the push button start/stop. When i pressed it to try and turn it off it made a noise like it was trying to start but couldn't.while waiting for the tow truck all of the check engine lights started flashing. Had it towed to the dealership, they replaced the alternator ($$) thoughdiagnostics revealed no problems and they were able to start the car fine once it got there. One week later i was on the highway and the exact same thing happened.it was so scary.i could barely get to the shoulder of the road because the steering had locked. My speed was declining rapidly with cars rushing past at 65+ mph.once on the shoulder, even though my speed had declined to 0, i was on a slight hill so i just kept rolling bc i had no ability to break.journey was towed to dealership again and, as before, nothing comes up as the source of the problem via the diagnostics test.the one thing that diagnostics did reveal was that it was detecting a key fob in the car with a low battery-both of the keys are at home with me with no car to drive. Additionalproblems and repair costs incurred have included malfunction of all steering wheel control buttons and horn, tire sensors needing to be replaced (they all showed 0 pressure when the tires were fine), and key fob detection. I have seen many complaints of this scary engine stall experience with no clear resolution as to why it is happening.it seems the mechanics and star techs are stumped.my car only has 75k miles on it and i am terrified to drive it especially with my child in the car.please investigate this issue before someone gets injured.

Randomly wont start vehicle goes into some type of anti theft mode told bad tipm by 3 different dealers. And told to remove battery to reset the system. This is only a temporary fix. This happens at least twice a week

Vehicle has repeatedly had problems starting after driving for any length of time.it will start cold, no problem.battery and starter all checked and tested as good.it is believed to be due to a bad ground connection, but not 100% sure.my wife and children have been stranded several times due to this issue.many times, the vehicle will have to be turned off for at least 30 minutes (sometimes up to 2 hours) before it will start.

2011 dodge journey when the weather is cool the fobs will no unlock the doors.cwthe consumer also stated he had difficulty starting the vehicle.

The car was fine then the battery light came on for the car and the car shut off on me before i made it home had to be towed. Put a new battery went to work on the way gone the car shut off on me again. Now it has to be towed to the shop.

My sound system is not working.once the vehicle reached 200,848 miles it stopped working, then the next day the led hatch light she'd working?i came out to get in the vehicle and turned it on it didn't work?

Abs module failure dash lights on with abs and tractiom control not working some times it feels like the vehicle is draggimg the brakes many customers on forums of the same vehicle complaint about ithttp://m.carcomplaints.com/dodge/journey/2011/brakes/service_brakes.shtml

Traveling northbound on 91st ave. Light changed to yellow. I applied brakes and a horrible grinding sound occured. The steering wheel shook and i was alarmed. I called the dealership requesting inspection. Was told it was normal abs action. I disagreed. They insisted all is fine. Second occurence, had to brake to avoid collision and applied brake, again violent shaking to steering wheel. Upon regular maintenance with dealer they again said it was normal. I have never felt more unsafe. This still occurs today 3/2015. Has become progressivly worse over time. Unknown what components are involved... Selected possible parts requiring further investigation. Dealer insists there are no recalls in place for any part of this model year. I have asked them to check nhtsa website. They will not.

Mileage on vehicle 55312 miles. Abs light stays on after starting. Fault found by dealer is the orc module part #68163807ab (aka) air bag control module. Part defect affects abs and air bag deployment. Identified as safety issue currently without a factory recall.

We purchased this vehicle used, back in february. Over the last several months the vehicle had sporadically shut off while driving. The engine completely stops while moving. Some times it takes multiple attempts to turn it back on after shutting down and other times it will turn back on. We have already had the car looked at and had some recall work done to it, but this keeps happening even so. It happened again today while going 40 mph, 2 seconds before the car stalled the check engine light came on and then the car stopped while driving. Thankfully the person behind me was not following too close because they almost hit me when the car stopped moving. I was driving on a city street with moderate traffic around me, so i am lucky that no one hit me when the car came to a complete stop. I was able to put the car in park and put my hazards on, while waiting to restart the car. This isn't the first time this has happened and i am sure this won't be the last.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. While the vehicle was parked, there was an abnormal noise coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notifiedof the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000.

Since i purchased this vehicle in september of 2011 i've had problems from the radio not working, power outlets not working, bad cylinder heads, have random loss of acceleration, bad gas tank and fuel pump. According to the technician at the dealer the journey has a problem with the cylinder going bed within the first year. The fuel pump had to be replaced twice. The first time they replaced it i broke down in the middle of the freeway 3 days later with my family in the vehicle. The brakes and steering wheel locked up and the vehicle shutoff. I was a sitting duck waiting to be hit be oncoming vehicles. I had the vehicle towed back to the dealer and 3 days later i'm told that the vehicle is fixed but i need to replace the brakes because they were at 0%. First of all i just had to replace the tires 2 months prior and my brakes were fine now i have no brakes at all. Secondly they said they road tested the vehicle the first time they should have fixed the issue but yet they didn't tell me i needed new brakes.i couldn't fuel my vehicle to full. It generally stop around 3/4. They have replaced everything there is to replace and the car still doesn't work.after the second time the fuel pump was replaced i was told my vehicle was fixed i picked it up and it was worse than when i drop it off. The vehicle was making loud noises, vibrating, and i still couldn't tell how much gas was in the tank. On top of all of that they tried to charge me 20 dollars for gas and when i refused to pay they took the gas out the vehicle and left it on the line next to the e. I had enough gas to make it to the gas station.needless to say i'm still without a vehicle.

