My air bag light comes on and stay on......

As i was accelerating on a highway entrance ramp, my driver's side curtain airbags deployed (from the front of the car and all the way to the hatch in the back of the car). I pulled over onto the shoulder of the road and turned the car off. I turned my car to battery mode to roll down the windows to release the powder and smell and another airbag deployed (i believe it was the driver's seat, but am not certain).

12-26 2014 i opened up a case number [xxx] no one answered any questions for me. 03-05-2015 i opened up another case number [xxx]06-20-2014 i received a important safety recall notice which states.... The problem is... Upon stating your vehicle the frequency operated button ignition key (fobik), may not fully seat in the "on" position. If not fully seated, under operating conditions (for example bumpy roads) the fobik could inadvertently move to the "accessory" mode. This could cause unintended engine shut off and the passive restraint systems, including the airbags to shut off. This could increase the risk of a crash under certain driving conditions and increase the risk of occupant injury during a crash. What we must do to ensure your safety... Once you receive your follow up mail in the simply contact chrysler which i did. Until this repair is completed the vehicle can be driven. However, as a precaution all drivers are advised to remove all all objects from the fobik (such as key chains, additional keys). And ensure that the fobik is securely and correctly aligned in the "on" position and not aligned between the "on" and "accessory" position before the driving the vehicle. Please help me get my car fixed. I am very upset it has took over a year to resolve. I bought my bran new car off the showroom floor and they cannot fix it for me to keep me and my family safe on the roadways. I have to pay a lot of money every year keeping my upkeep on the car to make and keep it safe (because its the law)! but yet chrysler can keep pumping out new vehiclesoff their production lines but cant seem to take production off that line to build these components that we need for our vehicles! this is ridiculous!!! i will never buy another chrysler product again, nor will my family!!! please help! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Recieved a petter in mail about a recall for my car. There was an error in the power supply unit that could either make the airbag deploy randomly wothout warning or prevent it from opening at all in the event of an accident called dealership in reference to recall, was told they did not have the part nessesary and did not know when they would have the part and to call back next week called back next week and was told to leave a messsage that would be returned, it never was. Went in person and was told they had no record of me calling and they still did not have the part.

Had the car a little over a month and on the way home from work a very loud noise.we had it towed to dealer who stated transfer case has a leak. I had tofight with the warranty company to cover this replacement.now the electric system is causing my fan, brake lights, and chargersto go on and off..

Multiple electrical issues: dash lights go out when turning wipers on/off. Dash lights reappear after on/off action complete.key would not start car, but would lock/unlock doors.wipers move upwards about 2-3 inches when using unlock button on key.

Loses power will idle and also driving. Does not always start- requires car to be shifted in and out of park before starting. Dash lights dim when wipes are engaged or changes as well as when turn signal used. Recall no able to be done due to "parts not coming in" at dealership. Rapid tire wear and allignment issues.spare tire is a temp doughnut and can not be used on awd cars,

Safety recall on chrysler.upon starting your vehicle the frequency operated button ignition key (fobik), may not fully seat in the "on" position.*mwthe consumer was informed the part was not available.

Bought this car brand new off show room floor in feb of 2009 and only owner....first 6 months of owning it started with serpentine belt, heat shield, gear box, ac coolant, electrical , transmission (4 times) brakes and rotors (5 times), battery issues and not to mention tire replacement all before 50k miles. With this being said you would think i have built a new car by now. Yes l even purchased extended warranty but still pay out of pocket cause guess what "everything is not covered" its a lemon and i am scared for me and my daughter to drive it!!! every month its something new that i have to fix and replace, can no longer afford it. I was proud to be able to purchase a new car with all the bells and whistles i wanted, but heck i cant afford it. The maintenance cost has wiped out any savings i tried to have. I will have to try and trade it in, however i know i am not going to get what i still owe and its sad i will still be paying for this piece of crap. Really sad when you contact chrysler to make them aware of all the issues and problems they don't even apologize for producing such poor work. Guess it will take many more families to go bankrupt or people getting hurt for them to do something about this car!!

The car will not start on a random basis.all lights, radio, dash working properly but the car just "clicks" and refuses to crank over.we were able to get the car to the shop where they did a software update and bought a new battery.exactly one year later, same problems.we've had it into the shop on two occasions in the last two weeks and both times were told nothing was wrong (although they did put a new battery in).next day car would not start again .now it is stuck out of town and is being towed to a different dealership for repair.

2009 dodge journey.consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to complete wireless ignition node module recall notice.

My teenage driver was on the highway and had complete loss of power, she managed to pull to side of highway. The vehicle started right up and we merged back on the highway only to have a complete loss of power again. We turned the car off and waited 10 minutes. The car started and we made it home. Two days later while on a rural road the vehicle shut off again. All wires and connections checked out tight. Waiting to have it towed as don't want to risk an accident.

When the vehicle is in motion, the horn blows like you are holding the horrn down. This has happened several times n traffic on the highway. It also has happened when the vehicle was stationary in the middle of the night. While we were sleeping.we thought someone was stealing it. At least 4 times it went off. Took the vehicle to the dealership in oct. 2017 they took out the horn fuses. Because it blowed all night and it killed the battery. They called it the ghost horn. So i'm driving around now in this vehicle without a horn.

I buy the vehicle and checking the vehicle's history, i see that the car has 2 open recalls to repair problems in the car, try to communicate by email with the company but say they do not have the parts. I want to repair my car before an accident ...

Transfer case is going out, and vehicle will stall and not start again for a while.vehicle would not even backup, had to call a toll truck.

Electrical systems don't work all the time such as radio. Burning smell. Seat belt stopped working last year had to replace entire unit. Pto went out 8 months after 6 months purchase.

Have been having issues with my car either taking several attempts to start or not even start at all. Happens periodically. I have taken it to the dealership several times for this issue and they were not able to pin point what was causing the problem. They did replace several things, included the starter. Still having the same issue!

Horn honks randomly by itself. Parked, middle of the night, or driving this is dangerous distracting for me and other drivers. Scary startles me and freaks my neighbors out! draining my battery too. Also a clicking sound when nothing on. I googled it and was shocked to find hundreds of others complaints. I called crysler they said to make a complaint here and if enough complaints a recall will be issued. I sure hope no one gets hurt or dies waiting for the manufacturer to correct the electrical problem they clearly know about but will not address unless they absolutely have to. What a shame consumers pay good money for such poor service. I knew i should have stayed with a gmc!

Car was bought 02/2016.starting having start and electrical problems in march 2016contacted dealership in may 2016had key replaced and electrical replacedin july car was still having problems.opened a case with dodge, and have been told there is nothing that can be done until the dealership can duplicate the problemthe car starts intermittently, radio will turn off while driving and turn on at full volumethe only happens if you drive the car.i will not happen if it sits in a parking log being stopped and started every day.car fax will show that the keys and electrical have now been replaced twice.

7/10/14car shut off, couldn't steer or use brakes. Etc light came on. Read manual and followed the directions.7/11/2014vehicle behavior repeated. Towed to dodge dealer to be repaired. Next day same thing happened.towed to dodge dealer again...etc replaced.8/3/2014happened all over again. Car at dodge dealership.stranded with young kids in car is scary and frustrating enough but to have this happen three times in less than 30 days? thank god for the extended warranty at least.

Tires wore down at an alarming rate at just under 100 miles and brake pads also. Doesn't start at some times..just a click...turns off for no reason...when in park it acts like it wants to move forward ...cannot keep an alignment

Takata recall - was driving down the road at 40 mph.car began to idle high, pulled over to shoulder and turned off the car.opened the hood, smelled burning electrical smell.closed the hood, tried to start the car.no start, lights on but would not start.tried to put it in neutral, still no start.vehicle was towed 15miles to my apartment complex.

