Consumers unable to find anyone to disarm air bags.
Without any prior warning the steering system suddenlyfailed to respond, total failure, no steering control, while driving at 60 mph on the freeway. The car steered itself hard to the right into a concrete baracad on the freeway and totaled the car.air bags also failed to work. I have stored the car. It has not been touched since the accident. I will keep it in storage for a short time in case you want to inspect it. It appears based on an external visual only inspection that components in the rack and pinion steering system failed. I have taken some digital photos.
I was in parking garage at jfk airport. When i started car and put it into gear, the car shot forward and crashed into concrete barrier and pillar.the airbags never deployed and the braking did not slow it down.the car was totalled and the travelers insurance has offered $2275 less the $500 deductible.

Passenger airbag cover warped, i fear it may fail in accident.
The passenger side airbag cover is coming up from the console i am afraid it will not deploy right and the a\c has to be refilled every two months and they say it has no leaks.

Transmission froze at 55 mph 1998 replaced still problems???, electronic control module went while in drive at 35mph, front tie rods replaced 2 times within a year, airconditioner went within 4 years, cooling system replaced within 4 years from manufactured date, abs module failed during driving on highway and again in city limits after dealer stressed that nothing was wrong with anti lock brakes i have had this car in the shop for major not minor repairs since the manufactured date at least 15 times and can prove each time.i am appauled that america can manufactur such a vehicle with all the major issues at hand, transmission, suspension,electrical,braking systems,fuel,airbags,structural,i wish there was someone who could address these issues with the manufacturer and get us all restitution.if it means legally or consumer agencies i am interested.i drive with 2 children and during the transmission, electrical and the abs failures they were in the car.i would like some type of a reply from them if at all possible. Car fire completely destroyed vehicle.
This car had given me no trouble on the day of the fire or prior to the fire.the car was performing perfectly.i was on my way home from work and had stopped at a stop light and saw a "whisp" of smoke.when the light turned green, i began to proceed through the intersection and the "whisp" became quite large.i immediatly pulled off the road and the engine area was smoking horribly.within seconds, fire engulfed the engine area.the car has been totalled by my insurance company.the fire report states the fire was electrical.the car was performing correctly prior to the fire.i had no warning or indication the car was on fire until i saw the smoke.no warning or indicator lights came on.i appreicate any help you can give to me with the issue.thank you.

This car which has suffered from repeated problems, suddenly began sounding the horn and the interior light came on. Driver pulled over and got out to disconnect horn and vehicle burst into falmes. Within sixty seconds of horn sounding, car was engulfed in flames. I don't have the vin # anymore as there is nothing left of this car but two tires and a license plate. My daughter rides strapped in a car seat every day with me. Had she been in there i would not ahve had time to get her out and she would be dead. Threee weeks ago a neighbors 1995 dodge intrepid did the same thing fow a few weeks and then suddenly eruptred in flames. Chrysler really needs to be held responsible for this. The failure is the wire harness that connects to the turn signal plug, it melts, bare wires are exposed, and almost caused fire, then stopped working completly numerous times.
I recently purchased a used 94 dodge intrepid from pa in dec 2007. A few weeks later the car suddenly stalled while driving on an extremely busy road and almost caused several accidents to it shutting off in the middle of a 40 mph road. The car didn't restart and had to be towed to a mechanic. This incident is just one example from many. Over the past 3 months i have been told it was the fuel pump, starter, a sensor, some sort of tube, catalytic converter and all sorts of things,which of course did not solve my problem. I have invested over $1,000 to try and repair the problem. It was not until today 3/24/2008 that while researching my car on the internet that i found the recall. I called both the dealership and manufacturer and because my vin wasn't apart of the recall i was told i could not be helped. So now what do i do. I 'm a single mother of a small child, i work and go to school. I can not afford to continue to give out hundreds of dollars and stop going to work or school because my car isn't reliable. I cannot afford to become stranded due to this problem. So please, please find a way to help those who really need your help in this matter.