Both catalyst converts went out at the same time and failed my ga emissions test. There is a permanent code. I only had this suv a year and have already rebuilt the transmission, along with caliber issues. I was told that my vin didn't match the u67 catalyst emission recall that included my vehicle description, trim, make and model. The recall should have expanded to 3.6 liters as well, considering the problem is an exact match. I expect dodge will rectify this emissions problem, considering that ga residents will find this suv useless in such a strict emission state.

While the car is in motion, being driven, it stalls at least once per week for no apparent reason!

My car has only 91000 miles and there is a click from the transmission and a weird slowing noise have no clue why done all the maintenance one it

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that the vehicle and house caught fire. A police and a fire report were filed. The fire department extinguished the fire. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was destroyed. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v431000 (engine, engine cooling); however the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact was traveling 55 to 60 mph when the engine stalled. The check engine warning light illuminated after the failure. The vehicle restarted after the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times. The manufacturer was also contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 16,000 and the current mileage was 17,500.

After removing the cartridge style oil filter from the assembly, a spring and broken plastic pieces flew out of the assembly. This occurred around 50,000 miles. Vehicle was covered under certified used car warranty provided by dodge. Appears to be a common problem and the part has since been updated on new vehicles.

While driving this vehicle, sometimes at highway speeds, the engine will stall. While all interior accessories stay energized, the engine does not attempt to restart. This has happened dozens of times and the vehicle has been to the dealership for this issue three different times. This issue did not start occurring until the touchscreen stopped working and the dash display started showing in german along with the vehicle not starting. I had it towed into the dealer where they had it for two weeks. They replaced the telematics gateway control module, several relays, and the battery. After this repair is when the above issue started happening. This is outright dangerous and has left my wife (her vehicle) stranded now three separate times. I understand the dealer is trying to recreated the issue when i take it to them, but they have not been able to get the vehicle to do it when they have it in their possession. I honestly believe that they are only driving the vehicle around the block and calling it good. This stalling has happened on city streets and at highway speeds. I just want my wife and child to be safe and i don't feel that is the case here. I will be looking to trade vehicle in if this issue cannot be figured out. I am also angry that i am paying on a piece of junk that spends more time in the shop than being driven.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and was able to be restarted. This was a recurring failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The contact was unable to remember what the technician stated was the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.

I was driving my kids to school when the engine just shut off. The power steering did not work and then the car just started back up on its own. It has happened 3 times since then. I bought a new battery and had a new alternator installed but it did not fix the problem.

While drivingon the highwaythe car just shut offhas done this multiple timeswith no check engine lights at all.

My 2011 dodge journeyon the driver side heat blows hot on the passage side it blows code. This happen when driving or when it's started to warm up the passage side it blows cold even when the car has been driven from 15 minutes.

Reverse lights are inop because of a bad backup switch which is located on or in the transmission.

My sound system is not working.once the vehicle reached 200,848 miles it stopped working, then the next day the led hatch light she'd working?i came out to get in the vehicle and turned it on it didn't work?

My husband was driving the car when all of a sudden the radio, all the lights inside, the dashboard, and everything just stopped but the car was still running.he had to pull over, turn off the engine and then restart it for things to turn back on.a few days later i was driving and all the lights inside the car turned on simultaneously for no reason.this happened a few times during the short drive.hasn't happened since but mechanic asked me to call dodge to check on recall.no recall when i called dodge but others have noticed similar incidents with their dodge journeys.

Since the day i bought this vehicle, 2013, i have had numerous dead batteries when i went out to start it. As well as flicking dash lights (bright then dim and back again, completely random) while driving during the day, evening, night, raining, and snowing. The ford dealership that which i bought it from, and the local chrysler dealership have had my vehicle more in the last two years, then i have. Both ford & chrysler dealerships have found multiple issues, but have not fixed one of my main complaints, the dash lights flickering. Between the two businesses they have re-built the transmission, changed the throttle body, wiring harness, radio, radiator, motor train control module, instrument panel, and put a new battery in it many times, including the day i bought it. A mechanic at ford had told me that there was issues with the journey before i bought it. I requested a copy of all the paperwork that the ford dealership had on my vehicle, and to my surprise the previous owner traded/sold (?) my vehicle to ford the day before i bought it because he/she was going through the same issues with it the battery being dead.

Takata recall.

I have had nothing but problems with my journey. Before 2500 rotors had to be replaced around 30k miles transmission rebuilt now at 53k miles the transmission is being rebuilt again! this last time it occurred with my children in the car on the way to daycare. My car would not get into gear as i was driving it feel out of gear and would not accelerate with my foot on the gas. Not to mention my car would not even go into park! when my car was in park the car would drift backwards. Keep in mind this was happening on a busy highway with 2 young children!! i am so disappointed. For having a brand new car this has done nothing but stress me out. Before we purchased our journey we purchased a brand new caliber and had it for 2 years and never had any issue! i am wondering what can be done.

My cars battery light keeps coming on and then it starts going over the 4000 rpm point and not going more than 20mph and then dies...i've replaced alternator and battery both 4 times in 4 months and it keeps happening.

Need to replace the transmission cooler lines because of leakage and not being able to drive.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the esc and throttle control warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle began to shake continuously and upon engaging the accelerator pedal there was no response. The warning indicators remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was maneuver to the side of the road where the engine was turned off and restated. The vehicle resumed with the warning indicators illuminated. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer twice. The first occurrence, the computer software was updated. The most recent failure the vehicle had not been repaired due to the part not being available. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000...updated 09/24/12 the consumer stated after she took her vehicle to the dealer the first time in may 2012, the dealership replaced the pcm in order to fix the problem. However, the same problem happened again in september 2012. In total, the problem happened four different times. All of the same indicator lights illuminated, then the vehicle started jerking, and she could no longer accelerate. She had to coast to the side of the road, turned off the vehicle, then turned it back on again; where she was able to drive home.she took the vehicle to the dealer, where they explained to her, they didn't have a solution to the problem she was experiencing.