A lot of electrical issues with my jorney, no injuries so far but now am afraid to drive my car very far distances.my electric door locks do not always work and they clatter we have replaced 3 door actuators and the passenger door is now acting up again and one of the windows don't work anymore, i try to start my car and it just clicks and nothing happens, i usually sit there a mintue and try again still nothing so i wiggle the gear shifter and it starts! my drive train started leaking and when we called the dealer they said that it no longer was covered because 5 years start when you take possession of the carso we where a couple months past so we had to pay 450.00 to have the seals replaced.we took the car in for the required 75,000 mile check and they said everything was fine. We have 81,000 miles all hwy miles on our journey and it is due for tires this will be our 4th set. All the paint is peeling off the mirrors and front bumper. I have leather seats and the driver seat is splitting. We have taken very good care of our journey, serviced it regularly and was so happy to have our bank loan paid off but now with all the recall for ignition and the other problems we've had i now want to get rid of it, i need to contact the dealer for the xurrent ignition recall but the closest dealer i'd great falls mt and we have had bad service from them. I will not buy another dodge

Recall nhtsa 14v-373dealer told me they do not have part to do the repair.i contacted dodge/chrysler - answer, we do not have the part and do not know when the part becomes available.the dodge / mopar website for the recall status of the car states "incomplete but repair parts are available".

I just bought this car in july 2014 used with 56,000 miles on it. And i already had it in the shop just in the beginning of august because there was a knocking noise coming from the engine. It sounded like a normal "morning knock" but it was always there and when you drove it sounded worse. I have not started my car all day today, then when i went to go somewhere i tried to start my car and it just gave me tick noises it would not turn over. I know the battery wasn't dead because the car door was open and there was the ding noises and the lights were all on in the car when the doors were open. Now i have gotten the vehicle to turn over, but with a 1 year old i am terrified to drive my almost new car! i need something fixed.

The car is acting possessed. The pedometers and all the lights on the dashboard are blinking on and off the windows are rolling up and down by itself. The car cuts off by itself which drivingand wheni put it in park the gear shift won't move out of park and the car won't cut on. I took it to the dealership and they told me that the tipm module needs to be replaced and the wire harness.but didnt tell me that its recalls out here 4 the same problem my car is having.

I am trying to get enforcement on an already released recall. This i my daughters vehicle, recalled due to faulty key and ignition. Hers has the issue and when she tried to get the remedy she was informed they can not fix the problem due to lack of parts and that they have no intentions of producing the parts needed. Also they would fix a 2010 but the 2009 is a bigger issue and not easily solved. Her recall is l25/nhtsa 14v-373.

I was driving 2009 dodge journey something smelled like it was burning by the time i could safely pull the vehicle over the front end and the engine had locked up there was smoke coming in through vents under the hood and out the exhaust.called 911 for electrical harness andengine compartment fire. All appropriate people responded and put the fire out safely. The failure obviously occurred only once and still waiting on the insurance company to decide if the vehicle is totaled or not. The car had been into the shop for engine tick upon start and told by dodge that it was normal because that is how the sending unit for the oil was built.called my vin number in for recalls as i did not buy it brand new was told by dodge that the wiring harness and transaxle did not apply to my vehicle. Still waiting on insurance as i said but its kind of curious that this specific failure would sound very much like the recall notices.

My cars has been acting up lately.randomly it will not turn on when i turn the key in the ignition even though all the lights, radio, and ac turns on.all's i hear is a click and then it does nothing.sometime it works fine, but other times i have to try 8-10 times before it will turn over.i am not sure if i will always be so lucky or if one of these times i will be stranded.i took the car in for regular maintenance and they checked the battery and it was okay.also about a month ago i was driving down the road and the car started automatically locking and unlocking doors.something is wrong with the electrical.

12/7/15 took 2009 journey with 58575 miles to dodge dealership because the windshield wipers were coming on by themselves. Dealership replaced 2 windshield wiper switches costing $552.44. Drove vehicle out of shop 12/8/15 got 1/4 mile away and wipers turned on by themselves in addition the left signal turned on. Drove back to dodge picked up later and was advised they updated tipm software - no charge because i called dodge complaints. 2/26/16 problems stated again currently have appointment to bring back to dodge dealership 3/7/16 will update

The contact owns a 2009 dodge journey. The contact stated that he attempted to start the vehicle, but it would not start. The contact stated that he tried to start it several times unsuccessfully. The vehicle successfully started approximately one day later. An authorized dealer was notified and stated that the failure may be due to the starter. The contact was advised to bring the vehicle in for a diagnosis. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 34,000. Sm.

My complaint consists of the tires, starter, and pressure sensors on my 2009 dodge journey. First, the cheapest tires my dealer can find for my vehicle are priced at $225/tire. Thus, a $1000.00 cost for tire replacement. This would be reasonable if the vehicle was a luxury vehicle i.e.: audi, bmw, cadillac, mercedes, etc... However, it is a dodge. I have had to replace my dodge's tires every winter since purchase. Therefore, these performance tires are only lasting approximately 20,000/miles a piece. Affordable, is why i purchased dodge. I am not receiving this, not even in the basic maintenance of tires. Next, my starter had to be replaced recently. I was told that many dodge journey starters are "going." however, with no recall on the part, i ended up paying a $100.00 towards a deductible that is part of my warranty. Finally, i had to replace two tire sensors as well on my vehicle this year. Again, no recall on the part. Therefore, a $100.00 deductible was required. I am disappointed that despite my warranty i am paying deductibles and despite other numerous journeys having the same problems the parts aren't being recalled. I am forced to spend $1000.00 on tires every 20,000 miles on top of my actual monthly car payment >$500.00. The above expenses should definitely not be required on a brand new car.

I was driving my 2009 dodge journey today, 9/10/11 and all of a sudden it started to lose power. It began to shake as if it were trembling underneath the vehicle. The journey was in drive and started to go backwards. I pressed the accelerator with my foot and it went straight to the floor. The gear shift was in drive and the car continued to go backwards with the gear shift in drive. I was very frantic and then began to press the brake pedal with my foot. The journey would not stop. The brake pedal went straight to the floor as the car continued to go backwards. I quickly pressed the emergency brake with my left foot and the car stopped suddenly and shut off while the gear was still in drive. I put the gear back in the park position and tried to start the car but it would not crank. I made a report to dodge by calling (800) 992-1992 on sunday september 11, 2011. I received a reference case number: 21334169. I received a call from dodgefrom (800) 763-8433 on monday september 12, 2011 from case managers[xxx](ext.[xxx]) and[xxx](ext.[xxx]). I returned their calls but never had the opportunity to speak with them. They were not available. I left multiple messages for them both and spoke with various people at the call center; neither case manager never returned my calls and i was informed from different representatives at the call center that both[xxx]and [xxx] declined any service to my vehicle due to the high mileage and it being out of warranty. The electrical problem is a manufactured defect with the 2009 journey and has been recognized nationwide by other vehicle owners. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Car won't start at random intervals.will not make any noise, just a click.started roughly a year ago, after a few minutes it would start again.now i wait more than a half hour. Never sure if it will start.this car is stranding me.it has a list of problems such as bad brakes that have been fixed multiple times and other electrical issues.

My vehicle will turn off as i am driving and sometimes the car will not start, it will click and only after me switching my gear into neutral and starting the car again will it start. I have literally seen and heard a click the key switching to the "accessory" position, then the engine shuts off.

We purchased this vehicle used at the end of 2013. We had two occurrences fairly spaced apart where the vehicle would not turn itself off after turning the ignition to off and removing the key. With key in hand, standing outside the vehicle, the engine was still running. We took it to a dodge dealership near our home, they hooked it up to try every code and every recall that could possibly have been an answer. They found no answer. We also had the battery replaced about that time. Now here we are september of 2014. Less than a year later, and the problem has become an every day occurrence. The car will not start without a jump, it will not hold its charge either. We have had our starter and alternator checked, which are both fine. Now after jumping the car, we start heading to our destination. The car will not accelerate. It reaches about 25mph and then the rpms continue to climb into the 4s, 5s, 6s, and 7s if i try to go any faster, it just will not shift. Now after patiently driving to our destination at 25mph, the car does not shut off after turning the key off. We must open our hood and pull a fuse to stop our engine. It has gotten so bad to where i cannot transport my 3 year old daughter to the babysitter or make it to either of my jobs. I need an answer and no dealership seems to have one. Please help!