While my husband was driving down a local street at approx. 25 mph, the car started making a funny sound all of a sudden then the car shut off. We later had the car towed to the dealership in our neighborhood who informed us that the engine was ruined without even looking at the car. We asked the dealership how this could've happened when we had scheduled oil changes with them on time. The car was there with them less than 30 dyas prior to the engine blow-out. The dealership coulnot give us an expalanation of what caused the engine t blow on a vehicle that had less than 70,000 miles.there was no warning such as oil leaks or smoke from burning oil even though we were informed that there was no oil in the car when it was given to them.no explanation given as to where 5 quarts of oil went from the scheduled oil change on 5/8/00 at their dealership. The total cost to us was $2165.00 which the dealer stated was the best they could do for us. They felt it was no fault of their's and we felt and still do that it was something that they did or didnot do during the oil change.

Both connecting bolts that connects the inner tie rods to the steering gear broke as i was turning in a driveway.i had just drove 50 miles on interstate 85 from smiths, al to tuskeeggee al. When i arrived at my destination as i turned from the ashfault highway on to the concrete drive way i heard a thump! that was when the bolts sheared into. My estimate speed was around 2 m.p.h. Also the headlights on the intrepid are too dim for night driving. The parklights lens stay clear while the headlight lens collects moisture dust and dirt after a period of time the lens start to turn brown which inpairs the ability to see well enough for night driving

My wife and i own a 1994 dodge intrepid 3.5 liter 24-valve vehicle.my wife drives this car every day to transport my son to school.she informed me that gasoline fumes were very stong inside the passenger compartment.i further investigated under the hood of my 1994 intrepid and found that the unsupported front steel crossover tube and the two rear tubes connected to the two siemens fuel injection rails were leaking profusely, depositing fuel all over the engine and puddles on the garage floor.being a mechanical design engineer, (profession), and automotive mechanic, (unprofessional), i commented to my wife barbara, while visually looking at the fuel lines and the clips holding the fuel lines to the fuel rails; i hope there is not just 'o' rings sealing this connection and also the only means of support for the steel cross-over line.i was wrong, this was the only part sealing up the lines to the injection rails.in my opinion, this is a very poor design and extremely dangerous.i went to buy the o-rings at a local auto parts store.i was told that they were unavailable for the 3.5 liter.i then went to my local dodge dealer to purchase the o-rings.they told me you have to buy the entire injection rail @ $189.00 each.to get all 4 o-rings which means i have to spend around $375.00 just to get these four o-rings.when asked why the parts department said that is the only way chrysler will sell the o-rings, which to me is a consumer rip-off to begin with.i took the o-rings to a vendor i use at my place of employment. He matched them up for me and i replaced them.the problem is two fold.#1) the cross-over line is dangling out there only supported by o-rings bouncing up and down with the car every mile you drive.right now with the engine running and the system pressurized you can wiggle the cross-over tube slightly and fuel will leak out of each of the two cross-over tube o-rings.i even installed viton rings to minimize damage due to exposure

Started smelling gas after returning from refueling the car.i thougt it was just from refueling. After starting the vehicle in the morning the smell became even stronger. I drove the vehicle to work and back and at various times noticed a strong odor of gasoline.after i arrived at home i opened the hood to look for leaks. I did not find any till i started the vehicle. There was fuel spraying from the injector rail. I came in and contacted the dealership that services my vehicle and made arrangements to have it repaired today{11/21/98}.they contacted me to tell me that it was the fuelrail that was leaking and it was not covered under warranty. I have to wait till monday to pick up my vehicle because that part was not available.they also told me that there had been a recall on some vehicles but my was not on the list.i went onto the web and found a recall listed by nhtsa about the fuel rail and injector seals.i am taking this with me on monday when i go to pick up my vehicle.
I , cheryl bares, michael's wife, was at a red light on gulf rd. When the light turned green started to go , as i pushed on the accelerator, the car started to go and then it slowed, (bogged). I decided to pull into a parking lot to see what was the matter, when i saw smoke and then fire.i applied my braked, but they did not work. I was heading straight for a store front window when i saw a giant mound of snow. I smashed into the snow mound to stop the car. As i got out ,the car went up in flames. I called the schaumburg fire dept and also made a police report out#99-4016. The fuel rail started to go on my car 3 weeks after i bought the car, jan 96.bernicker said that they fixed the problem.in oct 97 the gas smell came back the fuel rail completelywent feb 98.i wrote chrysler to pay to fix the problem.they refusedthe tire rod problem has been around since i had the car.bernicker fixed it 3 weeks after i bought it.that fix lasted maybe 2 or 3 weeks.the warrantee was then over.
When driving at 40 to 45 mph vehicle would start to jerk, and sometimes stall. Gas fumes were in car badand clothes smelled like gas. I was driving down the road and i started smelling gas. The fuel rail on top of the engine started leaking by the passenger side front injector. There was a recall issued for this vehicle for the same issue that was supposed to correct it and the recall work was done according to the manufacturer. Years later it started leaking again. Apparently the recall kit does not fix the issue, eventually the fuel rail on top of the engine will eventually start leaking again which may result in an engine fire if not fixed. I had to take the car to a shop and am still waiting for a repair kit from chrysler.