1. Two and half year old toddler fell inside the car in the 2nd row isle. 2. Inside seat rails are not covered as the outside ones that are closer to the passenger doors. The potential of happening again is very high. It's consequences suffered for this negligence is the toddler needed to be taken to the emergency room, to be x-rayedand stitched up for a laceration on the knee. Test are still pending if laceration had any harm on muscles or tendons of the knee or leg. 3. I visited a dodge dealer parts and service department today tuesday august 2nd, 2011 and customer service representative verified that there is no cover that comes with the car nor that is available to fix the problem for the inside rails of the 2nd row seat.

While driving at highway speeds the car shimmied and came to an abrupt stop without ever applying the brakes. Felt brakes lock and heard tires skid shortly after a loud thud under the car steering wheel felt as though the brakes had been slammed to avoid a crash with no warning at all. This has happened twice in a months time with no engine lights or warnings.

The vehicle completely shut down while driving down ford road in dearborn mi.the steering would not move.the engine turned off.the brakes locked up.the car would not start to move out of oncoming traffic.it was towed to firstone complete autocare and serviced.received the vehicle back on saturday the 4th of august.again drove the vehicle and on a bridge on ecorse rd in taylor mi. The vehicle did the exact thing.it was towed back to firestone.firestone returned the vehicle on august 6th and sent it to dealership for repair.firestone said they saw no problem.couldn't understand the problem. Both instances of stalling i had my 7 year old. Both instances we were nearly rear ended multiple times. Both times the vehicle shuts down with no steering, no breaks, and wont restart.it was a death trap.firstone can verify my pick up locations both times. Used goch and sons towing through firestone on 8/5. Used united towing in dearborn on 8/3. Firestone also has vehicle records on file.

I bought my journey in 08/2014 with 37,000. The dealership replaced the front rotors and brakes. Less than 30,000 miles later (today) i was told that i need to replace my brakes and rotors because they are metal against metal and grinding when i stop.

There has been a problem with the brakes in this vehicle since we bought it almost 3 years ago, although the dealership has said they cannot find it. At speeds over 40mph, when the brakes are applied the steering wheel vibrates until the vehicle is completely stopped. Now that the vibration is really bad, i began an investigation online to see if other journey owners had the same experience with vibration. I have discovered there are many with the problem, that chrysler has been made aware of this problem for years, but i don't know what is being done to remedy the problem for those of us who own the vehicles. This is an expensive repair, that the dealership chose to ignore when brought to their attention, and the vehicle was still under warranty.

My husband and myself purchased our 2011 dodge journey rt 2 yrs ago and was sold on how great this truck was. Since then we have changed the rotors and brakes 6 times. We had our tires changed due to shaking while braking but the problem still existed. So the tires were not the problem. Recently 2 days ago my husband was driiving with my children in the truck and could not stop the truck due to the brakes. He pushed the brakes literally all the way to the floor and hardly stopped. My truck is now in a tow yard and luckily my husband and kids are safe. There is definite problem with these trucks and something need to be done before someone is seriously hurt. We r now without a vehicle due to this problem which i have called dodge and complained about and was told it's a basic problem with the brakes and there is no official recall on them. Someone should be responsible for this problem!

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle, he began to engage the brakes and the steering wheel began to shake violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and stated that the calipers were too small and it would heat up the rotors. As a result, the calipers and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 2000.

Since shortly after taking delivery of this 2011 dodge journey crew, i have had issues with the brakes. I had it in a few times because the brakes seemed to have a pulsation when applied. 1st time on 11/21/11 with only 947mi on the car the tech reported "front rotors had high spots". They machined what were basically new rotors as a repair. Car continued to have minor pulsation feeling when braking but thought that it may just be something we had to live with as car seemed to brake ok and just feeling the sensation seemed minor.again had the car in for brake pulsation this time with 9487mi on it. Once again they found they had to re-surface front rotors and said nothing about rear brakes....this was on 06/13/12.continued to "feel" the brakes but again thought this was just something i would have to live with until it got bad again.in early 2013 we occasionally would smell a burning type smell and the first couple time we were driving and smelled it when we stopped at an intersection....so we thought it might be something else either on another car or in an area we were passing. Upon pulling into the garage recently i smelled the same odor and noticed the rear wheel on the driver side smoking/steaming from the build-up of heat. It was so hot i was concerned about leaving it inside the garage so i parked it outside and watched it for awhile to be sure it cooled.so 06/03/13 w/24011 miles i got to my mech and they said rear brakes shot, completely rusted out. Had to have them repair ($285.37...dealer likely would have charged me 3x that amt) as it was unsafe to drive and i chose not to have it towed back to dealer. I kept photo's they took as well as old parts in the hope that someone with finally hold dodge/chrysler accountable for these years worth of flawed brakes and i might get reimbursed!

When driving this vehicle at highway speeds, when you have to push the brakes there was a pretty severe vibration.the vibration at times was almost bad enough to make you lose control depending on speed and how hard you have to apply the brakes.when i asked the dealership about this on more than one occasion they told me that this was a known problem with 2009 - 2011 model years but there was no recall.then at 37,000 miles i had to take my car in for brake noise and they told me that all of my brakes were bad and that the rotors were worn unevenly and needed replaced.i said there is no way that a 37,000 mile car should have that bad of brakes and i reminded them of the previous complaints.it did no good and i had to pay $700.if you read online there are many complaints like mine and with the issue being something as important as brakes, this should be taken seriously.