My dodge journey will not always start it will just click then after several attempts it will start. My drivers side door the power window does not work it just stopped working.now my gear shift does not want to shift into gear, start the car up the cas traction light is on and the gear will be stuck. So i have to turn the car off several times then i am able to move the gear shift. It is very frustrating to get in your car and you cannot either start it or it just do not move .

My 2009 dodge journey vehicle is possessed as it sometimes leaves us stranded after running out on a short errand, so after stopping and parking the vehicle for short period of time then it will not start.we've tried to electrically jump the battery but this has no effect. It seems if you give it some time, perhaps to cool off like 30 minutes the car will start again.we've replaced the battery three (3) times in the past 18 months but the problem continues. The electrical power windows will not open but then they do. The fobix key's keyless entry does not work sometimes, the parking lights are found on when everything is off. The wireless ignition node and it's matching fobix keys have been replaced three time to no avail.

Low tire indicator as soon as i started my car. Then the change oil indicator flashed. I had just had an oil change and all tires have accurate pressure. Sometimes my car won't start when i turn the key but the lights and radio will work. The shifter panel gets hot sometimes. The wipers will move up a couple of inches when i use my unlock button on my key. My dash lights will fade and then come back to the brightness i have it set at just randomly while the vehicle is started, driving or sitting still. Sounds like an electrical issue. Lots of other complaints about the same things occurring, yet no recalls and things are not covered under warranty.

2009 dodge journey has a recall ( l25) on the win module detent ring , this vehicle was sold to me by a dealership in 2012 with nothing showing on the car fax of this recall. The recall cause the key to slip from the ignition and completely shutting the car down while moving. The key inadvertently moves and the engine shut down , depowering the air bags, power steering and power braking. When initially calling in the complaint, chrysler/ dodge explained that there is no fix or part yet available. I further explained as a single mother this was a huge safety hazard , because in multiple occasions i have been on a freeway or street and almost rolled into another car , rolling down backwards on a freeway ramp unable to brake or telephone pole. Dodge/chrysler stated i would just have to wait or take it to a dealership for a temporary fix.( this same temporary fix is noted in the dodge dealer system not to put in the newer year parts into an oldermodel car ) after callingand going up to their recommended dealerships for dodge the service department states they have their hands tied because there is still no part available for the year of my car. They also stated i would have to pay out of pocket almost 700 dollars for a temp fix using a newer model car that may or may not fix it . I am completely terrified to drive my car that i have to continue to pay on and dodge/chrysler is completely brushing off the issue. God forbid if we are harmed or eventually in an accident waiting 3 years later for a repair for this vehicle part.

There is a recall on the care preventing it from starting or the car can suddenly stop and crash. I need the parts, and chrysler has no idea when the parts will be received. I asked for a rental in the meantime as to stop driving my car because i do not want to continue to get stranded with myself and children. They cannot give me a time frame and i need to get to work and drive safely.updated 12/17/14.

I had to have transmission replaced which i filed a complaint already and since thatthe esp , all wheel drive, skidding and another light keeps coming on and off and my brakes only work half the time and now my driver window wont go up or down or mirror work and today my car wont start. My husband checked fuses they are good but have no power to over half of them. I called tate dodge they want another 1102.00 just for me to but the tipm part and do the work myself. I cant break a fuse box and do not feel this is fair and unless i replace then my car dont work now.

Multiple electrical systems malfunction from interior lights air conditioner blend door headlight indicator switch and window switch. Car has had several calipers fail within owning the used car in less then 2 years. Loss of power while driving. Fuel indicator malfunctions. All electrical issues started at the same time. Radio and interior screen malfunction. I am scared to drive this car. The key for will set off alarm when hitting unlock.

Had been intermittently seeing white smoke come from under the hood or front undercarriage of vehicle.no cause visible to the eye was found.on date in question, engine area caught fire while driving at a low rate of speed.vehicle towed to collision shop where it was determined that transfer case/ pua unit was "bad" and cracked.no collision or external damage caused it.part simply cracked for an unknown reason according to chrysler collision/body shop.damage not covered by auto insurance because it was spontaneous.front end of vehicle pulls, ignition stalls, electrical problems, brakes (pads, rotors & often calipers) & tires must be replaced every 4-6 months.upon regular maintenance inspection there is no sign of problems with brakes & tires but full replacement is usually required within several weeks of inspection.

Engine sputters then dies while idle.

For a while now, randomly my journey will get stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear after taking off. I will have to stop, put it in park, shut off the engine and restart it for it to reset itself. The steering wheel shakes when applying the brakes, but i've have a complete new set of brakes put on it, rotors and new calipers in the front. The brakes also make a knocking sound. I also got a complete set of tires and they seem to be wearing quicker than normal. I have had 3 different shops look at the breaks for a diagnoses and all of them say that the right parts on it and they don't see and reason for the noises.

I had to have transmission replaced which i filed a complaint already and since thatthe esp , all wheel drive, skidding and another light keeps coming on and off and my brakes only work half the time and now my driver window wont go up or down or mirror work and today my car wont start.

Wife was driving car 1/2 mile from home, started smoking, stalled on busy street, coasted into shopping center had car towed to a garage-found freeze plug between engine and trans failed, engine overheated , cly head gaskets failed, engine had to be removed and rebuilt.

My car would not shift into second or third gear - i had to park car, shut off and restart.did same thing couple days later and my engine light came on.had my mechanic check the code and it is something to do with the transmission.the car just hit 90,000 miles.i have already had the water pump replaced, front and back brakes, pads, rotors and calipers replaced.this car is a piece of garbage.

I noticed over the weekend that the car started making a weird ticking noise.also when put into reverse it seemed like it wanted to stall sometimes.i was driving to work and it started to buck and sputter.i was able to get it pulled over and there was smoke coming from under the hood.i had it towed to a garage where it was diagnosed with a cracked transfer case which came with a $2400 estimate!after doing a little research it sounds like this is a typical problem with this model and year and found many accounts on dodgejourneyforum.com.sounds like a recall needs to happen before someone gets hurt if it hasn't happened already!

As i was turning into a subdivision a loud knocking noise followed by a squeal and my engine completely shut down and seized.i have a little over 83,000 miles on my 2009 dodge journey.there were no indications of any problems.it was one of the quietest vehicles i have ever owned, and this happened out of no where.the shop has informed us that the engine is completely seized and needs to be replaced.the mechanic has not seen such silvery oil in a long time.this comes across like a manufacture error such as your recall for the rod bearing in your 2012.can someone please investigate this.i just made my third payment on this vehicle, and now i am without a vehicle, after owning it for 87 days at the time of incident.an oil change was done approximately 1000 miles prior to the incident and there were absolutely no warning signs.we need our vehicle, and it is going to cost $4000 to fix, and we still owe over $10,000 because we purchased it on september 25, 2014 and this happened on december 22, 2014.this has to be a manufacturing issue. Please advise as to what to do to have this fixed.

A plastic piece hold two male hoses together melted from the heat of the engine's manifold causing the engine to reach possible damaging temperature due to the loss of coolant. The vehicle was being driven on the highway and street before the vehicle started to steam from coolant loss onto the manifold. The plastic piece that melted was enough to cause a small fire on the manifold.

Transfer case is going out, and vehicle will stall and not start again for a while.vehicle would not even backup, had to call a toll truck.

Transmission fluid keeps leaking out,i have had it repair twice and that's keeps happening.

I was on i95 doing 70 miles an hour and my car stayed in drive and all the sudden started going in reverse. Backing me up on the highway. I hadtractor trailers flying all around me. Cars going around me running off shoulder to keep from hitting me. I tried emergency brake to stop. I tried again once i got to 20 it started going in reverse again. They said it was a internal transfault and it grinding metal into my transcooler that will need to also be replaced with the transmission. If its internal and no fault of mine and almost killed me and i do not ever want to drive on a highway again from fear. Why should i have to pay for it. This should be a recall and they should have to fix it. I am very angry and upset and not rich.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge journey.the contact stated that the vehicle would shake profusely when driving 50-60 mph.the dealer diagnosed that there was a misfire in cylinder five and repaired the failure by clearing out the carbon corrosion, but the failure recurred.the manufacturer was notified, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle.the failure mileage was 31,000 and the current mileage was 32,600. Have had a 2009 journey since august 2008. At about the one-year mark, the vehicle began an odd noise when turning hard left.the dealer replaced a ps reservoir, but the noise is still often evident.