I have a 94 intrepid that has a lurch when coming to a stop and has problems going into gear when it gets cold.i was told that the seals installed at the factory were faulty and the tsb instructs that new updated ones be installed with the overhaul.also that the tcm (transmission control module) be update from a dealer to correct the cold engagement issue, the one i have now can not be updated and i need a new one.i was hoping to avoid the $2000+ overhaul.i have over a dozen e-mails from others with the same problem and have been on many web sites where others have had the same problems with dodge transmissions.i have not had the car repaird yet because i can not afford the repair yet and have been shifting into nutral before coming to a stop to avoid the lurch.i feel this is a factory defect and have call the factory but they are unwilling to do anything unless thousands call and complain.lmk if you can help.

This is the second time a dodge transmission has had to be replaced by us. The first time was a dodge caravan-v6, probably a 1990 but i am not sure. Mileage was just over 60,000. This time it is a 1994 dodge intrepid, perhaps the same type of transmission at 87,000 miles. My feeling is that dodge has known about transmission problems for over 10 years now and they continue to make cars with transmissions that fail at what i consider unacceptable mileage.to have to pay $1,790 to rebuild a transmission on a '94 car is unacceptable. Most failures happen around 40, 000 miles. This is a $2000.00 repair bill. Every mechanic i have talked to tells me if you buy an intrepid from those years your are guaranteed to replace the transmission. It is an obvious defect that chrysler is aware of and shou;ld require an immediate recall before even more people get ripped off!!

In january, my 6-year-old intrepid (with only 26,000 miles) began lurching when i braked.the dealer initially thought it was the brakes, but then said it was worn seals and gaskets in the transmission.i was told the work would cost $1400.when i complained, the work was done for $700 because of the low mileage.i then received the transmission recall notice, but was told that this was for different work.when i had the car in today and the tires were rotated, i was told that there was a safety problem with the steering - that parts were cracked and worn and had to be replaced.this would cost $600.i had a newspaper clipping from nov. 1999 that described steering problems in my model car and the nhtsa investigation.when i read it to the service advisor, he said that was the problem.i asked why i had to pay for a repair when chrysler knew there was a safety issue, and he said i had to be charged until there actually was a recall notice.i do not blame the dealer, but this is grossly unfair and irresponsible on the part of chrysler.i now will have spent more than $1200 on safety repairs on a car that has been driven very few miles.this is my first and last chrysler.please do the steering recall soon so i can get my money back.thanks.

I bought this car thinking that the dodge intrepid was a great car and we have not hadnothing but a nightmare with this car. I can not believe that a new car could have that many problems. We have a dodge truck that has over 200 thousand miles and never had this trouble. I have only once received a recall notice and i got that one after i called chrsler about it. I purchased my car as a new vehicle on august 14, 1994.on july 24, 1997, when the mileage on my intrepid was 60,715, the transmission failed and was replaced.on february 12, 1999, when the car had 95,964 miles, the transmission was again replaced.the technician indicated that there seemed to be a common problem with chrysler transmissions.this time, a cooler was added to the transmission system in an effort to prevent any further transmission failures.the costs of these repairs were $1,483.11 and $1,430.88 respectively.the total for both is $2,913.99.