The abs module went bad and the part is discontinued. The car was stationary.

We were on our way to church and the steering wheel started shaking at about 55 mph so we slowed down and it stopped.as we continued on to church the wheel started shaking again and we drove a little faster and then slower.we made it to church and as we parked the car we noticed a burning smell.when i got out of the passenger side of the car there were metal plates popping out of the wheel.i noticed the cap on the wheel was melted.the metal plates were too hot to pick up and the wheel was extremely hot.we did some research on the internet and found complaints on lemonlaw.com.there are also 12 reported complaints on carcomplaints.com.if dodge knows there is a problem like this; why isn't there a recall?i just had the oil changed at the dodge dealership and they did an all point check up.the only thing they recommended was a tune-up.no problem was found with thebrakes.the mechanic told me that the caliper got so hot it damaged the ceramic brake pads and rotor.he said the caliper could have locked up and we could have gotten in accident.we are fortunate that did not happen however it certainly could have.the repairs were over $400.i should not have this expense on this new of a vehicle.this is the first dodge i have ever owned and loved this vehicle until now.now i am not sure i will ever own another one.very disappointed to say the least.

Bought dodge journey 2011 r/t in feb if this year(2013). Truck currently has 29,000 miles on and now steering wheel shakes rapidly when braking. Very scary when on parkway driving 50-65 miles per hour when you have 2 young children in the vehicle. Got a carfax on vehicle and found out that it has had rotors and brakes replaced or repaired at least 3 times starting at 2,400 miles. I think that it totally uncalled for and it sounds really unsafe for me and my children. To have to replace them 4 times before it even hits 30,000 miles. I think there is a problem here. So not only do i have to pay for them to be replaced time and again but to put my family at risk. The manufacturer should def be responsible and liable for this problem.

Brakes replaced at 12,000 mileswe bought the car at 15,000 milesbrakes shaking the car at 25,000 miles and replaced at 27,000brakes started to shake at 40,000 miles and i called the dealership and they said the only file that the brakes were replaced were at the 12,000 mile point which means they kept the 27,000 miles off the book.brakes have been shaking for some time now and we are replacing again at 50,000.

Takata recall.

The vehicle was purchased new approximately 1 year ago and now, after only 13,385 miles, the front brake rotors needed to be replaced due to warping.

My 2011 dodge journey steering wheel shakes quite hard when braking and pulls to the right. Took car to dealer and was told that the brake rotors were warped. The car only has 14,000 miles and dealers said brakes were like new. This would appear to be premature to me as well as a safety issue. This is not covered by warranty.

Issues with brakes on 2011 dodge journey. Recently brakes started squeaking and sounded like metal grinding coming from the front of the vehicle. Just recently took the vehicle to dodge dealership asking that they look over the brakes, i was informed that they are no longer covered by warranty and will be at my expense if anything needs to be replaced. Got a call a short time later and they said that upon visual inspection they could not find any problems with the brakes.i was told that there could have been a rock or something stuck in the braking system.problem still persists although it is intermittent and usually only happens at slower speeds we still question the safety of the vehicle and the proper functionality of the braking system.vehicle currently has just over 24000 miles problem started somewhere around 20000 miles.

I purchased my vehicle new in april 2011. Since i've had my vehicle i've been having issues with the braking system. I took the vehicle to my local dodge dealership for a metal grinding noise i've been having at low speed braking and the steering wheel shakes violently when i apply the brakes at speeds usually above 45 mph or higher. After the dealership had a day to test my vehicle, they related they did not notice any problems with the vehicle braking system. Since that visit i've had new tires installed on my vehicle and im still experincing the steering wheel shaking problem when applying the brakes, the metal grinding noise with the brakes is speradic but almost always happens when it rains. It appears to me that the braking system in this vehicle is lacking and is a safety issue that dodge needs to be concerned about. I hope nhtsa can address this issue with dodge to have the braking issues with this vehicle reviewed and corrected to all current and future owners. Dodge only covers their brakes system parts for the first 12,000 miles of their vehicles, my recommendation is that they replace and defective parts immediatley and triple the mileage in warranty for their braking systems.

My steering wheel was shaking when i brake, this is due to sub par rotors.there are many others with this same problem, and chrysler recalled the 2010 journey's for the same issue, but refuse to take responsibility for the 2011's because, according to their customer care rep, not enough people have complained yet.my vehicle had under 31,000 miles when this needed to be fixed.rotors should and do last much longer then 3 years and 31,000 miles.i have just had the rotors repaired at my own expense, $300.00 for the front rotors.chrysler should reimburse me for this expense.

