I have extended warranty and this was not covered why not a recall this is a very serious problem and should be covered under warranty. No safety defect listed.

Airbag light comes on sometimes.when it comes onwindows will not roll down anda/c does not work. Consumer feels someone could easily sufficate. Consumer has to stop at every light to open door to get air. Also,engine check lightwas coming on.

Transmission slips, shifts rough, sometimes will not go into gear at all,sometimes it will not shift out of first gear.

Air bag light illuminates, dealer stated illumination was occurring due to an internal controller failure and that the air bag controller needed replaced.

The insured was involved in a rear end collision, in which the airbags failed to deploy and also the seat belt released, there were 4 injuries. (claim#52-2499-839)

While driving 30-35 mph, consumer ran head-on into a pole, drivers side air bag did not deploy, however passengers side airbag did deploy, contacted dealer, and they were not willing to do anything. . consumer suffered injuries.

When consumer appliesbrakes they are hard. Also, when he applies brakes in sudden stop, they don't engage. Front end dipswhenconsumer brakes, and there is a clanking noise coming from the front of the car while driving 25 to 30mph.airbags didn't deploy when consumer had an accident while driving 30mph.

Vehicle was struck fromrear at approximately 45 mph while at a stop position, air bags did not deploy/seat belt failed to lock, and driver's seatcollapsed backward. Dealer/ manufacturer notified.

Consumer was involved in anaccident that caused $8000 worth of damage to front end side of vehicle, which included damnages to the airbag sensor. But the dual airbags did not deploy.

On the passenger side dashboard air bag cover is curling up, and in the upper left corner, air bag can be seen.

While driving at about 40mph on a dirt road, that has been known for bad spots, consumer hita badspot and car started fishtailing and hit a ditch head-on, spun around in opposite direction, and hit and embankment.car landed on its side,upon impact,airbags didn'tdeploy.

Airbag sensor is located behind front bumper which is lower than normal. Therefore, when consumer was involved in accident , hit vehicle with a 35 mph impact,the rear end of the other vehicle bypassed the airbag sensor, causing dual airbags not to deploy even with $5,000 worth of damage to front end. Manufacturer claimed there was no design defect. *ml

Dt: the contact'svehicle wasinvolved in an accident. Consumer states having the same problem as recall#98v32300 isolator cradle. Dealer will not repair because vin is not included.

Dt:the contact stated the engine stalledwhile driving at highway speeds. The vehicle must stop before it will restart.no indicators light cameon either before or after the vehicle stalled.there are several recalls and all have been repaired in a timely manner.the dealership states a new computer system needs to be installed in the vehicle, but they can not guarantee this will repair the vehicle. Vehicle has experienced numerous electrical problems since its purchase requiring repairs at my expense.the latest being a short in the wiring harness leading to a failure in the wiring connection to the radiator cooling fans on 2 occasions. Replacement of the fan harness does not fix the problem in the wiring harness and it will short out and burn the connection again. This should be fixed by the manufacturer as a manufacturing defect.

The consumer stated that it was hard to find the horn during an emergency since it was located in an unusual place.

My car was purchased new and at approx 33000 miles the original spark plug wiring "burnt" and the car 's motor started missing.i had a new set of spark wires installed (under warrenty-by dealer) and again at approx 47000 miles the same thing happened.again i replaced these wires at the dealer's shop at my expense ($139).upon asking as to why such an occurance of the same problem the repair shop foreman told me that all intrepids had that problem!i have written chrysler to complain of this but have no response from them for a month now.i have talked to other intrepid owners and to my amazment they too have the same problem, just as the foreman told me.my question is one of safety, what if someone were driving and the wiring was lost to several of the plugs at one time, would the motor stoprunning?depending upon the road conditions this could be a serious problem.the mechanics said that a simple shield would prevent this.why does not dodge do this also?in a nutshell my dodge intrepid has had 3 sets of spark plug wires in 47000 miles and no relief in sight.thank you, marilyn j davis

Short in electronic relay causing engine shut down.