Took my dodge journey 2009 sxt- awd on 09/16/2011 to the dealer because the engine would not crank, they made the repairs. At check-out i was told the vehicle needed 4 new tires. At the time the vehicle had 31,328 miles.

Car started smoking from heating hose busting and started running hot.... Also front windshield water dispenser no longer works....told dealership car kills sometimes while driving.... Was told a recall but parts not available...also when car is put from reverse to drive after complete stop... It jerks and engine bangs... Got told block around engine wall.... Also not covered under full extended warranty......sometimes car will not start b/c of ignition switch which sometimes takes about 15 tries to start car... Or have to put in neutral to start.....just totally disappointment b/c i love the size and all my amenities in my suv, heated seats, leather, t.v., inifinity radio..... Definitely disappointment.... Went with a dodge again.... Bc my durango saved my life.... And i felt safe in another suv......

When i turn a corner or hit a bump or just driving down the street, the ignition will turn off and the car won't run.once i have it stopped and put in park i can restart the vehicle.however, lately when i turn the key to start the car, the key will switch back to the off position.i have had this issue more than once.

Radio and interior screen malfunction. I am scared to drive this car. The key for will set off alarm when hitting unlock.

I have a 2009 dodge journey r/t which has led courtesy lamps over head and under the dash on both sides as well as a rear dome. The overhead dome and front led's are controlled by opening the doors as most courtesy lamps are. However the under the dash courtesy lamps are controlled with the dash instrumentation lamps, therefore when you drive with the headlamps on,they are also on. This makes driving at night very difficult as the inside of the vehicle is illuminated, causing glare and poor visibility outside of the vehicle. I have returned the vehicle to the dealer on several occasions, as of friday 6/26/09 they now inform me that is the way it is made and can't be changed. This is dangerous and unacceptable.

We bought a 2009 dodge journey sxt back in may 09. In the last month feb 2010 on, the automatic locking/security mechanism for the driver side door has failed (scheduled to be looked in two days) and today our transmission/gearbox literally exploded under the hood at 6,000 miles. We were driving down a back road on the way to store when a string smell of burning came into the cabin and then we heard a severe pop and then nothing but billowing smoke. We had our two young children in car seats and immediately stopped the vehicle to try and get them away from the possibility of the engine being on fire. We got the kids out and i went back to shut off the car once i saw it wasn't fuel leaking. Once it cooled down and stopped smoking i raised the hood and saw what looked to be burnt transmission fluid and small metal flakes all over my engine and undersideof the hood. So it was just towed to the local dealership to find the cause. So now i have a car with a faulty security system and possibly needs a new transmission and we only have 6,000 miles on the car. Still waiting for the dealership to do the work. On a side note, with all of these issues on a brand new car we may be exploring legal options if chrysler doesn't make this right.

There was a exhaust smell in the cabin that was repeatedly checked by the dealer and couldn't find the source. Then on the highway while traveling out of town, i heard a loud bang. Pulled over and the car wouldn't start. Got it towed, and the mechanic said the transfer case needed to be replaced for $3000 with only 75,000 miles on it

The vehicle occasionally will not start, sometimes if you turn the key and put it in neutral it may start but not anlways. Battery and starter are new. All electrical is good. The issue is an unresolved problems and i have seen several forums with this complaint on the dodge journey. No mechanic can pinpoint what causes this. I've been stuck several times for hours due to the vehicle not starting. It may be some security glitch or something. Dodge needs to recall this and get it fixed.

My car i bought 9/2015 has had 3 transfer cases at 3,000.00 each and now needs another, cracked and leaking. At this point it now needs the also need intermediate shaft that goes into the transfer case and is not available anywhere in the united states, according to dodge. I have a loan on this vehicle and unable to drive since sept 20th, 2017. I wrote to the attorney general in masachusetts. Received a letter on oct 12, 2017 from them , telling me to contact your dept right away. I drive my vehicle on city streets. I saw leaking while i was in parking lot at work on sept 15,2017 . Ibrought back to aamco on sept 16, they called dodge because this would be number 4 transfer case. They told them i had to bring to a dodge dealership, which i did.aamco put in 3 transfer cases.harr dodge in worcester, ma diagnosed on sept 20, 2017 and that is when i found out what it needs. With no part available in the entire united states. They need to recall this car now, not years. 2009 dodge journeys

I was driving home my wife, daughter and my pregnant wife, when about 1/2 from home a dark black smoke came out of the engine compartment,i pulled over and pulled the hood latch, and after i was able to get my family out of the car, i looked underneath the car,a dark fluid was pouring on top of the exhaust. The car had to be towed to the mechanic. After an inspection, he found that the power transfer case unit cracked. Had to pay out of pocket since dealer said that it wasn't under warranty and that's normal wear for these vehicle. $1350 for transfer case, $85 tow truck and $450 labor.

Bought this vehicle used in september of 2009. Assumed that the unlimited powertrain warranty applied to this vehicle. Noticed a foul, pungent odor 2-3 days prior to following incident. On the day of the incident, i made a slow left hand turn when i heard a loud metallic sound from underneath the engine compartment. I exited the vehicle, looked underneath and found thick, dark fluid pouring from underneath the vehicle, as well as a small fire. Fire self extinguished. Was able to drive vehicle slowly home (approximately 1/2 mile) and park it.2 days later, i had the vehicle towed to a mechanic, who diagnosed a failed transfer case. After the vehicle was removed from my driveway, i found a piece of metal approximately the size of a silver dollar where the vehicle had been. Dodge is now denying responsibility in this instance every though there appears to be (and my mechanic verified) a parts/manufacturing issue with this vehicle. Preparing legal action at this time.

While stopped at a stoplight i heard a loud bang that at first, made me think someone had ran into the back of my journey.when i realized that wasn't the case, i stepped on the gas to go, but it didn't, thinking i had knocked it out of gear, i had moved the gearshift into park then into drive and drove to my part time job.after getting off at 7pm, i got on the expressway to go home, once i started going the speed limit 55mph, i heard another bang noise and the truck was loosing speed, so i pulled over and called roadside. After finally getting the vehicle to the dealership they were about to take it out for a test drive and the service tech heard the bang noise.they put on the lift and found that the transfer case had cracked.

I purchased the 2009 dodge journey sxt used in 2012. In less then a year i had to replace an axle, then replace a drive shaft. Once the drive shaft was replaced, less then a month later i was driving home and heard a clicking noise. It lasted no longer then a minute and then about 1 mile down the road as i was turning on to my road i heard a loud crack. My vehicle then shook violently as i drove, as if one of the tires might be falling off. I cautiously continued on at no more then 15mph to my drive (maybe 2/10 of a mile). When i pulled in my car was smoking. The next day we had the vehicle towed to a local repair shop, thinking maybe it was a transmission problem. And were informed it was a transfer case needing to be replaced. It had cracked and split down the middle and was leaking fluid. When we called to check on the $1200.00 part (after already putting in another $1500 in parts and labor to the other two problems) we were informed that the company was over 300 parts behind on them and it could take a while. Great. After immense online research it appears that this is a common problem in the sxt awd version of this vehicle. Had we purchased this vehicle new, it would have been covered under a lifetime warranty, however because it was used we get screwed. If you ask me, dodge should back its vehicles, no matter what. A recall should be issued and dodge should have to fix what appears to be a common problem.

They need to recall this car now, not years from now . This is a dangerous situation it is part of the driveshaft connection. There have been complaints since 2013 about these transfer cases leaking, cracked , seals leaking driveshaft problems. I don't understand why it is taking so long for someone to do something about this. I want chrsysler dodge to recall this vehicle and purchase my vehicle back. Also brakes in this vehicle wear at 5, 000 miles and every 5,000 miles which again is a problem. Hundred of complaints since 2012 and this has not been addressed either by this safety commission.