We bought out dodge journey new with 26 miles on it in nov. 2011. I would say at around 5,000 miles we started hearing a loud squealing from the front brakes and a little bit of vibration in the steering wheel. So on our next service date on 4/3/12 with 6,746 miles on it we asked them to check the brakes out. They told us maybe a rock or something but they did not see anything physically wrong with the brakes. So we drove it with the brakes squealing getting worse for a few months. We took a road trip and went to hit the brakes and there was almost no brake and a violent shaking to the wheel. The very next day on 7/18/12 we took it to the dealer again and again we got the same answer. Knowing how the brakes did not work and was putting my family in danger i told them there was something wrong with the brakes to fix them. About an hour later i got a phone call stating that they were going to be replacing the front brakes and rotors and that i was just inside my 12,000 mile warranty with 11582 miles on our journey. Since they have replaced the brakes and rotors we are starting to get noises on and off again and this time we heard a loud popping sound from the brakes. We took it to the dealer again and again nothing wrong with the brakes. Because of what happened last time i took it to an outside mechanic to visually look at the brakes and confirmed the brakes were once again with less than 3000 miles on them digging into the rotors, and the rotors are blue from getting to hot which can cause premature brake wear and failure. We have had it to two different dealers trying to get the problem fixed before my family or someone else gets seriously hurt. We keep getting the same answer we can not duplicate the noise and we physically see nothing wrong.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that the driver was traveling 50 mph when the brakes were depressed and the steering wheel started to shake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 23,000 and the current mileage was 28,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact was driving 65 mph and when the brake pedal was depressed, there was an excessive vibration within the steering wheel. The failure recurred when driving at highway speeds. The vehicle was taken an authorized dealer where the front and rear brakes and rotors were replaced three times. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 1,127.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. While driving approximately 70 mph, the abs warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wheel bearing and brakes were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that water entered the wiring harness and the abs module, headlamps, and dash wiring harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 15v675000 (service brakes), but the vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

I purchased at new 2011 dodge journey crew in february 2011, with 5 miles.during the course of a few months, i noticed that the drive was a little bumpy.i assumed that the uneven ride was due to low pressure in the tires or balancing issues. I reported this issue to the dealer in july 2011.the vehicle was evaluated with the following outcome:rotors and brake pads needed to replaced, balance tires and re-aligned tire pressure.the dealer ordered new rotors/pads and i returned 2 weeks later for installation.a few months later, i started experiencing the same uneven ride and complained to the dealer.this complaint resulted in my tires being replaced (mechanic stated i had 2 bad tires).the mechanic also stated that the old tires had some wearing on them (most likely due to unbalance tires).my complaints to the dealership started to increase and resulted in a visit every other month to have my tires balanced.needless to say, my rotors and pads had to be replaced a second time in march 2012 (24k miles). I worked through chrysler case management on this replacement and i had to pay a $100 deductible for the repair (not sure why, but needed my car to make a living).my vehicle was back in the shop in april 2012 for balancing issues. The dealer forced balanced my vehicle (this was the second forced balancing on my vehicle).on april 20, 2012, i had another visit to the dealer just to be told that they replaced my front left and right axles, in an effort to fix my balancing issues.needless to say, this has not resolved my uneven driving issues and i am back at the case management stage. Throughout my entire year and a half with this vehicle, several dealerships have told me the dodge journey has been known to have this type of issues.

21,000 miles and just replaced the rear brakes and front rotors on my vehicle.called dealership to find out warranty information and it is only 12,000 miles/12 months.it cost me $300.00 to have them replaced and am not happy about it.in all my years of leasing my vehicle, i have never had to replace brakes on my vehicles at 21,000.

Horrible parts the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced after only 2 years. I have asked many people who own the same car about it and they all have the same problem.

Break calipers lock up when driving. They have been replaced and continue to do this

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that the front suspension failed. The front end shook and vibrated out of control. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the front end tie rod, brakes, calipers, and rotors were prematurely worn. The reason for the failures was unknown. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 61,653.

I have had problems with my brakes, they were replaced 3 times now and i only have 17,200 miles on the car. I have all serves records please help me thank you

Shaking in car and steering wheel when i apply the breaks.this is suppose to be a recall but dodge house says no recalls? i replaced the rotters and brakes and it still does it at any speed above 30 mph.has been on going since we purchased the vehicle.

Abs module failure dash lights on with abs and tractiom control not working some times it feels like the vehicle is draggimg the brakes many customers on forums of the same vehicle complaint about ithttp://m.carcomplaints.com/dodge/journey/2011/brakes/service_brakes.shtml

We have had our brakes/calipers/rotors/brake lines checked and/or replaced "3 times" over the past 4 months.each time the mechanic was not comfortable with me driving the car in that condition - so he kept the car each time until it was fixed.back in july - the brakes sounded horrible - grinding and squealing - and very very hot. In july, our mechanic said - brake pads were gone - rotors shot, caliper shot, so we paid over $400 to have all of that repaired.so, new rotors, brakes and calipers on the rear of this car.....we thought the problem was fixed (although we are still puzzled at why the brakes/rotors/calipers were so bad).well, 2 months later (september) the problem was back and worse this time.the rear driver side brake was insanely hot, you could hear it ticking with heat and could feel the heat from a foot or two away - the squealing sound was back and even worse. That we have had the same problem (brakes/rotors/calipers shot) 3 times in a four month period.again in november, needed new brakes, calipers and it even ruined the brake line with the heat!!!the caliper "broke", the brake pads were worn down again - in only 2 months!!! our mechanic researched the problem and said chrysler put the wrong brake system on the dodge journeys (years 2009-2013 i believe) and corrected it in 2014.the current brake system is not adequate for the weight of the vehicle.he said there is a class action lawsuit right now - but no recalls as of yet.he said it would be $400 for a new break system.our mechanic also said auto zone will not longer keep replacing our brake pads for free (they did this 3 times as we thought it was faulty brake pads/calipers at first) as there is nothing wrong with their product - the problem is with the brake system in the dodge journey.please help!how do we get chrysler to replace this brake system to make it safe to drive?

After starting the vehicle, abs, brake, and traction contol light illuminate. Occasionally light does not illuminate. Vehicle appears to drive and stop normally, but driving without abs and traction contol decreases stopping performance and capabilities. Certified mechanic diagnosed problem indicating water damage consistant with the current recall r61 / nhtsa 15v-675 for the 2012-2015 models.