I am looking for some guidance.my story involves 2 cars.i contacted the daimler chrysler corp. And was blown off.i contacted the wisconsin lemon law.they told me to try and contact the local bbb, local attorney generals office and the office of consumer affairs.the attorney general told me to contact you.i bought a used 1995 dodge intrepid in 1998.in 1999 i had toput a rebuilt transmission into it.that tranny was still going strong when i sold the car in 2004.i liked the car so much that i bought another used one from a friend.she purchased a 1994 intrepid brand new.in 1998 the tranny went out in her car.the car only had 9834 miles on it at that time.she put in a rebuilt.the car was impeccably kept up so i knew it was a good buy to purchase it from her.so i did in 2004.the tranny went out recently.i could not afford a car payment so i opted to put in yet another rebuilt transmission.my problem is that with my first car, the new factory transmission that cam with the new car lasted only 4 years.'the rebuilt lasted at least 5 years.with the 2nd car, the new tranny that came with the new car only lasted 4 years and the first rebuilt lasted 7 years.how is it that a 10 year old car with only 76,000 miles on it has to have 3 transmissions?this in on average, only 3.3 years per tranny.i feel i should get some compensation for the 2 transmissions that i invested in owning these vehicles. It amazes me that there is thirteen or more internal service bulletins and 150 or more complaints about this vehicle's transmission on this site and you have not enforced a recall for the dodge intrepid. I was just told that now that my vehicle is out of warranty and that i must now replacetransmission at a cost of $2,500.00. The transmission has been worked on a number of times while it was under warranty. I think you should make the chrysler corporation recall these vehicles and repair or replace the transmissions at their cost. It is a terrible injustice that the consumer must inherit this cost due to poor workmanship.

On september of 2000 i purchased a vehicle for my wife martha banuelos. The previous owner told me and gave receipts from the dealer where she purchased the car and repaired the transmission twice. The first time on 9/19/1999 with 45,888. The car will stall and will not stay running. The second time on 8/25/1999 with 45,932 m. The car won't shift when cold. A third time i took the car to the same dealer on 11/7/2000 with 51, 627 m. Problem, it did not shift when hot. The dealer corrected the problem by changing the solenoid pack.a fourth time the car was takento the same dealer on 4/4/2002 with 68,147 m. The transmission on this car malfunctions after the car is driven over 50 miles non-stop.after the vehicle is allowed to cool it functions normally.the car first starts shifting roughly, then it doesn't shift at all.finally it will not move.i have heard that many people have had transmission problems with this type of car.there should be a recall.i called a service person to discuss the problem/solution.the service person said thath usual solution is to replace the transmission.i talked with a mechanic about the problem.the mechanic thinks that it is either the throttle body or the pump which both can fail after the transmission is hot and has been operating for a long time.

The problem is that the transmission downshifts very roughly.the previous owner experienced the same problem and had to have the transmission rebuilt.again it has started and is slowly getting worse as was the situation with the previous owner.i have taken it in twice to be fixed.the first time they said the clutch failed and they fixed it.the second time, they said that the machine showed no fault codes.however, i am still experiencing the problem and it is slowly getting worse.

Both plastic spacers or guide were broken and laying on the floor. It allowed the back of the passengers seat to move upward in the amount of at leastone quarter of a inch 1/4 ". The seat belt is hooked to this assembly and this free play could in case of a accident be enough to give a head start and allow the seat to tear out and injure the passenger.