Purchased at 40k in 2011 and now at 90k in 2015. Have had to replace transmission, rear diff, tie rods (2x !) brakes (2x !) rotors, and ball joints. And tires wear to fast. Now my airbag light is on. They said i need to replace the column ring apperatis... What ap.o.s.! please recall the entire vehicle.

Takata recall power train system is not functioning correctly. The car will not start even after getting a new battery and replacing fuses. The car was stationary parked in a parking lot.

Transfer case is going out, and vehicle will stall and not start again for a while.vehicle would not even backup, had to call a toll truck.

Car transfer case split in half going down highway calipers froze up

My wife was driving it and all of a sudden some smoke and there is a bad smell. But then she heard a clicking sound. So i when over and drove it around and the clicking/grinding sound coming from the vehicle.

Had the car a little over a month and on the way home from work a very loud noise.we had it towed to dealer who stated transfer case has a leak. I had tofight with the warranty company to cover this replacement.now the electric system is causing my fan, brake lights, and chargersto go on and off..

I bought my journey less than a year ago. Since i am not the original owner i get the shaft with a car w/less than 60,000. Well, i had just gotten new tires when on my way home i apply the brakes to pull into the drive and hear a horrific metallic noise. Upon my husbands inspection there is nothing found wrong with the brakes or the front of the car, after not being able to stand the noise anymore i have him change the front brakes the next day, thinking maybe the tire guy had knocked something loose and we couldn't find it.brakes still looked good, changed anyway. Noise still horrible. Next day took the car to a mechanic who informed me of major transmission problems. I had the car transported to a transmission shop. Diagnoses, transfer case has gone out, bad news over 600!!!!!!! on backorder, letme know it might be up to 2 months before they could get one to fix it. I talked to the local dealership, they informed me they could get one sooner. I had the car transported once again. After being at the dealership for 2 weeks now they are telling me it maybe atleast another month. Really? i am still waiting. Just wondering what the magic number of problems to one part does it take before chrysler/dodge admits that there is a problem with them and they do a recall on these transfercases that are not lasting as long as an american part should? if i had known about this common transfer box problem i would have atleast been the first owner of a new vehicle with a warrenty not the second who gets the shaft. So $2000.00 later i am still waiting.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge journey. The contact stated that while driving in reverse 3 mph in his garage, he smelled a burning odor. A few weeks later after driving fifteen miles at a traffic light, he smelled smoke and saw it behind the left front wheel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure.the dealer stated that they were waiting for further instructions regarding the failure from the manufacturer. The current and failure mileages were approximately 5,300. The power transfer seal unit was replaced. Updated 11/12/10

While making a turn there was a loud bang from the under the engine area.after that the car would not move, had to be towed to dealer.dealer replaced pto unit.if this had happened on the freeway there might have been a rear end collision.

I have a 2009 dodge journey sxt awd.i have had several issues since ipurchased this vehicle in oct 2008.the issues were brake/caliper failure, water leak, wiring harness, ignition failure etc(the list goes on).recently on july 10-13 2011 my vehicle would automatically stall when coming to a complete stop or ideal brakin. I brought my vehicle in to my local dealership to find out reason for stalling.the stated it was due to the transmission wire being fried and it was going to cost me $227 to replace wire.i immediately contacted chrysler and placed a case in regards to my concern as i felt this was a warranty/safety issue. I also, inquired about the buy back program as every 3k to 6k miles something goes wrong with my vehicle that is never minor.i was without a vehicle for 3 days due to the negligence and follow-up between chrysler case manager and dealership's service manager.i had no transportation leaving myself and child stranded.therefore, due to no response i contacted the dealership to have it fixed & paid for it as i needed my vehicle back.that same day i get a call from the case manager stating they are unable to compensate me due to vehicle already being repaired/picked up.i was so disgusted and upset at the fact the disregarded my concern and could care less.

Electrical systems don't work all the time such as radio. Burning smell. Seat belt stopped working last year had to replace entire unit. Pto went out 8 months after 6 months purchase.

Brake problem the rotor getting very hot.

I have had our dodge journey awd since feb 2009;to date we have had to replace rotaters and brakes three times along withtwo sets of tires.i am getting ready to be forced to replace them again (4th time) as well as the tires.i bought the dodge because i thought it was a good safe/low maintenance car.i will never purchase another dodge ifi survive this one! dodge doesn't care and advises that it is "normal" wear!this car needs to be recalled before some one is hurt!

After 45 minutes of combined in-town and highway driving (approx. 16 miles total) during rush hour car began to smell hot. When stopped visible smoke from right front wheel well. Car pulling to the right and slight vibration in steering wheel.after inspection it was discovered the caliper was locked-up. Replaced front right brake pad and caliper.all 4 rotors were turned 01/2013.

I purchased a 2009 dodge journey in september 2013, shortly after leaving dealer ship i noticed the steering wheel shook when i applied the brake. There were other things we were taking care of with the dealership and at the time this was not of priority, fast forward roughly 2-3 weeks the shaking got worse and worse and the driving of the vehicle became uncontrollable, applying the brake became dangerous and it became obvious that it would soon lead to catastrophic results. We returned to the dealership to which we left the vehicle and returned hours later, they said they had to change the brakes and rotors and it was a heard of problem with that vehicle, they said it was free of charge that time since it was less then a month of purchase but if it occurred again we would have to cover all charges, fast forward 4 months and the shaking started again when applying the brake. It is becoming unsafe especially if you are traveling at high speeds (interstate, etc) it is becoming unreliable as to what it will do, i have two small children to care for and the risk the vehicle continues to put us through is ridiculous. Upon internet searches i learned this is a frequent problem and a very well known by dodge problem with 2009 and 2010 dodge journeys yet nothing has been done to permanently fix the problem i can't afford to change the brakes and rotors every few months just so i can simply control my steering wheel/vehicle, this problem will inevitably cause a car crash if not with my dodge journey then with another, lives are being put at risk and something needs to be done. I will be contacting my dealership soon to set up a date to change my brakes and rotors again, but at this time i do not have the money to do so, so i bare down and pray to god everytime i must apply my brake hoping it doesn't get worse to the point i can no longer control it.

Within months of purchase had to replace brakes, rotors & calipers in addition to wheels.

Electrical systems don't work all the time such as radio. Burning smell. Seat belt stopped working last year had to replace entire unit. Pto went out 8 months after 6 months purchase.

Takara recall: when leaving work i started my car and began to back out of the parking lot when i went to push on my brakes to stop my car my brake pedal went all the way to the floor as if i had nothing but air. I called and had the car towed to a local shop 4 different master cylinders put on the car two new calipers on the driver side front and back replaced along with a new abs module and brake line hose on the front left side 2500.00 later and i still have no front left brakes!!!! complete nightmare and it is completely unsafe not one person can figure out what the problem is oh i shall add we also replaced the brake pads!

Needed new brake pads and rotors at this low mileage(13,687). Front brakes and rotors replaced again as well as rear rotors and brakes at 19,765 miles. Front brakes and rotors replaced again and rear brakesand rotors resurfaced at 34,745 miles. Rear brakes and rotors replaced again at 59,951 miles. Front brakes and rotors replaced again at 67500 miles. Front brake pads, rotors and calipers, and hoses all replaced at 72,773 miles. Feel this is a definite safety concern.

I was driving and the low tire pressure indicator came on.i pulled over to a parking lot and proceeded to add air to the tire using an air pump.after filling the tire with air and attempting to dislodge the air pump hose. The end of the tire stem broke off inside of the tire pressure gauge causing the tire to deflate completely.i noticed that the tire stem looked corroded, and i immediately googled the problem with this tire stem and learned that there are numerous complaints where the tire stems on the vehicle corrode (which mine did exactly) and then break off while most are driving.in addition to this problem the vehicle antifreeze reservoir's crack causing the antifreeze to leak out on a constant basis. This too is a item which should have been recalled long ago.thank you so much for your time and consideration into these reported by un-noted defects in this vehicle.

The brakes/rotors going out faster than they should. Cant really even get 3000 miles out of them.