I replaced my caliber and brakes less then a year ago. Since then i have been replacing my brakes every 3 months i have to replace my brakes and rotors. I keep smelling metal burning plus the brakes light is staying on.

Excessive brake wear causing warped rotors and pad replacement every several thousand miles. Began shortly after taking delivery of this vehicle new and has continued since. Vehicle now has 80k miles on it....probably had in for brake work service 10 times costing thousands.

Metal scraping sound when driving below 20mph and stops when brakes are pushed. Sounds very similar to many online complaints i've read. Recalls issued for similar models with the same year, but not mine. Very frustrating.

I was getting noise from the brakes and a slight vibration at highway speeds, 50 mph or higher. Per dealer diagnosis front and rear rotors needed to be turned, but the brake pads are fine, they turned the rotors.about april or may i began to feel the slight vibration again when driving at speeds above 50 mph.i forgot to tell the dealership in april when i had my oil changed.i waited until the next oil change but by this time i had 13,000+ miles on it.i was advised my front rotors needed replacing and that i was out of the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty and i would have to pay a $50 deductible to have pads and rotors replaced, although again the pads were not worn.i paid reluctantly, but i needed my vehicle working properly as i was planning to take a "journey" in it. Now i have about 17,000 miles and the pulsation and noise is back.the diagnosis is the rear rotors now need replacing but again the pad wear is ok. The dealer and chrysler llc are now telling me again i am out of warranty and have to pay a $50 deductible to replace the rear rotors and pads because if you replace rotors you should also replace pads. I have noticed many other complaints for dodge journey owners from 2009-present about brakes and rotors.i strongly believe this is a safety issue and the rotors at least need to be recalled.i have an 11 year old child and i am now expecting another.do not want to drive a vehicle where i constantly have to replace rotors every 5000 miles on the front and 15,000 on the rear.this is not normal for any vehicle new or used that i have owned, including other sport utility vehicles of this size.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that the brakes failed to work properly and the brake pedal sank to the floor. The contact mentioned that the stopping distance was extended and the brake light and traction control light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the technician determined that nothing was wrong with the brakes. The vehicle had not been diagnosed by the dealer. The failure mileage was 41,000. ..updated 05-26-15updated 10/4/2017

My car has 132k miles and i'm replacing the brakes on the front for 8th time and the back for the 3rd time.can't seem to get more than 15-20k miles out of a set of pads and rotors.last two times i needed service the brake calipers had seized shredding the fairly new rotors which were so hot that i feared the car would catch on fire.

My journey is less than 2 years old with 18,500 miles.rotors are already warped (car shakes violently upon braking at all speeds).dodge states that brakes are only covered under their warranty up to 12,000 miles.internet sites are filled with complaints about similar problems in 2009-2010 journeys and dodge ended up extending warrantees for those years as a result.dodge claims to have addressed brake issues with the 2011 redesign but clearly the problem remains.they need to stand behind their product, and do the right thing by extending the brake warranty on 2011's as well.

Since i have purchased the vehicle 4 years ago, i have had the brakes replaced 4 times due to premature ware. The calipers have also been replaced due to rear brakes not releasing and pads wearing and heating. One mechanic showed me where they were stressed from the high heat of this issue.now my rear drivers side brake pad is gone completely unlike passenger sdie, though replaced at the same time including calipers. I believe it isn't releasing again

I live and bought the car in guadalajara, mexico. But since it is essentially the same as those sold in the usa, and other countries i hope my experience with the car problem i am describing below, helps other owners.only a few months after we bought a brand new 2011 dodge journeynoticed a strong steering wheel vibrationwhen brakingfrom any speed. Car stopped ok, but annoying and felt unsafe. Took to dealer, they found a warped left front rotor and prematurely worn front pads, had to fix on my expense. After only 5000 or so more miles same failure again, this time took carto a specialized brakes shop, they again found warped rotor (replaced new), worn pads, etc. Again after another 6k miles, same failure. Took the car to the same brake shop.they were so puzzled by the repeating failure and low mileage in between that this time they did a very thorough disassembly and inspection of the brakes system. This time though, we successfully found the root cause of the problem: warped and worn pins where the caliperssit andslide to grip the pads when braking. This, under some conditions apparently caused caliper to "stick" (due to warping and noticeable indentation from excessive wear), causingsome permanentbraking on rotors withobvious overheating, rotor wear, warping and excessive (and notoriously uneven) wear of brake pads. So, the pins were replaced along with the pads and rotor, i am happy to saythat at least in my car this completely solved the problem for good, this last time i had the brakes servicedthe pads lastedover 14k miles prior to replacement and no vibration was felt again, (we live on a hilly area and use a lot of braking downhill, so 14k miles pad life is acceptable and comparable to other cars we owned). Hope this helpsthe hundreds of owners experiencing this same problem as seen in many forums over the internet.

At approximately 18000 miles, and less than 9 months old, my 2011 dodge journey, began to shake violently (steering wheel) when i slowed down. At first, it began at approx 50 miles an hour, and was noticeable going down small hills. It has progressively become worse; violently shaking anywhere from 40-60 miles, with the steering wheel shaking so hard it becomes difficult to manage. I took it to the dealer on 3/26, and was informed the brakes and roters warrranty was only to 12000 miles. I have five children and i am on the road a lot, and it is scary for the car to shake so violently. I purchased this car brand new, and to have it fail so early is very upsetting. I understand there were issues with the 2009-2010 journeys as well, but was assured by the sales team at dodge that it had been addressed and resolved and would not be an issue with the 2011 models.