The last couple of months the headlights would go out without warning.upon clicking the high beam switch they would come back on.intermittent wipers starting not working also.high beam switch stopped working (not staying in place) day prior to meltdown.while driving home on 11/22/03 there was a smell of something burning.i checked under hood and around outside of car when i got home.smelled nothing outside.got back in car and at that point the headlights would not work.brought car to mechanic and the inside of the steering column (module for high beam/signal/wiper and wiring harness) completely melted.i don't believe there was any fire.please check into this. *nlm

Strong smell of electrical fire while driving, as well as strong gasoline odor.when car was pulled over it was discovered that the fabric covering the ceiling of the car was burning.took to dealership, but they could not figure out what was causing the problem.they removed fuse that contols indoor lights and cruise control.we have had not solution to the problem as yet.

Steering wire harness had caught fire while driving 30mph. Smoke was entering vehicle compartment. Vehicle checked after stopping. Drove to dealership andwas repaired. Was driving 70mph andproblem had reoccurred. Took back to dealership and was repaired.problem happened a third tin down. Manufacturer refused to repair it again.

I have had to replace the transmission.the inside interior dash and overhead light come on and off when they want to.the dash flashes, when i open the doors sometimes the lights come on and sometimes they don't.the headlights automatic timer when shut off doesn't always work.the right axel on the passingers side needs to be replaces very lose. Automatic locks for the 2 back doors don'twork.

Vehicle pcm module failed causing fuses to short out.

Was driving vehicle whenentire instrument panel quit functioning. This happened after vehicle has warmed up for a while. When vehiclecooled down, instrument panel lighting would reappear, but disappeared again when warmed up. Have taken vehicle to dealership to have mechanic check out problem. Was informed a type of electronic switchwas causinglights to quit.when the vehicle was restarted, the guage cluster worked for a while.

I kept smelling something hot when the headlights were on.when the low beams quit working, i removed the cover from the steering column since that is where the smell seemed to originate and it often felt hot.i found the wire to the low beam terminal of the dimmer switch had overheated burning off about an inch of insulation and damaging both the switch and the connector on the wiring harness.i have purchased a new switch and am preparing to repair the connector.

Engine light came on repeatedly and engine caught fire.the fire had come from the rear hood area.the dealer stated that the fire started from the #5 fuel injector/wiring harness/fuel rail.the vehicle also lost braking power and revved during the incident.there was an oil leak prior to the incident where the rocker arm cover was replaced, the power steering was noisy, leaked, and was replaced, and the bleeder screw was broken and the thermostat housing was replaced. *scc *nlm

A worn belt was replaced but did not remedy stalling problem, now radiator leaks.consumer states that when replacing the air filter, the plastic case that holds the screws instantly breaks. My 1997 intrepid's (dodge) engine died suddenly while driving on the long island expressway a few weeks ago. The steering became difficult and t he braking much reduced as a result. Dangerous situation. Dodge doesnt take any blame even though they did major engine work about 2 months prior (head gasket replaced due to oil light intermittently coming on.

The problem with the coolant system is related to the water pump, specifically the o ring seal.my vehicle has overheated on 5 different occasions.each time, i pulled to the side of the road as soon as i noticed the temp needle in the red or the idiot light illuminating.once cooled down, i refilled the coolant resevoir and went along my way.each time, i verified operation of the thermostat and the condition of the hoses.it's finally been narrowed to a bad o ring seal.i am very concerned about latent heat damage internal to the engine.the window seal problem is very irritating.the wind noise at speeds above 50 mph is obnoxious.i've had it checked, but nothing was ever done under the warranty (to my knowledge).the window lock problem was due to a dislocated spring lock.i repaired it myself by repositioning the spring and reinstalling the assembly.finally, the weather seal problem is worrisome to say the least. There is a musty smell indiciative of a water leak within the vehicle.i have not found it yet and i am very concerned about mold/mildew/rust damage to the entry and pooling sites.please advise me as to any recalls/service bulletins that apply to these problems.thanks.

Vehicle over-heated took to my mechanic. Flushed system, changed thermostat and checked water pump. Vehiclestill overheats mechanic then advised me of head gasket problems.

Every two months the car overheats. We have brought it to two different mechanics and they can't seem to find the problem. Have replaced thermostats and sensor to no avail.