Tires wore down at an alarming rate at just under 100 miles and brake pads also. Doesn't start at some times..just a click...turns off for no reason...when in park it acts like it wants to move forward ...cannot keep an alignment

My husband and i both felt something was wrong with the brakes almost immediately after purchasing the vehicle.we both went into the dealership and asked why it was shaking while braking, the dealership said not to worry it just was the abs. Now we learn we need new brakes and that dodge is/was replacing brakes- 36000 miles or 3 years. Would have been nice to know that years ago.

Dealer said front brakes needed replaced due to wear on 3-15-12.i had the work done.thereafter a loud chatter noise comes when brakes are lightly applied, such as slowing for a red light, approaching a stop sign, pulling into driveway garage, etc.the longer the distance driven, the louder the noise gets.today (4-3-13) i have returned the car to the dealer for the 6th time for the same issue.the problem has never been resolved.i must drive from florida to ohio on may 4th, 2013, and am quite concerned about the possibility of brake failure on such a long distance.i am a 68 year widow on a fixed income. This has been a nightmare situation for me.

Bought a new 2009 dodge journey sxt with 11 miles on it. After driving it for 18,000 miles my mechanic told me the front rotors and pads needed replacing, talked dealer into replacing. Now after 25,000 miles, need replacing again.

Brake judder on 2009 dodge journey with 15k miles. Required rotor and pad replacement due to safety concerns regarding stopping.rotors proven to be warped.

I have a 2009 dodge journey that i purchased in june 2008.i have had so many problems with the brakes (front and back) of my car.i had problems ever since i was at 9,000 miles.it's crazy.. .the dealership kept "fixing" the problem, supposedly but i had to take my car in there at least four different times before my car even hit 20,000 miles.i files a complaint at chrysler... They didn't seem to care... And took it upon myself to go to another dodge dealership to see if they saw the same problems and they (with the cooperation of chrysler's complaint department) took care of it free of charge.i had to switch dealerships because the original dealer hadenough and wouldn't fix it for free anymore.it was obviously not my fault!i questioned whether they were even fixing it at all.i have to change my back brakes now, yet again!it's too much money for a pretty new car, barely 2 year old.i told them to take my car back and never heard anything more about it... I would love to give it back... And i hope they recall them soon!

On my 2009 dodge journey sxt 4 door suv i have had constant brake problems.had to initially get the front breaks replaced at 16,000 miles and am now taking it back in to get them replaced again at 25,000 miles only a few months later.this is ridiculous! i don't ride my brakes at all! brakes should not need to be replaced this often on a vehicle.please make dodge take responsibility and replace every brake on every model and refund all of us who have had to deal with this! this is our families lives at stake if the brakes fail, someone needs to be held accountable!!

I purchaseda 2009 dodge journey in oct 2008 just after 12000 miles i had to replace the front brakes and rotors(11-20-2009).at 21,100 the brakes starting pulsating again and was advised by the service department of the dodge dealership to machine the front rotors since it was recently replaced (08-21-2010).at 23,700 miles i need to replace the rear rotors and pads need to replaces as well as the frontrotors(11-06-2010).

I brought in my 2009 dodge journey for a window problem that driver side window failed to close due to a broken wire but while in the dealership getting estimate for repair i was told my brakes were in such bad shape the car was not safe to be put back out on the road so after talking with the repair department manager i was told dodge would not replace obviously defective brakes and that the brakes and rotors would have to be replaced at my own expense to say the least i was quite pissed ,i used to be a dodge fanatic but once i sell this lemon never again will i buy useless dodge car i would rather buy japanese car at least they back up their products since this fiasco i tell my friends don't waste their money on junk.

I purchased a 2009 dodge journey in feb of 09. It is now may 2011 and have had to have rotors resurfaced at 8,000 miles. Have replaced the front brake pads 3 times and the back one twice. And now i need to replace the front rotors. I have been thru 2 set of tires. Currently the car ignition is having problems. It just doesnt want to start at times. I have 4 children and this is my only car. At the one year mark it started running hot and continues to do so periodically. It also keeps loosing oil. Also the radio will be playing and it will just go to a black screen. This car has been nothing but problems and is getting expensive to repair. It is due to go in for service for the ignition and the recall on the door wiring on wed. I would never buy a dodge again!!! cant wait to get rid of this car.

I had to replace the brakes and rotors at 10,000 miles. No warning or grinding noises. I would not have known how bad they were if a friend had not pointed out the amount of brake dust on my wheels. Very disturbing, especially because i regularly drive my own children and others.

Front brakes have been replaced twice so far. Told by dealer they were replaced at 19000 with original type that had problems because they were told to. Had those replaced at 29000 when steering became wobbly as brakes applied. Asked if i was getting 10000 mile brakes again and was told they put on what they are told by manufacturer.

I replaced front brake pads and rotors every 10000 miles for this car. Dealer says "it's normal" !!!

Rotors warped. Had to replace front rotors and pads on 1/26/10 - 21,624 miles, 8/6/11 - 29,723 miles, 8/16/11 - 45,561 miles. Replaced rear rotors and pads 2/23/11 - 38,529 miles. Vehicle would shake and shimmy due to warped rotors. Resulted in premature wear and replacement of tires at 38,529 miles. Out-of-pocket costs to me: $739.13 for rotors and pads, $910.30 for tires. Last set of replacement rotors, ordered on internet, came with lifetime warranty against warping and cracking. Why can't dodge/chrysler corp. Come up with reliable brake components and properly engineered braking system for a vehicle of this weight?

Rotor/brake problem. Serious vibration when brakes are applied. Problem is worse when vehicle has been driving for a while or after being in stop/go traffic.

Reduced braking caused by worn front rotors and front brake pads from prematurely wearing out in 13 months of use.rotors worn beyond repair (cannot be resurfaced) and pads worn completely.appears to be design and product failure.braking system maybe inadequate for the load of the vehicle causing excessive wear.requires upgraded braking system to offset size and weight of vehicle.additionally, cannot purchase any upgrade rotors from third party suppliers due to newness of model.nothing is currently available except the same oem parts from dodge/chrysler.vehicle sustained a loss of braking efficiency until almost complete loss of front braking system.loud grinding and high pitch noise from rotors.no warning lights or warning system that braking system required repair or service.vehicle lost front brakes sooner than a reasonable person would have or could have anticipated and no warning to cause inspection to occur.

Front and rear brake pads and rotors have gone out four times.i had the rotors resurfaced two times and had to purchase new rotors two other times because they were too far out of spec. The vehicle has 49,000 miles. The brakes and rotors have gone out every 10,000 to 12,000 miles. Loss of braking ability and pulsating steering wheel almost constantly.

At 8234 miles i took my 2009 dodge journey awd to the dealership with slight pulsation while braking and the dealership resurfaced the front rotors.at 11156 the car went in for brake issues and the dealership replaced the front brake pads. At 11574 the car went in once again for brake vibration and the dealership replaced both front rotors.at 16049 the replaced rotors were resurfaced.at 17669 again for brake vibration but the dealership could not duplicate problem.at 20554 the front rotors were replaced once again.at 23669 the 2nd set of rotors were resurfaced.at 24944 the rotors again were replaced for the 3rd time.now it seems to me this might be a defect on the brakes, but according to the district manager at chrysler it is my driving that is causing the brakes to get bad.i have been lucky that dodge has not charged me up until this week.dodge will no longer repair the brakes because according to the district manager "it is not the car, but my driving".i currently have 25k miles and have gone through 3 sets of rotors (and still vibrates) and believe me i do not ride the brakes as they claim.