The car has been shaking for a few months now, worse when braking. Twice now, we have had to stop abruptly and the front brakes did not work correctly. Once it did cause a minor accident. There is a loud grinding sound from the front wheel area and poor stopping and the steering wheel shakes. It has been to the dealer four times now for the same complaints. They replaced the rear rotors for some reason. Now they are replacing the front rotors. The dealer claimed there have been no reports of braking/steering problems for this year/model so they do not know what to do. The problem is much worse at interstate speeds of 60+.the dealer service center also advised us that after 12000 miles, the rotors/brakes/etc will not be covered by warranty although it has been a noticeable issue since within a few months of purchase.

Have takenvehicle to dealer 4 times for grinding sound when braking. Have been told it could not be replicated. Told rotor and pads are good. Looking at previous complaints, realized dealer is playing a game ( after 12000miles) rotors not covered. I presently have 11000 miles. Great business practiceby dodge.

At approximately 5000 miles, and less than 5 months old, my 2011 dodge journey, began to shake violently (steering wheel) when i slowed down. At first, it began at approx 52 miles an hour, and was noticeable going down small hills. It has progressively become worse; violently shaking anywhere from 30-60 miles, with the steering wheel shaking so hard it becomes difficult to manage. I first noticed it early in september. I took it to the dealer on 9/15, who confirmed that it was defective rotors. Was told the rotors would be ordered and i would be called promptly. I emailed the service manager on 9/19, and he advised it, along with a defective dash board that was bubbling, would be handled by his corporate contact, and i would receive a call. I have not. On 10/4, i received a general email from the salesman who sold me the car, checking to see how i liked the car. I explained to him the situation. On 10/5, i received an email from his manager, who said they were aware of the situation and would be contacting me soon. That was a week ago, and no contact. I have been driving in what i believe to be an extremely dangerous car. I have two children and have to drive my car to work and to care for an ill husband and mother. I am on the road a lot, and it is scary for the car to shake so violently. I believe the rotor issues obviously are damaging the brakes, but also the tires. I bought this car brand new, and to have it fail so early is very upsetting, as well as scary. I understand there were issues with the 2009-2010 journeys as well, but was assured by the sales team at dodge that it had been addressed and resolved and would not be an issue with the 2011 models. Please help.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the abs, brake and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to community motors chrysler dodge jeep ram (500 westin oaks dr, hammond, la 70403, (985) 345-0401) and diagnosed that the abs module needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part wass no longer being manufactured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 67,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. While driving various speeds, the vehicle shook uncontrollably. The dealer stated that the rotors and brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

Metal scraping sound when driving below 20mph and stops when brakes are pushed. Sounds very similar to many online complaints i've read. Recalls issued for similar models with the same year, but not mine. Very frustrating.

When i start my journey, the power steering goes out and there is a huge puddle of fluid under my car. I've looked on line and the exact same problem is happening and being recalled, yet my car hasn't been. I don't understand that if the leaking is a safety problem, why my car is not included. The leaking occurs in extreme cold weather, which is what wisconsin has been having. I haven't been able to use my car for a month, or more, unless i fill it up with power steering fluid every time! my journey has the block heater that is part of the problem of the leaking, i guess. Either way, the recall should include all journeys with this same exact problem! we have used all kinds of clamps to hold the hose on, but it still happens. This isn't just a one date that this has happened, its been 17 times in the last two months, if not more.

My wife was driving our 2011 dodge journey to work on city streets the steering suddenly became very stiff. Hard to turn.looking at the power steering fluid reservoir it was empty and fluid still dripping out from under the car near the passenger side door. After towing the car to dealership and a $1000 repair bill problem fixed. I was told the power steering hose had ruptured and had to replace the pump as it had run dry.dodge says recall s08 does not apply as this model does not have a block heater. (what would that have to do with the power steering?) i noticed later on the same city street where i had traveled a large rainbow oil slick. May have been where the line ruptured.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that while driving about 35 mph, the contact saw smoke emitting from the hood without warning. The contact pulled to the side and added some coolant but the failure recurred after driving 5 more minutes. The vehicle lost power and the contact saw flames from the engine. The fire momentarily extinguished itself. The steering wheel then could not turn and the vehicle shut down. The contact mentioned that the alternator and wiring were damaged sue to the failure. There was no report filed and there were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to the contact's resident. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the failure was known but the vin was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. While driving 70 mph, the steering wheel failed to turn left or right without warning. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (harry's tire service; 1604 20th ave se, minot, nd 58701; (701) 838-1823) where it was diagnosed that the power steering return hoses and the steering oil cooler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the same failure recurred after a year. While driving 30 mph, the steering wheel failed to turn left or right without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (minot automotive center; 3615 s broadway st, minot, nd 58701; (701) 852-0151) where it was determined that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v273000 (steering); therefore, the contact would had to pay for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 103,000. ..updated 08/22/17

On 1/30/2019 at 10:15 pm i started my parked 2011 dodge journey to warm it up for work. It immediately blew the power steering system because it was frigid outside. The power steering cooler and return line hose assembly was replaced with parts from the dealer ordered by the business that made the repairs. Total for parts and labor was $814.22. This report is being filed in regards to campaign 16v273000. I feel this is identical to what happened and i am seeking a full refund for my repairs needed.