After replacing 2 water pumps, the coolant bottle is leaking, i have to pay for the repair

Water pump locked up, causing timing belt to break, causing instant engine fairure. This left me in the middle of a very busy highway at risk of collision. The police had to block the lane i was in until a tow truck could remove the car. It is my understanding the water pump p/n has been superceded because of high failure rates.

Water pump failed.

Was driving vehicle when it started to lose power for no reason. It failed to go over 30mph. Took it to a private mechanic & was informed a drum broke off in transmission. Part holding drum had sheared off. Transmission needed complete overhaul. Also,had rear tie rods replaced/thermostat was replaced twice for overheating, and02 sensorsreplaced twice due toengine checklight coming on.

Engine needs new valves/cylinder heads.

Engine lifters needed to be repaired. Would make loud ticking noise when it's suppose to go up & down. Took to dealer & informed by mechanic no noise was heard, but would repair the lifters. Owner picked vehicle up & it started leaking fuel in middle of road & made puffing sounds & finally stalled out. Towed vehicle back to dealer. The brakes were replaced after being hard to apply. Have squeaking noise in back of vehicle. The ticking noise came back.

I was driving home after work in my 97 dodge intrepid, my engine failed. My motor needs to be replaced. I had no signs of engine problems. If i would have been on the highway, i probably would have caused an accident.

Without warning vehicle stalled while driving.

Vehicle had a serious oil leak. Dealershipwasaware ofproblem.

Took car in for routine oil change, when service tech attempted to remove the dipstick to check oil level, the yellow plastic top broke off, prohibiting removal.had to go to a local chrysler dealership to purchase new dipstick and have broken one removed.on the second entry, the trunk lid did not stay open, andhit person(s) placing items in or removing items from trunk. And on the third entry, there is a constant film on the windshield which severely limits clear vision and also causes extreme glare, especially during night driving.

When starting the ignition or driving the vehicle, it idles very high. Which makes it hard to stop the vehicle. The idling becomes erratic at times. Please provide any further information. Nlm

While driving at 40 mph vehicle is stalling, anddriver can hear some rubbing noise.vehicle will cut off while driving. Also,consumer is having problems with the tie rods.

In cold weather the vehicle starts and constantly stalls without warning cause unknown.the vehicle failed to start several times.the dealer tried to fix the problem but the problem reoccured.transmission fluid and power steering fluid leaks. The consumer believes the vehicle was lemon.

Left bank sensor has gone out.consumer noticed thatengine check light was coming on.dealership toldconsumer aboutsensor, consumer has had sensor replaced once before.

Enginestats and then dies, and it takes about six to eighttimes before it will run at all. Then it stalls again.

The vehicle had a recall done for the fuel systems leakage. (#98v184000) the motor had ran hot. Vehicle had worked fine prior to the repairs. Will be taking vehicle back to dealer.

I think this should have been a recall .motor could have fell out of car.

Other 1997 intrepids had recalls on this part #04663601ab, but my particular vehicle does not have a recall yet the same part on my vehicle has also cracked & broken off. No safety defectmentioned.

I took my car in to have it serviced and have the check engine light looked at for the second time.i picked up the car and the service tech told me the check engine light was coming on because of a loose spark plug wire on cylinder 2, again.that was the reason they gave me the first time also.the oil had been changed and the fluid levels checked at this time.i drove the car approx. 30 miles over the week-end.sunday 7/18/99, while setting in a mcdonalds drive thru line i noticed my car, i thought it was smoking, it was probably steaming.i pulled over to a parking place and shut the car off.i left it set for 3-4 hours.this was the first indication of overheating that i had ever had.the temp. Indicator light did not come on until the car pouring steam from under the hood.drove it home and it was getting hot in that short distance.took it to the repair shop on monday 7/19/99 and it remains today 8/12/99.the heads on this vehicle were warped.tried milling them to 8 this is the max recommended by the company, it did not work.tried to get used heads, found 2 different sets, and both pairs were warped and the service tech would not install them.order refurbished heads and those are being installed today.i had this car serviced regularly and there was no indication of fluid leaking.i believe there is a problem with this type of overhead cam and the aluminum heads.i also noticed on nhtsa consumer site there were alot of complaints about water pumps going out on this year of intrepid.my vehicle had a water pump replaced in oct of 1998, and it has also been replaced as a result of this incident.it is not even 12 months old yet.i am sure there is a connection to this incident, and since the water pump is under warranty i feel the extreme damage is cause by the make up of the vehicle itself.i also feel mislead by the rave reviews this vehicle is receiving in the media.thanks for your time.