Inspection of the seat sliding rails and the stationary rails on the passengers side seat found the following problem. Four pieces of plastic were found on the floor under the seat. These pieces were 5 & 15/16" long and approximately 1/4" thick. It was found that the back of the seat could be lifted approximately 1/4" in the upward direction. These pieces were broken from a piece that was attached to the side of the stationary seat rail by 5 3/16" nubs that engaged matching holes in this stationary rail. This was observed from the rear passengers area. The plastic piece with the 5 nubs is 5 1/2" long and has 5 tabs that should attach to the afore mentioned pieces. This was observed on both the inboard and outboard seat rails. These pieces provide a sliding surface and a spacer to take up the clearance between the moving seat rail and the stationary seat rail attached to the floor. Simular devices were observed on the front of the affected seat which were not broken. The safety aspect of this condition is that this free approximate movement of 1/4" could allow movement to generate, during an accident, and cause the seat to tear loose and cause serious injury or a fatality to the passenger.
Dealership was notified about the problem. Metal framework of seat broken at right rear corner of power drivers seat where it attaches to seat back. Obtained replacement seat from junk yard. It broke at same place 10/01/2000. I fear that with one side broken it will put more strain on the other side of seat and eventualy cause it to break which could very likely cause injury or crash. One morning while sitting in my car the front driver side seat-back broke.the seat-back began to sag backwards on the right side.i took the car to the dealer and they contacted daimler-chrysler via their computer system.my car was covered for a free repair because other dodge interpid owners are having a similar problem.though my repair of my moterized driver side seat is free, i feel that this could be a major safety problem. Transmission froze at 55 mph 1998 replaced still problems???, electronic control module went while in drive at 35mph, front tie rods replaced 2 times within a year, airconditioner went within 4 years, cooling system replaced within 4 years from manufactured date, abs module failed during driving on highway and again in city limits after dealer stressed that nothing was wrong with anti lock brakes i have had this car in the shop for major not minor repairs since the manufactured date at least 15 times and can prove each time.i am appauled that america can manufactur such a vehicle with all the major issues at hand, transmission, suspension,electrical,braking systems,fuel,airbags,structural,i wish there was someone who could address these issues with the manufacturer and get us all restitution.if it means legally or consumer agencies i am interested.i drive with 2 children and during the transmission, electrical and the abs failures they were in the car.i would like some type of a reply from them if at all possible. The vehicle started to turn itself when driving and could not be controlled while driving. This lead to us taking it to a tire shop and we were told the bushings on the rack and pinion and the bushings on the tire rod were gone off the car. The vehicle was not able to be driven until the bushings were repaired because the loss of control was so bad on the vehicle. The failure of the bushings caused the vehicle to have to be repaired. We almost loss complete control over the vehicle twice before we found out what was causing the extreme pull in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to mechanic and they replaced the rack and pinion bushings and the tire rod bushings and tightened the tire rod bolts. This was a very scary situation for us and we were concerned for our safety and the safety of our child. This was also a very expensive repair to the vehicle.

Also the headlights on the intrepid are too dim for night driving. I was backing out of my garage when i heard a "thunk" sound and then noticed my steering was completely gone. The two bolts which hold the rack and pinion together had failed and broken completely. I contacted the manufacturer and told them i could understand just about any mechanical failure except the complete loss of steering. They said they would do nothing toward the repair. They said the car was out of warranty and had too many miles for them to offer any compensation. No one i have talked to including the service manager at the dealership had ever heard of such a failure. The dealer quoted me $2200 to repair it; i found an independent to repair it for approximately $740. I feel this kind of mechanical failure should never occur!

The rear lateral link holds the rear wheel in alignment. It has two bushings on each end and an adjustment thread in the center. The tubing the bushing mounts in split thus rendering the car very unstable even at 25 mph. My wife was just about to get on the freeway when this occured. The tube that split open is rolled in its construction. However, the seam did not break, and the weld did not break rather the tube split just outside of the weld area. There was no impact to this part or any related suspension component. It just failed under normal use. I understand that parts wear out, but this item only contained a wearable part and in and of it self should not have failed. Had my wife reached freeway speeds when it failed the results could have been disasterous! i have a picture of this failed component available if you would like to see it.