While vehicle was parked (stationary) vehicle was started, heard a pop, put car in reverse and realized there was no power steering.started to smell something burning so placed vehicle back in park & turned it off.looked under vehicle and saw large puddle of power steering fluid.the power steering line burst thereby disabling the power steering.this appears to be an on going problem with numerous journey power steering lines.

The car feels likes it's pulling and sometimes it won't accelerate.

Power steering hose ruptured while vehicle was parked and running in very cold temp

My steering wheel locked up while driving twice.i have taken it to the mechanic to get it fixed prior to driving any further.the first time i was turning right, the 2nd time i was coming up to a stop light.i was able to turn my car off then back on and it worked.terrifying experience

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that when driving 30 mph or lower, the vehicle would veer out of lane when atetmpting to accelerate. The failure was experience only when the acceleration was increased. The dealer test drove the vehicle and was able to duplicate the failure but advised the contact that the vehicle was performing normally.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000 and the current mileage was 14,000.

Noticed strange sound from driver side front wheel area.took vehicle into dealership to identify issue.dealer claims power steering return line had a leak and that this line wrapped around the engine compartment and would cost approx $750.00 to repair, there are numerous complaints about cold weather areas having multiple complaints about this line failing at the factory crimped connection on the line.the failure causing the line to rupture or crack varying on leak rate.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that the power steering ability was lost during cold temperatures. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to harry brown's family automotive dealer (1747 grant st, faribault, mn 55021) where it was diagnosed that the power steering failed. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 74,327. The vin was not provided.

The rear passenger doors can not be easily unlocked by the rear passengers. The driver or the front passenger has to push the unlock button to unlock the rear doors. The door knob ( the lock pin that goes up and down into the door) is located behind you in the rear seats because of the long doors and is very difficult to grasp and pull up to unlock the door. If there was ever a crash and the driver or front passenger was unable to hit the unlock button it would leave the back passengers trapped. This is a very poor design and a major safety hazard. Had i noticed this prior to leasing the car i would have chosen another car. The dealer states it is designed that way so that small children can not open the doors, but isn't that what the child lock feature is for. This car is an accident waiting to happen.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. While driving approximately 20 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the drivetrain and suspension needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

My sound system is not working.once the vehicle reached 200,848 miles it stopped working, then the next day the led hatch light she'd working?i came out to get in the vehicle and turned it on it didn't work?

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. After having new tires installed on the vehicle, the contact stated that the check tire pressure warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the tire pressure monitoring system sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

I have had an ongoing issue, over the past almost three years with not having heat on the passenger and rear of my vehicle.the system has been flushed multiple times, thermostat replaced, actuator doors checked and replaced, and my heater core replaced twice already.the interventions fix the problem for a short period and they it is back to only cool air.the coolant pressure is fine and the car does not overheat.there is no change when driving or in park.

Not to long after i bought my journey 2011, i can hear a loud whine when i turn my car on. It keeps whining until i'm driving away. Is it doing damage? since i bought my journey, i have been very pleased with it and would, even with the problems of the whining and the huge power steering fluid lose, that for some reason my specific car is not included in the recall, remain a huge fan.

Pressure sensors saying there's an issue with your tire pressure and you have binding in your drive line

My cars battery light keeps coming on and then it starts going over the 4000 rpm point and not going more than 20mph and then dies...i've replaced alternator and battery both 4 times in 4 months and it keeps happening.

The vehicle suddenly shuts off at highway speeds and has significant trouble restarting. The vehicle has been inspected over 10 times by an asc certified mechanic for this issue and there hasn't been a check engine code present that would cause this issue.

The car feels likes it's pulling and sometimes it won't accelerate.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge journey. The contact stated that when coming to a stop, the vehicle would surge forward abnormally until the brakes were depressed a second time. The dealer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was performing as intended. The manufacturer was notified and stated they would give in a return call within a day. The failure mileage was 7,800.

My wife was driving the car, when suddenly the gas pedal broke off at the base.the car lost all acceleration.luckily, no one was behind her and she was able to glide of the rode.

I was driving on the highway at 60mph, i went to pass a car and pressed the accelerator pedal and the plastic pedal broke off just after the pivot point. I had to cross 3 lanes of traffic that were traveling at highway speeds (65-75), all while my speed was rapidly decreasing, to get to the shoulder of the road.

My car issue:i can't drive past 40 mph. When speed increases, the rpm and car temperature increases.i took my car in for an oil change and asked the service tech to test drive my car because it's stalling while driving from a day ago.he stated that there maybe an internal issue covered by powertrain warranty.the next available appointment to look at my car was after february 17, 2015.i dropped my car off for a diagnostic test to learn that the tipm melted and that he has never seen that happen before.after learning the cost of the repair, we did research on the part to learn that it should be under recall but chrysler has been fighting consumers on fixing the problem.my boyfriend look in the fuse box to learn that the tipm did not melt but a $3.50 relay part did melt.so he drove to three different locations looking for this part.two of the three locations called the dealership that i went to for an oil change and diagnostic test were very rude and hung up on 3 phone calls (2 hang up calls for o'reilly's and 1 hang up call for a neighboring dealership).

We have owned this vehicle for 11 months and have been driving with the back seats down because the rear visibility is so restricted by the rear seat head rests. We first noticed problems with the blind spots to the right and left front roughly at 45 degrees not where you usually have oncoming traffic,in a mall it can be a real problem. We feel this problem should be brought to the attention of the general public. We do not plan on keeping it much longer. Thank you.

Visibility obstruction:the heater has slowly been losing heat and is only blowing cold air.visibility is severely obstructed due to the defrost system not working properly.the defrost system is blowing cold air not clearing the windshield and seriously obstructing visibility.