While traveling 35mphbelt tensioner fell out of the engine. Vehicle stopped running. Was towed to mechanic. Informed consumer the bolts holding tensioner to engine had fallen out. This caused the tensioner to fall off. Would need to replace the 2 bolts.

Alternator belt cracked. Mjs

Was driving vehicle when it started to lose power for no reason. It failed to go over 30mph. Took it to a private mechanic & was informed a drum broke off in transmission. Part holding drum had sheared off. Transmission needed complete overhaul. Also,had rear tie rods replaced/thermostat was replaced twice for overheating, and02 sensorsreplaced twice due toengine checklight coming on.

These headlight are pathetic for a 1997 vehicle! they are not bright enough, especially on high beam. Not safe to drive at night in rural areas. Multi function switch located on left side of steering collar that controls turn signals, high/low beam selection ,and wiper blades has failed for the third time.the orignal switch was replaced by the dealer at a cost of 197.00 dollars on 21 jan 2000.14 months later the switch failed again, part replaced on 6 march 2001 at a cost of 228.00 dollars with another serive center.16 months later, again the switch has failed- awaiting repair.these switch failures result in a smoldering fire inside the steering colum resulting in smoke risinf from the left side of the steerng column.this is a serious safety hazard.failure causes headlights to intermittantly go out during night driving, turn signals fail to work , and wiper blades are inoperable.to preclude complete destruction of wiring harness, fuses were pulled negating use of the previously mentioned controls.

I noticed that the dodge intrepid 3.5l engines are being recalled per the nhtsa campaign id# 98v184000.i took a copy of the recall to my dodge dealer because my car has a fuel leak on the fuel rail.i had replaced a fuel injector on the rail in december for a fuel leak, and it ends up the rail is leaking too.the dodge dealer took the car in, with this recall number and told me on 1/7/99 that they do not have any record of a recall, and will charge me to fix the car.the recall was announced on the radio, and i have this nhtsa recall printed out as well.the part they need is on national backorder as well, basically i have a car that if i drive it, i can get hurt due to the fact that they can't fix it due to no parts available and they refused to give me a rental car free while they fix my defective car.i don't understand why it was recalled and the dealer will not take care of it.i sure am not satisfied with dodge's concern for having my car on the road with a fuel leak.please respond to me about what i can do to get them to fix this car per the recall instead of me having to pay hundreds of dollars to fix it.the problem as well is the part is on national backorder and they told me it will take 2weeks to 2 months to get the parts.should a car manufacturer have responsibility to provide a vehicle due to their safety hazard.i can't believe i have to pay a car payment for a car i can't drive, and they can't even fix the recall.

I do have routine maintainance done, but that's at the hands of others who are suppose to know what they are doing. I had difficult with allen samuel dealership, here in houston and needed someone i felt i could trust to do these repairs. We started noticing a strong gas smell in our car and bad fuel economy. The smell was so strong that it was making us sick after being in the car for more than 15-20 minutes. I took the car to a shop and they told me that it the "fuel rail is leaking and the fuel injection o-rings need to be replaced also". The shop cannot get the parts due to a shortage. They said that the parts are only being used for "safety issues for dealers first". So nothing is being done to fix the problem. We need our car and it could possibly catch on fire due to this problem and we cannot get it fixed.