I have an 09 journey awd sxt and have had trouble with brakes interior plastic parts breaking oil leaks engin not starting . Brake rotors and pads on front replaced three times windshield wipers replaced twice can't buy rear wiper so had to make one. Have had it in shop for windows and doorlocks not working right and still don't.tires worn out at around 30,000 miles and cost 1,500 to replace. Am now having problem with radio . I have had my car to the dealer multiple times and still have all the same problems. I bought this car new in july 09 it now has 34,487 miles on it soon my warranty will run out . This has been the worst vehicle i have ever owned it is a '' lemon. ''

The contact owns a 2009 dodge journey. The contact stated that while trying to decelerate from 5 mph, the brakes would exhibit an abnormal pulsation and the vehicle would vibrate excessively. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that she would need to replace the brakes and the rotors. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred four times and the brakes and rotors were repaired each time. The failure mileage was approximately 9,300. Updated 02/01/11*ljupdated 02/03/11

Purchased vehicle (dealer demo) in march 2010 with 4,000 miles on it.came with all (full) warranties. Has known brake issues with pads prematurely warping.first service was 11/5/10 at 19,600 miles front brakes redone paid $50 under warranty.second service one week later 11/12/10 rear brakes redone at 20,107 miles.on july 2, 2011 at 35,455 miles replaced front brakes/pads again paid $155.00had brakes checked again on 10/1/11 and 8mm of material remaining on front and 7mm of material on rear.on 11/1/11 noticed warping on front (possible back too) and decided to file this claim before having them redone again.obviously they cannot keep the pads from warping so i will be back multiple times each year to prevent further damage to rotors etc.i will not keep paying for this service it needs to be covered under warranty and zero dollars to me. Plan to bring it in on 11/25 or 11/26/11.

I purchased my journey in march 08.i have 17,000 miles on it and i had to have the rear brake pads replaced.i had been noticing a hot smell coming from my car from time to time, but until i walked by may rear tire i did not know where the smell was coming from.when i bet down to investigate the smell my rear wheels were so hot i could not touch the wheels.the smell was not a hot break smell but a different one.i contact my dealership and they had me bring it right in.after evaluating the problem they told me it is a design issue with the journey and a couple other models.what was happening was the breaks were oxidizing and the calipers would release, but the brake pads would not.so the brake pads were constantly rubbing the rotors.they said they have seen this issue many times before but chrysler was not addressing the issue.my dealership treated me well, but this issue should be remedy.i called the recall department and they stated there were no recalls for this matter, but advised me to go to nhtsa.gov and state my complaint.they will not start an investigation into this matter until they receive a larger consensus of complaints.the dealership said this would be an ongoing issue for the life of the car.

My 2009 dodge journey r/t awd has just over 21,000 miles on the odometer.recently, the brakes were acting worse than normal, so i took it in to a service center.i have learned that the pads and rotors are completely shot, making metal-to-metal contact.all will need replaced - at 21,000 miles!checking the internet, i have learned that this is a common problem with the dodge journey.numerous owners have had to have completely new brakes installed with less than 23,000 miles on their cars.the factory warranty only covers brake problems for 12 months / 12,000 miles.there is clearly a design problem with the brakes on this vehicle line.

2009 dodge journey sxt awd. Front brake system. Had vibration in front end, dealership told me it was rust from being parked outside and that the technician had sanded it off. This did not correct the problem that i felt were warped rotors. I took a trip to mechanicsburg, about 350 miles from home, and upon return my brakes are "toast". Pads, rotors and who knows what else are all going to have to be replaced at a significant cost to me; more than $400.00 (us) in this economy. I bought an american car to do my part for the economy. I think i am going to regret this purchase. I traded my 2001 land rover in for this.

I've had to have the brakes replaced on my dodge journey 2009 and the rotors at 22,000 miles.now the steering wheel shakes.the first journey i purchased had these same problems and was replaced by dodge/chrysler as a lemon may 2009.now the dealer has no idea why the brakes are going bad or the rotors so fast or why the steering wont stop shaking.i fear now the braking system on the car is bad.dealer stated the journeys were known for poor / faulty brakes but chrysler won't recall them.

Approximately every 15-20k miles, the brake system and tires wear completely, requiring full replacement. Chrysler/dodge is aware, but chooses to offer only minor assistance, and pithy excuses, even going so far as to blame it on "women drivers".

2009 dodge journey sxt - brakes and rotors - had to replace brakes at 37,000 miles and was told rotors also needed to be replaced. Should have lasted longer then they did - last week 6-11 received notice from chrysler -dodge that if owner had to replace prior to 36,000 miles they would replace at their expense less $100.00 deductible. Wouldn't touch my claim since my brakes were replaced at my cost at 37,000 miles. If the rotors and brakes were not right when this vehicle was made, i feel that chrysler-dodge should have to pick up the cost in full or extend the mileage on this problem so their customers can say they have safe vehicles.since brakes and rotors are a vital issue of a an automobile this should be addressed.i am still driving with bad rotors and couldn't get any help from the dealer or chrysler-dodge complaint department or customer service.

I had to replace the front brakes pads at only 12,000 miles. This seemed wrong already.then, i took my vehicle for the regular service and they said everything was fine. Just after 1000 miles i started to smell burned from the outside of the car, by the rear tires. I made an appointment with the dealership and i wasn't even able to get there that my car was smoking in the back.i had to change the pads and disks. The reason was that they were all rusted and they basically said that it was my fault!! a new car with only 20,000, not even 2 years old should not rust like that. And what about telling me that it was rusting when i took it for service?

Pre-mature brake rotor warping and subsequent pad wear.2009 dodge journey had all 4 rotors and all pads replaced at 14,000 miles at my expense.now at 28,500 miles, i have the same problem again.dodge/chrysler will doanything about it.

I own a 2009 dodge journey, i have had 6 (yes 6) brake replacements in the past 3 years. My first one was at 10,000 miles. I currently have 50,000 miles on the car. How can you not think there is a problem in the design of the journey's brake system ? why don't you investigate ?

I bought my car used in february 2011 with 26000 miles on it. Since then, i have put 10,000 miles on it and have had to replace the front and rear brake pads and rotors twice. The brakes wear prematurely and make a loud grinding noise that you can feel in the brake pedal. The dealership needs to recall the faulty brake system on these vehicles. I can't continue to pay $600+ every 6 months on brakes. This is ridiculous!

Power steering return line ruptured on a -20f morning. The vehicle was in motion and i lost power steering. I didn't notice until i went to take a corner. I was able to make the corner but came close to hitting a snow bank. The speed was low so i had time to react. After that i brought it to my local dodge dealer and it was repaired. The total bill was 383.17. It's funny there is a recall on this issue with this year and model yet mine isn't recalled. The recall explains what happens and that is exactly what happend to my journey.

The power steering return hose at the rack position broke in below freezing conditions when i first started it a few weeks ago. The hose is broke and it's leaking power steering fluid and it's hard time steer the vehicle at times. Other 09 dodhe journeys have been recalled, but mine, sxt awd was not included in the recall according to the vin number. I feel it should be and the hose is still currently broken. I am on a fixed income and this needs to be fixed by chrysler instead of out of my pocket. It is higher mileage and the motor is not the original but that should not make a difference to me. The vehicle was parked at the time of the incident.

Safety recall s08/nhtsa 16v-273 power steering return hose and fluid cooler .... This recall describes exactly what happened to my vehicle .... Upon a very cold weather start up my power steering return hose ruptured and failed. I'm wondering why my vehicle is not covered under this recall ..... I started vehicle in driveway at 7 in the morning and the outside air temperature was -18f.as soon as the vehicle started the return line split several inches on the top of the hose line and left a puddle of power steering fluid in my driveway

Rear rattling (metal on metal) unable to locate. Heard when windows are down and driving over a bump.

I was on interstate 55 going north when my tire blew out causing damage to my car. There was no warning or any other variablel that caused it it just blew out while i ws going about 70 miles an hour. I purchased this tire a couple ofmonths ago brand new so i was told at the place where i purchased it. I could have hurt or killed but thank god i did not panic. I was on my way to work thank god my wife was not in it when it blew out.

Tire is worn , went for oil change , tire at almost dangerous level , this is second tire to wear through in a year . I was told these tires have terrible wear life. I can only get them at dealership and they are extremely expensive . If you are putting such a high price tag on these tires then improve them. I am on disability and this is a big hit. I love my journey but am thinking about getting something else. I just paid 52.00 for an air filter and cabin filter.

Took my dodge journey 2009 sxt- awd on 09/16/2011 to the dealer because the engine would not crank, they made the repairs. At check-out i was told the vehicle needed 4 new tires. At the time the vehicle had 31,328 miles.