Owner experiencing front end problems; had to replace the whole front end of the vehicle; constantly replacing the tires; while driving down the road vehicle feels as though it's going to fall off the wheels.
I have found many complaints listed for this exact failure on the 1994 intrepids.this to me is a very very dangerous failure, as i was on a main highway when the failure occurred causing immediate loss of power.this could have easily occurred on the capital beltway that i was approaching, where vehicles routinely travel 55+ mph.i am very concerned for my own safety and that of my spouse/children should this failure happen again, and of course i am concerned about the welfare of others.in several e-mail messages that i have viewed service representatives have been quoted that chrysler is aware of "a problem".i can make the e-mails and quotes available to you if you so choose.i just had this trans replaced today at a cost to me of $2,000.00.this seems to be the average price according to e-mails.i had no choice but to have the repair done as i depend on my vehicle for daily commutes/transport of children etc.i appreciate your prompt assistance, as i will be contacting local officials regarding this hazard.w. Gentlemen: i just bought recently a dodge intrepid 1994 used of course. This car was bought in guadalajara mexico and was when new imported from the usa. The problem is the following:yesterday, we heard a sound coming from the front suspension, so we took the car to a mechanic, who in order to test it and hear the noise, drove the car two blocks, and when turning in a corner, suddenly the front right shaft came out and broke down leaking oil and spreading small metal parts. We had to push the car back to the work shop and found the problem was not really in the shaft in itself, but the main frame or (bastidor) as we call it in mexico, who was teared off without any apparent reason, as it was not beaten, hitted or rusty it has no show of any harm. The mechanic said this is the first time he sees something like this. I am very concerned as this car was used in a highway the day before with my family and if this situation was present at that time, you can imagine the risk we ran on and the potential consequences. At this time, i have to replace both the frame and the shaft, meaning a strong disbursement for me, therefore i want to present my claim, as this seems to be a defective part. I remember when i was about to buy the car a friend came by and told me "remember, it is a chrysler"meaning warning. I sold a 1992 thunderbird sc in good conditions to buy this car and i never had a problem like this by far. Vehicle was not steering correctly. Dealer contacted, and stated the entire front end was worn out,repairwork could not be done to remedy the problem. Consumer had repairs done at owner's expense.

Bought car in 2001, with 69,000 miles. 2 days after purchase, gauges stopped working, car ran fine, no noise, etc. Intermittent problem. Dealer could not duplicate. Happened while driving past dealer, stopped and they checked for codes, none found. Happened again, dealer had code for airbag module this time, replaced part. Problem is still intermittent. 2003, driving at 75 mph on highway, car stalled, no restart. Towed to dealer, they replaced timing belt and water pump. Also had brake rotors and pads replaced at 72,000. They were done at 55,000 also. Replaced tie rod ends 2004 at 97,000. They had been replaced a week before purchase at 68,500. Passenger airbag cover warped, i fear it may fail in accident.

I was driving my car when i took a right turn the car started to shake. Then the steering wheel took a violent turn to the left and locked causing my car to be thrown into a concrete electrical pole i received several injuries to my head face and shoulder neck and back my car was at a total loss i could not believe what had just happened to me my mechanic looked at the car and he told me it could not be fixed then i later found that there had been recalls on the part that broke on my car i have researched this throughly andi cant understand with all the problems and complaints on this vechile why they are still on the road and the manufacturer wants to take no responsibility for iti was lucky to not have been killed! but the next person driving these poorly made cars might not be so lucky.

While backing out of a parking space, front control arm, that supports the engine cradle, broke on the passenger side. Three days before this happened, owner was hearing a clunking noise coming from the vehcle.manufacturer was notified about this problem. I purchased a car on 4-30-03 and was hit from behind by a hit & skip driver on 5-1-03. Police considers car a total loss. Car dealerships papers says that i have 10 days to show proof of insurance to them. The car dealership also says that they do/did not cover car for 10 day, and i still am financially responsible for the car. I was not given citation concerning the accident. The hit & skip driver pushed my car into another car. Is the dealership legally responsible to cover the car during this 10 day period? i am willing to work with the dealership but i do not feel that i should be totally financially responsible due to only owning the car for 24 hours.*nlm
Have intermittent failure of all instrument panel gauges upon cold startup of vehicle. Air bag light comes on indicating a problem when this occurs, but also occurs independently sometimes. This has been a chronic problem since october 1998. Also, when the gauges are inoperative, the transmission will not shift into overdrive. Usually the gauges come back on within a 5-10 minute period. It's unknown by the manufacturer if the airbags would deploy or not in an accident (according to the dealer-service). I have a service contract which is replacing the cluster module under my contract, but chrysler corp. Has informed the dealer that nothing is covered concerning the malfunctioning airbag light & module. This car has never been wrecked, and has had regular service per the manufacturer's suggestions. I feel this is a safety problem which should be the manufacturer's responsibility.