This car belonged originally to my brother-in-law as his company car.he sold it to his mother, who, for 2 years, drove it only 1000 miles. At the time of check-in for the vehicle i sited the recall 98v-184 and the odi resume summary for investigation rq98-018.this car had been repaired in the recall, however the odi resume states there is no time limit for subsequent failures.dodgeland checked the car and stated that the fuel leakwas not due to the fuel rail or the o-rings, they said i had a bad fuel injector.i told the service technician at that time that if the fuel injector was bad, i should be having performance problems, and i was not.however, they continued to deny this fuel leak had anything to do with the recall.they quoted a $425.00 estimate for the repair, and stated i should not drive it anywhere.i took the car home and took it to an independent mechanic for repair.this shop found just what i expected that they would find:the o-ring was leaking, the fuel injector was not faulty.i would like the $40 amount i paid dodge to diagnosis this problem refunded, as well as the 375.00 repair bill i paid to an independent mechanic.

My 1997 dodge intrepid transmission has gone 3 times since i've owned it i purchased it in early 1999 with 48000 miles the 1st time the shifterwould not go all the way in to park and at 62000 miles it went and all i had was reverse. I had a warranty through the car dealer with a 250.00 deductible. They rebulit transmission and at 84000 the samething happen 13mos. Later and of coarse no warranty so i had to pay full shot this time at the sum of $ 1,300.00. Now it seems that it is starting to act up again .what to do? other than this this has been the most dependable running car as far as any thing else goes i have ever had. And yes i do have the filter & fluid changed when it should. I have a 1997 dodge intrepid.from about 25,000 miles to its current 58,000+ miles, every so often the transmission fails to engage from park to drive, or park to reverse.when this happens, i usually place my foot on the brake and rev up the engine -- the transmission will then usually engage -- with a clunk.when that doesn't work, i usually turn the car off and restart it.the transmission then usually engages immediately.i have taken my car into the dealership twice to have this problem addressed - but they have been unable to even attempt to fix the problem.i am concerned that if my foot slipped off the brake while i rev up the engine - in an attempt to get the transmission toengage -- that i could accidently run over a loved one or hit another car.i feel that the nhtsa and dodge should be aware of this transmission defect.if nhtsa and/or dodge is aware of this problem in other dodge transmisisons, perhaps you can provide me with the information i need to relay to my local dealer for "the fix." my extended warranty should cover the repair costs.

Brakes continually make squealing noise.

The contact owns a 1997 dodge intrepid.while attempting to operate the vehicle, the contact noticed that the steering column was inoperative.a technician stated that the rack and pinion fractured and needed to be replaced.in addition, the bolt in the kit offered by the dealer has a smaller head and an improper locking pad that would inevitably lead to a failure.the contact is in the process of having the vehicle repaired and is waiting for a response from the dealer.the failure and current mileages were 222,000.

In the fall of 2005,the bushings on the tie rods were replaced due to excessive wear. On july 10 2006,my wife backed out of driveway into street,but could not go either forward or backward. A tow truck was call quoted $1460.00 and car was transported to dealer. Dealer quoted $1460.00 to replace steering rack & rods.

The complainants lawyer is investigating this issue.according to lawyer the passenger's seat was reclined further back than what was stated by complainant.eyewitness stated as such. Rack and pinion / steering issues in 1997 dodge intrepid.after just driving 65-70 on the i-15 in southern california, i felt an odd vibration and pull in the steering of the 1997 dodge intrepid i was driving. Exited the highway and attempted to turn into a business parking lot to examine the issue when the front end sent a pop sound and the vehicle came to a screeching halt. Engine light came on repeatedly and engine caught fire.the fire had come from the rear hood area.the dealer stated that the fire started from the #5 fuel injector/wiring harness/fuel rail.the vehicle also lost braking power and revved during the incident.there was an oil leak prior to the incident where the rocker arm cover was replaced, the power steering was noisy, leaked, and was replaced, and the bleeder screw was broken and the thermostat housing was replaced. *scc *nlm

On 6/10/00 my son was driving our 1997 dodge intrepid while taking 3 of his friends home.as he turned onto a residential street at 5 mph the tie rod end bolt on the left side broke which resulted in his losing control of the vehicle.this could have resulted in a fatal accident if it had happened on the freeway or had he been driving carelessly.he was however he was able to stop the vehicle before it had hit a parked car .the there could have been injuries and other property damage as a result of the tie rod end bolt breaking.we have since had the car epaired, butwe are advised by our mechanic not to drive the vehicle because of the condidtions in which the bolt had broke.he feels that it could happen again since there was nothing indicatingthat the break was going to occur and that there is nothing to keep it from happening again.we would also feel responsible if we were to have an accident while driving the car on the freeway or for that matter anywhere else.this is something that.