I am a licensedcommonwealth of pennsylvania certified state inspection mechanic. I just encountered a very dangerous situation with a customers 2009 dodge journey awd vehicle today, july 14, 2012. I wanted to bring this to the attention of the proper authority, with the hope that this could be investigated in detail to prevent a potential fatality or a number of them.today a regular customer of mine, arrived at my facility with a flat tire, after further inspection; i noticed the valve stem was missing ( on the 2009 journey and many new vehiclesthis is a " tpms" - tire pressure monitor sensor) the customer was driving at approx. 30 mph and noticed the light come up on the dash and within seconds her tire was flat, nothing was hit, no jolt, no warning, just poof, the tire went flat. Luckily she was driving at a low rate of speed on a rural roadway and was able to stop the vehicle and exit to safety with her children. Once i dismounted the tire, i found the tpms on the inside of the tire leaving just a hole in the rim, hence the loss of air pressure. The threads on the tpms were covered with oxidation and no retaining nut was found, the stem was not broken, altered or vandalized, it just came unattached. The threads were oxidized so badly that another retainer could not be threaded on, so i replaced the tpms with a new one. After installing that tire, i went to test the air pressure in the other front tire, as i gently placed the pressure gauge on the tpms valve stem to check the pressure, poof that tpms went right thru the rim; the retaining nut shattered and broke into pieces, quickly causing a massive and rapid loss of pressure.it is my opinion that, had the vehicle been traveling faster, a vehicle owner would be left in a very bad situation, perhaps causing a loss of control and a potential fatality. Tpms sensors need to be inspected or recalled to prevent death.

Tire pressure monitoring system problems.the consumer stated tpms was corroded. Updated 09/26/2017

A week ago my tire pressure sensor light lit.found the passenger rear tire was very low.added air and the sensor light went off.a few days later the sensor light came back on.checked the other three tires first and all were ok.went to check the passenger rear and the cap was seized.tried giving it a good twist and the stem broke off.dealership won't cover the costly part under warranty because it the stem itself was broken off.i've heard of many problems similar to this and they were covered.i think my dealership, danbury dodge of connecticut, just sucks!i'll never go there again!i should have known it was trouble when the sales manager shook hands on a deal and then had the nerve to come back and raise the price due to an "addition" error.it all adds up to bad customer service!

Tire pressure monitoring system on 2009 dodge journey.valve stems have metal threads at end that were broken prior to purchase of vehicle.dealer working to replace, but have been told there is a large number (approx. 20,000 on back order) and it is unknown when parts will be available.apparently, this is a common problem affecting chrysler/dodge vehicles.i currently have three tires that i can check air and add air as necessary, but difficult with broken valve stems.on the fourth tire, the threads are completely broken and missing making it impossible to check air pressure or add air.the tire monitoring system continually warns of low air pressure - dealer says it is a malfunction and to ignore. Parts availability is an unknown.safety of vehicle and occupants is questionable with defective system.

I just purchased a 2009 dodge journey at royston dodge in morristown tn. My family and i were driving down the highway and the tire pressure sensor went off. I noticed that my right front tire was low and when i started to inflate it the valve stem popped off in my hand. This would have been a definite fatality.

Owner of a 2009 dodge journey sxt awd with kumho solus kh16 tire 225/55r19 size stock tires.after experiencing complete right front tire failure while traveling approximately 45 mph on a paved two-lane highway, owner installed the temporary spare tire.the vehicle's awd light immediately illuminated.owner ceased operating the vehicle and obtained the services of a tow company.apparently, this vehicle cannot be driven with the spare tire supplied by the manufacturer as the awd! light illuminated.the owner's manual states the vehicle should be serviced right away when the awd! light illuminates.there is no caveat statement regarding driving to a close location for limited mileage.moreover, the manual states the pto unit (aka awd! unit) will be damaged if the car is driven with the awd! light illuminated.driving with the supplied temporary spare caused the awd! light to illuminate.additionally, if the car is driven with the temporary spare installed and the awd! light illuminated and damage to the pto occurs, is this damage covered under warranty?if the spare is too small, as is the case via visual inspection, why is that spare tire supplied with the vehicle?shouldn't an acceptable spare be made available, or a caveat statement regarding driving on the temporary spare for limited mileage be supplied, so the driver/owner is not stranded?additionally, culpability for damage and the incurred expenses should be born by the manufacturer in this case, and a statement regarding such should be evident and clear in the owner's manual.

2009 dodge journey fails to start at times. This issue has been more frequent. I've owned this vehicle for 4 years and have had this issue for 3. The battery has been replaced along with many other costly repairs. The failure to start has left me stranded on many occasions and the suggestion to put it in neutral first would be helpful if i could depress the brake, but i can't...it's as though they're locked. As a single mom, this is very disconcerting as i am always on the go between work, school and other obligations.

Got a recall for the fobik in september went to the dealer courtesy motors they said they put our name onlist should be in december well here it is end of feb. And still no part is there still aho;d up on this part? also my airvbbag light has been on since then is this part of the problem with that part.

I bought 9/2015 has had 3 transfer cases at 3,000.00 each and now needs another, cracked and leaking and need seals and a part. . at this point it now needs the intermediate shaft that goes into the transfer case and is not available anywhere in the united states, according to dodge. I have a loan on this vehicle and unable to drive since sept 20th, 2017. I wrote to the attorney general in massachusetts. Received a letter on oct 12, 2017 from them , telling me to contact your dept right away. I drive my vehicle on city streets. I saw leaking while i was in parking lot at work on sept 15,2017 . I brought back to aamco on sept 16,2017 . Brought it to aamco in turnthey called dodge because this would be number 4 transfer case. I was told, ihad to bring to a dodge dealership, which i did. Aamco put in 3 transfer cases. Harr dodge in worcester, ma diagnosed my vehicle on sept 20, 2017 and that is when i found out what it needs. With no part available in the entire united states.

My 2009 dodge journey awd sxt locking mechanism stopped working. It worked all day then all the sudden the key fobs stopped working. It will turn the alarm on and off but will not lock and unlock my doors. The driver and passenger side locks won't work either. I can not use my hatch because it will not unlock. I now have to manually lock my doors from the inside and lean my seat back and crawl to the back to unlock my back doors. I use the manual door key to get in my car now. All electrical buttons on my driver side door will not work. I can not control my locks, windows or side mirrors. On top of that my car will not start all the time only when it chooses to. I have already replaced the battery twice since i've owned the vehicle. Also had key fobs replaced last year. I hope someone can help with these issues. It is beyond frustrating that there are so many issues with this model.

Received recall notice in 2014. Notified dealer in elizabeth city, nc promptly, as instructed.they informed me the part was on back order and would contact me asap. I have checked back with them several times in 2014 and now 2015 with no expected date of repair.i am concerned for my safety as i drive long distances. Please advise what is my next course of action.

The brake pads on the dodge journey wear out prematurely.

The horn beeps for no reason when the car is in park.it will go hours with no honking then will honk for an hour beep then beep beep beep then beep then beep beep beep. And so on.then it will stop for a half an hour and start all over again then stop for a few hours and start.my husband finally pulled the fuse.we had to have a new battery installed on 5-27-15 and were told it has nothing to do with that.does it have anything to do with the recall i just saw that was issued on 5-16-15

Horn has started honking intermittently, usually while stationary and usually in the middle of the night (this started mid june of 2018). Last night, starting at 12:30am, the horn has sounded at least once or several times every hour. Changing battery in replacement key fob has done nothing. (key fob was recalled and replaced several years ago). Can't get an appointment with a local dodge dealership for a week so have no idea why this is happening.

Tires wore down at an alarming rate at just under 100 miles and brake pads also. Doesn't start at some times..just a click...turns off for no reason...when in park it acts like it wants to move forward ...cannot keep an alignment

Approximately every 15-20k miles, the brake system and tires wear completely, requiring full replacement. Chrysler/dodge is aware, but chooses to offer only minor assistance, and pithy excuses, even going so far as to blame it on "women drivers".

Whilewashing the tires and rims on my dodge journey i hit a valve stem breaking it off. I have washed many wheels in the past and never had this happen before. I was very lucky that it didn't hit me or my hand. I think i will take it to the car wash the next time.