While driving a loud knocking noise was heard coming from the front. Vehicle accelerated and hit a brick wall. Upon impact, both frontal air bags did not deploy. Driver sustained head and back injuries, and was transported by ambulance to a hospital.the vehicle was towed to the dealer.

In january, my 6-year-old intrepid (with only 26,000 miles) began lurching when i braked.the dealer initially thought it was the brakes, but then said it was worn seals and gaskets in the transmission.i was told the work would cost $1400.when i complained, the work was done for $700 because of the low mileage.i then received the transmission recall notice, but was told that this was for different work.when i had the car in today and the tires were rotated, i was told that there was a safety problem with the steering - that parts were cracked and worn and had to be replaced.this would cost $600.i had a newspaper clipping from nov. 1999 that described steering problems in my model car and the nhtsa investigation.when i read it to the service advisor, he said that was the problem.i asked why i had to pay for a repair when chrysler knew there was a safety issue, and he said i had to be charged until there actually was a recall notice.i do not blame the dealer, but this is grossly unfair and irresponsible on the part of chrysler.i now will have spent more than $1200 on safety repairs on a car that has been driven very few miles.this is my first and last chrysler.please do the steering recall soon so i can get my money back.thanks.
On two different occasions vehicle experienced sudden acceleration when putting the vehicle in reverse. One incident the vehicle accelerated hitting a church, broke a window and blew out a tire. On another incident the vehicle accelerated going over a curb and hit a tree on the passenger side, no one was injured on both incidents but there was property damage.

When the vehicle is at a constant speed of 60 mph, the cruise contol kicks in momentarily.this happens approximately 12 minutes after engine startup and the cruise control is off.

Our car has failed the a/c evaporator, power steering hose, timing belt tensioner, water pump, pulley, timing belt, the electronic climate control does not work - no air from any vents, transmission will not go in reverse when cold, transmission will not downshift to first when cold, transmission will not upshift to 3rd when cold, fuel leaked from the fuel rail, engine is hard to start when cold

I have a 94 dodge intrepid that had a flat tire in a driving rain.in short the lug nuts have a tin cover on them that twisted off while trying to remove them.the lug wrench also rounded off and is no longer serviceable.the real problem was that due to galvanic reaction the aluminum wheel was corroded onto the steel hub/disc brake.after myself and the highway patrolman that was assisting me were unable to remove the tire and aluminum wheel the only recourse was to climb under the vehicle while on a jack and beat it off with a dead blow hammer.it says right in there owner manual "never to get under a vehicle while on a jack."i was very unhappy with the whole situation.upon reporting this incident to chrysler corp. There only response was that i should have had it towed into a servicing dealer.i ask you then, why is there a jack provided with the vehicle?why doesn't the lug wrench provided work? why is it necessary to put ones life in danger having to get under the vehicle upon a jack to remove the tire?and finally, why doesn't chrysler corp care about my safety? incident responded to by kansas highway patrol, badge #407i'm a deputy with the barton co. While driving and with no warning bar connected to two rear tires had cracked, causingvehicle to heavily vibrate. Dealer notified.
Wheel collapsed during accident, causing vehicle to lose control/rollover.*skd
Was traveling 50mph when the driver's front side wheel came off. Was bolted on. Tried to stop vehicle after it collapsed to pavement. The suspension, coil springs & the straps were damaged when this happened. Vehicle hit guardrail.