1997 dodge intrepid, inner tie rod bushing failedwhile taking the vehicle to get front end alignment, i was told the inner tie rod bushings needed replacing. I am in the process of repairing the bushing now. I have found one bushing completely gone except for the metel bushing part, and the other nearly as bad, suspect it would be totally gone in another month or two.

Bad steering rack. There is a clunking and rattling in the front end. I took it to the dealership and they told me that i need to replace the steering rack. The cost is $1100.00. I asked them if i could drive it the way it is and they told me that it is safe to drive. I bought the car with 33,000 miles on it and this problem occurred just a few months later.

Broght to dealership. Told nothing was wrong. Told by friend who owns a 1996 intrepid that all the rack and pinion housings have a design defect and it costs $900 to replace.

Dear sir or madam, i own a 1997 dodge intrepid es.about a year ago, my rack and pinion needed to be replaced.he installed the new rack and pinion, but i still heard intermittent "clunking" noises coming from the front end.i brought it back to him, he checked it, tightened it and said it should be fine. This past friday (07/01/05), i went to back out of a friend's driveway and heard one big clunk... Then realized that my steering wheel had completely disconnected from both front wheels! i had the car towed and the (new) mechanic realized that the (original) bolts holding the inner tie rods had both snapped at once.he contacted the mechanic that had replaced the rack and pinion (a year ago) and found out that he had reused the original, factory installed bolts, thinking they were fine.he had no reason to think that they should not be reused. My new mechanic found out that dodge (daimlerchrysler) has a bolt kit to remedy this "problem" of the original bolts breaking.my new mechanic did not know until he called chrysler for the replacement bolts. I am hoping that you can tell any mechanic that orders a replacement rack and pinion for 1997 or earlier lh platform cars, that they use this bolt kit, provided by dodge (for approx $55.00) - if my mechanic had some way of knowing to use the heavier bolts in the first place, less rack and pinion assemblies would be damaged. I wish there were some way of letting all owners of these cars know about the heavier bolt kit - and suggest or require that these bolts be changed out - before the rack and pinion fails in the first place. Car started to vibrate bad around 74000 miles. Took to 3 different repair facilites, was told by first the rack and pinion needed replaced, was a bad design and they see it all the time. Was told other components were wore also because of the rack and pinion, total cost- $1500. Midas muffler gave me a similar estimate for $1600. This week a firestone dealer checked the car, the right rear cradle cap bushing was gone,right front separated and about to fall apart. Other suspension/steering components wore and needed replaced. They told me to take it to a dodge dealer and complain. This car is the second largest purchase we have ever made, besides our house. We feel cheated by dodge. We are afraid to drive the car for fear it will fall apart like others i have seen on this site.dodge should repair this car fully or buy it back from us. We will not be able to afford to take our children to see the ocean ( we live in ky) as we hoped to do this summer and the car is not dependable enough to drive out of my driveway!!

On sunday (2/18/01) my wife was traveling home when the steering wheel locked in the middle of a turn exiting from the local interstate highway. She was terrified; our 18-month-old son was in the back seat of the vehicle. She was able stop the car without incident. When i arrived i found that when turning the steering wheel towards to right - the wheel would simply lock in place unless forced. We were able get the car home and immediately made an appointment with our local dealer.

Rack and pinion steering broke on our 1997 dodge intrepid with no warning while it was being backed up, it was total steering failure. We have owned this car since new and it has never been an accident. Thank goodness we had already made it to our destination and this happened before we headed home. Dealer advised clunking from front of vehicle was bad steering rack. Steering rack should not be bad on a car that is only 3 yr old. Dealer would be happy to replace it for $1200. Not! this is a serious safety issue affecting the directional stability of the vehicle. This vehicle has not been abused in the least and for the steering rack to be bad after only 3 yrs and 60,000 miles is absurd and certainly indicative of a defect. There are 3 tsb's and 8 other odi complaints that directly address this defect. The only thing worse than not being able to steer a car is not being able to stop it. I cannot stress the seriousness of this defect enough. I hope chrysler will do the right thing and replace these bad racks and make the intrepid a safe car to drive.

I was driving my intrepid, a new engine was just put into it, and they did a complete inspection of everything at the same time. I was going 50 miles an hour swerved to miss an animal, suddenly the left wheel must of broke, put me into a spin, i spun around several times ending flipped over into a ditch. No explanation except their must of been manufacturer defect in the steering or wheel assemblies. It was a slight swerve nothing extreme. I am hurt pretty badly, unable to barely move today, and my car was totaled after having to just had to put out money for an engine that blew up approximately a month earlier. While backing-out and to the left from a parking spot, a loud bang was heard and the vehicle, a 1997 4dr dodge intrepid was undrivable. An assessment by a qualified mechanic concluded a serious problem occurred in the front right passenger side wheel area. The low control arm was ripped away from the engine cradle. The vehicle was towed to the nearest dealership in paris,tennessee. (pepper's dodge attn. Lori 731-642-5661). Sun roof- problem existed at time of sale, dealer aware that parts were defective and no replacements available. Still not fixed as of 5/24/1999. Car drifted to the left on flat roads and crowned highways-right lane. Drift was severe. Full lane change within 300 ft or less. Dealer response- all components set to manufacturer's specs. Nothing he can do. Last trip in march 1999 dealer noticed wear on tires and rotated them. Also ordered power steering pump and a steering idler arm. Car does not drift anymore. Front end has had a vibration from day 1. Dealer can't seem to notice it of find out the cause. Changed tires, rotated tires, checked on brake discs, etc. Still no full solution. Vibration is less the first noticed but still present at 5/24/99. Some was corrected 12/08/1997, more remains. Lights do not seem to be bright enough or the throw pattern is wrong. Leaves blind, bark areas in front of car especially the high beams. Dealer response: lights are set according to specs. They seem to throw lights more upward-short range and to the sides. Oncoming traffic complaints.

This vehicle has always pulled to the right.even after having it aligned, it still pulls right on some roads. Going just 30 mph both left & right tie rods went out.i had just exited the freeway going approx. 70 mph.if this had happened @ that speed, it most certainly would have resulted in an accident.tie rods should not go out at 40,000 miles.have '92 ford truck and have never replaced tie rods. I had a recall performed on vehicle last year at martin dodge in bowling green, ky.after getting the services renderedi noticed several problems.one was that the turn signals were no longer operable, automatic transmission would not shift past second gear and would miss gears repeatedly, and abs brakes failed.also noticed that suspension was worse after they performed suspension recalls.i have tried on several occasions to contact the dealership and they only suggested that i bring it for a diagnostic at my cost, even though the problems existed after getting the recalls fixed. Car started to vibrate bad around 74000 miles. Took to 3 different repair facilites, was told by first the rack and pinion needed replaced, was a bad design and they see it all the time. Was told other components were wore also because of the rack and pinion, total cost- $1500. Midas muffler gave me a similar estimate for $1600. This week a firestone dealer checked the car, the right rear cradle cap bushing was gone,right front separated and about to fall apart. Other suspension/steering components wore and needed replaced. They told me to take it to a dodge dealer and complain. This car is the second largest purchase we have ever made, besides our house. We feel cheated by dodge. We are afraid to drive the car for fear it will fall apart like others i have seen on this site.dodge should repair this car fully or buy it back from us. Dt:1997 dodge intrepid.the consumer states the sunroof flew off on the highway.this happened while going between 65-70 mph.the consumer was trying too close it when this happened.this was not the type of sunroof that cameoff at any time.the consumer noticed a lot of air noise from the inside of the vehicle.the consumer was not aware of any accidents or injuries.this happened onseptember 1, 2005.the vehicle has not been taken to the dealership.

And on the third entry, there is a constant film on the windshield which severely limits clear vision and also causes extreme glare, especially during night driving.
